Have you read the Record of Ragnarok manga? If so what do you think of their portrayal of Apollo?
Because the manga takes quite a lot of liberty with the myths, I went in with zero expectations but was pleasantly surprised with how it touched upon his ties with boxing, philosophy and Sparta. I've never actually come across any media adaptation of Apollo that goes into those less known aspects of his, so it is refreshing. He's charming, cocky but a very capable deity. And the "know thyself" principle being a part of his personality is really nice. His design is also pretty unique (except for that half choppy - half long hair...Apollo has this hair in at least three different Japanese media and idk why XD) he's beautiful, graceful, has loooong hair, and they didn't hold back from making him a femboy here lol
But I don't know if I vibe much with the way he was turned into some sort of a pacifist, especially with the most famous nemesis of his in the myths. And his character isn't fleshed out much (though this can be said about pretty much every god is in this manga :') ) which I suppose is to be expected in a battle manga. But giving credit where it's due - he has really cool techniques and weapons (and I find it sweet that he named a lot of them after Artemis). Like, I was taken by surprise that they made him a string user, but then I realised that yes, strings are closely associated with him via lyre and bow. I felt like it was a clever idea! And it is fun to watch him fight.
Overall, this depiction is far from being accurate and could definitely use more fleshing out, but I still like this Apollo a lot.

Any fandom trends in LMK you literally can’t stand?
Tumblr media
Urgh fucking absolutely.
Every now and then (often in the cycle of several months) there’s a new fic/comic that circulates the fandom promising that it’s going to be “The nuanced portrayal of Macaque and Sun Wukong that all of you were waiting for!” and the fandom cheers and claps and begins to hype and recommend this fic to every little corner of the audience that it possibly can, on twitter and reddit and tumblr-
Except the author’s idea of “nuance” is fucking inevitably:
“Sun Wukong gets his asshole verbally ripped and his teeth kicked in every other chapter and Macaque gets lightly scolded every five chapters and also everyone loves and forgives him and is on his side without any trouble. Also Wukong is a big bumbling dumbass who can’t tie his own shoes without making people hate him. Also Macaque never ever makes mistakes because the author likes him too much just doesn’t. But if he does no one calls him out on it. And if they do they’re in the wrong. And we’re going to address and rip apart Wukong for all of his shortcomings and mistakes, while pretending that Macaque has never done anything wrong. Look how nuanced I’m being!”
This also inevitably comes with a hefty helping of a side dish of “the author doesn’t know the difference between killing for fun and killing in self defense” that is never fun to deal with under any terms, where Sun Wukong puts down Macaque because the latter is a legitimate threat to either Wukong himself, his fellow pilgrims, a town or even the world, and then being treated like a cold-blooded murdered because the author can’t comprehend morality he committed the grave sin of “self-defense”.
Tumblr media
(And yes, I’m aware that portraying a flawed relationship as nuanced isn’t a situation of splitting the blame exactly 50/50, it’s engaging with both sides of a situation and giving them proper care in regards to the context arisen from conflict and abrasion, etc. But when you’re hitting us with a 90/10, man? Just tell us that you’re biased! People will still read your stories!)
(And obv this doesn’t include villain AUS)
It’s just so fucking tiresome to hear the constancy hype around a big new “nuanced” fic and then it’s more of the fandom typical “shitting on Sun Wukong”.
The most recent one was genuinely so egregious in spite of the constant hype that I stopped reading Monkie Kid fanfic on A03 almost entirely at this point.
It’s just not worth the hassle.

So, more info from Hyrox Glasgow 2024! Again, thanks Team for all the DMs, I really appreciate you! ❤️
Reminder of what I posted yesterday.
And
So, today, I get this video of Sarah Holden competing at Hyrox Glasgow, and you can CLEARLY hear Sam Heughan cheering her on. Sam's voice is at the very end. At the beginning, you hear a man with a thick Glasgow accent pronouncing Sarah's name Serah. That's NOT Sam. There's also a woman's voice. And at the END of the video, you can hear Sam's unmistakable "C'mon, Sarah!" This was shared by one of the Team and I saved it to my YouTube Channel. Enjoy!👇
I also received this DM with additional info. 👇 Posted with permission.
Tumblr media
Here's the pic where Sam is tagged. 👇
Tumblr media
And Sarah posting she got FOMO aka Fear Of Missing Out and spontaneously competed today in the women's open race. 👇 She definitely matches Sam's energy level! I'm tired just looking at her. 😊
Tumblr media
Anyhoooo, I also got some conflicting info regarding whether Sam competed yesterday after all. I was alerted to this Tweet. 👇
Tumblr media
And then I received this DM from someone I've never talked to. 👇
Tumblr media
It's all very confusing. On the one hand, it is weird that if Sam competed, he never posted anything on his own IG. On the other hand, Hyrox DID post his results as if he DID compete yesterday. 👇
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
If Sam decided to not compete and wanted to give his slot to someone else, why wouldn't Hyrox be able to substitute the other man's name? Everything is computerized, so I don't see why they couldn't have made the change easily. Also, isn't it fraudulent to post results with Sam Heughan's name if he wasn't the one competing?
On the flip side, if Sam didn't actually compete, then he literally went to Hyrox to watch Sarah! Those saying "No, he went to watch his friend, Valbo. who also competed." Yeah, except Valbo didn't compete until 6:00 PM yesterday, and Sam was there at 12:00 PM, when the women's competitions started. Literally RIGHT THERE where Sarah was competing. 👇
Tumblr media
No reason for Sam to be there 6 HOURS before Valbo was competing if he only went to support Valbo. 🤷‍♀️
I ran out of room to post pics since Tumblr limits to 10 pics, but I also got a DM saying Sam got a bunch of new Instagram follows who are Sarah Holden fans. That leads me to think they went to follow him because they saw him with Sarah at Hyrox.
So, that's it for now. I'm in the process of vetting someone from the Glasgowish area who approached me with some Sam and Sarah info. If she and the info check out, then I'll post it.
PS. I'm hearing from people that my usual haters and assorted newish haters are gnashing their teeth about my #samarah posts...same as it ever was. This has happened any time I've ever posted about Sam possibly dating someone. If you look at my track record for the last 10 years, my info has been at least 90% accurate. No one in the Outlander fandom would have known about Cait and Tony, and Sam and Cody, Abbie, Mackenzie, etc if not for my INSIDER source info, and me posting it FIRST. Facts, people. So, the hate makes no never mind to me. I keep doing me. I'm here for those who want the info. If that's not you, go somewhere else. Simple as that.
Oh, one more thing...the LIE that I have a restraining order against me from Sam resurfaced in my Inbox. Let's use our brains once in our lifetime, shall we? If I had a restraining order or a cease and desist, I wouldn't still be here, now would I? Doh. 🤦‍♀️ My blog is just like any celebrity news blog. It's called freedom of speech, peeps. And in the USA people have died to protect this right. That's all, folks.

I find it funny that dungeon meshi fandom makes Chilchuck and Mithrun seem super old. Like yeah, to tall-men Mithrun is super old, but to other elf’s he’s just middle aged. (He did go through a lot of trauma tho and since elf’s age slower he may seem more boomerish at times so I kinda get it). Same with Chilchuck. I see so much “I like old men” or “he’s old” when he’s literally not even 30 yet 😭😭
I get calling Mithrun old cus we’d all technically be tall-men, but Chilchuck??? 💀💀 like yeah he has kids…but someone ik just had a kid too and she just recently turned 19. Idk, it’s just something I think about a lot in the fandom cus it comes up a lot lol.
(Just throwing my thoughts out there, no way am I trying to criticizing anyone or hate on anyone)
I feel you! I personally enjoy the jokes, especially with Chilchuck, because I just like older characters and explorations of/jokes about that stage in life
I think he’s considered middle aged because half-foots generally live up to only 50 years old. So at 29 he’s only 21 years from being elderly. Middle age is usually considered your 40s and 50s which is about 20-ish or so years away from elderly. So ye I believe in tall-man years and according to societal standards, Chilchuck would actually be around 40-50 ish.
But then again it’s mentioned that some half-foots live to be older and 50 is just a general reference. But obviously, considering that it’s the general age half-foots tend to live up to, 50 is considered old for them. It’s like how 70-80 is considered old for us but some people live to their 90s
Also I think he calls himself middle aged at some point 🤔 but I may be misremembering (I mean, I’m 26 and call myself old so he might just be Talkin as people tend to do)
As for Mithrun, elves generally live up to 400 years. He’s only 15 years from 200 which would be the very brink/beginning of middle age. 15 years feels like a lot for us but for elves that’s probably much shorter lol
So ye I think by elven standards then Mithrun would be considered a Grown Ass Man, mid to late 30s ish. Not quite middle aged yet but he’s getting there. It’s just fun to call him an old man. He’s like a lovely aged cheese

ONTF, you're older than I am, you're highly media literate, maybe you'll know: what was the appeal of the Joss Whedon style of writing to begin with? Everyone whateverishly wording their phrasey bits in that very Whedon-y way never did anything for me, positive or negative, and the constant need to have comedy during serious moments or interrupt a serious moment with either snark or a remark that nods towards tropes diffuses the tension to the point where I can't get invested. None of his characters ever felt capable of having sincere moments like most characters in other things I watch, and the few moments of that they did have would get undermined by one of the aforementioned flaws.
I do think the "omg worst writer EVER!" crowd is a bit much, because I've seen things so bad that Whedon looks like Shakespeare by comparison. But my half-sister, who is 25 years older than me and thus in her late 40's, swears Joss' style is revolutionary and deep. And frankly I've been wrong about a lot of media I used to hate and I'm open to the idea I'm missing something. It's super likely given my limited media exposure, though I am admittedly trying to work on that and branch out into more genres of media and more formats so I don't become that 'guy who has only seen Boss Baby thinks every movie has Boss Baby vibes' meme.
So. What am I missing? What's the context I'm missing and the key here that will allow me to appreciate the appeal of and enduring fandom for Whedon's work? I am admittedly a fandom baby but I am willing to learn.
--
I mean... I despised him from the get go, other than the Buffy movie, which I still quote that death scene from regularly, so I'm probably not the best person to describe what's appealing about his style.
But one-liners during action are a common taste even if I'm fonder of the sorts of homoerotic 80s trash Ruthless Reviews used to cover.
Ironic distance is also popular and easier to swallow than earnestness for a lot of people.
However, I do think Buffy's original audience was connecting with it emotionally. Look at the part where Buffy's all upset after the most clownishly 1980s take on loss of virginity and heavyhanded metaphors for guys being jerks that just made every writer involved seem excessively middle-aged and out of touch Giles asks if she has any idea what could have happened to Angel. For people who weren't going to high school in 90s California, that bilge was apparently very moving. Certainly, there are parts of Buffy where the quips die down for some actual emotional moments.
People like style. Something that commits to being aggressively stylized will often stand out from the bland clones that surround it. Look at Wes Anderson (another creator I don't particularly like). Whedon's godawful faux-witty dialogue did sound different from other things on TV at the time. He also lets women say some of the one-liners, which is sorely missing from most media.
But mostly, he was formative for a lot of people, and I had to live through many, many years of them earnestly entreating me to give his shitty writing another chance because this time I would somehow connect with this sex-negative parasite and his casting aesthetic that I didn't find hot or interesting.
(I like dumb and campy things. I just like them to star a bunch of body builders from New Zealand, not waifs.)
People always hold up the things they imprinted on as more revolutionary and deep than they seem in retrospect. In Whedon's case, his already obnoxious style suffers from having been copied so much since, but even if he weren't famous or popular, if you were talking to that one person whose adolescence was defined by their love of him, they'd say all this same nonsense your sister does.

Baghera Jones is her own person that can make her own decisions, thank you very much
I wasn't going to post this here because most of this discourse came from the bird app, but I've seen so much posts here (and in my notes) that I need to get this out of my chest. So this post is going to be TW: fandom neg about Baghera treatment by the QSMP community, be warned.
So, where to begin?
I keep seeing post about Q!Baghera being a bad friend to Forever, insulting her, saying she" hate him" and that it would be better if Forever only interact with Brazilians from now on. And I'm tired of this shit
" She will clearly always side with BBH whatever Forever do"
Oh, so we have a woman friend with two men, so of course she needs to take sides. Forbid her to have her personal opinions, it all about choosing the guy she likes the most, isn't it ? How people don't realize hoe misogynistic that way of thinking is !?
She literally connected on the server yesterday, learned that Forever wanted to build a prison to imprison players and that he pass a law that was specifically targeted at one of her other friends. Of course, she said that she will stand by BBH if this continues. She is trying to comfort him because from HER perspective, he's being targeted by unfair laws, and he is still (in lore) experiencing psychological problems. She didn't side with him, she chooses to help him. Because she can make decision with the information she has.
" But she is always against what Forever propose with the government"
I'm sorry, where were you when the election arc happens? Probably insulting Baghera because she dare have opinions and calling them "stupid" and "baseless" to the point she quitted I guess? q!Baghera was ALWAYS anti-federation. She joined the election so she could start a revolution. Even after she accepted to not do that, she always defends the point that having a president was a bad idea and that a council would be better. These ideas aren't new and she didn't stop having them after Forever got elected. It makes sense for her character to oppose to him, because she was never for a president in first place.
Yesterday, she didn't say she thought his idea of vote is stupid. She says that she doesn't agree with HOW it's done right now and that they can make it better. More representative of the people. But when she talked to Forever, he basically ran away when she started saying she didn't like it. Then they got interrupted by Bad. She hadn't the time to explain herself and people are acting like she said the idea(and Forever) was bad when she never says such thing. And even if she was totally against it, she would have the right to. She has the right to have a different opinion than her friends.
" But she is always hiding things!"
Clearly, you haven't watched Baghera's stream in a long time. What does she have to hide, I'm asking you? She never gets lore, and never has any in the past. Every time sometimes mildly exciting happen, she is running to another player just so she could tell them. In the election arc she was even sharing a ton of secrets with Cellbit, a guy she was convince was a dormant agent, just because he was on the server at the same time as her and she needed to share! She is only keeping secrets that other people told her. You know, like a good friend? Also, she sometimes forgot to say things right away, but cc! Baghera has ADHD, so it's not on purpose she sometimes forgets things. CC! Baghera said that canonically, her character trust Forever 100%, and she kept it that way so far. She just has no secrets to share right now because she isn't getting any lore.
" But Forever is always alone these days, and Baghera isn't appreciative of his work!"
Pshhh, I'm going to tell you a secret. You know who's alone 90% of their streams? BAGHERA JONES! She is in her castle alone, building. And why she spends the other 10% with people? Because she goes to people to check on them! Does Forever do that? No. He's in is isolation arc. We have never seen him check on what Baghera was doing or asking to do something together. Several times we've seen the players having fun while he was online, and he didn't join. It's not Baghera's job to go fetch him to play and help him when he isn't asking for it. And she always shows appreciation for what he is doing, just not in his face. Things you would know if y'all were actually watching her POV. She has Portuguese and English subtitle on at all times, you have no excuses. And why these type of comments are always directed toward Baghera and nobody else in the server that are doing stuff aside from Forever? Literally, I've never seen anyone else being call names because they are not tending to someone else need. Truly strange that it's directed at a woman, isn't it?
Baghera said in live recently that she has to take a break from doing lore with some of the streamers with the biggest community because she was getting hate every single time she was interacting with them. She didn't say names, But we all know who she was talking about. And I think it sucks she has to walk on eggshells around Brazilian players because of that. That she try to not be too friendly/teasing with Forever because of that. If you don't see her spending time with him as much, now you know why. They are still friend, but she doesn't want to deal with the community bullshit.
To conclude
She said that she wants her character to be recognized for her own achievement and not just be "Forever and bad third friend". And I'm also tired of this. She has the right to have opinions. She has the right to make decisions that contradict the ones of her friends. Furthermore, she isn't "Forever bad friend" or "BadBoyHalo emotional support woman". She is her own person. Stop acting like she's picking sides. Stop to infantilize her by saying that "she needs to think about the way she's acting". All her decisions make sense in universe. She has the right to defend her friend, she has the right to do her castle in peace, she has the right to not spend time with/help her brother if she doesn't feel like it. SHE has the RIGHT to exist at the SAME LEVEL as BBH and Forever, not as their accessory that is there to break them apart.
We have a lot more women on the server now that Jaiden plays regularly and with the new players. Let threat them like person, not just by the lenses of the men of the QSMP. Go watch their POV. Ask questions to people that watch them on main.
I'm so tired of this, it's being going on for months. I know the biggest part of the community is nice and love her. At least until she does something they don't like. I'm so tired...

Oh hard core agree. I can't tell you how baffling it was begging for people to actually read the source material in animanga fandoms because they would just go on trashing on the heroes and simping for the villains and making up false crimes characters didn't even do, then walking into LMK and it was the exact opposite. Everyone is obsessed with the source material, they HATE the villain. What the pepperoni. Seeing people go "well of course Wukong hates Mac what did he expect when he killed and ate a monkey and stole stuff" he didn't do SQUAT. And just because LMK combined demons with Brotherhood characters of similar names doesn't mean they were the same character in JTTW so seeing THAT and the assumptions people bring from that is. huh. I think JTTW is too advance a book for the 14 year old age demographic LMK attracts. I'd also like to study this wild phenomenon of villain redemption demands because nobody complained about Red Son and it makes me laugh everytime someone says "Macaque needs to show more actual want to change" like, fam. Maybe if he was an actual villain to BEGIN WITH instead of *checks note* a one off instance of villainy where all he did was fight Wukong post-stealing MK's powers and be a bullying jerk, another instance of ambiguous LBD warning and trauma projecting lore dumping, and then a following season of being an unwilling henchman who kept telling us 50 times he didn't want to do this, that LBD forced it bc he "already had a taste of dying" and just wanting to be free of it and never talk to MK and his friends again *points very deliberately at the "and then I'm done with you all." line. Pretty dang hard for a character to pull things out of a hat to convince others that "they no longer have those motives and desires" when they didn't have them in the first place. Love the way you're calling out the Bull Fam and Tripitaka those are so trueeee. Zhu Bajie too lmao. My thoughts exactly. Twinkle toes over there is going to be a fun character to witness when we get context on the "Monkey! No violence!" line in LMK. And by character, I mostly mean the fandom response.
I can spend all day listing how much almost all the villains hold MK responsible for Wukong’s actions nearly 90% of the time or at least shit on him all because he’s Wukong’s successor.
But that’ll take literally all day…
It’s also the same with Every SINGLE inaccuracy in LMK that gets glossed over because every single fan’s bias of certain things.
Like you can condemn Macaque and make him all villainy but what about Zhu Bajie? Or Tripitaka? One of the reasons I dislike Zhu Bajie is because not only did he not change he was a pervert. I really disliked him for that. But it looks like LMK COMPLETELY changed that because we barely see any mention of his wife and the flashbacks show that Wukong met him in the same village Tang, MK and Mei were in. So clearly there has been a change. But I barely see hate for Bajie about it because half the fandom villainizes Tripitaka already for not disciplining him as much as Wukong.
If you want to acknowledge how Macaque was in JTTW you also have to acknowledge EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER in the JTTW. If that’s how you really want it to go.
One thing I think would be the reason as to why the whole ‘Macaque cannibalized one of Wukong’s grandchildren’ was changed is because Macaque and Wukong KNEW EACH OTHER before the Journey. It is also implied that Macaque has been with Wukong the longest, (In the context of Shadow Play) and it is implied that he possibly resided or at least stayed in FFM. Which meant that Macaque is also attached to the Monkeys. Remember: Macaque’s motive is to hurt Wukong and only Wukong. Which is why he goes after MK because he knows that will hurt Wukong. But if he is attached to Wukong’s grandchildren and has lived with Wukong it’s also gonna hurt Macaque if he killed them. (Though Macaque is not overly affectionate like Wukong, the fact that the monkeys trust him enough to literally sit on top of any part of him they can sit on proves that Macaque did tend to them while Wukong was away.)
The only reason I can think that Wukong hates him is because of Tripitaka and the whole ‘using Wukong’s face’ jig.
Macaque can canonically pretend to be Wukong, he did so with MK in Season 2 and did trick Wukong into thinking he was MK in Season 1. There is a likelihood that the whole ‘pretending to be Wukong’ still happened in LMK.
Remember: In the Flashbacks of Macaque and Wukong’s confrontation, there is no circlet on Wukong’s head. This is further confirmed in Season 3 during the Samadhi Fire arc. In the Amnesia episode, Wukong confirms they are still in the Journey AFTER the Samadhi Fire was sealed (Because he said Four Rings which means the Samadhi Fire was sealed in rings already) And notice in the flashback when they were sealing the Samadhi Fire, Wukong doesn’t have his circlet, compared to the flashback with Azure where he DOES have a Circlet. No matter if Macaque’s flashback was faked, it does confirm that after some time, Tripitaka trusted Wukong enough that he removed the Circlet.
Which possibly means that Tripitaka and Wukong grew to have a mutual understanding of each other. Till Macaque showed up and proceeded to ruin everything.
So yeah if you need a reason as to why Wukong hated Macaque there’s a possibility it wasn’t about cannibalism in the context of LMK.

Love that even tho ur a popular blog in the fandom u realize that u clown sometimes too and make fun of urself, very demure very mindful as the kids say
is this a safe space to say that despite being gen z myself i still don't know what very demure very mindful means
(looked it and gasp that's genuinely very sweet thank you!! i certainly Try, don't always succeed but i definitely appreciate being appreciated)
i just think it's very important in life to being able to make fun of yourself without being mean to yourself, y'know? at the end of the day basically any fandom is just not that serious and certainly not something to attach self worth / wellbeing to. i did not ask to be a 'popular' blog and sometimes i wish i wasn't, admittedly, but overall i think i do a good job at chilling in my corner and maintaining a corner to chill.
like all my metas are either written in full context (ie. talking about s5 when we have all of s5) or with the caveat that this is the context and understanding i have right now in speculating in the future. there could be curveballs or information withheld or times where my vision just doesn't match up wth the crew's vision (throwback to me thinking Leola would be a family member of Aaravos but specifically Not His Child bc of Sir Sparklepuff and Claudia), and like. that's all good and fun and okay? any time the show has done something that wasn't my preference or didn't work for me the first time (aka there were like 3 things in s6) i assume i'm wrong and go looking for reasons as to "why would they do this" and i'm always satisfied with the answers i find in some manner; either it makes me Love what they did or i'm well aware it's a fucking nitpick to begin with (what does anyone at the Starscraper eat? i need to know). i'm down to recontextualize and re-evaluate and take things as they come (aka i've started my pre-season "let go of all expectations" ritual)
i think some of that comes from 1) being very emotionally detached from analysis overall and 2) subsequently not really caring how or why certain associations/themes come back, just that they do. part of that comes from being trained to leave how a work makes me feel (besides genre aspects like the grotesque or sublime) at the door (like i hated jane eyre being 18 and her happy ending being with her shitty 40 year old employer, but those feelings literally do no matter if i'm gonna Analyze the text like 90% of the time) and/or having to teach my students to think about relatability and then also think beyond it. this also goes for queer representation; i don't like or relate to all queer representation i've seen, like double trouble in she-ra as a nonbinary person, but i don't have to for it meaningful and worthwhile for someone else, including the writers and the character successfully encompassing what they were trying to do, and i think co-existing with those aspects is worthwhile too.
like for example i hope going into s7 that either my pet theory CHET happens in some manner (like the way it did in 5x08) or i know definitively without a doubt that it's not happening in the future and that time has passed so that i can theorize and move onto other things in TDP. or like, i always thought it'd be cool if Callum had freed Aaravos and that would still probably be my preference of Callum's freedom associations, but I mostly just want those associations between him and Aaravos to go somewhere. maybe it's in a shattering world order thing, maybe they're subverted (callum is freed and he traps aaravos or something) but as long as they eventually go somewhere, it's gouda? whenever i'm right it's a lot of fun and it is rewarding, don't get me wrong; it's exciting and a confidence boost that i'm good at analyzing this specific story, but it's not why i theorize (i'm journey not destination focused) nor is it why i put time into fandom, i'm here to have fun and accept the story for what it is as it comes to me, partially because i hope people do the same with the stories i tell someday
after all, stories and fandom are here to bring us joy, fun, and catharsis. if they're not doing that, then we gotta do something different

going to be mean and blunt about the robins rq
dick: the First one. you can dress it up as whatever as him being a minority him being a marysue wunderkind him having eldest daughter syndrome whatever whatever idc his value is inherent in being the first one. he’s my favorite but he’s the first and that’s what he brings to the table. literally every part of his character is just the idea of the The First One amplified. they could write him out of the dc story they could ! but it’s not his flexibility as a person/character that keeps him relevant it’s because he sets the tone always. everyone else gets to be different because he set the standard first and it’s BECAUSE he came first that he’s written like this.
jason: the Dead one. stephanie’s dead too, you say. god i wish DC would acknowledge that, i reply. death arcs are sexy and cool and put everyone else in the wrong because dying and coming back makes you the ultimate object of pity. unfortunately dc found jason so boring that somehow even with a death arc as his only personality trait his run was so boring without other characters they had to shut him down at 50 issues
tim: the Boring one. this post was actually motivated by seeing a post that tried to make tim interesting and i would just like to say: stop. there is nothing fundamentally unique or likable about him. name one thing tim has going for him i’m begging you…smarts? dick is smarter*. skills? damian’s been training since birth**. strength? jason is 6 2”. humor? stephanie literally slapped batman. initiative? duke started a robin collective WITHOUT walking up to a dude and saying “hey remember when ur parents died ! sucked for me tbh” PLEASE. “oh but he’s the relatable one :(((!” i hate to break it to you but if you relate to tim you’re probably just as boring and no one’s told you yet. consider this your wakeup call. now try to imagine a world without him. you can’t because DC won’t stop putting him in things. it’s killing me
stephanie: the Girl one. white and blonde and the target of every horrific Women As A Cautionary Tale storyline in the batman universe ever. because she already has MAJOR diversity points for being female in the robin costume, the writers and the fandom decided to ransack her character for things to beef up tim’s disgustingly sparse resume with. this has left behind a Girl Best Friend Doll in purple with a drawstring in her back to let her say unfunny one-liners and the words “We Can Do It!” © Rosie the Riveter
Damian: the Exotic one. god forbid we have one story that does not involve his Evil Heritage and Evil Family. where are he talia and ras from again? the Mystical Orient, did you say? come again? oh, you mean the [unspecified landmass] of the Savages who Must Be Converted To The American Values of Apple Pie and Bravery? everything about damian has to tie back to his exoticism, his temperament his weaponry his fucking dialogue (and like the vernacular (separate story) that he’s given that conflates east + antiquation -> to imply backwardness) of it establishes him as the Other and makes it the conflict all the time. you don’t see tim’s white people manners learned from his mother being an issue to overcome do you
Duke: the New one. technically not even robin to begin with, thank GOD because while it would be sweet to see a younger duke maybe have been a robin it would have come at the expense of his family, AND ON THAT NOTE in fanon it constantly does??? the guy is Batfamily but he has his own cast (and that’s how you create a HeroProtagonist in the dcverse) and he was established as an outside individual a la Kate or Dick (90s). try and respect that
there’s no point to this btw. but i said what i said
*babs is not mentioned because she’s not a robin
**cass, again, not mentioned because she’s not a robin

Honestly, it feels like a lot of this mandate discourse is just a natural consequence of Sega trying its darn best to organize nearly three decades of confusing, conflicting Sonic media. Like, we know they were comfortable letting Archie kill off Robotnik in the original comic, but still considered Sally popular enough for the franchise to demand her ressurection, even though that was not a character they came up with. It really feels like they had no idea how to control their IP and just went with what stuck to the wall in the 90's and 00's, which culminated with that infamous lawsuit case.
It's good that they now have a specific team that oversees how Sonic the Hedgehog is used and portrayed (which is an industry standard nowadays), but since the fandom is already used to wildly divergent interpretations of the IP, it may take a long while to accept those guidelines (I'm assuming they didn't exist or were not seriously enforced before).
Honestly, it feels like a lot of this mandate discourse is just a natural consequence of Sega trying its darn best to organize nearly three decades of confusing, conflicting Sonic media.
Which is a fool's errand. This is why I'm always stressing the games as the core canon: if you ignore all offshoot media (and I mean all of it) and focus solely on the games, then a lot of confusion automatically clears up. The games are actually fairly solid about explaining themselves and tying up loose ends. It's only when you consider everything canon that things get dicey.
Of course, that's not to say the games handle everything perfectly. I feel Knuckles' character in particular has been rather inconsistent across the years. But even then, it's not like he changes so incredibly drastically that I might as well say he has no character at all. The latter approach, that throwing the baby out with the bathwater, is what we tend to deal with.
When others muck up the canon, it's always SoJ who are to blame. And while I don't agree with Iizuka's current, rather naive approach of unifying everything because I feel like he's trying to ingratiate the series to bad-faith actors, I also can't begrudge him too much. We're marinating in a fan culture desperate to make Sonic anything and everything but itself.
---
It's good that they now have a specific team that oversees how Sonic the Hedgehog is used and portrayed (which is an industry standard nowadays), but since the fandom is already used to wildly divergent interpretations of the IP, it may take a long while to accept those guidelines (I'm assuming they didn't exist or were not seriously enforced before).
Honestly, I feel like a lot of this aversion stems from an allergy to the games on the basis that they're embarrassing. The mainstream has made it painfully uncool to like Sonic games, therefore we have to move as far away from the games' "cringe" as possible. So then you have comic book and film and SatAM fans swearing up and down their offshoot media du jour is so much better and more fleshed-out than the games. Of course they're going to chafe at the notion of making their preferred niche more like something they actually hate. Maybe it's the game purist in me, but I have no idea why anyone would feasibly want to consider everything canon, because the immediate consequence of that is trying to fit square pegs into round holes, which just doesn't sound fun. It sounds like work. In addition, more often than not it's the games universe that gets retooled to fit the offshoot media, not the other way around. The cold hard reality is that the offshoot media would have to change on such a fundamental level to even begin to fit into the games, it might as well be something new entirely. And complete change is a risk many people just aren't willing to take, as Daniel Barnes illustrated with his tweet about Sally.
Not to mention the constant disappointment that would entail: Rally4Sally needs to hang up its hat because it's been three literal decades at this point, not because Sega's dangling her in our faces just out of reach. They already did their job in making Archie revive her. She's had her time in the sun.
My personal attitude towards the matter is that there isn't as much confusion and inconsistency in the games as people say; rather, the problem tends to be a lack of good faith and literacy.
Yes, literacy. There's a lack of critical thought about what happens in Sonic games because many people either paint their own version over it, or else assume nothing of importance happens because Sonic Games Are For Kids(tm).
That may sound harsh, but considering I frequently find myself explaining the most basic plot points screenshot-by-screenshot, I'm inclined to think there's a shortage of understanding somewhere. Most of the games are largely self-contained pieces of work. Some build on previous entries, such as Adventure-Adventure 2 and Battle-Advance 3, but I don't need any given Sonic game to do that in order to enjoy it; I just need it to be a good story on its own merits. The references are just nice cherries on top. It shouldn't be the main dish to the detriment to all other parts of storytelling.
This might also be a side effect of me getting older, but I find I don't really care about the nitty-gritty like I used to. "How come ShTH shows a whole moon in the opening cutscene when it was destroyed in SA2?" Well, aside from later games establishing that Sonic's world has two moons (therefore it's not an inconsistency), it's a detail not worth stressing about when the moon doesn't factor into the game at all. It doesn't play into the game's themes of moral agency. It's not like Shadow goes on a mission to repair the moon or anything.
To be frank, many "inconsistencies" fans point out instead imply a basic failure to understand the fundamentals of storytelling. Gerald's original motives for the Eclipse Cannon are meant to be ambiguous in SA2; we're meant to ponder the question because anxiety about WMD development was rife back in the early aughts. Shadow is not inconsistent, he's always been a little aggressive. Mania's place in the timeline becomes a lot clearer when you recall how, in Generations, Classic Robotnik decided to "dedicate the rest of his life to forgetting" Modern Eggman's failures and therefore rewrote history. Thus Robotnik dug up the Phantom Ruby earlier than he "should" have.
But nowadays, it's like everything that doesn't receive an immediate and concrete answer gets painted as an "inconsistency." CinemaSins style "critique" coupled with anti-games bias makes games discussion a huge headache.

1, 7, and 12 for the choose violence ask game 🔥
thanks for the ask anon! probably the worst (best) ones to throw at me
warning this is incredibly long like "i was writing this on discord while i was bored at work and i hit the character limit twice" long
1. the character everyone gets wrong
it's temenos. good lord is it temenos. there isn't even a need for me to point fingers because i think literally 90% of portrayals that i see of him seem to miss the point entirely, if i see anyone call him a little shit or a weird freak or anything of that sort i'm going to lose it for the 458475th time.
my main issue with temenos portrayals and frankly the majority of his screentime even in-game is that the game constantly puts him in situations where he's with people he either does not like or is not close to… yes we do see his relationship with c/rick grow over time but i don't think it changes the fact that we see them meet for the first time and temenos is clearly acting in a… specific way. i shouldn't even have to say why the way he acts towards the sanctum knights isn't a full view of his character or personality but yeah! he hates them! i don't have an issue with temenos being this kind of character, but it's a problem when portrayals of his interactions with other characters (mostly the other travelers) are based off solely this view of temenos' personality. the most teasing he ever does in banters is to partitio and agnea, and most of the time he either takes it back or follows it up with a kind word right afterwards? his banter with castti and every time he brings up roi reveals that he cared for his family a lot, but we are barely shown how he shows that love. this is somewhat an issue i have with temenos' story as a whole but i see SO many people take his snarky, teasing mannerisms to be his entire personality and the only way he shows how he cares for someone which is just simply not true when you look at the way he consoles and cares for the other travelers through his banters 😭
and frankly… while it is true that temenos being an unorthodox cleric is part of his character, i think it's only highlighted so much because of how goody-two-shoes c/rick is in regards to religion and his duty. yes they're both at different sides of the spectrum, but in practically any scene c/rick isn't in where temenos' clericness is involved, he's… pretty normal?? he does his job perfectly fine he's just not as obsessed as c/rick is that's IT. i'm SO sick of seeing people talking like temenos doesn't do his job or believe in the gods at all like that was not the point of his story… yes memes are supposed to be silly but when there's an abundance of jokes painting temenos in this light it's like wow you are all missing the point of his character
7. what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because of how the fandom acts about them?
this one also shouldn't be a surprise, it's c/rick. i liked him well enough when i was playing the game but i never could shake the feeling that people were going to be really distraught at his death… like really, my first thought was "how is the fandom going to take this" rather than my own reaction when i saw the scene for the first time 🧍 the reality was so much worse than i'd expected, i um honestly can't believe how caught up people were over it to the point of putting down or even dropping the game or saying that the game is worse off for it? y'know i can agree that having a character defined by their death can be annoying when that wasn't all there was to their character but he is NOT one of those cases… i had alarms ringing in my head with every chapter he reappeared in because he was sharing so much screentime with temenos (a literal protagonist) that it just felt… wrong to me? that's moreso because i'm familiar with octopath's story and character structure but i really wasn't surprised he didn't stick around until the end of temenos' story for whatever reason it turned out to be.
my feelings regarding him tie into everything i talked about in the answer above because the way temenos treats him is basically responsible for 99% of temenos mischaracterizations even when it doesn't involve c/rick, and that added in with the fact that i cannot stand the ship makes for a general bad taste left in my mouth whenever i think about him. i think his role in the story was fine but i'm not a fan of how much emphasis the game places on temenos' relationship with him when we literally see their ENTIRE relationship on screen and it spanned… maybe 3 interspersed days?
i just simply cannot believe the fact that temenos cares more about c/rick than the father who raised him and the brother who made him the person he is LMAO…. i get that the game is banking on the audience's affection for c/rick in temenos' chapter 4 which is fine in isolation but it makes for a very awkward flashback imo when their friendship was so brief 😭 and there are others he cares about way more who were also indirectly killed by kaldena's plans…
anyway despite all this of course the fandom loves him and thinks temenos is depressed forever because of his death and shippers will break canon in half just to make sure their relationship lasts longer than a week so yeah is it any surprise i'm bitter about it. it's one of those "leaves no space for other ships" ships and i've seen multiple people say they only ship tem/hik because c/rick is dead? pisses me off to no end
12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them
i'm just going to link my ritsu post here and hope that i don't end up writing as much as i did for the other 2 questions…
while i can understand that ritsu's character isn't everyone's cup of tea, i think he's a fascinating foil to hikari and honestly represents just as much of what ku's current state is in a nutshell as mugen does. my localization post already goes through most of the changes and frankly the flattening of his character into simply a jealous rival that hikari has to kill, but there's really so much more to him than anger and jealousy… in the chapter 3 flashback we can already see how ritsu's view on life (and in particular, his own life) has been shaped entirely by how ku treats the powerless, even at such a young age. while hikari only ever saw fighting as a means to an end, for ritsu, fighting was the only thing he could do to maintain his life in ku. i think an important part of ritsu's perspective is how he wished to assimilate into the system instead of revolutionize it like hikari wanted, which was also something that was practically removed from the localization.
i can kinda start to see why ritsu decided to turn on hikari during the 3-year gap in chapter 1 because even though hikari was doing his best to help castle town thrive, he obviously wasn't able to eradicate poverty or anything like that... ritsu isn't as noble as to want prosperity for everyone in ku so it's clear to see why he wouldn't have wanted to follow hikari during the time of peace. he's always talked about rising up and becoming successful, and in ku the only way to do that is through strength and military power. and from what we see in chapter 5, he did succeed in giving mikka a better life in a shockingly short period of time so like... idk the worst thing you can fault him for is being close-minded but when people around you are dropping dead constantly it's not a surprise he says lines like "the only things that matter is what you can hold in your two hands".
honestly i think comparing hikari, ritsu/rai mei and kazan is incredibly interesting because they're all products of ku's terrible environment but they all reacted to it in very different ways... i'm grouping ritsu and rai mei together because they were on the side of "since i can't change the system, i'll assimilate into it" while hikari and kazan are more extreme in their methods but in different directions... i'm not going to say that hikari had an easy life but when you compare it to how ritsu and kazan grew up... it's honestly not hard to see why they couldn't imagine themselves following hikari's vision.
well i lied that was just as long as the other two... i have um a lot of thoughts if anyone read all this then ⭐ <- a gold star for you!

Send a Fandom: Legacies - 5, 18 / Ship: Hope/Lizzie - 20
For this ask game.
5. ...the scene from it that lives in my head rent free.
Tumblr media
So, my mind is admittedly very one track and so yeah, the scene that's taken up place in the back of my head and built a very cozy, very permanent nest is a shippy one.
I can't believe they gave Lizzie an actual '10 Things I Hate About You' MONOLOGUE that honest to goodness culminates on an actual "And [I hate you] for making me love you, Hope Mikaelson."
There's everyday blatant shipping bait... and then there's putting Lizzie inside a 90's romcom modern adaptation of a Shakespeare play.
---
Another, less ship focused scene that has taken up permanent space in my head though might be the one with the extremely misfortunate vampire that tried vampsplaining their nature to the Mikaelson tribrid.
Tumblr media
Hope feeling like it was a new low for her? Hilarious.
18. ...the perfect number of books/seasons/movies needed to tell this story properly.
Definitely more than 4.
They were JUST getting their sea-legs underneath them 😭.
More specifically... I think 7 or 8 seasons would have been just around perfect. It would have been just in that BtVS or Charmed sweet spot of a series that's long enough to explore the characters and their relationships properly, without losing steam and getting boring.
---
20. ...how and when they should get/should have gotten together.
I adore slow burns, I wouldn't change a thing about any of the stuff that happened between them before Hope snapped Lizzie's neck.
And I also wouldn't change most of the stuff that happened while Lizzie was sired to Hope (it was too freaking perfect). My one change here - and how I'd begin the process for them as the endgame - would probably be doing an actual acknowledgement of how Lizzie's "I love you." was absolutely meant as an "I'm in love with you.".
Tumblr media
I'd still maintain those thirsty, frustrated Lizzie moments from whenever Hope's being all aggressively attractive and kinda mean. But maybe making them just a little bit more textual.
Or maybe by having the No Humanity!Hope taunt her about the feelings?
Wait... ooh, I know. I'd have moved around Lizzie and Jen bonding from after the Grand Road Trip Breakup, to before. And Hope would get a bird's-eye view that would have culminated in something along the lines of petty and jealousy-flavored (not-that-she'd-admit-it) "Well, don't you move on fast?"
Tumblr media
Then I'd move everything back to how it went down in canon (including the bits where Hope and Lizzie both were decidedly not acknowledging the sire bond and its implication after Hope's humanity came back to the forefront).
Except that when MG dropped his confession I'd have had Lizzie telling him that she's in love with Hope.
The actual getting together thing in my perfect version of events would happen in season 6 (with season 5 being Hope healing from Landon's death, and coming to terms with her developing feelings for Lizzie just as Lizzie's trying to move on).
Said Actual-Getting-Together portion would include: one badly timed almost confession on Hope's part which would fly over Lizzie's head because they'd be in the middle of dealing with the latest disaster and Hope wouldn't actually be all that clear about it; and one brief span of time where Hope thinks Lizzie's dead and goes on a very Mikaelson rampage about it.
And then bada-boom-bada-bam there's a Big Damn Kiss that sweeps Lizzie off her goddamn feet.
The last season or two would be them just being the badass power-couple of the show (exactly as they've been the entire time, actually, except that they'd literally be a couple).
And THAT is how I'd get them together if it were up to me.

give me violence pls and ty; 6, 7, 19 & 20
questions here ty for the ask I love people immediately came into my inbox to ask me to complain about canon y'all know me so well
6. which ship fans are the most annoying?
I'm not really annoyed by any particular ship, more so people who complain about other shippers not doing it right- and specifically if they put it in the character tags.
also anyone who has gone through silverv tags and forced me to add a nonbinary tag to my stuff because they a) assume that she/her pronouns mean a woman and b) are apparently obliged by their tagging system to distinguish between female and male v. c'mon man. it's only happened twice but that was enough.
7. what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?
idk about *hate* exactly but Rogue, I guess? she so often seems to be either a mommy character to people's v's or people talk about how tragic she is for liking johnny, which I don't understand. she doesn't seem to be very nurturing and it's pretty clear she's got a soft spot for johnny but given she's lived to be 90 doing merc work I think she can take care of and make decisions for herself that are "bad" without being pitied for it? it's not like johnny is manipulating her. he asks and she says yes even though she's dumped him to the curb and could easily walk away or refuse. anyway I don't hate rogue, I just don't see a lot of her, and the characterization I do see I'm lukewarm on.
19. you're mad/ashamed/horrified you actually kind of like...
I had the usual cyberpunk experience of wanting to stick Johnny's head in the toilet and then he grew on me, so now every time I see him I still want to physically fight him but like in an affectionate way. So embarrassing.
Also: Smasher?? Like he still terrifies me, but what a character! He's a brain in a tin can and all he wants to do is perform violence, and unlike most of the other lore in game (cyberware will make you crazy!!) he's been Like That since he was 100% organic. There's just something wrong with him that makes him immune to bodily concerns and Arasaka keeps him like a literal attack dog they can use to scare people. He has such a clarity of purpose. He has a body that looks like Elvis. He used to talk in a southern accent. I think he should live forever.
20. part of canon you found tedious or boring
there are lots of AIs that are all FERAL and EVIL in the cage and they're going to come get you. now hold on while we act out the TCP handshake in 3D with visuals that make your eyes hurt that apparently people are working in all day because abstractions make tech COOL and ENGAGING. we have the tech to mess with people's memories and upload their souls but these AIs are ALL POWERFUL and in fifty years we haven't found the servers they're squatting on. the only one you can make contact with used to be HUMAN but all the rest are definitely BAD and MAD and INSANE. also they can insta-kill people or possess killer robots. this fits perfectly in the cyberpunk theme of um uh. technology has gone too far? people are at their fucking limit?
I forget exactly what scifi writer talked about it and it's impossible to google "AI anxiety" in tyool 2024 and get anything but people concerned ChatGPT is sentient, but there's this idea that the scifi story anxiety about AI rebellions or robots killing all humans is basically repackaged anxiety that people who have been stepped on or used or enslaved are going to suddenly fight back and kill everyone is not a new one. It's just "ah the oppressed are dangerous because some day they will want revenge". These AIs are super smart and powerful but they're not going to have the sentience to recognize allies? They just kill indiscriminately? They're no better than monsters? Alright. Maybe the sequel will surprise me and get into some nuance but I'm distrustful by nature.

Sorry it took me a while, I was having a TIME with health and family shit
7. Post a snippet from a wip
This is the opening to my current longfic project. It's the first post series fic I've written, because...I've never watched S6😂 I had just gone back to finish college after dropping out for a year and I knew I couldn't watch it without getting sucked in and losing half my time to fandom. By the time I finished the semester I knew what the ending was and I just...decided to not go through that 😅. I've also never seen the ending to M*A*S*H even though it's literally formative American cultural media because I knew bad shit happened and wanted to remember the series as a place I could visit not a story that ended.
Opening to the untiled fic currently named "yurt" in my Google docs:
There was a knock on the door of the yurt. Elizabeth looked up, from cooking. She crossed the small space, and peered through the edge of the shade in front of the window. She opened the door.
Neal Caffrey stood in front of her. Alive, in snow pants, boots, and a parka. He was still shivering.
She let him inside. He scuffed his boots off on the mat, the dry snow crunching, and came in. Elizabeth helped him unzip his coat with his fingers half frozen.
“You found us okay?”
Neal nodded, shrugging the coat off and turning to hang it on the little rack by the door, and answered with his teeth chattering, “it took longer than I wanted to get through the border, I'm sorry."
Elizabeth nodded, “it’s okay. I’m just glad you’re here.”
Neal shrugged, “running when you have amazing, happy things lined up is one thing. Abandoning you and Peter, when he’s…that’s something else.”
Elizabeth’s face softened. She nodded, and hugged him tightly. He hugged her back, melting into it. He must have missed them as much as they missed him.
36. What fic are you proudest of?
My first one. It was terrible. It was posted in the comments section on a live journal prompt thread. There was next to no punctuation. I spelled the main character's name wrong multiple times...that name being House, which as the chatacter once pointed out, is also a noun 😅
But I hadn't written anything but school assignments, ever. I have dysgraphia and can't write well by hand, it was the 90's and it took a long time to identify that and by that time I thought I hated writing, full stop. That fic was the first time I wrote for myself. It was the beginning of having a way to process my shit, and express myself, and connect with people
78. What motivates you during the writing process?
Writing is how I self soothe, process my shit, give myself hope, distract myself when I feel physically like garbage, which is a lot. It's also something I can do when I can't even sit up, I just have to be able to poke a phone screen, so it's the one hobby that has remained basically unchanged as I've struggled with health and mobility issues.

I’ve been very sad today.  That’s because I’ve come to the conclusion that Armie won't be back to Hollywood.  Too much time has passed and ppl are not invested in the truth, at least not right now.
Show business  is a much different place now than it was like, back in the 1990s, maybe even 2000s.  Being a weird, kinky person (think Angelina Jolie in the 90s with her blood oath wedding to Billy Bob Thornton) and/or a controversial person (think Marilyn Manson back in the day, or Madonna back in the day) is simply not acceptable now.  We live in a time where ppl want you to be perfect and squeeky clean no matter what.  Even rappers now seem to be very very careful in how they present themselves these days.
We went from a society that was beginning to be open about BDSM (50 Shades of Grey, anyone?) to a society that doesn't want to see or hear it.  We went from a society that was cool with Woody Allen’s relationship with Soon Ye Previn to a society that sees the relationship as tantamount to incest!  We went from a society where Rob Lowe was able to make a comeback even after spending time with a 16 year old young lady in Arkansas ( age of consent in that state then was 14-and I’m not condoning this ) where he would now be #metoo’d!
I honestly don't even know if most Armie haters truly believe the allegations against him, as they just love to see him suffer! They believed obviously faked DMs with impunity! They just don't like the fact that this straight white cis male from a wealthy background was able to go to Hollywood and make his dreams come true and they have to go to Patreon to beg for money to get their creative endeavors done ( nothing wrong with Patreon, BTW )!
I think the times have changed, and not for the better.  We live in a world now where immaturity reigns!  Yesterday’s blockbuster movies like Lawerence of Arabia make way for today’s blockbusters like Wonder Woman! We want everyone to be perfect like we did with our Mommy and Daddy!  We no longer use phrases like ‘gourmet food connoisseur’ or ‘petite,’ we now use phrases like ‘foodie’ and ‘fun size’ in their place!
I really hurt for Armie.  I wish he was born much earlier than 1986 ( maybe 1965 or 1931) where he could have been a brat packer in 80s Hollywood or a heartthrob in the same vein as his hero-Paul Newman in 50s Hollywood and beyond!
I do think, however, that Armie will be OK.  I actually think he’ll be great! I do see him as a phoenix that rises above the ashes-just not in Hollywood in particular or acting in general.  I see him as a businessman and a philanthropist!
I could be wrong-I am very open to that possibility.  Hey, I thought that Mel Gibson was finished-and he wasn't!  I thought Vanessa Williams was finished-and she wasn't! So, I am not ruling out a comeback completely.  I am coming from a place where I believe that Hollywood is a full of shit hypocritical place that caters to various fandoms that have gotten more dysfunctional and entitled throughout the years.  There is literally a TMFU Tumblr that has replaced Armie’s face as Illya with an unknown nondescript model on her site-I kid you not!  There are many other examples like the psychotic Star Wars fans that hate George Lucas and see his creation as theirs!!
Well, I just had to vent I suppose.  I would love for you guys to tell me what you think.
If you think I’m wrong-convince me!
Please convince me...
I’m always here :D
Take care.

7, 16, 18 for evil dead?
i'll do it for both spiderman and evil dead.
7. what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?
idk if i really have one for either? watch, i'll probably remember later lol.
16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)
- i can't stand when people characterize peter as being this like perpetually shy, anxious, quiet nerdy guy who can't make it with people. this was kind of true at first (early in the comics), but peter is like a confident, handsome guy who dates a lot of people. he's also funny and mean lol. and kind of scary sometimes.
(which isn't to say that peter can't be anxious or whatever. but people take it to such an annoying extreme. also i hate that people have peter bottom so much. he's a switch who thinks he's a service top and i will die on this hill.)
- canon perpetuates this as well, but i really hate ash being characterized as a sleazy, stupid asshole who's only good at fighting monsters.
Ex: he has an engineering degree, and he's also really good at messing with chemicals because he makes bombs in aod.
another thing i hate is that in trying to make him more 'badass' they totally nuked ash's kindness (ex: comforting annie when she cries after henrietta torments her). they basically took all the stuff from 1 and 2 that made him sort of compelling and turned him into scotty (who they also did dirty for like. idk drama reasons i guess). which is one of the reasons i hate that they killed scott, is because they're literally narrative foils.
- ash bedroom-wise is sort of the opposite of peter to me, because everyone wants him to top, but he wants to play pillow princess 80-90% of the time. the man is Exhausted.
18. it's absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on...
- ugh i can't think of anyone for spiderman right now.
- ms. linda bates-emery, and amanda fisher! look i absolutely hate aved, but i love them so much and the way they did them was so sick.
