Percival's death would hit Lillia much harder due to the fact that he died fighting melusine (a dragon who he viewed as a sibling because she helped raise him) who also died due to the fight. It's a double whammy for him because now his wondering if his actions would not only lead to the downfall of one son, but both (Malleus).

(If the events of book 7 happen after all of this, then it would make everything that goes down hurt worse)

Lilia having to grapple with the fact that he raised a knight and a dragon. A pair fated to end one another I'd just so fucked up man.

Because, against all his wishes, he was forced to raise Malleus at an arms length, which resulted in him yearning for the affection of others to the point that when Lilia, all that he's known and the closest thing to a father for him announcing that not only will he not be able to complete his tenure as his guard but he will be dying is just so.

Deep down, I know Lilia yearned to do more for both Silver and Malleus, to not raise them with the barrier of titles just as he had experienced with the senate preventing him from reaching Malleus sooner.

And to see a near reflection of them kill one another and die just as gruesomely opens a hole in his stomach—if he were to die, will Malleus suffer the same fate as his mother at the hands of his brother? His knight?
