okay A) do it, they’re the best band ever and literally so funny you’ll die and luke hemmings is the loml so like you need to

B) the way i did it was i just listened to their first album and worked from there, but if we’re being extremely honest here their first album is hardly anyone’s favorite and that’s for a reason, so if you’re gonna listen to an album first i’d say either work from the beginning because you’ll here their growth more, or their 4th album CALM is really good and it’s only like 12 songs plus a bonus track and it’s a really good intro to them, or youngblood is my fav album by them so i’d definitely throw that your way

C) if you don’t want to listen to an album first and just want to get a feel, here are my fav songs by them

- take my hand (joshua tree version) ((ashton, the drummer, has said that this is the song he would want to define their band))

- lie to me (NOT the version featuring julia michaels) (this one comes with an extremely sad music video which i would be glad to describe to you in depth

- jet black heart (this one is really personal to their guitarist michael and they’ve said that they’re never removing it from their set list because it’s just too good which is amazing news because this song live is CATHARTIC)

- outer space/carry on (don’t be confused by the random silence in the middle it’s the rain in outer space if you listen closely, also i listen to this one every new year’s eve because it’s very hopeful and comforting)

- older (luke hemmings ft. his wife basically but it’s literally the most beautiful depressing love song and they randomly released it one day so i was crying at the bank after school when it first came out)

also for some background info: they started out as a pop rock-ish band and luke hemmings is their lead singer, but they all sing and play instruments.

luke hemmings - lead singer, rhythm guitar (but he can also fucking shred because he’s made of angel dust)

calum hood - bass, background vocals mostly (he sings the entirety of wildflower & babylon and has mixed verses here and there throughout all their albums)

michael clifford - lead guitar, background vocals (he also has mixed verses here and there and sings the entirety of emotions)

ashton irwin - drums (and a beast at them) and background vocals (he had verses here and there too but not as common)

if you listen to a song, for example, Teeth, and you pause and think wait, there’s no way that’s the same guy singing because the vocals go so high and they were so deep before, that’s not possible, ITS LUKE!!! HE HAS THE MOST AMAZING RANGE OF ANY MALE ARTIST ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET AND CAN AND WILL SING AS HIGH OR AS LOW AS HE WANTS BECAUSE HE IS AN ICON

and if you wanna get to know their personalities first, carpool karabloke was the first video i watched of them (their australian hence karabloke) and it’s literally just them fucking around in the car listening to their album CALM (side note, that albums is there names —calum, ashton, luke, michael—because if there’s one thing they love, it’s naming an album after themselves. see: 5 seconds of summer, livesos, CALM, 5sos5)

and one more thing, if you listen to them and don’t really fuck with them (you would be wrong, by the way, listen again) then two of their members have solo works!! ashton had two albums: blood on the drums and superbloom, and luke has an album: when facing the things we turn away from (this one i could really talk about for hours because it’s my favorite album of all time) and a long ep called “boy” which is also amazing, so i would check those out

“Like those guys can do something productive besides catching the sparkly people?” You respond to Leah with a playful smirk.

Leah has been your bff since 8th grade. College was a little rough when she stopped replying to messages, so you made sure to confront her about it. Before you made it to her house through the shortcut between the woods, you were accidentally almost getting eaten alive by Victoria and almost having a heart attack getting rescued by Leah. Although the pretty red hair was worth a compliment, your almost death was how you were able to be in the cool kids group. Except…you knew a little more than what people knew since you were on the front lines of the action. Like literally you saw Leah phase and that almost made you pass out or have that heart attack. Once Sam found out, Leah was able to tell you the rest..that included all the tea! Yeah that was a fun way to come back for the summer from college!

And no- Leah didn’t imprint for a few years later on a really cool dude. Honestly he is even better for her than Sam just because they are soulmates in all ways. You were always on her side about the Sam/Emily/Leah drama until you were in the know about the tribe. You understood all sides, but doesn’t mean it still isn’t a cringe conversation. Luckily Leah let a lot of it go when she met her imprint. They even all go out for dates nights together. I’m still mind blown about that one, but the wolves and vamps totally are 85% of that mind explosion.

Speaking of the wolves, Emily and Sam are having a big dinner for the pack and their imprints of any close friends. Sam knew you moved back to town for work and planned to stay permanently so you received an invite. You kinda didn’t want to go. Leah used to complain about them never wearing shirts and showing off. Not that you minded a great looking guy, but the image you had in your head was clones of Seth. Cute and cuddly but not very appealing unless you wanted to date your little brother.

“What am I supposed to wear anyways?” I was kinda excited to go Friday night, but was really nervous for some reason. “Wear that bubble gum pink dress you bought with the sparkly shoes.” I gave Leah an “are you for real?” Look. She responded with an excuse about the weather being nice. Also all I wear is shorts and tees so I guess I might as well wear something nicer with people I’ve never met. Still felt like a set up for a blind date or big joke.

As Friday night rolled around Leah picked you up with her boyfriend. Honestly everyone was expecting fiancé any day now but ya know. You wore the outfit picked out and curled your hair. Leah turned around while her man was driving for an inspection you assumed. “What’s that word you would say?? Oh yeah! Fabulous. You look perfect!” Wow that was a surprise as Leah doesn’t give out too many compliments. Even in this joking manner you still could tell you looked great. Your anxiety subsided as you all started singing to your fav band.

Shortly you arrived at Emily’s place where you could hear music and laughter. Also the air smelled amazing like steak. Leah said it’s a special occasion since you picked a day to attend where steak was being served. These guys can chow down so everyone usually chipped in when it wasn’t simple or cheaper meals. Emily was saint to put up with all this ruckus as Seth ran by wrestling Brady and Collin. He was actually winning and not by cheating either. You were lost in watching them while walking when you accidentally bumped into one of the supposed wolves.

Leah started cackling, “what a great way to make an entrance”. I rolled my eyes while apologizing to Jacob as I was introduced. Leah brought up the subject of the car. As it turned out the car quit this morning so Jake would have to come by and work on it at your house enough to get it to his garage or tow it. You planned to have him come by tomorrow since you are off weekends.

Leah started dragging you deeper in the back yard. You said hello to those you knew- Emily, Sam, Paul, and met Rachel. Jacob you just met too but already knew Seth, Brady, and Collin. You remember some of the guys around the Rez as kids like Quil and Jared but one guy was a stranger. As Leah formally introduced you to the guys, Quil of course put on the moves instantly- as Leah predicted. Jared said hello and promised to introduce you to Kim when she got off work and arrived within the next half hour. As I turned to the last one- wait what name? Never heard of that one but Leah said his name was Embry and he was fine (you kept that thought to yourself). Suddenly you felt scared to look into his eyes but as you did, you met his, but he just stared. Not a smile, nod, or hello. You dropped his hand from shaking it and were embarrassed thinking you must have done something wrong as you turned and went to grab a drink of water.

As you walked off you didn’t see Leah literally grab Embry by the neck and threaten his life if you were not kept healthy, happy, and safe. Embry did look incredibly frightened from her sudden declaration, but she also looked into his eyes and knew his life was made up right there. He didn’t ever tell you but he saw everything. Some of it he couldn’t wait for and others he knew life would throw you hard things but he was always there. And he wanted to always make that promise to you come true every day.

Jared in the mean time face palmed at how embarrassing his friend was and Quil was again rejected. Jake turned up then and came to his rescue by mentioning that you have a car to be worked on…and a partner would be acceptable. Embry didn’t even want to be paid for the mechanic job, he just wanted to take you on a date. Leah noticed and mentioned to ask if you can help Jacob to break the ice…but mentioned smiling would be less frightening.

Embry came over at the moment I turned back to talk to someone I actually knew. I almost bumped into him too. I started to apologize for whatever I did but at that moment he simply smiled and asked for my number. Then he look embarrassed for being quite to the point. I grabbed his hand and told him don’t worry that’s all I wanted when I saw you. He informed me that tomorrow he would like to come to help Jake so that maybe we could go out for dinner to really get to know each other after. That evening we spent a while talking, but I did beat him at monopoly. Finally the night wrapped up and as I was riding home my phone dinged.

my first idol ocs group, naturally was a llsif fan group love them with my entire heart despite the fact that i make content with them like once ten years, they live in my head all the damn time there are 9 of them, canonically they are the only ones who have the privilege of being "very fucking popular and successful" went from being school idols (SparkleS) with pretty typical cute/energetic concept, then debuted fr (Andromeda) and now their concept is more mature/elegant/cool

generally speaking, everyone in the company treat Andromeda like seniors/girlbosses (because they are) while cheer4U are now the youngest and newest group they are kinda babies to everyone Andromeda doesn't have very close relations to anyone (being popular doesn't help here), but they are considered like a proper sister group to Ishin-Denshin, due to some matching concept elements and being the 'foundation' of the company Andromeda and Ishin-Denshin def had their little collabs, specifically vocal-based, since both group got mad vocalists also important to point out that Ishin-Denshin are huge fans of Andromeda, like every single one of them loves them, they def have been following Andromeda since their school idol days and they are still not over the fact that they ended up in the same company

Ishin-Denshin and GRIMM parade are a bit closer, i think because they are the same age, and because Ryunosuke insisted they should be rivals LOL it didn't happen tho, because Ishin-Denshin are just sweeties, and were like "no thank you <3", so Ryunosuke settled on Ishin-Denshin being their supporters or smth anyways, they def hang out somewhat regularly, ofc each of GRIMM parade members is close to different Ishin-Denshin members i think main proper friendships i have are: Ryunosuke and Tadao (leaders and basically dads of their group... lowkey considering making them a couple ahaha...) Shouhei and Nobu+Kyo, Shouhei and Nobu are just besties who hang out a bunch, but two of them with Kyo had like a whole event of helping Shouhei deal with a nasty break up he had (Nobu had a shitty relationship too, while Kyo.. well... it's in his TH profile B) the point is Kyo and Nobu just helped Shouhei process things) Rokuro and Kyo - just hype boys who hype together

NO... no! They are not making ANOTHER The Crow remake in fucking 2024!!

As if the other 3 movies & weird series weren't already enough?? The original movie is one of my favs (+ the comics). That's why people showered me with all the other movies too, thinking I might be interested in them. Couldn't even finish movie 4 because it was so dumb. The second movie was still okayish. Can't remember the third. The series was kinda low budged fantasy crime drama version but had it's charm.

Seeing the trailer of the remake.... they could at least make it another part in the universe (different characters) and not a REMAKE (same characters redesigned). This new one looks more like a sci-fi Joker movie... They didn't even give Eric his long hair... my siblings in hell, he is/was literally in a rock band! That's part of his character!

Now to this face tattooed Suicide Squad Joker version of him... they really make this into this generic modern overused super-anti-hero version...... He looks like he's into gangster rap now and fresh out of jail.

Another thing that bothers me with ALL the parts that come after the original... the makeup choice is such a PERSONAL choice for Eric Draven. It is based on a harlequin mask he joked around with his fiancé. But every other following The Crow main character got this make up too which doesn't make sense!

At least it looks like they are trying to get closer to the comic version now with the remake. There is a skeleton cowboy in the comics that never made it into the movies. He explains the rules and connection with the crow. They seem to have that character now in the new movie... but he's not a skeleton in this movie either... just some dude. It would have been more compelling, if it was all different characters in the same universe, like they did with the other movies at least.

THE ONLY inspired by The Crow story I like is the book "The Crow: The Lazarus Heart" by Poppy Z. Brite. It's about a gay couple, where one of them got killed by a serial killer and the other (who was a SM photographer) got wrongfully sentenced to death for this crime on his boyfriend. He then gets resurrected by the crow and takes revenge and solves the crime. If they would make THAT book into a movie I would be so here for it. But people would freak out that they make The Crow woke now... even though that book is from 1998 (btw written by a transman as I found out now!)

happy ummm 8th month on t? (9th if i were actually on t continuously but i ran out for a month that one time) i used to do monthly t updates on tiktok but i dont rlly feel like doing that rn so i'll yap about it here (its actually wild how little stuff i have about my transition on my tumblr generally speaking? as if this isnt the website that transed my gender in the first place)

it really is hard to notice such gradual changes from month to month, especially if its just me lookin at myself, compared to seeing a doctor in person which, i am getting rx'd T thru telehealth currently as my nearest planned parenthood or even a neighboring one does not actually do gender affirming care which is. insane and whack. esp when i do live in a pretty populated county maybe second or third to nyc and albany area. and i have to call in to a pp THREE HOURS BY TRANSIT from me. but like, its been working for now ok!

mentally and emotionally ive been very up and down overall but i think thats largely due to my medication changes rather than hormones. ALTHOUGH. when i ran out for a month in november and my period came back... dude it was so horrible like genuinely the worst period of my life. its one of those things where i didnt realize just how dysphoric something could make me feel until i had a taste of being able to alleviate said dysphoria. so mentally speaking testosterone is probably pulling the mental train even more than the wellbutrin lol. and im trying not to account too much for circumstance/environment cuz like OBVIOUSLY if things were going smoothly for me there a lot of my emotional issues would be at least somewhat relieved, but im working with what i got.

physically, since starting t in july i have lost weight. at first i was very scared it was my medication, and i think a part of it was at least a little, like two of my meds can cause some weight loss, but i am no longer losing weight in a concerning way but just yknow the regular amount of daily fluctuation. so i do think a lot of my weight loss was due to hormones just shifting around my fat and all that, or something idk lol. everyones so diff with hormones, i know some trans guys gain weight on t and not necessarily from muscle training, i know girls on e who have lost weight without any changes to diet or exercise, it really depends so as always, this is just my experience etc etc

i do have more facial hair but its still quite patchy, i think i might start filling in my stache tho. with my shitty goatee, its not my fav so i shave it off when im not just sitting inside all day, but also idk it makes my chin feel less. round. or smth. i do always think of my one friend telling me ill look like the lead singer of a nü metal band and honestly maybe i should start giving that energy more anyway! embrace goatee lifestyle!

oh yeah my voice dropped in like the first two months and has gotten deeper since, and on timtom i talked a lot about wanting to maintain the vocal range i had pre-t? i dont think thats fully possible like i think the highest notes i used to reach are just inaccessible to me, but i think if i did some like vocal singing warmups i can get back up to reach those higher notes. in retrospect the way ive sung my whole life has actually prob been destructive on my voice, partly from lack of proper training and partly intentionally trying to sound deeper and more gravelly, but now that i can access deeper sounds more naturally i really do wanna work on singing in a better way where i can reach some of those notes.

overall yea im liking whats happening so far, i do wish it was happening faster but i understand that some people dont get the progress ive gotten for like, YEARS, and new progressions will be happening to me for years after today. if you think about "real" puberty, it is a gradual shift its not like you suddenly grow a chest as soon as you Bleed or whatever its different for literally every person and since im the only one in my family that i know of who has done this, im kind of a guinea pig. but like im okay with that! anyway yeah really recommrnd testosterone if u want it i like it :)

Music and metal music specifically is my main special interest and the first special interest my autistic brain fully latched onto from when I was 7. It got exponentially worse over the decades. My brain is an encyclopedia of lyrics, album information, band information, etc. Play me a song once for clean vocals and 2-3 times for screams and I'll know it. It's a bit of a problem because there clearly is no space for all that data in my brain versus other "normal" things I should know like, you know, maths and shit. My brain will remember by heart and be able to sing along to the entirety an album I haven't heard in 20 years. Okay, here we go. My darling anon, I had to HUNT in my blog archive to find this post, but here is my basic rundown of Rammstein itself as a band (<-linked). So come back here after reading that post if you really don't know anything about the band bc this def won't make any sense. In THIS post I'd love to discuss WHY I'm so obsessed R+ and all the things that I personally love about them. I will format it in bullet points to spare myself and everyone's sanity:

I feel like the most obvious point should be the first; I love their music! I grew up on industrial and synth, so introducing metal to that mix is like a heavenly mashup. The heavy guitar, the synth keyboard, the gorgeous vocals and deep (often complicated) lyrics??? I would insert the music directly into my chest cavity if I could and that sounds really fucking weird but that's where I feel like it should live 🧍🏻‍♀️

I have daddy issues point blank, that much is obvious from my blog LMAOOO so ofc latching onto gruff middle aged men is a fundamental human need for me at this point

The style and uniqueness of the band is incredible. Who else do you know that lights everything on fire while looking like they just walked off a movie set? Their outfits are so fucking awesome. Like every time I see a new fit I eat that shit up and stare at pics for hours on end because they're so intricate and cool and kinda kinky?? I WISH I could be their fashion designer like jfc. Also their makeup/ face paint is always killer. I need to kiss their stylists fr !!! The 90's-y2k looks are some of my favs

the history of the band is also very interesting. a bunch of weird dudes from East Germany end up becoming pals and form a band and rise to stardom while soldiering through the trials and tribulations such fame throws their way? love an underdog story. I highly recommend watching the documentary Rammstein in Amerika, it gives a lot of insight into the band's origins and history up through 2015

Some of the shit they pull is so freaky and weird that its camp at this point. The dick mold dildos? camp. The fact that they need licenses to use all their pyrotechnics? camp. Being arrested for public indecency? camp.

I am incredibly, overwhelmingly, unhingedly down bad for Till, Richard, and Paul (and also Schneider to an extent but not as much). I would allow for unspeakable things to be done to me if given even the slightest opportunity if you know what I'm saying

PAUL'S HAIR !!!! He is so silly goofy but I fucking LOVE Paul's stupid little haircuts. like yass go off with your little monk bowl cuts I'm eating it up I'm putting you in my pocket

Richard is a perfect little baby angel and I would die for him. I love his spiky hair. I love his nail polish; I paint my nails like him. He is so cute. I love the way he speaks, in German and in English. I also LOVE his band Emigrate, esp the most recent album. He's so awesome 😭 that being said I wish he wouldn't smoke like a chimney because I dread hearing the news one day that he has cancer but ofc I can't do anything about that in the slightest

Darling little (not so little...) Doom Schneider has an incredibly gorgeous side profile. And I love the pornstache he occasionally sports. He's also another one who is just like. A Normal Guy in my head. He is also very very pretty and very well spoken. I loved listening to him talk during the Rammstein in Amerika documentary

I also think Ollie is also just a Dude,, tho admittedly I don't really even think about him much because he is so normal and not unhinged that he kinda just blends into the background most times. He is 6'7 tho so that is fucking insane

I'm really bad at those kinda things but let's see...

1. Electric Callboy (who's surprised, not me)

where do I even start... over the last two years I not only fell in love with their music, but with the guys as well. They are all genuinely wonderful people and I also love them for making me love going to concerts again, meeting friends (and I have met some truly amazing people through them, for which I'll be forever grateful).

Not only are they nice people of course, but they're also obviously great musicians! Not only are Nico and Kevin great vocalists, they are also working so well together, writing music, creating such amazing things together. There's also Dan - the mastermind. Playing not only guitar, but also writing and producing music (for countless bands). There's Pasl, also playing guitar, and producing amazing music videos together with his brother. David, playing drums and being an influencer kurwa 😎 (and being the nicest dude ever, waving to me at concerts, recognizing me like?? how is that real life??). And not to forget, Daniel - playing bass and still doing a "real" job in his "free time" because that nerd loves his job so much 🩷

2. Samurai Pizza Cats

Gotta be honest, it took me a bit to get really into them. But thankfully I gave them a chance and oh boi, do I love them now. Not only are they Dan's second band (idk how that man does it all), but they are also genuinely nice and wonderful people. I had the pleasure of seeing them live and meeting them a few times and every time was truly wonderful. Biggest shoutout to Stefan (bass), who's just the nicest dude on this planet.

Oh, and of course they're not only nice, but they make great music. Pls give them a listen!

3. Future Palace

I fell in love with them when they were one of the support bands for the 2023 EC Tekkno Tour. The first time I heard Maria shout, I literally had goosebumps, I'm still impressed that such a tiny woman can produce these kinda sounds.

They are SO good, their music and especially their songexts are just absolutely amazing! I can't wait to see them live in December!

4. Linkin Park

well, I honestly never thought they'd be listed as one of my fav musicians but here we are 😂 it really took me a while to appreciate their music, but their second album definitely convinced me and also made me go back to some older songs which I definitely appreciate more now! I know their music and style are not everyone's cup of tea, but you can see that it's just them. something that went from being Sushi's solo project with a few band dudes, to a "real" band who enjoy what they do and who love and support each other! 🖤 I'm really looking forward to seeing them live for the first time in September!

this isn't including the shirt that I got for my bday with the characters from would you be impressed on it. Concert was hype as fuck tho. Pre-show was awesome, Beat Stu's stuff was cool. P sure they played some of their new, not-debuted stuff too. Idk the band that played on the main stage before streetlight, but their stuff was cool too.

Concert food was overpriced as always, still got some fries anyways. Non-stop bangers from Streetlight when they finally got up on stage, genuinely got chills when I got to hear a better place, a better time live. Literally the only time I took off my silencers, I couldn't miss out on the full experience of my fav song. Really good choice to have somewhere in the between as the final song, too.

Went with both my gf and my 2 sisters. one of my sisters got fuckin wasted, danced like hell, lost her phone, threw up, felt bad for her. Someone turned it in to the lost and found, thanks to that dude/dudette/duder- pretty much everyone at the concert was super nice.

Would've gotten a video of one of the performances but I was just too caught up in having a good time. Tomas kept making litigation jokes, then played a mashup of point/counterpoint and keasbey nights, fucking insane to hear live. My legs hurt like hell still though, gonna suck when I gotta go to my job today.

Most poignant part of the show though is when my gf- not super familiar with streetlight, mostly just there to spend time with me- said that Tomas sounded like Phineas from phineas and ferb.

I wasn't so stoked for Slipknot at first because pffttt I'm over that shit. But the day before, I saw that photo of Corey in the old mask and boiler suit and I was like 'oh, it's on like Donkey Kong'. There is a reason they are a reliable touring act. Fantastic.

What also helped was the ordeal leading up to it. I was on my feet for all of Danny Elfman AND Bring Me the Horizon which I didn't even realize was happening until their video package full of lore started and I was like 'no, please, don't do this to me' but I stood through it all, the ballads, a surprise guest appearance from Baby Metal, and a long pause for injury cleanup, so Slipknot was an absolute saving fucking grace. They were so tight too, I have a feeling it was some of the best Knot people have had in a long time.

Speaking of Danny Elfman, he was fucking fantastic. He played my favorite Boingo song and the Simpson's theme and that's really all I needed. Plus he was all old man sexy which is a big win for me.

Slaughter was BONKERS. Just fucking crazy, but you already know that. When Alex took off that damn mask to show off the white contact, I knew it was gonna be a good time. Dudes in the crowd were growling, and he even paused a couple times when he thought someone was in danger, calling security and such. He is such a wholesome motherfucker, when he was done doing his grizzly bear impression and bashing his forehead in with a microphone until he bled, he got all cute blowing kisses and talking about how we were all united with music in that one moment.

Primus was a fun little romp. No Shake Hands with Beef but we did get Pudding Time and John The Fisherman.

Wednesday 13 was the first act I saw and I'm so fucking glad I got there in time, damn shame they had him out so early.

Helmet and Fear Factory were mixed like shit and it made me very sad but what can you do.

Dope was a pleasant surprise, as was PM5K.

By the end of the night I had to find a picnic table to take a nap on before massaging my piss soaked feet to somewhat ease the pain of standing for 13ish hours so I could make it to the nearest taxi line which was still sadistically long. Oh yeah I pissed my pants during Horizon because the lines for the bathrooms were fuckoff long. The air was so fucking arid that they were dry in like 3 hours so it was all chill, thing is that air does not penetrate boots so again, wet pissy sweaty socks did not smell nice.

Ultimately I think the idea of a one-day festival with that many bands is a great idea for Vegas, not just for the novelty but also because otherwise it's a logistical nightmare. 85k people in and out of one place is not something aaaaaanyone wants to do two days in a row with the local heat and traffic and prices, let alone four or five days. See this is the best deal because you can get there, blow your load, and then do Vegas shit for a day or two or just straight up duck.

Bonus story. I dipped during SOAD's set after two songs because I knew there was no fucking way I was getting out of there after that. I limped out of there to Prison Song and while I was walking to the hotel where I was catching my dumbass cab, I was kinda surrounded by a small hoard of exhausted metalheads. We could all hear their set crystal fucking clearly from the street and Arials was playing. I was singing. Then I heard other festival goers singing. The security on the sidewalk was singing. It was like a cult procession walking down into a river chanting hymns, it was a beautiful moment. I pretty much watched their whole set from the street, all the way until Toxicity and Chop Suey. I made it through the whole thing on one pad too, because of course I was on my period. And my phone was dead as a doornail.
