Pairing: Geta x OFC

Summary: Having done the unthinkable to secure his throne, Emperor Geta rules with ruthlessness and paranoia. Now, after escaping an assassination attempt, a badly injured Geta is saved by Daphne, a young widow, who takes him back to her remote village without knowing his true identity. As Daphne nurses the former emperor back to health, attraction blooms between them, and Geta discovers a soft side he didn't know he possessed. But can their love survive his thirst for revenge and his desire to reclaim power?

He didn't know where he was going, and he didn't care. He only wanted to get far away, as far as he could, and to push himself until he could no longer think, could no longer see Daphne's horrified face in his mind's eyes.

In the end, that was what had made him leave. Not her fear of assassins—though he had to admit the thought had crossed his mind, that whoever was hunting him would hurt her, to reach him—not her anger at his lies, nor her disgust at his crimes. It was the look of utter betrayal in her eyes, completely devoid of warmth and affection and love, as though she no longer recognized him. That was when Geta knew no amount of begging or threats could have changed her mind. That was when he knew he had to go.

Fool, fool, fool! He should have told Daphne the truth months ago, when she had first found him. It might have made her afraid of him, but at least she wouldn't have hated him. Would she? Would she still love him then? Or would she simply leave him to die? 

He tried to focus his mind on the matter at hand to distract himself, or else he would break down on this road, and he couldn't have that. If nothing else, he still had his dignity. He may have lost his life, his power, and even his love, but he had to hold on to his dignity. Some precious dignity it was.

Where could he go? To Adala, and trying to find passage from there to Hemesos? He had no money left, though perhaps in Adala he could sell his ring to pay his way. His ring... Geta looked down at his hand with a humorless smile. Some poor sap would be holding the power of the entire Empire in his hand and wouldn't even know it.

And if he was able to reach Hemesos, what then? Find his aunt, if she was still alive, raise an army, and challenge Macrinus for the throne? At the thought of Macrinus and the throne, Geta was momentarily overwhelmed by a feeling of disgust, almost physical in its power. He no longer had any desire, or indeed any stomach, to rule, to seek revenge. Here his thoughts came back to Daphne, like ships flocking to the lighthouse of Alexandria, despite all his effort to keep his mind away from her. How unfair it was that she should discover the truth just as he decided to give it all up for her! But... what if he was to defeat Macrinus, not for the throne, but only to protect Daphne, to reassure her that no assassin would ever come for her? Would she take him back then? And even more importantly, could he come back to her then? If he did all that, would he still be the man she loved? Would he still be worthy of her, or would he revert to the tyrant he once had been, like a drunkard who had vowed to stay sober, only to fall back on excessive drinking once a drop of wine touched his lips again?

He walked until sundown. A brackish smell and the shaggy shapes of willow bushes rising out of the shadow told him he was close to the stream, which now must have been reduced to just a series of mud-filled pools due to the summer heat. The stream was on his left, so he was on the right path to Adala, only it was too dark to continue. The wind died down, and the maddening buzz of mosquitoes around his head got louder. He broke off a tree branch to swat at them, but they still landed on him and bit him until itchy welts broke out all over his arms and legs. The thought of the stream made him realize how thirsty he was, and with thirst came hunger as well. Strange how the body still craves sustenance even when the mind has no appetite for it.

He sat down next to a willow bush and continued to swat at the mosquitoes while listening to his stomach growl. He wondered if he could hunt a rabbit or a bird, until he remembered that he had no means to start a fire to cook it. Besides, he didn't know how to hunt. In Rome and Antioch, his past-time of choice had been racing, not hunting, while the "hunts" he'd often watched in the Colosseum were little more than staged executions, spectacles put on to satisfy the Roman thirst for bloodshed, utterly removed from real life.

For the first time since escaping his assassin, Geta found himself at a loose end, without knowing where or how he was going to spend the night. Before, he had always been taken care of by someone else, the slaves, the soldiers, or Daphne. Always Daphne. It was a bitter dose to swallow, this realization that she could very well live without him, but he couldn't live without her. What a useless, pathetic fool he was! Did he fancy himself a great military leader and a powerful emperor? He couldn't even survive on his own.

But sitting here feeling sorry for himself would not fill his stomach or save him from getting eaten alive by the mosquitoes. It was out of the question to go into the village—that would draw unwanted attention to himself. After some consideration, Geta struggled to his feet and walked further down the bank of the stream. He remembered when he and Daphne made their journey to Adala, they had run into a few shepherds and their dust-colored sheep along the way. Shepherds had to sleep and eat as well, so he hoped he may come across a shepherd's hut, where he could ask for food and shelter without raising too much suspicion.

His hope turned out to be futile, for there was no sign of habitation anywhere around him, no flickering fire, no soft bleats of a herd of sheep settling down for the night. What he did find though, was a wild fig tree, its branches laden with fruits, some so ripe that they had split open, sweet juice clinging to the purple skin like drops of honey under the pale starlight. He gorged himself, thanking Bacchus for the bounty. Although this hermit's meal did not fully satisfy him, the fruits soothed both his hunger and thirst. The wind picked up again, and the mosquitoes finally left him alone, so once the last fig had been consumed, he wrapped himself in his cloak and lay down amongst the willows.

Now that the discomfort of his body had subsided, he became aware of another pain, a strange weight on his chest, different from the breathlessness and the tightness of his lungs in the early days of his injuries. It took him a moment to realize that it was his heart that was wounded and bleeding this time. The sweet, gentle ache he often felt around Daphne had now turned agonizing with their separation, and his heart was crying out for her, crying and yearning in vain, until exhaustion sent him into a sorrowful, restless sleep.

He was in his mother's chamber at the palace. Outside, the riot raged on, the crowd chanting the names of the traitorous Acacius and his wife Lucilla, drowning out even the screams of those being cut down by mounted soldiers. Geta's hand shook as he pushed back the curtain to look at the heaving of torches and bodies at the foot of the Palatine Hill. There had been riots before, many since he and Caracalla took the thrones, but none as bad as this. He knew he'd made a mistake, executing the hero of Rome in such a public manner, but what else could he have done? Acacius and Lucilla had committed high treason, and examples must be made of them. Behind him, Julia Domna was trying to soothe his nerves, suggesting different ways to calm the crowd, perhaps getting out of Rome until the people had forgotten their anger. But Geta refused. He wouldn't run away. He couldn't have the people doubt his ability to rule. Their ability to rule. And where was his co-emperor now? Caracalla had gone somewhere, hidden like the coward that he was. 

And suddenly Caracalla was there in the chamber, looking ridiculous in his fancy clothes and jewelry, waving a blade in his hand. What a fraud. Caracalla didn't even know how to hold a sword, let alone use one. The old hatred surged within Geta as he took in the sight of his brother, temporarily eclipsing his fear. No. That hatred wasn't real. Caracalla couldn't help what he'd become, couldn't see beyond the rivalry that their father had unwittingly caused between them by forcing them to share everything. But Geta could. And he must convince Caracalla of that, so they could stay united and be a family, so they could weather this storm...

"You lie," said Caracalla with a snarl, gold tooth glinting. "You always lie!"

Before Geta knew what was happening, Caracalla rushed forward, sword drawn. The blade slashed across Geta's palm, yet he felt nothing. Their mother screamed. Geta shouted for the Praetorians, who ran into the chamber, only to pause and look between the two brothers in confusion. Which Emperor to save? Geta grabbed Caracalla's hand, wrestling for the sword. Their mother was shouting at the Praetorians to break them up. No, this wasn't real. The anger, the blood, none of it was real. Geta pleaded with his brother, reminded him of their childhood, anything to break the spell. But he could see that it was too late. Caracalla had gone mad. Perhaps Geta had gone mad as well. The whole world was mad, so why not them too?

The Fates, Nona, Decima, and Morta, were watching them from the shadow, scissors poised over the twin threads of their lives. Which one would they cut? Not mine. Not mine.

Gathering his strength, Geta wrenched the blade out of Caracalla's hand and pushed him off. Next thing Geta knew, Caracalla was cowering in their mother's arm, blood splattering his purple toga. Who had struck the fatal blow? Had it been one of the Praetorians, or had it been Geta himself? Geta didn't care. He bore down on his brother and raised the sword. Kill, or be killed. Be a soldier, not a weakling.

Snip. Morta's scissors snapped shut over the thread with a sharp sound that sent chills down his spine.

He felt it, the moment the thread was cut, the moment sword met flesh. Only it wasn't his brother's flesh. It was his own. He was lying in a crimson pool, and, standing over him, was Macrinus, his earring glinting in the torchlight.

"You'll never be emperor," said Macrinus, voice dripping with disdain just as the sword in his hand was dripping with blood.

Geta tried to get up, to tell Macrinus that he didn't want to be emperor anyway, but he couldn't open his mouth, couldn't move. A wave of fear washed over him, holding him down, pinning his limbs to the cold marble floor, drowning him.

Then, as he continued to struggle against the invisible bond around his body, a soft voice spoke in his ears, "Romulus? Come back to me."

He looked up and saw Daphne's green eyes. As if by magic, the fear of Macrinus, the anger at his father, the guilt over his brother, the sorrow for his mother, drained out of him, to be replaced by a wonderful peace. Macrinus, his brother and mother, the Praetorians, were all gone. Only Daphne remained, and that was all that mattered. She was all that mattered.

"I want to come back, carissima," he told her. "But you won't let me."

She shook her head, impatient. "You aren't trying hard enough."

"Tell me what to do then," he pleaded, grasping for her hands. "Tell me how to get back to you."

"The gates of Hell are open night and day," Daphne whispered. "Smooth is the descent, and easy is the way." Geta looked up at her in fear, but she was unchanged. Her eyes remained tender and her voice soft, as she leaned closer, lips brushing his. "But to come back and view the cheerful skies," she continued. "In this the task and the mighty labor lies."

Heedless of his mortal wounds, he strained toward her, desperate to catch her kiss, but already she was retreating, fading away, and he only felt cold air on his lips.

He woke with a start. He was still lying by the willow bush, stiff and sore from the hard ground. It must be nearly dawn—or so he guessed, from the light gray of the sky and the cold dew that had settled on his hair and his cloak while he slept. The dream was still vivid in his mind, and as he sat up to rub some life into his limbs, he could almost feel the sword going into his flesh again. A remnant of the fear was still there as well, and that fear also brought shame. Why should he be so afraid of Macrinus? He should be furious, he should be ready to run that traitor through with his sword...

But he couldn't. He no longer had it in him. The thirst for revenge, the anger, the desire for power, they were gone, evaporated in the light of the rising sun like the ghosts of his dreams. Only one thing endured—his love for Daphne.

The poem from his dream came back to him then.

The gates of Hell are open night and day, Smooth is the descent, and easy is the way. But to come back and view the cheerful skies, In this the task and mighty labor lies.

Virgil, the Aeneid. He had never paid much attention to the poetry lessons in his youth, but those lines he remembered. He'd once heard them from the mouth of a slave, spoken in defiance and veiled threat, but now, when he imagined them in Daphne's sweet voice, they became sobering, rallying words.

Well, he had been to Hell. And now he would come back. He was not going to Hemesos to chase after some wild hope that he might regain the throne. He would come back to Daphne, as she had bidden him in the dream. She was his cheerful skies. No matter how hard the task, no matter how mighty the labor, he would come back to her.

With that new resolve in mind, he got to his feet, feeling much more hopeful than he had when he'd gone to sleep the night before. He could even ignore the gnawing hunger in his belly, and his feet were steady as he made his way back to the village.

The sun was high above the hills and spreading its warmth on the path by the time the first cottage came into view. Geta hesitated a little. He'd decided that going straight back to Daphne would be a mistake, when his betrayal was still so raw in her mind. Instead, he could appeal to her mother. The old woman liked him. He could tell her that he and Daphne had had a quarrel, and perhaps she would convince Daphne to give him another chance. Yet now he just realized he didn't know where Daphne's family lived. He could ask around, but how to do it without drawing attention to himself?

An acrid smell of smoke and the sound of metal striking metal brought him to the smithy. A group of men sat around the hut, drinking and drawling around bowls of almonds and olives, while the red-faced smith wielded his hammer over a lump of red-hot metal behind them. Geta recognized a few of them as Daphne's patients.

Trying to hold himself more humbly, not so difficult now after everything he'd been through, he approached the men. "Excuse me," he said. "Can any of you tell me where Attikos, son of Timon, lives?"

They turned to him. One of them, with the leathery skin of a shepherd who spent all his youth under the merciless desert sun and a long, white beard that gave him an air of wisdom, stood up. "I am Kavos, the village chief," the old man said. So this was Master Kavos. "What business do you have with Attikos?"

Geta was prepared. "My name is Romulus," he replied. "We know each other from the army. Attikos told me to look him up if I ever find myself in these parts. My travels brought me here, so I thought I'd pay him a visit."

That seemed good enough for Kavos, who pointed down the path. "Follow this lane to the north end of the village, and you'll find Timon's house on your right. It's one of the last huts on the lane, with an almond tree out front. You can't miss it."

Geta nodded his thanks and was about to go on his way, when the smith, dropping the blade he'd been shaping into the nearby bucket of water amidst a cloud of steam, spoke up. "You won't find anyone at home, lad."

"How so?" Geta asked.

"I ran into Attikos' brother, Mikkos, early this morning," said the smith. "They've all gone out looking for Timon. Seems the old fool hasn't been home for days."

"Timon's never home," one of the men chimed in. "He's probably lying in a ditch somewhere, drunk as a piper."

"Well, that's all the more reason to find him, isn't it?" said Kavos.

"I don't see why they bother," the other man continued. "They would all be better off if he's dead."

This appeared to be too cruel a jab for the other men, who all made gestures to ward off evil. "Musa!" chided Kavos. "That is unkind." He turned back to Geta and cleared his throat, clearly embarrassed at such a display in front of a stranger. "In that case, perhaps it's best if you join us and wait for them here. They're bound to come this way sooner or later."

Geta hesitated. On the one hand, he was impatient to get back to Daphne, and if he sat here with these graybeards, he might let slip something that raised their suspicion. On the other, it would be even more suspicious if he just left. Besides, the wine looked inviting, and he was terribly thirsty.

"With pleasure," he said, sitting down. Kavos poured him a beaker of wine, which he gratefully downed in one gulp. "Thank you," he remembered to add.

"And where are you headed?" Kavos asked, fixing Geta with his sharp gaze.

He was prepared for that as well. "Home, in Syria."

One of the men laughed. "A Syrian lad named Romulus? Your parents have a sense of humor, don't they?"

Geta grinned. "My father was Roman," he said, by way of explanation. It was a lie, but the less he gave away about himself, the better.

The men didn't let him off that easily. "So you served with Attikos in Baras, then?" one of them asked. "Saw any action there?"

Geta wracked his brain, trying to recall if his army had ever been to Baras. It was a city in Sophene, and, as most cities in the area, a point of contention between Rome and its neighbors, Armenia in this case, but he couldn't remember it being of much consequence. He shrugged and was about to answer when his attention was caught by a figure staggering up the lane. As the figure drew near, Geta recognized those heavy features, those shifty eyes, and that red, bulbous nose. Timon. The man was dragging his feet toward the smithy, swaying slightly, a hand gripping his side as if he had a stitch there.

Following Geta's eyes, the elders saw the drunk man as well. "There you are, Timon," Kavos said. "Your family has been looking for you—" The old man paused, and a look of concern came over his face.

Geta realized something was wrong. At close quarters, Timon didn't look drunk. Instead of the flush of alcohol, his face was as white as chalk. Something dark was welling up under the hand clutching at his side and dripping down the front of his tunic, onto the dust of the lane. Blood.

Geta jumped to his feet. "He's injured!" he shouted. At that moment, Timon collapsed to the dirt.

There was a great commotion as the men ran out and crowded around Timon. Someone took away his hand, and they all gasped to see his palm covered in blood. Timon lay on his back with his mouth open and his tongue lolling out, looking as though he was already dead. There were flecks of blood around his lips. Geta had seen such sights so many times on the battlefield, there was no mistaking it. Daphne's father had been dealt a fatal wound.

"Somebody, fetch help!" Kavos said. "Get Daphne!"

Hearing Daphne's name, Timon roused himself. "No!" he croaked, clinging to the front of Kavos's robe. "Don't bring her here—he's after her—"

"He's delirious," someone said.

Kavos knelt by the dying man. "What happened, Timon? Who did this to you?"

"Bastard—pierced ear—" Timon choked out. Then his eyes settled on Geta, who was hanging on the edge of the group, and widened in shock. "You!" Timon hissed. "He's after you too!"

The men whirled around to stare at Geta curiously, but he was no longer afraid of their attention. Timon's words had driven a much bigger fear through him, turning his bowels into ice.

"What do you mean?" he said, yanking Timon up by his tunic. "Who is after me?" Timon grimaced as his wound bled anew, only Geta was past caring. "Tell me!"

"I—gambling—the merchant caravan—" Timon said, gasping as though each word pained him. "He saw—Roman coins—asked where I got them—told him about you—stuck me with his knife—he's on his way there now—to Daphne's—"

Geta didn't stop to hear the rest. The fabric of Timon's robe, already soaked with blood, slipped from his hands, and Timon fell to the ground. Geta turned on his heel, but Kavos seized his arm. "Wait now, lad! What's this about?" he asked.

"I have to warn Daphne," Geta said, shaking off the old man's grip.

Kavos's bushy eyebrows went up. "How do you know her?"

Geta looked around the men, torn between wanting to avoid suspicion and the urge to get to Daphne. "Ask Attikos," eventually he said. "He'll explain everything. If I'm not back in half an hour, send someone to Daphne's."

Leaving others to tend to the dying man, he ran toward the hills in the distance, praying to Mercury to lend swiftness to his tired legs, praying to Minerva and Diana and Juno to protect Daphne, praying to all the gods that he was not too late.

This, along with the prologue, was the chapter I had to rewrite most extensively to tie it to the movie - namely, I added a brief mention of Acacius and Lucilla, rewrote the confrontation between Caracalla and Geta to be closer to the movie (though I still had their mother present and no Macrinus), and added the lines of the Aeneid recited by Lucius. In my headcanon, after killing Caracalla, Geta just had Lucilla and Lucius quietly executed to avoid further outcry, so I can safely ignore the rest of the movie :P

ohhhfuck hojtel au paper makes me so uber duper sad. i think this was in part of colbys recent hojtel piece but i was thinkin about how hes known oj for. well. basically what *is* his entire Life and he watches as he becomes Like That because of a slip-up.

its like hes not even looking at he same person anymore. its like hes staring at a stranger, another object who happens to be the same kind as oj is. oj wouldn't do this - denial denial Denial.

FOR REAL DUDE, i imagine it's like Paper is trying desperately to just get some glimpse of OJ (or how he was before the incident) in any way possible just to be met with silence in unsettling halls, a benevolent entity that is now the hotel that thinks This Is For The Best that everyone stay there ii 16 + 17 spoilers? past here/ ironically the events of the final is fueling my ideas for this too, like this AU very loose ofc but imagining OJ becoming linked to the building like this makes him understand that they're generated by Mephone4, that there's "no other world for them" or something, and generally being in this state twists his logic about it severely

What is your favorite portrait of Felipe V and why?

What is Felipe V known for?

ah thank you for asking about him !! he is my hyperfixation forever and ever <3 always happy to talk about any historical figure anyway

i will make a long-ass post i must confess that i dont know when to shut the fuck up:

FIRST OF ALL i really like the hyacinthe rigaud portraits. specially the last one, which i know one of the copies is at Versailles along with a portrait of his brother le petit Dauphin and his father le grand Dauphin and I believe there is one of Charles, duc de Berry too? which is also his brother. Anyway I am insane about all of them so of course its my favourite. BUT my favourite version of that portrait is this one:

he has a heart ! on his wig. over his forehead. there. i think its funny. This portrait has a lot of version which are too similar to eachother but this one is the only one with that weird thing on his wig. Also this one isnt actually for the public display that is why its on a very low quality its being sold. which is a Shame. Its from his second reign as that was the moment he started using the ponytail.

WHAT is felipe v known for is a eh interesting question as i think everybody knows the upside down portrait of him in Xátiva, near Valencia, which is the autonomous comunity which hates the most Philip V as far as I know ? SO he got a lot of hate during the war of spanish succession (1701-1714, starting approximately when he was 17, as he gets to Spain at 16 - it finished around the end of 1714, the year he marries his second wife, Elisabeth Farnese - also a very interesting character which i know a lot of people love a lot) . So eh the important stuff is that spaniards hated bourbons because Spain hates frenchmen ? for some reason ? but im british so im supposed to hate them too. So anyway after the war of succession which is ! ofc after charles ii death which i know you like a lot :3 i also really love him iiii I will keep talking about philip v as to not change subject. So. eh he was also the grandson of Louis XIV which I know spaniards hated because he was in war with the Habsburgs - its a conflict since Louis XIII s times - and they were very culturally different. In fact Philippe suffered a lot when he came to the spanish court a la Marie Antoinette because it was too different. But its like the contrary of Marie Antoinette, because he was suffering because spanish was boring and he didnt even knew spanish. He also felt pity against the gente de placer because they had different morals in the french court (ofc the activity its bad in itself but i will not state the obvious, yet in the court of louis xiv there are many examples of mentally ill or desfigured people which were supported by the state. ofc the majority of them were part of the royal family but anyway philippe knew he shouldnt make fun of these people - he was rather disturbed by the group). So anyway the habsburg faction was against him but he was rather welcomed to Spain, he himself didnt felt spanish enough to be king - and even had to be reassured of keep being king since very young, years before abdicating.

Clearing that out, because the story about Philippe going to Spain, or his childhood, or his first marriage; are all stuff I would talk on and on about, eh, I will proceed to talk about other stuff he is known for. During his first reign his first prime minister, which was a frenchman that Louis XIV send to fix Spain, did fix Spain; ofc not as good as Charles III would later do it, but did the first steps towards it. He also send to made very important buildings of Spain like el Palacio de la Granja, where he is actually buried along with his second wife Farnese. He is also known for being the first Bourbon king in Spain, may say the first bourbons were Isabel de Francia (first wife of Philip IV - sister of Louis XIII) and Maria Luisa de Orléans (first wife of Charles II - daughter of Philippe d Orleáns, brother of Louis XIV - you probably know the tale about Don Juan José negotiating the marriage ! its a funny story). There is also very peculiar characters during his reign like Don Blas de Lezo or the Cardinal Alberoni (which Philip himself made sure to make cardinal by spamming letters to the pope about making him a cardinal - Philip was very fond of him, and even made him his prime minister and Archobisp of Malagá), there is also Louis-Joseph of Vendôme (Luis José de Borbón, as he is known in Spain), which Philip also gave him his life and made him virrey de Cataluña, heir of the throne in case he did without childs, and marshal of Spain. He has a thing for giving the people he loves everything they ask for and more. Louis-Joseph is one of the most important military figures of the war of succession along with the duke of Berwick and the count of Tessé (marshal of France since Vendôme was exhiled from there. also a funny story. Vendôme was a real weird guy and I dont get to understand why Philippe liked him so much).

I finish the last section of this post. Which is getting big asf. The frog thing. Its very weird for me to see many people which make jokes about that ? I guess people think its funny ? but its not the only think he had issues with ? must say he was melancholic aka disordered since all his life. He was not know for being a normal kid, he was very quiet and shy. I know for a fact that he was bulimic, but he also presented a mood disorder, which has been mainly theorized to be Bipolar II, which I am actually okay with that version as he presented many of these traits - more tentative to depression, known as a hypomaniac state, and more tentative to psychosis. Even with that, psychology is very stained with a mysoginistic and racist history, and the diagnosis of male historical figures with bipolarity is one of them. First because they dont actually diagnose him with Bipolar II thats my own suggestion because spanish historians do their job terribly and dont even try to take it seriously enough to stand what kind of bipolarity are they talking about - they just threw off bipolarity because the mainstream idea of bipolarity is someone who tends to be happy for some moments and then deeply depressed. SO after throwing off my own agenda I will state the facts. He was deeply depressed and then went on a manic state from the sound of music. He employed an italian castrato - the most famous one ! - Farinelli to sing and play music for him, as he rested on the bed, and made him repeat the songs over and over again. He would have loved spotify. And after a lot of repetitions he even sang the songs himself, as these made him very happy. He also made Farinelly his prime minister (this guy seriously had problems with giving everything to the people he loved). He also had a very fucked up sleep schedule, making his ministers met him at the bed of his wife at 2 AM, as he never left these chambers. He had a big fear of dying, normal between Bourbons, and a big religious trauma since his childhood - he had a very severe tutor, which is actually a remarkable figure in the reign of Louis XIV; and even the spaniards were weirded out by how much he used to confess himself with Alberoni. He also had paranoid delusions, which are known to be bizarre, such as the time he thought his clothes were shining weird, and that they had poison, and because of that he started to use his wife s clothes (this is, well, a thing that happened for some reason. He ordered to only let nuns make his clothes for this). He was also hypersexual, and there is not a funny part about it, but I always joke about the fact that he was the first guy to drag a dildo to Spain (fun fact). So thats all. Ah he also thought for some time that his body parts would fall off and that he was a frog. Which the first is Cotard delusion and the other is just a bizzare delusion, as many psychotic delusions are. He liked to watch the gardens a lot, and used to be fascinated by the frogs jumping around it. This was a very small moment of his later years, when he barely left the bed, as he was very depressed. Thats the answer to the question. Now you know a lot about Philip V mental state which may or may not be funny. I think the frog thing was made popular by tiktok? but that was a very small part of his mental disorders. I love him a lot hehe. I personally think he had BPD as he was very fond of the people he loved and had many trust issues, and BPD also can make people more tentative to psychotic disorders and bipolarity. Spaniards tend to lie about the bourbons or exaggerate stuff because the historical records are tainted by habsburg faction, so the majority of my information comes from french people of the time. Feel free to ask questions or dont READ THIS AT ALL this is A BIGASS POST. I can also recommend free pdfs to read about his time blablabla I specially like Liselotte (Elizabeth of the Palatinade) letters and the memoirs of Saint-Simon, even if he talks a bit too badly about Louis-Joseph or le grand Dauphin.

i can’t possibly choose between my two favs so it’s gonna be peter parker and tony stark.

Ask Game about your fictional fave/s!

1. How did you discover your faves?

I discovered Tony while watching Civil War but didn’t really had my coup de foudre yet.

It happened when my parents made me watch Far From Home. It actually was the way Peter mourned Tony that made me watch the Iron Man movies.

And then obviously I became obsessed with both of them.

2. How long have you been a fan of your faves?

3 years. Ive been obsessively a fan for 3 years.

3. Do you write for your faves? (E.g. AU's, Drabbles, Fan Fics.)

Yesh, they are the ones I wrote the most about actually!

4. Do you like what is canon about your faves?

I wouldn’t even know how to properly answer that, so i’ll go with a simple no.

5. Tell some of your headcanons of your faves.

Fix iittt- Tony comes back from the death after Endgame, NWH never happens, they both live happily ever after. Boom, my endgame.

I actually like the words they canonly live in, without the fact one is dead and one is forgotten from the whole universe.

6. Do you draw for your faves? (E.g. Fan Art)

Yes, a lot. I wish I could do small comics about them.

7. If your faves are portrayed by several actors, who are your fave portrayers?

Well, Tony will only and forever be Robert Downey Junior. No one else can be Iron Man.

My Peter is Tom Holland. Because Im in love with him.

8. Are you more into Books/Comics/Films when it comes to your faves?

If we take fanfictions out of the picture, Im more into the movies.

Peter would definitely like me, yeah. Idk, it’s just a feeling. I think we’d great friends.

For Tony, Idk, Id love to think he would but I would maybe be too in love with everything he does, that would probably annoy him at some point.

Im definitely Peter. We’re really alike.

Yess ofc. Im in awe with Tony’s. That man is just a freaking genius.

Them together. It’ll forever be my safe place.

Definitely, me and my students have the same Spiderman and Iron Man clothes, bags, shoes at school.

20. If your faves have a fandom, what do you think about the fandom?

I love the MCU fandom, I love the universe, I love the movies and its been my safe place for three years now.

Natasha and Bucky are my babies.

“I just wanted to be like you.”

Because I have a lack of self confidence and of will of living and I just idolize everyone bc I wish I could be like them.

22. If you would feed your faves something, what would it be?

I’d feed them love and cuddles because they definitely need some.

23. How do you see yourself in any of your faves?

I see myself a lot in Peter. Idk- just his way to talk, to move, to think. He’s just… so me. The Peter most people write in Starker fics also makes me think a lot of myself.

Tony makes me think of myself by his irony, self degradation skills, alcoholism, panic attacks, little depressing stuff that makes me identify to him.

24. Ever taken a break from your faves?

Nop, not since I started worshipping them, Im the worst. They still make me feel at home.

25. If your faves were to have a crossover, who and which character would they have a crossover with?

Mmmh, I see them well with Derek and Stiles for some unknown reasons ?

Or in the HP world bc Hogwarts AUs never get old.

Epilogue - Part I (Dylan POV)

The air was crisp and cool in New York, the summer heat long-past, once green leaves glimmering burnt oranges and golds in the afternoon sun. The streets were bustling with people tucked into their fall jackets with their hands warming on their coffee cups. Dylan had just stepped out of the cafe and began moving through the crowded sidewalk, headphones on over his hat with Tony trotting along at his heel. He quietly stepped around people until he was able to turn down a quieter side street. He drew in a full lung of fresh air and smiled to himself as the two of them continued on their walk. Dylan sipped at his coffee, looking down at Tony. 

“Such a good boy,” he said, smiling when Tony looked up at him. He tucked his hand into the pocket of his hoodie and pulled out the small biscuit the barista had given him when he paid for his drink. He stopped while Tony kept walking until his leash tugged at his collar and he turned back to Dylan. 

“Can ya sit, Bud?” Dylan cooed, grinning when Tony did as he asked. “Good boy!” he chuckled, giving him the treat and rubbing his head. 

As the two of them continued down the street, Dylan let himself sink into a relaxing pace. No need to rush. Tony was usually in a hurry, but he’d slow down if Dylan did. Cars passed by, but Dylan heard only the music playing in his noise-canceling headphones. He was listening to Remi Wolf, as he basically had been doing on repeat for most of the last year. To call him a touch obsessed would not be an understatement. He’d dug into passions in this last year, taking a break from the fevered pitch of the previous. Family and friends, reconnecting and unplugging. It was the humanity recharge he’d been hungry for and he finally felt sated. 

Work never really stopped entirely, there was promoting, interviews, premieres, occasional auditions, and discussions, but taking some time away from active sets had been incredibly good for his mental health. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d woken up with a tension headache, or spent twenty-two of twenty-four hours awake. His life had a tendency to become both tediously formulaic and exhaustingly demanding at the same time, and when he got into those habits—into the mindset that he had to be working and that without a script in his hand, he was worthless—he knew it was time to take a step back. Take some time to just live.

Fred Weasley II Hcs

1) Despite his namesake, he’s not really much of a prankster. He enjoys a good one, sure, but he prefers quieter hobbies. Still he can get really into the creative side of pranks. 2) Um did someone say peacemaker Fred Weasley?? No? Well I’m saying now - peacemaker Fred Weasley. 3) Listen the Weasleys are like 14/14 for war trauma in parents you CANNOT tell me they were good parents or always a stable family. 4) So Fred learns to be a peacemaker between adults who can’t apologize (his dad and Uncle Percy, for example), and fiesty cousins, early on. 5) He’s also a people pleaser and hates disappointing people. Like he can and will cry if he thinks he’s going to disappoint his parents. 6) He feels a lot of pressure to take on the family’s conflicts and try and sort them out. 7) Like if he had an Encanto quote it would be “I’m pretty sure I’m worthless if I can’t be of service” from Surface Pressure. 8) Self! Worth! Issues! He has a lot of trouble seeing his own worth beyond just what he can do for others and Roxanne and Rose have to kick his ass about it a lot. 9) He was born in 2003, the same year as Madeleine Molly (Molly II according to canon but I changed her name), so despite them being in different houses they usually hang out in cousin gatherings. 10) They don’t hang out much in school though because different friend groups. 11) Gryffindor, though the Hat seriously debated putting him in Hufflepuff like Maddie. 12) Never really felt brave or extraordinary enough to be a Gryffindor. 13) Because their dads worked at the shop together, Fred grew up really close to Rose and Hugo, and considers them siblings, and they back to him. 14) He’s especially close to Rose, as they were the two older ones. She’s his younger sister and they’re very close. It helps that she’s very smart and into ancient magic especially, so whenever he wants to have a rant about that stuff with her she’s up for it. 15) He loves braiding hair - his mom taught him so he does his own, Rose, and Roxanne’s. Hugo’s is too short. 16) Hugo looks up to him and he knows it. He jokes about it but there’s a part of him that’s scared he’ll let him down. 17) Did someone say Fred Weasley with oldest child syndrome? No? Well Fred Weasley with oldest child syndrome. 18) He’s very close to his mother and asks her for advice a lot, even if he wishes she would stop kissing his cheeks before she sends him on the Hogwarts Express because he’s a teenager now. 19) His relationship with his dad is a bit more awkward, especially since, as the older one, he was a lot more exposed to his parent’s especially his dad’s unhealed trauma than Roxanne was. 20) He still loves him ofc it’s just awkward and a bit disconnected. 21) He’s found Hugo crying because everyone else in their family was screaming and he couldn’t handle it before. When that happens he usually just lets him and Roxanne hang out for a bit until Rose shows up and apologizes to him. 22) He’s one of the few people who could tell that Victorie’s mental health was slipping in her last year at Hogwarts. 23) Despite that he doesn’t like Dominique, he’s generally civil with her until she insults someone and goes too far. 24) Beater for the Gryffindor team and uses it as an outlet whenever he’s overwhelmed. 25) He actually enjoys most schoolwork, but he’s not really sure where his true interests lie. Yeah, he likes reading and experimenting with spellwork, but unlike Victorie and Rose who seem to know their niches from early on he’s just not sure. It makes him feel unsure of the future. 26) Despite this when he does like things - like he genuinely enjoys Quidditch and Transfiguration - he’s really really competitive. Like very. He’s not a bad sport but REALLY he will stay up three nights in a row to beat someone in a Transfiguration test. 27) He sort of puts on a mask a lot, especially around his parents, so he can keep everyone happy and acting smoothly - whenever it slips up he tends tp lash out defensively and then feel super bad afterwards. 28) As a result (and also bc he’s a Teenage BoyTM), he really really hates emotional conversations. 29) He has a lot of friends in multiple houses, even Slytherin, and was one of the only cousins who didn’t really care when Albus was sorted into Slytherin. 30) His wand is Willow wood, 11 in, dragon heartstring core, very flexible.

3. Where do you live? A little town in Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony), Germany. Known for being the summer residence of a royal bloodline some 200 years ago. Yes there's a castle :P

4. Three things I am doing right now? Trying to forget the nightmare I just woke up from, thinking about getting a few more clementines from the kitchen and fininishing a little sketch I started yesterday

5. Four fandoms that have piqued my interest: Metalocalypse (ofc), Hogan's Heroes, Ghost BC, What We Do In The Shadows. Those are the main 4 at the moment but there's always a chance for other fandoms to take over for a bit.

6. How has the pandemic been treating you? ....yeah. Not so great. My grandma died suddenly at the start of the pandemic, I had to leave my internship I was super happy at early because of lockdown, finished my last semester at college with horrible online classes, had to move back in with my parents, cut contact with someone I've known almost all my life, barely passed my finals, still on the hunt for a job (started applying to places in September) and am close to losing it any day now lol Also pandemic means no flea markets which was one of the few things keeping my brain happy and occupied while giving me a chance to ride my bike around the region for hours :^(((((

7. Song(s) I can’t stop listening to: Sadly no particular song coming to mind right now, but I've had Ghost's entire discography and Dethalbum I, II, and III on rotation for months now lol. This Toss A Coin To Your Witcher Remix has also been stuck in my head for a while and is always worth a listen (Also have some silly techno/hardstyle remixes stuck in my brain permanently because I listened to them as background noise while trying to make my final college projects somewhat decent. 8. Recommend a movie: The Road to El Dorado by Dreamworks, a children's movie, I know... Each song is an absolute banger tho (even the German versions!), the jokes are silly but fun, the queer/gay hints add that little spice that I subconsciously picked up on and felt comforted by as a kid and the design of the everything is just (chef's kiss) Also the chemistry between the 4 main characters is gud as heck. It's the childhood movie I latched on to the most, my mother had to rent the dvd almost every single day until I bought a copy myself lol

9. How old are you? 24 orz I don't feel like it at all...

10. School, university, occupation? Finished college in August, unemployed because no one wants to hire in the creative field during a worldwide plague :^)

11. Do you prefer heat or cold? As long as it's under 35°C I prefer heat. My hands and feet are icicles 95% of the time after losing weight :^(

12. Name one fact others may not know about you? Since I'm an expert oversharer you probably know almost everything about me already orz But uhhh. Lemme see... I learned how to operate a laundry machine at the ripe old age of 20 at my internship at a hair salon lmao My mother never had the nerve to show me how on the modern machine we have at home (along the lines of "you will fuck it up anyways so let me do it >:^(((" which is an overarching theme in her raising me lol), but the older machine with the simpler dials at the salon was a good start to learn and honestly one of the things at this internship I'm still super grateful for...

13. Are you shy? Oh hell yeah I am... It's all the years of getting only negative feedback for trying to interact with others lol

14. Preferred pronouns: He/Him mostly, still figuring out if I still like they/them or nah (since in German there are no neutral pronouns that aren't neopronouns I've automatically gotten more attached to he/him lol)

15. Biggest pet peeves: I feel so mean for admitting it but honestly: Any noises my parents make. If I'm having a particularly bad low brain energy day even hearing them breathe makes me wanna run away and scream in anger... (Doesn't irk me with anyone else tho, which is weird...)

16. What is your favorite "dere" type? Oh there's more than 4 types now?? I've always liked Kuudere types the most out of the original 4 types, but I guess Shundere and Utsudere are right up my alley too!!!

20. Is there anything people should know before becoming friends with you? I'm a clusterfuck of several undiagnosed mental illnesses and probably other conditions that I'm trying to figure out and deal with on my own until I can get professional help and some diagnoses. At times I'm weird and distant and overall very depressed and unpleasant, I've already hurt so many people this way and am trying to be better every single day. Basically I've never been given the "How to properly Human" manual and am frantically trying to get it right without hurting too many innocent people in the process.
