Talkative
Story Summary -> Mike Wheeler had no idea why Y/N was allowed to be in Hellfire. She just took up all the time he could've been using to talk about, you know, what he wanted to. Maybe she was let in because of Eddie's very obvious soft spot for her? Or maybe it's because the other members genuinely like her? Who knows, but one thing is for sure: her not talking to him drives Eddie insane.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, Mike had heard it before. So many times, in fact. Literally so many. Y/N had been yapping away about how excited she was for the next Hellfire session for ages - well, since the last one. He had lost count of how many times he'd had to block her out. It was just over and over again. Word after word. Nothing but endless monologues of how cool she thought the direction Eddie was taking the campaign in was.
Or she'd talk about whatever movie she'd just seen. Or something interesting she'd read in an article. It seemed as if she'd just talk about whatever was on her mind, and if the other person showed enthusiasm or interest, they'd make it a full-blown conversation. (You know how two-way interactions tend to go.) And he had been left wondering why the hell Eddie even bothered to let her into the party. She was insufferable.
Nobody else seemed to mind it. It's just that Mike seemed to be under the impression that Y/N was talking up valuable speaking time. Speaking time that he could've been using to talk about El or Will or how weird it was that Lucas couldn't hang out after school today because he had basketball practice. Or...you get the gist. Anyone else could and should be speaking about what he wanted to hear, not whatever fucking dribble Y/N was spouting.
The current 'dribble' was Y/N excitedly gushing to Dustin about the upcoming Billy Joel album that was supposed to come out sometime in July. Mike sat quietly, resting his elbows on the lunch table, flicking between half listening to Y/N and dramatically eye-rolling at Gareth, who was paying the younger boy very little attention.
Billy Joel wasn't something that the members of Corroded Coffin were interested in, but Y/N and Dustin liked him so they'd be courteous. Plus, seeing the two geek out about music was nice. Yet, as most know, Mike isn't overly courteous. For some reason, he felt the need to keep interrupting it. That need only grew with every interruption.
"Jesus, Y/N, do you ever pause for breath?" Mike asked, half laughing and half irritated. "I don't think you've taken a break in the past twenty minutes."
Y/N let out a nervous laugh and immediately apologised in a quiet voice, "Sorry, guys. How were your weekends?" as she deflected the conversation onto them now and swallowed the new sense of shame that Mike had stirred up. Immediately, Mike jumped at the chance to talk about what El had told him in one of her letters. Now this was a topic he liked. This was a worthwhile topic.
That little snide comment never would've made it out of Wheeler's mouth if Eddie had been there. He was currently preoccupied with a drug deal, so anything was free game. Munson had a tendency to let Y/N drone on and on because of that tiny (actually huge and obvious) crush he had on her. All members of Hellfire knew of their leader's infatuation with little Miss Chatterbox, well, except Y/N. It was so plain for everyone else to see. He'd listen so intently, always resting his head on his hand as he gazed at her with longing. He'd ask her endless questions about whatever, even if he had no idea what she was on about.
Any chance to get her to speak more, he took. So when he arrived midway through lunch and greeted, "Hey, Lady Folksworth," and she didn't immediately respond with 'Just Alais is fine,' he knew something was up. It was something she always said. In and out of game. Lady Folksworth, her highborn ranger, hated being called Lady Folksworth. Y/N just gave him a small wave and continued with her food, listening and encouragingly nodding every now and again, but not another sound from her was heard.
Weird. That was weird.
From that moment on, Eddie noticed how little Y/N had said for the rest of the day. Maybe she was on an off day. Tomorrow would be fine. She'd be back to normal tomorrow.
Tomorrow was a smidge louder. Y/N seemed to engage in the conversation at lunch. Then Mike rolled his eyes at something she said.
Apologetically, she asked, "Sorry, did I speak over you, Wheeler?"
"Not the first time. Don't worry, Y/N. We're used to it."
Somehow he managed to play it off as if it were a friendly jab, but they both knew he meant it. Y/N laughed it off originally. She soon decided to shut up once more.
Mike managed to do that every day that week. He'd make some offhanded comment about how talkative she was, essentially shaming her into silence and switching so he could be the one who was talking. And she let him. Why not? He was just a kid. A kid who clearly needs attention. Just give it to him, and he'll start being nice to her. Right?
Wrong. The next session was when Y/N gave up trying to reel back her natural mouthy-ness by becoming a borderline mute at lunch.
Eddie had let the party into the Hellfire room early so they could come up with a battle strategy. Y/N had been a little late and heard from the other side of the door as Mike exclaimed to the other members, "...and honestly, sometimes I wish I could cast an eternal silence on Y/N so she'd just let someone else get a word in for once and..."
She stood in the doorway, just listening in for a moment. It was technically eavesdropping, but still, she was supposed to already be in the room, and she wasn't. If anything, it was Mike's fault for talking about someone he knew was going to arrive soon. From the little window, she saw as the other boys unpacked their bags and sat down, mostly paying Mike's little ramble no attention, which was comforting.
Yet he continued, "She's probably talking the ears off some unlucky guy that has to hear her drone on and on about... about whatever it is she talks about. I don't even listen anymore. Cause, it's like, is it interesting? No. Do we care? No. Not at all. Would this party be better without her?" He paused. "Who's to say?"
Better off without her? The boys wanted the session to just be that, the boys. That's fine. She'd let them do that. It's not as if Hellfire was the best part of her week or anything. Y/N turned and walked away, making a beeline towards the car park. She didn't want to listen to any more, which also meant that she didn't hear as the other boys disagreed with what Mike said.
Dustin actually smacked Mike around the back of his head and reminded his buddy, "You're doing the exact same thing with Y/N as you did to Max. Just because El isn't here doesn't mean another girl can't be cool and interesting."
"Yeah, Y/N's cool. She bought my lunch today since Daniel Oliver stole my money," Gareth admitted, giving Mike a disapproving look.
"Oh, she did that for me last week," Jeff added. "Then she almost got her ass kicked when she tried to steal it back off Danny-boy."
Since her feet were carrying her faster than her brain could comprehend, Y/N managed to bump into someone as she hurried to her car. Eddie held his arms out to steady her, but she was in no mood to be soothed.
"Hellfire is the other way, Lady Folksworth."
She huffed out, "I know where Hellfire is; thank you very much. I'll-"
"Hey, hey, what's up?" She didn't want to talk. She wanted to go home. She wanted to be quiet, so she didn't answer him for a moment. The silence was broken as she heard him say, "Y/N, what's wrong?" with genuine concern laced in his voice.
"My grandpa just died," she blurted out, not even knowing why she said it. The words were simply leaving her mouth as she felt her lie fall flat.
He knew her better than that. "Which one? The one that's already dead or the other one that's already dead?" He countered, crossing his arms, not believing her lie in the slightest.
Shit. He'd caught her. There were two options in her mind. Go further or change course. "Well, he was like an old guy who was a family friend... you know, he was a non-grandpa," she furthered, walking away from him towards her car. "And I have a headache."
"I'm pretty sure I have an aspirin. Not my usual supply, but I'm bound to have one."
"No...no. I'm fine. Not fine enough to stay. Not that fine, but... I should go."
But there was no way in hell that was going to happen: she wasn't going to get away with these awful fibs. Without having to try too hard, he took a few long strides, making it in front of her in no time and placing his hands on her shoulders to gently push her in the opposite direction.
"Y/N."
"Eddie?"
"Tell me the truth."
Okay. It was time to change course. She used an ancient female tactic that has a tendency to get you out of doing things. Gym. Sex. Chores. All types of shit.
"I'm on my period."
It wasn't exactly a lie either. Maybe that's why Mike's words got to her so much this week? Huh, crazy.
"Ohh," he replied sympathetically, "The offer of painkillers still stands," and just like that, he was being so nice about it. "Name anything, and I'll get it for you. I'll go to the store down the street and be back in no time."
Her heart fluttered. It wasn't every day a boy was so understanding. He didn't even act grossed out by it like they usually did. He actually didn't make a big deal out of it. So, she couldn't help herself and wrapped her arms around his shoulders to give him the biggest, warmest hug she could manage. He hugged her back, closing his eyes to savour the moment.
"You're a good egg," she whispered, squeezing him a smidge. His face was bright red, but that's fine. She wouldn't be able to see it if he buried his face in her hair. "Ed, you can let go now if you want to."
"I don't want to," he chuckled, pulling her tighter to him and refusing to budge. He even started to shift his weight from left to right so they'd begin swaying slowly side to side, making her giggle, which entirely was his intention.
There was something about her giggle that just filled him with an immense sense of joy. It always turned his day around: he felt lighter, happier, and more energetic. It didn't even matter what he was doing. He couldn't understand it. One moment he was feeling listless and miserable. The next, she would start laughing, and then he'd be good and giddy. It was like magic.
Unknowingly, she had been playing with the strand of hair at the nape of his neck, and the moment she realised, she stopped and reminded him, "Hellfire is waiting for their handsome and charismatic Dungeon Master to arrive."
Oh shit. He'd forgotten about that. He'd been so focused on her, he'd forgotten to do his job. It was a serious breach of protocol. But, in this moment, he didn't care. Leaning back so he could see in her face if she lied, he shyly enquired, "You think I'm handsome?"
"Yeah, Ed, I do," she answered seriously, without even the smallest hint of a smirk. It was like she really meant it, and, boy, was he relieved. She really did think he was handsome.
Well shit, his fucking face was heating up again. How the hell did she have this kind of effect on him? And he'd never have guessed that it would've gotten worse as he complimented her back, "Oh, cool. Yeah, that's nice. You're, uh, you're handsome too - I mean pretty. Girls are pretty. I know you're not supposed to call a girl handsome. You're really pretty, Y/N."
Really. Not only was she both handsome and pretty, but she was also 'really pretty'. That last part made him wince a little as he admitted it, but it was worth it for the look on her face. It was the happiest he'd seen her in a while, which made his own face even brighter. It almost made her forget about what Mike had said.
Almost.
She looked away, her lips upturned in a coy grin, but didn't internalise what he'd said. That could wait till later. That could wait until she was in the privacy of her car so she could let out a really unflattering squeal. The urge to do so was increasing every second that she was still in his grasp, so she slowly backed up, innocently letting her hands trail down his shoulders and chest as she moved away.
Bashfully, she tucked some hair behind her ear as she let out, "You can call me handsome if you want to. I don't mind it. Honestly, I was going to say that your hair looked pretty when I saw you this morning, but I didn't want to, I don't know, freak you out or anything."
"You were worried about freaking out the freak?"
"Something like that." She looked down at her shoes for a moment. "Anyway, I better go. See you tomorrow?"
"Yeah, uh... yeah, see you, Y/N."
He watched as she started to walk away, only to turn around and hurry back, claiming, "Oh, I forgot to do this," and kissed him on the cheek. "Thank you for being so sweet."
Blushing, he nervously beamed, "Yeah, oh, yeah, you're welcome. Totally welcome," and couldn't help but distract himself from the fact that his cheek felt like it was burning and his head was spinning over the mere contact of her lips on his skin by focusing on her figure as she made it out of his field of vision and towards the parking lot.
Okay. Okay, he needed to calm down before he arrived in Hellfire. The boys would surely tease him if he turned up looking like a freshly picked tomato. It's always a good idea to make an entrance, and that definitely would throw them off long enough that he could return his focus to his second true love, D&D. Opening the door wide and announcing, "My dear boys, we may be one maiden down, and while Alais's absence will render the dynamic a little askew, she will be sorely missed until the next session, but we must press on. So, boys, it's time."
Eddie immediately sauntered to his chair and waited for his disciples to prepare themselves. He always tried to make his entrances as elaborate as possible. The more attention to where he wanted it to be directed, the better.
Dustin piped up to ask, "Wait, Y/N's not here? I swear she said she was coming earlier."
"She felt ill."
Maybe it was just his imagination, but Eddie swore he heard Mike whisper to himself, "Thank God."
"Anyway, we must press on, gentlemen, without interruption," Eddie said, putting a finger to his lips to still Mike's rising protests.
Despite being one member down, the boys got on with it. Although they could all tell that the party was a little disjointed without their beloved Lady Folksworth. It wasn't that she was the most experienced member, though she might have been the most enthusiastic, but she was the one who kept them on their toes. It wasn't everyday that the Archduke Zariel of Avernus visited the mortal realm. There wasn't a whole lot to prepare for, but somehow, when Y/N was around, it felt like there were a million things to do.
Ultimately, it was a difficult battle (that may have been a slight bit easier if had seven PC's like Eddie had planned), but the boys (Dustin) managed to come up with an ingenious plan to kill the fallen angel and prevent her from returning for now.
The next day, when Gareth and Jeff had walked up to Eddie while he was at his locker, the older boy remarked, "Hellfire last night was quieter, don't you think? It wasn't as high energy as usual."
"That's because Alais was missing," Gareth pointed out, knowing full well that Eddie had been missing Y/N's presence. Even in the session, he seemed a bit preoccupied, a bit concerned if she was okay.
He'd even planned to buy a bunch of stuff she liked and show up unannounced at her house to be like, "Hey! I know I'm a gross, stinky boy and I don't get this period thing, but I hope this helps," but what if her dad were there and just assumed Eddie was making moves on his daughter? Which wouldn't have been completely incorrect. Yet, this was a move out of worry, not lust.
Plus, as soon as the other boys heard, he'd never get away from the teasing. Showing up to Y/N's house with a period care package? That would prove he was totally whipped. Totally. They weren't even dating, and he was completely and utterly wrapped around her finger.
Jeff decided to tease, "I'm sure Eddie was fully aware that Y/N wasn't there to play footsie under the table with him."
"I don't know what you're implying, Jeffrey," Eddie responded dryly. He one hundred percent knew what was being implied. That girl was his favourite thing in the world, and he would have done anything to be with her.
"Well, I'm sure we won't catch you gazing so lovingly at her at lunch again," Gareth said, resting his head on his fist and staring wistfully into the distance as he did his best impression of Eddie.
"Why, fair Y/N, why won't you accept my love? Is it the hair? Should I change it?" Jeff said in an exaggerated, disappointed voice.
Eddie was used to this at this point. He just usually just went along with it, but today he had an update. "I highly doubt it's the hair; she told me she thinks it looks pretty."
"Oooh, did you hear that, Jeff? She said his hair looks pretty."
"I wonder how long we'll be hearing about that one for."
"Remember when she said she liked the shirt he was wearing and he didn't take it off for almost a week?"
Gareth and Jeff burst out laughing. Eddie shrugged it off and turned the conversation back onto Hellfire. What he didn't realise was that Y/N was just about to walk up to him as he declared, "Even though she has a charisma mod of minus two, Alais is a complete chatterbox. That's probably why we could hear ourselves think last night," but she walked away, not wanting to hear if he pulled a Mike.
Mike getting annoyed at her voice was fine. It hurt a little, but she'd get over it. Eddie, on the other hand, that stung. He usually was nice and kind and pretty and sweet and chivalrous and totally cool and out of her league and was great at guitar and had the cutest eyes she'd ever seen, so the thought that she could be annoying him caused her to double down on the quietness thing.
Frankly, if Eddie had said anything actually mean, she would probably start crying and never stop. He was the sweetest guy she knew, and sometimes she felt that there was something going on between them when he would look at her for a second too long, or the amount of times he would force her into hugging him, and they would stay like that for what felt like an eternity, just as he'd done the night before.
Or, if she'd ask for advantage when they were playing, she'd say, "Eddie, if you wanted to be a good, no, a great Dungeon Master, you'd give me advantage right now," in the softest voice she could, and he'd give her that look of 'you know this isn't one of your characters abilities' but would say yes anyway.
As a result, Y/N kept mostly to herself that day. In any of the classes she had with her friends, she said hello and then made it seem like she was intensely interested in whatever the teacher was saying, which wasn't true. Eddie couldn't help but notice how she didn't even say anything other than "Hey" to him the entire day.
Tomorrow came and it was the same. And the day after that. And after that. And then the whole week. He had no idea how long periods lasted, but this was hell. Two weeks went by, and she barely said a word to him.
Actually, he was kind of offended.
It's not like he was planning on asking her to the movies, which they'd done so many times before, but he was going to make it obvious that there was going to be nothing platonic about this invitation. Well, that's what he thought last time they went, yet he didn't manage to follow through.
The moment they had before Hellfire had given him enough of an idea that she could like him. It was a possibility. She'd fucking kissed him, after all. Although it was on the cheek and she could've just been overly friendly and emotional because of, you know, the monthly blood monster. But maybe she liked him? That was a definite possibility.
Now she was ignoring him. You don't ignore somebody you're into. Or do you? Was she playing the hard-to-get move? No. Y/N wouldn't pull that. Would she?
Maybe she knew he liked her and didn't want to upset him when he found out she was going after someone else. That was his exact thought when he 'bumped' into her on the weekend at Family Video and saw her joyfully talking to Steve like she used to with him. She'd looked so happy then, so carefree, as she gestured wildly as she spoke about the movie Clue.
Apparently, Harrington hadn't seen it, so Y/N was giving him a rundown about the Tim Curry flick, telling him all about how Eddie had taken her to go and see it in the cinema the year before. Her laugh was music to his ears, even if it wasn't caused by him.
Very animatedly, she waved the VHS around as she explained, "Yeah, we went back three times because they're were different endings depending on what screening you went to. It was really cool. Each ending had a different killer or killers, I guess because there tended to be multiple, which is kind of genius." Then she put the video down as she almost threw it, which would've been funny, but she'd have to pay for it if it broke.
"Wait, so it's based on the board game?" Steve enquired, resting his hand under his chin as he gazed up at her. "The whole Miss Scarlet in the dining room with the rusty spoon or whatever game?"
Rusty spoon. That definitely should be one of the weapons.
Y/N giggled, confirming, "Yeah, that's the one. In the movie, Miss Scarlet is, well, she's basically a pimp."
"Now I have to see this movie." He leant forward and tried to flirt, "Do you want to..."
No way. Was Harrington flirting with Y/N? That was not happening. Not on Eddie's watch. Sliding in next to her, Eddie wrapped his arm around Y/N's shoulders and squeezed lightly, cheerfully interrupting Steve and greeting, "Funny seeing you here, Lady Folksworth."
Steve immediately stood up straighter, thinking he'd accidentally tried it on with a 'taken' girl. That wasn't his intention. Still....?
"Munson, how are you? How's high school treating you still?"
"It's going swell, Harrington," Eddie retorted, biting back the tone that he wanted to use.
"Think you're going to graduate this year?"
"They do say the third time's a charm."
Staring between the two, Y/N didn't really know what to do or say. She was lost, unsure of how to react to this situation. It was so awkward. She waited for a break in their exchange before lying, "My dad is probably waiting for me in the car. I'll see you two later," and unhooking herself from Eddie's arm. As soon as she was free, she gave them both a wave and began to leave.
Eddie called after her, "You forgot something."
Oh. Was he referring to what she'd forgotten before? He must've, so she made her way back to him and kissed his cheek, expecting that that was the thing he was talking about. Nope. In his hand was the VHS of Clue that she'd left on the counter. He handed it to her with a smug grin.
"Hey, do I get one of those?" Steve joked, earning a swift punch in the arm from Eddie.
"Bye, Steve. Bye, Eddie."
And she was off.
"Why did you get a kiss and I didn't?"
"Why did she say goodbye to you first?"
Actually, what the fuck had he done? He could've sworn he saw her car and not her dad's in the parking lot as he entered. Then again, he hadn't looked hard enough to be sure. Eddie was pretty sure he hadn't done anything to upset her. What if he had? Oh shit, that would suck. That would actually be the worst. The worst of the worst would be if he'd actually upset her and she didn't want to talk to him anymore. If that happened, he would be so royally screwed.
But, no. Nothing out of the ordinary had happened between them.
Steve still asked, "Have you guys fallen out?"
"Me and Y/N? No. I don't think so."
"Are you sure? She left in a hurry as soon as you showed up."
Oh, he thought that too. Fuck, Eddie wished that Steve hadn't pointed it out because now it was out in the open. The words had been said out loud. What the hell was he supposed to do now?
Steve raised his eyebrows. "Are you two... together?"
They weren't, but, "Why do you want to know that?" It was obvious why Steve wanted to know. Eddie's reaction made it clear enough what his true feelings were since he stared at Steve blankly for a few moments before awkwardly shrugging and nervously scratching the back of his neck. The moment he put it together, he whined, "Dude, no."
"What? I haven't even done anything."
"Yet. You haven't done anything yet. Literally any other girl, ask any other girl. Please. I'm begging you. Don't."
God, he felt like such a fucking pussy. He was literally begging Steve Harrington not to ask out the girl he likes. That was how low he was willing to stoop for Y/N.
"But..."
"Just don't."
Harrington hesitated and then said, "Fine." After a moment of silence passed between them, Steve asked, "What are you doing here anyway?"
Robin butted in with "Y/N always comes in at lunch time on a Saturday, and he knows that," and bumped Steve out of the way so she could serve a customer that had been waiting, having been completely ignored by the two boys. "Harrington, are you even going to attempt to do some work?"
With that, Eddie tapped the counter in thought for a moment, his mind swimming with all the possibilities of why Y/N was acting in such a way. She'd claimed it was because of period pain, and not that he knew much about that, but he had a sneaking suspicion that it was something else. She'd been almost mute for two weeks now. Did periods last that long?
Then he said something that he'd never ever expected to come out of his mouth. "Right. I'm off to the library." That wasn't it. He went to the library often because books are fucking expensive. The surprise came when he followed that up with "I've got some biology homework to do."
So that's what he did. He went past the fantasy section, his heart panging as he did so, and straight to the non-fiction area, finding one that was named 'The Female Species' in no time. When he opened it, his eyes immediately went to the illustrations. Yep. That was a pussy. Fucking hell, the things he'd do for Y/N. She better appreciate his research.
At the end of their shift, Eddie re-entered Family Video and went straight up to Robin. "I read in a book that periods usually last five days; is it normal for the girl to be really reserved at that time? The book was very factual about organs and tubes and shit, but didn't have anything about behaviour."
Steve heard and beelined for the back office. Robin blinked at him, her eyes wide, and obviously she was just confused why she was being bombarded with girl talk. So, Eddie continued, "Y/N hasn't been herself lately, you know. I think something's up."
"Just ask her."
"She's avoiding me like that time that I didn't shower for a week and she didn't want to be rude." Robin looked absolutely disgusted, as she should. "Don't look at me like that. Our plumbing broke."
"Alright, alright." She placed all of the cashing-up stuff down on the counter and called for Steve to do it. He wasn't as quick as her (she's got some mad quick addition skills, I know it), but it would have to do for today. "I will ask on Monday."
"What about tomorrow?"
Standing her ground, Robin repeated, "No. I will ask on Monday."
Eddie continued to whine for five minutes straight, hoping that if he threw a tantrum, Robin would give in and, maybe, even immediately go to Y/N's house and find out as soon as she possibly could. But no, Robin was tired and had barely sat down her entire shift. Plus, she had to work tomorrow too, so Monday was the best and only option that she was willing to do.
Monday couldn't come soon enough.
At lunch that day, Robin decided to ask Y/N to sit with her instead of with the Hellfire lot, which was a little weird at first, but she quickly grew comfortable with it. Y/N seemed as talkative as ever as she interacted with Robin and the other members of the marching band. What the hell was Eddie talking about?
From his position at his lunch table, Eddie watched with eagle eyes at the band table to see if there was any possibility of Y/N changing her mind and going back to the Hellfire camp. He caught Robin's gaze, and she just shrugged as if to say, 'You're overreacting.' Was he? Was he just reading into it too deeply? Nope. No way. He knew her better than that. He knew her better than Robin did. He was sure of it.
They shared the same fifth period lesson, and the moment she went to hurry to the next class, he easily lifted her off the ground and made his way to the janitor's closet with her squirming in his arms. They got a few weird looks from the other students, but mostly they were too busy with their own schedules to give too much of a shit.
"Put me down! Edward Anthony Munson, fucking put me down!" She exclaimed, slapping his arm in the hopes he'd stop manhandling her. He did once they were inside. He also made sure that he stood directly in front of the door so she wouldn't be able to leave.
Well, he intended to stay posted up by the door like a German Shepherd, but he quickly noticed that the janitor had a Santana poster and moved to take a closer look with a "Sick. He's got a Shango album poster. You know, it's not my usual type of music, but my uncle loves it," so she took the opportunity to try to weave past him.
Still, she had no chance. He quickly whipped his arm out and managed to wrap his arm around her waist, pulling her up against him.
"Hey!" She protested. Looking up at him, her anger faded as she saw his face, but she still tried to be stern as she asked, "What are you doing?"
It was moments like this that Y/N became fully aware of how much taller than her he was. She was used to it, but it still kind of threw her. If he'd been any other man, she would've been intimidated, but with him, she just found herself drawn to his beauty.
"Eddie, what the hell?" She asked, her cheeks flushing a pretty shade of pink. Damn, he loved the way she looked when she was blushing. It made her eyes go all soft and dreamy. He didn't answer. He just looked at her beautiful face, and his heart melted into a puddle of mush behind his sternum. He was staring at her lips so hard that he was barely able to muster up a response.
But he did. Eventually. Eventually, he blurted out, "Do you not like hanging out with me anymore?" His voice came out quiet and unsure, almost as if it took all of his courage to get the words out - that's because it had. It somehow got even quieter as he said, "Do you not like me anymore, Y/N?"
The soft, pretty pink on her cheeks deepened and her eyes shone like diamonds. All traces of uncertainty were gone, and in its place was shock. She studied his face for a moment, looking for any kind of signs of joking or teasing in his eyes. When she couldn't find anything, she sighed and said, "Of course I like you. What made you think that... that I didn't?"
"Wha- what? Uh, the fact that you haven't said more than two sentences to me all week." He couldn't believe the words that were coming out of his mouth. He didn't know what had come over him. One minute he was fine, and then the next - boom! Out came the sass. He'd never been good at holding in his feelings, especially when he was really into someone.
Not even giving her time to explain, he proclaimed, "And don't give me that crap about being on your period because I read up about that shit and it sounds fucking awful, I will admit, but it doesn't last two fucking weeks, Y/N. You're killing me here, sweetheart."
She couldn't help it. At his words, she let out a boisterous laugh that made his heart skip a beat. He hadn't heard her laugh like that in forever, and it just felt so goddamn good. Cackling, she said, "You read up on periods?"
"I was worried about you, and I don't exactly have a mother to ask about it. Uncle Wayne would've never let me live it down if I asked him."
Lightly, she dropped her forehead to rest on his chest as she tittered. His heart was about to burst out of his chest and into the open air. She lifted her head up off of his chest and looked him dead in the eyes, smiling as she claimed, "You're very sweet, Eds."
Sweet? She called him sweet? Everything in his body felt like it had turned to jelly. It took all of his willpower to keep himself from kissing the hell out of her. She still hadn't told him the actual reason, so he continued on his path of questioning. Putting on his best 'I'm a tough negotiator' face, he declared, "I'm serious, though. What the fuck is going on with you?"
"Is that face supposed to intimidate me into telling you what's wrong?"
Whoops. She gave it away.
"So there is something wrong!" He dramatically took his hands off her and flailed them in the air. "I knew it! I fucking knew it! Robin can fucking suck it."
Like usual, she found his little tantrums humorous, and she just gazed at him with a grin on her face as he continued to wave his arms in the air, swearing his fuzzy head off. It was like he was an overgrown toddler, trying his best to get a reaction out of her, and his efforts were successful as she laughed at him. How are you supposed to not laugh at a fully grown man hysterically jumping around in a confined space, accidently knocking over a mop on his warpath? He stopped for a moment, put it back in its place, then started whining again.
"Why won't you talk to me? This is bullshit. I've only had Dustin to annoy this entire week, which is fun, but I'd prefer to annoy you. I even stooped low enough to try and fuck with Wheeler."
"No, not Mike. How did you survive?"
Slowly, he got closer to her with a smug smile on his face, his eyes narrowing as he raised his hand to accusingly point at her as he began to facetiously complain, "You're laughing at my concern! Honestly, Y/N, I don't know why I do it. I had to look the librarian in the eyes and say, 'Hi, where's the section about pussies? Yeah, my friend has one, and I want to know why its making her act all stupid and shit. Oh, and where's the erotica while we're at it? Might as well add that to my collection too. That will give me something to do while I wait for her to even breathe in my direction!' Well, actually, no, I didn't say that, but I could've. I could've done that. I would've done that."
Swallowing down all her anticipation and nerves, she teased, "Aw, you would've checked out erotica for me?"
"Shut up," he joked, then immediately backtracked, "No, don't shut up. That's the whole thing. Don't shut - you know what? Fuck it, I'm just going to -"
Instead of continuing to ramble, he didn't know what came over him, but he knew it wasn't rational. Maybe it had something to do with the way her lips looked so full and soft. His hand grabbed her by the waist and yanked her forward, pressing their lips together with a hunger he couldn't explain. He didn't remember moving, or if he had, he forgot. One moment he was speaking, and the next, well, the next, all of his senses were focused on her.
A soft sigh escaped her lips, which caused him to smile against her mouth. He couldn't help himself; he couldn't stop smiling at the perfection of it all. Her body was pressed up against his; she was pressed into his chest. All he wanted to do was kiss her for hours. Her lips felt so soft, so sweet, and he couldn't stop touching them and tasting them. Every single part of his body was in tune with hers, and it was an amazing feeling.
There was a break in the kiss as he pulled back slightly to look at her, his hands resting on her hips as he tried to apologise, "Tell me whatever I did wrong and I'll make it up to you. I'll do what -"
"I'm not paid enough to care about this shit."
The pair broke apart, and their heads whipped to look at the newcomer. It was silent for a while as they just stared at the janitor in the hopes that he might magically vanish. "Get out," the janitor said. "Get out before I make sure you two end up in detention."
Detention was not on the cards as Y/N grabbed Eddie's hand and dragged him into the corridor as he still seemed a little dazed. Addressing the janitor, he complimented, "Cool Carlos Santana poster, by the way. That's actually what we went in there to see. Crazy. We heard about it through the grapevine, you know," so she pulled him away before he could say anything else.
"I swear to God, that was so fucking awkward," Y/N laughed, trying to suppress her giggles.
The moment they made it around the first corner they saw, he scanned if any teachers were around and then began to kiss her cheek, gradually making his way down from her cheekbone to her neck, manoeuvring her so her back was against the cold wall and his front was against hers. He nuzzled his face into her neck, inhaling her scent and absorbing it through his skin.
Teasingly, he reared back and came to a compromise: "If you tell me what's going on in that pretty head of yours, I won't leave the biggest hickey I possibly can on your neck. Just imagine how long you'll be grounded for when your parents see that."
"You're not serious."
"Watch me." He lowered his head once again, his lips finding her skin just above her collarbone, before she tugged on his hair to pull him back up. "Start talking."
Taking a breath, she finally explained, "So, I'm trying this thing where I let other people get a word in. We all know that I have a habit of talking a bit too much, and you're probably sick of my voice at thi-"
"What the fuck are you on about?"
His blunt statement made her jump.
She was just about to speak again when a junior, who obviously had a hall pass to use the bathroom, gave them a funny look and walked by without saying a word. Jokingly, she pointed out, "Why did we choose to do this in a public corridor?"
"And she begins avoiding my question once again," he taunted, moving his mouth under her jaw to plant a kiss there. He grinned, smug, and self-assured, and Y/N felt a swell of pride at his confidence. She considered her answer for a few moments, and in that time, his hand slipped from her hip to her lower back, sliding beneath her t-shirt to graze over her bare skin. She loved the way he was so comfortable in their little game.
"Stop," she laughed, but he kept his lips there, pressing against her neck and making her shiver. "Somebody mentioned that I'm a bit of a motormouth, so I decided to reel it back, okay?"
He craned his head back in surprise. "Who?"
"I'm no snitch, Munson."
"Uh, I'd like to know who fucked with my girl. I'm planning on kicking their ass."
Wrapping her arms around his shoulders, she coquetted, "Your girl? Is that what I am now?" And to be super effective, she softly brushed some of his hair behind his ear.
There was no mistaking the pleased grin that curved his lips. He gave her the goofiest, most lovestruck grin possible, declaring that, "Oh yeah, didn't you hear? You have been for a while. Did I forget to mention it?"
"You may have forgotten, yeah. Maybe you did, and I was too busy chatting to notice," she joked, and he chuckled. Her hand moved to his chest, and she felt his heart pound against her palm, his breath quicken, and his body tense. Her smile faltered for a moment as she apologised, "I'm sorry for practically ignoring you for a while."
At her words, his answer was low and sincere. "Yeah, it sucked." He tilted her chin up as she'd moved her focus away from his face, suggesting, "You could always make it up to me by hanging out with me after school and rambling to me about every single thought that pops into your head."
"Eddie, I'm sure you don't really want -"
"You don't get to tell me what I want," he said, and the serious expression returned to his face. He shook his head and kissed her again, this time briefly but with a lot of affection. It was an answer in itself. Against her lips, he mumbled, "Your voice is my favourite sound in the world; don't deprive me of it again or I'll probably go insane."
That made her do the most girlish giggle he’d ever heard.
"Just so you know," he said, "you could read anything to me and I'd be enthralled. You could read the fucking Bible to me, and I'd convert in no time."
Despite the casualness of his statement, it made her realise how truly into her he was and how much he thought she was worth listening to. She loved the way he looked at her, like she was the only girl in the world, the way he thought she was so special. He didn't see her as just another member of Hellfire; he saw her as his girl.
Putting his favourite things together, she offered, "Why don't you come over; we'll smoke, and I'll read The Hobbit to you? My parents are out, so it's up to you."
He'd never heard something so perfect for him in his life. The smile that stretched across his face was absolutely, unarguably perfect. She waited until he'd composed himself before she copied his actions from before and kissed from his cheekbone down, which caused him to shiver slightly and unconsciously put his hand on the back of her head.
Trying to play it cool despite how his body was reacting, he retorted, "What about your cat? Is she in?"
"You'll have to come over to find out."
So he did. He was practically vibrating with anticipation as he pulled his van onto her driveway and didn't even wait for her to get her keys in the front door before he hurried up behind her, grabbing onto her waist and tugging her against him so he could kiss the back of her neck.
The moment she opened the door and pulled him inside, he noticed her cat and beelined towards her. "Hey, stinky," he said, holding the cat in his hands. He looked at Y/N and back to the cat. The theory that all pets look like their owners seemed to be correct, as Y/N's kitten was as cute as she was.
"Don't call my baby stinky," Y/N playfully warned, stroking the cat and leaning down to bump their noses together, causing the cat to lovingly nip at the tip of her nose.
"I can't help it," Eddie replied, holding the cat by the armpits and holding her above his head, wiggling her from side to side, falsely insulting, "Liquorice is just such a gross, ugly cat."
Faking offence, Y/N grabbed the kitten from his hands and cradled it as she began walking to her bedroom, cooing, "Don't listen to the rip-off Van Halen-looking boy, baby. He failed ninth grade English too many times for his opinion to be valid."
Eddie, of course, was hot on her heels as he followed her. "I'm not a boy; I'm a man."
"Whatever you say."
When they made it up to her room, Eddie immediately made himself at home, kicking his shoes off and jumping face first onto her bed. Y/N rolled her eyes and dropped the cat onto her pillow before sitting on the bed to beam as Eddie turned on to his side and pouted, urging her to "Kiss me?"
How could she not? She obliged, leaning in and pressing her lips to his. His reaction was immediate. He eagerly responded to her kiss, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her close, tongue eagerly exploring hers. Y/N was the first to pull back as she felt Liquorice pawing at her arm.
"Oh, sorry, you jealous thing," she joked, giving the cat an equal amount of attention by scratching her belly. She instructed Eddie, "Take over while I find the book."
Liquorice had always liked Eddie, which was weird as she rarely liked anyone. Especially men. But it was as if she saw how kind he was and just went with it when he started to gently run his hands through her fur, purring as he did so.
Reading aloud, "In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat..."
Y/N had found the book and made her way back to her bed, leaning against the headboard as Eddie manoeuvred to sit between her legs, bringing Liquorice to sit in his lap. Together they both said, "It was a hobbit hole, and that means comfort."
Of course he knew that bit off by heart.
Slithering her arms around him, she placed her chin on his shoulder, occasionally giving him a peck on the cheek between paragraphs as she continued reading. He leant back, listening intently as he lit his spliff, taking a few drags before placing it between her lips and dreamily gazing at her as she let the smoke out of her nose like a sexy dragon. A sexy Smaug.
Never had he felt so comfortable. In a relationship or just in general. No matter how many people he'd been with before, there'd never been a moment when he'd ever truly felt like this.
Almost the second before she finished the final paragraph of the first chapter, Liquorice was spooked by a sound from outside and decided that she didn't want any more attention. Y/N called after her, "Do not start a fight with the dog next door," and all the cat seemed to do was narrow her eyes and saunter out of the room.
Finishing the last bit, Y/N declared, "Bilbo went to sleep with that in his ears, and it gave him very uncomfortable dreams. It was long after the break of day when he woke up."
Now that he no longer had a cat on his lap to worry about, Eddie took the book from her hands and set it on her bedside table, turning around to face her as he flirted, "Honestly, whoever told you to shut up must not have taste because I've read that so many times and it never sounded that good before."
The compliment was not lost on her as Y/N giggled, "I swore you fell asleep halfway."
"I was resting my eyes." He leaned in, pressing his lips to hers, only to pull back, looking into her eyes. "You're seriously not going to tell me who?"
"Nope."
Fine. That'll do. He let out a huff, but it was quickly forgotten as she placed her hand on the side of his face, gently ghosting her thumb over his skin as she pressed her lips against his. And that's how they spent most of the evening. Just smooching with the occasional playful bout of taunting.
Over time, it wasn't rare for Eddie to spend all of his free time in the warm comfort of Y/N's bedroom. He lay on his side, leaning over her slightly as she used their intertwined hands to gesture, soaking in all of his focus.
It wasn't long before Eddie pieced together who had made her feel that way. Mike had made some offhanded insult about how long she had been talking, and Y/N looked at Eddie like 'this fucking guy, amiright?', accidently giving it away.
Then Hellfire came, and Mike was very surprised when his PC died only thirty minutes into the session.
Strangely, it seemed as if the DM was personally targeting him.
Who knows why?

Did I Tell You This Already? - a little Steddie drabble
Steve works out he’s in a time loop because Eddie’s listening to a Judas Priest song on his walkman while they’re waiting to take down Vecna. Eddie turns to Steve - it’s just the two of them sitting on the floor of max’s trailer - and Eddie begins to gush about how much he loves it. The first loop, a very stressed, mildly perplexed Steve doesn’t think before he flippantly interrupts Eddie.
“yeah yeah, i know. you told me before,” Steve snips, and Eddie’s face just falls. His brows crease a little in confusion at first, but he shakes it off, hits Steve with a quiet: “Oh. Uh, sorry. I didn’t- sorry.”
Something clenches in Steve’s chest at the softness in Eddie’s words, at the resignation in it. Eddie withdraws for the rest of that loop, pointedly ignores him as much as Steve tries to catch his attention. Steve’s wracked by the memory of Eddie’s dark, round eyes darting downwards, away, and refusing to meet Steve’s own again until the moment he calls out ‘hey, Steve?’ and does exactly what he promised he wouldn’t.
Steve slowly accepts that he’s doomed to repeat that same day, but he makes absolutely sure not to interrupt Eddie again. Steve falls in love with the quirk of his lips and the wild gestures of his hands. He falls in love a little bit too with a band he’s never really even listened to, simply because Eddie loves them. Steve vows to himself that no matter how many times he hears Eddie’s over-excited commentary, no matter how many times he has to return to Dustin clutching Eddie’s lifeless body, he will never ruin that one last perfect moment where Eddie opens up to him. Because one day, after this nightmare is over, Steve hopes he might just get to hear Eddie gush about more than just that one song.

Part two to the fwb series. Angst, mention of Eddie going down on Reader, payback. Eddie is still an ass. 18+ minors go away.
Part one
🖤
Eddie knew you'd be back. You always came back to him, so for the first week or so he didn't take your threat seriously.
Chrissy was back so he'd be fine. He didn't need you, not one bit.
Then it was two weeks that passed, soon turning to three weeks and there was a sliver of doubt inside him that you meant what you said this time.
He's growing restless, but no way is he making the first move. Why should he? You walked out on him, he made his feelings clear on your relationship many times so he didn't know why you didn't listen.
It wasn't his fault. So he was going to ignore this feeling of unrest, wasn't going to go begging for you to come back.
Chrissy being home isn't all it's cracked up to be either. He doesn't know why, he's just sick of the fights between them, growing tired of how hard it is for them to make this relationship work.
He didn't realise how much you took away the tension he felt all them time, tension over him and Chrissy and their deteriorating relationship.
But he was still stubborn that he didn't need you, him and Chrissy would get through this... Wouldn't they?
🖤
When he sees you out and about with Robin it's like a blow to his chest. He doesn't expect it, hasn't seen your in over a month.
Dustin is grinning at you, rushing to give you a hug which you return. Traitor. Eddie thinks annoyed as Dustin gushes to you.
You're super friendly. Well... at least you are to Dustin. In fact you barely acknowledge Eddie one it, nothing more than a cursory nod in his direction.
To say he's miffed is an understatement.
You however don't particularly care, you do however want Eddie to feel exactly how you've felt the last several months. You have a plan and you're anxious to get it underway...
🖤
When there's a knock on his door later that night Eddie is surprised to see it's you, considering your attitude earlier.
He knew you would be back, it's arrogance yes but he knows you, knows you would still want him.
You're in a dress that shows off your curves, every inch of you looks fucking incredible. He's missed your body, your amazing tits.
He feels himself grow hard immediately, doesn't even question when you walk forward and kiss him. Doesn't think you're here for any other reason than you couldn't be without him.
So yeah, he's a little bit smug and he leads you inside.
...
Your moans fill the air in Eddie's trailer as he goes down on you, taking his sweet time as you mewled in pleasure.
You were so wet for him, so responsive to his tongue and fingers, your hand gripping his hair as you come. Legs shaking, a blissful look on your face as you enjoy the orgasm that sweeps over you.
Then you surprise Eddie, you get up and fic your dress. Ignore Eddie's questioning look.
"Where are you going?'' you cock your head as you look at him, your smile sweet but with a cold edge.
"Oh Ed's, I'm doing what you do. Take my pleasure then leave" you say as you put your coat on.
"But... he splutters and you smirk, reapply your lipstick and blow him a kiss.
"You really think I'd just come crawling back to you huh? That you can fuck me around for months and I'd be okay with that" his mind blanks as you go to leave, he scrambles up before you can go.
"What the fuck? You fucking used me" he snaps and you stare cooly at him, unbothered.
"Sucks doesn't it?" you leave without a second glance back at him. Leave Eddie stunned. He was so sure you were back for good.
He was so fucking wrong.

Come Find Me
written for @steddiemicrofic
february prompt: rose | wc: 367 | rated: M | cw: Major Character Death, mentions of injuries & blood | tags: post Vecna, Eddie's dead (or is he??), angst, open/ambiguous ending
The silence is loud here, haunting like the lingering presence of death and non-existence that weighs heavy on his heart. The whole graveyard lies covered under a blanket of blueish-white crystals reflecting the last remaining beams of winter-weak sunlight, slowly being chased away by the gloomy dark of an early evening sky.
Steve feels only a little bit guilty for not telling Robin where he was going, for not asking Dustin if he wanted to come with. But he needed to be selfish just this once, needed to come here alone.
Carefully, he places the single rose from his hands on top of the fake, empty grave in front of him. The dark red colour a deep contrast against the frozen background, like blood on pale skin. Blood dripping out of gushing wounds. Blood on his hands from trying to keep it inside where it belonged, trying to save what couldn’t be saved.
“Hey.”
Steve feels stupid; there’s no one listening to him, not with Eddie’s soul still trapped somewhere in that nightmare place where they left him. Alone but not forgotten.
“Just came here to tell you-”
That I’m sorry.
That I’m so angry.
That I wish I could turn back time and make it right.
That I can’t stop dreaming about you, keep seeing your face, keep hearing your voice so clear, like you’re actually there, and it drives me insane.
“-that we miss you.”
We, not I. Because admitting that out loud won’t bring Eddie back, so he keeps it to himself, locks it up deep down along with the feelings he’ll never get to confess.
Sadness spreads like the night, creeping into his mind like the cold is creeping into his skin when a gust of wind swirls up glistening particles from the ground. They’re dancing in front of his eyes, floating up and around and it’s beautiful, capturing Steve’s attention for as long as it lasts.
When he looks back down, the rose is gone, replaced by three words written into the snow.
COME FIND ME
“Eddie?”
There’s no answer, of course, but for the first time in months Steve feels hopeful, determined.
“I will.”
Sometimes miracles can happen, right?
“I promise.”

<<Previous Part | AO3 | Next Part>>
Eddie had a plan.
Well, not so much a plan… more of a series of events that he hoped whatever deity might be listening and actually bothered to give half a fuck would actually make happen.
Because he was at least eighty… four percent sure Steve had been sending him signals over the last few months.
Months listening to Steve gush about the kids that had recently fallen into his lap, helping Dustin out with his curls for the Snow Ball, or blinking those big sad eyes up at him when he talked about his dad making him get a job somewhere in the new mall so he could understand what real hard work was.
Eddie had scoffed at that.
Like Harrington Sr. knew what real hard work was.
But there had been all these little touches. These lingering looks.
And the blushing.
Eddie prided himself on the fact that he could get the most biteable pink colour to rise in Steve’s cheeks and over his nose with only a couple of words.
All that was to say that Eddie was going fucking crazy with it all and he was pretty sure he wouldn’t be able to survive it much longer.
So he had to do something about it.
Which is what led him here, to Steve’s front door.
Or more accurately Steve’s driveway because he hadn’t worked up the courage to actually step outside his van yet.
But the lights were on and there was no sign of his parents, otherwise he would have turned right around.
So there was nothing left to do other than step out, saunter up to the door, give it three hard knocks, confident knocks, just like he’d planned and hit Steve with his most charming grin.
Once he was inside he’d pull out every stop, lay the flirting on so thick Steve would barely be able to breathe and then, when the time was right, he’d brush a curl behind Steve’s ear and lean in.
Okay so it was a little hopeful, but Eddie was nothing if not an improviser and he was an expert at going with the flow, so on the slim chance that anything went wrong, he could work around it.
He would be getting a kiss today if it killed him.
Or he’d take the rejection if it came, but he was really trying not to dwell on that possibility.
Okay.
Okay.
Eddie took a deep breath and finally stepped out of the van, wiping his sweaty palms on his jeans, though he’d blame that on the muggy late May air.
He was able to deliver those three solid knocks to the door.
After some shuffling and some cursing coming muffled through the door, Steve poked his head out, his face completely draining of colour when he caught sight of Eddie.
Well.
Not off to the best start.
“Eddie.” He breathed, keeping his body hidden behind the door.
“What are you doing here?”
“Is it a bad time?”
Fuck.
Maybe he’d completely misjudged the situation.
“Um…”
“I checked to make sure your parents were gone but…” Eddie let the words fade out as he really took in Steve’s expression.
He looked uncomfortable, tense and a little scared.
“Is everything alright, sweetheart?” The pet name just slipped out, coloured completely by his concern.
That delicious pink colour dusted over Steve’s cheeks again and he stared at Eddie hard, like he was trying to solve a puzzle.
He seemed to come to a decision, his shoulders slumping and a sigh escaping him.
“Everything’s fine, it’s just…” Steve cut himself off with a huff and a groan. “You’re gonna see it eventually, I guess. So will everyone in fucking Hawkins so might as well-”
He disappeared behind the door, a solitary arm coming out to wave Eddie inside.
Screw his plan, something was wrong.
“Whatever it is, Stevie,” he said, stepping inside and turning as the front door clicked closed behind him, “I’m sure we can figure-”
But his words faded away when he finally registered what he was looking at.
There, Steve was standing in all his glory, red faced and trying to look unaffected, a hand on his hip and very determinedly not looking at him.
All the while wearing the most ridiculous and somehow the most salacious little sailors costume Eddie had ever seen in his life.
He was completely struck dumb, openly ogling, openly staring, dragging his eyes up and down Steve’s body, from his strong legs wrapped up in those tiny shorts to the chest hair poking out over the top of the shirt just begging Eddie to bury his fingers in deep and pull.
Steve was fidgeting under his gaze, getting more and more uncomfortable with each passing second until he had to break the silence.
“There’s a fucking hat too.”
Eddie could only absentmindedly nod and mutter, “Is there?” to show he was listening because in all honesty he was on a whole other plane of existence.
“Yeah, it’s fucking…” Steve shook his head, pulling the aforementioned hat out of his pocket and cramming it onto his head with a scowl, waving his hands out as if to say ‘tada’.
There was nothing Eddie could do about it, he could only just keep staring.
It didn’t make any sense?
How did he look so pretty?
Steve always looked pretty but this was pretty dialled up to eleven. This was soft and sweet and giant glittering, puppy dog eyes levels of pretty.
Was there fucking magic woven into the polyester fabric or something? Did that shade of blue just really, really suit him?
What was this sorcery?
“Listen, man. Can you just-” Steve crossed his arms over his chest. “Can you stop staring and just like… make fun of me now so we can get it over with and move on?” He had a little pout on his face, he looked embarrassed and upset and Eddie couldn’t have that.
He stepped forward.
“You look like a Ken doll.”
“Thanks.” Steve replied, sulking, stepping back and looking so uncomfortable Eddie couldn’t stand it.
“Stevie.” Eddie said, almost breathing the word into the scant air between them. When had they gotten so close? Steve jumped like he also hadn’t noticed how close they had gotten, his eyes going wide, flicking down to Eddie’s lips for just a moment before bouncing back up to meet his gaze again. “It’s a good thing.”
Eddie couldn’t help himself anymore, raising a hand to Steve’s chest to drag his fingers through the hair poking out.
He could feel Steve’s rapidfire heartbeat underneath his fingers and he heard the tiny little inhale when he touched bare skin.
Steve was still staring at him, mouth slightly parted. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Like what?” Eddie croaked back.
“Like you want to eat me.”
“Because I do.” He whispered, finally dragging his gaze up from the chest hair to look him in the eye. “Can I?”
Steve nodded.
Eddie dragged his hand down, wrapping his fingers around that stupid little red ascot and used it to pull Steve into him.
In all his planning and all his ideas of how this was going to go, he hadn’t thought that Steve was going to be looking like a walking wet dream.
He also hadn’t expected Steve to be just as eager. He’d expected, hoped, that he’d be just as into it but he thought he’d be shy. Maybe nervous or meek.
He’d been so stupid to think that.
This was Steve Harrington.
King Steve.
While he was pulling Steve towards him by the ascot, Steve’s hands snapped up to grab him by the hair, yanking him forward and they crashed together so forcefully he was pretty sure he cut open the inside of his lip on one of his bottom teeth but he didn’t fucking care.
He was finally kissing Steve Harrington.
His Stevie.
They were both pushing, the two of them manoeuvring and shoving, trying to get the other up against the wall but Eddie won out eventually, crowding him back, a hand at either side of his head, caging him in.
He was licking in, trying to taste every inch he could and almost as soon as his hands landed on the wall, he removed them.
Why the fuck was he touching the wall when Steve was right there?
He dragged his hands down, eventually bringing them around to cup that beautiful ass that he wanted to do terrible things to.
Steve took advantage of the movement, spinning them around until Eddie was the one caged in against the wall now.
Which was… different.
Not bad, but different.
He was always the aggressor but being blanketed completely by Steve, still able to pull him in by the ass was different.
Good, even.
“Like a Ken doll, huh?” Steve hummed against his jaw, grinding up against him.
Eddie could practically hear what Steve was gonna say next.
Does this feel like a Ken doll to you?
But…
Even though he expected it.
Even though he’d heard it before.
The shrill ringing of the phone still came as a surprise.
Steve was still holding him tight, still pressed it close, firm and caring, but his attention had drifted over to a spot on the wall by Eddie’s head.
He only had a few moments, a few seconds more.
Eddie brought his hands up to grasp Steve by the face, turning him back to look him in the eye.
"I love you, you know that?” He almost whispered, feeling that old familiar lump in his throat again, his bottom lip wobbling. “Please tell me you knew that before…"
Steve hit him with a soft smile, winding a hand through his hair, gently pulling him in and cradling him closer into his neck.
That fucking phone was still ringing in his ear, hanging where it shouldn't be, on the wrong wall in the wrong room, teal with a twisted cord.
"I know.” Steve soothed into his hair. “I know because you know. I knew I was loved by you. I've always known."
"Can you-" Eddie took a shuddering inhale, knowing it was futile but needing to try anyway. "Can you stay? For just a minute longer. Don't go yet."
"You know I can't." Steve gave him one last squeeze. "I have to answer this. It’s about Max."
The phone stopped ringing.
Back at the beginning, when all of this apocalypse nonsense started, Eddie wasn’t exactly involved.
Like, yeah. He wasn’t particularly involved before Spring Break either, but the apocalypse had started a couple of weeks after that and Eddie had ended up convalescing all over again because of it.
But this time it was within an infirmary tent in Evacuation Zone C, rather than a fully stocked hospital. The rush to get themselves out of Hawkins and the panic that came with not being sure where the rest of their friends and families were while they ran had meant Eddie, still looking like a demobat chew toy, had pushed himself too far.
He had woken up in the tent, barely exonerated and immediately panicking because while the infirmary wasn’t empty, there wasn’t a single member of the scrappy little Upside Down Fellowship to be seen.
It had only been a few moments later, however, when he heard the familiar voices of both Nancy and Dustin raising holy hell somewhere outside, screaming at some poor soldier about getting back in contact with Agent Stintson, Doctor Owens, his commanding officer if they had to, because they had been told, they had been sworn to that their friends and family would also be evacuated. That their people might be sent to one of the other five Evacuation Zones, but they would do everything within their power to get them all into one place together.
No big surprise then, when that hadn’t happened.
It had apparently been two days already, according to Dustin’s high pitched shrieks and they had heard nothing. He didn’t know where Claudia was, or if she’d even gotten out, Nancy didn’t know where her family was. They didn’t know what had happened to Max, still at Hawkins Memorial Hospital when the apocalypse hit. They had no idea where any of the Sinclair’s were.
Robin.
Steve.
Wayne.
They could be at a different Evacuation Zone. They could be dead. They could be still in Hawkins, now on a militarised quarantine lockdown, no one in or out unless they wanted to go up against a line of soldiers.
Even then, the cracks spreading out like a spiderweb, the vines bursting up through the ground, the demogorgons, the Ghouls mostly deterred anyone looking to break back in.
He could still remember bouncing around in the back of Nancy’s station wagon as she weaved her way at top speed out of Hawkins, black spots in his vision the pain almost unbearable, but not unbearable enough to drown out the sounds of the rest of the town trying to run.
The screaming, the screeching of tires, the crunching of metal as people veered off the road at speed, the sirens, the complete and utter confusion.
It had definitely sounded like an apocalypse.
And it had gotten quiet since.
At least, that was what the rumours were.
From complete chaos, to silence over the last two days.
Which meant anyone still inside… it didn’t bear thinking about.
They just didn’t fucking know.
The only people they thought were maybe, probably safe were the Byers, Hopper and El.
They had all left barely twelve hours before everything went down, travelling back to California to pick up the last of the Byers stuff to move back to Hawkins.
They’d probably barely made it to Tulsa when it happened.
But they were out of Indiana when it hit, they all knew that for sure thanks to a quiet phone call from El when they hit St. Louis.
She hadn’t wanted to go, hadn’t wanted to leave Max’s side. But her stuff was down in California too and she had only agreed to go when Hopper had promised to stick by her side and Jonathan had promised they would stop often so she could call back and check in for any changes to Max’s situation.
They’d only managed one call before everything went to shit.
And like, Eddie wasn’t stupid. Neither were Nancy and Dustin, so when the three of them spoke in hushed voices around Eddie’s little cot in the infirmary tent, they agreed that El’s leaving Hawkins had probably been what spurred Vecna into attacking when he did.
There wasn’t a psychic child in the town anymore to defend it, not that she could have. His attack was vicious, quick, sudden and unexpected.
They all had thought they’d have more recovery time before shit hit the fan.
The three of them had silently agreed to never mention it to her.
If they ever saw her again.
She’d probably figure it out herself and they didn’t want to add to the inevitable guilt.
Eddie had attempted to sneak out of the infirmary on day four of their stay, to join Nancy and Dustin on what would have probably been a suicide mission to sneak back into Hawkins and search for their people themselves.
But he’d been caught, just as Dustin and Nancy were caught not long after.
The only reason the three of them had avoided military detainment for what would have probably been a never ending amount of time, was because Nancy and Dustin had slowly been amassing a small number of loyal followers.
People had started to notice.
People had started to become aware that those two, and Eddie to a lesser extent, had more information than even the soldiers about what the fuck the vines and demogorgons and ghouls were.
And people were starting to get just as pissed off with the lack of information being communicated.
So there was a near schism.
It was clear the military goons hadn’t been told much. They’d just been told to follow orders like good little soldier boys and they had been doing absolutely nothing to quell the frantic questions, anger and growing conspiracy theories amongst those in their Zone.
And while a growing number of people were starting to latch onto Nancy and Dustin as their de facto authority leaders, it wasn’t everyone.
Some people refused to believe anything beyond what they had already decided was the truth.
Be it aliens (incorrect), a government conspiracy (somewhat correct) or Eddie himself (comically incorrect).
Eddie had found himself slipping back into that persona he had perfected in school.
Protector of his sheep.
Though it was slightly more dangerous now than schoolyard bullies, Eddie was also slightly more dangerous than he had been.
And he looked it, too.
Covered in bandages and wounds that were only just starting to heal again, a gnarly chunk of flesh missing from his face and neck that made even the most self-important fucker grimace at the sight of.
Adding onto that, there was a look in his eye now, a steely strength to his shoulders and his jaw that did just as much as a battle vest ever had for sending the middle-classers scattering.
Probably had something to do with him having a fist fight with death and winning.
And the satanist rumours.
They came in handy now. People were wary of him, more than they ever had been.
And that was how he found himself playing guard dog for Nancy fucking Wheeler.
It wasn’t all bad. Those that had a little more common sense than righteous indignation running through their veins were actually starting to come around and… respect him?
It was one of the wildest things to ever happen to him and that was saying something.
He’d been to a whole other fucking dimension, he’d been accused of murder, accused of witchcraft and deals with the devil, but respect from the refugees of Hawkins was still something he never thought he’d have.
Things only continued to get better for them once Wayne turned up.
He was full of fire and spit at being given the runaround from the military in Zone E, insisting they had better things to be doing rather than search for his nephew. One guy amongst hundreds missing or misplaced.
Eddie threw himself at his uncle right there in the main thoroughfare of Zone C and held on like his life had depended on it.
Wayne had clutched at him tight and later, with Eddie tucked under his arm like a scared child, had listened to Nancy and Dustin tell him how he was the first to be found. How the military were effectively stonewalling them. How they knew next to nothing.
It hadn’t been long then, for Wayne to join Dustin and Nancy in what had essentially turned into a coup of authority over the military.
Eddie wasn’t far behind, but the injuries on his neck and face meant he only ever really spoke when he had to, and the impact of that had people listening closely whenever he did.
The arrival of Wayne had reignited all of their hopes that everyone else would show soon, like it was practically a given. Of course the rest of their friends and family would show.
Wayne turning up meant the others couldn’t be far behind, surely, whole and determined and invincible as they all were, as they all had been in the past.
Eddie looked back on those days now with a bitter sort of feeling, wondering how they could have been so naive.
Nancy was the first one to have to deal with the gut punch, telling them all that wasn’t quite true.
When Karen Wheeler was found along with Mike, Holly and the Sinclair parents, they arrived exhausted, emotionally drained and already coming to terms with their losses.
Ted had gotten his wife and his kids out once the hoard descended and had died for his efforts.
The Sinclair parents were alone.
No Lucas. No Erica.
They hadn’t heard from anyone else. They were all just as in the dark as the rest of them.
They had no answers about where everyone else was.
Nancy had been alight with rage that had nowhere to go, apart from barking at military officers.
The Sincair parents remained hopeful for as long as they could, perking up every time new people arrived into Zone C, but that was all dashed every time.
As the weeks slowly passed, Susan Mayfield and Claudia Henderson were found and transferred in.
Dustin clung onto his mom for hours afterward.
Susan was dead eyed and defeated.
No one knew where Max was, if she was still trapped in the hospital she’d last been seen in or if she’d gotten out somehow.
It was highly unlikely.
She’d still been comatose and broken.
If she had woken up at any point… it wasn’t looking good.
The Buckley parents, arriving in the middle of it all, were just as lost, slowly retreating back into themselves.
The military still weren’t giving them any answers.
And it only served to draw more people to their side, the fact that a high school journalist, a drug dealer, and a nerdy kid who spent his time fucking around with his walkie in the hopes he could contact any of his friends were the only ones with any kind of inclination as to what was going on, and any kind of idea of how to move forward.
By the time the Hoppers-Byers turned back up, it was nearly nine months later.
And things had both gotten worse and better by then.
The military had up and abandoned them.
They had woken up one morning in the previous month to find their usual bases a ghost town, equipment left behind, fatigues and weapons and some trucks abandoned.
Communication with the other quarantine zones told them that the same had happened all over.
The military had been pulled out of Indiana completely, leaving them all to be ghoul food.
And so their planning started.
Nancy, Dustin and Eddie had started making plans to collect people, scared and panicked from their quarantine zones, not knowing what to do or who to turn to.
They had a plan set up and ready to go when a truck pulled up to the gates, beaten to hell and barely slowing down.
The gates had slammed open on their own, sending Nancy’s appointed patrolling guard into a frenzy.
The only reason the Hoppers-Byers didn’t end up riddled with bullets was both because of El’s powers and Dustin, Mike and Nancy’s shouts to ‘hold your fire!’
El threw herself from the truck without a care in the world and straight into Dustin and Mike’s arms.
Their elation was short lived, however.
El informed the camp that the cracks were spreading, the vines and demogorgons and ghouls were branching out and it wouldn’t be long before they were overrun.
They needed to abandon camp and they needed to do it now.
The bad news didn’t stop there.
El was being… blocked somehow.
She couldn’t enter the void, she couldn’t even access it anymore.
It was like Vecna had shut her out, like closing off a plane of existence to her.
She could still move things with her mind and that was awesome and Eddie was pretty sure he was just staring at her open-mouthed since she’d blasted the gates open, but she couldn’t search for people any more.
And so, any hope that might have been building that they would have been able to find their missing party members crumbled once again.
While they all came together to plan out a hasty retreat, settling on a small town in the north with a sizable gated community that Karen had been hoping to move to at some point in her life, Dustin refused any input.
Apparently the Party had been aware of Karen’s hope to move and had dubbed the place ‘Rohan’. Years ago, when they were still full of childish whimsy and the worst thing they could think of happening was one of their party members moving forty-five minutes away by car, they had meticulously tracked the way there and back in case they needed to rescue Mike from suburbia.
Dustin put up the mother of all fights, screaming at them all that they had to stay. This was where they were supposed to meet Steve and the rest of the Party. This was where they would have been told to go! They had to stay! They couldn’t leave until they turned up. What if they arrived and everyone had gone?
It was only the darkening and reddening of the clouds in the distance that convinced him it was futile to stay.
But even so, he insisted on leaving a message.
They left a crude spray painted ice cream cone on the stone wall at the entrance with an arrow pointing back to the command center hut.
Inside, they’d ripped all of the maps, diagrams and papers from the walls, needing to take them with them, but that ended up being Dustin’s canvas.
Scoops Troop, Ranger and Red. The week is long, The silver cat feeds, When blue meets yellow in the north, A trip to Rohan sounds nice, If you tread lightly.
None of them knew what the fuck Dustin had just come up with or how that explained anything, but he insisted that it made sense, slamming his compas down on the desk directly below the words and storming out of the hut.
Eddie decided to leave his own memento, just in case. Because as much as he tried to placate Dustin, there was a terrible, horrible little glimmer of hope in his own chest that somehow Steve was still alive and out there, looking for them.
He wrapped his black bandana around the gated entrance, a small sticky note covered in sellotape to protect it from the elements attached:
Come at once if convenient. If inconvenient, come all the same.
Their trek to Rohan was long and winding. They took constant detours to the other evacuation zones, collecting people as they went.
All in all, it was a month later by the time they reached the high walls and gates.
The things that had earned Eddie ire from the good people of society before the apocalypse now seemed to be viewed with respect.
Case and point, the ridiculously rudimentary and hastily applied chain and padlock holding the gates closed and barring them from entrance to the abandoned community was quick work for him, able to leave the lock intact enough to be locked again behind them.
They had swept the place, hoping that they weren’t breaking into some other groups safe haven but it seemed like the richy-riches of Indians had been able to be evacuated much more smoothly than the poor fuckers from Hawkins.
And so, that was where they had settled ever since.
It was where they had set up, what was essentially Hawkins 2.0.
The high walls were constantly patrolled, keeping them safe from ghouls and bandits, they had crops planted, they had a laundry and a water supply from the water tower up the hill.
It was the best they could have ever hoped for.
And even then, their little broken Fellowship always hoped for those figures on the horizon.
But they never came.
Steve’s face was swimming in front of him, beat and battered, smelling of smoke and ash, still dressed in his Scoops uniform, sitting on Eddie’s fucking couch smiling through the pain.
Wayne knelt in front of him, gently dabbing antiseptic over his face.
They were quietly joking with each other, keeping the mood light and all Eddie could do was stand and stare.
Stand and stare in numb shock at the state his boyfriend had appeared in amongst the ambulances and flashing lights outside the mall, waving off Wayne’s attempt to help him walk to the van, Eddie trailing behind, wide eyed and completely helpless.
They had kept up a steady banter, Steve and Wayne while Eddie sat in the back, unable to take his eyes off the caked in, already dried and flaking blood in Steve’s hair, the handprint slowly blooming around his throat, the raw ligature wounds around his wrists.
Nothing about it said fire.
Eddie knew deep in his bones that he would spend the next few hours staring at his uncle and his boyfriend, smiling and laughing with each other through the tension like Steve had just skinned his knee on the basketball court.
He knew after that that he would help Steve wash everything off in the bath, not wanting him to stand in the shower.
He knew that when he saw the mottled bruising skin under his shirt, the cuts and other injuries he could barely even stomach thinking about, he’d have a quiet little breakdown in his bedroom when Steve insisted with what seemed to be his last thread of dignity that he could handle the rest by himself.
He knew that he clung onto Steve throughout the night and the next morning, barely sleeping, unable to stop watching the slow rise and fall of his chest, just making sure that he was still alive.
And as Eddie was shocked into consciousness by the sound of unfamiliar footsteps coming up the stairs towards his bedroom, he knew that whoever had woken him up had saved him from the teal landline phone with a twisted cord appearing on the headboard of Eddie’s bed.
He had barely cracked his eyes open, taking in the reality of the devastatingly empty bed next to him and between one inhale in and the next, he had his hand solidly around his weapon.
He snatched the rifle up from the side of his bed, and had it cocked and pointed at his closed bedroom door as those heavy footfalls kept approaching, survival instinct beaten mercilessly into him.
Though in the back of his head he knew that there was no way a ghoul could have made it up the stairs to his bedroom, there would have been uproar in the streets and he would have been awoken long before, as a line of defence. And in any case, ghouls moved almost silently. They were deadly quiet.
But then, ghouls weren’t the only dangerous things in the world right now.
Sometimes…
Sometimes humans were worse.
Eddie knew the sound of Wayne’s footsteps, he’d grown up with them, he’s spent the majority of his life listening to them and whoever was approaching him right now was not his uncle.
“Hold your fire, Munson!”
Hopper’s voice came through the wall rather than behind the door, almost like he had pressed himself up against it, in case Eddie shot first and asked questions later.
Smart move.
Hopper seemed to understand more than anyone else why Eddie had become so trigger happy recently.
Eddie let out a breath he wasn’t even aware he’d been holding in.
Clicking the safety back on, he placed the rifle back in his lap and called out for Hopper to come in.
“There’s been a drop.” Hopper poked his head in the door, “looks like the government has finally remembered we exist. Let’s go.”

Steve had a secret.
There was a box hidden under his bed that was filled with books, books that held page after page of sketches, drawings, and paintings.
Steve had never shown a single person what he could do, what he had taught himself. He spent years of nights spent filling these pages, then hiding them away never to see the light of day.
He had started when he was four, his then nanny buying him his very first book of blank pages. He had drawn on every single page. Little drawings, drawn by little hands using crayons and pencils. His nanny had loved each one, heaping praise and encouragement. When he had shown his mum, she had only nodded, not looking. But when he showed his father, he had scoffed, told him how ridiculous he was, how he had wasted his time, that his four year old pictures were pathetic and stupid. Steve had spent that night ripping each page to tiny pieces, falling asleep in tears, waking to find them gone, cleaned away by his nanny who simply bought another book, leaving it on his desk.
Steve didn’t touch it, left it blank for years, until the first time his parents had left him alone, no nanny, no babysitter, just himself, he was nine.
That first night, he didn’t sleep, to afraid, to scared of the dark. He had sat on his bed, covers piled up around him, staring at nothing, listening to the silence.
The second night, he did the same until he got up, walked to the desk, pulled out the book of blank pages, and started to draw.
It became his coping mechanisms, drawing night after night, sketching, shading, colouring, and perfecting.
With every book he filled, he would spend time looking through it before storing it away in his box under his bed, never to see the light of day.
As he grew up he became good at what he did, sketching his friends, Tommy, Carol, then the many girls he had taken to his bed, private art, their breast, their hands, their mouth, never the whole of them, just parts, parts he had enjoyed.
When he met Nancy, she filled so many of his pages, her hair, her eyes, her nose, her quirky mouth. He loved her hands, so small and delicate, he had drawn them time and time again, brushing back her hair, holding her books, touching his hand, delved into his hair.
For months she was his obsession.
Then it became the Demogorgon.
The pages became dark, dangerous, gruesome. Blood, and nail bats, fire and bear traps.
He filled so many books with the monsters he had encountered, of Billy, dying, blood covered, and sorry.
He drew the kids, and they all had their own books, Dustin’s was the one that needed two until he met Robin. Robin the light of his light life, the ying to just yang, the soul mate he didn’t know he was looking for. She filled a single book in under week, her smile, her eyes, her hair, and ears. She was the first full portrait he had ever done, a whole page full of her face. He drew her constantly, but he never showed her, not once.
The first time he drew Eddie was after picking Dustin up from a DnD night. He has watched as Dustin had spoken to him, his eyes drawn instantly the curls of his hair, of the way the light had landed on them. That was the first thing he drew, in a new book, in a book that now belonged to Eddie even though Steve hadn’t even spoken to him.
Over the months as Steve picked up Dustin, catching glimpse of the man Dustin now gushed over as he got in the car, he would study different parts, all from a distance and slowly his book of Eddie held parts of him, his eyes, never coloured because Steve wasn’t sure what colour they were. His mouth, so full and always smiling. His hands, covered in rings that shone in the light but held no detail because Steve never got close enough to see.
He filled a whole book of parts of a man he didn’t know, but he couldn’t stop, and why would it matter? No one would know.
The night after the boat house Steve spent the whole night filling page after page with details, of brown chocolate eyes, of fear shown on a full mouth of rings so chunky and metal, a cross a pigs head a skull and a black stone. He placed each one on the right finger, then he drew his second ever full portrait, Eddie lost, sat on a create, looking defeated and scared.
He stared at that picture a lot once finished, his fingers tracing over it as if he wanted to sooth the tension away to make it better.
After that night, he didn’t draw again for a week.
When he finally drew again, it was Vecna, and bats and vines and blood and death.
It was Dustin holding Eddie, it was Max in a hospital bed, it was cracks in the earth, it was Robin smiling, it was Lucas crying, it was Nancy with a shot gun, it was El with her buzzed hair, Mike hugging his mom, Will with his hand to his neck, Erica with a flash light.
It was Eddie, eyes wide, blood on his face, mouth full of it, hands covered in gore. It was another hospital bed, white bandages, and heartbeat lines. It was forming scars and bats still eating.
He counted the following months in sketches of everything that happened, drawings of fighting, hands around guns and Molotov cocktails and when it was all over he sat on his bed watching Eddie flick through page after page after page of books full of everything Steve loved.
After that, Steve drew of Eddie, of his bare back, his hips and scars, his mouth open in pleasure, his hands in Steve’s hair, around his throat, around his dick. He drew Eddie, and he showed him, allowing the sketches to see the light of day for the very first time.

strings attached
(this was supposed to be like a blurb but my brain doesn't like to cooperate with me; it also was not meant to be this tender and soft but i am a Hopelss Romantic so ta da) !!nsfw minors go away!!
also on ao3
steve and eddie hook up twice during steve’s senior year. the first time it’s in the locker room after gym class. they’re alone, and steve sees the way eddie’s eyes linger on his arms as he changes, but when eddie hurriedly apologizes, face flushed, turning away, steve just says it’s cool. i’m not entirely a ladies’ man, you know.
so they end up pressed together, still sweating from gym, jerking each other off as steve slides his hands over the spider on eddie’s chest.
you into tats, harrington?
yeah. they’re cool.
they laugh when they finish, leaning against each other, breathless, giggling deliriously.
the next time it happens, it’s at a party. some random person’s house, unfamiliar to eddie, but he’s made several sales already, so he doesn’t really care that he doesn’t know where anything is. steve catches his eye across the kitchen as eddie is looking for a drink, and eddie promptly forgets that he wants one at all, because steve tilts his head, gesturing somewhere. so he follows steve upstairs from a respectable, unsuspecting distance until steve heads into a spare bedroom.
eddie can’t help but bite at steve’s neck as he grinds against him, sitting on his lap, and he giggles when steve says fuck, take your shirt off.
you really like the tattoos, don’t you?
yes, they’re so— they’re so fucking hot.
he licks the spider. eddie didn’t know he was into that.
they laugh again when they finish.
this was a terrible idea, it’s already getting cold.
personally i think it’s worth it. you can think of me all night.
fuck you, munson.
eddie just laughs again.
they don’t see each other for a while. it’s not a problem. there weren’t any strings attached. it was just fun.
it’s only slightly awkward when dustin, lucas, and mike start to talk about steve at school. obviously eddie doesn’t say anything, but it felt surreal to listen to them gush about how cool and badass steve is, all while his main memories of him include his dick in eddie’s hand and his tongue on eddie’s chest.
they save the world. everyone is okay. at the hospital, steve stays near eddie as he’s getting bandaged. eddie can tell that he’s still hopped up with adrenaline, jumpy and shaking, and eddie is too, and they don’t need to be anymore. everything is fine.
so eddie pulls at his hand when they’re done, giving robin a be right back look as he drags steve out of the room and down the hall until they reach a secluded, empty bathroom.
‘what’s going on?’
eddie pushes him into a stall and locks it, holding steve against the wall.
‘i can tell you’re still freaking out and i need you to not’ he says in a low voice. ‘so i wanna blow you. if that’s okay.’
‘shit. yeah. okay.’ he pauses. ‘if i can do you after.’
eddie kneels with a grin, ignoring the dull ache in his sides. (he thanks god for painkillers.)
‘you got all that adrenaline in your veins, stevie,’ he says, unbuckling steve’s belt. ‘use it. take it out on me.’
‘shit, eddie.’
‘pull my hair,’ eddie says, licking his lips as he tugs steve’s pants down. ‘fuck my face.’
steve groans, reaching down and twisting his fingers into eddie’s hair, catching snags and tangles and tugging. eddie likes the way steve sounds when he takes him into his mouth. his moans echo around room, bouncing off the tile, vibrating through eddie’s fucking bones. he tastes so good, even though they’re both sweaty and gross. eddie doesn’t care.
‘fuck, eddie, baby—’
eddie’s face flushes with heat. steve’s never called him that before. he likes it. he pulls off with a gasp, his chin wet with spit.
‘fuck me, stevie, please.’
‘okay,’ steve says breathlessly, reaching down and holding a hand out. eddie slides his into it, and steve pulls it to his hip firmly. ‘tap if you need me to stop. okay?’
‘yes.’
he grips steve’s hips, but has to let go with one hand to squeeze his own dick so he doesn’t come as steve grips his hair and holds his head in place. eddie’s eyes close as wet, filthy sounds fill the air and he holds his breath, suppressing gags. he’s groaning softly, focusing on the ache of his scalp as steve’s fingers twist and squeeze in his hair. the pain is stronger, better, than the pain of his sides and limbs that are bandaged.
‘fuck, eddie, your fucking mouth, so fucking— so fucking good, love it so much—’
eddie might be ascending. maybe the bats actually killed him and he’s in heaven. (he never thought god would let him in. but crazier things have happened, he guesses, like this: steve harrington fucking his face in the bathroom of a hospital.)
he wishes he could record steve’s loud groans in a loop. maybe use them in a song. (no one would know it’s king steve’s voice, weak and vulnerable and sounding close to tears as he uses eddie’s mouth. no one except eddie.)
‘shit— shit, shit, eddie. eddie, i’m gonna come, fuck— fuck, where do you want it?’
eddie pulls back, gasping for breath, and he holds his mouth open, sticking his tongue out.
steve’s eyes are dark as he comes, groaning, and his fingers thread through eddie’s hair gently, soothing his scalp.
‘so fucking good, shit.’
eddie gives him one last suck before he grins up at him, squeezing his hip. steve is panting, grinning back at him, almost deliriously.
‘stand up,’ he says as he tucks himself back in his pants. ‘get your dick out.”
eddie laughs, pushing himself to stand, pressing a hand to the stall door to steady himself as his vision goes a little dark for a second.
‘take a guy to dinner first, harrington.’
‘later,’ steve mumbles, kneeling. he watches eddie unbuckle his belt almost impatiently, reaching to grip eddie’s thighs until it’s done, and then he take over, unbuttoning and unzipping his jeans.
‘god, it’s like you’re desperate for it,’ eddie says, awestruck, pulling the hem of his shirt up out of the way.
‘i am,’ steve says adamantly. ‘’m so desperate for it, eddie, give it to me please—’
eddie leans back against the wall to keep his knees from buckling as he reaches into his pants to pull his dick out.
‘here, baby, you can have it.’
steve whimpers as he swallows him down, his hands tightening on eddie’s legs, his eyes fluttering, shining.
‘jesus. anyone ever tell you how pretty your eyes are, stevie?’
‘mm-mm.’
‘no?’
steve shakes his head minutely, his lashes fluttering as he does something with his tongue that has eddie weak.
‘’s a fucking tragedy,’ he says breathlessly. ‘you got the prettiest fuckin’ eyes, fucking princess eyes, oh god, steve—’
steve hums, reaching a hand back to squeeze eddie’s ass, his cheeks hallowing as he sucks harder. eddie might be dying. (amazing that this is what takes him out. not demonic bats ravaging his body or an alternate dimension and evil villain, but steve harrington’s mouth.)
‘jesus, who gave you the right?’
steve makes a little questioning noise, raising an eyebrow at him, and eddie scoffs.
‘good with your hands, good with your hips, good with your fuckin’ mouth. frankly it’s unfair.’
steve pulls back, working eddie with a hand. his chin is glistening with fallen spit.
‘you’re funny,’ he says lightly. ‘and also you too.’
‘me too?’
‘good with everything.’ steve kisses eddie’s dick. eddie is breathing hard, weak. ‘you remember at that party? when you sat on my lap?’
‘fuck, yeah.’
steve pauses to slide his tongue across eddie, eyes closed blissfully like he’s enjoying it as much as eddie is.
‘couldn’t stop thinking about… how hot you’d look riding me.’
‘oh, shit.’
steve takes him back into his mouth, humming and squeezing eddie’s ass again.
‘fuck, i want that,’ eddie babbles, holding steve’s head, his fingers in his hair. ‘want that so bad, baby, i want you inside me, want you fuck me. oh, fuck— fuck, i know you’ll be so good to me, stevie, you’ll treat me fucking right, i just— just know it, shit—’
his hands tighten in steve’s hair as he gets closer, and steve closes his eyes, head bobbing, mouth wet, and eddie knows he must be fucking loud, especially in the echoey room, but he can’t hear shit right now. his head is filled with static. beautiful, blissful static.
‘fuck, i’m com— i’m coming. steve. steve. steve.’
steve smiles at him. and swallows.
eddie falls lax against the wall with an exhale, breathing hard, lightheaded. steve tucks him away in his pants and carefully zips, buttons, buckles. eddie wants to cry.
‘holy shit,’ he murmurs. steve falls against him, his forehead pressing into eddie’s neck. eddie hugs him. ‘better?’
‘mhmm. we gotta go back out though.’
‘fuck. i know.’
they don’t move. until eddie feels solid on his feet and he opens his eyes, tugging steve’s hair to make him pull away. his eyes are half-mast, his cheeks and lips red, his hair is… a mess. eddie laughs softly, closing his eyes and turning his face away when steve raises an eyebrow.
‘what’s funny?’
‘…i know we swallowed the evidence, but—’
‘gross.’
‘you did it too. you liked it.’
‘…mm.’
‘but you look like you just got fucked.’
‘yeah?’ he seems too happy about it.
‘you’ve got bad sex hair, man.’
‘you are not allowed to call me man after we fuck, eddie.’
eddie grins, amused, running a hand through steve’s hair.
‘sorry, sweetheart.’
steve stares, his (princess) eyes flickering over eddie’s face, glancing at his lips.
‘’s better.’
eddie wants to kiss him. but he doesn’t. not now.
steve goes to the sink to check himself in the mirror, and eddie follows after him, like it hurts to be away from him, like they’re attached by a string.
they both do their best to run their hair under the sinks, using paper towels to dry the ends so they’re not dripping. steve washes his face in the sink, and eddie watches as he dries his face and hands.
‘you’re so pretty.’
steve meets his eyes in the mirror. he smiles.
no one notices them come back into the waiting room, except nancy. she meets eddie’s eyes and presses her lips together, looking him up and down and glancing at steve (who doesn’t notice, sitting heavily in a chair and sighing softly) with a raised eyebrow. eddie shrugs (what?) but she just tilts her head, narrowing her eyes (don’t bother lying.) he sticks his tongue out at her. and sits next to steve. their feet touch. neither of them move.
everyone goes home. dustins mom picks him up from the hospital but he goes home with the sinclairs. max goes with them too. robin goes with nancy. eddie watches as steve says goodbye to them all.
eddie goes with steve. for now, it’s the safest place he can go. his dropped charges are being sorted out, but it isn’t safe for him to go to wayne’s new place. (it isn’t safe for wayne to know where he is at all yet. yet.)
steve microwaves some tv dinners for eddie and himself. they eat sitting on the dining table in steve’s mansion, talking and laughing and making fun of each other before steve takes him upstairs to the guest room. there’s a bathroom in it. steve has to show him how to turn on the shower and change the temperature, and then he kneels on the floor again, carefully removing eddie's bandages, telling him there's a first aid kit downstairs. i'll fix you up after your shower.
the shower is nice. really fucking nice. the water hits his back in a hard, steady stream, and the steam smells the expensive soap that's sitting on a little shelf in the wall. eddie probably uses too much of it. oh well.
steve's hair is wet when eddie goes to meet him downstairs. only one of his wounds is bleeding, a little bit, and eddie's hand is cupped under it so he doesn't stain the carpet. steve tells him it doesn't really matter. it's fine for eddie to leave his mark in the harrington house.
he gets him a spare toothbrush and toothpaste. eddie goes to bed in the spare bedroom after they say goodnight. that they'll see everyone tomorrow.
it's too quiet.
eddie thought the trailer park was quiet, but he'd just gotten used to the sounds of doors squeaking open and shut, of his neighbors taking their trash out at night, of music bleeding through doors and across the street. steve's house is in the woods, away from everything. eddie can hear his own heartbeat in his ears. he can hear the house settling, random, quiet creeks making his bones ache with some kind of terrified anticipation.
he sits up after a while, wincing. his room is too dark to see anything, so he stares into the darkness, bringing the end of his comforter up to his face and inhaling. it smells vaguely like steve. like the whole house smells. he can't quite tell what it's missing. maybe steve uses some kind of cologne that wouldn't linger around the house.
the comforter doesn't help much. he's almost shaking, listening to his own breaths, and he feels like he might panic. so he gets up, flicking on the lamp and quietly creeping down the hall until he reaches steve's room. he knocks as softly as he can, already feeling guilty for waking him up, but when steve says eddies name, he sounds awake.
'hi. sorry.'
'are you okay?'
'yeah, no, i just... i just kind of, uhm. i don't know.'
'...come here.'
eddie closes the door behind himself. steves room is on the other side of the house than the guest room, and the moonlight can peer through his window, shining streaks of silver across the hideous wallpaper.
steve holds his blanket up for him, and eddie, his cheeks warm, climbs in next to him.
'nightmare?' steve asks quietly. theyre not touching, just laying side by side under the blankets, looking up at the ceiling.
'no,' eddie breathes. 'couldn't fall asleep. 's too quiet here.'
'yeah,' steve says like he knows. 'fucks with my head sometimes.'
eddie sighs. steve sighs. neither of them falls asleep.
eddie moves closer.
'can i tell you something?' he whispers. he doesn't know why he's talking, why he's telling steve this when no one is supposed to know this. not even steve.
'yeah. 'course.'
theyre whispering even though there's no one around, even though they're in the middle of the woods, even though they could be screaming no one would know. steve's voice is so soft eddie can almost feel it, warm on his skin like sunlight.
'...i think i'm falling for you.'
steve is quiet. for a long stretch of time. until—
'that's cool.'
'steve.'
'it's cool, eddie. it's...' he's quiet for another moment. 'it's really cool.'
eddie debates what to say, his eyes burning, but then steve's hand brushes his under the blanket.
'it's cool,' steve repeats, whispering.
'oh,' eddie breathes.
their fingers lace slowly, and then steve is doing this thing, brushing his thumb back and forth over eddie's skin, and eddie wants to fucking sob, because he didn't know he wanted this so fucking badly. but he doesn't know what he'd do if he didn't have steve's hand in his.
after a few minutes, steve pulls his hand away and eddie wants to cry again, but steve just moves closer, lifting his arm to wrap around eddie, murmuring for him to come closer, and then eddie is laying on his chest, steve's arms strong around him.
'i never thanked you,' eddie says softly, rubbing his cheek against steve's chest.
'for what?'
'coming back for dustin and me. even though that wasn't in the plan.'
'i had a bad feeling.'
'thank you.'
steve takes a slow breath. eddie feels his chest rise and fall, and he closes his eyes.
'im so glad you're okay.'
eddie hums, sighing.
'me too.'
steves arms tighten around him, one hand sliding up into eddie's now dry and frizzy curls, his fingers twisting in them and tugging lightly in a way that makes eddie melt against him even more.
'stevie,' he says, almost whimpering.
'mhmm.'
'can i...' he cuts off, taking a breath, hesitating.
'can you...' steve prompts gently.
'fuck. can i kiss you? please? i...'
steve pulls at his hair, exhaling sharply.
'yes. yes, come here, eddie, please, i need it.'
eddie scrambles to sit up, kneeling next to steve and leaning over him. his hair falls around their faces like a curtain, and steve reaches up to push it back, holding eddie's head in his head as he struggles to sit up to meet him. eddie puts his hands on steve's chest.
he leans down, brushing their lips together, inhaling as steve exhales, like he's stealing his very breath.
he squeezes his eyes shut when they finally kiss. steve is so gentle. so careful. like the bats got to eddie's lips too.
steve tastes like mint toothpaste. his fingertips are light on eddie's skin, brushing over his cheeks, behind his ears, over the sides of his neck, and eddie wishes they'd done this that first day, in the locker room, because this might have been what he's been missing this whole time. it's so good.
'jesus, stevie.'
steve pulls him back down, kissing him desperately, sucking on his lip, and eddie's never been kissed like this before. so carefully, so tenderly. eddie moves to lay down again, his head resting on steve's shoulder, but steve doesn't pull away. his arm wraps around eddie's neck, his fingers playing with the ends of his hair, and eddie wraps an arm around his waist, humming breathily as steve's teeth tease his lip.
they kiss until eddie's lips are sore. until his lips are slick with spit and he's breathless,
when they finally part, eddie exhales, smiling.
'woah.'
steve laughs softly, pulling eddie closer until eddie's face presses to his chest.
''s nice,' steve murmurs. he kisses the top of eddie's head.
'youre nice.'
'go to sleep, baby.'
'okay.'
he closes his eyes and slips a hand under the hem of steve's t-shirt to press to his warm skin. he sighs, pressing closer, still smiling absently, because he just kissed steve harrington (for a while), and the world is saved, and all his friends are okay, and his charges are going to get dropped, and then he's going to be able to see wayne and his friends from school, and everything is okay.
it's still almost silent when he starts to drift off, but he can feel every breath that steve takes, every rise and fall of his chest, and he can hear steve's heartbeat, can feel it right against his cheek. he falls asleep.

i think ppl give the parents a lot of 'acceptance' credit considering how happily they all just kinda jumped on the 'we hate Eddie' train without any actual evidence.
all they had was the police saying he was a suspect, and stereotypes.
He had Erica "Just the Facts!!" Sinclair calling it bullshit, that alone would have had me going hm. Maybe we should look at this a little closer, yeah?
We give them a lot of credit, especially Claudia. I always see her as very accepting, very accomodating, always welcoming the queer kids in with open arms, love, and acceptance, but i can also very easily imagine her going along with the crowd, adopting the popular choice to judge, to be against them, instead of thinking for herself.
like i can imagine Dustin has spent a lot of time rambling about Eddie, i bet he's probably gushed about this really cool older student who took him, Mike, and Lucas in at the start of the year and kept them safe, let them play with his group, Dustin's a talkative kid, she just... doesnt seem to have listened.
doesnt seem to have formed an opinion on who Eddie might be as a person.
idk, I think there should be more 'maybe she's not as safe as we assume she might be' takes. Even though they suck to think about, some people just arent safe, and you can never tell who the those people are gonna be.

Saving My Rebel//Eddie MunsonxReader
Chapter 3
When you got home later that day your little brother was sitting in the living room. “Hey champ, where are mom and dad?” He shrugged before turning down the volume on his cartoons. “Hey sissy, who was that boy on the news earlier?”
You tensed before sighing, setting your bag down and sitting next to your brother. You wrapped an arm around his shoulders and pulled him into a hug before scruffing his hair, he giggled before settling into the embrace. “He’s an old friend of mine. He’s in some trouble right now.” You sighed, pushing a hand through your hair.
“Oh, is it serious trouble??” You paused, looking into your brother’s eyes before nodding. “Yeah bud, it is.” As you were about to explain, your mother walked in. “Toby, go to your room. I need to talk to your sister.”
You took a deep breath, squeezing your brother before letting him go to his room. You stood up and walked around the couch. You grabbed the small bag of snacks you had gone and bought as a diversion for why you left. “So where did you run to in a hurry this morning?” Your mother asked. “Went to go see some friends, we just walked around for a bit and ate some snacks. Had extra.” You finished your fake story by lifting the bag.
“So can I go to my room or do we need to have a formal meeting?”
Your mother scoffed and waved you off.
Before you knew it it was closing time and you were more than eager to leave. You had gotten Eddie a burger, a beer, some chips, and your small bag of weed that you saved for special occasions. You got your coworker to fully close for you so you were able to run out of there immediately. You got back to the shed and you noticed another car. Your brain went into panic mode and you immediately jumped from your car. You ran towards the shed and slammed the door open. After that there were many loud noises. Yelling and many hands began flailing but your eyes met Eddie’s and you suddenly felt calm again.
“Guys guys guys it’s ok!” Eddie yelled, flailing his arms into the fest of people around him. The tallest, a boy with quite a bit of hair, was the first to calm down.
He turned to a smaller kid with a dorky hat and lots of curly hair. “Dustin shut up, someone might hear.” He gently smacked the boy’s arm to shut him up. The boy called Dustin stopped talking and sighed, beginning to pace with a red head girl. You looked at the other people before resting your eyes on Robin. “Oh my god. Robin?!” You exclaim at the girl and she smiled.
“Y/N!?” She replied and came to you, hugging you.
The boy with the hair commented, “Uh.. does anyone want to explain who this mystery chick is?”
Robin scoffed as she let go of you. “Shut up Harrington, you should remember her! It’s Y/N! Y/N L/N, she was the punk girl with the crazy hair and the band shirts!” You gushed at her description and put up a hand in protest before shaking your head. “It’s cool dude, I don’t really remember you either…” You said and shrugged.
He looked slightly offended before Dustin began again.
“Hey I’m all for the reunion but we need to get back to Eddie’s story.”
Steve sighed and nodded, turning back to Eddie who was standing right in front of one of those shitty crates they store milk in. He looked a bit pale when Dustin mentioned talking about what happened again.
Soon you found yourself sitting next to Dustin, listening to Eddie and then listening to Dustin about some crazy conspiracy theory about Hawkins.
“Woah woah woah. What do you mean that it’s not that far off when people say Hawkins is cursed… Like demons and possessed people and shit? Or like zombies and shit.”
The red head shrugged and looked at Dustin, Dustin nodded slowly and you looked at Eddie. You and Eddie just stared at each other for a minute before you heard Steve talk again. “Listen, it's late and we can’t do anything right now. We’ll figure out more with this Vecna creep tomorrow. We’ll bring you food too.” He motioned to Eddie when he said you.
You nodded slowly, “I’ll stay for a bit longer, brought him food anyways.”
The others nodded, grabbing their stuff and leaving the shed. You scooted yourself over to Eddie once they left and gently placed your hand on his hand. “How are you feeling dude?” You said sympathetically.
Eddie grasped onto your hand and stared forward. He was less tense than when you first found him but he was definitely scared. You gripped his hand, intertwining your fingers with his. His attention was snapped away from his thoughts and he looked at you. He sighed and nodded. “Yeah I guess… definitely a little jumpy.” Soon he looked down at your hands. He smirked. “You getting soft on me?” He chuckled and you rolled your eyes. “You were the one that grabbed my hand dorkus.”
You stood and grabbed the bag from your work. “I have your food, you should eat.”
He sighed and nodded, pushing himself up from his own knees. “Grabbed your favorite. I originally brought some weed too but I don’t think being high will help now.. I don’t want you to get in trouble.” He nodded as he unwrapped the burger, devouring it like a wild animal.
You stood by the window, looking out into the dark.
“When do you want me to leave?” Eddie looked up, his mouth full.
“You’re leaving?” He said with a few flakes of bun leaping out. You cringed, “keep your mouth shut freakazoid!” You said, smiling after.
He swallowed, drinking some of the beer you brought him and wiping his mouth.
“I just didn’t think you’d leave..” He said gently.
You met his eyes and your heart melted. You tugged on your Metallica shirt and cleared your throat.
“Well I just thought I should leave… I mean you don’t need or want me to.”
The silence grew and Eddie met your eyes. You looked away, heat growing on your cheeks.
“Please don’t uh.. Don’t leave.” He lost your eyes then, wandering down to the floor as he spoke.
You slowly nod and look away from the window. “Yes I’ll stay. Mom can deal.” You said, looking at Eddie and smiling.
He smiled weakly and moved back to the canoe. He had finished the food and seemed to be ready to hide again. You moved to him as well, grabbing some of the camping gear that laid in the old shack. Eddie watched you with a close eye.
“You can sleep in the canoe, I’ll sleep on the ground Y/N” He offered.
You looked up and laughed. “How about we share the canoe?” You didn’t want to make him sleep on the ground after the shit he saw. Eddie stared at you long and hard. He didn’t know what to say in response. He hadn’t exactly been that physically close to you just about ever and you were, well Harrington would’ve put it better but a total babe.
He smirked, “you just trying to sleep with me Y/N”
Your face turned red and you threw the camping blanket at him.
“Oh shut up Munson! Forget I suggested it!” You mumbled and began to move off.
Suddenly you felt him grab your arm and pull you back. “I was joking. I’d like that a lot.” He said.
Soon you found yourself laying on him, your head against his chest. You could feel your heart pounding against your chest but soon Eddie began to hum. His hands combed through your hair. And soon you fell into a gentle sleep.

While obviously Will loves his brother more than anyone in the party his other favorite adult is Robin. She just absolutely gets him, and he gets her. Will describes their friendship the way Dustin and Max describe their relationship with Steve. Their favorite thing to do is go to all the art house movies nobody else in Hawkins cares about so basically they get the whole theater to themselves and can talk freely about it and the gay subtext that is either there or they completely make up for funsies. Most days Steve will slip a little money in her bag for lunch, not knowing she brings pack lunch, Robin doesn’t say anything and she uses that money for the movie tickets. Telling Will it’s best friendship tax for listening to him pine/gush about Eddie constantly.

I have stranger things brainrot so have some fruity four headcanons (there’s a lot, so sorry)
- Steve’s parents made him learn piano, mostly as a show of wealth. They made him learn classical, but when he started teaching himself songs he liked, they stopped paying for lessons
- Wayne bought Eddie his first guitar (Wayne likes country or folk rock music, so that’s what Eddie learned to play in his early years)
- Robin collects rocks, if she’s out you can bet on her having at least 3 in her pockets at all times. She gifts them to people (Nancy keeps them all in a special Robin box)
- Nancy tells everyone her favourite book genre is mystery, it’s actually romance. She steals books from her mom
- Steve can sing, not insanely well, but good enough to surprise people. His parents never let him though, so he’s self conscious about it. But if he’s drunk enough he’ll sing along to his music
- to add onto the above head cannon, he’ll sing El lullaby’s if she isn’t feeling good
- Nancy gives Eddie hair care tips. She even takes him to get a perm in secret, he forgets he can’t get it wet and ruins it within 5 hours (she took pictures though, somehow Steve gets them all)
- Everyone borrows Nancy’s makeup. She pretends it bothers her, but she starts buying extra so there’s always enough (Steve uses lipgloss for the first time and Eddie snorts pop out his nose when he sees)
- Robin has bad sensory issues (canon) so Nancy finds her clothes that don’t irritate her, and gives her the idea to flip her socks inside out so the seams won’t bother her
- Robin loves listening to Nancy talk about her journalism stories. She always asks about them, and even suggests issues for Nancy to look into
- Nancy hates pickles. They’re not Robins favourite but sometimes she doesn’t mind them. Nancy gets so happy to finally have someone to take her pickles, Robin doesn’t have to heart to tell Nancy she’s getting sick of them
- Dustin gets Steve a mug with ‘best big brother’ written on it. Steve cries
- Eddie makes fun of Steve’s fancy hair care products. But he uses them once and they make his hair feel and look great, so he secretly buys the same products for home. He denies it vehemently
- after the Russian interrogation, getting high gives Steve panic attacks. He tried smoking with Eddie after Vecna, and Eddie held him through the panic attack. Eddie was extra careful with labeling his edible treats after that
- Nancy puts ads for Corroded Coffin concerts in any paper she works for, the crowds are always a little bigger after that
- Robin and Steve make corroded coffin shirt for the fruity four. They’re pretty horrible, but Eddie loves them. Asks for more for the rest of the band
- Eddie LOVES ketchup. Almost to a gross degree
- Robin and Eddie flirt very obnoxiously with each other in public. They think it’s hilarious
- Steve and Robin tell everyone they’re actually cousins just to get the dating rumours to stop. They swear Jason said ‘so what?’ after hearing this
- Eddie and Nancy start hanging out more, at first Nancy was helping him study but they actually got along great. Once Steve asked what they talk about and they both said ‘you’. They call themselves the ‘Steve’s type squad’ (they actually gush over a romance series they both read. Eddie would rather die than admit this)

A/N: To my yearly valentines, Happy Valentine’s Day!

“It’s Valentine’s Day soon,” Dustin Henderson says, putting his tray down on the lunch table. “What are your plans, gentlemen?”
“I’ll probably try giving Max some chocolates or flowers. I don’t know what she really likes,” Lucas replied. “I think a new cassette tape?”
“Hm,” Dustin nodded, and then looked at Mike for his input.
“I mean, my girlfriend is in California,” he shrugged. “I’ll probably send her a letter.”
Eddie listened in as everybody talked about their Valentine’s plans. Gareth was planning on asking someone out. Jeff was taking somebody to the movies.
“You’re all so lame,” Dustin groaned, taking a spoonful of his chocolate pudding. “I’m going to build a small radio system for my Suzie. It will play all her favorite songs all night long,”
“Turn around…look at what you see,” Lucas teased, earning a shove from Dustin.
“Is that even possible? She’ll probably get sick of you, dude,” Gareth chimed in.
“Not my Suzie-poo. She loves stuff like this. Radios, technology, and all that,” Dustin replied. “It will be perfect and I will be the best boyfriend ever,”
“Nope, not gonna happen,” Jeff chimed in. “Eddie here prides himself as the best one, hm?”
“You have a girlfriend?”
“Who’s your girlfriend?”
“Do we know her?”
Questions from his juniors floated around the air and Eddie chuckled.
“Yes, if you’re so curious,” he told them.
“But we’ve never seen her,” Gareth added. “We don’t even know her name,”
“Well, what are you doing for Valentine’s Day?” Dustin asked.
“Nothing,” Eddie shrugged, his eyes confused. “Valentine’s day is just a fake holiday Hallmark made up to increase sales,” Upon the disbelief on his friend’s faces, Eddie continued. “Besides, she’s not that kind of girl. She doesn’t like holidays.”
“I’m so excited for Valentines,” you gushed to Robin. “Eddie’s so sweet, I know he’ll do something. Obviously, I don’t expect something grand or whatever but you know, it would be nice to go to the movies or have a dinner date,”
Robin still couldn’t believe that one of her best friends was dating Eddie Munson. According to you, you met Eddie at work. You were busy shelving the latest-released books when he came up to you, asking for any stocks of The Lord of the Rings. You told him you’ll take him there and you did and then, he took you out on a date.
Being a reader, you were such a romantic at heart. You’d have no problem reading the day away as long as it was a romance book. Eddie would always groan but you knew that he never minded. In fact, you both loved to spend the day reading together in your room, in their trailer, or somewhere else. You loved big gestures and small gestures—you loved how romantic and silly Eddie is. He’d hold your hand at the mall and surprise you with flowers. You loved it all and Valentine’s Day, when every single mushy thing was allowed, was your favourite.
“Hm, I wonder what to get for Eddie,” you mused. “He’s been looking at this dice set that had a matching guitar pick. Should I get that? It has the detailing of his guitar,”
“That sounds nice,” Robin replied. “What are you getting for me? It’s galentines too, you know,”
“It’s a secret,” you said. Every year, on the fifteenth, you, Robin, and Nancy would hold what was called a “Galentines” when you spend the night over at home with chocolates and ice cream. You’d end the night with gifts for each other and it was another tradition that you looked forward to.
“Fine, fine,” Robin said. “Can’t believe I’m spending another Valentine’s Day single,”
“Or…you can ask a pretty girlie named Vickie,” you teased.
“Ugh, no! Vickie doesn’t like boobs,” Robin complained.
“But Steve said—“
“Steve doesn’t know anything!” she said. “Trust me. Vickie likes lots of things except boobs,”
-
“Eddie!” you squealed, caught by surprise as you opened your car. You felt his familiar curls and warmth behind you, wrapped around you. He chuckled, kissing your head before detaching himself. “Are you coming along with me?”
“No,” he shook his head. “I saw you just as I was about to enter the building and decided to say hi,”
“Hi,” you greeted, smiling up at him.
“Hi, baby,” he replied, kissing your forehead. You raised your head higher, towards him and he chuckled before pecking your lips lightly. “Well, I gotta go. The boys are waiting for me,”
“Bye, Eddie!” you said. “I’ll call you later okay?”
“Yeah,” he said before running off, warmth flooding your chest. You couldn’t help it but you were sure that Eddie was going to surprise you for Valentine’s Day. It was your first Valentine’s together and it was so important for you to let him feel loved. The matching dice and pick was heavy in your purse and you drove off to the next store.
You arrived at a record store just outside of Hawkins. You had the manager, Piper, help you with a playlist you’ve carefully curated for Eddie. She sometimes accepted playlist commissions, personalising multiple playlists for people. You were lucky that you found her, she was very hands-on and passionate about music.
“Hey, kid,” she greeted, a smile on her face. “Here to get Eddie’s mixtape?”
“Yeah,” you nodded. Excitement showed itself on your face as she unwrapped a special cassette before you. On it was a sticker of Eddie’s Hellfire design stuck on the plastic. Instead of dice and flames, Piper opted for pink and red hearts—something that reminded her of you.
“Piper, this is so beautiful,” you gasped. On the back of the cassette was your name and Eddie’s. It was beautiful and you were so excited to see Eddie’s face light up. You paid her and left the store, going to the local supermarket to buy chocolates and candies for your boyfriend. You even bought heart-shaped chocolates and biscuits for Steve, Wayne, Mike, Dustin, Max, and Lucas. Robin and Nancy’s gifts were already tucked away separately in your home.
At home, you poured your entire time on cutting up hearts and wrapping the gifts in themed wrapping papers. You added a note on each of them, looking forward to giving them to your friends on Monday, Valentine’s Day.
-
Monday comes and you smile at the plate of heart-shaped pancakes your mom made for you.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, sweetheart,” she greeted, kissing the side of your head. “Dad and I are going to have a lovely dinner tonight. What are your plans with Eddie?” she asked before sitting beside you.
“I don’t know but I’m so excited. He’s been acting suspicious lately and I know it’s a surprise,” you said, telling her about the time when you saw Eddie rush to the mall.
“Whatever it is, I’m so excited to hear all about it!” she said. “Except for the parts I don’t want to know, of course.”
“Mom!” you groaned. “It’s nothing like that, I promise,”
“Okay, okay!” she laughed and you chuckled. Maybe the reason why you loved Valentine’s Day so much was because of how your parents celebrated it. Your mom always made heart-shaped pancakes with berry syrup in the morning. She and your dad would have a special Valentine’s day gift for you. It was always a great time when you watched them reveal their gifts for each other. A watch that your dad liked. A cooking class that they’ve been eyeing. It was always heartwarming and you knew that it was something you wanted to share with Eddie.
You were bummed because Eddie didn’t pick you up but it was fine. He didn’t have to do it all the time…it’s just that it was Valentine’s Day.
Walking in the school corridor, you smiled when Nancy linked her arms with yours.
“Happy Valentines!” she greeted. “Where to?”
“My locker! I’ll get some stuff for the next subjects. You?”
“Going with you,” she replied. “I wonder what Eddie has up on his sleeve for Valentine’s. How are you guys spending it?”
“I don’t know yet,” you told her. “He’s so secretive about it,”
“Really?” Nancy asked. “Maybe he has some big surprise for you! I’m so excited to see all of it,”
“You think so?”
“I know so,” she shrugged. “Eddie adores you. There’s nothing that man won’t do to make you happy,”
“How about you and Jonathan? How are you guys spending it?” you asked.
“I’ll call him later,” you heard her say.”But he sent a package of pictures that he collected over the years, some chocolates, and a sweet note! I’ll let you read them tomorrow,”
“Nancy! That’s so sweet,” you gushed. You stopped in front of your locker, bracing yourself for a letter that could fall when you opened it. You breathed as you unlocked it, shoulders falling when you found that it was empty. No roses, chocolates, or a sweet note. Come to think of it, Eddie didn’t wait for you by the door.
“Don’t worry,” Nancy said upon seeing your crestfallen expression. “I’m sure there’s something,”
“Y-yeah,”
-
You watched as couples celebrated by surprising each other during lunch time. Eddie seemed to be determined to ignore you for the rest of the day but you brushed it off—maybe there’s a surprise.
Meanwhile, Eddie looked puzzled. In front of him, Dustin, Lucas, and Mike were all rushing to get wrapped gifts from their pockets.
“Dude! Your gift sucks,” Dustin snickered, seeing Mike’s crumpled gift paper.
“I didn’t have any space in my bag because some asshole asked me to keep his jersey because he forgot his bag,” Mike replied, scowling at Lucas who only seemed to shrug.
“Anyways, doesn’t she sit with Nancy?” Lucas asked, a box of chocolates tied with a pink ribbon in his hand. Dustin replied with the affirmative while Eddie looked at them, wondering who this girl is to receive such thoughtful gifts from his juniors. He continued to watch as the juniors ran towards Nancy Wheeler’s table; to you. He leaned in, trying to make out the conversation but he couldn’t.
“Hey, guys!” you greeted. Dustin, Lucas, and Mike all said hey, shy smiles on their faces. “Happy Valentine’s Day. I got you something.” You rummaged through your bag until you found three red boxes all with personalised names and messages. “Dustin, Lucas, and Mike…here you go,”
“Thank you!” Dustin beamed before giving his gift for you. The others did the same and you chuckled at their excitement. In Dustin’s box was a baseball hat in his favourite colorway, Lucas got a shirt that he could use for practice, while Mike got a cute polo for his next Californian trip. You heard more expressions of appreciation before they walked back to the Hellfire table. Your smile dropped when you saw Eddie frowning before turning away, looking at the kids’ best attempt to wrap their gifts.
“You’re really close with them,” one of your friends commented and you nodded.
“Yeah, well, I used to babysit them alot and we kind of just stayed friends,”
“You know her?” Eddie asked the trio when they sat back down.
“Yeah. She used to babysit us and Valentine’s kind of became a tradition,” Mike replied. “She makes sure we get things like these every year especially because we had no girlfriends back then,”
“Oh,” Eddie nodded, a soft smile on his face. “That’s nice of her,”
“Yeah. She gives these things to all of us. Robin, Nancy, Steve, Max, and everyone else,” Lucas added. “I don’t know. Somebody slipped that she has a boyfriend now so maybe she’ll get something big,”
Eddie scoffed. You weren’t like that…right?
-
The bell rings and students of Hawkins High fill the corridors. It was Valentine’s Day and there was love in the air. Couples were more affectionate than usual and everyone received flowers, chocolates, and everything else for the holiday…everyone except for you, it seemed.
You smiled when Eddie ran towards you in your meeting place, the benches by the woods.
“Hey,” he said, smiling at you before kissing your head.
“Hi, Eddie,” you greeted, a blush on your face.
“Why did you ask to meet here?”
“Well…it’s uh, Valentine’s Day and—“
“and we don’t celebrate it, right?” he asked.
“Oh,” you nodded, swallowing and slyly putting away the gift box you’ve been hiding from him. “W-we don’t?”
“I mean, we don’t celebrate holidays,”
“We do, though…” you replied weakly. Your heart dropped at Eddie’s teasing smile.
“Come on, princess. We don’t. We didn’t celebrate New Year’s Day or Christmas,” he countered before chuckling.
“We baked cookies on Christmas day and spent New Year’s Eve with the kids,” you offered. “But…um, anyways…I know we don’t celebrate holidays,” you replied bitterly. “but I thought it’d be nice to get something for my boyfriend,”
Eddie’s teasing smile drops when he hears the waver in your voice. You were trying so hard not to frown, blinking the tears away when you bent down and retrieved a red and black box from your bag.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, Eddie,” you smiled weakly. You ran off with your bag before Eddie could even say anything. He was just dumbfounded. He groaned before plopping on the bench, opening the box and seeing everything you’ve gotten for him—a guitar pick, a dice set, a mixtape, and a note.
Happy first Valentine’s day, Eddie. I love you.
Your boyfriend ran a hand on his face. It was the first time you told him that you loved him and he tanked it because he thought you weren’t the type to celebrate Valentine’s. What stupid reason made him believe so? You baked cookies for Christmas and exchanged gifts but Eddie thought that it was obligatory. You spent the New Year’s Eve together but isn’t that what couples do? Wasn’t Valentine’s Day just a small holiday? A holiday that greeting cards made up to increase sales?
He felt stupid—of course you’d celebrate Valentine’s Day. It was going to be your first Valentine’s Day and you loved to celebrate things. Your first month anniversary, Eddie passing an exam…you loved to celebrate. So, why didn’t he think of celebrating this with you?
“Jesus Christ!”
-
“He said that we weren’t the type to celebrate Valentine’s day,” you told Nancy and Robin. As soon as you got home, you asked them if it would be okay to celebrate your Valentine’s together. They immediately agreed, bringing with them gifts, chocolates, and snacks.
“He’s so dumb,” Robin replied. “Sorry. I was the one who planted that he might have a big surprise for you,”
“It’s okay, Robs,” you assured her. “I just…it kind of sucks because I was really looking forward to spending more time with him but I’m really thankful that you guys agreed to celebrate a day early. I don’t want to spend Valentine’s alone,”
“It’s alright,” Nancy replied. “Jonathan and I already called each other. We have the whole night free,”
“Pizza and cheesy romcoms?” you asked them.
“Pizza and cheesy romcoms,” Robin replied. “Let’s watch the cheesiest ones! I brought some tapes from Family Video,”
-
It’s not like Eddie could call anybody else. Hellfire was doing something and he hoped—at least that Steve Harrington didn’t bring anyone to a Valentine’s Dinner.
“Pick up, pick up, pick up,” he mumbled as he listened to Harrington’s phone ring.
“Hello?”
“Steve!” he exclaimed.
“Huh, you’re not on a date?” Steve asked. He was confused. Didn’t he have a girlfriend?
“I wouldn’t be calling if I was!”
“Geez, sorry. Just wondering because you have a girlfriend and as far as I’m concerned, she’s really big on celebrations,” Steve explained.
“Look, sorry—I didn’t mean to be rude but can I come over?”
“Sure.”
-
“So you’re telling me, you didn’t get her anything or do anything?” Steve asked.
“Yeah, but I didn’t know she was the type to celebrate! I mean, I really thought that we only celebrated New Years and Christmas because it was an obligation since it’s such a big holiday,” he rambled. “I mean, I should’ve figured out that we’re supposed to celebrate it because it’s our first Valentine’s but I didn’t and now I feel terrible because she told me that she loves me and had this beautifully elaborate gift and I gave her nothing!”
“Hold on,” Steve said. “She told you she loved you? You’re fucked,”
“I know and I really love her and I don’t know if she’ll believe me because I gave her nothing!”
“Just…explain everything, man. I’m sure she’d understand,” Steve assured. “I mean, obviously you fucked up but if you’re honest and you explain everything, I’m sure it’d be fine,”
“You really think so?” Eddie asked. Steve nodded. It was amusing to see Eddie so worried. He never usually worries and it’s true that Eddie had never had a girlfriend before. He’s been on a few dates, sure but never a girlfriend. It was quite entertaining, to say the least—the metalhead falling head over heels for Hawkins’ Sweetheart.
-
The lights are on, but you're not home
Your mind is not your own…
“Jesus Christ, who’s playing songs in the morning?” Robin groaned, burying her head to the bed.
There's no doubt, you're in deep
Your throat is tight, you can't breathe
Another kiss is all you need
“Quit it!” Nancy added. “It’s like…five in the morning,”
Whoa, you like to think that you're immune to the stuff, oh yeah
It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough
You know you're gonna have to face it, you're addicted to love
You groaned before checking to see where the song came from. Who in their right mind would play a love song at eight o’clock? You groggily waddled your way to the window. The sound came from outside, that you were sure.
“Oh my god,” you gasped, altering Robin and Nancy.
“What? What?” Robin asked, sitting up.
“It’s Eddie,” you told them. “He’s outside!”
Your friends ran towards the window and sure enough, Hawkins’ Eddie Munson was outside, standing on your porch carrying a boombox.
“Oh my god,”
“Oh my god,”
A teddy bear hugging a red heart was sitting on a foldable chair. Eddie’s black van was adorned with red and pink balloons. A big “I love you bear-y much” sign could be seen leaning on the van.
You left your friends standing with their mouths wide open, running towards Eddie.
Eddie felt warmth on his cheeks when he saw Nancy and Robin but he didn’t care. He’s done worse things to get attention and this one would actually take the cake. His arms were wobbling but he didn’t care. He waited until you got out of your house, hair sticking out everywhere.
“Hi, Eddie,” you greeted, a shy smile on your face. Eddie puts the boombox down before smiling at you.
“Hello, princess,”
“What are you doing here?”
“Well, I wanted to apologize to you,” he said. “I’m sorry I didn’t celebrate Valentine’s with you yesterday. I, uh, didn’t know how to celebrate it and I didn’t know that you celebrated it. It’s all on me, though because it’s our first Valentine’s and we should’ve done something together and I just—I didn’t know. I’m really sorry,”
“Eddie—“
“Look! This teddy bear says I love you bear-y much and I love you bear-y much. I looked for the biggest bear I could find in Hawkins but if you don’t like the bear, I have these berries,” he stopped when he picked up a container of chocolate-coated strawberries that he and Steve made last night. “and it’s supposed to say that I love you berry much and I do love you. Please don’t break up with me. I promise to celebrate every holiday with you and make you feel important and special and—“
“Eddie! It’s okay,” you laughed. “You’re forgiven,”
“I’m really sorry I have these chocolates—wait, I am?”
“Yeah,” you nodded. “Just…talk to me about things next time, okay? If we’re unsure about something, let’s talk about it and find a common ground,”
“Okay,” he nodded. “That…that’s actually good. I’ll learn everything about you…how to treat you the best and stuff,”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah,”
“Question—were you gonna camp out here if I didn’t go out?” you asked.
“Yeah but I’ll definitely have to put the stereo down at some point. My arms almost gave up. It’s a good thing I have my charm with me, huh?” he asked, taking a step closer.
“Yeah, really good thing,” you nodded, taking Eddie’s face and kissing him where you wanted to kiss him the most.

Your mother, concerned you were isolating yourself, had taken it upon herself to take you to an early pregnancy class for young mothers. Lucky for you, it was the first session today so you could meet everyone instead of being able to skulk around at the back.
“It’s like a fucking AA meeting in there!” You hiss at your mother from the door,
“How would you know?” She ushers you into the room, taking a seat in the circle beside you.
It’s excruciating. You’re the youngest there by far, and catch more than a few disapproving stares, having to listen to these couples in their 20s gush about how excited they are for their miracle. When it’s your turn to introduce yourself you have no idea how you’d even begin to explain the situation, so you choose awkward humour.
“Guess I’m in this group because I don’t know how condoms work.” A few courtesy chuckles from the group, mostly men, while their partners look at you with pity. You make a few attempts to get up and leave when the conversation isn’t razor focused on you, but every time your arm is gripped by your mother and you are pushed surreptitiously back into your seat.
Dustin was running between rooms in the hospital a lot these days. Visiting Max, reading to her with Lucas and chatting about his day to her, waiting for her to tell him that his days are boring and to just let her sleep. One day, he’s sure, she will. Then he’s running across the hall to Eddie’s room, which is becoming a lot more chaotic than Max’s.
Ever since he woke up he’s been planning how he’s going to leave Hawkins. Growing ever more frustrated with his confinement as the days pass, stressed that someone will recognise him and give him up. Dustin opens the door slowly, a little apprehensively. He’s surprised to find Eddie sitting on the bed as he scribbles furiously in a notepad, chewing the end of a pen until his lips are stained blue.
“Hey Eddie.” Dustin approaches, unsettled by this Eddie, who looks calmest he’s been since he awoke. Eddie offers his friend a small smile,
“I’ve been an asshole lately haven’t I?”
“Well… you haven’t been the friendliest…” Dustin offers, far more graciously than Eddie could ever think he deserves.
“I’m sorry, it’s nothing personal. It’s just been kinda stressful being cooped up here.”
Dustin nods and shrugs the apology off, he understood Eddie, he didn’t need the apology.
“Listen, I’ve got another favour I need from you, okay?” Eddie looks a little uncomfortable, like he’s afraid he’ll be asking too much.
“That depends on what it is…”
“There’s a girl,”
Dustin interjects, “Yeah? That’s Robin, oh my god are you okay? Did you lose your memory?!”
Eddie bites back a laugh, “Okay, not Robin.” Dustin opens his mouth, “And not Nancy either. My memory is just fine.”
Dustin frowns, “Then who’s the girl? You don’t talk to girls! You barely look at girls!”
Finally, you are granted sweet freedom from your mother’s ideas, you get into the car with her and give her instructions to your next destination. She purses her lips disapprovingly but this was part of the bargain of getting you out of the house.
You pull up at the trailer park a few minutes later, you rummage in your purse for the directions Wayne had given you, this park wasn’t laid out as simply as Forest Hills and you wonder if it might have been easier to have asked him to draw you a map.
Finally you find yourself at Wayne’s trailer, and once you’re invited in you recognise the smell of cigarettes that Wayne smokes and Eddie steals from him. But the scent is lacking, it feels like a gut punch when you register that the reason the smell is lacking is because there’s no “Eddie” smell.
Wayne notices this, “It doesn’t feel right without him, does it?” You shake your head, sniffing back tears, determined not to cry this time.
“Okay, well let's not be miserable bastards here. I’m taking you and my future great-niece or nephew out for lunch.”
“Oh, you really don’t have to, I know you must be tired from working.”
“It’s not like I sleep much anyway kid, come on.”
Wayne won’t take no for an answer as he leads you out of the trailer, he shuts down your protests in the car with a simple,
“It’s what Eddie would want. He’d want someone to look out for you, the both of you.” You slump back, he’s got you there. You arrive at a nearby diner, where you’re instructed to order whatever looks good, Wayne himself opting for a burger and black coffee before excusing himself to the restroom.
When your order arrives Wayne quirks an eyebrow,
“So those pregnancy cravings are kicking in right about now?”
You follow his gaze to the extra 5 pickles you requested on the side of your burger in place of a salad, and laugh,
“What gave me away?”
You and Wayne spend the hour in your booth, Wayne telling you stories about how much of a monster Eddie was as a child, and you listening, understanding, and loving Eddie all the more for the stories Wayne shared. Though your favorite had to be how Eddie tried to sneak into the trailer while ditching school, Wayne had sat on the sofa and watched for a good 15 minutes as Eddie tried to pick the lock before deciding to open it for him, making the young boy jump out of his skin while Wayne just laughed.
“‘Course that was before he came to live with me.”
“Eddie, are you sure there’s no head injury that the doctors need to know about?”
“No, Dustin, I’m fine.” Eddie is a little frustrated, this back and forth has been going for a while now, and it's becoming almost insulting.
“Okay because what you’re saying is a little,” Dustin pauses to shrug and purses his lips, “A little unbelievable.”
“Oh sure, people floating in mid air, a tentacled dust monster, fuckin’ demon bats trying to eat me alive that’s all fine and believable. But me having a girlfriend? That’s the part you’re struggling with?” There’s a tiny hint of teasing in Eddie’s tone, not trying to upset Dustin.
“No, it's not the girlfriend part I’m struggling with. It’s the part where your girlfriend is not only a cheerleader but also pretty much the meanest one, who looks at you like she wants to kill you.” Dustin can recall at least 5 different occasions on different days where your glare at Eddie had chilled him to the bone, and he wasn’t even the intended recipient.
“Hey, kill and kiss are only one letter apart.”
Dustin snorts,
“And besides,” Eddie adds, “Maybe I like the mean ones, especially when the mean ones are so very hot.”
“Too much info dude.” Dustin screws his face up, a little grossed out. He goes to ask a question but Eddie gestures for him to be quiet as they hear footsteps approaching the door. They both tense up, half expecting police officers to come busting through, they are relieved when Steve appears, frowns now deep set in his forehead.
“Busy day at the office?” Eddie jokes, hoping to ease some of those wrinkles.
“Sure, Family Video is doing great, cracks to hell really boost sales.” Steve drawls sarcastically,
“Well, get this Steve. Eddie has a girlfriend.” Dustin receives a swift, soft, slap on the arm for this.
“This is no time for jokes, Dustin.” Steve shakes his head at Dustin, disappointed mother hen written all over his face.
“Okay fuck both of you guys.” There’s no malice in Eddie’s tone. Even he has to admit it’s a little funny. The back and forth continues for a little, boosting the mood in the room.
Eddie eventually returns to his notebook, his 5th attempt now to explain to you why he's leaving. How sorry he is. How he wants you to move on because you could do so much better than him. He figured it would be easy enough to do it this way, not have to stare into your eyes as he breaks your heart. He's not relishing in this, truthfully it's tearing him up on a level about on par with those bats, but he can't bear the thought of you looking at him with any kind of pity, or staying with him because you feel bad for the poor maimed freak.
He stops writing again, furious scribbling over his words. Either way he handles this it's going to be shit. He could let you think he's dead, that would give you closure, but then what happens years down the line when you bump into him in a grocery store? This option, telling you the truth, is equally shit. Tell you that he's alive, and so in love with you that he would gladly drag his balls through broken glass if you'd just ask, but that he can't be with you because he's terrified he'll put you in harm's way. Terrified he is somehow compromised by rabid demobat bites. Terrified that even if that's not the case that he'll just end up like his father, that'll he be a mean drunk, a shitty husband.
Nancy is trudging alongside one of the large fissures, having followed it from its origin at Eddie’s trailer, right to the centre of town. Her toes aching in too-tight boots, counting every step she takes, trying to see if the cracks had got bigger, or changed in any way. As far as she could see, they remained unchanged. She's not sure which would be more disturbing, the cracks seemingly lying dormant, or the cracks getting bigger.
Robin had volunteered to come along and "help" but the help Robin was currently providing was limited to freaking out about whether or not Vickie had been flirting with her when she pointed out her laces were undone. Some things never change, Nancy mused as she peered down into the crack, certain she had heard a faint chittering emanating from there once Robin had stopped for a breath. When Robin's spiel didn't restart once she had her breath back, Nancy glanced up at her face.
Robin had heard it too.
"That's… that's not good is it?"
Nancy shakes her head, patting her waist to check her revolver is still by her side. The chittering gets louder, but it becomes clear that whatever is making the noise is on its own. And then it all goes silent, deathly silent, so silent that Nancy can hear her own heart beating in her head.
Silent until a bat rips through the fissure, screeching, Robin’s reaction stuns Nancy into silence, seemingly without thought, Robin grabs hold of the bat and snaps its head in one clean motion.
"Thanks." Nancy smiles wryly as Robin drops the bat back into the fissure.
"Son of a bitch tried to eat our friend." Nancy nods at this, shivering as the image of Eddie covered in so much blood comes to mind, she shakes her head as though she’s trying to forcibly shake the image from her memory.
"We need to tell Steve about this, we know we injured Vecna and it's only a matter of time before he's back to full strength. The bat could have been a message."
You had never known Nancy Wheeler or Robin Buckley to be close friends, or even acquaintances, so it seems a little odd to you, as you peer from the window of Wayne's car, that they would be involved in what looked to be a very intense conversation as they stood over one of the fissures the earthquake had caused.
"I wonder if they're secretly dating." You muse as the car passes them.
Wayne had insisted on driving you home from lunch, saying he didn't want to put your mother out by having her come to collect you. The drive is fairly quick, most of the Hawkins residents who remained were now familiar with the various diversions around the town to avoid the worst of the damage. You're grateful for that, you had seen some of the worst of it, and knowing that Eddie's body, having been deemed unrecoverable, was lying somewhere in that wreckage was too much to bear.
Once you are home, Wayne gives you a small wave and heads home, you catch him yawning as he reverses, confirming your suspicion that he had stayed up to take you out for lunch. You drudge up the stairs, after a small exchange with your mother, and head to bed, ready for a food coma nap. You've taken to wearing Eddie's shirts to bed, there's the faintest trace of his smell still on them, which is either a testament to your pregnancy nose or just how ingrained the smell is into his shirts. Or both.
You sink under covers, wrapped in a shirt that smells like Eddie, you lull yourself to sleep with the thought of Eddie beside you, nose buried in your hair, arms holding you flush to his body. For once it is a dreamless sleep you fall into, waking up when you hear the sound of your closet being opened. Your mother is trying to put your laundry away as quietly as she can and failing. You grumble slightly as you stretch out, feeling cool air hit your feet as they leave the warmth of your bed covers.
“Sorry.”
“ ‘s okay, can’t sleep too much now or I won’t sleep tonight.”
Your mother perches on the end of your bed,
“Can I ask you something?” You nod, fisting sleep out of your eyes. “How come you don’t see your friends anymore?”
You chew your lip, unsure of how to answer,
"Sweetheart, I know you’re grieving. And I know that it's not the same for them, but they lost Chrissy, same as you did. It might be helpful for you to spend time with them, to grieve with them.”
“I’ll try.” Your mother smiles and pats your leg under the covers,
“Thatta girl.”

You sat holding Eddie’s guitar pick necklace in your hands, twiddling it endlessly.
“Baby, Eddie, no please,” you sobbed as you and Dustin held him close, making sure he was comfortable in what you knew was going to be his last moments. “Why’d you have to stay?”
Eddie only smiled, “I didn’t run this time, right?”
Your eyes were blurry with tears and you could hear his throat filling with blood. “You didn’t.”
“I’m your hero now.”
“You always were.”
You wiped your eyes, not wanting to relive the horrid moment over again as Eddie’s lifeless eyes glimmered for one last time looking at you.
Standing from the Wheeler’s couch in the basement, you went outside where everyone else was packing the car full of donations. Everyone gave you sympathy looks and didn’t know if they should say anything to console you.
Dustin went to talk to you but you just shook your head, “Not right now, please.” He understood that you needed time and left it alone for the time being.
You grabbed a few boxes and set them in the car. However, a pizza van started driving towards the house and out came the rest of the crew, all relieved to see everyone. However, you didn’t wish to celebrate their return when you knew Eddie wasn’t coming home.
There wasn’t going to be a proper goodbye for you to lay Eddie to rest. He was left in the upside down and Steve and Robin had to drag you away from his body.
You reached into your back pocket, the folded note in your hand was the words you wished you could have said to Eddie. Debating on what to do, you took your bike and decided to find a secluded place to read the words out loud.
After a ten minute bike ride, you made it to the place where you and Eddie shared your first kiss. It was a place somewhat near the woods. A giant tree with a bench underneath where you both had sat.
Taking at seat, you took deep breaths to calm yourself down. You unfolded the letter and could already feel the tears welling into your eyes.
“Eddie, my love,” you said, a part of you hoping that wherever he was, he could hear you. Even if he couldn’t, you could at least try to find peace.
“I’m trying to imagine all the ways we could have stopped you. Maybe if I had let you go first on the rope before you cut it down.” Your voice was wavering, choking back the tears. “Maybe if we had better items to defend ourselves. Maybe if we had run together. You’d be here if you didn’t feel like you needed to be the hero…. You were already the hero in my eyes.”
A sob left your mouth before you could stop it. “Why’d you do it? I need you. We all do. I want you back so badly it hurts. I just want to hear your rambles about d&d or listen to your favorite bands… Have you come home.”
You had to stop for a breather or else you would start to break down. His big brown eyes kept haunting your mind and his blood stained teeth trying to smile made you feel sick to your stomach.
You continued on, knowing it would only help you to say your pain out loud instead of keeping it in. “A part of me was with you when you died. And I know I will never get that back. You were my world Eddie, I know I was yours. You would always brag about our relationship to everyone who was in hearing distance.” The memory of Eddie gushing about you to the Hellfire Club made your heart burn.
His voice was echoing in your head, the ghost of his laughter making everything in you wanting to scream out for him.
“I don’t know how I will go on without you. It seems like my world is now broken because of you dying. And I hate that no matter what people will blame you for what happened. They’ll never know you like we did.”
You only had two more sentences left but your heart ached and your eyes felt swollen from crying so much. “I love you, Eddie Munson. I always have and I always will.”
A few of your tears dropped onto the letter as you folded it back up again. Standing, you placed the letter to Eddie into a part of the tree where no one could see.
You stood there for a few seconds before leaving, knowing no matter what that Eddie would watch over you. He knew how much you loved him.
And he only went against the monsters to save you.

"Happy Halloween kiddo!" You smiled at your step dad and mom as you walked down the stairs into the kitchen. "Happy Halloween.." you said as you opened the fridge door. "Any plans tonight?" Your mom asked as she poured herself a cup of coffee. Before you could respond to her question, Jason answered before you could.
"Yeah we're going to a small celebration!" Jason explained as he quickly grabbed a bottle of water before he ran up the stairs to his room. You scoffed at him and quickly followed him up to his room.
"What do you mean, We're going to a party?" You question as you walk behind him "Chrissy's parents are gone and it's Halloween night!" You just stared at him in shock.
"Do I really have to go to Chrissy's Halloween party?" You asked Jason as you stood in the doorway towards his room. He chuckled a bit and nodded at you. "You're part of the cheerleaders so it'd be nice if you'd show up to a party once and awhile!" He said as he picked up his backpack from his bedroom floor. "I am not a voluntary cheerleader though, jason!" He just shook his head at you. "The party's at 8!" He said, brushing past you and straight for the kitchen.
You sighed and walked back towards your bedroom. "Stupid cheer!" You said as you kicked a pompom out the way. You groaned and sat down on your vanity chair and started to do your hair for the day "Y/n, Phone's for you!" You heard Mr Carver yell out, you quickly got up and picked up the phone next to your bed. "Hello?" "Hi y/n, it's Chrissy. I was just wondering if you're still gonna wear your care bear costume with the rest of us girls?" You smiled a bit, "um yeah I'll wear the care bear costume!" She squealed on the other side of the phone before hanging up.
You sighed and looked at your care bear onesie. You had put on your costume quickly and rushed down the stairs, shoes in hand. "Oh y/n you look cute!" Your mom gushed as her and Mr. Carver watched you and Jason rush around the kitchen, grabbing after practice snacks and lunches. "Thanks!" Before you and Jason could leave, your mom had stopped you both and forced you both to take photos "Y/n smile!" You gave the camera a cheesy smile before following Jason to his car.
"Try not to drive crazy today!" You told Jason as you pulled down the sun visor and started to do a little makeup on the drive to school. "No promises!" You rolled your eyes at him.
You and Jason both split apart as soon as he parked the car. "Hey y/n, Nice costume!" You smiled at Gareth before flipping him off, you two were good friends so it wasn't a huge surprise to him.
"You know her? Since when?" Mike asked as he and the other members of hellfire watched your interaction. "We went to the same summer camp when we're little, then we got partnered in ms clicks class." He explained.
"Gareth knows who?" Eddie asks as he walks up towards the club "he knows y/n carver!" Dustin said in disbelief. "You do?" Eddie asked with a confused look on his face as well. "Yes, me and her are friends." Eddie just nodded before him and the club started to walk towards their lockers.
"She's super hot!" One of the subs said as they all walked past you and the others. Eddie just listened to all his friends talk about the cheerleaders. "Eddie!" He turned to see Chrissy running over to him. "Hey chrissy!" He greeted her. "I'm having a party tonight and I wanted to let you know, you and your friends are invited too!" She said, looking around to make sure Jason didn't suddenly appear. "Alright…cool I guess?" He said also looking around
"Oh it's a costume party too so all of you guys must come in costumes!" She said as she walked away. Eddie turned back to hellfire "You know chrissy cunningham?" Gareth asked, now it being his turn to be shocked. "Since middle school!" Eddie said as he slowly backed away from the group and walked to his class.
Lunch
“Why did you invite those freaks?” Jason asked Chrissy as she sat down at the lunch table. “Eddie’s my friend, Jason and he’s not a freak!” she defended. “He has a cult chrissy!” she rolled her eyes at him. “Who’s a freak?” you asked as you sat down next to chrissy. “Eddie Munson, a cult leader y/n!” Chrissy just rolled her eyes before turning towards you. “He’s my friend! He’s the leader of hellfire!” she pointed at their table. You turned and followed her finger “That’s gareth!” you said confused. "The one next to him!" You nodded and looked again and saw Eddie, you turned to chriddy with a surprised face "You know eddie?” she nods at your question, "you know him too?" you nodded and looked at eddie, “He's in my history class! But I would join his cult if he’s the leader!” you said out loud, making jason choke on his food and chrissy to start smiling.
“Y/n! Don’t start, he would be a bad influence on you!” you sighed and continued to eat your lunch, occasionally looking back at Eddie's table. Eddie had noticed your gaze once in a while. “Carver’s sister keeps looking over here..” Eddie said as he ate food off of Jeff's tray. “What?!” “oh god!” they all panicked thinking you were insulting them over at your table.
“Y/n, you said you know you're friends with one of them correct?” Chrissy asked as she pointed to the hellfire table. “Yeah, why?” you asked as you took a bite of your food. “Could you invite him and the others? I don’t think Eddie told them about my invite.” you nodded at chrissy, before standing up and walking over to their table.
“Gareth the great!” you greeted as you walked up to his table. “Lady carver!” He greeted back. “You don’t normally talk to me during lunch? What do you want?” he asked, making you chuckle “Chrissy said to invite you all to her halloween party tonight it’s at her house, it starts at 8!” you smiled at them all, your gaze lingering on eddie for a bit longer “it’s also a costume party she said to come dressed up too!” you said quickly before you walked back towards your table.
“Did she just invite us to a party?” Dustin asked as he looked around the table, they all nodded at him, Eddie stared at you while you walked back.
Throughout the day Jason would piss you off, you finally had enough when he kept bringing up you talking to the hellfire club. “Would you shut up jason!” you said as you unlocked the front door. “Would you prefer it if I didn't go tonight?” you asked frustrated. “Just ignore those freaks y/n and we’ll be fine!” you groaned at him before storming up to your room.
Couple Hours Later
You had gone through your closet, trying to find a different costume to wear to piss Jason off. Once you had found one, you quickly stuffed it into your cheer bag and walked out of your room. “Where are you going hun?” your mom asked as you walked into the kitchen with your bag. “I’m going to Chrissy's! Did Jason leave already?” she nods at you. “He left an hour ago! He said you wouldn’t be going with?” you held in a scoff.
“I wouldn’t be going with him!” you explained as you grabbed a bottle of water. “Oh well, have fun and be safe y/n!” she kissed your forehead and walked you to the door. “I promise I will mama!” you smiled and kissed her cheek before running to your car and quickly started it up and started to drive towards chrissy’s house.
You smiled as you parked next to Jason's car, you hopped out and grabbed your cheer bag and walked into the house. You were immediately greeted by the other cheer girls wearing different costumes from earlier. “Hey y/n! Shot?” Chrissy greeted as she walked past you carrying jello shots. “Thank you!” you smiled as you took two from the tray, after you swallowed them you walked up the stairs to the second floor. You noticed the line for the bathroom and groaned.
You stood in the line waiting, while waiting you had noticed eddie and the rest of hellfire had walked into the house. Chrissy was walking up the stairs when she noticed you standing in the line with your bag “Y/n are you gonna change?” you nodded at chrissy’s question. She motioned for you to follow her.
“Use my room! Tina and the others are!” you thanked her and walked into her room. “Heyy y/n!” one of the cheerleaders greeted, clearly drunk off her ass. “Hi jen!” you smiled and unzipped your bag and pulled out your costume. “Ooh a bunny!” Tina said with a smirk as she fixed her hair. “A playboy bunny!” Jennifer pointed out as you pulled out the rest of the outfit. “Jason pissed you off huh?” she smirked at your nod. “That and there’s a hot senior here!” you said as you put on the bodysuit. "Who's the hottie?" Tina asked as she watched you fix your bunny ears. "Well he's one of Chrissy's friends!" You smiled, before you could continue the bedroom door opened.
Chrissy walked in, she had some kind of shot spilt on her clothes, "Who's my friend?" She asked as she walked to her closet and picked a different outfit. "Our little y/n is crushing on one of your friends!" Jennifer said as she hung off Chrissy's bed frame "Ooh who is it? Is it nick?" She guessed, clearly excited to hear about your crush. "No, try less popular" you hinted as you fixed your hair. Before any of the girls could throw out a guess you were interrupted by knocking in the door. "Chrissy, are you in there?" You recognized Eddie's voice through the door.
You quickly ran over and opened the door a bit, so only you were visible through the small open door "Uh hey, is Chrissy in there?" Eddie asked you, slightly flustered by your playboy suit, he tried to keep his eyes from wandering down further. "Um yeah but she's sorta busy right now! Do you need some help?" You smiled at him, you felt red all over while talking to him, "Uh no it's alright just tell her to come and talk to me when she's not busy.." he chuckled a bit "You sure you don't need help? I'm free right now!" You offered with a smirk. He just chuckled and shook his head. "Uh, just tell her to come find me, thanks!" He smiled at you before going down the stairs.
You turned towards the girls with a smile on your face. "Was that the hottie?!" Jennifer asked excitedly, you grinned and nodded at the three girls. "You like eddie?!" Chrissy said squealing as she ran over to you. "Yeah he's really cute, and he looks so hot in history class too!" You squeal just think about him rolling up his sleeves during one of the history lessons. "I assume Jason doesn't know, does he?" Tina asked, now joining the squeal fest. "No and in his words "don't hang out with those satanic freaks y/n! Or he'd be a bad influence on you y/n!" You mocked jason. "Screw him! Get your man!" Jennifer said as she stumbled over to you three girls.
You four girls had finished changing, you all made your way down the stairs, Chrissy had left you, Jennifer and Tina to try and find eddie. You three made your way towards the kitchen where Jason and his assholes he calls friend were.
"What are you wearing y/n?" Jason asked as he looked at your costume up and down in disgust. "I'm a bunny!" You said with a smirk. "Go change!" Jason said before taking a drink of his beer. "No! Let me wear what I want!" You scoffed. "Whatever!" He stormed off to the backyard. "Dick.." you whispered under your breath as you started to make a drink for yourself.
"Oh he's a total dick!" You looked up and saw Eddie, "Try living with him! It's a nightmare!" You joked making Eddie smile as he poured a drink as well. "Nice bunny costume carver! A big change from the sweet innocent care bear this morning!" You smiled at him. "And what might you be?" You asked, slightly leaning on the countertop.
"A Vampire, but don't worry I won't go for a sweet bunny tonight!" He joked, showing you his fake fangs he had on his k9 teeth. You felt red once again. "Oh thank you, Mr. Vampire!" You dramatically put your hand to your forehead. You both laughed. "Eddie!" You both looked over and saw Chrissy standing in the doorway with her hands on her hips, looking at you both. "Uh, I'll be back y/n, stay here!" He said with a smile before he ran over and had Chrissy help him bring something in.
After a while you noticed, Eddie had been in the living room where most of the girls were fawning over him knowing how to play the guitar. "That bitch!" You said, catching the attention of Tina, who was sitting on the kitchen island. "Who?" You nodded in Eddie's direction. "He said he'd be back and he left me here for thirty minutes!" You scoffed and went to take a sip of your drink when you realized you were out.
"He lucked out this time, oh well, move onto a different guy y/n!" Tina said as she got off the island and walked out of the kitchen. You sighed and started to make your fourth drink that night. "Could you make me a rum and coke?" You looked up and saw one of Jason's friends Chance. You silently nodded at him and started to make his drink. "I like the playboy outfit y/n!" He said with a smile "thanks!" You said, trying to catch Eddie's eye. "Hey you wanna hang with me and the others outside y/n?" Chance caught your attention with his question. "Uh sure!" You smiled at him, you grabbed your cup and followed Chance to Chrissy's backyard. Some of the seniors had gotten in the pool, the others just sat outside talking.
Chance had led you to a small bonfire pit where some of Jason's friends were drinking and talking. "Hi y/n!" Jennifer greeted, still drunk off her ass. "Hi jen!" You smiled and sat down next to her. "Nice costume carver!" Andy winked at you. You shuddered and moved closer to jennifer. "Want a beer?" Patrick offered, you shook your head and showed him your red solo cup, you were busy talking to Jennifer you hadn't noticed, Chance and Andy sharing a look with each other.
Eddie had somehow managed to escape the hoard of stuck up girls who were all over him and his guitar. He walked into the kitchen, Hoping you would still be in there waiting for him. He sighed when he walked in and you were gone. He went to leave the kitchen but heard your laugh coming from outside. He walked outside and spotted you outside with Jason's friends.
He watched you for a bit, before he had decided to go and watch one of the jocks challenge someone on the kegs. "Hey y/n could you help me, I think my car keys fell out of my pocket!" You nodded at Andy and leaned over and started looking for keys on the grass. While you leaned over you hadn't noticed Chance pouring something in your cup and stirring it around. Jennifer was too busy trying not to fall over to notice either.
"Oh, found them!" You smiled as you sat back up straight "Thanks for helping y/n." Andy thanked, as he sipped his beer. "No problem andy!" You smiled quickly before taking a drink.
After a couple minutes you had started to feel dizzy, you excused yourself and made your way into the kitchen, luckily Eddie was in there as well getting a drink, he noticed you had started to stumble in. "You have one too many drinks, carver?" He asked, watching you stumble over to the counter. "I don't know, is it hot in here?" He raised an eyebrow at you "No? Do you need help getting on there?" You nodded as he helped you sit on the countertop. "It's really hot eddie!" You said while fanning yourself. "Y/n, you need a drink?" Chance asked as he ran in from outside, Andy and Jennifer following behind.
"Hang on man, she might be allergic to the alcohol!" Eddie held up his hand to Chance. Andy and Chance looked at each other. "I'll get her coke then!" Chance opened up a can and poured it into a cup. Andy walked over and acted like he was putting ice in the cup when he was really putting the rest of the powder in.
The pair had handed it to Eddie, who helped you drink the liquid. "Y/n, you alright?" You shook your head at him as you felt dizzier. You slouched over and kept taking deep breaths. You went to look up at Eddie. Before you could you had passed out. Eddie quickly picked you up from the table "here we'll take her!" Chance offered, Andy nodded as well. "It's alright I can take her to the hospital!" Eddie had caught the look the pair gave each other, Eddie trailed his eyes down and saw a powder coated bag sticking out of both their pockets. "You assholes!" He cursed, if Eddie wasn't holding your body in his arms he was convinced he would've thrown a punch at them. "Listen freak! You're gonna tell no one about this alright!" Andy got closer to him. Eddie went to fight back but stopped when you groaned in his arms. He scoffed at them and walked past them and right to his van.
Luckily he hadn't had too many drinks that night, he had opened up the passengers door and helped buckle you in. Eddie didn't care, he drove all crazy to the hospital. The 20 minute drive took about 15.
You had finally gained consciousness after a while, you noticed the bright light of an ER room. "Ah glad to see you up, ms carver!" The Nurse said as she walked into the small room. "What happened?" You asked as you looked under the hospital blanket and saw your Playboy suit was gone and now there was the hospital gown. "You were spiked ms carver!" Your eyes widen. "Luckily it wasn't too bad when you walked in, thanks to the gentleman who brought you in.." you nodded and looked around, trying to find a clue as to who brought you to the hospital.
"The gentleman is outside your room ms carver! He's just taking a quick break, he hasn't left your side since he brought you in!" You smiled at her and nodded. You leaned back against the pillows and watched as the nurse took out your iv.
"I'll go and get your release papers ready!" You quietly thanked the Nurse as she left the room. You had laid there waiting for the nurse of whoever brought you to the hospital to come back.
“Hey, you're awake! That’s a good sign!” you smiled as eddie walked in with a bag. “Thank you Eddie, for taking me here!” Eddie smiled back. “It’s not a problem really…” you both stayed silent for a moment before eddie broke it by handing you the bag. “I noticed you didn’t have any proper clothes and I doubt you want to be discharged while wearing a playboy bunny suit. So I bought this for you at the gift shop.” he explained as you opened the bag and saw a pair of shorts and a sweatshirt with the hospital logo on the front.
“Thank you again eddie!” you smiled at him. He nodded at you and went to leave the room so you could get dressed. “Could you stay here, Just in case I fall over or anything!” he laughed and turned away from you.
“Do you know who, you know..” you trailed off as you put on the shorts. “Yeah actually, it was Jason's friends! The guy who had a hat and the one who had a red jacket on!” you thought about and realized who the pair were. “Chance and Andy!” you shuddered as you thought back to earlier that night. “Those are their names?” you nodded as you slipped on the sweatshirt, you stopped when you realized he couldn’t see you. “Yeah, they're also Jason's best friends too!” you walked over and tapped eddie’s shoulder since you had finished changing.
“Ms carver, i just need you to sign these papers then i’ll wheel you downstairs! So if your boyfriend wants to get your car ready!” you both turned to the nurse both feeling flustered at her calling Eddie your boyfriend. You laughed a bit and nodded at her. Eddie just let out a cough and walked out the room to go get his van ready at the front.
Once you had finished the paperwork she wheeled you to the hospital entrance. You both had made it there before eddie could pull up, the nurse had started some small talk with you when you both watched eddie pull up in front of you both, he put the car in park and quickly hopped out to help you get into his car. The nurse whispered into your ear as Eddie opened the passenger door. “You got a pretty hot boyfriend if I do say so myself!” you both giggled.
Eddie raised an eyebrow at you both but quickly dismissed it as both Eddie and the nurse helped you hop up into the passenger seat. You could tell the nurse told Eddie something as he shut your door.
He let out a chuckle before he nodded and walked over to his side door and got in. “I’m hungry, are you?” you asked him as he started to drive away from the hospital.
“Uh, yeah I could eat!” he said as started driving to a 24 hour diner. You smiled as you looked around his van, on his sun visors he had pins of his favorite metal bands. You noticed a metallica pin and turned to him. “Have you heard master of puppets by metallica yet? It came out earlier this month!” you asked excitedly, eddie did a double take between you and the road. “You listen to metallica?” he asked, slightly shocked, you nodded at him while smiling. “Yeah! Jason hates it when I play it in my car though!” you laughed a bit. “Well I have listened to master of puppets and I've learned it on my guitar!” your eyes widen at him. “You have?” he smiled and nodded at you.
You both talked about Metallica the whole drive to the diner. “Ladies first!” you smiled as he held the door open for you. “Why thank you!” you both laughed as you got sat by your waiter.
“What’ll it be, kids?” you and eddie looked at the menu . “I’ll have a dr pepper, and she’ll have an oreo shake.” you looked at eddie shocked. “How did you know?” he chuckled. “Gareth may or may not rant about your milkshake order!” you smiled. The waiter just rolled their eyes and walked away from you both.
After you two had ordered your food, you both talked about school, Jason, music and surprisingly how he hates pickles. “You want ‘em?” he offered which you took. “I love pickles!” he gagged as you happily ate it.
You made a face as Eddie squirted ketchup all over his fries. “You don’t eat them like that you weirdo!” you laughed as eddie took a fry and ate it with a smile on his face. “If we're gonna talk about how to eat fries, let’s talk about you dipping your fries in your shake!” he argued back.
“Hey! Don't knock it till you try it!” you said as you dipped a fry and held it to his lips, he looked disgusted at the fry, making you laugh a bit harder. He smiled wider at your laugh. “Just try it! If you don’t like it, I'll stop dipping them around you!” he sighed before he opened his mouth. You smiled and popped it in his mouth. He chewed it and sighed at you. “I hate to say this carver but…I love it, damn it!” you smiled smugly. Little did you know he hated the fry dipped in the shake but he didn’t want you to be upset at him for not liking it, what was the harm in a sweet innocent lie.
After you two had finished you both walked over to the register to pay.
“It’s two in the morning!” You said with wide eyes as you looked at the digital clock that hung above the register. “Time flies when you have fun I guess!” Eddie smiled as he paid for the meal before you could stop him. “Eddie! I was gonna pay! It's the least I could do after tonight.” he smiled at you. “You can tip her! That’s all I'm gonna let you do!” you smiled and pulled out a five dollar bill and ran to place it on the table. “You and your girlfriend are really cute together!” The young waiter running the cashier said to Eddie as soon as you ran back to your table. Eddie smiled as he watched you give the waiter the tip all smiley. “Thanks! Have a good night!” he said as the kid handed Eddie his change.
Eddie waited for you at the front of the restaurant, you came walking up to Eddie smiling. “You ready?” he asked, you nodded at him, carrying a to go cup with. “What’s in the cup?” he asked as he helped you hop into the passenger's seat. “The waiter gave me a refill!” he smiled as you handed him the cup and buckled yourself in. He chuckled and handed back the cup. He quickly hopped in on his side and started to drive away. Eddie bit his lip and turned to you for a second before looking back at the road “Do you wanna stay with me for the night? I mean my uncle works at night and it would be nice to have someone over..” he trailed off.
You smiled at him. “Sure!” you both smiled as eddie started to drive to his trailer. You had dozed off a bit as he drove, you were still sleepy when Eddie shook you awake. “We’re here y/n.” you nodded and hopped out of the car and followed Eddie to the door.
“Sorry for the mess!” he apologized as he opened the door and let you go in first. “I’ve seen my room in worse stages!” you joked, eddie smiles, “You can sleep on my mattress, i’ll lay on the couch!” he said as he guided you to his bedroom. “Oh um alright..” you nodded and sat down on his bed. “Do you need a shirt?” you nodded your head at his offer. “I’ll let you use my hellfire shirt!” he smiles at you and hands it over. You stood up from the bed and walked to the small bathroom you saw on your way to Eddie's room.
You took off the sweatshirt and put on his hellfire shirt, you smelt his cologne on his shirt and smiled. you walked back into his room, he had his back to the door, you felt butterflies in your stomach as you watched his back muscles move as he slipped on a shirt. You quickly acted like you had just walked in as he turned around.
“I guess I'll see you in the morning, goodnight y/n!” you smiled as Eddie walked down the small hallway to the couch. “Goodnight eddie!” he smiled as he fixed the couch for the night.
Half an hour had gone by and you hadn’t managed to fall asleep yet, you turned onto your back and looked around Eddie's bedroom, you tilted your head at the handcuffs hanging up on his wall. You sighed and played with the hem of the blanket. You looked around the room before getting up from the mattress, you wrapped his blanket around yourself and walked towards Eddie on the couch.
You tapped his shoulder, Eddie stirred a bit before he opened his eyes, “Y/n? What’s wrong?” he propped himself up on his elbows. “I’m sorry, I feel bad interrupting your sleep but it's just lonely in your room…could I come lay with you? Only if you let me though!” you disclaimed. Eddie just chuckled at you and made room for you, he patted in front of him, you smiled and happily laid down, facing him.
“Goodnight y/n!” you smiled at him. “Good night eddie!” you closed your eyes and scooted closer into eddie, without a second thought he pulled you closer and held the back of your head.
You both peacefully drifted off to sleep. Sleeping blissfully unaware of the storm yet to come in the morning.
You and Eddie woke you to the sound of rain droplets falling onto the window. You both laughed as you both pulled away from each other’s grip. “Guess I should take you home now huh?” you smiled and nodded at eddie. You both had gotten dressed, you hesitantly gave back his shirt, and put on the sweatshirt Eddie had bought for you.
You both sat in silence as Eddie drove back to your house. You were surprised when Eddie pulled into the driveway of the house, you saw Jason and Chrissy out on the wrap around porch, pacing. Your brain feared the worst, you quickly hopped out of the van and ran over to the pair, Eddie following behind you.
“Y/n, thank jesus!” Jason said as he watched you run up the steps and ran over to him and chrissy. Jason noticed Eddie standing behind you. He quickly moved you and chrissy behind him “How could you spike her you freak!" He asked as he walked closer to eddie. "I didn't do anything! It was your supposed friend's carver!" Eddie held his hand up. "Bullshit! They told me you slipped y/n something and took off!" You walked over and pushed the pair apart.
"He's telling the truth jason! It was Andy and chance!” you told Jason as you stood in front of eddie. “How do you know it was them y/n?!” Jason yelled. Chrissy held Jason from walking any closer to Eddie and yourself.
“Because I doubt if Eddie had drugged me, he would've been waiting at the hospital with me, and driven me home, fully conscious at that!” you reasoned. Jason sighed and looked at Eddie, who nodded in agreement with your words. “I swear I would never do such a thing to your sister!” Jason sighed at you both “How though, i mean i didn’t see you with them at all last night!” Jason ran a hand through his hand and looked at you for an answer. “I hung out with them, Jen and Patrick by chrissy’s fire pit, I assume Andy had me look for his keys just so Chance could slip something in my drink.” you explained, jason scoffed and connected the dots himself, the pair had been asking questions about you earlier that day during gym.
“Don’t think too much about it, freak, but thanks for helping y/n..” Jason said as he made his way to his car. “Where is he going?” Eddie asked as you three watched Jason drive away from the house. “Probably going to their houses!” you said nonchalantly.
“I’m gonna go inside now! Bye eddie!” chrissy said as she walked into your house. You turned to Eddie and smiled. “Um, thank you again for last night!” He gave you a tiny smile. “It’s not a problem y/n.. I should probably get going now. I guess I'll see you at school.” he started walking to his van, you heard tapping on the window behind you, you turned around and saw Chrissy in the window with a piece of paper that read “ASK HIM ON A DATE!” you laughed and nodded at her, you turned and ran over to eddie’s door.
“Eddie, wait!” He rolled his window down. “Yes?”
You took a deep breath. “Would you like to go on a date with me?” you held your breath for his response. He let out a chuckle.
“I’ll see you tonight at 8, Same diner as last night.” you smiled and nodded at him. “I look forward to it munson!” you smiled and started walking into your house as eddie drove away.
“What did he say?!” chrissy asked as she walked over to you. “I get to see him tonight!” you both squealed and celebrated your new date.

this love | steve harrington x fem!reader
Y/N and Steve broke up when she left for college, but that doesn’t mean they don’t love each other anymore
notes: part 5/9 of my 100 followers celebration! i have no idea how american colleges/universities work so yeah. au where the s4 ending didn’t, so max and eddie are alive and well :))
these hands had to let them go free, and this love came back to me.
Cyndi Lauper played through Y/N’s speakers as she passed by the sign that says Welcome to Hawkins.
After a grueling first year, Y/N was on her way back to Hawkins for summer break.
She missed this town. It was nothing as compared to Chicago, but for some reason Y/N still loved going back home whenever she can.
She passed through downtown, looking at the scenery, how much changed, what were the new shops and such.
Y/N’s parents were waiting on their front yard as she pulled up. They were all smiles, very evident that they missed their only daughter.
She got out of the car and made a bee-line to her parents, hugging both of them.
“Oh, honey! How’s college? How were the boys and the parties? Oh I bet you had so much fun!” her mom gushed, making her dad shake his head.
“Please, she takes after me. She focused on her studies, didn’t you sweetheart?” he said as her mom snorted.
Their bantering and teasing continued as Y/N looked across the street. She was surprised when she saw a group in the front yard of the house across from hers. All of them with confusion written across their faces, except one. He had a shocked face that turned into a very bright smile as he ran across the street.
“Y/N!” Steve yelled, arms wide open in process, ready to hug the girl.
Her parents stopped their playful argument as Steve made his way to Y/N.
Y/N also ran towards him as he enveloped her into a bone-crushing hug. The same type of hug that makes all of her worries and troubles disappear. The type that she missed the most when she was in Chicago.
“Hi, Steve! How are you?” she said, hugging him back.
“Still the same, still stuck in this town,” he replied with a smile on his as he withdrew from the hug.
This statement made Y/N feel guilty. She remembered all the times they planned their life together. Both of them going to the same campus and then moving in, getting married, and then kids.
But in turn for the worse, Steve didn’t get in to any of the colleges he wanted with his grades. So Steve stuck around in Hawkins. And both of them knew that even if their relationship was strong, it was not strong enough to last a long-distance relationship. They both knew what they had to do.
The day Y/N and Steve broke up was the day before summer break. Steve thought that it would be well to break up now so Y/N won’t spend her first week of college crying. Though they remained on good terms, both of their hearts still ached with the break up.
The two also tried to get back out the dating scene, but it was never the same. Both of them were hung up with one another to look for a new partner.
“Hey, listen, I need to unpack. But we’ll catch up later, yeah?” Y/N asked.
“Of course, of course. Welcome home, Y/N,” Steve smiled.
Welcome home, indeed, she thought as she went inside her family’s house and Steve went back to the group of people he was with earlier.

“Is that her?” Robin asked when Steve came back, opening the door to his house to let the others in.
Steve just nodded closing the door once everybody was in.
“Her? Who is her?” Eddie asked.
“Y/N. Steve’s one true great love,” Dustin replied for Steve.
“Shut up, Henderson,” he replied, shoving the boy in the process.
“She back now, what do want to do? You’ve been miserable since you two broke up,” Max asked.
“I don’t know,” Steve replied once more.
The kids started spewing out reasons why they should get back together.
“You need to get her back!”
“You still love her!
“She makes the best cookies, please get her back!”
“Alright, alright, everybody shut up! Yeah? As much as I would love to get her back, she’s only here for the summer, yeah? And I do not want to lose her for the second time.”

Later that night, Steve knocked on the L/N’s door and Y/N answered the door.
“Hey, Steve! What brings you here?”
“Hi, Y/N! Listen can we talk?”
“Sure,” she replied as she stepped outside of her house so they can talk in private, “What do you want to talk about Steve?”
“I missed you so much, Y/N. I’ve been miserable this past year. And I know you’ve probably met new people who are much more interesting than me, but I just want you to know that I still am in love with you and I always will. If your going to break my heart, please do it gently,” Steve replied, pacing back in forth, trying to avoid Y/N’s eyes.
“Why will I ever break your heart again Steve? When I also missed you and still utterly in love with you, so much. But I need to go back to Chicago this fall, what will happen to us then?”
“We’ll make it work, yeah?”
“Yeah.”
The two just stood there looking at each other until Steve kissed her. He poured all of the feelings he felt for her the past year and she kissed him back just the same.
The two were continuing the relationship that was put on hold. And this time, they’ll both make sure that it’ll be a happily ever after.
