I was saving this for my surgery but frankly I Have Given Up on that so I watched the first episode of Dungeon Meshi on Netflix today. We'll see if I have much to say about it but I'll create a new tag for that purpose: #kat watches dungeon meshi

It's possible that it's entirely non-diegetic but I'm kind of suspicious about the voiceover narrator rn. It sounds like a voice that would work for the winged lion.

i can’t seem to find a comprehensive list of dub languages online rn, these are the audio options i can select on my netflix account – not included in the poll but also available to me are hindi, indonesian, thai and a japanese audio description. idk tho if those are all that were produced or if there’s more options that are just not available in my region, lmk if there’s something else i missed here! also if you’ve listened to/watched multiple of these options do kindly tell which one(s) you like best!

Hot take but German VA Mizu > English VA Mizu

German Mizu has a deep, kinda raspy(?), but clear voice. Like a wolf. Amazing. English Mizu has a kinda deep? Also raspy voice but like do you have something in your throat? Do you need a cough drop?

Why do English speakers insist on listening to Japanese audio when playing a Chinese game? I don't get it. Why always Japanese? Why is Japanese the default? Obviously you're the kind of person that feels English just sounds too terrible for your cultured ears, so that's out of the picture. But why is Chinese, the native language, never your first choice? "I like the way Japanese sounds." So Chinese sounds bad to you? "I'm learning Japanese." Like hell you are learning anything playing a game with Japanese dialogue with English text. So what is it? Is Chinese just lesser to you or something?

i would like to pay my sincerest respect to the original japanese voice actor of shinji because rewatching the show without the dub i realize that this dude screams his ASS OFF like it legitimately hurts my throat to listen to it is so bad

no one suffers as much as a non-american whose parent REALLY got into some obscure usamerican documentary series that has 538537 seasons that only got a half-assed translation and never had a complete run on tv

because at one point that parent is gonna stand in front of you asking you to torrent the show BUT PLEASE only the full AND translated show (turns out your country was only broadcasting the first three seasons, and didn't bother dubbing OR subbing the other seasons) (there's 5 more seasons that she's now burning to watch but also refuses to because it's in english and i NEED to find her a translated one asap pls (it doesn't EXIST))

so you figure out that maybe it's just time to look for the first three seasons on official streaming platforms to keep her happy and of course they're not on them either so now she's pissed and i'm the unfortunate bystander lmfao
