i grew up watching the original scooby doo where are you? series (fun blazie fact i got the complete og sd series for christmas one year as a kid but i found it under my parents bed on accident like mooooonths ahead of time when i was laying on their floor watching tv and i think i knew i shouldnt have seen it so i just managed to be quiet about until christmas and then went "ohhhh it was a christmas gift that makes sense" in my head on christmas when i got it and i dont think either of my parents know that to this day) as well as the early to mid-2000s what's new scooby doo series with everyone's favorite emo scooby band simple plan pls pay ur respects (sorry simple plan but if u didnt wanna be known as the scooby doo band u rly shouldnt have written such BANGERS SORRY !!) along with the '88-'91 series a pup named scooby doo and all of the movies we're abt to talk abt

as an older kid i've also watched the new scooby doo movies (the show lol) and the new scooby doo show and some of the scooby doo and scrappy doo show and the 13 ghosts series. the newer mystery incorporated series on cartoon network was rly cool!! way more like serious and the mystery lasted the entire series with complex storylines i thought it was really good tbh!! basically what im saying is if its animated from 1969 to 2010 ive probably seen it at least once but more likely like way more times then i could count im just a kid after all

ive seen the live action (the first two i know theres more now but i mean the ones from 2002 and 2004) but respectfully theyre irrelevant to me except that matthew lliard did such a good job playing shaggy that he took over after casey kasem and voiced shaggy in some of the newer animated movies and i think continues to voice shaggy in the animated movies to this day. pretty cool!! the reality is that i was just wayyyy too young to see the live action movies, didnt understand their humor as a literal baby and way too autistic to handle all this change. i also didnt like the implication that scooby is a cannabis fueled hallucination dont talk to me abt that ill cry. or that they made scrappy the villian i disagree, scrappy loves and admires his uncle scooby so much u take it baaaaack 33:

~era 1~

the first era of scooby are the 4 animated tv films although the 4th is kinda in era 1.5 we'll get there. animated tv films mean that they aired on tv originally before getting any physical release, in contrast to the rest of the movies that went straight to dvd release and then also aired on tv (i think). the first three star shaggy scooby and scrappy, scooby's nephew.

the very first scooby movie is called scooby doo meets the boo brothers (n establishes shaggy as having an uncle who owned a southern plantation during the civil war HMMMM 👀 fun scooby fact there lol; he also has an uncle that owns a castle in europe in the whats new scooby doo series, the rogers family is truly diverse and extensive and also his dad is a cop in a pup named scooby doo lol) from 1987, followed almost exactly a year later by scooby doo and the ghoul school in october '88 which is followed about a month later by scooby doo and the reluctant werewolf in nov '88. these three movies are AWESOME and filled with puns so like rly i was doomed from the start raised on these movies to be a sarcastic lil shit heheh. ghoul school is my favorite from this era and is my favorite scooby ever maybe, it goes back and forth between monster of mexico. i rlyrly love ghoul school tho sibella is the biggest vibe ever i wanna be tannis getting taken care of by sibella so bad it hurts all my life annnnnnnnyway ive gotten off topic a bit.

now the 4th movie scooby doo in arabian nights in era 1.5 is different for a couple reasons that's why its sort of in its own era but it was still an animated tv film but it was released in 1994 and was an adaptation of one thousand and one nights. scrappy is also not in this one just shaggy and scooby and the humor is a little different but i actually just rewatched it yesterday and i forgot how good it is !! also shaggy dresses as a girl for the first time in movie form in this one besides the tutu scene in ghouls school i only noticed recently how often this occurs in this series i grew up with and have loved longer then anything other media and turned out to be trans HMMMM.

~era 2~

the second era also has four movies in it and were animated in japan by mook animation. frank welker is the only returning cast member voicing fred again but doesn't take over scooby yet. these movies star the traditional gang from the original series: fred, daphne, velma, shaggy and scooby. i put these in their own era bc they share characteristics from being made a unique animation studio from overseas. the gang have a style up-do and their attitudes are different. my partner puts it that they really lean into the meddling part and i have to agree. especially in zombie island they act like brats lol i'd try to suck their energy out also heh. also scooby hates cats in this era and doesnt understand that he's a dog despite these being previously established in the original series (scooby is friendly with cats and also knows hes a dog). also importantly different in this era is that the monsters are all real, not humans in masks.

the first movie from this era is scooby doo on zombie island from 1998, which is dedicated to the original voice of scooby don messick who died in 1997. this is my partners favorite scooby movie and the music is AWESOMEEEEE it ROCKS.

the witches ghost has awesome music too via the eco goth group the hex girls that DEFINITELY had nothing to do with me being a lil teenage lesbian (oh my god why r they so hot pls tell me why they made them so hot ????) and their music is fucking awesome and their pagan its p heckin cool i love the hex girls smmmm. it came out similarly like a year later in 1999.

in 2000 scooby doo and the alien invaders came out. this one is my least favorite of this era. its not bad !! its just.. not as good lol.

in 2001 scooby doo and the cyber chase came out n this one is my fav of this era, zombie island is my second and witches ghost i just want an entire movie of the hex girls im literally just watching it for the hex girls every time hahahahaha oh actually!! they brought the hex girls back in a couple episodes in the whats new scooby doo series that was a treat !! they're not quite as cool as the og movie hex girls tho but i rly dont know if u can be so i dont fault them !! dusk was always my fav with the green and the pigtails and the drums but i love them all !!

also super fun fact i learned while making sure her name is dusk (i was right btw its thorn dusk and luna ofc i was right 🥰) is that tim curry plays ben ravencroft in witches ghost which is FUNNY bc he plays the goblin king in 2008 which ive been watching recently so that means tim curry has a HISTORY with scooby and i love that SO MUCH hahaha. also mark hamill of luke skywalker fame voices snakebite scruggs in zombie island and tara strong of twilight princess from my little pony friendship is magic voices lena, she's credited with her maiden name. just some cool stuff. well i think its cool and its my thesis and ur reading it so u must be cool too 🥰

~era 3~

era 3 rly covers the rest of the movies but theres sub eras again if you'll bear with me just a lil longer.

scooby would return to movies in 2003 as the first solo animation project of joseph barbera, since william hanna died in 2001. this is the first time in the movies frank welker takes over as scooby since don messick died in '97. he starts this in the whats new scooby doo series that ran 2002-2006 and era 3's animation style, personalities and humor are all much more similar to whats new scooby doo then era 2's.

era 3.1 consists of 2003's legend of the vampire and monster of mexico, the last two movies to reunite the original series cast. monster of mexico is my other favorite scooby movie although i am forever cursed with learning at a young age that el chupacabra is "like Mexico's version of the bigfoot" from this movie and having to always remember that that's not true lol. the bad guy in this movie is the rich white man trying to steal from the Mexican family and town. good stuff. i like this one a lot. BANGERS!!!!!! if there's something that stays with scooby throughout all these years it's the MUUUUSIC !!!!! legend of the vampire is also cool and GUESS WHO'S BACK MY GIIIIRRRRLLLSSSS the hex girls are back in this one with the same VAs as witches ghost. i also found that they were in mystery incorporated when making sure they were in legend of the vampire!! truly icons i love them sm im so gaaaayyyyyy !!

era 3.2 starts with 2004's loch ness monster and has the voice cast of what's new scooby doo, with velma and daphne's original VA's retiring from scooby at this point. casey kasem and frank welker are still here. era 3 takes the gang worldwide really, with locations from australia to mexico to scotland to hawaii to egypt to the bermuda triangle to the himalayas before they go back to coolsville in 2008's goblin king!! in monster of mexico we see them on a video call in their houses so presumably this is the first time coolsville is seen again in a scooby movie since 2003!! although in goblin king they do use coolsville by name but they don't in monster of mexico so it's not actually confirmed if they're canon living in coolsville at the start of era 3 it's just my head canon. coolsville is the town that the gang is from in the original series and a pup new scooby doo (which is technically a prequel series to the og scooby doo where are you)

~era 4~

2009's samurai sword (which is the only movie i dont own of all of these although that was before i knew this was the last one with casey kasem i just remember being kinda meh on it oops) was the last scooby movie with casey kasem voicing shaggy. 2010's abracadabra doo is the first animated movie that matthew lliard voices shaggy in and the start of era 4. aside from the change from kasem to lliard, the animation style got an upgrade and they took out the "and the" part of the title, from scooby doo "and the" monster of mexico to scooby doo abracadabra doo as one example. this is in line with the release of scooby doo mystery incorporated in 2010. just as era 3's movies partnered with the series that ran in tandem, era 4 has a closer animation style to mystery incorporated and the same voice cast. abracadabra doo is rly good !! it's my partners second favorite scooby !! again guys the music is AWESOME and also velma's little sister mads is in it and rly cute 🥰 they released camp scare in 2010 also it's alright it's not bad. i got it in the set that i bought with most of my other movies otherwise i probably wouldn't have seen it. solid scooby movie, but not one of my favs.

~conclusion~

this is also the end of my eras of expertise if u will. ive seen a couple of the newer scooby movies since 2010 but its all just kinda meh to me, im too autistic n just wanna watch the same movies over and over again for the rest of my life. i have a nightstand drawer that they live in 🥺👉🏻👈🏻 someone else will have to take up the torch for scooby movie eras 2011 and later🫡 or not..theyve been retconning older properties.. like they made a "sequel" to zombie island in 2019 20 years later except did they watch the ending to zombie island ????? #notmyscooby lol 😋

one last scooby fact that i learned while writing this. ive seen iwao takamoto in scooby credits all my life in every credits roll and ive always thought that was amazing! but never looked into him until now. HE DESIGNED SCOOBY DOO GUYS WHAT !!!!! this man went to the Japanese internment camps after the bombing of pearl harbor, survived them, got out and JUST APPLIED TO DISNEY. HE WAS HIRED AT DISNEY IN 1945 GUYS THE WAR E N D E D IN 1945 WHAT A LEGEND !!!!????!!!! he worked for disney from 1945 to 1961 working on animation such as cinderella, peter pan, lady and the tramp, sleeping beauty n one hundred n one dalmatians !! then he went to work for hanna-barbera and designed scooby and astro the dog from the jetsons n others !!!! he has several notable awards but it seems like the golden award from the animation guild in 2005 was the highest honor. he has a memoir i actually wanna get that n read it !! he died in 2007 at the age of 81 but remains in the scooby credits as the character designer past his death 🥲🥹 scooby is based off of an employees great dane at hanna-barbera 🥹💕

During your last live video, you’d been asked multiple times for your boyfriend to do your makeup for a video.

Now, your boyfriend was a busy man (being the number two hero and all), but your audience had been requesting his presence in a video for some time now and you had to admit the idea sounded quite fun. Keigo was always welcome to your ideas, happy to show up during your lives if your fans asked where he was and eager to help you with your set ups whenever you were going to film something new. “Of course.” He rolled his eyes playfully as he rubbed the primer in with his fingers, letting it dry while he scanned the table for his next item.

He faced the camera briefly,“We met at the grocery store, we’re boring people, okay?”

“Truth.” You giggled, as you were sure people expected a much more exciting story.

Keigo, now armed with an eyebrow pencil, began running the brush through your brows before slightly marking a few empty spots. You grinned, he knew you so well.

“I’m sure many of you think we met at that gala where I interviewed Keigo on whether he preferred chicken or beef and he said—”

“Take me out to dinner and find out.” He quoted himself from that night.

You laughed,“Sorry to disappoint, but by then we’d actually been on a couple dates and I very much knew the answer to that question, I was asking stuff from his fans. We were pretty lovesick already at that point, I think, and then everyone started shipping us.”

“Unbeknownst to you all, we were seeing everything and just laughing.” Keigo chuckled.

He tapped his chin as he picked up an eyeshadow palette and opened it up to sniff it.

He searched the pile of brushes while you asked the next question,“What was your first date like?”

“Ooh, I have this one!” Keigo dipped his brush into what he guessed was your favorite color based on how much was missing,“Initially, I wanted to fly her to our date spot, but since I happened to know how deathly afraid of heights she was… I knew it wouldn’t happen — not on the first date, I thought — so we took a nice little stroll there, I picked her up and she was wearing a sparkly dress and looked oh so pretty—”

“There’s a picture of me in that outfit up on my accounts, actually, if you know you know.” You commented before he grabbed your chin and instructed for you to close your eyes.

“I took that picture.” He made sure to clarify, and you felt him tap something (glitter, you were guessing) into your inner eyelids as he continued,“Anyway, I had this gazebo set up really nice, lots of lights, flowers, cute shit, and we had dinner and talked the whole night, super romantic. By the end of it, she loved me—”

“Don’t lie!”

“You did, dove, I mean, c’mon, you let me fly you around by the end of it.”

“Okay, I did.” You sighed,“But only because you made me feel like I could really trust you.”

“And have I ever given you any reason to doubt that?” He looked into your eyes and again, you sighed.

“No…”

“Then?”

“Whatever. What’s next?” You pointed at your makeup pile that he was slowly going through, putting aside what he’d already used.

He went through and placed foundation all over your face, making sure to blend it into your neck while you went through a few more questions.

“Who does Hawks’s eyeliner?” You giggled.

Your boyfriend scoffed, facing the camera with a deadpan expression on his face,“Okay, I’m saying this once and only once, much to contrary belief, the ‘eyeliner’?” He rubbed at his eye and even dragged his finger down,“Is not makeup, it’s not a part of my costume or a fun little gimmick, the closest I can get to explaining it is a beauty mark. It’s permanent.”

“You tell ‘em, babe.” You continued to laugh, only to stop as he picked up your actual eyeliner.

“Just for that we’re gonna replicate this on you.”

“Awe.” You pouted,“I can’t pull that off.”

And he knew it too since you only ever applied eyeliner very minimally.

“Shush and hold still.” He paused the step he was on to attempt the new look for your eyes.

“I’d like you all to know, Keigo is very much holding his breath right now and his mouth is wide open, he’s definitely one of us.” You said smugly, an inside joke only those who wore makeup and did anything eye related could understand.

“Hold on, shh.” Your boyfriend paused as he swiped a finger under your eye and held out your fallen eyelash to you,“Make a wish.”

This wasn’t a rare occurrence actually, you often lost many eyelashes due to rapid blinking whenever your eyes became strained and he loved for you to make wishes. You often did the same to him; and so you closed your eyes and thought of your wish before tossing the tiny thing over your shoulder.

He grinned and pecked your lips a few times, satisfied that the lash hadn’t stuck to you because it meant your wish would be granted,“So what’d ya wish for?”

For this to never end.

You smiled back,“Can’t tell, won’t come true.”

He pouted, but knew the rules just as well. He finished up his eyeliner and immediately resuming his last step. Now you were the one pouting,“I wanna see.”

“Nope, wait until the end.”

“Boo.”

“Next question, lovebird.”

You continued through the questions until Keigo seemed satisfied enough with your looks, finishing off with a kiss to seal the deal and you smiled,“Done?”

“Mhm.”

“No lipstick?”

“No point.” He shrugged, leaning back on his hands,“I’ll end up eating it all off in a second anyway.”

You didn’t bother correcting him, picking up a mirror to check out the eyeliner that he actually made a little thinner than what his non-eyeliner looked like and you smiled, it didn’t look half bad and he got all the steps right. Though he didn’t do them in the order you did them, they weren’t technically wrong and you looked pretty alright.

As you finished off the video, your boyfriend waved at the tripod and you shut off the camera.

“Well, I’d call that a success.” You smiled at him.

“Great, wanna go get ice cream?” He looked up at you in adoration before teasing,“I wanna show off my hard work.”

You smiled, you already had your wish.

im really not having a lot of fun watching sams/laes anymore and it's just making me rather sad. so. this post is me yapping about that- under the cut in case someone doesnt wanna see it (and i have a tag to block if peeps dont wanna see my saltier/more discourse-ridden takes in general lmao)

tbch, i feel a bit bad about it. or not really Bad, just upset n' angry n' annoyed that im no longer getting as much joy out of watching the shows as i used to. it does a big hit to The Tism which normally clings onto these shows like a leech dhfssdfgd

i think i've made my opinions on the current arc blatantly clear to anyone who's seen me post about it before, but in case someone Hasn't, let it be known i do not like this arc. i hate it. i hate what they did to nexus/new moon, i hate how it's being handled, i hate how some of the other characters are being treated/are acting, i hate how the fandom has become so split over this arc that you almost have to pick a side and can only make friends on that side. i hate it.

anytime its a silly episode i have the gnawing thought of 'nexus is out there. perhaps being manipulated by dark sun or falling further into villainy, or something even worse.' in the back of my mind, so i can barely focus on the silly and just start thinking about nexus instead. and sometimes the silly episodes just bore me or contradict themselves or make me worried for the future. (ie, for the last one, some things that are nothing but silly jokes in the moment- such as frank- can later be considered legit serious and lore important things down the line, so i always have to keep my guard up a lil bit even around silly episodes. its rather exhausting).

and anytime its a lore ep im just not interested in it bc im more curious as to whats going on in other parts of the lore. ofc i mainly mean nexus, but im also curious about eclipse and what he's plotting. about the astrals, specifically lunar v taurus. i simply dont see the content i was hoping to see, and its been happening back-to back-to back-to back now on these two channels. so, it's starting to become unfun/boring for me.

not to mention that i just Miss the vibby games- i miss the video games very, very much and i am constantly angered at the higher ups for making the va's do more lore both because all this lore is grating and im also highkey worried for the va's. idk how stressful it must be to film lore for basically every day, but i'd bet its not the best thing in the world. i fear for even worse burn-out.

overall, this, to me, is just not a fun time in these two shows rn and im really thinking about just Ignoring this arc completely in my own canon and instead focus on past lore/silly videos. like i'll prolly still theorize about what's next and watch the eps just bc i like hearing their voices, but ive gotten past the "im angry at this for fun" phase and am more into the "im not angry anymore, just bored, sad, and disappointed with how things are turning out," phase.

omg inspiration for film is a greaaatttt question!!! i kinda want to explore that in main storyline now!!! i think when she was younger, she was a bit more of a quiet kid and was always the english teachers’ fave student bc she was really emotionally intelligent n had great vocabulary and in general a great eye for art n literature, so that academic praise kinda got her into writing stories n watching films, she studied a lot of old hollywood classics n from there she became really interested in film as a whole. i think it became a form of expression for her, since she had kind of a whacky childhood (will uncover more of this in later chaps) i like to think before she applied to college, she wanted to be an english major n become an english teacher but she knew deep down that film was what she really wanted to do and even though her family was reluctant, she went ahead n applied as a film major anyway (btw utokyo is hard to get into for film bc they only have a few spots for their program which is one of the best in the nation so i think she did well for herself :) it’s also why she wants to get into utokyo’s film masters specifically!!)

u guys are in my walls i was literally talking to danny about streaming and content creation a few days ago

we came to the conclusion that i can’t start return to streaming unless i get my mental health fully under control. like i’m doing a lot better now than when i was streaming consistently. however, not good enough to throw myself into content creating again lol. doing irl streams i think would be really stressful for me bc my social anxiety is already awful i can’t imagine myself walking around and LIVESTREAMING i have so much respect for the people that do.

THAT BEING SAID, if i were to ever return to being a content creator i think i would just vlog on youtube. but i would do it more as a me thing like to have a video record of my life to look back on when i’m older, maybe show it to my kids in the future n be like “hey this is what your mom was doing in her 20s”. i don’t think i would do it with the end goal of being like a big youtuber or anything.

i will apologize for not having a movie review recommendation for you though:(((((((((((( i literally get all that i need from my letterboxd mutuals (i trust them with my life) i have found the people who have the same taste as me and i know that when the majority of them like a movie - i will like it. a "real film critic" could say that it's shit but when the people of letterboxd say it's five stars i fucking know it's five stars ok

i haven't been on a movie review channel/person search in a while but last i was i realized that so many of them are rather technical and that's boring..... so i really do trust letterboxd more. of course, there are a lot of just one-liners (i literally do that too) but there are people who write long and deep reviews and those feel so much more personal and give more insights than the ones i've seen floating around the internet.

FOR MOVIE ANALYSIS my favourite channel is lessons from the screenplay!!!!!! i've been watching his videos for ever ever and ever and i love them so much!!1! he has taught me so much, especially when i was just getting more into films!!! so i went to my little playlist of videos and i picked up some about my all time favourite films!!

inglourious basterds - the elements of suspense; my god, do i love this movie....... this is a yearly watch for me, i've memorized the lines and all. the performances are great, the soundtrack is amazing, it's so fucking funny??? and i'm now also realizing how much of a filmbro i'm actually coming off as but do i care? not at all. i love this movie.

blade runner 2049 (2017) - a film about a replicant/an android detective who finds out that another replicant had a child many years ago (replicants cannot have children) and he's now convinced that he is said child this is sci-fi with some action and blood but it's not scary plus points for the insane visuals and the soundtrack 9/10 minus point for it being kind of slow paced?

the nice guys (2016) - a film about two private detectives; one of them is almost cool and the other one is so pathetic i love him so much this is a comedy so 10/10

the man from uncle (2015) - a film about spies spying on each other, it's so fun (the soundtrack is good but we knew that already didn't we smh) 9/10 minus point for armie hammer the cannibal

without her i wouldn’t even have made violet in the first place, she was the start for everything, before i read the book i already had my oc planned and made but i was very unhappy with it and hated talking about it bc i’m such a perfectionist. i literally wouldn’t let it even see the light of day until i stumbled upon raven madison on pinterest and dumped everything i ever wrote for “violet” in the garbage and started fresh, raven was the embodiment of everything i ever wanted in my oc (besides a couple more things), violet’s name was actually gonna be raven (or celestia lol) from how huge her impact on me was, i see raven as a younger version of violet

one thing i wanted violet to embody is the maneating succubus bisexual jennifer check, her confidence her humor the way she manipulates to get what she wants, everything jennifer is i added it to violet’s vampire form (and some on her human form), i wanted her to be more succubus-like

i would love to say that she’s a female version of ayato but since he’s her love interest i thought that would be a little too weird and obvious, a little bit of ayato’s personality has been added to vivi because i wanted him to feel like he’s speaking to a mirror in a way

they were a big part for vile’s fashion sense (except hers is way slutty lol) the craft’s school uniforms were a big inspiration to vile’s ryoutei uniform. jane was a big part in deciding violet’s casual wear since hers is more comfy, simple and really fucking cute i couldn’t not make violet wear that, and ofc taylor motherfucking momsen, her wearing lingerie dresses and fishnets did something to my brain that made me think “why the fuck is lingerie made only for the male gaze” when it’s too fucking cute to let it go to waste like that, why doesn’t anybody wear lingerie on a day to day basis with jeans or skirts then i realized how judge-y society is and thought ykw lemme add that to violet’s fashion board instead

didn’t i say violet is kind of a self insert? she’s like an alter ego to me, she’s everything i ever wanted to be, everytime i pick an outfit or get put in a tough situation i think “what would violet do/wear” and act by that, i wanted to separate me and my oc’s apart because i don’t wanna be cliche n do a self insert but it’s really hard writing something i don’t relate to & plus writing her was WAY more fun than writing any oc. if anybody deserves credit for violet it’s ME

BOOKE......... vol 22 of natsuyuu & holy shit what a GORGEOUS cover i wanna do a redraw of it so bad now that i FINALLY have it hsmgnsghj absolutely my fave cover in the series TBH. also this is a big deal bc it's one of the last few volumes i need to complete the series and it's SERIOUSLY hard to find rn (i will get into this more below but just know it's basically a miracle i have this 🙏)

3. ANIMORPHS WAAAAAA so the store i went to had a bunch of different shit including both manga & normal books (i see no difference love is love) so ofc i HAD to check the children's section and they had these two animorphs books for a few bucks each!! i honestly didn't really even pay attention to which ones they were beyond checking the numbers to make sure i didn't already have them but as soon as i got home i got a good look at them AND THEY ARE??? BOTH BANGERS????? YOOOOOOOOOO

#19 The Departure (butterfly book) is the one where cassie cheats death thru a bullshit morphing rules loophole and it's GREAT and oh yeah a lot of philosophical "see from the enemy's pov" gray morality stuff which goes so much harder than im making it sound.... it's always been one that stood out to me as a special one so i am Thrilled to have it

SO FUNNY STORY LOL i've been rly into manga collecting videos on yt which frequently dip into manga shopping vlogs right. they go to stores & film the shelves & it's a lot of fun to see all the stuff they have but Most Importantly whenever they get to the N section my eyes ZOOM TF IN lookin for those natsuyuu spines bc i'm on the fuckin hunt and i'm obsessed i NEED to see what they have (which is why i always die inside whenever they skip over the entire naruto section bc natsuyuu is usually RIGHT after it and EVERYBODY MISSES IT slams fist on the ground)

the main thing i look for is volumes i don't have which is a dangerous game bc if i DID see smth i needed and was unable to obtain it i would simply perish and wither away on the spot because these last 3 volumes i need are SO IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND they are not ANYWHERE online except on ebay for like $150 which SUCKS so if i knew they were out there existing on a shelf completely out of my reach i wouldn't make it

anyway i was watchin a shopping vlog & this guy's like we're going to the book-off in this exact location and im like wowie that's near me maybe i should check it out sometime and he's like here's the manga section and im like 👁👁 bc ofc i am and it's not like he's showing every shelf in detail, doesn't even really look at the N section BUT what do i see with my Combat Trained Eagle Eyes

i call the place & ask abt it and they're like ya we have it forrr $7.99 and i scream in my head so so loud bc that's $2 below retail and like $75 below the asking price on ebay (some fucking goon is selling a goddamn raw unrestored library copy for over $80 hello?????? absolute clown behavior SMH meanwhile this below retail copy is in Wonderful condition it's BEAUTIFUL)

ik i said earlier that i was "nearby" the location in the video but that was a lie it's a fucking hour drive which is Small Price To Pay for Natsume's Book of Friends Vol 22 by Yuki Midorikawa in MY mind but since i don't drive i had to find someone who agreed w/ me lmfao. the store does not ship either to ur home or to a closer location so i had literally no other option and on top of that they only do same day holds on items, to stress out Me Specifically (joking tho they were so so nice. the person i spoke to was like "well this series doesn't sell v often and we've had it for a while, so there's a good chance it'll still be here whenever you can come out" like 😭 they didn't have to reassure me like that but they did and it helped me make it thru the week goddamnit)

so luckily i was able to get out there the very same weekend and like bro. they have so much shit it's a rly cool store... i believe they have new items but their whole thing is resale & second-hand stuff so u can find some rly neat stuff there... i spent so long in the merch section oh my god. they have this entire aisle that's just pins & buttons & charms and it's absolute madness, like This Shit (different location but same idea)

and good god u would not BELIEVE the sheer amt of ososan stuff they had there, i genuinely believe a flat 50% of it was just ososan AT LEAST (even in this pic i can see a kara on that second shelf there gksdngskdf 2nd to last row on the far right), i think i would have died if i'd gone there during the height of my obsession bc holy shit. why did they have so much osomatsu san. it was bananas (i might've gotten smth if i found one i liked but it was mostly like official art lookin stuff & that style doesn't rly appeal to me so rip. there were a LOT of karas & ichis tho)

anywayyyyy i shouldn't have spent so much time going thru all that but among the sea of buttons & pins were those rubber character charms here and there which i WAS interested in, specifically bc one of the kimi to boku sets i want so dearly is the rubber charms like LOOK at them.........

i am not only screaming & crying but ALSO throwing up LOOK AT THEMMMMM i would die for all 5 of them. anyway they didn't have any of em as far as i could see which wasn't that surprising since it's not a very well-known series but also i saw a million guys i'd never seen in my life in that section so IT WAS POSSIBLE..........

i wandered around the books section for a while bc i wasn't ready for the manga yet (busy aisle) & that's where i found the animorphs WHICH btw are in SUCH good condition like obvs the pages are yellowed but the covers & spines are clean af and both of the cover illustrations underneath are intact so i'm super happy abt that!! i looked around for a few other things just for fun, like they had a few deltora quest books, neither of the ones i need but it was still neat to see. o they also had a copy of wayward son (simon snow book 2) which was rly fun bc hey i know those guys!!! need to get back to reading their shit rly bad but uh u know!!!!! i will

the manga section wasn't super big, just like. one aisle, both sides. they had alphabetical markers to organize them but man things were pretty out of order within each section so i hope i didn't miss anything gskdnkfdg.... it's not like i was planning on buying a whole lot but i did have a list of things to keep an eye out for and if they happened to be a good price then,,,

i didn't find anything tho rip. i rly wanted to check out some japanese manga too but it didn't look like they had any so i was like oh well but fuckin. i'm SO mad at myself, the next morning i found out that APPARENTLY all the jpn manga's in the dollar outlet version of the store they had upstairs, which i KNEW existed but didn't end up checking out gjgaughagjsdgj i'd even thought about asking one of the employees if they had any but i DIDN't and now im DYING oh my god. i'll never be able to get out there again, not any time soon, this was like a One Time Thing i'm so OTL

(i was gonna look for like, natsuyuu fanbooks, some of midorikawa's other works, maybe some monthly magazines like the one natsuyuu gets published in if they even had that sort of thing.... oogh im lying down)

anyway i pretty much checked out after that, they had my book at the counter bc i had called ahead to place a hold JUST TO BE SAFE..... who knows how many other people watched that guy's video and paused obsessively over that one part bc they caught a glimpse of natsuyuu spines in the bg and spotted the elusive vol 22 sitting Right There for all the world to see and immediately started planning how to get out there asap before it disappeared like a dream evaporating into mist as soon as you wake up

anyway that's where the book shopping saga ends but the last magical thing that happened was the mall had a somisomi aka taiyaki babeeyyyyyyy (v exciting bc the one at my local mall is GONE) so i got some w the taro filling (taro my beloved) and it was THE BEST

somisomi's main thing is like, ice cream taiyaki (left) but i always just get the regular kind (right) bc hmnmgnhm i like the it

so that concludes my funny lil weekend trip, even if i missed the outlet store i still got some super gr8 stuff & i'm v happy about it ;v;

I think the biggest perks for the fanclub membership, mainly for jp fans since i think it’s still unavailable for overseas unfortunately, is ticket sales for fanclub seats at their lives and fanclub limited merch 🤔 them having a concert in south korea in february tells me that, while it’s unavailable for now, it could very well be implemented in the future if they eventually do more lives overseas (i am hoping very very much that this is the case). As for merch, the site they use for their online store doesn’t accept overseas card as payment, so while you might be able to use a proxy service to purchase their regular merch (i have done this LOL), you wouldn’t be able to purchase fanclub limited merch (such as their birthday goods) even with a proxy because it prompts to connect to your account with the membership. but again, the fact that they opened up their fc to overseas fans tells me that, while it may not be immediate, they might try to make stuff like this more accessible to overseas fans eventually 🤔 (once again, i am hoping very very much that this is the case sdflgkg)

Other than that, there’s video content where they do a variety of stuff every once in a while (they posted a 2023 demme(?) award video on their yt channel for a limited time which shows clips of the different kinds of stuff they post there that fc members voted for their favorite moments), they have a daily gacha where you pull once a day to get a behind the scenes photo of the members n stuff, a moments thing which is kinda like insta story?, and other member news/photos/reports and stuff that they post on their website under the member's menu. And depending on which annual plan you go with, you get bonus items (a membership card?) if you’re willing to pay a lil extra for shipping (the other annual plan and the monthly plan don't come with the bonus items if you don't want to pay the extra for shipping and have no need for them)

I also have never stanned an artist to this extent ever so this is a very new experience to me too LOL also this is available even without a fc membership but if you download the “bubble for japan” app and sub to one or all of the members, the members will send messages n photos n stuff to you like in a regular messaging app (this is also an experience HFSDKGH). I think each member was abt 500yen a month but iirc, fc members get a slightly discounted price

so one of my favorite youtubers Ashens is making a new movie and it looks reallyyyyyy cool and I'm so excited for it!!!! he's done two other movies before, but both of them are comedies, and this upcoming one is a horror so I'm excited to see what it's gonna be like!!! and I love love love horror movies also, so even unrelated to ashens I'm excited to see it!! :D 

it's called Turn Back and it's a folk horror (I LOOOOOOVE FOLK HORROR AAHHHHH IM SO EXCITED IM SO EXCITED i need to watch way more folk horror movies for sure) and it's TOLD IN REVERSE it's gonna be so cool to see how that's gonna be executed, I love movies that you have to sit on and think about and then watch again and only Then do you only Start to get the full picture aaahhskgjjss that's what the wicker man is like to me (WHICH IS ANOTHER EXCELLENT FOLK HORROR FILM) and that's one of my favorite favorite favorite movies of all timeeeee and it's really funny to reflect on it because on my first watching of it I actually didn't like it very much but then I gave it another chance and THAT'S when it really clicked in my brain hehehe
