The 3rd Great-Grandparents

So here we are talking 5th generation, people born somewhere around 1820-40. I don't know much about them, only what I found recorded in the birth, marriage and death registers.

On my Czech side

My 3rd Great-Grandparent Francis was a carpenter living in the country town of Litomerice in Bohemia. Family history has it that whilst working on repairing a nearby mansion in Brezany, he fell in love with the owner's daughter Catherine. Turns out the love was mutual and they married, even at the cost of her originally French aristocratic family's rejection.

My next 3rd Great-Grandparent, also called Francis, was a Familiant from Mansberk in Moravia, which means he was a hereditary lease holder of a small estate and area of land sufficient to support the family, i.e. about 6 ha created through raabisation, the division of manorial estates in the 18th century. His wife Frantiska was also from Moravia.

The next 3rd Great-Grandparent, was called Joseph and was a Zahradník, meaning he owned a house and a garden, or some negligible area of land in a town called Zebus (Chcebus). He was living with a woman called Maria from the same town. I am not sure they were married, because he only admits to being their childs father, no mention of meritial status.

And the final 3rd Great-Grandparent couple on the Czech side was Karel, a tailor from Sedlec near Tabor. He married Anna from Brandys.

Summary: This generation are craftsmen or farmers and live in small towns scattered around Bohemia and Moravia (Lands of the Bohemian Crown which are at that time part of the Austrian Empire under the rule of Francis II & I and after him Ferdinand I.... so were two of my ancestors named after the ruling king?? Hmm).

I VIAGGI DELL'ANIMA

I viaggi di questo "numero" si sono effettuati tutti nella Repubblica Ceca: tra Praga, Litomerice, Olomouc e Brno.

E del resto, cosa di meglio di Praga e delle città ceche rimandano a un'atmosfera tipicamente invernale e ancora più animistica?

Persino i centri commerciali e le stazioni ferroviarie hanno un "non so che" di magico e di romantico.

In particolare è proprio Praga con i suoi castelli da fiabe, i suoi musei in stile classico, e persino il suo corso d'acqua (il fiume Vltava -Moldava-). rivela angoli suggestivi e da sogno.

Salendo a circa 70 chilometri da Praga si incontra il piccolo borgo di Litomerice:

e già il fatto che sia un piccolo centro lo rende ancora più unico e suggestivo. E' proprio nel cuore della Cechia e in particolare nelle piccole cittadine che si respirano la magia, la bellezza, le tradizioni e le culture di questi luoghi.

Le mura fortificata di Litomerice ne fanno, di questo borgo, una sorta di ampia fortezza residenziale. La chiesa del paese, la grande piazza e le vie circostanti fanno di Litomerice uno dei centri piccoli più visitati della Cechia.

E ridiscendiamo, spostandoci verso est ecco Olomouc:

tipica cittadina morava (il fiume che scorre per la città porta proprio il nome di Morava), Olomouc detiene -forse- il maggior numero di chiese della Repubblica Ceca, almeno in proporzione e in rapporto con la grandezza della città e il numero degli abitanti di Olomouc (circa 100.000). Particolare sono i musei civici e le molte sale municipali che conferiscono a Olomouc un aspetto quasi monarchico-ecclesiale (ricordiamo Venceslao I, Ladislao I e il Regno di Boemia). Sede anche di numerose facoltà universitarie, a rendere ancora più armoniosa questa città sono due grandi parchi cittadini tra loro confinanti e uniti da un cavalcavia pedonale.

E a giudicare dalle immagini sopra, davvero la neve rende ancora più magnifici questi angoli di Cechia: dimostrando così che l'anima non la si trova solo nei paradisi sconfinati e nelle ampie distese di verde e di cielo, o nei posti meno raggiungibili e più selvaggi, ma anche a pochi passi da noi o comunque all'interno di contesti urbani magnifici e singolari, per cittadine che conservano ancora intatte le loro peculiarità e le loro tradizioni.

Ed è questo che è ancor più caldamente consigliata una vacanza-viaggio nella Cechia, perchè è tutto il paese che può vantare luoghi semplicemente unici.

Leitmeritz ❤️🙏 Hier waren wir im letzten Jahr gemeinsam in Leitmeritz.. Mein Großer liebte es immer, gut gekleidet und am liebsten im #hugoboss Anzug zu sein. Fein mit Krawatte und Hemd.
