• like he'll literally look at you in that fond lovesick way with a dumb little smile on his face
• maybe a little blushy as well
• because to him it's like you feel safe with him so you're holding onto him so you don't get lost in especially big crowds
• hold onto him for as long as you want, he thrives for it...it's a bit of an ego boost as well lol
SOOBIN
• he'll think sum is wrong at first
• he'll look at you and scan your face to see if there's any distress or discomfort or anything

• little sparkles in his eyes because you're adorable wtf dude !!!!
• "you're okay?"
• you just smile and nod at him, "mhm!"
• I think he adores your habit because it's you and he adores you

• "hmmm??? Are you okay? What's wrong?"
• "you love me THAT much? Woah!"
• he giggles but he is slightly worried
• but when he's not, it's either he doesn't say anything and just has this smug look on his face
• or he'll look at you to make sure you're alright and pull you closer to him but that's more in way too crowded areas
• idk it's like a dice roll lol
• you might get a smug reaction, a concern reaction or he'll tease you
• but he does care I swear
• it also makes him feel proud because like...you feel safe with him and he can protect you
• he's so in love with you girlie
TAEHYUN
• once y'all are more comfortable in the relationship he'll learn to enjoy it
• he has boundaries and although he does love you vv much those are still in place

• just a small smile
• "everything good, Hun?" GHFF PLS I NEED HIM🙏🏻
• when you confirm you're alright, he figured you were js anxious or to not lose him or sum
• lets you be, but will tease you sometimes
• only because he thinks it's endearing
• he trusts you when you tell him that you're fine so he doesn't push or anything
• fosho wants you to do it more often, if you ask if it annoys him he'll simply shake his head and tell you it doesn't, because it really doesn't
• probably encourages you to keep doing it tbh
• idk pooks
• you're endearing to him
HUENINGKAI
• is soo blushy and shy it's cute

• because again, it's like,, you trust him ??
• ARUGH he can't take it pooks
• when y'all get back to the dorms or your apartment or sum he'll be squishing your cheeks
• rubbing his cheek against yours squealing about how cutie you are

Opla with a short fem!reader headcanons || Sanji, Luffy & Zoro
Opla!Sanji
🐟 He is more than happy to be there for you when you need him, he will be your prince protector or your knight in silver armor. What you prefer
🐟 He will hold you to his chest and kiss your hair whenever he can. He loves to rest his chin on top of your head while you snuggle into his torso.
🐟 He will pick you up to kiss you or kiss your nose. And he always lifts you up to sit on a counter so he can look you in the eye.
🐟 He will pamper you like a baby and cook you your favorite meals and desserts (especially if someone made you feel inferior because of your height) And if you're too depressed he'll even let you help him in the kitchen..
🐟 Sanji feels a very strong protective feeling when he is next to you. You are his princess, his angel. He always has a hand on your lower back rubbing his palm lovingly.
🐟 He doesn't tolerate bullies who make fun of you, he will even fight with Zoro if he hears any out of place mockery.
🐟 He is still a shameless flirt eager to make you nervous and see you blush, so he will whisper things in your ear about how pretty you are at that size or when you look at him with doe eyes from below.
🐟 Sanji likes how you squeal when he grabs you by the hips and spins you around or places you on his shoulders so you can see the sea.
Opla!Luffy
🐵 He doesn't mind your height at all, he even thinks it's cute. And since he loves physical contact, Luffy will always be patting your head like a puppy or touching your nose with the tip of his finger pook!.
🐵 He will hug you tightly and lift you into the air, spinning you around. It doesn't matter if you have a good or bad day, he will automatically make you laugh.
🐵 Sometimes he will bend down a little until he is at your height but then he remembers that it bothers you and he straightens up as much as he can and asks for your forgiveness (or he will run away due to your short temper wink, wink ok bad joke).
🐵 SORRY Y/N I DIDN'T REMEMBER THAT THAT BOTHERED YOU!!!
🐵 Luffy can't keep his hands off you (or anyone) so without warning he'll pick you up and carry you bridal style when you're tired, or let you climb on his back.
🐵 Luffy will take all the tall objects and bring them closer to you (especially the things that Zoro left on the highest shelves)
🐵 If someone bothers you because of your height, they will fight to see you smile again.
🐵 He doesn't make fun of you because he knows that you get angry or sad, but if you agree, he will give you cute nicknames.
Opla!Zoro
🗡 This man will tease you all the time, he would love to feel bigger than you when he stands next to or in front of you
🗡 If he is standing next to you he will blatantly rest his arm on top of your head until you get angry.
🗡 I can see him crossing his arms in front of you and standing up straight to stand even taller while looking down at you with a shit-eating smile.
🗡 He is the typical person who will put things in high places on purpose only to see you jump uselessly to grab them. Or he will even hold an object with his hand up until you can grab it.
🗡 He loves to grab you by the waist and lift you over his shoulder while you kick and hit his back with your fists.
🗡 "Sorry, how do you say? Sorry I can't hear you, you're too far down there"
🗡 But don't get me wrong, only he can make fun of you or call you funny nicknames. If at any time he notices that someone else is laughing at your height and that bothers you, this swordsman will be ready to draw his sword.
🗡 "Hey! she's my shorty, get yours"
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Nobody asked for this and I don't usually write things about an anime because I don't usually watch that type of animation, but anyway

💭 — SUNOO AS YOUR BOYFRIEND !
for my pooks @bearseulgs , thank you dear 🥹🫶
warnings : none?
— obviously sunoo is always cheerful and energetic around others, but when he’s with you, he’s the same just more calmer. you are basically his social battery charger since he knows you wouldn’t judge him if he acted “differently”.
— would get into those silly playful arguments where you go “you’re pretty” and then he goes, “you’re prettier.”
— “you know, you’re so cute.” “you’re cuter.” “sunoo we are not doing this again—” “oh yes we are.” someone stop him
— sure, sunoo seems cute and stuff, but he sure knows how to make you flustered. any time he manages to make you blush, he’s already got the notes app open on his phone and typing it down. so that’s why you keep getting butterflies around him!
— loves cute matching stuff. you can’t tell me he wouldn’t get excited over the cute matching pjs you got for a sleepover </3
— honestly your enabler. you could be trying to stop online shopping and just “browsing” through the website, and sunoo would suddenly appear. “that would look great on you” “you think so? yeah i thought so too—” and you easily added it to your cart. be more responsible!!!
— but honestly, you’re probably his enabler too. no wonder you both get along, temptations take over 🫶
— you two are stuck to the HIP. everywhere he is, you have to be there. everywhere you are, he’s already following you from behind. others wonder how you guys do that. they need some advice too for their partners
— pouts / scoffs when jealous or “angry” at you. however when you just shower him w/ love, suddenly the sour expression on his face turns into a happy one :) keep him happy please
— bear hugs with him!! i feel like he gives such warm hugs
— sudden hugs throughout the day is his thing. he just loves randomly opening his arms and trapping you in his embrace. not that you have anything to complain about though.
— when you’re tired, he’d happily help you with whatever you need, whether it’s removing makeup or helping you put away your clothes, he’s there to help you. he does it even though he’s tired, he likes looking out for you first.
— if he notices you’re feeling down, he’d cling onto you to try to make you feel better. it doesn’t matter if you won’t tell him what’s wrong, he’s sure his touch would help you, even if it would just a little bit.
— the type to swing your hands back and forth as you hold hands.
— lets you squish his cheeks whenever you want. he likes it whenever you do it, just not by the others as much. this leads to lot of complaints and sulking from the others, but sunoo couldn’t care less!! only you and that’s final!
— you two have days where you two just lay down comfortably to talk bs about other people. its like your own gossip nights, exclaiming whenever the other person speaks. definitely your favorite days. and so is it his
— you both are talk and listen people. no rushing, just allowing the person speak and then saying any input. this is why you guys can talk for hours
— tries to use his cute looks to bribe you into doing something for him. and trust me, it works most of the time. almost all the time. no self control, as said before
— also caves into your wants, he just wants to get everything you want. oh you want something? he’s gonna think about it for the whole day, soon buying it just for you.
— what is sunoo as a bf if i don’t mention skincare nights? you’d do each other’s skincare for the fun of it…it usually ends up with wet shirts and chaotic screaming. lovely, isnt it <3
— gift giving is the way to go for the both of you!
— he could drive, but he rather be a passenger princess because he feels like it would be much safer. not him doubting himself. but he will sit next to you, giving you directions and taking care of the music.
— nose kisses. i dont know why, he’d just leave a small peck on your nose or both of your noses would just touch.
— loves playing with your hair
— loves you too much that he would brag you to his friends <3
💭 — one more to go 🫶 also summer break finally starts so hopefully i can post daily…maybe…

[‼️TW: This post is not sexual content itself however it talks about asexuality and thus also discusses sex.‼️]
Before pride month ends I want to talk about Transformers characters that are on the aroace spectrum!!
I want to clarify that since Cybertonians don't reproduce sexually that makes them all asexual in cannon!
...However the fandom still has a lot of different interpretations and headcannons. Some of these include procreation while others are robots being sexual for the sake of "fun" rather than biology. I personally feel VERY uncomfortable with the idea of sexual reproduction in transformers but fandom is fandom and I am well aware of how it ignores the cannon so this list is made with that in mind.
As for the aromantic part of this post....
Sadly none of those are actually cannon since the creators haven't said anything about it and it's never said out loud in the media these characters are from HOWEVER I feel like most of these are very heavily implied. If you're confused about labels please look them up!
Sorry this post only contains three characters, I'm writing this literally last minute before going to the airport lol. I feel like there are maybe some more that I've missed so you're welcome to comment or reblog if you want to add to the list!
-
-
Shockwave: aromantic, asexual, could be aplatonic in some continuities.
I HAD to start with him. Speaks for itself really, if you're in the fandom you're probably familiar with how little emotion Shockwave expresses in general. Sadly though most people either see him as a completely emotionless monster or make him the super ooc :( He has no interest in sex or romance and some versions of him do not care for platonic bonds either.
The fandom sadly does not understand this, I'm not completely against him being shipped with other characters I just wish it was written properly and with his sexual/romantic orientation in mind. I feel like there's some interesting queer platonic lab partner shipping potential here but again this fandom is terrible at not sexualising him for some reason.
He does show care for others in SOME continuities, in Cyberverse we see that he used to be friends with Wheeljack and possibly some other characters. He does have emotions, even in other shows/media, we see him get visibly angry in TFP and Earthspark. So just saying that he doesn't feel anything is a straight up lie. He follows logic although we do see him make non logical choices when influenced by emotions, it's rare but it has happened.
I'm planning to make more content about him and being aroace spec soon. I want to show people that just because you don't feel forms of attraction or love towards others doesn't mean you're completely heartless. And yes I know an extremely stereotypical evil robot probably isn't the best character to use to prove a point like this but I just need people to stop mischaracterising him.
-
-
Shadowstriker: aromantic, asexual.
[most of this is refering to her in Cyberverse, thought I do mention IDW briefly]
What is it with clearly aroace female characters, usually villains, and being called masc lesbians? No offence to lesbians but please y'all let us have some representation. Sorry pooks she doesn't want a girl, she doesn't want anyone actually. Which doesn't mean she doesn't value friendship, just look at how she interacts with Soundwave and Lazerbeak! That's found family if I've ever seen it!
I think she's someone who struggles a lot with emotions and intimacy just in general, though we do actually see her emotions slipping through the "mask" more towards the end of the show, even being happy [thought it was quite bittersweet] and part of a group hug in the last episode. Well done her for actually accepting physical touch that isn't punching someone in the face! She's a very untrusting character who tends to assume the worst in everyone and is really aggressive for most of the show. She has absolutely no interest in romance or sex and is probably apothisexual/apothiromantic. But as previously stated I think platonic love is really important to her. She's the type of person who would kill for her found family, in fact considering she's a Decepticon she probably has.
She's one of those extremely interesting and emotionally complex characters and yet somehow she's always overlooked. I see people talking about wanting more well written female characters and HERE SHE IS! Honestly I'd recommend watching Cyberverse even if you're just doing it for her, it's worth it. I could write a whole essay all about her. Can y'all tell she's my favourite? Because she is.
As for shipping I do like the idea of her being in a queer platonic ship with Flamewar and Slipstream in the IDW comics they're in, though again, I don't think people know how to write qp relationships...
-
-
TFP Soundwave: demiromantic, asexual.
This one is only specific to one continuity and that's Transformers Prime. Not saying other versions aren't on the spectrum, I have a quite couple headcannons, though I feel they might be a bit ooc/self indulgent so I'm not including them since I'm trying to keep this list as "likely to be cannon" as I can.
In the show he doesn't speak and doesn't really have a face so he doesn't really express himself a lot. Though he still definitely shows emotion, just, differently I guess? He is uninterested in sex, I think he could be in a romantic relationship but it would have to be someone he's already emotionally attached to. Platonic love is extremely important to him but specifically his cassettes, they're his family. Others however.... I feel like he doesn't really care for a lot of the characters in the show but then again he doesn't show emotions much so he could just be hiding it.

Hello! May I request a GN reader x Ezreal or any of the Heartsteel boys (you can choose which ones you like) going out on an arcade date with the reader! I hope this isn't too much, thank you ^^
Arcade date
characters: Ezreal x gn!Reader, Aphelios x gn!Reader
Ezreal
He'd totally brag about being so good with arcade games during the drive there
Only to be gobsmacked at how good you are on the claw machines and shooting games
Here he is thinking he'd be able to get you something from the prize counter
Only to get his ass kicked by you
Poor babey
Ezreal's sulking now
That is until he found your weakness
Driving games
His best weapon is your worst enemy
He got first the whole time
That made him happy
Laser tag? LASER TAG
If you're on the same team, you guys are winning that game by a land slide
Opposite teams?
He's targetting you whether you like it or not
Your group still wins though LMAO
You're just that good pooks
Dance dance revolution
You guys try it out and he falls on the floor three times and twists his ankle twice
He now has a grudge with DDR. Never getting on that thing ever again
Yk those VR Rollercoaster things?
Yeah, he'd get so scared going through the dinosaur one
He's so me
But he'd go ham on beat saber LOL
He'd prolly be one to buy food from the arcade restaurant tho
I will say, those arcade fries hit DIFFERENT
He'd also probably take you to chuck E cheese before you tekk him to bring you to another arcade place LMAO
He comes out with all the extras you got from the claw machines as the things from the counter in his hands and you holding the drinks
Augh he's so cuteness!
You definitely get him some type of plush that looks like him tho
A green little rabbit or something LMAO
He'll ask for so many kisses because you embarrassed him 🧚♀️
Aphelios
AUGH I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS MAN ITS CRAZY
Other than that, he's such a God at arcade games!
The arcade is literally like a second home to him
He knows these games like the back of his hand
He'd devour in motorcycle driving games, rhythm games, claw machines
Hell! He'd even get the jackpots in most games!
He didn't even struggle on DDR 😭 he's that good!
The only time he'd probably struggle are those vr rollercoasters , mostly because it's so loud, and he just doesn't like how public your reactions can be lmao
He'd just freeze up in the end and not hit any of the virtual bugs that you need to kill💀
Either way, you guys come out just minutes before the arcade closes, hands filled with bags
He literally bought every expensive thing from the ticket counter for you
But he doesn't go as low as to buy you food from there
So you guys then go to a restaurant and eat, and after that you have some fun in the car and at home 💙
You have to thank him in a way 🙃
-------------------------------------
HAHA I LOVE THIS ASK SM THANK YOU FOR REQUESTING LOVE!! 💙💙💙

Dear Noob Healers in Timewalking Dungeons:
Don’t apologize for being a Noob Healer! I love you guys!
Most of the time I’m just chasing the tank yelling “Listen you long-leggedy Paladin or Druid or Monk (and once even a Mage), the Pook has normal length leggedies I can barely keep up and I want to do some stabbing too”.
If I’m in a dungeon with a slower tank then most of the time I’m just doing the stab-stab-shoot, stab-stab-shoot-stab-bonk rotation while singing “stabbity stabbity their life of depravity ends with a knife or two inside their body cavity” . I’m not even paying attention to my health bar because I’m hearing the happy sounds.
But Noob Healers! You guys make these old dungeons tremendously fun because you make me have to pay attention to my defensive abilities. If the Pook dies that’s entirely on the Pook.
Compared to the first time I ever did those dungeons I’m geared like a demi-god. But when I’ve got a dungeon with a Noob Healer this ho-hum time-walking dungeon suddenly becomes serious business. It feels new, like the first time I was there. My gear, my abilities, they’re suddenly not that big a deal anymore. Now if I have to do the walk of shame that’s on the Pook. Level 20 rogues have Vanish now. If I see the wipe a’ comin’ I ain’t no Paladin who goes down with the ship. The Pook can pop Vanish and wait for you guys to do the walk of shame.
But with a geared up experienced Healer, well, they do their job so well I forget I even have the vanish ability because it’s a new ability for rogues in the 20s bracket.
Noob Healers! You guys make the Pook remember that at the end of they day the Pook can always go “screw this, I leave you all to your long-leggedy drama”. The Pook can always find a little cubby hole to hide in while you all do the walk of shame. Vanish is always an option and the Pook is not a Paladin and doesn’t have to get caught up in your Paladin problems.
I seriously and honestly love that Noob Healers make these old dungeons feel new again in a way that they were when we first ran them with a Healer who was also seeing the dungeon for the first time. They make you really notice how an experienced healer is almost invisible because they’re geared and they know their job well. When you don’t get one of those dungeons where you’re all just sprinting after the tank (who you just know is laughing and giving the raspberry to every trash mob he passes), when you’re not in one of those dungeons and you’re just stabbing away and looking at the pretty lights and singing your little stabbing song and doing your rotations you appreciate that there’s a healer hard at work making sure the Pook don’t have to pop my Crimson Potion (which I assume tastes like Doctor Pepper and Fireball).
Thank you experienced healers who work so hard behind the scenes to keep the Pook stabbing and thank you noob healers who remind the Pook to maintain situational awareness and not just get caught up in the stabbing.
Anyway, the gummy I got off this Night Elf has kicked in so I’ll have a ghost pepper burrito and a large chocolate milk. That would be awesome, and yeah, Noob Healers! Don’t apologize. You’re giving the rest of the party the opportunity to see if we really live up to our self image of bad-assery or if an invisible Healer has been mom-healing their band of idiots because damned if anyone is going to kill one of their idiot children unless they deserve a spanking.
The Pook is totally down to run dungeons with a Noob Healer.

It was a cold, pale, early winter morning and Meg was on her way to The Library. Well, she called it the library but it was just a typical donation store. She called it “The Library” because the only thing she ever bought were books.
The snow on the ground was thick and sludgy. No one in their right minds would go out in the weather conditions she was in. But Meg didn’t really mind the weather because she loved reading. She didn’t care how rainy or snowy it was outside, every day she would go to The Library to find a new book.
Meg walked through the familiar doors of The Library and immediately walked over to the corner with shelves and shelves of used books. “How could anyone just give up such wonderful books and novels?,” she thought to herself. As she looked through a selection of old literature she a certain book managed to catch her eye. “No Longer Human” by Osamu Dazai. It was a semi-autobiographical novel and she thought it would be perfect to read on this winter morning.
Meg payed for the book and walked back outside to the winter chill. She noticed a doubled set of footprints next to hers from the walk to The Library. She didn’t pay much attention to them though, she was just happy to have gotten a new book to read.
As Meg walked home she figured she should hang out with some friends later that day once she finished the book. She pulled out her phone and checked the time. The phone screen lit up to reveal “6:13 am.” She figured her friend should be up by now.
Meg unlocked her phone and opened up the messages app. She scrolled a little bit until she saw the contact name “Mac!!.”
She started typing, “Hey pooks!! I know it’s early but I really want to hang out today :) pls ask your parents if we can hang out!!!! Is it ok if we go to the bowling alley? I’m bad at bowling but I know you like it so I’ll have fun! >_<“
A few minutes later a message appeared on screen from Mac. “Ofc pookie 🥰 I’ll ask my mom if we can hang out” a few seconds after that message a new one was sent by them. “Is 12:30 a good time? Also is it ok if a bring Natalie? She’s the girl with the long white dyed who im who you met with a few weeks ago”
“What the fuck did you say 🥺”
“Basically can the girl with the white hair who you met come or not”
“I don’t give a fuck bring her over if you want the more people the better 🎉🎉🎉”
A little while later Meg arrived at home. She unlocked the door and headed to her room to finally read her new book. She sat down on her bed and put in headphones to listen to light background music while she read.
As Meg got lost in the pages she failed to notice the warm brown eyes staring at her through a small opening in her curtains covering a large window.

i came here from your ao3, too shy to comment lmao. I just wanted to say that I really love your writing!! especially the cake batter one with Damon, it really makes me smile. P:EG has been a major fixation of mine for like, 9 months, so itd fun to find other fans lmao. keep writing awesome stuff !! :)
Tysmmmmm. I haven't posted stuff since I moved and things have been... A mess, barely just now learned how to tag on mobile since I no longer have a laptop to post with, and I got a job - fuck adulthood - so my free time is like. Limited. So my slow ass pacing of writing has been a mess. I am saving for a new laptop though! I am half the way done on that goal yaaay.
I don't have much on drafts rn - probably will write some simple stuff when chapter 1 drops by the looks of it - but I am happy that I can aid on other people's hyperfixations! Because. Like. I binged every single P:EG fic after watching the prologue so I wasn't much better lol
GO DRINK WATER AND I HOPE YOU HAVE A NICE EVENING POOKS 🥺🫶

Pooks was going through a phase where he likes seeing his hair grow out and it was right above his shoulders. The only problem is a boy in his class started to make fun of him saying he looks like a girl. It crushed Pooks so when Min picked him up he all but demanded she take him to get a haircut. She knew something was up but she bargained with him to wait a day or two to see how he feels.
Eventually when Yoongi is putting him to bed he finally opens up and tells him what happened. “My little bear,” he stroked Pooks’ hair back. “There’s nothing wrong with your hair. It makes you happy to have it long, right?” Pooks sniffles and nods. “But I’m not a girl, daddy.” Yoongi nods. “Boys can have long hair too. Your uncles have had long hair before.” He takes out his phone and shows him a picture of the members when they had longer hair. “What about daddy?” “I never tried it but since it looks so cool on you I think I’ll have long hair just like you.” Pooks jumped up from his bed and hugged Yoongi’s neck. That’s how we got long hair Yoongi.
I love this because it’s such a Yoongi thing to do, growing his hair out in solidarity with his son 🥹and nobody would be able to tel Pooks anything after him and his daddy have matching hair 🥰

Okay hear me out. “Tell me I didn’t miss Christmas.” Sprace. One of them has been gone for a while. Surprises the other. Proposal mayyybe? Doesn't have to be. Either way, everyone cries. Especially me. Thank you for your time. You may proceed with your day. Goodnight.
Couples of warnings - there’s some swearing and alcohol in this fic. Also in the letter, there are blacked out words, that’s intentional. When letters were sent back home during the war, they were oftentimes blacked out any sensitive information. Officials would read soldier’s letters before they were sent back home and would black out anything that would be dangerous if the enemy got their hands on the letters.
December 24, 1917
He reread the letter, for the thirtieth time since he had gotten it two days ago.
Smiling, his heart ached for how much he missed him. They hadn’t seen each other in 13 months and there were days that all Race wanted to do was stay curled up in bed and sleep the day away. But thankfully his sister-in-law was there on the bad days.
“You thinking about him?” He heard his sister-in-law ask, taking a seat beside him offering him a glass of alcohol.
Nodding, he accepted the glass, passing her the latest letter. “Got this the other day and I keep rereading it.”
Kat took the letter from him and quickly scanned it before handing it back to him. “Awww . . . he’s looking out for you 4,000 miles away.”
“But he shouldn’t be looking out for me.” Race shook his head, giving her a look. “He should be focusing on his mission and making sure he comes home safe. That’s all I want, is to make sure he’s safe and healthy when he comes home.”
Kat patted his knee, knowing exactly what he was going through. “I know . . . I got a letter from Jack the other day too. He sends his love but it’s just so hard to continue on, when all I want to do is worry about him.”
The doorbell rang, pulling her from her seat to go to the door. Race smiled at Eleanor, his niece, and Thomas, his nephew who were rambunctiously playing with the few toys Kat’s parents had gotten them as an early Christmas present. He missed the reunion that was taking place in the foyer until a heavy hand clamped down on his shoulder, causing him to jump up to face the human behind him.
His jaw dropped, seeing his best friend standing in front of him with a big grin. “Racer.”
Jumping over the couch, he pulled Jack into a hug, tears clouding his eyes as he hugged the man tight. “What, what are you doing here?”
“They sent some of us home for the holidays.” Jack laughed, pulling back as his daughter and son finally recognized their father was standing in the living room. They both clamored towards their father, both wanting to feel his arms wrapped around them, as they hadn’t been able to feel for the last year of their lives.
Stepping back, he pulled Kat into a side hug, as they watched Jack kneel on the ground, taking both of the kids into his arms, excited talking with them. “He’s home, Kat. You got your Christmas wish.”
“Yes, I did.” She smiled, laying her head on his shoulder. “He told me that Spot had to stay over there.”
Biting his lip, he was conflicted. Part of his was ecstatic that Kat and the kids had their husband and father home. The other, was devastated by the fact he didn’t get his own Christmas wish. He pressed a kiss to Kat’s forehead, pushing a smile to his face. “He’s doing his patriotic duty. He’ll be home soon enough.”
“Yes, he will Race.” She echoed his sentiments, watching her family, the smile never leaving her face. “Will you be okay tonight?”
“Yeah. Got to finish wrapping some presents but I’ll be at momma’s tomorrow for the family Christmas.” He promised, smiling at her while she nodded.
He caught up with Jack as Kat put the children to bed. They both shared a glass of scotch, Jack filling him in on how Spot really was; stuff that Spot would intentionally leave out of his letters home. Jack’s voice hollowed as he talked about everything he had seen at the front - the tragedies, horrors, and stupidity of men. Jack admitted there were nights he’d have such terrors that it was easier to stay awake than to close his eyes.
“I wish I could tell you everything I’ve seen but it’s bad enough that everytime I close my eyes, I have to replay it. It’s like a movie that never stops skipping.” Jack sighed, his head dropping. “Just, when Spot comes home, don’t press him. He’ll tell you, but in his own time. It’s not lighthearted the things we’ve seen over there.”
All Race could do was nod as he listened to Jack’s words. Yes, he looked like the same man that left 13 months ago, but Race could tell that Jack had changed. Whether that was for the good or bad, Race couldn’t tell.
Leaving the couple to enjoy the night, he made his way out into the cold New York winter’s night before shuffling his way back to his own home. The streets were quiet, very few people out and about as most were tucked in, with dreams of what St. Nick would soon bring them. He smiled and wished a Merry Christmas to those he encountered, but mostly kept his head down and kicked at snow along his way.
Pulling out his keys, he jogged up the stairs to the brownstone, letting himself in. He turned the heat back on, rubbing his hands together to bring some warmth to them. Walking into the living room, he stopped short. The Christmas Tree was illuminated. His eyes went wide as he thought back to hours earlier, when he knew for a fact, he had unplugged it before he left for Kat’s home.
His eyes swept around the small brownstone. Nothing was out of place, everything was where it was supposed to be. Moving to unplug the tree, he noticed a small box that wasn’t there earlier. Picking it up, he saw that it was wrapped in red and white striped paper. Seeing his name written on the gift tag, he didn’t think it would hurt to open it up. As his finger slid under the paper, something caught his attention. “You were always the worst for waiting until Christmas morning to open your presents.”
His head snapped up, towards the voice he hadn’t heard in 13 months. The present dropped from his hands as tears instantly clouded his eyes, making it impossible to guarantee it was his voice. “Spottie?”
Soft feet padded closer to him, pulling him into the strong arms he had craved. Race completely lost it, breaking down, sobbing in relief, happiness, anxiety, and fear.
Spot held him as he cried. Picking him up bridal style, he took them to the couch. Leaving Race on his lap, he ran his hand through Race’s hair, making gentle cooing sounds, trying to calm him down. “Hey, hey I’m right here. I’m okay.”
Sniffling, he wiped his face before leaning forward and capturing Spot’s lips in a kiss. “W-what are you doing here?”
“What do you mean? I can leave if you want me to.” Spot chuckled, his hand tracing the side of Race’s face, dragging him in for another kiss. “I’m here for Christmas.”
Race shook his head, leaning into Spot’s touch, with a shake of his head. “You’re not moving! Jack said that you had to stay behind.”
“Jerk.” Spot smiled. “I wanted to surprise you so he said that he would handle it. I’m sorry that he made you worry. The plan all along was to come home for Christmas.”
Race looked at Spot, sensing there was more to the story, but at the moment he was too happy to really dig into it more. “Talk later?”
“Yes.” Spot nodded. “But I believe you have a present to open.”
Race looked over to the tree. He scampered over to where the present laid, grabbing it before settling himself back on Spot’s lap. “Can I open it?”
“I mean, you were going to regardless of if I scared you earlier or not.” Spot chuckled, leaning his head against Race’s shoulder. “But yes, you can go ahead and open it.”
Running a finger under the wrapping paper, Race quickly tugged it off, discarding the wrapping paper on the ground. Opening up the small box, he gasped at what was nestled in the cotton. Spot picked up his left hand, giving it a squeeze. “I’m sorry I’m not on a bended knee, but what the last 13 months have taught me is that I need you in my life and I want you in my life. I hated that we spent those months apart but I had to do what I needed to do but I’m done . . . I was honorably discharged as was Jack, though that is probably still a secret. But I love you, Racer, to the moon and back and forever and ever. And I would be absolutely honored, if you would be my husband and marry me.”
“Yes.” Race whispered, tears flowing down his face. “Yes, Spottie, absolutely, a 1000 times yes. And I love you too.”
Taking the ring out of the box, Spot slipped it on Race’s left ring finger. He pulled him in for a kiss, as Race’s hand cupped his jaw. “I love you, snookums.”
“Love you too pooks.” A yawn escaped his mouth, groaning. “I want to stay up all night with you but I’m supposed to be a momma’s tomorrow morning.”
Spot smiled, lacing their fingers together. “Ahh . . . the annual Larkins’ family Christmas.”
“Yes.” Race nodded. “But we could have some fun with this, since no one knew you were coming home.”
Spot shrugged. “Just Jack and now you know.”
“I’ve got an idea but first, I want to cuddle with you and catch up with you.” Race stood, tugging on Spot’s hand. They did the domestic things - turning off the Christmas tree, making sure the house was locked up, before heading to their bedroom.
Flicking on the fairy lights Spot had hung up before he left, Race quickly stripped to his boxers before collapsing into bed. Spot was quickly behind him, dragging Race into his arms, dropping a kiss on his forehead. Sighing, Race traced a scar on Spot’s chest, a shuttered breath escaping his mouth. “Do I want to know?”
“I’ll tell you everything about the 11 new scars that grace my body . . . but not tonight.” Spot sighed. “All I want to do is sleep in your arms, the only thing I’ve been dreaming about since we got the discharge papers.”
Race nodded. “We’ll have a lot to discuss over the next few days.”
“Or the next lifetime.” Spot pressed another kiss to his forehead. “We have our entire lives in front of us. I love you.”
“Love you too Spot.”
The Next Morning
Sunlight streamed through the open shades as Race rolled over to his back. Spot’s side of the bed was cold, as if he had been up for hours. Blinking a couple of times, Race wondered if he had dreamed it all . . . but a heaviness on his left hand reminded him that it wasn’t a dream at all.
Pushing himself out of the bed, he put on a pair of sweatpants and a long sleeve shirt before padding out of the bedroom. Sniffing the air, he grinned as his feet led him to the kitchen. Leaning against the doorway, he grinned seeing Spot with a Santa’s hat on his head and a spatula in his hand, singing along to “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” as it played on the radio.
“Merry Christmas.” He whispered as the song came to an end, causing Spot’s head to snap up from the stovetop.
A soft smile crossed Spot’s lips as he set the spatula down, making his way over to Race. Pulling the taller man into his strong arms, Spot pushed himself onto his tiptoes and gently kissed Race good morning. “Merry Christmas fiancé.”
“Say it again.” Race lazily whispered, capturing Spot’s lips in a kiss.
Spot chuckled, shaking his head. “Have you met my fiancé yet?”
A big cheesy smile crossed Race’s lips as he hummed in contentment. “What are you making?”
“Pancakes and there’s bacon as well.” Spot made his way back to the stove, looking over his shoulder. “Coffee’s ready. Come join me.”
Grabbing a mug from the cabinet, Race poured himself a cup before topping up Spot’s own mug. Taking a sip of the delicious brew, he hummed before sitting at the counter, a warm feeling of watching Spot in the kitchen. Race wasn’t the best in the kitchen, he could get by. But in the last 13 months, he had taken several cooking lessons from Kat and had improved significantly.
“What’s the plan for today?” Spot asked, flipping over the few strips of bacon that were in the cast iron pan.
Taking another sip, Race pondered on the day that laid ahead. “I have to be at momma's by 11. I’m guessing you’re going to want to go but how do we surprise the family?”
“I’ve been thinking about that.” Spot grinned. “How about you go in and I’ll ring the doorbell about 20 minutes after you’re settled?”
Race’s eyes lit up, grinning. “Or you can come in with me and just say that I picked you up along the way.”
Pointing the spatula in his direction, Spot grinned. “That’ll work too.”
Soon breakfast was served, sitting down at the kitchen table. Race’s foot nudged Spot’s too many times to call it accidental, Spot loudly protesting Race’s defense. “It’s 9am, what shall we do?”
“I need to finish wrapping presents before we head to momma’s.” Race gave him a look, knowing that was the one thing Spot dreaded. But to his surprise, Spot grinned and nodded his head. “Okay! Let’s get to wrapping!”
The next thirty minutes was chaotic. Spot was frustrated that the paper wasn’t cooperating while Race chuckled at his lack of skills. Spot gave up on wrapping anything, trying to steal kisses away from Race as he struggled with the tape. Before long, they were in a rhythm, where Spot would hand Race pieces of tape while Race made smooth lines of wrapping paper.
Putting the last piece of tape in place, Race looked at the five presents that were neatly wrapped. Gathering the excess wrapping paper, scissors, and tape, he put them all away before offering Spot a hand. “Shall we get dressed and gather everything up before heading out?”
They made quick work of putting all of the presents into bags before getting themselves dressed. Taking one look around the brownstone to ensure they had everything, they left soon after to take the Subway to Queens. Medda had moved out there a few years earlier, wanting to get away from the bustling center of Manhattan but close enough that she could still have her theater.
The subway was quiet that morning, as they anticipated due to everyone being home for the holiday. They had an entire subway car to themselves as their bodies swayed with the car as they got deeper into the undergrounds.
Race stole a couple of kisses as they pulled into the subway station before making their way above ground. Getting their footing, they headed towards Medda’s own brownstone just as the bells at the local church rang 11:00. Jogging up the stairs, Race rang the bell, bouncing excitedly on his tiptoes.
Jack’s excited face greeted them at the door as he pulled both men into a hug. Race sighed, wrapping his arms around Jack. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. You don’t know how hard it was to talk to you last night and not tell you that he was waiting for you at the house.” Jack grinned, as Race pulled back.
Race laughed. “I bet it was but it was the best surprise.”
Race scooted past them, not before seeing Jack pull Spot into a reluctant hug. Race smiled at the two, leaving them as he walked deeper into the house. Katherine was standing next to Medda, both women had soft smiles on their faces at seeing him. “Merry Christmas baby.”
“Merry Christmas momma.” He let her drag him into a warm hug, as his arms wrapped around her body. “Love you.”
“Love you too.” She pulled back, giving him a look. “Now where did Jack get to?”
He shrugged, a coy smile on his face. “He opened the door for me then disappeared.”
“You’re hiding something, sir.” Kat raised an eyebrow at him with a grin.
“Maybe I am, maybe I’m not.” He said as Thomas and Eleanor collided into his legs with squeals that Santa had come.
Dropping to his knees, he listened excitedly as they told him everything the jolly St. Nick had brought them.
“Tell me I didn’t miss Christmas.”
He grinned hearing Medda and Kat’s gasps as Spot made his appearance in the living room, with a grinning Jack standing beside him.
Both women looked between Jack, Spot, and Race with jaws dropped and tears in their eyes. “Surprise!”
Kat got to Spot first, pulling him into a hug with a laugh. Medda stood there, watching her family eagerly engage with one another as she wiped a stray tear from her eyes. Pulling back from Kat, Spot looked over at Medda with a smile. “Don’t cry momma.”
“I’m not.” She said, watching Spot walk closer to her.
He pulled her into a hug with a chuckle. “You taught me not to lie, momma. I see those tears. It’s okay . . . I’m alright and I’m home.”
She squeezed him tight, as even more tears fell from her face. Race grinned as Kat came to stand beside him. “When did you find out?”
“He was at the house when I got home last night. The tree was lit and there was a present under the tree. He caught me as I opened it.” He smiled, watching Medda talk with Spot and Jack.
She grinned, looping her arm through his. “And what was the present?”
“All will be revealed in good time, dear Kat.” He gave her a look, knowing she would pester him, trying to find out information before the rest of the family.
The front door opened and closed with a slight bang as Crutchie, Albert, Finch, and Small were crowded into the foyer. They shredded their winter gear before making their way into the living room, shock on their faces by seeing Spot and Jack talking casually with momma as if they weren’t abroad for the last year. Race and Kat stood back and watched the siblings greet one another with enthusiasm.
Soon the group made their way over to Kat and Race and greeted them, excitement heavy within the house. Soon everyone was settled in the living room, exchanging information and catching up on what has been happening the last year. Spot’s hands were laced with Race’s as they sat on the couch, talking quietly with the rest of Spot’s siblings.
Smalls gasped, looking between Race and Spot with a grin. “Racer?”
Looking over at her, he smiled at her. “What’s up Smalls?”
“What’s that on your hand?” She asked, pointing to his laced hands with Spot.
Race’s eyes floated over to Spot, shrugging his shoulder as Spot tilted his head. “Your brother asked me to marry him last night . . . . and I said yes.”
Screams and exclamations erupted from the group as Race finished talking. They were pulled off the couch as hugs were exchanged. “How?”
Spot and Race glanced at one another, grinning at Kat’s question. “After I finished sobbing when he scared me at the house, he asked me. It was sweet and straight from the heart and perfect. I couldn’t say yes fast enough.”
“Thirteen months is a long time to be away from someone and a lot of time to think.” Spot shrugged, lacing his hand with Race’s. “I knew I wanted to marry Race and I regretted not doing it before I left so as soon as I could, I asked him.”
Smalls, Kat and Medda all awed at Spot’s sentiments as he shook his head at them. “Race cried like a baby and said yes really fast.”
Jack, Finch, and Albert slipped back into the living room with their arms full of beer bottles and cups of wine. Once everything was distributed, Albert held up his glass. “A toast, to Spot and Race. Race you’ve felt like one of us since the beginning so it’ll be wonderful to officially welcome you to the family. Spot, it’s about damn time. So to Spot and Race, cheers!”
“To Spot and Race.” Everyone echoed before taking a sip of their drinks.
The rest of the day was spent exchanging gifts, catching up with one another, and just enjoying being together, safe and healthy, as a family.
Feedback would be wonderful. I would love to know what you think! Thank you @deliciouspeachpirate for sending this in!

“Dope A-F” - 8/29 - 9/16 - “Headlining in Roanoke/Fairfax, and a 9/11 show ”
Well I am officially tired of doing this blog. I am fatigued. Keeping up with my new schedule is almost impossible. Three blog posts a week coupled with new videos, new material, shows, and my day job is proving to be too much. So I am going to do this blog until I am not going to do it. It has been almost a year since I started keeping track and I think I have grown so much as a comedian since then, but it is just becoming super hard.
So without further ado let’s hop right into it and check out what’s been going on the last few weeks with #cutecomedy. Come on LAYDEES!
8/29
I headed up to Roanoke to close out a show at Blue 5. Chaz Blevins was putting on the show and he had a pretty solid lineup. Johnny Camacho was hosting, and the openers were Chaz, this dude Zack White, and Melissa Douty. So I knew I was going to have to bring my A game.
I got up there a little early to set up my camera. The room is amazing. It is downstairs at the restaurant. It is like a cool tucked away speakeasy. After setting up my camera I went upstairs to grab a bite to eat. I had some egg rolls stuffed with bar b q and Mac and cheese. It was delicious.
When I went back downstairs people had really started to fill in the show. It was going to be a super fun night. We started about 15 minutes late to give people a chance to get seated and get drinks. Then Johnny got on with it.
Johnny had a solid set warming up the crowd. He got some pretty big laughs, and had the audience as ease before he brought up Chaz. Chaz then did well. The crowd was super supportive, and he basically started his set shitting on Johnny which was funny. Then I told Johnny I was waiting for the callback shitting on him. Then 5 minutes later Chaz did it and Johnny and I busted up laughing. He went on to have a solid set.
Then Zack White went up. I had never seen this dude before and he was definitely funny. He was definitely alt and weird, but it really worked with this crowd. He threw a baseball into the audience and then faked an injury and laid on the ground.
Then Melissa Douty went up and she absolutely destroyed. I mean tore the roof off of the place. Everybody loved her. She did about 20 and it laugh after laugh. She was going to be incredibly hard to follow. She is from the area, and definitely was able to relate to the audience and get them on board. So after she slaughters it is my turn.
I go up and realize I know have to reset the room. So I use the first 5 minutes of my set to kind of ease people into what they are about to see. I do some crowd work, and try to get them on my wave length. This starts to go well and I am building up momentum.
I talk to a few audience members and get some pretty big reactions. I then weave in some material and it is killing even harder. I think talk to a few more audience members including a girl I found out later was Chaz’ daughter. I was really having a lot of fun. I was only supposed to do 30 but I went well over that. I was able to do a bunch of new at the end and get a good response and actually work some stuff out which felt nice. I’d totally give this set an A-. I felt good being able to follow Melissa after how hard she killed.
After the show I talked to a few people and then went over to a bar to hang with Johnny, and a few others. After hanging I hopped into my car and headed home.
8/30
The next night we had The After Show. Which is our political comedy roundtable show. This time Chris wanted to focus this one on sexuality. So I booked Jason Kusterer (White Cis/Het comic), Katherine Malone (black trans female comic) , Samantha Padgett (white female trans comic), and Sammy Major (black/gay/Non-binary) to be on the show.
I got to the show early and tried to set everything up. I put the furniture on the stage with Kat. I then ordered a grilled cheese, and set up my camera. I had a really fun time catching up with Kat. I hadn’t seen her in a super long time.
Then Samantha showed up. We all went to the green room and got situated. We tried not to talk about the topics for the show too much, but we did come up with some interesting things to cover in the show.
Then everyone else showed up. It was a good hang going on. We didn’t have a huge crowd. Honestly it was one of our lighter attended shows. I’d say there was about 25 to 30 people there. I also took a few polaroid “Eddie Pooks” pictures that turned out great.
After about another 20 minute wait we started the show. I went out there and brought everyone else out. Then we went right into it.
I am always torn because of this show. I think it is important and interesting, but it isn’t always the funniest show. The audience is tight because these are hot button issues, but when you do get a laugh it feels so damn amazing. I had some pretty good lines, and really it was kind of an amazing show. I think we learned a lot, and laughed quite a bit, but I don’t always feel good during or after this show. This is one of those shows where I need people to tell me it was good. I’d give this one a C. Good jokes, great subject matter, but not a ton of laughs.
After the show I hung out with some friends and caught up. Got a few drinks and then went to Waffle House. Where I met a drunk rapper who was surprised to find out I was a comedian. He kept trying to brag and put me down. He was like if you're a comedian why aren’t you at The FunnyBone. It felt so good to be like I am there in two weeks. He was wasted. After this I headed home and got a good night’s sleep.
9/1
I headed up to Fairfax with Paige the next day. I had asked Taylor O’Sullivan to come do a guest spot, but he didn’t respond in time. Paige and I listened to a horrific true crime podcast, and just talked about comedy. I had also asked my buddy Dom Grayer to drop by and do a spot on the show, and I extended a guest spot to a Pittsburgh Comic named Joe Esch.
John Coulter had booked me to headline his room at Blue Iguana. I had asked for the night even though we were going to have a poor attendance due to the holiday.
We get there and we get a nice hang going. There is only like 8 or 9 people there, but honestly I am just excited to do around 30 minutes. I love longer sets. I set the lineup after I find out Joe and Dom can’t stay after their sets. So I set it up as a piggyback show with Joe, Dom, Paige, and then I'd close out. I also tell them to work a little cleaner up top. The only reason I said this was at the behest of Coulter. He said it is a little older crowd, and they're conservative (not in their politics, but just keep it cleaner).
Joe said he could do it, and then he went up and didn’t work clean. It was some pretty sexual material, and honestly it didn’t seem like he wanted to be doing the show. This might just be his energy, but legit it was like why did I give this dude a spot? I get it. It’s not a huge crowd, but I offered you time because you were looking for time. He did fine, but John made me light him early just due to the subject matter. He then brought up Dom Grayer to the wrong name, and I legit was like well shit.
Dom went up and cracked them though. He had some solid pops, and he had a good set. He was followed by Paige who did well as well. Nobody did terribly. It was just a light show.
Then it was my turn. I went up and did a lot of crowd work up top. I’d say 10 minutes or so before going into my material. It was all working really well. I was able to connect with these people and understand that even though there was only a few of them they wanted to laugh. I got everyone involved and a few more people walked in.
All of my stuff was working. The jokes, and the crowd work was dope. I tried a few new things, and then got off stage. After this Coulter asked me to do an encore because 6 other people had just walked in at the end of my set. So the audience cheered and I went up and did 25 more minutes of crowd work, and new jokes. This was awesome I got some huge pops, and I got them sit in the front row. it was truly a special night. I’d give this set an A-.
After this Paige and I headed back to RVA. I hit up Taylor again and he met us at Denny’s for a late night meal. Then we all headed our separate ways.
9/4
After a few days off there was a new mic in town. I went over to Isley Brewing to do their mic after work. I got a beer and did some writing before the mic. It was a fun night because I got to see and hang with a bunch of my friends. Buhe was hosting, and we had Paige, Taylor, Adam Chiodini, David Luzader, Samantha Padgett, Jake Snyder, Carlton K, and a bunch I know I am forgetting.
Buhse shows up and gets the list ready. He tells me I am up first. There is an ok crowd, but the setup is weird. It is really bright in there because it starts at 7 and it definitely seemed like these people were surprised comedy was happening.
After his set he brought me up and I think I did as well as I could have. I had a lot of new stuff, and it all did pretty well. I tried one thing for the very first time and I am so happy that it worked. I wasn’t killing and I stumbled in a few spots. There was a giant Jenga game on stage so after every joke that bombed I’d take a brick out and drop it on the floor. This got a couple laughs, but I mostly did it for me. I give this set a C.
I watched a few more sets and then Paige and I headed over to Home Sweet Home. I got some writing done, and ordered a delicious dinner. I got to see some other friends like Patrick Nowaczyk, Taylor Baldwin, and Jason Kusterer. Jason had me going up like 5th which I was excited about.
There actually was a tiny little crowd there. The best part was they were into the show. They were having a fun time. After a few comics did ok it was my turn. Kusterer gave me a funny intro and I just tried a bunch of new stuff. I did some of the earlier stuff, but changed the inflection and tried adding some tags. it worked ok. I enjoyed my set. I’d give it a C+.
I went downstairs and talked to my friends a little bit more, including Beswick. It was a dope night. I then packed up, said goodbye, and headed home.
9/6
On Friday I had a spot on Wabi Sabi. I hit up a few people to ride with my but only Taylor could go. We headed up and had a good time. He was actually able to grab a guest spot.
The lineup was going to be Klingman, Liz Carr, Taylor, Torrey, me, Luray and then Wingle. It was supposed to be a packed show. So we knew it was going to be fun.
The show starts, and they're a rowdy crowd. Klingman has a pretty good set. So does Liz. Taylor only did about 90 seconds he had freaked himself out so much, but he didn’t bomb. Then Torrey had a pretty hot one. By the time he got off stage the audience was wasted. They were loud, and wanted to interrupt the show.
I go up and legit don’t get a single joke out. I am in a battle with the audience for 15 minutes. I am battling drunks and hecklers. I am shitting all over them and being mean. It is killing. The audience loves it. Which is frustrating to me. This goes on and I get some huge laughs, but I am not having fun. I was glad I overcame the adversity, but hated that I had to. I'd give this set an A-.
Then Luray and Wingle went up. I didn’t watch their sets because I was so freaking upset about mine. I got to decompress and then I got ready for ‘Sex With Me Is Like”.
We all got back on stage after (except for Liz and Luray who didn’t want to). Jaye Toler got on stage, but hadn’t done a set earlier. it was a super fun game this time. I had some huge laughs and only one joke didn’t work. Every time they said something about me I had something about them. I got Taylor involved and I had the last joke. I made fun of Jaye and it destroyed.
After the show I drove Taylor back and then headed home to pass out.
9/7
The next night I was one of the headliners on Castleburg. I had been ‘banned” the previous month by Mike Engle because I had bailed on it the previous two to do paid gigs. Which wasn’t a big deal at all, and made sense. I was so excited to be tasked with being a part of the two year anniversary show.
Mu Cuzzo and I were the headliners. I had invited a few coworkers and told myself I was only going to do new stuff. There was a pretty good sized list of comics.
I was stoked to see my coworkers, and super stoked to see some comic friends to hang with like Mike, Anthony, Adam Chiodini, Jack Parker, Ben Oliver, Heather Joyce, Danny Dunlea, Jake Snyder and plenty others I am sure I am forgetting. I set up my video camera and told people if they wanted their sets I could get them for them. I had a few people take me up on the offer.
I love the bartenders here. They are so nice, and so much fun to talk to. They look forward to and enjoy the show. Definitely a dope venue with killer staff, and good beer.
There was a pretty good crowd, and since I knew I wanted to have the freedom to do new stuff I asked to be the first headliner to go up. I knew that Mu would be doing his best stuff, and really bringing it so even if my new stuff failed at least he could pick up the slack and it wouldn’t be a shit show.
The crowd was pretty good. They were into it from the beginning of the show. Mike had a good set and so did the comics in the first round. The winner of that was Heather Joyce. Then it was my turn to go up,
I had a dope set. Almost all of my new stuff worked. I was able to work on wording, and got some solid laughs. I was super happy to do 12 of my 15 minute set as new. It feels like I am progressing and becoming a better comic. I didn’t murder, but I had some jokes get really good pops, and I felt like I broke the crowd open a bit. I'd give this set a B.
The rest of the show went well. Mu had a really good set. His material was clicking and he used his energy to his advantage. It was cool to see him pull that set together and put something tight together.
The rest of the show was fun. Anthony had a hot set, and Jake Snyder ripped a mic stand in half and just held half of it on stage. It was hilarious. All in all a super fun show.
Afterwards I hung out with some comics, and talked shop. I got to sit and hang with my coworkers a bit to which was really dope. I had such a wonderful night. It all ended with Jake, Danny Dunlea, and I going to Denny’s to have a super late meal. Afterwards I headed home to pass out.
9/8
The next day I went to Busch Gardens and had an absolutely wonderful time. Legit just a great experience. I haven’t been all year and can’t wait to go back in October. Afterwards I had time to go do some time at the competition at Hof Garden.
This show is hosted by Mu, Jameson, and Kate Carroll. Everyone does five minutes and they grade your set like American Idol at the end of the show they have the last month’s winner close it out, and then they go announce the winner from this month.
I was definitely the most experienced comic at this show. I should have just done a set and not put myself in for the contest, but one of the things you win is a spot on a live podcast that has a pretty good following and I could use that.
I was up 3rd or fourth and there was a nice intimate crowd there. I asked Ryan Mather to record my set and he obliged. The first few comics did ok. They got some good pops, but the crowd was ready to laugh. I told myself I was going to only do new material. I didn’t want to do my best polished shit because that doesn't accomplish anything, and this way even if I lose I can be stoked that I worked out material.
I went up and had a super fun set. I didn’t kill, but all of the jokes worked. I riffed some good stuff, and added on to some bits. This was an extremely fun, and productive sets. I wish all open mic sets felt like this.
After I got off stage I went and hung out in the back. I didn’t feel like watching a ton of sets. I got to hang with Brian Mann (who had a really good set), Ryan Mather, Melissa Harris, Ben Oliver, Bryan Williams, Taylor Baldwin, and a few others including a comic I hadn’t seen in a long time. He came to hang and not perform, and support his buddy who was closing it out.
I had a female comic ask why I didn’t give notes and I had to explain I don’t give them usually to female comedians. I don’t want to come across as “mansplaining” comedy, and I've had female comics ask for notes and then I watched them throw them in the trash. It is just easier for me, and better business to not really do that. Last thing I need is someone who doesn’t know me saying they saw me telling a woman how to do comedy.
After everyone had gone up they went to add up the scores. Brock then went up and he had a solid set. He did a new song thing, and people seemed to dig it a lot.
After this they brought, myself, Beth Tucker, and Brian Mann on the stage. They all said really nice things about us, and then announced the winner. It was me. I was super stoked. Afterwards I hung out with a bit, but headed out pretty quickly because I had work in the morning.
9/9
The next day I headed up to The Southern after work. I got some flyers from Jeyon for our show we have in October at Holly’s. I set everything up and got ready for the show. I was pretty stoked because I had a friend from college that I haven't seen in like 9 years say they were coming. When they showed up it was super fun to finally catch up
We had a pretty good crowd show up actually. They were into it from the beginning. I got to see a bunch of my friends go up. Like Brandon Beswick, Alex, Paige, JR, Chris, and plenty of others. Everybody does pretty well.
It is finally my turn. I go up and thoroughly enjoy my set. I am getting in a good rhythm of trying new stuff, and keeping what works. The new really hit pretty hard tonight. I didn’t destroy, but the jokes are getting better. The progress is amazing to feel. I’d give this set a B-.
After the show I headed home because I was exhausted. I said goodbye to my friend and dipped out.
9/11
Tonight I had a 9/11 benefit show put on my Nick Deez to do in Newport News at Cozzys. I was co-headlining and was excited for it. I headed down right after work.
I met Nick, Ian Nightengale, and Torrey Huggins for dinner. We talked shop and ate some pizza before headed next door to Cozzy’s to record my podcast before the show. The episode turned out great. I had Ian and Nick go up against Rock and Torrey. Super funny episode and I cannot wait to release it.
We then get ready for the show to start. The lineup is Torrey, Ian, Rock, Nick, Tim Macklin, AC Smith, Brent Schreiber, myself, and Fred McKinnon.
We were worried about a crowd, but honestly we got about 25 people in there. Which is super dope for an off night. The show got started and it was dope.
They were a little tight for Torrey’s set, but he woke them up. Then Ian had a really strong set as well. This just kept building. AC had a hot one, then Brent, then Rock had a super offensive set. Nick did some newer stuff during his set. Then Tim went up before me and it just didn’t stop.
I went up and went straight into crowd work. We were running a little behind, and I didn’t want them to get tired. So I just addressed the crowd for about 10 minutes, and it was working really well. Like I was killing with the crowd work, and then at the last ten minutes I did a bunch of newer stuff that hit really hard too. I got off feeling really good about how it went. I’d give it an A-.
After my set I packed my stuff up and hung out until the show ended. Fred had a good set, and I got to go outside and talk shop with the guys. We talked about some comedic frustration and limitations that we have to put up with. Sometimes it is good to just vent a bit, and then you feel way better. Afterwards I got in my car and drove back to try to make McCormacks in time.
I luckily did. I got there with only one comic left so I got to squeeze in before him. The crowd was dead. Like two people paying attention, but I did brand new stuff. I just needed to say into a microphone to work on it. I bombed super hard, but a couple ideas got a few laughs so I know where to start. I’d give this set a D-.
As soon as I was done I headed home to pass out. I had a long day the next day.
9/12
I drove up to DC to host for my buddy Dan Lamorte at DC Comedy Loft. I got there a little before showtime, and got to meet the other comics. Which included Maggie Crane, Michael Terry (who I had met with Dan in Richmond last year) and Trevor Wallace (IG comic) who was headlining downstairs but popped up for a guest spot.
It was a light crowd, but they all were fans of Dan’s so they were into it. Dan was doing a guest spot downstairs as well so there were a lot of moving parts. I went up and had a good hosting set. They liked me and I didn’t have to do any crowd work. I just did some newer and older jokes. They all worked, and I had the crowd warmed up. I’d give this set a C.
Next up was Trevor. It was obvious that standup wasn’t his first love. He got huge on IG and he had a great stage presence and was extremely likable on stage. It just didn't seem tight at all. it looked like a dude doing what he thought standup was supposed to be. He is huge, and selling out rooms. I respect he is working on the craft, but he is definitely an internet guy that jumped over to standup because it was another avenue to make some money.
After his set I brought up Maggie Crane. Michael Terry told me that I would need to do some time in-between comics because Dan might not be back from his set downstairs. So after her set I went up and did a few more jokes. They also went well. I was just worried that if he wasn’t back when Michael got off stage then I’d have to stall again.
Michael went up and had a solid set too, and right before he got off Dan showed up. I brought Dan up and sprinted over to Big Hunt to try to get another set in before my night was over.
I got to go up pretty quickly after I got there and I felt pretty good doing newer material. The crowd was weird, and they didn’t dig everything and I went too hard no anti-vaxxers apparently. I’d give this set a C.
I then sprinted back to Comedy Loft and caught the end of the set. I got to hang and chill for a bit before packing up and heading home. I was stoked because this was the earliest I'd gotten to leave DC in a while.
9/13
I was so excited because this weekend I got to feature at the Richmond Funny Bone. This was going to be my second weekend featuring there. I was so ready for it to be better than the last. I was extremely nervous, but knew it was going to be fun because my friend Anthony Thompson was hosting. I was also worried because the last time I featured there my dad was at the show. So this was bringing up all kinds of memories.
The early show was Vicki Barbolak (America’s Got Talent) headlining. It was an ok sized crowd. Nothing crazy, but definitely close to full. It was the whitest I have ever seen a crowd there. I am used to this club being more of an urban club. I knew I was going to have to adjust my material, and was worried this might end up being a long weekend.
The show starts and Anthony goes up to warm them up. Then I go up. I do ok. I could not get in a good rhythm. I was scared and I felt like all of my stuff wasn’t working. I powered through and did my time, but I was not happy with this set. I’d give it a C-.
Afterwards I watched some of Vicki’s set, but mostly got a bite to eat and tried to decompress before the second show. After the show ended I didn’t even really talk to the people coming out. I was too ashamed. I didn’t kill, and I didn’t feel like I deserved to be there. I did here from several people that I did better than I felt, but that doesn’t mean much.
The second show the headliner was James Lawson. It was definitely a black crowd, and I was ready to show what I can do. Anthony went up and we could tell this crowd was going to be better.
Then I went up and definitely had a better set. I wasn’t killing but I had some pretty good pops. Nothing completely bombed, and that was a relief. I did some fun crowd work and got off on a pretty big laugh! I’d give it a C.
After this I hung out for a bit. I got some food, and just chilled. After James set I got to talk to a few people and actually got to give out some #cutecomedy stickers. After everyone left I headed home to prepare for the rest of the weekend.
9/14
The next day I relaxed at home, did some cleaning, and watched the Virginia Tech football game. It has been really difficult to do it without dad, but I have to. After hanging out for a while I headed into town ready to have two great sets.
I get there and Vicki is doing an interview with a lady who wrote a book. She is getting like a recommendation from Vicki so she can post it online. She says she is too christian and can’t really watch the show, but she wanted to sit for a while. So her and her husband take the comics table which means I have to take down my camera. Which straight up is annoying as shit. Especially since she wasn’t going to stay for the whole show. There were other tables that had open seats. She could have sat there, but nope. Had to move the camera.
The show starts and it is almost full. Anthony had a solid hosting set. I went up and had a really strong feature set. I was super proud of it. I didn’t do any crowd work. Just 20+ minutes of my material and they really enjoyed it. I did a new opener and put my old opener after it. Which kept it fresh and gave me two big pops up top. I closed pretty strong too. I’d give this set a B+
Afterwards I went and ate and did video editing in the green room. After the show I went outside and met with people. I had a good buddy from high school who has come to a few shows show up. He gave me some strong compliments and he said he loved that I didn’t do crowd work. He said it was all material, and it was awesome. That means a lot to hear since I worry my crowd work is way better than my jokes.
The second show starts and they are rowdier than the first crowd. Anthony did well, and addressed a table of hecklers. I went up and had a hot one. The jokes worked, but where I really got them was the crowd work. There were two tables doing ladies night, and I was able to pick on them. One was wasted and the others were classier. There was a dude and his wife in the front who were super into the show. Super handsome dude, and gorgeous lady so I was able to bring them into the fold. Such a super fun set. I’d give this one a B+/A-.
After my set I headed over to meet up with my buddy Kenn for a bit. We chilled and talked and I told him I had to go back to hand out stickers. I had people say I was better than the headliner which is bull shit, but still nice to hear. I handed out a bunch of stickers and got a good number of people to follow me on social media.
After all of this Kenn and I went to grab a bite to eat and catch up. Then I headed home.
9/15
This was a super chill day. I got Pho and hung out with some friends. I also went to Coco and Hazel which is a dope milkshake place in town. They have ginormous shakes with cake and cookies on top of them.
I then headed over for the last show. It was pretty full for a Sunday. I got to talk to Vicki a bit and she was super sweet. She had some kind words for me and said she’d be in touch.
Anthony had a good set, and then I felt really good about mine. I did a good mix of material and crowd work. They really dug what I was doing. I got some huge pops, and felt the confidence to try a new joke(it didn’t work). The audience was one of the best Sunday audiences I have ever seen. I’d give this a B.
After my set I got my check and dipped out. I wasn’t feeling great, and I was just ready to kind of unwind and relax and go to bed.
9/16
After work I headed to a pretty productive therapy session. After this I headed up to The Southern.
When I got there I set everything up. I moved the tables, and set up the PA. I had it looking really good. Unfortunately Monday Night Football kind of kills comedy in this area. We didn’t have a huge crowd.
We did have a lot of my friends come out though. Mu, Bryan, Adam Chiodini, Paige, Heather, JR, Chris, Shane Hill, Sam Wood, Samantha Padgett, and plenty of others.
The show was actually pretty fun. Everybody did ok, or if they didn’t it was good for them. I went up and had a solid set. I did mostly new stuff. I had two brand new bits, and new tags for bits I did last week. So it was incredibly productive for me. I’d give it a C.
After my set I packed up and headed home. I was exhausted. I ended up not sleeping well. My dad has been weighing very heavy on my mind lately. I doesn’t seem to be getting easier. It definitely feels like it is getting worse.
I DID IT! Caught up again. I’ll be back Thursday with tomorrow’s shows. I love you laydees and baybees very much. I don’t know if anyone reads this, but if you do thank you! Thanks for supporting #cutecomedy !!! xoxo see you soon.

Gonta/fem!S/O (who is also from a rich family) getting kidnapped and held for ransom. S/O is the protective one in the situation, becaus she’s been through this numerous times already and she isn’t affected anymore.
This was interesting to write. And, not calling you out, but I’ve seen the same ask on another account, too.. Can’t remember whose. I tried not to make it too similar.
-Mod Kiyo
-
Many people would think being rich would be fun - having money to do whatever you want.
Sure, of course it had its advantages, but..
Being kidnapped? Not your cup of tea. Though, it had happened so many times, that you weren’t surprised when it happened.
You, had been ‘kidnapped’ so many times that you just.. Stopped worrying whenever it happened.
Your parents had the brilliant idea of a tracker; they spent quite a lot of money on that
Because now, your jewelry, evem clothes, had a tiny tracker implemented in them. Which was why you weren’t worried.
And since the trackers were tiny, the kidnappers never spotted them.
And thus, whenever you were kidnapped, you didn’t worry about it whatsoever.
So.. When you woke up, unable to move, of course you knew what was going on.
This time, however, someone else was right next to you.
They were fidgeting around, obviously trying to free themselves from the restraints -you noticed his were different than yours. You were in handcuffs, they were all chained up
When you looked up, you realized the reason right away.
The guy next to you was Gonta Gokuhara. For somrone the same age as you, he was about twice -thrice, perhaps- your size; much stronger than the average teenager, looked quite scary. Though, he was such a sweet guy. A gentle giant, wouldn’t hurt a fly.
You didn’t know him too well; only briefly saw him at those infamous banquets a few times.. And heard the rumours - well, his story.
That he got lost in the woods and was found a decade later, that despite being raised by wolves out there he was so gentle, that he couldn’t really understand some 'modern’ things too well.. Understandably.
It was obvious they had chains restraining him because they knew just what he was capable of.
When he saw you were awake, he turned to pook at you, visibly relieved, happy.
“Ah! (S/O)-san is awake!” He said, calming down just a bit. “Gonta will help, don’t worry!”
Your couldn’t help but smile a bit - it was true, what they said about him being a gentleman.
“Don’t worry, Gonta-kun. Could you do me a favour and stop struggling? I’ve got a plan.. Similar to every other time I got kidnapped.”
He was surprised by just how calm you were about this. And even more surprised when he heard that you’d bren kidnapped multiple times.
But he did do what you told him and stopped trying to free himself.
“(S/O)-san has been taken a lot of times? That’s bad..”
“No, not anymore. It used to be.” You leaned in to whisper in his ear before someone entered the room. “I can get us out of here.”
Whoever came in the room didn’t hear you. He was a man wearing a black suit, even held a pistol. But at this point, you knew which gun was fake and which wasn’t. This was fake.
But you didn’t speak up just yet.
“It looks like the two of you are awake.” He said, “No need for introductions – I know you two. You won’t have to know me.”
While he spoke, you weren’t paying attention. They’d made the mistake of restraining you with handcuffs
At this point, you knew how to free yourself of handcuffs within seconds. And that’s just what happened, though you hid it. Didn’t let them fall on the floor. Yet.
“See.. We will be keeping you here for as long as we have to. Your families have been informed that you two will only be freed when they pay the ransom.”
Gonta looked panicked - you turned to face him and gave him a reassuring smile, “Gonta-kun, it’s okay. We’ll be alright.”
The guy talking to you looked..stupid. He was talking to himself, now neither you nor Gonta were paying attention.
“H-Huh..? (S/O)-san’s pedant changed colour!”
That’s what caught the kidnapper’s attention.
He stopped talking and just ran over to you, grabbing the pedant and yanking it right off your neck; you heard Gonta try getting up again, but you shook your head.
“Gonta-kun, no! It’ll be okay!” You kept reassuring him.
The kidnapper threw the pedant on the floor and stomped on it, obviously shattering it.
“I know – that was a fucking tracker! I’ll kill you- Your mistake is fucking fatal.”
That was when you surprised both him and Gonta.
You stood up immediately - and, well, since you’d been taken so many times before, you’d taken up self defense classes.
You had the kidnapper on his knees, with his arms behind his back, hands above his head.
Quite funny to have him whimpering and helpless like that.
“No, no you won’t. That gun’s fake, and even if it wasn’t, you wouldn’t hurt us. You need us alive to get the ransom. Alive and untouched.”
With those words, you applied a tiny bit more pressure on his wrists, were you held him.
“Plus, I won’t let you. Just try and get up.”
He did try - but he indeed couldn’t.
Gonta was at a loss for words. “Gonta could’ve helped, (S/O)-san! But it looks like (S/O)-san doesn’t need Gonta’s help.”
You gave him a smile, keeping the man still beneath you, until you heard sirens surrounding.. Wherever this place was.
Of course the tracker had worked. It always did.
Soon, the kidnapper was taken by the policemen, and you were helping Gonta out of those chains. It was surprisingly easy to do.
You and Gonta would be taken to the police station - where your families would pick you up from.
You sat with him next to you (quite difficult, consider just how.. Large, he was).
“Uh, (S/O)-san..”
“Yes, Gonta-kun?”
He was blushing -and oh God, it was absolutely adorable
“Thank you for saving Gonta. How can Gonta repay you?”
You chuckled, about to say that he didn’t have to. But, you got an idea.
“Hm.. How about we go out sometime? Just the two of us. You know.. Hang out.”
He looked shocked; “H-Huh? (S/O)-san wants to be Gonta’s friend?!”
You nodded, a bit shocked that this great, adorable guy didn’t have many friends.
“Mhm. I’d love to!”
Gonta was very happy to hear that.
And seeing him so happy, made you happy.
