yandere viktor with an innocent and naive reader but with magical abilities, where the reader knows how to use simple magic like conjuring plants or controlling water... ((the reader only knows the basics of magic, since no one taught it and this magic would be the only one so far who knows how to do it, and the reader was a little scared of being in a rush or being studied like a lab rat because she has magic, but she confided her secret to Viktor...)) Why do you do that?
Y!Viktor x GN!Mage!Reader
a/n: posting this before act 2 omg, i think i need a rewatch â btw this one only has very light yandere undertones,, ..erm
đŠ ;
"Psst. Hey, want to know a secret?"
Viktor blinked. His eyes followed the moving reflection on the iridescent river. Your figure was mirrored in the water, an unreadable expression on your face.
... He looked up, alarmed. Were you talking to him? Viktor didn't even know you.
You met his amber eyes. For whatever reason, on the edge of the cliff just above the water, you folded your legs against your chest and buried half your face in your arms.
"Well?" you pushed, voice muffled.
His mouth opened, then closed. Viktor nodded wordlessly instead.
" ... Promise me you won't tell anyone."
Without a moment's hesitation, the young boy nodded again.
He watched as you stood up and jumped steadily into the river, splashing him and his mechanical boat. A low, frustrated groan escaped him as water seeped into his clothes.
"Oh, sorry," you said as he tried to wipe the water from his face. "Let me get that for you."
Suddenly, Viktor felt his weight gradually become less unpleasantâalmost refreshing, even, as if the water slid across and away from his skin and clothes.
That's when he saw it.
A small blob of water, floating in the air. It moved carefully like it was fragile.
Then came another, and another. Small specks came together until it formed one single bubble.
Abruptly, it dropped in the river. Like nothing ever happened. Viktor's eyes widened in disbelief.
"Cool, right?" you grinned. He looked at you with furrowed eyebrows, his jaw gaping. One of your hands was lifted, fingers poised in a manner of delicacy.
"You," Viktor finally spoke, stammering, his breathing ragged. "You did that? Was that... magic?"
You chuckled, settling yourself beside him. He turned to you, scooting over to make room, and met your steady gaze. âI think so. But I was serious when I said never, ever tell anyone.â
He shook his head, utterly appalled. "Is this some sort of trick?"
"I wishâ"
âThis is not funny,â he snarled, his demeanor shifting completely, catching you off guard. âIf youâre just here to get a reaction out of me, Iâd advise you and your friends to leave. Please.â
You frowned, standing up with your fists clenched. âNo, youâve got it all wrong. Iâm so sorry! And I donât⊠even have friends.â
Viktor searched your face.
There's nothing to suggest a lie. He's observant, and he quietly prides himself over it, but this is one of the few cases where he genuinely starts to doubt his judgment.
"But," you sighed, turning away. "I'll leave if that's what you want. Apologies."
...
"... Wait."
â đ«§
The leaves of the seedling barely moved.
"Aw," you chuckled, dropping your arm to your side. Who knew conjuring plant powers could be so draining? "Well, I tried. Let's take a break!"
He let out a choked noise, pausing his writing. "We barely started! How is it that whenever you get to try something new and amazing, you avoid it?â
...
You didn't respond immediately.
Viktor put down his notebook, looking back at you, who was blankly staring at him.
"I guess I'm... scared?" you said, tilting your head. To his surprise, you gently grabbed his hand, running your thumb across his palm.
His face warmed. He physically couldn't say or do anything.
"You're the only one who knows about this, Vik," you muttered, your eyes fixed on his rough skin. "I sprung this on you when we were kids, which is kind of hilarious, by the way, but I had a reason. In my mind, you were the only one who would understand."
He thought so, too.
Viktor couldnât stop himself from slipping his fingers between yours. It was a good thing you werenât looking at himâotherwise, you mightâve seen how red his face had become.
"And you told me no one will believe me," he said, and while the memory was of you giving him a serious warning, his tone was filled with nothing but endearment.
"I still stand by that," you laughed, pulling your hand away from his, much to his disappointment. You still hadn't glance at his face. He mentally scolded himself for almost hoping you would see his expression. "Especially with our age now. They'll just think you're crazy."
"I understand," he chuckled, turning away. "About that break... you want to go to our usual?"
A smile curled on your lips. "Yes, please!"
â đ±
Viktor said he has a surprise for you.
Admittedly, you're feeling extremely anxious. He grew up to become a researcher, an inventorâfacts that donât surprise you.
As his best friend, a person able to do magic, while absolutely shitty at it, you know he sees you as someone with massive potential. Literally. No one else in Piltover or Zaun is known to do this. Maybe in a hundred yearsâwho knows? You didn't even have a proper education.
...
Viktor cleared his throat. "I've been offered a position in the University of Piltover."
You froze. The letter in his fingers bore the universityâs wax seal in the center, bold and unmistakable.
âHoly shit,â you blurted, your eyes darting between him and the letter. âHoly shit!â
Jumping over to Viktor, you wrapped your arms around him in a tight embrace. The biggest, most triumphant smile tugged at your lips. He staggered a little, but you were too wrapped up in your happiness to notice.
"Language," he laughed, hugging you back.
You snickered. "I'm so proud of you! Words can't even begin to express how happy I am for you!"
Pulling back, your hands still rested on his shoulders. Your smile relaxed ever so slightly as your eyes gazed into his softer ones.
"I knew you could do it," you exhaled.
A small pause.
Viktor had a look. Oh, shit. Whatâs that smirk for?
"...You're not done," you accused, raising an eyebrow.
He lifted the letter in his hand. "I have not accepted yet."
Now, your brows knitted together in utter confusion.
"... Why notâ?"
"I said I won't be going unless they let me bring a plus one."
You smile faltered, denial crossing your face. He noticed it. Did he just say what you thought you heard him say?
"Are you saying...?" Your expression shifted into disbelief; you didn't quite understand his point.
"I want you to come with me," Viktor said, grabbing your hand and placing the letter in your palm. "To Piltover."
Oh, no. You didn't mean to.
The letter slipped from your hand as you panicked and pulled away.
Viktor felt overwhelmingly worried. He thought you'd be happier about the news.
Then, he looked around.
It had rained just before he decided to share the news. Some raindrops were still fresh, glistening from the downpour.
And around your figure, small droplets rose into the air. You were emotional.
"Viktor. You're not giving me to them, are you...?"
Defeated. That's how your voice sounded.
"Of course not," he hushed, pushing you onto a chair. "Never. Please calm down. Let me explain."
You obliged, sitting down. He sat beside you.
"I'm sorry," you spoke first, meeting his eyes. "It's not that I don't trust you. Heck, I trust you more than anyone. The thought of going up there... it just makes me anxious."
"I understand," Viktor nodded. He turned his head. "However, I promise you, I wonât let them take you away from me. Youâll be solely under my care. But I do know someone whoâs willing to help us."
Viktor. So compassionate and filled with empathy. You admired him for those very reasons, not just for his brilliance. His presence feels like a whole other world to youâsomeone who could help you understand your abilities. Perhaps the only chance you have to truly learn who, or what you are.
"I'll be a burden."
"No. Of course not. I want you by my side."
You hesitated. Despite your family being clueless about your ability, they were still the people you cared for. You still had a life in the undercity.
"And if I refuse...?"
Viktor took a moment to respond. The thought of leaving you hurt his heart.
"You... I believe you don't have much of a choice."
You couldn't explain why, but you found it in yourself to wholeheartedly believe him.

Mine friendo, one, I dunno why it reblogged three times and I do not take any of that back, and two, I need your take on a Nikto kitter cause I wanna, with permission, write a piece with your au đ if it's okay
Okay so, I had to wait until I got home for this but PLEASE IT'S OKAY TO WRITE FOR THIS OH MY GOSH PLEASE DO. All I ask is a tag as credit please. I mean, it's not really my au, it's just appreciated. It's not necessary. What is necessary is tagging me so I can read it! I want to read this!!!
TW: mentions of torture, violence, recovering from grievous wounds
However, your other part of your ask might lead to a bit of a tragedy. See, when Kortac created their task force of cat hybrids, they were trying to use the parts of cats that make perfect hunters to make their soldiers. Silent, fast, agile, strong, excellent eyesight under low light conditions, enhanced smell and hearing, capable of mimicry, able to endure hot and cold environments. Above all, they were to be loyal. So, they used the domestic cat to keep their soldiers domesticated enough to keep them under their thumb.
Nikto was among the first used. He was the first successful prototype. He was perfect! He was loved for his skills as a soldier, and he was loved as being an affectionate domesticated cat. Nikto was adored.
Unfortunately, KorTac had funding cuts and all the perfect soldiers they made had two choices: be let free, or be euthanized. The head of the lab was a soft-hearted man, and he insisted that the cats were to be set free. When the order went through that the cats were to be euthanized regardless, he panicked and smuggled the cats out to a city where he let them free. He begged them to forgive him as he let them go.
The cats all gathered together to face the harshness of city life. Not all of them made it, but most managed. They were homeless cats, homeless humans. They were lost and scared, but they persevered.
Eventually, some of the cats started to get adopted. Nikto watched as his brothers and sisters in arms managed to find places to stay and hide in their cat forms. He saw how wonderfully things worked out for them. Surely, he could find a happy home too, right?
So Nikto let himself be adopted by someone. He was picked up by a teenager with his friend and brought back to a shed. There, Nikto was forced to endure the worst of human behaviour.
The teens learned of a way to make money online. A strange way, but an easy way. It made good money, so they heard. It was easy, as long as you could do it.
Nikto was tortured for hours and hours in that shed. Being a stray for so long, he was too hungry and weak to be able to shift and defend himself. Instead, he was forced to endure horrors I hate to repeat.
When the teens figured that Nikto was dead, they put him in a can and kicked it over into a puddle of some leftover household acid, remains of what they'd used on him previous. Too weak to move, Nikto accepted his fate and closed his eyes.
He was woken up later by an animal trying to nibble at him. Parts of his body fell off as he heaved himself out of the puddle. He felt himself shake, he thought this was the end. But, he needed to warn the others. He couldn't let them suffer a fate like this.
Nikto hauled himself through the streets. He pushed through back alleys to get back to the city, and back to where his squad mates lived. When he arrived back, they did their best to care for him, but they didn't think Nikto would make it through the night.
But he did.
Nikto lived the next day, and then the next day, then the next and then the next day. Every day he lived was a miracle. Hutch, Roze and Askel poured their heart and souls into Nikto, and too their amazement, Nikto began to recover.
His skin started to grow back, his eyes fluttered open. His breathign relaxed, he started to talk.
And talk he did! He told them all about the humans. He warned them all. He made them all swear to protect themselves, to never let themselves fall into the wrong hands again. He made them swear to be strong, to always be healthy enough to shift into human forms. They promised, and they followed his word.
To this day, Nikto feels his heart drop when he hears someone has been adopted. He's made an initiative where each time one of their kin are adopted, another will follow them home to ensure they go to a safe home. They always make sure.
Nikto is still afraid of humans. It doesn't help that nobody really wants to adopt a cat like him... He's covered in scars now, scars that transfer to his human form. Despite how horrible he looks in his cat form, he'll stay in that form to avoid showing his human face. He's never forgotten the fear he felt when he saw his own eye staring back at him from within a fleshy socket, surrounded by redness and folds of scar tissue. He won't ever let anyone see his human face again, he swears by this.
Sometimes, someone will be foolish enough to ask Nikto if he'd consider trying to get adopted again. Nikto never says anything. He never has to. The way the whole room goes silent speaks volumes.
When he leaves them to stew in their own pity and misery, he'll think about what they said. He'll consider their words. A part of him wants to be adopted. He wants a warm, happy home. One like back at KorTac. He's been told KorTac was horrible, but when he was in the cage he had a roof over his head and three meals a day. He didn't go hungry, he didn't shiver at night. He was always safe.
Nikto, despite it all, still wants a home. Is he ready yet to find a human to trust? He doesn't know. He doesn't think he'll ever be ready, but he reminds himself that nobody is ever ready for change. It just happens. One day, a human will find him and love him for who he is, he holds onto that hope dearly.
Here's a quick ref of Nikto for you guys at home. Sadly, he can't really wear a mask in cat form, but at least he has a mask in human form. Still, despite how rough he looks, he still prefers living as a scarred cat than having to face his human form in the mirror again.
Oh, and as for the video? The one those teens made to make hundreds of thousands of dollars? The one that would make them filthy rich?
It made $97 USD.

Hello I was wondering if you could write some scenarios for some hsr men, if you've ever watched Inuyasha and seen Kagome telling him to sit I was imagining that the reader could do that too, I don't really have any specific characters in mind but if you could please include Boothill because ngl that'd be insanely funny, if you're not comfortable with writing this that's completely alright and I wish you a good morning/afternoon or goodnight âșïž
HONKAI STAR RAIL ; "Sit down!" Headcanon.
credit: from pinterest, Sorry this was criminally and unfashionably late!
synopsis; x reader headcanons and scenarios. Based on the request above. characters: Boothill, ft. Herta, Trailblazer, Asta. (longer than the rest since this was the one mainly requested, whipped Boothill.) Argenti, ft. boothill (slight jealousy from reader. third wheeling Boothill.) Jing Yuan, ft. Yanqing (Yanqing being like you and Jing Yuan's son, mentions of Yunli, post Wardance trailblaze continuance quest.)
đŠ It was just your average day in the Herta Space Station, sure there were explosions from tests and experiments, as well as the constant frolicking of the creations left by one of the genius members that resembled numerous real life characters, but those were all the normal.
đŠ well I lied, today wasn't 100% normal. Not with a very much wanted space cowboy swearing up a storm, was it swearing? considering the numerous censorship bugs programmed into him?
đŠ "I swear to fudge, something is definitely mother-fudging wrong with me!" the said top most wanted guy by the IPC expressed.
đŠ Herta, or one of her puppets looked at him with a frown and almost indifferent expression. She scoffed, offended at the suggestion that her check-up missed something. "The only thing wrong with you is your language module. I did not see any other bugs on you that explained your interesting circumstances."
đŠ "Then you're wrong little missy! how else can we explain this!" he waved his arms which did nothing to helped the trailblazer who had returned to Herta's lab having finished their Divergent Universe farming.
đŠ #83 of the genius society ignored the metal cowboy, "Trailblazer, how dare you bring him here?"
đŠ The trailblazer had simply organized a discreet meeting with the wanted Galaxy Ranger and someone who could help with his so called problem.
đŠ "Hey! I was just the messenger here, I don't even know what's happening." The gray haired trailblazer raised their hands up in defense.
đŠ "I guess i should tell you, but I swear if you tell anybody" Boothill ended up making a heart with his hands, (he was planning to do the neck slitting gesture) ". . . don't fudging point it out."
đŠ "fine, call Asta or whoever for another perspective." Herta sighed, waving her hand dismissively at the duo.
đŠ and so Boothill became to recount what had happened that caused him to ask for this meeting with, in his words 'motherfucking sons of a nice lady geniuses'
"Good" and you smiled. And like a well trained dog or a well made clock, he moved as instructed. Body turning quickly and making quick strides as he sat down on the seat in front of you."I swear you muddle-fudger, I'll make you choke on your own shirtballs if you don't walk away right now!" Your partner was practically barring his teeth at the guy who decided to make an unwanted comment towards you. The two of you were in one of the few areas he could stay at without the IPC coming to hound him, at least not as quick. It was a bar really, shady as it was, it was decent compared to the other places you went with the ranger. The poor man was shaking at his knees like a newborn deer. He'd probably pee on the spot by now which made you feel sorry. "Boothill." "Hold on sweetie," the black and white haired male said, stepping closer and closer to the frozen male "let me just deal with this son of a really really nice lady." Any other day you'd have root him considering the man did deserve it, but time was precious with a wanted man like him and you wanted to spend it by eating and chatting rather than watched him terrorized some bigot. "Boothill." "Patience Sweetie." his hand was hovering above his gun, his precious and most trusted ally. Other than you of course. "Let me just. ." "Boothill, sit down." you sighed, fingers tapping on the table.
đŠ "See! I bet one of those fudging IPC shirtballs messed with my synthesia beacon again!"
đŠ the ranger was met with silence, the trailblazer looking at him with disgust (jealousy and disgust at being third wheel with just a story), the pink haired chick feeling embarrassed and Herta looking extremely disappointed, like she was looking at someone stupid.
"er..." The trailblaizer coughed, looking away.
Herta had straight up turned around and left the lab.
Asta then helpfully suggested "I think you're just whipped for [name]."
đŠ Boothill then just kinda accepts that you have a strong hold on him, he had been worried it was honestly because of someone tampering with his synthesia beacon again but now knowing it was all because of you, and his feelings for you, he's accepted it, and even flaunt it sometimes.
đŠ of course at the start he'd be pouty if you do it in front of his enemies. "C'mon sweetie, you gotta stop doing that in front of those fudgers! I have a reputation to uphold"
đŠ but he then kinda remembers, he can just kill anyone who gives him crap about it. Plus he loves flexing that he, a very much dangerous and wanted man, is in a very healthy and committed relationship that his enemies could only dream of.
đŠ like saying,, "the only one who can boss me around like that is [name]! not some fudging shirtball!"
đč being with Argenti, is sometimes like babysitting a kid. Argenti is a knight of beauty, a devoted follower of Idrila. Perhaps it was the way of the knight, or simply being himself. But he was and is always an admirer of beauty.
đč the rose colored haired knight would often become distracted when something beautiful catches his eyes, be it a plant, or a sign, a particular poster or a person, you'd often find him no longer by your side on days you'd decide to walk around or travel together.
đč often times you find it amusing, humoring him as you listened to his rambles. sometimes a part of you couldn't help but be saddened or disappointed at how easily he could pull away from you.
đč the two of you found yourself in Penacony. Penacony was crafted and built to be a dreamland for most, due to the hardwork of the creators and the dreamweavers, it was no doubt beautiful. Like a bustling city filled with dreams and creativity.
đč your partner seemed to agree as his eyes glanced at every other direction but you.
đč "he's like a kid on a fudging sugar rush." Boothill who you had bumped into had joined you, watching how your partner seemed to be currently drawn in by some origami birds who were soaking up his compliments.
đč "I know" your short response had a salty tone that was beginning to build up, one that the ranger could easily pick up on. "Woah there lady, I'm sensing some aggression."
đč you glared at him, not appreciating his teases as he grinned, showing off his sharp teeth.
đč his eyes glanced at Argenti once again, "you want that knight's attention right?" you didn't have to answer because he knew, so he gestured for you to sit down at the nearby cafe "why don't you tell him to sit down."
đč"he's in one of his admiring beauty moods, I don't wanna bother him." you said, taking a menu from the waiter, Boothill remained standing, "Trust me, that knight's going to sit down as soon as you tell him too."
đčyou looked at him skeptically, "nothing hurts with trying." he shrugged. Sighing, you decided he was right as you turned to Argenti, calling him with a wave of an arm.
đč"Yes beloved?" he asked turning away from the origami birds that fluttered off, perhaps returning to their nests amongst the others.
đčYou gestured to the seat beside you, "why don't you sit down?" "Of course!" You blinked, he had disappeared from sight, and you only turned, hearing the sound of a chair being pulled up.
đčArgenti had taken the seat you had gestured to with speed rivalling that of the hunt. "Is there anything you want love?" he asked, eyes finally gazing upon you.
đčyour cheeks begin to flush a rosy pink, as you smiled.
bloopers another chair had been pulled back, as feet were put up the table. "Now how about we start ordering, I'm famished." "Oh you don't say?" your smile twitched as Boothill flashed you a grin. Of course he'd third wheel you and your dear partner.
âĄbeing one of the generals of the Xianzhou Alliance, there were very few who could probably order Jing Yuan around on the Luofu. Those he was familiar with could, or those who were more serious like Master Diviner Fu Xuan made a few comments or suggestions time to time that the Arbiter-General followed.
⥠Still, for Yanqing, it was hard to imagine someone being able to make the dozing General do something. Well until now that is,
âĄWhen even the advisors or the Master Diviner failed or gave up in, there you were, easily making the General do something with a surge of energy never seen before, only with a few words.
⥠Now, the young boy was trying to find his master, his teacher, who seemed to have escaped his office to do something else. Perhaps doze off or sleep, or even play chess with the other natives.
⥠next thing he knew, he had come across you and Jing Yuan on the way back. "Please finish your work." you'd said and he'd sit down and finish all of the paperwork for that day, he'd rarely slouch or doze off as his usual sleepy and relaxed looking eyes look sharp as if he was staring at a prey.
⥠that was a few days ago, now Jing Yuan was now training Yanqing, it was probably reaching dark soon but the both showed no signs of stopping. The younger of the duo felt like his knees were ready to give in, but he persisted as he gripped his sword tighter.
⥠"Boys come sit down! I prepared some snacks!" and then you arrived, with trays of food and drinks you balanced with ease. "Just a min-" "Alright dear." Jing Yuan smiled softly, lowering his weapon and the lightning lord disappearing.
⥠"Come on Yanqing," he offered his hand to the younger boy, and he took it. Both of their hands were sweaty and covered in callouses but they didn't mind as the duo walked towards you.
⥠"it's good that I came. It looks like Yanqing's about to collapse." You'd say, bringing out a handkerchief as you began to wipe the dirt away from the younger boy's face.
⥠"I could handle it!" he pouted.
⥠Chuckling you kissed his forehead "sure you can, but at least have some snacks, You two missed dinner." "Thank you my dear," The general came and placed kisses all over your face.
⥠"Of course, anything for my two boys. Now sit down and eat." you chided and Yanqing watched as his mentor took a seat on the plush cushion you had also prepared.
⥠You'd soon leave, thinking that the food wasn't enough and promising to bring more, their favorites. Yanqing then asked, "Master, why do you listen to her? you know you don't have to."
⥠"I know." Jing yuan took a sip of the tea you had prepared, perfect as always. "I want to."
⥠Yanqing was confused, "why?" he curiously asked. "I understand in the domestic setting, but even in work she tells you what to do, and you do it. But your the general of the luofu. ."
⥠The General wasn't offended or upset by his questions, if anything he seemed amused and delighted he had asked as he began to answer in a soft tone, softer than his usual tone that he'd use every day.
⥠"It is because I don't have to, that I do. My feelings for [ name ] are sincere and passionate. Even if I have the higher position than her, or even if I was stronger. I listen to her because she is my equal. She is the person whom holds the most power over me."
⥠Still Yanqing seemed confused. Unable to quickly process his answer. And then you had came, and he decided to not press on. Thinking it was rude to ask in front of you.
⥠"Perhaps in the future you'll find that someone, and then you'll understand."
⥠"someone?" you curiously looked at the two of them, but as Jing Yuan shook his head, you decided it was better not to ask. "Ah by the way, I received word from the advisors, it seems like Yunli is going to participate in upcoming war dance."
⥠"really?" Yanqing looked up, asking while his mouth was full of food.
⥠'perhaps he had already found that someone', Jing Yuan shared a knowing look with you.

It was hard to think of other characters that worked well with this idea. Boothill was kinda funny, but I think theres an underlying trauma or like worry of someone tampering with his syntesia beacon again without permission.
Argenti, he's a gentleman but I kinda think with how he's an admirer of beauty I think he'd really be like a kid with an attention span of one that you'd have to call him over a couple of times to get him to focus.
Meanwhile Jing Yuan kinda strayed far from the idea with Inuyasha and Kagome since Jing Yuan is known as the dozing general, it'd be more rare to find him out of the chair or somewhere since he's usually lounging.
So really, Boothill was the most accurate to the request, then it goes farther away from Argenti and Jing Yuan HAHAHAH Still I hope Anonymous is pleased with this.

Unseen Battles *â .â â§
TW: scars
Donnie's lab had always been your safe haven. The hum of his tech, the soft glow of his monitors, and the occasional sparks from his soldering iron created a sense of calm you couldn't find anywhere else. You leaned against his workbench, arms crossed, watching as he adjusted the wiring on a small gadget.
"Hey," he said, not looking up. "Youâve been quiet tonight."
You hesitated, biting your lip. "Yeah, just... thinking."
That got his attention. He set down his tools, pulling off his goggles to give you his full focus. âThinking about what?â
You sighed, glancing down at your arm where faint scars peeked out from beneath your sleeve. âOld stuff,â you said quietly. âStuff I thought Iâd moved past.â
Donnieâs eyes followed yours, his expression softening when he saw the scars. He reached out, his fingers brushing your wrist lightly, silently asking for permission. You nodded, and he gently pushed your sleeve up, revealing more of the faded lines.
His touch was feather-light as he traced one of the scars, his brow furrowed in concentration. âThese are part of you,â he said softly, his voice barely above a whisper. âBut they donât define you.â
You swallowed hard, his words hitting deeper than you expected. âSometimes, it feels like they do,â you admitted. âLike theyâre all anyone would see if they knew.â
Donnie shook his head, his grip on your arm tightening slightlyânot enough to hurt, but enough to ground you. âThatâs not true,â he said firmly. âI see you. The person whoâs brilliant, kind, and way too good at distracting me when Iâm trying to work.â
You laughed softly, tears prickling at the corners of your eyes. âDonnie...â
âI mean it,â he said, his voice gentler now. âYouâve been through so much, and youâre still standing. Thatâs incredible. And if there are days when it feels too heavy, you donât have to carry it alone.â
You leaned into his touch, feeling the weight of his words settle over you like a blanket. âHow do you always know exactly what to say?â
He smiled, his free hand coming up to cup your cheek. âI just say what I feel,â he murmured. âAnd what I feel is that Iâm lucky to have you in my life.â
Your heart swelled at his confession, and you reached up to cover his hand with yours. âIâm the lucky one,â you whispered.
For a moment, the two of you stayed like that, the hum of the lab fading into the background. In Donnieâs presence, the scars felt less like reminders of pain and more like proof of your strengthâproof that you had survived and found love in the most unexpected place.

[ Red In My Ledger ]
Pairings: Iron Man! Gojo Satoru x Black Widow! Reader
Summary: You could never truly forget your past, nor the blood that tainted your skin, but maybe you could learn to live in the present and look towards the future. Maybe you could if he stayed right beside you through it all.
The Avengers Tower was eerily quiet. The usual hum of activity that filled the corridors was replaced with a heavy silence as the team assembled in the war room. The threat that had brought them here was familiar to one person in particularâyouâthe Black Widow. You stood by the table, arms crossed tightly over your chest, as the rest of the Avengers discussed their next move.
In front of them were the holographic schematics of a highly secured building, its underground chambers filled with secretsâsecrets from the past, and some that were better left buried. The remnants of the Red Room program had resurfaced. It wasnât just a small, isolated groupâit was global, with new recruits, experiments, and far more dangerous technology than before.
But for you, it wasnât just another mission. It was your past, your deepest fear. The Red Room was where they had turned you into a weapon, a killing machine. The place that stole not only your childhood, but your ability to ever feel truly free again. The same place that stole your humanity, and now, they were back.
Beside you, Satoru, the Jujutsu Sorcerer who was far more than just an ally, tapped his fingers against the table. The sleek, white and black armor of his modern Iron Man suit reflected the dim light from above. His usual confident, carefree demeanor was gone. In its place, a quiet intensity you rarely saw. He knew what this meant for you. They all did.
âWe canât let them continue this. We need to finish this once and for allâ he stated.
You didnât speak at first, your gaze flicking from the holographic map to the faces of the other Avengers. They were all willing to fight. But only you knew what this really meantâwhat it would do to you to face this, to revisit the ghosts of your past. The fear of what they might find. The fear of what you might have to relive.
âIâm in. Letâs finish itâ
Your voice was steady, but the words tasted bitter, like metal on your tongue.
Hours passed as the team geared up for the mission. Satoru worked tirelessly in the lab, fine-tuning his suitâs cursed energy filters to counteract any new enhancements the Red Room had created. He occasionally shot glances in your direction, but you kept herself busy, methodically checking your gear. You were preparing yourself for the fight ahead, but you were also preparing for something far more difficultâthe emotional battle you would face when they entered the Red Roomâs facility.
They had learned that the Red Room had merged with some darker jujutsu practices. Their experiments were more than just genetic manipulationâthey were blending curses with human enhancement, creating twisted soldiers. Satoru had encountered similar experiments in his past, but even he didnât know what to expect from these new creations.
âYouâre quiet tonightâ, his voice was casual, but his eyes betrayed the concern he felt. He glanced at you over the workbench, trying to gauge your mood.
You didnât respond immediately. You were inspecting your guns, running your fingers over the cold metal as if the sensation could ground you. The sound of your fingers tracing the edges filled the space between them.
âYou know I canât let you do this alone, right? Whateverâs inside that place, Iâm with you. Youâre not facing it by yourselfâ
Your fingers stopped, the slight clink of the gun's mechanism now louder than ever in the silence.
âI donât need anyone to fight for me. I can handle thisâ your words were clipped, defensive.
But they were a lie. You didnât need someone to fight for youâbut you needed someone to understand. To see you as more than just the weapon you had been trained to be.
Satoru didnât push you further. He understood. You had never been one to ask for help. You had learned long ago that to rely on others was dangerous. Thatâs what they taught you in the Red Room: trust no one, not even yourself.
Instead, Satoru walked over to you, standing just behind you. His fingers brushed lightly against your shoulder, a quiet gesture that was more for his reassurance than yours.
âYou donât have to say it. I already knowâ, his voice was warm, the softest you had heard it in a long while, âWe donât have to talk about it. But when this is over⊠when weâre done with all of this⊠Iâll be here. For whatever comes nextâ
You didnât respond. You werenât sure if you could let him in, if you were ready to show him how deeply broken you still were. How much of you was still locked inside that cold room, buried in blood and shame.
The operation was swift. They infiltrated the building, using stealth and precision. But the deeper they went into the Red Roomâs facility, the more dangerous the situation became. The soldiers they encountered werenât normal. They had been enhanced with cursed energyâmonsters that fought with vicious, uncontrollable power. The deeper they went, the more the place began to feel like a labyrinth of nightmares.
âWe need to get to the core of this place, quickly. The longer we stay here, the harder itâs going to be to get outâ Satoru said, his voice echoing through the comms, focused as always, but his attention kept drifting back to you.
You were moving with a precision that only someone with your training could manage, but Satoru could see the cracks. Your eyes werenât just watching the enemiesâthey were scanning the walls, the hallways, the shadows. They were looking for something else. Something more terrifying.
You knew this building. You knew the traps, the layouts, the hallways. They had been your prison for too long. The stench of it still clung to you, no matter how many years had passed. It made your skin crawl, made you feel like you were still the broken girl they had molded you into. A weapon. Nothing more. The mission was clear, but the emotional weight of it was unbearable.
As they reached the heart of the facility, they found themselves facing the Red Roomâs last remaining operativesâmonstrous soldiers enhanced with both cursed energy and the Black Widowâs own training. Your eyes narrowed. This was the final test. Not just for your body, but for your mind.
The battle erupted in a fury.
Satoru was everywhere at once, his cursed energy flowing through the air, creating barriers, manipulating space. He took down enemies with ease, but his eyes never strayed far from you. He watched every movement you made, his instincts as sharp as ever, but there was a worry in his expression that wasnât typical for him.
You were unstoppable. You were fluid, a killing machine honed by years of torment. But even as you fought, there was something raw in youâthe fear, the trauma. Every punch, every kick, was a reminder of what you had endured.
A soldier lunged at you, a blur of cursed energy and desperation, and for the briefest moment, your mind flashed back to the Red Roomâthe blood, the chains, the pain.
You are nothing. You are just a weapon.
But this time, when the soldierâs hand reached for your throat, you didnât freeze. You didnât flinch. Your body moved like instinct, fluid and unstoppable, and you broke the soldierâs neck with a swift motion.
But it was the aftermath that hit you. The weight of the body crumpling at your feet, the taste of blood in your mouth, and the sudden, overwhelming pressure in your chest.
Satoru reacted swiftly, âHey, hey, you okay?â
His voice cut through the fog in your mind, but you couldnât answer. You couldnât speak. The walls of the Red Room were closing in again.
You were nothing but a weapon.
But Satoru was there, right by your side, his presence grounding you like an anchor. He knew you better than anyone, and even though you couldnât admit it, he understood the ghosts you carried.
He caught your wrist gently, pulling you back as the battle raged around them.
âYouâre not that person anymore. Youâre not a weapon. Iâll never let you be that againâ
His words were more than just reassuranceâthey were a lifeline. A promise.
And for the first time in a long while, you allowed yourself to believe it.
The battle was over. The Red Room was dismantled. Or at least the majority of it, after all they were a pest ever growing in the shadows. But for now it was over.
For you, though, the real fight had just begun. As the Avengers cleaned up, dismantling the remains of the Red Roomâs operations, Satoru stayed close to you.
You both were alone now, walking down the dark corridor of the destroyed facility. The quiet was oppressive, and you felt the weight of the years you had spent running from yourself catch up to you. You hadnât said a word since the battle ended.
Satoru stopped walking, turning to face you. There was no one else around nowâno mission, no enemies, no distractions. Just the two of you, standing in the ruins of what had once been your prison.
âI know itâs not over for you. This doesnât magically fix everythingâ, his voice was low, almost gentle.
There was no pressure, no urgency. Just a quiet understanding.
âI donât know how to move past this. How to be⊠normal. How to feel anything other than painâ
âYou donât have to do it alone. You donât have to fix everything in one nightâ he reminded you, âBut Iâll be here. Whenever you need me. And when youâre ready, Iâll help you carry itâ
Your heart thundered in your chest. The walls around youâthose walls you had built for yearsâfelt like they were crumbling. But for the first time in so long, you didnât feel scared. You didnât feel like a weapon.
You were just⊠yourself.
âThank youâ, your voice was quiet, the weight of your gratitude heavy.
Satoru didnât say anything. He didnât need to. He simply reached out, placing a hand gently on you shoulder.
And for the first time, you didnât pull away.

His old classmates, his family, his friendsânone of them quite remember the myriad of paranormal perils they stopped together, and none of them remember that Danny Fenton and Danny Phantom are one and the same. The young king slept for most of the first week of his reign. He did not seek his bedchambers, though they existed, and in a room not too far from the throne room. Schrödingerâs Boy G 1,610Â
At first glance, it looked like a boy. A cute boy in fact. Short compared to her tall. Pale skin in contrast to her deep dark, straight black hair opposed to curly blond. Baby blue opposing forest green. But then, the closer she looked, the more she noticed what was off. Skin was a little too pale to be considered healthy, and became slightly transparent as she saw more. Hair was wispy and floaty, almost defying gravity, almost flowing like it was under water as its head bounced. Eyes a bit more, sunken, a bit more tired. Worst of all, its heartbeat sounded so, so slow. And now, it was sitting two tables across from her.Â
Autonomy And Worse Things T 48,942Â
In a moment of stress, Danny develops a new power, one far too electrically reminiscent of his death. With it, he can play puppeteer: when he speaks, people will listen, and they'll have thought all along the idea was their own. It's a terrifying powerâand when Danny fails to control it, his friendships are left shattered in its wake.Â
Face To Face T 293,614 SERIESÂ
When Danny went through the ghost catcher, he expected to be cured of the ghostliness that had haunted him since the accident, not to wake up on the lab floor with his parents saying heâd been overshadowed but everythingâs okay now. So why does Danny Fenton cry himself to sleep to then dream of flying? Why does Phantom, the ghost who was supposedly possessing Danny, remember a life that isnât his? Most of all, why do both the human and the ghost feel that something vital is missing, in their very soul?Â
Trust Your Instincts T 208,868 SERIESÂ

Good And Evil T 3,687Â
What is "good"? What is "evil"? Am I "good"? Am I "evil"? The truth is, I don't know anymore. But why am I asking myself this? Let me start from the beginning...Â

When Pariah Dark's legacy fades and the King Stone calls for Danny Phantom to inherent the crown, only his enemies prefer he remain alive and not the all powerful ruler of the Infinite Realms. His name is whispered among ghosts, reverence and resentment flavoring his deeds, but what use is a crown with a price weighed in blood? To become king, Danny Fenton must die.Â
Regulations: Too Little Too Late T SERIESÂ
His parents were friends with a weird loner billionaire from the sounds of it, and had never thought to mention it before this trip. Strange, he supposed, but his parents often forgot to do or mention important things. At least no ghosts had shown up this far outside of Amity. Yet.Â
Let's Pretend The Fog Has Lifted T SERIESÂ

If anything good could be said of his time spent under Freakshow, he's at least learned how to be patient.Â

Valerie just wanted to buy a new couch to replace the one Cujo tore to shreds. She didnât know babysitting her boyfriend in a furniture store would prove so difficult.Â
Dying (Again)Â T 2,630Â
Saying Danny was half ghost was frankly a simplification. In truth, he was more â
âs ghost. Maybe more, depending on the day. Truthfully, it was a miracle his ectoplasm had kept his human heart beating as long as it had. Or Danny was dying again. This time he couldnât bring himself to care.Â
Mother Knows Best T 5,647Â
Pamela Manson knows her role: she is Samantha's mother and that means that it is her duty to protect her daughter from harm. Especially as her own mother seemed to have missed that memo.Â
Accidental Child Aquisition NRÂ
Danny's got enough on his plate between Ghost King duties, surviving his parents, surviving the GIW, and surviving high school. He could do without the summonings from crazed fruitloops on random Tuesdays when he has things to do. He could definitely do without said fruitloops offering him kids as sacrifices when he finally made it clear he didn't like them offering up blood, animals, or adults.Â
Don't Shoot; It's Me! No, The Other Guy! NR 31,935Â
After a botched attempted reveal, Valerie thinks Fenton and Phantom body swapped! Literally how did he get here?Â
Deranged Senses T 12,953Â
Dannyâs been doing fine. Sure, he has to focus on keeping himself from shaking, and the voice in his head goading him to hurt has been getting louder, but its fine. Heâs got it under control. Ghosting TÂ
âBut as soon as heâs about to move in that direction, a twig snapping nearby has him whirling around with a growl. He doesnât have the energy to go invisible right now, but that doesnât stop him from gathering a green glow at his fingertips, ready to blast the first face he sees. Phantom freezes. Oh no.âÂ

Some mascots are great at pumping up a crowd. As Casper High's mascot, Danny has only one job: strike fear into the hearts of their opponents. This is the story of how Danny becomes the famed Mascot of Fear.Â
Speak To Me G 2,202Â
Danny had heard of "dead languages" before, but this was just ridiculous.Â

Maddie keeps on waking up to Thursday morningÂ

Boy King G 2,602Â
Danny is heir to the throne of the Ghost King, much to the displeasure of the Observants. He's just trying to survive his senior year.Â
Shatter G 1,836 SERIESÂ
Danny had just been electrocuted four days ago. But that was okay. Because he was fine. Even if there was this weird pressure in his chest, and his skin didn't feel like his own, and his whole body felt cold and alien, and he kept tripping over his feet. He was fine. He was human.Â
A Connoisseur of Fine Art G 698 SERIESÂ
Well, you know what they say: One ghostâs toilet is another ghost's treasure.Â
Elledritch Horror NR 1,461Â
A mother finds something strange about her daughter. If that's her daughter at all...Â
Cloned To Homed G 26,765 SERIESÂ
Danny Phantom was a protector, not a hurter, thereâs no way he could genuinely have destroyed those clones and maybe the Fenton parents wouldnât be quite so bothered or quite so surprised by the existence of halfas as Danny once feared.Â

Becoming the prince of ghosts isnât in Dannyâs weekend plans, but it doesnât look like he has a choice in the matter. (Or does he?)Â
Revelations T 4,118Â
Death is a joke, a walking comedy, and Danny Fenton had always been a comedian. Monologues, acidic blood, a little girl that looked his spitting image, and bones.  Â
Second Chances T 3,982Â
The students and faculty of Casper High mourned the tragic death of Daniel Fenton. Gone too soon thanks to the negligence of his parents. That was what everyone thought until the next Monday morning when Danny came strolling into school like nothing had ever happened.Â
Halfa Whole G 484Â
Somehow, he just knew, right down to his core, that he wasnât the same thing as Vlad and Danielle.Â
The Case Study Of Wes Weston TÂ
His face wasn't that memorable. Even after seeing him just that morning, Danny could only conjure up his reddish brown hair and freckle-splattered cheeks, but not much else. At first, it didnât matter much. Danny didnât even bother to confirm his name. But after the curious streak dragged on and on, and spiraled into a full on investigation, he learned the name. And now he canât seem to stop hearing it. âWes Weston asked me for thisâ, âWes Weston did that last weekâ, âI saw Wes Weston hereâ, âI heard he was thereâ, âWes is so coolâ, âI hate that guyâ. Suddenly, heâs everywhere. It seems like everyone except Danny knows Wes Weston. And, it seems like Wes Weston knowsâŠeverything.Â
A Grave Error T 1,521Â
A fluorescent green gaze pierced through him from the rearview mirror. As much as the eye contact sent chills down Dale's spine, he didn't want to look away. Some primal part of his brain was much more comfortable keeping his eyes firmly planted on the predator in the back seat of the police car.Â
"Why won't he leave?" Dale whispered to his partner, the woman grit her teeth.Â
"I don't know, but I'm not the idiot who decided to fucking arrest him."Â
Proximal TÂ
There's an old superstition that bad things come in threes. Finding a gravely injured Phantom in her lab, then the realization that no one has seen her son for nearly twenty-four hours... Maddie doesn't want to know what the final nail will be.Â
I Feel Guilty But I Can't Feel Ashamed M 63,915 SERIESÂ
Fentons were feared. Danny had this impressed on him from both of his parents and even his snobby sister for all of his fourteen years. Despite Danny taking after Maddie with his love of dissecting anything that could scream, Danny was the least evil Fenton to ever evil. Then everything changed when his parents built a very strange machine.Â
Down The Rabbit Hole T 33,586Â
Her father might have been a bit eccentric and distancing, her mother fond of ghost studies â especially doing that secretly in her lab without Dadâs consent â but no matter the oddness, Dani loved her parents. But she never could have guessed that her world would turn upside-down once she simply wanted to get away from their exceptional heated debate â in which case, she would end up in a twisted world where nothing was as things were supposed to be: her father had no child, her mother lived with another man, had another family, and⊠she didnât exist at allÂ
The Boy Who Fell Into The Sea T 34,272Â
Thrust into the world of the sea monsters, Danny learns that they aren't so different after all, and finds himself working on a way to bring them both together. Too bad he seemed to be Really Bad At Doing So.Â
A Night At The High School G 15,456Â
Ever since the accident two years ago, Danny has had what some people would call luck when it comes to the paranormal. When he heard that Sam wanted to use that "luck" in help with a class assignment, he knew it was a bad idea. It was an absolutely terrible idea. And yet, he was gonna go along with this anyways.Â
Emergency Contact TÂ
When William Lancer answered the phone that day, little did he know that he would go from an average literature teacher and cat-dad to now the emergency foster parent for a very injured teenage ghost. Life had a funny way of being unpredictable like thatÂ
(We Are) The Fault Line T 46,616Â
A year after the asteroid, a new government agency has arrested Danny on "public endangerment" charges, and they've shown no sign of releasing him any time soon or even allowing any of his loved ones to see him. So, naturally, Sam and Tucker and Valerie and Dani have taken it upon themselves to rescue him. The plan is simple. In order to convince these federally funded goons to give Danny up, they're going to have to offer them something better. Enter Vlad Plasmius.Â
Shift T 22,4415 SERIESÂ
In which Danny's secret is revealed to the world before he ever steps foot in Amity ParkâŠand before he ever meets Sam or Tucker.Â
Weaving Webs M 20,951
The Fenton parents were there when the accident happened, they saw Danny die in an act of sabotage. Now theyâre just trying to go on with the strange ghost that is all that's left of Danny. While their old college friend is wondering where the subjects of his revenge are.
Not My Circus, Not My Monkeys (If Only That Were True) T 12,483
Danny has enough on his plate as it is, between his kingly duties, the ghosts that have dropped off the map so suddenly that he's starting to worry, and that dang itch - which was beginning to turn into pain - that just won't go away. He doesn't need to deal with this creepy circus and its equally creepy ringmaster. But when he encounters four strange ghosts robbing a jewelry store, and he starts losing time⊠He realizes that he can't avoid Circus Gothica forever. If only he could say not my circus, not my monkeys and just be done with it.
MISCÂ
The Crown Of Flame Imperishable M SERIESÂ
Danny responds to an elaborate fetch quest across Middle Earth with leeroy jenkins tactics (rushing in knowing nothing) while Fright Knight watches in disbelief that it's working.Â
The Phantom Martian TÂ
When Astronaut Mark Watney went to Mars, he knew there was a chance he'd never come home. Now, though, he's determined to last long enough for NASA to save him because this whole dying for science thing is not as fun as it sounds. Meanwhile, Danny Fenton is just trying to keep his identity a secret amidst a potential crisis with his powers. Seriously, what's up with that weird current under his skin? Why is he having so much trouble controlling it? And why does it feel so familiar...? In a fit of determination (and possible stupidity), Danny goes to Mars to save Watney, only to add to both their crises when he arrives and can't get home. Will NASA save them? Will Danny have a home to return to if they do?Â
Phantom's Fables (A One Shot Collection)Â M SERIESÂ
A collection of story ideas that I lack the motivation to make into full stories at the moment. Will mostly be Danny Phantom crossovers with DC and probably a little bit of Marvel or BNHA. Requests are welcome. Any one-shot series that makes it to five chapters will graduate to it's own fic.Â
The Ghost Of Heroes T 291,238 SERIESÂ
New York City isn't prepared for a ghostly invasion. The Avengers are finally all in the same place again. Thor and Bruce are back from space with a semi-reformed chaos god and a thousand refugees in tow. Steve and the Rogues have got their pardons and are ready to start being heroes again. But Tony isn't ready trust, neither is his new protegee Spiderman. The fractured team can't seem to come together. It's a good thing then that Danny Phantom is ready to save the day. That doesn't mean anyone is prepared for when he keeps showing up.Â
John Doe Identified M 6,233 SERIESÂ
Phantom luck strikes again as Danny gets hurt wandering the streets of NYC but he is saved by the most unlikey hero-antihero. Things happen, mistakes are made, identities are revealed, and somehow hearts are slightly mended.Â
Dead Heat Rising M 13,044Â
Working a job in Amity Park, Ohio, Sam and Dean Winchester encounter a ghost boy who will change their perspective of those beyond the veil...Â

#it's an old frustration. an old pattern of thought.#i just feel that i have a brain that doesn't hold information. that lacks the discipline to gain knowledge. that is incapable of deeper#thought. and i cant teel you how maddening that is. to sit in a room and listen to other people discuss a paper you read in depth 5 times#like it's the 1st time you ever heard anything about it. how is that possible? how do i work with that? i read and nothing sticks.#nothing stays with me. how??? i was talking to a prof recently who ive heard is hard on her students with disability accommodation. and she#was saying how she doesnt see these things as a disability. how we're just different not disabled. ive heard the phrase differently abled#a lot of times. and i get what she's saying. i do. ad i get why she's hard on them. she wants to push them. but there comes a point where#you are quote unquote differently abled and you run into a wall that other people dont have. then what are you supposed to do? work harder?#but what if that doesn't help? what if that just compounds the hurt that's always been there? what if that leaches away all the wonder? what#then? at what point does a thing become too much of a barrier? i think there's a reason i dont run into many other dyslexic grad student.#everyone has adhd. it's a place where those with adhd prosper. but dyslexia not so much. at least not with the level of hanicap i have#and everyone's really nice. they want to help. but there's nothing anyone can do for me at this stage. it's up to me to compensate for my#leaky head. and i kno im not stupid. ive got a piece of paper stating my iq is above average after correcting for uneven intelligence. but#i dont feel very smart most of the time. i feel more like my uncorrected iq score that comes out at just below average even with me trying#my very best. iq is bullshit but there's something to be said for that gap. im smart if unconstrained by language and time. but were bound#by language and we're bound by time so what am i supposed to do? is there anything i can do? im stuck with this forever. theres no getting#better or making it easier. my brain is wired in a way that gives me the reading skills of a child. forever. and i just have to accept that#and im trying to swallow around that idea easier because the only other option is to choke on it. but maybe i chose the wrong career path.#one of my lab mates said she wants challenges all the time and ive chosen a path that's challenges all the time but im jsut trying to do#what everyone else can without a second thought. it's deeply demoralizing. yet here i am. trying to be easier abt it.#maybe im just nit cut out for this. doing a job im not built for.#unrelated

tbh i'm still not sure how everyone in this country wasn't radicalized when everything shut the fuck down, except for all the people who got paid shit, who were of course Essential Workers
#worked at a medical testing lab when all this happened and one day it was just like#hey btw you've probably heard of that deadly virus that's going around#yeah we're gonna start testing it here and we also expect you to bring your own masks#just in a fucking email that had the corporate audacity to present this as an opportunity instead of me risking my life#for a wage a fraction above the poverty line#luckily was in a position where i could just stop going to work and make it their problem

organic chemistry will have you acting like you're invincible to various hazardous chemicals
#this post was inspired by the kiss acrylic nail kit that i deicded to open up and use#i don't know what possessed me to do that#but the liquid thing smelled very potent#shoutout to the polymer lab i did in orgo though bc i started using the kit and was like#âdamn this reminds me of the polymer coating i made in orgo a few weeks agoâ#but anyways#yeah i don't know how i'm supposed to explain that one to my parents if they smell the fumes radiating from out of my bedroom#like that shit was POTENT#and again i have no clue why i decided to try my hand at acrylics again after years?? i tried it once when i was in my nail polish heyday#and then never again#and it's been like... at least six or seven years#i think i was afraid of the chemicals in that thing and the fumes getting to me#and tbh i still am a little bc this room doesn't have orgo lab ventilation#but at the same time. the boys and i would directly put our noses above chemicals and take a little sniff because. y'know.#we're all like 20 or whatever we're not exactly the brightest of the bunch#so really i'm like âwell. it can't be worse than the stuff i've worked with in organic chemistry lab.â#i'm just trying to get rid of the smell tbh#so i've got a fan on and the window open and a candle burning#shoutout to ventilation

Maaaan, introducing folks to stuff I've grown up with is one of the best feelings ever! My parents basically unofficially adopted my roommate (long story) and I've been showing them all the stuff I had in my childhood and like! He grew up with gospel music but not the specific brand I grew up with, so I'm showing him gospel hiphop/gospel music and I get to go back in time and show him the old classic folk like Kirk Franklin and Mary Mary!! (And I get to share my personal favorites from Tonex and KB, etc hehehehehe) And I'm trying to get my roommate more into nicher anime (buddy just got into anime last semester so I'm taking it slow), so I get to save a bunch of cool anime that've marked parts of my life like Mob Psycho and Assassination Classroom and MHA, as well as watching new ones together like Oshi no Ko and Kaiju No. 8!! And even talking about my old interests means I need to show them Cats the musical, which has Les Twins in it so I need to show them World of Dance where I first saw them, but then watching one group (I forgot their name but they specifically danced to gospel hiphop) leads me BACK to the music I grew up on and and!!! Literally every conversation leads to a tangent leads to reminiscing and sharing my childhood leads to them sharing and reminiscing leads to me learning more about them! Like my god, 10/10 experience, would completely recommend lol. >:D
#best roommate experience I've ever had and it's only been a couple of months so far#but buddy's the type of person I can sit down and play games with one day and chill silently in the same room with another day <3 <3#OH OH!! THAT REMINDS ME#We've been playing In Stars and Time together for a while and it's been so so fun so far#(we've been screaming over Isabeau and Siffrin [literally in my case] being so gay and cute - iykyk)#I'm just so glad I have someone like my roommate in my life AGH#also I know I just posted but let me get my early morning feelings out before I bury them again in the morning#I have chem lab tomorrow and skies above if I die of sleep deprivation it'll be all my fault (found a good Dream SMP fic and misjudged time#fenn rambles#A friend <3#oh! roommate goes by any pronouns for reference- prolly should've mentioned that earlier đ

have I told you guys that little girls in public keep accusing me of not existing. the first one was a toddler on the bus pointing at me and telling her mom "look, there's no one there, no one!". the second one was another little girl at the grocery store going "oh wow, an isle to ourselves, there's nobody else here!" when I was, in fact, there and in her line of sight. the third time one straight up came up to me at a park to ask me "why don't you exist?" and I absolutely did not know what to tell her. at what point should I get worried
#can we get like a witch in here to tell me what this means#or a physicist with access to a lab to make sure I do have all my atoms#noide.txt#I understand children are like this. but no one else I've asked has ever had this happen to them#there is a conspiracy of little girls who want to make me extremely puzzled and confused#slightly unrelated. a friend once did a tarot reading for me and refused to tell me what it said because whatever was going on with me was#''far above her level''#pleasee comment anything on this post I want to hear any comments anyone has. also I'm bored.

Fever
(Task force 141 x F!reader)
Summary: While out on a mission you are injected with a substance that might lead to a shift in the dynamics between the 141.
Warnings: SMUT 18+, sex pollen, fingering, dub-con/non-con (under the influence of sex pollen), choking, nasty Simon, Gaz has morals
Word Count: ~ 4.2k
(Reader's callsign is Pepper)
I don't own MW2, the characters, or the gif above.
âWhat the fuck was that?â You shouted as you felt a sharp pricking sensation on your left ass cheek. You reached behind you to feel what was causing the sensation and groaned as you felt a syringe protruding from your behind. You looked down and noted that you had stepped on a pressure plate of some kind and triggered the laboratoryâs defense mechanism.
âOh fuck, lass.â Johnny mumbled.
âShit, Pepper.â Gaz exclaimed in disbelief.
âNo fucking way. Why does this shit always happen to me?â You yanked the dart-like needle from your behind and examined the leftover contents. The remaining contents appeared to be a blue syrup-like fluid. You sighed and pocketed the syringe hoping you could take it back to base to have it examined by the scientists at the lab.Â
âPepper, what was that?â Price called over the comms hearing the distress in everyoneâs voices. Your thoughts ran at a mile a minute as you tried to figure out if you should tell your captain, that you probably had a mild crush on and always wanted to impress, that you just stepped on a trap. Or if you should lie. You hated lying to Price. It felt like you were letting him down and any time you did, you found yourself immediately retracting your statement and telling him the truth hoping heâd forgive your indiscretion. You readied your mouth to let out some kind of answer but snapped your mouth shut as you heard Gaz from your right side, âLooks like they tranqed Pepper or something. We were sweeping the lab and she was the first one in.â You turned your head toward Gaz and offered him a look that was a mix of thankfulness and regret.Â
âShite. You're still standing, lieutenant?â Price probed in a tone that, only those close to him could tell, was full of doubt and concern.
âYes sir.â You pushed further into the lab taking extra care where your steps landed. The lab had been recently abandoned by russian terrorists working on some kind of bioweapon. You could only hope that you didnât just get dosed with whatever they were concocting. As the three of you pressed further into the dingy lab you felt like the mass of your body was slowly doubling.Â
âSoap. Gaz. If I drop, I need two to keep moving. We need to get this intel out of here as soon as we find it.â You could faintly hear the heavy footsteps of the terrorists behind you.
âNo way in hell weâre leaving you behind.â Gaz contended.Â
âListen I-âÂ
You were quickly interrupted by Laswellâs voice in your ear, âPepper. Evac will get to you and the boys in 11 minutes. Itâll be 2 clicks north of your current location. Weâll get you to the safe house from there.âÂ
âCopy.â You replied as Soap took a step closer and fixed his mouth to ready a response to your order.Â
âLass I don-â
âListen. We don't have time for this. I donât know what I got hit with but I know that at the moment we have a job to do. Letâs keep moving while I can and clear the files we came for. You will keep moving if I drop and thatâs final. This mission can't be a waste of time.â You were met with an apprehensive âYes Maâamâ and a âgot it LTâ and you snapped your head around to continue sweeping the lab.Â
You knew you were being harsh but if you gave them room to argue youâd be stuck here going back and forth with them about it. Truthfully it was a ruse to make it look like you werenât basically shitting bricks. You couldnât stop the thoughts that flew through your mind. Iâm going to die today. Holy fuck Iâm not making it out of this. I donât know what I got hit with. How long do I have? You didnât have much going on in your home life so the thought of a family didnât even cross your mind until you thought about who around you did have one. Soap had his sisters back in Scotland that loved to âforceâ him to watch those really crappy rom-coms that he claimed he hated so much but then recommended for team bonding nights. Then you had Gaz who had his mom waiting at home for him. She always sent him care packages with little hand written notes that gave him updates on the status of his neighborsâ cat who had slowly been making itself comfortable on their property back in London. She even sent him photos of the cheeky little tuxedo cat. Your mind shifted from thoughts about yourself to thoughts about them. I have to get these boys out of here. They have so much going for them. They really are some of the best we have to offer. I canât let them down. If I can't get out of here at least they can.Â
Gaz went to the computer and plugged in a decryption device and began to sift through the scientist's digital files while Soap went through some of the scattered papers left in the room.
âThey were in such a rush to get out of here they werenât even effective at scrubbing their drives. Pep, I think I might have something.â You walked to the computer Gaz was stationed at and noticed a folder titled âProject Vitalityâ.Â
âGood job, Gaz get it and we go. Soap anything?â
âA couple of poorly redacted files with the same name.â Soap chipped from your left. You made your way to him and patted his shoulder in praise.
âAlright we gotta move.â You heard the footsteps boom as the incoming enemies approached. You felt yourself slowly start to stall and noticed you had a difficult time focusing your eyes. It was like you were wearing a pair of glasses that werenât meant for you and you couldnât take them off. You willed your eyes to focus but it was becoming a hassle. Fuck me. You turned your head to Soap on your left and said, âSoap I need you to take point on the way out. I'll watch our backs as we exit.â
âAre you-â he started then pressed out a short, âWill do.â The look on his face was filled with so much concern, that for his sake, you almost wanted him to ask you if you were okay. He turned and rushed out of the room followed by Gaz and you at the back. The three of you navigated the winding corridors of the combatant base and made your way back, passing the rooms you had previously cleared.Â
âPepper. How we doing?â Price questioned over comms.
âGot the documents and drives, sir.â
âI know you did. Thatâs not what Iâm asking about.â
âWhat kind of answer do you want, Cap?
âYou know what I want to hear.â You knew Price wanted the truth but you couldn't let him know the fact that you might be starting to lose motor function and that the mass of your body felt like it had doubled. There was a large part of you that wanted to make him proud and craved his approval so the thought of disappointing him always stirred something deep inside you. But then there was Gaz and Soap. They were your sergeants and they often looked to you for guidance. The image they had of you rarely faltered from confidence and strength. They were right by your side and were clearly worried for you. If you told the truth to them they probably want to stop and question your status or maybe even try to do some kind of makeshift field evaluation on you and youâd definitely lose out on valuable time.Â
A shaky, âIâm doing just fine, sir.â fell from your lips then silence. A sigh from Price that was then followed by a gruff, âBring it in safe. Iâll see you in a bit.â
âOf course sir.â You acknowledged. He knew you were lying. The slight tremor in your voice told him exactly what he needed to know.Â
Soap led the three of you out of the compound but not without running into a couple of the remaining terrorists that missed your group upon arrival. You, although struggling to see and move, caught the slight movement as you three made your way to the entrance of the compound. A brown jacket sleeve that moved just a bit too slow was all you needed to gather that the combatants had reached your location. Years of intense practice and strenuous training had you firing your weapon with a practiced precision that was barely impacted by your declining physical state.Â
As soon as you exited the compound you were met with a glaring brightness from the snow of the siberian tundra. The almost blinding whiteness was a massive contrast to the dimly lit compound so the massive shift in intensity had your head spinning. Gaz noticed you stumbling but only met you with a face of concern and a hand on your shoulder as he watched you struggle to get your bearings.Â
Trekking through the Siberian tundra in your worsening condition was one of the hardest things you'd had to do in your career. The whirling of the wind was so intense that it felt like someone was screaming directly next to your ear and the pressure of it was enough to make your head pound. The snow was coming down so hard that each snowflake that hit your face felt like a tiny pin prick over and over again. Your feet were so deep in the snow that it felt like you were gaining an extra 20 pounds of weight with the effects of the drug starting to control your movements. You tried to pull yourself together. It was undeniable at this point that you would not be winning the battle against whatever medication they injected you with.
â2 minutes till evacâ Ghost chimed in your earpiece. Your hearing was so sensitive that you could almost feel the loud mechanical static and the whirl of the helicopter in the background of his response.
âOh my days. Ghost is the one flying us out? I donât want to end up out the bloody chopper againâ Gaz groaned. Oh. I wasnât the only one to hear the helicopter then.Â
âIt was either me or you freeze out there, Sergeant.â
âLT, if you fly that thing the way you drive, Gaz might be better staying down here. Less chance of him getting thrown from the bloody thing.â Soap chirped.Â
The world slowly started to look like a mass of colors and shapes with no definite beginning or end. The only thing you could do at this point was push and pray that you were gonna have enough strength to make it to the evac point. Everything was so intense that overwhelming wasn't even the right word to describe the feeling. You struggled to pick up your head as you began to hear another distinct whooshing sound that could only belong to that of a Puma HC2.
âIâm here arenât I?â Soap and Gaz stopped moving as Ghost put the helicopter on the ground.Â
âIâm glad you are sir. Good to see you, Ghost.â Soapsaid as he flung the door open and made his way on the aircraft.
âAlways good to see that ugly mug of yours, Johnny.â Ghost turned his head to get a good look at everyone. â Pepper, you don't look too hot.â Ghost concluded as you dragged yourself into the seat next to what you could have only imagined was Gaz. The words that came out of your mouth were something along the lines of âNotâ and âGoodâ but no one really understood you with how slurred your response was. They did however understand that something was really wrong when your body slumped backward and went limp next to Gaz. You could vaguely hear the commotion of Gaz, Soap, and Simon, around you as they shouted your name and desperately tried to keep you from slipping out of consciousness. The last thing you heard was Price pressing to be informed on your state and him telling Ghost to get all of you to the safe house.Â
---
âA neurotoxin that sends the body into overdrive. Increases nervous sensitivity and impulsivity, and impairs functionality of the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus.â Price read from the lab report with a stubby cigar in hand.
âWhy the hell would they want to make something like that?â Gaz questions.
âApparently in small doses it can be used as an aphrodisiac that it increases blood flow throughout the body, promotes sexual stamina, and increases pleasure outcomes? They mustâve been trying to develop something to sell on the streets.â Price continues.
âRight so they dosed her with super viagra?â Soap questioned.Â
âThat's what it sounds like?â Gaz said.Â
âI thought that stuff didn't work on women?â Simon interjected.Â
âIt looks like theyâve altered it so it impacts both sexes but they havenât been able to work out the less desirable symptoms. Tachycardia, fever, headache, dizziness, loss of consciousness, heart failure, and death.â Price paced as he read the outcomes.Â
âOh shit.â
âHeart failure? Death? How do we make sure that that doesnât happen?â Gaz frantically questioned.
âThe only way the toxin can be expelled from the body is through coitusâŠâ Price trailed off as he dropped his cigar into a bowl. That canât be right. He read it three times just to be sure and the words on the page didnât change.Â
âSteaminâ Jesus.â Soap deadpanned.
âNo blood way.â Gaz stood with an open mouth.Â
âSomeone has to fuck her.â Simon said.Â
---
When you awoke, you noticed you were lying on a firm mattress and were surrounded by the smell of smoke laced with a heavy sweetness that only came from Priceâs cigars. You felt undeniably cold and couldnât help but to shiver. You rubbed your fingers across your palms and felt them drenched in sweat. As you slowly began to turn to your side, you were overwhelmed with the feeling of the rough sheet that laid under you.Â
âWhat the fuck?â You noticed that you had been stripped out of your vest and snow gear and were left in your black polyester thermals. You could feel every inch of fabric that you wore and immediately moved to take off the thermals. You were left in your sports bra and underwear. Why am I taking off my clothes? Iâm freezing? You ran your hands up and down your body trying to get a semblance of warmth but then decided that putting thermals back on would be too much for your unusually sensitive skin. As you dragged your hand down the sides of your thighs you couldn't help but notice how good it felt to touch yourself. You moved your hands to your inner thighs and couldnât contain the moan that slipped from your mouth. You brushed your hand over the gusset of your panties and whined at the feel of your hand gliding over your already sensitive clit.Â
âPepper?â rushed out of Gazâs mouth as he entered the room. He looked over to the pile of thermals on the end of the bed. âHow are you feeling?â he probed. When did Gaz get so attractive? He wore a red henley that hugged his arms perfectly and his soft curls made an appearance without the presence of his well worn UK hat. He made his way over to you and touched your forehead. âYouâre burning up. Damn. The feverâs started.â The feeling of his hand on you was almost indescribable. He was warm and firm and exactly what you felt you needed at that moment.Â
You felt yourself acting on purely impulse as you grabbed his hand and dragged it down to your mouth. You started to kiss his palm and moved your attention to his thumb. You placed it firmly between your lips and began to suck. âOh fuck.â Gaz exhaled as he watched you with wide eyes. You continued your ministrations and moved from his thumb to his index and middle fingers. You began to lick around his digits before you engulfed them in your mouth with a guttural moan. You could taste the salt and gunpowder from the mission and it only made you crave him more. You lifted your gaze to him and willed your eyes to meet his. The groan that fell from his lips was divine. You removed his fingers from your mouth and helped his hand descend to where you really needed him. âFuck. No. I can't do that princess. Not when you're like this.â
âBut I really really want you to. Come on, Kyle. Itâll help me feel so much better.â You purred. Gaz let out a shaky breath, pulled his hand from you, and walked out the room but not without you noticing him readjusting himself in his pants. Fine, I'll do it myself. You sighed and pulled your panties down your legs till they rested at your ankles. You slid your fingers between your legs and gasped at how wet you were. You slowly started to trail your finger through your folds, collecting some of the wetness that had dripped from you and began to rub your clit. As soon as your finger pressed against your reactive little nub you were in heaven. You started in small circular motions and rubbed until you felt you needed more. You moved your other hand to your breast and tugged at your nipple. You kneaded and grabbed your breast like it was the key to your survival. Youâve never felt like this before. It's like you can feel everything, everywhere, all at the same time. You felt the rough fabric of the sheets, the scratchy wool of the pillow behind your head and you felt the soft cotton that was resting around your ankles. You were still shivering from the fever but you felt like you could feel the stimulation of your clit in your toes. You needed more.Â
You moved your hand from your plush breast to rest right at your soaked opening. You circled your middle finger a few times just to get it wet, and sank right into your leaking entrance. âOh fuuuuuckâ. You could feel the pressure of the finger at your walls as you started to curve your finger inside of yourself searching for your g-spot. You continued rubbing your clit and curling your finger inside of you hoping to seek your elease. It felt so good but it just wasn't enough. You slipped in another finger and moaned at the intrusion. You started to pant and whine with how good you were feeling, but you felt yourself needing more. You continued the calculated movements and felt your orgasm approaching. You just needed a little more. One more push to get you there. One curl of your finger turned to two, then to three, then the pleasure turned into frustration. âFuuuuuuck.â You groaned as you pulled your fingers from your body and layed on the mattress in a heap of sweat and frustration. You felt yourself slowly drift back into the unconscious void even as you worked to steady your breaths. Â
---
âShe sucked my fingers. Wanted me to fuck her. With my fingers. Uh she begged me to. And she was down to her knickersâ Gaz confessed as he dropped his eyes to his combat boots, too unsure to look at his team.Â
âDid you lad?â Price probed.Â
âNo, I couldn't do it. I really thought about it and I- I don't know. She definitely has a fever though.â
âHm.â Was all that left Price's mouth.Â
âWe're gonna have to check up on her. Make sure her heart isn't working too hard and see how to keep her satiated. For her sake.â Simon stated matter of factly.Â
âDoes it say it has to be expelled through âsexual intercourseâ or can she just, ya know, uh.. âGet thereâ, and work it out her system.â Soap questioned, looking toward Price and seeking the answers he normally has.Â
âJohnny. It says coitus.â Simon replied.Â
âNo oneâs gonna fuck her like this. Itâs not right.â Gaz stated.
âWhat if we have to?â Soap doubted.
âMaybe we should see if an orgasm is the solution. If that doesn't work then last resort, someone will do what needs to be done.â Price said with a sense of finality.Â
---
You felt the press of two fingers at your carotid artery and shivered at the warmth they offered. You fluttered your eyes open and nearly jumped out of your skin when they met dark brown ones behind a human skull mask. Youâd seen Simon before and regularly worked with him but you'd never woken to him standing over you like the grim reaper. Â
âJesus, Simon.âÂ
ââJust checking your heart rate.â He confirmed. Simon almost always has his gloves on. To feel his fingers at your neck had you craving more of his touch. You grabbed his hand that was at your neck and splayed it across your jugular. You looked up at him with full, pleading eyes and felt him squeeze a bit. A light moan left your lips as you begged him to squeeze harder. The groan that left his mouth would surely implant itself in the depths of your mind for years to come. The sound coming from him went straight to your core and you felt yourself clenching your thighs.Â
âSimon, please.â
âFuckinâ hell. Donât look at me like that. Not while you've got your knickers round your ankles.â
âPlease. Si. I need you. Iâm so fucking horny. I can feel everything Simon. Please just help me feel good. I promise Iâll be good. You can use me however you want. However you need to. Please.â
âDon't say that y/n.â He turned his gaze away from your face.Â
âI mean it. Please help me.â
âJust my fingers darling.âÂ
âYes. Yes, thank you so much.â You nodded your head eagerly and bit down on your lip. If your fingers weren't working to get you there, maybe his would. You parted your legs for him and he hung his head and rolled his shoulders while he let out a deep âFuckâ. His grip on your neck tightened and you felt your head go light. âOh fuck yes.â His other hand made its way between your plush legs and ran between your folds. Simonâs eyes were locked onto your pussy and he was in awe of how wet you were. He knew what the toxins effects on you were but to see them in person had him stiff as a board in his pants. Fuck this was so wrong of him. He knew he wanted to help you but part of him was living out his sick and twisted fantasies. To have you, a stunning woman, dripping wet and begging for him to fuck you, heâd be insane to not feel at least a bit aroused. He dragged a finger around your clit and almost purred at the whine that left your lips. He continued to make slow and tedious circles around your clit.Â
âSimon, please I need more. Can you - mmm fuck- can you fuck me?â How could he deny you when youâve asked him so nicely.Â
âOnly with my fingers, darling.â He slipped in two fingers and groaned at how tight you were. Your back arched so deeply and he wondered to himself what it would be like to be behind you when you arched like that. Simon began to work his fingers inside of you. He started with slow but deep pumping motions and moved onto scissoring his fingers inside of you searching for that special spot that he knows will make you tick. Your breath hitched in your throat and you let out a long high pitched squeal.Â
âIs that it, darling? Right there? Hm?â He beamed with a sense of condescension that made your pussy tighten on his fingers.Â
âOh fuck Simon. Please, please let me cum.â His fingers were hitting all of the right parts of you and you felt your orgasm nearing.Â
âOf course you can come, darling. Fucking soak my fingers. I know you need it. Come on, darling.â
You slid your hand down to your clit and rubbed it in furious circles. His grip tightened on your neck and you felt fuzzy everywhere. âCum all over my fingers. Make a mess, why don't you.â And at that final comment from Simon, you felt the band within you snap as you had one of the most intense orgasms of your life. Your toes curled and your back was nearly curved into a C shape. Your pussy clenched and unclenched as Simon continued his assault. You felt your ears ringing from the intensity of the orgasm and felt like you lost hearing for a little moment. As you panted and tried to recover from your climax, Simon removed his drenched fingers from you, lifted his mask to just below his nose, and brought his hand up to his mouth. He locked eyes with you and you watched him in amazement as he cleaned you from his fingers. Your eyes flutter at how intense the sight was. His strong jaw, scarred but pink lips, and traces of stubble left you wanting more. He moved the hand that was on your neck back to your pulse point to check your heart rate.
âItâs slowed a bit. Get some rest," and with that he left the room and you felt yourself slip from consciousness.

out of curiosity, why do you like sturgeons so much?
A chance to info dump about my favorite fish!
I grew up in the Great Lakes area of North America, where fishing is pretty popular but everyone knows that fish populations arenât anything like âthe good old daysâ when people took out huge numbers of fish while messing up their spawning sites. I got pretty into fishing when I found out that I could catch bluegill in the surrounding farm ponds, and once in a while my family took me to an isolated fishing cabin for vacation, but for years I never encountered a wild fish bigger than a kilogram or two.
BUT THENâŠ
I found out about sturgeon! They were HUGE fish that had once lived in the rivers and lakes all around my home, and better yet, fish almost exactly like modern sturgeon had existed all the way back in the Cretaceous period alongside the dinosaurs, and they STILL EXIST TODAY!!! The fact that small numbers of these huge dinosaur fish still existed made them seem almost like a real-life lake monster/cryptid, except that we had proof of their existence!
Furthermore, thereâs just nothing else like them. Sturgeon get big. Like, REALLY big. The record for the largest sturgeon was almost 11 meters/24 feet long, which is colossal for freshwater animals. They have armor plates of bone running down their sides, and at the same time they donât have bony skeletons. They also have a crazy mouth structure, which allows them to actually pop their jaws out like a tube and suck up food. And on top of all of this, the adults are absolute tanks. Iâve seen skin nearly 8mm thick, and itâs so tough that people make leather out of it, and they occasionally lose fins or even entire gill plates and just keep on swimming! (I found out about that last one when I tried to wrestle a big female out of a river and my hand went straight into her gills. She didnât seem that bothered by it!)
For a long time I filed sturgeon along with Alligator Gar, Giant Mekong catfish, and Yangtze paddlefish as a semi-legendary fish that may still exist, but I was never going to see except possibly in an aquarium, until I enrolled in graduate school. For those unfamiliar with grad school in the US, it typically involves both high-level classes as well as an independent research project the student designs and carries out with help from an experienced professor. When my mentor asked what kind of thing I wanted to study, I tossed out âsturgeonâ as one such possibility, expecting to hear that I would probably have to limit myself to more common/accessible species.
I was blown away when she said âActually, I think I know a guyâŠâ
For the next several years, I got to ride along collecting wild adult sturgeon, gathering eggs, and raising the baby fish in a lab and in a hatchery. I was holding something that I had thought of as a semi-mythical lake/river monster in my own hands! I got to see a river choked with giants as big as 2 meters long, and I got to hold a 5-centimeters mottled baby whose armored scutes were still sharp and possessed the little arrowhead shape and big black pectoral fins that remind me of Mickey Mouse ears! In the video below you can even see a little heartbeat! (Donât worry, this little guy was returned to the tank soon after to recover from his anesthesia!)
Sadly, I didnât find anything super groundbreaking in my research, but my experience DID land me a job working in sturgeon aquaculture! If youâve ever had caviar that wasnât poached, it probably came from a sturgeon farm, and if you want to see a lot of big fish up close, this is a good place to do it! I probably personally handled more individual sturgeon than there are wild fish in several sturgeon species. In addition, while the wild broodstock I mentioned above might reach 2 meters and over 50kg, the sturgeon I dealt with at the farm would easily double that, and there were a LOT of them! I got to see sturgeon behavior that had never been recorded in field guides, and even a few crazy one-in-a-million mutations like the infamous âghostâ sturgeon!
I even got the opportunity to cook my own sturgeon meat (Yeah, I basically turned into the Touden siblings from Dungeon Meshi except for sturgeon instead of RPG monsters). I got pretty good at making smoked sturgeon, but the meat is also good on the grill or baked, and people have been cooking them in various ways for centuries.
My favorite part of the job was physically wrestling the big fish! Sturgeon are easier to grab than other fish with the right know-how, but a human-sized fish often has its own plans for the day and wonât always cooperate. I was pretty good at moving the adults by the time I left that job, but it was still a wild rodeo every time!
Even more exciting was how we spawned each new generation of sturgeon. In the wild, they form massive spawning runs in big rivers that in the past would be enough to tip small boats, but in a lab or farm we have to use other means. Iâll spare you the details, but I am one of a small number of people who have surgically extracted eggs from a live sturgeon and sutured them back up to swim another day.
The tldr of this essay is that sturgeon are a big, crazy-unique fish that have been around a long time, and Iâve spent a lot of my career handling and working with them. Thereâs just nothing like them for a fish nerd and theyâre damn cool!
(Clip art not mine, I think @sturgeonposting drew or shared it!)

I will write this thought about Veganism and Classism in the USA in another post so as to not derail the other thread:
There are comments in the notes that say meat is only cheaper than plant based foods because of subsidies artificially lowering the price of meat in the United States. This is...part of the story but not all of it.
For my animal agriculture lab we went to a butcher shop and watched the butcher cut up a pig into various cuts of meat. I have had to study quite a bit about the meat industry in that class. This has been the first time I fully realized how strongly the meat on a single animal is divided up by socioeconomic class.
Like yes, meat cumulatively takes more natural resources to create and thus should be more expensive, but once that animal is cut apart, it is divided up between rich and poor based on how good to eat the parts are. I was really shocked at watching this process and seeing just how clean and crisp an indicator of class this is.
Specifically, the types of meat I'm most familiar with are traditionally "waste" parts left over once the desirable parts are gone. For example, beef brisket is the dangly, floppy bit on the front of a cow's neck. Pork spareribs are the part of the ribcage that's barely got anything on it.
And that stuff is a tier above the "meat" that is most of what poor people eat: sausage, hot dogs, bologna, other heavily processed meat products that are essentially made up of all the scraps from the carcass that can't go into the "cuts" of meat. Where my mom comes from in North Carolina, you can buy "livermush" which is a processed meat product made up of a mixture of liver and a bunch of random body parts ground up and congealed together. There's also "head cheese" (made of parts of the pig's head) and pickled pigs' feet and chitlin's (that's made of intestines iirc) and cracklin's (basically crispy fried pig skin) and probably a bunch of stuff i'm forgetting. A lot of traditional Southern cooking uses basically scraps of animal ingredients to stretch across multiple meals, like putting pork fat in beans or saving bacon grease for gravy or the like.
So another dysfunctional thing about our food system, is that instead of people of each socioeconomic class eating a certain number of animals, every individual animal is basically divided up along class lines, with the poorest people eating the scraps no one else will eat (oftentimes heavily processed in a way that makes it incredibly unhealthy).
Even the 70% lean ground beef is made by injecting extra leftover fat back into the ground-up meat because the extra fat is undesirable on the "better" cuts. (Gross!)
I've made, or eaten, many a recipe where the only thing that makes it non-vegan is the chicken broth. Chicken broth, just leftover chicken bones and cartilage rendered and boiled down in water? How much is that "driving demand" for meat, when it's basically a byproduct?
That class really made me twist my brain around about the idea of abstaining from animal products as a way to deprive the industry of profits. Nobody eats "X number of cows, pigs, chickens in a lifetime" because depending on the socioeconomic class, they're eating different parts of the animal, splitting it with someone richer or poorer than they are. If a bunch of people who only ate processed meats anyway abstained, that wouldn't equal "saving" X number of animals, it would just mean the scraps and byproducts from a bunch of people's steaks or pork chops would have something different happen to them.
The other major relevant conclusion I got from that class, was that animal agriculture is so dominant because of monoculture. People think it's animal agriculture vs. plant agriculture (or plants used for human consumption vs. using them to feed livestock), but from capitalism's point of view, feeding animals corn is just another way to use corn to generate profits.
People think we could feed the world by using the grain fed to animals to feed humans, but...the grain fed to animals, is not actually a viable diet for the human population, because it's literally just corn and soybean. Like animal agriculture is used to give some semblance of variety to the consumer's diet in a system that is almost totally dominated by like 3 monocrops.
Do y'all have any idea how much of the American diet is just corn?!?! Corn starch, corn syrup, corn this, corn that, processed into the appearance of variety. And chickens and pigs are just another way to process corn. That's basically why we have them, because they can eat our corn. It's a total disaster.
And it's even worse because almost all the USA's plant foods that aren't the giant industrial monocrops maintained by pesticides and machines, are harvested and cared for by undocumented migrant workers that get abused and mistreated and can't say anything because their boss will tattle on them to ICE.
