So in S-4 I noticed that Totter was missing a lot of shots. I hadn't brought him in any other stage, cause the chains were always enough to reveal the Assassins and that made them easy enough to handle. But then I remembere how I dispatched them in S-1: By using SilverAsh and Passenger. I just got really fed up with that Challenge mode at some point. And I didn't remember them dodging a single attack. They never dodged any of Diamante's and Ebenholz's attacks in Stage 8 either, where I use Elysium's S2 to reveal them.

They have dodge only while invisible. When revealed by any means, they lose their dodge. There's only one operator in the entire game who can attack invisible enemies. They implemented a mechanic to specifically screw over Totter. John Hypergryph was scared of A FOUR STAR BESIEGER

Gen Z-er here and OH MY GOD YES IT'S ALL FNAF's fault (and game theory but it isn't his fault intentionally LMFAO) That's why so many new horror games (outside of action-based ones like Resident Evil etc) try going the "secret deep lore" route. So SO many horror/gaming gen-z's got into it through FNAF, and to understand ANYTHING about FNAF you had to know the lore, and to know the lore you had to dig and look at stupid random things. That's why IMO when it comes to games that are straight-forward (like Resident Evil) younger fans still go down the route of pointless lore-digging, because for us we got used to having to figure shit out from pointless easter eggs & shit. Gen Z fans can have a character explicitly get married wedding and all in a game but still need to dig through minuscule lore to make sure it ACTUALLY is canon before saying jack shit.

i get it because i love that kind of puzzle-like storytelling, too. that's why i got so invested in the evil within the way that i did. that game's story was a puzzle, and i was determined to put it together.

but i can't IMAGINE going anywhere outside of the game materials to do it, other than like... a final fantasy ultimania, which is understood to be a canonical encyclopedia of every FF world.

like, i asked john johanas for help here and there as i was going through TEW, but that's only because he was accessible and gracious and i could. but if i hadn't been able to do that, i wouldn't have bothered looking at anything any of the devs said.

but like

i was talking to a few people about this. @godtier and @friedesgreatscythe and a few others, but like. i feel like this is also a result of people who don't play video games getting into video game fandoms. and i don't mean to say none of you have ever played the game or anything -- just that vidya probably isn't your go-to medium of choice for fandom. which is fine. there's nothing wrong with that.

but when you don't understand how games are made, and you don't understand the industry, it leads to a lot of misconceptions about the end product. like, for example, all of those people who were like "oh man lily gao really listened to the criticism about her performance and did so much better in SW!" while everyone who knows how games are made sat to the side like "... it was all recorded at the same time... they developed SW concurrently with the base game..."

so when your basis is something like FNAF, which is developed by one guy -- it's just scott cawthon -- you don't know that that's outrageously atypical for game production. games like RE are developed by teams in the hundreds and change creative hands almost every single title. it's insanity to try to take all of those devs' words as canon, because the vision is constantly changing and no one's really been steering the ship since shinji mikami left capcom.

you don't know that concept artists aren't told details about the plot or really the characters that they're helping to design, so you have no reason to find it absurd to take the RE1.5's concept artist's word as canon.

you don't know that most devs have no real creative input on the game they're helping to develop. you don't know that the producer has more creative input than the director in JP game production, and you don't know that it's the other way around in western game production.

you don't know that there is no central lorekeeper in game series like this. there's not an encyclopedia of RE canon that each team references every new title. there's not an expert that pores over the details and helps advise the story. the only reference that any of the devs have are the games themselves.

and because there's no central lorekeeper, it's absolutely meaningless to say "capcom signed off on this information, therefore it's canon" because it's like... who? literally who at capcom signed off on this? random level designer #562? "the writing team"? who is that, exactly? do we have names? we don't, actually. because there's no such thing. because it changes all the time.

most RE supplemental material was either devised by capcom's marketing division or was contracted out to independent authors, comic artists, and mangaka. capcom licenses the title to those people in order for them to make their own personal project with it, so that capcom can then turn around and sell it and give the original artist a cut of the profits. that's what happens.

no one is checking their work. there's not an RE story guru meticulously taking notes of everything that's written. it's a business contract between artists and a corporation. that's all it is.

and that's why i wish you guys would like. ask me about the game industry and game development and storytelling more often. because i feel like that more than anything will help your understanding of not just this series, but any video game series you ever get into again in the future.

A brand that focuses on the image of the beautiful sea life. The clothes have two distinctive designs, one is to mimic the beautiful sea with the colorful corals and fishes while the other mimics the raging storm where the waves are violent and merciless. This is Cerule's preferred brand.

Mon Petite Monstre (私の小さな怪物)

Style: Gothic

A brand that centers around the aesthetic of the Beast's castle. The clothes are derived from the 1700s with a mix of idol elements and have a gothic style but are accessorized with cute accents to make it not entirely dark. This is Rozeline's preferred brand.

Tiger Blossom (タイガーブロッサム)

Style: Cultural

A brand that features Arabic-themed outfits based on Princess Jasmine. The clothing designs are derived from Southeast Asia and Egypt, also has a lot of Arabic and Egyptian patterns as well as jewelry to complement that entire look of the oasis in a hot desert. This is Vidya's preferred brand.

Magnolia Empress (マグノリア皇后)

Style: Cultural and Elegant

A brand that features Asian clothes with a slight hybrid from other styles. The clothes are inspired by the Northern Wei Dynasty, it also features some intricate patterns that depict dragons and magnolia flowers. There are also hybrids with European clothing styles. This is Jinlong's preferred brand.

Totem Travois (トーテムトラボア)

Style: Cute and Cultural

A brand that shows off a native look while making it look more modern and cute. The clothes have an ethnic-style, nature concepts, and sometimes have animal concepts and patterns based on Native America. There is also a hybrid style with clothing from Europe in the 1600s. This is Elu's preferred brand.

Calliope Calle (カリオペカレ)

Style: Quirky and Elegant

A brand that features the joy and festivity of a Mardi Gras parade. The clothes feature a 1920s style from New Orleans style with a mix of idol elements, lily pad flowers, and shiny accessories that remind you of fireflies are a key element in the brand. This is Perrine's preferred brand.

Chapter Thirty-Seven: Vidya Patil

Remus stood outside of Sirius’ Hogsmeade house, a sigh on his lips. He rose his knuckles to the wood and waited patiently for Sirius to answer. On Thursday night, pacing the waiting room of St. Mungo’s for news about Sirius’ condition, he vowed he would be a better friend. Because honestly, Remus was a shit friend just as much as Sirius was a shit friend. They never needed to truly step up before because that had always been the role bestowed upon James in their friendship group. James had watched out for everyone, he had been the one to listen and help with their problems, he had been the most compassionate one. Remus and Sirius had their fair share of problems, and James had been there at even the smallest whiff of one.

But James was dead. There was only Remus and Sirius left – probably the two least social members of the Marauders. They didn’t talk about feelings or emotions. That had been James. All James. Always James. Remus knew for months that he needed to emulate James with Sirius but he never truly had. It wasn’t a role that came easily to him, to either of them.

The door opened and Sirius looked absolutely exhausted. With a nod in greeting, Sirius stepped aside and allowed Remus to enter his house. Shoving his hands into his Macintosh coat, Remus turned around to face his oldest friend.

“How are you, Sirius?” Remus asked.

Sirius rubbed the back of his neck, his head cocking to the side. “Bloody exhausted. Everyone says how freeing therapy is, but nobody tells you how mentally tired you feel afterwards.”

Remus nodded. “It was good then?”

Sirius shrugged. “I don’t know. I wanted to drink after it, so… there’s that, I guess.”

Remus sucked in a breath, observing his friend. “Did you drink?”

“No, Remus, I didn’t fucking drink,” Sirius snapped, his eyes rolling towards the ceiling. “You did clean out the place over the weekend, did you not?”

Remus nodded. “Yeah, and I also told Aberforth not to serve you.”

Sirius let out a half laugh, half scoff. “I want to say fuck you but I suppose I should be grateful,” he replied, crossing his arms over his chest. 

Remus let out a low chuckle, not being able to help the soft smile the spread across his face. He stared at Sirius, soaking in the dark bags under his eyes and the lines that creased in his forehead. He looked thinner than normal, like he had been wasting away for the past couple of months without anyone the wiser. Remus was very acutely aware that his problems had probably started around the time Harry went back to Hogwarts. Without the teenager to care for and fret over, Sirius didn’t know what to do with his time. Remus knew how cruel one’s mind could be when left to its own devices.

“I’m sorry I didn’t spend Halloween with you,” Remus said, because the guilt had been eating away at him all weekend. “I just didn’t want to spend another Halloween depressed. Dora is so full of life and always so happy that I thought it would… I don’t even know. Just thought it’d be a nice change for once not to want to drink until I passed out on Halloween.”

Sirius nodded. “You don’t have to apologize for treating it like a normal day. It’s what James and Lily would want.”

“You’re my best friend, Sirius,” Remus explained, his eyebrows tugging down. “I should have been there for you.”

Sirius’ tongue peeked out to lick his bottom lip, his gaze dropping to the floor. “If it wasn’t Halloween, it would have been another day. It wasn’t just Halloween that had me drinking so heavily.”

Remus didn’t know what that meant. Surely, they were both just trying to survive October as best they could. If there was something else that was going on with Sirius, Remus hadn’t the foggiest idea as to what. But Andromeda had dropped a hint that something else was going on once he and Harry had gotten back from France a few weeks ago. Sirius hadn’t even been willing to talk to her until one day when she apparently had ambushed him at his house. Maybe Sirius would tell him so he could help as well.

Personality: Livia is naturally cheerful and enjoys being around family members and friends. Others state that people are naturally drawn to her due to her cheerfulness and compassionate behavior. She's very naive and childish, leading to some accidents(Getting caught in the human stampede from chapter 2 after Ziro tells her about a candy stand), but she is resilient and smart when she's not scared silly or having been tricked from trusting someone too much. She does have s scary side despite acting like a toddler and has been commented on by others that she's perfected Lilia's signature glare. She loves her family dearly and is protective of them, especially of Silver who is her favorite sibling out of them all, preferring to take the fall rather than them.

She can be a bit loud mouthed and accidentally sassy, having gotten it from Malleus while she was growing up. When she's upset, she has a sharp tongue and will do what it takes to get back at the person who thought it was okay to turn her positive emotions into negative ones. Even as Ogre she remains the same but plays no games when it comes to throwing down with the overblot boys. She's determined and soft-hearted when it comes to her goals, believing that one can reach if if they do their best.

Appearance: Livia stands at 5'6 which is 167 cms in height. Her hair color is midnight black with purple underneath, fading into a light blue, along with a streak of the same color at the front of her hair, but she ended up cutting her hair to waist length hating how long it was, and since she tended to stumble over her own hair a few times(which made Lilia laugh). Livia's eyes are a pale blue which is a sign of rebirth. Her jaguar ears are a bright yellow the same with her tail, but her ears are slightly smaller due to her only being half jaguar.

Livia, during the Diasomnia Arc, gets a pair of horns that curls around her ears. Her wings turn from black to a slightly lighter grayish black color, and now she always has her wings out at all times since her curse no longer affected her. Her eyes change from blue to gold, but is able to change colors depending on her emotions.

Her dorm uniform is the same as everyone else's residing in Diasomnia. Livia wears purple eyeshadow, done by Lilia, when in the dorm. Her uniform consists of a black all-weather coat with neon green and silver accents, black combat suspenders and belts, jodhpur pants, a small garrison cap, black gloves, and heeled knee-high boots.

The all-weather coat has asymmetrically colored lapels, with one black and one neon green. Both lapels have silver straps and buttons on them. Two silver zippers go down the center of the coat, lined with neon green stripes. The coat reaches below the waist in length, and the sleeves are folded up to reveal a neon green underlining with silver trim. Sebek wears a white collared shirt and black tie underneath his coat.

Over the coat and above the waist is a set of black belts with silver buckles. The lowest belt hangs at an angle, and connects to several silver spools of thread on his left hip. Between the belt and spools is a silver ornament, shaped like a spinning wheel. On the other side of the belt is a holster for a magic pen. The black combat suspenders worn above the belts have silver buttons and a unique cuff around the right arm that resembles a dragon’s wing.

The jodhpur pants are black with neon green stripes going down the outer seams, and the knee-high boots are black with neon green soles. The garrison cap is black with neon green trim, and the sides fold up to resemble curved horns.

Unique magic:

Emotion Weather(Formerly) Description: Livia is able to control the weather with her emotions(Happy means Sunny, Sad and crying causes rain, fury causes a thunderstorm, excitement causes a near drought, etc, etc), it activates if she chants a rhyme responding to her current emotion or current forced emotion ("Hail, Rain, Sunny, Storms respond to my sadness dear rain, bring a rain storm!"). It'll deactivate the moment she goes back to the emotion she's currently genuinely feeling.

Voodoo dolls(Currently) Description: Livias Unique Magic allows her to turn people and objects into voodoo dolls who become controlled by her and won't return to their normal forms unless she frees them so willingly. Her Unique Magic is revealed after she is revived by Meleanor and she returns to help the ramshackle group, Silver, Sebek, Idia and Ortho take on Malleus.

Background: Livia's bio father is Lilia Vanrouge and Thea Vanrouge. She also has several adopted older siblings and many younger siblings adopted and biological. She was initially feared by the people of her home, being labeled as a demon child, but she never let it get to her because she always had her family and friends love/support. After some time she started to be called the Friendly Hybrid/The Draconia's beastie, being seen as a popular lady of her hometown.

She was relieved for her mothers food so she didn't have to eat her fathers, but was pleasantly surprised that NRC's food tasted much better than her mothers.

-Her childhood friend/pen pals are Kalim and Azul, being the one who brought them together as childhood friends before Azul meets Jade and Floyd

-According to Rollo, Livia eats lots and lots of fruit rarely ever eating meat revealing that she's mostly vegan

-According to Silver, Livia is bad at cutting her hair so he, Golden or their mother take over that job

-Livia knows kickboxing and is a master at it but she tends to be too childish to remember to use it or she uses taekwondo more due to knowing more moves

-Like Silver, Livia attracts animals of all sizes and species, and they tend to be her source of protection/comfort if others aren't around

-According to Crowley, Livia might be part of Twisted Wonderland due to her thorn control power

-Livia has deadly allergies to Honey Lemon Tea, the reason why is currently unknown

-Livia is by far the only character who gets included in almost all the events, getting many cards but is the hardest to summon

-Other students have commented that she makes Lilia's expressions perfectly and that she could be his kid or sibling

-According to Lilia, he gave Livia her name because he knew others would be envious of how cherished she was by her loved ones

EVENT 021 - HOGSMEADE OLYMPICS 

With everything going on, local leaders and authorities decided that a community event to cheer everyone up and bring us all together. After much discussion, an event quite like the Olympics was put together.

Time to get your team spirit and competitive attitudes in check because there will be teams and there will be events and there will be a winner !! It’s important to remember that we’re all in this together and no matter how bad things seem to get, tomorrow is another day. As the late, great Albus Dumbledore said:

❝ Happiness can be found in even the darkest of times, but only to those who remember to turn on the light. ❞

This is not a time constrained event per se. All the events will take place throughout August and possibly into the first week of September. You will be allowed to continue and begin nonevent threads throughout but each activity/event should be acknowledged and incorporated into conversations, particularly when your character and their team are involved.

This is not an optional event. All characters will be taking part and have been split into teams (which you will find under the read more below). We encourage all muns to branch out and create new friendships/connections with each other through the team they’re in and the teams they’re playing against. A tournament board will be posted shortly, showing the first round of events/activities and we will be asking muns to vote in our OOC discord chat on the winners of each event sporadically throughout the month. There will also be a few extra awards such as team spirit, sportsmanship and more at an awards ceremony at the end of the month. 

Please use the tag #sdhqolympics1 for all threads that are meant for the teams taking part in events/activities. If it’s a closed thread for certain characters taking part, be sure to tag their blogs. Also if you want a specific plot where your character gets injured (minor injuries only) or helps the team win / causes them to lose, please run it past the main as soon as possible.
