Being caught jamming to Shine - Pentagon

Request: the most relatable anon in the world: “Hey babe! I love your writing so much you're one of my favourites! Could i request a reaction? Bts catching you singing and dancing around to pentagon - shine and are a little jealous? Lol i was listening to it and felt guilty so i think it would be hilarious 💙”

A/N: goddam if this ain’t me... I love this prompt and I think I kept it mostly short and sweet and pretty fluffy.

Seokjin:

Jin knows, and ultimately doesn’t care, that you stan a bunch of kpop groups. Pentagon has been your most recent infatuation, and their song Shine has been cycling through your queue pretty frequently.

You had played it in the car with Jin, Jungkook and Yoongi the other day, and Jungkook was being a smartass, telling you how disloyal you’re being as a girlfriend to the eldest member of BTS. You roll your eyes and Yoongi quietly joins him, snubbing you for trading your boyfriend in for a newer model- all of Pentagon. You scoffed and shot back some sassy comments to the two trolls as Jin laughed his chirpy giggle, completely unphased other than finding the whole notion hilarious.

Since then, Jin has brought it up when he hears you playing Shine as if he’s caught you red handed each time. He trolls you with fake disdain, tells you he met a cute girl in the elevator, or goes full Dad and tells you he’s taking away your Jin privileges for the night. He’s of course joking, but you can’t help but laugh when he catches you this time. You were cooking something in the kitchen and decided to play it pretty loud, knowing it would draw him out of his room. He pokes his head into the kitchen, eyes bugging out of his head and his puffy lips open in shock.

“Jagi! How dare you!” he begins, his tirade ramping up. He comes over to you and gets right up in your face, poking you gently just under your collar bone like he’s picking on you. You can’t help but laugh as he starts losing it.

“How can you be so disrespectful to your boyfriend?! I’m so loyal and this is what I get in return?!” He shakes his head as he rambles, a smile creeping onto his face as you throw yourself into his arms, laughing harder and harder as he gets red in the face, eventually laughing with you.

Namjoon:

“Babygirl, I’m still your favorite rapper, right?” The question shocks you a little. You’ve been nothing but a stan to him from day one, as a musician and your boyfriend.

“Joon...” you say, tone questioning.

“Never mind, I’m just kidding,” he says, brushing it off. His cheeks are just a bit pink though, clearly embarrassed at revealing his insecurity.

“No! You know you’re my favorite and I’m not just saying that,” you say, reassuring him of what he already knows. He pulls you into a hug and sighs. You peek up at him. “Can I ask where that came from?” You feel his throat shift a little as he swallows before answering. 

“I heard you listening to that Pentagon group…that new song?” he says, suddenly way more casual than before. You would have bought it but he’s not looking you in the eye.

“Mhm….” you coax, knowing he’s probably not actually upset or concerned by this. He’d be more concerned if you only ever listened to him and BTS. He’s a tough guy and an intellectual on the outside but a softie when he’s alone with you.

“And I heard you talking to your friend and doing the “Yutoda” part and talking about his voice and how deep it is…” he spills, tapering off at the end as you start smiling and blushing a little. 

“What?” he asks, tugging on your wrists. 

“You’re so cute, Joonieeeee!!” you whine, pulling his arms around you again and laughing. 

“I don’t know what I’m doing,” he says, confused at your reaction. 

“Joonie, you’re jealous!” you say, reaching up and squishing his cheeks. 

“Umnot jealoush,” he mumbles as you mush his cheeks around his mouth. You smile and pull him into a normal hug.

“You’re my favorite still. Rapper and boyfriend,” you assure him.

“I know, jagi,” he says, rubbing your back a little. His hand stops.

“Wait…favorite boyfriend?” 

Yoongi: 

There they go again, the first six notes of “Shine”, plunked out practically perfectly. You whip your head around, annoyed and amused at Yoongi’s antics at the keyboard in his studio. 

“Seriously?” You look at him incredulously, fighting back the giggle in your stomach. He can be such a troll, but it’s that kind of subtle humor that’s infectiously funny, even to the butt of his joke. And lately, that’s you after he opened your car door to find you blasting the latest Pentagon hit. He ignores you, only smirking to show his satisfaction at getting on your nerves. He rolls some chords, seemingly dropping his joke, until you start to recognize the tune he’s improvising on. He hums a little in his soft voice and confirms the nagging feeling in the back of your head.

“Hmmm….nobody likes youuuu…” he sings quietly, turning a bit in his swiveling office chair to peek at where you’re fuming at him from the couch. You toss a pillow at him, your eyes wide and your mouth hanging open at how ridiculous he’s being.

“I can’t be a fan of another boy group now?!” you squeal, unable to keep from smiling at how amused he is with this little ruse. 

“I never said that,” he mumbles, working hard to hide his smile. “….more like a stan,” he says under his voice, just loud enough for you to hear.

“Well if I’m not mistaken, somebody seems a little jealous,” you say with a sweet tone to your voice, leaning back on the couch and refocusing on your phone. You bite your lip to hide the smile creeping onto your face when you hear his chair swivel around and the familiar scoff. 

“I’m not jealous.” You let his statement settle a moment, knowing he’s waiting for you to retaliate. You finally glance up from your phone to find him slouched back in his chair, facing you. He’s looking at you like as if you’re crazy but he’s also a kid, caught in a lie. You nod at him, innocent look to your eye. You know that’ll drive him nuts. You know how to push his buttons better than anyone. 

“I’m not, Y/N.”

“Totally, babe,” you say, smiling a little and blowing him a kiss. He rolls his eyes and turns around before you can see more than a glimpse of the smile spreading across his face. It’s silent for a moment until you hear him stifle a quiet laugh, then the same six notes that started this whole debacle. 

Hoseok:

You dance around as the chorus comes again, doing your best to imitate the signature move but failing miserably. You tell yourself it’s fine though, since the only audience you have is the half baked cookies you have in the oven as you jam out to Pentagon’s song. 

“Yutoda!” you say in your best man voice, waving your arms around as he begins rapping his verse. You turn to the oven and bend, checking on your cookie status as you bounce slightly to the beat; the song picks up a little as it reaches the final refrain. You do your best to attempt their move again, never quite getting the hand and kick coordination that they seem to have. 

“Ahem…” You whip around at the sound and find Hoseok in the entrance to the kitchen, hand slightly covering his eyes. You flush pink as you realize he’s been watching you long enough to see your sad attempt at the dance for this song, and you groan, turning away from him. He laughs and comes up behind you, hugging you. 

“It’s not that bad,” he says. You turn around to face him, eyes dead serious. Really? That’s what he’s gonna open with.

“I’ve always told you that I would love to teach you a dance!” he says, changing the topic quickly after freezing under your steely gaze. Your mood brightens a little at the fun, albeit a bit embarrassing proposition. 

“Really?” you ask, interest peaked and smile sneaking back across your face.

“Of course, babe! What song do you want to learn?” he asks, going over to your phone. 

“This one! How do they get their hands and feet to go the same direction? Also I feel like I’m gonna fall over every time I get close.” He pauses for a moment and listens, shrugging a little. You wait, expecting him to start the song but he doesn't. 

“I don’t know,” he says, occupying himself with looking through your playlist of songs. “I’ve never gotten it before. What about Fire? I can teach you that choreo easy.” You scrunch up your brow, momentarily confused. 

“Hobi you do that move like every other day. Every time you see Jungkook.” He sighs and puts your phone down, acting like you’re asking him to do a bunch of chores. He shuffles over to you and fidgets with your sweatshirt strings. 

“You don’t wanna learn my dances?” he says, voice quiet and a little whiney. 

“Seriously, Hobi?” he looks at you like he’s pouting, making you laugh a little. “Oh my gosh you’re actually jealous!” 

“I am not! I just think that the first time you let me teach you some moves should be to my music!” he blurts out, tugging on your wrists. You laugh and reach up to pinch his cheek, mimicking his pouty face. He’s rarely jealous and you can’t help but find it amusing. He’s not actually hurt or anything, he’s just being his goofy self.

“Ok how about we save this dance for the next time, and you teach me Blood, Sweat & Tears now?” you compromise, poking at his cheek. He smiles and hugs you, quiet for a moment. 

“I’d love to……except it’s already 10pm and I don’t feel like staying up until dawn,” he jokes, poking your side. You scoff at him, whacking his arm at his mean but funny joke. You weren’t that bad..right?

 Jimin: 

You loved going on drives with Jimin because you got to hang out and play your favorite new music for each other. Sometimes the two of you would run errands and other times you simply got in the car and drove around just to spend time together listening to songs. Plus you knew Jimin would eventually end up singing to you; something that still melts your heart even after dating him for this long.

“Have you heard this Pentagon song?” you ask, grabbing the aux cord. He makes a noise but doesn’t really confirm anything. You eye him a little strangely. “Oh wait you totally have. You must have heard me playing it by now. I’m obsessed with it,” you say, brushing off his lack of comment and starting the song, miming the keyboard intro on the dashboard.

“You sure are,” he says, a little under his breath. You sing along to the song you’ve basically memorized. Not caring that he’s eyeing you while at this red light. Nothing could embarrass you in front of him anymore.

“Ooooooh this is my favorite part!!” you squeal and stick your hand in the air, as if you have to silence him. One of Pentagon’s members sings some beautiful high note and you can’t help but gush.

“Oh my god I love how high his voice is. Don’t you live that part?” you ask, expecting some normal conversation from the usually cheerful man. He kind of side smiles and shrugs his shoulders, mouth pressed closed. Strange, seeing as he normally can’t go 20 seconds into a song without taking a harmony part. “That’s it? Do you not like Pentagon or something? I can change the song..” you say, shrugging and ready to brush it off.

“No, it’s fine. Pentagon’s fine. Besides, if you’re so obsessed with them then they’re probably good,” he comments, keeping his eyes purposefully away from your gaze. You pause, wondering if he’s beingvthis obvious on purpose. Is he being a troll or is he actually jealous? Honestly, it’s hard to tell.

“Don’t get jealous, Jiminie,” you purr, teasing him with your tone of voice. He rolls his eyes.

“I’m not jealous,” he says, trying to remain casual.

“Come on...” you say, trying to get him to look at you. He finally gives in and meets your eyes, immediately smiling a little and breaking his overtly casual facade. “You know that if I’m going to swoon over anyone’s high notes, they’ll be yours.”

It’s corny, but you know that little reassurances like those mean the world to him. He smiles and squeezes your hand.

“I know.”

Taehyung:

Your friend sent you a link to their song a few weeks ago and it had been on rotation for you since then. Pentagon dropped a banger and now you can’t stop listening to it. In fact, it was playing in the car as you drove with your friend.

“Are we picking up Tae from rehearsal before dropping me off?” she asks, turning up the volume a little as you turn the corner.

“Yup!” You head down the block and pull over, parking and reaching for your phone to text Tae. A minute later he comes out and hops in the back, scooting forward in the seat to kiss your cheek and say hi to your friend.

“You’re listening to this again?” he asks, immediately recognizing the song that seems to be on loop whenever you’re around recently.

“It’s a good song!” you justify, knowing he can’t argue.

“Plus Pentagon is so spicy,” your friend adds. “I mean I don’t know about you but all I can think about when I hear this is them doing the dance to it and Yuto’s fricken low voice and UGHHH,” she babbles, completely unfazed by how candid she’s being.

“Oh please,” Tae says, taking a condescending tone of voice with your friend. They’ve always had a natural banter that usually leaves you cackling. “Someone’s gotten a little idol crazy since I last saw her,” he chides.

“Idol crazy? Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here, V,” she says using his stage name. “Maybe Pentagon crazy, but if I didnt know any better I’d say you were making assumptions about me, hm?”

Tae laughs and fakes a stinging pain where his heart is, clasping a hand over his chest as if he’s been wounded by her clap back. Soon enough you’ve pulled up in front of her building and parked. He hops out of the car as you say goodbye to your friend and slides into the passenger seat next to you. Your friend leans down onto the edge of the rolled down window, ignoring Tae and looking at you.

“Y/N, you should date someone from Pentagon and give me an in with the rest of the members,” she says, smiling sweetly and biting back a laugh at Tae’s shocked and horrified face. He’s always one for dramatics. You laugh and wave as she backs up.

“She would never!” he calls to her, rolling the window up.

“I’ll think about it!” you yell, just before the window closes fully. You hear her muffled laugh as she walks towards her building. You pull away and head home, Tae’s hand over your leg. A few moments of comfortable silence pass before you ask him how rehearsal was. You aren’t expecting his response to be a follow up question.

“You wouldn’t really date someone else right?” It’s so out of nowhere and unexpected that you look at him, wondering if you should laugh. “I mean you wouldn’t break up with me to...to try and date-“ he fumbles.

“No.” He looks at you with that goofy face, his eyes wide and his lips parted a little. He can be so naive sometimes. He really doesn’t get how entirely in love with him you are. “I wouldn’t. You know that,” you say calmly, squeezing his hand in yours. He smiles and immediately calms, blushing a little as he realizing how irrational his moment of doubt just now was. His hand slips from yours to your phone, scrolling through your playlist, you assume. The song changes and you smile, immediately looking at him to shoot him your best “Are you serious?” face. He’s perfectly pleased with himself, looking straight ahead and attempting to keep his composure as the first few notes of Singularity play.

Jungkook:

“Kookie, look at this!” you say, tossing him your phone from where you’re layed out on the bed, head opposite from his where he’s leaning against the headboard. The two of you had been relaxing on his day off, chilling at home and watching movies. He takes your phone and watches the video you had queued up for him. It’s a video of Pentagon doing Shine but as an acoustic version. It’s fun and colorful and the members look like they’re having fun with each other. He watches and smiles here and there. He hands your phone back to you before it’s over and you furrow your brow a little. You sit up and scoot closer to him, showing him again.

“Wait, but watch this part! They’re having so much fun!” you hold the phone for him to see the part you’re talking about. He watches and nods before looking at his phone again. “That’s it?” you say, expecting more of a reaction from him, at least on how the video is shot so well.

“It’s good,” he says, clearly not getting it like you do.

“Would you and the guys ever do something like this? I bet ARMY would love it,” you comment.

“Yeah, maybe. I don’t know,” he says, and you know he’s brushing it off.

“I just like how you can hear their voices so well. You can tell they’re super talented.” His interest seems peaked at that comment.

“Jagi, you can still edit a video that’s supposed to be acoustic, you know?” he says. You shoot him a suspicious look.

“I know!... and I don’t think I like your tone, Jungkook.” you say, sassing him right back. “I’m not saying you have to do it,” you begin, knowing how to peak his competitive interest. “Especially if you’re uncomfortable being that exposed.” He looks at you like you’ve accused him of treason. “You know, without all the mics and backup tracks and-“ you tease, getting cut of by him crawling over to you and poking your sides, making you laugh and squirm under him.

“Wait here,” he says, and gets up, leaving you flustered. He comes back a moment later and return with a guitar, the one Jin let him borrow to practice on. He pops back down on the bed and sets himself up, clearing his throat. “Get ready for the best acoustic version of War of Hormone you’ve ever heard,” he trolls, putting on a seductive face and strumming the guitar aggressively.

why people don’t take kpop seriously: a listicle

Invalid/ignorant reasons I’ve seen

large female fanbase

This is probably one of the biggest arguments I’ve seen for people not taking kpop seriously. This reasoning is invalid because it’s rooted in the idea that the thoughts and opinions of young women are invalid. You can even see this thought process with artists who feel like having male fans is more impressive/better than female fans. I completely understand that kpop fans period can be extreme and very annoying but that’s not exclusive to girls nor is it a reason to dislike the music itself. I personally can’t stand most artist stans but I can still respect artists enough to take their art seriously if that’s what they clearly want

lack of diversity, read: lack of white people

A lot of people complain that kpop doesn’t include enough westerners (which almost never means koreans born outside of asia, black people, southeast/southwest asians, etc.) as if white people must be included in all spaces. It’s dumb to have to say this but kpop doesn’t have to be white for white people to relate to it

Yeah, I’ve literally heard people say this... Not only is this blatantly xenophobic but it also makes no sense? If you can listen to and enjoy Latin music, which is largely infused with, and (in the case of certain culture vultures) ripped off of West Indian music, you can get into korean music. I understand the language barrier can be difficult but I can guarantee you that anyone who sang Despacito, Gasolina, or any Daddy Yankee/Wisin & Yandel/etc. track had no clue what those songs were about

Also, the people who say this are usually trying to cover up for latent gender normativity/xenophobia and don’t want to like it because the fashion/performative element usually doesn’t conform to gender norms and simply focuses on korean/east asian people

Valid reasons I’ve seen

kpop doesn’t take itself seriously

This is actually pretty true and very valid. You can see this in the way idols respond to certain questions like, “what is your favorite song right now?” “Do you listen to your own songs?”, etc. For example, very recently in an interview, Bam Bam asked an interviewer what songs he sings in the shower and the interviewer said a GOT7 song and not only did Bam Bam looked at him with that u lyin face but he also said ‘oh come on, we know that’s not true.” Now you can make the case that it was just a joke (I don’t doubt it), but it’s not the first time an idol has alluded to not liking their own work or not thinking of their own work as impressive/real music/etc.

Whenever an idol is asked about their favorite music, they always resort to either k-hiphop/k-r&b artists or american artists. They almost never cite their own music or even when they make public playlists, you’d be hard pressed to find their own songs (or even other kpop songs) on those artists’ playlists

kpop is western pop if western pop was trapped in the early 2000s

i’ve talked about this before on this blog and so have many others so I’m not going to expound on this too much. Just know that all idols attend the United States School of Popular Music and pass ‘Adult Contemporary & Popular Artists of the 1995-2005′ with flying colors

Again, I don’t really need to say much here because some idol groups are here 5+ years later with music that hasn’t changed since debut. There’s no reason why Du Duu Du Duu should sound like Boombayah’s cursed twin, Blackpink. Also, why do many idols seem to have copy paste personalities? I blame this point mostly on the companies themselves for controlling idols to some extent but at some point idols are just inauthentic

insensitivity & widespread inappropriate behavior being swept under the rug

this deserves its own post but nearly every popular idol has said/done things that are absolutely deplorable, with some even having whole sexual assault cases and drunk driving strikes against them as if putting other people’s lives in danger is a fun hobby. Dating is not a scandal, getting a sun tan (??) is not a scandal, cursing is not a scandal. Racism IS a scandal, blackface IS a scandal, sexual assault IS a scandal, homicidal tendencies IS a scandal. I swear a lot of k-fans have some backwards as perceptions of reality. The latter, NOT the former is what turns i-fans off from kpop the most

I've made my point clear that it's more ARMY than not. However I very easily could continue this argument. ARMY is problematic and it's on multiple occasions. It's not a small group of ARMY. When almost every K-pop fan can tell you about a shitty interaction they've had with an ARMY that's more than just a few. ARMY has ruined bts for my friends and is very close to ruining it for me. 6. Yea, Jonghyun’s death was something that really made me stop and think about how life can be so uncertain. It was really rough bc he was one of my biases and his funeral was on my birthday that year too and idk I kinda just didn’t really know how to continue being a fan of theirs after that. But like I said, I recently got back into them and just relish the fact that his voice has been immortalized through their older songs :’)

That show got me through the last few weeks of college I swear to god, and especially the eps where Wonho was a guest star had me DEAD 

9. Yea I don’t like actively stan a lot of groups but listen to a bunch here and there so I get what you mean! I guess for a while I was really into SNSD but it never got to the point that I’d say I was a stan. Svt and SHINee will always be my true loves (though yea Monsta X is creeping up there too)

11. I do love both dogs and cats (and all other animals) but if I had to only choose one to have as a pet I’d go with a dog for sure!! They’re just,,,so pure,,,precious BABIES. Just thinking about it makes my heart melt :’) But other than dogs, I had a phase where I was SUPER into pandas. okay it’s midnight and I should get writing because I can’t sleep in all day tomorrow which would afford me the ability to stay up later (that sentence was horribly phrased but I’m too lazy to fix it so oh well). today was pretty great! some stuff not ideal but overall still pretty good. I woke up to my alarm at 9 and got dressed and got prepared for our first quest of the day, which was trying to get yet another pair of concert tickets for a KPop band Jess wants to see. This was one she cares slightly less about so we weren’t under quite as much pressure to get the good seats, we were just aiming for the cheap ones. So I put our usual breakfast order in on ubereats and it arrived shortly after she did at around 9:30, the tickets went on sale at 10. Since we’ve had not great experiences trying to get tickets up to this point we wanted to try to maximize our chances of getting them by using multiple accounts (which is probably cheating but tbh idgaf I’m sure the ticket scalpers are doing much worse with many more tickets) so I had my main one up in my main browser and then the one attached to my old email up in another one (it was funny, I logged onto it and it was under the name “Ann”- my mom’s name- and the credit cards stored on it expired in like, 2012 😂) and then Jess had hers up on the chromebook. Unlike the other ones thus far this one wasn’t doing the thing where they had a virtual queue form 10 minutes beforehand, so it was just whenever they decided to let you in. The lack of a virtual queue was objectively a good thing because it meant there weren’t as many people trying to get tickets, but it also meant it was just totally random with everyone who was there at that minute. But thankfully we got in after not too long and Jess was able to snag two tickets before anyone else clicked on them (because it does this really annoying thing where the page with refresh with the available tickets and you’ll click two but when you try to go forward it says somebody else already got them and then refreshes your page and it’s a pain in the ass) and after some slight panic over getting the right credit card the tickets were ours for the least amount of money, so we were pleased with that result. May is gonna be crazy, as it stands we have at least 2 concerts (well 3 for Jess being that she’s going to BTS twice) in the same week and are very likely going to end up with another when the Monsta X tickets go on sale on Friday (and of course for them we’re trying for Chicago and New York, so it might involve a NY trip as well). so that’s gonna be a lot, but nothing we’re not used to haha at this point I think we thrive in chaos. So once we had that taken care of we grabbed our things and headed out to Jess’ car. In case I forgot to mention this up to this point we were cosplaying as Ariel and Snow White in their pajama outfits from Wreck It Ralph 2 which is 100% a lazy cosplay but I really give zero fucks because it was comfy and easy. So we drove down to the convention center, this isn’t in the one that most of the Chicago cons are in out by the airport (northwest of downtown in the top corner of the city) but rather C2E2 is in the convention center that’s adjacent to the loop that happened to be the place that they used for my law school graduation and bar swearing in, so I’ve had some very different experiences in this building, lol. I did my make up in the car and was fairly pleased with how it turned out. Once we got there there was some confusion about parking, we were originally planning on parking in one of their lots that’s right connected to the place so we didn’t have to walk in the cold (we were leaving our jackets in the car so we didn’t have to carry them all day; I was in shorts but was wearing my extra thick ice skating tights underneath them so it wasn’t terrible) but that didn’t end up happening so we had to walk in the cold a little bit but we managed. Later in the day Jess mentioned that apparently all of their parking had filled up and there were people with tickets who couldn’t get in because they didn’t have anywhere to park, so the con probably oversold their tickets in that sense. So we got in fairly easily, it was already opened at this point since we were doing the tickets that delayed our arrival a bit. So we start walking the show floor a bit and then decide we should check out artist’s alley first, but try not to buy anything on our first walk through, just consider stuff. the issue of course is that artist’s alley is generally full of great art, but I have literally no room on my wall for anything haha and I still have to hang up my 3 photo ops from London (though they are only 6x9′s instead of the standard 8x10′s so hopefully that will make it easier) and my Matt Ryan one from Cleveland. so I could really only consider very small things, lol. but there was a lot of cool stuff, always a pretty great assortment of different art styles and subject matters. I spotted a few things I may come back and get tomorrow, we will see. I really wanted to see if they had any art from The Cursed Child but I didn’t see anything, besides one drawing that I’m pretty sure was supposed to be Draco but could conceivably be Scorpius from the way he was drawn (but he was with drawings of the original trio so probably not). still a cool drawing though. so that took a while, though definitely less time than it did last year. So after that we went in search of anybody we might know that was there but didn’t see anybody, so we started wandering the show floor. Now, in terms of not needing to buy anything, this was even worse because the solid majority of it is clothing, and we both already own way too much clothing, especially comics related lol. so we made our way through most of everything, some cool stuff, not managed to refrain from buying anything up till that point. We had checked the schedule for panels at one of the smaller stages (their main stage panels are super crowded and there wasn’t anyone we cared that much about) and Colin Donnell (aka Tommy from Arrow) was doing one at 1:30 and it was like 12:50 at this point, so we went over to the little row of food vendors they had and managed to get some decent food for lunch that we sat and ate before returning to the panel stage and managing to find seats right before it started. It was pretty entertaining, he is very pretty in person, though that’s probably not a shock to many. He talked about Arrow of course but also about Chicago Med being that that’s his current show and it is after all filmed and set in Chicago. He also talked about his background doing Broadway which I wasn’t aware of so that was cool to hear about. one of the questions they asked him was like “if you’re on jeopardy, what category would you want the final jeopardy question to be from?” and I was like “musical theatre trivia” (answering somewhat for myself but also for him) and right after I said that he was like “broadway trivia” haha so I felt validated, that is definitely what I would choose given that question. So that lasted about half an hour and was pretty fun. After that we went back to wander the rest of the show floor that we hadn’t made it to yet, most notably a few KPop/Anime/etc. themed booths that were wild, Jess ended up getting into a conversation with these like high school girls about going to BTS and they were like, unironically fans of them when Jess is only a very ironic fan, and they were like “oh who do you stan??” and then the girl said she stans the one guy Jess hates and I busted up laughing at all of it, I couldn’t stop myself, it was truly hilarious. they were talking about the concert and what nights they were going and the girls were like “oh yeah Sunday’s gonna be tough you know because it’s a school night!” and I just fucking died because they’re clearly like 15. So that was very amusing. Jess ended up convincing me I needed one of the hats they sold at that booth, they were the snapback style with the big plastic letters attached across the top which said “THICC” in pink and I got it for the pure reason to wear to ClexaCon next month and it’s gonna be great, I of course put it on as soon as I bought it too. We then went upstairs to where they host the main stage panels just to check it out, there were a lot of people in very long lines, and I was glad I wasn’t in one of them. So we hung out up there for a while just to chill out a bit. We ended up heading back downstairs to see if we could locate an internet friend who’s working the con but we weren’t able to find her today (probably will see her tomorrow) and ended up finally seeing some people we knew, so we sat with them for a while until they ended up heading out, and after that we did a little more wandering before deciding to call it a day, it was a little earlier than we’d normally leave but Jess was feeling kinda crappy and there wasn’t really anything else we were dying to do so it made sense to just go home. Drove back and got dropped off, I changed into comfortable clothing and didn’t really have anything I needed to take care of so I ended up sitting on the couch and watching the last four episodes of season 5 of The Americans, stopping somewhere in there to make two eggs for dinner (which was a bad plan, I go through weird phases with food and I had convinced myself that I was fine eating eggs but I really wasn’t), and then before the last episode to shower before returning to finish it. This season happened to have a fairly brutal finale, in my opinion at least- trigger warning here for self-harm/suicide. So the plot was basically that they had befriended this family that had just defected from the Soviet Union and for some mildly important reason they wanted at least the wife and their son to go back, so one of the methods they employ is using their fake spy son (not their actual child) who had originally befriended him make things at school really bad for their son to the point where he would be so miserable that his mother would want to return to Russia with him. Well, it didn’t look like it was working, and their fake son ended up advising his friend to “slit his wrists” in order to get his parents attention enough for them to take him back, and the spy apparently “showed him” how to do it without hitting an artery, and the spy is calmly recounting this to his fake parents, saying he was going to do it at 7 pm that night, right when his parents were supposed to get home. Of course their majorly alarmed but were split on what to do because they didn’t want to compromise the mission, but the dad ends up storming out of their fake home and walking to their friend’s home and are trying to get in when his parents arrive, and so they get into the house and sent the spy son up to the other son’s room, and a second later you hear him yelling for help, so they storm upstairs to find the boy unconscious on his bed with blood all over his arms and bed. And I mean, I knew going into this episode I would probably see this (they left the previous episode at a cliffhanger about them intervening) but I really was not prepared for that image. And then of course his parents start freaking out and his mother is just next to him sobbing while everyone is scrambling to call 911 and try to bind his wounds the best they can until the paramedics get there and like.....the whole thing just made me so mad. To be fair, the main characters were very alarmed that this was used as a tactic and think their fake kid way overstepped in doing telling him to do this, but the whole idea of basically risking sacrificing the life of a child for a part of your mission that was not even very critically important meanwhile you go home to your own children.....like how as a parent could you ever live with yourself?? And I mean, I know these are spies that regularly just shoot people, some innocent some not, but like, interfering in this boy’s life to make him absolutely miserable and it culminating in something as horrible as this really just pissed me tf off. and I mean that’s for obvious reasons, this is an intersection of two issues I care deeply about, mental health advocacy and the wellbeing of children. So that whole storyline left me pretty angry. And I mean I know, it’s fiction, this didn’t actually happen, but just to see the callousness to the life of a child portrayed like that was really disturbing to witness. But I finished the episode and then turned the tv off for the night and started getting ready for bed, and shortly after I started writing this and now I am here. It’s almost 1 am and I have an 8:30 alarm set, so I think it is time for me to go to bed. Goodnight babes. Hope you’re enjoying your weekend.

As a dancer, I absolutely LOVE watching dance practice videos from kpop groups. This is definitely one of the reasons why I fell into the kpop hole because I watched this VIXX dance practice video daily since it was just so good. ALTHOUGH IT ISN’T MY FAV ERA, this choreography still gets to me. I love all of their choreography though!

SCREAMS AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS CHA HAKYEON!!! VIXX was the reason why I got into kpop. My first song was On and On and I kept staring at N in the MV (probably because of his hair color? It stood out a lot to me). It became really hard not to look at him in the videos I watched of them performing. It seriously feels like he’s trying to make everyone look at him. His stage presence always captivates me. Behind the scenes though, he’s just a huge dork that loves his members more than anything. He’s overall a great leader, and that’s what I love about him the most. I would go on and on (haha get it vcbvklclv) but this is already going to be too long so...

 ALTHOUGH I DID ENJOY TWICE’S COMEBACK, Ravi’s solo debut tops everything for me tbh.

lol the only thing I like about where I live is that it’s not as overcrowded as other states are in the U.S. ??  Definitely not as scary either. We’re still #1 in binge drinking though so YIKES

I’m a huge musical nerd, so I’ve always wanted to go to New York!! I finally am getting the chance to next year though, so I’d say my main vacation destination rn is between Europe and Japan. Like I’ve said, I’m an editor. A group of editors edited with one of their songs and I liked it so much that I started looking into the artist behind it and became WAY more obsessed than I expected I would ever be with them.

I mean I have biases in other groups, but just Hakyeon when it comes to ultimate.

Hello anon, thank you so much for your message! It’s nice to know some people actually read my tags I guess haha. I’m not gonna lie, at first when I read your message I was thinking of not replying… simply because we all know tumblr tags are messed up (especially on mobile) and I did not feel like people interpreting my response as hate towards Bangtan or to any of the members. But then I realized that for me in my heart I know my feelings about this whole situation are not based on hate towards either of those so I decided to respond anyways and I just hope that I will word everything correctly so that people reallize I am not a hater. It will be a long response, because as I said in my tags I have a lot of feelings about this, so I’m putting it under a read more :)

When I reblogged that post we’re talking about and put all those tags in, I was extremely angry. I can’t lie about that right now, because I was. Maybe it’s a petty response, but in a song that is 4 minutes and 34 seconds long you just cannot convince me there was no room for Hobi at all. That there was no room for him to get like four lines on his own or for Jin to have more than the two he did? Especially when some members take up like half the song? I just refuse to believe that I’m sorry… And especially to realize, if you look objectively, that the difference in ‘talent’, to put it as such, in Bangtan is not that big let’s be real. They are all extremely talented and no one is 1000 steps above the rest at all in my opinion.

I’ve been a fan since about July 2015, a little after the Dope era, so I have been around for four comebacks now (and a hell of a lot of other groups’ members leaving/groups disbanding) and I’ve said this before on twitter: I feel like the line distribution is getting worse in stead of better with Bangtan. Run was sort of okay for me, especially if you keep in mind the idea of main/lead vocals and sub-vocals, but after that it just got worse and worse imo. And apparently, judging by the response to Hobi having no lines in Spring Day and Jin having barely any solo lines in BST, people really don’t give a shit and want to disguise it under the ‘I love ot7 so let me reblog some posts complaining about the awful line distribution and be done with it’.

The outrage on my dash with the Hobi situation was pitiful, because (and maybe I follow the wrong people who knows) the only ones actually being mad were Hobi stans and some Jin/ot7 stans. The outrage for Jin was basically non existent and it still pisses me off till this day. And the biggest discourse was that people needed to just basically shut up and support Bangtan because otherwise, and wow guilt tripping much?, they would hurt Hobi in the process too. And I get that we all have our favorites, we all have our ranking of the members whatever, but how can you look at this situation and just not realize how damaging it could be in the long run? How damaging it could be for ot7. You don’t have to love and cry and yell about Hobi and Jin as much as you do your bias, but to stay mostly silent cause it doesn’t concern your fave? I just can’t relate…

I’m a Jimin stan, but that means to me I am realistic enough to realize I have nothing to worry about with him. That he will get his lines and his screentime and the attention from his fans. So why should I be blind towards the mistreatment of some of the others? Because I’m settled? Because Jimin is my bias so I have no worries? And I’m not trying to say people who don’t stan Hobi or Jin feel like this, but this is really how it comes across to me. And then everyone, and this annoys me the most, wants to hide behind one of two defenses, a) Bangtan love each other more than anything and they want to stay together forever so awul line distribution won’t break them up and b) Bangtan have a lot of creative control so they probably decided this was best for the song…

Which is funny, because in the same breath they want to oppose haters, which they should don’t get me wrong, by saying ‘don’t hate on *insert their bias here* because it’s not their fault, Big Hit makes the decisions not them’. Excuse me? But that is not how this works. You can’t want to claim they have full creative control and make the decisions themselves and then turn around and say it’s actually Big Hit. It’s either they make the decisions themselves and they are basically assholes for ignoring Hobi, and more specifically Jin in like every song, or they are all subjected to what Big Hit wants.

But to come to the actual point: whether people want to close their eyes to this situation or not, in the end this could be damaging for Bangtan. Do you really think Minzy from 2ne1 didn’t love her group and her members? Do you really believe that guy from Teen Top that wants to leave doesn’t love his group and his members? Do you really believe that someone like Minzy, to take her as an example, who was in one of the biggest girl groups in kpop, just casually decided to leave? Do you not think that she didn’t realize that if she left she will probably never have the income she had with 2ne1 again or that she most likely will never ever be as popular as she was when in the group? Yet she freaking decided to leave anyways, because as you said she got no work! And ofcourse she wanted some, even if that meant not living the live she did with 2ne1, but it would be at least some sort of a life. And this happens to idols all the time, and then they, shocking I know, leave… Awful line distribution, and awful equal promotion, will be the death of any group no matter how much they love each other and the fans or how successful they are.

And I just wish as a fandom we could collectively come together on these subjects a bit more. You don’t have to be a Hobi or Jin stan to be critical of Bangtan’s efforts and in this case their line distribution. And there is also nothing wrong with being a critical fan and trying to let them and Big Hit know that no fan is going to leave if they make everything a little bit more fair. I just don’t want it to come to Bangtan’s contract renewals in a few years and having one or two of them even contemplating leaving. As you said, Jin is graduating soon and many people in the industry have already said that he is a lovely person, easy to work with, funny, clever, hard working and on top of that a lot more multi-talented then people want to give him credit for. You really believe he has no chance of a career outside of Bangtan?

Let me say something positive though for once. If we move beyond the line distribution and take a look at the promo, Big Hit gives me a little bit of hope. 2016 has been a rather good year for all of them in my opinion. Yoongi had his mixtape, Jin had Law of the Jungle and some other variety shows, Tae had his acting, the Taejin OST (where they both proved even more that Bangtan’s line distribution is shit), some MC jobs for all of them on music shows, etc. I think that if you would write it down then their promotion seems to definitely be sort of equal, which gives me great hope that Big Hit will at least always try to promote them equally in that area. But it also seems to me they want them stuck in certain positions: Hobi being the dancer, Jin being the visual, Jungkook being the main vocalist etc. When they are so much more then that!

So what I’m trying to say is that I’m not trying to convince anyone that Hobi or Jin are going to want to leave over this whole thing, but please can we all for once as a fandom acknowledge Bangtan’s shortcomings and realize that if nothing changes (because this is not a one time thing with them), and if we don’t try to voice our concerns, it could come to a Minzy situation (or any other group member that has ever left their group due to disrespect basically). I just don’t want them in the future to break up or have some members leaving, and then have everyone cry their eyes out for a day when we could have done something about it now…

This became so much longer then I wanted to, and I probably didn’t even say everything I wanted to say, so I’m really sorry. And I mostly ranted about nothing you were talking about in your ask, but I needed to get this all of my chest. I always say this and I will say it again: I love Bangtan with all my heart, and I don’t plan on abandoning them anytime soon, but these comebacks just slowly become a little less enjoyable and I will keep hoping that next time will be better. That next time I won’t have to sit through the music video waiting for a glimpse of Hobi or Jin or anyone. I just want Bangtan to reach their full potential, because I really feel they haven’t yet, because I think they are 7 wonderful individuals who deserve nothing less.

dream job: I can’t choose just one. I want to write, not really sure about what, because lately I feel both comfortable writing small pieces of fiction and investigations. I’m deeply interested in cinema, so it would be nice to do something related to that too…but music is also my passion. And then there’s architecture, which is a big part of my world. There are so many things to do, I feel I would be happy to at least do one of these.

115 BTS FAN QUESTIONS!

I’m only going to answer like 20-30 at a time, because 115 is a loooot. But this looks like fun!

1. Who was your first bias and why? I guess we can say V was my first bias. When I first started getting into BTS, Tae stood out the most to me. Loved his voice, loved his cute spunky personality. 2. Who’s your bias now and why? Jung Hoseok, J-Hope. I wrote a long story about this on my Instagram, but basically when I saw BTS live, J-Hope completely stole my heart. I wasn’t expecting that at all, I truly thought I would remain a V stan. But there was something about J-Hope that immediately stood out to me and I fell in love. Now the more and more I see about J-Hope, the more it confirms he was meant to be my ult bias. (It really is true when kpoppers say you don’t choose your bias, he chooses you) 3. What’s your earliest BTS related memory? Honestly, it’s hard to say. I only started getting into BTS (and kpop in general) last year. I think the first MV I ever watched was Blood, Sweat & Tears – it’s one of the first songs that REALLY got me into kpop and BTS. 4. What do your friends and family think of your love for BTS? Ahahaha, I’m pretty sure 90% of them find it weird/annoying. My mom calls them BTSD and/or the Korean Justin Bieber (Hobi). My stream viewers make fun of me for it. Anything BTS related I post on my social media no one gives a F about. I really wish I had a good circle of kpop friends. 5. What’s your opinion of BigHit? Honestly, I think BigHit has done everything right in the kpop realm, which is one of the main reasons why BTS is so successful. They post a LOT of BTS content, so it just feels like and endless flow of BTS videos/photos/social media to keep up with -  which keeps fans drawn in. They keep the boys personal life PERSONAL (no public dating like SM does with groups like EXO). The boys have really great personalities on camera and it really makes you fall in love with them. Hats off to BigHit. 6. What is your favorite era so far? I guess I’d say the current era or the “Wings” era. I love all of the boy’s solo songs - it gives them their own time to shine. Not Today is also an amazing song. Plus, the boys have really been in the spotlight lately so it is amazing to see all of their hard work pay off.

7. Do you like the boys mainly for their music? I’d say so, yeah. Of course I find each of them very handsome and their looks stand out a lot, but I’ve listened to basically every single song they’ve put out there, including covers and random songs. Plus I’ve watched what seems like hundreds of dance videos. Male kpop dancing always stood out to me, especially Bangtan. They also have some incredible, beautifully written music (especially listening to their solo songs like Lie, Hey Mama, Begin, etc.) 8. What are your five favorite songs? 1) I NEED U, 2) Cypher 4, 3) Boy Meets Evil 4) House of Cards, 5) Fire

9. What’s your favorite album and why? Either Wings or The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever. Both have too many good songs. 10. How did you discover BTS? When I first started getting into kpop, mostly through watching different MV on YouTube - I believe my first BTS song was BST and then Fire. Eventually I started listening to other songs.

11. Is there a BTS song that makes you cry?   I think I almost cried when I heard I NEED U live, because it is my favorite song. Yoongi’s solo song, First Love, made me emotional. Also 4 o’clock made me very teary eyed. Don’t think I’ve flat out cried, though. 12. Is there a BTS song that you can’t stand at all? Lol, I just had to look through all of Bangtan’s songs to see if there was one I really didn’t like. Not really, can’t think of any songs I hate. I know during this last Festa they did those ‘kid’/’cute-sy’ versions of some of their songs and honestly I really wasnt a fan :P haha 

13. Favorite song from 2 COOL 4 SKOOL? I just wanna say that I love the older albums, because they are very hiphop-esque, including the skits and all. I really LOVE the hip hop side of BTS - so these older albums are just great. That being said, No More Dream is my favorite from this album.

14. Favorite song from Skool Luv Affair? SPINEBREAKERRRR :P Though for a while I looooved Boy in Luv, when I first was getting into BTS that was one of my fave songs.

15. Favorite song from O!RUL8,2? We On, I think 16. Favorite song from DARK&WILD? 17. Favorite song from The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 1? I NEED U 

18. Favorite song from The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 2? Hmmm, this one has a lot of good songs. House of Cards is one of my favorite songs ever, so I choose that. 19. Favorite song from The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever? FIREEEEEEEEEEE.

20. Favorite song from WINGS? AYYYYY this is hard. I wanna say Boy Meets Evil because of Hobi, but that song is so short. Maybe Cypher 4. 2! 3! is also good. IDK. I ENJOY EVERY SONG ON THIS ALBUM THATS WHY ITS MY FAVORITE. 21. Favorite song overall? I still have to say that I NEED U is one of my favorite songs of all time. But goodness, they have so many top songs for me. 

22. Favorite music video? Either Fire, Boy Meets Evil, or Save Me. OR BLOOD SWEAT TEARS? AHHH. THEY HAVE SO MANY GOOD MUSIC VIDS.

23. Least favorite music video? Maybe War of Horomone, lol. I don’t really care for their videos where they’re trying to hit on girls. LOL.

24. I NEED U mv or RUN mv? They’re both visual AF. I think I like I NEED U better. 25. DOPE mv or FIRE mv? FIRE! 26. Do you get nostalgic over rookie BTS? Not really, cause I wasn’t into the fandom back then. Also, I’m 24 years old - and they were all babies back then. So it feels weird for me to go back to their rookie stuff - I prefer them now ;P
