family all pushed me to go look at a car and apply for the car even though i knew i would not be approved and i would get attached to it and whaddya know i was not approved and i got attached to it and for all the pushing they did for me to try and get this car none of them want to cosign. fuck you guys

new girl moving in because it will help us afford bills / an apartment. i cant get approved for a lease. like you need to make 3x the amount of rent to even apply to most apartments. i probably can pay for rent and live in these spaces but i don't have enough to impress the landlord. i don't have any credit, i don't have any assets, i don't have any cash. those statements aren't accurate but they are. i have $700 i can spend on my credit card, $5000 something in debt. $1500 cash in my account, so that's a decent amount but i'm still paying into the house we're living at now and my monthly payments, and i don't have an assets. then Char and Steff have credit card debt together so we have to pay her like $1000+ each month so i'm not. sure how he expects to do much of anything or live in a decent area. i'm glad he's optimistic but. i don't know how we can afford regular rent, then credit card payments to Steff (outside of whatever the credit card company's already expect us to pay monthly), food, utilities, gas for the car, fun? basically. living is expensive and i never thought i would be so fucked.

ADDITION:: aggravated because of Steff and her money. she buys things all the time, which she should be able to. but i am upset i am not in her position. she gets to go and live her own life and have her own apartment and spend her money how she wants, get a car if she wants. she can do anything because she makes over 100,000 and probably has 40,000 in credit lines. which is how they got so far in debt but come on. i want to buy coffee and snacks or small things from amazon. since i moved it's not about me. it's about the house. i buy some small things, i do some fun things. but. not really. i would be spending my time, energy, and money much differently if i wasn't in this relationships

pt3: it will make the money situation better but i don't like that and shouldn't have to like that. most relationships wouldn't say, yeah let's do it! if their partner said, hey we don't have enough money. so let's start dating another person so the bills are easier to cover!! like wtf why. why did he allow himself to be in this situation and why did i allow it as well! why did / do i trust him!! it all makes sense logically but i am upset and tired. the whole time i've been with him i've been rationalizing his choices. it makes sense to sell my car, it makes sense to get a credit card and contribute to the house and the family, it makes sense to do a lot of the domestic house work when i am unemployed. it all makes sense logically but i'm honestly tired of it. when will we be able to make the decision that i want. or that doesn't have to be the perfect solution, only what i want. i don't know how much longer i can go along with these "makes sense" solutions. i want my own car, i don't care if it doesn't make sense. i want to have more time between a serious breakup and then starting to date a new person, that one, my point of view makes sense. i don't want to live with 3 people, 3 incomes - i don't care if it makes sense. i want to go on dates, even if it doesn't make sense. i want to live, actually live life and not work work work work work work work. i feel like the whole time i've moved that's the attitude. work work work work. nothings ever enough work work work. which is a kinda good mindset, we all have room to grow no matter how much weve grown in the past. but. i want to be spoiled. i know life probably doesn't work this way but i thought my 20s would be easy. i thought i would be taken care of, i never thought that i would be in my 30s still fighting for a stable house, professional life, and a good relationship. i hate that. it makes me want to throw a fit. i thought my 20s would be building my life. and my 30s would be relaxing. i know that is unrealistic but i am a cute girl. there are so many cute girls that own property and have millions of dollars by the time they're 18/20. i shouldnt compare myself to those people but wtf. i am prettier and cooler. now im getting petty and dramatic but not really!! wtf!!!! why and how did my life go this way!! the beginning of my life wasn't fun or pleasant. the middle wasn't. my beginning adult life was ok. and now my current adult life is ok. i want to be taken care of. i want free time. i want money i can spend and buy what i want without being stressed about bills. grr. mm.

Spider-Man Read-Through 011: Welcome to 1970! (ASM 83-87)

The last time, we finished the sixties and entered the seventies. I don't know anything about the next three years, and then I have ample familiarity for the three years after that. Very happy to delve again in new material!

In this post, we see a new costume (but for whom?), a sidekick (but whomst?) and Spidey's biggest, most ferocious enemy.

It's a doozy!

Unfortunately, Stan Lee doesn't seem to be able to let go from the Kingpin, who's a constant hamper on my enjoyment of these arcs. Someone's out there to replace him (new super-villain called "The Schemer") but I'm sure the Kingpin will quickly see red...

However, we're once again talking about the mysterious lady driver! I still wonder who she is, I never actually got an answer.

And she's here! Vanessa! So she's definitely his wife. Huh! And she drops a bombshell that actually made my mouth gape: their son has disappeared! I didn't expect that. I'm already invested in that. Hell yeah. Vanessa's convinced Richard is dead, but I'm not so sure.

What also made me gasp was this! Flash's leaving and I'm sad, but then MJ *and* Gwen kiss him, because of course they do!

Another gasp-inducing happening is that Peter on-page questions the Vietnam War. Didn't expect that!

He's also recently been on the verge to reveal his secret to Gwen, but of course he's not gonna do it. This issue is very interesting as to how much of a reaction it is to the reader's letters: a lot of soap, the secret tease...

But Peter and Gwen get almost hit by a car and Gwen falls unconscious, because she's a girl.

For the second time in a short number of issues, Spidey jokes about a villain getting his lines from a shlocky manual. The MCU certainly didn't invent that type of quips (but seeing Spidey be so self-aware feels a bit wrong, like, come on, Stan, you don't get to be high and mighty about your usual dialogue).

The Schemer escapes Spidey's wrath after trying to use comically specific traps. But Gwen does her usual "oh, I don't know if I can love you ever again" shtick and we all frown, because "you were away when I woke up in the hospital" is certainly a reach. Meanwhile, I'm more certain than ever that her dad will guess Peter's identity.

Overall a nice issue! I always like me some soap.

In the letters, Jean Laidig sets themselves apart by suggesting giving powers not to May, but to Gwen! I hope you enjoyed Into the Spider-Verse, buddy. People also keep praising the Prowler.

At the beginning of issue 84, Spidey surmises that now, the Schemer's capture is worth 5000 dollars and is worth it... in today's money, it's a bit less than 39.000 dollars. Good grief.

Peter goes to the Stacys, but is quickly trapped between the father and the daughter, who keep asking him questions. Whoops.

The Kingpin is now also convinced that his son killed himself because he's seen news about his dad being a supervillain. Hm. That makes the Kingpin a more interesting character, but I think Richard would actually be a great character if he was still alive. I'm hoping he is.

And I actually think... he might be?

At one point in the issue, Vanessa tries to stop the Kingpin and the Schemer from fighting, but she sees something in the Schemer's eyes and next thing you know, they both disappeared. The next issue is supposed to reveal the Schemer's secret. So he does have one. Is he Richard aged up? What the hell's going on?

In the letters, Bruce Long informs everyone that Peter should be exempt from draft because his dad was in the CIA and Peter's his only child. Actually interesting!

Peter gets surprised once again by the Stacys, but they once again let themselves be fooled by his theater kid energy. And fool them, he does, by acting as if he had issues with Spider-Man. Good thinking, kid!

Turns out the reward I mentioned higher was bogus, since it was actually a trap set up by the Kingpin.

AND IT TURNS OUT I WAS (mostly) RIGHT! The Schemer *is* Richard! He just made a mask. Hell yeah. Now it makes sense, why his villain antics seemed so awkward.

Unfortunately for the Kingpin, his son's reveal shocks him so bad he becomes catatonic. Hopefully we don't see him for a few issues... although he finally got interesting! Now give me more of Richard, dammit!

It's a really good ending to the arc though.

But wait, about the next issues...

Natasha, kill him! Rip him in half!

What I didn't account for, however, was Natasha immediately recounting her backstory and mentioning her "hopeless" romance with Hawkeye. Uh oh, this combined with the previous meme is quite awkward. I mean, I'm laughing, but oops.

Natasha changes her costume because, in the words of one of Totally Spies's openings, "you have to be fashionable if you want to be a spy". I actually prefered her previous costume, it was quite elegant, but oh well. So Natasha considers that, since she has the same powers as Peter (no she doesn't), she has to fight him to be in the spotlight. Oof.

Her fighting style is pretty close to the Tarantula we'll see in a few years! That's nice. She also says Spidey must have been "born this way", which is proof that he's queer. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

She gives up on page 18, and Stan helpfully informs us that Black Widow is about to get her monthly magazine. Thanks, Stanny dear, I'd never have guessed!

This issue's a nice change of pace. i'd be interested to check out BW's adventures! So Stan succeeded, I guess. If anybody has a specific arc to recommend...

Great letter, finally something new!

Predictably though, Keith Stern asks for less love and more action. Can't satisfy everyone now, can you? Joe Sykora is happy that #82 was at least 100 panels (he counted 124).

Ooooh! I mean, it can only be Captain Stacy, right?

Pete wants to analyze his blood to see if his powers are disappearing, but he can't focus - and Dr. Connors is in Florida. To make matters worse, it's also Gwen's birthday, teased multiple times throughout this arc (this is the fourth mention, by my count).

SO PETER STEALS A NECKLACE FOR HER.

At Gwen's party, I'm saddened to witness a terrible fact:

Harry's outfits have become less fun. I miss what he had before! Also, apparently Randy and his boyfriend Josh are here too! Why not.

Peter's actually lost his mind, because he crashes the party just as it was ending.

I was shook.

I think we can definitely say that Peter is being whumped, and to great effects! We love to see it.

Oh this is delightful.

MJ: Wow, Gwendy, you sure can pick 'em! He's either a masked menace or a psycho case!

We love bitchy MJ in this house.

Turns out what actually hampered Peter's wellbeing these last issues was the flu! Peter does nothing to beat the "men are weak" allegations (I can confirm, I'm a baby when I get sick, although my gender is. essentially non-existent. but let's not talk about that).

AND THEN OH MY FUCKING GOD. HE'S BACK. HE'S FUCKING BACK. MY MAN HOBIE BROWN IS BACK. I'M SO HAPPY!!!!!! I'm so glad I didn't check when and if he'd be back! Oh my God, oh my God!!!!!!!

No, you don't get it. I'm ecstatic! A TEAM-UP? I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE. HOBIE AS A SIDEKICK? Even as just a five-pages event, I love it! Oh my fucking god, YES!!!!!

This issue is fantastic and I can't understate how joyous I am of seeing Hobie again, after so many years not knowing what would happen to him! Aaah I love it.

A Rough Start

Making a move from the San Francisco Bay Area to Taipei Taiwan in the middle of the pandemic went surprisingly smoothly. The plane and airports were empty, there were no delays and there were no lines at check-in, TSA, or immigration. On the plane I had the entire row to myself (as well as the one in front and behind me) which made it more pleasant than flying in non-pandemic times. The only challenge was wearing a face mask the entire time (maybe close to 20 hours from door to door). You can see it all in this video:

However, on my third day here I had to go to the emergency room after splitting my chin open while working out in my room. It was a funny and silly accident. I brought resistance bands to work out. I thought it would be a good idea to hook the resistance band to the office chair that was provided in the room. After a few reps, the headrest detached from the chair and flew into my face. It hurt! I touched my face and checked if my teeth were still there. It seemed my teeth were fine. However, I noticed my hand was getting covered in blood. I didn’t know where it was coming from. So I ran to the bathroom. It turns out my chin was bleeding quite a bit. I ran some cold water on it, pressed it down with a t-shirt for 10 minutes to try to stop the bleeding. I called June to ask for advice. I was still jet-lagged and not thinking clearly (plus I had just knocked myself on the head with what is essentially a two-meter slingshot).

She asked me if I wanted to go to the ER. I told her I can’t leave the room. I just needs bandaids. She called the hotel reception and had them send some bandaids and something to clean the wound. I used them immediately. Things seemed to be calming down.

I had a call with June and explained what had happened. She also talked to her sister and the police. The authorities said that if I wanted to to the ER I would have to first do a PCR test. I sent her a photo of my wound and she said it was bleeding too much. She asked the reception to send up bandages.

At the time I arrived, Taiwan required 2 weeks of quarantining in a designated quarantine hotel. Going to a hospital seemed a bit complicated. Thankfully, June’s sister is a nurse and she arranged for a quarantine taxi to take me to the hospital.

The taxi arrived and the receptionist told me to come down. I took 5000 Taiwanese dollars with me. June reassured me it would be more than enough. The taxi already knew my destination. We didn’t speak much but we only spoke Chinese. It was raining, and I was looking at the streets of Taipei and taking in the sights. This was my chance to get out of my quarantine and possibly the only time I would get fresh air during these two weeks.

We arrived in front of a large hospital called McKay Memorial Hospital (馬偕紀念醫院). The taxi driver rolled down his window and addressed a hospital employee explaining that he had a foreigner in the car. The word “foreigner” got thrown around a couple of times, after which we were told to go to the back entrance.

At the back entrance I was told to exit the taxi and walk to a building and wait outside. A nurse greeted me and spoke some English. She asked me to fill out a form and asked for an ID. I gave her my California ID. She told me to sit on the chair which was outside the building and left. The form was in both English in Chinese but the bottom section was Chinese only, so I was glad I could read it. It was pretty small but I took my time to fill it out because I had never filled out such a form before. 

She came back 10 minutes later and asked if had my passport. Unfortunately I didn’t because I left in a rush and only thought about bringing cash. Luckily, I remembered that when I applied for the Taiwan Gold Card I had uploaded my passport picture to their website. So I was able to login from my phone and download it. The nurse took my phone (unlocked) and disappeared for what felt like an eternity. I had never given my unlocked phone to anyone. It was a forced exercise in “letting go”.

I sat there and waited. The wind grew stronger and so did the rain. The trees were waving about against a background of large concrete buildings. The combination of city life and tropical weather is a refreshing and curious experience. I told myself this was my chance to experience the outside world during these two weeks. I better enjoy it.

Soon after, a nurse called me into the building. She brought me to doctor Wang, who spoke English fluently. After a few questions about allergies and whether I’m single, he asked me to take off my face mask and examined the wound. He explained that he would have to suture it and that he would first inject an anesthetic to make it painless. In addition, he asked me if I had had a Tetanus vaccine recently. I didn’t remember, so he ordered one.

The nurse took me to another room and told me to lie down. She cleaned the wound. She returned later with the Tetanus shot and asked me to sit up and uncover my arm. She injection was quick but a bit shaky. Then I lied down again. Doctor Wang came back and covered my head with a towel which had an opening. I couldn’t see anything but the opening would allow him to work on my chin. He injected the anesthetic and proceeded to sow me up. His work was impressively focused and precise. In cooperation, I did my best to remain completely still. When he was done he told me to make sure I don’t get the stitches wet and that I should come back in 10 days to get them removed.

Afterwards I was asked to go outside and sit on the chair again. A few minutes later a nurse came and told me to follow her into another building. She brought me to an office where a lady sat opposite me, asking me in Chinese how I would like to pay. I replied「現金」(”cash”) and she gave me the total. Meanwhile the other nurse handed me two packets and explained to me that I would have to eat this medication after every meal and use the ointment to clean my wound. Everything happened quickly and in Chinese. I paid 2 bills totaling about $3600 NT, which is about $126 USD, a friendly amount for an ER visit while uninsured (including medication).

I was then brought back to my chair outside and told to call a quarantine taxi. “Call 1922” she said. I called. I heard a menu all in Chinese and was very confused, but the last item said “For English press 7” which I pressed without hesitation. A man responded to me in English and I explained my situation: “I’m at the hospital and need to go back to my quarantine hotel, so I need a quarantine taxi”. The friendly man understood but said this was the wrong number. I had to hang up and call 1999, which I did. This time the menu was entirely in Chinese. There was no option for English. I listened to the menu 5 times, trying to block out the surrounding noise and focus on the voice. In the end I randomly pressed 2. A woman picked the phone in Chinese and I asked「請問，妳會說英文嗎？」(”excuse me, do you speak English?”) She said no. I told her「那我先試試看可不可以用中文」(“Then, let me try in Chinese first”). After I explained my situation she passed the phone to her manager who spoke English. He said he would send a taxi my way.

The taxi called me afterwards. He only spoke Chinese and asked me what entrance I was at. I told him I’m at the back entrance. He said he was on his way. The manager from the previous call called me back and said the taxi was on its way and told me its license plate number. I only remembered half of it. He gave me an estimate of 15 to 20 minutes.

I waited, it was getting dark and the rain was still pouring. The wind was still blowing. My phone rang and the taxi driver said he was here. I walked towards the street and asked him if it was the white car, which he confirmed. He was holding a bottle of sanitizing spray and asked to stand with in the shape of a 大 so he could spray me down. He also sprayed some in my hands. We got into the car and again I got a chance to observe the city. Each time the car stopped I could observe in more detail. I particularly like watching people hanging out casually on plastic chairs or stools in front of a store and enjoying tea, chit-chatting, or playing some board game.

I arrived at the hotel and they provided me a key to return to my room. Usually when you quarantine you don’t get a room key because you are not allowed to exit your room. I felt this was a privilege.

Back safely and stitched up, it was time to figure out how to shower. How do I wash my hair and face without getting my chin wet? I was a combination of bandages, tape, a face mask and changes in my shower routine. Can’t wait to remove these stitches and wash properly.

DWD Reviews: Dry Hard or The One and Only Liquidator.. Episode.

Happy Birthday Liquidator! I nearly missed this, I procrastinated a bit too much, but thankfully I got this in time for the anniversary of Dry Hard. Now technically, by airing order LIquidator first showed up in “Just Us Justice Ducks”buuuuuut since that applies for a good chunk of the first appearances there, I choose to go with his first chronological appearance instead. So i’m breifly dipping back into the road to just us justice ducks for one quick review before getting back to life and times and three cabs. Thankfully there’s only one major Disney Birthday next month, and it’s Panchito, so I can fold it into the ride of the Three Caballeros, and hopefully by then i’ll be into the legend of the three cabs itself. But enough insight into my creative process let’s talk about Dry Hard and ole Liquidator himself? I won’t be doing my usual play by play.. partly due to time constraints, as I got to this review far later than intended due to a bungled sleep schedule and another, real world stuff related project I wanted to finally get done. And partly because this episode, while excellent, is pretty simple in it’s plot and being more of a comedy episode, as most Darkwings are honestly, ther’es no real space to dig into a lot of character stuff and most of it would be spent saying “that’s really funny”. And if i’m going to be doing more Darkwing reviews, and try and branch out into more comedy shows period, I’m going to need to try some things once in a while.  The plot in short: It’s an incredibly hot day in St. Canard. While Drake is trying and failing to set up his new sprinkler system, he needs a 3/4 picniey flange as everyone keeps telling him, Gosalyin is profeteering and is in full “little shit” mode, offering consturction workers nearbye complimentary oversalted ships to get them to buy her lemonade.  To make matters worse Bottled Water around the city is turning up gross, as is the tap water, we get a great bit with some yuppie valley girls over that, and an overly hot Darkwing, I mean he’s always hot but still, finds only two brands haven’t been poisoined. His and launchpad’s faviorite and one ran by Budd Fludd. Given his name and his schister apperance, it shouldn’t shock you Budd is behind things and while posioning his competitors and being confronted by darkwing, and acompanied by his two backup dancer’s/minons, he falls into the water, melts, jesus bud what’d you put in there, and seemingly dies.  Naturally Darkwing isn’t that lucky, and instead it’s a super villian origin story as Budd has become the liquidator, and after giving Darkwing a through beatdown and Darkwing narrowly escaping turns all the city’s water hard, just go with it, to blackmail people into paying 5000 dollars for his product. Darkwing persues him, in a swim costume Liquidator chuckles at and compares to his cousin as seen above, and finally using that flange beats him temporarily.. and then for good when Bud shows up at his house, using wet cement to make his new foe into a statue.  The reason for my brevity is this episode is the plot’s fairly simple.. but not bad at all. It provides a great origin for liquidator, and a creative foe for Darkwing to fight, one he can’t gas or punch and has to use clever tactics to fight, while Liquidator keeps pulling out new powers to fight back. But all make some logical sense, except for him being able to turn everything into hard water but hten we wouldn’t have a plot so kay, and up the stakes and his solution is both creative and makes sense given Darkwing was doing some work on the house,so the cement was well set up. It’s not bad by any means, in fact i’d call it excellent, it’s just a bit simplier than the last few episodes i’ve talked about and more about getting more gags and action in and given how creative and funnyt his one is I can’t complain. And character wise Drake is just being his usualy stubborn self, insiting he’s “the original mr.fixit’ when tha’ts clearly not true. It’s a simple standard comedy sueprhero setup: there’s a problme in their life, and solving that problem beats the bad guy. I’m mostly familiar with this sort of set up from the early 2000′s as the boom of teen hero shows really loved this trope and it’s generally a good one. 

As for Liquidator himself.. he’s utterly fantastic. His pitch man gimmick is great, his minions, two sinigng showgirls who repeat what he says, are never not funny, and he himself has good banter with darkwing and intresting powers. It’s a shame this is his only solo apperance as the guy had a LOT of potential and most of the crew’s arguments... just kind of fall flat. 1) He’s too Powerful Then just scale him down like you ended up doing. The show has a wonky timeline and two diffrnet negaducks, it’s okay if a character comes back with less powers so you can use htem more. Just being able to shape himself and blast water is enough. You can remove his hydrokenisis with other water that isn’t part of him (though he could always gain the abliity to add more to him to keep it intresting), ablility to transmute water, ablility to boil himself, and abliity to turn into tiny gremlins when split up. No one would’ve carred for a good few decades and I would’ve understood.  2) His gimmick of talking like he’s out of a commerical is limited Not really. HIs debut had times where he talked normal and advertising has a long history. It’s TRICKY to write for but the payoff is a really funny runner.  3) Coming up with ways to defeat him This one’s a bit more understandable but as creative’s that’s your job, and there’s tons of ways to beat a water based foe, as spider-man can attest. 

MY point with all that is, there’s a lot of ways around the issue set up here, and it’s a real waste of one of darkwing’s best foes. Especially since his origin is intresting, he has unique minions, and a REALLY cool apperance. That might of also been part of it: The liquidator is animated, to use a pun, very fluidily you can see his water bubbling when he stands sometimes and the animation is REALLY beautiuful and well done. So that easily could’ve been part of it: unlike the other villians he’s also harder to animate so they just went iwth theo nes they already had who were easier to deal with. It’s really a sad, wasted opprotunity and the character deserved better.  So yeah overall, a fun, slight episode, with a great villian who again, deserved way better and could’ve been written around more. But if you have D+ check out Dry Hard. It’s a classic and if you haven’t checked out Darkwing it’s an excellent episode to gage wether you’ll like the series or not.  Coming up we finally take a look at one of my faviorite Disney shows, House of Mouse, then dive back into scrooge’s life stoyr. I originally decided that I was going to give MiMi hell about dragging me into a fucking group therapy session that was supposed to be about fucking Trey and his suicide shit. Now I'm like fuck it. Why do that? Even more I'm sitting here thinking about how fucking happy my wife is with me.

"Aye, Bae?"

"Mommy, I want purple!" JJ says. "Grape!"

She puts all of the freeze pops in front of him. "Quit yelling. You pick out purple then."

"Purple." JJ says then smiles. "And Blue."

"I said one."

JJ puts it down. "Please, Mommy. Please I get two?" He whispers. "Please."

She rolls her eyes leaving a blue. "Get it and go outside to April."

"My grandma?"

"Yes, JJ." She smiles. "What?"

JJ does a complete 180 in the air. "Huh, Mommy?"

"Talking to your daddy."

I look away from him at her. I love the hell out of MiMi. I know she loves me. I don't know if she like... Damn I'm being like Chris and Trey. Why wouldn't she love me? Why wouldn't she be happy?

"You don't seem happy about this wedding." I say.

"What do I supposed to be happy about? I liked the dress. What other details I know?"

"You not wanting to be a part of it."

She smiles touching my face. "Cause I don't want to make any demands for something we really don't need. It's not gonna make me love you more."

"Money is the..."

"Root of all evil." She says pushing me. "You in your feelings?"

I shrug. "I been in my feelings then you come making me be a part of that therapy shit. What you wanted to make me cry or something?"

She nods. "That would be cute."

"It wouldn't man." I shake my head. She laughs shaking her head. "See you know it wouldn't be cute. My black ass crying. Fucking tar baby crying."

"You are not that black."

Caden stares at me with his face frowned. I had him laying on his back on the floor. I was hovering over him staring at him. He seemed truly deep in thought. I look at Caden. Damn, I stared at Cammie too long and he sleep. Little fucker was supposed to stay up with me. He fucking promised me. Maybe not. I pick him up and lie him down in his bassinet. "You told grandma?" I snap.

I'm just standing here being nosey. I haven't done much thinking about Forrest baby mama either. I always mean to ask him about everything. "(Y/N) I did something really bad."

You looked up at him. "What?"

"I stole something." You grew confused.

"What did you steal?"

The words kept replaying over and over in your head as you walked down the halls.

"I stole a lot of money."

"How much?" You asked.

"$5000 dollars." You looked at him shocked.

He told you he couldn't go to school for a few days. It was too dangerous. He told you he stole the money from his mothers boyfriend and it was possible he was looking for him. You told him that he could hide out in your bedroom, but he said he might go over Bobby's.

You walked over near Bobby and the rest of Hanbins friends. They all looked pretty worried for their friend. As you were near you over heard them talking and glancing over near the principals office.

"What the hell is Hanbin's mom doing here and she brought that low life." You glanced in the direction they were looking. You saw a women and scruffy man. "What a dick. You think that is his suit?"

You glanced over once again and saw the principal bring in Mrs. Kim and the man glanced over at your circle. His face went immediately to hatred and marched over.

"You." He pointed to Bobby. "You're friends with the little shit. Where is he?"

"I haven't heard from him in weeks." He lied being convincing.

"Bullshit."

"I swear."

"Listen hear punk." He grabbed Bobby's collar and pushed him into the lockers. "You tell him if I see him. I won't hesitate to put a bullet through his-"

"Jaesun." You glanced over to the voice with tears in your eyes as the women called him.

"Put that boy down, what business is this?" The principal said.

"I'll find him, and if I find out you're hiding him, I'll come back for you." He said before he walked back to the principal.

"Prick. How the fuck am I suppose to know where he is, he didn't stay at my house last night." Bobby straightened out his shirt.

"He stayed at my house last night." You said finally.

They all looked at you with mixed emotions. "(Y/N)." Bobby looked at you concerned. "You can't get involved in this. It's too dangerous."

"I'm not letting anything happen to him, especially from that asshole." You said.

Bobby smiled at you, passionately. "Nothing will happen to him. We'll make sure of it."

Hanbin walked through town during school hours to buy some food. He didn't want to take your food or Bobby's, he felt like he wanted to help himself. He was on his way to the local grocery store when a cop car pulled up and the siren went off grabbing his attention. He was planning to make a run for it until his father was the one to come out of the drivers side.

Hanbin sighed dramatically and looked at the ground. "Why aren't you in school?" His father was at his throat.

"You stopped caring about my life."

"Stop with the attitude, answer the question." He said stern.

"Or what? You're gonna arrest me dad." He looked at him straight in the eyes.

His father pinched his nose stressed from his son lack of discipline. "Please just tell me why you haven't been in school. 13 unexcused absences? It's the beginning of the school year."

He just looked down not answering.

"Why don't you live with your mother anymore?" Was his next question. "She says you haven't been home in weeks."

"I'm surprised she kept count." He smirked.

"This isn't funny. She is worried sick about you." His father said with concern.

"She's doesn't care about me."

"Of course she-"

"If she worried so much, she would of stopped her boyfriend from giving me this right here." He pointed to his faded bruise.

"What you want me to do?" His father asked stressed.

"Arrest him."

"Jaesun? I can't he has no record."

"Just as I thought." He started to walk away.

"Hanbin, come with me."

"No, just stay away from me, you'll be gone soon anyway." He walked off again.

His father watched in disappointment seeing his sons life falling apart. He got back into his car and picked up the phone dialing his ex wife. "Did you find him?"

"No I didn't."

You grew worried once again. It was already 9 and you heard nothing from Hanbin yet. You were terrified for him, especially after hearing that asshole threaten him. Its obvious he was searching for him precisely and you were putting yourself in danger for letting him hide in your room, but you didn't care.

"Are you okay?" Your mother asked opening your door to you pacing back and fourth.

"Yeah. I'm just stressed about my test tomorrow and I can't memorize the information." Your lying paid off.

"Just get some sleep. If you over study it will have worse results." She smiled.

"Buts it only 9 o'clock."

"So.....brilliant people go to bed early." She was about to shut the door.

"You made that up." You laughed.

"So what. Get some sleep." She finally closed the door.

You did feel tired but you were too anxious. You locked the door and turned out your light getting to bed like your mom said. Maybe you were worried for nothing. Maybe he was just sleeping over Bobby's. His phone was off, so you couldn't call him.

Once you started falling into a deep sleep. You felt the bed sunk next to you. You opened your eyes and turned your bedside lamp on.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you." He looked down at you sadly.

"You didn't. I was waiting for you."

"I think I should probably stay away from you for-"

"No."

"It's too dangerous." He grabbed your hand sweetly.

"I don't care. No one would expect me."

He looked down for a second. "What if something happens to you?"

"Hanbin, my dad is a retired military sergeant. I'm 100% safe."

"You're dad was in the military?" He looked at you timidly causing you to giggle.

"He was injured pretty badly, so he was forced to retire." You said.

"Maybe you're dad is the one I should be scared of." He let out a chuckle but things turned serious quickly once again.

"Hanbin, I think I.......love you and I don't want anything to happen to you." You confessed.

You continued again from seeing his face go pale. "I know it's so soon but I never stop thinking about you and it tears me apart when I don't hear from you or see you. I never stop worrying. And the thought of someone hurting you makes my heart-" You felt your eyes water and he grabbed your face to bring you in closer.

"Everything will be okay. Stop worrying." He looked at you stern but you still saw fear in his eyes.

"If you're ever in trouble, my dad....he can help."

"I don't want you involved. And me being here is already pulling you in."

"Please, you're safe here." You tried to persuade him. "I don't want you to leave."

He looked at sweetly and he stood up. He kicked off his shoes and pulled off his sweater. "Listen Hanbin. My mom and dad are gone during the day. If you need to eat, shower, rest. Please let yourself okay?"

"I don't need you-"

"Promise me." Your voice was stern.

"Okay." He gave in and smiled.

He took off his jeans and crawled into bed with you with a nice warm t-shirt and boxers. He cuddled up next to you from behind giving you butterflies. "By the way (Y/N)." He started causing you to turn around facing him. "I love you to."

You couldn't stop smiling and he pulled you into a sweet gentle kiss. It was crazy that his boy made you feel every emotion possible from the moment you met him. You caressed your hands gently along his jaw line to pull him in more, deepening the kiss.

He moved his hand down towards your hip lifting your left leg to wrap around his waist as he towered over you. You felt his hand rubbing your thigh back and fourth sending chills throughout your body. You decided to let your hands wander down his well toned abs until they reached the hem of his shirt. He stopped kissing you for a second as your hands snaked up his shirt.

Once you felt like you were running out a breath, he quickly transitioned to your neck, leaving wet kisses all along your exposed skin. "No ill wait for the bus." You said as you waited on the side walk watching your parents drive away. Once the coast was clear you went back inside and called the school saying you were sick in your best impression of your mother.

You went back up to your room seeing Hanbin still asleep. You crawled back into bed with him and fell back asleep feeling his warm embrace.

You woke up again natural as you caught him stretching cutely. "Hey." He yawned. "Why aren't you in school?"

"I called in sick."

"Why would you do that?" His voice was still tired.

"Because I want to spend the day with you." You said nuzzling closer.

He smiled as he continued to hold you. You never felt happier and you could tell he felt the same way. "I've only missed like 2 days anyway. I'll be okay."

"Breakfast?" You smirked and got up. He followed and put his pants back on as you grabbed your sheets.

You threw them in the washing machine and quickly began making pancakes. Hanbin watched you in satisfaction.

"Did you want chocolate chips or blueberry's?" You asked turning around to a sweet smile.

"Chocolate chips will be great."

You turned back around mixing the batter when you felt arms wrapped around you from behind. He nuzzled into your neck causing you to laugh.

You both decide to walk around town and once you reach the park you laid down on the grass watching the different shapes of the clouds go by. It was relaxing and all the harsh obstacles of each one of your lives slowed down.

"It's too cold out here." He complained.

You giggled. "I meant just spending all day with you."

He leaned up towering over you. He didn't look happy and his face washed over with guilt as he was trying to figure out the right words to say.

"(Y/N) I love you and I'm glad you gave me a second chance." You can see the fear in his eyes.

You looked at him hurt. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing. I'm just glad everything worked out." He leaned down kissing you passionately. You felt affected by his words but it scared you. He wasn't telling you something and you felt worried.

"You're parents are home." Hanbin said as you stopped by your house.

"I'll go in and you can sneak in through my window." You said kissing him.

"It is. But I need to talk to him before he leaves. I'll see you later okay?" He pecked your lips before leaving you alone.

You went inside feeling more worried. You knew he would be okay but you couldn't help but feel concerned about him.

"Is that the guy you went out with your first week of school?" Your mother asked obviously looking out the window.

"Why do you keep spying on me?" You asked.

"So how long has he been spending the night with out our permission?" You mother looked at you folding her arms.

"What are you talking about?" You said trying not to panic.

"I'm not dumb sweetie." She held up his wallet. "How long?"

"Just a few nights here and there." You said taking the wallet.

"Is that it? I know you skipped school today and I know he hasn't been to school in a few weeks now."

"Mom it's not how it seems." You said.

"Then explain." She was angry.

"He has nowhere else to go. His mothers boyfriend hits him, so I let him stay here." You said with confidence.

"That's nice of you dear, but this is my roof and you need to ask us first." Her tone was settling.

"You would of said no." You whined.

"You're right. Because if he is getting assaulted then he needs to take that up with the police. You're lucky I haven't told your father."

"No buts. You are grounded for 2 weeks and you have to leave your door open at all times."

You both alerted to the front door opening. "Shh. I'm letting you off the hook this one time." Your mother whispered.

"I bought home dinner." He said with a smile. "What?"

Once dinner was over you wanted to run upstairs as fast as you could but your mother stopped you. You were forced to watch a movie with your parents like the old days and you never been more bored in your life.

You felt your pocket vibrate in your pocket and you picked it up seeing it was a missed call from Bobby. Your heart began to race since he never called you. It rang again and your mother looked at you. "Put it away."

"I have to take this mom." You picked it up anyway.

"Hello? (Y/N)?" His voice sounded petrified.

"What's wrong?" Your parents stopped the movie annoyed.

"Hanbins in the hospital."

Your lips began to tremble and your face flushed as the tears began to fall. Your parents go up immediately going to your side seeing the light drain from your face.

"What happen?"

"He went home." Was all the words he said causing your stomach to drop. Jaesun did something to him and you feared the worse. "I'm waiting outside, until the doctors tell me if he's okay."

"Okay. I'll be right there." You hung up. You quickly grabbed your jacket and put your shoes on.

"Wait a minute (Y/N) what's wrong?" Your mother stopped you.

"Hanbins in the hospital." Your mother looked at you sadly as your father looked confused.

"Whose Hanbin?"

"Her boyfriend." Your mother answered.

"You have a boyfriend?" He asked.

"Nows not the time dad." You rushed.

"Come on." Your mother grabbed her things as well as well as your father.

They drove you to the hospital and you basically sprinted inside. You saw Bobby in the waiting room tapping his feet impatiently. "Bobby?" You ran to him and your parents were out of breath trying to keep up. "Anything yet?"

"No. There's his dad talking to Hanbins mom." You glanced over and saw a police officer talking to the lady you remember seeing at school that day.

"How can this happen?" His father said. "I'm taking him with me."

"What?" His mother said. She had a bruised eye.

"He needs to live with me for a little while." He said brushing his fingers through his hair.

"You can't do that." She whined.

"He hasn't been living with you anyway. His behavior is out of line and all he does is get into trouble." He said. "I'm not letting him throw his senior year down the drain. He needs to go to college."

"He will, here." She cried.

"End of discussion."

"What do you think they are arguing about?" You asked.

"Not sure, but can't be good." Bobby answered.

"Do you know what happened to Jaesun?" You asked.

"They took him to the station, but I don't know much." He shrugged.

"I need to talk to his dad." You got up and walked over interrupting their conversation. "Hello? Sir."

He looked at you. "I'm Hanbin's girlfriend." His mother looked at you as well. Her shoulders relaxed and she grabbed your hand sweetly. "Is he okay?" You asked softly.

"He will be." His father answered.

"Is he happy? When he's with you?" She asked.

"I hope so." You smiled gently.

"Mr and Mrs. Kim. You can see him now." The doctor spoke.

"Come on dear. I'm sure he'll want to see you." His mother never let go of your hand.

You walked with them and Bobby as well. Your parents waited outside respectfully. Once you entered more tears began to fall. He looked broken. His face was all cut up and bruised. He was hooked up to some machine to give him more air as he slept.

"My poor baby." His mother sat at the bed.

"Once he's awake Sunhee, we need to discuss about his living situation." His father said.

You looked at Bobby confused and concerned wanting to know what he means.

"Why don't you kids come back tomorrow when he's awake. It's late and you both have school tomorrow." The cop said.

You nodded and Bobby laid his hand comfortably on your back as you both left. As soon as you went back to the waiting room, you saw the rest of Hanbins friends looking distraught.

"Bobby." Yunhyeong sat up first and the rest followed. "How is he?"

"He's okay. He's sleeping though."

"I hope that asshole rots in jail." Yunhyeong showed his frustration as everyone else.

"I was with him only a few hours ago and I knew something was wrong. I just wish I could of been there with him." You said.

One of the most important witnesses wasn’t interrogated because investigating officers couldn’t get through him.

Despite multiple requests from Denis’ mother the judge didn’t call Saduov who is one of the most important witnesses in a case and who know Kudaibergenov. Kudaibergenov demanded from him 5,000 U.S. dollars right after what happened. Why did he demand money? He couldn’t answer the question. The court explained why they didn’t call Saduov because they couldn’t get through him.

Nuraly Kiyasov’s brother was convicted of group violence. He was sentenced to 2 years conditionally.

July 18-19 in 2018 perpetrators were driving a car of Kiyasov’s brother, that Kiyasov allegedly stole from his own brother. The judge refused to call for interrogation his brother because he can’t give evidence against his sibling by the law. But Kudaibergenov and Tolybaeva aren’t his relatives. But they found the answer within the law and Kiyasov’s brother wasn’t interrogated.

Kiyasov and Kudaibergenov have already been prosecuted three times! And every time they were released because of reconciling the parties. Kiyasov’s brother was a suspended sentence. Kiyasov himself and Kudaibergenov still haven’t been convicted.

About policemen. Denis’ family asks to prosecute policemen Nurpeisov and Musaev, who saw the fight between Denis and perpetrators and didn’t react.

January 11th they were interrogated at the hearing.

Policemen were going to Central stadium, but somehow they were on Kurmangazy-Baiseitova street. They were there before the fight. According to Nurpeisov, they wanted to buy a hot dog on Nazarbayev-Kurmangazy street. But according to Musaev, they wanted to buy a burger on Nazarbayev-Bogenbay Batyr street. Policemen ran and help when perpetrators had been already running away. Meanwhile, one of the policemen go after them without staying with Denis and calling an ambulance. Running out on the road he found out what direction perpetrators went. He sent another police car in a different way (instead of Nazarbayev avenue to Ablai Khan). Later this car will come back to the place of the incident and namely these patrolmen will call the ambulance, tourniquet the leg and help doctors. Time was lost.

Second policemen went to “catch” perpetrators by car along Panfilov street and magically didn’t notice them when they were moving in the same direction as his car.

Nurpeisov and Musaev’s evidences aren’t the same as patrolmen’s, who was providing real help.

During interrogation, judge withdrew all media to another room and asked them to take out all cameras and microphones from the courtroom, despite the fact that aggrieved party wasn’t against it. He didn’t allow the lawyer to ask policemen questions. He also didn’t respond to almost every Denis’ mom question.

Why do they need to interrogate Kiyasov’s brother who invited everybody, fed them and give them his own car?

Why do they need to interrogate the third founder of restaurant “Hedonist” Dimash Izbasar who didn’t show up in court because he dislocated his shoulder? (Hedonist is a place where Denis was before he was killed).

Why do they need to interrogate Saduov, from whom Kudaibergenov was demanding $5000 right after what happened?

Why do they need to make a fuss because of rogue policemen, who sent patrolmen to a different direction so they couldn’t catch the perpetrators?

After all, why does the judge need all these problems?

Hushed up, he thinks that everything’s going to die down and aggrieved party is going to let it go.

January 16th in the court Tolybaeva said that in December some people had come to her to remand centre. She told that they had threatened her. Again, someone familiar usually threatens and only those who know too much or who can compromise those people about whom person just mustn't tell about.

During her first interrogation, she pointed out that she met with Kudaibergenov a few days before the incident but in court, Zhanar was trying to deny all charges and articles saying she saw or know nothing.

Aggrieved party answered that even if she didn’t know, there’s an article 434 Criminal Code of Republic of Kazakhstan, which punished the misprision about well-known preparing or committed crime. Moreover, criminal responsibility for the above-mentioned crime was expanded by the new Criminal Code of Republic of Kazakhstan. Whereas previously the maximum punishment for misprision about the crime was 1 year restriction of freedom. It’s now a maximum punishment is 6 years restriction of freedom and it includes serious crimes accordingly.

During the investigation in the court for which her lawyer asked one more day (despite they had 5,5 months for preparing!!), she suddenly said that she knew Kudaibergenov for a long time and they’re going to get married. According to the Constitution of Republic of Kazakhstan and criminal law people who hide their husband or wife or close relative that committed a crime are not subjects to criminal responsibility.

January 16th 2019 prosecutor asked for Tolybaeva 4 years restriction of freedom according to the article about misprision. 4 years instead of 6 years because of mitigating factors such as pregnancy and existence of a minor child.

In accordance with the cell phone records accused called each other since July 16th. Denis’ mother said, “everything points to the fact that this trinity like the army has met July 16th and before that they didn’t know each other. Cell phone records prove that acquaintance Tolybaeva with Kudaibergenov happened on the eve. They started to communicate more often a day before the tragedy of July 18th. Maybe they had another phone numbers and it’s possible that they were communicating using them. But those phone numbers which they showed to interrogators officers did not have their common calls.”

Zhanar Tolybaeva is a teacher from Korday village. She has a car and expensive phones such as iPhone and Samsung. She can speak Russian, Kazakh and English. According to cell phone records that were closely reviewed by Denis’ family she has communication with foreigners structures which also had a connection with Denis’ circle. In the court, Tolybaeva said that she called only to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. Such calls weren’t found at any of the two her phone numbers.

Denis’ family asked to punish her accordingly to article 188, part 2, paragraph 1 for group stealing by preliminary conspiracy. Since there's new information probably she was head of the gang they also asked to add charge under article 99, part 2, paragraph 8 that is the murder from mercenary motivations involving robbery.

I was so disappointed by the court’s verdict because I thought results will be worse for them cos they killed Denis Ten who was a real hero of his motherland. They grab his life and got this. Would you mind talking about the fact that you are currently living here in this home that you rent with your husband and your metamour? And you are about to purchase a home together? Would you mind talking a little bit about that and maybe some of the challenges that it's bringing up, or some of the things that are great, or things that you have to consider as factors of living together as a ‘V’?

Keira:

So, one of the best parts about living with this particular metaphor is that the chores that I hate, she loves, and the chores that she hates, I love! So separating the day-to-day house cleaning chores is super easy because I don't have to do the stuff that I don't like, and she doesn’t have to do the stuff she doesn't like, it’s perfect! Obviously that’s not how everyone’s going to work.  But like it's interesting because what it ends up doing when you're living with someone that your partner is dating but not someone that you are dating, it adds a layer of relationship that you maybe don't expect with a metamor. Because if I have a metamour that I’m seeing once a year I don't need to care...I mean, I care, but I don't need to be worried about what's going on in their lives. Where as someone that I live with... She goes to school. So if she needs to get out of the driveway for class and I'm behind her, I have to take into consideration that, “Oh, I need to move my car.” It's little added everyday things that you don't necessarily think about because you're… Essentially, social media and pop culture shows you either of the really really silly problems that happen with monogamy, or, “These two people live together they do everything together it looks exactly perfect and it's easy.” But that's not the case. It's hard enough to live with two people. It's even harder when it's a third person that's not your child. Three adults can add to difficulties because everybody has different needs: time management needs household management needs, and so negotiating boundaries and making everything work smoothly, It takes a lot of conversation, it takes a lot of leeway, and being flexible with other people. For the most part it works really well. I mean, we have issues, but everybody has issues.

Interviewer:

Yeah.  I’ve had issues with roommates.  It’s not only the emotional component at all.

Keira:  

Yeah.  It’s just Is it is a fact of life that people have difficulty living with each other. This house is a really interesting scenario because each of us has different requirements for it.  I have two big dogs. They sleep in their very giant kennels, so I need a room that has space for my dog kennels! My husband he needs room in his room for his giant L shaped desk.  He needs a workshop because one of his hobbies is carpentry. My metamour needs a giant hutch in her room because she plays a lot of video games and she has four different consoles. She also needs a to desk because she's going to school. And so, the majority homes, like pre-built homes, 90% of time assume that you are a two adult family with 2.5 kids and a dog.

Interviewer:

So the bedroom sizes are not even?

Keira:

So the bedroom sizes are not even a little bit even. There are some homes that have the master bedroom that's like the size of an entire wing, and it's like 15 x 25 ft with a bathroom that's the size of a small bedroom and a closet that's bigger than some of the bedrooms. And then the other rooms are 10 x 10. And three adults, that's just not feasible for any of us. And then, I'm really loud when I have sex. My metamour doesn't really want to hear my sex noises, so having rooms that are far away from each other. In most houses, all of the rooms are on one floor or they're all stacked on top of each other and that creates more of an issue. And then you factor in the needing to have some sort of like vaguely roommate floor plan with the desire to have good sharedspace. My metamour and I both crochet and I sew so we need a craft room.  We all do puzzle together so we need a room that's got really good natural light and also fits the table that fits 5000 piece puzzles on it.

Interviewer:

Your metamour also does the puzzles? I know that you and Mike do that.

Keira:

Yeah. It’s an every body thing that we do. Yeah, it’s super fun.  And then, my metamour and my husband both cook lot and I really like to bake, and we love having company over. So we want a kitchen where three people can move around without having to bump into each other. When you add these things together, that means the number of houses that are even remotely available for us are slimmer and usually more expensive because when you need more space, you tend to get into the higher price range.

Interviewer:

So finding all those things is difficult enough in a home.  And then finding them in the area you want to live and the price range that works for you…

Keira:

And also a yard because we have two big dogs.

Interviewer:

Yeah. You have a lot of things to consider.

Keira:

It's entirely possible that some polycule finds a house where there's a master and a bunch of small bedrooms and it's not a big deal. It's just a matter of realizing that there are extra needs. It's like doing it's like doing the New York Times crossword. Doing a Monday crossword is really easy but the farther down you go, by Sunday it's a possible. So like, we are three people, I'm sure there are polycules of five people that would love to live together. I cannot even imagine what that looks like! It’s already hard enough with three.  Thinking about that just sounds horrendous. Part of that too is, we're looking for houses that are good for the three of us. But if  down the line one of us gets another partner that wants to live with us, that's going to either mean we have to move, or it's going to mean we have to build on, or it's going to mean that we have to at least adjust how we're living.

Interviewer:

Yeah.  All of that makes so much sense and I guess everybody has their own different needs of course right? Like some polycules who want to live together, maybe one of the people travels a lot so they don't need as big of a room. Or maybe they don't care about sex noises or are super quiet so it's okay if the rooms are on one floor. But they would probably have then different requirements. Maybe they need a garage or whatever. It’s like the whole equity thing. It doesn’t have to be the same house for everyone, but you gotta find what works for everyone in your community I guess.

Interviewer:

Well it’s interesting to hear and or course being from New York, I always filtered it through the New York living sort of experience with roomates. But  purchasing is really different and sharing with roommates is really different than sharing with partners and metamours.

Keira:

And then the legal aspect you can think about too, because a lot of places have cohabitation laws. And particularly if there are children involved. In my household there are no children but I do know polycules that live together that do have kids and this is a concern because if you have nosey neighbors that notice there are a bunch of adults coming in and out and there are also kids...  If you get Child Protective Services called on you, and then there's also cohabitation laws in your county, that can really screw with you. You can you could go to court for it.  You could get your kid taken away for it. It's a big deal.

Interviewer:

Or loose your home. Or lose your ability to have adults who aren’t in the same legal family[living there].

Keira:

And then there are the legal aspects of who pays the mortgage, whose name is on the lease , whose name is on the mortgage? Because a lot of places, if you have people who are not married, like legally married, all on the lease, they are concerned by that. They don't want that. And there are ways to get around it but it’s still a legal risk at a certain point.

Almost Too Good (A Chris Evans Story): Part 21 - 2/3

A/N: I’m not even going to attempt to explain myself for the absence in posting. I can only apologize because I HATE it when others do this... so I know the frustration and can’t excuse myself for it. 

I’ll be honest, these next couple of parts/chapters are a little different and they have me worried but I hope you enjoy anyways! Be sure to check out part 1/3 of this now three-part (instead of two) chapter :)

The car ride was nice, but mostly quiet...

Despite my inner conclusion to just let it go, an air of awkwardness still hung around Chris and I; like some kind of a bad smell. On any other day we might have talked it out there and then, but the presence of the stranger driving us to the venue intensified our silence to the point where I was acutely aware of the sound of my own breathing.

Occasionally in my peripheral, I could see Chris’ fingers tapping his knee to drum up something to say but, ultimately, he kept quiet for the most part. It was very clear that neither of us felt comfortable bringing up earlier whilst in the company of someone else, so small talk remained small.

With that in mind, I decided to occupy my time with some “mental preparation”. I might’ve looked all lovely and glamorous on the outside, but my insides were a lethal cocktail of self-doubt, worry and pressure. I was keenly aware of the fact that I was going to meet a lot of people that were important to Chris tonight and if they didn’t warm to me, well, then, I was truly fucked.

The car pulled up behind the long queue of other cars and the driver kindly got out and opened the door on my side for me. I smiled gratefully at him, carefully stepping out onto the concrete and out onto whatever tonight had in store for me.

I waited patiently off to the side for a minute or so, looking around at all the tall lit up palm trees that lined the path upwards as Chris corresponded with the driver about how he’d contact him later. The night was a little chilly, so I made sure to pull the shawl that I had draped around my elbows up onto my shoulders until we got inside. With a little nod and wink in confirmation, Chris finally turned back around and acknowledged me. 

Comically, my face must’ve screamed I’M IN OVER MY HEAD because he met me with a sweet look of encouragement before a lopsided grin emerged. 

He eyed our surroundings fleetingly before his fingers came down and casually entwined themselves around my own. As he led the way up the steep concrete staircase, my eyes trained in on the foreign feeling.

Chris was holding my hand... We’d never held hands before!?

It was such a menial and fleeting action for most couples yet it ignited something inside of me. A surge of butterflies, a stupidly goofy smile, a feeling of utter satisfaction. I liked it. A lot.

Any animosity I had about earlier started to melt away with each step we took as a unit.

Chris had explained to me before that there was no compulsory red carpet or anything. The event was a private get together that allowed those more fortunate than others to let loose and do some good for charity without it turning into a media circus. Of course, unsurprisingly, there were those whose job it was to hide in the bushes out front and capture any little mundane detail, like someone getting their car valeted or someone sneaking a crafty cigarette. So, the “back door” was deemed the “entrance” for anyone not looking to get papped.

‘Is it always held here?’ I leaned over and whispered to Chris, gazing around at the crowded foyer in awe. The gold filigree and mirror decked walls, accentuated by the antiques that adorned the place, were simply stunning, and the marble floors were so pristine, it was easy to see one’s reflection. Now this is what you call, top dollar.

‘Nah, they tend to switch up the venues every year. Last year it was at the Griffith Observatory, which was kinda cool.’ He replied, guiding us towards the small queue of people that waited outside the curtain covered entrance where, presumably, the event was being hosted.

After a moment or two of peacefully taking in our surroundings, it was obvious that we were still feeling a little of that awkwardness lingering; so I was grateful to hear Chris try and strike up conversation again. 

‘I know I’ve said it already, but you really do look a million dollars tonight Adrian.’ 

Stepping forward in time with the quickly narrowing queue, I smiled appreciatively at him before biting my lip and running my eyes over his attire. ‘Thank you, as do you. I like this suit, Evans!’

Chris wriggled his eyebrows and smirked. ‘Why thank you, it’s Gucci.’

‘How appropriate.’ I simpered, lightly trailing my hand down the sleeve of our joint venture’s latest creation.

Truthfully, I took the chance as an excuse to just touch him. I hadn’t wanted to make a fuss earlier, finding myself all but lost in the reunion aspect of our togetherness more than anything, but he really had bulked up lately...

Since I’d known him, Chris had always been in undeniably great shape; but he was almost intimidatingly so now. The navy suit did well to accentuate the broadness of his shoulders and the slimness of his waist. 

I was constantly in awe of the fact that Chris wore any type of clothing just so well. It didn’t matter if it were $100 sweats, or $5000 suits; the man looked good.

After finally passing through the curtain as ‘Chris Evans and guest’, I felt my jaw physically drop almost immediately.

Admittedly yes, I had been in the game long enough to not get star struck easily, it’s like I’ve always said, they’re just people… but never in my life had I been at something that was on this big of a scale. I had been going to the MET Gala for the last seven years, but even that didn’t seem to compare!

I’d never been to The Oscars... but it seemed like my perception of that; on crack.

Firstly, the venue itself was architecturally stunning. The ceilings were ornate, with paintings of clouds and angels (that clearly took inspiration from the Italian Renaissance) and the chandeliers were so grand, that one of them probably cost more than my entire paycheck for my last movie.

On the opposite side of the function “room”, if it could even be narrowed down to a term so loose, was a stage currently being occupied by a podium, extravagant flowers and a backdrop consisting of a painted skyline that was accentuated by tiny lights customized to look like hundreds and hundreds of twinkling “stars”.

Circular tables, dressed decadently for the dinner portion, graced the immediate spaces in front of the stage and nearest to us, stood a large bar area that all the guests seemed to be mingling in; chatting away and having a sneaky drink or two before the proceedings began.

A quick gloss over the room could tell you that this was no regular “gala”. I couldn’t see one person that I didn’t recognize from the entertainment industry; from Colbert to Kimmel, Cruise to Stiller, Aniston to Lawrence; the list could go on…. and on. It practically blew my mind how this “charity event” had somehow slipped under the radar as the best kept secret in Hollywood.

‘Let’s break ourselves in gently, huh?’ Chris decreed, untangling our fingers so he could take my hand and hook it around his forearm - calmly guiding us down the small set of marble stairs towards the bar. I caught myself smiling in appreciation at him, the nerves now truly beginning to kick in at the intense nature of such an occasion.

Looking around, I noticed how strange it felt to feel like you really know someone when, (in reality), you don’t. Unfortunately, I kept having to relay this mantra to myself as I eyed Bryan Cranston, who was stood talking to Gwyneth Paltrow… God I loved that man.

After a minute or so, the search for an actual familiar face was becoming fruitless and I was just about to resign myself to being glued to Chris’ arm all night when some dark locks came into view behind passing strangers. My eyes widened, and a grin formed; like I somehow knew everything was going to be alright now that I had this person in my sights.

In fact, I was so consumed by my discovery that I barely noticed Chris pat my hand and inform me he was off to get us a drink before departing in the opposite direction.

So naturally, I just couldn’t help myself. Weaving myself in and out of Hollywood royalty, I eventually laid my hand on the familiar shoulder and with my best She’s The Man impression, out flew the screechy ‘Sebastian!’ nickname I’d stupidly come up with all those years ago.

Jumping a little in surprise, my victim quickly turned around and his face melted in an immediate gleeful grin. ‘Adrian Warner? Whaaat!?’

Sebastian Stan wasted no time in leaning forward and gifting me a kiss on both cheeks. 

‘What is this? Twice, in one year? You’re spoiling me over here, missy!’ He joked, completely leaving behind whoever it was he was conversing with to give me his full attention. I was so happy to see him. To feel like I had an actual ally amidst this celeb-fest was beyond comforting. New York was a whole different scene and I never felt like a “celebrity” there for the most part, so God knows I especially didn’t feel like one here.

‘Right? This feels like Déjà vu from the last time. You’re like my only life line here!’ I admitted with a nervous little laugh.

‘Why’s that? You here by yourself?’

‘No, I’m here with-‘ I paused for a second, searching for the right words, ‘- as someone’s… date.’

He nodded and looked as though he was about to inquire some more before stopping short, his eyes now shooting behind me; just in time to see Chris returning with two stiff drinks in hand.

‘Wait...’ Sebastian’s smirk intensified before his mouth opened fully in complete shock, eyes darting back and forth between Chris and I; the cogs in his brain turning until the click finally materialized. ‘No. Fuckin’. Way.’

‘Dude…’ Chris warned lowly, an almost embarrassed guise on his face as he handed me one of the glasses containing some kind of dark brown consistency.

‘Oh-ho-oh, outstanding!’ Sebastian began cracking up, like he’d just seen a tortoise and a hyena make love and was kinda into it. ‘Noooww I see why you were keeping namey-names a secret, Evans!’

I looked at them both strangely before laughing lightly at Sebastian’s childish use of ‘namey-names’. Chris seemed to return his sentiment with a deliberate silence.

‘What!?’ Sebastian laughed defensively, ‘I approve! I think this is great; two of my favorite people!’

I was delighted with the easy start, but I knew that would all quickly change.

Within twenty minutes, I had gone from the comfort of only Sebastian to the overwhelming depths of reality as Chris Hemsworth, his stunning wife Elsa and the ethereal Elizabeth Olsen introduced themselves and joined the “group” conversation; all three, at least what they thought to be, subtly side eyeing me at any given second.

What discomforted me most (but deep down delighted me), was the fact that it was easy to see the amount of respect everyone had for Chris; to the point where I felt almost unworthy to be by his side. So, I was truly grateful for Sebastian and the history we had in that moment, much like I had been at Chris’ housewarming party. He’d chosen to disclose to the group the time we pulled a prank on our elderly co-star from Tall Bill with a stripper-gram on his 75th Birthday; setting me up to look like a true comedy genius when, truthfully, it’d been a joint effort…

‘No, don’t sell yourself short! You called the company!’ I argued, playfully pointing at Sebastian.

‘Yeah, but then “Misty” turns up in a trench coat… and nothing else! So I straight up bail and as I was peacing out, all I can hear in the distance is “… Is that coat vintage???”

His high-pitched impression of me sent the group off into a chorus of laughter. To see the creases in everyone’s eyes, including Chris’, as they all cracked up at my undeniable obsession with fashion, (to the point where I’d asked a stripper where her coat was from…), was rewarding but mostly relieving.

So far, so good.

I took another tiny sip from the drink in my hand and reluctantly swallowed the strong liquid inside, squinting slightly as I did so. I let my eyes flicker over to Chris, silently questioning his choice of alcohol.

Catching my eye, he bent over and quietly spoke out of the side of his mouth. ‘I thought it might take the edge off a little?’

I wanted to playfully banter with him about why he had one, but I didn’t get the chance.

‘Do you guys know what table you’re on?’ Elizabeth interrupted, her voice so dainty and light as she took a small sip from her champagne flute.

Chris and I looked at one another before shaking our heads in sync, ‘Should we?’ ‘Was there a list?’

‘There’s place cards on all of the tables. We got here early and were bored, so we already had a little snoop around.’ Elsa chuckled, her striking Spanish accent coming through along with her friendly nature. I had quickly warmed to all three of them, finding them to be completely personable despite their immense fame.

Yet it seemed almost cruel that every time I started to settle into my surroundings, another spanner was thrown at me.

‘Well heeey, fancy running into all of you here…’ A deeper voice joked, causing us all to turn around; just in time for Chris to receive a kiss on the cheek in greeting. His deep-rooted smile at her presence confirmed my suspicion as to who this mystery person could be.

I hesitantly took a slightly larger sip of my drink, acutely aware that the pressure was really on now that she was here.

I had always admired Scarlett Johansson for the part she had played in showing that young actresses had the ability to not only be pretty but that they were also very capable of starring in damn good movies. Lost in Translation was still, to this day, a movie I couldn’t skip over if it was showing on TV. Chris had known her for years, since the very beginning of their careers, and had always spoken so fondly of her.

Once Scarlett and her husband had finished greeting the familiar faces in the group, the arresting set of emerald greens finally fixated on me; the only stranger in the circle. I smiled immediately, truly thrilled to meet her before cautiously looking to my left at our common ground.

Eyes popping in realization, Chris rested his hand on the small of my back in assurance and introduced us. ‘And this, is Adrian. Adrian, this is Scarlett.’

‘Hi, it’s a pleasure to meet you!’ I stepped forward and held my hand out in greeting.

With the added “emphasis” on my name, Scarlett’s own eyes widened at the “hint-hint” tone that Chris was emitting before she grinned in my direction. Her eyes turned kindly, and she accepted my handshake with what appeared to be true enthusiasm.  

Funny, Chris knew that Sebastian was a long-time acquaintance of mine and yet the only person who seemed to know that I even existed in the “romantic sense” towards him was Scarlett. A truly interesting choice. Maybe one day I’d feel comfortable to ask him about it.

Gleefully our introduction seemed to go well, however the “hi, nice to meet you’s” didn’t stop there…

Like a hurricane, I was quickly introduced to production, crew and more cast members alike. Clearly a tightknit “family”, I was blown away by just how many people were interested in meeting Chris’s “date” for the evening.

In an unusual turn of events, unlike how his mother met most of the girls he dated, it felt like his colleagues just weren’t used to meeting the women in his life; which was oddly comforting.

Some people recognized me but for those who didn’t, I stood there and received rounds and rounds of ‘So you’re an actress?’ ‘Are you in anything coming up?’ ‘What’s next for you?’ questions. I knew they were only trying to see if I was just using Chris to further myself, which saddened me a little to think that might have been the case in the past for him.

It warmed my heart to its core when Chris would jump in for me at times. ‘She just wrapped a movie with Ben Affleck, which he directed, right?’ Like he didn’t already know…

‘Yeah, it was a really great project to have been a part of.’ I’d continue, flashing Chris a grateful “smile” with my eyes all the while.

After what felt like forever, the pianist, who had been lowly playing in the background, announced into his microphone that the evening’s festivities would begin in twenty minutes and began asking everyone to take their seats.

Capitalizing on this brief interlude, I handed Chris the dregs of my drink and informed him that I was going to the bathroom.

‘Alright, I’ll find our seats…’ He smiled before pressing an affectionate kiss to my cheek; pride radiating on his face at how everything was turning out.

As I quickly peed, I silently praised Chris’ assistant Jake for the Olive Garden takeout he had brought over earlier; otherwise that hard liquor would’ve gone straight to my head.

Pulling some tissue paper from the holder, I also took the time to reminisce on how well the night had gone so far. Sure it had been a little intense but for the most part everyone had been nice, and to see Chris so overjoyed at the ease of his rapidly unifying worlds was extremely heart-warming. He was so exhausted and stressed, it felt good to be contributing to the lighter aspects in his life.

I eventually stepped out of the stall and didn’t even bother to hide my amazement at the printed cream wallpaper and golden sconces. Each vanity mirror was splattered with age; which only added to its decadence.

I bent down and washed my hands in the mother of pearl sinks, blissfully unaware of the arrival of the girl who had been in the stall next to me.

I grabbed my clutch with my still damp hands and rummaged around for my lipstick, eventually picking it out and pulling the lid off for a top up.

‘Excuse me, could I borrow some soap?’

‘Yeah of course, go ahead.’ I smiled before raising my head to the mirror to apply the lipstick. In doing so, I made direct eye contact with the girl;

…and in that moment, it was like the very depths of hell was laughing at me.

Dressed in crimson red, a set of hazel eyes widened at me in complete horror; wholly surrendered into a state of shock as her expression was reflected into the mirror for us both to see.

‘Oh… my… God…’ The voice squeaked; neither of us removing our vision from the mirror for fear of confirming the horrors of reality on the other side of it.

You know, in a fucked up “funny” kind of way, the last time I had seen Chelsea Hewitt-Lewis, her expression had been much of the same…

I could hear my heartbeat in my ears; easily drowning out all other sounds. In some alternate reality, I knew my initial reaction would’ve been one of watery eyed sobs brought on by a suppressed case of PTSD.

But there was none of that here.

Throwing my lipstick back into my purse and shutting the flap, I quickly backed away; the room spinning as I did so. My mind was blank, my mouth was parted, and my eyes were void of all moisture.

It almost irked me that her own reaction seemed to be a mirror reflection of my inner turmoil. What gave her the right!?

I felt like I would have rather she punched me in the face... because then at least I’d know where we stood.

But I suppose she’d already done that to me two years ago; except her “punch” wasn’t physical.

I fled the bathroom, despite my deep desire to return and just projectile vomit into a stall. My resolute stare was fixated to the ground, but I managed to register the fact that my feet were still carrying me somewhere.

Step by step by step by step. It was inevitable that I was eventually going to crash into something; or someone.

‘Woah, hey, there you are!’ Chris smiled, doing his best to restore our balance as he gently gripped my elbows. ‘I was just coming to find you; I found our table.’

Call it shock, but I found myself nodding like some sort of zombie. Really gripping his arms back, I caught myself tugging at him as a means of leaving the area as soon as possible.

And I almost got away with it, too…

Looking just as shaken as I did, Chelsea exited the bathroom and walked along my already beaten path before eventually recognizing Chris. Raising a brief smile at her new co-star, she sought comfort in the familiarity of it all before noticing who was attached to him.

And that pretty smile fell immediately.

‘Oh, hey! Chelsea, right? I’m Chris.’ He smiled warmly, reaching his hand out upon noticing her back.

My eyes BURNED in response. It felt like the world was on fire and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to straight up slap their hands apart, vomit on them, or both. I never thought for one second that I would curse Chris’ kindness until this very moment.

‘Hi, it’s nice to meet you...’ Chelsea responded shakily, slowing accepting Chris’ hand; her nervousness apparent.

My eyes, once again now void of any moisture, twitched before succumbing to rapidly blinking away this unfolding nightmare.

My body language reeked of “fuck off before I make you” and she knew it. It was distressing that I almost didn’t recognize myself. I wasn’t an angry or violent person by any means.

‘I should get going, it really was… nice to m-meet you.’ Chelsea bungled out before quickly shuffling away, my stare tracing her as she did so.

My mind was like the aftermath of a tornado and all I could do was attempt to come to terms with, and somehow salvage myself from, the wreckage that was my self-esteem.

I was oblivious to the thousands of dollars being sold off around me. I was oblivious to the fun and laughter that the host was managing to pull from his vast crowd. I was oblivious to all but my own selfish thoughts.

As if the universe didn’t already hate me, there she sat, four seats away, shoveling her food around her plate and avoiding eye contact with the other eleven people at the table as they conversed amongst themselves; much like myself. 

Every now and then, I would glance up and observe her.

I truly wondered what was going through her mind? I wondered if she ever actually felt guilt or remorse, or anything for that matter? Was she awkward now because she was confronted with her own hurtful actions?

‘Adrian?’

My head snapped to my left and I clapped eyes on Chris’ concerned face.

‘You okay?’ He eyed me, ‘You seem a little spaced out…’

Spaced out? Oh!

Nodding frantically and rousing a smile, I attempted to bring myself back into the moment. ‘No, no, I’m great.’

‘You sure?’ He eyed me skeptically, ‘You haven’t touched your food… You don’t like it?’

‘No, n-no, no! The food’s amazing!’ I picked up the fork in a feeble attempt at backing up my lies.

‘Then something’s definitely wrong.’ Chris deadpanned, his eyebrows dropping. I managed to let out a genuine little laugh at his concern, touched at the fact he knew me so well.

‘No, I’m okay. Honestly.’ I leaned forward, and we met in the middle for a chaste, but affectionately small peck and I found myself pulling away with a real smile on my face. ‘I think I just need a little air.’

Chris immediately wiped his mouth and dropped his napkin, his hands gripping his seat as he raised himself slightly.

‘Woah, no, no, you stay!’ I quietly commanded, feeling almost overwhelmed at how thoughtful he was being.

Chris eyed me carefully as he slowly lowered himself back down. ‘You sure?’ I rested my hand on his shoulder and kissed the top of his head as I stepped away from the company. ‘Mhmm. I’ll be back in a second.’

Little did I know, I was going to be followed regardless… and not by Chris.

Fair warning: there will be speculation on some spoilers I’ve seen for future episodes, so if you avoid spoilers, turn back now.

I’m going to begin by telling you a story, a story about a guy who was in a fairly new relationship when he decided to run off with his true love for a few days, thereby ending what he had going with the new guy.  He came back after three days and asked his now-ex out, but that guy already had another date lined up and turned him down flat.  Months go by, and the guy keeps after his ex, asking him out time after time and getting shot down, showing up at his work, generally being a stalker, and finally the ex fucks another guy right in front of him to drive home the point that he’s just not interested.  But that doesn’t stop the stalker from trying to get back with his ex.  He keeps asking even more, gets turned down every time.  On the day of the night in question, he even asks the ex if he wants to shower with him, and the ex turns him down, without looking turned on in the least.  He’s not tempted, he’s not interested!  Later they decide to get dinner together, and they get take out, and instead of eating it near or where they got it, the guy seems to bring the ex to a deserted, isolated place where he’s had sex before.  He knows for a fact that no one will be around-even if his ex puts up a fight or starts to yell, no one will be around to break it up.  

The ex finishes his food and tells the guy he’s going to leave.  The guy says nothing.  The ex says he wants to thank the guy for his “help” that day (even tho the guy didn’t do shit).  The guy still says nothing, but walks up to the ex and starts kissing him, which quickly leads to him pushing him up against a fence, sticking his hand down his pants, and fingering/flicking/rubbing him till he orgasms.  

Now, I ask you-does that seem romantic at all?  Or does it sound like an open and shut case of sexual assault?  

WTF was ANYONE thinking in letting that scene make it to air?  The fact that Ian says NOTHING in the entire scene until after Terror comes made it even creepier than the abandoned waterfront and darkness all around atmosphere.  

Ugh, this week’s episode was worse than ever.  And as disconnected from the rest of the season as ever.  Every week, everyone’s got new shit going on, most if not all their old shit forgotten.  The only character the writers are owning it with is Frank-he’s gone thru his phases of flat out saying he’s in his 20s, 30s, and now this week his 40s.  They have his character change a bit (altho ironically, he’s probably been the most consistent, even tho they’re trying to write him outrageously different in each installment), while everyone else is practically brand new every week.

This week Debbie sits in a bar bitching about how her mother was never there for her, and she won’t do that to her daughter, who at that very moment she is neglecting-wtf?  She’s dropping her off with different people every week.  This week they also rip off last week’s Fiona crap by having Franny’s (recast) baby daddy show up unexpectedly.  I really hope he’s there to take custody of Franny and we can have less of Debbie the crappy teen mom, but I’m sure that’s too much to ask.  Debs ends the episode by doing drugs while the baby’s strapped into a car seat and then Debbie waking up next to the long haired dude.  Next week’s preview show her trying to get an older woman to buy her the morning after pill-um, Debbie has to be 18 to be in welding school in Illinois, I can’t imagine you have to be older than that to buy Plan B...

Carl has a junkie tied up in the basement who doesn’t die on him whilst going thru withdrawals-oh, that wacky Shameless!  Carl also needs to make $12,000 because he lost his military school scholarship, and the idiot seems to think he’ll be able to do that working at Patsy’s Pies and using Fiona’s car all night to be a Uber driver...He’s too stupid to be in school, surely.  By the end of the ep, his “cured” junkie shows up with his passed out girlfriend, wanting Carl to do the same for her, and he gives him $5000 for his own cure and says the girl’s parents will pay him $2500.  I really hope someone fucking dies on him.

Lip suddenly and inexplicably has baby fever.  I know there are fans who have always felt Lip wants to be a father, but I’ve never seen it.  He only cared about Karen’s pregnancy because he thought it was a way to tie her to him when she wanted nothing to do with him.  When he wanted to make that video to “his” kid I thought he was just being a shit to Mandy-Lip never once told Karen he’d raise the kid by himself.  Anyway. Lip’s sponsor is having a hard time adjusting to fatherhood, but Lip holds his kid for a few minutes and now that’s what he wants?  When he’s been told he can’t handle a romantic relationship till he’s been sober longer?  He honestly thinks a kid would be easier?  And while he’s working at two low wage jobs?  On the bright side, it’s nice to see Ian’s not the only character they’ve run out of ideas for.  Oh, and who the mother of Lip’s offspring may be they’re not really saying-Snore had one scene in the show with zero lines again.  Why did they even keep her signed on to the show?  Anyway, Lip’s sponsor slips and drives off drunk, and Prof. Youens (remember him?  Neither does Lip, apparently) isn’t mentioned for another week.  And I wish I knew what the show’s point is-you’d THINK seeing all his sponsors losing their sobriety again would be teaching Lip that recovery is a difficult thing you have to keep working at-or that he’d at least ask Carl to lock him in the cellar for a week or two...

Fiona and Nessa continue their contrived “friendship”.  Fiona’s got a bug in her ass about a “junkie” church that’s bringing down her property value.  The woman that owns Patsy’s owns the church, but she’s trying to unload it because it’s a big unmanageable, nonconvertible building.  

Svetlana and Vee have sex a couple of times, I think.  Didn’t pay close enough attention since it seems like that whole storyline is just them spinning their wheel and I never bought into the thrupple thing and is the point that Vee actually loves Svetlana-or that she’s like John Wells and digs woman on woman sex scenes?  Kev’s sitting around talking like a redneck and playing the banjo.  I mean, that could be making the case that Svetlana is the better spouse, but we know Kev and Vee will never split up because the show doesn’t have it in for them.

Meanwhile, Terror and Ian.  Ian tells Carl on their morning run that he’s seeing Terror later to meet with a potential donor for the youth center, and that Terror is bringing Ian along for his “South Side cred”. Why...wouldn’t...Terror...bring...one...of...the..actual...youths?  Later that same morning, Terror once again walks right into the EMT garage where they keep the trucks with tens of thousands of dollars of equipment in them without a problem.  HE tells Ian that they’re meeting with a donor later that day-yeah, we already know this, why does Terror have to show up and tell a sweaty Ian this?  Oh yeah, so Ian can hit on him when Terror tells him to be sure to shower-WHY IS TERROR ALWAYS TELLING IAN WHAT TO DO?  Why does Ian put up with it?  He fucking broke up with Mickey for telling him to take the pills that are saving his life, he bitched at Fiona whenever she told him what to do-why does he put up with it when that sniveling rodent tells him what to do?  We also find out during their painful exchange that the church Ian saw on his run with Carl is already on Terror’s radar-Ian says he saw the church Terror told him about-so this doesn’t even fulfill Terror telling Ian last week that Ian finding a place for the teens would get him out of the doghouse.  Anyway, Carl says something like, “Are you still trying to get in his pants?” and Ian, via Sheila Callaghan’s atrocious writing has Ian say Terror is the best person he knows.

Yes, because the people Ian would be meeting in his line of work-the first responders, the nurses, the doctors-they’re all pricks just working for the paycheck.  But Terror is a goddamn saint, his salvation, his key to a happy, full life.  But maybe I’m being to hard on Sheils, maybe what she meant Ian to say was, “Out of all the people that have just wanted me for sex, he’s the best one I know.”  

Then Ian says Terror is “great in the sack” and that line is so unbelievable it’s a wonder lightning didn’t strike him dead.  Sheila, you’re trying too hard to make it happen-it’s too late, no one’s gonna believe you now.  Ian couldn’t run to Mickey fast enough in Season 7, Terror wasn’t enough to keep him home.

At the tea on the veranda, Ian is distracted trying to figure out why the older guy seems familiar.  Later it hits him, and he tells Terror that guy was a “Friday night regular” who paid him for blowjobs at The Fairy Tail.  So, now it’s canon that Terror DID know all about Ian’s retconned past as a teen prostitute, and what does THAT say about Terror, a person who works with at risk youth, telling Ian to have anonymous sex when he was upset?  Oh, boy, don’t get me started!  All Terror has to say upon hearing Ian used to blow this guy on the regular is that they should’ve asked for more money.  The guy had agreed to give them ten grand-Terror had told him they could get a lease for $5000 down and $5000 for the first month’s rent (where they’d get money to keep paying the lease wasn’t brought up).  

They go by the church and that’s when Terror asks Ian if he wants to get something to eat-Terror says he could go for some teriyaki beef (and I THINK that was supposed to be suggestive and sexy and funny-just like the unfunny thing he said about muffin tops that one time-how did this show once write for Mickey?  Oh yeah, different writers plus a lot of improv from Noel, but I digress) and then it’s the godawful scene by the water which starts with Terror talking to Ian about his job like they’re on a first fucking date and shouldn’t this ground have been covered already between them?  They’ve talked about Ian being a teen pony boy, but not about Terror’s dreams to put a roof over “at least three kids’ heads”?  (and, really?  he needed to drag Ian in to “help” him find a place for three kids-that’s his goal?)  

The kiss scene was once again laughable with its lack of chemistry, plus the way Terror is panting with his open mouth right into Ian’s face, all I could think about was what did he just eat and wasn’t his breath gross, LMAO.  

But what wasn’t laughable was the total lack of consent-seriously, after months and months of being told No, Ian had no right to do any of the physical stuff he did.  It’s a shitty trope in fiction-and a dangerous one in real life-that someone is just “playing hard to get” and that the other obsessed party can do what they’re doing because it’s coming from a place of “love”.  That’s not love.  And sure Shameless had no way of knowing how quickly sexual assault was going to be taken more seriously in the world all of the sudden, but they have had time to do a quick replacement scene for what they showed.  They clearly don’t see anything wrong with it-we were supposed to think it was this big romantic reunion.  I really wonder if this scene was what Sheila got the “sounds rapey” note for-I wonder if Ian had dialogue they deleted because he sounded like what he basically has turned into-a persistent creep who wouldn’t take “no” for an answer.

Ian finally has a line when it’s over, I guess he says, “Record time”, like Terror was so horny for him after denying him all this time.  It wasn’t hot, it wasn’t sexy, it wasn’t anything especially in comparison to the fucking fireworks display that Ian and Mickey’s reunion by that very same body of water was-when the hell is the show going to realize how much lamer they’re managing to make Terror look by always trying to insert him into scenarios we already saw play out with Mickey?  And it’s literally the only line Cam has in the entire scene-even when Terror’s talking about his work, Ian’s just staring at him like he’s contemplating date rape.  

Terror’s reply to “record time” was, “You caught me off guard”-but it should’ve been, “You took me against my will.” 

Also, when Ian asks Terror if he wants to join him in the shower in the earlier scene, it isn’t hot at all, just pervy-I’m surprised they didn’t have Ian palming his dick while he asked.  He had such a predatory vibe in his Terror scenes.  

Anyway, the morning after the gross kiss scene, Ian comes down the backstairs at the Gallaghers and Terror is right on his heels like a little yippy dog.  The camera gives us a quick close up of Fiona beaming that her little bro has a bf again who won’t set a match to his perfect life.

There’s a scene thrown in of him breaking into the church with the youth that looks like Terror and Geneva (the girl who got into his bed with him).  This week, when Geneva goes to hug Ian because the church is going to be the perfect shelter (not really tho-even tho they keep referring to rooms in the back where “priests” lived-don’t churches usually only have the one priest-the majority of the building is a wide open space-what are they planning to do, just put a bunch of cots in there?)-anyway, instead of letting her hug him, Ian turns his shoulder and puts out his fist for a bump.  Isn’t it wonderful that Terror is teaching him things like don’t put your hands on underage girls?  Ian never could’ve figured that out for himself!   

Then there’s yet another scene at the EMT garage-doesn’t Ian ever go out on rescues?-and Terror once again walks right in.  Ian asks him if someone stole his lunch money which was the funniest scene in the episode because Terror has absolutely no expression on his face (or maybe it was hidden under his tremendous eyebrows).  Ian only knows he was “upset” because the script said so.  

Terror tells him that the owner of the church doesn’t want to lease it anymore.  Ian tells him he should buy it.  Terror says with what money-I think.  It was so boring I wasn’t really paying attention.  

Later that night, Ian goes to the house of the rich dude, with the intent to blackmail him into giving him money.  The guy immediately calls his wife to the door (she’s even older than the old dude) and tells her Ian’s the redhead from The Fairy Tail.  Using a stereotypical rich bitch accent, she tells Ian she hears he gives exquisite head and wonders if his talents extend to both genders and she’s willing to give him money to find out.  Ian only asks for enough for a down payment on the church, again making me wonder what the fuck the plan is to keep making payments beyond that first month.  Shameless was so prooud of Sheila’s great writing that they bestowed it with this:     https://twitter.com/SHO_Shameless/status/938460539495243777

I made a post the other night saying I don’t believe that Ian actually went thru with having any type of sex with them-that would go against the company policy that their corporate mandated trans character is just so good for Ian and without him Ian would be the same loser they retconned him into when they didn’t sign Noel to another contract.  So, we’ll see.  

I’m actually hoping Ian did go thru with it, and that Terror breaks up with him again, and that’s why there’s that still of Ian lying on his little twin bed looking miserable with Fiona talking to him.  Maybe their plan is to rip off the Mickey finding out Ian did porn for money scene.  With this shitty show, anything is possible!

Ian shows up at the diner the next day in different clothes, so at some point between the old couple and the morning, he apparently went home at least-whether or not he’s seen Terror isn’t known to us.  Anyway, Fiona’s with her boss and the two artists who are interested in the church.  Ian walks right up to them and tries to hand Margot the check, and Ian and Fiona have a moment of realizing they’re both talking about the same place.  So, here’s the thing I don’t get-why is the Shameless twitter account asking if people are Team Ian or Team Fiona?  Fiona doesn’t really have a say in who GETS the building-she doesn’t own it.  And since Margot does own other property in the area, I would think she’s going to choose the art gallery to further gentrify the neighborhood and improve her own property rates, but that she doesn’t give a flying fuck if that helps Fiona or not.  So this doesn’t really seem to be an Ian vs Fiona thing.  Also, once again, what happened to the bitch slapping South Siders we started watching this show for?  How is having two siblings battling over a $200,000 piece of property anything most people can relate to?  It’s so tedious that they’re so upscale now-are we supposed to think more money, more problems?  Everything is so contrived and boring.

Anyway, Ian and Fi take it outside and Ian seems manic, but maybe it’s just Sheila’s shitty writing and Cam working really hard to get upset over an unrealistic plot point?  But he’s right in Fiona’s face yelling about “his” kids (that he just started interacting with outside of his EMT duties LAST WEEK), and it was sort of like when he was insisting demons were trying to take “his” baby away from him when he ran off with Yevgeny.  Fi says those kids aren’t much better than the junkies (I think-I didn’t take notes and in the end, nothing that happened this week will probably ever matter much) and says something about Geneva sleeping at their house and how she bit a guy’s dick off-what?  I guess Cam needed to show us more of those script pages.  Anyway, she tells Ian to “find another church”-I really didn’t get why she thought she had the upper hand.  Shouldn’t homeless kids beat an art gallery no matter what she thinks she wants to charge for rent?  I’ve seen a few reviews saying how this is such an excellent plot point to have the siblings battle over, and it’s just...not?  It’s so made up and unbelievable and in the end won’t have any lasting consequences.  Ian’s really going to be the new savior of homeless at risk youth?  I somehow doubt it.  

Anyway-some spoilery stuff: Since Ian winds up running his “Occupy Fiona” movement and chanting “Cuntlord” at her apartments, I think we can all guess the kids don’t wind up getting the church to use as a shelter.  Also, Ian’s going to meet the Pray The Gay Away priest, so, what, now he’s just got it in his head that a church is the perfect place to convert into a shelter and goes out in search of another one?  Fiona did tell him to find another church, so I guess new Ian does exactly what everyone else tells him to do? 

I hope that whatever happens, Ian gets so involved with this cause that Terror breaks up with him because he’s not paying enough (as in “all of his”) attention to Terror.  Or that Terror breaks up with him because of Ian prostituting himself out to the old couple-or even if he did just extort money from them (because that would probably make other would-be donors reluctant to pitch in).  Hell, at this point I’d even welcome that Ian’s manic again-I’d love to see Terror not be able to deal and to just walk away because his life is hard enough already or whatever bullshit he (and the writers) would use to justify abandoning Ian when Mickey never did.  

I was going to say that at least now I have a compelling reason to tune in next week-I want to see the fallout and Terror’s reaction to how Ian got that money-but then it hit me, next week’s episode will have been written by someone else so that might not even come up.  What a mess.
