#like…. c!techno just generally makes me so fucking angry

I've been thinking for a bit on what bothers me in regards to c!niki, and why I find it strange that some paint her as a girlboss that'll beat c!wilbur to a pulp, and I finally figured it out I think

not only is it obvs weird because of cwilburs general circumstances, but also er c!niki kinda... did almost the exact same thing as c!wilbur? and then moved on without any consequences?

let's get down what c!niki is mad at c!wilbur for. shes mad at him for lying, for blowing up lmanburg, for changing so much in a relatively short time, for being (in her own words) manipulative; this all culminates together in the fact that c!niki is mad at c!wilbur for how he acted during his mental spiral and that he hurt people, that he hurt lmanburg, that he hurt her. that he left and abandoned them because he refused to face consequences for his actions.

trust me btw I know most of this shit is wrong and not a correct view on cwilbur, bit thats what c!niki sees in him currently and in the past.

but now that I think about it, didn't c!niki continue on to do just... very very similar things? after cwilburs death and everything in new lmanburg, she gave up on the country just like cwilbur did. she burned the tree down, she cut herself off. then c!niki joined a... 'group' that finds its purpose on checking up on others with the threat of violence that they don't dare make a government. then during her own mental spiral she pushed all her problems on a teenager and tried actively murdering him through a weapon his best friend build to protect them. then she went on to abandon c!jack and help c!dream escape prison because she just had to help c!techno with HIS favor. and then she also isolated herself, continuing her mental spiral.

so, c!niki: abandoned lmanburg, hurt people she initially cared about due to her own mental spiral, supported c!dream through assisting in his escape and has not apologized or realised a fault in a single of these things.

c!niki hasn't been mentally well in a long time, obviously, and c!wilbur did hurt her. she deserves a long talk and an apology as much as the next lmanburgian. she was close to cwilbur and seeing him shatter as he did must have been horrible.

BUT c!niki cant expect c!wilbur to come crawling for forgiveness when she hasn't spoken to c!jack or c!tommy in months. when she hasn't even thought about apologizing or atoning.

I will not be able to accept c!niki snapping at c!wilbur and being angry, blaming him for it all, with the knowledge that she tried fucking murdering c!tommy and still hasn't apologized.

Things (or things I can remember off the top of my head) that Tubbo did during his presidency that I agree were kinda fucked up

Going through Phil’s stuff while he was under house arrest

Trying to kill Techno without a trial of any sorts/defaulting to execution instead of any other punishment in general

Shooting at Phil after the failed execution

Going back on his decision to not exile Tommy at the last minute (While I agree with his reasoning and that all things considered it was the safest move to make the other cabinet members and Tommy had the right to be angry about it and he ended up playing into Dream’s hand- which isn’t his fault, the situation was fucked from the start and I’m not blaming him for that. Just saying that the Cabinet had the right to be upset by that decision )

Things I think he was justified in doing

Putting Phil under house arrest in the first place since he was aiding a known terrorist

Going after Technoblade and arresting him in the first place (As far as The Cabinet was aware Techno was still out there and still planning on attacking L’manberg, they had no way of knowing that was retired until they actually confronted him and couldn’t risk just waiting for him to come to L’manberg ( which he had in fact snuck into L’manberg several times and never told the citizens why ) after the initial wither incident on November 16th)

( also I rewatched the part of Techno’s “Nothing goes wrong” vod where the army confronts Techno  (about 35 minutes in ) and they were in fact willing to listen to Techno when he claimed to have changed his ways. Of all people Quackity was willing to give Techno a chance to show them that he had changed his ways and said “Let’s do this peacefully”. Techno leads them to his bees... and then runs away the second they turned their backs leading to things escalating. Now I’m not faulting him for panicking and running away because he had no reason to trust them BUT at the same time this gives the army no reason to believe that he’s really changed his ways, as far as they are aware he could be just trying to escape punishment for unleashing withers in L’manberg or so he can further plot to harm L’manberg like Techno said he would the last time they all interacted and it frustrates me that I’ve seen literally no one talk about this. 

when they catch up to him Quackity does start threatening him saying they can do this “the easy way or the hard way” and Techno is the one to initiate the fight, not the other way around. Is he allowed to defend himself, yes of course! I’m not criticizing Techno’s character- I’m more just miffed about how people talk about this event. I’ve just seen people word things to make it seem like the army was the one to attack first when that’s just not true. The situation wasn’t a simple black and white one. )

once again, I appreciate the clarification but uh,

like anon, there is literally nothing worth while to take from this. op doesn’t like lore analysis and fanfic that comes from inniters so they took that and created an image of a guy in their head to get mad about. this is Literally nothing but “inniters make everything about their blorbo” but longer.

there are some things that are worth talking about that they mention in the post (even things that I’ve talked about before), but it’s not worth engaging with because they don’t have the nuance to start that conversation and they don’t care to, it’s all there to argue that inniters are the scourge of the fandom for having a guy they like that isn’t their guy.

for one Very Brief example, one of the things they called out was inniters getting upset with phil’s “advice” to tommy about not valuing people over objects. you can tell how I feel about that based on the scare quotes alone. here is an entire essay I wrote specifically disproving the idea that tommy has ever valued objects over people [Link] and here’s a post I wrote trying to put into perspective why phil saying he destroyed l’manberg as a “lesson” rubbed me the wrong way on an emotional level [Link]

there are other posts going into the specifics of why the advice wasn’t very good, but those were the essays that I made in response to the situation. it’s a conversation with a ton of nuance, but you wouldn’t know it from what op has to say about it. according to them, c!phil gave advice and it made tommy feel better so everybody should just sit down, shut up, and not think about it because it personally bothers Them to see it criticized.

once again: this is obviously, Obviously, targeted because they don’t like tommy. in the general sense, what they’re getting angry about is true across the board. techno mains are going to write meta and write fic that center techno and in turn they’re probably going to mischaracterize someone they’re less familiar with or present characters in a way that fans of that character don’t like because whatever they’re making exists in service of their favorite character. calling that an “inniter” thing is ridiculous.

“inniters mischaracterize my blorbo in their meta” yeah and I think people mischaracterize tommy when they write meta about him. that’s why I respond to them and write my own meta. wow it looks like we have the same opinion of each other but we’re separated by who it is we fixate on and care about. imagine that.

but really, to say that in a less sarcastic way, they’re angry Both about inniters mischaracterizing their faves in fan discussions and fan content And with inniters being spurred into writing said fan discussions and making said fan content because they feel like tommy is being mischaracterized. They’re allowed to be upset about it, but inniters are expected to lay down and take it because op is obviously the person that inniters should be catering to. it’s hypocritical, just like their blorbos.

the Only thing that can’t be described as them getting angry about something that’s true across the board is their apparent dislike for dark fiction. which wouldn’t be a problem on its own (it’s all about personal preference and keeping yourself safe innit), but tying it to Real morality and insisting that people who make it are being #problematic is. well it’s embarrassing.

dark sbi as a genre doesn’t exist as commentary on the characterization of the dream smp, dark sbi as a genre exists because there are people in the sbi fandom who like horror. and yes, I do mean The Sbi Fandom. I’m a frequent follower of that tag Because I Like Horror, and tommy is not always the victim of said horror. sometimes he’s a scary monster that does the Dark in the sbi like the others. I’ve seen dark sbi fic focused on phil, techno, wilbur, ranboo, tubbo, and even quackity (with the rest of the sbi acting as the source of horror).

of course, there’s different Kinds of dark sbi (less horror focused and more drama focused) but that’s besides the point.

a character with a story that involves heavy themes of horror attracted fans of horror so they made horror content. oh the humanity, won’t someone think of the children, somebody call the police and get these scum out of polite society

obviously this person doesn’t deserve harassment, nor do I actually want to engage with them in an argument. but I don’t know why anybody took this seriously. someone made an unpleasant rant that probably should’ve stayed in dms because they like seeing content that’s catered to them and dislike seeing content that isn’t. there’s nothing here that’s Worth considering, not in this context anyways

Tommy and Fundy.

Ahhh!!! Ahhh my beloveds,,,,, my scrimblo and skrunkly,,, ohgghghh my boyyss......

Seriously I cannot emphasize enough how much I would LOVE to have them interact more in lore. They're Wilbur's boys!!! Something between nephew and uncle/brothers, with so much that ties them together, and yet, they stay so separated....

There is just so much that I could get into in regards to what conflicts they could have, so I'm just gonna put them in bullet points:

Fundy holding resentment for Tommy for how he sort of 'took' his place as Wilbur's son, as his top priority. I'm still utterly haunted by how c!Wilbur first elected Tommy as president at nov 16, then Tubbo, but never Fundy. Never even thought of him. God damn it, he's not even in the fucking anthem. While Tommy is thought of as the muse of L'manberg, the one who fought for it the hardest, Fundy was just remembered as a traitor in the end.... it fucks me up so much. I would love to have Fundy be angry at Tommy for this, more subconciously I think since he's not really one to blame people like that, and that would sort of lead them to talk, and...

I would love for Fundy, through Tommy, to learn more about Wilbur. To learn what was truly happening in Pogtopia, why he left them all the way he did, how he hung out with Tommy after his revival, still.... and how he's now kinda left Tommy, too. I think Fundy would sort of imagine that Tommy had it great - that Wilbur loved Tommy more than he ever did him and trusted in him and oh, how great would it be, to be at his side, to be so valued.... only to hear Tommy talk about it all, and realize "Oh... oh, he's kind of fucked up from it all." And sort of reconsider his whole view of Wilbur, why his dad left him, and whether he would have liked to be in Tommy's shoes after all.....

(Before I scare anyone, btw, I am not a Wilbur anti, I love him very very much, this is just from their perspective)

Both of their desire for guidance. For their whole lives, they've looked for people to follow, for people to protect them. Their stories mirror each other in that way, i think... for Tommy, it was Wilbur, then Dream, then Techno, then Wilbur again, and now Phil.... and for Fundy, it was Wilbur, then Schlatt, then Quackity, and he also confided in Phil at some point like Tommy. Both of them share this energy of having daddy issues, of being so desperate for paternal figures in their lives... both of them ache so desperately for family. And so wouldn't it make sense, for them to find it through each other? They are literal family, wouldn't it be so healing for them to remember that and reconcile?

On the other hand, though, while they are prone to following others, both of them also share the want for carving a life for themselves that is their own. And while Fundy aches to have people recognise him for his achievements, to recognise him in general, Tommy mostly deals with the opposite problem of too many eyes on him, too much attention that he'd like to get away from. They share so many similarities, really - characters that used to be fairly prideful, that loved to get up to mischief, that mask their pain with humor, that are so desperate to not be alone. I think they could find a lot of solidarity in each other, and see how each of their lives suck in different ways, and, through that, sort of come to understand what they need to find that balance in life, that happiness.

Speaking of solidarity - their relationship with Schlatt/Dream. It's canon that Schlatt was an abusive asshole, and that Fundy geniunely grew to believe in him and seek his approval and even come to see him as a father figure while he felt so distant from Wilbur. All to be awaited with only scathing words and smashed bottles, when Schlatt's life came to an end. I wonder if Fundy still misses him. If he regrets ever becoming a spy. If he ever had doubts and believed in Schatt's insults, if he hates him now. There's a lot of differences between c!disk duo and Fundy and Sclatt's relationships, but there are common themes, too, and I think it would be interesting to have that be recognised. Once again, they serve as foils - Fundy's mistreatment being born in neglect, and Tommy's obsession.

Fundy is alone. He feels so painfully alone, he is such a goddamn lonely character.... which is why I think becoming friends with Tommy would be so good for him. Tommy is a people magnet, he attracts attention like moths to a flame, he's painfully social and he could help build ties for Fundy between so many other characters. That's not to say that Fundy doesn't have important and deep relationships on his own, that he couldn't find them by himself - he does, and he has. But I think, with how Tommy's also grown to be more and more of an open and genuine person with time, he could help Fundy crack his shell and step out of it a bit. I think he could help him feel actually seen.

Now, there's probably more that I could talk about, but the question remains... when, and how, would they actually come to talk? Well...

It's hard to say. In canon, they haven't shown much interest in actively interacting with each other. But if c!Tommy does move on with a plotline where he builds up a new community, sort of a new L'manburg, that could be one way for them to cross paths. Or with how Dream is out, and Las Nevadas is so panicked about it, that would naturally lend to Fundy coming to Tommy's aid. But I don't think any meaningful connection would come with that, unless the elephant in the room is brought in.... which is, obviously, Wilbur.

It pains me so much that Wilbur and Fundy haven't reconciled yet. Haven't even talked. His dad has just.... forgotten him. Still thinks of him as a traitor. I think...

I think the thing that would make Wilbur want to reach out again would be learning about exile. If he learns that he's failed one kid, in such a major way, without knowing.... maybe, hopefully, he would come to realize he had another one waiting for him, too. And with how c!crime boys healing would mean c!Wilbur healing in general, moving past his warped view of himself, maybe it would begin to strip layers of his paranoia as well, and he would begin to doubt his view of Fundy, too. Leading him to finally, finally, go talk to him. And through knowing Wilbur again, Fundy would come to grow closer to Tommy, too.

Or, maybe, a perhaps more juicy option - is that Fundy sees Wilbur supporting Tommy, just like he always has, from his perspective - always Tommy, and never him - and it leaves him to finally break. For him to confront Tommy, since Wilbur still refuses to engage with him, for him to air his grievances and try to seek an answer for why. Why he was abandoned, why he was never answered. And thus, it prompts Tommy to emphathise with Fundy, for them to talk to each other, and together... they come to face Wilbur, and heal. As a family, at last.

So..... ya!!! This is so freaking long; as you can see, I have many thoughts about them shhshdhsh,, they are my two special boys. This dynamic would probably never come to full fruition, but... one can dream. Sigh..... </333

I have- so many feelings. I’ve been trying to write an analysis since last night but everything I wrote is incomprehensible so this is an attempt: advanced apologies. Originally I wanted to make a post about C!Quackity and C!Tommy’s relationship but then it got me thinking of talking about what makes Tommy so vulnerable to manipulation even incidentally which brought me to Wilbur and Techno. So I’ve decided to just make a mishmash comparing Tommy’s relationships to these three complicated people.

Starting with Quackity I think we can all agree, Quackity GETS Tommy. In a way others on the server(like Fundy or Foolish) just straight up don’t. Quackity treats Tommy a lot like he treats Slime, with this understanding that Tommy isn’t like everyone else and won’t respond to things like others would. Because Tommy in spite of everything really does act like a kid. He acts out because of boredom or frustration especially when he’s ignored. Often others get frustrated when dealing with Tommy, but Quackity has this odd level of patience different from say Sam, Puffy or even Foolish in that he puts himself at Tommy’s level. At the start I think this was just a genuine attempt at having fun with our chaos raccoon but at the moment it’s almost patronizing(a reoccurring theme). Quackity understands that pushing Tommy will only result in property damage, but he also knows that he can’t let him run around unsupervised(because property damage). When Quackity is unaware that Tommy is listening he sounds more than a little frustrated at his antics, but then Tommy throws on a pair of pants claiming to be called Trousers and insists that he is not in fact Tommyinnit. Quackity plays along, he doesn’t try and force Tommy to stop, he humors him. This is something Quackity does a lot with Tommy, and it’s why Tommy still seems to have positive feelings towards him. Quackity humors him the way adults will humor a child who’s insisting that they are a wizard. Through this lense(which I think Quackity is fully aware of) he’s able to get Tommy into a less aggressive state and get information out him. Like why he’s working with Wilbur, and Tommy’s feelings about it. Which also unfortunately makes him super easy to use. I think in the future as Quackity slowly succumbs to the inevitable power hungry corruption that’ll bury whatever soft spot he has for Tommy, we’ll see Quackity take advantage of Tommy’s blatant abandonment issues using the trust he’s built through these small appeasement based interactions.

Moving on; C!Wilbur Soot! This is a land mine let me tell you. Because Listen, Wilbur is obviously, severely traumatized and mentally ill. I don’t think Wilbur necessarily has any malicious intentions towards Tommy. But unfortunately this bad boy is backing a fuck load of unhealthy coping mechanisms and behaviors. Such as his possessive streak! We saw with L’manburg the whole “if I can’t have you no one can!” Mentality, which has now been transferred to Tommy. It’s a move to assert his control over a situation and unfortunately for Tommy he’s a prime vessel for this behavior because he has absolutely no concept of healthy boundaries! Since his backstory and relationships are a bit blurry we can’t make any definitive explanation for where this came from but for the sake of argument let’s say Tommy has known Wilbur since he was young, and Wilbur was always someone with a possessive personality(albeit less obvious due to the fact that he wasn’t traumatized yet). Being raised by or around someone who never sets boundaries with you can lead to a person growing up not able to do so themselves. And wouldn’t you know it Tommy has clearly never had a stable healthy relationship because all of them have been transactional or codependent. Which is, bad.(shout out to Tubbo and Ranboo though for trying to enforce healthy boundaries sadly though the timing of this separation couldn’t have been worse). Currently I think it’s safe to say Wilbur and Tommy have a codependent relationship. One with a very clear imbalance of power, comparable to a codependent parent-child relationship. In which Tommy excuses Wilbur’s bad behaviors out of a sense of responsibility, this feeling that because they’re “family” he owes it to Wilbur to stay by his side. Not to mention how Tommy obviously craves guidance and leadership from paternal/fraternal figures, which he originally found in Wilbur(later in Dream, Techno and Sam afterwards). Tommy very clearly desires a family structure in which he is loved and protected no matter what, and Wilbur fills that role easily and willingly. Wilbur wants someone who’ll be loyal to him and will never leave or betray him, and Tommy wants someone who’ll protect and care for and, say it with me boys, will never leave or betray him. There isn’t anything wrong with wanting someone to be there for you, but because of their complexes and traumas these feelings of fraternal affection are twisted into a relationship lacking boundaries and for Tommy, complete absence of autonomy. Only doing things because Wilbur wants him to me, because he wants Wilbur to be happy and Wilbur is never wrong. Not a good mindset to have when dealing with someone like Wilbur who is destructive as a means of coping.

Lastly another landmine, in the form of Technoblade! Ah yes, bedrock bros. We love them and miss them. But newsflash guys they ALSO had an unhealthy transactional relationship! But here’s the thing about unhealthy relationships, sometimes people are just not good for eachother. There’s no bad guy or good guy. No ones in the right or wrong. They just, weren’t good for eachother. Now whether this was situational or not can only be answered if they reconnect with healthier mindsets but for now we’ll say it’s situational. Obviously, Tommy was clearly in a bad place. Just barely managing to escape exile after a narrowly thwarted suicide attempt: now packing a whole slew of issues, from paranoia, depression, fear of abandonment, low self worth, and just general debilitating stress. Techno was ALSO in a bad place, he just hides it under a sense of self righteous justice: like guys, his only friend was put under house arrest because of him associating with him, and he was then executed under the threat of death of his faithful horse companion. Techno was angry and blinded by revenge. A bad mix when you toss in a traumatized codependent teenager desperately searching for someone to fill the empty void of fraternal leadership left by Wilbur’s death. Tommy really just wants someone to tell him what to do, like let’s not kid ourselves here. Techno offered Tommy protection from Dream, which yay! But also creates an unbalanced power dynamic(bringing that one back!). I genuinely believe that it wasn’t Techno’s intention, but the thing is, the relationship became transactional: a “I’ll protect you and take care of you if you do what I say and help me.” Type scenario. It was impossible for Tommy to really comfortably say no, at risk of being tossed out of straight up given to Dream to face whatever horrible consequences running away had. BESIDES that, they are just two very different people who had very different priorities. Techno wanted vengeance against L’manburg, Tommy wanted to be protected but always had the intention of returning to L’manburg one day(clearly believing getting the discs would be a catch all problem solver). These two priorities are in direct conflict with eachother; as a result they’re partnership would never have worked in the long term. Here’s the kicker to what makes this relationship so unhealthy though, because those things in isolation don’t make an unhealthy relationship but the fact that Tommy’s poor mental state fueled by Techno’s blood seeking revenge made him act in ways HE deemed wrong, makes it unhealthy. Tommy wasn’t lying, being with Techno made him become a person he didn’t want to be, and it’s NOT Techno’s fault. It was the unfortunate consequence of their opposing view points and unhealthy mental states. Perhaps in a world where the Butcher Army never existed the Bedrock Bro’s team up could have been a moment of healing for both characters; but alas that was not the world we are privy to in canon.

PART 1

„FUCK,“ every motion on the bridge came to a sudden halt at your loud exclamation. „Is everything alright down there?“ asked the voice of Captain Kirk himself, who turned his head and leaned over his seat at the same time. „Captain, Sir, yes.“ you crawled out from under a panel and ripped the cables attached to your PADD off at the same time, prompting another curse, although not as loud or rude as the one before. „I’m sorry, Sir. Telemetric System C is now rebooting, the quantum processor got a bit jiggled up.“ - „I suppose jiggling up is an occurrence Mr. Scott will want to hear about.“ Kirk said, half a smile on his face. You could see at least a dozen eyes switching back to their respective posts, although most of the other present crew members were still clinging to a mug of coffee. Coffee. Nice hot coffee.

Your PADD showed the rebooting sequence and you flicked through the logfile. „Yeah, all fine, Sir. Telemetric System C is online again.“, you stuffed your PADD into your backpack. Alpha hadn’t officially started yet, but you had received another call from the bridge and had spent a delightful hour scrambling behind a control panel, running diagnostics and murmuring to yourself until you had pinned down the problem and then cut your hand on a metal edge - which prompted the aforementioned curse. „Your hand is bleeding, Lieutenant Commander Y/L/N“, the captain nodded into your direction. „It’s just a scratch, Sir.“ you assured the Captain, who shot you a look that seemed rather unconvinced. „I’ll report back to Mr. Scott and take a detour to medbay afterwards.“ „How about you make that detour now, kid.“ a pair of heavy hands landed on your shoulders, the soft drawl of the Doctor himself behind you as he started to guide you to the door. The handsome devil was known for hunting down everyone on the ship if necessary, even the captain himself. „I appreciate the concern, Doctor McCoy, but I’ve got a really important meeting at start of Alpha and Mr. Scott will flay me alive if I don’t attend it.“ „I will have to have a serious word with Mr. Scott on your behalf then.“ „Please don’t.“ you said, practically flinching at the thought. He raised an eyebrow and, to Kirks visible amusement, led you right to medbay.

When the Doctor finally released you after putting you in the dermal regenerator, of all things!, Alpha was well underway and you were skipping through Jefferies tubes to cut the way to Engineering as short as possible. You made a mental note to avoid bridge from now on. That place was definitely cursed and you now knew why security and engineering avoided that place. „Dammitdammitdammit“ you cursed as you slid down a tube, past an Ensign screaming from surprise and landing just a few meters from your Commanding Officers office with the hard ‚THUMP!‘ of heavy issue boots. You immediately picked up speed again and basically bolted through his office doors. Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott had already lifted his head from some ‚damned paperwork‘ at the commotion outside and seemed fairly unsurprised to see you standing there, panting and sweaty and overall apologetic looking. The blueish tint of the Enterprises datacenter was calming, but the cool air made your fingers go numb. You’d normally work from a remote office, but today you valued the secluded place down in the Enterprises belly. While the system worked through the data you’d fed it, you took the bandage off - if only to save yourself the trouble to go and visit medbay again tomorrow. „Hah“, you muttered, typed something on your PADD and restarted the learning algorithm. „If it wasn’t, it has to be!“ you said in a mock accent and let out a deep sigh, closing your eyes at the same time. Get some sleep.“ turning away from the PADD he saw you shrugging. „I’ll not leave the system unattended to while in this state.“ „It’s only training, the network is not even deployed, lass. If it fails during nightshift ya can get back to it tomorrow“ „Just leave it alone? Waste more time?“ you raised your shoulders and felt a deep furrow appearing on your brow. „It’s … not just any network, Sir. I’m sorry to say, Sir.“ you drew in a deep breath and pressed your lips onto each other once more. „That’s no true AI, Sir, it needs supervision. It’s … it’s …“ another deep breath: „It’s gonna be part of the Enterprises subconsciousness! If it has to feel the ships ailments for us, we have to care for it beforehand. And you want it to practically sense whatever thing you’re up to at any given moment - that takes time!“ you had not noticed how your voice had gotten gradually louder, practically yelling at him. Mr. Scotts face changed from bafflement, to a certain softness and settled on a cool expression afterwards. „Thank ya for explaining my ship to me.“, he said, voice chilly. Your mouth snapped shut. „I …“ he began and you could see behind the cool demeanor he was giving you, could see how he was trying to be the best superior he could be. „I see ya care deeply about the ship, lass. But yer gonna take care of ya self as much.“ he nodded to the bandage. The air felt even more cool against your burning face. „Sir?“ „Off ta quarters, Lieutenant. Continue tomorrow.“ „But that’s stupid! I NEED to attend to this. NOW!“ For a moment it seemed as if he wouldn’t say anything, but the outburst followed just a second later:
