The Therianthropic statuette (Löwenmensch)
from the Hohlenstein-Stadel cave, Ca. 30,000-26,000 BCE.
31 centimetres tall.
Ccarved from mammoth ivory it stands as the oldest known example of figurative art.
Discovered in a cave in Germany, this enigmatic sculpture merges human and animal features in a way that challenges understanding—both hauntingly familiar and strikingly otherworldly.
It offers a profound glimpse into the creative genius of early humans, hinting at their capacity for imagination and symbolic thought.
Remarkably, the Lion-man predates the advent of known written language by more than 30,000 years. To put that in perspective, it is older than Stonehenge by tens of thousands of years.
This ancient artifact showcases an extraordinary leap in artistic expression, marking one of the earliest examples of humans conveying complex ideas long before written records existed.

FUUN LION-MARU (1973)
Also known as Lion-Man, this was P Productions follow-up series to the previous year's Kaiketsu Lion-Maru.
However, despite having a lead character with the same name (Shishimaru) played by the same actor (Tetsuya Ushio) who also transformed into a lion warrior, the two series were NOT connected. To make things even more confusing, another character from the first series (Tiger Joe, also played by his original actor, Yoshitaka Fukushima), appeared regularly in the second series.
Kaiketsu Lion-Maru at least had a proper origin story: orphan ninja Shishimaru was raised and tutored by a ninja wizard. Upon his death, the wizard gifted Shishimaru a magic sword that transformed him into the super-powered Lion-Maru.
Fuun Lion-Maru, on the other hand, had Shishimaru witness the death of his brother at the hands of an evil gang. Shishimaru confronted the gang and suddenly - despite the series being set in the late 1500s - used a rocket pack to fly into the sky where he inexplicably transformed into the new Lion-Maru.
Admittedly, I have only seen the first episode of Fuun Lion-Maru, so I don't know if a true explanation of Shishimaru's superpowers (and where he got the rocket pack) was revealed later on.

when I look at western media depictions of Chinese things I always look for gay lions
so lion statues have a male and female lion pair, male lions have a ball to play with and lionesses have a little baby to take care of (lion patriarchy)
Lot of westerners don't know this so they accidentally draw Gay Lions

look at them. love wins

If Fiyero's cover getting blown doesn't happen exactly like this I will riot.
Sidenote: My headcanon is that Lion has no idea who "Fiyero" is but he couldn't resist jumping in when he saw Tin Man antagonizing Scarecrow.

Probably the thing I'm looking forward to the most in For Good is the expansion of Dorothy's plotline. Not just because of how it'll help flesh out the story, but also because the musical!Wicked version of the gang is objectively the funniest version in any piece of Oz media ever.
We've got:
Scarecrow - The Wicked Witch of the West's boyfriend who she accidentally zapped into straw while trying to save him from getting executed for treason. Also he's a literal prince, Glinda's ex-fiancee, and the only person here who has anything close to the full story of what's going on.
Tin Man - Elphie's old friend from college who's spent the past few years enslaved to her sister (his ex) and who now hates her because he thinks that she turned him into a human soup can just to be an asshole rather than to save his life. Probably fighting off the beginnings of an existential crisis.
Cowardly Lion - Elphaba saved him from a life of non-sapiency when he was a cub, which he blames for his cowardice. Considering how he was a small child that got abandoned in the wilderness, he kinda has a point.
Dorothy - Literally only here because her house was used as a murder weapon. She just wants to go home, but all of the adults around her keep dragging her into their bullshit. Also, she has a pet dog - a completely foreign concept in Oz that everyone except the Wizard and Morrible most likely finds disturbing as hell.

Hey ever notice how . . . deliberate the melting scene is in the 1939 movie?
I mean, think about it. Who was the one leading the charge the entire time? The Scarecrow. Who seemed to know exactly where to go? The Scarecrow. And who led them into a corner where there just happened to be a convenient bucket of water, the one thing that supposedly can kill the Wicked Witch?
The Scarecrow.
And who oh-so-conveniently put out their arm for Elphaba to light on fire and then position himself just right so that when Dorothy put out the fire, she would also splash the Witch?
The Scarecrow.
You cannot convince me this whole thing wasn't planned from start to finish. It makes too much sense! Albeit I'm sure Fiyero had severe reservations about this whole damn thing.
But hey, it worked pretty perfectly.
The things one does for love~
