AAHHH been wanting to do this ask for a while and i finally have my thoughts sorted out 😭🙏 this is gonna have sooo much unnecessary plot but ya’ll know how i roll 😭

Looking at the 2D models for the event characters though… They aren’t bad, but definitely not my style. I feel like the individual elements can look good, but it’s a bit much when out all together…

Not sure if I’m a fan of Jamil’s super baggy pants or Azul’s wide sleeves; I would have liked them tailored more. Azul’s sleeves would be fine if not for the current position in the pose; I believe they are supposed to “open” due to the generous slit in it, similar to the Pomefiore dorm uniform sleeves. As it’s depicted here, it’s stiff.

Ace looks the least odd to me of the group overall, but I do like Jamil’s hair, jacket, and makeup in the 2D model (it’s Too Much for me in the card initial art, probably bc the pose places his braid in the middle of his face and looks a little out of place). Azul really got the short end of the stick… His hair lost a lot of volume which saddens me :(( I like his usual floofier hair… Jamil and Azul’s coats also look a little heavy because of how the gems are concentrated on their lapels, not sure how comfy that would be to walk around in.

I appreciate Vil’s look for what it is (he is the concept of gender itself), but I don’t really care for the low cut top or the gloves…? (I noticed several people pointing out how they look like the Thanos gloves which makes me giggle 😂) The hair and coat itself are fine, but again I find the makeup to be too heavy.

Again, don’t hate the them but don’t love’m either. There was definitely a lot of thought put into these looks from the devs, it just appeals to a certain crowd that doesn’t include me. Maybe I don’t get high fashion www but really, I think it’s just the 2D models making the outfits unflattering?? They look a lot better in all the fan art I’ve seen, so maybe the real problem is that the construction of them appears stiff and immobile in the game specifically.

What I will say, however, is that the chibi animations are very cute! I love seeing Vil strut around… and it’s sort of funny seeing Ace and Jamil fight with makeup and perfume.

Ngl it was relatively easy to think of pony names for these characters since i've had the idea to make this for a while so i've had a lot of time to think about it lol

For yuriko: i chose the name "flawless lace" because in her regular form, i specifically chose the name "yuriko" for her because it means "perfect" so i wanted to try and include that aspect into her pony name. Some considered names for her were "perfect storm" and "lily lace" since the "yuri" part of her name means "lily" (though i decided against it bc i remembered that's the name of an actual pony in MLP...) the markings on her legs are meant to sorta mirror the stockings she wears in her usual form

For sprite: i chose the name "baby carrot" simply because that was a actual name i considered for her normal form before i decided on "sprite" (which is kinda funny since a big part of sprite's character is that she likes apples.....a food that is basically as different from carrots as it can get) she is a goat-alicorn hybrid because she's normally a deltarune OC, specifically a fankid of kris and ralsei; with the latter being a prince from the dark who is also a goat monster

For carrie: a big part of her backstory is that she named herself, she's literally a carrot that decided to be human one day (...or pony, in this case) and is trying to fit into civilsation as best she can; so i tried to give them a pony name that sorta fits that, and so i named them "carrot mulch" because i could totally imagine her trying to introduce themself to someone and doing that one trope in movies where the main character doesn't want to share their real name and just looks around the room for things to call themself lol. I also decided to make her a blank-flank since she probably hasn't spent that long a time as a pony and therefore wouldn't have a cutie mark despite appearing fully grown

For makeighlyn i feel like my choices are pretty straight forward, the character is a girls' flash game mascot created by a christian fundamentalist cult who somehow escaped into the real world and now works as a demon slayer so i decided to give her a name and cutie mark that reflects that. The only thing that i feel is worth mentioning is that i find it interest how the amount of pink in her design makes the blue in her hair look a lot darker...either that or i might've accidentally hue-shifted it or something

Choese is another pretty straightforward one, he's a flirty cheese-themed mouseboy so i gave him a heart-shaped cheese cutie mark and named him "gouda squeaks" because he's a fucking rodent. (Sidenote: i love smoked gouda so goddamn much omg)

Lastly for crystalline i decided to make her a breezie since she's normally a fairy and y'know....breezies are just the MLP equivalent to fairies....i also decided to name her "fee-fee breezie" since breezies usually have really cutesy names in the show (some of them straight up have references to their species in their names), the "fee-fee" part of her name is short for "feelings" since crystalline is an emotion fairy

Y'know when i first created crystalline back when i was like, 10 i was going through a phase where i just VIOLENTLY hated things for no reason (specifically things from MLP such as the vampire fruit bats, flurry heart and the manta hawk from the IDW comics) to the point that i would make them out of polymer clay JUST so i can make my pony toys kill them (i was a weird kid, needless to say) one of these things being the breezies....so ngl i feel like the fact that i made crystalline a breezie is really fucking ironic lol

you were growing it out before the apocalypse broke out, and you soon realized that it would be almost impossible to have it cut again. it was down to your ass at this point, maybe even longer. it was such a hassle to brush it every day, multiple times at that.

as Enid ran her fingers through your hair, her fingers suddenly got stuck in a knot. you hissed as a first initial reaction, and Enid panicked, “oh my god, i’m so sorry! are you okay?”

“i’m fine.” you chuckled. “i really hate how long my hair is gotten though.” you said with a pout. “it’s so hard to take care of now. i just want to- chop it all off but i’m scared.”

you then changed your position between her legs so you could look at her. you stared to run your fingers through her short strands. “i want my hair to be like yours. its so beautiful. it barely gives you problems and i want that too. but every time i pick up the scissors i get nervous and back out of it. but i’m so sick and tired of dealing with this mess.” you ranted, and you didn’t even realize that you were.

but Enid listened intently, not forgetting a single word you said. she smiled, messing with the messy locks of hair.

it felt like a light bulb suddenly appeared above Enid, “i could cut it for you!” she exclaimed. your eyes widened slightly, “what? are- are you sure?”

“yes! i cut Maggie’s hair a few years back! i want to cut it for you, it can be like mine, just like you said.” she giggled, ruffling your hair teasingly.

even though it wasn’t you doing the cutting, it still worried you. what if you hated how it looked afterwards? what if Enid hated it?

you took a deep breath, “okay. lets do it.” Enid clapped and pulled you up, dragging you to the kitchen. she pushed you down into a chair and left you there as she went to find a towel and the scissors.

your heart raced the longer she was gone. this was actually happening. almost all of your hair would be chopped off finally.

Enid skipped back into kitchen, a blue pair of scissors in her hands. “don’t run with scissors!” you whined. “you’re gonna fall and hurt yourself.”

“it’s very rude to underestimate your girlfriend. are you ready?” with a playful roll of your eyes and a laugh, you nodded. “yeah, i’m ready. i think.”

Enid brushed your hair back and picked up the scissors. “before i do the first cut, you need to tell me if you’re absolutely sure about this, love.”

“i’m sure.” you said. “just nervous.”

“don’t be. you’ll be okay.” you closed your eyes as she brought the scissors down to the end of your hair. she gripped the end and started to slice the scissors through your hair.

“look.” Enid mumbled. you opened your eyes, and Enid held up the chunk of your hair that she just cut off. “oh my god.” you choked out, “i’ve never had it cut like this before. it’s just… it’s weird to see.”

“want me to keep going?” she asked, setting down the chunk of your hair. “yeah,” you nodded. “cut it like yours.”

Enid continued to cut off inches at a time, setting them down next to you. you could feel the back of your head getting lighter as she kept going. it was a new feeling. a good feeling.

after a few minutes, you started to feel your hair tickle your neck. that was new. “i’m done!” Enid exclaimed. before you could answer, she shoved a mirror into your hands. “do you like it?”

you panned the mirror on you, freezing as you stared at your new hair, it changed how you looked entirely, it took you a moment to even recognize yourself.

slowly, you turned your head left and right, looking at it from all angles. it was so different, you couldn’t process it. but… you loved it.

“i love it.” you whispered. Enid smiled widely, “really?” she asked. you nodded, “y-yeah, you did amazing, baby.”

“you look amazing.” she said, leaning down to kiss your head. “god, you really do look different. but like, in a really hot way.”

you furrowed your eyebrows and broke into laughter, Enid following. you stood up and pulled her into a hug. “thank you for doing this, Enid. seriously.”

“anytime.” she mumbled into your neck, kissing the spot in front of her lips. “there’s one downside though.” she said.

you were silent for a moment, “and what’s that?”

Enid sighed, “tugging on your hair when you’re eating me out.” you gasped and hit her shoulder lightly, “Enid!”

this has been sitting in my askbox since september and im really sorry anwsering took so long, but ive been trying to articulate how the last few chapters/last episode made me feel and im still not sure, because there have been so many bizzare choices made by both asagiri and the ppl behind the anime i still cant wrap my head around it fully (this got stupid long sorry)

starting with fukuzawa, i made a post a while back talking abt how i was assuming he was going to die/why it'd make a lot of sense, and there were really two main reasons for that; 1. he hasnt had anything interesting to offer for the story for a while and 2. his ability actively stops other important characters (mainly atsushi and kyouka) from further developement. the first thing is now gone which im pretty happy with! i love fukuzawa a lot so it's nice to see him finally have a purpose in the main story and im excited to see where it will go (also fukufuku you will always be famous to me <3333333), but the issue of his ability is still very much here. ive seen ppl theorize that all men are equal is just him lying and there is no ability but i honest to god would hate that, bc it would seem like such a shallow twist. atsushi's conflict with the tiger is central to his character so if it suddenly got revealed that a huge reason why he's even capable of using his power is just placebo "believe in yourself" bullshit i think i'd tear my own hair out. so im still thinking fukuzawa may get killed at some point, esp with the position he's been put into now and how much he seems to not want it.

and as for the "chuuya was never a vampire" fiasco, i honestly have no words, it was so unbelievably bad. ik there's been a ton of posts about how "its actually good" bc fyodor's death was caused by his inability to trust, and dazai's belief in his allies is what put him at an advantage, which is nice yeah, but it doesnt change how fucking stupid of a plan that was. if their goal is to kill fyodor, why not do it in that flooded room? fyodor escapes solely bc chuuya gets him out but if he was concious the entire time why not just leave him there? why continue to pretend? im usually not a huge fan of getting angry over plot holes when the narrative and themes are whats more important, but this is just so blantantly stupid. it feels like asagiri just wanted a plot twist for a plot twist's sake. mersault in general is so poorly constructed as an arc (dazai communicating via his heartbeat,,,, give me a break) but at least you'd hope it would end in a way that makes you excuse all of that, and then it doesn't. i think this post sums up how i feel about this than i ever could

and the fact that its december and we are STILL behind the fucking anime asagiri be so for real. it's easy to see now that the constant half chapters and short releases were a deliberate choice to have the anime catch up which i dont love, but fine, whatever. but now??? what the point of half releases? these chapters have been ready for a long time, and there's no way asagiri and the editors and whoever else is involved arent aware of how frustrated the readers have been for years now. the only explanation i can think of is that maybe the manga will have a different arc conclusion and ctheyre trying to idk, make it seem like we're following the anime closely? idk this shit is so stupid

overall this past arc or two have been bad, there are some elements that make them enjoyable still, but there is no theme consistency and overreliance on cliff hangers (that ppl still somehow buy). it feels like there are no stakes to the story, and that's really bad. maybe it's why i was hoping for fukuzawa to be killed alongside fukuchi idk, it'd finally feel like something is changing

Your Kent Parson work is incredible!! How do you paint something like that??

Thank you, Anon!! It look me like nine hours to finish it - I’m very proud.

If you’re asking about my actual process, I typically rely on a few reference photograph images for the actual pose bc I’m a cheater and life is short. I outline the overall location and angles of the body parts using the reference photographs, but ofc end up making a million changes to fit the face/hairstyle/body type for the character.

From there, I draw out the features - sometimes pulling from reference photographs, more often by hand (Kent was by hand, though the expression was definitely inspired by the pose model lol). Transform tool and layers are definitely your friends here.

Then the important next step is to lay down a whole lot of block colors to establish where bone structure/facial angles will reflect light in different ways. I use a LOT of photograph references from different angles for color blocking because I’d have to be a master artist to do that shit from memory lmao.

Once I’m happy with my blocking and the general feel of the character, I’m finally ready to paint. I don’t like obvious outline lines in my digital paintings and tend to prefer using color to create the features instead. So I usually mute my outline real low and go WAAAAY too deep down the rabbithole of recreating the effect of lines and definition for each feature. It takes FOR-EV-ER, but I love the effect:

I hate drawing hair with every fiber of my being, but it’s generally the same process. I luckily have a good brush to save me some time. Thank god.

I usually try to create clothing using a similar process, but I got lazy on Kent’s drawing bc I was already 8 hours in. So I just pulled a photograph of a hockey player wearing a white jersey and literally trace-colored the jersey. Hence the weird hyperrealistic effect on that element of the work. I’m cringing just looking at it 😅😅

Last step of painting is to use the transform tool to make any edits to the features of the piece, if something seems weird when looking at the overall effect. Embarrassed to say there’s usually a LOT of transform tool use at this stage.

To master, I apply a blur effect to mask any weird pixelation resulting from Procreate Whimsy™ - it makes the piece look a little better and more “painted”. Then I usually throw the work through an Adobe Lightroom filter to help with any weird coloring issues.

…and that’s about it! It’s definitely a technique native to digital art - there is no undo button or transform tool on paper - and I still see a million mistakes with every work I do. But it’s certainly a fun hobby!!

❥ ҉ a/n : i wasn’t even planning on writing today but this suddenly came to me and i had to write it out. + i was too lazy to set this up like a official fic bc it was suppose to be something short but i got carried away, so here we are. i just want druig to make my problems go away ugh :(

“n-no! please s-stop!” your meek voice whimpers out into the air as you began to twitch and thrash around while your eyes remained closed shut.

the movement and sound immediately awakening druig up from his slumber right next to you, his eyes swarming with worry as he sees you struggling in your sleep; indicating a nightmare. “let me go! no stop!” you continued to wave your arms around frantically as your cries got louder and louder.

druig hated seeing you like this. not caring about getting hit by your hands, druig went to calm you and wake you up.

“my love, i need you to wake up. s’ not real, s’ not real” the mind controller shook your shoulders as lightly as he can but firmly as well, trying to get you to wake up.

his words didn’t hit your ears yet as you kept crying and pushing against him, still stuck in the terrifying nightmare.

“y/n!” at the sound of druig’s voice raising just slightly and the feeling of his hands shaking you, your eyes opened up widely. fear and sadness lacing your features as you gasp.

“my love, it was just a dream” at that moment it was like something clicked in your brain as you heard his thick accent softly speaking to you, you stared at the man’s face for a second. your fingers lightly tracing the scarred skin there.

“y-you’re here?”

the eternal nods with the softest smile you’ve ever seen.

“of course i’m here, i’m not going anywhere”

his words made your eyes glass over as your face shrunken, the appending tears falling down your face as the thoughts from your nightmares came over. you hurried to wrap your arms around druig who immediately held you tightly in his chest.

little coo’s left his lips as he held you while you cried, waiting until you calm down a bit to start to talk to you.

“what was it about this time, my y/n?” his question just made you cry even harder against the skin of his bare chest, the feeling of wetness from your tears uncomfortable to druig but he didn’t care about that.

“baby, hey. look at me” druig softly commands, when he met your glossy eyes he gave you a encouraging nod.

“t-these people were trying to k-kill you druig, and they w-wouldn’t let me help-“ you cut your words short with a sob that ached the depths of druig’s heart.

“hey hey, cmere s’alright” his rough hands began caressing your hair and your back as he comforted your shaking body, the scene of you shaken up from this saddening him. “you know i’m a eternal, love. how would those people ever have a chance against me? druig lowly chuckled playfully, trying to lighten the air around you both. frowning, when he didn’t manage to make you smile or giggle as usual. this nightmare must’ve hit home.

“please make it stop…” you muffled against his neck, the words coming out jumbled to the eternal as he heard them. he gently moved your head away from his neck, his hands moving the hairs away from your face as he studied your beautiful features.

“what is it, beautiful?”

“please make them go away” druig brows furrow together, his thumb moving down to swipe a tear that fell down your eye away.

“make what go away?”

“the nightmares, druig please make it all stop. i can’t take it anymore, please-“

“shh, baby” druig pulls you back into him as you started sobbing once more, his lips kissing your head as he let you let out everything against him. after a couple of passing minutes he pulls you away, nodding with the most genuine smile etched across his face. he’s sure it’s the most genuine he’s smiled in centuries.

he’s nods, a little “okay” slipping from him.

“you’re sure?” he asks, wanting to know for sure before he does anything. when he gets conformation from you, he leans in. a sweet, sweet kiss that was filled with nothing but love locking you both together.

when he pulls back, your irises were glowing with a glowing golden hue before they start to flicker, soon closing all together.

“sleep peacefully, my darling”
