Thank you to the one person who added that confession executive committee was also Honeyworks because I would never have caught that without you.
#going through and being like mmmm I’ve not seen most of these things#like if some people submitted it under one name and others under another#it’s unlikely I’ll be able to tell unless someone was kind enough to put both names#me out here like oh wait ‘joker’ is the same character as this other one#so it’s like 4-5 submissions for a ship that I thought was two different ships lmao#thank god I know BNHA really well because I definitely would have no hope of anything without that knowledge#like if someone in the street was like ‘I ship All Might with Toshinori Yagi’ I’d know what that means#but like thankfully I have written like 20+ pieces of BNHA fanfic so I don’t have to be clueless on that front#anyways I’m really bad with names so if things get missed#oh well. I’m trying my best#right now I think we are at ?? 54? submissions when I find ones I missed lmao

“All Might?!” Deku took a step back when he opened the door for Toshinori who was all dressed up in a suit and tie. “What are you doing here?” “Uh…” Toshinori fixed his tie and looked behind Deku into the house. “Is your mom here?” “What?! Why would you-” Deku processed it. His mom said that she was going on a date that night… but it couldn't be… could it? “Mom!!!”
Inko quickly ran out of her room wearing a summery white dress that complimented her figure beautifully. “What is it Izuku? I'm trying to-” She paused, seeing Toshinori at the door. “Oh! Toshinori! You’re here! S-Sorry, just give me like five more minutes, I have to-” “Don't worry, Inko. I'm here early. Take all the time you need.” She gave him a soft smile. “Thank you, Toshinori. And you can come in if you would like. I shouldn't be too long.” Inko ran back to her room and Deku gave Toshinori a terrified look.
“All Might! Are you going to explain or are you just going to leave me in a puddle of confusion?!” Toshinori giggled and ruffled Deku’s hair. “Your mom and I are going on a date, Young Midoriya.” “Yeah! I figured that out a while ago! I'm just… what?? HOW?!” Toshinori giggled again and could feel his hands shaking out of nervousness. He was really about to go on a date with the cutest woman in the world. “S-See… your mom and I… we-”
“Alrighty! All done!” Inko ran out of her room clutching her bag with her hands that were clearly shaking. “Y-You,” Toshinori stood up, looking at Inko with bright red cheeks. “You look beautiful.”
“You know what?” Deku stood up, shaking his head. “I'll ask some other time. Have fun mom.” He gave his mom a kiss on the cheek and ran back to his room, leaving Inko and Toshinori alone.
Toshinori cleared his throat and bobbed his feet. “So… are you ready, Inko?” Inko grabbed Toshinori’s arm with a bright smile. “Born ready… All Might.”
Toshinori’s heart was nearly pounding out of his chest. How was someone like… him going on a date with such a lovely woman. Someone caring. Someone nice. Someone… so beautiful. Her hands were so soft and her voice was so gentle. In his entire career, he would’ve never thought he would be at this point. Retired and with the woman of his dreams. He would honestly do anything for her.
And it all started because of a coincidence meeting on the street. It was after he retired and his fight with All for One. They had met once before when trying to get the kids into dorms, but they were only meeting in a professional sense then. They were both just running some errands and ended up talking for hours. They had gone on a couple of dates after that, but nothing official. So this was technically their first. They were going out to dinner together. Finally, after weeks. Sure, they forgot to tell Izuku, but that was okay in the long run. They cared about each other and that’s all that mattered. Especially since both of them had been through a lot.
Toshinori had to come to the realization that he is no longer a hero and Inko had to watch her only son grow up to be a hero all without being with a husband to love her. They needed this. They needed each other.
---
“So, Toshinori, I'm just curious where this whole ‘All Might’ persona came from,” Inko took a sip of her wine watching Toshinori pick at his food a bit, already full. “Did you grow up in America, or were you born here in Japan?” “Oh, I was born here. I visited America when I was in college and it ended up being some of the best years of my life. The whole ‘All Might’ thing though, I really don't know. I just always wanted to be a hero. I wanted people to look at me and immediately know that they were going to be safe. Even at my intimidating seven foot figure.” Inko giggled and took a couple bites of her salad. “Right. I still can't believe you’re that tall.” Toshinori rubbed the back of his neck and gave her a nervous smile. “I-I know. It's pretty intimidating especially when I'm in this form. I'm just a huge skinny tall guy that probably scares people in grocery stores.”
Inko slid her hand across the table and grabbed Toshinori’s. “Toshi, I think you’re beautiful. I don't think you’re intimidating one bit.” Toshinori swallowed and then got all flustered, quickly pulling his hand away from Inko’s. She giggled watching his face turn a dark shade of crimson. “S-Sorry Inko… I…” “Don't apologize. Now, I want to hear more about you.”
Toshinori turned to Inko, his face regaining its original color. “What? But we talk about me all the-” “More about Toshinori, not All Might. I know all about him. Tell me about you.” She pressed her finger to his chest and he could feel the butterflies in his stomach soaring.
She was definitely the one.

All Might’s Mental Health is Declining
Toshinori Yagi wanted to be a hero, wanted to help people ever since he was a boy
and with Nana’s help, the quirkless kid got his wish.
But being a hero isn’t for the weak of heart. You’re going to fail. People are going to be hurt. And ultimately, you’ll be alone. Toshinori had to learn this quickly in his life as Nana, his mother figure, died for him at an early age.
The other person in his life, Gran Torino, trained him to the best of his abilities, but was a no nonsense, brutal teacher.
His methods were effective, but scarring, as Toshinori has been terrified of him ever sense.
He was sent to America on his own to develop his quirk, where he eventually learned to become a hero. But again, that meant work was his life, and he had no social life. Sure he was popular with the media, but as far as developing a lot of personal relationships, he wouldn’t have time for them. Plus, as typical of a hero, in order to keep everyone safe, All Might couldn’t be seen with people he was close to. He most likely kept himself busy the majority of the time to keep from being lost in his own thoughts. People need companions, it’s part of our make up. Toshinori’s surely had to have been a very lonely life.
And then All for One happened. And defeating him almost killed Toshinori, in fact, there’s no good reason he’s still alive, other than to pass on One For All, he should be dead. *Warning graphic details following*
All for One said himself (English Translation), “A wounded hero is a most frightening animal. Do you know that even now, I sometimes dream of you charging at me with your entrails strewn across the ground.” His entrails. His internal organs. All Might was gravely wounded, yet he still forced himself to fight All For One, even while the hole in his side freely leaked his own body’s contents. In the picture above, All Might kneels above All For One’s lifeless body in a pool of blood, a mixture of both their blood. AFO’s head crushed.
I cannot stress enough the mental impact of this singular event. All Might stood for absolutely NO killing. He would resolve conflict while being careful NOT to kill or even critically hurt anyone. But in this instance, Toshinori killed a man. And the way he did, crushing a man’s head with his bare hands until the skull gave way and his brains were scattered on the pavement below. For someone who believes in no killing, this was a brutal execution. One that, unfortunately, had to happen for the safety of the world, and only All Might was capable of doing it.
This alone must have severely messed with his head. While he lay in hospital, only capable of healing, AFO haunted his dreams and thoughts. He took another life, blood permanently staining his hands. And now he has to mentally pretend this never happened and act as if everything is fine to the public who hadn’t heard of this fight.
Despite the mental trauma from this, the physical trauma was worse. While he could fake the emotional lasting effects, he couldn’t hide the physical.
This injury took a lot more of him than just his mental stability. It took his stomach, a lung, most likely his spleen, and perhaps more internal organs. Living like this now means lots of medications. Supplements to make up for the lack of stomach, drugs to protect against infection, and pain medication to list a few. Something that big has to hurt like crazy. And all that scar tissue pulling while you try to fight? Torture. He’s most likely had countless corrective surgeries from the scar tissue alone, which only reopens the wound and leaves less and less skin to work with. You can see how caved in the scar is, indicating just how much of his body is missing. His destroyed respiratory system forces blood to fill the remaining lung he has left when he overexerts himself, which is all the time. He probably has to have blood tranfusions regularly to make up for the loss, as well as other injections to assist his body in running properly. There’s probably an oxygen tank by his bedside to help when he’s choking on his own blood in the middle of the night. His body wasting away until his very skin stretches like plastic wrap over nothing but bones. Muscles being eaten away in replacement of food.
But what sucks the most? The time he can be All Might is decreasing more every day. The one thing he’s wanted his whole life, to help people, is starting to become difficult to do. He has to hide his true form from the public, he doesn’t want them to fear for their lives if he can’t help anymore. Now he spends more and more time in his own mind because he can’t distract himself anymore. And what’s worse than the mental pain is the physical accompanying it.
Now BESIDES all this happening, we also have Nighteye’s betrayal. Sir, the man who was his sidekick for years, the guy he’s probably been able to grow the closest to, betrays All Might’s trust and looks into his future. And what does he see?
In six to seven years, Toshinori will meet a villain, and meet a gruesome demise. The betrayal makes him and Nighteye go separate ways, losing a friend.
Now with his declining health and the death sentence hanging over his head, Toshinori has to think about what he hoped he wouldn’t for years yet. He needs a successor. Someone to give this power to before it’s too late.
Insert Izuku.
A young, quirkless boy who just wants to help people. Sounds familiar. Izuku is an obvious choice despite everyone telling Toshinori he’s not the right fit. (Like Nighteye whom Toshinori tried to tell, but was only shot down.) So once he hands over One for All to Izuku, the problem, despite the boy destroying himself as he tries to use it and Toshinori being unsure how to help him, is that his power is decreasing even faster now. Which, of course, is to be expected, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to deal with. His time limit is drawn shorter and shorter until All for One starts to make a reappearance.
So not only did Toshinori not kill him, all the trauma he went through was for nothing, but now the world is in danger, again. And he doesn’t know if he can help them. Which means he has to involve his young ward in this mess that killed his mentor, almost killed him, and could potentially kill the boy as well.
So he tells Izuku of the origin of One for All and All for One. But he doesn’t tell the boy that by the time Izuku fights this guy, Toshinori won’t be around anymore.
He doesn’t let on how much the power is draining out of his body, and doesn’t enlighten the boy on his own upcoming death. Which unfortunately means he has to lie and give Izuku a false sense of security.
And then, All for One shows up.
And this time, All Might’s true form is exposed to the public. His weakness. Now the world knows that All Might isn’t invincible. Despite this, he’s still able to force his broken and exhausted body to beat All for One again, while using up the last of One for All, and leaving it up to Izuku.
Now he’s that quirkless boy who wants to help people again, only this time, he can’t.
Now he can’t be a hero, the one thing that’s kept him going all these years. And people on the street who don’t recognize him right away, criticize how he looks, which again, is out of his control. So he continues to hide himself in shame.
Gran Torino has told him he’s not being a proper mentor to Izuku, but the boy is already surpassing him with his schooling from other teachers. So, without heroing and mentoring, all Toshinori has left is being a teacher.
And unfortunately, Eraserhead has told him he’s also mediocre at that as well.
Then Izuku meets Sir Nighteye, and questions Toshinori about their relationship, while also questioning his own successor-ship.
Which leads to a very emotional scene of Toshinori telling Izuku exactly what happened all those years ago, as well as his death sentence that, oh by the way, is coming either this year or the next.
Toshinori is fairly emotionless while explaining this to the boy, I imagine he’s fairly disconnected with his own emotions by this point.
But seeing how upset Izuku was is enough to make him try and console the other that he won’t simply roll over and die, that he’ll go down fighting.
And THEN, he gets word that Sir Nighteye is in grave condition and most likely won’t make it through the night. Even after their falling out, Toshinori goes to his friend’s side, and the resemblance is scary.
Now he can see why Nighteye looked into his future, to see if Toshi had any chance on living. Being put in this position, he can understand. You can even hear Toshinori’s voice break (Japanese version) when he tells Sir that he needs to stay alive to allow Toshi to repent for his sins. But Nighteye can’t stay. And when facing the man who’s always been known for his smile, who can’t do it anymore, Sir says to him: “Smile. Live on, Toshinori.”
But for what?
The most recent episodes have a relatively emotionless Toshinori.
Like in today’s episode, the best he can give Izuku is a small smile, barely anything. He doesn’t even emote when he catches Hatsume’s stray baby.
He clearly still has the reflexes of a hero, but he can’t physically be one anymore. His health is too fragile. *Manga spoilers ahead*
Then there’s this scene with Aizawa.
He had long since accepted his own death, maybe even longed for it. But Izuku made him decide to try and live, even though he’s not sure how to anymore.
This poor man has been through Hell. And now he feels useless and helpless. Thank God he finally said something to Aizawa, but he needs more than just this, he needs to have a purpose again. I hope Aizawa and the others can help him find it again.

the love confession in a fight prompt no. 8 for nightmight, please?
have a great day x
Send me a number and a ship and I’ll write a drabble about Love Confessions during a fight!
You got it! I decided to write some more NightfallxVigilante All Might because they’re fun.
------------------------------------------------
Mirai was not a stalker.
He did stalk his targets for a few weeks before deciding if he should kill them, but that wasn’t the same thing, no matter what the police reports said.
His proficiency for not being noticed had increased through years of practice, making him capable of hiding in plain sight. Most people only saw a salary man in a sensible suit, not the person who was deciding if they would live until next Tuesday.
At the moment he was tailing a man named Sugawara. He had several assault and battery charges on his record, none of them stuck however. Usually Mirai wouldn’t bother with such small time offenders like him, but he had attracted too much attention after his last killing and he needed to lay low.
The most effective way to lay low would simply be to hold off on killing anyone, but Mirai didn’t exactly have anything else to do with his freetime, so there he was in a coffee shop, watching Sugawara from across the way while pretending to read a book.
Mirai had bluejacked his phone weeks ago and knew he was here for some sort of date. Sugawara had been sending messages back and forth to someone saved in his phone as simply “Construction Hottie”. The texts had been frequent and flirty, but there was yet to be any indication that he meant ill towards this potential partner.
Mirai didn’t take that to mean anything though. Sugawara had been violent towards his partners before and he didn’t have high hopes for the poor sap who had been suckered into texting with this low life to have a different fate.
“Sugawara-kun!” a familiar voice called.
Involuntarily, Mirai’s head snapped up. There, standing across the cafe was someone Mirai would have recognized anywhere. Even with his dark vigilante clothes and blue face mask, his form was unmistakable.
It was All Might, the handsome vigilante who seemed to never be far from Mirai’s mind.
“Yagi-kun,” Sugawara replied, standing up. They embraced, all laughter and smiles.
“You can just call me Toshinori, I don’t mind.”
Mirai felt his cheeks heat up with either embarrassment or rage, he wasn’t sure. He felt like he had walked in on something he was never supposed to hear or see. Toshinori Yagi, that was his name. It repeated in his head, over and over again. Toshinori Yagi. Toshinori Yagi. Toshinori...
“Toshi-kun then,”Sugawara replied.
Mirai closed his book with a slam, making the person in the booth next to him jump. The two men across the cafe didn’t notice. How dare Sugawara refer to Toshinori so informally. It wasn’t fair that someone as good and kind and handsome as Toshinori was on a date with someone so far below him.
He and Toshinori weren’t exactly friends. They weren’t exactly enemies either. Not unless it was normal for enemies to have kissed once in a heated, confused haze and then never speak about it again.
Mirai was pretty sure it wasn’t.
Thanks to the bluejack, Mirai was able to listen in to their conversation through Sugawara’s phone speaker. He was forced to listen to this oaf blab about himself through the entire date, not even noticing the fact that Toshinori barely got a word in.
By the end of it, Mirai’s coffee had gone cold and hot, bitter jealousy swirled in his gut.
He followed Sugawara with renewed dedication. It felt wrong to also be tailing Toshinori like this. There was a tenuous trust between them, something Mirai had fought tooth and nail to gain and listening in to his conversations and reading his late night texts with Sugawara felt like a betrayal of that trust.
It was probably the jealous rage that was constantly simmering in the back of his head that made Mirai get sloppy. He had followed them back to Sugawara’s apartment after another date and he sighed in relief when Toshinori refused Sugawara’s offer to come in.
From across the street he watched Toshinori emerge from the apartment building and head east. Mirai knew he should stay put and continue to monitor Sugawara, but the curiosity to see where Toshinori lived overcame his reason and he followed him.
They walked about ten blocks before Mirai realized they were just going in circles.
“Are you stalking me now?” Toshinori asked, his voice unbearably loud on the empty street.
Mirai stopped dead, staying in the shadows.
“I know you’re there, Nightfall,” Toshinori said, turning around and looking towards him.
Mirai stepped into the light of the streetlamp. “If you knew I was following you, why didn’t you say something earlier?”
Toshinori frowned. “I thought maybe you were tailing someone else.”
“I am.”
Disbelief dripped from his tone. “Oh really? Who?”
“Your boyfriend Sugawara.”
The term made Toshinori stiffen. “He’s not...we’re not like that.”
“Probably for the best, he’s a terrible person.” Mirai wished he had worn his helmet. He felt exposed standing there bare faced before Toshinori.
“Well, isn’t that the sort of people you like to follow?”
“I don’t like it,” Mirai retorted. “I do it because it’s what needs to be done.” He adjusted his glasses, obscuring his expression. “He’s got quite a rap sheet, your Sugawara. Assault, battery, even broke a man’s arm for refusing him. I know you don’t see how terrible he is because you love him, but…”
Toshinori blinked in surprise. “I don’t love him. I love you.”
The words silenced Mirai and he closed his mouth with a snap. He what? He must have misheard, there was no way that Toshinori would ever say those words to him.
His shock must have been all over his face because Toshinori laughed. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you so shocked before.”
“You just said some shocking things,” Mirai countered. His cheeks were hot and he prayed Toshinori couldn’t see it in the dim lighting. “So why are you going on dates with Sugawara if you...feel that way?”
“Same reason you’re stalking him. Well, maybe not the same reason. I don’t plan on killing him. His ex asked me to gather evidence to help him build a case against him. ”
“I see.”
They stood in awkward silence for a long moment before Toshinori stepped forward. Mirai was tall, but Toshinori still stood head and shoulders above him and he felt his breath catch as he looked up into his piercing blue eyes.
“Are you really not going to say it back?” Toshinori asked, sounding hurt. “I mean if you don’t feel the same…”
Mirai leaned forward and pressed his lips to Toshinori’s, making him gasp a little in surprise. Some part of Mirai knew it was risky to kiss him like this, standing on the street in full view of anyone who might walk by, but the taste of his lips and the feeling of his tongue on the roof of Mirai’s mouth was enough to silence that concern.
They parted at last, desperate gasps escaping their swollen lips. “Of course I feel the same,” Mirai replied.

____________________________
The rumble that shakes the street sends you tumbling. Your face screws up in displeasure as you push yourself off the ground. Of course, your day off would be tainted by what you assume to be a villain attack. It’s just your fucking luck. You never take a day off, but when you do, something always has to happen. Employees set off the fire alarm and you have to rush to work, you lose your keys, there’s a villain attack. Every. Fucking. Time.
Blocking the sun with your hand, you squint your eyes. Plumes of dust and smoke rise into the air, and they’re way too close for comfort. Pedestrians are scrambling around you, in an attempt to get out of harm’s way.
Trying to ignore the feelings of annoyance that are beginning to prickle up, you can’t help but wonder when a hero was going to show up. They seem to be everywhere these days except when you need one. You shake your head, trying to figure out where to go. Your apartment, and Sweet Bean, are on the other side of the chaos.
The crowd around you shifts and swarms, and as it slightly breaks, and you still. In the epicenter of the destruction, is a small girl. And she’s crying.
Without a second thought, you push your way through the crowd. Towards her.
____________________________
Toshinori gently pushes the door to the Sweet Bean cafe open. He’s greeted with a small squeal, causing his face to heat up. His eyes land on the girl from last time. Aiko, he recalls. A large and scary grin covers her face. He glances around, uncomfortable with the weight of her gaze.
“She’s not here.” Toshinori freezes. He reluctantly turns his attention towards Aiko, and she leans forward on the counter, propping her head in her hands. He’s squirming uncomfortably under her attention, which she clearly enjoys.
“Are you gonna deny it? That you’re looking for her,” she sings playfully. His face twists unpleasantly as he struggles to come up with a response, the heat on his face intensifying.
“Aiko, leave him alone.” Suga comes out from the kitchen and gently hits the back of her head; she purses her lips in protest but stays quiet. Suga rolls his eyes before turning to Toshinori.
“Boss took the day off. But if you want something, Aiko would be happy to help you.” He glares down at Aiko, who smiles innocently at him before she turns back to Toshinori with an apologetic smile.
“That’s alright. Thank you.” Toshinori awkwardly waves goodbye, trying to ignore Aiko’s knowing grin.
When Toshinori steps back into the sun, his heart drops a little. He had gotten used to seeing you there. He blinks lazily when a wave of energy pushes past him. He squints in the direction it came from, and his heart sinks even farther.
Oh, no it's okay. I’ll be fine. I live just a few blocks that way.
Your words haunt him, as adrenaline pumps through him. If there’s even a chance you’re near whatever caused that, he has to be there fast.
____________________________
To your surprise, there’s still not a hero around as you get closer. Some first responders are there, but no one who knows what to do, but when you look at her your stomach drops.
She’s twisting in on herself, in what looks to be a painful way. A blood-curdling screech darts through the air, and it tugs at your heart painfully. She needs help. Your eyes are on the girl in the middle of all the chaos, ignoring the way the officers are telling you to get back. You swear you can see tears. She’s in pain.
You move without thinking, and you swear you hear someone calling your name, but if there’s a chance you can help her, you have to do something. Her head snaps in your direction as you get closer, and you slow from a run to a steady walk, keeping your palms raised in an act of peace.
“You’re in pain. I can help you,” you call out, trying to sound as calm and empathetic as possible. As you slowly get closer, you realize her face is warping in and out, as if she’s not completely here. She makes no move to attack you, but the hair on your arms raise when you feel the waves of sheer power rolling off her.
“It hurts.” She chokes the words out, and your heart aches for her. There are some quirks that are too strong when they first manifest, so strong that the child can’t control it. This girl must have been by herself when they first emerged.
“I know it’s scary. I’m gonna help you, okay?” You murmur.
The sound of a loud impact, not too far from you, jerks you back to reality. In your peripheral, you see a familiar red, white, and blue costume. One that anyone would recognize from anywhere. All Might. But this isn’t serious enough for him to be here. You furrow your brows, but smile at the girl in what you hope is a kind and reassuring way.
You turn to the Pro Hero and make a gesture for him to stay back. He cocks his head to the side, but he makes no move forward. Your stomach flips, and a large part of you wonders why he’s listening to you. There’s probably protocol for scenarios like this. Regrets clouds your mind, as you think to yourself you could very well be making the situation worse. Swallowing past the lump in your throat, you turn back to the girl. Her already faded face is twisted in pain and terror.
“What’s your name, sweetheart?” You ask in an attempt to distract her. Distant, wild eyes connect with yours. They feel almost more animal than human.
“Makoto!” Her voice is fragile and strained.
“What a pretty name,” you coo. “How old are you, Makoto?” You lift your hands slowly to her temples. She answers you in a small voice, but she tenses at your hands, and for half a second you think this may be it. You may get hit with a wave of energy and cease to exist while All Might watches from just behind you. But you close your eyes and will the warmth of your quirk to your fingers. The noise around you settles, and you slowly open your eyes to reevaluate the situation.
Your hands are slightly glowing, and Makoto’s eyes are shut. She looks...more real now. She looks whole and stable. She leans her face into your hands as she breathes heavily.
An officer slowly approaches you, asking for Makoto to come with her. She stiffens in between your arms, so you rush to get your words out. “They’re gonna help you, okay? Everything is going to be okay.” She slowly pulls away from you and nods. She doesn’t resist when the officer guides her away.
You let out a breath you didn’t realize you were holding. That was stupid. That was so fucking stupid. Your nose scrunches up at the thought of Aiko and Suga yelling at you.
“That was very dangerous,” an upbeat voice rumbles. Your stomach drops as you freeze. You slowly turn your head, so you’re facing the voice. All Might was talking to you. The Symbol of Peace was talking to you. Because you had acted without thinking; things could’ve gone horribly wrong. You wince and rub the back of your neck.
“I know. I just thought if I could help, I should.” He hums in response, and you flush as you crane your head back to look at his face.
“That was very brave of you. But you could’ve gotten hurt. It’s best to leave situations like this up to the professionals who are trained.” Your face heats up with embarrassment, but you nod in agreement. There’s something familiar about him. It may be the way his hair falls behind him or the sharp angles of his face. You brush the feeling away. He’s the number one hero, of course, he’s familiar.
“Ma’am,” a voice interrupts your thoughts. “I’m gonna need you to get checked out, and then we’re going to have to take you back to the station.” You blink blankly at All Might before turning and nodding at the officer who has a light grip on your forearm.

“You were very lucky no one got hurt. There’s a protocol for handling situations like this.” The officer briefing you drones on and on, and your head hangs in shame. You had acted rashly, yes, but you had to at least try to help that girl.
“All Might’s sticking his neck out for you.” Your ears perk up at the hero’s name. “Normally, there are consequences for using your quirk like that. But you’re getting off with just a warning.” Your mouth opens slightly, but no words come out. Why would All Might do that? Before you’re able to ask, the officer is already holding the door open for you to exit.
When you leave the officer’s office, Toshinori is leaning against the wall outside the door, waiting for you. He’s clutching two to-go cups from Sweet Bean, and you feel your heart leap up into your throat. Ignoring the butterflies that are awakening within you, you smile and offer him a shy wave. His lips pull into a lazy grin, and he offers you one of the cups. With a sigh you accept it, and he pushes himself off the wall. The two of you walk silently, and when the cool evening breeze lightly caresses your face, and you deflate a little. There goes your free day.
“Long day?” He murmurs. You let out a small laugh.
“You could say that. How’d you know I was here?” He flushes at your question and looks away.
“I stopped Sweet Bean to see you, and Aiko said it was your day off. I saw the chaos in the distance and remembered that you lived that way, so I headed over. I also have a friend who is a detective.”
“Ah, then you saw me act pretty stupid yet again, huh?” The number of times you had embarrassed yourself in front of Toshinori just keeps growing.
“Actually, I thought you were brave.” He tilts his head up in thought. “You wanted to help that girl no matter the cost. You acted without thinking about it. That’s the kind of thing heroes do.” Affection blooms deep inside you, and you're overcome with an overwhelming desire to kiss him. You flush at the thought and veer away from it.
“Well, All Might was right. I should’ve waited. Don’t know why he got me out of trouble though.” A quick glance tells you that Toshinori is uncomfortable with the topic at best. “Anyways, you were coming to see me at Sweet Bean?” You truly don’t mean to sound so teasing, but it’s hard to feel embarrassed or try to stop yourself when he blushes so easily.
“I ended up going back to get you something, and Aiko thought tea would be best. She said it’s your usual blend.” You bring the cup to your lips, trying to ignore the intensity of Toshinori’s gaze. You take a sip, and you freeze. Your nose scrunches up and you furrow your brows. Toshinori’s eyes widen, and he inhales sharply at your face.
“What’s wrong? Are you okay? Was it too hot? I could’ve sworn the temperature would’ve been okay by now.” You shake your head, before taking another small sip.
This was not your usual blend. You can practically hear Aiko’s laughter, and you purse your lips. Realizing Toshinori is still panicking next to you, you sigh and shake your head.
“It’s not my usual,” you hum. His head dips down in disbelief, and a tired grin sprawls out on his face.
“She got the type of tea wrong? That’s what’s wrong?”
“I own a cafe. I take drinks very seriously, Toshi.” His cheeks bloom a deep red at the use of the nickname, and you decide then and there, that it’s one of your favorite colors, one that you’d do anything to see. Cocking your head to the side, you look up at him fondly.
You don’t really know him, you realize, but you know you really do like him. His head mirrors yours, and as a small smile tugs at the corner of your lips, you turn to keep walking.
“Also, Aiko knows what I usually get. This was premeditated. But it’s a chamomile blend, so she wants me to relax,” you trail off before beginning to walk slowly, leaving Toshinori behind. Behind you, he looks at your retreating form and takes a steadying breath.
“Would you mind if I walked you home?” You turn to look at him over your shoulder, as he rubs the back of his head sheepishly. Something warm and syrupy travels through your system; you nod, biting your lip to contain the giggle that’s brewing in your chest.
The two of you talk about everything and anything. He tells you about his students, you tell him ridiculous stories about Suga and Aiko, and you spend the entire time trying to ignore the way his arm brushes up against yours.
Before you know it, you’re standing in front of your apartment complex. Your nose scrunches in displeasure; you wish you lived farther away. Straightening your shoulders, you turn to face Toshinori.
“Thanks for walking me home.” His head dips to the side, and a grin tugs at his sharp features.
“Anytime.”
You make no move to go inside, wanting to stay with him as long as possible.
Your hand moves without your control and you lightly tug at one of the strands of hair that frames his face. His face heats up with the familiar red that makes the pit of your stomach warm. His large hand comes up to wrap around yours, and your heart stutters. They engulf yours in a way that leaves you feeling small. You try not to stare. You really make an effort, but they’re warm and rough in a way that sends a chill down your spine.
He gently squeezes your hand before pulling it away from his hair, but he doesn’t let go. Instead, he readjusts so he’s able to stroke the back of your hand with his thumb. Your thoughts feel slow and sticky. You glance at your hands and take a shaky breath, trying to reorient yourself. When you look up again, the arousal that’s been growing in you finally makes itself explicitly known.
“Would you like to come in, for a coffee?” you murmur. His eyelids are heavy, and the grip on your hand tightens. The silence that follows is syrupy and heavy but you don’t care. You want him to come inside and cannot bring yourself to regret asking.
“You need to get some rest, and I have to be up early tomorrow for work.” His voice is thick and warm, and it sounds more like he’s trying to convince himself to not go inside with you. You nod slowly, your blood feeling like honey.
You reluctantly pull your hand away from his, trying not to think about the lust that’s pooling within you. You open the door to your building, but you turn around one last time.
“Goodnight, Toshi.”
“Goodnight, Y/N.”
It’s not until you're leaning against the door to your apartment that you let out the breath you’ve been holding.
____________________________
When Toshinori gets home, he doesn’t waste any time stripping down and laying on his bed. His erection is painfully hard; guilt and shame flood his system. He’d almost gone inside with you. You had gone through this terrible experience and all he could think about was burying himself between your thighs.
He tugs at his cock, a choked moan clawing itself out of his throat. Visions of you tugging on his hair and wrapping your legs around his waist filled his mind. Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck.
You’d meet his thrusts, pussy clenching tightly around him, all while pretty little moans left your lips. He pumps his cock rapidly at the thought, his hips lifting to meet his own eager hand.
He wonders what you’re doing right now. Were your fingers buried in you, chasing relief like he is? He can see your face twisting in pleasure as your hips bucks. Would you be stroking your clit, wishing it was him instead? Wishing it were his fingers inside you?
He strokes himself harshly, unforgiving. You wouldn’t touch him like that. He knows you wouldn’t touch him like this. At least, not at first. But he’s not treating this like it’s for pleasure. He’s trying to make this end as quickly as possible. The guilt and satisfaction of seeing your face contort in pleasure is almost unbearable.
He can practically see you writhing against his pillows. How you’d arch up into him, trying to get closer. You’d squirm and cant your hips against him. And you’d clench against him so tightly, chanting his name like a prayer.
When thick ropes of cum finally blanket his thighs and his lower abdomen, he exhales shakily. His face feels too warm. The air is too thick. Everything is too much right now. This was going to be a problem. It’s going to rear it’s ugly head whenever he sees you now. He doesn’t know if he can be around you without wanting more now.

Do you any other Hawks fic ideas you'd like to write? Or is Hawks-sensei all you've got on your mind right now?
Wyv. You know not what you ask. I have to put them in categories, Wyv. Categories.
Kid!Hawks:
-Kid!Hawks growing up with the LOV (both as a permanent thing and various ridiculous drabbles) This involves Unwilling Big Brother Shigaraki, scarily willing Big SisterToga who knows all the coolest knife tricks, Best Uncle Twice who sometimes on his real good days doubles as temporary Dad, the Dad who teaches you how to hot wire cars and laugh people’s money straight out of their wallets Compress, mother-henning can-not-leave-you-alone-for-one-god-damn-minute Spinner, True Mom Kurogiri, Big Sis Mag who seems to be the only actual one that realizes that children need to sleep at some point for the love of god, extremely confused but horrifically soft Dabi who may or may not eventually turn his whole life around because of this feathered idiot that needs someone to make sure he lives a happy life whether it be a permanent shrinking or not. Oh, and Machia. The best Mountain Monster Dog brother (?) a boy could ask for.
-Kid!Hawks with UA (staff edition) also both in temporary and permanent circumstances. Temporary is already in progress. Permanent? Oh boy, permanent world. They raise him within UA so as to keep him from the Commission. Hawks often sits in on their classes with coloring books, picture books, or just to sit there and watch them. He is very smart. He picks up on things, but mostly he just likes being around all the staff. He picks a new person to sleep with every week because some of them have really shitty sleep schedules and even as a kid he knows they would feel bad keeping him up, thus forcing them to go to bed through good-person guilt so he tragets the sleepiest looking people for the week (hint: Aizawa gets picked a lot, and even if he’s not sleep deprived Hawks would pick him because he adores his grumpy cat Dad). Thirteen does crafts with him all the time. She watches every kid show and gets really into it with him. Hawks and Mic make the meals and they sing the entire time. They sing together throughout the day. Hawks will chirp out a line of notes and out of nowhere Hizashi will burst in to sing the lyrics. Midnight reads him bedtime stories cause her voices are the best. She does his nails and lets him do hers. He practices on the UA students to surprise her with new designs (the students fall over their own feet to offer to be his test subject). Snipe does little challenges with him. Things that, while technically helping him get used to controlling his quirk, are more fun than anything else because Hawks enjoys using his feathers in games. Hawks dresses up like a cowboy for an entire month, quoting old western movies and driving everyone but a very proud Snipe up the wall. Hound Dog and Hawks go on walks together ALL THE TIME. They explore the woods around UA and Hound Dog tells Cementoss to change up the geography every once in a while so they have something new to explore. He teaches Hawks how to go camping and Hawks fricken adores him and is always on his shoulders just kicking his feet or napping in Hound Dogs hair. Ectoplasm is Hawks favorite person to play any kind of tag based game because the others are too easy to catch with his feathers. But with Ectoplasm and all his clones? hawks goes nuts. Ectoplasm cried once when Hawks asked Aizawa for peg legs for Halloween and when someone asks him if he wants to be a pirate he says no because he wants to be a super cool hero like Ecto for Halloween. No one will be as cool as him. Hawks fricken loves Vlad. Like, adores him. Whenever Vlad is in the room Hawks will just go hang off his shoulders, or tuck under his arms with a book to read, or just lean against him. He has a little stuffed bull dog that has Vlad’s exact resting bitch face and carries it with him every time he leaves the dorm because he feels safer with it. He goes to Vlad when he’s injured because Vlad just takes care of it, gives him a hug, and doesn’t tell him to be more careful. Just asks if Hawks learned something and moves on. Hawks and Nezu are penpals. They see eachother every single day, but they are penpals. Hawks grows up with the most beautiful calligraphy handwriting because he keeps trying to out-do Nezu’s. He absolutely tattles on every single teacher in these letters, giving Nezu years worth of blackmail. Hawks thinks Nezu is a stuffed animal until he is fourteen because Nezu never fesses up. He just thinks the staff is even cooler for letting a stuffed animal run the place. He only ever cries around Nezu.
-Kid!Hawks UA(Student edition): So many. There’s lines I’ve written where they’re still in school when Hawks is kidified. When they’re already pros. In Canon, in Hawks-sensei, I even a small blurb sentence of Deku running a preschool that Hawks gets put into in an AU with quirks still. I can’t even... there’s too many students, cause I’d do all 1-A and 1-B. My favorite one to randomly wake up in a panick and write about though is the one where it’s Hawks-sensei verse based and Kid!Hawks gets taken in by the Monoma family. Rui and Eiko are older and Monoma is a pro-hero by then. The pure amount of fluff, sass, and Hawks spoiling that will happen. Big Brother Rui and Bigger Sister Eiko. I think about this one a lot.
-I’m currently (slowly but progressing) writing a gift for @saltwater-sweets where Kid!Hawks is taken in by the Uraraka family. Like, he’s not even shrunk in this one. Uraraka’s newlywed parents were involved in the accident he first saved people in and they found him before the Commission. They realized his homelife situation and opened their home to him and now he is Uraraka’s big brother and that one line I threw out there? About him being a global superpower in household moving? Teaming up with Uraraka for that? Yeah.
-Kid!League of Villains and adult Hawks. Yeah, you heard me. They all get shrunk instead of him. And he can’t just... turn them in. They’re kids. They haven’t done any of the crimes their older counterparts have. And if it’s a permanent thing? They stay kids? Then he has a chance to really, truly save them. To give them the happy lives stolen from them. The Commission doesn’t like that. So Hawks takes them and runs. Dabi can be an adult too, I guess, if that’s the ship or something, but I just really wanna write Kid!LOV and Dad!Hawks.
-Kid!Aizawa. Dad!Hawks. Same concept. Beautiful dream. Need I say more.
-Kid!Hawks, Best Jeanist
-Kid!Hawks Gang Orca
-Kid!Hawks RUMI!!
Vigilante Hawks:
- Raven was born and I dived down that rabbit hole so fast I went back in time. Raven. But from a way earlier age. Those guys mugging Hawks when he was fifteen? The spark. Hawks stayed on the streets, he never went back, and he learned some things. He got some freedom, learned some shit, and realized that hero society was pretty fucked up. Shigaraki starts the LOV up and realizes there’s this whole underground community he was never aware of that Hawks has been building for years. It’s great.
-Hawks was never found by the Commission so he was never ‘Hawks’. His Dad raised him as a criminal but Hawks, with his little heart of gold, took every chance he could to make something good out of the bad deeds. Then he got old enough and he took full control. You ever seen the Levi OVA’s of Attack on Titan? Where he’s walking down the stairs and you realize every single person there is part of a huge ass gang of awesome with Levi at the head? That. THAT.
-Hawks loses his shit in Canon and goes completely AWOL. full Feral. He sees the problems, and he is prepared to do whatever it takes get rid of them. Whatever it takes.
AU Hawks
-Horribly injured, recently retired at the ripe old age of 23, and looking for something to save him from depression. Hawks meets Todoroki Fuyumi who gets him a job at her school. This one makes my brain happy.
-Takami Keigo and Todoroki Natsuo meet in college, graduate together, join the same hospital, and open one as partners as soon as they can. Ship or no ship, they go through their entire lives together. (I just... I really like the Todoroki sibs, okay?)
-Takami Keigo was born a lot earlier. So much, earlier, in fact that he is classmates with this overly optimistic ball of light named Yagi Toshinori and the grumpy ball of flame Todoroki Enji. Big Three anyone? Also, everyone needs a dumb smart birb to keep them sane. Hawks loves his friends, and he’ll kick anyone’s ass that tries to hurt them be it physically, mentally, or emotionally. Also, he meets Nana.
-I LOVE THE IMAGINARY KAMAKIRI FAMILY DYNAMIC OKAY?! literally anything with Hawks involved in their lives, okay?! I did not expect to spiral so hard when I made up Hideo and his relationship with Kamakiri but my god did I spiral! I just really love them!
-I’m a sucker for the classics. Tattoo/flower. Coffee shop. College. Roommates. Love.
- (she made me write this) a story surrounding the amazing love story of my sister and Iida Tenya with Aizawa crashes the wedding even though he was invited and Mirio is her maid of honor, with Eri as the ring bearer, and All Might is the flower girl. Twice is the officiator. Uraraka releases a flock of fake pigeons (not real ones cause they don’t deserve that). Oh, and everyone else is there too, I guess. Except for Mineta. Cause he’s in jail.
Right now, at this very moment, I can not for the life of me think of any others but I KNOW there’s at least seven more that I just can’t remember because my brain is work dead. Wyv. @wyvernspirit do you see what you’ve opened here? Close the box! Close it before it’s too late! There is always more! I am never without MORE ideas!

BELLUM. aaaaaalrighty, so here’s a brief description of all the current MHA / BNHA OCs that I’m interested in adding to the blog here ! at the end will be a link to the poll where I’d love for you to vote on who you’d most like to see ! <3
( some of them are more fleshed out than others bc I’ve been writing them in private RPs with some friends, and I’ve posted more about them on my MHA / BNHA writing blog @quirklove, but I think I’m confident with them enough now to put them out there for everyone else to write with ! )
RENATA TRAVÉS-YAGI / LA FANTASMA : Female. Quirk, “ Phase ”, allows her to phase herself through solid objects. Married to Toshinori Yagi / All Might. Renata is a former villain, though her heart was never really in it. Villainy was her family’s ‘tradition’ which they pushed her into, and the pressure made her angry enough that she actually became a decent villain, but she hated it. After meeting Toshinori in Texas during the years he was in the USA, he ended up defeating her ... then visited her in jail. From there, they spent time together, and deciding to leave her family and villainy behind, she went with him when he came back to Japan. She’s very fond of Mirio given that they have similar abilities, and is a financial supporter of Keiho Rusuban’s Villain & Vigilante Reformation Initiative.
KEIHO RUSUBAN / WATCHWOMAN : Female. Quirk, “Red Alert”, which allows her to see the level of danger a person is in and where it’s coming from. Love interest, Tomura Shigaraki. As a hero she’s focused heavily on rescue, but she also founded the Villain & Vigilante Reformation Initiative, which aims to help those people who so often slip through the cracks. She runs a tight ship, offering social programs to those who wish to change as well as children who are coming from bad situations with Quirks that nobody else knows how to handle. She has a soft heart that she keeps on full display, but she doesn’t open it up completely for just anyone.
KYUSHI UKEIRE : Female. Quirk, “Breakneck”, which allows her to slow down time around her, making it appear as though she’s moving at lightning speed. Love interest, Kai Chisaki / Overhaul. A prison doctor at Tartarus, Kyushi used to run with an incredibly bad crowd when she lived on the streets. After being betrayed by them and spending time in jail herself, she was rescued by a hero who took her in and helped her straighten her life out. Since then, despite sympathizing with some villains, having been in a place where she easily could have become one, she doesn’t suffer cruelty lightly. She never refuses to treat someone because of the atrocities they’ve committed, but ... she has no problem calling them out if they need to cut the shit.
CRYSTAL COOL : Female. Quirk, “Mohsaic”, which allows her to transform her skin into various crystals, gems, and minerals. Love interest, Eijiro Kirishima / Red Riot. Her Quirk is unsuitable for combat because turning her skin into harder gems to fight or block causes the effect to deepen, damaging whichever organs are underneath. She has a basic license from the USA where she was born, allowing her to use her Quirk in self-defense, but she can’t really be a hero. Instead, since her Quirk manifested, she’s become a model and actress, at the insistence of her mother. She's had trouble with her body image because of the pressure in the modeling industry, and it’s not the life she would have chosen for herself even though she enjoys it. As she becomes more confident after meeting Eijiro, she branches out into becoming a singer, which is something she’s always wanted to chase.
KIYOMERU HIRETSUNA : Male. Quirk, “Detox”, which allows him to use the ‘freckles’ present on his skin to leech impurities from the air and leave it cleaner. No set love interest, but anyone who will take him. Kiyomeru is very shy and quiet, and has problems with controlling his Quirk. He’s perpetually sick because he can’t ‘turn it off’ and is constantly absorbing microbes, pollen, and pollution from the air. His body is able to break it down without serious threats killing him like they would a normal person, but it leaves him suffering their other nonfatal effects. His days are spent renting himself out as an air purifier to anyone who needs that service, and other than that, he lives a pretty normal life. He’s not exactly a hero, but if he could learn to control his Quirk, it would enable him to transfer anything he absorbs to someone else. Should he ever become able to do that, he would be an incredibly useful tool for quiet, untraceable murder.
AISURU KOTSUZUI / SPINAL TAP : Female. Quirk, “Ossify”, which allows her to pull out her bones and use them as weapons. Love interest, Chizome Akaguro / Stain. Aisuru has a kind heart and believes that villains, vigilantes, and heroes should be working with each other to change society instead of fighting each other. She is a partner with the Villain & Vigilante Reformation Initiative, a move which has earned her some negative buzz within the community. It’s not something she pays attention to, just the same as she doesn’t pay attention to those who deem her Quirk ‘creepy’ or ‘villainous’. She is a fierce protector who knows her own worth, stands for justice and peace, and will never stop trying to convince everyone, heroes, villains, vigilantes, and civilians, that they are all stronger together than they are apart.
there are other MHA OCs I may post a poll about at a later time, but once I’ve gotten their appearance drawn and have their characters more fleshed out !
aaaaaand here’s the poll to help a sister out !! <3
#is that a fucking gremlin ?? ( OOC. )#(( PLEASE LOVE MY BABIES TELL ME WHO I SHOULD ADD AND WHO UR INTERESTED IN !!! ))

Red Lantern Alighting
In the dark, there was loss.
In ages so often made dark and grim by the selfishness and vainglory of those who measured personal achievement in mountains of the dead, there were plenty who looked up from the bottom of the heap, and found something there.
Jackboots ground down on their faces, and the warlords who destroyed their lives cared nothing for the suffering they wrought. Tyrants, fascists, conquerors and world-wreckers all simply did their thing, and like incredibly inattentive farmers, did not realize what they were sowing.
The people ground down on the bottom learned well what it meant to suffer. To lose everything. And in the pits, in the slave arenas and at the end of an overseer’s whip, they learned the shape of hate.
And one day, on so many worlds stained with suffering, made into something filthy by despair and torment, a red star bloomed in the sky.
And those who suffered the most, burning on the inside, found a clawed hand extended to them.
And in his claws, there was a ring offered out to them.
“Make them pay.”
-------
It was a common rumor, perhaps to pass the time, but there was enough of an edge to it to suggest some panic that remained in the news, all the same:
Ten thousand worlds are burning.
To many across the places touched by the Eunoianet, the magical web of communications, stories, and media that connected the Fleet worlds and kept their culture alive, there was some mild interest. Plenty took the news literally, and organized fire brigade fleets to put the fires out.
Blaster, an Endowed Autobot with a keen interest in xenosociology particularly as related to culture and music, thought something was off the moment she first heard the specific phrasing, and its connections to conflicts on a chain of interstellar empires.
“Ten thousands worlds,” as she told her team, “Is a kenning.” Her team gave her politely incomprehensible looks. With a look of delight, one of her daughters (a minibot named Rewind) eagerly leaned out of her seat, visor shining bright, faceplate wiggling excitedly.
Wicke, possibly one of Blaster’s closest friends in the theoretical engineering sub-sets, opened her mouth to say that she knew what it meant. Blaster shook her head repeatedly. ‘Let Rewind have her moment!’
Rewind spoke up. Like many minibots, she was human-sized; about seven feet tall, but so incredibly thick that she was almost that wide too (at least at the chest-mounted Energon tanks and her impressively massive hips), her heavily plated exterior indicating her preferred alt mode of a tanky attack drone. As she began to speak, her present siblings (both of them beastformers; a moody red robot rhino named Ramhorn and a yellow leonine tracker called Steeljaw) rolled their optics. “Did you all know? A kenning! Is a common term for a culture-specific metaphor, usually tied to folklore. Typically it is a shorthand for a more complicated concept, you see!”
Wicke, shifting about and balancing her gargantuan breasts onto legs easily thick enough to be bust-supporting shelves, nodded. “And what might this kenning refer to, dear?”
The other two of this particular mission winced at Rewind went into a needlessly and painful convoluted explanation with too much time spent on unnecessary asides on cultural context. Bismuth, rolled her temporary optics and tried to nap. A tricky thing considering that to save on space, she had installed her Gem into a fembot shell that at least matched her amazonian, outrageously curvy true form, but one of the things it couldn’t do was sleep. Smaller even than Rewind was arguably the most famous of them all; Toshinori Yagi, better known by his professional name All Might; once a massive tower of muscle and masculine charm, his self-sacrificing job as a Fleet champion had left him an emaciated wreck, his powers too dangerous to access often. Nonetheless, his experience made him a highly skilled mech pilot to channel his spirit. He was doing his best to pretend to be listening but was clearly suffering.
The gist of the lecture, in any case, was this: ‘a thousand worlds is slang, in this little intersection between a dozen or so little empires, for all known worlds’.
“So,” Toshinori said gravely after some thought. “It’s a great deal more serious than even ten thousand individual worlds!”
Bismuth’s fembot shell shrugged its expansive shoulders. “Honestly, you sure it’s even appropriate for us to get involved? I mean, I’m all for intervening, but the people in this area…” Her shell’s emoticon-displaying face cycled through a number of uncomfortable expressions. “They’re not gonna be welcoming or appreciate us.”
“The power structure could use a shake-up,” Steeljaw observed, his voice cultured, deliberately refined. This was the voice of a cat-bot who could somehow hold a cup with his pinky-claw out. It was a strange thing to see from someone who had grown up in a society where setting yourself on fire was considered a good icebreaker. “They’re… well, I shouldn’t SAY they are dreadful tyrants, by and by, but alas…”
“Can we kick their ass?” Ramhorn said hopefully. “Please tell me, we get to do some tyrant toppling!”
They looked at Blaster, to see what her vote might be. She thought about it and shrugged. “Personally I’d rather do what we can if trouble comes to us; I won’t say no to rescue, even if the folks around here yell at us. But actively dismantling their empire, however deserved, is really not a good idea. We’d need to work things out better before we decide if we have the RIGHT to do that or not.”
The ship approached the first world to investigate, and Toshinori’s eyes widened, the modded dark patches around them accentuating his shock. “I… do not believe we will have the opportunity! Look!”
They looked out.
The flames were bright on the windows, even from super-orbit.
They had seen continents, entire landmasses, on fire before.
They hadn’t often seen the landmasses in question rearranged to spell out an extremely crude message.
“...Ah,” Wicke said, wincing. “I suppose the worlds being on fire was not entirely a metaphor, then.”
The ship found stable orbit, relatively safe from most sensors, and with their on-board alchemizers and raw materials, it was a simple matter to build an observation station to live in and wait to come to some kind of a conclusion. If there was a problem with the Fleet’s organization, Blaster mused, it was that waiting for every participating citizen to come to some kind of a consensus took forever, even with cybernetic telepathic stations to work it out. At least with this small group, it was easier to work it out.
Rewind and Blaster were considered the best at stealth to go down and put the fires out; Wicke was undoubtedly the most powerful but her raw power made her inefficient at HIDING her presence, and they weren’t sure if they were ready for confrontation. Bismuth waiting for the all clear (and once she got it, she alchemized terraforming rainfall that put the fires out in days), and Toshinori had many sterling qualities to make him such a paragon, they put his face in the Big Book of How To Hero. Holding back or being stealthy was NOT one of those traits.
Before Bismuth got to work, Rewind gave her report to the others:
“Most strange, so very strange indeed? Did you know, it is very strange for there to be no one left on the planet?”
“The place WAS on fire,” Bismuth had said. Sourly, she had added, “Maybe they were attacking each other… this whole region is a mess of conquerors trying to kill each other. Yeerks looking for better hosts to enslave, elven supremacists, orks that kill everything just to get a better fight out of it…”
Rewind nodded. “Yes, certainly! But, there were NO bodies! Not on the scale that we ought to have seen!” She had paused, looking uncomfortable. “At the very least, those bodies were not killed by the fire.”
Wicke frowned. “What do you mean?”
Rewind was equipped with recording abilities, in her role as a scout. She did warn them first, though, that it would be graphic; Wicke often was employed as a coroner to study the bodies of metanatural encounters, Bismuth was a vetern of many revolutions, and Toshinori had been a hero for a very long time. All of them were acquainted with brutality.
Even so, they were taken aback by the horrors on the screen. “Oh… Arceus’ peg…” Wicke said softly, as they showed them ashen streets and bodies that were by then mostly… pulled apart. Heads were mounted on spikes, and were the only recognizable bit. Everything else had been torn apart, burned so badly and then pulverized into a meaty pulp to coat buildings and streets.
The Fleet was a rough place, and its heroes tended towards extreme fury and ferocity as a rule; nonetheless, this was extreme, even by the standards Wicke knew. “I thought you said fire hadn’t killed them?”
“Analysis indicates that they WERE burned to death, but not by the fires we see. It was a different sort of burning inconsistent with what’s ravaging the planets.
Bismuth had examined several other such photos. She was a ferocious fighter, even by the standards of her Dinobot partners (long since married to them, by this point), but even the greatest savagery of Grimlock or the combined fury of Volcanicus had a point; the shock was intended to terrify the enemy into retreat, or encourage allies to greater morale. This felt more like just randomized lashing out.
Toshinori didn’t much like what he was looking at. “Infighting, perhaps? This is just so… excessive, though. Why would they kill each other so brutally?”
“Rivalries? Combat doctrine?” Ramhorn suggested.
“Or maybe whoever killed them was really angry,” Bismuth suggested. “I’ve done stuff that… okay, not as bad as THIS but… when you’ve been ground done long enough, you’d be surprised what happens when you let that monster off its leash.”
Toshinori considered this. His eyes widened. “Oh…! Rewind, Blaster! You said there were no bodies found, yes?”
“Indeed, sir!” Rewind said. “No bodies besides these!”
“No ashes, then?”
“None that would fit the profile of the bodies, or any traces of incinerated corpses on the scale of an entire population.”
Toshinori looked thoughtful. “Perhaps there are no survivors because they have already been evacuated from the world.”
Bismuth brightened up. “Oh! That’d be a relief.” Perhaps thinking along the same lines as whatever was prompting Toshinori, she compared the visible mounted heads, stabbed on display by whoever had been angry enough to burn the whole planet down, and compared them with all Fleet records of multiversally-wanted villains.
Most of them matched someone on the lists, with the ones who weren’t at least suspected of awful crimes. Bismuth did not much dwell on the evil deeds attached to them; it was sickening to behold, but it was enough to know that very evil men and women had died this day. “Check this out. I compared the skulls to records of some serious bad guys, and they’re all… yeah, the multiverse is better off without them.”
Toshinori nodded. “As I suspected.”
Steeljaw was several times the size of Toshinori (who was tall for a human, but puny by Fleet women standards), but he gave him an adoring look nonetheless. “Sir, do you perhaps have an idea?”
Toshinori looked thoughtful. “Let us at least consider the idea that the downtrodden of this world may have had their opportunity to rise up, at least.”
“You think so?” Wicke said, raising an eyebrow. “This much destruction is rather excessive.”
“People who have suffered terribly, all their lives, often do not have much reason to hold back once they have the opportunity to strike!”
“True enough.” Wicke had turned, and other matters called their attention.
Bismuth’s terraformers conjured forth enough rain, with a mild connection to the Elemental Plane of Water, to put out the fires and render the planet suitable for all of them to at least walk on. Several days onwards, they landed to investigate properly.
As they suspected, there was no life on the planet anywhere. Blaster had flown across the planet in her preferred aerial form with a massive armory of sensory drones, and there was no signs of life; no organic presence, no living movement, no hints of the electromagnetic activity that marked the presence of synthetic life forms. And the ashes of burned things did not account for all the inhabitants being dead, either.
Several days, the mystery continued to deepen as they continued the search on other worlds, and the pattern on the first repeated itself. Uncannily the same, at that.
And it WAS a pattern; Wicke was certain.
Above them, far in the sky, a red star seemed to appear; the figure within watched them dispassionately, weighing their hearts.
They shone bright and good. But, he judged, they did not have the burning anger he sought out.
He contemplated the Gem, however. There was the spark of fury there…. Perhaps later, then.
The red light flew away, leaving the battleground behind.
And in the meantime, unaware of this, Blaster’s team continued to search. Unexpectedly, they found something interesting on one of the cities that hadn’t quite been exploded.
Blaster was over sixty feet tall, her minibot offspring incorporated into her body in cassette forms and channeling their power to her, so she could achieve a far greater size and curve level than normal, and she had to be careful not to let her waist-level bustline demolish things worse. Slowly she leaned forward, studying something on the wall. “I found something!”
Bismuth was in her true form now that she had room to grow, and she stood over a hundred and twenty feet, not even a trickle of her full power being used. SHe wasn’t just an amazon, she was a gigantic gray-blue beauty, her multi-colored dreadlocks shining bright, her gem core just barely visible in the cleavage of two massive breasts with lower slopes extending past her mighty thighs. Power crackled in her hard light body, and she was cheerfully refusing to reign it in. (“This much awesome DESERVES to be on display!” she had boasted, and kissed her biceps.) “Whatcha got there, Blast?”
Toshinori approached. While he did have his own powers, they were so strong as to be a serious threat to his emaciated body, and he preferred to channel them through powered exoskeleton frames; in this case, he operated a mech slightly too large to be considered power armor, but small enough to operate on a human scale, which seemed to be the standard size on this world. It looked like a brightly colored egg, with powerful limbs to channel his energies through and punch things, and a colorful aura of energy created a luminous V-shape above him from the back.
Its sensors relayed it to him. Toshinori studied it. “Graffiti, or perhaps a calling card.”
Wicke, standing at a very far distance from everyone else in case she suddenly needed to grow to fight (and would thus need a LOT of space; she could exceed planetary size without even putting in effort), linked up to Toshinori’s mech to see it for herself. “It IS more recent. I think this was left as a message.”
It was all red against the slag; a bright cherry-red color that would have been friendly if not for it being carved into the collected skulls of, apparently, the most cruel and hateful tyrants in the entire system. It had been burned into them, in fact, possibly by whatever had set the planets on fire, and then painted over.
It looked a little bit, then, like a round circle. Two vertical lines were set on either side, with additional zags moving outwards over that. There was a short message, written in an unfamiliar script similar to the Daedric alphabet. “A curious sign,” Rewind communed to Blaster. “It resembles that of the Green Lantern Order.”
“Green Lanterns?” Blaster said aloud.
Toshinori shifted. “Green Lanterns, did you say?” He looked at the sign. Bismuth and Wicke were running a translation cipher, comparing the letters to the most likely solutions. “They were an ancient order of heroes! They predated the Cataclysm by many eons; I suspect the last of them perished trying to fight that disaster, though they left behind relics and lore.” He patted his chest proudly. “My heroic predecessor, One For All, supposedly refined the power I carry with Green Lantern secrets!”
“So perhaps whoever did this was evoking their legacy?” Blaster said. Well, Ramhorn asked, and she relayed it.
Toshinori considered it. “I think that is possible, but it would be an odd thing. The symbol is different; the Green Lantern sigil was a, well, a lantern, with horizontal lines above and below.” He pointed out another thing: two circles inside the sign, at angles. “Nothing like that there. And it was green, of course. Not… well, red.”
Bismuth glanced aside. “It does look like a lantern, though.”
“Yes,” Blaster said thoughtfully, surrounded by charred landscape, burned by the rage of those suffering for so long. “A red lantern.”
“Got it!” Wicke said triumphantly. “The script originates from Beforus! A curious thing; It hasn’t been spoken since Beforus.was lost; it is similar to various forms that have derived from it since then, but… oh, just a digression, not that important.”
Rewind perked up, eager to hear more, but Blaster was in a hurry. “So why Beforus? It’s not anywhere near here, and these worlds didn’t have a significant troll population.”
“Yes. That is the difficult part. And the language is fairly obscure; there are a few figures who survived Beforus and gained the ability to avoid aging who would still speak it, but I can’t imagine what they would be doing here.”
The Condesce, Blaster thought. The Dolorosa, mother of vampires. The Grand Highblood. The Blue Arrow and executioner of the degenerate. The Psiionic, sailor of the stars. And the others, the founders of modern troll-kind and preservationists of their culture; most were within the Fleet, and all of them had at least spent some time with it, in the past. Most were accounted for.
But not at all.
Bismuth frowned as the translation software ran. “The symbol thing is a bit wonky; someone chipped away a few bits here and there. See?”
“Yes,” Toshinori said. “It looks a bit like like an incomplete circle, then. I wonder if it was sending a message?”
Blaster leaned in. “And with those little circles inside, it kind of looks like the astrological sign for Cancer, doesn’t it?”
“Ah, it does!”
Blaster chuckled. “Now that’s obscure, what does that even-”
Oh. OH.
Bright red colored. Mutant red.
A sign that looked like what trolls called the Iron Manacles, the Crab Claws.
And Beforan script, as would be remembered by someone who had actually lived through the fall of Beforus.
And now, she realized, she had seen this level of brutal destructiveness, this unfettered and passionate rage.
She kept it to herself for now. “Is that translation ready?”
“Yes,” said Wicke. She cleared her throat, and spoke aloud. “Bear in mind, this is quite a rough translation, and the software likes poetic meter, but nonetheless, this should get the spirit across.”
Wicke translated thusly:
“With blood and rage of crimson red,
“Passed on by those long dead.
“Together with our righteous hate,
“We will burn them all.
“No one else will share our fate.”
Wicke finished. “And it is signed… I think it translates as the Anointed. Of… the Red Lantern Corps? I don’t suppose you know anyone by that term.”
“None that fit the situation,” Toshinori said. Bismuth said much the same.
“Kankri Vantas the first.”
Blaster said this heavily, with mounting shock.
The name called to mind a fussy and passive-aggressively angry young troll, a bit older than the likes of Terezi and her generation. “Uh, are you sure you have the right guy?” Bismuth said. “Kankri, you said? Chubby, really pretty? Has a really bad case of pent-up anger he needs to deal with?”
“Not him,” Bismuth said. “The other one.”
“What other one, I don’t- oh.” Bismuth’s eyes widened. “Oh.”
“The Sufferer.” Toshinori said, horrified. “He’s here!?”
“Or he was. It fits his… preference for rising up. But on a bigger scale. And of course, the Anointed is what Beforan religious practices named him. He’s never liked being called the Sufferer or the Signless.”
There was silence, then, for a time.
It was not bad news, exactly. But it was certainly concerning.
The Signless, the Suffferer or whatever you might call him, had come here. He had… slaughtered the worst of these worlds, and had done something with everyone else. The wording indicated numbers; the ‘we’ and all’. Perhaps… he had been recruiting?
For what?
They stared at the sign of a red lantern, shaped to be like the sign of suffering among trolls; an icon of enduring the unspeakable, a sign for those fighting to make a kinder world even if you did it on a tide of blood.
Kankri Vantas of Beforus was the kindest of his people. A living prophet to some, handing down law and covenant to mortals, fulfilling ancient prophecies and setting people free. He was a just man, a good man.
And he was also someone who had waged wars so bloody that even the Condesce, a woman no stranger to cruelty and ferocity, had been afraid of his savagery.
“Let’s get back up and upload our findings to the Eunoianet,” Blaster suggested. “We need to figure out what to do from here. And someone give the word to Karkat Vantas that I need to have a talk with him,” she said wearily.
“We’ve found his ancestor.”
-----
(It should be noted that some elements of this fic aren’t exactly in chronlogical order.
Yes, the Signless is the leader of the Red Lanterns here, rather than Atrocitus. As it is, they are the only extant Lanterns, but the others will soon arise, more likely than not. This much is certain!
However, I’ve planned for Signless’ Red Lanterns to predate the Fleet, at least as a fully functional organization. He may either have been making it during his initial time with the Fleet, or at some point, the proto-Fleet’s founding families discovered relics that the Signless was inspired to create the first Red Power Battery and rings from; it could be that he’s only recently made them fully practical and is expanding his Corps’ reach.
They are intended as heroes; merciless, angry and destructive, but they are good guys all the same. Their job is to make the monsters fuckin’ BURN. They are not antagonists, but the Fleet does not yet know what to make of them!)

Toshinori and Nana and One for All
So I??? Invented a backstory for All Might, how he grew up, developed his ideals, met Nana and turned into the hero we all know and love. It's like, 100% made up but I adhered to canon events as best I could. I'm so stoked to hear more about Nana, Torino and young Toshi but until then, here's my dumb thoughts
- Toshinori Yagi was born in the United States, as American as Apple Pie. I personally am liking him being from the American Mid-west, I'm thinking like Kansas (like Clark Kent). I want him to be from a decently sized city but still with that Heartland feel. Toshinori is half Japanese on his father's side (hence his surname, Yagi) but takes after his American mother more with his blond hair and blue eyes. Despite the name and some Asian features, he's not involved with his culture at all. I'm playing with the idea that Toshinori wasn't his birth name growing up in American. Not sure yet but I'm liking the idea of a similar sounding name that people in Japan had problems pronouncing so they just started calling him Toshi which stuck. Once he was more settled in Japan, he changed it to Toshinori. Still working on that.
- Anyway, Toshinori had a good, nice American childhood with loving if maybe distant parents. He grew up on a small farm with his parents, which he both loved and hated because well farm but also he enjoyed the atmosphere and freedom. I see him as being a good, smiley kid with a strong sense of right and wrong. The hero situation is different back when he was a kid, less structured and more like vigilantism. I feel like Toshi would like the idea of heroes as a kid but it's never a big passion. The organized hero biz is still in it's infancy so it's not as big a deal. He, like Izuku, receives trouble for his quirklessness but it's not a big issue for him, he's ok with it as it's a little more common. Anyway, he's happy until, suddenly and tragically, he's orphaned at a young age maybe like 8
- Yeah, typical hero origin. He's got no other family and is shipped off to a city orphanage that just isn't cutting it for him. He takes to the streets, making his own way and learning how to survive on his own. But Toshinori has a heart of gold, he's always helping out others street kids, defending them from bullies, giving out his meager supplies. It's here he really sees how weak and defenseless he is without a quirk and works twice as hard to compensate. He is angry about what happened to him, feeling disillusioned about the state of the world and wanting to better it but he never lets it dim his inner goodness. Despite being a good kid, he becomes bitter about his situation and the so called heroes who aren't doing anything to help these kids. He hates the state of the world but wonders what a quirkless orphan like him can do.
- Years pass and Toshi is now like 10-11 when his life changes forever. Like another quirkless boy will do in the future, there's an incident (I'm feeling a fire in the abandoned building Toshi and his street kids have been squatting in?) where Toshinori rushes in without thinking while cops and heroes stand outside and make no moves to help for some reason. He's trying to save these kids and it seems they'll all die right there when a woman bursts in and tells them it's alright because she is here. She saves all of the kids and smiles down with admiration at the awestruck blond boy. Toshi hasn't liked heroes for a while, but after his first meeting with Nana he is amazed. He's not the only one, Nana saw so much raw potential in Toshinori. When she hears of his situation she can't leave him be. She's a mother as well as a hero and she's already a little smitten with a smart-ass street kid with a heart of gold. She offers to train him and he accepts. She vaguely thinks he might be a candidate for One for All but, at this stage, she's not thinking of a successor.
- Nana is native Japanese but she's a travelling hero. She believes a hero is supposed to be more than someone who punches bad guys, they should be someone who smiles and makes the world a happier place. Despite her incredibly power, she's not much of a fighter. She'd much rather rescue and inspire than exchange blows as she's such an open pacifist. She loves her husband as they work together to make the world a better place. She returns home frequently to see her husband and child and they have a good relationship despite her being gone so much. Also for some reason I hc her husband as a quirkless hero because I do. It's during one of these trips she finds Toshinori and basically adopts him.
- She and Toshi travel for a few months during this time they grow incredibly close. He calls her master but it's clear to everyone they're developing a mother/son bond. Her family and friends are taken aback that she's taken this reckless, not-powered kid under her wing. They all ask if she intends to give him One for All and she laughs it off that she's just helping Toshi out. Toshi himself, while very respectful of Nana, is a little bit of a delinquent. He's used to being completely independent and hasn't had the best education since being on the streets, he can be rude and surly, getting into fights with people he think are in the wrong and generally being kind of a brat. Nana mostly lets him work his issues out but she does stop him when he's gone too far or is in danger.
- After travelling a bit of the US and Europe, Nana gets the news that her husband has died in battle with All for One trying to get to her. She is devastated and tells Toshi she needs to return to Japan and probably stay there for a while, Toshi agrees to go with her. Once home, she puts her child into foster care out of desire to protect them. It nearly breaks her but one thing that holds her together is Toshi. Having him there, with his spirit and big heart, keeps her going. She feels incredibly guilty, as if she's trading one child for another. For the first time she properly considers Toshi as an heir for OFA which she'd kind of ignored out of desire to protect him from that fate. But now she feels she can't justify keeping him around (since she gave up her child to "protect them") unless she's planning on passing her power. She's torn but decides to tell Toshi about OFA, he's surprised but takes to it. He agrees to take the power when the time comes, she delays the transfer as she's not "ready to retire" but also to try and give him more time in case he changes his mind. She knows she's sentencing him to a hard life of brutal fights, that'll most likely kill him.
- Toshi is enrolled in Japanese Middle School while his training increases to prepare him for OFA. It's during this time he meets Gran Torino who is initially very antagonistic towards Toshi and thinks he isn't worthy. Toshi has trouble adjusting to Japanese life, not to mention not knowing the language and culture. He gets into lots of fights and really gains a perspective on how the world is. He comes up with the idea that the world needs a hero to serve as a pillar, an example that heroes and citizens can rally behind. Hearing this, Torino begins to change his mind on Toshi and starts working more with Nana to train him. Like his friend, he begins to develop a soft spot for the cheeky American. Nana meanwhile has put some distance between herself and Toshi, trying to be more of the mentor than the mother. She doesn't deserve to have another chance with a child and, besides, it'll only hurt more when he takes OFA.
- He graduates middle school after about a year. He has a bit of record and not the best grades but he finally has a clear vision of what he wants to be as a hero and has adjusted to living in Japan. Nana wants him to go to UA, the best hero school in the country. Toshi and Torino think it's time to pass on OFA so he get into the hero class and begin working towards his dream. Nana is still unhappy about putting this boy she cares for deeply in that kind of danger (since AFO is still out there waiting for her) and proclaims he's not ready yet. He's admitted to the UA General Department on Nana's recommendation, since his grades weren't the best. This puts him at odds with a lot of the other students, especially once it gets out that he's a quirkless student aiming for the hero department.
- Nana isn't quite a teacher at UA but works out of the school to do her hero work but she stops travelling and operates solely in Japan. She and Torino continue to train Toshi hard in both fighting and smarts and he becomes quite the force to reckoned with. He doesn't have a lot of friends, due to his intense, slightly abrasive personality but he still has Nana and Torino and that's enough. He does become friends with Naomasa Tsukauchi who remains a lifelong friend and grows up to be a detective. As his first term at UA concludes, he begins to wonder if Nana will ever give him OFA. He begins to doubt himself, doubt all the praise and assurances Nana has given him. He believes she doesn't think he's worthy but really she's not ready to put him in danger. This slowly starts to put a wedge in their relationship.
- All for One starts to move again and Nana is out for blood. This man killed her husband and made her give up her biological child. She tries to keep Toshi out of it and search for AFO on her own. This upsets Toshi who, again is feeling worthless and like Nana doesn't think he's good enough. This builds up until finally everything explodes out, they're both yelling and screaming and nothing really gets resolved because neither is willing to open up about what's really bothering them (Toshi and his insecurities, Nana and her protectiveness). The fight has upset Nana and it's during this time she finds AFO who approaches her seeing how off kilter she is. A huge fight ensues and Nana takes serious hits. AFO breaks her with his powers and with his words, breaking her will slowly but surely. She fights valiantly, trying to stay alive long enough to get back to the others and apologize and pass on OFA. But AFO is trying to end her now, knowing she hasn't passed on her quirk yet. He mortally wounds her and walks away knowing she doesn't have much time left.
- Toshi and Torino hear the commotion of this fight and know Nana has to be involved. Toshi, against Torino's warnings, rushes in trying to find Nana. He is so concerned for his mentor and angry that their last words had been an argument. He comes and finds her barely alive in the wreckage. He's trying to help, crying and doing all she can to save her. She's too wounded to say the things she wants to say, instead she uses her dwindling strength to try and put her blood into his mouth. Toshi is too upset at the time note the significance of the action when she dies shortly afterwards. Torino comes across Toshi crying over his mentor's body.
- They take away Nana's body and bury her in a private ceremony. She wasn't a well known hero at all, partially because she travelled so much and also because she wanted to keep a low profile. It's only later does Torino consider if Nana had been able to pass on OFA, but it's unclear if Toshi has actually swallowed enough of her blood. Toshi falls into a depression having lost someone he had been immensely close to, he takes a leave of absence from school and seems lost. It's only when he activates OFA on accident that he realizes that his teacher and his dream aren't gone yet. He's still broken up over her death, always will be, but if he stops now then her death and her faith in him will be wasted. He and Torino train hard for the next few months and come next term, he's easily able to register for the hero course. Torino becomes a teacher and trains the hell out of Toshi, he's fired for being too tough but by that point Toshi has immense control of his power and can move forward on his own.
- So Toshi was taken in by Nana around 10-11, travelled then came to Japan around 12, went through Japanese middle school and started at UA as a General student around 13-14. Nana died/passed OFA onto him around 15 or so
- To most people, All Might just came out of nowhere. UA seems to heavily emphasize the hero classes with not a lot of attention on the other sections. I feel like our Toshi would have been rather infamous in the General Department (maybe even going under a different name) but none of the other sections really knew about him so they didn't make the connection to the troublemaking, quirkless General student to the strong, powerful prodigy. Once he rose through the ranks in UA, he really developed his hero persona. A lot of his personality is an act, but not all. He does genuinely care for people and wants to save everyone but he puts on a big, blustery show to make people smile and reigns in his more reckless and ideological impulses in order to try and set a good example. He'll mostly deny it, but much of All Might's personality is faked with only the core elements truly belonging to Toshi.
- Toshinori decides to use all of his experiences to become the kind of hero he wants to see in the world: he thinks of his American upbringing, he thinks of the anger he felt at indifferent heroes only in it for the money and power, he thinks of how sad he was at the loss of so many people and how important a life is, he thinks about how the world needs a symbol to look up to, he thinks of Torino's tough love training that made him strong, he thinks of how Nana thought it was so important to smile and present a strong but reassuring front to the world. He chooses the name All Might because he swears to protect the people of the world with "All of his Might". He puts on a bright costume and an even brighter smile and he makes his debut and swears that he will achieve his goal for Nana and he will avenge her murder if it's the last thing he does. At this time, AFO does not know that Toshi has OFA (and he doesn't learn until much Toshi has grown in power and is able to deal a devastating blow to AFO)
- Years and years later, after many tragedies and triumphs, Toshi runs across a quirkless boy who loves heroes but doesn't have the power to be one himself. He smiles at the boy's spirit, at his astounding amount of compassion and perseverance, and offers his power to him. He has no way of knowing that, many years ago, Nana had looked at him with the same loving eyes. He doesn't quite understand that the pride and warmth he feels for Izuku is close to the feelings that Nana once held for him. Only when he furthers his training, and his bond, with Izuku does he start to properly understand his mentor and why she did what she did. It makes her seem close to him again and that alone is worth everything he has endured. He still hasn't told Izuku because he doesn't want to scare the boy with all that death talk and Toshi is very guarded and not one to open up on something so very personal. Maybe someday he'll tell his student about his wonderful teacher and how she made him into a hero.
#boku no hero academia#yagi toshinori#nana shimura#bnha headcanon#I just... completed invented an entire backstory for Toshinori and Nana#it's probably going to be 300% wrong but I kind of like it?#I'm intrigued by the parallels of Nana/Toshi/Nana's child and Toshi/Izuku/Nana's grandson#in how Nana in a way chose Toshi over her child#just how Toshi chooses Izuku over freaky hand guy#I also like the idea of Toshi developing a strong familial relationship with Nana#one that's not really acknowledged because she's still grieving her family#Toshi doesn't quite get how much she loved him until he starts feeling the same love for Izuku#Plus you'll never pull American Toshi from me#He was totally American and experienced immense culture shock in Japan#still vaguely playing with the idea that he had a more American first name#but was nicknamed Toshinori cause the Japanese couldn't pronounce his given name#and it stuck#He stayed in japan cause he lived there for so long it had become home#anyway this is getting long#for a completely fictional backstory for two fictional characters
