yooooo another mara Q <3: when did she first get heart eyes for natty? as in, was there a moment when her brain went 'i want that one'
Hi silly! <3 Thank you for the ask :)
This one is a funny story because a lot of it isn’t in even game, it’s all crafted my my design. See, Amara predates HL by a long shot. She was her own isolated HP oc, and currently she’s also a tertiary antagonist in my own novel. In none of these does she have a canon relationship. Rather she’s a bit of a womanizer.
So, on my second official Amara playthrough (the one I post for content) I was like hm. I should give Mara a gf. I didn’t have anyone in mind I just went through the first act of the game carefree until I realized I really liked the dynamic she and Natty could have. There’s totally opposites but have a lot of shared values, even if they both have wildly different ways of achieving them.
In a way, this is also how Mara fell in love. Happenstance. They’re from rival houses but have no animosity towards one another, just two girls who slowly bonded since Nat showed up. Amara was sort of indifferent about love, she had no interest and found grandiose acts of a display rather.. cringe. In a way, she still does. But when alone with her girlfriend she’s quite the sap. And the SIMP. Because if Natty wants to do something even if Mara hates it, she will fold and be like “yeah.. okay fine” because she loves Natsai so much.
The “I want her moment” definitely was at the very end of their fourth year, when they were school friends at that point and would duel casually. Something about being against Nat in a one-on-one duel was the most thrilling and romantic thing for Amara that it didn’t even matter that she cleaned house (because it’s Mara and she won ofc) because she was like “how is she so pretty” like the lesbian she is

In Case You Don’t Live Forever
~chapter five rewritten~
Pairing: Peter Parker x Venom!reader
Synopsis: you are Peters greatest love and Spider-Man’s greatest enemy
Series Masterlist
Tumblr media
“Why are you in such a mood?” Ned asked his best friend as they walked to their college campus. Peter had been grumpy all morning and Ned was quick to notice. He usually showed up at Ned’s door exhausted but eager to share the adventures from the night before, but he seemed defeated today.
“I got my ass beat last night.” Peter grumbled as he shouldered his backpack.
“By who?” Ned wondered.
“I don’t even know.” Peter sighed. “I think it was some kind of alien.”
“What’d it look like?” Ned asked. It wasn’t uncommon for Ned to ask a million questions after being told something Spider-Man related. After all, he was the guy in the chair.
“Like nothing I’ve ever seen before.” Peter said swallowed and tried to push the previous night from his mind. He’d rather focus on this morning, and the moment he had shared with you. Peter felt such a strong connection to you, and he would’ve stayed on that rooftop all day if he could.
“Describe it to me.” Ned pleaded, tearing Peter from his thoughts.
“I don’t know. It was like eight feet tall, black, and bald. And it was super veiny.” Peter grimaced while Ned’s eyes widened.
“Oh my God. You fought Shaquille O’Neal?” Ned gasped.
“Keep your voice down. I did not fight Shaquille O’Neal.” Peter whispered harshly. Ned always seemed one step away from blowing Peters cover. Peter gave bashful smiles to the passing students who gave him weird looks upon hearing Ned’s words.
“Terry Crews?” Ned continued. Peter rolled his eyes at his best friend and starting walking to class.
“No. This is serious.” Peter said, his voice heavy with annoyance.
“I know it’s serious. You got beat up by The Rock.” Ned remarked. Peter fidgeted with the strings on his backpack, still bothered knowing he was beaten so easily by Venom.
“The Rock is Samoan, not black.” Peter corrected.
“I know. But I heard “bald” and I just automatically envisioned The Rock.” Ned defended.
“There’s another thing. It had this huge, gaping mouth with rows and rows of teeth. I keep thinking about it.” Peter shivered. “It came so close to me. And its tongue was super long. It was like a cracked out frog.”
“So a ninja turtle? You got beat up by a ninja turtle?” Ned gawked.
“It wasn’t a ninja turtle.” Peter snapped. “ It was black, remember?”
“So an emo ninja turtle.” Ned deadpanned.
“It kept saying “we”. “ Peter remembered.
“What do you mean?”
“There was only one of them, but they only referred to themself as “we” as if there were multiple of them.” Peter explained.
“Do you think there could be more? Like an alien army or something?” Ned asked incredulously. Peter hadn’t even thought about that.
“Maybe. I remember something else, it’s name was Venom.” Peter recalled. He distinctly remembered those words coming out of the creatures mouth.
“Venom?” Ned repeated, clearly finding it cool.
“Yeah. And I told it my name. I used my regular voice too.” Peter realized. He usually disguised his voice when speaking, but he had been so scared that he forgot to. It haunted him knowing the creature now knew who he was and he wondered if it knew both of his identities.
“Wow. This is so cool. Not cool for you, because you might die. But this is super cool for me.” Ned smiled as he envisioned what Venom might look like.
“Thanks, ned. Actually, wait.” Peter stopped in his tracks. “One more thing happened.”
“What?” Ned whispered as they approached their class.
“Venom was about to eat me but then it started talking to itself. It sounded maybe like it was having a conversation with someone? I’m not sure, I could only hear one side of it.” Peter explained. “It put me down, well it threw me down, and let me go. But before it left, it said something about a girl. I don’t really remember. I was too focused on catching my breath.”
“Catching your breath? Were you running?”
“No. It choked me.” Peter told him as he lightly touched his neck.
“Kinky.” Ned smirked as he took a seat next to Peter in their class.
“That’s gross.” Peter stifled a laugh. “Did I tell you about this morning with Y/N?”
“No. Tell me.” Ned said. He wasn’t disappointed in the change of topic. He was glad Peter had moved on on from Liz, finally. Peter recounted the discussion he had with you that morning, barely getting through it without blushing and laughing at certain parts.
“I really like her, Ned. More than I’ve ever liked anyone. She’s so amazing. I barely know her, but I can tell already. I want to know everything about her. I want to hear her full story. And most of all, I want to be a part of that story.” Peter declared but frowned suddenly.
“What’s wrong?” Ned asked.
“After our talk, we just kinda sat there staring at each other for a while.” Peter began. “She kinda leaned in, and I did too, but then this seagull flew by and scared us half to death. We laughed about it but the moment was gone.”
“So you almost kissed her?” Ned smiled. “Why is that upsetting you?”
“Because what if that was our chance and I blew it?” Peter feared. “What if that seagull was a sign from above that I was in way over my head? Like God was asking me who I was to think I could just kiss the most perfect girl in the world? She’s so cool, Ned. Way too cool for me. She’s already had a boyfriend and I’ve never even kissed anyone.”
“If it’s meant to happen, it will happen.” Ned assured him.
“Or, the same thing that happened with Liz will happen.” Peter argued. “I won’t tell her how I feel and then she’ll be gone forever.”
“Then don’t let that happen.” Ned reasoned. “Tell Y/N how you feel. Do it tonight, before you go on patrol. And if she doesn’t feel the same, then at least you’ll know. Isn’t it better to know?”
“When did you become such a love expert?” Peter teased as the professor walked into the room.
“Since I started dating Betty. She’s opened my eyes to what love really is.” Ned shrugged. “Tell her tonight. Then tell me how it goes. I’m here for you either way.”
Peter nodded and gave Ned a thankful smile before turning his attention to the professor.
On his walk home from campus, Peter spotted you walking down the sideways. Ned’s words of encouragement rang in his ears and he made a brash decision.
“Hey, Y/N, wait up!” Peter called after you, making you turn around.
“Hey Parker. How was kindergarten?” You teased him.
“Alright alright. Majoring in chemical engineering is hardly kindergarten. And I’m only one year younger than you.” Peter reminded you. “I don’t want you to have a heart attack on me, grandma.”
“Watch it, sonny.” You kept with the joke. “I’ll hit you with my purse and then say something mildly racist.”
“Just like my grandma.” Peter laughed in amusement. “We’re gross. And not funny.”
“We really are.” You scrunched your nose. “Couple of gross ass orphans.”
Peter laughed again, feeling comfortable enough with you to joke about a tragic situation.
“Look, Y/N, I really enjoyed our talk this morning. I really enjoyed all our talks so far actually. I guess I just like talking to you. ” Peter began. He looked nervous all the sudden, like he lost his stamina. You raised your eyebrows hopefully, as there were only so many ways this conversation could go.
“I like talking to you too, Peter.” You said honestly, hoping he’d continue. Hoping he’d ask that question. Your answer seemed to give Peter the confidence he needed to go on.
“Really? Um, that’s great cause I really like talking to you too. I already said that. Oh god. I’m crashing. I-“ he began to flail and you calmed him down by taking a few steps closer. You were almost touching at that point. He stopped talking immediately and looked at you with wide eyes.
“Is there someone you wanted to ask me, Peter?” You asked slowly as you looked at him through your eyelashes.
Damn. He was tall too.
“Yes, actually. I, um, will you…would you maybe want to-“
“Hiya kids!” A gravely voice came from the front stairs of your apartment, completely cutting Peter off. Peter looked up and angrily rolled his eyes.
“Don’t look now. It’s Henry.” Peter grumbled. Henry was the creepy neighbor with the foot fetish.
“Oh Dear God.” Peter said in a low voice.
“What?” You panicked when you saw Peters expression change.
“You’re wearing flip flops.” He pointed at your black painted toes and you felt the color drain from your face.
“Run!” He whispered harshly. You bolted into your apartment and Peter ran into his. Once inside, Peter blew out an angry breath. He had been interrupted twice in one day when trying to talk to you, and he worried that it was a sign.
Back at the apartment, you sat on your bed with headphones in. You were prepping for your interview with Cletus Kasady by writing down some questions you wanted to ask him. It was hard figuring out what to ask a serial killer. You looked at your notepad and sighed. All you had written down was “but why tho?” in sloppy handwriting. You tore out the page, crumbled it up, and threw it at the trash can. When you went to write something else down, you noticed the paper ball still stuck to your hand. You shook your hand but it still wouldn’t come off.
“What the hell?” You grumbled as you shook your hand.
“Oh. This might be our fault.” Venom said suddenly.
“What might be your fault?” You asked as you continued to shake the paper off your hand, but to no avail.
“We sort of went inside Spider-Man when we were talking to him yesterday.” Venom said timidly and the paper ball dropped from your hand.
“What?” You demanded and Venom went silent.
“Come out here.” You said, like an owner to a dog.
“We’d rather stay inside.” Venom said softly.
“Get out here now. You need to explain yourself young lady.” You said sternly. Venom slowly manifested and looked at you with sad eyes.
“I’m 600 million years old, by the way.” Venom added. “You can’t call me young lady.”
“What do you mean you went inside Spider-Man?” You ignored her comment.
“When we were choking him we put one of our tendrils inside him and swirled around.” Venom explained. “He didn’t even feel it. We did though. He’s very squishy on the inside.”
“You…what?” You didn’t even know where to start. “How does that explain the paper sticking to me?”
“We think we absorbed his powers.” Venom said. “We used to watch videos of him on YouTube after you went to bed. He can stick to walls and stuff. We think that’s why the paper ball stuck to you.”
“Since when can we absorb powers?” You wondered as you looked at your hands.
“We never had a host before. We don’t really know how it works.” Venom reminded you. “But back on Klyntar, our home planet, the Grandmaster used to tell us we could absorb the powers of superhuman beings. Judging by your newfound stickiness, we think it worked.”
“What else can Spider-Man do?” You asked. “Since you’re such a big fan.”
“He can shoot webs out of his wrists. And he can return lost dogs.” Venom answered, sounding a little annoyed.
“Do you have something against Spider-Man?” You chuckled a little at her tone.
“We hate what he did last night. He thought we were the bad guy, and he let the real bad guy get away. He judged us before he had the full story. We’re not a bad guy.” Venom defended. You were surprised to hear how passionate she was about this and gave her a soft smile.
“Let’s not worry about Spider-Man right now. I want to test out our new abilities. Let’s rock and roll, baby.” You cheered, complete with rock and roll hands. The second you touched your middle finger and ring finger to your palm, a black, web-like tendril shot out from your wrist and stuck to the ceiling. You stared at the web with a gaping mouth, weakly shaking your wrist to see if it would stay attached.
It did.
“Maybe that’s one of our new abilities.” Venom said. You looked back and forth between her and the gooey web coming out of your wrist.
“Oh my God! What’s happening?” You screamed. You took your fingers off your palm and the web retracted back into your wrist. Looking at your wrist incredulously, you made the rock and roll hand again and the same web shot out from your wrist. This time, it grabbed the ceiling fan.
“V-Venom?” You asked. You didn’t know what to say.
“Try to aim it at something.” She suggested. You aimed your wrist and the lamp across the room and touched your fingers to your palm. The black web shot across the room and grabbed onto the lamp. You quickly yanked your arm back to pull the lamp towards yourself. The lamp flew across the room, smashed you in the face, and left you with a bloody nose.
“Ow.” You cried, gingerly touching your nose.
“We see this as a absolutely win.” Venom cheered. You shot her a look and went to get cleaned up.
After about a week of practice, and very little work on your questions for Cletus, you had a better handle on your webbing ability. Of course, the week also consisted of long talks with Peter on the roof, late patrols of New York, the occasional run in with a criminal, late night FaceTime calls with Peter, and beating the shit out of Spider-Man, twice. Venom eventually grew bored of using the new powers around the house, so it was time for the final test.
You stood at the rooftop ledge and looked down, talking a deep breath to calm your nerves.
“It’s a long way down.” You commented.
“Yep.” Venom replied in your head.
“We could die.” You added.
“Yep.”
“Ready?”
“We’re ready.” Venom grinned as you transformed. You stepped off the ledge and fell freely for a while, screaming the whole way down.
“Stop being a little bitch! Shoot a web!” Venom yelled. You aimed a web at a building and began to swing. You were too close to the ground and ended up knocking over a bunch of tables at an outdoor restaurant. People ran away in fear while others took out their cameras and recorded.
“We’re not here to hurt you! Peace and love!” Venom shouted as you continued to swing through the steers of New York. People began to cheer upon hearing your words.
“Do you hear that, Y/N? People are cheering. They love us.” Venom said happily.
“I love us too.” You replied. You were even happier than she was. You knew how much it hurt Venom to be seen as a monster, it was why she hated being called a parasite. You also knew it was why she hated Spider-Man. He was praised for stopping bad guys while Venom was seen as one of the bad guys he needed to stop.
“Hey, what is that thing?” A man called from the street. Venom stopped swinging and landed on the street. You proudly turned to the crowd of people, a massive grin on your face. There it was, our favorite question.
“We…are Venom.” Venom growled. People took pictures and videos of you from a distance.
“You can come closer. We won’t hurt you.” Venom assured the crowd.
“Are you like the anti Spider-Man?” Someone asked.
“Spider-Man is a joke. He can’t protect this city like we can. We are no Spider-Man. We are Venom.” Venom roared. A few people took a step back and you began to feel uneasy.
“Hey, King Kong. I want a word with you.” A sassy voice quipped from the crowd. A man in yellow sunglasses and a suit stepped forward, and you bet your ass you recognized him.
“My name is Tony Stark. Heard of me? Of course you have. Would you mind coming back to my tower with me?” He asked, but it felt more like a demand. The people in the crowd slowly dispersed and soon, you stood there alone with Tony.
“Be nice. Say yes.” You told Venom.
“Who is this guy?” She asked out loud.
“I just said my name.” Tony said, slightly annoyed.
“He’s a really famous inventor. I’ll explain later. Just follow him please.” You begged. Venom gave Tony a once over and followed him to a limo.
“Yea, you’re gonna ride up top big guy.” Tony said, patting the roof of the car.
“Girl.” Venom growled. Tony looked surprised.
“My apologies ma’am.” He raised surprised eyebrows. You rode on top of his car all the way to his tower, wondering what he could possibly want with you.
The inside of his tower was huge. Tony lead you to a lab that was bigger than yours and Peters apartments combined.
“I’ve seen videos of you on YouTube. Seems like you and Spider-Man aren’t the best of friends.” Tony remarked as he pulled out an iPad.
“We will crush his bones and snort them like cocaine.” Venom growled. Tony was just as surprised to hear that as you were.
“Now that’s a visual.” Tony smirked. “I’ll have you know, Spider-Man is a friend of mine. He’s not your biggest fan either but from what I’ve seen, you’ve done this city some good since you’ve been here. How long has that been?”
“Two weeks.” Venom answered.
“I thought so. I’d never seen you before then. And since your arrival, petty crime has dropped significantly in Queens. Criminals are too scared of getting eaten to do anything. Don’t get me wrong, I love Spider-Man and I’ll kill you if you tell him that, but no one fears him. He gets the job done, but there’s always another job to do. With you, on the other hand, your mere presence is preventing crime before it even happens.” Tony smiled to himself, like he was just given a new toy. “You’re scary, is what I’m trying to say. But you’re a good guy. It’s rare. I want it to stay that way. I want you on my team.”
“Team?”
“We’re called the Avengers. We had a bit of a falling out but the name still stands.” Tony waved his hand. “We fight bad guys together. Really, really bad guys. I think you could us some good. Plus, you’ll be taken care of for life and we’ll only call you in for serious threats. But I need a few things from you first.”
“Like what?”
“Your story.” He pointed a finger at you. “How does a giant, anthropomorphic alien wind up in New York City?”
“It’s a long story.” Venom answered.
“We can trust this man, Venom.” You told her telepathically. “I’m gonna come out okay?” Venom hesitated and Tony looked impatient to know more.
“Are you sure?” She asked you. Tony looked confused.
“Am I sure?” He pointed to himself.
“Not you.” She said. Tony looked around for who else Venom could be talking to and found no one.
“I’m sure.” You decided. “This guy is one of the good guys. We can trust him. I promise. I’m coming out.”
You slowly transformed back into yourself in front of Tonys wide eyes. Venom stayed in her snake-like form and rested on your neck.
“Hello, Mr. Stark. My name is Y/N L/N.” You shyly introduced yourself. “This is Venom. We want to help.”
Tony’s face shifted from shocked to impressed as he looked you over.
“I gotta say, I did not except someone like you to be inside that scary monster.” Tony chuckled.
“We’re not a monster, Mr. Stark. We want to help people.” You reminded him.
“I can see that.” Tony nodded. “That’s why I’ve been developing you a suit.”
“When did you do that?” You wondered. “We just met.”
“Oh, I know. I’ve been designing it while you talked. I want you to have it incase you and Venom get separated. That way, you’ll be protected until you’re back together.” Tony explained as he showed you his ipad. Sure enough, it had a drawing of a suit on it.
“I’ll get started right away. I just need a little piece of Venom. If I make the suit using her skin, you’ll have the total protection you need.” You looked at Venom for consent, who nodded and extended a tendril towards Tony. He quickly snipped a piece off and put it in a container.
“When will the suit be ready? A few months?” You asked as Tony tapped the container. Tony stopped looking at the container and laughed.
“Y/N, I’m a genius inventor. Go get lunch. It’ll be ready when you’re done.” He said.
And he wasn’t kidding. An hour and a half later, Tony presented you with a suit. You ran my fingers over it slowly, not wanted to disturb a single thing. You looked at it in awe, completely speechless at what he had created.
“Go on, try it on.” He shrugged casually. You grinned from ear to ear before rushing to the bathroom to put it on. You came out soon enough with tears in you eyes.
“You like it?” Tony asked. You looked at your covered hands in amazement. The suit was jet black, like Venom was, and hugged your body like a second skin. There was a big white spider symbol on the front, the complete opposite of Spider-Mans small black one. You figured it was a nod to being called the anti Spider-Man and it was perfect.
“Well?” Tony was still waiting for an answer. You looked up at him just as a few tears fell down you cheeks.
“We didn’t celebrate my birthday growing up because it was the anniversary of my moms death. I used to be so upset every year.” You blurted. Tony looked like he didn’t know what to say and you couldn’t blame him. That was something deeply personal and you had only just met him.
“What I’m trying to say is, I get it now.” You explained. “All those missed birthdays were for a reason. I didn’t get gifts those days because I’m getting the ultimate gift right now. This is the most amazing thing I could’ve asked for. I cannot thank you enough Mr. Stark. I’ll never take it off.”
“You can’t take it off anyway.” Tony told you. “When you don’t want to wear it, it absorbs back into your skin like Venom does. And it’s equipped with Venoms essential abilities. It’s bullet proof, knife proof, taser proof, spork proof and so on. And you can still shoot your webby things. You just won’t have super strength, super speed, or that Venus flytrap mouth of yours.”
You tested it out and shot a web towards his desk. You grabbed a pen and caught it with ease, then looked at Tony for approval.
“That’s the best I could do. It’s no Iron Man suit but it’ll suffice.” Tony said casually. You couldn’t take it anymore and rushed towards him to hug him tightly.
“Thank you.” You said into his chest. Tony patted your back awkwardly and you let go.
“It’s nothing. You can thank me by not eating Spider-Man. I know he’s annoying but he doesn’t mean any harm. Now go forth and do good.” Tony requested.
You swung back to the apartment and landed on the roof. You turned back into yourself and made your way down the steps to your floor. After this mornings conversation with Peter and the incredible suit from Mr. Stark, you were having a great day. For the first time in years, you couldn’t wait for tomorrow.

warnings: angst and swearing
summary: here
-
“in order to take the stone, you must lose that which you love.”
it feels like your stomach just dropped all the way down the cliff you’re standing on. peter grips your arm, pulling you away from the cloaked man. you know what you have to do.
your dad sent you and peter to vormir to get the soul stone. they’d both been to space once before this, and it didn’t end well. they were lucky to survive. most of the universe didn’t. now you have the chance to fight for the same thing they did. the other avengers needed all the help they could get to pull this off, so here you are.
you’ll hopefully be able to bring everyone back. you just didn’t realize you’d have to die for them to live.
“he doesn’t know what he’s talking about, y/n. don’t listen to him.” peter rubs up and down your arm to calm you down, squinting his eyes at the man. you give him a halfhearted smile. all the words are stuck in your throat. you know he’s right, that one of you has to go. you’re not going to let it be peter.
you turn to face him with the same sad look. he shakes his head a bunch of times before you can say anything. “it’s true, peter. you know how nebula said gamora was here and never came back? he must have had to sacrifice her.” “no. no way. she... she could’ve gone somewhere else after-“
you cup both of peter’s cheeks, willing him to look at you. he puts his hands on top of yours and meets your eyes. nodding, you smooth your thumb across his skin gently.
“peter...” your voice breaks. you wanted to be strong for him, but it’s all hitting you at once. this is the last time you’ll see him. this is the last time you’ll see anyone.
“there’s gotta be another way, right? we’ll figure it out. you’re so smart. i know you can think of something.” he’s in denial. “no, peter. i can’t. i’m not my dad.” you let out a teary laugh, sniffling a bit. peter pulls you into his chest and holds you tightly against him. your arms hug his middle after a few seconds.
this is it. your final goodbye. you’ve been with peter for years, seen each other at your worst moments. nothing compares to what you’re going through right now. it’s never been so hard to let him go.
he presses his lips to your hair, which only makes you cry more. you’re finally able to pull away from his chest and crash your lips into his one last time. hands grasping at your waist, he kisses you back with tears running down his own cheeks. it’s messy and salty and heartbreaking, but it’s you guys. you wipe at the tear stains on peter’s suit and give him one more peck on his cheek.
“i love you the most, y/n. you know that, right? i’m so fucking in love with you,” peter chokes out, pressing his forehead against yours. you take a shaky breath and put your hands on his cheeks again. “i know, pete. i love you so much. so, so much.” you stay like that until both of you silently agree it’s time.
“now that you’ve said your goodbyes,” the red skull chimes in, “which one of you is it going to be?”
“me,” you and peter both say at the same time. huh? he looks at you with wide eyes. you’re just as confused as he is for once. “y/n, what? i thought we both decided it was gonna be me.” “no, that’s what i thought. you’re not doing this.”
the red skull sighs impatiently from behind you.
“please, y/n. i made a promise to your dad that i’d keep you safe out here. i can’t break that.” “i promised myself i wouldn’t let you die.” you give him a stern look. “maybe this is me dealing with some self-sacrificial stark shit right now, but i can’t break that either.”
ignoring everything you just said, peter moves to put his mask back on. you take it out of his hand. “uh, what the hell?” “peter, you‘re gonna do amazing things. you already do now. i can’t imagine what you’ll accomplish in ten years, or even one. you‘re not going yet.” he squeezes his eyes shut. “stop that. you will, too. just give me my mask back, y/n.”
you throw your hands up in disbelief, still holding it. “being rich isn’t amazing, peter! you have more going for you than i do. admit it.” he can’t help but frown at what you’re saying. this shouldn’t be your last memory together.
“baby, what are you talking about? you got to join the team, you make awesome high-tech stuff, you’re a genius. come on.” “here’s your mask.” you shove it into his hand, letting your touch linger for a moment. “i really do love you more than anything.” you suddenly make a run for the edge of the cliff before peter anticipates it.
he moves fast and shoots a web to pull you back, rushing over to you. “oh my god, y/n! what are you thinking?” “i’m thinking you need to get the stone. don’t worry about me.” you get yourself back up, only for peter to push you down again. so, he wants to fight you for this.
you knee his stomach from the ground so he falls over, taking the opportunity to jump for real. peter manages to lean over and shoot a taser web at you before you go too far. that one stings. you yelp and hold your arm where he got you, but you’re not giving up that easy.
“sorry, babe. didn’t mean to hurt you,” peter calls out, getting back on his feet. you walk the short distance over to him. “i’m doing this because i love you, okay? that’s all.” he whispers to you. with a fake smile, you take his hand. peter thinks that means you’re done. then, you use it to flip him onto his back. he groans in pain, not trying to get up this time.
now that he’s out for good, it’s really happening. you’re at peace with what you have to do. you take one final look at peter and start running. you run until you get to the edge of the cliff. peter must’ve realized what’s going on because you hear him calling your name. you forgot how much endurance he has in him.
“y/n, y/n stop!” he yells, already behind you. you stay put. “it shouldn’t be you! listen to me, it’s not too late to change your mind.” you don’t bother turning around to see him. you’ll give in if you do. “remember what i said, pete. all of it.”
with that, your heart beating hard in your ears, you throw yourself off the edge of the cliff. peter uses everything in him to web you to the side, but he can only get one out, so you grab onto a rock. not because you changed your mind. because you owe him a real final goodbye.
“wh- how am i out? i’ll come get you, just- fuck.” peter leans over the edge, looking down at you with watery eyes. you hold up his extra web cartridge and smile sadly. you took it when you were hugging earlier since you had a feeling he’d try to stop you.
“it’s okay, peter. you’ll be okay.” “y/n-“ you let go of the rock and fall fast, hitting the ground while peter cries out. “no!” he grips at the crumbling ground where you first jumped. your lifeless body is staring up at him. he could’ve stopped this. he drops to his knees as a loud sob racks through him, still looking down at you.
“no,” his voice is quiet, small, out of energy and broken. there’s no one here to dry his tears anymore.
-
peter isn’t sure how it happened, but he wakes up underwater. he pulls his head up with a cough. his eyes still feel puffy, so he couldn’t have been out too long. there’s something glowing in his hand. slowly, he opens his shaking hand and immediately recognizes what it is. the soul stone. red skull was right. peter lost who he loves all for a stupid fucking stone.
-
the whole team arrives back at the avengers facility at the same time, like bruce said they would. everyone seems so happy. thor got mjölnir back, scott is buzzing over steve, tony is laughing at one of nat’s jokes. tony. how is peter supposed to tell him what happened? his kid died, and it’s peter’s fault. he bursts into tears again at the thought of it. he’s surprised he even has more left in him.
tony is the first to notice. “parker, what’s wrong? why isn’t y/n with you?” the rest of the team rushes over to him. peter chokes out a sob, everything replaying in his head.
“she- she.” he can hardly breathe let alone speak. tony puts a hand on his shoulder. “kid, you’re scaring me. i can’t fix it unless you tell me what‘s up.” he waves for everyone else to back up so peter has space. bruce and nat share a look. “she’s gone, mr. stark! she’s not here. i re- i really messed up.”
peter throws the stone that he’s been holding at the floor. silently, rocket picks it up.
somehow understanding what he means, tony pulls peter in for a hug. he hurts like hell too, but this kid needs him right now. peter has always had a habit of blaming himself for things he can’t control. tony is pretty sure this is one of those things. he hugs him back as tight as he can.
“i’m so sorry, mr. stark. i’m so sorry.”
-
five years later and peter is numb. another stark left him, and he sort of gave up in life. at 21 years old. without a mentor, he got lost in the superhero world. spider-man went from being an avenger to party entertainment for kids. it’s an easy way to make money. the people loved him before, they’ll love him again. all he does now is book birthday parties and drink the nights away.
the only emotion peter still feels is anger. he hates the world and he hates what he’s done, or hasn’t done. every time he puts on that mask, it reminds him of the night you died. he has to fight the urge to rip it to shreds. if he didn’t need to pay the bills, he would’ve at this point. most of all, he resents himself for letting you down.
you sacrificed yourself for peter to lead a full life, and look what he’s done with it. he’s a drunk loser. that’s not what you wanted for him.
one day, it all changes.
there’s a knock at peter’s door. he grumbles something about paying his rent, expecting it to be his landlord. he opens it to find you instead. thinking he’s had too much to drink, he shuts the door in your face. you‘re a little bit shocked, but you knock again.
“um, peter? that’s you in there, right? pretty sure you’re the only peter parker in queens.” you call from the hallway. “whoever’s trying to fuck with me, just get out of here. i’m not in the mood today.” he flops back down on his couch, taking a sip of his nearly finished beer. you’re already fed up, so you open the door yourself.
“i said-“ he shuts up when you sit down next to him. “are you real? you can’t be... you died years ago.” “peter.” you take his hands. he’s confused, but lets you. it’s weird seeing him, both of you being adults now. you’ll have to get used to it.
“when you brought everyone back, it worked for me too.” he stares at you with his mouth hanging open for a minute. “that’s not possible. we did that a few days after you... you know.” “i know it sounds insane, but i came back on vormir. i had to find a way back to earth, which took a really long time. i’ve been looking for you since then. there’s no perfect way for me to explain all of this, but i promise it’s really me.”
you being here, it’s like peter was in a five year trance and he snapped out of it.
he throws his arms around you, you laughing and threading your fingers through his matted curls. he’s convinced you’ll disappear again if he lets you go, so he holds you even tighter.
“y/n, baby. oh my god. i missed you so much. i’m sorry it’s such a mess here.” you wind your arms around his neck. “you haven’t changed a bit, pete.” “i brought you back, you brought me back.”

Dilema
Tumblr media
Pairing: Aaron Hotchner x Reader
Promt: Aaron admits his feelings to you at JJ and Will’s wedding leaving you speachless
Warnings: None
Part Two Part Three
MASTERLIST
-----
“You look miserable”
Rossi sat next to me sliding a flute of champange my way, I glady accepted the beverage downing it in one go in hopes of drowning out the couple that was dancing on the dance floor
Aaron and Beth
“I’m not”
“Then why are you sitting so far from everyone?”
I traced my fingers aimlessly around the rim of my glass refusing to look at the Italian
“I’m sure he told you what happened between us so could you blame me?” looking up at him he pat my shoulder
“We haven’t even been broken up for five minutes and then he’s already with her, he even brought her as his plus one” speaking in a hushed tone I leaned closer to Rossi not wanting to catch the attention of Morgan and Reid as they walked by
Aaron and I had a secret relationship which went on for a year and the only person who knew was Rossi, he had found out when he showed up unannounced at Aaron’s apartment catching me walking out the bathroom wrapped in my towel. How we managed to make it last so long without the others finding out was still a mystery.
“It’s like he’s forcing her down my throat” I swallowed the lump that formed in my throat
“Y/n want to dance?” Jack’s sweet voice interruped us causing me to look over at the adoreable little boy who’s holding my arm
“Of course little man, let’s go” excusing myself I let the eager six year old pull me to the dance floor
His little hands held onto mine as we swayed to the song drawing the attention of the team. Jack raised his hand up and signalled for me to turn, giggling I stooped down to his height and he spun me carefully before tackling me in a hug
“Who knew a Hotchner was the key to get you out of your seat?”  Derek joked as he danced with Emily
“Only this handsome guy could get me to do anything” My fingers pinched Jack’s cheeks causing him to giggle
“Jack do you want to dance with me?”
Beth asked and the little boy latched onto my leg glaring at her not bothering to hide his distaste for her.  It’s taking everything in me to not laugh at the look on Aaron’s face
“Buddy let’s go colour with Henry” he eagerly pulled me away from the others heading straight to the table where Henry was
“Hi aunt y/n” he smiled up at me
“Hey buddy, can Jack and I join you?” nodding he gave Jack and I blank sheets of paper and some crayons
They both sat there drawing and compairing their versions of Spider-man completely blocking out the adults around them, oh to be a child. Leaning back into my seat I felt a pair of eyes on me, turning my head my eyes locked with Aaron’s. Beth was chatting away and by the looks of it he wasn’t listening to a thing she said
“Aunt y/n which one do you like more?”
“Let’s see” holding my hand up to my chin I playfully analyzed both drawings
“I love them both, why don’t you boys keep working while I disappear for a few minutes”
Standing up I ruffled their hair before heading to Rossi’s kitchen to escape his intense gaze. The door shut behind me as I walked over to the island, leaning on it I buried my face in my palms
I could easily leave without anyone noticing
No you can’t leave your friend’s wedding without saying goodbye
Groaning I plopped down into one of the bar stools wishing this night would just end already
“You alright?” startled my head snapped in the direction of the voice
Aaron
Can this be any worse?
“Peachy, what are you doing here?” grumbling I picked at my nails as he moved to stand opposite me
“I saw you take off from the boys, thought I’d check up on you” his arms rested on the counter top as he leaned forward
“Well as you can see, I’m alright now leave, please” the lump in my throat returned
“Y/n-”
“Don’t...start Aaron”
I could sense the direction of this conversation and I really wasn’t in the mood to deal with him right now
“Beth is probably wondering where you are you should go” his eyes softened seeing how glossed over my eyes were from the tears that threatened to fall
“Can we talk?” letting out a sarcastic laugh I looked at him
“Really, talk? Does it look like I want to talk to you, matter of fact, does it look like I want see you right now?” my lips trembled as I tried so desperately to hold back the river
“No but-”
“Exactly so leave me alone!” my voice raised
“There’s nothing to talk about Hotch, you made it pretty clear that you’ve moved on and I have to accept it. You don’t have to give me the whole bullshit speech that you leaving me was for our best interest at work” he rounded the counter coming closer
“At the time I thought that was best” I got up and put even more space between us because I knew that if he even brushed my arm with his fingers I’d be done
“A year Aaron, you ended us not three months in, not six months but after a whole fucking year and not even five minutes later you’re already moved on!” I pointed my finger at him letting out my anger, not caring to wipe the hot tears that streamed down my face
“Keep your voice down” he said stepping closer to me
“Why, there’s nothing to hide anymore so why bother to keep quiet. You’re so full of shit you know that” brushing past him I moved to exit the kitchen
“I still love you y/n”
Freezing, I turned around to face him. His usually hard eyes were now red and filled with tears
“I never stopped loving you” I walked over to him, taking in his broken state
Without processing my actions my hand reached up and slapped his cheek. My hand stung but I didn’t care, scoffing I rushed out the kitchen, door slamming shut behind me
“Mama you alright?” Ignoring Derek I went over to the boys and kissed them goodbye before heading over to the newlyweds
“Hey what happened?” JJ asked looking at my face
“It’s nothing, I just came to tell  you guys that I’m heading home. Congratulations again you two deserve all the happiness in the world” briefly hugging them I headed for the exit not bothering to make my rounds to the others
“Kid” Rossi called out for me but I didn’t stop
I all but ran to my car and got in. Jabbing the keys in the ignition the engine roared to life and I sped off just wanting to get far away from that house
And that asshole

Something About the Sunshine
❣Something About the Sunshine❣
❤ Pairing: Ryujin x Reader
❤ Genre: Fluff
❤ Word Count: 4.2k
❤ Song Suggestions: Surf & Nobody Like You by Itzy and Something About the Sunshine from Starstruck
Tumblr media
Literally everyone but Ryujin found suspicious the amount of times she had been repeating the words 'It's just a friend's trip!' when asked about your upcoming vacation together to California. Her bandmates laughed the first time, but by the twenty-seventh time they were around to hear it they just mockingly imitated Ryujin. They were a hundred percent sure every single employee on JYP knew she was going on a ‘just friends’ trip’.
But it’s not like they didn’t notice how Ryujin’s eyes glow when she’s talking about you, how she messes her hair when somebody asks her about you, or how she goes from the fiercest and bravest person when you are being attacked by a nasty spider minding its business on wall, to the softest and clingiest girl when she cuddles with you on movie nights.
Maybe the ‘it’s just a friend’s trip!’ wasn’t trying to convince anyone, but herself.
The day arrived, and you were sitting in Itzy's living room, waiting for the car to arrive to take you both to the airport.
Yuna sat down by your side eating a tuna wrap, still wearing her night suit and the messiest mane you had ever seen. You were very used to seeing them all like that, since you are really close to Itzy, others have even mistaken you for their manager since you are basically always around them.
“Want some?” The younger girl extended her snack to you courteously, her voice still raspy from being awake so early.
“I’m okay Yuna, thanks!” You tried to hold back a giggle at the sight of Yuna clumsily existing at five o’clock in the morning. “Why are you up so early?”
“Schedules, practices, couldn’t stop thinking about this wrap…” She got lost in her own subconscious as she stared at the piece of food embraced by her hands. “It’s not even mine, but why would someone leave it abandoned in the fridge like that?”
“The car is here!” Ryujin rushed out of her room with her suitcase in hand. She fashioned a huge smile and a weirdly big enthusiasm for this time of the day. “Time to go Y/n!”
You stood from the couch, scrambling the younger girl’s hair to which she just looked at you drowsingly dumbfounded. You both headed towards the door carrying all your luggage.
“Have a nice trip! Bring me a gift, and don’t come back unless you’re dating” She whispered the last part, urgently took another bite of her tuna wrap and a smirk teasingly appeared on her mouth.
The last thing you saw was Ryujin throwing a beanie straight to the younger member’s face before closing the door behind her.
Even though the flight was long, the 12 hours passed swiftly in between naps, movies and little scattered conversations with Ryujin. You could talk about anything all the time and never get tired, but couldn't fail to see something bothering her, deep inside her conscious the entire journey.
After picking up your luggage and grabbing a taxi to your hotel, the effects of hour difference and the hustle of the trip started to dawn on you. And you were both so tired that you failed to realize the room they gave you had only one queen-sized bed. It still wouldn't have bothered you, you both had shared even smaller beds before.
Ryunjin jumped into the bed as one should, patting the side for you to join her. You laid beside her, as she wrapped her arms around you. Both not hesitant to fall in a deep slumber.
The clock marked 7 O'clock, and a little ray of sunshine peeked through the disheveled curtains and rested over your eyes, waking you up with its warmth. You stretched your body grasping your reality, this was not your house and you were not in Korea anymore. Carefully stretching your body, you recognized the presence of the girl beside you. Turning around, you saw her calm and resting expression, the image plastering a smile on your face.
You silently rose from the bed, tip-toeing towards the sunrays. You warily slided open the door to the balcony, being welcomed by the sights of a waking city, illuminated by the dawn of a new day. That's when suddenly you felt a pair of arms surrounding your neck. The familiar embrace made the moment even more special, as you took in your hands those that rested in your chest. You stayed there in a comfortable silence, feeling Ryujin's breath and smile forming against the back of your neck.
"Hey…" Ryujin broke the silence first. "Sorry about what Yuna said back home, she was just-"
You released a light chuckle, finally having the answer to her worries. "I know Yuna, she's not the serious type."
"Yeah…" Even with a weight lifted from her shoulders, Ryujin couldn't help but dwell on the matter. "I guess she was just joking."
"But hey, we didn't come here to be locked down in the hotel room, did we?" You turned around, jokingly punching the other girl's arm. "Let's go!"
"Twelve hours of flying are pretty heavy," She watched your enthusiasm fly as you scattered throughout the room, grabbing some things from your suitcase and heading to the bathroom to take a shower. "Are you sure you don't want to stay a little more and-"
"Oh, c'mon!" You grabbed her by the hand, shaking her mind up. "We'll just go for a walk, grab something to eat. It's not like we're going to Disneyland right now."
"Sounds good to me!" Ryujin didn't hesitate to match your enthusiasm and rushed to get her stuff ready. "Where do we go?"
"Actually…" You fidgeted your hands playfully. "It's a surprise."
-❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️-
“Venice beach?” Ryujin’s eyes grew as big as the moon. “This is where I-”
“-filmed the Nobody Like You music video!” You both said at the same time.
“Yes!” An eager smile was painted across your face at the sight of the shimmer in the other girl’s eyes. "I thought you might like coming back…”
"And I prefer the company a whole lot more this time!" Her fingers interlaced with yours as she chuckled at her joke. "Please don't tell the girls I said that."
"I'm texting Yeji right away-"
"What, no!" Ryujin threw herself for your phone but you reacted quickly, prompting a whole game of tag for your phone.
"Hi Yejiii-unnieeeee!" You started a voice note at the same time that you tried out-running Ryunjin in the still calm paths of the boardwalk. "The flight was fine and we landed perfectly! The hotel is very cosy and the sight's amazing. But Ryujin just said that she prefers me over yo- AH!"
You felt your body be wanked from the floor, your back landing against the sand. Your phone flew from your hand, and Ryujin dove to reach it, landing beside you. An endless stream of laughter followed, one of those that make your eyes tear and your belly ache. Ryujin made sure the voice note didn't send, but to her bad fortune, Yeji had already listened to it and typed her response:
Glad the trip went alright! And don't worry, we already knew Ryujin prefers you. Not only over us, she prefers you over anything or anyone really.
Ryujin's cheeks flared up as she read the message, the laughter in her disappearing abruptly. She sheepishly handed your phone back, playing nervously with her hair as you read it too.
"Awwww!" You mockingly teased her, wrapping your arms around her head. "Do you really love me that much??"
"I… Well, maybe, yeah- I don't know-" She couldn't even finish a coherent sentence, trapped in between her nerves and your teasing.
You stood up, still giggling at everything that just happened, glaring at the fine line separating the sky from the sea as it shined a light blue with little hints of orange and yellow as the last minutes of sunrise bathed you in their light.
This gave Ryujin a perfect view of you, as your silhouette was perfectly enframed on the sun rays hitting your body. She smiled at the way the sun rested on your soft cheeks, your smile competing against it for the brightest thing in her life.
It started dawning on her, that maybe it was true. Maybe she did prefer you over anything and anyone.
"Care to give me a tour Mrs. Shin Ryujin?" You proposed with a fruity and jestering voice while extending your hand, breaking her daydreaming.
She took your hand as she stood and shook away some sand in her clothes. That Ryujin from the hotel room who wanted to rest and who was a little too much inside her head banished in a matter of seconds, pulling you around the stores and streets she visited with her group mates. You weren't complaining at all, aside from being Ryujin's best friend you were also a huge fan of Itzy. Always present, front row on their performances, shows and even sometimes rehearsals. And there was nothing better than listening to an excited Ryujin showing you around and retelling her memories with the glow in her eyes reflecting all the light of the vibrant place.
You walked among the shops and food stands, halting in front of a familiar stand, with displays full of sunglasses of different shades and shapes. You both tried a thousand different styles after finally deciding on a matching pair. A round dark frame with the crystals tinted to each of your favorite colors. You kept walking along that ally, hands intertwined as you pointed to all of the little details you found along the way.
“And here…” Ryujin smirked teasingly at you, stopping in front of the skate rental where Itzy got theirs when they filmed the Nobody like you MV. “It’s where the fun starts.”
“Oh no.” You pushed her away from you, a nervous but playful giggle escaping your mouth. “There’s no way you’re going to get me on one of those.”
“You asked for the full Itzy Experience Tour didn’t you?” She lowered her new sunglasses to glare at you teasingly.
“I- Yes but…”
“Then it’s time for you to learn how to skate.” She turned around, quickly renting a pair of skateboards from the man tending the local. She came back, holding the skateboards on each hand, handling you one of them with a triumphant smile. “Here Y/n, I even rented the helmet, knee pads and elbow pads in your favorite color, they will match with your glasses!”
“It’s not like I don’t like how they look Ryujin.” You sneered, taking the board on your hands. You examined its weight, hesitating to put it on the ground. “I don’t know how to ride one.”
“Oh I know, I’m going to teach you!” She confidently rejoiced in her talents, as she fastened the safety equipment around her body. “If I was able to make you dance Wannabe, do you think I can’t do this?”
“How many times have you rode one of these?” Ryujin stopped her movement at the question, clearing her throat pretending not to listen to you. “Ryujin-ah…”
“Maybe like…” She stood up, her face trying hard to convey a sense of security but only managing to sound arrogantly sweet. “...Once?”
“That’s it, we’re dying today.” You laughed as you put your safety equipment on, shaking your head in disapproval at yourself, since you still were willing to do anything for the girl in front of you, especially when a hit of her puppy eyes started peeking out of her.
“Okay first, one foot. Straight.” After you were both equipped and ready, she started demonstrating on her own board, stepping with her left foot on the board, turning around to make sure you were following the instructions. You imitated her movements with so much less confidence. "Now, you'll push with your right foot and…"
You only watched baffled, your body refusing to move as she glided through the plaza with no problem. Pleasantly surprised and relieved that she still had the muscle memory to remember how to stay on top of it. A smile emerged in your face at the sight of your bestfriend making an effort to keep herself going, giggles filling the air as she circled you with ease. You took your phone out to capture the moment, and the instant Ryujin noticed the camera, her idol-self came out, acting with charisma at it, flustering you with the winks and smirks she gave to the lenses.
“C’mon, now it’s your turn.” She approached you defiant, confident. Her presence and attitude helped you grab a bit of courage, but not enough to start without a little bit of help.
You innately searched for Ryujin’s hand, not surprised when you realized she was already offering to take yours. You firmly put your left feet on the skateboard, and pushed gently with the right, helping you glide, as the girl beside you jogged at your speed. You tried again, now gaining more speed, and then tried once more. The sea breeze hit your face, rampaging your hair, a big and refreshing change from the city air you were so used to breath all the time back home. Your body flinched at the velocity you were traveling to, but Ryujin didn’t let you fall, her support helping you stay on.
“You have absolutely no permission to let go of my hand Shin Ryujin.” You babbled, holding on for dear life to her hand which was probably the only thing keeping you from falling down.
“You know I never would.” For a moment, all those worries in Ryujin’s head dissipated. You blushed at her words and she smiled at your sun-kissed image.
It had a certain charm for her, you needed her protection and guidance, as she only focused on you staying alive and having fun. You stopped for a while, ecstatic at the thought of still being alive after that.
“You are a very quick learner. Or maybe I’m just an excellent teacher.” Ryujin joked, earning a slap on her arm as she helped you stabilize yourself to get off the board. “I think you're ready to go on your own.”
“I only could do that because you were grabbing on to me!” You whined.
“I’ll be close to catch you if you fall.” Her smile was kind, protective, the kind that made you melt into everything she said. A big part of your friendship was teasing each other non-stop, but when it came to serious matters, there was no one out there you trusted more than Ryujin.
“Promise?” You trembled.
“I promise.”
You, a little bit more confident now, repeated the steps to get over your skateboard and you pushed, gently. When you stabilized your body over the moving board, you repeated but with a stronger push. With a bit more confidence now taking up, you started steering with the weight of your body, your nerves releasing themselves in the form of giggles.
You noticed Ryujin skating close to you, now skillful enough to be focusing you with her phone while gliding around to get some pretty takes and pictures of you. She cheered, a wide grin adorning her face as little wrinkles appeared on the edges of her eyes, the way they did when something made her stupidly happy.
You were so focused on Ryujin’s antics and she was so into you too, that you failed to see a slightly raised sidewalk straight in your path. Ryujin caught a glimpse of it just in time to jump towards you, surrounding your entire body with hers. With her feet landing first in a patch of grass, the scenario of you both flying through the air and landing into concrete was avoided. But thanks to the speed your bodies carried and you not being able to stop them, you still tripped down, Ryujin falling on her back and you right on top of her. You were quick to raise your heads, realizing they were only a few inches away, blood rising, coating your faces in red.
“Maybe I should-” You were quick to get up, no scratches or bruises in sight. Ryujin seemed free of injury too, so you extended your hand to help her up. “I’m sorry.”
“No, don’t worry. I’m totally okay.” She took your hand and stood up, fixing her clothes. Her hands instinctively wished to check you, and help you fix yourself too, but a certain tension that filled the air stopped her from doing so. “Are... are you okay?”
“Yeah, yeah. I’m fine too.” You responded, fixing your hair yourself and avoiding her glance.
Ryujin went to pick up the skateboards, leaving the silence between you lingering for longer than it should. While walking back, you both caught a glimpse of each other’s eyes, making you release an stressed giggle, easing the ambience around just a bit.
“Let’s take this back and grab something to eat.” Ryujin proposed as you walked side to side back to the skates rental, an strange and awkward quietness encircling your steps.
-❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️-
You sat cuddled between Ryujin’s arms, the sights of the sea in front of you as you both enjoyed the beach, snacking on some american-flavored chips that you found on a K-mart along the way.
“Close your eyes.” You playfully demanded Ryujin.
“Why, what are you going to do to me?” She asked.
“I’m going to give you one of these flavors randomly and you have to guess which one it is!”
She obeyed, closing her eyes and releasing you from her embrace as you reached for your target. You grabbed one chip from the five bags sitting in front of you and gently placed it on Ryujin’s tongue. She opened her eyes at the instant flavor that filled her mouth, confused and maybe even a bit disgusted.
“Is it really that bad?” Your laugh bursted at her expressions.
“No, it’s just that-'' She kept chewing the chip, her face contorting even more with each second passing. “It’s interesting?”
“That’s what people say when something tastes bad but they don’t want to be rude about it” You kept laughing, looking at her amusingly. “Well, what flavor do you think that was?”
“I’m gonna say…” Her eyes and brows exaggerated her thought process as they playfully moved up and down. “...salt and vinegar?”
“No, Pickle-flavored!” You raised the bad of chips, triumphantly. “I told you these were a bad idea!”
“No! I had some hope for these!” She grabbed the bag from your hands, disappointment in her eyes as she examined the chips closer as if that could magically enhance their flavor for better. Ryujin extended the bag to you. “Here, try one and tell me what you think.”
“After seeing your face? I’ll pass, thanks” You pushed away her hand with the bag and her eyebrows furrowed.
“You can’t make me suffer alone! The chips thing was YOUR idea!” She started throwing one of her usual tantrums, shaking the bag in front of your face now. You kept throwing your head backwards and she answered by leaning in even closer, mumbling her complaints in a cute tone. Neither of you noticed when, but suddenly you found yourself laying under Ryujin. The instant she realized your position, she stopped her fit and the blush in her cheeks flared up.
“You have some-” In your attempt of diffusing the situation, you reached your thumb towards her lips, paralysing even further the girl on top of you. She couldn’t take the flood of ideas invading her mind that the sight of you staring straight at her lips, caressing them gently created.
She quickly sat up, distress all over her face avoiding looking at you as much as possible. You were both just friends, nothing more. Why do those ideas start appearing now? No. Why was Ryujin not able to suppress those ideas now as well as before?
You followed her, looking straight at her conflicted face now being illuminated by the sunset in the horizon. Your hand reached for her chin, gently pulling it to meet your eyes with hers. You felt her breathing halting at the action, to what you offered a delicate smile.
“You know you can tell me anything, right?” You skipped the ‘something’s bothering you’ talk, you knew your best friend enough to know she would deny everything, try and cover anything.
“Yes, I know…” Now Ryujin’s eyes were the ones who could decide to rest on your eyes or in your lips, with even more ideas invading her mind. “I just don’t know where to start.”
“Would it help if I start this time?” You smiled even wider, hiding the amount of courage you were trying to gather inside your mind.
Ryujin looked at you perplexed, as she expected you to keep pushing for her to talk but got this instead. She shook her head remembering your question, to which she nodded as an answer.
“It’s not new, I’ve been dealing with all of this for a long time but I couldn’t bring myself to tell you. And maybe it’s not even the best time to tell you, giving that there’s an entire vacation together at risk…” You started mumbling, your eyes diverting all around you as your train of thoughts backed up from the enthusiasm.
“Hey…”  She used your techniques against you, grabbing your chin and raising it to meet her eyes. Your nervous rambling woke up Ryujin’s protective side, as she now offered you an uneasy smile. “You know you can tell me anything, right?”
You deadlocked your eyes on her, serious. You jokingly slapped her arm for using your own weapons against you, but like a magnet, the silence between you only called for your eyes to be lost on hers. You couldn’t tell thanks to your nerves, but you were getting your faces closer with each second passing. A deep sigh from Ryujin’s side broke the tension, aided you to gain back your courage, you were going to blurt it out now or nev-
“I like you. Maybe I could even dare say that I love you Y/n.” Ryujin sputtered first, avoiding your eyes. Your breath halted, earning a gasp at the sudden confession, bringing your hands to your open mouth. Your mind was way too shocked to remember how to properly function, paralysed in the moment. At the awkward silence created, Ryujin gathered all her body strength to look back at you, her mind racing a thousand miles per hour to find a way to save the moment. “It’s okay if you don’t return-”
“Shin Ryujin, I was going to tell you that!” You moaned playfully, the entirety of your body relaxing now as you could help painting a huge smile across your face.
“You- what?” It was now her turn to be astonished. Your unusual response made it even more confusing to her, as the scenarios that her head created were of totally different colors from the one presented in front of her. It wasn’t until you stopped nervously giggling and locked eyes with her again that you realized that you had to explain yourself.
“I love you too dummy.” You cupped her hands in yours, happy tears blurring your sight from excitement.
“Oh. OH!” Ryujin’s whole face illuminated as the facts dawned on her, her worries floating away with the sounds of the sea in the background. She released a chuckle as she confidently put her hands around your waist, pulling you closer. “Does that mean I get to-”
“Yes! A thousand times yes!” You giggled, not even bothering to listen to the rest of her sentence, knowing exactly that what followed was something you’ve waited for a long time.
Ryujin excitedly cupped your cheeks, pulling you towards her. Your lips clashed with urgency, dancing at the rhythm of the tropical music in the background of Venice Beach, earning a smile from both that could only be eased as you joined your lips each time after breathing for air. The warmth of the sun setting in the horizon, filled your bodies from head to toe, as your beating heart took care of the inside.
Time is never the first thing that counts when you’re sure you just found the love of your life, but when you parted your lips again and looked around, the lamp posts started turning on, some neon signs from the stores behind you started coloring the streets. You sighed, resting your head on your girlfriend’s shoulder. A comfortable silence surrounding you both, with everything but your heartbeats synchronized resonating in the air.
“The girls are going to lose their mind when we tell them.” You broke the silence first, sighing at the idea popping in your head.
“We’ll worry about them later.” She laughed as her mind painted the picture too. “Let’s keep this between us for now, we’ll plan a prank in the plane back home. Deal?”
“Deal.” You chuckled at the suggestion, glad that your best friend was back. And even better than before, cause now you get to kiss her whenever you want.
The last rays of sun lighted you both like a spotlight in the end of a show, but what it really felt like was the beginning of the best adventure, by the side of the most amazing person in your life.

Day 25 - Orgy (Peter/Avengers)
I’m sorry this is out late, I had a horrific day and it made writing really hard. But I’m doing better now and hope everyone enjoys 💜 I might even add a second part to this one if that’s something people want, this was a lot of fun to write
Warnings: orgy, oral sex, I don’t think there are any other ‘warnings’, it’s just pure filth yall
————
Peter was living the dream.
See, he hadn’t been so sure how to feel when the idea of an orgy was proposed. He was fairly inexperienced, always wanted to to everything right. Being thrown into everyone with way more experience than him definitely made him nervous.
Until he figured out that everyone wanted him.
He knew that Tony wanted him. The tension between them was thick enough to cut with scissors, so he figured he’d at least be with Tony.
But then Bucky had spoke up about how it had been a while since he’d been with anyone. Maybe someone with less experience would be good for him.
Then Steve causally mentioned actually being a virgin, and how he trusted that Peter would be careful even given the circumstance.
That surprised Peter, he wasn’t sure that he believed Captain America hadn’t gotten any action before, but he wouldn’t say anything.
Natasha made a comment about not trusting the others to actually be good and take her orders that she liked to give.
Thor didn’t need to say anything, the way that he instantly gravitated towards Peter when the proposal had been made told him all that he needed to know.
Even Sam, who notoriously liked to act like he hated Peter, said that he could be good for a round.
He had easily a half dozen people that wanted him. He had almost the whole Avengers team (minus Clint, married, and Bruce, couldn’t have sex) plus some that wanted to sleep with him.
He absolutely couldn’t believe it.
So then they got started.
Of course everyone couldn’t start with Peter, so they paired off in various ways.
Steve, Bucky, and Sam were instantly on each other, hands reaching and groping and mouths exploring.
Thor decided to watch them, leaning back on the couch and simply observing.
And Natasha kept a close eye on Peter, determined that she would have him next.
Peter shyly smiled at Tony as the older man pulled him in.
“I know you’ve never done anything like this,” Tony murmured, kissing over his jaw gently.
Peter’s lips curved up in a slight smile as he tilted his head back to give Tony better access to his skin. “You don’t know that for sure. You don’t know what I’ve done.”
“I’m pretty sure you would have told me if you’ve ever had an orgy before.” Tony grinned, one hand dropping to gently cup Peter’s hardening cock through his sweatpants.
The younger man bit his lip, breath hitching in his throat. “I don’t tell you everything, you know.”
“But have you done it?”
“Well, no,” Peter finally admitted, huffing a laugh. “But still. I’ll be fine.”
Tony hummed, finally satisfied by the answer he was given as he buried his face in Peter’s neck and began leaving love bites. “You will be. Because if anyone even looks at you in way you don’t like, I’m getting them thrown out and banned from the tower.”
“Thank you, Mr. Stark,” Peter gasped out, head lolling back as he basked in the feeling of getting the marks.
At the gasp, Thor glanced up and towards them. He slowly stood, making his way towards them.
Tony’s hand slipped into the waistband of the younger man’s sweats when he became aware of the god behind them.
“Mind if I join?” Thor asked, eyes careful and calculating, but definitely with a playful light to them.
“I might mind,” Tony commented, sucking another mark onto Peter’s neck as he slipped his hand into the man’s pants.
“I don’t!” Peter said quickly. “Please. Please join,” he said breathlessly.
Thor grinned when he was given permission, quickly ignoring Tony and leaning in to kiss Peter directly on the mouth. “Thank you, young spider. I’ve been imagining being with you for so long now.”
Peter blushed, surprised from the kiss and the words that followed. There was absolutely no way that Thor had thought about being with him like that. He just couldn’t believe it. “O-oh,” he breathed. He groaned when Tony’s hand wrapped around his cock, like the older man was trying to prove a point.
“So, what do you want with him, pointbreak?” Tony asked suddenly, voice muffled against Peter’s neck.
Thor chuckled, the sound low and booming. “We are here for sexual encounters, yes?”
“Correct, thanks for the observation.”
Peter smacked Tony’s arm gently at the sarcastic comment. “Be nice,” he mumbled.
“I am being nice.” Tony twisted his hand, stroking Peter slowly. “Very nice.”
Peter groaned, biting his lip. “Not what I meant. But yes, now you’re being nice. Please don’t stop.”
The god watched them, humming softly. “Well, you seem to be preoccupied, touching wise. But I would be very happy if you were open to...giving pleasure as well as receiving.”
Peter snorted. “Is the god of thunder asking me to suck his dick?” He joked. “Because, uh, yes.”
“I like your enthusiasm,” Thor said happily. “That is what I was asking. So that’s a yes?” He didn’t even wait for an answer, pushing down the comfortable bottoms that he had been in. Which revealed that he hadn’t been wearing any underwear.
Peter blushed, eyes trailing over the thick cock that was made clear once it was uncovered. He could already tell from the tenting that had been in Thor’s pants that he would be huge, but it was much more intimidating to actually see.
Tony looked between them, still slowly stroking the younger man in his pants. “I guess we’ll need to change position a bit,” he mused. “Peter. Let’s get down, alright? On our knees.”
The young man nodded quickly, slowly sinking down to his knees as Tony did. That way Tony could keep touching him and he could please Thor. His mouth opened and he looked expectant.
Using one hand to guide his cock, Thor gently set the head on Peter’s waiting tongue. “Don’t try to do too much, I don’t want you to be worn out too early,” he warned.
Peter smirked, lips wrapping around the head and suckling gently just to start. He shivered at the moan that he got from the god. That just encouraged him more.
He got to work, able to take down half of the huge cock before it was just too much. He gagged as the tip hit the back of his throat, but he got a control of the reflex and kept going.
Thor was incredibly vocal and laced his large fingers through Peter’s hair as he kept going. Soon his hips began thrusting slightly, testing just how far Peter could take him.
Tony kept a close eye on them, making sure that Peter was feeling good as well as staying happy.
But despite the watery eyes and choked noises that came from him occasionally, Peter seemed absolutely thrilled with what he was doing.
It didnt take long with Peter’s skilled mouth for Thor to be getting close, hand tightening further in the young man’s hair. “Are you alright to swallow?” He asked, eyes close on him to catch a reaction.
Peter moaned and nodded, the bobbing motion of his head only helping the god get there closer. It took less than a minute more of his actions before he felt the first spurt of liquid shoot down his throat. He swallowed, pulling off just enough so that he would get a mouthful instead of it all just going down his throat.
Thor enjoyed that, head dropped back and breathing heavy as he rode out his orgasm. Then once he was done, he finally pulled out of Peter’s mouth.
The young man had a full mouth and seemed to be struggling to catch it all. Some had already dribbled from the corners of his mouth and down his chin as he swallowed it all down. “Woah,” he breathed, licking his lips.
Thor grinned at the reaction, not even bothering to tuck his cock back away. Instead he just kicked his pants off completely. He figured he would get a second round with someone, what was the point of keeping them on?
Tony watched them, chuckling as he watched Peter. “How have you not cum yet?” He teased, still stroking slowly.
Peter blushed at the question, taking his bottom lip between his teeth. “Because...ah, I can’t really cum just from...my dick being touched.”
“Please tell me you’re about to say what I hope you’re about to say,” Tony murmured.
“I gotta be...filled too. In order to finish.”
Tony groaned, kissing the man quickly despite there still being traces of cum on his lips. He didn’t care. “You’re incredible. And I’m definitely going to be the first to get to that ass. Get up and on the couch.”
Nodding, Peter stood up quickly. He blushed for a moment before pushing his pants and boxers off, figuring there wasn’t much point to them any more. Then he bent over the couch, leaning right into Natasha.
“Hi, miss,” he said shyly.
Natasha chuckled, adjusting them so that his arms were braced between her legs. “Hi, Peter. Can I have a turn now? I wanted to be the first you got that mouth on, but I can settle for second. If that’s alright with you.”
Peter nodded quickly, licking his red and swollen lips. “Yeah. Yes. I would love to. Please-“
His words were cut off by a strained moan as he felt lube being poured over his ass. It was really cold and had surprised him.
Tony grinned. “Whoops. Sorry, kid. Just figured we’d need some of this before we got started.”
Peter nodded, blinking to try and reorient himself. “Yeah. Of course. Just- warning please. Next time.”
“Next time,” Sam commented, getting closer after breaking away from Steve and Bucky. “I would love to be that next time. Although im pretty sure you won’t need any more lube, I think he just poured the whole bottle in your-“
“Just trying to be cautious,” Tony defended, sounding offended.
Sam raised his hands in surrender, shrugging. “I know it takes a lot, I’m just saying that was a ton.” He laughed, shaking his head. “But hey, I do want to be second here.” He patted Peter’s ass gently. “Although I’m pretty sure I’m going to ruin you for anyone else here.” He grinned, showing off the little gap between his teeth.
Peter couldn’t see it, but he always loved that gap. It was cute, even if the man who had it hated it. He loved the way it was shown off when Sam smiled. Which was often. “You can be second,” he told him.
“-but you won’t be ruining him for anyone,” Tony added. “Because that’s my job.”
Peter laughed, resting his cheek against Nat’s thigh. He was in for a long, long night.
And he couldn’t wait.

The Shadow Thief (part 4)
Summary: what happens when Peter has to work with the girl he hates to possibly save the world.
Word Count: 2k
Warnings: swearing
A/n: I apologize for the late chapter! :)
Tumblr media
_
"What the fuck." Peter said wide-eyed.
Peter quickly parked the car and unbutton his seatbelt. He opened the door and stepped out in front of the car. The Avengers compound was destroyed, all of the windows were busted through, the doors were broken and even a few walls were missing.
Peter felt as though his stomach was twisted into 10 knots. It was like some sort of sick joke. Could they really be gone? They were the earth's mightiest heroes, right? He clenched his fist, Peter felt tears weld up in his eyes but he never let them fall.
Y/n got out of the car and walked next to him. When she approached him, he didn't say a word, he just stood there and stared. After a few moments of silence, Y/n gave him a little nudge "Let's see if we can find anything inside."
Peter didn't say anything to acknowledge her but he followed her. Y/n stepped through the broken glass door. The electricity was cut so the elevator didn't work. She found the stairs so she began to climb.
The first floor they enter was the laboratories. They were all a wreck, it looked like they all had been scavenged through. Desks were flipped, papers were scattered, glass was everywhere.
Y/n looked over to Peter. His face was blank void of any emotions but she sensed he was still stuck in a state of shock. They needed to leave. She figured by now that who it was attacked them earlier had found where they were and sending another load of soldiers.
"Peter, where is the Avengers weaponry?" She asked. He didn't say anything or point anywhere. Y/n cursed him and herself.
Not knowing what else to do Y/n began to search through the lab to see if she could find anything that could help them. Y/n noticed a random bookshelf along the wall. What were the chances that could be a secret door?
Y/n walked over to the shelf. With all of her knowledge from cliché movies, Y/n began to pull on random books. Every time one didn't work she would throw it backward.
Finally, Y/n pulled on a book about ants. She heard a noise and the bookshelf moved backward. She mentally high-fived herself. Y/n looked over to Peter "Stay there." She told him. She figured he probably wouldn't have moved anyway.
Y/n walked down a flight of stairs and pushed open another door. When she opened the door her jaw nearly fell slack. It was a lab but 100x nicer. It felt like something out of a movie.
There were huge screens and holograms. There were long desks with pieces of different robots on them. Y/n figured this is where Tony and Bruce did their work.
There was a big cabinet labeled spider-boy. She tried to open the cabinet but it was locked. She tried again but ultimately failed. Y/n grabbed one of the screwdrivers off of the table and stuck it in the lock. She balled up her fist at the end and hit her palm against her fist. The lock gave Y/n a shock "Fuck."
The cabinet swung open revealing tons of different equipment. There was a bag at the bottom that Y/n assumed was Peters. She grabbed the bag and began to shove everything that could fit. She grabbed web fluid, web-shooters and she might have even grabbed one of his suits.
Y/n zipped up the bag a knife caught her eye on the other side of the room. She walked over to the knife. It was black with a few gold lines running through the middle. Y/n picked up then knife and a screen popped up.
A video began to play with a shaken up Tony Stark "Anyone who watches this SOS. You are in danger meet—."
The video paused and a voice interrupted "Vehicle approaching. Click to watch surveillance footage."
Y/n clicked on the button a video popped up of several SUVs pulling onto the road leading to the compound. Y/n was confused. Why would this pop-up? She looked at the corner for the date. The footage was live. She swore she felt her heart leap out of her chest.
Y/n tucked the knife in her pocket and booked it up the stairs. Peter was still where she left him and she ran over to him. "We need to go." He stared at the wall
"Peter we need to go like right now." He still didn't make a move.
Y/n decided to say fuck it and take matters into her own hand. If he didn't want to move she would make him. Y/n took a deep breath and slapped Peter as hard as she could. "Get it together."
Peter's hand flew to his cheek and he glared at her "Ow! That hurt." Peter shrieked.
"Good. We need to leave. They already found us again."
"Tony told me about a few safe houses just in case something ever did happen."
"Good enough for me." Y/n took the bag off her bag and shoved it into Peter's hands. What was he good for if not super strength.
They ran down the stairs, sometimes skipping two or three at a time. They ran through the door and to the car. Right as they got 10 feet within the car it exploded and caused them to fly backward.
"Son of a bitch." Y/n exclaimed. Her ears were ringing from the loud noise.
"That was our only ride out." Peter groaned. He was sure they were going to die. He figured he had a good enough run. He was surprised he lasted this long anyway.
"Maybe not."
Peter followed Y/n's line of sight to a motorcycle "Are you crazy?" There was no way in hell he was getting on that. He rather take his chances with the SWAT team.
Y/n gave Peter a look. One that over the few times he's meet her he's grown to know almost too well. She was going to do something risky, stupid, but not necessarily unnecessary.
Y/n gave Peter a wave before she broke into a full sprint toward the bike. She was going to get herself killed. Peter clenched his fists before running after her.
Shots began flying toward them and Y/n hopped on the bike. Peter got on the bag, she quickly started the bike and pulled off before he got the chance to argue.
After 30 minutes of riding in a random direction into the woods, Y/n pulled over. Peter unwrapped his arms from around her waist and got off the bike.
Peter walked over to a tree, bent over, and threw up. Y/n grimaced and quickly looked away. He may be strong but his stomach surely isn't. Of course, she didn't say that she figured he was occupied enough for the moment.
When Peter was done he walked over to Y/n and threw his hands up in the air "What in the actual fuck. You could've gotten us killed."
Y/n had to suppress the urge to laugh. She noticed whenever Peter got mad his face scrunched up and got red. "I just saved your ass. You surely could have stayed back there and tango with the death squad."
"Jesus Y/n. Do you even know how to drive a motorcycle?" Peter shouted.
"Well actually no." He had gotten her there "My fight or flight had kicked in and that's good enough for me." She put her hands on her hips.
Peter let out a long sigh. She was crazy. Actually fucking batshit crazy. "We need to get to a safe house, and figure out a plan."
Well isn't he just a bright one? "Well, Mr. Parker be my guest." She pointed to the bike "Unless you're too scared." She challenged.
"I'm not scared." Okay so maybe he was a little scared but he wasn't going to tell Y/n that. He walked over to the motorcycle and swung his leg around. It was just like riding a Bike. Right?
Y/n swung her leg around the back of the bike and sat behind Peter. She wrapped her arms around his waist "How Are We going to get there? Does your Spidey sense show you the path to follow?" She teased.
"It doesn't work like that." He grumbled as he pulled off.
They drove for what felt like hours. Y/n was pretty sure she dozen off a few times from the lack of scenery. Her arms were starting to ache and her but were starting to get sore from driving on the gravel road.
Finally, they pulled in front of a big cabin. It was huge, it looked like a place someone would go to get away for a weekend. The cabin was surrounded by trees and behind it was a lake.
Peter turned off the bike and they both got off. They walk up the stairs to the porch. Peter punched in a few numbers. There was a camera above the door. Peter walked through the door. A voice came through a speaker "Welcome, Peter Parker."
When Y/n tried to walk through the door the voice came through again "Unauthorized personal."
Y/n looked over to Peter. He had a clueless look on his face and he shrugged. Not knowing what else to do Y/n looked at the camera "Y/n Y/l/n."
"Access granted. Welcome, Y/n Y/l/n."
Y/n walked through the door "I wasn't sure that it would work." Peter laughed.
Y/n looked at Peter and narrowed her eyes "We came all the way out here when you weren't even sure if I could get into the damn safe house."
"I took a calculated risk." Peter crossed his arms.
"Oh so when you take a chance it's a calculated risk but when I do it's stupid and reckless."
"Before I take a risk I weigh all my options but when you do it's always spontaneous and mindless."
"Well, my spontaneous decisions saved your ass more times than I can count."
"Can you stop swearing for like 2 seconds?"
"Oh, I'm sorry Peter. Does my fucking swearing bother you?" Y/n seethed.
"I can't with you." Peter sighed pinching the bridge of his nose "I'm going to take a shower there should be some clothes for you in one of the rooms." He walked upstairs and out of view.
Y/n let out a long breath of air. Peter was such a stick in the mud. "Can you stop swearing?" She whispered to herself in a mock voice. God, he really did manage to get on her nerves.
Y/n finally took a chance to look around the cabin. If she could even call it that. It was nicer inside than it looked to be outside. It's looked like a normal modern house with the exception it had the Stark touch.
Y/n walked upstairs and entered one of the random rooms. It had a queen bed and a nightstand. The closet was huge and full of different clothes and shoes. She found a pair of open-fingered gloves. If she had to guess she'd say this was the scarlet witch's room.
Y/n suddenly felt dirty and decide that she needed to take a shower. She grabbed a pair of shorts and a shirt she thought could maybe fit. She walked into the bathroom and turned on the shower, she hoped Peter didn't use all of the hot water.
She peeled off her clothes and stepped into the shower. She lets the warm water run down her back. It did wonders for her sore muscles. She quickly scrubbed the rest of her body and turned off the shower.
Y/n dried off and got dressed. She stepped back into the room. She saw Wanda's bed. It looked more comfortable than it did before. It was basically calling her name. Y/n decided to say fuck it and hop in the bed. She decided whoever was trying to kill them could wait for tomorrow.

Communication Breakdown
Tumblr media
Summary: Friends make life much sweeter. That is, until you realize that you've accidentally fallen in love with your only friend. But that's not a problem. The reader can just keep pretending that she has absolutely no romantic feelings for Bucky whatsoever... right???
Pairings: Bucky Barnes x fem! enhanced! Reader
(Reader sees bits of the future, understands all languages, and processes information abnormally quickly)
Warning: Angst, fluff, strong language, and truly terrible communication between two grown adults who should really know better
Author's note: As per usual, the reader is unnamed so that this can be read as a self-insert if that's your jam, but when I'm writing this particular character, I call her Violet.
*************************************************
They day starts out the way most days do. There’s the normal ding of her phone at seven a.m. signaling that she’s received another “Good morning” text from Barnes (six months, and he’s yet to miss a day). As usual, she sends back her own “Good morning” and they exchange a few well wishes for the day ahead. Only this time, a pang goes through her heart as she turns the phone to silent and places it in the drawer of her desk in preparation for her first class. Pushing it to the side, she greets her students and starts in on her lecture about verb tenses.
She’s almost forgotten her momentary lapse in feelings when her phone rings at twelve. Time for their daily lunchtime phone call. There’s nothing out of the ordinary about the words they exchange. He’s doing laundry today, does she want him to stop by and pick up hers as well? Yes, thanks, that’ll save her some time since she has a mountain of papers to grade. Does she need to reschedule tonight’s dinner? He doesn’t mind if she does. No, she has time. Can she bring anything? No, just herself. Then a joke about how hasn’t she heard that one somewhere before. She almost slips up and tacks an “I love you” onto the goodbye, but remembers just in time. That’s not a thing friends say to each other (or at least, not in this friendship). Of course, friends also don’t spend far too much time imagining what the other person’s lips would feel like against theirs and their skin doesn’t tingle like theyve received an electric shock every time they so much as brush hands.
“You got a boyfriend, teacher?” One of her students ask teasingly as she puts her phone away.
“No, nothing like that. Just my friend.”
Her afternoon is a blur (the only part that stands out is when one of her students is asked to form a sentence in the present tense, and his example is, “I am asking teacher to marry me.”; it was a joke, and she responded with, “Teacher is flattered, but she is saying no.”), and by the time she’s on the bus back home, a backpack full of papers in the seat beside her, all she wants to do is sleep. Of course, then her phone dings with, “Be at yours in thirty.” and she finds she has a little more energy.
It’s unhealthy, a sign that she doesn’t know when to quit, but as usual, she begins to pretty herself up a bit before he arrives. She should just stop. They’re friends. Bucky is her friend. All he will ever see her as is a friend. What does it matter how she looks? Frustrated, she throws her hair up in a ponytail (she wasn’t succeeding in getting it to lay right anyway) and pulls on an old flannel with several holes in it over her shirt. There. She’s got this completely in control.
She’s just finished washing the makeup from her face when, right on time, a knocking comes from her front door. It’s just a formality at this point; he has a key. Speaking of… she shoves a pair of socks that got mixed up in her laundry last time she did both of theirs in one go into her pocket and goes to answer.
 “Hey.”
As per usual, they share a hug, and a part of her whispers that hugs between friends don’t last this long. She knows it’s foolishness, though. She hasn’t had a friend in years, so she’s remembering things wrong more than likely. He doesn’t get much interraction outside of her, not much touch, so that’s why he doesn’t let go. That, or he doesn’t want to hurt her feelings by pulling away.
Eventually it does end, and she can feel that her cheeks are warm.
 “Hey, Doll. Ready to go?”
She swallows hard. It’s a sweet nickname, one that from what she’s read, was a common way to address females you’re familiar with back in the days before he went in the ice.
“Sure.” She pastes a smile on her face and closes the door behind her.
They’re in the elevator before he speaks again.
“That shirt-” His fingertips brush the skin on her wrist as he examines the cuff. “-it looks kinda familiar.” Her mind has gone all fuzzy, but it’s still clear enough that sudden realization dawns on her; it’s actually his. A loaner from months ago when it was colder than she had expected by the time she got around to leaving his apartment far later than she really should have. She can’t believe she never got around to returning it.
“Shit. Sorry, Buck. I’ll wash it and get it back to you.”
Yet another reason why he would never be interested in her. She’s absentminded. Seeing bits and pieces of the future leaves her so scattered that she forgets what she’s supposed to be doing in the present. In fact, for the first month or so after they really started to become friends, it was a constant struggle; her asking him about something she could’ve sworn he told her, only to find out it had yet to occur, or worse, it had happened but he sure as hell hadn’t mentioned it. These days, whenever she makes a mistake with her timing, he just responds with a joking, “You’re ahead of the game again.” She’s lucky to have him as a friend.
“Nah, don’t worry about it.” The doors squeak open as they reach the ground floor. “Looks better on you anyway.”
God, she wishes he’d stop saying things like that, stop being so kind. It only serves to make things get even more tangled in her mind. She needs a distraction. Now.
 “So, what’s tonight’s plan?”
 He chuckles.
“If I tell you, it’ll ruin the surprise.” She doesn’t even bother to supress a groan at that.
“I think I have enough surprises in my life already.”
“Funny thing to say for a girl who sees the future.” Not like she can argue with that. “Just trust me. You’ll like it.”
She does trust him, and that’s part of the problem. It’s been a long time since she’s had anyone in her life that she can honestly say she relies on.  She needs to stay in control, or else she’ll lose him like she’s lost everyone else.
___________________________________________________________________________________
She’s oddly quiet tonight, reserved. Maybe even a little sad. Bucky shakes his head, silently chiding himself. He’s imagining things. If something had happened, she’d tell him. She’s probably just tired. It’s the middle of the working week after all, and she’s having to do one of her least favorite tasks as a teacher: prepare exams. She’s told him many times how much she hates it because, “I don’t feel like it’s an accurate gauge of how much they’re really learning. Lots of people do poorly on tests because they get nervous but do well in class discussions and on the homework. It shouldn’t count for so much of their grades, but I have to stick to the rules.” It’s yet another reason he loves her, even if he hasn’t said as much.
As they stop by different street vendors, collecting what they need for the night ahead (which he still isn’t one hundred percent certain will be a success, but after copious amounts of internet research, it was the only thing he could come up with that would fit  the current bounds of both budget and time), he asks about her day. Usually she gives an animated account of everything that happened, but this time, she just sticks to the basics. Even when she shares that a student teasingly proposed to her, the smile on her face seems hollow, unreal. Okay, maybe he’s not imagining things.
When they’re a block away from their destination, he stops and turns to her.
“Close your eyes.” Her response is a frown.
“I think I’ve heard this one before, and I’m not falling for it.”
“Come on.” Nope. Still nothing. Time to pull out the big guns. “What was that about trusting me?” It’s a guilt trip, and he hates to do it, but it’ll be worth it.
“Fine.” She groans, and her eyelids lower. “But if you’re about to put a spider on me, I’ll smack you. I don’t care that it’ll probably break my hand.”
 He snickers.
 “No spiders involved. Promise.”
It’s not the first time he’s held her hand, but as he covers her smaller one with his, a rush of warmth travels from his fingertips up his arm. It’s so hypnotizing that he almost forgets he’s supposed to be leading her. Almost, but not quite.
 “This way.”
 “Don’t let me fall.”
 “I won’t.”
If anyone notices that there’s a woman with her eyes closed being led around by a man in a baseball cap and sunglasses even though the sun is setting, they don’t show it, and it’s a relatively peaceful walk into the park. Now, he remembers there being a bench… there. Great. And the lake is completely theirs. No other people around.
 “You can open them now.”
The look of cynicism melts from her face as her eyes open and she takes in the scenery surrounding them. In a bustling city, they’re in one of the few places that is completely green. More than that, there’s-
“Ducks!” She laughs, and he can’t help but chuckle at her enthusiasm. “In the middle of the city! Wild ducks!” Looks like his gamble paid off. “How did you-”
“I didn’t know for sure.” And in truth, he felt a little silly googling ‘parks in Bucharest with wildlife’. “But there was a web page that mentioned wild ducks tend to populate lakes, swamps, and rivers even here, so I took a shot that, maybe since there’s a lake here, there’d be a few.”
“Is that what this is about?” She taps the loaf of bread they aquired on the way over.
“No, that’s actually part of dinner. This-” He hates to do it, but he has to let go of her hand to dig in his pocket, finally producing a bag of oats. “-is for the ducks.”
She smirks. “You’ve done your research.”
 “Be prepared.”
“Alright, boy scout.” Even as she says it, she’s staring out at the water.
“I know it’s not ‘catching a mouse in your apartment’ different, but-” The corners of her lips quirk up at the memory. “-I thought it might be a nice change from sitting around watching movies.”
“Thank you.” Even though it’s getting chillier with the sun going down, that smile more than makes up for the lack of warmth. “You didn’t have to do all this-”
“No, but I wanted to. Thought it might make you smile.” That’s apparently the wrong thing to say, because she freezes, and that smile melts into a frown. “Everything okay?”
She starts to nod, but then stops short.
“Bucky, I can’t keep doing this. I’m sorry.”
Without any other explanation, she’s off, heading back in the direction from which they came. And, like that first day all those months ago, he chases after her.
___________________________________________________________________________________
“Hey! Slow down!” Ten seconds. He must not’ve had his Wheaties this morning if it’s taken him this long to catch up with her. Still, just this once, couldn’t Barnes not follow her? Take it easy on a girl for a change? That’s the whole point of running away, after all. To put some distance between yourself and whatever it is you’re running from.
She keeps moving, walking fast, but he’s right on top of her.
“When are you gonna stop running away from me?”
“Depends. When are you gonna stop chasing me?”
“I’m not. Thought that was understood.” He takes her hand (when did they start doing that? Most friends don’t… then again, what does she know about friendship) and she has no choice but to turn around and look at him.
 “Talk to me.”
She can’t. If she starts, she knows those tears she’s keeping at bay will spill over.
“Alright.” Dropping her hand, he crosses his arms. “I’ll wait, but it’s starting to get dark, so I’d appreciate it if we could do this sooner rather than later.” Dammit.
“I just can’t do it anymore.” Deep breath in. Deep breath out. No tears. “You’ve been nothing but kind to me. You’ve never lead me on or acted like anything other than a friend, so please don’t think you’re the problem.”
“Problem? Doll, what-” She pushes ahead, ignoring his confusion.
“The problem is me. Somewhere along the way, I got my wires crossed.” Deep breath in. Deep breath out. Now keep going. “You’re a good man, Bucky Barnes. And a-” Her cheeks are on fire. “-a good-looking one too. Anyone would be lucky to have you. And selfishly, I started wishing that “anyone” was me. I didn’t mean to, but I fell in love with you.” She has to finish it, or else she’ll regret it. “I just can’t keep going like this. It hurts too damn much. I’m sorry. I need to not see you for a while, and I get it if you never want to talk to me again.” It’s no use. The tears fall, and she starts walking again.
“When the hell did I say any of that?”
She can’t stop. She can’t do this. Not now.
“Will you stop running away from me? Just for five minutes?”
He hasn’t touched her, but it doesn’t matter. She freezes in place, just as if he’d grabbed hold of her and held her there.
“Please, just this once, let me walk away.” Can’t he spare her that one last dignity?
“You wanna walk away? Go ahead. But like I said, I’m not gonna stop chasing after you. Not until you hear me out.”
He’s in front of her now. There’s no way of hiding that she’s full-on crying, so instead she shuts her eyes so she won’t have to see his face.
“Dammit.” She couldn’t have said it better herself. “None of what you just said made any sense. You want us to stop seeing each other because… you’re interested in me. Have I got that part right?” She nods, still keeping her eyes closed. “That’s what I thought. See, the part I’m a little confused about is, why would that be a problem?” She opens her mouth to explain it all over again. “I thought it was pretty clear I’ve been trying to date you for the past six months.” What? She’s never been more befuddled in her whole life. It’s enough that she has to open her eyes. “Not as clear as I thought, obviously.”
He’s scratching the back of his neck, something she’s realized over time is a nervous habit.
“This is my fault. I should’ve come out and said something, but I didn’t want to make you uncomfortable or…” He clears his throat. “...well, sound dumb if I’m being honest. Granted it’s been a while since I’ve done this, but seeing each other pretty much whenever either person has free time, eating together and watching movies, phone calls…” He trails off. “...I thought that was dating.”
 Oh.
“So, all this time-” She starts.
“Looks like it. Sorry.” He grimaces. “Not that I wouldn’t want to be your friend, if that’s all you wanted. I mean, you’re a great person and I like you in more than just THAT way. I just sort of assumed.”
She can’t help it. A laugh slips out.
“God. This would’ve been a hell of a thing to have a vision about.” Good. He’s smiling. At least they’re starting to recover.
“I thought for sure you must’ve; something at least, with all you see me doing before I do it.” Sometimes, she really hates her powers and how selective they can be. “Figured it was just one of those things you don’t talk about but you both know. Pretty dumb, in hindsight.”
“No…” She reaches out to grasp his arm, but stops short. “...I can see why you’d assume-”
“You too, now that I think about it.” He chuckles. “This is a nice mess, huh?”
“One of my best, I think.” Honestly, she could’ve avoided all this trouble if she had taken a cue from third graders and passed him a note that said, “Do you like me? Check yes or no.”
“Can we start over? Maybe have a redo with less assuming and more actually saying things?”
She nods, a genuine smile on her face.
 “I’d like that.”
“Okay.” Clearing his throat, he sticks out his hand. “Hi, I’m Bucky. I’m the man who’s been falling in love with you for the past six months, and if it’s alright, I’d like to be your boyfriend. Or, whatever the term is these days.”
“Pleased to meet you.” She’s struggling not to laugh as she shakes his hand. “That term’s kind of cringey, but I think it’s still in use. And if it’s alright with you, it’s alright with me.”
It’s been long enough; she really should let go of his hand, but she can’t bring herself to. He seems to be having the same problem, so instead, he takes a step closer, and she does the same in response.
“I have one more question, and I’ve been meaning to ask it for a while.”
They’re chest to chest now. She can almost feel it every time he takes a breath.
 “Shoot.”
 “Can I kiss you?”
This must be what people mean when they refer to getting butterflies.
 “You’d better.”
It’s not her first kiss, and if she had to bet, it’s probably not his either, but it’s unlike anything she’s felt before, making everything else pale by comparrison. They may have gotten off to a rough start, but at least for now, they’ve ironed it out. Oh, and he loves her too. That’s also good.

2. For the first time in a decade, Tony has a sex tape leak. This one was filmed without his knowledge. As awful as it is having a non-consensual sex tape of oneself go viral, Tony never really cared whether the internet saw the full monty before—until now. This time he definitely cares. Because this time, the guy in the video with Tony—well, he looks undeniably like Tony’s 18-yo mentee. How do people react? What does the media do with the story? And most importantly, how does Peter react?
ahhh this was such a good prompt and it instantly caught my attention and inspired me!! sorry it’s a little longer than I initially planned for just random prompt fills but I had a lot of feelings~
tags: starker, mature, angst with a happy ending
The image quality is a little blurry, not quite in focus, but the bodies are clear enough, Tony’s fucking face clear enough as he stares at the man above him, runs his hands over toned skin and down to grip at the man’s ass, pull him to sink down onto him. The audio quality is great, though, picks up the man’s breathy sigh and the groan that gets punched out of Tony as he bottoms out, the slap of skin on skin as the man starts riding him, thin, lithe body twisting and grinding, the sound of Tony murmuring “that’s it, kid, yeah, just like that”, the little sigh the man makes when Tony reaches up to run a hand through chestnut curls and tug, and—
The video pauses, Tony pulling the man’s head back, exposing his undeniably younger face, toned body arching over Tony’s more solid one, the moment frozen in time as Pepper’s picture appears over the holoscreen image.
Tony picks up even though he doesn’t want to, wincing in anticipation.
“At least tell me he’s legal, Tony.”
She sounds more angry than he’d expected, though if she thinks she has to ask whether the man was legal Tony supposes it’s a reasonable anger.
“Christ, Pep, no—I mean—fuck, of course he’s legal.”
He hears her exhale of relief.
“You couldn’t have given PR even the slightest heads up? I know it’s been awhile, but you used to have a protocol for this, Tony.”
Tony winces—at the reprimand, at the reminder of a past when he’d had so many escapades that he’d tell some poor sap in the marketing department when he’d let someone film or take pictures of him in bed so they could be prepared for damage control, at the reminder that that protocol had fallen by the wayside long ago, when he’d first gotten together with Pepper (he hoped the poor marketing sap still had a job, just a better one), and, even worse, at the reminder that despite that, here he was back again, in his fifties with a sex tape leak.
“I didn’t know.” His voice is barely a croak, but he knows that Pepper hears him, even if she follows it up by repeating him incredulously.
“You didn’t know? You—Tony Stark—didn’t realize you were being filmed? What the hell happened, Tony? You used to be careful about this.”
“I know, Pepper, I—” he trails off, instinctively turning for where the bar used to be and then clenching his fist when he’s reminded of the fact he hasn’t had a drink in years. He takes a deep breath, hopes it’ll steady him, tries not to be disappointed when it doesn’t. “How bad did I fuck up, Pep?”
He hears her sigh, hears the shift in her from Pepper Potts, CEO of Stark Industries, to Pepper Potts, his ex-wife, one of his best friends, in spite of it all.
“With the company? It won’t be too bad. We’re past the days when the stock rose and fell on your latest news story, and you’ve got a long track record of being able to perform no matter how much of a shitshow your personal life is. With the media? Not great—you know how they love a breakdown story, and you didn’t do yourself any favors with how young he looks. But it’ll pass as soon as the next scandal comes along, probably sometime in the next forty-eight hours.”
Tony waits for the tightness in his chest to release somewhat, but it doesn’t.
Pepper hesitates and he thinks she’s going to hang up, but then she says, “With… him?” And Tony freezes, because he knows who she means, and it’s not the man in the video, and he hadn’t thought she’d know, hadn’t thought anyone knew, that was kind of the whole point of the man in the video, but he supposes that it’s not subtle to anyone who really knows him, not after this leak at least. “I… I don’t know, Tony. I really don’t know.”
The tightness in his chest is now a death grip, and he chokes out a “Thanks, Pep,” before he hangs up the call with a swipe of his hand and collapses back against his worktable. He finds his way over to a back corner, where his old car collection still sits, desperate to get his hands in the guts of his ’32 Ford Flathead Roadster, something old and finicky that he can get lost in for days, until all of this blows over and he can work on getting his life set back to rights. He’s only barely gotten his hands on the engine when he hears the sound of the doors to the lab opening and closing behind someone. He drops the wrench, which lands on a piece of the engine with an accusing clang, because the list of people with automatic access to his lab is short and—at this particular moment—terrifying.
He turns around with his heart already halfway in his throat, because those footsteps are familiar, and he’s greeted by the sight of the one person he’d been most hoping not to see right now. Peter Parker is standing in his lab, at 2 in the morning, peeling off the Spider-Man suit because of course the kid webbed over here, and—fuck, with dark circles and eyes red at the corners as if he’s been crying, and he looks nearly as bad as Tony must look. Tony tries to speak—he does, he really does—tries to say something comforting, or mentor-like, or even just honest, but it catches in his throat and twists and boils and all that comes out is a fucking joke.
“Come to deliver my mentor of the year award?”
Peter makes a strangled noise, and Tony flinches at just how abysmally he’s managed to handle this.
“Fuck, kid, I’m sorry—” he starts, but Peter makes a high-pitched noise that’s somewhere between a laugh and a sob and Tony suddenly wishes he had the wrench back in his hand, because hitting himself with it as hard as he could would have been less painful than hearing Peter make that sound.
“You—y’ called him kid.”
Guilt rips through Tony so fiercely that he actually staggers back to lean against the car, quietly cursing. “Fuck, Peter, I’m sorry, he—I promise, he wasn’t a kid, he was young but he was an adult, he was a consenting adult who was free to do what he wanted, I—”
“And I’m not?” Peter’s cut him off, voice suddenly raised, and in it Tony can hear anger and pain and he it looks like Peter’s fighting back tears, and Tony wants desperately to know what to do, but all he says is “what?”, dumbly confused.
“He—so he’s young but he can be an adult and make his own choices but I’m just a kid, —‘m always just some kid,” Peter says, but Tony finally notices that Peter’s slurring his words slightly, and when he’s done talking he tries to take an angry step towards Tony but ends up swaying, needs to reach out and grab onto a workstation.
“Peter, are you… drunk?” Tony doesn’t bother to conceal the horror in his voice, not because Peter’s drinking—because sure he’s not 21, but no one waits until they’re 21 to start drinking, and Peter deserves as much normalcy as he can possibly get—but because this is Tony’s fault, he’s not drinking for fun with his friends, but Tony’s somehow driven Peter to get drunk, to drown himself in alcohol, and fuck he’s making all of the mistakes he’d never wanted to.
“So what if I am?” Peter says, “ ’s not like you care.”
“Christ, Pete, of course I—I always care, but—shit, how much did you even drink to get drunk, with your metabolism?”
Peter shrugs. “Dunno. Stopped counting. Doesn’t last long, anyway, but I just needed to—just needed to be drunk to come here and say—and say—” Peter slumps forward, as if all of the anger has been drained out of him.
Tony takes a tentative step forward, afraid that Peter’s drinking is actually catching up, suddenly terrified of what could be happening.
“Say what, Peter?” Tony asks gently, taking another step forward, but then Peter looks up and there are tears on his face.
“I don’t—I don’t know, I just—I don’t know if I can do this anymore, Mr. Stark.”
Tony’s stomach drops, to the floor, through the floor, through the center of the goddamn earth, because he has apparently messed this one up badly, terribly badly, and Tony would trade every dollar he has to make this up to Peter, but that’s not how this works, and he wishes he could say the right thing, but he’s Tony Stark, and so even though as he takes a step towards Peter he realizes his own hands are shaking, all that he can say is, “Peter? Pete?”
Peter doesn’t seem to notice or care about his slow approach, just wipes at his eyes with the back of his hands and keeps talking.
“It’s stupid, but I just… I saw it and I told myself not to watch it, but then of course I did, because I’m stupid, and then I got jealous, and that felt even stupider so I started trying to get drunk, and it didn’t really work and all it did was make me realize that I—I mean, the way things were was fine, I could tell myself at first that you had Pepper, and then after that that you didn’t like men like that, or that you would never look at someone as young as me like that, but then there was that guy and—I just—I guess it’s just that’s that it’s me, that’s what I realized, that it’s not my age or my gender, it’s just me that you’ll never see that way, and it’s one thing to be half in love with someone and spend all your time with them when you know you can’t ever have them, and it’s another thing to—to—it just feels like rejection? Even though it’s not?”
Peter pauses to draw in a shaky breath, suppressing a sob, and Tony is aware that he’s trembling now. “Peter, Pete—what are you saying, Pete?” he whispers, mind stuck somewhere between overdrive and frozen, like a part that’s gotten jammed, trying desperately to whir through his thoughts but somehow just—stuck.
“I don’t—you’re right, Mr. Stark, I’m drunk, I’m not—I probably won’t quit in the morning or anything, I couldn’t—but I just—this was dumb, I should just—”
And Peter’s turning away, and heading for the lab doors, and Tony’s desperately trying to send the signals from his brain to his limbs to go after him, to take just one fucking step forward, but it’s not working, and all he can do is yell after him.
“Pete, wait, please!”
But Peter’s not stopping, just says, “It’s okay Mr. Stark, it was a mistake to come here, I’m really sorry, maybe we can just—pretend this didn’t happen, okay?”
And he’s almost at the door and Tony’s finally started to move, but not nearly fast enough, so he says, “FRIDAY, lock the doors!” And he knows his voice sounds a little throaty, a little desperate, but it works, because he hears the smooth click of the lab door sealing shut, sees Peter reach it and push uselessly before turning back around.
“C’mon Mr. Stark, seriously, I don’t wanna—just, please?”
“Pete—you were… jealous?”
And maybe it’s not the best place to start, but it’s the thing that Tony’s brain is stuck on, because it feels so laughable—that Peter could ever be jealous of someone who was only ever meant to be a cheap imitation of Peter. Peter just turns away, trying to hide his face again.
“Mr. Stark, I don’t wanna—I already said I was, I don’t wanna talk about it.”
Tony’s close enough to touch him now, rocks forward as if he might and then thinks better of it, his brain trying to catch up. “Pete, I—I just—god, we were both supposed to be smarter than this. I mean—you honestly think it was a coincidence he looked like that?”
At this, Peter starts to turn around, eyes wide with a mix of confusion and hope, but Tony just keeps going.
“You don’t think every time I called him kid it was because I was picturing you? Shit, I’m sorry, but—you don’t know how hard it was not to give in and call him Peter.”
“Mr. Stark, what are you—are you saying—”
“Stop me if I’m—if you don’t want—” Tony murmurs, closing the distance between them to lean close and press his lips against Peter’s, so gently, tentative, a question. There’s a long moment, and just when Tony’s starting to pull away, resigned to his error, Peter answers, leans forward and wraps a hand around the back of Tony’s neck, pulls him close and opens his mouth in a shuddering gasp, kisses Tony back like he wants to drown in it, and Tony meets him with everything he’s got, finally wraps a hand in those perfect curls, drinks in the soft gasps from Peter until he’s weak in the knees and has to pull away to draw in great gulps of air.
“Mr. Stark?” Peter whispers against his neck, where he’s pressed himself tight to Tony, wrapped in a hug like he’s as afraid of this moment dissipating as Tony is.
“Come to bed, Pete,” Tony says into the top of Peter’s head, feels him nod. And as FRIDAY unlocks the lab and they walk, intertwined, constantly touching, towards Tony’s bedroom, Tony’s mind is for once quiet, content in the knowledge that in a few minutes he can tuck Peter into bed beside him, for now just hold him while they sleep, and in the morning—everything will be better.

Small No-things | Tom x Haz one-shot
Pairing: Harrison Osterfield x Tom Holland
Word count: 2.8k words
Warnings: I am leaving this fic open-ended, Fluff and angst sprinkled here and there
Summary: Tom was bothered for not putting in as much efforts as Harrison into their friendship. But when Harrison reminds him of how he's all for him by being his assistant on the set of Spider-man Homecoming, Tom realises he wanted even more from his best-friend.
A/N: Hope this ends my writer slump.
Tumblr media
Tom didn't like lying, however, he did lie a lot. In his defence— he just happens to struggle with expressing his feelings because how does anyone do that shit without feeling as vulnerable as a tortoise devoid of its shell?
"Tom, love, are you feeling well?" His mum asked from the other side of the phone.
"Very," He told her, smiling lightly though the words which may seem strange as she cannot see him. But the smile was not for her in the first place, it was for him. He liked telling himself that he was fine and it was almost working.
He hung up when the conversation got too forced, wishing her good night. And as soon as the beeping of the disconnecting tone fell into his ears, he kept the phone down and shoved the plastic wall aside, almost taking Harrison by surprise.
Harrison and Tom were sitting (half-lying down) in the luxury area of an already luxurious London to Atlanta flight. The interior was greyish and the furniture was brownish with cream-coloured curtains. Both of them were sitting beside each other but a removable opaque plastic wall standing between was separating them, which Tom just removed (sixth time in the seven hours, considering they didn't even set it up in the first three hours of the flight).
"Jesus, Tom! Learn to knock!" Harrison jolted, keeping a hand over his heart.
"Sorry!" Tom uttered, not feeling it though (Harrison was a drama queen anyway), "Just a matter of two hours." He gritted his teeth in excitement and nervousness (at least, he wasn't jumping on his seat).
Harrison chuckled, putting down the magazine he was holding. He kept his elbow on the make-shift table, squeezing his legs in his seat and leaning towards the brunette.
"I know. Exciting isn't it?" He said softly, looking up at the ceiling.
"And terrifying," Tom added quickly.
Harrison chuckled, again.
"It's going to be fine..." The blonde produced a full mouth yawn at the end part, removing his glasses and tossing them over the magazine.
Sleepyhead. Seeing that Tom turned the lamp off, sinking into his own seat, shutting his tired eyes.
He knows it's going to be fine. It... It's just that it doesn't feel fine. How does he even explain this?
...
"We can eat a burger. If it will make you feel better..." Harrison offered as the two boys dragged their luggage trolley across the airport.
Definitely, a burger can't make him feel better.
"I said I am fine," Tom repeated, sounding almost frustrated. Because wasn't this the thirteenth time, Harrison was asking him this question?
"You don't look fine though..." He defended in a soft voice.
But it just added to Tom's bubbling irritation.
First, the man who was supposed to pick them up at the airport hasn't arrived yet. Second, that person was telling him how he was just a few miles away for the last two hours and now he wasn't even picking up the call (if things couldn't get any worse). Third, Tom's feet were aching. Fourth, he wanted to sleep in a comfortable bed. Fifth, he didn't like people trying to pursue him into changing his mind and Harrison was doing exactly the same.
"Okay... But can you eat for me? I am really starving."
Tom stopped at his friend's words, leaving the trolley as his hands rest over his hips.
"Mate you got a completely different abdomen. You can eat for yourself!"
"Please..." Harrison did his stupid little pout, making Tom roll his eyes but it was all for vain. He knew well that his friend won't take no for an answer.
With a final huff, Tom relaxed his tensed shoulders, giving in.
"OK."
Soon, he found himself sitting at the counter of an open Burger joint inside the airport itself as he watched Harrison eat.
"Now why are you stealing my chips?"
Well, he wasn't just watching...
"Doesn't your stomach fill up when I eat?" Tom mocked, throwing another finger chip into his mouth and licking the salt off his fingertip.
"And I thought, my best mate wasn't any regular creep..." Harrison produced a gagging noise but then instantly stuffed his mouth with a big bite of the burger.
"Yeah, he is a PhD scholar." Tom rolled his eyes again, chewing on the chip.
That made Harrison laugh. He tried shutting his mouth tight, pressing a hand over his lips as his cheeks swelled, struggling to stop the food from falling out of his mouth.
Tom failed to contain his own grin that split his face. He joined Harrison in the meal as his own order arrived. He watched his phone ring off and away. For once he didn't care about reaching the hotel any earlier. They were fine here. He felt fine here. Didn't he?
...
"Whoa, this is huge!" Harrison dropped the bag on the floor with a thud, instantly rushing to take a look at the bathroom. He checked the other room and then the spare bathroom... Then the kitchen, the balcony and then rushed back to the living room which also served as the outer, larger bedroom, where Tom was still standing unmoved, arms folded across his chest.
"It's huge..." He repeated, letting the adjective trail off his lips.
Tom opened his mouth to say something but Harrison was quick to cut him off—
"Which room should I take? The inner one or the outer one?"
The brunette scrubbed a hand down his face, "The inner one because I seriously don't want your hundreds of shoe pairs invading our living area."
Harrison's brows quirked, "How-how do you know?"
"You posted it on Twitter." Tom shrugged.
"You don't even use Twitter!"
"Yes, and your fans did repost the video on Instagram tagging me."
"Well, then they are your fans. Traitors!" This time Harrison had his hands folded across his chest, dramatically swaying his head to the other side.
There was a pause.
"... Did you actually bring them all?" An amused smile formed on the corner of Tom's face as Harrison licked his lips.
Unnecessary drama... If it was something, the boys would have called it their personal quirk.
"All for you..." Harrison replied, smirking, maintaining the eye-contact with the other boy.
But it was too fatal. He gave up.
"Actually, no I didn't." He rolled his eyes this time.
The victorious smile reached Tom's ears but he was too tired to care. He could kill to sleep on that soft bed. So, he jumped up on the mattress, discarding his shoes and pressing his face against the silky fabric of the pillow.
"I am taking the outer room anyway." His voice came out muffled, not that it was unintelligible.
"Twat." Harrison whispered, twisting his mouth. He was anyway going to invade Tom's space and Tom knew it.
...
Tom won't call himself sad or melancholic. It was just that Harrison had so many... friends.
He had always been great at maintaining relationships even with the people he met in Year Five. But Tom really only had Harrison, despite all the enormous extra amount of people he knew because of Billy Eliot or The Impossible and now even the Marvel Universe. Even when Tom was meeting Jacob Batalon for the third time, it was Harrison who could crack up the conversation. And they were meeting for the first time!
Tom was visibly jealous of this. It wasn't the angry or hateful kind of jealous. It was a sad one. It made him feel as if he was putting in less amount of effort than Harrison. It made him feel as if he was not doing enough— dishonest, insecure and what not...
He felt stupid for feeling this. Yet, it didn't stop him from feeling it more than often. Not that Harrison would ever make him feel this way. He felt worse for knowing and yet feeling all the same.
"Hey, Holland?"
It was Jacob's voice that brought him back to reality.
"Mind if I steal your boyfriend? We are liking each other way too much." Jacob winked, looking at Tom and then at Harrison.
They were inside Jacob's trailer where Jacob was sitting on his chair and Harrison was standing beside him, leaning over his shoulder on his elbow. While Tom was standing opposite to them, basically out of the conversation. Jacob's statement did only one job— make him more anxious than before. Dread settled at the bottom of his stomach, his breathing got laboured and his heart almost stopped.
"We--we aren't boyfriends."
That made the two boys laugh more but Tom only got more confused and felt more left out. Harrison must have noticed because—
"Tis' just a joke. Relax." Harrison shook his head, looking directly at Tom.
Tom could best produce a spluttered laughter, ready to leave for the set.
"Jacob likes teasing. Which means we are gonna be shipped a lot from now on." Harrison giggled as they waited for Tom to be called for the scene. He was wearing that overly tight Spider-man suit, way too uncomfortable.
"... And that doesn't bother you?" He swirled his neck to look at his best-friend, wondering...
"Why would it bother me? It's just a joke. Normal between friends." Harrison shrugged his shoulders like it was...
Normal...
If Harrison is saying then it must be normal.
It has to be...
...
"That was sick! I totally didn't assume Laura to be 'the' prankster. Z was so not ready!" Harrison laughed as he emerged from his room, rubbing his wet hair with a towel. Tom hummed in response busy scrolling through his phone. Harrison tried to ignore it, not caring about whatever Tom was busy gazing into his phone but he could read the uncomfortable longing in his friend's brown eyes. His own laughter died in his throat as he sat beside Tom, giving him a side glare.
Three weeks they were together in this hotel suite which made Harrison more aware of Tom's expressions than any other time. And today, all he noticed was Tom's eyebrows furrowing more and more as he looked into the device. Harrison snatched it off his hands when he suspected him of—
"Hey what?!" Tom yelled, trying to take it away but Harrison was quick to raise it up in the air, using his height advantage. He looked into the screen.
— stalking Henry. He was scrolling through Henry's Instagram profile. Tom sunk into the cushions realising that he was caught red-handed. He watched the softness of Harrison's eyes vanishing replaced by something close to anger as he scrolled through his phone.
"We talked about this, right?" His voice came low as his line of sight shifted from the device to its owner. Tom didn't reply, rather looked to the other side, at the empty wall.
Harrison's nostrils flared. He tossed the iPhone to the side and stood up, pushing his glasses that had fallen to his nose tip back to his eyes.
"He's a piece of shit and you are still clinging onto him?" It was a statement disguised like a question to cloud the fact that Tom didn't have a choice than to accept that his ex-boyfriend was in fact a piece of shit. He was supposed to move on.
But does Harrison have any idea how difficult it was to move on? Does he has any idea how many times he looked at people, thinking he would fall in love with them but in a few days the truth would hit him hard on the chest?
He couldn't.
He can't.
At least, things with Henry were so much better. They lasted the longest. Two years were the longest he had been with someone and not felt drifting apart. Until...
Tom started, voice higher than it should be: "Just because you don't like him, that doesn't mean I---" But he was interrupted by a voice even louder.
"Of course I don't like him. I don't like arseholes!" There were mixed lines of anger and worry on Harrison's forehead. He paused, breathed from his mouth and added in a lot softer voice: "Don't you remember how it was with him?"
Until, he saw himself in the mirror. Until, he noticed the dullness in his eyes that used to glint with enthusiasm. He saw those dark circles, the loss of sleep, the loss of self-esteem.
He even stopped dancing, the thing that once meant everything to him. The thing that paved the way to everything he loves now. And he left it because Henry didn't like seeing him dance. Wear skirts and perform ballets. And he loved Henry so much that he stopped doing it.
No, he never loved Henry.
Henry was his weakness manifesting as a person, taking form in flesh and blood.
"I... I am just seeing his pictures, not that I am going back to him." Tom stated, his pride trying to overshadow his vulnerabilities.
Harrison again exhaled, sitting back on the sofa beside him.
"It's not just about physical things. It's also mental. We talked about it. You deserve so much better Tom and no one even close to Henry." He kept his palm over Tom's knee, looking him into his eyes, "Henry is your past. Gone. He doesn't even deserve a space in your memories."
Tom would have argued but he remembered that they have had this conversation in the past and that Harrison was right.
Henry told him what was good and bad for him. He decided everything for Tom and that's what Tom loved. He loved that he will no longer be responsible for any wrong decisions he ever made. That he would have someone else to blame for all his failures but he was so wrong.
It was his mistake. Considering the possibility was his mistake. Accepting Henry in his life was his mistake. Letting Henry make decisions for him was his mistake.
Henry tried to push his friends away from him. He did push all his friends away. But Harrison was the only one to push back. Push back even harder.
Harrison stayed with Tom no matter how much he pushed him away because Henry said Harrison was not right for him. Still, Harrison knocked at his door, asked about his day, told about his day, wished him New Year before anyone else.
Harrison even knocked at his door when Tom had completely given up, accepted that the gear of his life was no longer in his control. Harrison gave him his chest to keep his head on and cry. Harrison listened to him patiently and understood everything even when Tom was sure his words were just sobs, completely unintelligible.
And right now, he was again pushing Harrison away and Harrison was pushing back with a stronger force. Something hot and wet flashed through his eyes, collecting at the bottom of his eyelids. He wiped it off before it could fall down or before Harrison could notice.
His chest constricted imagining what if that tear had dropped. That it's been so many years after Harrison had those steel braces over his teeth removed or when Tom was no longer afraid of never growing taller and reaching Hollywood... And yet, Harrison would still give his chest for him to lay his head over and patiently hear his sobs and understand his distorted speech.
"Sorry. I shouldn't be so harsh on you..." Harrison apologised removing his hand from Tom's knee but the touch still lingered. He could still feel the warmth of the touch on his skin.
But Harrison was not harsh at all...
Tom smiled this time, looking into his best mate's blue eyes. "No, you are right. Henry is shit."
Harrison smiled too and got up again, stretching his arm is Tom's direction with his palm facing up. His hair fell on his forehead when he looked down at him, exactly like a bungee jumping rope.
"We should go out then. Refill that brain of yours with memories that will be worth memorising." He cheered.
But Tom knew there were moments worth memorising even in those times with Henry. All those moments he had his friend with him. The one who wore those metallic braces, complained about those acne on his forehead or how thin he was and joined gym at fifteen but then never went there the next day.
"Yes." Tom placed his hand above Harrison's. Harrison who no longer had those braces or those teen acne neither he chickens out of the gym training...
Tom did skip over a small detail. That little itch in his fingers when he noticed Harrison's curls falling over his forehead. The desire to touch them and push them back. He had clenched his fists momentarily until he unclenched them back to put his hand over Harrison's bigger ones. He pretended that that itch didn't exist.
Or that he liked holding his hand...

Newbie (s.s) p.2
Summery: Starting a new school with the ability to see that someone is supernatural takes a crazy turn
Word Count: 5720
Warning: someone gets taken, talk of blood, talk of torture
A/N: Woah this got out of hand. I wasn’t expecting this to take so long, and to be this long either. I hope the ending doesn’t come off as rushed. I kinda enjoyed this and if anyone wants, I could do another part? I’d need some ideas for monsters though! Hope you enjoy
Part One  Part Two
Masterlist
Tumblr media
You spent every day after school with Stiles and the pack in the week since your trip to Sunnydale. Stiles had insisted on taking you home after school, or picking you up whenever there was a potential lead. Stating that it would be faster to show you than to hope you didn’t get lost. You’d rolled your eyes, but secretly you didn’t mind being driven around. Plus, Stiles was cute, so that may have been another reason.
Argent and Derek had taken over most of the actual searching. Scott joined them most nights, but the rest of you had been tasked with connections and trying to determine who the skincrawler currently was. Which was proving difficult. You couldn’t do much without the identification of the skinned body, and you hadn’t been able to find anyone with the grey colored aura.
“We got an ID on the last body.” Sheriff Stlinski announced as he and Parish walked into Scott’s kitchen. Stiles grabbed the file folder from his dad, immediately shifting through the new information.
“We also think the church connection was the start. But it turns out that there’s also a family connection.” Parish added. “The first three victim went to the same church, but the fourth is related to the second and third.”
“It’ll stay with the family.” You sighed. “Once it finds easy prey like that it’ll stay. Who is it?”
“Stephan Milligan?” Stiles looked around the room. "Anyone know him?"
Heads shook, shoulders shrugged, then Mason, Liam's best friend, spoke up. "Yeah, he was in my math class." He turned his phone around to show a photo of an innocent looking kid. "He said something a few weeks ago about his aunt being sick. I didn't think anything of him not being in class."
Sheriff Stlinski nodded. "His aunt was the second victim. His cousin was the third."
"It's probably trying to keep a low profile." You said, thinking back to something Willow had told you before you left. "The resurrection ritual needs to be done just right to work. If anything goes wrong, or something interferes, then everything could go wrong. Most of the time they try to put themselves in the lives of whoever they have taken over. But because this one is trying to do this ritual it’s definitely not going to try and be noticed.”
"It's doing a poor job then." Stiles said, he was still looking over the files. "It's just leaving the bodies around in the open, like it wants to get caught."
"I can't figure that part out. Normally they are discreet. Unless it's part of the ritual or something." You pulled your phone out to text Buffy and Willow.
"Mason, can you send everyone that photo. It'll help knowing who we are looking for." Scott asked, before he could say anything else everyone's phones vibrated. "Thanks. I'm going to go out tonight with Derek and see if we can maybe track his scent." He looked at you. "Do you think that will work?"
"Honestly, not sure. The only other werewolf I know wasn't around when this was going on. But it wouldn't hurt to try."
After a bit more planning, with Malia agreeing to go with Scott, and Lydia going with Mason and Liam to see if she can pick up on anything from Stephans locker, you all called it a night. Per the new norm, Stiles took you home, he was silent almost the entire way. His brows pinched as he worked his lip. You’d picked up on this being his tell that his mind was racing.
"What's going on up there?" You asked, tapping his forehead.
He startled, glancing at you a moment before looking back at the road. "It's bothering me."
You waited for him to finish, but he  grew quiet agan. "What is?"
He pursed his lips. "This thing, it's not being stealthy. I can't shake the feeling that it wants us to find these people. Wants us to find it. Something just isn't sitting right with me." He put the Jeep in park in your driveway, then turned to face you.
"It's not sitting right with me either. I texted Buffy and Willow, but they haven't gotten back to me. We still have a few days before it attacks again."
"That's what worries me."
"Me too. But, with everyone on the lookout now, I'm sure we will find it before it takes another person." You grabbed your bag, looking back at him. "Try and get some sleep. I'll see you in the morning."
He looked at you a moment before smiling softly. "Goodnight."He waited for you to get in your door before leaving, and you waited for his tail lights to disappear before closing the door.
-----
"Alright class," Mrs. Hopkins started handing papers out, speaking as she went. "I want you to pick a partner, and go over this assignment. We are about to start The Crucible. I want you and your partner to pick a character and write a character Analysis on them. This project will be done over the next couple of weeks but I want you to pick the character now. And no you can’t change it. Get started." She waved her hands, then returned to her desk.
Stiles immediately moved his desk against yours, blocking you in.
"Howdy, partner." He winked.
You laughed, rolling your eyes. "Who said I wanted to work with you?"
His hand went to his chest in fake offence. "Unbelievable. I thought we had something building here."
Your cheeks warmed, you knew he was joking, but you really had been growing some feelings for him. You grabbed his desk as he tried to pull away. "I'm kidding."
"I know. I just like messing with you. So, witch trials." He leaned on his hand, his fingers covering his lips as he looked at you.
"Ridiculous. And barbaric. Witches weren't even seen as being bad till some crazy dude was convinced one of the local witches cursed his horses. Then it was 'she made me ugly' and 'my crops died because of that hag'. And the tests? Who the hell even thought of them?"
Stiles had a smile on his face, his brows slightly raised.
"Are you laughing at me?"
"No, but it's kinda cute when you get all defensive over something you care about."
You rolled your eyes again before picking up your pen and getting started on the assignment.
The rest of the day went by quick, and before you knew it you were sitting in the Jeep waiting on Stiles.  You'd been waiting a bit so when someone tapped on the window you jumped.
"Sorry." Liam cringed when you rolled the window down. "Scott told me to meet him here. Said there was some news?"
You shrugged, moving to the back of the Jeep so he could get in. The two of you talked for a bit before you saw Stiles and Scott coming out of the school. Their heads were close as they made their way to the car. Although the colors around Stiles were slightly muted, Scotts glowed like a light blue fire around him when the sun hit just right. You had become hyper aware of the auras to try and locate the skincrawler, you hadn't had much luck. You'd been working a few hours a day with whoever from the pack was available to try and hone in on making the colors appear more vivid. It had helped, but you hadn't had any luck locating the grey aura. But, you did notice that the colors around Stiles wern’t nearly as vivid as you had first thought. You also hadn't brought it up to him yet. It never felt like the right time, and you wanted to try and figure it out before springing it on him.
"Hey." Stiles said when he climbed into the driver's seat. "Ready to hear some good news?"
"Always." You responded, turning your attention to Scott who was leaning in the window.
"Argent thinks they may have found where the skincrawler is hiding."
"Let me guess, a really old crypt?"
He chuckled. "Yeah. Him and Parrish found one that had the door busted open and there were some clothes and stuff. They aren't 100% sure if it's the skincrawler, but they set up some cameras to watch it.”
"What is it with bad supernaturals and crypts?" You groaned. The boys laughed. "I'm serious. I've gone on patrols with Buffy and I can't tell you how many times we have cleared out crypts. That's where we took out the group of skincrawlers. It's weird. Plus they are always full of spiders." You shivered. Just the thought of spiders made you get creepy crawly feelings.
Liam spun around in his seat. "Wait a second. You've encountered actual demons, but spiders scare you?" His face was dead serious for a moment before he busted out laughing. "That's so fun..ow!" He reached for his arm. "What was that for?" He asked Stiles who was shaking his fist out.
"Get out of the Jeep if you're going to make fun of Y/N." His face was deadly serious as he eyed the young wolf who could easily whoop his ass.
"Oh stop." You laughed, covering Stiles' face with your hand. "Don't try and intimidate the wolf."
Liam stuck his tongue out as Scott pulled the door open and grabbed him by his shirt. "Alright, we don't need either of you crying later." He was already dragging Liam away from the jeep. "I'll catch up with you guys tonight." He waved bye and gently bumped into Liam as they both walked off.
You flopped yourself down into the passenger seat, taking a moment to look at Stiles as he fiddled with the sheriff department scanner. It surprised you that in a little over a week you had become close with everyone. Lydia and Malia had already talked you into girls night, and the boys kept an eye out for you just like they did each other. It was nice considering the seriousness of the situation in which you came into their lives. After losing the one person outside of family who understood and didn't judge you, you put up a wall. But these people, this pack that welcomed you with the understanding that being a little different isn't a bad thing, had slowly poked hole in that wall.
You pulled yourself from your thoughts, eyes focusing on the multicolored boy at your side. "Feeeeeeed me, Stilinski."
He turned to look at you, a smirk on his face. "Dude, I gave you my mini muffin pack like an hour ago."
"I'll have you know I've been working very hard in that hour and now need more food if I'm to have the energy to start this project early."
He rolled his eyes with a laugh as he started the Jeep. He didn't even have to ask you where you wanted to go as he headed in the direction of the local sushi place.
Thirty minutes later the two of you were sitting at the dining room table, the book for class and an ungodly amount of sushi between you both.
"I think we should go with Reverend Hale." You suggest, popping a piece of sushi in your mouth.
Stiles shrugged, looking up from his phone. "Sure, he seems like might be a bit of a complex character."
You look at him a moment, then look at his phone and back up at him. "Did you google it?" He slapped his phone face down, stuffing a piece of sushi in his mouth. "Oh my god, you did!" You reach for his phone and he pulls it back to him.
"Noh!" He laughs, his mouth still full.
"Ew. I know it's seafood, Stilinski but I don't need to see your food!"
He laughed harder, opening his mouth wider as your hand tried to close it.
Then there's a knock at the door and you both freeze. Stiles quickly swallowed the food.
"Were you expecting someone?" You shake your head. "Hold on, I'll get it." You follow behind him as he looks through the peephole then sighed with relief as he unlocks the door. "Hi Willow."
"Oh, hello! Sorry to just pop in like this."
"Wil!" You jump around Stiles and hug her. "What are you doing here? Everything okay?"
"Yes. Yes Everything is fine." She said, coming further into the house. "I brought you some protective charms, even though most of you won't need them, I feel a bit more comfortable knowing you have an extra layer of protection." She passed you the charm necklaces, they were subtle, looking like any normal necklace, but you could feel the slight hum from the protection spell. "Also. A slightly selfish reason." She glanced over at Stiles. " I was wondering if it would be possible for me to see The Nemeton."
"Uh." Stiles looks at you, then back at Willow. "I, uh, let me call Argent. He might be available to take you." He stepped into the kitchen as you and Willow sat on the couch.
"How's the search going?" She asked, taking your hand to trace your palm.
"They think they found where it's hiding, and who it is wearing. But nothing solid yet."
"How are you doing?"
You rested your head on her shoulder, relaxing a bit as her finger gently traced the lines of your hand. "I'm making it. Knowing it's out there is pretty scary though. I just keep thinking back on what happened last time." You grow quite a moment, deciding to tell her something you hadn't shared with anyone else. "I've been having nightmares." Her finger traces up and back down your finger. "I'm back at the crypt, and that, thing, is wearing Alice's face. Taunting me. It's like I'm reliving that night all over again. I wake up and I can't breath. I've never been so scared of anything before."
Willow laid her cheek on your head. "The protection charm will help with those. And you know I'll always answer my phone."
You snuggled deeper into her, feeling the comfort from something you use to do as a kid. "Thanks, Wil."
Before she could say anything more, Stiles came back, the tips of his ears were slightly pink, and he looked worried. "Sorry, uh, Argent said he would meet us in the woods and take you to The Nemeton." He seemed nervous about something and you made note to ask him later.
The three of you piled into the Jeep, but you could feel the nervous energy coming off of Stiles. By the time he parked the jeep he was practically vibrating with it. Argent was already at the gate waiting.
You opened the door, looking back at Stiles who had both hands on the wheel. "You coming?"
"No."
"Oh. Okay." You slipped out of the jeep, leading Willow to Argent. "Chris Argent, this is Willow Rosenburg. One of my aunts from Sunnydale."
"Nice to meet you." He said, shaking her hand. "Ready? It's a bit of a hike."
Willow smiled with a nod. "You coming with us?" She asked.
You looked back at the jeep. "No, I think I'm going to go check on Stiles."
"Good idea. He's got a past with this area of the woods, so he might need someone with him." Argent said, his brows pinched with worry as he looked at the jeep.
"Be safe." You called, watching them walk into the woods. When you turned around, Stiles was staring blankly after them. His hands were still gripping the steering wheel. He didn't even move when you climbed in. "You okay?" You whispered, there was worry growing in the pit of your stomach, you hadn't seen him so quiet before.
"Fine. Yea. Good." He stammered, his hands released the wheel and he rubbed them on his pants. Then he signed, as if he was trying to push out the unwelcome feelings. "Two years ago, Scott, Allison, Chris's daughter, and I performed a Druid ritual. We submerge ourselves in ice water to slow our hearts down so we could find our parents who had been kidnaped by this psycho teacher. But doing that we supercharged The Nemeton. We also lost a piece of ourselves. It also left us vulnerable." He cleared his throat, running his hand across his jaw. "I got possessed.”
Your eyes grew wide, there was a shiny spot down Stiles cheek where he had a tear slip. Your hand moved to his, your palm on the back of his, fingers weaved between his.
“At first I didn’t know what was happening. But things got really bad.” His fingers tightened around yours for a bit. “It was a Nogitsune. And it thrived off the chaos it created. Scott and Lydia were able to separate us, but shit just got worse. Allison. She died.” He was crying now, his breathing going heavy. “The thing still had my face. Had control over these demon warriors. It all started with this damn stump.”
You reached over, wiping at his cheek gently. “Hey, that’s all over now. But it explains a lot.” He finally looked at you, brows pinched. “You have this residual glow around you. That’s why I thought you were supernatural. It’s all these different colors at once, but now that my sight is stronger, I realize that it’s so muted that it takes just the right light to see.”
He dropped his head back to the head rest, his fingers still gripped yours. “I knew I’d never really be rid of it. I still have nightmares about the stuff it did, the stuff it made me do.”
“Willow said the protection charm will help with nightmares. I’ve, I’ve been having them too. About the skincrawlers. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner about the aura.”
Stiles looked at you, his eyes still shiny from the tears. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you about being possessed. I try to not think about it much. But I don’t think I’ve had a chance to actually process a lot of it.”
“I’m here for you if you ever need to talk about it. I promise I won’t judge. I’ve experienced some crazy stuff and I know how it feels to feel like you don’t have anyone to talk to.”
He smiled, lightly squeezing your fingers again. Before anything more could be said there was a tapping on your window. You yelped, practically jumping into Stiles’ lap, his hands grabbing your waist. Willow and Chris were outside the window laughing so hard they had to hold each other up.
“That was so rude!” You yelled, trying hard to calm your heart.
“Maybe, but that was too funny.” Willow gasped as she opened the door. She looked back at Chris. “Thank you for showing me that. I think I’ve got what I need if you guys are ready to go.”
Stiles, with his hands still on your waist, helped you into the backseat as Will got in the Jeep. Chris spoke a moment to Stiles before heading to his car and following you out of the woods.
——
Two days later, Lydia and Malia decided that you all needed some time away from the boys and drove to the mall right after school. The three of you were currently enjoying milkshakes in the food court.
"You were right." You laughed as you wiped at your mouth. "Some time away from the boys was exactly what we needed."
"We should make this a regular thing." Lydia said as she pouted at her empty milkshake. "Although, I'm surprised Stiles let you out of his sight."
You flicked a straw wrapper at her, "Oh stop it."
Malia nodded in agreement with Lydia before her eyes focused on something behind you. Lydia also froze her eyes wide as she searched around the food court.
"Something is here." She whispered.
Malia silently pointed and you turned to follow her finger. Your heart stopped when you saw the grey aura around the kid whose picture you had memorized. He was walking slow, but not drawing attention to himself. Someone stopped to talk to him, patted his shoulder and walked off as he turned down another wing of the mall.
"Call Scott," You told Malia, "I'll call Stiles." You jumped up.
Lydia grabbed your arm. "Where are you going?"
"I'm going to follow it." You replied, pulling your arm free and hitting Stiles' name on your phone.
"Y/N!" Lydia called after you, frantically pulling out her phone. But you were already heading down the wing after Stephan, phone pressed to your ear.
"Y/N! How's the mall?" Stiles asked the moment he picked up.
"We found him. Stephan. I'm following him right now at the mall." You kept your voice down, as you walked around people, keeping your eyes on the grey aura.
"What? What do you mean you're following him? Y/N don't do that. I'm on my way there." You could hear his keys jingling and the sound of a door. "Stay where you are."
"No. We can't lose him. This is the first we have seen of him. I can at least follow him to wherever he is going." You were nearing the exit, still watching Stephan as he pushed the door open. You could hear the jeep starting up. "He's leaving the mall right now."
"I'm serious, Y/N don't follow him. Please."  Stiles' voice was full of panic, but you were slightly irritated he was trying to tell you what to do.
"No. We need to know where he is going. He might have found another person to take." You stepped out into the sunlight, squinting as you  looked around. "Damn. I think I lost him."
"Go back inside. I'm almost there."
"I'm just going to do a quick walk around the parking lot. Call me when you get here." You pulled the phone away before you would hear his response. Sliding it in your pocket as you slowly walked towards the lot. After ten minutes with no luck, you turned around to head back, spotting Stiles pulling into the front of the mall. That was the last thing you remembered before everything went black

Your head was pounding. Your ears were ringing, and your mouth tasted like blood. As you opened your eyes, the light in the room was blinding. You quickly assessed yourself. Your hands were bound behind you, your feet tied to the legs of the chair you were sitting in, but no bones seemed to be broken.
"Ah, she's awake." A soft voice filled the quiet room, foot steps shuffled across the floor. "I was worried I hit you too hard." A finger touched your cheek and you tried to jump back. "Now, now. This will all go easier if you just sit still."
Your eyes finally adjusted, bringing the face of the voice into focus. It was Stephan. Well, the skincrawler. His eyes were black pits behind the glasses, there was a stench of death on his breath. "Go to hell." Your voice cracked.
"Is that any way to greet an old friend?"
"You're not my friend."
He circled around you, his finger dragging across your shoulders. "Oh, but I was once, wasn't I? Alice was quite fun to be, even though it was short lived." He laughed at his own joke. Stopping when he got in front of you again.
"What do you want from me? To use me as a resurrection sacrifice?" You twisted your wrist and pulled at your feet trying to get out of the rope.
He tisked at you. "No point in that now, you won't get out. And no. It's a funny story actually. Here I was, minding my business, becoming new people, and preparing to resurrect my family, when I saw you. Walking around here like nothing happened." His fist slammed into the wall. "Something happened! You killed my family!" The yell echoed in the small room.
"And you killed my friend, and many others! You had people locked in cages for your own fun!"
"I was going to ignore the fact you were here. That pack had no idea what or who I was. I thought maybe I could finish this, get my family back, and we would come back for you. But my need for revenge is too strong. I think I'll have some fun with you before though." He turned around and pulled the sheet off a table full of tools. "Which one first?"
The table was full of different knives and blades. The little light in the room reflected off the metal as he picked them up, examining them. “Eeny meeny miny moe.” He turned around with one pointed at you, taking slow steps your way. “I’ve been dreaming of this. But not that that I have you, I’m not sure where to start.”
“How about you start by backing away.” A voice called from the door. You both turned to see Stiles standing in the door with his bat.
“Ah, yes. So glad you could join us Stilinski. Where is the rest of your pack?”
Stiles didn’t move from the door as he answered. “They aren’t coming.”
You gasped, choking a bit. But, as Stephen turned to look at you, laughing, Stiles winked, and you almost sighed in relief.
“What a shame, poor Y/N probably thought they would come save her.” The cold metal touching your cheek made you shiver.
Suddenly, there was a thwack sound, and Stephen fell away from you cursing. Stiles was behind it, bat in the air ready to swing again. Before he could though, Stephen also had a hold of the bat, having jumped back up much faster then expected. The two struggled for it as you struggled against the ropes at your wrist again.
Just as you thought Stiles had the upper hand, Stephen drew his head back, smashing it into Stiles face as hard as it could. A sob racked your body and everything seemed to slow as Stiles fell back onto the ground.
“STILES!” You screamed, trying once again to break free from the chair. Your vision blurred as you failed to make it to his side. “Stiles get up!”
A foot nudged at his shoulder, sending him to his back, but he still didn’t stir. “What a pity. I was hoping to have more fun with him.” He leaned down and sniffed at him. “Ugh and I can’t even take his skin?” With a sigh, Stephen turned back to you, “Now, where was I? Ah yes, I was just about to torture you.” A sinister grin spread across his face. Before he could get any closer, a flash knocked him out of the way.
“Get them out of here!” Scott called out, his face was morphed into a wolf as he turned to slam a fist into Stephens face.
Hands were on your wrist as Liam tried to untie you. “I can’t get the ropes.” He huffed. “Don’t move, I have to use my claws.”
You could feel them slowly giving and were able to wiggle out as he quickly cut the ones at your ankles. Chris and Malia had already lifted an unconscious Stiles up and were making their way to the door. Before you could even get up, Liam had you in his arms running after them. The last thing you saw was Parish on fire and Lydia taking a deep breath. You kept your arms around Liam as the fresh air hit your face, Lydia’s scream was painful, you could only imagine how hard it was on the others.
The moment Liam sat you on the ground you were racing towards Stiles who was laid on the grass, still knocked out.
“He should be fine.” Chris said, letting out a relieved breath, pressing sand gauze to the cut on Stiles’ brow. “Melissa is on her way with his dad. He is breathing and his heart rate is normal.”
You gently ran your fingers over his cheek, your eyes moving to watch his chest move before whispering. “What happened?”
“Stiles saw you get taken.” Malia answered, sitting next to you as Chris and Liam moved to the other side. “He had called me the moment you hung up on him. And the moment he saw you taken he followed Stephen here. We weren’t far behind him, and we told him to wait for us, but he wouldn’t listen.”
“I’m sorry.” Your voice cracked, your hand moved down his arm to trace his fingers. “I should have listened to you. I shouldn’t have followed him.”
Malia rested a hand on your leg just as Scott spoke. “We’ve all done something we probably shouldn’t have. But what’s important is that you're both fine, and the thing is dead.” He helped Parish sit on the grass as he assessed everyone else.
You wiped some tears from your cheek. “How?”
“Once everyone was out of the room, Lydia used her scream to disorient him, and Parish wrapped him up in a fire hug. He is now a little dusty.” His eyes landed on you. “Are you okay?”
You nodded. “As good as I can be.” You looked down at Stiles, “I just wish he would wake up.”
Scott nodded at your wrist. “Have my mom take a look at those. And don’t worry, I’ve been listening to his heartbeat since I got out here. He’s already conscious.”
Your head snapped around just as Stiles squeezed your hand. His eyes slowly opened. You immediately threw yourself on him, sticking your face in his neck. “I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry.” You cried.
Slowly his arm wrapped around you, his lips pressing into the side of your head. “No need to apologize. I’ll always save you.”
“Actually I sav….ow!” Liam squeaked, you could feel Stiles flipping him off.
You sat up, helping him slowly to a sitting position. “If I had listened you wouldn’t have gotten hurt.”
He squeezed the hand he was still holding. “I heard what he said, he would have gotten you one way or another. Just next time, please wait for me before you go following a supernatural.” He brought your hand up to his lips, gently pressing it against them as Melissa and Sheriff Stlinski pulled up.
“Okay,” Melissa called out, a first aid kit in hand. “Who am I patching up tonight?”
———
“Can you pass me that water?” Stiles asked, turning his head on his pillow to face the water that was directly beside him.
It had been almost two weeks since everything went down. The bruises on you both had faded to a gross green, your wrists still hurt, but the ointment Melissa gave you helped. Stiles on the other hand, was milking the fact that he had a mild concussion.
“It’s right there.” You groaned from his desk. He’d been having you do so much for him. Even though you complained every time, you still did it, trying to prove how thankful you were for everything he did.
Stiles stuck his lower lip out. “But it’s too far, please?”
“Fine.” You dropped your pen in the book and crossed the room. “You’re so needy.”
“Hey, who has been helping you change your bandages.” He cocked a brow. He was right, he had been reminding you and helping the bandaged on your wrist and ankles.
“Drink your water.”
After a few sips his head fell back on to the pillow, his brown eyes scanning your face. “How are you?”
“Fine.” You said, he asked everyday, sometimes two or three times. You set the water back down. His hand gently grabbed the middle of your arm, pulling you closer.
“I’m so sick of hearing ‘fine’. I can see it in your eyes that you aren’t. Shit, I’m not even fine.”  He tugged your arm again and you looked up. “I’m serious. Every time I close my eyes that night replays differently. Sometimes I show up and you’re all bloody and barely there. Others the Jeep wont go and my legs don’t work and I can’t get to you, but I can hear you screaming.”
“Why don’t you wear the protection charm?” You glanced at it on his bedside table.
His hand moved to lace his fingers in yours. Something else he had been doing a lot lately. Any chance he could he would grab your hand, holding it just tight enough that there was an empty feeling when he would let go.
“Punishment.”  A deep breath. “I should have done more. Gotten there faster. Something.”
Your heart broke at the pain in his voice. “You did enough. You came, you brought the others. You made sure I knew I wasn’t left alone.” You glanced back at the charm. “I can’t be too irritated about the charm, I’ve not been wearing mine either. My dreams have been similar to yours. But you don’t wake up, or you never come. When I wake up I have to remind myself that everyone is okay. That you all came. That I’m out, and that thing is finally gone.”
“Hey.” Stiles tugged your hand, causing you to fall into his arms. “I told you that night and I meant it. I’ll always be there.”
Your head fell to his chest, letting him hold you for a bit. His heart beat, though slightly fast, was a reminder that he did wake up and was fine.
“Y/N?” He broke the silence again, causing you to look up at him, almost nose to nose. “I’m going to do something that I’ve been thinking about since I saw you get taken.”
“Stiles. If you don’t kiss me I might scream.” You whispered, your heartbeat now matching his.
And he did it. He pressed his lips against your gently, his hand holding your head in place as you pushed yourself up a bit more. Butterflies erupted in your stomach and stars twinkled behind your eyes. But he pulled away all too quickly, resting his forehead against yours.
“Woah.”
“I almost did that the moment I knew you were awake that night.” You laughed, gently touching your nose to his. “But I was worried you might have had something wrong and I didn’t want to hurt you.”
“I promise, you could never hurt me.” And he kissed you again, and again, and again.

Tumblr media
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe he was hoping it'd go away.
Maybe he was wishing for the best.
Maybe he was just disregarding and ignoring you completely.
But for whatever reason, it took Peter a week to finally act. A week.
In the grand scheme of life, a week is incredibly short. However, circumstances can always change the way you perceive things.
When you have an essay due, a week seems to fly by. But when you're waiting for the new episode of your favorite tv to come, a week seems to just drag on.
The normal, busy people don't realize is that when you don't have anything to do, and when you're so far gone into the abyss, a week can genuinely seem like forever.
And your week had been nothing short of endless.
You might've finally been done with the physical low, but the mental low was practically just as bad. You could exert energy without feeling like you'd drop if a feather were to touch your shoulder, but your brain was tired.
On the upside, no one bothered you.
On the downside, no one bothered you.
You hated the silence, but strangely that's what followed you everywhere you went. Deafening silence.
You wanted so much for someone to just talk to you. Talk with you. Even if they were lying. Doesn't matter. You just wanted someone to speak. To have some type of change in your life that forced you out of the mundane, redundant, silent cycle you lived in.
Flash Thomspon was your lab partner.
You'd seen him around. He was hard to miss. Always with his jokes and his livestreams. Forever with a smile on his face. Just like Cecilia.
You remember asking her once why they weren't friends. She'd called him obnoxious.
You wouldn't call him obnoxious though, just... loud.
That Monday when lab partners were chosen, you were completely out of it.
Staring at nothing, not making a sound, setting your head down on the table, obviously not wanting to be bothered by anyone.
So when Flash got to your table, he hadn't bothered you. He walked over, simply looked at you for a bit, and once it was clear you weren't moving any time soon, he started on his notes alone.
Which you respected. That meant he was at the very least a bit sensible, if not just lazy.
The next day wasn't much different. You still weren't up for doing anything and Flash still wasn't up to bothering you.
The day after though, Wednesday, that was the day everything changed.
"Hello?," you said into your phone.
"Hey, is this [Y/N]? That quiet chick in a.p chem?"
You chuckled at the beyond simplistic description of yourself. "Uh, yeah this is she. Who's this?"
"Flash Thompson," he responded. "Coolest guy in the class."
You rolled your eyes. "Mhm, and why are you calling my phone?"
"Well-" you heard a bottle open "-we kinda have a project that's due at the end of the week. And, believe me, as much as I love doing duo projects on my own, you need to do something."
His upfrontness took you aback, but not particularly in a bad way.
And besides, you were getting sick of moping. Your curiosity wanted to see where this was going to go.
"Um, okay. So we'll crack down tomorrow then."
"How about now?" You could practically hear the smirk on his face.
"No," you quickly responded. "You mean come to your house right? Hell no."
"Why not?," he snickered. "Strict parents? Or is the pole really just that far up your ass?"
You rolled your eyes once again. You really didn't have the patience for this. "Okay I'm hanging up-"
"Wait! I'll text you my-" Click.
You stared at the wall for a good minute in complete irritation after that phone call. You had to have lost at least a hundred brain cells during that small conversation. The last thing you needed on your plate right now was some guy giving you shit.
A notification on your phone caught your attention.
3069 Oak Street
"Oh so you text me your address and now I'm just supposed to show up at your door?," you scoffed.
-
In retrospect, ringing that doorbell was probably the smartest dumb thing you ever did.
When you told your parents you were going to a friend's house, they just paused and then smiled. Your parents had no problem at all with you going out. They hadn't even asked questions. Heck they encouraged you to go out. That meant you were trying.
But fuck them. You were trying everyday. Trying not to just take the kitchen knife and slit your wrists after every dinner.
When the door to Flash's house opened you immediately noticed three things.
1) The alleged butler he'd been rumored around school to have was nowhere to be found.
2) This was an extremely nice house. Maybe even nicer than Cecilia's.
3) And Flash's eyes were red.
"Yo!," he greeted with an obnoxious grin. "Wassup?"
"We literally just stopped talking like ten mintues ago dude," you responded as you stepped into the house. "And what's with the shirt?"
This idiot actually had a Spider-Man t-shirt on.
"Excuse me? This is drip in the finest form," he defended, hopping onto his couch. "So anyway, the project or whatever. What're we gonna do for it?"
You sighed. "Well, unless I was actually invisible for all the class periods, it's obvious I wasn't paying much attention the last couple of days."
"Yeah I guess," he chuckled. "What was all that about anyway?," he asked, to which you simply shrugged. He squinted at you, but then rolled his eyes and then picked up the remote for the tv. "Oh well, you're better now, right?"
You winced, but you were glad Flash still wasn't looking your way. "Sure."
"Wanna take off your jacket? You're not outside anymore y'know."
And that's where the problem started.
You didn't know why, but you could look over knowing you were depressed. You'd easily come to terms with it. But it was the small things in normal conversations that hit you harder than anything else. Small little suggestions that you couldn't hide it all from everyone. Hell, you couldn't even take off a damn jacket like everyone else.
"I'm fine," you answered. "So... um, about that project?"
"Yeah," he said leaning forward. "You got the instruction papers or whatever?"
You gave him a look, confused. "I never picked them up. I thought you had the papers."
"I don't fucking pay attention in that boring ass class."
"So what was the purpose of me even coming here if we can't even do anything?," you snapped.
He just shrugged.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
He shrugged again.
Your jaw clenched. Cecilia was right. "Obnoxious dumbass..."
You turned to walk back out of the front door before turning back around. "Hey Flash?"
He looked at you and grunted in acknowledgment.
"Were you just crying before I came in or are you just high?"
"High," he said rather quickly. "Why? Are my eyes red?"
You nodded. "Yeah."
"Fuck," he mumbled. "Want some?"
"Nah I'm good-" But he was already gone down the long hallway of his home. "Flash?"
You stood there, waiting for about five minutes before deciding that he wasn't coming back. Great.
So now you could either go get him, leave, or just continue standing there awkwardly.
And due to your lack of better judgment, you did the most classic horror movie move and walked further into a house that you weren't familiar with to go look for a guy you barely knew. If I die, I die, you thought with a shrug.
Walking into the long hallway the first thing you noticed was the abundance of doors. You weren't a stalker, so you didn't bother to look into any, but you could've swore you saw a room full of spiderman pictures and newspapers through the crack of one of them. Fucking weird.
In an attempt not to succumb to your curiosity, you walked faster down the hall. You stopped in your tracks when you heard sniffles. Whimpering? Whatever noises someone makes when they're crying. Someone was crying, that's for sure. And you were also pretty sure Flash was the only one in the house.
'Walk away [Y/N]. This isn't your business.'
But of course you walked closer, and the sniffles got louder. Until you found yourself opening the door and coming face to face with a crying Flash on the floor in the middle of some gaming room.
"Shit!," he yelled, turning away and attempting to cover up his crying with obnoxiously fake coughing.
"Are you okay?," you asked.
"I'm high," he kept repeating in mumbles, desperately reaching for something. "I'm just high, okay? Fuck."
You watched as he continued to search for whatever he was making it seem like he looking for. You wanted to reach out and maybe say something, anything that would make him feel better. But you knew that probably wouldn't help.
After all, it never helped you.
"I'm just... really fucking high right now, alright?"
He seemed incredibly off, even with the squirrelly, rude way he was being earlier. Like he was just trying too hard at something.
You were at a loss for words. You knew it was wrong, but the only thing you could think of was, hm. Rich boy's actually got some issues.
When he finally turned around, his face was dry and he carried a bong in his hands, lighting it and practically shoving it into his mouth in a weak attempt to cover up his unsteady breathing.
"Thought you left," he said, staring at the floor.
Realizing you'd been standing at the doorframe awkwardly, you moved to sit on the floor, opposite to him. "Well, you kinda offered me some weed and then left, I think."
"I thought I heard you say no though."
"I did..." you gulped. "But..I still stayed though."
And now you sat here with Flash and his bong.
He sat back on the side of the chair, his back leaning against it as he blew out the smoke. "Wanna try?," he offered, holding the small object up to you. He didn't wait for you to respond before setting it up again for you and passing it.
Without a word, you took it and breathed the smoke in. You sucked it up and felt it fill your lungs before leaning back and blowing it out, letting out a small cough afterwards. "Thanks."
"Fuck, you're a pro," Flash chuckled.
You shook your head and shrugged. "No. Common sense just tells you how it works, I guess."
"I feel that."
You hummed in amusement.
And then suddenly it was quiet again.
You fucking hated silence.
Luckily, Flash was a talker. Or so you thought.
At school there wasn't a dull moment if he was there. But now, seeing him in his home, he was quiet as a mouse. Contemplative. Searching.
"Say something," you said, earning a confused look from the boy in front of you.
He squinted. "Say what? I don't even know you."
You rolled yours eyes, shrugging. "Look, whatever was going on before I came in here, it's not my business, man. I only said to fucking speak."
Flash groaned. "About what?"
"I dunno," you answered. "I just don't like the quiet. Say anything you want. Just... talk."
"Um.." he looked up at the ceiling. "I got some new shoes the other day." He pointed at the Jordan's on his feet. "My mother got it shipped in from where she's out on business in Bora Bora."
Something about the way he said it made you sure that she wasn't out "on business".
"My butler is out today cuz it's his niece's birthday. She'd be cute enough, if her nose wasn't so big. It's like the wicked witch of the west."
You scrunched up your nose, imagining a younger version of wicked witch minus the green skin.
"Umm, I dunno uh, chocolate chip cookies are better than sugar cookies?"
You snorted at that. Now he was just thinking of anything.
"And uhh, I'm having spaghetti tonight.. and- well I don't know what you really want dude I'm just kinda.. life is just too boring to always have something to say for every second of every day, [Y/N]!," he suddenly snapped.
"Woah dude, chill." You blew out another round of smoke and handed Flash the bong. "I'm sorry, I didn't realize I was asking for too much."
He held his hand over his forehead. "Nah you're fine," sighed. "It's just- you ask that cuz I talk alot at school right? Yeah that makes sense I guess. I-I'm sorry," he rushed out before going back to the small contraption.
You'd been snapped at alot in your life. Way too many to count. But from those experiences you gathered a small truth; if someone has snapped at you over the smallest thing, they probably have something else going on. Or most likely a couple of things, piled up and ready to blow.
And you could smell that on Flash from a mile away.
"Flash, what's your real name?"
He paused, lifting his mouth from the bong. "Flash is my real name," he lied before passing it back over to you.
"No it's not," you stated, picking up another bag and the lighter up beside you for the bong, no longer satisfied with the loss of flavor. "I don't pay that much attention but I know for a fact that's not your name."
He rolled his eyes, quickly becoming frustrated with the conversation. "Eugene."
"Nice," you said, contemplating your next move. "So.. what does Eugene feel right now? Not Flash, but Eugene."
He reached over each practically snatched the bong away from you.
"Eugene is feeling annoyed, and frankly aggravated because some girl he barely knows is asking too much of him."
"Hey I'm only asking for what you'll give me," you said, throwing your hands in your defense.
"Well what about you?," he accused. "You're always down in the dumps, staring at the wall, looking all depressed 24/7 so how about you start talking? I mean, are you fucking okay?"
"No," you answered blandly. "Not in the slightest. Your turn. What does Eugene feel, Flash? Is Eugene, quote, 'fucking okay'?"
Flash scoffed. "What're you trying to say, that I'm depressed?"
"I never said that."
"Oh fuck that, you implied it!"
"I didn't-"
"You don't fucking know me, [Y/N]," he spat out, throwing the bong on the floor, watching as you picked it up before the water spilt. "You don't fucking know what I'm going through everyday, so please don't be like everyone else and tell me what I am, okay?!"
Were you being rude prying into his life? Totally.
Had you reached the level of nonchalantness with your and practically anybody else's wellbeing that you really couldn't possibly bring yourself to care? Yes.
And was Flash finally cracking? Completely.
"Flash is fake. And obnoxious. And rude," you deadpanned. "I wanna meet Eugene. See how he's doing."
Flash scoffed, looking for a comeback. You could see the expressions on his face flickering like random. Annoyance. Sadness. Want.
You were no psychologist but anyone with a brain could see what he was going through.
The two of you sat in silence again. But you didn't really mind it this time. You were waiting. Even without actually speaking, Flash was telling you everything about him.
Takes one to know one.
"Eugene's aggravated," he finally said, his eyes becoming watery. "Eugene's fucking angry all the time because people only seem to want Flash." He gave you a bitter smirk before averting his eyes to the ground. But you let him. If that's what was easiest for him, then whatever.
"And people assume things about Eugene all the damn time so eventually he decided -what the hell- he'll just give em what they want. And Eugene's fucking pissed because he knows for a fact that if he were to just disappear, no one would fucking care. His old man would just put him in the ground and everyone would be back to normal before fucking dinner." His breath was heavy and you could see mocha skin begin to turn a dark red. "And most of all he's pissed because he's been able to hide for so long and some girl just strolls in and figures him out."
And now here you were just there with Eugene and his bong.
You'd lost count of how much you'd smoked, and you knew he did too. But it didn't matter.
Nothing did anymore.
Not the pressure from your parents. Not the endless cycle of running through all the motions without actually taking anything in. Not even the stupid project that was worth half your grade that'd brought the two of you together in the first place.
Life was full of nothing just in millions of various forms.
Things dressed up and decorated to seem all fancy and important but in the grand scheme of things were just was worthless as you were.
You looked at Flash's home and all you saw was fancy nothing. Wealthy nothing. And you looked at his clothes and all you could possibly see was nothing.
And looking at Flash, you saw a nothing that was attempting to cover up something.
But looking at Eugene, you saw something.
Sadness. Neglect. Pain.
He was completely naked to you.
"You should probably stop," he mumbled, finally opening his eyes and sitting up a bit. "You're looking at me all weird." He reached for the bong, laying it aside once he grabbed it.
"Is that a bad thing?," you asked.
"No," he responded with a small shrug. "...just scares me is all."
You smirked. The only resemblance of a smile you'd been able to make in a long while. "And how do I, of all people, scare you, Eugene?"
You could see his jaw clench. Could see him debating with himself. Even relaxed from the weed, his eyes still darted around the room, and he was shaking his head the tiniest bit. Finally he looked back at you.
"Because -fucking somehow.. you see me-" a tear rolled down his face. "You actually see me. Not Flash... You see Eugene."
His mother's words rang through his ears like a cautionary tale. Real men don't cry. Don't be weak, like your father...
But he wanted to be. So badly he wanted, just for one moment, to be weak and to be able to fall into someone's arms and not act like he was always okay on his own. To not act like he didn't desperately yearn for someone's compassion. Someone's trust.
Flash was fun. Flash was the cool, funny side character in everyone's story. Flash was the picture perfect of everything he wanted to be.
"-And Eugene's a mess," he let out in a small, quiet sob, his expression not moving, though the tears streamed down his face. "I'm just high... that's why I'm saying all this crap. I'm just being dumb and high. Forget all this. I never said anything okay?"
You wouldn't see him break. Not some girl he just met...
Regardless of how he already felt about you.
He slowly looked back up at your face, fully expecting to see pity or disgust. Instead, your face remained neutral like his, and you were crying too.
"I don't think you're a mess Eugene." You sat up straighter, moved a little closer. "Just hurt."
He gave a bitter chuckle. "Isn't basically everybody?"
You shook your head slightly. "No...at least I don't think so. Everyone goes through something- and then there are those people that, in some sick way, want to be hurting.. but with people like us.." You found yourself grabbing his hand, not even thinking for what reason. You just did. "With us.. it's real. And not some temporary problem," you whispered. "It won't ever stop."
Eugene looked back at you again and it was over for him. He felt small. He felt naked. He felt fucking pure.
And then it happened.
You went in for a hug and he went in for a kiss.
But he made it first... and you didn't push him away.
Feeling his lips on yours.. wasn't bad. It surprised you at first, but ultimately it was pleasant.
He sighed against your lips and you could taste the smoke in between the two of you. You hadn't had much experience with guys before. Practically nonexistent if you were being honest, but that didn't matter. Eugene pressed his kiss firmer on yours, and you began to reciprocate his movements.
He held the side of your head lightly as he pulled away, his face growing further apart from yours the slightest bit. He rubbed his nose against yours. You both closing your eyes.
"Stay here with me," he pleaded softly, his breathing slightly erratic. "I-i won't try anything, I swear. I just..." He sniffed and used his shoulder to wipe away at some of the tears on his cheek. "You really see me. A-and I see you, y'know? And we're just-"
You nodded, taking your hand to run through his hair. "Okay," you whispered. "I'll stay."
A small smile started to break through his tears. "Thank you," he mumbled against your cheek before planting a soft kiss onto it.
Your mind was blank. You couldn't think of more than one thing at a time. But you knew one thing; you wanted to be there. That much you were sure of. You still weren't happy. You weren't safe. Just content with this idea of change.
For once, you weren't overly sure of what you were doing. It wasn't routine.
For once, you felt like something was different.
----------Back on the other side of town-----------
You weren't home.
Peter had finished his patrol, swung to your apartment, and you were nowhere to be found.
"No. N-no please don't do this," he pleaded to himself. "Be in the bathroom. Please just be somewhere. Come on, get in here."
He'd already looked through every window available and he could only hope you were in some inside room. Your bed was completely untouched.
"I should've reached out to you. Fuck! I should've done something. Just please be alive..."
He waited anxiously to see if you'd show, even sending a drone to Cecilia's address to see if you were there in the meantime. "I-I'm so sorry I- just please! Be at a friend's house! Something!"
He didn't even realize how much he was shaking. How much your life was in his hands. If you were dead, he'd never forgive himself.
"She's not at the Gulliver residence, Peter. Are there any other places you'd like for me to check?," E.D.I.T.H asked.
"She's somewhere!," he yelled out. "It's one in the morning on a school night. Find her! Please...."
He looked back toward the window. After while he didn't even know how much time had passed. He was just staring. Waiting for you to walk through that door. And when you never came he could only hope that you'd be at school.
"I'll help you," he whimpered. "Just..please. Please just stay alive long enough for me to try."

Mainstream Barbeque
"Mama...up." Valerie says quietly as she reaches up toward Stephen and makes grabby hands at him.
"Just a minute cub."
The baby pouts but continues to cling to Stephen's leg as he sets up the table for the barbeque. It had been like this all day, and the more of the team that arrived, the more she stuck to the sorcerer and made it a little difficult to move around and help. She was comfortable with the team and trusted them, but the noise was still overwhelming for her and Stephen was safe and calming. He hoped she would be content to go to Natasha or Quill when they arrived but Valerie seemed intent on staying with Stephen today. Not even Tony was able to successfully pry her away. Maybe the two new teenagers made her nervous.
Stephen lifts a brow when the container of brownies he knew had been next to the plates suddenly disappears and pulls some plastic cups out of their packaging calmly.
"Put them back Thomas."
Said teen appears to his left with a small gust of wind to give away the fact that he had run over. "How did you know?"
"He's Mom. He knows everything." Bucky answers as he sets down the container of cookies he brought.
"Oh...I thought that was a joke."
Stephen huffs in amusement. "It started out that way...but then it stuck...and then Diana and Valerie kind of made it real."
He finally finishes setting up the table and bends down to pick up Valerie and place her on his hip, and then looks around. Peter, Cassie, Harley, and Diana were in their bathing suits giving Athena and Gerald baths, some of the men were either playing football or swimming in the lake (Clint was starting a trend of doing dangerous tricks off the tire swing and into the lake), and Laura was inside helping prep food. The Barton kids had been part of the lake shenanigans but looked to have joined in on giving the wolf and alpaca their baths.
Some further observation showed Wanda and Loki helping William practice his magic, and Thor and Quill were off in the distance sparri--
"No! Absolutely not!" Stephen shouts at the two gods as he sends a spell at them with a flick of his wrist to stop them.
"Quail was just going to show me how much he's improved with his powers!"
"It's Quill." The celestial corrects with some annoyance.
"Yes. That's what I said."
Stephen glares at them as he approaches them. "There will be no sparring between you two! Last time you sent out a shockwave and blew out every single one of the compound's windows! It had just finished being rebuilt too!"
"Pfft...it was one time--owowow!" Quill whines when Stephen grabs his ear.
"My husband had to pay for that!"
"He's a billionaire!"
"He's not going to be at the rate you break things! Find something else to do!" Stephen releases Quill and starts to walk away before calling over his shoulder. "That doesn't mean Scott either!"
"Well there goes my day." Quill grumbles.
Valerie rests her head on Stephen's shoulder and watches calmly as he walks around to check in on everyone. Even Carol, T'Challa, and Shuri had come to enjoy the barbeque, and Stephen takes the seat next to the king as they watch the rather rough football game. T'Challa looks over at Valerie and smiles at her softly, and the baby hides her face in Stephen's shoulder.
"The last time I was here, you only had Peter." He says and Stephen looks at him.
"That's right. You didn't come here with the rest of us after…"
"No. Now I see you have four children."
"Harley was adopted under similar circumstances to Peter, but Diana and Valerie are biologically both mine and Tony's thanks to magic."
"What about the other three? I met Clint's kids earlier but I'm not familiar with the others."
Stephen looks over at Cassie. "Cassie is Scott's...Quill parents her as well. The twins are William and Thomas. They're technically mine too but Wanda and Vision take care of them."
"Did you adopt them too?"
"No. Tony and I just have permanent guardianship over them."
"This really is a family." T'Challa mutters softly and Stephen looks back at him.
"Well I'm sure if you ask anyone, they'll all tell you that I parent everyone."
The king smirks. "Do you?"
"Well someone has to keep them all from doing stupid things."
T'Challa laughs and looks back to the football game and Stephen watches as Natasha and Carol occasionally flip the others onto their backs. Football was always played a little extremely, but as long as the right people were playing, Stephen didn't stop it. If there were any players that weren't enhanced or trained assassins (Nat was a force to deal with so Stephen never bothered to keep her away), the sorcerer would either tell the enhanced persons to take it easy or just have the others wait a little while so the enhanced could get it out of their system. The unenhanced were content to spend time in the lake for now.
Stephen looks over to the kids when he hears laughter, and sighs when he just manages to watch Athena shake the water from her body. Harley and Peter cover the wolf in towels and dry her as thoroughly as possible, and when they finish, the girls take over with the grooming. Athena actually liked the attention Cassie, Lila, and Diana were giving her, and stood very still so they could brush her down. The boys turned their attention to Gerald, and the alpaca barely paid the kids any kind as they gave him his bath. He just lazily munched on his hay as he was scrubbed down. Instead of towels being used though, Thomas ran over and used his speed to air dry Gerald. By the time his bath was finished, the girls had finished with Athena, and the wolf happily trotted over to Stephen to sit by him.
Loyal as ever.
"Athena pretty." Valerie mumbles against Stephen's shoulder as she reaches out to the wolf. Her tiny hand pets Athena gently and the baby smiles. "Soft, Mama."
"Is she?" Stephen humors his youngest by reaching down and petting his wolf as well. Valerie was right. It was like touching silk. The girls did a fantastic job grooming her.
"How do you have a wild creature so tame?" T'Challa asks from beside the sorcerer.
"Long story short, the kids and I were turned into wolves, Athena came across us and helped us, but when we were turned back, she wanted to come with us. She was by herself and I was able to use a spell to communicate what the rules were and what she would have to expect. Tony caved and let her come home with us, and Athena has yet to disappoint. She protects the kids and I only have to tell her who a friend is once. If I tell her to attack, she will...unless family is attacked first. That's the only time she won't wait for a command." Stephen explains.
"That's amazing." The king admits. "She acts like a pet."
"She is and isn't. She's a companion too. Although she does sleep at the foot of our bed." Stephen chuckles.
"How does Tony feel about it?"
"He doesn't care as long as she stays off the pillows."
Stephen then catches the king up with everything up to that point, and halfway through it, Tony announces that lunch is ready. The sorcerer got up so he could get Valerie's food, since kids got their food first, then the unenhanced, then the enhanced. He figured on getting both of their plates since going back a second time would be a waste of time and he wasn't enhanced, and let his daughter pick most of what she wanted. He had to persuade a little more vegetables on her plate, but it wasn't too big of a deal since Valerie enjoyed everything for the most part. As soon as they were finished, they sat down on one of the many laid out blankets, and Stephen made sure Valerie was all set before he started eating himself. Tony would take care of Diana, and Wanda would explain the process to the twins. Athena of course waited patiently until Stephen was situated before she joined him on the blankets and flopped onto her side next to him to doze.
"She won't bite me will she?" Stephen looks up when William speaks and smiles softly before turning his attention back to his food.
"No. She knows you're a friend. Everyone here is."
"... can I sit here?" The boy asks shyly and Stephen nods.
"Of course." When William sits down, the sorcerer glances over at him. "How are you and your brother adjusting?"
"It's...it takes some getting used to. We're not used to this kind of attention, but it's nice...and Wanda makes really good food."
"That's good."
"I don't get the ban on peppermint though." William brings up with confusion.
Stephen chuckles. "It makes Peter sick. A con of the spider bite. Just the smell itself drives him into his room. Last time I ate it, he avoided me like the plague for a full twenty-four hours. He can smell it on whoever ate it."
"Did he like peppermint before the bite?"
"Loved it."
"That sucks."
Lunch passed just like that. William asking questions about the Stark family (and in the background, Stephen noticed that Harley was at war with himself trying to figure out whether to join them or not. He didn't. He sat with Peter and Cooper with a defeated sigh). William asked Stephen about his magic and the girls' existence...and the sorcerer calmly answered each question. The teen was still learning after all.
William was then surprised when an alpaca decided to disturb the teen's personal bubble to steal the leftover apple slices on his plate. He shouted when Gerald bent down to Hoover the fruit and then actually held a hand over his heart to no doubt attempt to calm his pounding heart. Gerald was harmless, but he was pretty persistent about things he wanted. He had a bad habit of helping himself to people's fruits and vegetables and Stephen and Tony had been trying to kick the habit, but to no avail. Someone had to be sharing with the alpaca for their scolding to fall on deaf ears.
"Gerald! No! Get out of here you overgrown fuzzball." Tony shoos the animal away when he runs over, and huffs as the alpaca walks away with an annoyed grunt. "Sorry TinkerBell. Want me to get you some more fruit?"
William blinks and looks up at the engineer. "Wh-what did you call me?"
Stephen rolls his eyes. "Better get used to it. He gives everyone a nickname. Sometimes more than one."
"Your brother is Speedy Gonzalez." Tony informs the teen with a grin.
"That's... accurate." William sighs and drops his hand. "It's fine. I was done anyway. He did me a favor."
"Just push him away if it happens again. He's harmless." Stephen says as he gets up and Valerie follows him to throw their plates in the trash.
The cans were sitting behind the cabin and when the two were done tossing their garbage, Stephen looked around when he heard muttering. He raises an eyebrow and walks around the far corner to investigate and narrows his eyes when he finds Sam feeding Gerald some fruit from his own plate.
"You're the one teaching him this bad habit?!"
Sam jumps and looks up at him sheepishly. "Sorry Mama Bear."
"You in twouble." Valerie says quietly from her position at Stephen's leg.
"Stop feeding him from your plate and I won't make you clean his pen." Stephen compromises and the darker male nods quickly.
"He won't be getting anything from my plate anymore. Strictly treats I grab just for him."
"Thank you. He just gave William a heart attack."
"What? This guy?" Sam grins and pets the alpaca's neck. "He's--"
"Harmless. Yes. I told him."
"Mom!" Peter runs around the corner and nearly trips over his own feet as he stops. "Quill and Carol are about to spar."
"Absolutely not! She's on par with a god--all of you overgrown children are chipping away at my sanity…"
Sam smirks as Stephen picks up Valerie to stop the new attempt at a godly sparring session.
"Up for some ultimate frisbee in the mud?" Peter asks and Sam shrugs.
"Sure. Why not. I'll enjoy it while I can before Stephen finds out.

Sweet Confessions
Tumblr media
Author’s Note: Thank you so much for this adorable request!! I’ll admit that fluff isn’t my strong suit, but I still really like the way this turned out! I’m so sorry for the delay, I immediately fell in love with the concept but wasn’t in the right head space to be able to write it. But here it is! With some mild language, and, as always, a touch of angst
Warning: brief child abuse mention

Sweet Confessions
2091 words
“Romanoff, there’s an incoming storm, extraction will have to wait. Grab Barton and head back to the safe house, I’ll send you a new flight plan in the morning.”
“Nick, we’re more than capable enough pilots to avoid—”
“That’s an order, Romanoff. Stay grounded,” Nick grumbled and terminated the call.
“Hear that, Clint? Time to turn around.”
They trekked back through the narrow streets outside Lom, the Norwegian air brisk with a mid-March chill. The wind had noticeably picked up, swirling the powdery tops of snow piles. Years of Russian winters had taught Natasha enough to know Nick was right, the weather was about to get a whole lot worse, it was far too late for takeoff.
The safe house was a small cabin situated near the base of Skarstind, a mountain in the Jotunheimen range that could potentially provide some relief from the gathering blizzard, if the wind would be so kind as to shift. As it was, Nat and Clint had to fight their way through nearly a foot of snow and harsh winds in order to take refuge in the cramped building they thought they had seen for the last time.
The majority of the space was the kitchenette and living room, an open area paneled in dark oak. Off the back wall was a small bedroom and a bathroom, sparsely furnished, but functional. Natasha’s request for two queen beds had gone unheeded, but Clint had been gracious enough to allow her the full-sized bed to herself, opting to sleep on the tattered couch instead.
They dropped their bags by the door and set off to warm the cabin again, to stave off the chill that had permeated the building in their absence. Clint turned on the oven and rummaged through their food reserves as Nat lit a fire.
“Whoever packed our supplies is an idiot,” Clint muttered under his breath, pulling out a couple measly slices of bread and a nearly empty jar of peanut butter. “Who the hell sends two full grown adults on a mission in a remote area with so little for emergency food? What if we’re stuck here for a few days?”
“We’d have more if you didn’t eat so much of it earlier.”
“Can you blame me for not wanting to carry it five miles to the hangar?”
“You’re such a child,” Nat laughed dryly.
Their meager dinner was far from satisfying, but they’d both survived on less, and Nat was grateful Clint hadn’t managed to eat quite everything before they had left. The wind howled outside, the snow piling up along the windowsills, disguising just how much had fallen. It was still early yet, but with nowhere to go, they lounged across the couch, counting the knots in the ceiling beams.
“Hey Nat?”
“Mmhmm?”
“How well do you think we know each other?”
“About as well as I let anybody know me. Why?”
“I’ve got an idea. Want to play a game?”
“What kind of game?”
“We make claims about each other, something we believe to be true, so no easy shots like, ‘You’re one half of Strike Team: Delta.’ Guesses only, no prior knowledge.”
“And if you’re wrong? Are we drinking?”
“Oh no, I know better than to challenge you to any competition involving alcohol. I think I still have some M&Ms.” Clint dug through his duffle for a few moments and triumphantly held up a crumpled bag. He poured out the few remaining candies and divided them into two piles. “If I’m wrong, toss me an M&M. Whoever runs out first wins.”
“You’re giving yourself four guesses?”
“You’re assuming I’m going to be wrong?”
“Maybe.” She smirked. “Alright, I’m game. You avoid talking about family because one of your parents, most likely your father, was abusive.”
“Damn, Nat. There’s no easing into things with you, is there?”
“Is that your claim?” She rolled a blue M&M between her forefinger and thumb.
“Only if I’m right,” he smirked, settling into the oversized chair opposite her.
“No cheating.” She tossed the candy, which he deftly caught. “Okay, easing in… If no one’s looking, you’ll drink straight from the coffee pot.”
“Wait, did you hack into Fury’s cameras?”
“I will now,” she laughed.
“If that’s how this is going to go… You love bad jokes, especially puns.”
“And if you tell anyone else, you’re dead, you hear me, Barton?” Nat narrowed her eyes, as if having a sense of humor beyond sarcasm and biting remarks would tarnish her reputation.
“Fine, this is all confidential, we’ll keep it out of the mission reports.” Clint laughed, certain including their secrets, no matter how small, was never part of the game plan. There was a lot to be said, a lot to admit, and Natasha was the only person he was willing to open up to. Of course, she’d only get out of him what she wanted to discover, which could be anything.
“Good. Are we still easing in?”
“Please.” A part of him already regretting starting this game.
“You’re far too lazy to bother matching your socks, even if we’re not on a mission and you have plenty of time to sort your laundry.”
“That feels like pre-existing knowledge.” Clint narrowed his eyes slightly.
“Hey, I may have the blueprint to your apartment building, but I haven’t had a reason to break in yet.” Nat raised her hands defensively and smiled as innocently as she could manage.
“…I’m going to choose to ignore that for the sake of our friendship.”
“Good choice.” Nat winked. “Now’s not the time to give you a rundown of all the information I compile on my associates.”
Clint was never quite sure if she was exaggerating about her surveillance, but given her intense and guarded personality, he knew better than to doubt her; between her various shady contacts and heavily detailed notes, she’d saved their asses on more than one occasion.
“You always give me shit about pets, but if I had to venture a guess—”
“Which you do.”
“—I’d say you’re a cat person.”
“Guilty as charged.” She flashed him a tight smile, her lips pressed firmly together.
“Wait, have you never had a pet?”
“First of all, that was a question, and second, it’s not your turn. You put off washing dishes until you’ve completely run out of clean stuff.”
“Paper plates exist, you know.” He tossed an M&M her way, but she didn’t move to catch it, so it bounced quietly off her lower lip and landed in her lap. “Nat?”
“Sorry, I got a little lost in thought for a second.” She gently shook her head, ate the candy, and forced a smile. “Easing in, let’s go.”
“You’re afraid of spiders.”
“…You’re serious?” A genuine smile spread across her face before she erupted in laughter. “I’m Black Widow, the Slavic Shadow, the Red Death. You really think I’m afraid of an arachnid?”
“Admittedly, no,” he chuckled, “but it’s all I’ve got right now.” It was a lie, but he had no intention of letting her know; all he cared about was keeping her happy.
“Take your candy, idiot.” Nat rolled her eyes and held out a green M&M. She placed it in his extended hand, her fingertips lingering on the flat of his palm for a second or two longer than usual. “You cry at weddings, don’t you?”
“Truthfully, I can’t remember the last wedding I went to that wasn’t for a mission, but if you’re including television and movies, yeah, I guess I occasionally cry watching them. Some of us are human, you know.”
“Hey! I’m human! Emotions just aren’t my thing.” She shrugged.
“They could be, and no one would judge you for it. You know that, right?”
“I’m well aware that you would be fine with it, but most of the world is far less forgiving. This is who I am, it keeps me safe. Now please, take your turn before I run out of patience.”
“You would leave this life behind at a moment’s notice and never look back.”
“Hell no. I’m good at this. I’ve done so much bad in my life; this job—dangerous missions in foreign places to stop whatever villain of the week, no matter how small—is my chance to make it right. Sure, retirement sounds nice sometimes, but I can’t see there being a point where I’ve done enough.”
“Nat, you’re a good person.” Clint instinctively reached across the table for her hand, hoping to offer reassurance in whatever way he could. “I see you, not your past, not—”
“But enough about me,” she shook her head and set an orange M&M in his palm, “it’s my turn to guess. Let’s see… Your favorite kill—and before you interrupt me, don’t—was that fucker in Prague that preyed on kids.”
“I’ll admit, he deserved it, but not all of them do.” Clint shrugged. “The world’s a better place with him gone, I’m glad I had a hand in removing a predator from it.”
“See, I knew you enjoyed at least some of the damage we cause!”
“Aren’t we supposed to prevent more damage? I think you forget that sometimes,” Clint teased, giving her a knowing look.
“Oh, whatever,” she laughed. “Can’t a girl have a little fun? We’re assassins, after all.”
“Yeah, fine, you win, I’m an idiot.” He rolled his eyes but couldn’t help smiling.
“An idiot that’s almost out of chances.” Natasha smirked as she picked up the solitary red M&M in front of her. “Ready to lose, Barton?”
He tried to hold his smile, he really did, but nerves were getting the better of him. He’d waited months for an opportunity like this, for all the pieces to fall together just right. This wasn’t supposed to be the trip—the snow had moved in faster than predicted, he wasn’t as prepared as he would’ve liked—but there was no doubt in his mind that what he felt was real. He took a steadying breath and met her eyes. This was it, no going back.
“You love me.”
A deafening silence hung in the air, neither of them daring to so much as breathe. The candy slipped from Nat’s grasp and bounced off the edge of the table with a dull thunk. She blinked and looked down, tracing its path along the wooden floor until it rolled to a stop near the fireplace. No one moved.
“Nat?” He just needed her to look at him, he needed to see the truth in her eyes, in the lines of her face, but she just stared at the heat from the fire turning the candy shell glossy and thin. “Did I just lose?
Finally, she turned back around, her expression blank, but her eyes revealed warring emotions beneath the surface.
“You love me,” she echoed quietly.
“With every fiber of my being.”
She searched his face for signs of deceit, but all she found was genuine earnestness; this was real, and she was expected to process it.
“You’re such a sap,” Nat smiled, laughing slightly, “but okay, let’s test your theory.”
She reached across the narrow table and grabbed his shirt to pull him in, their lips meeting in the middle. Clint slid a hand to the nape of her neck, his fingers tangled in her loose curls. Her grip on his shirt softened, and he felt her hands wind around to his back before twisting the fabric in her fists once more. All thoughts about the uncomfortable positioning ceased, just how close he was to falling off the edge of the chair no longer mattered. He’d imagined this moment countless times, but even his wildest dreams couldn’t live up to reality. He fully lost himself in the moment; all that existed were urgent kisses and racing hearts.
Eventually they parted, their breathing heavy, faces flushed, neither sure when the cabin had gotten quite so warm. Natasha laughed breathlessly and smoothed her hair, grinning like an idiot. For years, passion had been her business, but love? Love was new and exciting and wonderful.
“I guess we were both right,” Nat beamed, joy radiating from her, somehow making her even more beautiful than usual. Clint’s response got caught in this throat, all he could do was smile back. “Should we continue playing or…?”
Clint moved around the table to sit beside her and took her hand, their fingers automatically entwining, a perfect fit, as if this was how it was meant to be all along. “Forget the game, I’ve already won.”

Security.
A/n: just some dumb emotional blurb about what it’s like being a spider-person. Had this idea after writing tag, but wasn’t sure how tag was going to do, so i waited and kept this in my notes. anyways, i hope you guys enjoy it!
Warnnings: It’s a bit angsty? mentions of death, negative emotions, just kinda sad for a while. A real somber tone, if you would.
Tumblr media
It was your typical night of patrolling. You were lounging on the roof of a building, unphased by the lack of crime happening. You were starting to think that criminals were actually scared of you and Peter. Maybe they were, and they were right for feeling that way.
You were admiring all the glowing lights of the city, paying no mind to the various noises of the night. You and Peter hadn’t spoken a lot since you’d gotten out here, but again, that was typical. Peter liked to focus, and you never felt the need to bother him. Normally, he’d speak first. ….Normally, it’d be some pop culture joke. But not tonight.
You heard a sniffle, and that’s what snapped you out of your daydream. It wasn’t cold enough to cause your nose to run, and besides, Tony had installed those heaters into the suits. So even if you were chilly, the suit would recognize that and heat you back up. Was Peter….Crying?
“Pete?” you asked quietly.
“Oh!” he cleared his throat and sat up a little straighter, “Yeah? See something?”
“Are you okay?”
He hesitated, “I’m…Alright.”
You moved closer to him, “You’re a bad liar, Peter.”
Peter slouched once more and made sure he was out of anyone’s view before he took off his mask. He held it so gingerly in his hands, looking down at it. You couldn’t read his face, there were too many emotions. You took off your mask as well, setting it in your lap, “If you wanna talk…I’m here.”
Peter didn’t break eye contact with the mask, “I’ve never told anyone who wasn’t my aunt May, but..Sometimes..”
You tilted your head a little after hearing his voice crack on the last word. “Why do bad things happen to good people?”
That was a lot …Heavier than you were anticipating, but then again, you often thought that yourself. You waited a moment and let out a breath, “I… I don’t know, Pete. I’m not sure. I was always told that things happen for a reason.”
Peter thought about that last bit. It was true. Everything that happens, always has a reason. He became Spider-man to protect people.. But on the other side of the coin, it costed him a lot more than what he was willing to ever sacrifice. It costed him everything, if he was being truly honest.
It took one of the people who truly meant everything to him away. He finds himself thinking about what happened more often than he’d admit. He remembers that night. He remembers the crowd of people. He remembers pushing through them and immediately regretting that decision.
He remembers every detail about Uncle Ben that night. He could even tell you the brand of shirt he was wearing. That wasn’t important to any ordinary person, but to Peter, it was everything.
A carjacker, they said. A shooter, one corrected. Peter didn’t care which one it was. He can only remember holding Ben’s hand until Ben couldn’t anymore. He could tell you how awful it was to watch the life fade from Ben’s eyes as his breathing stopped. He remembers the onlookers gasping or some crying, and he remembers the sobs that came out of himself. He wanted it to be him. It was his fault. He remembers hearing where the murderer was heading, and he remembers going after him.
He could tell you the hatred he felt in that moment. He could tell you how he cornered the man, and accidentally killed him. He could tell you, moment for moment, what it felt like to watch the man as he tripped and fall out of the warehouse window. The last thing he will ever remember about that man was the way he had reached out his hand and begged for help as he fell back, but all Peter did was watch.
He hadn’t meant to let the man die, but something inside of him let it happen. And he still doesn’t regret it. He knows Ben would’ve been upset, but Peter thought it was justice. And it was also the moment after looking out the broken window that he realized he needed to protect this city, and the world if he could.
He needed to protect everyone so ensure that there would never be another Ben. He never wanted to relive that moment of going home. He never wanted to hear aunt May cry again. He never wanted to remember the look on her face, or the way she dropped the phone. He never, ever wanted to relive the moments of having to tell her what had happen. He wished he didn’t have to live through the aftermath of it all. He never wanted to remember the feeling of watching Ben being lowered into his final resting place. It was something he’d seen too much of.
It brought back the memories of his parents. He was so young, and couldn’t fully understand. All he remembers is that they went away for work one day and never came home. All he can recall is May helping him fix his child sized dress top as they prepared to head out for something. A funeral, May had told him. He had never been to one of those.
He remembers seeing so many sad people, but never asked why.
He remembers not going home to his bed that night, mostly because his things were already at May’s place. They stayed there for a long time. Until he grew out of them, if he remembers correctly.
He never went home.
So young and fragile, May had sheltered him from the pain, and did her best to ease him into this new life with her and Ben. It was a good life. There was plenty of books to read, meals to eat, places to sleep. He still didn’t understand. Then one day he did.
There was a picture of his parents that was always by his bedside, on the wooden night table his parents had bought for him years ago. He remembers his small hands carrying the picture to May. He asked why they didn’t want to take him home.
That was the day he learned what misery was. It all made sense to him. That was the day that little Peter Parker had made a promise to himself.
There would be no more misery in this world so long as he was around. It was this series of moments that made him Spider-man. He became a hero built on pain, loss, and unbelievable grief. And he’s used it for good. Or so he thought. Most days he wasn’t too sure of himself.
“Peter?”
He looked over at you with a tear running down his face, he quickly looked back down at the mask. He wasn’t sure what to say, so he just began replaying a mantra in his head.
“My uncle,” Peter said almost as if he wasn’t sure where to begin or end, “He always told me that great power came with great responsibility.”
You lifted a hand to gently put on Peter’s back, but stopped midway when his words caught you off guard.
“What if I ….Don’t want the power.. Or the responsibility…Anymore.”
“What do you mean?”
“I,” he sighed, sounding selfish, “I have these powers and I chose to be Spider-man, but what if I choose to be something else instead.”
You really wanted to make a joke to lighten the mood, but you knew better. You set your hand back on the cool cement of the roof and looked away, “I don’t think you get that choice anymore. I don’t think any of us do.”
“Being Spider-man costed me everything….It costed me my uncle, it….I..”
You rubbed your arm, feeling a stitched up wound reopen as your heard your own voice cracked, “It costed me my mom.”
It was in that moment that Peter realized something. Something very important that he had forgotten over the last few weeks. Spider-man was not a symbol of loss, but a symbol of hope and strength.
“I didn’t mean to cut you off,” you didn’t bother to look at him, “I just thought maybe…You’d..Know you were alone.”
“I’m sorry.”
“What for? You didn’t ask to lose someone important to you..” You wiped your eyes and finally turned back to look at him, “I just want you to know that I get it, Peter.”
Peter looked you over for a moment or two. It was so bizarre and jarring to see you cry. He had only see you cry once, but that’s because you found his joke so funny that you had actually started crying. But now you were crying out of pain, and he wasn’t sure how to feel. Maybe this was a good thing.
“I never like to get personal because, well,” You sighed, wiping your face again before looking down at all the city lights again, “It was just so sudden..She was always sick, but, we thought she was getting better.”
Much like Peter, you remember every tiny detail about that day too. You remember how her hair was styled, you remember how she had been so happy and full of joy just a few hours before. It was a curse having to remember it all.
It was a curse remember how the nurses had to drag you out of the room screaming. It was a curse knowing that there was nothing you could do. Despite having powers, you were utterly powerless.
It was a curse remembering what her grave looked like. It was adorn with all her favorite flowers that you had swung around the city gathering. You never wanted to tell a soul how god awful it all felt.
You never wanted to get close to another living thing out of fear that this would happen again. But Peter kinda messed that up. You had already gotten close to him. You didn’t mean to, it just happened.
You remember how approving your mother was of him. She was even fond of him, constantly telling you that you should ‘make a move.’ You always got embarrassed and told her it wasn’t like that, but she could always see right through you.
She always knew what you wanted, even when you thought you didn’t. She knew you. She loved you.
The morning after everything, you had woken up to an empty home. In fact, it wasn’t home at all. She wasn’t singing anymore. Her bed was cold. Dishes from the days prior were still in the sink. You didn’t want to be there.
It didn’t feel right.
It didn’t feel like home anymore.
You had found yourself staying at Peter’s place most nights. May never minded, she never really did. You took the top bunk of Peter’s bed. The nights were always silent and heavy. Both of you knew something was bothering the other, but neither of you wanted to talk first.
Most of the nights you laid so you could look out the window. You looked up at the sky and wondered which star was your mother. Was she there at all? Maybe this was all a bad dream and she was waiting for you at home. It was thoughts like that that really made it sink in. She just wasn’t there anymore.
You knew better than to let anyone see you cry, so you kept it all in. You had to pick up the pieces and try to make the most out of what was left. It didn’t seem fair, and it wasn’t, but life wasn’t fair. It would never be fair.
“I just..I don’t know..” You looked at your hands, “I still can’t wrap my head around it. Not to mention that I have no idea where I’m going to be moving to-”
“Moving?”
You remembered that you weren’t going to tell Peter that last bit because you didn’t want to hurt him. It was a big legal mess. Now that your sole guardian was gone, you were currently staying with your grandparents, but they were getting too old to do much, so they thought it’d be best to move you out of state to live with your aunt. That was your only option. You had no other family, and no other family in New York, for that matter.
“My grandparents can’t take care of me, and my aunt is a last resort.”
“What about your dad?”
Another sour note has been struck, but you kept a brave face. You honestly didn’t know what to say exactly. Your mom was always so secretive about who he was. You thought for the longest time it was out of shame, but you realized, it was just because she had moved on. She made a good life for you, so she didn’t think i twas really necessary to stress you out with the ‘I don’t know’’s and the 'I’m not sure’’s.
“I don’t know him,” you smiled a little at the thought that ran through your head, “All I remember is my mom describing him as some suave, rich party boy. Always told me he was some sort of famous celebrity. Never bothered to try to find him, mainly because I’m a nobody, you know?”
Peter looked out at the lights as well. It was so quiet now. You were leaving? Peter didn’t want to admit it, like most things, but you were like his rock. You were the only person who truly understood because you were exactly like him. Sure, Ned knew, but Ned would never know how it truly feels.
For a second, Peter thought that maybe if you’d found your dad, you could stay. But there was a long list of famous party men in New York, and he didn’t have time to just go down the list. And of course, Peter being who he is, and knowing the people he does, the first party goer that came to mind was Mr. Stark, but Tony never seemed like the type of guy to just do something like that.
Then again, he wasn’t always responsible. Okay, he is never responsible. He was the type of man who loved danger almost as much as he loved his music. Or Pepper, but he’d never tell anyone that. Why would he?
“Of course you know,” you said after the long silence, “You’re the biggest nobody I know, Peter.”
“How comforting. Thank you.”
You chuckled, “Kidding. Kidding.”
The mood in Peter’s head shifted completely. He was no longer weighed down by this darkness. Sure, he still felt a little bit like hot garbage, but hey, you were here. He liked that. He liked you. He liked your laugh, the design of your suit, the way you said his name. He liked most things that other people would hate. He loved how ridiculous your handwriting was. He loved how sometimes you could outsmart him, or even when you constantly tapped your writing utensil on things. If you left, who would he have? May, of course. Tony, obviously. Ned, most of the time. Who would he sit with on the rooftops at midnight when 95% of the city was sleeping? Who would occasionally bring snacks or extra homework supplies when they knew he needed them? Nobody.
“So,” Peter swallowed hard, “When, uh, when do you, uhm…Leave.”
“Not sure.” you shrug, trying not to seem bothered by it, “If only I knew who my dad was, and by some miracle he was in New York, this wouldn’t be an issue.”
“I’ll help you.” he blurted out.
“What?”
“Find your dad. I’ll help you.”
“Why the sudden interest?”
“You can’t leave,” he sighed, “You just can’t.”
“I don’t have a choice-”
“You always have a choice. Just like you chose to be Sp-”
“I think the law is just a little different from being a vigilante. I could be wrong, but-”
You were caught off guard by Peter pulling you into a hug. This was new, he’s never done this before. Normally you two awkwardly fist bumped or high-fived. Peter was too shy and too awkward for anything else.
“Oh, uh, okay.”
You slowly wrapped your arms around peter and rested your head on his shoulder. You felt safe and secure, and you wondered if he felt the same. He had to. Either way, you didn’t want it to end.
You wanted to stay here and just let Peter know that nothing will ever hurt him again. You wanted to tell him how you felt. You just wanted to stay with him. He made you feel strong when you didn’t even want to say the word weak. You didn’t want to seem cliche and say you needed him, but you did. Peter was home to you.
He was there for you after your mom died, even though tyou hadn’t told him why you were upset, he just assumed you were stressed about school. You two obviously were there for each other after the freak accidents that turned you into these weird scientific miracles or abominations, depending on who you ask.
“Just don’t leave. Okay?”
“I’ll try not to.”
Peter clung to you a little tighter, as if you were really his rock and he was about to be swept away and into the unforgiving sea. There’s so much he still wanted to tell you if he got the chance. He wanted to tell you how he felt, how wonderful he thought you were. He wanted to tell you that you were right. Things do happen for a reason.
Everything that happened with his parents. Everything that’s happened since moving in with May and Ben. Everything that happened to Ben. As bittersweet as it was to say, it was all meant to happen. Becoming Spider-man? Also meant to happen. Meeting you, being with you, falling in love with you? He wouldn’t trade it for anything. He understands that now.
“It’s getting late.” you said quietly.
Peter sighed a little, still holding you in his warm embrace. He smiled a little, enjoying the moment, and he promised himself to enjoy any moment like this from now on. If you did have to leave, even after everything, there was one thing Peter would not hesitate to tell you. You were the best thing that has ever happened to him.
“Just a little longer.”
