I didn't like how tropey Layla was in the show. Like she was basically information fodder. Google basically. Always right about stuff, and very boring in general :(

But then I watched that mini episode and i immediately fell in love with her crazed conspiracy theorist self. She was so much more entertaining and interesting!! So i turned that up to like 500%

Hello, I’ve been reading your fanfic “Chaos for the Fly” I’m sure you’ve heard of it, Yeah?

Ok, good.

Well, I’m just over a chapter into writing my very first, ever (soon to be) posted fanfiction, and I was wondering something.

Feel free to say no, I won’t be upset… much.

But, I would very much like to “borrow” several of your OCs from Chaos. I just feel as though they are cannon to me and any OC that I come up with, would just be a pale, poor imitation of your characters. I mean, granted, they would still be pale, poor imitations of your work. Regardless of if you let me use them or not.

Like I said, feel free to say no, they are your creations and you did the work. All I would be doing is copying your homework but changing it enough that the teacher (readers) can’t tell that I copied off of you.

For real though, I wouldn’t be copying them verbatim. I’ll be altering the story to fit mine, but for the most part I plan to use most of their beforehand lives in the same manor that you did. Obviously, some of it will be different, and the writing will be astronomically worse, compared to your writing.

I will also be changing most of everything that happened after the new semester begins. But they will still be the same characters, for the most part and was wondering if I could use them.

Again, say no if you want. I haven’t actually gotten to the point in the story that I wanted to write them in.

So, don’t think I’ve already written stuff with them in it, and that you don’t want me to scrap what I have. I haven’t written anything with them yet, except for concepts and ideas for the story as a whole.

Also, obviously I will give you credit, for the use of the characters. I’m not that heartless. I will link your fic several, several times throughout my fic. And I will state in several chapter notes that I got permission from you.

Anyway, thank you for the fantastic fanfiction. I blame you for the heartache that’ll come with writing fanfiction and actually posting it. And have a nice flight.

List of characters I would like to use: Dr. Josephine Zypher (of course), Her girlfriend Emiliana Girard (that was how it was spelled right?), the snakes Altair and possibly Gus Gus (can’t not have them), Dr. Kerrigan Gallor/bug man, and And Josephine’s Grandfather Dr. Hugh Zypher. I might also use Mr. Harlow, but I haven’t decided yet.

(PS. I’m only halfway done with Chaos, but I just had so many ideas that I wanted to start writing. So for the future, if someone says I’m copying your fic, it’s cause I probably wrote it before finishing chaos. I will state that much while posting my fic, but it may come up idk. Also, I’m trying to find the time in my days to write and read. But so far, I suck at time management.)

(PPS. I totally didn’t create a whole AO3 account, tumblr account, and Reddit account just because of your fic Chaos inspiring me to finally kick my butt into gear and actually start writing some stuff AND posting them. Instead of just writing crap and keeping it to myself for years and years. TYSM love your work. ❤️)

I’m always content to encourage other writers and say that I am cool to share the toys in the sandbox. I’m glad that I have inspired you to write. First and foremost, I would hope that whoever is borrowing my original characters is not making any sort of profit from their writing, as I firmly do not believe in charging readers for fan works (ko-fi, a patreon or commissions for fic).

However, I’m not sure why you would want to borrow my OCs if you want to change them around? At that point, wouldn’t you just want to develop your own original characters if the ones I created aren’t going to serve your writing needs? I really don’t know why you’d want to use someone else’s OC and make it your own version of that original character when you could just make your own OC.

I also really don’t think you should just write a copy-change of someone else’s fic that you are planning to post? Like if you’re doing that to practice writing and keeping it in your own space, that’s one thing, but I think it’s pretty bold to copy-change and post someone else’s work with your own spin on what is already a fan work. I’m not sure I understand this. I ultimately don’t care. I won't read something featuring my OCs that I didn’t write, and don’t promote works that I don’t read so...whatever happens, I honestly probably won’t see it unless someone brings it to my attention.  I'm glad my fic has inspired you to write, and wish you well in that endeavor!

Little Layla fic where Eddie and r take layla trick or treating

Dad!Eddie Munson x fem!reader

Summary: You and Eddie take Layla trick or treating

"I need help!" Layla calls from her room. You walk in and notice her stuck in her princess dress. You help her put it on. Eddie wanted her to be Arwen from lord of the rings but she insisted that she wanted to be Cinderella.

"Come on let's go. Your dad will meet us at Grandpa Wayne's." you tell her. You walk down the street hand in hand. "There's my little princess" Wayne says. Layla runs up to him and gives him a big hug. "Let's go inside and wait for your dad" he says.

About half an hour later the door to the trailer opens. "Daddy! I'm a princess see?" she says excitedly. "I see that. You are the prettiest princess I've ever seen" he replies and gives you a quick kiss. "Let's go let's go!" she chants. You all say goodbye to Wayne and exit the trailer.

Despite Layla's excitement to go trick or treating she suddenly gets very shy. She knocks on the door and then runs to hide behind Eddie. The door opens. "Say trick or treat," Eddie tells her. "Twick o weat" she whispers. "You gotta hold out your bag so she can put candy in it" Eddie tells her. Layla holds her bag out towards the lady still hiding behind Eddie. "Happy Halloween!" the woman says to Layla.

After you all return to Eddie trailer he takes her candy away and hides it to which she has a full on meltdown. "You'll get it in small doses" he tells her. He hands her a lollipop and she quiets down and grabs it from him.

You all fall asleep on the couch that night watching the Halloween episode of Layla's favorite show.

Just wanted to say that I much appreciate and highly recommend watching the episode clips (shorts, reels, what have you) of Headless Series that Shipwrecked Comedy has been putting out! They always pick such good moments to post as clips (not that there is really a bad moment at all). They highlight such wonderful pieces of the series and work from both the cast and crew! I've seen the show countless times at this point, but something about the clips especially helps bring little moments to light! I always find myself concentrating on the clip at hand and thinking about it extra more. I'm noticing little costume details. I've caught facial expressions that I've missed. And, a little odd, but I've noticed audio (and lighting) details that before have been hard to catch. All this to say, they've made me appreciate the show even more and have more questions and thoughts about it! (Also, I always harbor the wish that one of these clips will help the show go viral.)

Something I want to build on with vincent at some point is how much the years of being an adventurer has taken a toll on him. he spent so long just being angry at the world but as he gets closer and closer to carteneau he does start recognizing how reckless he's been and the mistakes he's made over the years. friendships (especially with layla and nhea) helping him get a little closer to how he used to be before finally stopping and trying to do better for himself when he loses his leg. and the fact that guilt has really solidified in him to still make him push himself in his healing rather than combat (though sometimes still pushing himself too far) and how the years of treating himself like a weapon have taken a toll on his mind (he has terrible nightmares that only a select few have been able to help him through it)

Layla rushed forward once she saw Gideon, white shirt now a dark red, nearly black from the dried blood. There was so much blood. She had no idea one person could have so much. He didn’t react when she stopped before him, gripping his forearms as she scanned his face for anything, any sign of what had happened. His face was still as stone but his eyes betrayed him. They always had. Her composure crumbled and she sank against him, sobbing into his shoulder. When was the last time she had let him lay a hand on her? He didn’t speak as he ran bloodstained fingers through her hair and held her close. Her tears darkened his shirt further.
