Six Makeup: Masterpost and Links

Hey y'all! Finally finished up a long promised post: all of my makeup suggestions for SIX cosplayers (and/or fans who just want to do some cool makeup looks)!!! I've been actively working on this post for about a year now and compiling makeup for even longer, so I'm happy to finally finish it. I'll get into more details in a moment, but first things first:

I'll include all the links below, but for easy access I made a handy-dandy Pinterest board. It is sorted by costume (sections for each queen + alt costume) and you can clink on any pin to be taken directly to buy it. I would recommend that people look there for a more visual/easy look at the recommendations; I realize pure text can get a bit old!

Some notes: - All of these links are to US sites, with a variety of US and UK sources. Most of these brands ship internationally and/or are available on Amazon as well. - I tried to factor in a large variety of material colors/shades, skin tones, and financial budget. You'll find a mix of US and UK-based brands, mainstream and smaller brands, drugstore versus more upscale, and some brands owned by women of color. - There's a broad range in the companies listed in terms of their ethics, animal testing, politics, etc. I'm including as many companies as possible to give people as many options as possible, but some of these I wouldn't personally financially support. I would strongly suggest that anyone do their own research into the brands listed. - Many of these products may be harsher on skin than your typical products. I'd suggest considering any potential allergens and skin testing any product before use, and using your regular base (foundation, blush, etc) to minimize the number of new products. (If you have sensitive skin or are worried about toxicity, I'd suggest Skin Deep for toxicity information and the FDA site for information on common irritants) - The vast majority of the makeup on this list is products that I know Six actors use. However, just because someone in Six uses it does not mean it's necessary to achieve a great look - there are many great alternatives for just about any product, and what works for a specific actor may not be what works best for you. (I'd also note that the vast majority of queens use some fairly cheap makeup, so you never need to feel like you have to pay more to get "stage accuracy") - Factor in where you're intending to use your products. Six uses some extreme stage makeup and truly crazy lighting; if you use these products with the exact same intensity in just about any other context, it will be way overkill. Convention lighting tends to be harsh so you can usually go a bit heavier there, particularly if you're intending to do any on-stage performances. But for everyday use or a closet cosplay to go see Six or an outdoor meet-up with natural light you will usually want to go much softer. (Photoshoots are a whole other can of worms and really depend on specifics) - Some of this information is taken from a series of Instagram stories Erin Ramirez did. I'm still writing up a post of everything she suggested, but I'll link it here when finished. - And, finally, have fun experimenting and finding what works for you!

Convention Guide: Basic Tabling Gear

Whether you’re an artist alley newbie or you’ve been doing the convention circuit for years, putting together your table essentials is a crucial part of selling your wares at events and ensuring your weekend goes smoothly. In this guide, we’re covering the basics of setting up your first ever table.

This list is a non comprehensive assessment of things a tabler might need and should be used as a simple starting point. The four main categories we will cover are:

1. The Display

a) Tablecloth

Starting from the base layer, we’ve got tablecloths– an easy way to add some color and personality to your table. Your tablecloth doesn’t even have to be an actual tablecloth! You can use a length of fabric cut from a bolt at your local craft store. Convention tables tend to be 6’ long, so when selecting your fabric, look for measurements longer than 72” (183cm).

Play with color and texture to find something that fits the theme of your work on display. Patterns can be fun, but might distract from your inventory or signage if the colors/design are too bold and busy. Tip: your cloth may get messy from food behind the scenes or dust/dirt if you do outdoor events. Get something that’s easy to wash in your machine!

b) Display supports

Most artists these days use cube organizers that break apart into flat panels and connector joints. They are easy to store when not in use, easy to transport in a suitcase or tote, and you can change the shape depending on your table set up and inventory. Tip: constructing your display to include shelves that face you behind the table helps organize your backstock during the show.

These cubes aren’t your only option. Some people use milk crates, picture frames, wooden boxes, custom built shelves, etc. Consider what works best for you, your aesthetic, and your storage/transportation needs. When in doubt, you can always lay your goods flat on the table.

c) Signage

Having clear signage on your items to denote price helps people feel more comfortable purchasing from your table. Your price markers don’t have to be fancy. Prices written neatly on pieces of paper and paperclipped to your books or taped up next to your stickers is a simple and effective strategy. Some people print out a price list or use a sign board. It’s totally up to you!

Include a sign with your name somewhere in your display, including your social media handle if it is different from your artist name. This will help fans of your work more easily recognize you. Tip: use a QR code prominently displayed on your table that links to your portfolio, linktree, etc.

d) Banner/backdrop

Look out behind you! Whether it’s a banner, a backdrop, or something else, the space behind your seat can be put to use. While it is relatively easy to print custom banners at most print shops, many tablers cite this as an unnecessary expense, especially for first time artist alley participants. If you’d like to hang a collage of your work behind you, look for photography backdrop tripods, which can collapse and fold up neatly. The behind-the-table space is shared with other artists, and it can get cramped. Be mindful of your needs when deciding how to do a backdrop. Some artists opt to exclude a backdrop and just use their cubes to arch over them.

Optional: Decorate your table! Flowers, string lights, plushies, etc. can all bring a special one of a kind experience to your set up.

2. Behind The Table

a) Inventory

Now that we’re behind the table, let’s talk about what’s going on back here. Starting with inventory. If you’re absolutely unsure how much to bring, a good starting number is about 10 of each item. If you sell out, congratulations! You’ll know what to bring more of next time, or you’ll know you should raise your prices. For storing inventory during transportation to the con and while at the show, you might consider simple boxes, an accordion folder, or a portfolio case, depending on what kind of items you’re bringing. Reminder: if you’re using display cubes, structuring them to give you shelves on your side of the table will help you keep things organized.

b) Suitcase/storage tote

Under your feet will be your suitcase/tote box, and perhaps a dolly, if you used one to wheel your boxes into the building. It is recommended that your suitcase/tote has a lock on it, as you’ll be leaving inventory overnight. Hopefully no matter what you use, it has wheels of some kind. All this gear gets heavy. If you are not using a wheeled device, make sure to check your pack’s weight as you assemble your supplies. You will have to carry it from the parking garage or bus stop through the convention center, and back out again at the end of the show.

c) Cover cloth

What else is in that box? Your cover cloth. This one is optional, but some artists like having a lightweight cloth to cover their table when the day is done. Something like a vinyl picnic tablecloth works perfectly. The cover cloth helps prevent anyone from accidentally knocking your things over or having things go missing.

d) Business cards

On your side of the table, you ought to have plenty of back up business cards. You’ll have some of these out on the table for passersby to pick up, but this item is the number one thing you’re going to hand out the most of. It’s always better to have too many rather than too few. For a single three day convention, you might need 200+ cards. Make sure your website/online shop is easy to find on your cards. Cute business cards go a long way to making your table memorable long after the con has ended.

Bonus supplies: Here’s a short list of things you might need throughout the weekend to touch up your display. Keep them in a bag and bring them with you every time you table!

3. Money

a) Card reader

The most commonly used card reader is Square, but there are alternatives. Research their fees and prices to determine what fits your needs. You’ll want to get a hold of a card reader and set up your account well in advance of your show. Card readers require wifi/data to work and will only work in your country of business, so take that into consideration when packing for your show. Most convention halls have wifi (sometimes at a cost), but if your show is outdoors you might be relying on data.

b) Cash/change

Cash is king! Make sure to bring enough cash/change for your show. About $25-50 in small bills is usually enough if you’re also accepting card. At the end of the day, consider tucking your big bills away in a secure location in your hotel room. If something were to happen to your bag, you’ll appreciate not having your entire weekend’s earnings in it!

c) Fanny pack

Keeping your cash attached to you at all times is smart. People often use fanny packs or cross body bags to manage their money.

4. Quality of Life

a) Backup battery

Since you may be using your phone to complete transactions, or maybe you’re drawing on your iPad with time to kill, you’ll want to bring a back up battery. Most tables don’t have access to electricity, so having a battery and charging cables is a good idea.

b) Hand sanitizer & masks

One hand sani pump out front and one behind the table. You’ll be handling money, shaking hands with strangers, and touching surfaces that thousands of people have been touching all day. As long as there have been conventions, there have been con plagues. You don’t want to get knocked out with a cold (or worse) so masking is great!

c) Table buddy

If you’re able to, bring a friend to help you table. Cons will often give tablers 2 passes (one for you and one for a friend). They can help you grab coffee or lunch, get change, package a big purchase, cover you for bathroom breaks, etc. Table buddies are truly the unsung heroes of artist alley.

d) No table buddy? No problem.

Check in with con staff and volunteers. Many comic cons will have a green room for artists to take a snack break and decompress, and con staff will help guide you there. Some conventions also enlist volunteers to help sit your table while you’re away. They’ll make sure your table stays in order, direct people to your business cards, and inform curious patrons when to expect you back.

e) Fun stuff!

There will be plenty of downtime. Con hours are long and often slow in the mornings. Bring something to keep you occupied, but not too engrossed, so you can easily pull away to greet customers and fans. Fidget toys, a puzzle book, knitting or crochet project are all great ideas.

f) Get Comfy, Eat Well, Stay Hydrated

Going from your quiet desk to the high octane energy of artist alley can be a shock to the system. Some items to help reduce the fatigue are: noise canceling headphones during downtime and breaks, sunglasses to combat the fluorescent lights and rest your eyes, slippers or comfy shoes for under the table, and layers of clothing. Convention halls can fluctuate temperatures wildly. With lots of AC during the summer, sweaty crowds, and the flow of traffic to your table, you’ll be working up a sweat fulfilling transactions one second then freezing after sitting still for a minute.

Most importantly, have a small cooler with snacks and drinks. You may not get a break, but it’s important to stay hydrated and energized.

The next time you're at a convention, take note of displays that inspire you. #ArtistAlley and #ConTable tags on Instagram or TikTok can connect you with creators sharing their setups. Your table design is an opportunity to be creative and express yourself, while also learning along the way what works for you. Most tables, however, are built up over several convention seasons of trial and error, so while it’s good to take note of others' displays as a source of inspiration, try to keep your first table relatively simple. The more you table, the more you’ll be able to identify your needs for you and your merchandise.

We’ll close out this blog post with one final suggestion. Big, multi-day conventions can be fun, but they can also be expensive. Your tabling supplies and inventory aside, if you’re doing a show away from home, you’ll contend with table fees (often $250-450 USD), hotel, transportation, meals, etc. And not every convention is a good fit for your wares! Small, local events and art festivals are a great, low stakes, relatively cheap (or free) way to start tabling. Check your area for zine fests, queer makers markets, and craft fairs.

A Perfectly Gallant Plan

The plan is quite simple, but effective. Haori wanted to experience a real British ball like she’s read in her favourite books so Kazuma-sama offered to be her official partner at the ball while Susato would have Naruhodo-san as her dancing partner. However, Haori also expressed the desire to dance with Susato, even though it is not conventional and she did not wish to attract people’s attention, especially from the judgemental British crowd, thus Susato thought of a way they could find themselves alone. With an additional surprise to boot.

“It’s an intricate design, Iris truly is a genius,” Susato praises as she spins once to test out the skirts of her dress. The pale pink fabric flows gracefully around her but, unbeknownst to anyone else, Susato wears a pantsuit hidden beneath the frilliness.

“Then could you stop moving so I can properly tighten your bodice?” Kazuma-sama calls, although there’s an endeared smile on his lips.

“I appreciate my ability to breathe, Kazuma-sama.” She sighs even as she obeys and stands still.

“And Barok is awfully uptight about dress codes, unfortunately for everyone,” Kazuma-sama says as he gets to work, lacing the strings of the bodice together to form a bow. She tentatively moves her arms around, smiling at the floral embroidery in her puffed-up sleeves before tracing the delicate lines of the bodice carefully with the tip of her gloved fingers. “Alright, you should be able to easily detach the skirts from behind, but you’ll need help putting them back on.”

“That won’t be an issue… I think.” The most likely scenario is that they will stay until the ball is over and spend the night at the manor, after all. “You'll make sure no one else tries to go to the balcony, right?”

The plan is quite simple, but effective. The balcony seemed like the simplest and yet best solution to this small dilemma.

"If anyone needs some air, I'll redirect them to the garden," her brother confirms, a hand held high and another on his chest as if swearing an oath. “But no one ever goes to the balcony during these events, they’re all too busy trying to gain Barok’s favour. It’s all about status and politics, really.”

“What about your favour, then?” Susato teases. He doesn’t dignify her with a reply and reaches forward instead to adjust the floral pins in her hair. Susato closes her eyes at the familiarity of it all, it almost feels like being back in Japan, except the clothes are different, perhaps a bit more restrictive but as elegant nonetheless, and she will experience her first western ball instead of a familiar night outdoors surrounded by pretty lights and lively chatter.

“So, how do I look?” she asks.

Kazuma-sama smiles, offering his hand. She takes it and laughs softly as her brother makes her twirl. “Like you could blow all of London away,” he praises.

She rolls her eyes. “Mm, I only need to impress one person.”

“And you will,” he says as if it’s the simplest truth in the world. And perhaps it is. 

Even so, she asks, “Would you mind if we just practise dancing one more time? But I will lead this time.” She just needs to be sure she can comfortably lead the dance with someone taller. Haori isn’t usually that much taller than her, but she will surely be wearing heels and with that she’d be around Kazuma-sama’s height.

Kazuma-sama bows and offers his hand once again, “Well then, shall we?”

“I should be the one offering my hand, shouldn’t I?”

“Do not overthink it,” he replies.

Right. She lightly slaps her cheeks before she steps forward and takes Kazuma-sama’s hand. His other hand lands on her shoulder while she rests hers on his waist. She’s practised before, of course, her father had taught her right before leaving for London again. “Just in case,” he had said, because apparently he and Mr Sholmes had to sneak into ballroom events often during their investigations. Fortunately, in this case, no mystery is to be resolved, it should only be a moment of leisure and celebration. Susato is still unsure exactly how Iris managed to convince Lord van Zieks to organise a ball essentially for them but she will take full advantage of it to make her best friend live out one of her hopelessly romantic dreams.

Nodding to herself, she starts the dance with a confident first step and then counts the beats in her head as she leads her and Kazuma-sama in a simple waltz around the room. As both her father and brother instructed her, a dance is all about trust, in yourself and in your partner. She chances a look up, to see that Kazuma-sama has his eyes closed, leaving her the full reign of both this dance and his faith that she won’t lead them towards a fall. She smiles, quickly looking around and spotting a stool nearby. She expertly leads them closer so she can jump on it so she is able to twirl Kazuma-sama without struggle. She laughs at his bewildered look as his eyes fly open although he quickly recovers.

“Thank you, Kazuma-sama,” she says, bowing her head.

Kazuma-sama laughs softly. “My pleasure, though I don’t feel like I did anything. Ready to blow all of London— I mean, sweep Haori-san off her feet?”

Susato hums, “More than, let’s make my girl’s dream come true!”

Susato does not end up blowing all of London away, in fact, because it turns out that Naruhodo-san, despite the many dances of deductions, is a clumsy ballroom dancer. It is most likely the nerves and the need to appear all proper; his hands are all sweaty even through the gloves they both wear. Susato ends up being the one to lead between them because Naruhodo-san hesitates at each step, eyes always downcast, afraid to step on her feet. It’s a bit of a shame, Susato thinks, he looks quite dapper in the suit he has borrowed from her father — a dark blue suit paired with a white blouse and a light blue waistcoat underneath. He ditched any head cover, however; apparently he still hasn’t recovered from her and Iris making fun of the way he looks with a top hat.

(Susato only feels slightly guilty about it.)

On the other hand, Kazuma-sama is a natural in the ballroom. It makes sense, as Lord van Zieks’ former apprentice, he must have followed the man to countless events such as these. From the corner of her eye, Susato watches as her brother and Haori breeze through the British crowd, outshining absolutely everyone in the room, in her eyes at the very least. They’re quite the contrasting pair; Kazuma, hair slicked-back, wears a dark burgundy suit with gold buttons paired with a lace cape over the shoulders, while Haori wears a pale yellow silky dress that gently hugs her form with purple flower accents, but she insisted on having her obi belt wrapped around the waist.

Susato is quite eager to have her turn.

“The sun is setting,” she says, tearing her eyes away from the pair to focus on Naruhodo-san again. The defence attorney lets out a relieved breath. She rolls her eyes at him as the music comes to an end and she lets him lead them towards a buffet table, not too far from the balcony.

Another song starts and she catches Kazuma-sama’s eyes just as Haori’s back is turned to her. In that split second, Susato raises the glass she grabbed from the table a moment prior. Kazuma-sama nods, looking briefly at Naruhodo-san before focusing back on his dance.

“Here,” Naruhodo-san says, taking a small key out of his breast pocket. “The key to the balcony’s doors, just in case. Me and Kazuma will close the curtains once Haori-san joins you so you don’t have to worry about being seen either.”

“Oh,” is all she manages to say as she takes the key. That wasn’t part of her original plan.

“Kazuma has another key in case something goes wrong though, don’t worry! But I’m sure everything will be fine,” Naruhodo-san continues with a smile. “Now go, Mr Sholmes will make a scene so you can safely sneak away.”

“Mr Sholmes will what—”

As if on cue, she hears a commotion behind her, eliciting several gasps and a very loud groan — Lord van Zieks, surely. She almost turns around to see what it is about but Naruhodo-san nudges her towards the balcony instead. She chuckles to herself as she disappears behind the beige and lavender curtains. As the cool air of London’s autumn hits her skin, her hands expertly detach the skirt from her bodice, before draping the fabric over her shoulders like a cape.

Time to channel her inner Ryutaro.

When Mr Sholmes suddenly collapses, Haori jumps in fright and the only reason she does not fall or get pushed around when people rush to the detective’s side is because Kazuma-kun expertly leads the both of them to safety, joining Ryunosuke-kun’s side near a buffet table. The defence attorney already has a glass of wine ready for Kazuma-kun to take, and one of lemonade that he hands to Haori.

“Shouldn’t we check on Mr Sholmes as well?” she asks, accepting the drink and immediately downing it. Dancing is tiring after all, she needs to remain hydrated.

“Barok is handling it,” Kazuma-kun replies.

Haori turns around and notices that the crowd has parted enough for her to be able to see Mr Sholmes sprawled on the floor, a hand dramatically draped over his forehead like a fainting lady, with a very annoyed Lord van Zieks standing above him.

“Lord van Zieks looks like he’d rather die,” she says.

“Exactly,” both men concur at the same time.

“To be fair, he always looks like that,” Kazuma-kun adds, lifting his glass up slightly as if cheering to that fact.

Coincidentally, Mr Sholmes suddenly stands up again with flourish. Haori frowns, about to question that as well, until she looks at Ryunosuke-kun again and realises—

“Where’s Susato?”

The two men share a conspiratorial smile before Kazuma-kun points towards the balcony. “She’s waiting for you.”

Haori decides against asking out loud the many questions that suddenly pop into her mind, in between Mr Sholmes’ sudden collapse and subsequent instant recovery and these two’s odd behaviour. She has not been able to talk with her best friend since this ball has started, however, therefore, she will simply head towards the balcony.

“Alright then,” she hands her glass back to Ryunosuke-kun, “I will be right back!”

“I don’t think so,” she hears the defence attorney mutter to himself before Kazuma-kun elbows him on the side. She just chuckles at their antics.

Haori shields her eyes with her right hand when she passes through the curtains. The chilly air of London fights against the warm sunset that greets her as she walks into the balcony. To her surprise, the balcony is decorated as well, vines and flowers slithering their way through the cobbled-stone railguard, looking as radiant as the flowers inside the ballroom. Temporarily distracted from what she had originally intended to do, she walks towards the guardrail, her gloved hand tracing the delicate petals of a lily when she hears someone clear their throat.

Oh, right, Susato!

Haori spins on her feet, already smiling wide to greet her friend only to falter at the sight before her. It is indeed Susato standing there with a sheepish smile on her lips but it is what she is now wearing that strikes Haori. Whereas she previously wore a beautiful ball gown made of shades of pink and ruffles, it is now replaced by a slick purple suit. Her bodice seems to be the same, although Haori could have sworn it was beige in the ballroom. It appears as a dark purple now against the sunset and under the cape Susato wears over her shoulders.

Susato clears her throat once more, offering a gloved hand as she bows.

“May I have this dance, Haori Murasame?”

Haori squeals and takes her hand without hesitation. “I’d be honoured, Susato Mikotoba!”

Relief washes over Susato as their fingers intertwine. Haori smiles, reaching with her free hand to push back a loose strand of hair behind Susato’s ear so she can properly look into those lovely brown eyes. Then, she rests her hand on Susato’s shoulder just as Susato pulls her closer with a hand on her waist. 

“Can I say you look rather gallant or are you tired of me saying that yet?” Haori chuckles.

“You really do have a favourite word,” Susato deflects although she’s smiling.

“That I use only for my favourite person,” she replies easily.

Susato blushes ever so slightly and Haori smiles. The music from inside can still be heard, although muffled behind the closed glass doors of the balcony. Haori can only see shadows dancing against the sunset from where she and Susato stand, a vision from a dream.

They start swaying, slowly, nervously. So unlike the Susato she knows, actually.

“Come on, we’re supposed to have fun,” Haori says lightly, bumping their foreheads together. “Stop fretting, you look like Ryunosuke-kun.”

That seems to do the trick because Susato straightens her back with a huff. “I sure hope not! He was sweating through his suit, do I look as nervous as him?”

Haori laughs. “Only teasing you.”

But there’s a fire in Susato’s eyes now, her posture more confident, her smile more carefree. Her touch on Haori’s waist is firmer, warmer and suddenly they’re moving. Susato moves expertly, as she does everything else. Haori smiles as she follows naturally, warmth and love filling her senses. Their feet glide over the balcony to the muffled sound of the music inside, Susato twirling her at every crescendo to the point of Haori’s head spinning as well, but she doesn’t mind, she isn’t afraid, she laughs, even, because Susato’s touch around her is steady and safe.

Then the music goes from lively to slow, and Susato matches the pace. Haori breathes in, not realising how out of breath she had been while Susato doesn’t seem all that tired outside of the healthy flush to her cheeks. The dance becomes slow again, but this time intentionally rather than out of nervousness. Haori leans their foreheads together again.

“Thank you,” she whispers. “For this whole evening. A dream come true.”

The twinkle in Susato’s eyes only shines brighter. “Anything for my favourite person.”

The music ends just as the sun sets, letting the moon bathe them in her light, but Haori and Susato keep swaying to the gentle beat of their hearts.

It is actually quite concerning that many youngsters consider smoking to be cool when it is so dangerous not just to your lungs but also to others. And I'm not addiction-shaming here, I just think we should discourage people from starting to smoke and offer resources to those who are already addicted.

Because new research has found that not only second-hand smoking but also third-hand smoking to have negative health consequences.

"A new study reveals that the residue of nicotine that lingers on surfaces can react with another chemical in the air to form potent carcinogens — chemicals linked to various cancers. While first-hand smoke is that inhaled directly by the smoker and second-hand is the smoke exhaled (and inhaled by others), third-hand smoke is the residue from second-hand smoke."

"The burning of tobacco releases nicotine in the form of a vapor that adsorbs strongly onto indoor surfaces, such as walls, floors, carpeting, drapes and furniture. Nicotine can persist on those materials for days, weeks and even months"

What are your file name conventions Ah jeez these can either be "The-Hanged-Man-DianeRamic-Tarot-mockup2.psd" with 6-12 metatags for easy searching later, or "himb2.png" with no in-between. I try to give "serious" art descriptive names, and silly art can be anything.

Favorite piece of clothing to draw Ponchos!!! you can see that a lot when I doodle aliens wearing clothes, I just think they're really versatile for a lot of different bodyplans, and can range from being simple to complex depending on what you want to draw. Me drawing so many human ocs with ponchos in middle school absolutely slowed me down in learning how to draw the human form though, haha. Turtlenecks and boots were something I'd pair them with pretty often, so you can call those two a close second and third. God pretty much all my ocs wear boots

Easiest part of body to draw If hair/feathers count it would be that! I like floof. But if it doesn't, wings and tails feel really easy to me, they're so useful as elements to make a cool composition with. If I draw a humanoid without wings it feels like something's missing and there's not enough going on, haha. If we're talking only human body parts, maybe the brow? Might be a weirdly specific one but those are the first thing I go for when I'm just doodling.

Where do you draw (don't drop your ip address this just means do you doodle at a park or smth) Oh at home, for sure, followed much further away by in book shop cafes. Very rarely outdoors or in bustle. Most often it's on my bed, sitting against one of those big back support pillows with my sketchbook , or crouching on the floor over a watercolor taped to a nice flat board. I have tried sitting at desks and don't really like it for freehand drawing.

Something your art has been compared to that you were NOT inspired by This one is really interesting because it got brough up at a convention this weekend! My vector work has been compared to Charlie Harper's work several times, and the first time I'd heard of him was well into doing 100+ of my vector critter drawings. I'm glad the question of if he inspired me came up, because his art is really cool, AND full of birds. And it didn't feel like a flippant or derogatory comparison either, anytime he's been mentioned. I have had plenty of weird ones where there might be one coincidental minor similar trait between a work I did and an existing work, but I think every artist gets those.

What's a piece that got a wildly different interpretation from what you intended 2 for this one 1: I once made a genderbend of one of my game show host characters where I zapped him with the twitter ecchi artist beam, and instead of being horrified people liked it because I wasn't strong enough to draw the full effects of the beam. 2: As a joke I drew something for one of those "ergonomic" mousepads people make with anime girls badonkers on them, but with one of my very buff scary monster guy characters (Cerule). I don't know what I was expecting but the enthusiasm was funny I'm not linking either of these here >:)

on the weekend of july 22nd-23rd, the largest fan convention for korean entertainment is coming to jamsil hangang park. rather than a concert event, enKOR fest is a celebration for kpop fans by kpop fans. the festival includes fun opportunities to mix and mingle with friends in your fandoms and others, and share and trade photocards, participate in cupsleeve events and random play dance games, and more!

the highlight of the event is the cover competition. divided into two main categories, dance cover groups and vocal covers both are encouraged to participate! all participants are asked to submit their interest online with forms open now until midnight before the first day of the festival. participants have the option to perform solo or in a group of up to twelve members for dance covers or six members for vocal covers. bands, instrumental covers, or alternate rearrangements are welcome in the vocal category! the best part of the festival is sharing creativity inspired by kpop artists.

performances will be held on a main stage throughout the day with dance performances held on saturday and vocal performances on sunday. the winners are announced at the end of the festival on sunday evening.

the convention will also feature an outdoor "artist alley" where you can explore various booths filled with fanmade kpop merchandise. from fandom-inspired accessories to photocard trades themselves, there's something for every kpop collector. local shops will also be selling the latest albums, allowing you to complete your collection or discover new favorites.
