it's 2024 can we stop letting it be possible to lose Hours of game progress if you don't save often enough because the autosave only triggers at bullshit times
#like if your game has an autosave feature i expect that shit to happen every 5 minutes#you can't be like OOPS YOU DIED and last autosave was 45 MINUTES AGO. teehee! better do all that shit again!#literally why would i even think of manually saving during gameplay when your game tells me it saves my progress on its own#i see that and my brain goes ''oh so only save in critical situations or before quitting the game''#not ''save every time i take a step in case the autosave doesn't keep up''#it's basic game design stop acting like inconveniencing the player on purpose is a feature#it doesn't add difficulty to the game it adds annoyance and reasons for people to quit playing altogether#the reason older games asked you to save every 5 minutes or risk losing all your progress is because Autosave Didn't Exist#it was a technical limitation not a conscious design choice
