I don't think we talk about how Thomas knew Daisy (arrived on Sodor in 1960) and Mavis (arrived on Sodor around 1952-1962) so early like. Does it colour his perception of diesels? Was he listening to James or someone prattle off about how evil diesels are as a whole and remember Daisy and Mavis and go "What on EARTH are you TALKING ABOUT?!"

this makes me so mad
Ramattra mine controlling omnics has to be the single stupidest plot point I've ever seen in a work of fiction in my entire life. It's giving 'this radical extremist trying to liberate his people and create a better world for them is going to be too based. people are going to say he is so real for that.' but it's also giving 'sci-fi world where we kill evil robots like in helldiver's 2 is more profitable. make him eviler.'
Here's why it makes absolutely no sense for Rammatra to mine control omnics:
Resorting to mind control and manipulation implies that there are no sentient omnics with his same ideas and mindset. It implies that NOBODY is willing to join him and that otherwise he would be alone. This is not true. It's just not there's no chance there are zero omnics who agree with his line of thinking.
Null Sector has control of at least one omnium, and Ram is an engineer. He is able to build non-sentient bots to be canon fodder, he does not need the sentient ones. He would not let more of his people die when the job is better suited for non-thinking robots who can be mass produced. The bots the omnium produced were outdated but if they took control of the omnium they most certainly could update the blue prints to be stronger. He literally built his nemesis form dude. Imagine an army of nemesis bots. That'd be terrifying. Shit load scarier than. a couple of zombie zenyattas without the god powers.
Mind controlling omnics to send them to their deaths is so stupid. It's so against what he believes. I don't think there's ANY good reason for them to have gone this route with him! It is fucking stupid. I hate it. The 'he became too radicalized' thing is dumb . it's dumb.
(also this isn't a 'rammattra is perfect and has never ever done anything wrong in his entire life' post. but I also do not think he deserves to be the story's main villain when Talon is right there.)
a few edits: I reread some of the lore after getting questions and realized that it isn't explicitly stated what the helmets r doing. there are implications that it's a "if they won't join null sector on their own accord we will... convince them" type vibe. I'm hoping they don't go down this route and instead go with like.
the one I think would be interesting is they're uploading Omnic consciousness to a data bank so that their souls are not confined to a single body and even if they're destroyed their sentience will live on to be put into another body or something. I think that'd be cool but honestly unlikely.

hey guys have my wild magnus protocol theory that stemmed from me just overanalyzing the little bits of content we have
i think lena is a homunculus.
(spoilers for the pilot and jonny + alex’s post pilot discussion under the cut)
basically this stems from. a lot of places w small amounts of information so some of this might be stretches. But
1. a lot of marketing around protocol mentions the theme of “what does it mean to be a person?” which. leads me to believe there’s gonna be a plot around a protag being Not Human but has the heart or whatever the fuck. standard pinnochio or wizard of oz story. sure youre not human but ur a person bc of xyz free will or whatever
2. lena’s behavior in the pilot is So odd and almost inhuman in its extremely dull corporate jargon way. she literally uses things like “you can file a complaint” or “here at the oiar we….” (advertiser shit) , in genuine conversation. she doesn’t leave the building, either and has a Generic office party.
im genuinely thinking bureaucracy and the weird eldritch stuff of the oiar is Literally all she knows, not that shes being manipulative and evil in the trailer like elias; she doesn’t or maybe cannot question the whole. asking sam about the eldritch trauma thing, something something cant understand human emotions and why that might be troubling.
also “people like chocolate cake.” that sounds weird and something someone with only base knowledge of humanity would say.
she’s described as “an odd one” by jonny and that we will “get her soon”. im under the full belief that shes the non-human character of the bunch thatll yknow. have the Real Boy plot
3. homunculus specifically comes from all the alchemy shit around protocol, and homunculi are some of the most famous alchemical creations in popular culture, and i think she’s not. an entity creation. lenas too much of an important character to just be like. tied to An Entity, as a main character extremely tied to the OIAR, that entity would have to be the basis of like the entire plot of protocol; which i doubt theyd do.
the eye is so important to archives because the themes of archives was the consequences of knowledge- the entire plot was engineered around the Eye as the Main Character Entity and the Eye was written to be that in turn, sorta similarly to how Griffindor is the Main Character House (TM) of HP with its themes of bravery. i doooont think the oiar is tied to the stranger or flesh or any other simulacrum creating entities.
all that to say i think lena is a different kind of artificial human, one that’s manmade rather than entity made yknow?
we get glances of the people above her in status, theres mentions of an ephemeral “he” in the pilot, so. heres what i think
the He in question is an alchemist whose in charge of the OIAR (and maybe other branches but lets focus w the oiar). He created Lena the homunculus to be the middle manager of the branch in his stead; “programming” her to be as dull and corporate as possible to keep the employees in line or whatever. something something shes got a plot wrestling with that and her inherent lack of persondom
EDIT: totally forgot this part
adding that the first statement’s plot was about an abomination of corpses given a humanlike shape and coming back wrong which is. exactly what frankenstein’s monster is, and frankenstein’s monster is considered a homunculus.
with the anglerfish’s importance to season 3 of archives i definitely think the Arthur monster will come up again in some form, but maybe instead of Actually being In Podcast maybe its a parallel to the main characters’ story in the same way that many s4 statements were used to give us more information on how jon is working through it all. the zombie statement when he just wakes up comes to mind especially. maybe it’s a hint and echo of what a Character in podcast (lena) is

the zenith of antisemitism: the Samson Option conspiracy and western foreign policy
as much as antisemitism is based in old tropes that took off with the diaspora in europe, esp during the middle ages, it is important to keep up with the new iterations of old conspiracies. not every piece of antisemitism is as consequential in scale - some things are local, others are regional; others are unprecedented and global.
lately and since oct 7th, antizionism is becoming the main productive engine of antisemitism because through western disinformation and propaganda, islamic-country apologists of terror and jihad can use the western progressive movements to dress up antisemitism in the rhetoric of anticolonialism, anti-liberalism, anti-imperialism.
then, these movements do the exact opposite of the values they purport, promoting islamofascism, arab imperialism and theocracy - economically and through international institutions (like UNRWA and the ICC) - these groups seek first and foremost to hurt israelis. as a side-effect, it also makes western jews and israelis more reactionary, from xenophobic trauma reactions and personal/demographic isolation. even the internet is becoming a place of 'online ghettos'.
the jewish democracy is held to a double standard that dehumanizes jews among any other group of people. every human group can have a national existence, but jews. every human group can have a religion or patriotism while being loyal to a republic, but jews. when it is the most vulnerable, the antisemites attacks grow more vicious. when jews and israelis are stronger, they play dumb and harmless.
antisemitism surges when jewish populations are in peril or literally hostage to a sworn enemy. when "ceasefire" becomes, 'keep the hostages', full-out war becomes the only existential choice, but at the same time war is demonized as aggression.
an old enemy rises too. in america, the country with the largest christian population, the christian right with white nationalist and christofascist groups (both protestant and catholic) are more than willing to take advantage of this moment of confusion and plausible deniability, with the left having normalized 'anti-zionist' slurs.
they are now doing so by accusing israel of plotting to nuke not iran or palestine, but the west, in line with canards of jewish power in government and 'double loyalties'. phrases like "israel first" are used to describe the establishment by right-wing groups that are no longer that fringe.
The Sampson Option refers to a strategy attributed to Israel, where, in the event of an existential threat or imminent destruction, Israel would retaliate with its nuclear arsenal, causing catastrophic damage not only to its enemies but potentially risking global repercussions. The term is derived from the biblical story of Samson, who, in his final act, brought down the pillars of a Philistine temple, killing himself and his enemies.
why? why does anyone say an enemy is going to destroy them first?
well, to justify obliteration. not of israel but of "zionists", of course. obviously so that (left-leaning) western governments can become persuaded to cripple israel first, and to cripple it hard (economically, militarily, technologically), and to tolerate first deplatforming 'zionist support' and ultimately, down the line, marginalizing the jewish identity in politics.
i.e. it is not the world/"us" (americans, westerners, the international institutions) that conspire against jews - it is jews that conspire against the entire world - this is the ultimate form of the antisemitic canard in the nuclear era, before the shadow of wwiii
genocide of jews becomes "self-defense". this is the zenith of antisemitism in human history. something that has no precedent, the ultimate form of holocaust reversal conspiracy aimed to have the international community not just exclude but fight israel and, ultimately, neutralize jewish agency altogether.

All of M3ph1st0's prosthetics - A comprehensive summary.
Mephisto is disabled in multiple ways. It is also a huge nerd and a big transhumanism fan who happens to know about a lot of robotics. That all being said, they have augmented themselves in many ways. Here's all of them, going from the top [Content warning for discussion of organs, surgery and like. Slight body horror that doesn't make sense. Don't worry about it !]
Main functionality ones:
Arm and Legs – Self explanatory. They help him get to places and work on things, also the oldest ones out of all his works given they've just been consistently upgraded to better suit all his needs. Each limb has a name (Leonard, Leslie (legs), and Hal (Arm/hand)), and they all care dearly for their creator because even though it might be programmed into them, Mephisto doesn't just treat them as disposable tools. They also have tiny android forms for when they're not assisting 310 and are free to walk around/opinionate on anything they want to. Mephisto treats them better than it does an Average Person.
Spinal support — Another one that helps quite a bit. Standing up for too long or sitting down the wrong ways causes Mephisto a lot of pain, so they made a device to help them with remembering to take care of themselves in that regard. Enter, Simon: The spinal support bot that connects directly to their back through a simple mechanism around the back. Simon is divided in two parts– A small battery-bot that charges up everything, that can detach itself from the main component any time it runs low on juice and slither around if it wants, and the inbuilt structure, which is what forces Mrphisto's back to stay put together and pulls it back in case it slouches too much (happens Often).
Non-organic Organs — After getting literally brought back to life by A Curse, the shitty old magic from a thousand years ago didn't account for how organ failure would happen in case a body that was cold and lifeless came back swinging from the dead, and as such a lot of Mephisto's organs function weirdly/stop at random times. These were a necessity it didn't expect at first, but had to quickly figure out. They're mostly made of flexible synthetic material the body wouldn't reject, and took several dozens of attempts on other people to perfect before they could be inserted into its own body. Essentially just keep everything in function while also giving him some benefits he built into them, such as:
Being able to digest non-edible things through brand new stomach upgrade that now lines his insides with Bigger and Better acid that is only found in skags. And Mephisto now. No more tummy aches due to tummy now being made out of Actual Steel.
Heart now has extra pumps to help with weakness and fatigue without overpowering any functions. Also sounds a little weird whenever you press your head to its chest due to there being a Small Sized Engine in there
Awesome brain implant that doesn't allow for biological death to happen anymore through constant manipulation of grey mass and stimulation of neurons. and that has no ethical concerns attached to it. Don't worry about it too hard !
Full intestinal system update where most of it is replaced by a series of tubes that can continue functioning as normal with filtering and breaking down masses. And that body only complains Sometimes about.
Lung inserts that can distribute miniscule electricity pulses throughout the whole chest in order to keep them breathing and healthy. It was a doozy to install this one but hey, now breathing is finally automatic as it should be.
...And some others that aren't nearly as interesting, but that help nonetheless. How was Mephisto able to perform surgery on itself? The short answer is it didn't, its limbs did with help from a supercomputer on the feiling. Are its limbs qualified to do surgery? Who was the supercomputer? How many surgeries did it take to insert everything? Is there a lot of visible scarring for it? All great questions that you will never know the answer to because Mephisto will throw things at you if you ask them.
Lesser functionality ones.
Metallic throat insert — This one was mainly from paranoia of being choked or being bitten directly on the throat, but it doubles as many things. Not only does it protect Mephisto from attacks to the larynx and windpipe specifically, it's also got an in-built AAC device for communication even when the old vocal chords can't seem to muster anything up. Great for pissing off ventriloquists also.
Better Teeth that Don't Rot and Break due to Being Made Out Of Metal (Or just Upgraded Dentures / Jaw) — Self explanatory, I feel. Forgot to brush their teeth a lot during depressive periods and ran into many issues regarding that, and so decided the only way to get that fix was to get Better, Cooler teeth over those (once they got fixed up) that are retractable and can be made Sharper at a given brain command. Used to bite its tongue a lot due to this and it bled like a motherfucker, which Led to:
Tongue That Doesn't Hurt anymore — Again, self explanatory. Again, took a while to get used to, but ended up solving so many problems it didn't matter anymore. This one is more just a cover than a full-on replacement because that would hurt way too much and there was no guarantee it'd work for good without the original muscles. It did, but it was one of the scarier things Mephisto did to itself.
Now you might be thinking, "Magnus, that's an awful lot of things. How'd Mephisto get funding to do all that stuff? Or find material? Or even just do them in general, given they seem so far out of the realm of possibility?", and these are all pretty good questions, how did you know to ask them etc. But Let me try and answer them as much as possible without too many spoilers:
Mephisto works for anyone who gives it money. Sometimes its corporations (Whom they immediately steal info and material from also), sometimes it's individual people looking to buy things off their shop, sometimes its evil villains who need all sorts of machinery for their plans. He's not particularly picky with the source, so long as its consistent and upfront.
Refer to bullet point one. It is Stealing most of the time, but when it isn't, material is coming from either their own scavenging trips or from teams they specifically pay to find material and bring it to them.
Borderlands isn't real and the absurdity is part of what makes it one of my favorite things, but also, again. Supercomputer did it for them. It's probably fine !
#Magart#Magoriginals#Magocs#txt#my oc stuff#art#my art#myart#writing#writers on tumblr#my writing#original art#original character#oc#my ocs#fan character#fan oc#fanart#fandom art#borderlands oc#Oc: Mephisto#Caede Tales#Body horror#I had a sudden burst of inspiration. enjoy Mephisto and their fucked up upgrades#lore dump#puts this here and doesn't elaborate on it st all

I'm glad that you enjoy daily brainrot as much as I do. :) I look forward to 7:00 pm every day because that's when I start typing things up in your askbox. I even have a designated section of my notes app to make sure I don't forget things before brainrot time rolls around.
Also, the fic that I wrote about Warriors having low blood pressure/low blood sugar has bitten me in the butt because now I'm under official orders to solve the exact same problem with almost exactly the same solution that was proposed in the fic. The Ao3 author's curse has finally gotten to me.
I'm fine, it's just very funny to me that literally a month ago I poked around and made up a fantasy Gatorade recipe that I forced upon the poor guy. To be honest, I wouldn't trust Wild and Sky's first attempt, either. Anyway, since I don't trust my own fantasy Gatorade recipe (look, orange juice and salty water can't taste very good) I'm going to try and get something from the store or at least some flavoring from the store.
Getting on to proper brainrot territory, I've been thinking about the suggestion you gave me about writing Time (that he's just the older version of Mask) and I think I'll be able to swing it if I can just get my paragraphs in order. I have some nice snippets here and there that I've written out, it just needs to be organized and properly lined up.
Related to that, I have been considering the development of STEM in the different eras (the arts can wait for another day). Slightly off-topic, the main reason why there's so much Warriors & Sky & Wild in my Emotional Support Loftwing fics is because I feel that they'd have the most medical knowledge because they're knights. Warriors was a soldier in charge of 2 kids, knights in Skyloft were about as close to first responders as you could get, and Wild was the personal knight/bodyguard to Princess Zelda right around the apocalypse.
The others also have fairly good reasons to know stuff, but I feel like the overlap of knight training and the information available in their eras is significant enough to make a difference. This is a whole thing to me, and I will die on this hill willingly.
But back to the point. I think that Warriors' era was probably the closest to the Renaissance, Age of Enlightenment, or whatever it's called. That period in time when people were learning stuff left and right. The scientific method has been thoroughly established, people are starting to consider technology more, medical knowledge is being expanded to better society, and the war is making all of this happen at an accelerated pace because that's what happens during war. It's a documented phenomenon.
Skyloft, on the other hand, is much smaller and more isolated. They're very self-contained, so I feel like their knowledge is more likely long-term accumulation of information. There are fewer people to study subjects and peer-review things, so I think they've got more advancements in subjects like math and certain types of engineering and architecture. Medicine probably sticks closer to treating injuries from accidents and management of acute and chronic diseases.
Of course, Wild's era is really weird so it's kind of hard to say what all they have exactly, but I feel like most of their STEM stuff leans into technology, engineering, and the natural sciences (biology, geology, etc.) based on what I know of Purah and Flora. I think most medical knowledge or other hyper-specific information would have been salvaged based on the whole apocalypse thing with the Calamity. I also don't know exactly how the Shrine of Resurrection works, but I don't think he'd have forgotten how to do things like math, he just lost his memories. So he'd still have any first aid knowledge he got during his training. And I've seen some cool ideas in fics about the Shrine of Resurrection and the Slate using data for the magic-y stuff, and if that's the case, then maybe the weird blue Shrine juice was just liquid information. Maybe Wild knows a little bit too much about certain topics that Flora is 99% sure weren't part of his training program. (I also think Wild's era has the most information on seizures, but that's because of ✨the vibes✨ and not a specific detail.)
I look forward to 7:00 pm every day because that's when I start typing things up in your askbox <- ALDKDWKKFL I start frantically checking my askbox around 8 😭
The Ao3 author's curse has finally gotten to me <- NOOOOO im so sorry 😔
I have some nice snippets here and there that I've written out, it just needs to be organized and properly lined up <- oooooooh thats good!!
I feel that they'd have the most medical knowledge because they're knights <- YESSSSSSSSSSSS YES YES YES
Warriors' era was probably the closest to the Renaissance, Age of Enlightenment, or whatever it's called <- IM SO WITH YOU ON THIS
They're very self-contained, so I feel like their knowledge is more likely long-term accumulation of information <- I SO AGREE
I feel like most of their STEM stuff leans into technology, engineering, and the natural sciences (biology, geology, etc.) <- yes yes yes yes i love how you broke all this down and the different areas of knowledge you’re so right i agree with you 100%
THANK YOU FOR THE BRAINROT :3

how do you imagine ancients like governments worked? how was society divided?
i think it was divided in three main groups in general - higher, middle and lower circles.
the higher circles usually held the most important (being involved in iterator projects, holding power over decisions of what's made, etc) and safe (shit that isn't hella risky and could end up killing you in a freak accident 95% of the time) jobs and had more power. there's a certain pearl that mentions "pure braid heritage" (voids i need to keep sorting all the lore pearls into categories so i can go through my own notes instead of cross-referencing the wiki constantly), so i could imagine having pure heritage from a house would also generally give you more political power and importance. they'd have the most political power and have a say in everything, especially iterator projects and other important projects. certain houses would most likely hold more power than others, too. i also like to think their masks were very detailed! here's an excerpt from what i have written on that in my notes:
higher circles have very detailed masks that can resemble birds of prey, mythical creatures or apex predators - but most don't resemble anything at all. they commonly had thin headpieces, either short or long, or tubes connected to their mask (most were cosmetic, but some were quite literally feeding tubes). many - generally the masks of the 'most important' higher circle members (though it doesn't matter much; even the 'less important' higher circle members are included.) had extra accessories such as embedded gems, pearls (think the chieftan scavenger's mask or the scavenger toll skulls), pieces of fabric that imitate banners tied to headpieces and stained glass planted in to carved-in details (though much more too; these are just simple examples). it was also not uncommon to their masks going down their neck. some had colorful patterns painted or carved in and then painted on their masks. most would always wear their masks in public and even in private (hence some having feeding tubes), and even partial masks for higher circles were very close to being full masks.
it's not all of it (i'm still working on writing it down- and it may be a little incoherent, it's just my thoughts), but it is most.
middle circles were pretty average, middle of the line. had the most jobs to pick from and weren't that important politically or socially, just your average citizens, but could vote to sway the opinion a little if allowed/asked by the higher circles. they were treated fairly, but regarded as lower than the higher circles. some were probably treated nearly the same as higher circles, dependant on who it was. probably had some of the more riskier jobs, but not the "will outright kill you if something goes wrong" yknow. i also have notes on their masks! they'd probably wear partial masks most of the time and only wear full masks whenever something important is happening. i doubt any middle circles would have full masks with feeding tubes, hah!
lower circles were either outright ignored, given little chance to state opinions, or just treated poorly. clear power imbalance bjust etween lower circles and middle circles. usually they'd be the ones handling crops and the like, generally "important" things, though they could definently be automated. it's just to have them do something, probably. they'd also be handling more of the way dangerous things, though there would be a few cases were lower circle members were mechanics for iterators 'n the like out of sheer luck or just because they actually have the skill for it.
i'd imagine some certain communities are outta the norm and have it split up in how important the work you did instead of the whole higher, middle and lower circles! author/creator in an iterator project, head bio-engineer, chief mechanic, etc - such come to mind. everyone would be pretty equal though! as long as you didn't outright kill someone unprompted, because Void Forbid you don't allow them to ascend and have them Reincarnated as a Mindless Beast!
hope that makes sense, sometimes i do ramble a lot and start to get a little incoherent

"jealous it wasn't you who did it this time, sinestro?" he huffs. "get in line, will you?"
the sarcasm in his tone is palpable as jordan braces against the nearest surface, an arm limp against the construct cast woven from will's color, its corresponding side burning like fire in what he assumes to be multiple fractures. he's had just enough of them before that he can recognize it, which is, by all means, a worrisome way of measuring injury, but it's all hal has at hand right now. for all his ring isn't dead, any lantern worth their salt knows exactly how difficult it is to keep multiple constructs through injury and right now, his main priority is to fix what is a recon mission gone increasingly wrong.
first, getting caught by enemy fire (and narrowly avoiding worse fate than fractures with his force shield to lessen the impact of his fall right into orbit and, well, the ground) while scouting space, now getting found by thaal sinestro of all people. his former mentor, current nemesis, all around menace. most days, if they met, hal would be certain he could take any fight, any insult, but right now, flying solo, with little chance of reinforcement or outmaneuvering someone that, on a good day, is on his level? it's grim.
if sinestro wants a fight right now, the odds are against him.
he knows.
it doesn't lessen the edge of his tongue any.
a distraction. he needs a distraction from the pain and the pressing issues at hand as he tries to focus enough to send a silent distress signal to the corps. banter seems like the best option, if perhaps not the smartest."what are you even doing in this sector, anyway? scheming? in cahoots with the pirates that got me here in first place? bit of a low blow even for your standards, pal."
The dimwitted, artless jab makes Thaal's blood boil- in a way beyond the norm he doesn't care to think on- but brushes it off with a slight twitch of his lip. As always, Hal has offered up a plethora of options for rebuttal, and while it may be briefly rewarding to twist the metaphorical knife in his quite literal wound, he doesn’t desire a fight.
Not with him, at least. Not in this moment.
"You truly are a moron to think such prosaic animals could have anything of interest to me." Ask all that he may, he isn't owed an explanation; Thaal is not some commonplace criminal to be interrogated.
A distant thoom far overhead splits Thaal's attention, eyes remaining fixed on the man in front of him while his ears pin back slightly. The sound of atmospheric breach isn't at all surprising, but it still puts him on even higher alert. Jordan crashing into his enterprise is problem enough- any further interferences are strictly out of the question.
Dimming his own uniform's glow with a thought, Thaal summons a construct tendril to wrap around Hal's upper arm- the uninjured one, how polite- and yank him along back into the dense foliage the Korugaran had first emerged from. Making sure he's slingshot into an almost comically plush looking shrub, dampening both the sound of impact and (hopefully) Hal's inevitable complaints. Just to be certain, the tendril morphs into a solid strip of light across that insufferable mouth, extending to hook around his ears and under his chin. Taking advantage of the momentary stillness- it's only a matter of time before it's broken again- Thaal listens close for any disturbances in the planet’s natural soundscape and quickly picks out the distant, aerial sound of an engine. But after only a couple beats, it fortunately begins to fade until inaudible.
They have a general idea of where Hal crashed, but nothing to track emotional energy. Ideally, the simpletons will lead themselves on a 'wild goose chase' as it were, giving him ample time to plot this sizeable detour.
Satisfied with this conclusion, Thaal's shoulders loosen minutely, the construct disappearing entirely with a disparaging tut from its source.
"Pirates." He turns to face Hal- stopping halfway through the motion for less than a microsecond- with a frown that does nothing to lessen his palpable smugness. "Really, of all the opponents to fall to. What was that about 'low blows?'"
There is no will strong enough in the multiverse to resist a little dig at that arrogant Earthman. But the ideas of what he'll do to said pirates percolating in the back of his mind are much more interesting at present.
#Contact Established : threads#1rstflight#The Un-Hierophant : Sinestro#A Cyclical Tragedy- But I Always Want More : Thaal/Hal#[ I. have no clue what he's snooping around for but don't worry about sjdjjsks ]

Perfect 10 liners ep 3 (spoilers)
I swear to god i thought i made this post like 3 days ago wtf.
first note, even though i have not posted anything re: the first two episodes, I will say that i currently like the show. I am fully treating this show as three shows packed up in one show. (I'm thinking skam where the seasons were following the same people but different main characters each season except this show does not have seasons)
I originally was not sure if i wanted to watch this show, aside from force and book I dont really know much about the other two ships and even still i havent really watched many force book shows fully so i was fully convinced i wouldnt like the show
Theres still a chance i wont like the show but right now the first two episodes have been funny. yeah I know, im a sucker for silly goofy sound effects and cuts and this show is doing it. its also (i think) the same director as we are and I LOVED we are so we'll see!
I think it is interesting that Arc likes Arm and is actually going for it, unlike most shows where theyll beat around the bush around this, I cant wait for Arc to "find out" that Arm was the one who posted that photo of him because i am fully convinced he already knows and is so ready to mess with Arm when he "finds out" (though i hope hes not too mean about this)
ANYWAY, ONTO THE THIRD EPISODE!
not me saying that i was interested in the arm arc storyline only for the show to IMMEDIATELY switch off of their story line sigh
nvm i spoke too soon, back to arrmarc! NOT PUN AND JET KNOWING LOL THATS SO CUTE
also not the new car being a product placement
i also find it lowkey INSANE that this man got you into an accident, said he would never hurt you again, and then all of a sudden youre so fine with it. Like not even a little bit of "you know what, give me like a week before i get into your car" i know this is probably for us to see and assume that Arm already likes Arc even though he won't admit it but like… girl this man is being lowkey (highkey) rude af and mean to you and i get that youre idk,,, pushing it off because hes your senior but like i do not CARE how senior someone is to me and how much i like someone, if they got me into an accident, im probably not going in their car for a while.
NOT THE AGGRSSIVE TYPING "dont forget to apply the medicine :p"
I also found this restaurant part so out of the blue? I know hes all like "well you said youre getting to know me now" but like bro you are in a sweaty ass jersey right now like go to either home or a street stall where there isnt an expectation on being dressed fancy.
fish on the balcony? 😭
poor po being stuck between two lovesick boys (bro is literally me)
if Arc thinks that this heart rate is "racing" bro would probably think i was dying if he heard my resting heart rate.
oh 😃 thats one way to end an episode. bro really said, yeah im gonna give my gear to you (because we will be dating) Im lowkey getting sotus vibes from their relationship at least right now. Like one mean guy who is the older senior and also has the explicit (kinda) role of taking care of the junior in terms of academics and school life and then a stubborn junior and also the giving of the gear (which ive heard is like a cultural think kinda so i cant really see that and be like OMG
ITS SOTUS!!!) but uh (cultural may not be the word im looking for but i feel like in canadian eng programs (dont wanna be to general and say all canadian university programs) we dont really have something like this, where you get something from the school and give it to the person you are dating as like a cute thing, maybe a canadian can correct me if im wrong tho) the confidence on this man i wish i had even half of that
FINAL THOUGHTS
once again another engineering show making me (an engineering student) feel lonely and sad about my own life 💀
i feel like i dont have any insight on this episode (not that i ever have) but maybe as the show goes on and i get used to making these posts again i will
that being said, I am sick and gosh darn tired of this fucking trope (?) where you can be mean to someone as a way of "flirting" with the other person. I mean even po and sand were all like "if I didnt know any better i'd think hes flirting with you" like maybe its just difference in cultures but if a friend came up to me and talked about someone in the way that Arm was talking about Arc in the first two episodes i would stongly encourage that friend to stay the fuck away from that person, like why are we making it okay again to bully people as a way of flirting with them (i guess you could argue that in this case its less bullying and more like teasing (which whatever) but my point still stands, i wish that shows would do this trope less or at the very least have some genuine consequences to this bad behaviour. and NO getting Arm hurt in the car accident is not a consequence to Arc for his bad behaviour, like sure he felt guilty about it but obviously Arm had no grudges held against him for that (i'm talking i want genuine serious like… idk how to put it. and this show may not be the best example ( again, maybe this is more teasing than it is bullying) but if someone treated me as bad as some main characters treat their love interest they would not be getting a chance from me (to which you might argue, "well if you like that person before then even if theyre mean to you they would get a chance" but thats often not the case in these shows, like main character 1 is mean for no fucking reason and main character 2 is like i hate you…. wait a minute I LOVE YOU!!! and there is no real consequence to main character 1s actions, they have no real reason to change)) but anyway thats neither here nor their as i am currently liking this show but given the time that the show is taking place (2 main couples are already established) i am wondering i… idk i forgot what i was gonna say

Hi fellow doll, I hope you're doing fine. I've been quite busy lately, college and life in general have been kicking my ass, so I was forced to take a step back from social media for a while to try to contain the chaos.
Firstly, I'd like to share a fun fact with you! I don't know if you're aware but did you know that Lou's Mansion has a Pool? You can see it more clearly in the Mansion's Concept Designs/Art on this site:
However, the real reason for this ask is to present a possible answer/theory in regards to how the doll-sized phones came to be in the world of your stories (you can tell this is still related to our chat on Wattpad).
Recently, I came across the images you're seeing on Pinterest. They're Wide/Aerial Views of the Institute of Perfection and one thing that immediately stood out to me is that Giant Eye-Catching Dome behind the TV.
I mean what's its purpose, why is it even there to begin with and what's inside of it? I've been thinking about this for a while and would like to hear your thoughts about it as well, if you're willing to share them.
By any chance, have you seen the movie Wreck-it Ralph? There was a part where the villain enters the code of the game he's in and I think the Dome's purpose could follow a similar, if not equal, vein.
Now that I think about it, Lou and Vanellope's circunstances are almost identical, trapped in the same place for years without the option to leave, simply because of who they are and the traits they were born with, but didn't choose to have.
Sorry, I let my mind run on tangent there for a while, it wanders frequently which makes it hard to keep track of my line of thought.
To circle back to the main topic of discussion, what if the Dome is a Central Station of the Institute, like a Panel or Center for Command Control (or Command Control Center)? CCC for short? Ok, I'll stop trying to be funny...
Perhaps it could be a subroutine of the factory's software, a program linked to its network and wifi that contains all guidelines and rules that govern the Institute and must be followed and executed to keep it functional - a blueprint if you will - and is in charge of all commands, protocols, activities and operations being compiled and run by its machinery, such as the doll-scanner, the robots, the washing machine, the recycling, the Gauntlet plus the mechanical baby and dog and the Portal, just to name a few.
This means that it'd also take care of overseeing the integrity and performance of said machinery as well as its maintenance. It'd even be responsible for generating clouds and the artificial weather because apparently weather is still a thing, even though the Institute is inside of a factory.
I wonder if this subroutine would be run by an AI or simply an intelligent system/computer program. This world's version of Siri? 🤣
Or maybe I'm greatly exaggerating its function/letting my imagination run wild and it literally only gives Electricity for TV and Institute. Where was I going with this? /were we again?
Morever, it could be a storage unit that contains all collected, analysed and reviewed data regarding the inhabitants of the Institute and their responses, physical or emotional, to certain pre-determined stimuli.
It could also have a list of the factory's Perfection Standards: what consists/constitutes a Perfect Doll / product, its traits...
what can go to the market and which flaws/imperfections can't be ignored/overlooked and have to go to the recycling immediately, kinda like separating fruit/food
To sum up, it's the Institute's "rulebook", but instead of being specifically made for the prototype, it's more expansive and focuses on the Institute as a whole.
After the events of the movie, dolls with engineer role job created phones with recicled parts dangerous/turned the recycling into a good thing/while recycling was turned of and parts are human sized, plenty to spare and create phone since dolls come back now, have free time to assemble the parts and construct them and connected them to the signals/frequency emitted by the dome or they hack/steal or find out the password/'hijack' the signals🤣, use it to make them connect with each other but can't enter the dome without proper authorizations/permissions
Fun fact #2: Lou animatronic, would be a hipocrite if he called the Uglydolls "Ugly" has never seen a Mirror before

Had to restart Two Times... I hope you found this ask both entertaining and informative. Hopefully it'll give you Inspiration for your stories...
Okay, I had to do quite a bit of research and asked someone who knows a lot more about computers than I do.
So, I do agree that the dome has an electronic purpose. It really surprises me that STX animated an entire dome within the Institute and literally spoke nothing of it or what's inside of it. Like, seriously, it's huge and can't just be empty on the inside.
My theory, after some research, is that the inside of the dome is essentially a hard drive computer tower. For you younger folk who weren't raised in a 90's home, here's what I'm talking about:
These things right here used to be what would get hooked up to older Dell/Windows computers. The ones that weighed, like, 50 pounds and took up an entire desk.
Instead of a dvd player (which I didn't get one until maybe 8 years old) I would stick my Kidz Bop cd or movie into that slot at the top and watch the movie on the computer with Video Player.
Count your blessings.
But this is what I believe is inside that dome. These things are what holds the CPU (central processing unit), GPU (graphic processing unit), and stores the memory, data, audio, and everything of the computer.
@natalie-the-writer and I have a running fanon that the company is older. The technology is older, the building is older, and everything is set in a pretty retro time period. So, this hard drive tower is connected to those bulky take-up-all-the-space-on-the-desk-computers.
The GPU in this system is also what control the day/night cycle in the Institute and the weather. It essentially simulates a troposphere and an environment that makes the dolls comfortable and prepared for the Big World.
The CPU is how the data is transferred. Info from the robots is controlled and processed, the Individualization scanners are monitored, the portal is opened and closed, the TV runs, and the holographic tutorials Moxy and her friends see in the beginning are kept on, all of it.
It basically functions as the brain of the Institute, but the sole controller and monitor of it is the CEO (Greyson Everett).
I also like to think that Lou's microchip (another fanon thought between Natalie and I) is also monitored via this hard drive tower. Any information that Lou learns and processes is sent into separate files on the computers back in the company building.
This is why in my Shell-Shock series, when Lou's emotions go south, the Institute begins to get windy when he's hyperventilating or rains when he cries. The ground trembles when he has body tremors and the lights flicker when his powers are used. He is literally connected to the whole Institute because his microchip and its data accidentally grow and manifest themselves into the files of the other Institute functions. His programming basically goes rogue and infects the Institute system like a virus.
I'm veering toward the explanation that results in Lou being the first successful form of Artificial Intelligence. But, for the moment, he is basically acting like a virus and it's not until he learns to control this new system he's connected to that it stops becoming a deadly thing.

types of weapons the hunters would use pt. 2
this time, the draw sword guild, definitely not my favorites :)
goto ryuji:
his sword is really cool, actually. a very nice ruby red. i think he would have a long sword and short sword (kind of like the daisho, a matched pair of japanese swords). otherwise, he would just use his hands. or his teeth. i think he just doesn't really care too much about how it's done, as long as it gets done
sugimoto reiji:
it's not stated in the manhwa what class he is, so i head canon him as an assassin because i think there's only one or two that are canon. so, i think he would have a dagger for short-range kills, and kunai and shuriken for long-range kills (slightly inspired by genji from overwatch's kunai and shuriken setup - the green even matches his usual suit...)
tanaka kenzo:
his fists suit him as a tank-esque fighter. if not that, then brass knuckles (slightly inspired by seo seongun from lookism... beloved...) also i just think he likes to get hands on with things, if him during the jeju arc gives us any clue what his fighting style is like
tawata kanae:
i think a two-sided spear or scimitar would be cool. she also has double blades as it is, so i think she just likes working with two instead of one. higher level of efficiency and all
as i was adding photos... i realized... what this was inspired by... lmao
yeah. that fits her for sure
fujishima tatsumi:
i think he would use things more for looks rather than efficiency, so anything cool or unique... a scythe seems up his alley. something like ruby's scythe (especially because it also works as a gun - and i think the engineering mind i've head canoned for him would love to fiddle with that and make it abysmally powerful)
ishida mari:
i headcanon him as a ranger because i think there's literally only taegyu otherwise. so he would use a compact bow as his main weapon (inspired by the chiron form of the coronacht bow), but he also uses a rapier. he strikes me as a rich kid that studied abroad in london and learned fencing (i know it's really specific but those are just the vibes i get)
shimizu akari:
she has her giant golden battle axe. i also think she would know boxing, so she has short-ranged hand-to-hand combat down
kumamoto atsushi:
he doesn't really need a weapon, since he has a strange fighting style, and i headcanon he transforms like yoonho. but... something blunt, like a mace or a club. maybe nunchucks? or something similar to the playful cloud weapon from jujutsu kaizen?
hamada kei:
they're an ice type mage, so they have a varied attack pattern, but i think they would like a bowstaff or a baton (inspired by nami's clima tact from one piece. it even has the bonus of controlling the weather through temperature - which kei can... sorta do, lmao). something to easily knock-out any monsters that get near them so they can run before they throw up. really, it's more of a back up weapon, since they would take anything out before it got too close to them (inspired by this video!)
izawa ippei:
the actual canon assassin. well, i headcanon he likes collecting all sorts of weapons and learning how to use them, but his go-to would be something slightly ranged, like a spear (inspired by maki's from jujutsu kaizen) or a scythe (i think something simple like the one from soul eater would suit him best)
hoshino minoru:
i also headcanon him as an assassin (i mean, look at that raid outfit - you can't tell me that's not built perfectly for stealth and a better range of motion!), but more short-ranged and borderline fighter style. i think he has a sickle for quick chain kills, and an old dagger for sneak kills. (sickle is directly inspired by percy jackson and chronos' sickle, but i don't think we ever got to see it in a movie, but something along these lines would fit well. dagger is more of the hunting/gutting knife from the hannibal nbc series)
well... that about wraps it up! i tried to get more visuals from media this time instead of just googling the weapon type from the internet. there are some pretty cool weapon designs already out there, unique ones that always catch my eye. i just like weapons a lot lmao

New trek’s problems literally all stem from the shows’ insecurities. They don’t trust in the fans to tune in because they don’t have faith in new ideas. They use nostalgia and love of the same characters as a crutch.
The only reason Michael Burnham is in any way related to Spock is because they didn’t trust fans to want to watch a black woman captain. Then when they finally realized the show could stand on its own they wrenched away that story line and basically made it not matter.
SNW is the absolute definition of this problem in full force. They want more TOS but we can’t just write more but what if it’s a prequel but what if they’re all totally different because they’re not them yet but oh wait they’re still them when it’s convenient but no you’re never allowed to speak of this trauma again and that’s why it’s never brought up later. LOOK! ROMANCE! YOU GUYS LIKE THAT RIGHT? Like Jesus just pick a thing and be that. Not to mention how much Spock is being flaunted around in Season 2. It’s almost like it’s his show and not about the enterprise and not even about Captain Pike for that matter. They rely too heavily on peoples love of Spock so they don’t do anything else.
Lower Decks even relies on Boimler to not just be a goofy little guy, but functions as a self-insert for most fans because of his own obsession with Starfleet’s past.
Not to mention why have we literally only had shows about Starfleet ships? Why don’t we have a show yet where humans aren’t the main cast? We end up with these formulaic cast set ups where it’s mostly humans and then one or two aliens thrown in every single time. We know other species have their own ships but we don’t know how they work!
When will I get a show about a science ship full of Vulcans and the small crew of crazy human engineers stinking up the engine room??? What if only two Vulcans work on a ship of humans orions and betazoids and those two Vulcans fucking hate each other but no one else can tell so they assume they’re friends.
What about betazoids? What would a ship be like and how close would a crew become if literally all of them were telepaths. And how would they interact differently with a new Klingon security guard? Or a Vulcan who literally always has their shields up! OR AN ORION THATS MAYBE JUST AS OPEN AND EXCITED FOR INTIMACY AS THEM!
Instead of the only dark and gritty storylines coming from war maybe make a show about Orion pirates or slave traders who literally despise themselves for what they do but have to in order to survive.
We’ve moved passed the point where the one trailblazer opens the gates for their race to join Starfleet but what about the other way around? And what about big ships with small communities of aliens instead of just one. Like that one corridor is where all the Vulcans live next to each other so don’t go down there unless you wanna sweat. Or remember a sweater when you come to the Andorian potluck tonight, they keep it chilly in there.
I’m tired of talking about humans. Let’s get crazy with the scifi whimsy again and not just use Star Trek as a vaguely familiar vessel for the same plots over and over.

OP, I have a line up of questions. Hope you don't mind, but I love your blog, and these thoughts been bogglin' my mind since day 76.
1. If there was a hero you'd like to see, what weapon would you prefer them to have? Are there any primary weapons that we have yet to see in Overwatch that you'd like to see? (I love Illari's gunblade, especially her melee animation.)
2. Are there any speculations on heroes and their weapons befitting their personality?
(Tracer's are guns that are very spread shot (noting her upfront and open personality and sometimes spread out attentions, you find it hard for her to sit still, her sitting emote she's rocking side to side.))
(Mercy's gun quite literally being tucked away and using her staff primarily noting her weariness against violence, yet still needing it. Meanwhile Torbjörn's hammer's tucked away instead, maybe showing his willingness to fight, but is an engineer and a mechanic when it comes down to it.)
(I could be reading too much into that. Whoops.)
3. Are there any heroes and backstories and lore that you haven't discussed that you would really like to, but never got the chance?
Ok first question, my main wants for heroes are Lynx 17, Iggy and Sanjay (Mauga is there too but we are definitely getting him), for Iggy I would like for her to either have some musical based weapon (Like Lucio) or a bat, cause she is a regualar civillian so her having a simple weapon would be a very interesting change. For Lynx I think they would be a support with a hacking ability which is fun on it's own, but as for a regular weapon, I think it would be a mix of Symmetra and Zenyatta's secondary fire. For Sanjay I think he'd have a similar weapon to Sym and Lifeweaver but more direct and streamlined, idk what that would be exactly but I think it would be a lot more structure based.
Second question, I think all the weapons mirror the personality of those using them in some way or another. Some other examples I can think of is Cassidy's gun is effective at long ranges, signifying that he is more of a sniper type character (I've even seen some people call him a close range sniper) and Sombra's gun is quick and most effective at close ranges, she's a stealth based character so it makes sense that her weapon would work that way.
Third question, I want to talk about Echo and Orisa more but I need to read the other novels first but I am so busy and I don't have the energy to read when I'm not-
Other than that I do want to talk about Angela and Sombra's back stories a bit more, especially with what's implied happened to them after the crisis in contrast to each other and characters like Cassidy and Baptiste.
I hope I answered your questions well!!

Hi honey how are you? I read your Battinson story and I am completely in love with the way you write. the details, the dialogues, the way you show each character's personality is incredible. I wanted to ask if you have any tips for new writers? English is not my native language and I find it very difficult to write references, information that makes sense (like everyday things that make sense to happen in a city in the United States, medical terms, slang and such) even if I read a little of the comics and the movies deliver some information, when we are going to write our own history it is so difficult to build a universe
Thank you for your lovely comments about Just Breathe, and I'm so glad you liked it!
My imposter syndrome always goes into overdrive whenever I get asked about writing, because I don't really consider myself a proper writer - I just do this for fun and I'm fumbling through the process as best I can.
But here's what I did to get to the point of writing Just Breathe - I hope it helps you in some way:
I started out small.
When I first started writing my own stories (after literally decades of reading other people's fanfic) I started really small. There was no way I could have tackled a 90000 word novel with plot and characters and backstory and all the references you mentioned straight off the bat. So I wrote an 800-word fic which was basically one character's inner thoughts.
No dialogue. No action. No setting the scene. Just thoughts.
In my next fic, I tried some dialogue. And a single setting - nothing complicated that needed research, just a beach.
Then I wrote a story with a couple of scenes, each in a different setting. Nothing complicated, but I got some practice creating locations with words.
And on it went. You can go on AO3 and see the progression - building up to writing Just Breathe was gradual. I challenged myself with each new fic to try something new - plot, fight choreography, creating original characters, etc.
My first attempt at a big sprawling original story with an original character and some world building wasn't all that successful (in terms of reader engagement, but also in how much I was happy with the product). So I tried again with Just Breathe - and I'm really proud of how it turned out.
But I cheated a bit. I'm a pathologist, so I made Beth a pathologist. It was easy to write someone who has a similar job to me. If she was an aerospace engineer, I would have really struggled! But I did what all writers are advised, and which I'll advise you as well - write what you know. Create a character that has your job. Set your story in your home town. Practice with the familiar, before moving on to the unfamiliar.
Which I've done for my latest fic Tabula Rasa. The OFC has a life and job that is VERY different from mine, so its taking a lot more research. A LOT!. I google everything! Probably more than I need to. Things like, what does a beach house in Maine look like; what do you call the metal thing you use in abseiling, what bus routes go through Danbury, Connecticut. I watched you tube videos of MMA fights and Aikido tutorials and tried to describe the movement of their limbs. I looked up chemical names so things sound scientific and correct even when I'm talking pseudoscientific nonsense. I took virtual walkthroughs on google maps to look at buildings in Hell's Kitchen so I could describe them in the fic.
My search history is varied and weird and LONG!
And once this fic is finished, I have my next challenge already lined up (in fact I've already written the first few chapters): It'll be an epic story set partly on a completely fictional planet, where all the world building will be up to me and my imagination.
I'm terrified, but excited!
So in summary (if you're still reading this long ramble!), my 3 pieces of advice are:
Start small, and gradually challenge yourself to go bigger
Write what you know, before moving on to what you don't
Google everything!
#Thanks again for getting in touch#it was fun trying to distill my writing process#such as it is!#fanfic writing#tabula rasa#just breathe

I just played through the entirety of the video game Dredge, and got all the achievements. I started it exactly a week ago and played it around the other stuff I had to do, but it was a solid and fun game!
To briefly explain the game, Dredge is a single-player game where you drive a little fishing boat, and are solving the mystery of why a cluster of islands has been cursed with sea monsters that attack ships in the night under cover of thick fog. You never really see your main character because you drive your boat from town to town, fishing spot to fishing spot, and even to some rickety abandoned docks on seemingly-deserted islands, learning details about this curse from the people you meet along the way.
For me, Dredge has the right balance of relaxing and urgent, because it's literally a game centered around driving a little fishing boat and fishing things out of the water (the relaxing part), while the fishing mini-games are reaction-time games where you have to push a button at specific times (the urgent part). If you push it either too soon or too late, your fish takes longer to reel in, and I never experienced a fish escaping from my fishing line, so I'm not even sure thats a mechanic in the game. Thus, even if you have a really hard time pushing the button at the right time, you WILL eventually reel in your fish.
It's also got a nice story-driven plot where the main character explores the 5 different areas of the map, and you have to solve various puzzles to be able to progress the story. However, you can visit any part of the map at any time, if you want to explore, and there are plenty of little side quests to do in order to get materials, gear, money to buy materials and gear, and books to read while fishing to give you little buffs like "reel in fish 10% faster" and "prices from merchants are 10% better."
There are certain things you simply cannot get by NOT progressing the quests--such as getting to do the eponymous dredging--but I was pretty content to just drive my little boat around, filling my cargo hold with fish, selling them to the fishmonger, and buying better engines and fishing rods for when I would set out the next morning. However, you CAN upgrade your boat and all of your gear without following the main quest from area to area, as long as you complete enough to get the dredging equipment that lets you collect materials from ship wrecks. But once you've done that literal first main quest? You can spend time exploring and fishing until you have the best gear in the game before continuing the main story.
Also, because I know you're all wondering: Yes, it is possible for the sea monsters at night to wreck your boat, but it is also possible to wreck your own boat accidentally by getting stuck between two rocks and ping-ponging back and forth between the rocks as you try to reverse and get free. It simply has you re-load to your previous save, which is whenever you last pulled into a dock. The monsters are not as big a deal as they seem when you first encounter them. Also each of the monsters have ways to avoid them or make them go away, so you can avoid run-ins with them pretty easily.
Overall, I really enjoyed Dredge and would recommend it to people looking for a video game that combines exploration with solving puzzles and helping non-player characters. Lots of fun content, so many different fish to reel in, and some really beautiful visuals.
P.S. If you have any questions or if you decide to play it but need help with something while playing, feel free to send me a message. My brain has commutted the entire game to memory so I can probably answer any question you throw at me.
