La Salle à manger des Porcelaines (The Dining Room of the Porcelains) This room at Versailles was created after designs by Ange-Jacques Gabriël (1698-1782) in 1769 as a new dining room for Louis XV’s post-hunt dinners but was most used by the young king Louis XVI and his queen Marie-Antoinette (1755-1793). The pair would invite guests here for dinners that were halfway between the official ‘Royal Table’ and more private meals. The table by Jean-François Limonne and chairs by Jean-Baptiste Boulard (1725-1789) and Jean-Baptiste Claude Sené (1748-1803) are from 1785-1786.
