Hear Me Out Cake Event!!

This is the wildest idea for an event I've had but... HEAR ME OUT!!!

In this event, we'll be putting our own tickly twist on the hear me out cake trend!! For our hear me out cake, we'll put the characters we'd like to see get tickled on the cake!! >:) I'll explain more below the cut, but I'd also like to extend an invitation for other creators to jump on this event if they'd like!! :D The event will be starting next week on January 12, so keep an eye out for that!

Here's a quick summary of the event, but I will also explain more hehehe~ There are three stages to this event! The first stage is the Hear Me Out!! stage, where you'll pick out a character you'd like to put onto the cake! The second stage is where all of the characters on the cake are announced, which I'm calling the Big Slice or Little Slice stage! The final stage is called Serving the Cake, and it is where the cake is sliced and all the characters on the cake are given a slice of cake (in the form of tickles! >:D)

Hear Me Out!! Stage:

The first stage of the event! This will run from Jan. 12 through Jan. 18 and will be everyone's opportunity to submit a character for the cake! To submit a character, just send me an ask with the character you'd like to submit for the cake! Please specify the fandom as well :) If you'd like to go above and beyond, then feel free to explain why you want to put this character on the cake!! I'll be posting the asks as they come in before posting the final list of characters, so this is where we can all get silly and talk about the characters we love!

One note for this event: I'm really hoping the community gets together for this event, so if there's a character from a fandom that's not on my personal fandom list, still send them in!! I'll be writing for characters that I know about, but if there's a character that you love, you should send them in! If I don't know them, maybe someone else will end up picking them!

Big Slice or Little Slice Stage:

The second stage of the event! This stage will start on Jan. 20 when the full list of characters is posted! During this stage, any creator can pick out however many characters they'd like to write for and start creating whatever they'd like for them!! Art, fics, whatever you'd like to make! There's no limit on who you can write for or draw in this event but also don't feel pressure to create something for every character on the list!

Another note: The dates after the Hear Me Out!! stage are all pretty iffy just so y'all know! Ideally I'll have the list up on Jan. 20 but it could be later, and also the time frame for the Slicing the Cake stage is super flexible for creators! Don't feel pressure to stick within that time (I will for sure be posting outside of the time given haha)

Serving the Cake Stage:

The final (and most fun!) stage of the event! This stage will start on Feb. 3, two weeks after the full list of characters is shared! This is when anyone can start posting their slices of character cake onto Tumblr to share! You are also more than welcome to post before this time, it's just a rough time frame hehe~ If you're participating in this event, please use the tag #cakes and tickles so that everyone can follow along with the event! It's a terrible tag but it'll work haha! There's no technical time limit on the event, but I was thinking the posting period could be from Feb. 3 through Mar. 3 just for a fun little "month" of cake! But like I said before there is absolutely no pressure to do it within that time frame, just make sure to have fun if you decide to participate!! Sendoh would be the type to post very sporadically. Either he posts multiple times in ome day or he goes months without posting. No inbetweens.

His posts would be a mix of pretty scenic places he visits and then tiktok dances with people from other teams. He’d just ask them if they wanted to make a tiktok with him 😭 especially Sakuragi lmfaoo. He would ask Rukawa to make a video with him too BUT HE’D ALWAYS REFUSE. I see him making videos with Maki often too

I don’t see him being on Tiktok very often (or even social media in general) but I think the kind of posts he would like/repost would be videos of pretty places, things to do different places, funny cat videos, and then an occasional basketball video. He’d would NOT be the type to be thirsty on social media 💀 like he’d see a pretty girl on his fyp, briefly acknowledge shes pretty, and then scroll.

Maki would be the guy who doesn’t post often but when he does, it’s high quality basketball clips or training montages that look straight out of an ad for a sports brand LMFAOOO. His captions would be something simple like, “Keep grinding.” 😂

He doesn’t care about clout but his account would blow up anyways because people would thirst over him in the comments like, “Idk who this is, but I’m in love.” OR THEYD CALL HIM DADDY OR SOME CRAZY SHIT LIKE THAT

His FYP would be full of basketball drills, motivational videos, and maybe the occasional travel TikTok. He’d like the cool scenic ones and might even recreate them when he goes on trips with the team.

I don’t see him thirsting over girls on Tiktok but he might follow a pretty girl back occasionally. And they’d be swooning so bad omg 😭

Akira had asked you to help her film a video for her tik-tok account. This was pretty common because since you started dating, she always wanted to show you off on every social media she has so everyone would know you're both taken

That language SAGAU but the Reader can only communicate writing on paper.

Either the Reader is mute and they (characters) don't know/understand sign language or they somehow lost their voices on their transmigration to Teyvat and can only write now. But the characters are left trying to decipher what the Reader wrote.

"YES!" Mammon celebrates, patting Beelzebub on the back with one hand, using the other to stop his phone recording and post the video. "The perfect take for my latest FabSnap vid! Who knew you'd be so good at air guitar?"

"I like rock music," Beel shrugs, looking at his wrist. He notices he isn't wearing a watch, so he glances up at the clock on Mammon's bedroom wall instead. "When do I get the snack you promised? It's almost time for my linner."

Mammon raises an eyebrow. "The hell’s a ‘linner’?"

Beel pauses. Humming thoughtfully, he stays silent, tilting his head to the side. A minute passes. Mammon makes a weird face, impatient.

"... Should I be saying dunch? But that’s only one letter for ‘dinner’ and four for ‘lunch’…"

"Bro - oh my Diavolo." The older brother rolls his eyes, exasperated. "Whatever, whatever. Your snack's in the kitchen - c'mon. I bought you some fries and they'll get soggy if we don't hurry." He then adds, mumbling, “I think it’s meant’a be ‘dinch, anyway…”

Eyes lighting up, Beel uses an arm to half-grab Mammon in a crushing, grateful side hug; and half-push him eagerly out the room, dragging the both of them down the hall and closing the door behind him.

... An ominous creak. A shadowy figure slides into the room and fixes its gaze on Mammon's phone. It's still fixed to a tripod, forgotten in Beel's hurry to get its owner to the kitchen, and is still playing the newly-posted video the two brothers had just filmed. They seem to be dancing to a recently-popular song, which has an accompanying dance trend on FabSnap.

The mysterious figure watches, eyes studying - analysing - every dance move. The dance seems easy enough, it thinks.

A brief pause. The figure approaches the tripod, reaches into its pocket and replaces Mammon’s phone with its own.

The figure opens the FabSnap app and hits record.

You hum to the song playing on your phone, tapping twice on Mammon's new video. He's bouncing on his bed and playing air-drums, whilst Beel head-bangs stoically and strums his air-guitar. Replaying it for the seventeenth time doesn’t make it any less funnier; and you lean back in your seat as you giggle, carefree. You have a perfect-tasting smoothie in your hand, and tomorrow isn't a school night. You have no assignments, no homework, and no stress as you watch two of your favourite people goof of on social media. All is good and right with the world.

Except... You hear thumping. Coming from Mammon's room. Even though - just a few seconds ago - Mammon and Beel had come through the common room to get to the kitchen. Mammon had even stolen your phone to pull up his newest video for you, emphasising that he and Beel were the only ones in the room (and heavily hinting that you should have joined them).

So what was that thumping?

Reluctantly setting down your smoothie on the nearest table, you tiptoe out of the room and crouch next to Mammon's door, leaning your ear against it.

... There is definitely someone there.

You decide to gather more intel first, pulling out your phone to open up the House of Lamentation group chat, just in case. Luckily, the door is just a crack open.

You place an eye over the crack in the door.

... And you close the Chat app, raise your hand and take a video instead.

You head back to the common room, take a seat, and sip at your incredibly-delicious smoothie; completely satisfied. All is good and right with the world.

Well - except one thing.

you impatiently waited for him to finish showering and exit the bathroom. as you heard the bathroom door creak open, you practically whipped your head around to face kai. he looked at you with a hint of confusion in his eyes, he had a towel in his hand as he was rubbing the towel against his glistening strands of blonde hair. you quickly got up as you walked up to him, 

“hey baby .. ?” you said in a slightly persuasive tone in your voice, holding your phone behind your back. he looked at you as he laughed a little, “hm? what do you need this time?” he said gently. he looked at you lovingly, though you knew, whatever you asked him, he would probably do it. because according to him “he loves you too much to say no”.

you smile a little at him as you showed him your phone and the video you saw earlier, he watched the video fully as he looked at you. “you want.. me? to let you tie a pink bow.. around my arm?” he asked you with a slightly confused tone in his voice. 

you eagerly nod at him, “mhm! please? pretty please?” you pleaded. he laughed at your adorable behaviour as he nodded at you, “how could i say no?” he said whilst he smiled at you, he looked as if he was ready to do anything for you. if you told him to jump, he would've probably asked “how high”.

you dragged him over to a cleaner area of your apartment as you clicked stuff on your phone to get the lana del ray audio. you then set your phone down as you scurry around your apartment, looking for a pink ribbon to tie around his arm. you then opened a drawer as you found some pink ribbon. you cut a reasonable amount of it as you walked back up to him. you then tie it around his arm and tried to make the bow look as perfect as possible.

he looked at your focused face with a smile, “you look cute while being this focused by the way..” he muttered under his breath, a small flush of rosy pink gradually appearing on his cheeks. you smile at his comment as you finally got the bow tied perfectly!

you take your phone and started recording. as you were recording him, he practically couldn't stay still. he was giggling and laughing as he found it a little embarrassing.

Aaaaa thank you so much kakey! I posted the ghosts of you and me in August 2020 and even though I am aware of some of its technical flaws and even though it's been 4.5 years since then in which time I have written many other stories I am fond of, it remains still the favourite thing I have written. To the point that if someone was only going to read one story by me, or my fics were going to get destroyed and I could only save one, it would be that one. So it means a whole lot to me that it's a fave of yours too :') This got long so under the rest under the cut-

To offer actual commentary, a little known fact is that to me ghosts is a part of a duo, with my willypasta fic, between your love and mine, its spiritual companion. While they are for two very different ships in two different fandoms, they both explore the damage wrought by not only homophobia but being forced to choose between two warring parts of your identity and being told they must always be at odds, that one negates the other.

In between your love and mine, that pressure and danger is acute: you have two young men who are told they must choose between hockey and one another, whose wings are clipped before they can learn how to fly. Ghosts then is the flip side of that coin: Carra and Gary are both retired. Gary has been quasi-out within his own circles for years, and there is very little actual risk from them pursuing a relationship now. And yet part of the reason why they crash and burn so spectacularly the first time around is because they too have been mangled by the same pressure and forced choice in all the time they were playing, and just because the actual danger goes away does not mean its effects do too.

I have personally always felt this same tension and choice between on one hand being queer and on the other Turkish, where both sides seem to say: choose. And ultimately that's what both stories are - an exploration of that, refracted through a prism of hockey and football, and probably why they are so dear to me.

In that way the Leonard Cohen lyrics I used for between your love and mine apply equally to both stories: I wish there was a treaty we could sign. It’s over now, the water and the wine. We were broken then, but now we are borderline. And I wish there was a treaty; I wish there was a treaty, between your love and mine.

Finally, re ghosts, I do think about your point that making gnev the Gay One TM is not the most sensible trend fandom follows, and what the story may have looked like, were their roles switched - because I think you are onto something.

Gummy Masks: Cherry - flavored gummies that resemble the traditional fox mask. When bitten into, you’d notice the jelly filling inside each gummy, leaving you with an almost cinnamon- like aftertaste in your mouth.
