A delightful part of the Fort Meigs museum is this dress-up area for children, with child-sized replica clothing for different groups present in 1813, and an illustrative mural on the wall.
The soldier at far right is labeled Native American but looks more Shawnee specifically, and is from Tecumseh's Confederacy. The British redcoat is from the 41st Regiment of Foot, who were deployed to Canada in 1799 and saw action throughout the Niagara region and the old northwest. I like that the fatigue dress at far left shows the US forage cap, although I think the long, tasseled style was also in use.
19th US Infantry uniform looks correct... Ohio militia maybe not so much? All US War of 1812 state militia are always depicted in that stupid hideous frontiersy get-up, especially if they're from "western" states. I think it's supposed to imply that they did not have standard uniforms like a professional army. An extant Ohio militia uniform in the museum looks nothing like this, however!
This wool militia coatee was worn by Thomas Armstrong at Fort Meigs in 1812-1813. His militia company was raised in Lisbon, Ohio, near the Pennsylvania border. Typical of the problems with state militias in the War of 1812, most of Armstrong's company returned home before they even reached Fort Meigs, because their terms of enlistment had expired.
It was an emotional experience to be so close to an extant uniform! Armstrong does not appear to have been small in stature, from his coatee, and the waist is not small, although clever tailoring with the dolman-style buttons and piping makes it look more pinched-in. (Remind me to show you the absurdly wasp-waisted War of 1812 uniform from Kentucky). More civilian fashion influences can be seen in the long coattails.

Peerless Motor Company Plant No. 1 (Carling Brewing Company Building) site
9400 Quincy Ave.
Cleveland, OH
The Peerless Motor Company Plant No. 1, also known as the Carling Brewing Company Building was located at Quincy Avenue and 93, in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. The Peerless Motor Car Company was an American automobile manufacturer noted for its luxury automobiles that produced the Peerless brand of motorcars in Cleveland, Ohio, from 1900 to 1931. One of the "Three Ps" – Packard, Peerless, and Pierce-Arrow – the company was known for building high-quality luxury automobiles. Peerless popularized a number of vehicle innovations that later became standard equipment, including drum brakes and the first enclosed-body production cars.
Established in Cleveland in 1889 as the Peerless Wringer & Mfg. Co., located on the city's east side at 43 Lisbon Street at the junction of the Cleveland & Pittsburgh and the New York, Chicago & St. Louis railroads, by 1892 it had become the Peerless Mfg. Co. Originally a producer of washing-machine wringers, Peerless moved to 2654 Lisbon St. in 1895 and began making bicycles in the late 1890s. Peerless Motors began manufacturing automobiles in Cleveland in 1900 while using De Dion-Bouton engines under license from the French company. The company was manufacturing automobiles and parts in 1901 and was renamed the Peerless Motor Car Co. two years later. The company's factory, built in 1906 at 9400 Quincy Ave., was designed by Architect J. Milton Dyer.
A single V16-engined 1931 Peerless was finished in June 1931, the last Peerless ever produced. Although President James A. Bohannon tried to save the firm, Peerless was unable to survive the Depression, and the last Cleveland-based company to build automobiles in the city closed in 1931. Thus, Peerless went defunct in 1931 and remained an idle business until the end of Prohibition in 1933 allowed the manufacture of alcohol. After a careful study of the Depression-era market, Bohannon organized a brewing company in 1933 and operated it in the old Peerless factory. Peerless then became Peerless Corp. Brewers, revamped its factory, and gained a license to brew beer under the Carling Black Label and Red Cap ale brands from the Brewing Corporation of Canada. The building on Quincy Ave. was listed with the National Register of Historic Places on May 29, 1975, but was subsequently demolished.

After reading this I had to know more definitely which US state has the most “capital” cities. I checked and if we’re only counting exact matches including accent marks then Ohio is the winner. If accent marks don’t matter Illinois and Ohio are tied. If we count partial matches like “New Paris” Ohio wins by a lot. Full results below.
