Carlos sighs as he finally gets his turn at the bar. He orders a couple of drinks for himself and Paul and a mocktail he hopes TK will like. 

He turns, leaning an elbow on the bar, and searches the crowd for TK. He’s easy to spot; there’s something about him that draws Carlos’ eye- even in the crowded club.

He’s making his way through the crowded room, trying to find somewhere with enough room for them to rest without having to sit on top of each other. Not that Carlos would mind, but he’s sure Paul wouldn’t want the show. 

TK is seated for no longer than ten seconds when he’s approached by two men, and jealousy burns in Carlos’s chest- even though TK isn’t technically his to stake a claim to. 

He watches the interaction, finding himself relieved as TK declines the invitation, and he wonders how and when he became so fond of the firefighter. When he’s with TK, everything just feels so right, and he aches for the day when he can feel like that all the time.

“Your boyfriend is popular tonight,” the bartender says as he takes Carlos’ card. 

“Oh, he’s not my boyfriend.”

“He friend-zoned someone who looks like you? He must be crazy.”

“I just don’t want to push, is all,” Carlos says, taking his card back and tucking it in his wallet. 

“Well, if you don’t snatch him up, someone else will,” he says, pointing.

Carlos whips around but relaxes when he realizes it’s just Paul.  “Thanks.” Carlos gathers his drinks and makes his way back to the table. 

Carlos hands them their drinks and sits next to TK, casually putting his hand on TK’s knee. 

“Stay over tonight? I don’t have a shift tomorrow. I can make us breakfast,” Carlos says, hoping the food will entice him. It’s the first time he’s explicitly invited TK to stay the night, and he’s not sure how he’ll respond. 

“Yeah, okay,” TK agrees. “Hey, you want to step outside for a second? I could use some…fresh air.”

Carlos nods even though he knows fresh air is a code for something that could probably get him charged with indecent exposure if they get caught. “Let’s go.” 

TK grabs his hand and stands, and Carlos lets himself be led out of the club.

Favourite Lone Star Fandom Memories

Oh boy where to begin! I have so many good memories of this show! Watching it, being in the fandom, reading fics & so much more!

1. How Tarlos & Lone Star was the first time I think I truly started to be so involved in fandom

So there are a lot of books & TV shows/movies that I had read/watched before Lone Star. And a few months before I knew about Lone Star, I read Red, White & Royal Blue. RWRB is what brought me back to Tumblr after like 5 years & also what got me reading fics again after almost 10 years. I started engaging in fandom because of that. And it is through some of the mutuals from RWRB fandom that I got introduced to Tarlos (more on that below). Now back to my point- although I had started engaging in fandom through RWRB, it was after starting Lone Star that I truly deeply started engaging in fandom as a whole. Interacting with other fellow fans, reading & commenting on fics, being a part of post-episode analysis & discussion about what happened, encouraging (more like pestering lol 😂) my bestie (I was also the one who introduced her & some of my other friends to RWRB around the same time) to watch it is something that I hadn't done to a great extent in any of the previous fandoms.

2. TARLOS

So after Push aired, I started seeing gifs of the "breath baby breath" scene & that is how I got introduced to this fandom. I was like who are these guys? What is going on? And then I saw a few YouTube clips of that scene & I was like ok I'm watching this show. And truly the story of Tarlos is so beautiful! I love that there is no cheating/love triangle drama. Because I've seen that in some of my older fandoms & I just love how they didn't show that with these two you know?

3. The cast

The cast is so incredibly talented! I love the way they portray the characters! Prior to watching Lone Star, the only cast member I had seen in the stuff I had watched was Rob Lowe in Holiday in the Wild & in Parks & Rec. But now there's this whole group of people that I would love to watch anything else that they star in!

4. Live watching

Season 5 was the first season that I truly watched live. Before that, season 3 & 4 I would watch on Disney+ an hour after it aired as that is when the new episodes would become available on Disney+ in the country where I was at that time. So truly live watching has been so much fun! Getting to see what happens & reacting to it in real time, reading other people's reactions has been amazing! And eating Cheetos while live watching- thanks for reminding me of that @lemonlyman-dotcom & your food tag game was my favorite part of my pre-show ritual!

5. Fics

The fics! Need I say more? The fics I've read in his fandom have been so amazing, incredible & brilliant! And the number of times I've re-read some of the fics!

6. My favorite episodes & specific moments from them

Watching & rewatching some of the episodes because I just love the things that happened in them! The soulmate scene has to be one of my top favs because the way it altered my brain chemistry! The Tarlos wedding vows, the proposal, bad call, saving grace, the police station scene from 1x03, the hospital scene from 1x08, PUSH, riddle of the sphynx, Lou 1 & Lou 2, Marjan & Joe's wedding and so many more!

I absolutely loved doing this so much!

9-1-1 Tag Game

Favorite Character

Besides one Tommy Kinard? Bobby Nash. I love that Minnesotan man an irrational amount. I want to make Bobby a Tator Tot Hotdish and go to a Wild game with him.

Character you relate to the most

Ya'll ready for the bullet list of characters i relate to and why?

Tommy Kinard- while I had an easy time accepting my own queerness, I lived most of my life feeling unsafe being out. I have a mask I wear built of being confident in my self, to hide the fact I am incredibly uncomfortable in my own skin and don't often feel like I am good enough.

Bobby Nash- it's the Minnesota culture, but also struggling with self medicating poor mental health in harmful self destructive ways

Maddie Han- fun fact for ya'll! I was married once before Mr. Bangpop. My ex-husband was an emotionally manipulative and abusive bastard, and I survived him. But I also had crippling post party depression after giving birth to Monkey.

Favorite Episode

Chimney Begins, hand down, will not take any criticism at any time. It has some of the best story telling tying together the threads of the version of Chimney in season 1 and the version we see Chimney become through the rest of the series. We are given so much more backstory on the 118 pre-Bobby, are introduced to multiple other first responders, and we get to see Chimney's relationship with Eli, we get to see how Eli informs who Chimney is as a peer to Bobby, and later as a mentor to Ravi. It is also where we learn the most about Chimney's family and Chimney's relationships outside of Hen and his romantic partners. Plus the editing tieing together his begins story and Chimney having been stabbed beautifully incorporated his episode into the seasons arc.

The only other episode that comes close to Chimney begins for me is Bobby Begins Again.

Hottest Take

Taylor wasn't a bad girlfriend, or a bad person. She just had different priorities than Buck and she wasn't Eddie.

Favorite Lone Star Character

Tk Strand. I love him. He has gone through so much, he could so easily have been someone who is jaded and angry with a let the world burn mentality. But he isn't, he still loves, he still cares, he cares so much. And to paraphrase Eli Cobb, Tk is a care giver, that's what he does he goes out there and gives care.

Favorite Ship

I'm sure everyone will be absolutely shocked to learn my favorite ship is Bucktommy or Tarlos from Lone Star.

Most Underrated Character

Henrietta Wilson.

OH HO. You caught me. I did not abide by the rules of my own ask game! It's okay I love you for this so much, thank you for sending me my own questions and please see below (with apologies):

1. What is your favourite scene in the source material?

Lone Star - Pre-season 4, I would have said either the proposal (since it got me into Lone Star), or the police station scene. NOW...I say definitely the soulmates scene in 4 x 16 - I go into a semi rabid state every time I watch it, I love it so much.

RWRB - I love the humour in RWRB, and I think my favourite scene is the Powerpoint Presentation saga. However, I think the scene that I love the most when I think of firstprince is the lakehouse scene - HEAR ME OUT. It's just such a good scene, there's so much tension, so much angst and you can SEE how in love Alex is and how terrified Henry is of realising he is the recipient of everything he's ever wanted and everything he's never allowed himself to dream of having.

3. If you had to remove one scene from the source material, what would it be?

Lone Star - The fight scene in 2 x 12. I'm so sorry, I know people like that scene, I just hate how they get physical with each other. Makes me cringe. I'm like NO DON'T!!!! Every time.

RWRB - HOT CONTROVERSY but I'd probably take out the "Alex and Henry in the bathroom together" part in the karaoke night. Whenever I read that I'm like no but someone def saw them in there and knew who they were. I think it's because I find it unrealistic that stuff like that wouldn't end up on Deux Moi lol.

10. If you had to make an entire movie/book out of one side character, which side character would it be and why?

Lone Star - Since LS is the Rob Lowe show, do we count TK and Carlos as side characters? I would like a Tarlos show please! If not, I would love to see a Paul show where Paul does literally anything. I love Paul.

RWRB - I'd love to see a book about the PPOs - Amy, Cash etc. and how much grief firstprince put them through. We could put Zahra and Shaan in there too...just the horrors of having to deal with two international lovesick idiots would be my favourite thing.

One of our favorite TV couples was just featured as a Jeopardy! clue!

On the March 29 episode of the popular TV game show Jeopardy!, there was an entire category dedicated to “Tough Guy TV,” which certainly describes plenty of the shows we love, including 9-1-1: Lone Star. So when our favorite first responder couple showed up as a clue, we were delighted!

“Tough on the streets of Austin, tender with his boyfriend, Officer Carlos Reyes is on this show with an emergency number in its title,” the clue read.

Unfortunately, there were no Tarlos fans among the players. One rang in and guessed “What is Reno 9-1-1,” leading to host Ken Jennings to laugh and reply, “No. I do like that show, but this is 9-1-1: Lone Star, very different vibe.”

Officer Carlos Reyes and his boyfriend, paramedic TK Strand, have been together on 9-1-1: Lone Star since early in the show. They met in the pilot when TK had just moved to Texas with his father and Carlos approached him in a honky-tonk bar and asked for a dance.

They became an official couple towards the end of the first season and moved in together in season two.

In the season three finale, TK took the plunge and asked Carlos to marry him. “For the first time in my life, the love that I feel is infinitely more powerful than the fear of losing it,” he said to Carlos. “And every moment that we're not married is a wasted moment, and baby, we only get so many.”

The current, fourth season, has followed the couple as they encounter pre-wedding bumps, including Carlos being previously married, TK’s dad trying to take over, and of course, all the natural and unnatural disasters that happen on the show every week.

Idk why but that gif set of 1x05 Tarlos leaning up against the Camaro and his Carlos is looking at TK really makes me drool for some post season 1 pre season 2 content. Like this is how in love Carlos looks at him and they aren’t even dating. 5 whole episodes later and TK is still trying to deny they are a thing. Then by the end of the episode they’re dating and I just KNOW Carlos went all in after that. He was sitting in that juice bar trying to play it cool but mans was shaking in his boots. Can you imagine after TK gave him the green light?? What did they do?? Breakfast in bed?? Is Tarlos a fancy restaurant type??

The tension of season one is just really unmatched. Their chemistry, the sexual tension, the way they look at each other, even as they're both being so careful. TK's trying not to fall in love because he thinks he'll tarnish this good man and Carlos trying not to come on way too strong even tho he wants to propose after their second date. It's delicious

Top Five Tarlos Moments

Post Season 4 Edition

Thanks @bonheur-cafe for the tag! Okay so, picking favorites of anything is so hard for me. Everything is my favorite. I love it all. @bluenet13 knows this better than anyone and it makes her life very difficult lol. But I’m going to try. Don’t hold me to these in a court of law please. 

1. Soulmates- This was SO unexpected and I swear my soul left my body for a minute. To hear such an incredible declaration of love from Carlos, to get confirmation that he fell so hard and fast for T.K., and to discover that T.K. was terrified of what a beautiful person he’d just found was simply stunning.

2. Proposal- I mean, it’s perfect. Again, an amazing declaration of love, done is such a uniquely T.K. way, Carlos’ surprise (IS THE LIZARD BACK?!) and the way they both just kind of fall apart and curl up into each other is 😍

3. Breathe- Listen. I hated this whole arc, okay? I was so stressed about every single forking second of it. I just like it when the people are happy! But my god, what a reunion. T.K. coming to and immediately knowing what Carlos needed. And the broken, barely there, had to watch it six times to be sure “I love you” that he whispers. The way he pulls Carlos into himself and the way Carlos falls apart 😭😭😭.  And I know that stupid background music is from a stupid can and I should hate it but damn it, it makes me feel things. 

4. Kidnapping Reunion- The one where TNT gets taken. Guys. It’s the whump. The whump gets me. The fear, the relief, the passing out in his boyfriend’s arms. Exquisite. 

5. Cake Smash- I will die on the hill of the cake smash. YOU SHOULD HAVE KEPT IT IN TIMOTHY. To see them HAPPY, to see them CELEBRATING, to see them finally getting this incredible moment they’ve both earned in blood and sweat and tears and grief, we deserved it. Carlos going unexpectedly messy and T.K. loving every second of it is so freaking precious. And the kiss. My god the kiss. It’s so soft and sweet and I adore it. 

OKAY BUT ALSO I REALLY LOVE THE DARTS SCENE AND LOU AND THE CAR UNDER THE NORTHERN LIGHTS AND THE COUCH SEX AND THE PRE-FIRE SEX.

Rambling thoughts while rewatching Episode 4x12 “Swipe Left”

Carlos tells TK he is putting too much pressure on this – but says that after listing out his whole ass tea box

Lol – it’s supposed to be fun

My research had told me that the Rabbi would most likely want Carlos to convert.

My 42 years on this planet told me that Tom would be a douchey religious dude that thinks any and all queers are going to hell – I have quite literally heard it my entire life

No wonder that I am so repulsed by organized religion (I don’t care what you practice – just don’t put your beliefs on me.)

I do agree with the Rabbi on not listening to outside forces

TK thought that when Carlos told him that he was married – it was the last of the “difficult conversations”.

Like I said before – If your partner says there is a gaping chasm – there is one.

When can we stop using comas for why we don’t communicate? There have been 26 episodes since the last coma. Just fucking talk.

Or making the secret wife jokes – Each time – TK’s face has NOT been amused – but ha ha funny fucking joke. Please keep joking about the lie you kept from me for our whole relationship.

Carlos’ tone is very dismissive in the kitchen – I get that he likes to avoid things, but that was really trying to avoid it. Not just about the kids thing – but about TK telling him that he feels a rift growing due to their lack of communication on the subject.

I really strongly dislike Mitch Geralds, his wife too but he is just so instantly punchable.

He is lucky he met the 126 post Owen’s punching people stage

He reminds me of a creepy dude that I know – appearance and personality.

High quality manure for a low-quality couple

I love that they brought him in for her love interest.

She really is/was the only one not currently coupled off

I feel like Marjan has had the most consistent storyline this season.

I love the pre-dating training sessions

“How many princes did you kiss babe?” Mateo – I love you – never change

Also – so valid of Nancy to just move on with her dating tutorial as if he hadn’t spoken.

So, is Owen’s safe word rutabaga?

Not sure who was more enamored with the cheating cheater who cheats, but I think it might have been Owen – Marj didn’t go on a fried chicken bender

No fucking thank you on 8 kids – also especially not with that super douche. However – at least he is up front with his preferred spawn count.

I love that she asked on how they would feel about her working after marriage – For her – that is such a huge part of who she is.

Are people still that nuts about Harry Potter? I know that they had to movies & the stupid game that is/coming out, but are people still as into it as that dude was?

So, do we think he really does dog rescue crowd sourcing or did he just google image a dog with deformities for compassion points?

How many days passed in this episode? There were 4 dates in one day, right?

So the training was 1-2 days (I am guessing based on clothing) they probably started the training sessions that shift – so that would be day 1, then day 2 was with Tarlos.

Then the dates – all 4 in one day makes sense – but would it really be that easy to set all 4 up with a 1-day notice?

Plus the officiant day before the shift

Then the shift where they commiserate over dating issues

Leading into the pregnant lady rescue

Then Tarlos talk to their parents – another day (Could be the same day as the shift of commiseration)

Then the next day when they talk at the end

So at least a week total?

This talk in the bunk room makes me very happy that I haven’t had to date since 2007.

Dating rules are fucking stupid and I LOVE NANCY for that.

“You sure you’ve never dated before?” – Mateo

She is so cute though when he texts her – but not as cute as she is with Yusef.

At first, I thought that they set her up with the guys and chaperoned for the one they set up – until Owen fell in love & Mateo made a new friend.

I feel like working the desk in a no-tell motel would be both fascinating and sad as fuck.

I guess Judd had the day off

“Avoid? I don’t avoid.” says Carlos Avoid & Deflect Reyes

This is among the best advice that Owen has given throughout the series

I like that throughout the episode neither of them doubts the love of or for the other.

The only irritating thing for me was Andrea telling Carlos it wasn’t true when he told her that he had only had a relationship with Gabriel until 2 years ago. – That isn’t for her to decide or determine. I would love to get to explore that a bit more – but with Gabriel

I do think that my spec fic was pretty right in the big ways (other than the very self-indulgent venue burning).

I like that we got a confirmation that Paul & Asha are together

Babe - you could have bought a cat – it would be a pet you could pet & wouldn’t cause too many nightmares.

Also – I don’t love that impression either, but I love that they are comfortable being dorks together.

The closing scene in this is the growth I needed to see in Carlos. This was him actually speaking, something that he was truly worried about (he even said as much to his mother in why he hadn’t talked about it before), but doing it anyway. Telling TK that he didn’t want kids, may not ever want them. He knew that TK might not be ok with it, but he still did it.

Through the episode, it felt to me that TK was trying to come to terms with his life picture changing, leading him to the conclusion that, for him, being with Carlos is the more important part of the picture, and he was ok with that. It just took time and thinking.

Lets hope that Carlos can continue having the hard talks instead of deflecting from them.

1. On one hand, I just want them to be happy and soft because they deserve it. On the other hand, I know that doesn’t make for compelling TV. So in addition to the Gabriel thing, I’d probably have Carlos develop an addiction of his own. Maybe it’s like, stimulants because he’s putting so much time and effort into finding who killed his father. But TK is in denial for the longest time because Carlos would never do that, and once he realizes that he’s wrong, it puts TK’s own recovery to the test getting Carlos the help he needs, but he pulls through and gets Carlos on the path to recovery as well. I know, I’m terrible, I’m sorry.

2. Either Julius to make Tommy’s life with Trevor very complicated, or Billy because I can’t help it, I love Billy. Or Alex trying to win TK back, just so I can watch Carlos could punch him out.

3. If it wasn’t for the identical cousin storyline Mateo had, I thought it would’ve been absolutely hilarious if they did House crossover and Owen’s other ex-wife was Lisa Cuddy, also played by Lisa Edelstein. But since they already did this kind of with Mateo, I’m going to be boring and say another 911 crossover would be cool. More of TK clocking Buck from a mile away and Eddie conveniently entering the scene immediately after, please and thanks, because that was so funny.

4. A Halloween episode for sure. I hate to say anything nice ever about Riverdale, but I loved the “3 different vignettes in one” episodes they’d do, especially the one in season 2. I think it would be REALLY cool to do something like that, where we have one story with Carlos investigating Gabriel’s murder solo and things get creepy, and then another story of the 126 showing up to a call except it’s to an abandoned asylum or something and they find out no one actually called (it’s like a ghost call), and then a third story of maybe Grace and the Wyatt and Charlie having a Halloween night in but it goes very “The Strangers” on them and someone is trying to break into their house but it’s really just like Judd’s daddy or someone totally innocuous.

5. A part of me wants to say the absolute blatant rip off of the Gabby Petito case, but I love Marjan centric episodes and there are not enough of them. So uh… probably the Owen stalker storyline. I don’t need more of Rob Lowe stroking his own ego on my screen.

6. Either Jensen Ackles or Timothy Olyphant as the new like, lead Texas Ranger. Basically taking over Gabriel’s position. And he would either a) be really keen on working with Carlos to help solve the murder because he has history with Gabriel or b) is behind the murder of Gabriel. Or both!

7. Ugh, this is so hard. I love both! I think he’s happier as a paramedic, but I wish he’d have more to do than drop the “BP is whatever over whatever, Cap!” line. Plus, I miss the little rivalry between him and Carlos when TK was AFD. I think I like him better as a firefighter, but I’m good with either.

8. REYES, TEXAS RANGER. I really wanted Detective Reyes, but I totally respect Carlos’s want to save people rather than figure out the case after the damage has been done. That being said, I kind of have a sneaking suspicion that a fellow ranger did Gabriel in, and I feel like Carlos will both NEED to get into the rangers to figure that piece out, and will WANT to next season to honor his father. Also, Team Carlos in a Cowboy Hat.

9. A Carlos flashback if I had to pick. IDK, I feel like TK has a lot of episodes that kind of center his trauma, so we know a LOT about TK, and less about Carlos. So it’d be nice to see more of his story, pre-TK.

10. A new partner for Carlos. You know… because he becomes a ranger… bonus if it causes a little bit of tension between him and TK like Cooper did! (I like the angst, I can’t help it)

11. Lou II! I love reptiles and TK being a lizard boy and Carlos being sketched out by them… all of it is adorable.

12. I’m gonna say Carlos’s sisters, just because I don’t think we’ll see much of TK’s cousins going forward unless Sydney decides to come after Owen for assisted suicide. Which would not surprise me in the least.

13. Andrea calling TK mijo. I just love it so much!

14. Reyes-Strand. I like the flow of Tyler Kennedy Reyes-Strand and Carlos Tomas Reyes-Strand better than Strand-Reyes.

TWP word of the day prompt: pain

Just a silly little thing I’ve had mostly finished for a while. Pre-Tarlos, takes place mid-season 1. Off-screen Carlos whump.

“Ugh,” Carlos groans in pain as he unbuckles his seat belt.

“Here, I’ll come around,” TK offers, sliding out of the car and hurrying around to the passenger side where Carlos had already opened the door and was slowly trying to get out of the car.

“I got it,” he murmurs. TK watches as he manages to get out of the car okay but then turns too quickly, jarring his broken ribs and he almost crumples to the ground. “Fuck,” he murmurs.

“Take a second,” TK says. “Just take a couple of deep breaths.”

“That hurts too,” Carlos complains. He takes a few shallow breaths and then slowly starts making his way up the walkway. “I didn’t realize pain was so exhausting, I just want to lay down in my own bed and sleep for the next week.”

“I’m guessing this is your first broken rib?” TK asks. “I don’t recommend laying down. It’ll probably be harder for you to breathe, and it’s going to hurt like a bitch to get up.” Carlos digs his keys out of his pocket as TK talks. TK takes the keys while Carlos leans heavily against the doorframe, panting shallowly. “Speaking from experience, I really recommend a recliner. At least for the first couple of weeks.”

“I don’t have one,” Carlos points out as TK pushes the door open. He steps into the entryway and then pauses, staring at the battered gray recliner that had appeared in his livingroom. “At least I didn’t have one? Where did-?”

TK shrugs. “I mean, I’m a klutz and a half, in case you hadn’t noticed. That chair has gotten my dad and me through a few broken ribs. You can borrow it until you can get upstairs and into your own bed.”

“Ohhhh, my god. The stairs. All of my stuff is up there,” he gestures vaguely, looking distressed.

“Let’s get you settled down here, and then I’ll run up and get you what you need?” TK offers. Carlos nods and toes off his shoes, kicking them to the side, and he allows TK to ease his jacket off his shoulders. TK hangs it in the closet, and when he returns, Carlos was easing himself into the chair. TK hands him the prescription bottle with his pain meds and fetches him a glass of water. He watches as Carlos takes a couple of pills, and then makes sure the bottle and water are within easy reach for later.

“What else do you need from upstairs? A phone charger? Book? Do you want any other clothes?”

Carlos shakes his head on the clothes, but agrees to letting TK bring down the phone charger. TK returns with his arms full; Carlos’ current novel from the night stand, the charger, a couple blankets and the comforter off his bed.

TK sets the book down on the table and helps get him as comfortable as can be with the blanket and comforter.

“Thank you, TK,” Carlos whispers. “You really don’t have to fuss. I’ll be okay.”

“You really shouldn’t be alone,” TK says. “Are you sure you don’t want me to call your mom?”

“No! It’s fine!” Carlos exclaims. “She hates when I get hurt.” He yawns, “I’m probably going to sleep for the rest of the afternoon anyway.”

“Okay,” TK murmurs. Carlos closes his eyes, certain TK has something better to do than watch him lie around in pain. It doesn’t take long for the meds to kick in and he drifts off to sleep.

By the time Carlos wakes, it’s dark and the streetlights are shining through the window, right in Carlos’ face. He grabs his phone off the table to check the time, and then takes another pain pill.

He struggles to stand up, grunting softly at the pain, and makes his way down the hall to the bathroom. As he returns to the living room and passes the couch, he sees a TK-shaped lump, curled up sleeping.

He smiles fondly and slowly grabs the throw blanket off the back of the couch, draping it over TK’s sleeping form.

TK’s eyes flutter open and he sits up fully. “Carlos! What are you doing?”

“You stayed?”

“Well, yeah… Of course I stayed. In case you needed something. Do you need anything?”

“No,” Carlos shakes his head. “I just needed to…” He points to the general direction of the bathroom.

TK stands and ushers Carlos back to the chair. “Come on, you need to get some more rest.”

TK tucks him in once again and attempts to move past him when Carlos reaches for his hand. “Thank you. For staying.” Carlos sighs. “I really didn’t want to be alone,” he admits.

TK leans in and runs his fingers through Carlos’ hair and presses a soft kiss to Carlos’ forehead. He stays silent but gives Carlos’ arm a little squeeze. Carlos panics a little, worried he overstepped, when TK gives him a fond smile.

“Go back to sleep,” TK says, settling on the couch. “I’ll be here when you wake up,” he promises.

I can relate to Carlos alot. I hate confrontation, I hate being vulnerable with people, I don't like having difficult conversations.

This plotline with Carlos really imbues alot of meaning in the Tarlos scenes in season 1, how special a lot of these interactions with TK are to him. I maybe projecting but there's something about feeling like there's something inherently wrong with and then finding the person where everything feels right and thus, you don't want that person to see those parts because you don't want to lose that person that really resonates with me

Carlos compartmentalizes alot. I think there was life pre and post marrying Iris and life pre and post meeting TK. It's not right that he hid these very important things but I understand. I think TK understands too and TK knows that it isn't TK's fault that Carlos didn't feel ready. Tk just is so secure in his relationship with Carlos because Carlos accepts him that he can do the same with Carlos and accept him with his flaws and his past.

I word vomited alot but I love TK and Carlos so much and I'm excited for whatever storyline we'll get before the wedding.

I do that, too. I only share the absolutely necessary with people, even the ones i'm closest to, and that has lead to A LOT of issues, which is why I sympathise with Carlos a lot. It's something i'm trying to change, but I still do it, and it still causes problems and i can't tell you how glad i am to see him repeat these mistakes, because humans do that. They don't always learn from their mistakes, and even if they do, habits aren't always easy to break.

I'm excited for what's coming too!

To the anon asking about us fans knowing about the Tarlos breakup before hand the answer is "No, we did not know for sure." People were theorizing becasue Ronen teased a bomb shell that's dropped in episode 1 and Max confirmed that he missed it when it's first teased in the TK/Nancy scene when TK ask if Carlos was invited to the upcoming 126 hang but he avoided spoiling it in his arcticles that he dropped pre-episode. People started theorizing a break up being the bombshell for some reason. Then the day, just hours before the episode premiered, an article with Tim came out where he talked about how breaking people apart and bringing them back together was one of the 911 universes specialties and how they were doing that during the ice storm arc and people were like all pissed that Tarlos might be broken up in the premiere. I remember Max being pissed that that article spoiled the breakup with when he tried so hard to avoid spoiling it in his articles. The breakup was not spoiled in any promos like you said Lemon. I believe the lack of Tarlos in any promos and a new Tarlos promo were one of the reasons why fans thought they may be broken up at the start of season 3.

(1) I don’t go back to rewatching the show too much, and it remains to be seen what the season 5 finale will look like (probably a bittersweet ever after), but I liked all 4 episodes for different reasons. 3x18 has a special place in my heart for being the finale with the most built-up “earned happy ending”, and I’ve said my piece on 4x18 in the last few weeks. For 2x14, I got a real “Empire Strikes Back-sequel darkest hour” vibe (actually 4x18 also shared those vibes but ANYWAY), even though the ending tones were different from each other (one tried to stay hopeful, the other stayed hopeful and then literally got a blow to the face); and 1x10 was solid all around.

(2) Best for last, I thought Tommy singing “Being Alive” blew the same performance from Glee out of the water (sorry and lowkey not sorry, Kurt Hummel) and the accompanying montage (yes, even the scenes with Wyatt, Grace, Charlie and Judd) was just? Poetic filmmaking imo.

(3) I could go on about missed opportunity plotlines… but main ones from each season? Hm… bear with me, there’s a lot of questions.

Season 1: What happens to Wayne, and does he stay friends with Owen? When does Carlos eventually learn about Iris post-solar storm, and how did the whole process of her staying on his health insurance policy work? Does Judd ever bring up old 126-crew traditions, and does he share them with the new 126? In-story, how do Owen and Zoe eventually end their relationship pre-pandemic? How went Marjan’s post-Hijabgate mosque search? And finally, do Nancy and Tim ever get setup for being accepted into the main 126’s family?

Season 2: Carlos does let TK know about how lonely and painful his closeted experience was with his family, but pre-limeless family dinner did he ever finally open up about how their seeming silence made him feel? How much time did TK get with Gwyn (not always including Owen) since the last few times he saw her in New York, and after she came to Austin to visit? Does the 118 keep in touch with TK, Judd, Mateo, Paul and Marjan after the wildfires in El Paso? (Hell, I wonder how Judd even knows [about] Chimney, and if he and Bobby ever get included in the loop about their new Texas friends.) And on the other end, did Tommy and Charles ever discuss/ start making plans to reopen the Sun & Salt before his unexpected death (maybe a mention of Julius or two added in for foreshadowing)?

Season 3: Do Lindsay and her family keep in touch with the 126, and Mateo with the 129 post-3x10? How about how O’Brien got that chip on his shoulder about firefighters? Was Gwyn ever informed about TK’s hypothermic coma before he woke up (I think she’d be absolutely livid at Owen for leaving TK on his own when he ran for the hills)? How deep was the possible heart-to-heart reconciliation between Billy, Judd and Grace for them to be chummy with each other again after the ice storm (and do he and Owen stay in touch after the pull-in ceremony)? Do Gwyn and Andrea ever get to meet and know each other (the latest character poll is just giving me horror and suspense)? Do TK, Carlos and Owen firmly decide to take the later flight to New York (I know Ronen speculated that they didn’t end up going, but still…) or skip the funeral altogether? Does Dave end up moving into another region in Texas, another state, or back to the UK, and how is he faring? And Judd probably should have had a paternity test done to confirm Wyatt’s genetic test results, right?

Season 4: Was Julius recast, and in-story did he get an invite to the Tarlos wedding (yes, the pianist in the background didn’t look like him, that’s why I wondered)? Does the downfall of Paragon ever make the news, and does it affect Pearce’s standing with the rest of the 126? Does Paul still have the occasional cardiac event scare after 3x09-3x10, and does Asha end up finding that out (along with how differently Paul remembers his school days pre-transition)? Did Mateo ever tell his extended family the truth about him and Marvin? And had there been no interruption, how much grievances would the 126 family have aired out with each other and in what ways would it have affected the team’s dynamic? On that note, does Tommy finally realize that her anger at Judd was misplaced post-Ferracia’s disaster and finally decides to apologize to him?

(4) At the end of season 5 (I ended up bending the rule a bit and added two characters), I’d like to see Paul maybe pursue an investigative career if his whole thing with Marjan and the fire captain’s position doesn’t end up panning out (like a law enforcement consultant or something, or take over Raymond’s old position as Arson Investigator), and maybe even get an update on how his sister and mom are faring since season 2), and Nancy getting her “Begins” story and a trauma recovery arc with help from TK, Mateo, her unseen sister, and Tommy.

(5) I’d like to see how cleanly these plot arcs are wrapped up without there being too many cliffhangers, honestly.
