yo ah! hearts till spin the open waves
Oh, come aboard me hearties, and listen to my tale, Of a sailor's life upon the waves, where the winds do wail. We'll hoist the sails up high, steer towards the sun, And sing a shanty as we go until our journey's done. With every heave and ho, we'll pull the ropes so tight, And sing of treasure buried deep, beneath the ocean's might. Our voices ring out strong, as we face the raging sea, And our shanty echoes far and wide, for all the world to see. So raise a glass of rum, me lads, and let the good times flow, For we're the kings of all the waves, wherever we may go. And when our voyage is over, and we've reached the distant shore, We'll sing another shanty, for the adventures that we bore.

songs of a siren
characters: venti, beidou, kazuha, albedo ⥠mention(s): xiangling, ningguang, sucrose, timaeus, peepaw warning(s): yo ho ho me hearties
note: whenever i write venti, i always have 27 tabs of rhymezone opened up. my rhyming vocabulary will be unstoppable in a few weeks time. no one can stop me, it will be sublime
Venti:
Venti has seen many things in his free-spirited life. He's seen many different lives and creatures, but something he has never seen before are the fabled sirens of the sea.
"Beware of the sirens!" The old captains of Teyvat warned, "Their music is captivating and will drown you into sea."
"Music?" The bard asks with sparkling eyes.
The old sea captain squints her eyes. "Bard, do you have selective hearing? The sirens will drown you in sea."
Venti laughs, "But I've never heard of singing sirens! Just sirens. I wish to see one."
"Younglings these days," the captain shakes her head, tipping her chair back just enough so she wouldn't fall.
"I'm actually older than I look, you can see me in many books," he chuckles, hopping off the table right outside of Angel's Share.
"Thank you for your sea tips captain!" He says, tipping his hat in a bow with a hand behind his back. "I'll put it to jolly good use. With your knowledge, I'll make sure nothing bad will happen!"
Venti sneakily snatches an apple from a sleeping person's hand and saunters on his way, whistling a few notes.
"Sirens of the Sea will be my next tune!"
Everyday, Venti comes out playing his lyre to the sea, hoping he would be able to hear someone sing back. He made his winds carry his song to the deepest part of the waters, trying to catch the attention of sirens.
And everyday, he would return to the tavern, fruitless as the patrons pat his back singing a drunken song.
The young adults nearby would shake their heads, kindly telling Venti that sirens are not real. The grandparents' eyes would twinkle when they heard Venti playing the song for the sirens while kids would sit next to Venti who played his lyre at the docks.
His green cape flew back as he played a different style of music, one that's more mellow and calm compared to the upbeat kind he plays so often. There, he swears he sees the flip of a tail far beyond the ocean.
He bid farewell to the children and apologize for not being to able to play more music for them. "I'll be back if you bring apples!"
Venti waves goodbye and walks out the exits of Mondstadt.
His legs brush the long grass, reaching to touch his hand as he hikes up Starsnatch Cliff, until he remembers he can fly. Oops.
Swirls of teal lift his feet, representing the winds carrying him to the top. The blue of the sky reflected on the waters, and he decides today is the perfect day to sing for his siren again.
Letting his lashes rest on his cheeks, he plays the same mellow tune at the docks, sometimes peeking with one eye to see if the siren is there.
That's when he hears it. The sound of a loud splash ringing in his ear. His lyre playing turns quick and exited, when looking down to see a bobbing head, and a colourful siren tail behind it.
Venti waves his hand wildly, stopping his lyre playing momentarily.
"A real siren!"
The siren freezes, and sinks a bit deeper in the water. The green bard slowly floats down with a friendly smile.
"Did you enjoy my music?" He asks in glee, waiting for an answer. Venti hovers right above the water so his clothes won't get wet. He sees the siren's eyes look at the instrument in his hand and pushes it to their face, making them lean back a bit from shock. "Do you wanna try the lyre?"
"The lyre?" The siren repeats, gliding a finger on the wood of the instrument.
"Just don't sing okay? I can't drown yet, my pride is still high, and the kids there would be in dismay."
The siren laughs, now gripping on the lyre, "Do you always speak like this?"
"Yep!" He says, relieved you feel comfortable with him and seem friendly too. He scratches the back of his head. "Although... you're taking this lightly. Is it true your singing drowns people?" He asks politely.
The tip of the siren's finger touches their lip, thinking. "Well, in some cases, it does."
Venti's eyes widen.
"But not in the way your folktale mention it!" The siren continues, now clasping on the lyre that Venti let go of, playing a few strings. "Sometimes when our folk sing, the sailors are curious where the singing comes from. But the sailor that spread the story of the deadly, singing sirens is The Sailor That Can't Swim."
"The Sailor That Can't Swim? Now that's a tale I need to hear! Though, I must say, I do pity for him."
The siren splashes Venti, making him dripping in cold water. The berette on his head now droops to his eyes. He grins mischievously as he wrings the water out, showing the hair he hides. A strong gust of wind dries the siren's face, making them go back in the water to splash Venti.
"Right, so," the siren pops out their head again. "It was my great great grandfather that actually sang the song. The sailor was curious and fell off his ship, but he didn't know how to swim and drowned. His first mate blamed my great great grandfather's singing for making his captain drown. We're not bad actually. We stopped singing music so close to the surface."
"Wouldn't that be a sight," the bard hums, listening to the song you play on his lyre while looking at the sky above. "Say, Siren. What do you want me to call you? Let me know before the day turns night"
"You ask me my name before telling me yours?" The siren teases, giving his lyre back.
"Ah! My apologies, I'm Venti the bard!... Uh, I can't seem to get a word that rhymes with 'apologies' that go great with my sentence, so I hope you accept my repentance."
"It's alright." The siren says. "I'm [Name]. It's not everyday I can make friends with someone from the surface."
[Name] draws a figure in the air. "My first surface friends told me to be wary of others, but I think I can trust you," [Name] glances at the green glass, strapped on Venti's hip. "One of them even has the same looking glass orb as you. A vision he called it."
Venti shrugs with a smile, feeling like he knows the person the siren was referring to, "I would like to make a song for you, [Name]. Let's have others know what a wonderful siren you are."
Kazuha:
He sits at the side of the ship, playing his leaf like a flute beautifully. The crewmates on The Crux hum the same notes on repeat. They are broken records.
"Even the sturgeon and the ray, they get the urge and start to play!" A kid sings out loud, skipping behind Kazuha.
"Hmm hmm mmm" the kid hums, replacing the words he doesn't know with just the tune itself. "Under the sea!"
Kazuha sighs, letting go of his leaf for the ocean winds to take. His finger traces the lines of the ship, bored and somewhat annoyed. Beidou's crew had been singing the same song for hours after leaving Liyue, showing no signs of ever stopping. It was like a curse.
He looks over the horizon, the crescent moon shining on the ocean, making the ripples turn to satin sheets covering the water. The world is asleep, but not The Crux Crew.
He lets his hair free from the tie; snow hair moves with the breeze, waiting for his friend to appear.
A tall woman settles her hand on the boy's shoulders, sighing. "It's time to get rest. Your siren friend won't come, especially if sirens don't exist," she says saying the last part to herself.
"Beidou," Kazuha greets without turning his head.
"Come on, kid," Beidou insists. "It's late."
Kazuha stays seated, looking over the waters to find his siren friend. "I think I'll stay here a bit more. The ocean calls me as much as the wind."
He feels Beidou's hand leaving is shoulder. He silently thanks him for respecting his wishes.
"Good night, Captain. See you tomorrow," he says waving her off.
The sea captain lifts a hand while turning away, even when she knows Kazuha isn't looking.
Kazuha waits.
He waits some more.
Maybe Beidou is right. His siren friend won't be back today. He'll just wait again tomorrow.
He begins to stand until he sees a familiar figure in the ocean.
"[Name]," he breathes out gently.
A shimmering siren tail waves at him instead of a hand. Kazuha laughs and waves eagerly. He walks along the side, reaching one of the 'emergency boats' strapped on the ship and untangles its ropes, letting it fall to the ocean with a splash.
He gently falls down, the winds he summons cushioning his landing onto the small boat. His ruby eyes spot something in your hand and he asks about it.
"This? A weird green boy gave me this thing called a lyre. Said he had tons more so he gave me this one after making a song with me." [Name] presents it to Kazuha with both hands, grinning. "The boy even taught me a song."
"Oh?" He tilts his head, "Go ahead, play the song. Perhaps some day we may duet."
The siren sends him a thumbs up and start pulling the strings of a lyre.
Kazuha feels his eye twitch. "This song... what's the name?"
"Do you not like it?"
"No it's just... the crew was singing this song all day. I was wondering what song it is."
"Oh the green boy and I made it. I didn't know it would go that famous!"
"Hmm, keep playing."
Kazuha didn't mind the song the siren plays. After all, when [Name] plays the song, it sounds enchanting. He understands why people tend to fall overboard when hearing a siren play music. In fact, he almost drowned himself when hearing his siren friend sing for the first time.
...
He was preparing a boat to escape Inazuma by a secluded beach covered with sakura trees and many plants of nature.
Placing the planks in one spot, he hears a song in the sea.
Strange.
Enchanted by the singing, he walks out to sea. The water reaching his ankles, his knee then soon his chest to look for what was making the music. The sounds of nature call him back, desperately trying to make him safe, but he was too curious. The singing stops and Kazuha sinks under the sea to hear clearer, but instead his eyes widen and a few bubbles escape his mouth.
Glowing eyes stare at him.
A few scales pattern adorning their face. He looks behind the face and sees a tail, a fish tale. He knows it's a siren.
He sinks deeper, noting the details on the siren. How human ears aren't there, it's replaced by these webbed-like frills looking like a crown. He is amazed, and it seems the siren is too by seeing land legs for the first time so close.
Kazuha kicks his feet up, remembering he needs air to breathe, but a pesky seaweed wrapped around his leg, not letting go. The salt water stings his eyes, hurting more from every second. The lungs that need air start to fail him.
The siren in front of him flicks it's tail, quickly weaving their hands to untangle the boy from the seaweed.
The last of the bubbles escape Kazuha's lips. He shuts his eyes as he feels the drag of a current and the arms of the siren taking him to who knows where.
"So many... regrets," he thinks, letting himself be carried by a creature from only fairytales.
His head breaks the water tension and he immediately gasps for air. He coughs out water, chest heaving against the sandy beach, trying to calm himself. He stills, watching the siren lay on their stomach next to him, drawing flowers and fishes on the sand with the tip of their finger.
Sand sticks on Kazuha's wet skin and clothes.
"Thank you," he says weakly.
The siren perks their head up, hearing Kazuha's voice. "You're welcome!" They return to drawing on the sand and speak up without diverting attention from the drawing, "You're... the first human I've met."
Kazuha props himself up, his elbows acting as support. "Oh really? You're the first siren I met."
"No, duh. You had this dumb look on your face when you saw me," the siren teases, now looking at Kazuha. "All the other sirens say that humans are looking to hurt us. Why is it you don't want to hurt me?"
"Well- I was on the verge of dying."
The sound of feet stomping on the ground startles Kazuha and his new friend. Both of them sit up straight, feeling the ground shake.
"The Raiden Shogun..."
Kazuha flips his head to his unfinished boat and stands, quickly trying to complete it.
"Human," the siren calls, now back in the ocean. Kazuha looks at the siren. "Your broken boat will not take you anywhere. Just hold on to my back."
Kazuha chuckles and runs to the siren, knowing what they said is true. The guards will take him the second they reach him.
He trudges through the water, and clasps his arms around the siren's neck. "I know of a ship that can hide me for the time being." He says.
"So... what's your name?"
...
The song [Name] plays ceases, and Kazuha claps his hands lightly, careful not to wake the crew. He gives a small, "Heh" and leans on his small boat to be closer to the siren's face.
Their faces draw closer and [Name's] cheeks feel warm. Kazuha looks like a prince under the moon and stars shining on him.
Delicate hands make their way to cradle [Name's] jaw, making their foreheads touch. His thumb swipes [Name's] bottom lip all while gazing into their dilated eyes.
"I think your siren family are calling you," Kazuha says cheekily and quickly moving back away from [Name] after hearing the sound of other sirens calling for them.
"Oh, I- Well-" [Name] takes a deep breath before speaking, "Will you be here again?"
"Just as the moon awaits for the sun to rise once more, I will stay as well. I'll wait for your arrival once more at the same spot."
Beidou:
The well known Captain of the Crux Fleet does not believe in sirens. Dragons and the water form called Osial is one thing. Sirens, or better yet- merpeople are a kids' tale in her mind. Not even after Kazuha telling her he befriended a siren.
It's a child's tale; a myth not to believe in, which is ridiculous in Kazuha's opinion because they live in a world of myths.
She stands, sitting on a box of crates, peeking at her anemo wielding friend untangle the ropes of the emergency boat to get down closer to the waters.
Despite her crew telling her to rest at nights, she doesn't. As captain, it's her duty to keep watch after all her crew members, ensuring full safety on the fleet. She watches Kazuha always docking down from her ship to he his siren, but she never follows, only seeing his white hair descend from her sight.
Kazuha harnesses the wind to lift himself up back on the ship after hours being with the so-called siren. His hands move, controlling the wind once again to lift the boat, strapping it back on the ship. His ruby eyes glint to Beidou, who waves at him.
"Enjoy time with the siren?"
Kazuha sighs, knowing Beidou's doing this for the sake of it. "Beidou, they're real. My friend and every other siren in the waters." He says, trying to cover his flushed face by turning away from her.
"Right, right. Well, you only have one hour to sleep at most until the sun rises again."
"What about you?" Asks Kazuha, his back still facing Beidou. "Not even the bravest of warriors could stand their posts if they lack the energy to do so."
Beidou places her hands on her hips and laughs, "Come on, kid. I'll even tuck you in."
"Thank you... but I'm quite sure I can tuck myself in."
"Nonsense. You'll be tucked in."
She takes Kazuha to his own chambers in the ship, amused how he did not struggle against her.
After tucking him in, the tall captain stands at the figure of her ship and overlooks the sea. It is coincidental how when the topic of sirens came up the conversations, there was a song accompanied by it. The song will be the death of her.
Her chestnut hair weaves in the wind as she inhales deeply, enjoying the crisp air. She spots the seen peeking out from it's blanket of blue waves. She is blessed with another day.
One by one, her crew starts to file out. She greets them a good morning and with a surprise, "Crew! We're heading to Liyue. Chef Xiangling sent her kind invitation to eat for free!"
Woops and hoorays echo. Food made by Xiangling is the best.
The Captain lifts a hand and everyone quiets, "Set sail to Liyue!"
Upon reaching Liyue, Beidou swears something was following them, but every time she looks back, there would be nothing. She shrugs it off, thinking it was the lack of sleep getting to her and continues to lower the sails, preparing to land.
"I'll meet you there," she tells her crew. They accept their orders, already knowing were to go. They chatter their way to Wanmin Restaurant. She turns to Kazuha, seeing as he won't leave without her. "Kazuha, has something been following us?" She asks, knowing his sensitivity to things around him.
"Yes, but you won't believe me if I said what, or who, was following us."
Beidou groans, "Kazuha, sirens are just a folklore. I've spent years in my reckless teenage life looking for sirens. There just aren't any." She slaps Kazuha's back, "Let's go eat. You still look weary."
Kazuha purses his lips, looking at his Captain dead in the eyes. "[Name] is waiting below this ship. [Name] wouldn't follow us to Liyue unless something needs to be said." He waits for Beidou's reply.
"Alright, it's about time I met this siren friend of yours."
Surprised, Kazuha parts his mouth. "Wait, really?"
Beidou gives no answer, but instead unties the boat Kazuha uses to go 'meet his siren friend.' She waits on the tiny boat for Kazuha to join. When he takes a step in, Beidou releases the ropes she was once holding and falls to the ocean. This part of the ship is hidden from the people of Liyue, and Kazuha thanks his luck because who knows what people will do when they see a siren?
The small boat rocks side to side, balancing itself. Beidou lazily reaches for the water and splashes Kazuha's face who only tightens his lip in response. "Relax," the woman teases. "Your friend will be here if they're real, right?"
Kazuha summons a leaf, twiddling it with his fingers, waiting until he jumps in the water.
Beidou sharply turns to Kazuha, leaning over the boat to reach for him. "Kazuha!"
She jumps in after him with a smooth dive.
And that's when she sees that sirens are true.
The salt water stings her eyes as she looks at Kazuha making hang motions, pointing to her and up to the surface. The siren nods, understanding, swimming to Beidou. They wave, chuckling with the jaw-slacked face the sea captain makes.
Bubbles escape her lungs, so she treads up quickly, breathing in the air and then coming back down. Kazuha swims beside the siren and shows a smug face, as if saying "What did you say about sirens?"
Divine is the only word to describe Kazuha's siren friend. From the shimmering tale to the beauty of their smile, Beidou can only describe the siren as simply divine (a word Ningguang taught her).
The siren's webbed-like ear perks up to the surface. They tap Kazuha's shouder and cup their ears and point up.
Breathtaking.
Beidou notes how Kazuha and his friend communicate with each other so effectively with only a look in the eye and a few hand movements.
Kazuha nods, smiling then swims up to the surface, but Beidou stays, amazed by the tail of the siren.
"Up," the siren mouths. Beidou remembers the pain in her lungs for not having to get air in a while. She swims up, giving the siren one last look and breaking free from the water.
Strands of brown hair stick to her skin, looking at Kazuha with so much child-like wonder.
"Kazuha, is your siren friend single by any chance?"
Albedo:
Rumours of the singing siren spread through Mondstadt. Greeting Timaeus and Sucrose, he ignores the new song that spread around Teyvat called "A Siren's Tale," but he can't help but wonder if the tales are true.
On rare days Albedo isn't on Dragonspine or his office, he's sketching alongside the water and the marine life inside. It's a new interest he's taken in after learning everything above land. The ocean is so huge, there's an endless amount of questions under the sea.
He finishes the last stroke of a drawing. The Snapdragon and the crab next to it look realistic in his canvas. He sits on an isolated rock, a good distance away from the beach, enjoying the calming tunes of the ocean.
Wait- tunes?
He almost drops his canvas and charcoal, making eye contact with a bobbing head. Curious eyes flit from Albedo to his sketch in hand.
His immediate reaction is to create a flower to lift and up to glide back to shore, but he can't.
The stranger drifts closer to the rock Albedo sits on, revealing a tail that flickers behind it.
A siren.
"You aren't Venti, but I'll take it. I love someone of arts and crafts
Albedo tilts his head quizzically, charmed, "I am indeed not Venti, but thank you for the compliment." He takes a while, studying the details on the siren. "You're not what the song describes you as."
Lifting themselves onto the rock beside Albedo, the siren brings up their tail to wrap around what they sit on. "The song? Oh the one Venti made. I'm so sure we described myself perfectly, partly because I helped make it."
Albedo takes another canvas from his bag and draws circles to get the base of a face, "Well, physically yes. It captures your looks, but never did it once mention how enchanting you are."
The siren sputters, obviously not expecting a stranger to flirt. "What- huh?"
Albedo laughs, looking at the siren that sits next to him, analyzing their features before returning to his sketch. "I apologize. Socializing is not my thing."
"Yeah, I could tell. People usually tell me their names before saying things like that. Granted, I only met three other people before you."
"One being Venti?"
"Yeah. I visit him around this time everyday, but he said he's struggling to pay back a bartender so he's hiding with an old friend in Liyue. His friend's name is Peepaw. Should've been back by now, but he's gone."
"..Oh."
Two fingers push down the drawing and he looks at the siren, confused.
"Are you drawing me?" They grin. "It's fantastic, but why?"
Albedo explains, "I tend to sketch what fascinates me. Your beauty was surprising, I couldn't help but draw you." His charcoal grazes the canvas so swiftly, it's dancing on ice. The black tool turns to a stub, until it turns to nothing but ashes on his finger. His sketch is only half finished.
"Excuse this lousy drawing. I appear to be out of charcoal."
The siren jumps into the water and comes back up with rusted metal from a sword. "Will this work?"
"Ah, that's a sword. I can't use that for sketching."
"Oh..."
Albedo lifts a finger, a thought is said out loud, "I realize I have yet to ask your name. I'm Albedo, Chief Alchemist of The Knights of Favonius."
"Wow that's a long name." The siren takes a deep breath and speaks in one go, "Hello, Albedochiefalchemistofthenightsoffavonius. Pleasure to meet you, I'm [Name]."
"How charming." He says, putting his canvas in his bag. "I mean to ask another question, would it be alright to visit you again soon? You live under the sea, surely you know about the mysteries we have there."
[Name] looks at him like he was an alien. "Are you for real?"
"I'm pretty sure I am."
"You can just tell me you want to hang out. I know I'm fun," they say puffing their chest, proud of themselves.
"You certainly have high views of yourself," Albedo laughs, covering the bottom half of his face with his charcoal stained hand. "I'll be here tomorrow, if you would take your time to see me again."

""Are you ok?" I asked Bucky with hopeful eyes. "I-... I uh.. I'm ok. What happened?" He asked me as he sat up. Steve had caught up and dropped down next to us. "Are you ok! I saw you get shot!" Steve said. Bucky looked down at his shoulder. It was still covered in blood, but he could definitely tell something was off. He saw the wound, but it was small, but there was a lot of blood. He pulled down his shirt from his shoulder trying to see if there were more wounds, but that was it. He looked really confused. He slowly looked up at me. He tried to search my eyes for an answer. "I thought I got shot too. But I.. must have been blown back by something." Bucky looked at me to see if I had the answer for him.
"Blown back by what? Buck I saw you! Someone pointed a gun at you.. and shot it! How are you not hurt?!" Steve asked confused. I tried to avoid both their gazes. I wanted to explain, but I didn't know how. I startled a bit when Bucky put his hand on my leg all of a sudden. My leg was already completely healed. "I don't know.. Lets just get outta here before more Hydra agents decide to jump out." Bucky said as he stood up. He put his hand out to me and I took it to stand up. You could see Steve was at a loss for words. He was looking around him to see if there was a logical answer, but there was non.
"Com on, Bucky is right. We gotta go." I told Steve. He seemed to shake off whatever thought he had and started walking.
-
"Alright. Are you ready for today?" I asked Bucky as I jumped in bed next to him. I was already dressed for today. I was going to teach him how to work my knifes, or any knifes really. "I guess so." Bucky said a bit unsure as he turned around in bed to face me. "You know, usually I'm the one to wake you up." He told me as he pulled me over on his chest and gave me a kiss on my lips. I smiled in our kiss. No matter what thought or worry I had before the kiss it always seemed to go away when I was with Bucky. It gave me some sort of peace. Like nothing mattered what was happening around us. "I love you." I said as I slowly pulled back and hovered above him. "Now, tomorrow and forever." Bucky said with a big smile on his face and pulled me in tighter before letting me go and getting out of bed.
He was not wearing any clothes and I couldn't help myself but wander down. His back was turned to me which gave me a nice opportunity to look at his ass. So firm, I just wanted to smack it. I laid down and put my head on my hand. But as soon as I got comfortable he had found his underwire and put it on. Bucky noticed that I was looking so I gave him a big pout. He laughed and turned back getting his clothes. "You can see me naked again tonight." I snorted at that. Always so confidant.
After a moment of quiet Bucky spoke up. "So we're not gonna talk about what happened yesterday?" I looked at his back confused. "What do you mean?" I asked him, not understanding what he was talking about. As he got finished getting dressed he sat in front of me. He looked at his hands for a moment before looking at me again. Looking for the right words. "I got shot yesterday." That made me sit up right straight away.
I opened my mouth but no words came out. "I know there are some things you can't explain, but this one... I don't know how and I don't know what, but somehow you did something and now I just have a scratch on my shoulder. I need some kind of logical explanation for this.. Because I can't think of one." Bucky continued on. I owed him an explanation, that was for sure. "I-.." I closed my eyes, like that would give me the answer. "There is no logical explanation.. You did get shot, but..." I opened my eyes and looked at him. "There are things I can do the involve healing and.. I healed you.." I stammered on. Of course Bucky looked very confused, but he was trying to understand.
"That's how you healed yourself." He stated as he put his hand on my leg. I nodded at that. I didn't have to try technically, like with Bucky, but I still healed myself. "Alright. So you're a witch. Like in books and movies." He told himself more than me. "Not like in the Hobbit though." I laughed at him. I was ore relieved that he didn't make a big deal out of this. "Those are wizards." He tried to say serious, but failed as he started laughing.
After a moment of laughing I put my hand on his left shoulder. "Thank you." I told him. "For what? I should be thanking you." Bucky said as he smirked. "Thank you for not making a big deal out of this." That made his smirk turn into a smile. He put his left hand over the hand I had put on his shoulder and squeezed it. "You told me you would tell me when you're ready. And besides.. How amazing is it?! I am engaged with a witch! Not many people can say that." I laughed at that relieved. "You're a dork." He smirked and leaned forward for a quick kiss. "Your dork. And you gotta teach this dork how to fight with knifes... Soo lets go." He said as he stood up and pulled me with him with my hand.
-
We were at the base in London. I was strapping in my knifes and Bucky was looking at knifes he wanted to train with. There was so much to choose from and Bucky was taking it very serious into finding the right knifes. "You almost ready?" I asked him putting my hands on my hips. "Yeah I'm just trying to see..." He trailed off. I huffed at that. Then I'll choose. I walked over to the table of knifes. "These will do." I said as I picked up two knifes and flipped them around in my hands. The were very light and should be easy for him to handle.
"You gotta teach me how to do that." Bucky said in wonder which made me flip them around in my hands again before I handed the knifes to Bucky.
"Ok, so first of all.. Try not to stab yourself. Second try not to stab me." He scoffed at that. And I rolled my eyes. "Alright come here." I said as I walked towards the middle of the room and we stood slightly apart. "Besides wanting to know the tricks you need to know where to stab." I walked around him and took my knife from my holster.
"You want to avoid the ribs, because it can get stuck sometimes. If you go for the stomach it can get ugly. But there are two places that if you want to kill someone it will be the easiest." I grabbed his shoulder and pretended to almost stab him in the back. This made him startle and that made me smirk. "If you go for the lower back and hit up for the kidneys they usually won't come back up. And the neck." I said as I moved my knife up to his throat, but not putting any pressure on him. "If you go for the neck I assure you they will not come back up."
"This is nice and all, but I wanna see you in action." I could hear the smirk through his voice. And again I rolled my eyes. I removed my knife and put it in my holster again. Then I gave him a push forward. "Not so fast. You know where to hit, but you also need to know how to defend yourself if you ever get in a situation like this."
"To start, it is better to fight with one knife at a time. So if for what ever reason you lose one you'll have a backup." Bucky nodded taking it a little more seriously now. "Then obviously you don't want to be an open target. Keep your arms close to your body. And even though you have a knife in one hand and nothing in the other you can still hit them.. or kick them. Alright.. I'll show you now. Lets see how you can defend yourself Sargent." He nodded at that and got ready.
I took my knife out and flipped it in my hand. I charged forward and tried to go for his head, but Bucky was able to duck away which made me miss. He's fast, that's good. I went to kick him with my left leg which made him stumble back. I advanced forward again flipping my knife and went for his torso. If this was a real fight I would have hit him. "This would hurt." I said as I pushed him back. "I thought you said go for the kidneys and neck." Bucky said as he got back in his stance. "Yes, but if this is life or death I will try to hurt you no matter what to make you slow down. Now try to fight back." I charged forward again but faster. With my right hand I went for his neck but he blocked me and pushed me back. "Good... But you can do better." I charged at him again, but I quickly flipped the knife in my left hand and went for his neck again. This time he wasn't fast enough. "Dead." I told him. "You gotta teach me that one." Bucky said with a smile on his face.
"And you gotta fight back if you want to live." I told him a little serious but half joking. "I don't wanna hurt you doll." He told me seriously. "I promise you, you won't hurt me. Now try and get a grip on that knife and see how it feels." He did as he was told and swung it in front of him a few times to see how it feels.
"Hey! There you are." Steve said as he came walking in the room we were training at. "Hey Steve." I said as I turned towards him. "We got another mission. Tomorrow were going to Austria. Hydra is going to be shipping weapons on a train there and Zola should be there as well." I nodded at Steve. Maybe they would also be moving the Tesserect on the train. This could be a great opportunity. "What are you guys doing?" Steve asked looking over at Bucky who was still swinging his knife around and trying to flip it every now and then. "I'm teaching him how to fight with a knife.. But he's not very good." I said the last part a little quieter. "I heard that." Bucky said which made me and Steve laugh.
"I'm gonna head back up. Try not to hurt yourself." Steve said the last part to Bucky before turning to me. "Don't do anything I wouldn't do." He said jokingly before walking away.
"Ok, dork, lets get back to it." I said as I clapped my hands and turning towards Bucky.
-
"Doll.. I don't even think they are as cruel as you in the army." Bucky said as we came back in out apartment. I'll be honest I kinda gave him hell while we were training, but I want him to become good. I want him to defend himself. "So you rather have training from them then from me?" I asked smiling already knowing the answer. "Never." He said as he put his arms around me from behind and kissed me on my cheek. "I need a shower." He said sniffing himself. "Or we.." He started. I shook my head. "I don't think so." I said as I pushed him in the bathroom. "You go get that shower and after that I will. Then we need sleep, cause we're going to Austria tomorrow." Bucky gave me a big pout. "But.." "No." I interrupted before shutting the door in his face.
I smirked as I heard the shower turning on. I went to lay down on the bed and wait for my turn. It only took about ten minutes before Bucky came out of the bathroom with his towel sitting low on his hips. I gave him a quick up and down look which earned me a smirk from him before going into the bathroom myself to take a shower.
For some reason Loki popped in my head. I hadn't seen him in a while now. I hadn't seen anyone from Asgard in a while. They all knew I preferred being on Earth, but at least once a year I would visit them. I hadn't done that in a couple of years now. I missed Thor being his proud self and his stupid jokes, even though sometimes I'm not sure if he's joking. I missed Frigga, she would always teach me an new spell or practice some magic with me. Sif is the best drinking buddy anybody could ask for. Odin is.. Odin. Heimdall is basically my father, he has taught me how to fight with a sword and just taught me many lessons. I am honestly always happy that he is the first one I see as I go to Asgard. Then Loki, as annoying as he can be.. He has been my friend for so long. He had taught me a lot about fighting as well, but what I like the most about him that he was always up for an adventure. He had shown me many other planets and different realms. I know it was just an opportunity for him to get away from his family, but we always had fun doing it.. or usually we did. This had been the first time we had actually been in a fight like this.. And now I can't see him at all. Maybe after I tell Bucky what I am I could take him to Asgard. Most likely not a lot of people will be happy with that, but I'll deal with that after. Bucky wouldn't believe his eyes if he went to Asgard. I thought smiling to myself.
I turned the shower off and dried myself. I looked in the foggy mirror and looked at the dog tags hanging around my neck. I took them in my hand looking at them. Barnes. It is a nice name. Y/n Barnes. I thought to myself. "Y/n Barnes." I said now softly smiling. I like the sound of it. My name had been Y/n Ironside or Ăvi for so long now, but I would love nothing more than to take his name. "Y/n Barnes." I said again. It sounded perfect. It made me even more excited for the war to be over and marry him. I let go of my dog tags and walked out of the bathroom with my towel around me.
As soon as I stepped out I heard Bucky whistle. "Wow! So beautiful, Doll!" He said with a smirk plastered on his face. I narrowed my eyes at him playfully. "How about now?" I said as I dropped my towel. He bit his lip. "There is nothing more beautiful in the entire universe."
I walked over to his side of the bed, swinging my hips as I did. Bucky's eyes never lost sight of my body. He was trying to take all of me in. Through the sheets I could already see something growing. I straddled his lap and he tried to sit up, but I pushed him down. "You did enough exercise for today." I told him as I grinded down on him which made him inhale sharply.
I moved closer and planted my lips on his. His hands went for my hips helping me move on his length as there were still sheets in between us. I felt him getting harder and myself getting wetter. Our want for each other growing. "I want you." Bucky said between kisses as he tried to go for my folds but I grabbed his hand, stopping him. "I said you did enough exercise for today." Bucky snorted. I moved his hand back on my hip and moved the sheets out of the way. His length sprung and I started grinding him again. Hitting my sensitive bud as I did.
I started moving my hips faster and felt a knot form. I started to moan in the kisses, which made Bucky grab my hips tighter. I pressed down harder which started to make me see stars. "Cum for me baby." He whispered in my ear. And I did, my hips losing it's pace. My vision clouded with stars and it slowly went away.
Bucky tried to sit up to flip me over. "I said, you did enough exercise today." I told him with a smile as I pushed him back. I grabbed his length and pumped him a few times before lining myself up. I slowly sat down, his length stretching my walls. When I was ready I started moving slowly. His whole length almost out before taking it all in again. Bucky was a moaning mess underneath me.
When the suspense was almost killing us both I started to move faster. His length filling me perfectly with every thrust. Both out moans became louder and Bucky's hips started to twitch. His hands were grabbing my hips tighter with every thrust. I put one of my hands on his chest and one in his hair. I went down to trail kisses under his ears. This earned me a growl and Bucky started to thrust up in to me. Every thrust went faster and harder, hitting all the right spots. Soon I felt another knot building up quickly. My moans became even louder and I was almost afraid the neighbors would complain tomorrow. Bucky took this as his que to now move his hand and rub it over my still sensitive bud. "Oh-.. Oh God-..Bucky." I said softly as I came undone.
Bucky started to quicken his pace before letting out a groan. Snapping his hips up irregularly and slowing down. He put his arms around me, trying to pull me closer, if that was even possible. He gave me a kiss on the top of my head. "I love you." He said in my hair. "I love you too." I told him as I moved, his length slipping out of me, giving me an empty feeling.
I sighed after a moment. "What's wrong?" Bucky asked sleepily. "I can't wait for this war to be over so we can marry." That made him pull me closer to his chest. "Me neither." Again it was like I could hear the smirk in his voice. "I'll be Mrs. Barnes." I told him. "I like that. Y/n Barnes." Hearing him say it made me even more excited. "Bucky and Y/n Barnes." Soon. Soon that would be real.

The Siren Borough
((I need a break from the reincarnation AU, so I figured Iâd write this real quick. The ideaâs been knocking around in my head for a bit, anyway, partially based on this post. Enjoy, yâall.))
...
Brooklyn had long been known as the âsirenâ borough, the nickname having started years before Race even became a Newsie, but heâd never really thought about why.
True, many of the Brooklyn boys and girls were deceptively pretty, leading many to make the mistake of underestimating them. Because not all of the Brooklyn kids looked big and strong, (though many of them did) but all of them were capable of handling themselves in a fight, with even their smallest Littles able to throw good punches.
Of course, other boroughs had attractive yet dangerous kids, too, and though Brooklyn certainly had the bloodiest reputation and the most known kills, it still didnât explain why people called them the Siren Borough.
Race didnât know the real reason until the first time he spent the night in Brooklyn, a few months after the strike.
He was staying over because Spot was hurt, because Brooklyn had gotten in a rumble with Queens.
Race had never stayed so late, and heâd definitely never seen the Brooklyn kids tipsy the way they were now, passing around a few bottles of cheap booze as what must be every Newsie over the age of 14 lounged around on the docks, trying to distract themselves from the pain of their injuries and shake off lingering aggression.
They were called the Siren borough for a reason, apparently.
Because apparently when Brooklyn kids got drunk, they sang.
They sang folk songs and sea melodies, the kind of showtunes Medda performed and even a few hymns, though not many went to church.
They sounded pretty damn good, and Race could see why people called them sirens.
âWhy didnât ya tell me every single person in your borough can sing?â he asked Spot, genuinely impressed as he watched Hildy and Joey drunkenly imitating Meddaâs showgirls as York, Hotshot, and Rafaela laughed at them.
Spot chuckled, âYa never asked. But why did ya think everybody called us the âSiren Borough?ââ
Hildy and Joeyâs voices echoed across the water, hauntingly beautiful despite the fact that it wasnât a song appropriate to be singing in a place where children could possibly hear.
Then Race realized.
He grinned, âUs?â
âOh, no.â
âAs in, you can sing, too?â
âNo, Racer.â
âCâmon, please?â Race begged, âPlease, light of my life, love of mine?â
Spot laughed, âYouâre ridiculous, yâknow that?â
âI make a point to be. Câmon, Spottie, please? Sing somethinâ for me?â
Spot glanced over at his kids, who were all pretty absorbed in listening to York singing some old love song Race didnât recognize.
Him and Spot had sat so far off because... well, they were drinking, inhibitions were lowered, and though Spotâs inner circle of trust wouldnât give a damn if they got mushy (though none of them except Hotshot knew about Spot and Raceâs relationship), there were plenty of kids who would, and would use it against him if they knew.
âWell, there is one old song I know,â Spot admitted, âMy ma used to sing it, and she said she got it from her great-grandmother. I ainât sang it in a while, though. I ainât sang in a while, period, so donât expect it to be good.â
Race shrugged, unbothered, âItâs you, so Iâm sure itâs good.â
âShut up.â
âGonna sing?â
Spot rolled his eyes, but he took a deep breath and cleared his throat.
âYo Ho, Yo Ho, a pirateâs life for me. We pillage, we plunder we rifle and loot, drink up me hearties, yo ho.â
Race laughed, âWas your... great-great grandma a pirate?â
Spot just glared at him and kept singing.
âWe kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot, drink up me hearties, yo ho. Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a pirate's life for me. We extort, we pilfer we filch and sack, drink up me hearties, yo ho. Maraud and embezzle and even high-jack, drink up me hearties yo ho. Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a pirate's life for me.â
That was when Spot stopped, waited a second, then swore.
âAh, fuck. Thereâs more, but I canât remember the rest. Sorry to let ya down, but itâs probably for the best, anyway. I ainât the best singer.â
Race smiled, âI thought it was great.â
Spot looked away, gazing out across the water, but Race knew he was just trying to hide that he was blushing.
âSo, what kind of crazy person was your great-great grandmother if she could pass down a song like that?â
Spot shrugged, âItâs just a song, Racer.â
âSongs have meaninâ,â Race insisted, âAnd personally, I think itâs pretty interestinâ that you might be descended from a pirate.â
Spot snorted, âWell, Iâm pretty sure all the stories Ma used to tell me âbout her were just stories, but... well, she used to say that all our family are drawn to the sea, ïżœïżœïżœcause weâs got sailinâ in our blood. âCause our ancestor was the fiercest lady pirate who ever lived. And I guess I... I guess Iâs felt that, a little, but... well, I left all that behind a long time ago. I ainât talked to my mom since I ran away.â
Race put a hand on his shoulder, knowing how much Spot hated talking about his past. His mom and especially his dad were sore topics for him, and always had been. Hell, parents were a sore topic for Race, too. For a lot of the Newsies, really. Kids didnât wind up on the streets for no reason.
âWell, if it makes ya feel any better, my pops used to say he had piratinâ in his blood, too.â
Spot laughed, âReally, now?â
âItâs true! He used to tell me stories âbout my great-somethinâ grandpa! Said he was one of the luckiest pirates ever!â
âReally? Who?â
Race grinned, âDad used to say we was the last descendants of Captain Jack Sparrow.â
âYour dad used to say you were descended from Jack fuckinâ Sparrow? The pirate all sailors still remember âcause he was batshit insane?â
Race laughed at the skepticism in his voice, âYeah, I never really believed it. Makes for a good story to tell the littles, though.â
Spot smirked, âItâs funny. He was actually in some of my maâs stories, too. Apparently, my great-great grandma took her riches, moved on land, and lived out the rest of her days without piratinâ once times started changinâ. But the really interestinâ part was that her family offered to take Jack with âem cause he was a good friend of theirs, but he wouldnât leave the sea. So, eventually, he got killed, and my great-great grandparents spent the rest of their lives tellinâ how stupid he was for not changinâ with the times.â
âOoh. So I guess it runs in your family to be disappointed in mine.â
âWell, ya donât leave much to not be disappointed in.â
Race slapped his lover in the arm, âWhy do I love you again?â
âMaybe âcause I sing old pirate songs for ya.â
âHmm. That must be it.â
A lot of the other Brooklyn kids already seemed to be passed out drunk, so Race felt safe enough to lay his head on Spotâs shoulder, the other boy leaning into the touch.
âI donât sing that for just anybody, yâknow,â Spot said quietly.
âI know,â Race said truthfully, âAnd honestly? Iâve never heard that song, and I heard a lot of old sailinâ songs when my dad was still alive. Maybe your great-great grandmother really was a pirate.â
Spot snorted, âMaybe. Of course, the stories also said her husband was the captain of a ship crewed by damned souls, so...â
âYeah... well, even if parts of the story ainât true, that donât mean itâs all fake. What was your fierce pirate great-great grandmotherâs name? Do ya know?â
Spot sighed, laughing a little as he leaned his face just slightly towards Raceâs hair, âYouâs really buyinâ into this, ainât ya, love?â
âJust tryinâ to get the full story,â Race said with a cheeky grin.
Seeing that he wasnât going to just give this up, Spot sighed again, rolling his eyes.
âElizabeth Swan. Her name was Elizabeth Swan.â

âDid you just kiss me?â
((reposting this because I made a few alterations. Happy (little late) New Year!!!)
âSo, you think youâll go through with it tonight?â April asked you with a smirk and an eyebrow wiggle. The two of you were heading up the elevator of the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square. It was already past nightfall on New Years Eve and you were both lugging around big boxes of various fireworks to the roof, where you would later meet up with the turtles.
A warm, pink glow flashed across your cheeks as your eyes glanced to hers and then straight down to the floor. Letting out a little wry chuckle, you stammered, âI-I donât know. I mean, all you guys are gonna be there and--â She cut you off,
âGirl,â she let out a groan, âSo what? Itâs New Years!â She straightened her glasses with her cheek while shrugging her shoulders. Her hands were placed in their usual spot, within the pockets of her bright yellow-green sweatshirt. âWeâre literally gonna have the best seats in the city. Itâll be perfect!â
âWhat if he⊠rejects me?â You say in a joking way to help keep the mood light, but deep down that question has been burning inside you for so long.
April let out a hearty laugh, her shoulders twitching rhythmically, âDonât be crazy. He would never.â
âBut what ifââ you began.
âBut nothing, hon.â She cut you off, smiling, âTrust me. I know him. I know all of them. Weâve been friends since I was, what, eleven? You gonâ be just fine.â
April has known the boys for a much longer time than you have. Youâve only been friends with them for maybe a little over half a year? Maybe April did know what she was talking about⊠you hope.
The elevator finally came to a halt at the top floor and the both of you carried the boxes of fireworks out and down the hall to a fire escape exit. There, the two of you carefully climbed the rest of the way to the rooftop.
The crisp air hit you right away, blowing your hair out of your face and back behind you. And the lights. Wow. You never, ever seemed to get tired of this view. It was breathtaking, to say the least. An image could never entirely capture the beauty of that skyline. Billions of shimmering lights dazzled beneath you to miles ahead of you. But this, Times Square, thereâs just nothing like it. Millions of people were crowded together at the base of the hotel, all clamoring, laughing, and continuously waiting for the big ball to eventually drop, marking a new year.
âAyyeee, thereâs my favorite girls!â You heard that familiar voice behind you. Turning around, you recognized the blue-clad turtle with the shit-eating grin, followed by his three brothers who were leaping up from the side of the building. Of course, Leoâs presence made a slight pink glow across your cheeks. Out of the corner of your eye you see April giving a smirk in your direction as she eyed the two of you. Leo was oblivious to the expressions between the both of you as you shot her a warning glance. The turtleâs mask tails lightly flapped in the wind as he made his way over to the boxes of fireworks.
âHo-ho yeah! Letâs see what we got!â He rummaged through the boxes with Mikey when you heard Raph set down a large watercooler on the other side of you. He tossed you a soda in a koozie, which you gratefully accepted, and then one to April and another to Donnie. The purple-clad, who was tinkering on his bo staff to make sure the flame thrower worked, as well as the fire extinguisher, caught the soda without even glancing away from his weapon.
âHow you been, Shorty?â said Raph, shutting the cooler after getting himself a soda, then using the cooler as a seat.
You answered, completely used to that nickname he had coined for you, âGreat! Bit chilly, but what else is new, yâknow?â You shrugged your shoulders in your big wool and polyester coat. The weather was even harsher on the roof of this building. âStill job hunting, so thatâs a drag.â
âAh, well,â said the snapping turtle, raising his soda can in your direction, âTo a new year and a new job.â And everyone chimed in to repeat the phrase, wishing you good luck. An appreciative smile took a new expression upon your face as you raised your drink as well.
A short time passed and it was about seven minutes to midnight; you were mingling with Donnie and Raph about random topics. Mikey has been deejaying in the middle of the roof. You guys were sitting on the edge of the building, overlooking the crowd. You three were currently discussing where you would each like to travel and why. You could hear April howling with laughter from somewhere behind you, probably at some wise-crack Mikey or Leo made.
You kept a close eye on your phone to check the time. The closer it got to midnight, the more nerves scattered themselves inside your body. You were really trying hard to listen to Donnie explain how the pyramids of Egypt would be such a fascinating travel location because of all the myths saying that aliens created them or something, but your mind was just mostly focusing on a completely other topic. Leo.
While subconsciously nodding along to Donnieâs story, now off on some tangent about wheatfields, you were straining your ears just to hear Leoâs voice, or even his laugh, behind you. It was such an attracting sound. So sweet. Like honey attracts bees. And you, of course, were the bee. Gah, were you even going to have the balls to pull this off tonight? Every feeling inside of you was either rooting for it to happen or for you to back out and play it safe. Now normally, you werenât a risk taker, but this was gonna be different. When that ball dropped, you were gonna change that part of yourself. This is the time to try new things, after all. Ugh. Why does this have to be so difficult?
âYo, y/n!â Leoâs voice chimed, calling to you, âHey, come look at what weâve set up. D, bring your torch!â
You got up, followed by Donnie, and walked up to the other three who were gesturing to the fireworks they had laid out in such a specific pattern. Raph stayed behind to alert the rest of you when the time comes. Four minutes to midnight. The crowdâs cheering grew slightly louder as the time passed.
âAlrighty, so you got your standard Peony shells,â Mikey pointed at a few rather large firework casings, âSome Chrysanthemums, a few Willows, a Diadem, which Iâm more than pumped more, your Palms, Horse Tails, and Rings. And as for the smaller stuff, we got Roman Candles, Fountains, Firecrackers, Sparklers, Smoke Bombs, and some Ground Spinners. So, Iâll definitely be the first to say, you girls hit the jackpot!â
Directly after April first bumped you proudly, Leo nudged your shoulder in an approving way. You smiled up at him, praying that he couldnât see the blush on your face. He smiled back and you couldnât tell if he gave you a wink or not, the moment passed too quick. Okay, two minutes to midnight.
âAye, the ballâs about to drop.â Raph called to us, âCâmon, letâs go!â
You all made your way back over to the edge of the building, hanging your legs over the edge. You sat by Mikey, who plopped himself in between you and April, and Leo made his seat on the other side of you. Something in your heart did a tiny dance and you couldnât help but smile. Not just about the fact that Leo was sitting next to you, but about the whole scene. Times Square, the crowd of millions of people beneath your feet, you literally dangling your feet off the edge of the rooftop of a towering hotel, your closest friends in the world by your side. Honestly, what could top this?
There it went, the chrome ball that everyone had their eyes on, slowly falling every second. The swarm of people below you started chanting, âSEVEN⊠SIX⊠FIVE⊠FOURâŠâ
You and the gang joined in, âTHREE⊠TWO⊠ONE! HAPPY NEW YEAR!â
Loud cheers and screams echoed all around you. Mikey spun his flaming kusari-fundo around above his head in a celebratory twirl, making you laugh. You turned to your other side to finally do it. You were going to kiss Leo. This was it. Your body felt so light. A huge smile was across your face as you turned to face him. But before you could even act on anything, his hands were latched to your cheeks with his lips pressed against yours. Wait. He kissed you?! Immediately, Mikey said exactly what you were thinking,
âOmigosh!â
April laughed at Mikeyâs reaction as you flooded out all noise around you. So, this is what it was like⊠kissing him. Wow. You couldnât believe your senses. The only thing that made you pull away was a thundering BOOM that erupted above you. Once you realized it was only Donnie who had set off the first of the fireworks, you looked back to Leo who was smiling wildly at you.
You smiled back and then realization hit you a second time, âD-Did you just kiss me?â
His expression faltered a little bit. Was that disappointment in your voice? But he nodded back with a smaller smile. Your eyes lit up as another firework went off above the roof. Without warning, you practically threw yourself on him, kissing him again.
Behind you, Mikey turned to April, âDid you seeâ?â
April nodded in a smug fashion, âYeah, she planned for it.â
âPay up; he kissed her first,â said Raph, chuckling to April. He held his hand out, awaiting his prize for winning some bet he and April had set months ago. April rolled her eyes and slapped a ten dollar bill in his huge hand.
The rest of the night was spent with laughter and shimmering lights followed by booming sounds. Leo had his arm around you most of the time, when he wasnât trying to do some reckless tricks over the fountain fireworks, of course. Mikey was trying out some moves with his kusari-fundo by trying to light multiple fireworks at once. Donnie was ready with the fire extinguisher application wired into his staff. Raph and April were having a Roman Candle fight and laughing when Leo got hit with one of the blasts. When you checked to see if he was alright, trying to stifle the laughter that was bubbling inside you, he gave you a reassuring wink and kissed you on the forehead before lighting a Roman Candle himself to chase Raph with. Was it always this easy? Why did you believe things had to be so complicated? He liked you back. After months of overthinking things, he actually liked you back. What a wonderful start to the year.
