#lilith: EVERYTHING IS FINE - BE COOL BRO

She had her eyes closed, just focusing on the unknown melody to soothe him and steel her nerves. Internally, she was a mess. Her heart pounded against her chest as a flood of emotions (love, anguish, regret, and guilt) washed over her. Oh, how the guilt weighed the heaviest in her heart. She was dreading this moment, their faithful moment back. There were too many unknown variables in the air. 

Despite the unknown, she knew one thing for certain, she could not leave Lucifer in this state. The moment she heard him speak, her eyes landed on him, she knew she had to do something. “Hey, stranger...” She whispers, trying to hide the wavier in her voice. She picked the corner of the blanket up and whipped away the tears from his cheeks. “You’re not doing so well, right?” 

Will she be able to mend this? Will she be able to soothe this mind? She doesn’t know, but she had to try. Just something. “Please tell me what’s going on in that head of yours…” The light surrounding her body dimmed into a soft nightlight glow.

O̴v̶e̸r̵l̸o̷a̸d̶e̸d̵- Open

Lucifer sighed as his baggy eyes roamed the darkened room, making sure he was alone. When he was satisfied of the solitude, he summoned one final thing from his reserve of strength.

His simple, yellow cotton swing, mounted on its vertical hammock stand. The King tucked his body securely into the fabric, and produced a small duck from one of his work chests. He fiddled with it..and mulled over the night.

It had been a wonderful night…but he’d pushed it. They’d renovated the dance studio, equipped it with more lights for the show Angel wanted to put on, displaying one of his routines. The bright LED lights and booming music had filled the establishment, along with laughter. He’d felt so integrated, so happy…so part of a family for the first time since he’d finally started reconnecting with his daughter.

The King had loved spending time with them, and so he’d ignored every warning sign. He pushed every throb and buzzing in his head with more snacks and conversation. Everyone was in the lobby now, still abuzz with excitement. He’d been invited to see more of his new friend’s dancing, and he was determined to. He was fine! He just…needed some time.

It didn’t bother him that he had to be in here, back where he could maintain an illusion of control. He was fine with the fact Niffty caught how bad he’d been stumbling on his words today and asked if he was still drunk. He was fine that Husk had trailed off in mid sentence and asked him if the bar lights were bothering him. He was fine that Charlie had to ask him the same question three fucking times before he heard it. And…he was fine that everything he’d planned today—his activities, his duties here, had been derailed again because of this.

He was fine.

He tinted his eyes beneath some dark glasses, and he was relieved they shielded the tears. “Eh….it’s…fine, Mortimer,” he managed out, smiling as he squeezed the rubber duck. “Sunglasses are…..what the cool kids are wearin’! It’s just you and me now, like old times. I guess.” He didn’t hear the door opening. “Just like, pssh, totally fine with that.”

Again, I thank you to the people who have followed me through, it motivated me to keep updating? Which is great because WHEN I rewatch this, I am excited to go through these notes and go "AWW", so whilst I am unable to rewatch this show again for the first time, I CAN see how I reacted, which I think is quite nice, don't you?

Now we got the feelings out of the way, ONTO SEASON 3 EVERYONE! The final stretch of our (virtual) adventure!

→One moment he was doing random room inspections, the next he was seeing MC sacrificing themselves to bring his dead sister back.

→His breath hitched, ngl.

→”MC... what in the actual hell are you doing?”

→He tried to keep his cool. It would be irrational if he started panicking.

→Is what he said to himself before grabbing MC and taking them away from whatever they were doing.

→”Are you ACTUALLY stupid?!”

→I��ve a headcanon that when he loses his cool, like really loses his cool, his vocabulary shortens by a lot and can’t speak much aside from same the same five words over and over because he’s so panicked. 

→MC was already crying, telling him that it’s for the better. That it’d make the brothers happy and it was her duty to do something like that. 

→”Oh, so you are actually stupid!”

→”We’ve been dealing with Lilith’s death for years! She needn’t come back! And for sure, you don’t need to go!”

→Everything turned out fine in the end.

→But he always has a mini heart attack when someone speaks of Lilith. Mostly when they say they miss her. 

→Was this close to banning everyone from speaking about her, but he isn’t that cruel. 

MAMMON

→He managed to find MC mid-planning. 

→They’d seem really out of it the past few days so, like the Great Mammon, he obviously had to check, not because he cares or something.

→His first reaction was to take whatever they had in their hands, perhaps a book about the subject, and throw it right out the window. 

→”MC WHAT THE FUCK”

→They explained what they were planning, and by the time they finished, both of them were in tears.

→Although, he would never admit that. 

→”MC, why?!”

→”NOT GOOD ENOUGH REASON.”

→He would never want to lose his MC.

→PLEASE DON’T MAKE HIM LOSE HIS MC. (said the author who wrote it in the first place)

→After all the sobbing ended, they just hugged it out.

→Caught them mid-ritual.

→At first he thought it was a weird human thing.

→Then, he realised.

→He was freaking out internally.

→But on the outside.

→He somehow managed to find an anime reference about this and proceeded to tell her how things could go downhill from that.

→They hug it out.

→And then they send the ritual stuff to where they came from.

→He knew something was up when they asked him for books about rituals.

→Straight up asked them about it.

→Although they tried to lie, he saw right through them.

→When they admitted to it, he was kinda pissed off.

→"Did they guilt you into doing this? Because if so, I swear-"

→Once MC reassures him — and bribes him not to kill his brothers — with hugs and kisses, they go back to their normal lives.

→However, Satan does keep tabs on MC for a while as well as his brothers.

→If anyone (maybe aside from Beel) grieves a bit more than needed about Lilith, they're getting hell for jt.

ASMODEUS

→The third most dramatic, surprisingly!

→He found MC mid-ritual which wasn't exactly the best.

→"Honey!"

→He's fallen to the ground, calling their name in order to stop.

→"What is this madness?! Please don't do it!"

→Full-on clutches on MC and squeezes the life outta them.

→"Don't do it ever again, go it?!"

→It takes so much reassuring and so many promises for cuddles and self-care sessions to make him stop freaking out.

→But, in the end, it was so worth it.

BELZEEBUB

→Second most dramatic of all!

→It's a fact that he feels guilty about Lilith, so when he sees MC mid-ritual, his mind just clicks.

→He's the one who was grieving so much about Lilith, the one that talked to MC about his nightmares about that dreaded day and asked for comfort.

→He knew it was because of him.

→"M-MC?"

→Poor Beel was paralyzed with fear :(

→Fear of losing another person dear to him. Because, even though Lilith would return, the cost was too great.

→To lose a loved one to get another back.

→No, he certainly wouldn't deal with it greatly.

→He silently begged for MC to stop, there, frozen still.

→And they did.

→They weren't the ones to judge what would be better for them.

→No matter how much they wanted Beel to see his sister, to reassure him it wasn't his fault, Beel wouldn't let them.

→For the next few weeks, he followed them like a lost puppy, not losing them from his side.

→He wasn't going to go through it again. No, never again.

BELPHEGOR

→And the award for dramatic is... Belphie! (i should stop calling them dramatic and change it to sad-)

→He was napping, you know, hugging his pillow, soft snores coming out of his mouth, when he felt that something was wrong.

→He jolted up and followed that feeling up to MC's room.

→"Huh? What are you.. doing..?"

→His pillow fell on the floor and so did his knees.

→It didn't take long to figure out what they were doing.

→And, no matter how much he wanted to keep his nonchalant persona, he couldn't.

→He was the one who had killed them because of Lilith's death.

→'And this dumbass wants to continue my job,' he thought, lost in his mind.

→"H-Hey, don't do it, please...?"

→He knew MC was heavily impacted by his attempt to murder, but damn.

→MC had to go and comfort him that no one influenced them to do that, that it was their decision.

→He didn't believe it, but it reassured him momentarily.

→He clung onto them and didn't let go for so long.

→He hardly separated from them.

→He couldn't lose another person he cared about.

→Not right when he learnt to actually care again.

my MC is named Mikazuki and she was actually not that far down the line from lilith, she was 4 generations down, that's why she is fairly similar to Lilith!!! However, she doesn't like kids so when she died she didn't continue the bloodline, because she wasn't the only child her siblings were the ones to continue that bloodline rather than her. Here's the things about her death! She like some humans in special cases can be reincarnated into another life form, animals being the most popular option and demons/ angels being the less likely outcome of reincarnation.

Her spirit is special, she reincarnated over and over into different forms over the millennia, she has a spiritual connection to many beings and they all form a part of her soul! Unlike most people who reincarnate she has memory of all her lives, because her soul has transfered bodies so many times she is able to shape shift into

them!!! The animals that are etched into her soul very prominently tho are the wolf/tiger/bear/ eagle so those are her preferred forms! She also has been reincarnated as many genders before so she decided that she's gender fluid and goes by mostly she/her or they/them pronouns! Whichever you prefer to call her is fine (i personally refer to Mikazuki as mostly she/her)

Anyway-one fateful day her soul manifested into a human body, her body was just like the one she had the very first time she was born as a human! Hence why her bloodline was extremely difficult to trace! Because the traces of her ancestry and appearance were only 4 generations from Liliths, this is why in my canon my MC/Mikazuki is always told they seem familiar or they remind the boys of Lilith. Also she hid her backstory from everyone because she wanted to fit the role of normal human exchange student, to bad she couldn't hide it from barb so he knows everything, but she begs him not to tell dia (something he obviously can't promise so they compromise and just don't tell the bros) also this makes the incident with belphie 10 time more awkward 👀

Anyway-

Mikazuki has so much magical power because they have so many lives compacted into one soul! Her magic is also strongly powered and inherited by Liliths so that's why when in the devildom they're always told their hidden power seemed very strong.

And then personality wise Mikazuki is pretty hyper but she's also reserved in a way around strangers. (She has trust issues-) she's very loyal to the people she loves but it takes a LONG time to even be considered a friend, and once you are? She's clingy and loving! She's got a bit of an ego and she'll rub it in your face she's better than you if you challenge her so that's fun. She's also very intelligent, it comes with having lived for such a long time!! Over all Mikazuki is very interesting :3

Also Nekrotefeyo was criminally underused for the legendary Eridian homeworld like I was expecting like a big abandoned city or a completely decimated apocalyptic place, not a dried up ocean bed (Are they maybe more crustaceans instead (?) of bugs???) with like 2 Eridian buildings on it and also Maliwan for... Some... Reason. Seriously. Dark Maliwan was so clearly cut content and I wanna know wtf that was all about. Also we got Promethea so it isn't like they weren't capable of making a big city area, like the restrictions of the engine wouldn't allow it, they just didn't... Feel like it? Maybe didn't have time to flesh it out given how late nekro is in the game? Seriously it feels empty as fuck, I love exploring the planets, but even as a certified lore lover I just can't bring myself to explore that place more than I have to for quests. It's really empty and boring

Also, I am bet that the big glowing thing we see coming out of the planet as it fragments is related either to the Machine and the souls sacrificed to make it work, or the Guardian soul main storage thingie. Mainly because ghosts and such are real in the bl universe and they're all that same glowing green sort of deal. It also reminds me of Krieg's mind planet projection thing which does add credence to that. That is potentially why Minos Prime 'hatched', it could have been a storage place for other, maybe reject(?) Guardian souls and that's where all the Eridian and Guardian stuff randomly came from that Tannis keeps goddamn repeating every time u play the takedown. FE Minos Prime was a testing site for prototype Guardians and the souls (I don't want to call them mind cores because the mind core we got from the Vault of the Destroyer was solid and not green and don't even get me STARTED on that whole situation because there was cut Overseer dialogue from when you take that thing out of the Vault and why WAS it even in the VAULT OF THE DESTROYER and Hhhhh) were stored in Minos Prime until whoops they got out. And I'm guessing they sacrificed the people of Minos Prime to the Machine (we literally left nobody guarding it sooo) bc Tannis says they just vanished without a trace. Which ALSO adds bonus points to my theory that the Eridians aren't dead and are just chilling elsewhere laughing at us right now.

I still think Lilith brought Elpis to the Eridian Rift on the map Typhon and Leda wrote all over and she's vibing there, too. Maybe it's a sort of stasis place where time doesn't pass so the people of Elpis don't die. Idk how Lilith would know about that but then again given the chest in her room I would honestly not bet against my whole 'Lilith had help from the Watcher and/or the Eridians during/before Bl3 and refused to tell us' which is why she just vanishes at the end of the game and takes Elpis with her.

And also why Sanctuary-III randomly exists when we have never heard of the company that made it before (seriously what is supamax mfg), it's somehow in good enough condition that Moxxi and Ellie could fix it up with their scarce resources, and they found it before any other people did (can probably chalk this one up to Tannis if there were cameras or it was hooked up to the ECHOnet of Pandora, but the other two points stand). I would've been okay with it if it were an Atlas ship Rhys sent over or smth, if it were an old Hyperion ship, if the branding of supamax mfg was Moxxi and Ellie's team effort of making a spaceship company in honor of Scooter- literally if any of these things were explained in-game, but they're NOT. So I am left to go 'what the hell where did this come from what is Supamax MFG' and like, a random company we've never heard of existing is totally fine, we're introduced to the Obsidian Black Block and Hephestus United as well, but it just feels weird that this random supply (?) ship just happened to go to Pandora for some reason and then also crash or was abandoned for some reason. If we could just get a scrap of info on Supamax MFG and why this ship was on Pandora I'd be happy. Their branding is Ships Made Quick so clearly they build ships which is fine.

Did Lilith contact them? If so, cool, could we get an ECHO log of that? Where did she get the money after Sanctuary-II blew tf up? Did she or Moxxi or Ellie have connections that allowed them to get the ship made for cheap or free? Why did they decide to make the ship out in the open when they knew about the rising CoV threat?? Was the ship stolen? Did the Crimson Raiders just kill a bunch of people to get their hands on it? I doubt it, but this shit isn't explained! So yeah when I write theories like 'Hm well maybe this ship was planted here by the Watcher' its not because I'm driven insane by the Eridians it is because we literally have no other reason to go 'maybe not' and with what little information we do get during the game, it could be fuckin possible!!!

Lilith apparently knew more than she was letting on, she was contacted personally by the Watcher during the end of TPS (brick specially had to ASK what the Watcher said to Lilith), so yeah fuck it the ship and everything that wasn't explicitly explained was given to Lilith by the Watcher to help her in her quest for whatever the Big One is in bl4. Bc you KNOW that Bl3 was just the lead up to get the Destroyer to slip out of its chains thru Tyreen's meddling (literally in nyriads log right before the final boss and its not like ty absorbed an entire planet sized monster and was the size of, like, a shortish tree so you know the Destroyer is still in there as it's further confirmed by Scourge when he says shit like you don't even know what you just did blah blah shut up loser- the only thing pointing to the Destroyer ACTUALLY being dead is that the Vault (????) of the Destroyer (???????????????) opened after Tyreen died but then we can make the Vault of the Architects argument that maybe it considered her part of the Destroyer and her dying confused the Vault into opened, iunno. I don't even know why that Vault was there in the first place wtf was its purpose I thought the Vault of the Destroyer was either the other Pandora one (emergency human feeding port to a monster that doesn't need sustenance) or literally Pandora itself in which case killing Tyreen should have destroyed the whole planet by opening it soooooo I guess that Vault exists to circumvent that extremely specific problem only the Eridians would have guessed could happen idk) and to set the Guardians up as villains cuz fuck them that's why (>:( please gearbox don't, make the Eridians the bad guys if someone has to be evil pretty please the Guardians aren't the bad guys they are literally gaining sentience right now give them a chance they gotta figure themselves out and the Eridians fit the whole 'corporations exploiting their workers' vibe with the Guardians being forced to work even after the Eridians are gone so don't let those parallels slip away with shortsighted storytelling) but then it hurts even worse cuz the story could've been so much simpler and just... Sweeter and better than what we got if that's all they had to do was set those two things up. Bro I hate how every time I go to ask questions abt the game it leads me back here. Because it's true!! And it hurts I just wanna sit down with the lore manager of the game and ask them all these questions because I'm genuinely curious, but I'm afraid of the answers or non-answers I'll get. Again, I get the whole 'things have to happen for plot, not everything should be questioned, give the writers some slack to write a story' argument but when EVERYTHING falls under that category and the story didn't even end up being that great, it gets really frustrating because HONESTLY? if we had gotten good lore and explanations to things and actual world building and details and all that? I wouldn't have minded the main story so much. But unfortunately we got neither good lore (I wanna tell Nyriad she was lied to very badly because it's either the Eridians are evil and liars about a lot, or nobody thought twice the implications of giving the Destroyer a feeding port that explicitly calls humans to it) nor good main story (you know.) and it just. Is annoying. That's all.

Dance in the pale moonlight chapter 4

  "Yo, Crystal witches! You here?" Steven called as he walked into the beach home. A little more anxious than his usual cool self.

"Anyone home? Amy? Beaks? Seer?" 

Steven groaned as he received no answer. "A waste of time." 

The teenage demon sat upon the couch of the beach home. Looking up at the familiar ceiling as the thoughts of four days ago ran though his mind.

Since the death of the demon in the city, Steven has not been able truly shake the feelings he uncovered from the body. The emotions and the familiarity still unnerved him. He just couldn't let it go, no matter what distraction he tried to employ. Worse yet, it started to have an effect on his relationship with his lady, though he couldn’t see it.

“Can’t she see I'm trying to protect her. “ He groaned as memories of this morning ran through his mind.

*earlier*

“I must assist that you abstain from traveling to the city for the time being.”

“What?”Connie paused her eating of breakfast, turning her sight towards her familiar.

Steven looked back at her from over his right shoulder, scrambling the egg in a black skillet “You should stay away from the city.”

“I work in the city, Steven. Can’t really make money for our upkeep staying home.”

“We have enough for you to stay home a few months.” He poured the eggs onto a red ceramic. “Besides, your ‘day job’ isn’t your real job.”

“I like my day job, it allows me to interact with people and get gossip for our true job.” The witch retorted as she watched the demon sit across from her. Her black eyes narrowing behind her glasses.

“Be that as it may, you are to stay away from the city for the time being.” Steven responded coolly. “Also hunts are suspended for you as well.”

Connie blinked twice as her brows furrowed in anger. “Wow, heh...You’re funny this morning.” She smirked trying to keep her annoyance down.

“I’m not joking.”

“In that case....” Connie sat up straight, crossing her arms, drumming her left index finger against her right bicep. “Who are you to tell me what I can do or where I can go?”

“Your partner and familiar.”

Steven sighed, scratching the back of his head. “I don’t mean any disrespect, My lady.”

“Yet..I’m feeling a bit insulted.”

Steven's face scrunched up in irritation at the sardonic tone. “It’s for your own good.”

“For my own good? Really and how is this for my own good?”

“I’m trying to protect you.”

“Trying to protect…”Connie paused for a moment as her eyes relaxed a moment “ Steven? This is still about what happened a few days ago?”

Steven said nothing, turning his head to the food on his plate. 

“I can’t halt my life because of a ‘what if’?”

“I’m not asking you to halt your life.”

“No, you’re telling me to and that’s not going to happen.”

“My lady” Steven held out a hand for her to grasp. “Please try to understand, the last thing I want is for you to be put in unneeded danger.”

She glanced at the hand with a slight scowl. “I do believe that…” She pushed his hand closed. “ That doesn't mean I’ll accept being held as a prisoner.”

He growled  “I’m not!”

“You are.”

“Connie.”

“Rather it’s your attention or not, you are.”

“It’s dangerous for you in the city at the moment.”

“And what proof do you have of that?” Conne nostrils flared. “ We haven't heard anything from the witches.”

“I plan on visiting them today about that.” He retorted.

“You do that. It would do you some good.”  

“You will remain here.” He ordered.

“I will be heading to work!” Connie sneered as she stood up leering at him.

"Connie, stop being difficult!"  Steven stood to meet her.

" You're the one who's making this harder than it needs to be."

"Why can't you see that I'm trying to watch out for you!"

"Then watch out for me!" She looked down at the table, the creases of her fingers, scraping at the marble furniture. "Don't force imprisonment on me." 

"Please My Lady, think about how I feel. I do this to make sure you're secure." The demon laid a palm on his mistress's knuckle. "I couldn't stand it if something happened to you."

" Isn't danger a part of our lives? Don't we risk our lives every time we go out to hunt?" She shot him a pointed look. "What's different this time?"

"The possibility that someone is directly targeting you for their twisted wants." Steven snarled in anger. "I refuse to give them the chance...I refuse to throw you into such danger!"

"Do you think I'm incapable of protecting myself? Am I that weak to you?" Her voice was low and a fiery stubbornness roared in her eyes. 

Steven shook his head instantly. " No no! It's not that!" He grimaced at the thought of his lady thinking he doubted her. "I know you're quite talented...Fledgling witch as you are."

His attempt at a compliment didn't go unnoticed, but didn't ease her ire either. 

"This isn't about you protecting yourself."  He spoke gently and truthfully as he held her hands, massaging the back of them with his thumb. "This is about you being protected, period." 

She sighed downtrodden. Her eyes relaxed a bit as the anger faded and slight appreciation. "I understand."

Steven smiled in victory. "Please, My Lady this is-"

"I understand your feelings, but I refuse to accept and follow your judgement." 

Steven froze at her determined voice. Looking at her eyes he saw he couldn't  change her mind.

"Why are you so damn bull-headed?" Steven scratched the back of his head, letting go of her hand.

"Steven.."

"Why can't you trust me?!" He walked over to the sink grabbing the edge of it.

"Steven, of course I trust you."

He could hear the heartbreak in her voice.

Steven looked over his shoulder with a glare. "Funny way of showing it, partner."  He  turned to face her, fist clench. "I told you what I felt from that corpse, the emotions left behind.". He walked over towards her. “Do you know how terrifying it is for me, that someone who would do that? With those attentions, those emotions. The simple possibility that it could be towards you.” He stopped before her, a few centimeters away from her.” It’s heart-wrenching.” 

Connie looked up at him, those sad and scared eyes of his perring down at her. She grabbed his cheeks gently. “Steven, you can’t halt my life for a possibility, you know that.” 

“I’m not..I’m just being cautious...Protective.” He held her hands tenderly almost afraid to break her. 

“I know but, If THIS is your way of protecting me, then I don't need it."

“My lady?”

She tipped-toed, kissing his forehead, before looking into his eyes sadly. “You’ve always protected…” She shook her head. “We’ve always protected each other without smothering each other...Without taking away from each other...Why should that change? I trust you to keep me safe, have my back..be there when I call.” She gave him a gentle smile. “Trust that I’m capable enough that I won’t have to.. ”

“I want you to though.” He pouted just a bit.

“It is a nice feeling when you come to my rescue, admittedly..”She arched an eyebrow, patting his cheek. “But hopefully I won’t need saving today.”

He groaned as she let his face go and backed away.

“Hey, you don’t want me to get in trouble now? She teased

“Of course not!” Steven gulped as a flush came to his face. “Just..Can’t help but worry.”

“My diligent protector.”She spoke adoringly. “Come have lunch with me today, after you talk with the witches. It’ll be your choice and on me.”

“Oh..So no Panda Express?” He folded his arms with a smirk.

“If that's what you want, then yes.” She turned her back to him. “Besides, It’ll ease your nerves seeing me safe.”

“Maybe a little bit. Won’t be truly comfortable til all this is settled and done with.”

“Yeah.” She gave him a reassuring grin. “ I gotta get ready for work.”

“Or you can stay here… Under my protection... In your pajamas”

The pajamas in question was a long button up shirt that reached her knees over some night shorts. She could feel the flirtyteaseing in his tone and it made it nearly impossible for her to fight the grin on her face. 

"You wish.” She walked out of the kitchen with a wave, "Besides that what Sundays are for." hiding her blushing face. Unaware of the uncertain look on his face.

“I hope she’s safe.” He stated as he gazed up to the ceiling.

“Big Bro!”

He turned to the front door to see Amethyst running towards him. He chuckled when she leapt up onto his lap tackling him a hug.

“Hey Amy.” He sat up with her returning the hug.

“Oh...Didn’t know we’d have a visitor.”

“I did.”

Steven turned his head to see two older figures walk in holding groceries . One was a lilith woman with peach hair, a long pointed nose, clear blue eyes and skin as white as the pearl adorned on her forehead. 

Beside her was a taller, curvier, voluptuous woman. She had dark skin the color of garnet, full lips, a large cube afro and triangular glasses.

Them two, along with Amethyst were the crystal witches

“It’s good to see you Steven.” The garnet skinned woman spoke in a deep british accent giving him an affectionate smile. “Not very often you visit without Connie.”

“Yeah I guess so, Garnet.” He gave the woman a smile.

“Is everything ok? You’re not giving her trouble are you?” The lilith woman spoke accusingly.

“We’re fine. Completely in bliss, Pearl.” Steven sneered at the lilith witch. “What about you, Beaks. Pecked any good holes lately? “ He smirked as she frowned.

“Still an unruly demon, I see.“

“Just for those who deserve it” 

“Maybe, you need to be disciplined then.” She stepped forward conjuring a small white flame in her hand.

Seven sat Amy next to him as he cracked his right hand, growling defensively. 

“That’s enough, you two.” Garnet announced as Amy ran to her leg before lifting up the small demoness. “This isn’t the time for your rivalry.”

“Hmm, fine.” Pearl relented, killing the flame. Her snooty demeanor rubbed Steven the wrong way. “It’s best to return Connie her toy, undamaged, anyway.”

“Goddamn mother hen from hell!” He roared in annoyance, getting a  smirk from the lilith demon.

“They never get along without Sis refereeing” Amethyst sighed. Garnet only nodded with a grimace.

“Pearl please put the groceries away, Amethyst will help” Garnet stated as she placed the  frowning purple demoness down to the floor 

“What?”

“I need to talk to Steven about something he asked. You can play with him after we're done.” .

“Go ahead Amy,” he rubbed his little sister's head affectionately. "help Beaks out, and we can visit Connie for lunch later.”

Amy's eyes widened in excitement before she ran to Pearl’s side. 

Garnet nodded towards the temple door, a  purplish-blue door with a start in the center adorned with five different gems on it’s point The sapphire and ruby gem glowed before the door opened revealing a reddish workshop. “Let’s talk in private,”

While Steven was visiting the Crystal Witches, Connie was manning the receptionist desk at the Delmarva library. She was leaning back into her chair, a book of spells in her hand. The public place was desolate, only two other patrons were in the library…

Somewhere. 

It was quite easy to get lost in the five storey building. Her mind was not on that though.It was on the morning she had with Steven.

'My stars. Can't believe he thought It waa a liable idea to keep me under house arrest like some damsel in a fairytale. He knows better.' She frowned a bit before chuckling. 'Though, there's a sweetness to his protectiveness."'She grinned. 

'What would I do anyway after the first few days becoming a hermit..Besides leaving without his knowledge? Create a spell that turns me to a demon, just to break the boredom. Laze on the couch after reading every book in the house, drown his flowers trying to water them...Burn down the kitchen trying to cook him a meal after a long day.' She shook her head. 

"He'd reprimand me to hell, while saying I look cute with soot on my cheek, all before happily eating the burnt meal." She felt a warm heat in her cheeks.

Description:

Lili has a lot of pent up anger and a quick temper. She’s angry at her family, at authority, at the world. She’s not good at processing this anger and thus tends to lash out at people very often and often very cruelly and violently. She knows this and tries to keep in check but isn’t very good at doing so even as she ages. Because of her anger, she also tends to keep grudges for quite a while, even for stupid or petty reasons and is slow to admit she’s wrong.

In a better world, she would be known for her friendliness. Lili can be very friendly and relaxed. She talks first and makes a judgement second, trying to be as open minded as possible. She’s very casual yet polite and likes people being the same back to her.

Flitwick She thinks Flitwick is great. There’s not much more to say. He’s responsible but not smothering, and still thinks well of her brother. If she ever had to pick an adult to trust, it would be Flitwick.

Kettleburn She had taken Care of Magical Creatures because Rowan had wanted a third elective and Lili didn’t want to take Muggle Studies or Divination. However, she ended up loving the class and thinks Kettleburn is hilarious. She honestly wished she could take the class NEWT level, but her schedule was already full.

Least Favorite Professors:

Snape She has a very complicated relationship with Snape. He hates her because of her brother (who he did not get along with), because she reminds him of James Potter, and because her nickname, Lili, reminds him of his lost love Lily Evans every time he hears it. Lili, of course, does not know any of this and thinks he just hates her for no reason. Jacob thought he was a Death Eater (he got that from whispers older kids who Jacob knew were definitely Death Eaters), so Lili uses that as justification to not like him.

Rakepick She never trusted her and barely liked her, even before she became a professor. Her opinion didn’t go improve any time in fifth year.

Carina was never very good with either of her children, and in particular could never get along with Jacob, resorting to abuse (emotional and physical) to try to get him to behave how she wanted. Despite this, she totally shut down when Jacob disappeared, feeling like a failure. This led to her severely neglecting her daughter to wallow in her own misery day and night. It also led to an irrational hatred of Hogwarts. She refuses to read any letters sent by them and has made several subtle attempts to make Lili miss the Hogwarts Express.

Caroline is the opposite of her much older sister and was surprised to find herself in Gryffindor (Sorted there in Lili’s 3rd year). She’s timid and quiet, but with a backbone hidden underneath. She wilts at any negative tones, but is always ready to extend a hand to anyone who has hurt her, even multiple times.

Best Friends:

Rowan Khanna Her best friend!! She originally befriended Rowan because Rowan reminded her of her muggle friend, but it soon blossomed into a different, much closer relationship. Whenever Rowan is gone, Lili doesn’t really know what to do (”I’m going to cut all the sleeves off my robes.” “Why??” “Rowan left an hour ago and she’s like 85% of my impulse control.”) and Lili would never have made it through any of the Cursed Vaults without her. She probably also would have gotten expelled for brawling and dueling in like second year without Rowan. I’m not joking about that impulse control thing.

Barnaby Lee Lili didn’t like Barnaby at first. Even before he worked for Merula, she thought he was nothing more than a stupid jock and made fun of how Snape would pick on him in Potions. Then she actually talked to him and did a complete 180. “I’ve only known Barnaby for an hour, but if anything happened to him, I would kill everyone in this room and them myself.” She liked how sweet and genuine he was despite his awful upbringing. He’s always there to support her, and she’s really grown to love him for that. He once thought he had a crush on her, but it wasn’t really romantic (”The feeling was friendship but he had never experienced it before.”).

Good Friends:

Bill Weasley He’s like the big brother Jacob should’ve been. She was not thrilled to have a complete stranger helping with the Vaults, but in hindsight she’s so very glad she listened to Rowan. Lili isn’t sure she could have gotten half of what she’s done done without Bill’s help and steadfastness.

Charlie Weasley Their friendship kind of crept up on Lili. Charlie was closer friends with Ben and Barnaby, so while Lili had a passing familiarity with him before the Forest Vault, she wouldn’t have called them friends. She was surprised when she turned out to really enjoy his company when he started helping with the Cursed Vaults.

Chiara Lobosca Chiara was someone Lili tangentially knew due to people confusing them for each other (the hair color; once Chiara hits a growth spurt and Lili doesn’t people stop). Then Lili is forced to partner with Chiara in Herbology in 3rd year, and besides seeing her Herbology grade go up the slightest bit, she finds a friend in Chiara, appreciating the girl’s seemingly infinite kindness.

Friends:

Nymphadora Tonks They get along in classes, but Lili doesn’t trust Tonks with anything serious.

Liz Tuttle The two have many overlapping friends but don’t really hang out with each other.

Badeea Ali She really respects Badeea, but they just don’t have many reasons to be around each other.

Jae Kim Lili thinks he’s hilarious and very smart, but doesn’t trust him as far as she could throw him.

Ben Copper Probably the most complicated relationship here. She befriended him out of pity and continued their friendship because of his skill at Charms. He’s had a crush on her since they were 11 when she stood up for him which no one had ever done before. Then the Red Robed Wizard Reveal tm happened and Lili dropped him and ignored him, though he tried to make it up to her. 6th year only drives a deeper wedge between them as Lili can’t stand his recent behaviour. Ben finally confessing about his love for Lili in 6th year didn’t help mend anything either.

Tulip Karasu After finding out that Tulip had purposefully not told her about Jacob’s room, Lili instantly decided she was an undesirable but necessary ally. Lili does not like Tulip for most of their time at Hogwarts as she’s really pissed that someone would keep her brother’s things from her. Lili will talk to her about the Cursed Vaults, but they do not hang out and Lili does not consider her a friend. This really, really hurts Tulip’s feelings but Lili doesn’t really care. The relationship does get a bit better in 6th year, but it’s never going to be a close one. In a better world without the Vaults, they’d probably get along smashingly as while Lili isn’t a prankster, she has no problem egging them on.

Love Interests:

Penny Haywood Her first, longest, and most confusing crush. She was wary of Penny at first. Popular girls were rarely that 100% nice, but Penny truly was. She also had a nice smile and pretty hair and soft hands…. It took Lili quite a while (like four years and Bill telling her) to figure out it was a crush and then….she did absolutely nothing. She panicked and stopped talking to Penny for a while before sheepishly apologizing when Penny confronted her. They went to the Celestial Ball together, but “as friends.” That did not stop them from having a Moment that Lili interpreted completely wrongly and she assumed Penny didn’t like her romantically. Penny in fact did, and since Lili never reacted to their Moment in the proper way, Penny assumed that Lili wasn’t interested. The two continued having crushes on each other for the rest of their time at Hogwarts and remained close friends after they both graduated.

Talbott Winger Her second, less confusing, crush. Similar to Barnaby, Lili didn’t think much of Talbott at first. He was that one kid who was talented at Transfiguration and she once saw him chatting casually to an owl in the Owlery. He was weird and she ignored him. Then she was paired with him on a class assignment in 3rd year and a friendship bloomed despite Talbott’s protests. It was a casual thing at first, but then Lili helped Talbott find his mom’s necklace, and their talk under the stars about family and the past and future deepened their friendship. Having already figured out she had a crush on Penny by this time, she managed to get the signs that she now also had a crush on Talbott, which made her panic, again. However, since Talbott is even worse with emotions than her, she didn’t do anything drastic like she did with Penny. They went on one date in 6th year but that was going too fast for Talbott and they decided to stay friends until Talbott felt more comfortable being around people. Lili took this….mostly gracefully.

Diego Caplan The two met in the Dueling Club in 4th year. Diego was impressed with Lili’s skill and tried to befriend her and also maybe flirt with her a bit. Lili, who tends to gravitate towards people who are unashamedly themselves, found his over the top flirting hilarious and was instantly endeared to Diego. She really enjoyed being around him, finding his lightheartedness helped her forget some of her troubles with the Cursed Vaults, especially in 5th year. He asked her out on a date, her first one, and she agreed. She enjoyed the date, but 5th year was the peak of her obsession with the Cursed Vaults so she broke it off. They later dated again during 6th year, after Lili’s one date with Talbott.

While they’ll never be friends, by the time of 5th and 6th year they’ve become reluctant allies similar to Lili and Tulip above. Lili will probably never totally befriend her, but she’s learned to be civil and that’s progress.

Ismelda Murk Lili doesn’t really like Ismelda but she considers her all bark and no bite. Ismelda hates Lili because she thinks Lili and Barnaby are gonna end up dating and is jealous.

Most of Slytherin House Lili has never been shy about being half Muggle and being proud of it, and in a house that still worships Voldemort, that sets her apart. The few that don’t find her being pro-Muggle distasteful don’t want to be exiles in their own dorms and avoid talking to her.

Story

Childhood:

Lili’s childhood was never that great. Her parents fought frequently over her and Jacob’s use of accidental magic, and this eventually caused them to divorce when Lili was 9. Her mother in particular was emotionally and physically abusive but Jacob spared her from the worst of it.

Jacob was always the best part of her childhood. She loved her parents, but Jacob was the person she always looked forward to seeing. When he went to Hogwarts, she was upset for weeks, and when he went missing, she was devastated (especially as he went missing the night of her birthday).

Her mother didn’t take it well. Carina was not particularly close with Jacob, but this obviously big failure of her as a parent hit her hard. She became very emotionally withdrawn from Lili and threw herself into her photography work, leaving the country, and Lili, for weeks at a time.

Lili had to become very independent very quickly after that. That, plus the fact that she didn’t have any non-Muggle friends meant she trusted very few people and lied often. Getting her Hogwarts letter was a relief and a promise of freedom

Adulthood:

Lili is very distraught after graduation and leaves everyone she knows behind to travel Europe and find herself. She spends several years doing this, helping people and doing odd jobs.

Eventually, she finds that she has a talent for languages, picking up a few easily in her travels, and starts to consider possibly doing something related to language whenever she goes back to Britain.

She can knit, crochet and sew. She likes making little crochet animals and giving them to friends (or just keeping them and having a plushy empire around her bed).

Loves having her photo taken and has a whole collection of photos, but hates taking photos. It reminds her of her mother.

One of her Muggle friends got her into fencing. She thought it would be useful to hone her athletic skills with, so she continued doing it when she went back to Hogwarts in the fall.

Chapter 1: Crashing Reality Part 2

Awaking with a start, Zera covered her mouth to muffle her scream. Then she took a moment to try to calm herself, successfully doing so. Realizing she had been crying, Zera wiped her eyes with shaky hands. Her mind was foggy, disoriented, Zera looked from herself to her surroundings to find that she was in the same clothes from classes today and in confusion she looked around to see where she was.

Zera was in her room, she took a pained deep breath, her lungs feeling like they were on fire. Slowly regaining her composure, she took in the comfort of being in her own home. The white walls of her room reflected the sunset shining in through her large windows, her silver sheets slightly messy from her tossing and turning. She tried to think back to her nightmare but could not recall it for the life of her. The only thing that came to mind was amber eyes.

Shaking her head, she focused on her surroundings. Zera sensed her best friend's presence as well as Elijah's. However, she noticed there was someone else in the house, Zera dragged herself out of bed, smoothing out her school uniform. She then walked to the stairs; halfway down she could hear Azazel blowing up on, Zera assumed, his younger brother.

"You irresponsible, annoying little pest!" Azazel screeched at Seth, Zera quietly walked down the stairs, stopping at the door frame of the room. Carefully she peaked in, the supposed adults too busy arguing to notice her snooping. Just as Zera peered in, Azazel had punched Seth square in the jaw, throwing the younger on the floor who then spit out blood.

"Are you done?" Seth hissed angrily, eyes flashing crimson.

Azazel growled and pulled on his jacket to smooth it out, "Now. I am done." His lavender eyes were once again that ice cold blue.

"Good." Seth stood as he wiped the blood from his mouth, "She has a right to know, she isn't a child anymore Azazel." Seth then picked himself up, only a couple inches shorter than his older brother.

"She is my daughter and I will decide when and if she needs to know anything about those-those-" Azazel growled and took a deep breath. "Seth, I am trying very hard to keep my calm."

"She is my niece, and she wants to know everything you are hiding from her. I see it every day, she's constantly distracted, and I've been watching how she behaves towards others."

"Yes, I can see how she speaks to Elijah. We are working on that, but she is none of your concern."

Family is my concern Azazel, you can't keep shutting me out." Seth pleaded, "I just want her to know who she is, where she comes from! She deserves to know!"

"You're playing the same tune Seth, it's getting old. You don't care, you only care about yourself, not the well-being of others. Even if you did, you are only her uncle, I am her father. Her welfare is my responsibility not yours." After this, Azazel began to speak in a foreign tongue, one Zera did not recognize.

They continued to argue in this strange language she had never heard before, and Zera let it continue for a good several minutes before she had enough. Zera walked in and stayed in the doorway, "Father, Seth."

"Zera, you should not be up and about, you need to rest." Azazel huffed as he walked to his daughter who did not budge from the doorway.

"I feel fine, what language was that you were speaking in?" She crossed her arms over her chest, leaning on the door frame.

"Don't fret," Azazel began, but Seth continued.

"Your family's native tongue, the language of angels, it is called Veraiyaka."

She stared blankly at the two, "Why do you know it? You were born a demon, weren't you?" Zera directly asked Seth who merely chuckled.

"I was, but the demon's language wasn't used in heaven. I only ever knew my father's language, I never truly knew my mother's heritage." Seth explained patiently, a hint of delight in his eyes.

Zera nodded slightly, "So they tried to erase your heritage?"

Azazel snickered and hid his mouth with his hand while Seth stayed quiet, a frown growing on his face. He stuttered before clearing his throat to answer, "N-no, no they didn't. Father just..." Seth's voice trailed off, uncertainty in his eyes as the gears seemed to turn in his mind.

"Father just what little brother?" Azazel pressed, smirking deviously. "Why was it that you only knew Veraiyaka? Why you never met Lilith? Why was I the one who had to teach you Raiwadahkre? Or even how to tame your hunger?"

Seth visibly tensed up, "Father was always busy Azazel, you know this. Besides, none of them were familiar with the demons' culture."

"You have always made excuses for him, for the love of- just open your damn eyes Seth!" Azazel snapped, throwing his hands in the air, exasperated.

The green-eyed male began to tear up, clearly trying to calm himself. Zera found the whole interaction between the brothers' confusion and irritating. Azazel wasn't letting up on his little brother, and Seth was just an emotional wreck waiting to explode. She wasn't sure how to keep his walls from crumbling and didn't know how to diffuse the situation. Zera was more comfortable escalating but didn't want to deal with the consequences of doing so.

"Azazel..." Seth's voice was soft and wavered a touch, "Brother, why do you do this? I just want us all together. To put the past behind and start fresh... What is so wrong about doing that"

Azazel's face was void of expression as he spoke in a calm and even tone, "My wife is dead." His eyes turning from lavender to ice cold blue, at this Seth had frozen up. "Mrai sharaiz pehtekwarya Seth."

"May I remind you both that I do not speak that gibberish." Zera chimed in, tapping her foot on the ground impatiently.

Seth cleared his throat, looking from Zera to Azazel, "Should I translate or you?"

Azazel hissed at Seth, "I merely told him I protect my own."

"How truthful was he being there?" Zera asked her uncle who seemed pleased by his answer.

"For the most part, accurate translation."

Zera watched them for a long while before she was satisfied, "Fine, now why don't we keep to English? I'd prefer you to be straightforward. If you hide things from me, I promise I will find out the truth."

"There is nothing to discuss Zera." Azazel shook his head, his lavender eyes showing now tired he was. It was a strange sight for Zera, seeing her father this vulnerable. "Seth was just on his way out, right little brother?"

Seth stared at Azazel for a long while, when Zera was about to say something he spoke up, "No. I'm not leaving, I want to talk, I want to just work things out."

The older male glared, "I'm not talking anymore." With that in Azazel's place was Elijah.

Elijah took his jacket off and set it down on the couch, glaring at his alter's brother. "Seth."

"Bro-"

"I. Am not your brother Seth, Azazel is. Not me." He pointed a finger at Seth, "Now, Azazel does not want you here. Zera is not ready to hear whatever it is you have to say, respect her father's wishes."

"I don't believe you are the one to determine that Elijah." Zera hissed at her guardian, who took a step back. "Not you and not Father. The both of you are withholding information from me, cheating me out of my humanity."

Elijah tensed, Seth stared at them in disbelief, "I'm sorry, they what?"

"I made a deal with Father and Elijah to help me get revenge on my adoptive father and figure out my origins." Zera explained, her eyes never leaving Elijah. "Supposedly, the contract was completed long ago. However, with everything you've informed me with now it appears that I have been deceived. Although, what should I have expected from a pair of demons?"

"So Azazel and Elijah..." He turned to the white-haired male. "You two took her humanity?" Seth's shoulders slumped, "What the fuck were you thinking?"

"I don't believe that is your place." Elijah huffed, visibly uneasy.

"I'm really wondering what kind of parenting you are doing, I can not believe you!" Seth screeched, he looked at Zera, then back at Elijah. "What would Marnie think of this?"

"She doesn't agree either, but it's all done. Nothing changes what has passed. However, we can attempt to amend those mistakes by telling me the information that I am due." Zera snarled at Elijah.

"Okay we need a breather, need to take a break." Seth stood between the two, he looked at Elijah. "You and Azazel need to stop and look at this whole mess." He then looked at Zera, "You need to think about the way you go about things."

"We are done here, really. Seth. Leave." Elijah demanded, for the first time, Elijah seemed visibly shaken.

"I'll leave, as soon as you two take some time to cool down. Elijah you have to see that this is not healthy and not good for any of you." Seth put a hand on Elijah's shoulder, Zera watched as for the first time Elijah looked completely helpless. It was an unnerving sight, one she did not like. "Elijah really look at this, look where you guys are. Marnie never wanted this, she never wanted you and Azazel to do all this."

Elijah glared, "Don't. Don't use her name. Do not dare. You have no right to use her name."

"Elijah, you're overreacting, Mother is dead, she has been for over a hundred years. It is long past time to move on." Zera huffed loudly, "Mother, I'm sure, is turning over in her grave listening to you both."

"Young lady, watch your tone." Elijah was shaking.

"She was human, humans die. They live short lives, she was going to die no matter what." Zera snapped, "Why are you lashing out at him for talking about her?"

"She is dead because of them!" Elijah began to raise his voice, then covered his mouth.

"What do you mean?" Zera eyed him closely, growling. "John told me she died from giving birth to me, if there is anyone you should blame for her death it is me. Just as John did. Unless there is something you are not telling me."

Seth was at a loss for words, before he could say anything Elijah spat in Raiwadahkre, "Karwajeh chesah ena, tahkreth chesah cha."

"Rai jehkar Elijah." Seth sneered, causing Zera to almost explode.

"What is he lying about then? How did she die?" She screamed at them.

Elijah shook his head, "No." He stood his ground, though Zera could see just one push and he could topple, "Seth...I am begging you..." His eyes watered even as he tried to keep his expression firm, "I am begging you to leave."

There was a long pause between the three parties, a long time passed before Seth broke the silence. "Fine, I'll go. I'll leave for now, but I will not give up on this family." He turned and faced Zera, "I'll see you in school, and I do expect you to do the homework, no excuses."

Before Zera could respond, Seth vanished and she groaned loudly, "I hate

"Elijah, for the time being, I want nothing to do with you or with Father." She then turned and walked off, leaving Elijah in stunned silence.

Zera made her way over to the backyard, closing the door behind her. She took a deep breath and sat down on the stone steps.

Birds sang in the trees at the edge of the yard, the breeze was light and warm. Sun beamed down on Zera's pale skin and she closed her eyes, taking in the surroundings. With each deep breath, Zera could feel the overwhelming negative emotions slowly subside. The peace did not last long, her thoughts found their way back to Elijah and her father's betrayal. Growling, shadows began to surround her, and a familiar voice chimed in her ear, "Child, if you dwell on this, you'll give them power. Clear you mind in order to keep your eye on the prize."

Looking around, Zera did not see who the voice belonged to, "Who was that?"

"I'm hurt, you've forgotten me already? When you come to me for assistance in finding the truth behind your father's web of lies?" Listening to the disembodied voice, Zera felt a sense of relief overcome.

It seemed like a light bulb went off in Zera, "Luz."

"Correct." He cooed, and it felt like he was practically breathing against her ear, "You did so well with your father and your uncle."

"It wasn't enough." She grumbled, crossing her arms over her chest, angrily glaring at the grass. The shadows once surrounding her began to recede back into her being and appeared to vanish from sight.

"Give yourself a little more credit, you gained quite a bit of information. Now you need to pull back just a touch, if you dig too deep too fast, then you will set yourself back ten steps." The voice acknowledged and reassured her, Zera let out an irritated sigh. "I understand how difficult it is to be patient, but you must wait. Bide your time then you can get a bigger payout little one."

Zera thought it over for a long moment, "Fine. What plan do you have Luz?"

"The goal is to get you the history that you have been denied, to retrieve the full story we must find Madeline. In order to find Madeline, we must get you into Heaven's record room. That may have hints towards her last known location, considering they do so love to keep tabs on everyone. Only one slight problem."

She sighed, "And pray tell what that problem might be?"

"We need to get you past Archangel Metatron, the scribe of Heaven. He will be guarding it closely; however, if we get past him, we can find the key to answering your mysterious family history."

Zera mulled this information over for a long while before nodding slowly, she had already killed an angel, how much more difficult would an archangel be? "Very well, how do we get into Heaven?"

Growing up, money was tight for the Allens. Three mouths to feed and the inflated rent that came with living in the rocky mountains meant the family often went without anything but the bare necessities. For Darcy, it also meant hitting the church donation bin a lot and wearing her older brother’s hand me downs, but Darce never seemed to mind as much as the other kids did. Old band shirts and baggy pants were cool and as much as she would have liked a GameBoy, nothing beat spending hours in the park working on her softball pitch or the endless supply of books a library card provided.

Yeah, she’d probably always be a little bitter her dad left her mom with so much slack to pick up but the lessons about hard work, the value of money, and how women really could do anything would stick with her for the rest of her life. Honestly, her mom was (and still is) a total badass.

It wasn’t until school started that Darcy started to feel different. Not because of the clothes or the knock off fruit snacks, but because when the other girls in her class were fawning over boys she was busy fawning over them. She’d always known she was gay, she figured, she just didn’t have a word for it. And she wouldn’t for a while, but later in life, it would explain the withering glares and threats of violence she gave every boy who hurt one of her girl friends.

When she wasn’t busy perusing the featured titles in the kid’s section of her local library, stealing cd’s from her older brother’s vintage rock collection or re-reading the Harry Potter series, Darcy could be found outside playing a pickup version of whatever sport was in season. Signing up for an organized sport may not have been in the budget, but that never stopped Darcy from practicing it, and it was that dedication that would earn her a spot on her high school softball and soccer teams.

Being part of a team felt awesome and while she’d never particularly enjoyed the more competitive side of sports (going professional was never the goal but a scholarship would be nice) she couldn’t deny that winning felt pretty good. It was during one of those winning streaks her junior year of high school that Darcy injured her shoulder and found herself in physical therapy. It sucked at first, the exercises were hard and painful and the whole thing felt hopeless, but as she continued to go she saw improvements. Not just in herself, but the other patients she’d gotten to know as well and she thought maybe it was something she’d be good at.

Darcy got her first taste of big city living when she attended the University of Alberta where she completed both a bachelor of science and her masters of science in physical therapy. University also marked Darcy’s first experience with love, and oh was it a good one. She dated a lot during her undergrad, a series of relationships, none of which had much depth or lasted very long, and it wasn’t until she met Hannah at a pride event the summer before she started her master’s degree that she got a real taste of that kind of love that everyone brags about in rom coms.

They dated for three years and it was the best ever until a job offer in NYC threatened to tear them apart. They both agreed Hannah should take it, but couldn’t agree on the status of their relationship. Darce was adamant they could make long distance work and Hannah felt like they should end things before the distance ended it for them. In the end, they settled on a compromise that didn’t really work for either of them — Darce would move to NYC with her. She took her license exam and followed her out east.

The couple stayed together for six months but ultimately ended things when they couldn’t agree on their future (Darce wanted to take the next step and Hannah wanted to see what else was out there before she settled). Darce was devastated and kept to herself for a bit but the two are still on friendly terms.

Single and heartbroken in a city that no longer felt like home, Darcy found herself at a crossroads – she could go back to Canmore and her family with her tail between her legs and start over or she could pick herself up and stay in New York at the job she loved and make the city feel like home. Never one to step down from a challenge, Darcy decided to try to make it work, and thanks to Acup she doesn’t have to try too hard.

APRIL’S SHOWERS: Defender. Darcy was in a real low point in her life when she first started hanging around Acup. So, when she’d found the glittery advert pinned to the bulletin board announcing a tryout for a soccer team? She sort of took it as a sign. She’s made a lot of friends at Acup over the last few years, but her fellow Showers are family.

FIONA HUDSON: Her best bro. The moment these two met Darce knew they were going to be friends for life and everything that’s happened since has only served to prove her initial instinct right. Whether she needs someone to talk to, work out with, plan camping trips, or help build her very own Sandlot, Darcy knows she can always count on Fiona.

REGGIE CLIFFTON & ARIA ABRAMS:  Friends/Patients. Admittedly, Darcy hadn’t known either girl super well before she started working with them professionally, but she thinks it’s pretty cool to see them around Acup and she always does her best to keep business and pleasure separate when they bump into each other at events (even if she really wants to cheer Ari on when she sees her out on her crutches or nudge Reggie a bit when she thinks she’s holding back). It’s a fine balance, but she thinks she handles it okay.

NICOLA DE ROCHA: Friend and only other member of Acup’s Finer Things club. Others have tried to join but they lack the sophisticated taste in literature and 90’s r&b music to be considered. It’s not about being exclusive, it’s about respecting the art.

Hamish, Lilith and Randall force Jack into getting claimed by Silverback like in canon, but turns out that being new to the claim... Is like being a new wolf pup in a pack. Jack smells just like a pup, instead of the powerful, age old wolf he's been claimed by Because Silverback has been in hibernation for years, he sort of takes a while to settle into his new champion too, so Jack does start acting a bit like the new cub too. So, accidentally, pack instinct kicks in slowly, and they all start protecting him a little more AU where Lilith always knew she knew magic but never talked about it, cause the wolves looked down on it, and she couldn't afford to get kicked out again (and where her, vera and Alyssa are all fine, Gabby doesn't become midnight and Kyle is still alive) It gets to the point where Randall is lending out his clothes to Jack, not just so he's not nude, but so he has some element of control Obviously stress means he slips at points that aren't helpful, so he's usually accompanied everywhere by at least one of the pack, who have things in their bag for just an event. Hamish is most common, cause he makes everyone around him look sloppy anyway so people are less likely to notice Jacks behaviour... Also cause he loves his little one. Remember that part where they're feeding jack the potion so he doesn't die cause silverback ks tryna yeet outta there, and they're all like "sippy time" and "yum yum" and that stuff? Yeah. He slipped further than ever before cause of all the drama and he can't get back up again, so they have to look after him. The potion was a bottle of formula, and he was putting up a token resistance though all he wanted was to be held and fussed over. Jack never got a room in the house, cause he had a dorm room. But in this version, he has a nursery, decked out to his every need and/or whim (thanks to that sigil thing that Lilith uses to get the stuff for him though Hamish disapproves) None of the others know what's going on or why, but they presume its something to do with the fact Jacks mind wasn't open to the idea cause he didn't get the choice to be claimed. They make sure to give him a decision in everything now, even when he's little, because it's so important Hamish does have to move his bar to the baby gated kitchen though, and eventually to an empty office/study, cause uncle Randall kept conveniently forgetting that babies can't have alcohol in their sippies Shocker, Randall can cook. Hamish cant, though they assume that's cause he drinks the cooking wine and gets distracted. Even more of a shocker, Lilith can cook. She doesn't let her little bro eat mac n cheese or dino nuggets all the time, though she did once make them from scratch, which prompted a two day tantrum when Jack was told no more. (Alyssa's timeout sure put an end to that) They may be sfw caregivers, but Hamish and Alyssa aren't ashamed or afraid to give their little pup a swift spanking if he's earned it, especially toward the end of the season. They know his limits, he has a safe word, and they've never hurt him yet, but they cant afford to be bleeding hearts. Randall falls for the puppy dog eyes everytime without fail. Jack wears pullups to start with, because nobody can argue, he's getting a bit incontinent with all his passing out. Eventually he graduates fulltime to diapers, and its always a short straw as to who has to clean up. Lilith always vouches that Alyssa, as the only one of them without a heightened sense of smell, should do it, but it's amazing how many times Lilith seems to miraculously draw the short straw after that. One would almost say its magic . Baby jack does not like real magic. A bit cause the sound hurts his head, but mostly cause its icky, and too much thinking. Give him a good old fashioned card trick anyday, he'll be giggling and playing with rogue cards in no time. Wolves are strong, and Alyssa has a sneaky enhanced strength charm, so anyone and everyone in that house can lift Jack, for diaper checks, or surprise hugs, or to stop him trying to crawl down the stairs after climbing out of his crib again. Everytime it makes him blush, even when big There's one surefire way to keep Jack smol (or get him there), and that is to be picked up and cradled. Doesn't matter where it is, or what else is going on. You pick him up, and cradle him to your chest, especially absentmindedly, or whilst rocking from foot to foot, you'll have a tiny baby Jack on your hands in no time Hamish is the best at that kind of regression for Jack. He likes to get involved in Serious Conversations With Important People About Important Things (mostly with Alyssa about real magic, cause he knows Jack won't listen), and then just suddenly smile, picking Jack up from where he's come near, cradling him, and pushing a pacifier into his mouth whilst nodding seriously. Bonus points if he whispers "Hi there little one/baby/my little wolf pup" in that accent of his. Nap time is a strange calm affair. One can just turn to him, usually the more parental types, and say "Awe, does my puppy need some sleepies/nappy time?" And he'll melt into that crib, happy to do as you ask. The sibling types have a harder time but not by much, they'll usually slip and be like "come on, wolf-dad said nap time. Ill tuck you in." And that's that Hamish loves and hates being called wolf-dad. It was Randall's fault first When the temple magus came around, they all tried to hide it, but she quickly found one of jack's deco-pacis and threatened to give everyone one until they owned up as to whos it was. Lilith and Randall challenged her on that and tried to call her bluff. They were quickly silenced and sentenced to sit on their miraculously padded, exposed butts in timeout for that. Hamish, however, saw sense, and asked Jack if it was okay to share the secret, to which, the already stressed boy simply broke down into tears, falling into headspace immediately. For the rest of that afternoon, they had two fussy babies, and a very quiet, reserved toddler to deal with. Hamish asked Vera about the spell, and she waved him off like "It's only a temporary regressive effect. They're still fully awake jn there, just...without their usual bodily control." And laughs, watching happily as Lilith tries to stand to fight the spell and ends up falling onto her padded butt again, in a cloud of pink lace from her socks and dress, paired with squeaks from her maryjanes Randall was luckier cause he didn't cuss her out when calling her bluff, so he got snappy overalls and a puppy print shirt, though still about as much control as Lilith. Jack refuses to come back out of his regressive state for about a week after that, not even crying for attention through the baby monitors, just waiting for someone to come get him, until one day they find him whispering a story line to himself whilst wheeling some cars back and forth on the floor of the front room. The older siblings rue the afternoon they spent in baby jack's shoes, and try their hardest to be there for him, anticipating his every need They also admonish Hamish for being so patronising to them whilst they were like that, since he took particular joy in offering them bottles of formula, and giving them "age appropriate" toys to play with, but he shrugs it off, going to get another drink Randall finds a onesie that'll fit their little pup, that says "Daddy's drinking buddy" and gets it edited to say "Everyone's drinking buddy", and Hamish instantly loves it Sometimes they sit Jack on the bar when they're drinking, and he'll raise his sippy in toast like everyone else, not quite getting it Turns out, after about a year or so, he actually lost the new cub thing a while back, having learned to control silverback and everything, but he just enjoyed being looked after so much that he let it carry on Lilith and Alyssa are betrayed for a while, but eventually come to their senses, realizing all Jack wanted was a family, as ragtag and weird as it is, and they come back with even more resolve to care for their little wolf pup than before Hamish is quite grandfatherly, he even says he's geriatric, but we cant have Pops as his nickname cause of pete, so...lets say hes..... PawPaw (which matches the wolf thing) or "Mishy" (tundra) Lilith, being the only were-woman, should fall into the motherly role but she's...really not the type. Instead, she's a big sister type. So she's "Sissy" or "Lee" (timber) Randall, however. Maddox exists, so jacks gunna have issues with the brother thing, naturally. So, it's sorta good he's good with being the cool, almost too young uncle. We cant gloss over the gay with Hamish, though ik it's season two..... Its great. We're having it. Nicknames like "Unca 'ndie" or just "Randy" (which is dirty in a way lil jack doesn't get)- (greybeard) Alyssa, on the other hand, is absolutely Mommy. She finds she much prefers Jack when he's playing with his toys on the floor, and babbling behind a pacifier, to when he's trying to be smooth, and its a natural progression from there to her being Mommy (mostly due to some nightmares at nap time and some stern timeouts). Other nicknames include "Liss" or "Ally" if he's trying to hide it in public. It helps him process the loss of Chloe a lot more, and, when they beat Edward, it's a lot easier to turn to Alyssa and regress that way, made even better when his PawPaw can hold him close and make him feel small again. Clay...exists. And knows. He is actually quite cool with it, though he does seem to think Jack's more than a little high. He actually volunteers to babysit when Alyssa's on order business and the rest of them are on Patrol, but Hamish politely turns him down. Clay calls Jack "lil dude" a lot, and also "squirt", which Randall loves cause woo finding Nemo. Vera is a grandmotherly type, the type to just drink all day but loves her baby grandson. She also thinks she has a thing going on with Hamish but Randall is much more important to him, so its never any further than a beard/heteronormativity...plus she has money so can get all of Jack's stuff legit. Lots of incredibles references with JackJack Baby Jack calls the wolves the Paw Patrol, and nobody wants to stop him cause he's so cute about it. Canon divergent at the end. Alyssa takes him to his grandfather's grave, after he dies peacefully in his sleep, and they have a good wholesome conversation, where he ends up slipping at the end, leaving her to hold his hand and help him out of the public area.

ok so she’s an Apothecary, pretty neat her personal skill is Countercurse which is actually pretty neat, it makes an attacker who uses magic against Mozu suffer half the damage they dealt :V of course that’s only useful with magic users, who would probably go for other units who can’t retaliate or smth ANYWAY C rank in bows :o pretty sweeeeet base stats are pretty low (she is level one tho) but she’s got a lot of strength :V I’ve never really used Apothecary units much, since the only one you can get without capturing one is Midori hahah;; (growth rates: HP - 40, Str - 50, Mag - 55, Skill - 20, Spd - 50, Lck - 35, Def - 30, Res - 30, basically really darn mcfreaking good)

Allen’s Anime Throwback: Absolute Duo

So, I just finished up Absolute Duo last night, and... yeah, nothing’s really changed as far as my original opinions on it goes. I still find it to be a decent anime after about two years, definitely something I’d recommend if someone just wanted to watch some cool fights with a bit of comedy and anime hijinks thrown in for good measure. 

Ah, but I’m getting ahead of myself here, let’s start at the beginning. 

Absolute Duo is an anime about main character Tor Kokonoe, a young man just about to join the elite combat school, Kouryou Academy, where every student takes a special drug to become an Exceed, a being able to create a weapon from one’s soul. He joins this school in the hopes of getting stronger in order to avenge his sister who was kill right in front of him at his family dojo. That’s the plot, but... the anime never really goes into detail on Tor’s past, and that’s something annoyed me a little. Outside the flashbacks we see of Tor losing his sister we know nothing else. Tor himself is still suffering from PTSD and refuses to talk about, but that just means we don’t get a chance to truly understand his main motivation and get the full story. I mean, it’s fine at the end of the day, we know his motive and that’s all that’s important, but it’s just something that still urks me. We know that Tor is emotionally scarred by the event, but he never talks about it with anyone. That’s a bit annoying to me, but I can understand that they didn’t want to force that part of his character down our throats. It’d be annoying to deal with a character that constantly talked about that sort of thing. 

But that’s my only real critique of this anime. Outside of that I like just about everything else about. I’m grateful that a lot of the battles were won with clever tactics and planning rather that a pure fight of power. Tor and Julie won against Tsukimi by being smart, using fakeouts, and double teaming her. Tor and friends won against Lilith by coming up with a strategy taking advantage of her cocky attitude leaving her open and acting two steps ahead of her. And... well, the fights with K was won with the eleventh hour power ups, but they came from Julie instead of Tor, something I appreciate. And Tor’s power up in the second K fight was literally on episode eleven, and they hinted at it enough for it to not feel like a cheap deus ex machina. 

Also, to my surprise, Julie, the female lead, was the one with all the crazy dark hado power up nonsense instead of Tor. I... didn’t see that coming. Honestly, it still felt cheap in a way since they never hinted at it, but the fact that a cute girl has it instead of the main male character is something I appreciate nonetheless.

Another thing I appreciate is how serious the plot takes the fact that the students due indeed train at a school meant for combat. Back when combat school anime was a big thing in anime, very few took that fact serious. It usually just felt like an excuse to have super-powered school brawls. However, Kouryou Academy is truly a combat school. Fights take place constantly as training, be it with their Blaze weapons or hand-to-hand combat. The majority of classes shown are physical education classes with anything actual class time being dedicated to world-building or roll call at homeroom, and if a student doesn’t improve their fighting ability by the end of the year, they get expelled. There are a few other interesting things as well, like how the school views its students as soldiers and how the headmaster only sees the students as a means to achieve Absolute Duo, which is basically the show’s equivalent of Super Saiyan. 

That’s... something I honestly had issues with, the headmaster I mean. She pulls a lot of underhanded tricks within the anime and puts her students’ lives at risk several times and never has to answer for it. I mean... she is top dog, but it always annoyed me to see her treat the students as pawns and lab rats for her goal.

Let’s see... what else can I talk about...

Ah, the fact that Exceeds are artificially created by shooting up teenagers with drugs was a shocking turn for me. A rather dark way to gain superpowers, but it just hammers home how badly these kids want power, Tor and Julie especially as both of them are trying to avenge past wrong-doings. 

Speaking of Julie, the supporting cast was pretty good too. Julie was an adorable daughter-esque character, and outside a few fanservice hijink scenes wasn’t treated as loli-bait. Lilith’s cocky attitude became much more charming and endearing after she joined the team officially. Tomoe and Miyabi complimented each other nicely, especially when they formed a partnership as Duos. Torasaki was the Bro character. Tsukimi made a great villian/Vegeta in the first arc of the show. And Tatsu... had muscles.

There’s a few other things I want to talk about as well, but that would go into spoiler territory, so I’ll just say the romance and the harem hijinks that are typical of an anime of this genre was actually handled more maturely than I expect. Not the best, but better than I was expecting, and better than most anime of this genre have done, though the last arc felt cheap in many ways, especially that last episode in terms of explaining things. I’m personally not a fan of spoiling things story-wise, and I spoiled enough talking about the fights, so... just take my word for it, this anime is a lot more competent than what most might give it credit for at a glance.

The OP was also nice, pretty hype music that’s good to do laps to, I recommend adding it to your playlist if you need something new to listen to when exercising. 

As far as major critiques go, the villians of the final arc sort of came out of nowhere. Tor’s power up in episode 11 sort of came out of nowhere. Episode 12 did answer everything I wanted answer, but not in the way I wanted it to be explained. Other than all that, I still think Absolute Duo is a good anime that holds up if you want something competent to watch. Any other critiques I have are spoiler-heavy, so feel free to personally ask me about them if you want to know.

So yeah, give Absolute Duo a watch, it’s on both Funimation and Crunchyroll, and the dub is decent. Lilith’s voice actor is my favorite performance in it, and Tsukimi’s voice actor wasn’t that bad either.

So with that, I’m done with this anime and moving onto World Break. I was going to move onto Keijo!!!!!!!! after this, but... I remember World Break being mediocre and boringly predictable, so I’ll just work on what I think will be the tougher thing to sit through. And then there’s Master of Martial Heart... which I’ll need to see God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and every other deity in the book to cleanse myself of that sin of a show. So yeah, I’ll do the hard stuff first before the fun stuff.

Oh wait, one last thing best I end this...
