Future
Lisanna Week Day 7: Future ~ Last Day!
Summary: While being pulled into Edolas, Lisanna see's a vision of the future
Read on Ao3
It happened suddenly.
One minute she was falling down and the next she was engulfed in a bright blinding light and her body was hurdling through the sky.
She finds herself struggling to breathe as the air is stolen from her chest. For a brief moment, she wonders if perhaps she if this is what death is like. Maybe this was fate being kind enough to pull her away from her siblings, so they won’t have to watch her take her last breath.
Then she hears it.
It started off low, a small rumbling in the background, then it grew louder and louder until Lisanna felt it surrounding her.
Laughter.
High-pitched squeals and laughs overtopping each other echoed throughout the night sky. Despite being able to hear it all around her, she still was not able anything besides the bright lights’ flashing before her eyes.
It felt like she was falling for hours listening to happy squeals unsure of what was happening and if she was really dying.
Then the lights parted, and a new scene came into her vision.
It was a group of children playing in what looked to be the backyard of a house. The children were playing some type of game with wooden swords and toy capes draped around their backs. Unconsciously, her eyes were drawn to two of them in particular. A boy and a girl who fought side by side against the other kids. The children did not look exactly like each other, in fact they had more differences in their looks than similarities, but there was something in the way their eyes keep glancing over to the other and defended each other from wayward attackers that had her mind whispering siblings.
And the giggle she kept hearing, the one that stood out on top of all the other noise, came from the girl. The one with light blonde hair that almost looked translucent in the sun and black eyes. The boy had long white hair braided neatly into a ponytail and dark brown eyes that eagerly looked for openings in their targets. It was clear the two of them were a force to be reckoned with slashing their way to victory over their peers.
Lisanna couldn’t take her eyes off them.
Eventually, the sound of a door opening caught her ears. She watched as a voice called out to the children making them pause mid-strike. They both ran and embraced the woman slowly making their way to them.
And that’s when she see’s her. The lights shine bright once again as Lisanna realizes she’s looking into a future version of herself. One that doesn’t hesitant to reach down and hug each of the children back. That kisses their foreheads and makes way for the two people standing next to her. Natsu, she recognizes immediately although he looks much different than the boy she was leaving behind. The other woman, the one with an arm around Lisanna’s waist and sharing a sweet smile with Natsu, she had never seen before. Yet somehow…just like the two kids with sweet laughs and wild spirits they were embracing…she felt connected to in a deep mysterious way. Felt protective over these children, and this beautiful woman, and her first love Natsu, and this scene they were in. See wanted them more than anything.
And just like that, it was gone. Her body was dumped onto the ground in a strange world with no idea where she was or how to get back to her home.
What she did know, however, was that she had a future to fight for. And that future looks bright.

The Bake Shop
Late entry for Lisanna Week Day 2: Baking
Summary: It’s when they pass a small shop on the corner that Lisanna’s attention is stolen away by a mouth-watering scent. She stops in front of the bakeshop entranced by its cute decorations and amazing scent. “Ohh it smells delicious!”
Note: This is set in the same universe as my Day 3 story Family but can be read as a stand alone.
Read on Ao3
“How about this one?”
Lisanna looks over at the cream onesie Evergreen was holding up and wrinkles her nose, “Is it a good idea to get a such a light color? What if something gets spilled and it gets dirty?”
“It will. Kids are messy no matter the age.” Evergreen places the shirt down to readjust her glasses. She looks over at Lisanna and shakes her head at the other woman’s obvious struggle of balancing their multiple bags in her arms away from her bulging stomach. Evergreen reaches over and takes a few of the bags ignoring Lisanna’s grateful look. She double checks the time noting that they’ve been shopping for hours. “We’ve got a lot already anyway. Let’s go get something to eat.”
Saying goodbye to the merchant, the two walk down the street towards the restaurant quarter of Magnolia idly chatting about their day to day. It’s when they pass a small shop on the corner that Lisanna’s attention is stolen away by a mouth-watering scent. She stops in front of the bakeshop entranced by its cute decorations and amazing scent. “Ohh it smells delicious!”
Evergreen tentatively sniffs the air, her eyebrows scrunching up with confusion. “I don’t smell anything.”
“Ever since I when through the mating process with Natsu my sense of smell has been really enhanced with some over cool perks too.”
“So are we going in? You look like your about to start drooling.”
Lisanna perks up at the thought of tasting what she was sure to be some delicious sweets inside, but a nagging thought at the back of her mind causes her to pause. Mentally she begins going over the number of jewels she and Evergreen had spent and winces at the final amount. “I can’t. I spent most of my jewels on clothes and I can’t go on jobs right now. Natsu has been taking short ones so that he doesn’t have to go too far away. Which is nice but unfortunately they don’t pay as well.”
She sighs turning reluctantly away from the shop and continuing their quest for (hopefully cheap) food.
What she missed was the way Evergreen thoughtfully eyed the shop memorizing its location before turning to follow
~
“Are you sure we gotta get up?” Natsu mumbled into her hair.
She giggled still trying to fight her way out of his cage-like arms while she answered, “Yes Natsu! We talked about this already.”
“But-”
“Natsu!”
They playfully struggle for a few more minutes taking turns pinning the other to the bed always mindful of Lisanna’s large belly. She finally claimed victory over a smirking Natsu and leaned down to connect their lips when a sound of knocking on their front door interrupted the motion. Their activities were placed on a pause as Natsu trudged downstairs. Lisanna could hear him speaking with someone before quickly coming back to their room taking the stairs two at a time. When he re-entered their bedroom, he was holding a fancy looking delivery bag and a look of confusion on his face.
“I asked him if he had the wrong address, but he says it’s addressed to you. Did you order some cookies, pastries, and muffins?”
Lisanna might have shared his confusion if that wonderful scent hadn’t hit her nose. She recognized it immediately taking the bag from Natsu to check the shop’s name. Sure enough, it was the one she discovered when she was with Evergreen. Its with a wide glowing smile that she tells Natsu that she owes a big thank you to her sister-in-law.
It was just as delicious as she imagined.

Lisanna Week Day 6: Edolas (let’s pretend its not after midnight and this is on time)
Summary: Lisanna has taken over the life of her Edolas counter-part to spare her siblings the the devastating reality of Edolas Lisanna's death. But that means dealing with the heartbreak of the woman Edolas Lisanna left behind.
This was inspired by some headcanons I did for @whiskeyscreativitycenter a couple months back. Angsty Edolas Luli is one of my favorite headcanons!
Read on Ao3
The days had fallen into a simple routine.
Wake up with Elfman and Mirajane
Laugh and play along with their guildmates
Ignore the knowing eyes subtly tracing her along the guild hall
Remember that magic is different here than Earthland
Leave with Mira and Elfman
Hug and kiss Mira and Elfman goodnight and pretend not to question the two holding on longer than what would be considered normal
The last part depended on the mood she was.
Some days she was able to fall asleep no problem
Others she would spend hours staring up at the ceiling wondering how everyone in the Earthland was doing and how they compared to the her guildmates here
She tried to avoid thoughts of her real siblings, it hurt too much. Instead she thinks of the others
Did sassy Cana really grow to become so soft-spoken?
Was always-Gray-complaining-about-the-heat Gray really bundled up under so many layers at the moment?
Was Natsu, her wild and untamable best friend, really like the man she had gotten to know here?
Was Earthland Lucy at Fairy Tail too or-
She never allows herself to finish that thought either.
Instead she sits in a field under the star-filled Edolas sky and waits for the person she knew to be coming. It never takes long for the girl to take a seat a few feet beside her.
She never sits any closer or looks at her when they’re like this. Lisanna suspects it’s for the same reason she has trouble looking Elfman and Mira in the eyes sometimes. It hurts too much.
“Did I tell you she used to come here too?” A soft voice breaks through the night. The tone was much different from her daytime one. Ever since Lisanna first came to this new world, she knew she gets to see a side of the fierce woman that no one else did.
“All the time.” Lisanna whispered back.
“You know…every time I climb this hill and see you from behind my heart starts racing. Every time I get here and think maybe this is it…you’ve come back to me and I’ve just been in a fucked up nightmare these past years thinking you were dead-”, her voice breaks but she continues on pushing back the sorrow now clear in her voice, “and then…then I remember you’re not her.”
Lisanna digs her nails into her hand suppressing every need to go comfort the hurt woman beside her. She knows from past attempts that she will be rejected. That soft words and gentle touches would just hurt the other woman even more.
Comfort is not the reason she comes meet Lisanna on these nights. It took over a year Lisanna to really understand it, but the other woman does this as a way to heal.
Closure.
And Lisanna is willing to give this beautiful woman whatever she needs in order to fix the damage that was not caused by her, but she still feels responsible for nevertheless.
So Lisanna keeps her hands to herself. She rests her head on her knees and says, “you still haven’t told me about her.”
“I told you I’m not going too.”
“At least tell me how you met?” A bit of desperation comes through in her voice. It was the one question she really wanted answered.
“It doesn’t matter. It wouldn’t be the same in your world and you know it.”
Lisanna couldn’t hold in her frustrated groan. Yes, she knew that statement was probably true, but she still had some many questions about just how different things were in Edolas than Earthland.
After all, there was no Lucy in Fairy Tail when Lisanna was there.
“Besides it’s my turn to ask the questions today…were we friends? In your world I mean?”
“I didn’t know you,” Lisanna answered truthfully, “not yet.”
“I figured. Are you in love with someone else then? Have you ever kissed anyone before?”
“No and no. Why?”
Instead of an answer, two warm hands reached out and pulled Lisanna face out of her knees. Before she could question further, a set of lips were pressed against hers.
The kiss ended almost as soon as it started.
Lisanna drew back to see the look of heartbreak wash over Lucy Ashley’s face. Unable to stop herself, she wrapped her arms around the shaking girl and pulls her into a warm embrace. Let’s her let out her tears and wails over Lisanna not being the girl she knew. The one she gave her heart too.
“I’m sorry.” She whispers into her ear.
“Don’t be.” Comes the broken but firm response. “This isn’t your fault. But-” Lucy lifts her tear-stricken face to look Lisanna in the eyes. She takes a hold of Lisanna’s shoulder and grips it tight. She looks so desperate and wild and beautiful that Lisanna might have missed her words if she didn’t dig those sharp nails into her skin. “But don’t you dare leave her the way she left me. When you find her, you hold onto to her with everything you have. Don’t make her mourn you too.”
Lisanna isn’t given a chance to respond before that head is once again buried into her chest. As if Lucy was taking this time to truly say goodbye. A privileged that was robbed from her the day this world stole her love.
So, when Lisanna’s body gets called back to Earthland and she learns the shocking revelation that her siblings knew the entire time that she was not their Lisanna, it’s Lucy Ashley she sees. The smile she wears is one Lisanna never got the privilege of seeing before. It was soft, so soft and warm, and before the sight of it disappears for good, she manages to make out the last words mouthed to her:
‘Go get her’

Lisanna Week Day 5: Flowers
Note: Lisanna is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns
Summary: There was something about the feeling of Lucy’s fingers parting through their hair that was very very distracting
Read on ao3
“You have to keep your head still.” The blonde gently scolds again.
“Sorry.”
The urge to finch returns as those soft hands tangle into their hair once more. Their not sure why, but Lucy’s hands were proving to be very very distracting today. Lisanna digs their hands into the grass trying their best not to squirm when those hands graze the back of their neck for the countless time again.
The two were sitting on a patch of grass off to the side of the wide-open field their friends were playing on. The sounds of laughter and taunts as their friends run up and down the field fell into background noise the second Lucy moved closer and began toying with Lisanna’s loose strands. Before they knew it, the two of them were kneeling in the field as Lucy began braiding their hair.
And that’s when the problems started.
Many people have played in Lisanna’s hair before. From Elf and Mira to a curious Natsu and Gray. Not once had it ever made them felt like this. Every time Lucy hummed in approval; their heart began beating faster. Every sigh of hot air blown against their ears turned their cheeks red. Every laugh or shout at what was happening on the field had them unconsciously leaning towards the sound hoping to hear more.
This has never happened to them before. This confusing mix of uneasiness and elevation all caused by one person. They remember their sister going on and on about couples in her romance novels and wonders if these feeling were shared between her characters too. This intoxicating mix that makes them want to shy away but keeps them desperate to stay close.
Lucy announces being finished with a loud satisfied hum. Before Lisanna could ask, she hands them her mirror and looks on with thinly veiled excitement as Lisanna examines the braids. As Lucy looks on, Lisanna wonders over how distracted they were to not notice the pretty girl weaving flowers into 3 of the braids. They were a beautiful blue the same shade as Lisanna’s eyes and they can’t tell if that was purely coincidental or not.
“Do you like it?” Lucy whispers moving closer and into Lisanna’s space again. Come to think of it, she’s been doing that a lot today and managed to short circuit Lisanna’s brain each time.
“Um yes…it’s perfect.” They stuttered out cheeks red once more. It’s worth it however to see the wide grin spread across Lucy’s face.
The blonde grabs their hands and moves to where they are trading places with Lucy sitting in front of Lisanna this time. Still with a wide grin on her face, she places Lisanna’s hands into her hair and calls, “it’s my turn now~”

Missing
Lisanna Week Day 4: Missing
Summary: It's when Natsu tries his hardest to sleep at night that void in his room becomes clearer
Read on Ao3
He couldn’t sleep.
He had a long day of and an even longer week. Days had been spent training at the guild, bickering with Gray, ducking Erza, and playing with Happy. It was nothing unusual compared to his everyday routine. But it had weighed on him more and more as the days dragged by and all he had was happy to keep himself company. He still had Happy now, curled up in a ball at the far end of the bed. The cat’s soft snores and the rise and fall of his chest was usually enough to put Natsu to sleep. He was exhausted from been up for 7 days straight. Now would be the perfect time to fall asleep. But just like every other day this week, he couldn’t. The bed was wrong. Too spacious and wide. He could kick his feet out without bumping into anything, could fail and toss around the bed with undisturbed. There were no cold feet pressed up against his legs or louder snoring overlapping Happy’s. No hands shaking him awake at the middle of the night because she still believes Cana’s story about dream-snatching elves. He doesn’t sleep because he knows that if he wakes, he wakes alone. No blue eyes that lit up whenever they see his, no teasing over his bed hair, no tummy scratches for Happy or hands intertwining with his.
No Lisanna.
How could he sleep when such a core part of him was missing?
Natsu rises out of bed checking on Happy one more time before jumping out of his window to patrol the Magnolia streets.
No sleep would come to him this night either.

Family
Lisanna Week Day 3: Family
Summary: It had been a over a month since they last got together like this.
Read on ao3
It had been over a month since they last got together like this. It may not seem like a lot to most people, but for their family who had faced suddenly and unexpected separation and lose, that was a long time to be apart.
Lisanna digs her toes into the familiar rose-colored carpet of her sister’s home. She sighs happily as her swollen aching feet find relief in the cold air of the room. She tried to hide it as much as she could on the walk over knowing how worried her husband became at the slightest sign of Lisanna’s discomfort. And while she loved him more than anything, Natsu’s creative attempts at combating everyday pregnancy symptoms were generally more amusing than effective.
Lisanna lays a hand against her bump lovingly caressing the thicken skin. Yes, it had been a long time since their entire family gathered together, but it was more important now than ever to be close to her siblings again.
She sits on the cream-colored couch taking up half the living room and has a total of 10 seconds of quiet to herself before the sound of heels clicking on stairs reaches her ears. She turns to see Evergreen carrying a slumbering toddler down the stairs. They exchange smiles and Lisanna rises quickly to wrap the woman into a hug mindful of the small body in her arms.
“Gosh you’re big,” is the first thing Evergreen says to her. If it was anyone else Lisanna might have been offended, but this was Evergreen. She had gotten very used to her guildmate and sister-in-law’s blunt personality.
Instead, she laughs. “Well that’s what happens when you get pregnant!” Evergreen playfully rolls her eyes and places the toddler gently onto the sofa Lisanna had been resting on. She reaches her hand out and pauses waiting for Lisanna’s head-nod to touch her stomach. She moves her hands around just as gentle and loving as Lisanna’s own with a look of wonder in her eyes.
“I know, but you’ve always been small. Even with your chowing down food with that husband of yours.” Her eyes do not lift from Lisanna’s stomach when she asks, “where is he anyway?”
“Arguing with Happy over who can bring the most bags up.”
“Of course, he is.” She pats Lisanna’s stomach once more than before turning towards the door. “I’ll go help them before they wake the neighbors. Elf is in the kitchen with your sister and Titania.”
Evergreen had started calling Erza Titania sometime after the battle of fairy tail. Lisanna had thankfully missed all the fighting between her friends but she knows that it was hard on everyone involved. Still the outcome forged a tentative respect between the two women that grew into genuine friendship after realizing they were involve with the two remaining Strauss siblings. Lisanna herself can’t thank either woman enough for being there for her siblings during the bleak period before her return. “Thanks.” She says softly moving to drop a kiss on her sleeping niece’s forehead then walking into the kitchen.
She takes two steps into the brightly lit room before she is swept off her feet.
A kiss on her forehead from Mirajane
A squeeze around her waist as she’s twirled in the air from Elfman
Their overlapping smiles and laughter as greet each other over and over much to the amusement of Erza.
She’s in the arms of her older siblings as the time and distance between them meant nothing to their unbreakable bond. She’s home.
Later, she’s back on her feet again talking to Erza when two arms embrace her from behind. He had been drifting throughout the room catching up with everyone but never leaving her eyesight. His instinct’s never let him move too far from her whenever they were outside of their little home. He was noticeably more relaxed here in the presence of their family and at the guild, but that wasn't saying much. It no longer surprises her to suddenly have a dragon-slayer pressed against her back. She just leans back into him.
“What are you talking about?” Natsu asks resting his chin on his wife’s shoulder.
“You,” Erza teases before Lisanna could answer. The red-haired mage could never pass up an opportunity to mess with the dragon-slayer and vice-versa. “And how much of a slob you and Mira both are-ouch!” She jumps away from her wife’s pinching fingers and scowls at the smirk Mirajane sends her, “That’s what you get for talking shit.”
Natsu chuckles blowing hot air into her ear and Lisanna shivers. She leans more back into the arms encircling her waist and the broad chest against her back. She tries telling herself that her sister’s place is not the appropriate place to trail her fingers up those arms and down his shirt. But then again, Elfman and Evergreen seemed to have mysteriously vanished over 10 minutes ago and have yet to resurfaced. Happy was in the living playing chase with their little Princess. Natsu’s voice snaps her out of her thoughts, “Hey Mira, did I ever tell you how Gray and I found out Erza’s ticklish.” The temperature in the room took a dangerous downturn. Erza sent Natsu a glare that could scare the toughest demons as Mirajane’s face light up like she just struck gold.
“You’re ticklish!?”
“Natus you better run!”
And run he did, only this time he took his wife with him.
They ended up in the backyard giggling over the sound of Mirajane jumping on Erza stopping the redhead’s murder strut towards Natsu and demanding to know where was ticklish at and how she managed to hide it for so long.
Lisanna looks over at her laughing lover and feels the warmth that was bubbling inside her all-day spill over. She wraps her arms around him and pecks his cheek. “You know she’s going to get you later right?”
He returns her kiss to her forehead. “Nah, Mira will be on her all night. Love will slow her down.”
“And what about you? Will love slow you down? I can be clingy too you know.”
He gives her that soft special smile he always reserved for her ever since they were kids. “You get me all fired up inside. That can only make me stronger.”
Their lips meet slowly but passionately to the soundtrack of wind blowing through leaves and birds chirping in the distance. They part but remain tangled in each other’s embrace. He looks her over with sincere seriousness. “Are you okay?” He asks again just as he has at least once an hour since they found out she was pregnant?”
“Yes Natsu” She answers as she always does.
“And what about-”
“He’s fine too,” she places his hands onto her stomach right over the spot where their little dragon-slayer was kicking. Natsu melts at the motion, just as he always does. “You’re doing a great job Natsu. It’s okay, you can relax here with our family. I promise we’ll be alright.” He lets out a shaky breath and wraps her into his arms.
They all had the same fears. The fear of not being food enough parents, of not being a good enough spouse. Of losing someone they loved again. But they had hope too. Hope in this ever-expanding family that no matter what happens, they will face it together.

Animals
Written for Lisanna week hosted on @welovelisanna
Day 1 Prompt: Animals with some Strauss family bonding
Summary: Lisanna's first full shift was triggered by a wayward kitten during a walk back from the market with Elfman.
Note: this isn’t my best writing but I just wanted to do something for today. I play loose with magic and shapeshifting in this.
Read on Ao3
For Lisanna, it was a kitty. A temperamental kitten she and Elfman stumbled into accidentally. Mirajane had been preparing lunch when she was pounced on by a small figured with sharp claws, whiskers, pointy ears, and a short tail. It wasn’t until she looked into the creature’s eyes that she realized the blues staring back at her were her younger sister’s. She stood dumbfounded holding a small whimpering Lisanna until Elfman came running into the room behind her. In his arms was another small white fluffy creature, only she was sure this one was a real animal. Mirajane looked between the kitten in Elfman arms weakly and unsuccessfully scratching for release to the small bundle nuzzling into hers.
“Elf-what…” Kitten-Lisanna looks up at up Mirajane through split pupils. She gives a weak meow~ and butts her head against her sister’s chin. “When did this happen?”
“Um about 15 minutes ago?” He looks up at Mirajane with a sheepish smile on his face. “We were coming back from the market when we stumbled upon this little guy. Lis got really close to him and it must have scared him, so he tried to claw at her. Next thing I know Lis has a tail and jumped into a tree. I carried them both back here.” His sheepish smile turned into a wide excited grin, “You know what this means big sis!”
“Of course,” Mirajane laughed freely spinning around with her little sister still in her arms. “It’s Lissy’s first full shift!”
The siblings shared their excited with Lisanna’s happy purring flowing through the air. Mirajane and Elfman had been trying to teach the little girl all the could regarding their family’s special magical ability. Not only are they able to use regular takeover magic, but they are able to completely shift into different animals. Lisanna had taken to magic pretty quickly, but she was never able to do a full shift no matter how hard they tried. Until now that is.
“I’m so proud of you Lis,” she whispers into the fuzzy white fur receiving a tiny lick in response. “Now-” she gently places the girl onto the floor and claps her hands together, “Change back!”
She receives a head tilt and another meow in response.
“Um…about that…” Elfman trails off looking everywhere but his slowly panicking older sister. He had tried to convince Lisanna to switch back before entering their village knowing how the townspeople still feared their family. All Lisanna had done was tilt her head in the same confused motion and lick his cheek. Luckily, she was small enough that he could carry both her and the real kitten back to their home undiscovered. He was positive that his little sister didn’t know how to change back and hope their big sister would know what to do. Ever since their parents died, he and Lisanna relied on Mirajane more than ever. But judging by the way their sister began to place the creaky floors of their home muttering curses under her breathe, it seemed she was out of answers too. A sense of dread came over Elfman as the thought of Lisanna being stuck like this forever jumped into his brain. He swallows audibly and tries to push it down. H couldn’t let fear overtake him, not when his sisters needed him right now. He walks over to place a gentle on Mira’s shoulder. “It’s okay sis, we’ll figure something out. We’ve always been able to help Lis when she needed it.”
Mirajane allowed her brother’s word to wash over her. She placed her hand over his and squeezed, “you’re right. Come on, we’ll fix Lissy in no time!”
Of course, it hadn’t been that simple. The two older siblings spent the rest of the day trying new ways to snap Lisanna out of her shift with no avail. Mirajane and Elfman had been lucky enough to have their older and more experience parents to walk them through their first few shifts, but with their parents gone and no friendly ally in their village, the kids were clueless on what to do. They decided to break for the night exhausted with Elfman once again carrying a now slumbering Lisanna. The white kitten who caused this entire mess was already sleep at the end of their bed. The three siblings climbed into bed sleeping in a pile like they also do to keep warm determined to try again in the morning.
Only when Mirajane and Elfman opened their eyes the next morning, it was to a wide toothy grin on the familiar and very human face of Lisanna Strauss. She held the kitten now resting calming in her arms and squeals, “Can we keep him~”
