yes you love and cherish trans people but are you normal about intersex people, who are significantly more likely to be trans than a perisex person (at least in terms of intersex youth)?
do you acknowledge that they are directly targeted by many bills that also target trans people or do you say that they're just another group being indirectly targeted by anti-trans bills?
do you say that no kids are being forced on hrt or do you acknowledge that intersex babies are often forced on hrt?
do you acknowledge that intersex people can often have a complex experience with gender or do you just scream "intersex people can be cis too!!" whenever an intersex trans person tells you to stop disregarding their unique relationship with gender?
do you see a post asking for people to listen to intersex people and respond without sexualizing us or do you conflate your allyship with sexuality by saying "yeah i'd totally fuck an intersex person!"?
do you call animals with intersex conditions "trans icons" or do you actually acknowledge their intersex conditions?
do you treat us like human beings or do you ask us invasive questions about our genitals like we're some kind of lab rats?
do you listen when we tell you not to call us hermaphrodites or do you just make the excuse that animals are called hermaphrodites so you should be allowed to call us that too?
do you acknowledge intersex transfems and transmascs regardless of their casab or do you screech about how intersex people are co-opting your terms?
do you try and group intersex people under terms like amab/afab and tme/tma without acknowledging their actual experiences or do you just yell about how intersex people are trying to take your language away? (edit: this also includes very conveniently not mentioning intersex people's concerns and experiences when yelling about this)
do you acknowledge that not all intersex people are white? do you care about intersex poc?
do you care about us outside of the times that you can use us against transmisic people as a gotcha?

PokéPride: Gender Associations
Sylveon = Transgender
Colours match the transgender flag.
Sometimes divided into transfem and transmasc using the standard and shiny colourations respectively, but a lot of the time a Sylveon symbol is inclusive to all who consider themselves trans.
Subtle Sylveon symbols often reference their bows or ribbons.
CW Transphobia = Some trans people also relate to one of the many sad Sylveon experiences, being loved until they’re open about their expression at which point they’re shunned.
Azurill line = transgender
Based on the fact that within certain populations, female Azurill can evolve into male Marill.
The symbols are often just Azurill and Azumarill. Marill can be used by trans communities, but it is also used by intersex communities.
Usage has different connotations than using Sylveon; where Sylveon are often reflective of a desire for acceptance, the Azurill line are used to show that one’s gender and expression of it was always going to happen regardless of others’ views.
It has also be used by trans people who embrace their previous assigned gender. They were A, now they are B, but that doesn’t mean they were never A and they do not want to discount how they were as A.
Amoonguss = transgender
Lesser known as this is a relatively new association and knowledge is limited to those at least interested in the competitive battling scene.
Used more as a symbol of allyship and solidarity with trans people, rather than being a symbol forged from kinship.
CW Transphobe mention = Became a symbol after a championship finals match where an Amoonguss was the main reason for the transphobic opponent losing, managing to put opponents to sleep and sludge bomb perfectly.
Croagunk = transmasc
A rare symbol used by transmasc folk who experienced hardships because of being trans, often using Croagunk instead of other symbols because said hardships are a key part of their identity.
The white stripes on its torso are reminiscent of makeshift binders; fighting is done to “ensure survival”; Croagunk poison specifically being used in medication for lower back pain while the poison in general can be seen as a defence.
Ditto = genderfluid, gender non-conforming & xenogenders
It makes sense the pokémon that can be anything is a symbol for so many things.
Ditto can be a symbol for genderfluid communities due to their transforming capabilities allowing them to change from one species to another with ease, correlated to genderfluid people’s changing gender identity.
GNC groups also identified with ditto due to it appearing however it wants but it being a ditto is still a core part of it’s existence.
Xenogender communities as a collective (since the specific communities within have their own symbols) also also adopted ditto because they are the only pokemon like them out of all pokémon species, hence their own egg group, and sympathise with only others like you understanding the deeper parts of you regardless of how else you present as or integrate yourself with.
The different communities often use ditto in different ways to differentiate what is being represented: in genderfluid contexts the ditto is between forms, showing traits of multiple species as well as the ditto itself; in GNC contexts the ditto is as another pokémon but with the ditto’s signature face; in xenogender contexts the ditto is as itself.

Hi, hope you're doing well! I'm doing a group school presentation on discrimination in the medical field, and I want to include intersex people in it. I was wondering if you'd have any recommendations for sources that I could refer to? (Both intersex 101 stuff and stuff on medical intersex oppression would be appreciated, I want to include a little bit of general intersex information since a lot of people don't even know what it is)
omg sorry it took me a little bit longer to get back to you!!
So, @intersex-support has a REALLY great page kind of dedicated to your questions here, it includes links to activists, organizations, and resources discussing intersex genital mutilation and medical abuse: https://intersex-support.tumblr.com/resources/
AND they have a page that links to many recognized intersex variations and an overview of what they are: https://intersex-support.tumblr.com/intersexvariations
a lot of the medical abuse we face are doctors taking autonomy over our bodies and trying to make us fit the "standard" of what the male and female sex should look like. so we are often mutilated in infancy, and a lot of times our features we are born with are not referred to as "intersex" to parents, but as "abnormalities" that can be corrected to encourage them to give consent to "fix" our bodies. and even in adulthood, people can and will still try to take away our bodily autonomy. things like nonconsensual hormone therapy, or intersex people in sports (like caster semenya).
my wording is very sloppy atm, because i am not having a good brain day. but here are some other links to help you get started at least! i just went through my intersex tag for quick grabs.
and, to talk about caster semenya, the discrimination she is facing is directly because she is intersex, a woman, and black. it is the intersection of intersexism and misogynoir. most people just ignore the intersexism part and paint her discrimination as a trans issue and completely forget about the intersex part when that is the main issue.
and how sometimes young intersex bodies are used as human experimentation, with some women in the surgery mentioned below having been underaged and unable to fully consent to the procedures they may have been coerced into. this surgery is wonderful for those who want it, but it's disheartening to know that it was the result of intersex surgeries that were swept under the rug and described as a "disorder".
anyway, i hope this helped you at least scratch the surface! my specific intersex variation is androgen insensitivity syndrome, so while i know way more about most intersex variations better than the average dyadic person—androgen sensitivity syndrome is the variation i'm most knowledgable about and have the most experience with.
the trans community has come a long way in recent years in providing better allyship for us and helping boost intersex voices. we overlap with so many of the same problems, so the trans and intersex communities should be each other's #1 allies, and i'm happy it's becoming that way more and more.

@egberts I mentioned the ace flag specifically because the (orange and pink) lesbian flag was taken out specifically because people were claiming the flag creator was problematic, despite being given no proof.
Tumblr media
iirc (the statement last year by the artist was vague as to what the accusations were) there was a brief period where people were claiming the creator of the white pink & orange lesbian flag was an aphobe, which turned out to be false (or at least there was no proof of any statement or even stance on the "discourse") & was settled long before june 2020 but that is what I believe the "controversy" was that resulted in our exclusion and why I pointed out the ace flag being there specifically since it all stemmed from "ace discourse" (there's another comment I made on this post with the screenshot of the creator's tweet explaining & another reblog mentioning that the intersex flag is also there incorrectly).
it's also part of a larger pattern of lesbians being excluded from pride stuff like this in favor of ace people... from lgbt merch to actual pride events to corporate bare minimum stuff like this (tumblr even did the same thing a couple years ago where the flashing t didn't have the lesbian flag but had the ace flag during pride month). I wasn't expecting google dot com to do actual allyship I was just tired of having the biggest part of my identity be replaced with a label that isn't even inherently lgbt.
opened google this morning and was (not) surprised to find the portrait celebrating Marsha p johnson didnt have the lesbian flag but sure did have the ace flag on it
