@liketheseas​ “ what i’m saying is ... ” honey’s pacing. only taking two steps in any given direction before turning on her toes to face the opposite. thick hair is tied up into a ponytail and she can’t decide if it’s that or the fact that she’s finally having to have this conversation that’s giving way to the headache starting to pound in her brain. “ i want to live somewhere warm. i want a nice little plot of land, maybe. a few kids to run out to the garden and pick fresh fruit with. i want ... a family. a happy family. i want to be with someone who pays attention to me more than just when they need something ––– ” she’s talking fast ; almost stumbling over every other word in her haste to get everything out before she becomes too cowardly to say anything for the next two years again. 

her eyes are prickling with tears and her hands are settled on her tummy in any meek attempt to settle the nausea bubbling at the pit. she’s looking anywhere but toward him because it’s hard enough to be so brutally honest without having to look anyone in the eye. “ i really doubt you can give me that. ”

“Tandem Harmony”: #day8. This #poem I wrote as a song in attempt to write a cutesy-wootsy tune that still meant something real; the lyrics have a character to them. They also still apply as it hasn’t warmed outside much! #maysnow #2020 I wrote a chord progression to it that my dear friend @fern.cola approved of (he loves my chords) as something that in my opinion has a nice romantic grunginess to it, almost like a tribute to the Beatles and Nirvana at once, with a trace of Smiths-sardonic despair... complete with my own stylings to pepper too. It shifts from 3/4 to 4/4 between each verse and chorus, so it has that sort of chaotic drive from gently lilting to direct & forthright pulling the song on. The bridge, “I pray you’ll be just that... I pray you’ll be just that...” is just another word over a major chord to a new key, till it becomes replete with passion as that chord morphs into a minor chord. Indeed, there’s a little trick built into the chorus where we move to the farthest minor key possible and then right back to a safely tucked major... I like to play with changes in ambience, and I really like how it happens here. There’s a shift up the third (also characteristic of me) to C major that transforms right back to the home base of A-flat, which adds more to the impassioned, desperate reassurance (“Let me not let my worries dull the light”). It also seems to be ambiguous at a certain point whether the initial narrator is singing the whole way through. The song is a prayer of reassurance, which I was looking for today. It’s also a prayer of doubt underlying, and trust in between.
