“That’s amazing, Chunhua!”
The fire mage responded to the praise by weaving the flames circling around her into an elegant pointed pattern. Then, with a deliberate gentleness, she willed the flames away from her, to hover before the Kenrith twins who had been watching her. Will and Rowan applauded as the fire dissipated into a harmless array of sparks.
“Quite an impressive bolt!” Rowan cheered, earning a curious look from Chunhua.
“‘Bolt’? But it’s fire.”
“Oh, right. Yeah, but…er…” With her words failing her, Rowan desperately gave her brother a sideways glance. A little help here, Will?” she hissed.
“Ah, I think my sister meant the spell ‘Firebolt,’” Will helpfully specified.
“I’m not casting that, either,” Chunhua hummed, while turning to face Will. “I’m still not following.”
“Well, it’s just…well…”
And with that, Will’s words failed him as well. Both Kenrith twins were left staring helplessly at Chunhua, who gladly returned the gesture. Eventually the pyromancer resumed her casting, weaving another ornate shape out of fire as she spoke.
“Who taught you two magic? Because it wasn’t your parents…or maybe it was. Algenus is a fine king, but he always was a stranger to magic.”
“Excuse you?” Rowan spat, instinctively leaping to her father’s defense. “I’ll have you know, we learned magic from- Mmmph!”
Will quickly clapped a hand over his sister’s mouth and answered for her, “Our mother.”
“That makes sense,” Chunhua nodded. “Linden’s specialty is healing magic, after all. Only follows that she’d get some names wrong.”
Before Rowan could again speak in her parents’ defense, Will stopped her with a forceful tap on the shoulder. “I’m sure we don’t need to bore Chunhua with the ‘details’ of our magic education,” he hissed.
“Well why not- Ohhhh, right. That’s why we…in the first place. Gotcha!” Rowan gave Will a theatrical wink and thumbs-up, earning a groan from her brother.
[I wonder whether anyone calls em “bolts” in-universe?]

Got it.
My criteria: It had to have "the" in the middle to denote their title, and it had to be able to be pronounced as "DA da, da DAdada" (in other words, the same meter as "Mentos, the Freshmaker").
Here's the list:
Lucas, the Sharpshooter Bontu the Glorified** Breeches, the Blastmaker Breena, the Demagogue** Brinelin, the Moon Kraken Kenzo the Hardhearted Dargo, the Shipwrecker Doran, the Siege Tower Dromar, the Banisher Eriette, the Beguiler** Ertai, the Corrupted Evelyn, the Covetous Gisa, the Hellraiser Grismold, the Dreadsower Grolnok, the Omnivore** Immard, the Stormcleaver Jaxis, the Troublemaker* Jodah, the Unifier Judith, the Scourge Diva** Kaervek the Merciless Kaervek, the Punisher Kamber, the Plunderer Kellan, the Fae-Blooded Kenrith, the Returned King** Keskit, the Flesh Sculptor Kestia, the Cultivator* Kethis, the Hidden Hand** Kogla, the Titan Ape** Makari, the Lucky Grot** Kura, the Boundless Sky** Laurine, the Diversion Linden, the Steadfast Queen** Lorthos, the Tidemaker Lutri, the Spellchaser Magda, the Hoardmaster Mairsil, the Pretender Negan, the Cold-Blooded Marwyn, the Nurturer Najal, the Storm Runner Neheb, the Eternal** Nekusar, the Mindrazer* Obosh, the Preypiercer Ognis, the Dragon's Lash** Oros, the Avenger Parnesse, the Subtle Brush** Piru, the Volatile** Preston, the Vanisher Rakdos, the Defiler Rakdos, the Showstopper Regna, the Redeemer Ryusei, the Falling Star** Samwise the Stouthearted Saryth, the Viper's Fang** Sauron, the Lidless Eye** Sauron, the Necromancer* Sedris, the Traitor King** Sengir, the Dark Baron** Sheoldred, the Apocalypse* Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon* Slimefoot, the Stowaway Slogurk, the Overslime Sol'kanar the Swamp King* Surrak, the Hunt Caller Tana, the Bloodsower Tawnos, the Toymaker Teneb, the Harvester Thantis, the Warweaver Tinybones, the Pickpocket* Tormod, the Desecrator* Toxrill, the Corrosive** Tymaret, the Murder King Tyvar the Bellicose Uril, the Miststalker Volrath, the Shapestealer Vraska, the Silencer Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver Zedruu the Greathearted Zirda, the Dawnwaker Zo-Zu the Punisher
You've noticed the asterisks. * indicates that it doesn't actually fit the criteria, but it fits the vibe (Tinybones has three syllables, not two, but... fits the vibe!). ** indicates that it's the right number of syllables, but not the right metre (the emphasis is on RO for the word Corrosive, so Toxrill, the Corrosive just doesn't work).
Thank you for indulging me in investigating this very silly thing.
you know how a lot of phrases fit the cadence of "teenage mutant ninja turtles"?
i'm doing the same thing
but by "phrases" i mean legendary creatures
and by "teenage mutant ninja turtles" i mean "mentos, the freshmaker"
the most recent one i've added to the list is "kamber, the plunderer"
i will notify you when i'm done

Garruk Wildspeaker, an introspection
I have been working on this wee comic for a while now! Garruk is one of my favourite MtG characters of all time, and I was so happy to see him finally free of the Chain Veil's curse after all this time in Eldraine, however it was also sad that he was put back on the shelf as soon as Eldraine was over, and seemed back to normal right away in M21.
So this is a comic about Garruk mulling over his new sense of clarity, and guilt for what he did while cursed, and how he wants to move forwards. Since Wizards probably won’t, or at least wont for a long time.

Note
It's my birthday, my twin brother's birthday, and my nephew's birthday. Can you please give us any trivia you have that relates to both family and Magic?
There have not been a lot of nuclear families where all members of the family has an individual card. The one that comes to mind is Rowan, Will, King Kenrith, and Queen Linden.
Happy Birthday to all the members of your family!

i'm really impressed that wotc was willing to handle such a delicate topic in the novel, with the twins being born from a man being raped by a woman to conceive children. further the queen was such a wonderful adoptive mother to them, i'd never have guessed she wasn't their birth mother. that's the kind of role model i like to see.
What happened to King Kenrith is similar to what happens to King Arthur in versions of the Arthurian Legend, so the inclusion makes sense.
Also note, the Kenrith Twins were murdered by their birth mother for power.
Queen Linden is a wonderful person on so many different levels and I love their family so much. She takes the Kenrith Twins without a second thought and sacrifices her chance at become High Queen. And never once complains or even tells anyone about it. And still raises the children with love and warmth so they never feel like she is anything other than their mother.

Throne of Eldraine Unboxing Part 3 of 3
Pack 21 and 22
Another blurry pic.
Oh wow, Wishclaw Talisman would be a good fit for my deck. We can pass it around, bounce it back to my hand, and get three wishes again.
You get a wish, you get a wish, everybody gets a wish!
Once Upon a Time should be good to trade with others or sell for store credit. It’s nice but it’s not that useful in Commander.
Pack 23 and 24
The storybook Fae of Wishes is store credit fodder. It doesn’t work in Commander barring house rules. Also, it doesn’t really fit into my deck and building a wishboard to accomodate it would just be a hassle.
I live near Lindenwood University (as in walking distance near). I’m sure there are some college nerds who want to go all in and make a deck themed around their school. Sadly, Linden isn’t worth much so she’ll probably go with the pile I plan on donating to the local library.
Pack 25 and 26
The Royal Scions will fetch a pretty penny. The effects don’t fit into my deck at all, plus I already have the original versions which fit much better.
I got a prerelease version of Castle Ardenvale in one of my prerelease kits and I think a regular version in another kit, but it doesn’t really fit into the deck I’m building.
Pack 27 and 28
Oathsworn Knight is an obvious reference to the Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Four +1/+1 counters correspond to his four limbs that Kenrith Arthur chops off.
youtube
Fervent Champion is store credit fodder. I have wanted to build a knight tribal deck but I don’t play Standard and I already have a Commander deck being built.
Hm... I might get back into Standard with a knight tribal deck. Maybe, if I had the time.
Pack 29 and 30
Archon of Absolution is a pillowfort effect but I don’t know if I have the space for them.
Feasting Troll King doesn’t fit my deck and I don’t generate enough Food tokens to keep bringing him back.
Pack 31 and 32
Drown in the Loch is one of the most expensive non-mythics, non-rare cards in this set. Heck, it might even be Modern-playable due to its power and versatility.
Hushbringer is interesting. It’s a Torpor Orb on a stick like Hushwing Gryff but cheaper and with more toughness. It doesn’t fit into my deck so it’ll just be store credit fodder.
Pack 33 and 34
I tried a different orientation for these two packs. Much easier to see which cards came from which pack.
Castle Vantress might be useful, but I’d probably just trade or sell it. On the other hand, Folio of Fancies will definitely be going into my deck. It’s like giving everyone a free Reliquary Tower.
Pack 35 and 36
Welp, my last two packs are duds.
And that’s it. Next time, I’m going to take pictures of the cards I got from my two prerelease events plus the four booster packs I won.

Below is me talking about seeding
Honestly the seeding was pretty simple but I figure I should lay it out. First off, to be clear, this is a normal 128 slot bracket but just split up into 4 sections. The seeding pattern is based on this chart from printyourbrackets.com, its just kinda, folded and torn apart. So for example, on this bracket, Alesha is the 1 seed and Elesh Norn is the 8 seed. That should give you an idea as to how it was put together.
As for the seeding itself - The top 40-ish characters are ranked based on how many submissions they received. All of them received at least 2 submissions and they're ordered as such. Characters with the same number of votes are randomized. The rest of the bracket either got one submission or no submissions (I needed to fill out some space so I am counting MYSELF as the one submitter, thank you) and these were randomized with two exceptions: Halana vs. Alena and Niv Mizzet vs. Jace Beleren. In the case of the former, let's be honest they kinda represent the exact same thing on a bracket like this. And in the case of the latter: funny.
I hope that my intense bracket rigging isn't scandalous to you. Love you <3
Anyway, remember to girlboss on down to the polls when they open tomorrow at 12:00 PM EST

“Here you are, Algenus. One sword marking you as heir to the throne.”
The soon-to-be King Kenrith took the blade from the grinning merfolk, and lifted the weapon high in the air. The blade caught the morning light and caught fire, instantly turning the water on its shiny surface to steam. Once dry, the sword began to emit red sparks of lightning, and soon crackled with power, much to Kenrith’s delight.
“Wonderful work, Emry! I must say, this must be your finest work yet. Though I am compelled to ask, how did you put the fire magic in it underwater? Not to mention imbuing the lightning without frying yourself!”
Emry smirked up at the future king. “That’s a trade secret, my liege.”
“I’m not king yet,” Kenrith snorted.
“But you will be. And I’m happy for you.”
“Thank you. Oh, right! Speaking of which…”
Kenrith knelt down on the shore of the loch, and offered an outstretched hand to Emry.
“Linden and my offer still stands. You could join us at Castle Ardenvale and live in luxury as our royal blacksmith. With the two of us for companionship, of course.”
Emry wryly shook her head. “I am sorry, but no. My place is here.”
“…Giving out soggy swords to soggy travelers on the road?”
“Yes! Like yourself!”
“All right, all right,” Kenrith grumbled good-naturedly, as he rose. “If you ever change your mind, please seek us out. And regardless, you are welcome to accompany us within our walls anytime!”
“Thank you, my king!”
Kenrith turned to walk away, and shouted over his shoulder.
“Still not a king yet!”

Emry lifted her head above the surface of the water to grin mysteriously at the nobles standing on the shore of the loch. The fae carried in her hands a glowing sword wreathed with flame and lightning that somehow left its bearer and her lake untouched.
“You know, Algenus, Linden,” the merfolk smirked, “if you continue coming back here so often, you may as well just go ahead and name me your royal blacksmith.”
Linden spoke first, in the practiced tone of a royal. The queen’s grand smile was far more graceful than the grumbling king trailing behind her.
“Ah, Emry,” the queen sighed languidly, “it is wonderful to see you again. And I see you have already prepared another weapon. Excellent.”
From behind Linden’s back, King Kenrith began to protest, in a much less aristocratic timbre.
“Ah, hello, dearest Emry! But, who said our visit was out of need for another sword? Surely we can spend time with a close companion, no?”
Emry smirked at the king. “Early afternoon. Just in time for His Majesty to break another of the queen’s weapons during their regular morning sparring session, and ride out here asking for a replacement, as has become customary over the past few months.”
“Is, ah, is it really that regular?” Kenrith sighed.
“Like clockwork, Your Grace.”
Linden and Emry shared a chiming laugh at this, leaving Kenrith rather sore.
“All right, all right,” the man muttered. “Perhaps Queen Linden is the better duelist of us two…Though she can’t rightly govern worth a darn.”
Linden raised a questioning eyebrow.
“What was that, my love?”
“N-Nothing, dear. I’ll just…get the sword now.”
Kenrith knelt down to take the sword from Emry.
“Thank you, Emry,” the king murmured quietly. “Shall the three of us still…rendezvous this evening?”
Emry smiled warmly.
“Wouldn’t miss it for the world, Your Grace.”
[Linden is teaching Kenrith proper swordfighting so he’s not elk’d so easily next time. It’s…uh…it’s going.]

Finally finished with their parade, King Kenrith and Queen Linden soon regained the haven of their much quieter castle, flanked only by their guards.
“That went well,” Linden chimed. “I am glad you have returned to us, Algenus.”
Kenrith laughed in response. “As am I, my love! My time as an elk was rather…interesting, but it is good to be back home.”
“Your majesty?”
A tall, spindly merfolk emerged from the fountain in the middle of the hall to stare at the royals.
“Why, Emry!” Kenrith greeted loudly.
“Hello, Emry,” Linden greeted, much more quietly.
“Hello, your majesty,” Emry sighed.
“Please, dear, I told you, you may call me Linden.”
“Er, right. Sorry.”
“Now that the pleasantries are out of the way,” Linden mused, “shall we retire to our chambers?”
Kenrith’s tired sigh echoed through the hall. “I thought you’d never ask. It’s been far too long since I’ve had some proper rest!”
Emry solemnly sunk back into the water, her glimmering golden eyes hovering just above the surface. “I see. I shall take my leave, then…”
Emry continued sinking into the fountain, only to be interrupted by objections from both royals.
“Emry,” Kenrith began, as he outstretched a hand to the merfolk. “Why are you leaving? I said, it’s been a while since I’ve had ‘proper rest.’”
Emry’s eyes sparkled. “Oh! I thought…”
Linden smiled warmly at Emry, and also held out her own hand to the fae. “Nonsense, dearest Emry! Tired or not, we shall always welcome your presence here. Now, shall we?”
Emry managed a small smile as she took both royals’ hands and lifted herself from the pool. “Of course, Linden, Algenus.”
[The king and queen are deeply devoted to each other, but they’re also more than happy to accommodate Emry with a kind of FWB thing.]
