how long does it take you to draw your sketches/doodles? also do you have any tips to draw faster? 🙇‍♀️

I generally take 30 - 60 minutes a sketch,,,, but honestly really depends on how detailed it is.

Like a Chibi will be done in 20 - 25 minutes (Counting in the extra time I spend on minute details like a perfectionist 😭)

I for some reason really like spending egregious amounts of time on random objects too??? Unless it’s the in the background, I’ll spend 40 minutes refining it.

Random characters that are fully colored and rendered with take like 80 minutes.

The comics take usually take an hour or two per page. (If I decide to cross hatch it, my entire day will be gone with 4 pages… so I’ve been trying to find shortcuts. But not without sacrificing the quality for time lol)

I don’t think there’s any trick or magic to drawing faster. It’s really about weaponizing your artistic knowledge, and finding what’s comfortable or convenient for you!

There was a period of time where I would spend 11 or 12 hours on an illustration, and it wASS UGLYYYYY. (Some of these artworks are still available on my tumblr,,, but it’s SO LONG AGO, AND IT WAS MY 1ST OR 2ND YEAR GETTING INTO DIGITAL ART)

Overtime I learned what worked best for me, and practiced till I felt more comfortable with what I was drawing. Eventually I managed to shorten the time to 4 hours or less! Ambition was my biggest enemy but at the same time my biggest motivator. (And it still is LMFAO) 😭

EDIT (bit more to my way too long tangent): ALSO??? BRO DON’T BE AFRAID TO USE YOUR MESSY SKETCH AS LINEART OR DRAW ON TOP OF IT. I’VE DONE IT FOR YEARS NOW AND IT ADDS SUCH A GOOD EXTRA BIT OF TEXTURE,, AT THIS POINT I DON’T EVEN USE LINE-ART ANY MORE UNLESS IT’S A COMMISSION,, (IT’LL ADD LIKE AN 2-4 HOURS TO MY WORK)

Also I feel like I have to say this but FUCK Toy Story 4. Awful movie, bad execution, poor excuse for a sequel.

#they stopped animating several of the toys like TOYS. they completely lost track of what made the first 3 films so charming #which was the fact that woody runs like a puppet and the barbies move like they can’t bend their legs (because they can’t)#and just in general everyone moves awkwardly. they completely fucked it up. bo peep used to move like she was on wheels #why is she now an action girl?? they made her look COMPLETELY different. i think they heard strong female character and assumed #they had to make bo a karate kicking badass. my girl was a badass when she was a solid fucking doll who had basically no movement #in her bottom half #woody would never have abandoned a kid; buzz’s weird psychic inner voice was lazy writing #they utilised the humans WAY too much for my liking. it’s TOY story not story of bonnie’s family #they had the toys break rules near constantly. they didn’t have a good villain #they didn’t use hamm or potato head or jessie or bullseye or rex anywhere near enough #whyyyyyy bring on extra comedy relief characters when YOU HAVE HAMM RIGHT THERE #i feel like the writers didn’t want to bother writing funny sarcasm and wordplay for hamm or just didn’t trust gen alpha kids to understand #it; so they brought in key and peele to do slapstick instead. which is fine but like. the supporting cast literally MADE TS2&3 #why are you not utilising them. is it to justify paying the actors less? because they only got a couple of lines each #there was no good villain. the ventriloquist dummies were creepy and had potential and i honestly thought gabby was going to be the next #lotso; but no one had the guts to go through with it #there was no one to hold a candle to sid or al or lotso or even zurg #i honest to god feel like i could’ve written a better movie. i know someone will pop up like ‘but you didn’t!!’#yeah because i’m not getting paid by fucking disney. if you want a screenplay i’ll write one girl #just don’t act like this film was good. it was boring and the writing was lazy #personal

cool so my ent just made my ear bleed. im never going back to see her again.

#purrs #i go in every 3 weeks to get my ears cleaned out bc i have chronic issues including w*x build up and she was SO fucking aggressive. i saw #her for all of TWO FUCKING MINUTES and she didn’t even bother to look before she started trying to clean and she was really rough with the #instrument and really hurt my one bad ear taking out the w*x and i was asking her questions about flying and she was completely dismissing #me and shutting me down and telling me to put mineral oil drops or debrox in my ear when SHE is the one who told me earlier not to put any #liquid in my ears. and i was in her chair for all of two minutes and when she left i realized MY FUCKING EAR WAS BLEEDING because she was so #aggressive with the tool she abraded the skin and didn’t even care to check if my ear was clear or bleeding or whatever after she left. im #so fucking angry and in pain. what the FUCK. you are my ent. you KNOW i have chronic issues in that ear specifically. can you not be slow a #and gentle when you see me. can you not give me more than five minutes of your time when i only see you every THREE MONTHS. i just am so #angry and distraught. fuck her and fuck that entire office. it’s so unpleasant being there i am fucking done.#ask to tag #like can you not be delicate. There always seems to be one kid who just screams like a tornado siren, all day long, at any given opportunity. Like, kid, I love you, you are precious and deserve all the happiness in the world; but please for the love of god shut up. There are people trying to learn here and you’re not helping them or yourself.

#I don’t like being harsh with people in general but if one child is raising the tension in the room to a fever pitch every single day #making it incredibly hard for the kids who are trying really really hard to focus when they already have focus issues #and because I know this specific kid gets absolutely spoiled rotten at home and is allowed to do whatever they want #you know… sometimes it helps to show the kid how they sound to others by demonstrating the obnoxious nature of The Scream #because when the parents do Jack Shit about teaching their kid discipline and courtesy; you have to be a parent in their stead #But do NOT continue to scream. You are an adult with adequate emotional control. Screaming should be be done EXTREMELY sparingly #and only utilized for demonstration purposes or to stop a brawl; not for bullying or intimidation #Don’t do a JoJo Siwa and TRY to make kids cry even though you may get stressed enough that you want to escalate on purpose #Again: you are an adult with adequate emotional control; don’t escalate unless the overreaching plan is to deescalate #if eliciting a startle response will stop harmful behavior and “snap them out of it” for long enough for you to get through #or if they just need to let all their emotions out at once so they can lose enough of that high energy to think critically #then sure #but you have to guide them back down very carefully and calmly; it’s a precise science #Don’t be mean about it; be genuine in your feelings and don’t go overboard. Genuine ≠ mean unless you’re evil #Or if you don’t feel emotions very strongly (like I do) then react like a “normal” person. Lie about being angry or sad if it is appropriat #Again: Your goal should not be to get the kid to do what you want; the goal should be to get them to feel good enough #so they are ABLE to do it in the first place #And the goal should also be to show them how their actions affect others if they are not aware of it #“Teach a man to fish” and all that. Don’t always check them; get them to check themselves #If a kid hits another kid when they’re angry at something completely unrelated; then 1.) redirect destructive behavior #and 2.) walk them back over to the kid they hurt and say:#“Look at [name]; look how sad you made them. [name] didn’t do anything to you #It’s okay to be angry but we CANNOT hit people when we are angry because it hurts and makes them cry.” Works great #Always remember there is a power imbalance inherent in EVERY child-adult relationship and NEVER abuse it #And if you’re not patient or emotionally stable enough to work with or have children; then don’t. Please don’t.#Children are not cute little dolls to play dress-up with; nor are they perfect angels; nor are they your personal stress ball #Having children is NOT A GAME. They are PEOPLE who will grow to be your age one day and everything you do affects them #Sorry I’m just tired of all these parents who shove iPads in their kids faces so they don’t bother them.
