Man, I can’t stop thinking about this ask you got a few days ago about Lin having a daughter that looks like Suyin and how much angst potential it has!

Little-suyin look-alike thinking her mom doesn’t love her, or at best love her least out of her siblings, because of potential bonding issues!

Lin and Su Look-Alike getting into a heated argument about something and in the heat of the moment Lin accidentally calls her daughter Suyin!

Lin and Su Look-Alike having a great time together and it makes Lin reminisce about happier times with her baby sister before their relationship fell apart

So many juicy scenarios to play with, I love it!

Yes, so much angst potential if Lin had a Su-twin kid

If we're gonna go angsty on this one, her daughter feels like Lin doesn't love her. It just feels like no matter how hard she tries to connect with Lin, there's something blocking that.

Her mom can't get into dancing too much

Her mom hasn't trusted her even though her daughter has proven to be extremely responsible

After that argument she has with Lin, she sits in her room and looks at all her things with tears in her eyes.

"I don't belong here..."

And so she makes her decision that night.

She doesn't take much with her and almost startles Oogi awake. Su-twin is an airbender (no tattoos yet) and has her own sky bison to slip away.

The next morning, Tenzin finds her letter and wakes up Lin at the crack of dawn.

"Lin, you need to wake up. Right now! She's gone!"

She's still sleepy. "What are you talking about?"

"She ran away."

Lin snatches the letter from him, not believing a single word he's said.

By the time you read this, I won't be in Republic City anymore. Please don't follow me or try to find me. I'll manage. I've finally learned that I simply don't belong in the family. I'm finally giving you your happiness. A life without me. I tried. I really did. I'm sorry for being a burden. For being a mistake. For being everything you never wanted. It's better if I'm gone. Life without me is better, and now I understand that. Goodbye.

Lin has tears streaming down her face, and she wastes no time trying to go after her daughter and figure out where she went.

Hours become days.

Days turn into weeks.

Weeks have become one month.

Lin is worried sick about her daughter. She's trying hard not to think about the worst possible scenario - death. As a mother, she would feel if something happened to her child. But her emotions are chaotically everywhere, perhaps she's overlooked her own intuition to hold onto a delusional hope.

Lin sent out a message across all nations to share to her daughter, and she hopes that she can hear the message.

"Please come back to me. I'm sorry. I love you."

Lin keeps pictures of all 4 of them in her wallet and claims it's only because they go missing and/or are kidnapped on the regular so she needs them to make a quick missing poster.

Headcanon that the gaangs kids learn about Zuko’s misguided quest to capture the avatar and subsequently make a game out of it.

Bumi steals an air nomad necklace from his dad and whoever wears it becomes the “avatar” for the duration of the game. The “avatar” is given 100 seconds to hide.

When they “capture the avatar” the winner must shout “I have restored my honor!”

Zuko is mortified, everyone else thinks it’s endlessly hilarious.

Pema went to go find her children and happened upon a scene she never thought she would see in her wildest dreams. Meelo, fresh from a bath that Lin had just given him, stared wide-eyed and awestruck as the woman formed a stone into a turtle duck and offered it to Ikki. Jinora sat off to the side looking at Lin with adoration.

Pema hid just outside the doorway, baffled that Lin Beifong of all people had just given her toddler a bath. She never thought the woman would actually do something like that. She watched Lin interact with them and wondered if she really even really knew the old earthbender at all. This was a facet of her personality she never would have believed existed if she hadn't seen it for herself. A deep pain shot up from her center and she sucked in a sharp breath and moved away, not wanting to spoil the tender moment the group seemed to be having. She held her stomach, the fear of what happened during her last pregnancy crept up her spine.

Was that a contraction just now? Or was the baby just kicking? Was something wrong? Would she have to suffer through another miscarriage?

I present to you a few fun moments Linzin has with each of their kids when they're tiny:

Kang

He's doing his homework at the table.

"Mommy. Mommy! MOMMY!!!"

Footsteps come closer. "Don't shout. Use your indoor voice."

Kang wiggles in his seat. "When were you and Daddy born?"

"He was born in 119, and I was in 120."

"Did you meet Avatar Kyoshi?"

She makes a face. "No. She was reborn as Grandpa Aang."

Scribbles filled the blank lines, his tongue poking out at the corner of his mouth. He paused. "Ok. Were you alive when the Fire Nation attacked?"

Lin puts a hand on her hip. "How old do you think I am?"

Kang blinks. "Enough to know all the Avatars."

She mentally facepalms.

"Did Daddy get meet Avatar Wan before you then?"

Areum

She's sitting in Lin's lap at an event and turns to face her mother. Lin is engrossed in a conversation with a colleague, who also happens to be a mother. So it doesn't surprise Lin's colleague when she sees Areum suddenly turning and playing with the betrothal necklace.

"Mommy." Her fingers trace the designs.

"Hold on, sweetie. Mommy is talking to someone."

Areum pouts and grumbles under her breath until the lady finally leaves the table.

"Mommy," she groans.

"What is it?"

She points at the necklace. "I want one too."

Lin touches it for a moment, trying to remember which necklace she's wearing. Immediately she knows. "Then you need to marry someone from the Water Tribe to make you one when they want to marry you."

"I don't wanna wait."

A few days pass and Areum goes up to Tenzin.

"Daddy, can you make me a 'get married' necklace?"

He picks her up and holds her in his arms. "A what?"

"A necklace like Mommy's. The one you gave her when you got married," she explains and Tenzin 'ah's in understanding. "I asked the boy in my class, but he doesn't know how to."

Tenzin frowns. "Which boy?! He's not going to make you any necklace."

"Why not?"

"Bc you're not getting married, sweetie. Especially not to whoever this boy is."

"But--"

"No buts. I'll make you a 'get married' necklace."

Jin

Lin is working weird hours and Jin has been asking her and Tenzin everyday what time she's supposed to come home. Every day, Lin makes sure to write a note or tell him what time she's going to come home.

Today is a good day bc Mommy is coming home earlier! She's not coming home in the middle of the night. That means she can cook and play and go out on Oogi.

"I'll be home at 15:30."

Tenzin hears loud sobbing coming from the window and goes out to investigate. He sees his son, tears streaming down his face and cheeks red. His poor boy inherited his red-face syndrome.

Tenzin kneels next to his boy and holds him. "Why are you crying, Jin? Did something happen? Are you hurt?"

"MOMMY'S LATE. SOMETHING HAPPENED TO HER!! SHE SHOULD BE HOME BY NOW!"

He checks the clock. "It's only 15:31, son."

"THAT'S A MINUTE LATE, DADDY!!!"

It takes 20 mins for him to calm down his son (desserts did it for him, and he's willing to pay the price for a sugar crash later on). Finally, they hear metal boots clanking and Jin perks up, running to the person he's missed all day.

Jin hugs her and demands to know why she was late. He frowns at her for breaking her promise and not being home at 15:30 like she promised.

Lin rubs his back. "Alright, what will make you feel better?"

"I want dragon beard candy for breakfast. I can stay up late like you and Daddy. We go to the top of Kyoshi Bridge."

"Well, we can't do that all in one day. But we'll do that."

"And I want a baby brother."

Tenzin trips over air in the background.

Lin looks at Tenzin, then her son.

"Why do you want a little brother? You have your sister."

"So i can be a big brother. MeiMei is too mean."

"Well..." And she knows her husband is listening closely. "Daddy and I have to talk about it."

"Hmph."

Mei

It's summer and Tenzin is sure there's a heat wave rolling over Republic City this year. He's meditating without a shirt on because he's probably going to sweat with all the humidity surrounding the island.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Peaceful.

The air shifts and a tiny body climbs on top of him.

"Daddy, look at me."

He doesn't open his eyes. "Sweetie, I'm meditating."

The small figure climbs off of his back, but stands at his side and traces her fingers down the back of his head, along his back. She follows the lines until she can't reach.

"Mommy wants to know why you don't have your shirt on."

"Because it's hot."

Her hand disappears. "Okay."

For the next ten minutes, Mei doesn't disturb him. Then he feels her sit next to him. A swell of pride fills his heart.

'She's meditating with me. She's so sweet. My little baby girl. I love her so much.' he thinks.

Then he hears a new voice.

"Why is her shirt off?"

His eyes open immediately and he peers over at his firstborn. Sure enough, her shirt was thrown off to the side and she's sitting topless like him on the pavilion. From behind, Tenzin can see Lin holding their son on her hip and giving him that "what the hell?" look.

Before Tenzin can answer, his daughter pipes up,

"Daddy says it's hot, that's why he's not wearing a shirt. It's hot, so I took off my shirt too."

Lin sighs.

Why do kids take everything literally?

My little cousin (almost 16 now 🥲) watched season 1 of the legend of korra. Here's her opinions of the characters.

Korra: "beefy mommy"

Mako: "he's like zuko but somehow even worse"

Bolin: "every show needs a comic relief, and bolin is doing a horrible job at it"

Asami: "say what you want but irl she would NOT be attracted to mako in the slightest that guy has pointy eyebrows"

Tenzin: "i was expecting Aang's son to have a better sense of humor"

The airbender kids: "BABIES."

Lin Beifong: "now that's my kind of woman"

Pema: "boring i'm sorry"

Tarrlock: "he's like a slimy salesman so perfect for politics"

Amon: "i was genuinely hoping he'd be some cool spirit villain but he was just a dude who did everything bc he's angry. What's with this universe's villains and them just being random dudes all the time"

Iroh II: "he's like zuko but cooler in every way" Me: "he's voiced by the same guy too" Her: "yea no shit that VA doesn't even try to alter his voice i could tell right away."

Avatar Aang: "not him showing up late starbucks in hand to give Korra the Avatar State AFTER the fight"
