Blitz was still sitting alone in his living room, curled up on the couch. His apartment was dark and quiet--Loona wasn't around much these days--and he had been letting himself get lost in too many dark thoughts, empty thoughts. Texting a confession to Stolas had felt like idiocy. After Verosika's party, what the fuck would Stolas ever want from him again? But Blitz still wanted him. He always would, he knew. Apparently, he was fucking cursed with love, cursed to love, and he couldn't break free of it... Nor did he want to. So, although he knew the answer would be more silence or ridicule, he sent the text anyway, closed his eyes, and tried to dream of better scenarios, of ways that maybe it wouldn't go so badly.

And then his phone-screen lit up. The new notification sound was a clip of Stolas's performance--one of the most popular videos trending on VoxTube--and so that sweet, smooth voice came through the darkness, easing away so many shadows. Stolas's voice was a shadow all its own, but one Blitz could willingly lose himself in. He closed his eyes, listening until the clip of the song was over, then picked up the phone. Heart heavy, he opened the text, expecting to see... to see...

Fuck. Those words weren't what Blitz had expected at all. Golden eyes widening, he read over them again and again, struggling to believe it.

...my every waking thought my most blissful of nightmares... ...monstrous wings around you to keep.... together... my heart... you and you alone... come to me quickly... carve my devotion upon your soul... yours.

Blitz's heart felt like it was frozen. This, all of this, was like some fucked up dream come true, in the most painfully beautiful way. He knew this was dangerous, knew Stolas wasn't safe, wasn't some gentle, benign being. Stolas wasn't for beginners. He wasn't anywhere near as soft as his feathers or his voice might make him seem. He was a demon prince in every way--and he was all Blitz fucking wanted. If Stolas wanted to carve his devotion onto Blitz's soul--fuck. The imp didn't know what that meant, but he knew that it didn't really matter. He wanted it. He wanted him, and he was done pretending otherwise. Stolas mattered so damned much--too damned much.

Maybe it was time to bind himself to the demon. To offer himself to Stolas, for better or for worse. If it meant they could be together, if it meant he could still have him, still love him? Be near him?

Maybe it was time to finally yield to his demon prince.

Blitz didn't waste time. He didn't know what the fuck was going to happen. Maybe just hot sex, a nice night of banging and laughter and then them passing out curled up in each other's arms. Or, maybe Stolas was going to use his magic on him, bind them together forever, warp Blitz's very being... but did it really matter? There was still some sense of caution in Blitz that said yes, yes, it matters, be goddamn careful, what the fuck are you doing, but he was tired of fighting that voice. He was so fucking tired.

Dressed in his sluttiest best--a mesh shirt with chrome rings for his spines, leather trousers so tight they might have been painted onto him, black eyeshadow--he didn't bother sneaking in this time. Blitz knocked on Stolas's front door, and as soon as the door opened and one of the staff tried to sneer at him, to gesture at him to go around to a side door, Blitz stalked inside. No holding back, no playing it safe, not anymore.

"Where the fuck is my bird?"

A nervous servant led the imp up to Stolas's room. Tail lashing, Blitz glared until the servant left. Then, not hesitating at all, he kicked the door open like the uncultured, uncouth vermin he was, and stalked into the room.

"Stolas! You told me to come, so I'm here. I'm... I brought something for you. For us." Eyes brighter than ever, tail still lashing, Blitz walked up to him, then held out a tattered leather bag, something old. The unmistakable clink of chains could be heard inside, smooth metal sliding against itself. There was a collar in there, a collar and a chain, something Blitz remembered too well from his hallucination--a hallucination where he saw the truth. He loved this man. Stolas was on a damned pedestal, and even if Stolas owned him, even if Stolas collared and chained him, Stolas loved him. And being loved by Stolas? That. Was better than a lifetime of anything else--including self respect, safety, or common sense.

"I'm yours, Stolas. Whatever that means. Whatever you want. I'm yours to keep. Just--don't cast me aside again. Please. I'll give you, I am giving you, everything. My heart. My trust. Me."

I will say that it's been a couple of years (I think?) since I read swbts so the details are fuzzy but one of my fave parallels are between Ouyang and Baoxiang, especially for how strong they become in hwdtw too. They are both seen as lesser and not conforming to the "male" mongol ideal, ouyang because he's a eunuch, wbx because he's not a warrior. They both go against their roles in a very explicit and performative way: ouyang by becoming a war machine and truly embodying the masculinity of a mongol warrior despite his inability to truly ever being considered one bc of his mutilation, wbx by refusing to become a warrior and acting super feminine (genuinely don't remember how much of it is genuine and how much is out of sheer spite but id say at some point the lines got blurred for him too. the guy has Problems.) Something something "femininity" being forced on someone vs being choosen and its Consequences. They hate each other. they're scheming together. they're scheming against each other. they loved Esen. they had to kill him. being gay is a curse. being gay is a game and i am winning. they fucked each other in a parallel reality. and most importantly they're twinks. this does not even begin to cover how insane their dynamic truly is.

One of my biggest NeoScum headcanons (which feels so real to me that I sometimes forget it isn't canon) is that Tech Wizard is absolutely definitely trans. Idk how much you've heard about the robohog so far wherever you're at in the podcast but. We truly get no other explanation for why Tech Wizard would have a robotic dick. Also Tech's whole character arc is so tied to identity and his discomfort with himself and it just. It feels so canon ok.

(Tbh all of the NeoScum crew are t4t4t4t in my heart but especially so for Tech Wizard.)

I'm trying to think of other NeoScum headcanons off the top of my head... especially ones that don't have spoilers for late game NeoScum... Oh, idk if you've listened to the SunUp Patreon bonus episodes yet but in my heart Tom and Hanz are in love and living happily ever after somewhere for sure.

Also, less of a headcanon but something I just like to think about sometimes - it's so wild that Zenith was just a pro-gamer for a while. Like he has this insane [spoilers] backstory but then also. He just played video games for a living for a little while there. That's so fun. I love Zenith.

my favorite genre of music is.. whatever i like listening to. i just like music a lot!!

if youre wanting a more specific answer than that, then i really like classical, swing and big band, and mid-century modern lounge and jazz!! bossa nova also maybe. i also like listening film scores and the occasional opera.

we also somehow happen to be in the year 2024 at the moment so maybe youre wondering about some newer genres? well all of the above is still very true! but i also like electroswing, most kinds of rock, early 2000s rave and edm.. most kinds of edm or electronic actually, and this tends to cover a wide variety of genres but i also like listening to video game soundtracks.

So, here’s the thing.

It wasn’t so much that Kazuma was a strict, no excuses kind of instructor—which, yeah, sure, he definitely was, and no one at camp would ever argue that, but… The reason anyone ever felt any amount of disheartened under his keen eye usually had a little something to do with not wanting to disappoint the supremely cool, incredibly skilled and awesome katana guy who showed up whenever he wanted and disappeared like some crazy demigod vigilante. (Who also was considerably attractive, Percy supposed… if the reactions of some half-blood kids and even the dryads were anything to go by.)

Part of Percy knew Kazuma didn’t expect him to excel at this immediately. Then another part of him argued he should, that this technique should be well in hand by now (literally) if he hoped to have any chance against what was coming. Part of him figured he was annoyed at the prospect of letting Kazuma down���letting everyone down. Then another part of him shot back that there was more to this. It wasn’t just about—

He nearly jumped when Kazuma rejoined his side. In the prior few seconds, he’d fallen into somewhat of a trance, one that had him glaring off at the dining pavilion with thoughts of the winter before, of a particular young demigod responsible for the large crack across the floor. Because Percy had failed him (and still continued to).

A murmured “thanks,” and he took the water, downed a few gulps while Kazuma gave him his usual encouragement. He pinched his brows. “Yeah, I know. I mean… You’re right, I just—” He should’ve laughed. Maybe even said something like, What isn’t bothering me? But the energy wasn’t there today, and with some reluctance, Percy met the eyes boring into him. He weighed his options: what he should and shouldn’t talk about, what he could and couldn't trust Kazuma to know. Whatever ended up winning, a loud and practically surrendering sigh came first.

“We can… talk for a minute, if that’s okay. Can we—?” Percy capped Riptide, stowed the sword-turned-pen back in his pocket at the same time as he pivoted toward the nearest bench. He paused only to glance back. “Only if you don’t have someone else, uh… lined up to train anytime soon? I don’t want to interrupt…”

He took a moment to study the brilliant gold of Geralt's eyes that practically glowed beneath the desert sun. Definitely green, the artist nodded to himself. "It could even be like camouflage if you had contracts in the forest. Color isn't just for aesthetics—it can have practical applications, too!"

But Geralt eventually gave a serious response, to which Kaveh simply scoffed. The only reason the witcher would trek this far out into the desert was if there was a job to be done. Honestly he could hardly imagine what kind of monster was lurking in the sand that even the Guardian of Aaru Village couldn't handle.

"The last time I ventured into the desert I passed out from the heat," he admitted with a grimace. "I was out for hours; I didn't come to until it was nighttime and the air had cooled off. It's a miracle I didn't get sunburned to death!" Not that he regretted the actions that led to that consequence. Winning the Interdarshan Championship would've rung hollow if he hadn't gotten those desert foxes to safety first.

"I wouldn't call 'passing out' fun or a way to change things up." And yet, a silent moment passed where Kaveh squinted out at the distant dunes before heaving a dramatic sigh. "Fine, alright—but don't forget that you promised to help me collect some henna berries! I'm down to the last few drops of my favorite red paint, and I can't make more without them."

my thoughts: albert harebrayne was introduced as a goofy mad scientist with failed logic and a close friend of van zieks but he's more than that. he's a PROFESSOR. he studied in germany and had his work published in a pamphlet. he can work complex mathematical equations. he cares for his invention but not to the point of purposely hurting others for the sake of it. he may not be so talented, but he has the spirit and ambition for it. incredibly passionate in his work. regretful that he was tricked and involved in a murder. he trusts so easily and wholeheartedly that it's both a flaw and his strength. treats van zieks like a true friend even after 10 years of no contact.
