A/N: Here it finally is guys! Sorry, it took so long. I needed some mental health days and real-world responsibilities started catching up with me. Writing style is a little bit different in this one. Regular, spoken words, whether in English or Xhosa will be italicized. Anything spoken in Haitian Creole will be italicized and in red lettering. Anything italicized and bolded is y/n's thoughts. Translations are in the text. Okay, enjoy <3
“Nisale kakuhle zinkosi zenu (Goodbye, your majesties.)” You bow and exit, leaving the Queens in their despair.
Your legs were moving on their own. Your brain was yelling at them to stop, your heart begging you to turn back. The tears that poured blurred your vision.
They’ll come for me. Any second now. The lab door will swing open and Shuri and Riri will be there, on their knees, begging my forgiveness.
The door gets further and further away, remaining sealed.
They will come for me. Riri will come running, apologizing for her temper. She’ll say ‘I’m sorry, ma’ with her arms wrapped tight around me. ‘I don’t know how I could have said those things to you’ she’ll weep.
Your steps echo the empty halls.
They’ll come. Shuri will come. She’ll hold my hand gently and remind me of the first time she told me she loved me. She’ll say it over and over again, fearing I’ll grow sick of hearing it, but I never will.
You finally reach your shared room. Alone. And the sob releases, an ungodly sound coming from your melodic voice.
They didn’t come.
Removing your kimoyo beads felt so foreign, so wrong. Your brown wrist was barren for the first time in years. The third finger upon your left hand lacked the beautiful jewel that adorned it day after day. Now that it was time to take off the earrings, you almost couldn’t bring yourself to do so. You hands felt weighed down by shackles as they rose, approaching the tech in your ears sliuggishly.
They fell in your hands heavily, like a large, ugly weight. Standing was too hard to do. Walking towards the door was even harder. Finally leaving was near impossible.
The rushing waters of the River Tribe and sway in the tall grass felt like home. It was home. It had been far too long since you’d been back, your barren feet guiding you to the place you grew up. Your shoes had been ditched long ago, the need to feel the ground, the dirt, the grass, the mud, having grown too strong to ignore.
How were you to explain why you’d returned? I am Queen no more. Shuri and Riri do not want me any longer. I’ve lost my wives.
None of it sounded right. It wasn’t right; you weren’t yet ready to admit it.
“Y/n? Intombi yam (My girl), what are you doing home?”
Your mother barely gave you time to step through the door, bags in tow. “Molo nakuwe, umama (Hello to you too, Mama). Can I not come to visit my mother?” You wouldn’t tell her yet, unable to face the disappointment it would bring forth.
“You could, if you did so often. What are you doing home? Why do you have luggage with you? Where are my other girls? Did you not bring Shuri and Riri?”
Her questions were overwhelming as they spewed from her lips. She barely took a breath between each one, interrogating you intensely.
“I am home because I want to see my mom. I have luggage because I planned to stay a while. Your other girls-” The words shattered your already broken heart, forming a lump in your throat. Swallow it. Ignore it. You are stronger than this. Be strong for Mama. “Your girls are stuck in the lab with work. I did not bring them.”
She was no fool, your mother. She always could read you like a book and this time was no different. But she didn’t push. Mama just nodded and grabbed your suitcase and your arm, dragging you both indoors.
“It is good to see you, sthandwa. I’d started to think you’d forgotten about your aging mother.”
Ever the dramatic. “Umama, you’ve barely cracked. You look younger than me.”
The flattery blushes her cheeks and the hug she pulls you into almost prompt your tears again.
Before you can pull away, a knock at the door raps, hard and fast.
Dark locs and just as dark eyes come into view when your mother welcomes the guest in. “Nakia? Usisi, wenzantoni apha? (Sister, what are you doing here)?”
The long-time friend ignores your question as she greets your mama. “Umama, ndikukhumbule! (Mother, I have missed you!)”
Your mother falls into the girl’s charm. “Nakia, my dear! It has been years! I have missed you so much more. You used to be over here every single day, but then you girls grow up and forget about an old woman.”
Nakia grabs her hand and squeezes tight. “I could never forget you, umama.” When she turns towards you, her expression changes altogether. The happiness is gone, replaced with sadness. “Sisi, can we talk?”
It’s a command more than a question; she’s giving you no choice. A pathetic nod is all you can muster as Nakia releases umama’s hand and follows you out the back door. You’re barely two steps away when she grabs your arm and pulls you to face her. “Kwenzeke ntoni (What has happened)?” she whispers, knowing mama was probably close by, listening.
“Ingaba uthetha ukuthini (What do you mean)?” You retaliate, unable to look into her eyes. The ladybug on the blade of grass beneath you is particularly interesting.
Nakia’s sigh is impatient, “I mean,” she starts, switching languages. “Your wife calling a meeting amongst me, Okoye, and a few Dora. Your other wife breaking down in the lab crying to her knees, and you, nowhere to be found.”
Riri was crying? Shuri gathered the Dora Milaje? “Did you attend?”
“Attend what?”
“The meeting,” you hiss.
Your oldest friend scoffs. “I am here, aren’t I. No, I did not attend the meeting. I came to check on you, to figure out what was going on.”
Sadness regains your figure. “How did you know I was here?”
“Where else would you be? Trouble in paradise, sisi?”
“Paradise is a paradox, Nakia.”
Silence washes over the two of you, until your dear friend breaks it.“What happened, sisi?” she repeats.
A beat passes and the story pours out of you like word vomit, as do the tears. Nakia strokes your arm, hoping to comfort your cries, but it does very little.
“You do not deserve to be treated like that, my friend.” she whispers as your voice finally fades.
Chants in the distance cut off your words. “The Dora,” Nakia freezes, gauging your reaction.
“No, no, no. I do not want them to find me, Nakia. I am not ready.”
She’s quick to react, the spy training flowing through her veins. “Come on, and duck down,” the girl commands, leading you through the tall grass with her head down.
It’s the same tall grass the two of you used to play in as children, back when the grass stood taller than your little bodies. You knew this field like the back of your hand. It hid many a games of hide and seek and you knew exactly where Nakia was leading you.
The broken down shack was your token hiding spot, though Nakia found you everytime. It was still there, beckoning and welcoming your presence. The thin shack seemed much bigger all those years ago, but now, you were unsure if it would conceal you both.
“We won’t fit,” you warned, bracing yourself to be caught by the chanting military growing closer.
Nakia didn’t speak, shoving you into the small space and squeezing in behind you. Her body pressed against yours as she turned to close the door, just as the Dora approached your home. From your hiding spot, you heard the knocks on the thick wooden door. You heard your mother’s voice ring out a greeting and Aneka answer, “Hello, ma’am. I am looking for y/n. Has she been here? The Queen requests her presence back home.”
“Come on, ma. Don’t say anything, please,” Your whispered begs were only loud enough for Nakia to hear and she pressed her forehead against yours. “She won’t. She won’t,” she reassured.
“My daughter? She is not here. Is everything okay?”
The sigh of relief releases from you and your best friend in unison. “Thank Bast.”
“I told you,” she whispers back.
Aneka spoke again, “If she comes by, please, notify the Dora Milaje. We will be awaiting your call.” And with that, you hear the military’s footsteps retreat as umama shuts the heavy door.
“Nakia, let’s get out of here, please.”
You don’t have to be able to see her to know she smiles into the darkness at your words. “Where to?”
“Take me to Haiti. I wish to see my Toussaint.”
“You know she is going to look for you there. What will you do when she comes?”
“You,” your hand slides between the two of you as you guide your finger to poke into her forehead. “Will hide me. Until I am ready.”
“You’re gonna piss her of, playing this game of hide and seek. You wish for me to defy my Queen?”
“I am asking you to defy your Queen, for your sister, yes. For me?”
Haiti welcomes you with open arms, just as you knew it would.
And Shuri comes and goes for many nights, just as you knew she would.
“Poukisa ou kache, sé(Why are you hiding, sister)?” Toussaint questioned, picking up on the nickname graced to you by his mother. Whenever the Royal Talon Fighter whirred over the small country, the small boy asked the same question. “Don’t you want to see my aunt? My mom says you two are married. Why are you hiding from her if she’s your wife?”
You ruffle his curls as you take shelter in the large school. “Li konplike, ti gason (It is complicated, baby boy).”
“I’m not a baby! I am Prince T’Challa, son of King T’Challa!”
Weeks pass and the routine that passes in Haiti becomes comforting. Of course, Nakia has to disrupt that comfort.
“Why are you returning home? There is no need to go there!”
“Just as you said, y/n. It is home, and I must speak with Shuri. The children at the school are growing frightened by the excessive presence of the Talon Fighter.”
“If you go, she’ll know you’ve been hiding me. They’ll know where to find me, Nakia. And you’ll be the target of their anger.”
Nakia smiles a gentle grin at you. “Shuri will not be angry. She’s the calmest out of all of you. It is Riri’s anger you should be worried about, and I can handle the small girl.”
She strides over to you before you can respond. Her long arms wrap around your body and she pulls you in close. “I will be okay. Watch Toussaint for me, have him in bed by 9. I’ll be back by then.”
9pm comes and goes. So does 10pm and 11pm, and the worry grows deep within you with each passing moment. Your feet pace the room, your heart racing. I’m getting ready to fly to Wakanda myself and drag her-
A whimper alerts you, pulling you away from your thoughts. Toussaint? But he sleeps through the night now, he shouldn’t be up- It’s not the young boy, but his mama, limping through the door.
“Nakia!” You rush up, grabbing the girl by her arm and pulling her towards the chair.
She winces in response to your fast actions. “Shh,” she shushes you. “You’ll wake Toussaint.”
You barely register her words as you examine her bruised body. Blood and tears are dried among her cheeks, deep scratches along her face begging to scab over and heal. Her arms wrapped around her waist makes you question what hides beneath them. “What happened?”
Nakia tries to sigh but it appears to hurt her too much. “Your wife has quite the mouth on her. Temper too.”
“Riri? Riri did this to you?” The smaller of your wives did have some anger issues, but to put her hands on someone, unwarranted? She wouldn’t-
The hurt girl’s eyes began to leak of tears once more and her head shook so softly, you barely noticed it. The realization hit you hard, overtaking your figure and burning your body.
“Shuri?! No, sisi,” you started, trying everything to think of a way to defend your wife. Shuri couldn’t hurt a soul, especially not one so close to her. Her childhood friend, her brother’s lover. The mother of the child she loved more than anything in this world. How could she do this?
Nakia’s silence dug into the pit of your stomach. The evidence was sitting right in front of you, broken and battered. “Come,” you spoke suddenly, rising to your feet. “Come on, we will go back, together this time. She will fix you up.”
Your friend didn’t move. “Come, Nakia,” your voice began to crack, the tears clogging your vocal cords. “Let’s go home, zanmi m (my friend),”
“I can not, y/n,”
“We can, sisi. She will not lay another finger on you, she will fix you. She will apologi-.”
“Shuri exiled me, y/n”
An insincere giggle escapes as the shock washes over you “She-she what?”
Again, Nakia goes mute.
“Sh-she does not get to do that.” The laughter dies down, turning into sobs. “She can not exile you. That is your home, mhlobo wam (my friend), that is our home.”
Silence.
“Yiza, usisi (Come, sister). Ann ale lakay ou (Let’s go home).” The languages blur as you outstretch a hand to your broken friend. She makes no move to get up.
“I-” your voice finally breaks as you fall to your knees, sobs shaking your body viciously. “I am so sorry. This is my fault. You’re hurt and it’s my fault.” your worn out figure crawls over to Nakia. You lay your head to rest in her lap as you clutch the fabric of her skirt. “ I am so sorry. Nditaxolusa (I am sorry). Mwen regret (I am sorry).”
Your best friend finally releases the grip she held around her ribs to drop a hand to your hung head. “Cwaka (Silence), y/n. I do not blame you. I expected Shuri to act as such. She’s lost the love of her life and I am hiding her. You would do the same.”
You struggled to shake your head between Nakia’s grip and the thick fabric of her garment. “I would not.”
She sat back in her seat, unable to hide the grimace her movements caused. “Well, I would. I would fight Bast himself, for taking my King from me.”
Your eyes lifted, ever so slowly. “Would you?”
She met your gaze and nodded, head weighing heavy with grief. “I would. I am left alone, with a child who would have loved to meet his father. Who looks more and more like him everyday amd I am not even lucky enough for T’Challa to visit my dreams when I lay down at night. Bast is playing the same game of hide and seek with my love that I am playing with you and your wives.”
Her words sink to the pit of your stomach, registering with you. “You must hate me,” you speak lowly. “Here I am, complaining about the lack of attention I recieve from my partners, and you don’t even have yours here to complain about.”
Nakia’s words are sincere. “I could never hate you, sisi. I love you. But I do think it’s time you return home to them. Whether you are willing to forgive or not, they need to hear it from you.”
You nod in understanding. “The school’s banquet is soon. I must return then. Come with me.”
“I have been exiled, sisi.” The words seem to cause her more pain than her wounds.
“I do not care. You will be accompanying me.”
The smallest smile possible creeps up on your dear friend, until it grows into a meaningful one. “You have always been very bossy. Being Queen suits you.”
Your own smile mirrors hers, though it drops slightly. “I will not be Queen much longer.”
“Why black, sisi? This is a fundraising event, it is supposed to be cheerful. You look as though you are attending a funeral.”
You glance at your reflection. The one-shouldered black gown kisses your figure seductively, though the bottom lays loose, swaying with your movements.
“Let us go and get this over with,” you mutter, ignoring Nakia’s words. The black would be befitting. Something would be dying tonight.
The school back in Wakanda was growing and thriving, filled to the brim with wealthy investors and excited teachers. Anxiety pooled within you and with it grew worry. You turned to Nakia, eyeing the scars adorned upon her cheeks. She spotted your gaze, “Calm yourself, friend. Your wives, they will not hurt you.”
Your hand snaked into hers and squeezed tight. “I am more concerned for you. Shuri will be far more angry at your presence than mine.”
The unbothered girl shrugged. “Your wife has a temper. She always has.” Nakia’s eyes shift, “Speaking of the Queens.”
The two girls walk in, preceded by Aneka, who is followed closely by Okoye and Ayo. The Black Panther and Iron Heart strut in, eyes locked intensely on you. Aneka’s gaze falls to your and Nakia’s hands, interlocked, and Shuri’s follows, though neither girl addresses it.
“Nakia,” Shuri greets when they approach. Nakia stays silent and Shuri continues. “I owe you an apology, for our disagreement those weeks ago. I am sorry, sisi.” To you, she switches tongues as she asks “Ikumkani wam (My queen), singathetha (can we talk)?” with an outstretched hand.
No, your heart screams, but your movements betray you. Without placing your palm in hers, you allow Her Majesty to guide you outside, where the Royal Talon Fighter awaits, with Riri in tow.
None of you speak until the ship’s doors were encapsulated, providing all the privacy in the world. When they did, it was you to break the silence. A loud slap echoes in everyone’s ears, your hand coming in contact with Riri’s cheek. Breathing hard, you voiced “I’ve been waiting to do that for weeks. Sorry, Riri, I didn’t find a bitch to give your wishes of luck to.”
Shuri stood, slightly amused until her cheek was the next to be assaulted. “And you. You’re lucky I’m not skilled with any weapons for the way you returned my Nakia to me. Her face bloody, her ribs broken. Exile?! What the hell is wrong with you?”
Though her face stung, Riri’s ears perked up. “Your Nakia?”
Shuri stared at you, her brain wondering the same.
“My Nakia,” you double down.
Riri’s anger is almost visible; it’s practically radiating off her tiny form. “Oh,” she chuckles. “Oh, alright, so that’s why it was so easy for you to up and go. You already had a backup lined up.”
“Jonga indlela othetha ngayo nam, Riri (Watch how you talk to me, Riri)!” you’re shaking, enraged, as you take a step closer to the girl. She matches your movements until you are face to face. “Translate for me, baby girl,” she seeths, the term of endearment sounding more like a tease.
Shuri steps in between your two bodies, facing you. “Yakho Nakia (Your Nakia)?” she asks again.
“Nakia yam (My Nakia). But not in the same way you were my Shuri or my Riri.”
“Were?” Shuri breathes, as if that was the only word she heard. “Were, sthandwa?”
The tears sting your eyes as they form at how soft spoken she was, how hurt she sounded. “Were, Shuri.” you can only whisper.
“Why are you speaking in past tense, y/n? We came here to apologize, baby.”
You point to the ground where you stood. “You bucking up to me just now was an apology Riri?”
Her mouth moves, but no sound comes out. A sigh releases as you step around Shuri, still blocking you from the smaller girl. You took one of her hands into both of yours. “I don’t know what’s been going on with you lately, Ri. I don’t know why you’re so angry, at me especially. I don’t know why you keep blowing me off. Maybe you’ve fallen out of love with me. But I don’t-I can’t deal with it anymore.”
Her eyes are glassy and the waterworks pour. “I-I haven’t fallen out of love with you, y/n. Baby, I adore you. I’ve just been stressed-”
“Riri, we’ve been married 4 years. You’ve been stressed before, but never like this. If the Riri I married would have ever spoken to me like this, I wouldn’t have married her.”
Her face was a mess, salty tears and salty snot mixing as they ran down her features. “Don’t say that, y/n. You don’t mean that.”
She cried even harder when you dropped her hand and moved away from her. Shuri was your next target, though she stood frozen, scared of what was to come. “And you. T’Challa would be so disappointed to see what you did to the love of his life. What you did to yours.”
Her head shook as she bit her lip so hard, the blood mixed with her saliva. “Do not. Do not speak for my brother.”
It pained you to continue, but she needed to hear it. Riri remained sobbing in the background, her cries causing your voice to raise to be heard above her. “You exiled the mother of his child. Beat on her until she had bruises, Shuri. I wish he was here to shake some sense into you. This is not his legacy, nor your mother’s. You’re acting more like N’Jadaka. Killmonger. Is that who you want to be? The type of leader you want to represent?”
Shuri stays silent, eyes filled with hurt, though her face hides it well. She steps toward you, arms reached out and hands opened to pull you in by your waist. “Come home, sthandwa. Please. Just come home.”
Her touch is home. It feels good, it feels safe. But the memories of how she treated you, of how she sat by and let Riri treat you, are too much to bear. You release her hold from you and take a step back.
“No. I have a home here no more.”
Shuri grows desperate, her hands scrambling to grab hold of yours. “Please, y/n, my love. Please, sthandwa,” she begs.
The sight breaks your heart all over again, but you stand firm. You look at your the girls one last time as you head to the exit, their tears waterfalling, triggering your own.
“So that’s it?” Riri cries. “You gone? Just like that?”
The hem of your dress floats around you, hauntingly. Your voice is but a whisper when you respond.
“Was it not you who told me to vanish?”

hello! I really enjoy your stuff and have a request if you are able to do it. can you do kenma, tsukki, daichi, bokuto, and lev falling for their new manager please? thank you so so much in advance 🥺
kenma, tsukishima, daichi, bokuto, and lev falling for their new manager
kenma:
- new manager? he couldn’t care less when yamamoto excitedly announced it to everyone
- but when you walked through the gym doors 👀 his eyes couldn’t seem to leave your face
- his eyes will follow your figure around the gym even when he’s gaming...but he’ll cover his eyes up with his hair so no one else can see that he’s looking at you
- kenma will try to make small talk with you while the other members are away so he can get to know you better without unwanted interruption
- he’ll offer to help with the “manager stuff” without making it too obvious that he likes you...but kenma wanting to do extra work? sounds suspicious
- you guys will have a secret eye contact code language...like everytime lev says something dumb, he’ll turn to look at you with a weak smile and you’ll return it back. or everytime coach makes them stay for extra practice, he’ll look at you a playfully roll his eyes, and you’ll roll your eyes back with a smile
- the only person he’ll admit to that he has feelings for you is kuroo. and you yourself of course...
tsukishima:
- tsukishima had little interest in you when you introduced yourself. notice how it’s “little interest” and not “no interest”
- he knew he loved you when you teased him back after he teased you. like damn, he never knew being teased could feel so ...good?
- he’s lowkey ashamed that he’s crushing on you? like he’ll deny his feelings by saying things like “it’s not a big deal” or “there’s no point in liking y/n anyways” in his head
- he adjusts his glasses to see you better sometimes...
- his first hint to show that he likes you is when he gave you his original glasses to keep safe until the practice game was over...yamaguchi knew that tsukki never trusts anyone with his glasses so he was skeptical as of to why tsukki would give them to you
- i don’t think he’ll ever really confess. you’ll just naturally go from friends to best friends to lovers...tsukishima has never used terminology like boyfriend or girlfriend yet but he knows you like him the way he likes you
- protective.
- endless teasing.
daichi:
- he thought you were good looking at the beginning but only started to fall for you after seeing the way you look after the members
- when you offered to buy the team pork buns, that’s when he knew you have a special mark in his heart
- he’s more subtle about his crush. he feels like it’s his responsibility to look after you as captain of karasuno
- the way he turns red every time you give the team motivational words :’) if hinata or tsukki or yams or anyone else points it out, he’ll pretend he doesn’t know what they’re talking about, “what do you mean my face is red? it’s not”
- he’ll stay after practice to help you clean up and even offer to talk you home!
- daichi is really protective over you. he gets skeptical whenever someone he doesn’t know approaches you, he’s always making sure you’ve eaten enough, always offering you his jacket on windy days, etc etc
- as for confessing...he’ll probably write you a letter and give it to you in-person. he’ll sheepishly tell you how he feels about you, “...there’s more in the letter...i wanted to make sure you know exactly how i feel but i didn’t want to stand here and say a whole speech so...” he’ll awkwardly laugh, face all red
bokuto:
- he doesn’t even try to hide it. i mean, he does but his attempts aren’t working...practically the whole school knows that this man is crushing on you
- bokuto’s real vocal about it too...randomly going down the hallway while loudly saying, “akaashi, i love y/n too much ~”
- akaashi’s just like, ._. “yes bokuto, i know...it’s the third time you’ve told me today. maybe try telling y/n instead of me”
- “y/n??? whaat i can’t just tell y/n...” he stops in his tracks and ponders for a moment
- “well, why not? if you love y/n so much, why can’t you tell him/her/them?”
- bokuto’s face lights up, “you know what, i AM gonna tell y/n how much i love him/her/them...let’s go search for y/n right now-”
- akaashi sighs, “bokuto...maybe not right now”
- he treats you with food and showers you in the most random compliments, “y/n, i like the color of your shirt” he’ll say with a giant grin and a big thumbs up
- “uhhh... thanks” you reply with a smile back
- you’ll never be caught carrying stuff with bokuto around. he’ll offer to carry your backpack, books, jacket, anything
- when the team goes on trips, he looks after you better than he looks after himself :’ and basically shows you off to other teams, making sure they know that fukurodani has the best manager in the whole world
- he just falls more in love with you each day. you surprise him everytime he sees you, just when i thought y/n couldn’t look any cuter, y/n pulls up looking like this...wow :’D
lev:
- he fell in love at first sight. like the day you were introduced to the team he was drooling all over you
- but then, he felt conflicted, is liking our manager even allowed?
- yamamoto is so determined to protect you from the wandering eyes of other guys that he overlooks the fact that lev is getting way too close with you
- he’ll go out of his way to talk to you and ask about your day, talk about the weather, how much he’s grown....
- everyday at practice, he’ll make sure you’re watching before hitting spikes...it makes him feel prideful when you watch him play
- one day lev just decides to be bold and just spill the beans. lev’s been bold lmaoo
- one time during a break, he just says, “i have something important to say...”
- kuroo just looks at him like, what do you have to say
- “i think i love y/n. i’m gonna marry y/n one day.”
- you were on the other side of the gym so you didn’t hear anything but you sure did hear yamamoto’s loud gasp. kuroo’s like ummm what-. kenma’s not even surprised. yaku’s like :0
- everyone’s just shushing lev like, “if ur gonna confess, at least properly do it” and lev’s like “what’s the proper way to do it?”
- now nekoma’s conflicted between whether to keep his crush a secret or make him confess to you...
- the rest is up for you to imagine ;)

I feel like Yamaguchi would write beautifully written love letters for Tsukishima and just like keep them locked away in a hidden box deep in his closet. Over the years, writing the letters becomes a sort of escape for Yams and he gets into the habit of writing everything he wished he could say but wasn't brave enough.
When Tsuki finds the box, it was a complete accident. He'd been helping Yams reorganize his room and decided the closet was in desperate need of the same treatment. When he'd found the unlabeled box squished between old school supplies and a pile of forgotten clothes, Tsuki opened it despite the fear of seeing something he shouldn't.
Surprise and confusion popped into Tsuki's head as the box was filled a row of unsealed envelopes that each had a different date and were seemingly full. He took out the first envelope, dated as the previous Friday.
Dear Tsuki,
I think its time I stop writing to you. You'll never see these and I don't think writing them is going to help me get over my crush on you. There are so many things I want to tell you, so many words I could use to describe how frustratingly amazing you are.
If I wasn't such a coward, I would tell you how jealous I get when you talk about Bokuto and Kuroo and that stupid group chat you three have. If I wasn't such a coward, I would demand that you stop talking to them because I know you find it funny when they flirt with you and because I know I would never have the guts to talk to you like they do. If I wasn't such a coward, I would be able to admit to your face that I am completely and utterly in love with you.
I wonder what you would say then. Would you call me lame? Scoff and roll your eyes? Would you laugh at me and hope I was just joking? There's no way you feel the same, no way you have ever looked at me as anything other than an annoying kid who followed you around until you finally accepted the inevitable friendship he offered.
I love you Tsukishima Kei, and every time I write these letters a little bit of my heart breaks. It hurts to know that even after all these years for friendship, I am too much of a coward to even try calling you by your given name to your face. It hurts to know that even after all these years, we have hardly any comfort with skinship between us. I want to hug you, even if as a friend. I want you to lean against me, put your arm around my shoulder, to hold my elbow when we're walking through a crowd because you're so tall, you'd be able to guide us through the thicket of people.
This is my last letter, not that you'll ever read this, but shoving my feelings in a box hidden amongst a purposely messy closet is slowly killing me. I don't know if I'll ever stop feeling this way but I can't keep doing this. I can't keep writing to no one and hoping my feelings will be returned.
With love, adoration, and regret,
Yamaguchi Tadashi
Tsukishima would comb through the letters, read the date, and pull out the contents of each envelope. He couldn't believe every letter was for him and he needed to prove it to himself.
Dear Tsuki,
You looked really cute with-
He didn't read the rest of the sentence before looking at a different letter.
Dear Tsukishima,
You made me mad today-
Tsukishima scoffed and opened another envelope.
Dear Tsuki,
Your blocks are getting so much-
He didn't let himself finish reading the compliment.
Dearest Kei,
Happy birthday-
That greeting brought heat to his cheeks.
My Dear Shima,
I've been trying to come up with new nicknames for you but I'm too much of a coward to even write the word "babe"-
Tsukishima shoved that last letter back in its envelope and scrambled to shove the others back in theirs. The letters themselves weren't dated and panic started to rise in his chest as he realized he couldn't remember which envelope was for each letter. It wasn't until he heard the other boy enter the room again that he decided to just stuff a letter in a random envelope and hope Yamaguchi didn't notice.
"Tsuki?" The boy called hesitantly. "You still here? I brought snacks."
"I'm in the closet," The blonde said in response, cringing at the possible double meaning. "It's a mess in here, how do you ever find any clothes?"
When Tsukishima exited the closet with a pile of clothes and hangers there was an obvious tension in Yamaguchi's shoulders.
Maybe if Tsukishima pretended he didn't see the letters he wouldn't have to confront his own feelings.

Haikyuu Among Us
Pairs: Nishinoya X Reader
Words: 2.8K
Summary: You're playing Among Us with the Karasuno gang. When you get selected to be the Imposter you're not above doing what it takes to win.
Notes: This is a completely self-indulgent fic for Nishinoya's b-day
Masterlist
"There are too many options. What do you think?”
Nishinoya’s yellow character stood motionless beside the lobby’s computer as he selected between several hats. Your animated crewmate ran circles around him while waiting for him to finish his customizations and for the rest of your friends to load into the game.
“I think the post-it is the most accurate, but the egg is the cutest.” You said mindlessly, smiling when Hinata’s bright orange character hopped off one of the benches at the top of the screen. You left Nishinoya so you could chase around Hinata instead, running circles around each other in excitement over your matching stemmed helmets.
Nishinoya grumbled as he selected the raw-egg to cover his helmet. “Should I buy a child?”
“Are you ready for that?” You asked as more people finally started loading onto the ship. “It’s a lot of responsibility and what if we both die?”
“Oh, you’re right. I’m not ready to be a single father.” Nishinoya left the computer and came to run in the circle with you and Hinata in the center of the lobby.
“You guys are disgusting,” Tsukishima’s condescending voice filtered into your headset. You rolled your eyes and glared at his black spacesuit with the devil horns. So rude.
“Let people be happy, Tsukki,” Yamaguchi said while his dark green character joined your dance circle. You couldn’t explain it, but the wet floor sign felt extremely fitting for his character.
“I’ll help you raise your child if (Y/N) dies Noya!” Hinata said brightly into your headset.
“Thanks, Shoyo!”
“No, I want to help him raise the child!” Tanaka yelled into the mic causing you to jump in your chair. You quickly opened your audio settings to turn his volume down. “I deserve it. I’ve known them the longest.”
“No way, I already called dibs!”
“Guys, you can both help me! The more parents the better!”
“There is no child.” You said, pinching the bridge of your nose,” and stop planning for me to die.”
“Sorry.” They all said in unison.
“But one day…” Hinata added ominously. You blinked at the screen confused and opened your mouth to respond before deciding it better to write that off entirely.
“All right, I’m starting the game,” Yachi said before the countdown appeared at the bottom of the screen.
“Wait, is Kageyama AFK? He hasn’t said anything.” Hinata asked, concerned.
“I just don’t want to talk to you, idiot.”
“Ouch.” Nishinoya snorted.
You muted your mic after a small giggle. The red crewmate appeared to shush everyone and you couldn’t help the wicked grin that crossed your face when ‘Imposter’ appeared in red letters afterward. Beside your character stood your partner in crime, Hinata, his name also bled red for the violence to ensue. You nodded to yourself confidently. Hinata wasn’t the best imposter, but you two were pretty in sync so you weren’t too concerned.
The airship loaded and everyone appeared around the center lunch table in cafeteria. You debated what you should do… maybe hang out with Hinata and attempt a double kill? You two could pull that off. Maybe just try some fun vent kills like you’d seen streamers do recently. Too bad Nishinoya ran over to you and began dancing beside you, clearly trying to get you to follow him to the right side of the map. It would probably be cruel if you slowly garnered his trust to use him as an alibi…
You followed him out of cafeteria. He began a wire task so you pretended to watch the bar go up until he excitedly danced beside you when he was finished, happy he’d cleared himself as an innocent crewmate-not that you hadn’t known that already. You went to fake asteroids, standing beside the chair while hoping to all that was good the green bar would move on time, when it did you leaned your forehead on your desk with a heavy sigh. Nishinoya’s character ran circles around you, likely thrilled that you were both crewmates, before continuing down the gray halls to the oxygen room. You took a moment to feel guilty before shaking it off.
While Nishinoya went to do another task in O2 you noticed Tsukishima running down the hall, alone, so you briefly separated and went to follow him. Unfortunately, Tsukishima decided to go to navigation all alone which left you with absolutely no choice. You strolled up to him and pressed the lit up ‘KILL’ button in the bottom corner of your screen. The animation had you snapping his character in half which you were a little too satisfied with-you could practically hear him raging from across town.
Once complete, his little half body flopped over and you snickered to yourself in your room. Then you remembered Nishinoya probably heading this way and you quickly self-reported the body.
“Naviga--.”
“Somebody killed Tsukki!?” Yamaguchi yelled so loud you had to lift your headphones up.
“Oh no,” Kageyama said, sarcastically. “What a loss.”
“You don’t sound upset…” Yachi pointed out.
“Should I?”
“Yes! He’s our friend and he’s dead!” Yamaguchi yelled.
“He’s not actually dead Yams.” You smirked, propping your elbow onto your desk and leaning into the palm of your hand.
“Sometimes I still hear his voice…” Nishinoya sniffled into his mic and you rolled your eyes fondly.
“Where was it?” Hinata asked.
“Navigation.” You said calmly. “Me and Nishinoya were doing tasks. I saw him go down to nav and I wanted to see if he died in the murder zone and he did.”
“Makes sense,” Nishinoya said casually. “So, who else is there that killed him?”
“Makes sense? She literally said she followed him to the murder zone.” Tanaka pointed out. You purse your lips because you did kind of say that, yeah. You should probably phrase things better.
“I saw her do asteroids though and she saw me do other tasks so we’re good.” Nishinoya scoffed at Tanaka’s accusation. “She couldn’t possibly have murdered Tsukishima if she did asteroids.”
“Okay… but what if she faked it?” Tanaka suggested.
“Are you suggesting my girlfriend would lie to me?” Noya said, gasping dramatically. “How could you dude?”
“The absolute disrespect.” You said, narrowing your eyes at Tanaka’s brown character. He knew too much.
“What if they’re both the imposter?” Yachi suggested.
“No way. If Noya was imposter half of us would be dead already.” Hinata said, with a chorus of agreeance following him.
“Well, who else is around here?” You asked.
“I’m almost there,” Kageyama said.
“Almost there or running from the crime?” You asked, excited to bring someone new into suspicion.
“Dun dun dun,” Hinata shouted.
“I don’t know if this means anything, but Hinata was at card swipe for a really long time…” Yachi added quietly.
“I just failed it like ten times, okay?” Hinata said sadly.
“Yeah, that checks out.” Kageyama snorted. “This idiot would fail a card swipe.”
“Let’s just skip, but Kageyama and (Y/N) I’m watching you,” Tanaka said.
“Good,” Kageyama responded.
The round ended with no one being ejected, thankfully, but you were a little concerned about the amount of suspicion being thrown at you. Hopefully, Hinata would keep Kageyama alive, and if the opportunity presents itself Tanaka would be your next target. Until then, you ran around the table to Nishinoya and danced beside him until he was ready to move. It was most important that Nishinoya believed you were innocent. You needed a strong ally, especially now.
As you waited patiently for him to complete another download task you kept the sabotage map open contemplatively before Hinata decided to shut off the lights for you. You tried to stay close enough to Nishinoya that he would see you in his limited visual area while you run to electrical, that is, until you saw Yamaguchi trailing behind you. Once you all entered cafeteria you pulled a quick u-turn under the cover of darkness and stabbed Yamaguchi’s poor unsuspecting crewmate body several times in the back before returning to Nishinoya and helping fix the lights. As if nothing had ever happened.
After fixing lights like the innocent, fake crewmate you were an air horn went off in your ear to signal Yamaguchi’s body being reported. You fell back in your chair with a whine before unmuting your mic.
“All right, this is good,” Tanaka said, a few muffled smacks heard as he excitedly smacked his desk.
“Disrespectful, dude. What did Yams or Yachi ever do to you?” Nishinoya asked. You raised an eyebrow because you hadn’t even noticed Yachi’s crossed off character. “They’re the two nicest people on earth.”
“Yeah, that’s sus.” You said with a smirk.
“Super sus.” Nishinoya agreed.
“What? No. I mean, I was on my way to the button because I literally watched Hinata jump into a vent when I found Yam’s body. Which means we have two pieces of evidence now.”
You cursed internally and glared at Hinata’s bright orange character. He would get caught venting.
“Dude, seriously?” Nishinoya laughed.
“What? I didn’t vent.”
“I watched you.”
“Oh yeah? How can I vent when I’m not even the imposter?” Hinata said confidently. You rolled your eyes.
“Damn, he’s got you there dude.” Nishinoya snorted. “Solid defense Shoyo.”
“Thanks, man!”
“Don’t defend him!” Tanaka yelled. “Unless you really are the second imposter!”
“What? No! Where’s your evidence? Give me proof!”
“Yeah, give him the proof!” Hinata added.
“Where were you when Yamaguchi was killed?”
“How the fuck would I know?” Nishinoya asked, astonished. “We were only in cafeteria when the lights were off and I didn’t see a body.”
“We?” Tanaka sounded deep in thought. “When the lights were off…”
“Are we just forgetting about mister thank god Tsukishima is dead?” You said, pulling attention toward Kageyama. “And last I checked only Noya and I fixed the lights.”
“Oh yeah, where were you, Kageyama?” Nishinoya asked.
“I’m where the boxes are.”
“You gotta learn the room names, man.” Hinata sighed.
“Maybe this is a tactic!” Tanaka shouted.
“Oh, and self-reporting isn’t Tanaka?” You asked.
“I don’t know. Tell me about the last round?” He responded confidently. Oh shit.
“Hang on, we gotta vote. We have like 15 seconds.” Nishinoya pointed out.
“Vote Hinata. He vented.” Tanaka said, repeatedly.
Everyone voted quickly and Nishinoya even apologized to Hinata, so you sighed before going with the majority. You had officially lost your partner. On the bright side, if you could take out Tanaka you could probably convince Nishinoya that Kageyama was the last imposter. You just had to play this last bit safe.
You waited a bit before going in the direction Tanaka had run after, but your last few rounds backfired when Nishinoya trailed after you. You needed to get away from him long enough so you could kill Tanaka without him seeing. You broke away from him for a moment and hopped into the nearest vent, jumping around until you found an area close to where you thought Tanaka had last been running around. When you popped out fear immediately shot into your heart when Kageyama’s dark blue character peaked into the top of the screen.
You weren't sure if he saw you or not, but you couldn’t risk it. He had to die.
You chased after him toward cafeteria and just barely got close enough to hit the kill button when he entered the room. You let out a breath of relief when the kill animation popped onto your screen and you watched your character repeatedly stab Kageyama in the back. You thought you were safe, so when the air horn for a meeting played you shot up in your chair. Apparently, in your tunnel vision, you hadn’t noticed Tanaka lurking nearby.
“It was Tanaka. I watched him kill Kageyama!” You shouted the moment your mic unmuted.
“Wait, what the fuck?” Nishinoya’s voice was filled with genuine confusion and you almost felt guilty. Almost. Maybe after you won.
“No. She chased him down, sawed him in half, then tossed him away like it was nothing. I saw it all.” Tanaka shouted.
“You can’t even saw people.” You rolled your eyes.
“I’m so confused,” Nishinoya whined. “It’s not Kageyama? But (Y/N) was with me like the entire game.”
“Exactly, so how could I have killed anyone?” You said excitedly. Nishinoya had no suspicion of you which was perfect. You could definitely win this.
“You were at every place where the bodies were found.” Tanaka pointed out. “She couldn’t have been with you the entire time. Like when she self-reported the first body?”
“I didn’t self-report.”
“Or when the lights went out?”
“I guess not.” Nishinoya said. You hit your desk lightly in stress. “She also wasn’t with me this whole last round...”
“Exactly!” Tanaka shouted. “And she was really adamant about putting suspicion on Kageyama.”
“Cause he was suspicious!” You threw your hands up. Since when was Tanaka so good at this game?
The line was quiet for a moment. “(Y/N) he’s making a lot of sense.”
“Okay, but he also reported Yams' body,” you countered. “Easily could’ve been a self-report there too.”
“That’s true…”
“Dude, why would I have tried so hard to get Hinata out if I was an imposter?” Tanaka asked, exasperated. “It makes no sense. It has to be her.”
“He could’ve lied about seeing Hinata vent!” You shouted, deciding to throw hail mary’s in your moment of demise.
“Why would I do that?”
“My head hurts,” Nishinoya whined. “(Y/N) I don’t know...”
“Okay. You should vote for Tanaka because...” You said while racking your brain for a solid defense. “I… love you.”
Nishinoya blew air into the mic. “Fuck dude, that’s a good defense.”
“No it’s not you--” Tanaka groaned. “Dude, for like five seconds I need you to stop being a simp and just big brain with me here.”
“But she’s saying nice things to me,” Nishinoya whined.
“Dude, c’mon you know who it is.”
Nishinoya groaned into the mic. “Okay, (Y/N) you’d never lie to me, right?”
“Never.”
“Are you imposter?”
“...I love you so much and I’m so happy you’re in my life and--”
“She just fucking admitted to it!” Tanaka screamed in the mic. “Don’t let her get into your brain. You’re better than this.”
After a brief silence, Nishinoya finally voted and you stood out of your chair when it revealed Nishinoya and you beneath Tanaka’s brown character. The mixed shouting in your headset went completely ignored by your own excitement while you celebrated, thanking Nishinoya with loving words.
“You fucking simp!” Tanaka yelled. “I can’t believe you. I trusted you!”
“I’m sorry,” Nishinoya’s groan came muffled in your ears. “I just couldn’t do it.”
“Good job (Y/N)!” Hinata cheered. “I never win as an imposter.”
“Cause you vent in front of people,” Tsukishima said.
“It was an accident! I meant to sabotage doors and I misclicked.”
“Oh well, we still got a victory.” You said proudly while spinning in your chair.
“You used me,” Nishinoya said, disappointed. “For personal gain.”
“I’m sorry, Noya,” you smirked as your characters all slowly hopped off the chairs in the main lobby. You danced around his yellow character as everyone loaded in. “I’ll make it up to you, promise.”
“Yeah, yeah.”
When the second game began, you let out a sigh of relief when the light blue confirmed you as merely a crewmate. This time you could legitimately just goof off with Nishinoya and complete tasks together while hopefully avoiding death.
After the map loaded you once again made your way to navigation together, keeping guard while the other was busy, and dancing circles every time you completed a task. When you eventually had entered the murder zone you trusted him to watch your back while you did your last task on the right side of the ship. Your first mistake apparently. You audibly gasped when the kill animation appeared on the screen. Nishinoya’s yellow character snapping your poor little crewmate’s neck in plain sight, leaving its little half body lying there for all to see. It’s poor singular bone popped out and bare.
You stared blankly at the screen while Nishinoya danced around your body for a moment, knowing that your ghost was hovering over it before he went down and hopped into the vent. You flopped back into your chair watching as Tanaka’s character ran into the room, stared at your body, and ran out. You could picture him cackling at the situation from here.
When a meeting was finally called, not even for you but Kageyama, Nishinoya pretended to be upset that “someone dares to kill you” and other bull shit. You crossed your arms and glared at his stupid yellow imposter self.
You supposed you deserved being used as a cover-up from the grave.
He better at least win.

—Notes: first full blown one-shot for this blog!! Woo!! It’s not even nsfw, idk how I managed to do that. I just got into an angst reading mood and decided to write this so here we are! I’m still not fully happy with it, but I never really like the things I write so it’s okay :). I’m not happy with the ending, either, so at some point. I might come back and fix it. Umm,, oh! There will be a nsfw part 2 at some point called “winter”. I was originally going to add it here, but by the time I finished the main story, I realised it was already 8k (plus I didn’t really know how to include it bc I hate when smut is just thrown into a fanfic without incorporating it to the plot) and decided just to include it in another part :) when it’s finished I’ll like it bother here and on my Masterlist :) have a nice day!! Sorry if this was bad!!
—Masterlists <3
Yamaguchi was an easy man to love. You knew that very well. How exactly couldn’t he be? With his big puppy-dog eyes and his warm heart to match, how was anyone meant to not fall for him?
He was the type to carry around hair ties or pads just in case you needed them. The type to always offer up his jacket when you were cold. Not to mention the freckles- oh my god weren’t his freckles just the cutest thing? He was the perfect man. You knew that, of course you did.
You had been nursing a crush on him since you first made it into Karasuno. You had bumped into the then second year on your very first day. You had somehow managed to get lost enough to end up in the second-year hallways, and he, being the oh-so-kind gentleman he was, helped you back to class.
Back then it was just a crush, puppy-dog love if you wanted to call it that. To be honest, you even followed him around like a lost puppy. But you couldn’t help it, you were just so enamored by his being. All logical thoughts didn’t matter, only those surrounding your senior did, and that was okay. Of course it was.
Ever since that day, you did everything you could to force your way into his tight nit friend group- even if that meant having to put up with the berates of Tsukkishima Kei. You just wanted to be around Yamaguchi in any way you could, and if that meant putting up with the mongrel that stole your food and called you an idiot, you would take it. It was all worth it for Tadashi.
He was like spring- the warmth, the happiness, the new beginnings. It was amazing.
To everyone else, your crush on him was obvious. Whenever you were around him, whenever he was giving you the slightest bit of attention, your cheeks would always become flushed. Your words would stutter. You’d give him gifts you that you didn’t seem to give anyone else. Not to mention how you would go all out for valentines day, spoiling him with homemade chocolates and any gifts you could find.
How could everyone not notice when it was so very obvious?
But, as stories like these go, it wasn’t obvious to him. He just thought you were nice. Maybe shy like him! You guys could understand each other because you were both so timid, must’ve been one of the reasons you were always around him and Tsukki, right? You must’ve been too nervous to make friends with anyone in your own grade. He didn’t mind, he liked your company. He hoped you guys would stay friends even after high school. You were a kind, calming personality to be around- a perfect comparison to Tsukki.
He was naïve, you both were.
Of course, he didn’t know about your feelings.
Tsukkishima, on the other hand, was the first person to notice. How could he not? No other girls really gave his best friend the attention that you did. None of them brightened at the slightest amount of physical affection from his friend. None of them made food or brought snacks to him. Obviously, he made fun of your antics, how could he not? You looked so stupid with your ears pink, your voice stuttering.
You were especially cute when he was teasing you, how your personality did a 180-degree flip for him. He got to see the side of you that you never let Yamaguchi see out of fear that he wouldn’t find you appealing. The side that was quick-witted and loud while still managing to maintain an air of innocence. The side that would surly make Yamaguchi turn his head up at the idea of even dating you. It was the same side that made Tsukkishima actually like to be around you. He loved your reactions; they were always so funny. How could he stop himself from teasing you? Especially when Yams was around.
Tsukkishima would never admit that he found you cute though- anytime the thought crossed his mind he’d push it away and shun it. You weren’t cute, just annoying, and stupid like everyone else. It wasn’t his fault that you gave amazing reactions. That’s all he wanted- a reaction out of you. Not for you to pay attention to him, to get your attention away from Yamaguchi for one goddamn minute of your life. Not for you to let go of that faux, overly shy persona that you had when it was his best friend around. Of course, it wasn’t that.
Thankfully, much to Tsukkishima’s delight (even if it was delight he was not yet willing to admit to), as you grew closer to the two men, you let the personality you had around Yamaguchi falter a bit more. The longer you three stayed friends, the more comfortable you must’ve felt. Yamaguchi didn’t really pick up on any difference, but Tsukkishima, whether it was consciously or not, did.
He noticed how your words would stutter less, how you slowly gained more confidence around them. How you were more willing to fight back against Tsukki, even in the presence of Yamaguchi. He liked it, it made you more fun to be around. They weren’t just your seniors anymore; they were your best friends.
You three did everything together- shopping, karaoke, meals. On special days you even brought Tsukki a bento box. He didn’t like to admit it, but he loved your cooking. The cute touches you added made him smile inside. Still, he kept convincing himself that the only reason he wanted to smile was because your childish antics were so stupid.
The only time he even came close to realizing his feelings for you was when he finally noticed how many guys confessed their feelings to you. When he picked you up at your locker (a habit he gained after learning you two attended the same cram school), more often than not there was a confession letter waiting inside. He never really noticed them, though. That was until white day, March 14th.
He saw you coming down to your lockers after your club activity, a giant stuffed dog held firmly in your arms. That was something he surly noticed. Something he couldn’t miss.
“What the hell is that?” he asked, glaring slightly at the offending object in your possession. He had no right to be jealous, he hadn’t even come to terms with the fact he liked you. But he knew you having something like that made him upset.
“Hmm? Oh! This? Some guy gave it to me,” you smiled, a pink blush dusting your cheeks, “His name is Ruffus!” He rolled his eyes at the stupid name you gave the stuffed puppy before smirking slightly. You were blushing, that meant Yamaguchi must’ve given it to you right? You did give him home made chocolates on valentine’s day. You were probably so happy because this meant he was finally reciprocating.
“Ahhh, I get it. Yams gave that to you huh? So, you two are finally a thing? Took both of you long enough.” You blushed at his comment.
“Of course, not you idiot, some guy in my class gave it to me. I didn’t even give him anything for valentine’s day.” You told him as you opened your locker. He looked inside, noticing quite a few pink cards located inside. The same type of envelopes those guys put their disgusting confession letters in. The feeling in his gut sparked back up.
You didn’t pay them any attention though, you just stuffed them into your bag so you could write them each a letter back, rejecting them as politely as you could. That’s what you normally did, anyway. The letters weren’t really anything new.
“Yams’ didn’t get me anything.” You said, forcing a smile, “I would say there’s next year, but you two are graduating, gonna leave me all alone! How will I survive!” You smiled at him and continued on your way to the train station. He actually felt bad for you. He normally doesn’t feel bad for anyone, but there you were, still pining after a guy who hadn’t shown any interest in you for over a year. He knew you had plenty of options (himself being one of them), but there you were, still going after his best friend who saw you as northing more then a cute little sister.
He wanted to tell you to get over him, but he was never very good at expressing what he wanted to say in words. Even if he did tell you, you both knew your feelings wouldn’t just go away. He could just tell you that Yams liked some other girl, but something in him told him not to. He didn’t want to see you sad.
So, instead, the next day he popped into your classroom early in the morning. Before you were even able to greet him, he walked over to you, put a stuffed frog on your head, then left the room without saying anything. He had never done something like that before, he wasn’t the type to give people gifts. You were confused, very confused over his actions. But happy.
He knew a gift from him was different then a gift from Yamaguchi, Yamaguchi was better than him after all. But, he had the urge to help in some way, so getting you a gift was the least he could do.
---
When graduation rolled around for your third-year best friends, you were there to support them. You always would be. You had flowers for the two of them, as well as a big dinner planned for later that night. You were going to treat them. The thought made you smile, they really deserved it.
After the ceremony, when you arrived to their classroom, Yamaguchi looked as handsome as ever, but then again, when didn’t he? His smile looked so pretty talking to his classmates. You wished he was smiling at you. But then again, when didn’t you?
Tsukkishima finally came over to you before Yamaguchi did. He had an annoyed scowl when you gave him the flowers, but then again, he always did, didn’t he? You were so proud of your friends that today you didn’t mind the teasing or the typical rude comments. You just wanted to spend a nice, happy, last day of high school with your crush and your best friend.
---
Your friends had both gotten into the same university, a university that you hoped to attened yourself the following year. You couldn’t imagine going anywhere else. You wanted to be with them again.
When the next school year started up you realized how terribly you missed the duo. Sure, you had other friends in your classes, but it wasn’t the same as the time you got to spend with the seniors you held so close to your heart. So, what else could you do other then put your head into a book and study? You worked as hard as you could to be able to make it into their university. Then you’d get to spend time with your friends once again.
As expected when their classes started up you didn’t get to see them as often, typically only getting to text them rather then actually meet in person. Yamaguchi seemed really supportive about you going to university with them, often sending you texts of encouragement on long nights of studying. Even better was when he had the time he took you out to get coffee, then to the local library to help you study. It reminded you why you started to like him in the first place; you wanted to be better for him. Better then just a silly little high school girl with a silly little crush.
Tsukishima, while you hoped would be just as supportive as Yams, didn’t really seem to care much. The occasional hangout still took place, you both still texted. However, college was stressful; it was really hard. Never mind his volleyball career and the countless hours he put into practice. The time you used to take up in his life was now consumed by school. You didn’t really expect any more or any less from him. At least you still had Yamaguchi, that was who you really needed, right?
He was your springtime, remember?
---
Finally, you managed to do it! You graduated your final, painstaking year of high school! Even got into your top university, the one Tsuki and Yams went to! You were so excited. You couldn’t believe it when you got your acceptance letter.
Finally, you would be re-united with your best friends again. It would be just like high school all over again, right?
As per usual, you were wrong. It seemed like most of the time you were. While they were both happy for you (overjoyed actually), when you finally started attending the university, the dynamic was drastically different than before. You hoped you would get to spend time together once again, just like you did back in the good old days. You hoped you would all get to eat lunch together, hang out after school, study together. But none of that was really the same.
Your and Tsuki’s schedule always lined up together, however, Yamaguchi’s always ended being the opposite. Which left you and Tsukishima to hang out a lot more often, something neither of you could really argue with. He missed you, a lot more then he was willing to admit. You missed your big old oaf as well, especially your late-night talks about life. More often than not, he ended up in your room until the moon was high in the sky, just, talking to you. After his long, stressful days, you were the exact break he needed.
Your talks never got emotional, at least they didn’t on his end. But that was okay, you didn’t mind. That was always just… him. And you liked your friendship with him. Whenever your conversations ventured to Yamaguchi, he made sure to never talk about his friends love life. The crushes he had on other girls at the time, his friends ideal type, none of that. Maybe that was a mistake, he didn’t know. Maybe you would have finally taken the hint and gotten over your feelings. He just didn’t want to hurt you. The way your eyes lit up when his best friend was around, he couldn’t take that away from you. That just wasn’t right. He just wanted to see you happy. That was his excuse.
As the years continued on, your puppy-love that originally began in high school had only grown and bloomed into a full-fledged love for none other than Yamaguchi Tadashi, the innocence with it still carried over. He had nurtured that love without even knowing it himself. He was an easy man to love. In your second year of college, you knew that for sure.
There you were, laying on the floor with Tsukishima occupying the bed like most other nights. That day you had gone out with the two of them, now, you were flustered. Mad even. That day, while you were out, you noticed Tadashi staring at a pretty 4th year girl. His cheeks were completely flushed, and when she managed to bump into him on accident, he could barely utter a word. The two of you were opposites, that was pretty obvious, even if it was just based on looks alone. She was graceful and elegant, and so very mature. While you were still cute and innocent; your second year of college and you hadn’t even had your first kiss yet.
It hurt, it really, really hurt to see that. So, you now sat there, stewing in silence as Tsuki kicked your head for the umpteenth time trying to get your attention.
“Oi, you fre-“
“I think Tadashi is into experienced girls.” You said abruptly, finally breaking out of your once quiet demeanor. Tsuki shifted uncomfortably, not really knowing how to traverse around this.
“What the fuck are you on about this time?” Was the response he settled with. You turned around, finally making eye contact with him.
“Think about it! We both saw how he was around that girl today!” You pouted, standing up. You put your hands on your hips. Kei thought you looked stupid (cute) like that, with your cheeks all puffed out in obvious irritation.
“Yeah and?”
“Do you think if I was more experienced then I would have a chance with him?” He really didn’t know how to answer this one. It was one of the subjects he always avoided. He knew Tadashi’s ideal type, but he would never actually tell you it.
“(y/n)..” he signed out, rubbing his face slightly in irritation. That’s when you said words he never thought he would actually hear from you.
“Could you teach me how to kiss?” It was silly of you to think knowing how to kiss would suddenly make him fall in love with you, but people did silly things for love didn’t they? You crawled between his legs, looking up at him with a smile and a pale pink blush adorning your features.
Tsukishima sat up straighter than he had before, and looked at you with evident shock across his features. You, his innocent little best friend, was asking him for kissing lessons? You were sitting so prettily between his legs? You weren’t actually serious were you? Sure, he knew how to, he had quite a bit of experience and that kind of thing didn’t mean much to him with other girls. And sure, the idea did excite him- but no. No, he couldn’t do that. Not to his best friend who was in love with their green-haired counterpart.
“Idiot, stop talking out of your ass.” He said, turning his face away from yours, a pink settling on his cheeks as well, “You wanted to save that for someone you cared about.” He knew this, of course he did. And he wasn’t that person. For some reason, at the thought of that, something panged in his heart.
“So what? It doesn’t matter anymore does it? I don’t care about that kind of thing anymore.” Yes you did. You both knew you did. Kei was the only one who was willing to admit it though.
He signed and tried to push you away from him slightly, “Yes you do. You just need to sleep this idiocity of yours off.” He was blunt about it, he always was. But, suddenly he felt a gentle tug on the bottom of his shirt and he instinctively met your gaze once again. His eyes couldn’t help but widen.
“Pl-please Kei…? I… I really need your help… I’m too inexperienced… I trust you a lot.. and I really need your help with this…” Now you were just flat out begging him. It tugged on his heart strings; it really did. He never wanted to make you sad.
He signed, you were always able to make him give in to stupid things. Only you though.
“Fine. But don’t come to me asking for shit like this again.” He stated bluntly. And suddenly, all the sadness vanished from your face, replaced with that big stupid smile he told himself he hated.
“Thank you! Thank you so much! You’re the best person in the world!” And for once, maybe he believed it. When you spoke things so earnestly, it was hard for him not to believe them. He rolled his eyes.
“You better not regret this okay?” He spoke softly. He slowly reached out and took you chin between his forefinger and thumb, leading your face closer to his.
“I promise I won’t.”
And with that last bit of consent he needed, he kissed you.
It was gentle, so gentle. It was too easy to kiss him back. Your grip stayed firm on the bottom of his shirt, your eyes screwed shut awkwardly tight. Eventually, he pulled away only to kiss you again, this time deeper and more passionate. He felt years of weight rushing off of him all at once and he had no clue why. All he knew is that for some reason he was finally able to relax. He removed his hand from your chin, instead resting it on your waist gently.
Before he realized what he was doing, he gently licked your bottom lip, asking for entrance. You squeaked but nevertheless obliged, opening your mouth just enough so he could move his tongue inside.
He kiss itself was slow and passionate. He slowly coaxed out what he wanted from you without exchanging any words. The only time the two of you pulled away was to take a breath before he kissed you again and again, each one rougher then the last. Eventually, you began to relax into his touch, into him as he kept going. You never really thought just kissing another person could feel this good.
At some point throughout the exchange, Tsukishima had managed to take hold of your ass, pulling you onto his lap. You let out a little whine when he gripped you too hard. That whine excited him. He didn’t think he could take it anymore. He was getting hard, too hard. Your innocence, your inexperience. He loved all of it.
He wasn’t thinking anymore, why should he think when he gets so drunk off of just kissing you?
Oh right.
That’s why.
Because its you. His best friend of 5 years who was hopelessly in love with someone else. Someone that wasn’t him. It made him upset, deeply so. Why didn’t you love him the same way you loved Yamaguchi? What did Yamaguchi have that he didn’t?
Wait, was he in love with you?
Thoughts over the last 5 years finally registered with him as you began to pull your shirt off. As much as he wanted to continue, this was all too much for him to deal with him at the moment. Years of feelings and emotions that he kept supressed rushed out of him like the Niagra falls. It was too much. This was too much.
That’s when he remembered, you weren’t doing this for him. You were doing it because you wanted Yamaguchi to like you. He had to stop this.
You moaned again and pulled away from the kiss, once again attempting to remove the annoying material known as your shirt. If he didn’t know the truth maybe he really would believe it, that you actually cared about him and wanted to do this.
Abruptly, Tsukishima stood up, causing you to fall back onto the plush, stuffed animal covered bed. You looked at him confused. He must’ve just been nervous to take things farther, he probably thought you didn’t want to. It was okay! You needed to learn about that stuff too anyway if you were going to show Yamaguchi how mature and elegant you could be. Just like that other girl. The girl he really liked.
“‘S okay!” You smiled and sat up on the bed, “We can keep going, I don’t mind.” You looked at him with hopeful eyes, expecting him to move back on top of you to continue. But instead, he began to grab his things and make way for the door. You were confused. Why was he acting like this all of a sudden? Didn’t he say he would help? Didn’t he wanna do this? You quickly got up and grabbed his wrist to stop him.
“Did I do something wrong? Was I that bad?”
“No.” He bluntly stated, not looking back at you. He couldn’t deal with this. He pulled his arm away, “Just confess to him already. This is getting annoying. Shit it’s been annoying. It’s been 5 fucking years!” Suddenly, you felt insecure. You felt rejected.
“Wh-what? But I thought…”
“You thought wrong. Just tell him you like him.” And with that, he left your dorm room. He really didn’t understand why he was getting so upset, he didn’t exactly have a right to either. He had never felt this jealous before. He didn’t feel it when he fucked around with girls, didn’t feel it when guys hit on the other girls he had been interested it, but you were different. He needed to come to terms with these newly discovered feelings, yet he didn’t know if he could ever actually face you again. Not with you still head over heels for Yamaguchi.
So, the days trailed on with no sign of Tsukishima. Yamaguchi was showing up less and less, too. Presumably, he was meeting up with that girl again, Riko, as you learned her name to be. You saw them around campus a few times. But you didn’t let yourself admit the truth. You didn’t want to. It was better to just protect your heart. They were just friends, study partners. Had to be right?
The worst of it was that whenever you tried to talk to Tsuki, he always left you on read or said something so dry that you couldn’t reply to it. Seems like your spring, your happiness, your youth had finally faded.
Over the coming weeks you were alone again. Just like high school, you took to studying to drown out the feelings of loneliness. Helplessness maybe. Eventually, you stopped trying to spend time with them. It was obvious Kei had been ignoring you since that night, and Yamaguchi was clearly occupied with his summer fling.
That’s it.
This had to be the feeling of summer. Uncomfortable, alone, and warm. School was over, it wasn’t as easy to be around friends. There were still pretty flowers, they just weren’t around you. You had to seek refuge in your cool house. The cold was much more calming.
But eventually, you got tired of that too. You were tired of this. All the awkward tension, all the avoidance of each other. Maybe, just maybe, if you couldn’t save your relationship with Tsuki, you could at least save it with Yamaguchi.
You chose a day and marked it on your calendar. That was the day you would finally tell him your true feelings. Up until now, you were too scared of the rejection, too scared of loosing him, but you practically already had. Your friendship with the two men was in shambles, so if there was an all or nothing chance that could make things better, you decided you needed to take it.
If he rejects you, you decided that you could take it. You have to take it. You cant just sit there pining after him anymore. Back in your younger years you thought that you might still have a chance if you just waited it out. Maybe he would confess! But he never did. Maybe you just needed to confess your feelings to get over him. Maybe just maybe that’s what you wanted.
Or maybe you wanted him to accept you with open arms. You didn’t really know what you wanted. You just wanted to be done with the drama your crush on him has brought you so you could go back to spring.
But seasons change. The cruel clock continues to tick on and on without stopping. Once you passed spring you couldn’t get it back.
—-
Finally, when that fated day arrived, you walked up to his dorm. You tried your best to look nice and calm, but you knew you weren’t very good at that. Even when you tried your hardest you always looked slightly disheveled. You once hoped it was something Yamaguchi would like about you, but it never seemed like it was. Tsukishima loved it though, he was finally willing to admit it too.
You looked down at his door handle and noticed a sock placed on it. Looking back on that moment, you wished you knew what it meant. That might’ve saved you from seeing what you did.
You had a lot of wishes.
But alas, you never got that lesson from your female friends- hell you didn’t really had any close female friends other than the guy’s team managers in high school. So, in your naïveté, you gently took the sock off the handle, maybe it somehow ended up there when he was doing the laundry? He was clumsy like that. You shrugged it off and twisted to see if it was locked. It was.
That should have been your second red flag to turn back, he always kept his door unlocked.
But, once again, you always seemed to make the wrong choice.
You found your keys, pulling them out of your pocket. Located on the ringlet was the same key he had given to his dorm back at the beginning of the school year. Back when the 3 of you were closer. You suck it in the keyhole and turned it before opening the door, the sight inside scaring you.
Yamaguchi had his face scrunched up in pleasure, his cock buried deep inside Riko’s cunt. She was on her hands and knees with her back bent at an angle that couldn’t have been comfortable. Your eyes went wide as the sound of skin slapping against skin was all you could hear. Suddenly, you felt hot. Very hot. You couldn’t breathe either. It was like you had just run a marathon in 90-degree heat. It was awful.
You wished you had just turned around and ran before Yamaguchi saw you, you really wished you did. But you were frozen in place. It was like the summer heat had dragged you down to the fiery pits of hell.
Eventually, when he did see you, his face flushed even brighter than it had been before. He quickly pulled out of her, hurriedly dressing the two of them while you just stood in place. How long did you stand there? You had no idea.
You should have been happy for your friend; you really wish you could have been. You wished you could have just said something funny and walked away like nothing happened. If only your 5-year love for the man wasn’t in the way. Without it, this would have just been an awkward experience, not an utterly heartbreaking one. You didn’t have a right to be upset either, you knew that; you didn’t have a claim over him. But it still hurt. It hurt more than anything else. Like a sunburn after a long day at the beach.
“A-ah! (Y/n)! I didn’t know you were coming over!” Yamaguchi laughed out awkwardly, finally pulling up his pants. Of course he wasn’t hurting like you. He was in a relationship. You wanted him to be happy. Its what he deserved after making you feel so happy, so cared about for so many years.
So, what else could you do other than you force a smile onto your face. You could wallow in your own emotions another time.
“Yeah! I just needed to um.. grab something! I didn’t know you were in here.” You said, fumbling with your words a bit, “But I see you’re busy! I’ll head out!” You quickly closed the door, leaning against the wall right next to it. You needed a moment to compose yourself before your walk back to your dorm. You didn’t want to burst out into tears in the middle of the campus for everyone to see.
“Who was that?”
“Oh, she’s just my friend from high school!”
“Just a friend? Why did she have a key to your place then? I know I locked the door.”
“Ah, you don’t have to be so worried about her, she’s like my little sister. Sometimes she needs my help with things.”
You wished you just left. Wished you just ran straight home. Wished the walls weren’t as thin as they were. Wished they weren’t standing so close to the door. Anything you could have wished on in that moment you did. Just a high school friend. Just a little sister. Not even one of his best friends. The words made you feel sick. Who cares if anyone saw you crying, you just needed to get out of there. You held a hand over your mouth as you practically ran home, afraid you might actually throw up if you didn’t.
Oh, how the summer stung.
---
You hadn’t left your dorm in days; you really shouldn’t have been as upset as you were. You didn’t have any right to. The most you ever did with poor Tadashi was hold his hand- even that wasn’t in any sort of romantic manor. But still, there you were. Heartbroken. It was only natural really, you knew he didn’t owe you anything, you knew you weren’t in a relationship. He could do whatever he wanted! But that didn’t stop it from hurting. You didn’t think it would ever really stop hurting.
It was on the fifth day that you decided you needed to do something. Something to forget. Go out to a party, get drunk, fuck some random guy. It didn’t matter. Maybe you just wanted to continue the destructive streak you already had going. Why not fuck around and loose your virginity? None of it mattered anyway. Not when the man you had loved since your first year in high school never even thought about loving you back.
Unrequited love was a bitch.
You decided that you needed to get over yourself, get over this pity party you were throwing. Maybe if you went out tonight you could get over him. Maybe then the summer bee sting would finally go away.
You didn’t have many clothes for going out, it wasn’t something you were really into. So, you tried your best to put together an outfit to make yourself feel appealing. Did your hair to make yourself feel pretty. Put on some makeup to feel a tad bit more confident. Even if your skills weren’t that great, it didn’t matter. You felt prettier then you had the whole week. That is what mattered. You didn’t really think guys cared how you dressed anyway, only what was underneath, so it didn’t really matter.
When you finally left the dorm and arrived at one of the various parties going on, the moon was high in the sky. The confidence you had walking to the building had all but vanished when you finally manouvered inside. The music was loud, people were sweaty, the place was a mess. But that didn’t matter right? All that mattered was getting over your spring, some other girls Yamaguchi Tadashi.
After all, one thing that stays the same is the seasons changing.
You made your way over to the kitchen to grab a drink. You never really liked the idea of drinking, the smell making you feel sick, but you needed to let loose. That’s what alcohol was for anyway, wasn’t it? That what all the teen movies you watched as you cried into your pillow told you. It was really childish of you, but you had never gone through heart break before. Maybe you were just a late bloomer. Maybe this was the moment that would make you mature. As you took your first sip, your nose scrunched up, but you kept downing it.
Eventually you made your way to the dance floor, the alcohol taking a firm hold on your system as you finally let loose. You relaxed as you swayed to the music and laughed easily. Your consciousness was still there, you were still clear enough to make decisions. A certain wall had just otherwise broken down.
A guy came up behind you and began grinding against your ass as you danced. You giggled and turned around to face him. He wasn’t unattractive, far from it. If you were going to do this now would be the time to.
“Hey.” You smiled at him. He smiled back.
Little did you know, the source of one of your problems was also there that night, also there trying to drink away his feelings. He was so stupid. Tsukishima knew very well he was. All this time and he never realized his liked you more than just his idiot best friend. And now that he did know, he knew he had no chance with you. Every emotion he didn’t understand surrounding you from all those years came rushing at him tenfold. He didn’t like the dog because he was jealous, he didn’t like the confession letters because he didn’t like the idea other men could have you.
He loved you smile, he didn’t think you looked stupid, he thought you looked adorable. The stuffed animals that he once made fun of you having were now the cutest thing. The reason your food was so good was because you made it, not just because you were a good cook. He was pretty sure you could feed him garbage and he would love it all because you were the one who gave it to him.
He knew why he didn’t like talking about Tadashi with you- it was because he wished he was Tadashi. He wanted to be the one you loved and cared about. But now he knew that that would never happen, all because you loved someone other then him.
He had been avoiding both you and Yamaguchi since all of those realizations. He tried quick fucks to make up for the feelings you left him with, but nothing helped. He was there again that night to try to do the same thing. To look for an easy pussy to stick his dick into as an attempt to get over you. It was better that he did, for all three of you.
That was when he saw you on the dance floor, with some other man’s filthy hands all over you. Hands that should be his. At first he honestly didn’t really believe it was you, he just thought it was whatever drink he was having that night making him delusional. You wouldn’t be at a party like this. You couldn’t be. But when he inched closer and closer, he realized it had to be you. You were standing there in the skimpiest skirt he thought he had ever seen and thigh-highs, with some guy biting disgusting marks into your neck.
When the man whispered something in your ear, you blushed. Tsuki’s face was red for other reasons. He saw the guy take your small hand into his own and start to lead you up the stairs. Wait, no. He couldn’t let that happen. He shouldn’t let that happen. You should be with him. He listened to the thoughts in his head and rushed over to you, pulling you against his chest. The other man stepped back in an offended manor.
“Huh? What are you doing here?” You mumbled out, a pout forming on your lips, your cheeks pushed out just the way he liked. It was so cute. He loved it so much. But right now was not the time to get caught up in his own feelings.
“It doesn’t matter. What are you doing?” He said in a stern manor, glaring down at you dangerously. You giggled and stood on your tippy toes to whisper in his ear. His aggressive deminior didn’t really mean anything.
“I’m gonna get fucked! I think this guy likes me!” You giggled; your cheeks dusted with rose. He scoffed in annoyance, could you really be that stupid?
“No, you’re not. You’re drunk.”
“Hush! I’m not drunk! Perfectly sane!” You smiled, while the other man stared at the two of you awkwardly.
“Hey uh… I’m sorry if this is your girl. I had no clue… Um… I’m gonna go… I don’t wanna be a part of your weird jealous fuck… I’ve been roped into that one too many times before, and it’s never a happy ending.” The stranger said, before awkwardly trotting away and grabbing himself another drink. You whined and pushed at Tsuki’s chest, sad your fuck to get over Tadashi had now walked away and seemingly had no interest.
“What did you do that for?!” You whined and squirmed around cutely like you were actually disappointed. He really hoped you weren’t.
“We’re leaving.” He murmured bluntly, picking you up and carrying you outside of the building. You squirmed the whole time, constantly berating him about putting you down and how he ruined your night. He didn’t listen though, only carried you back to his dorm, most likely waking up all of his neighbors in the process due to your voice.
Only after you finally made it inside did he put you down, dropping you on his bed. He turned his back to you, scavenging through his dresser.
“I cant believe you! And when I was this close-“ He interrupted you, handing you some of his clothes to change into, “What the fuck are these for?” You said, holding them up and shaking them slightly for dramatic effect.
He only sighed and sat down at his desk chair, “You don’t see me as one, but I am a man, (y/n).” You only looked at him confused, but he sighed again, opting to not explain himself further, “You’re staying the night. You should be comfortable.” He turned around in his chair, now facing away from you. Oddly, you missed his gold, piercing stare.
“Oh, so just cause you’re a guy you cant keep your dick in your pants?”
“That’s not what I meant you idiot.”
“That’s what it seems like. I was hoping to have that effect on someone else you know! Not you!”
“I know.”
“Then why the fuck did you take me away?!”
“You were going to regret it. Can you please just shut the fuck up?” He signed, rubbing his temples. It seemed like you were really itching to get in a fight that night. He kind of deserved it, he didn’t have any right to drag you away. What you wanted to do was your choice, he shouldn’t have any say in it. But he couldn’t just stand there and watch as you got taken from him- even if he decided that you would never like him in that way.
You scoffed and stood up, “I’m leaving.” You didn’t want to go.
“Don’t...” You didn’t expect him to say that. You expected him to laugh at you and say see if I care. Did he… care..? Maybe, you didn’t know. It didn’t matter though, as you listened to her stern, dominating voice, you sat back down on the bed, just as he wanted. You stained into his muscular back with confusion and annoyance.
“What do you want Tsukishima.” You asked, well, more so stated. And he really didn’t have an answer for you. He wanted you to fall for him instead of that green haired twig who couldn’t see the amazing thing right in front of him. For once he wanted to be in a dumb romcom where he was the guy the girl actually fell for instead of just the supportive best friend. He wanted you. He wasn’t going to say that though, opting to just change the subject entirely.
“Why were you going to do that?” He questioned, still not able to bring himself to turn around and face you.
“Do what?”
“Fuck him. It wasn’t to.. You weren’t just trying to make yourself more experienced for.. for him right?” He was having trouble finding the exact right words to say. However, when a sudden sharp laugh (a laugh that he loved) moved past your lips he whipped around quickly, watching you almost keel over in laughter.
“Him?” You laughed, “You mean Yamaguchi? Hell no! I was trying to get over that cabbage patch kid.” You calmed yourself down, while Tsuki just stared at you, now it was his turn to be confused.
He had no clue about the events that happened between you and Tadashi, so you explained, “I know, finally right? I walked in on him fucking that chick. I threw myself a pity party and now here I am, trying to get over him before you so rudely pulled- no sorry, carried my ass away.” He couldn’t believe what he was hearing, you were finally trying to get over him? He knew he should’ve felt bad, your heart had been broken and he wasn’t there to help, but the only thought going through his head were thanks to whatever god there was.
“Oh.”
“Yeah, yeah, here comes all the teasing and mocking, I know the drill. You can spare me from it.”
“I’m sorry that happened.”
“Haha yeah the jokes all on me- what?” You were bamboozled! You had never heard him say those words before, even when he made you cry from mocking you about your creepy pasta phase in high school.
“That sucks, I know you really liked him.”
“I… Yeah.. Yeah it does suck.” You pulled your legs up to your chest, not really knowing how to react in this situation. He had never been this emotionally open with you, never really showed you any form of empathy. You kind of wanted to cry, let your emotions out now that you finally had someone to actually listen to you. All he did was nod, trying not to pay any mind to your pink panties that had now been exposed due to your new position.
“Get changed okay?” He said gently. It was a tone you weren’t used to hearing from him just yet. You nodded your head before he turned back around in his chair. You took that as a sign to get started, pulling off your top and exchanging it for his bigger, comfier volleyball jersey he had handed to you earlier. The sweats he gave you to wear were huge as well, but they were really your only option. You didn’t want to go back to your dorm anymore, it was much too hot there. Summer emotions were strong and evident. But Tsuki’s room, it was cool like fall.
Oh, how you were soon going to love fall.
When you finished changing, you perched yourself back on his bed, nestled into the corner with all the pillows. His bed was comfortable, maybe you wouldn’t mind this sleepover.
“You can look now, I finished.” When he turned around, he should’ve known what to expect. However, he was not anticipating the effect you had on him. If he thought you looked amazing in that skirt, you looked even better in his clothes.
He wouldn’t say anything about it though, you didn’t need that right now.
You fiddled with the bottom of your shirt; things normally weren’t this awkward between you. But then again, you two hadn’t talked for the last couple of weeks, and the last time you did you were begging him to teach you how to kiss.
“So,” You decided to try to make some form of conversation at least, “Why were you out tonight?” You smiled slightly at him as he took his glasses off, “You normally just like to say home and study.”
Same reason you were. “The rest of the team went to it; I just went for them” You nodded in understanding.
“You can come over here, you know? I don’t want you to be uncomfortable. I wont bite unless threatened.” You smiled, patting the spot next to you in bed.
He hesitated for a moment before you sweetened the deal, “I’ll watch your lame volleyball games with you.” At that he stood up and slid next to you in bed. You couldn’t help but cuddle up to him, resting your head gently against his shoulder, waiting for a nudge off of him that never came. He pulled his phone out and pulled up a game for the two of you to watch. This was nice, this was peaceful. It was like autumn. Your autumn.
After awhile of listening to him talk about the game, you fell asleep nuzzled up to his neck.
—-
In the following months you and Tsuki grew closer- a lot closer, much to his delight. Those late-night talks came back and eventually morphed into sleepovers. Sleepovers where you always found yourself cuddled up to him by morning. Eventually, he even starting initiating affection in his own, albeit rough way. It was relaxing, he was so nice. Well, not literally. He still made fun of you, which resulted in you making fun of him back.
But on those nights where he would be softer and open up to you, it would make you so happy.
Eventually, after seeing you and Tsuki walk around on campus, Yamaguchi realized the friendship he had been neglecting with the two of you. He started hanging out more and more, but the shift in your trio’s dynamic was obvious. You and Tsukishima seemed a lot closer then you two had before, which Tadashi only saw as a good thing. He was happy his friends were finally closer! He smiled at the thought of you three remaining friends even after college.
He was still clueless about people’s emotions towards him, always had been, always will be.
So, your friendship with the boys was back in full bloom. You were excited about it, finally realizing how relaxing it could be to spend time with your friends without stupid emotions in the way.
That was until emotions did, in fact, start to get in the way again.
They always did.
Yamaguchi’s girlfriend broke up with him, and of course, who did he come running to other then you? You let him cry into your arms. You had to. You wanted to make your best friend feel better, but that “making him feel better” did not include him kissing you, at least on your end it didn’t. To him though, it did.
In the middle of his shaking and crying he looked up to you with his red puffy doe eyes. Before you knew it his lips were on yours. You weren’t expecting it, you didn’t know what to do. The moment you had been waiting your whole life for had just presented itself, and all you could think about was Tsukishima and how he kissed you, how he made you feel so good with nothing but his tongue.
You pulled away and stood up, apologizing quickly, and leaving your dorm. Yamaguchi sat there confused as well. Why did he kiss you? He didn’t have the slightest clue either. He was probably just so upset, maybe looking for a rebound. You shouldn’t be his rebound though. He was probably just confused. That’s what the both of you told yourselves anyway. He couldn’t have actually realized his feelings for you in that moment. Tsukishima would’ve told you he didn’t deserve to.
When you arrived at the door, you were hot again. Summer was back and you didn’t know why. But, Tsukishima could cool you down, he always managed to. When he opened the door and saw your distraught figure, he did nothing but open his arms. When you were upset you always seemed to want to be held. He didn’t get it, but making fun of you in that moment wouldn’t help.
You lunged into his arms and held him tight, burring your face in his shirt in an instant. He slowly picked you up, closed the door, and maneuvered over to his bed to sit the two of you down on it. You needed a friend right now.
“Wanna tell me what happened?” You stilled for a moment, taking a long hesitant breath before speaking. You wanted to try to remain as calm as possible.
“Y-Yams he.. his girlfriend broke up with him… He kissed me…” Tsukishima tensed up at this and started to rub circles into your back.
“Oh, he did? Dream come then?” You were gonna leave him again weren’t you?
You only shook your head, “I-I….I don’t think so…” you managed to squeak out, “I don’t know what I’m feeling… I just know I couldn’t stop thinking about you.” Tsuki looked at you confused before sighing, now wasn’t the time to have a talk about your potential feelings for him. You just needed to rest.
“Emotions are shitty aren’t they?” He sighed out, you nodded and relaxed against him. Hopefully, you wouldn’t leave him for his idiot best friend. Not this time.
“T-Tsuki… I know I’m being really selfish right now but… I want you to make the pain go away.. I-I don’t think anyone else can do it..” You looked up at him with your eyes watering. It felt wrong to kiss Yamaguchi, like you were enacting a sin that god forbit you from. It felt dirty and wrong.
“What do you want me to do?” He sighed, pushing a strand of hair out of your face. It was sad how easily he gave into you.
“I-I don’t know.. I just feel dirty.. I feel wrong..” You said, bottom lip quivering slightly. He was honestly amazed at this. How could he make you feel like this? Why did kissing Yamaguchi make you feel dirty? Why did you think he could cleanse you? He shouldn’t act. He really shouldn’t. But your lips, they were so soft and inexperienced he kissed you.. would they be the same as last time? Would you be so quick to make a sound? He wanted to know, and he wanted to make you feel better.
So, he leaned down and kissed you. You didn’t pull away, didn’t scream in disgust. Rather, it seemed to be exactly what you wanted. A soft mewl of approval you let out shot straight through him. You learned into his touch, finally starting to cool down. This is exactly what you wanted, exactly what you needed. You need Tsukishima. It finally dawned on you that that’s why you were so repulsed by Yamaguchi kissing you, it was because you didn’t want anyone other then Tsukishima to be doing that kind of thing to you.
Once the kiss finally broke, a string of saliva connected your mouths. You were panting, your head dizzy from the overwhelming emotions. Tsukishima’s eyes just stared down at you, lust clouding his vision as his breathes labored slightly. He wanted to take things further, but he refused to let himself do that just yet. He had already indulged himself too much, but you looked so happy.
“Th-thank you..” You finally breathed out, “I-I.. thank you..” you mumbled, collapsing against the blonde’s chest. The effect he had on you was unbelievable, but it filled you with such pure and utter satisfaction.
He smiled down at you, a real genuine smile, “Get some sleep.” He told you, and you listened.
The following morning wasn’t as awkward as you thought it would be. When you woke up, he just held you against his chest. After a long talk that was much too sappy for Tsukishima’s liking, you two eventually decided to give dating a shot.
It scared you a little, you had to admit. You were nervous about your inexperience, most guys your age wouldn’t like that kind of thing right? But he reassured you, adding in a line making fun of you, calling you a baby to lighten the mood. He was happy. So happy. You both were.
This was right, it felt right.
As summer melted away into autumn, you found a new love, a new hope.
Maybe a new start wasn’t spring. Maybe a new start was Autumn after all.
Your fall, your Tsukishima. <3
Thank you all for reading!! Part 2 will be up at some point!! Have a lovely day <3

Good Old-fashioned Loverboy
three teens who figured it out. . .sorta. . .yeah definitely figured it out
words: 1412
yamaguchi x reader x tsukishima
No exams, no homework and no practice which was honestly a miracle for the team. Just a regular Friday night for the Karasuno boys and their managers. The 3rd years are planning to go to the cinema, the 2nd years are working together to find an arcade that Tanaka and Noya haven’t been banned from, and two groups of 1st years are doing something different. Yachi, Hinata, and Kageyama were heading to the park for two things; taking photos and volleyball. While Yamaguchi, Tsukishima, and you were heading to town for karaoke.
“This would’ve been much easier if we had picked a place beforehand.” you groaned out to the boys on either side of them. The trio just got off the train and realized none of them had direction to the Karaoke Plaza.
“I can proudly say that it’s not on me this time. Tsukki was in charge of directions for this one. . .” Yamaguchi mumbled out not wanting to take the blame for the lack of directions.
“Shut up, Yamaguchi.” Tsukishima grumbled out, ears lightly tinted pink. It sorta drifted from his mind during the train ride especially with you and Yamaguchi leaning against him, debating on what songs to sing when they got there.
Y/N could only laugh at Tsukishima’s unfortunate call out by Yamaguchi. To save Tsukishima from further embarrassment, they just searched “Karaoke Plaza” and found one about a 10 minute walk from the train station.
After looping around twice around the block, they finally get to the plaza and Y/N payed for the room while Yamaguchi gathered snacks, drinks for them and Tsukishima paid for those because he messed up on the directions.
“A good Karaoke Friday with my boys!” you exclaimed excitedly, walking into the room holding the basket of treats that Tsukishima had you carry.
“Tch. . . it’s not that exciting, nerd” the tall blonde muttered out
“Tsukki, you’re in class 1-4 with us so you’re also a ‘nerd’ along with us” the green headed boy shot back as if it was second nature.
You set down the basket on the middle table near the book and controls while the two others got comfortable and fixed. Once getting their bags and jackets off, Yamaguchi looked for the small tambourines and Tsukishima decided to get the TV going.
Looking through the book, Y/N found the song they were looking for, ‘Good Old-Fashioned Loverboy’ by Queen, it’s been a song on constant repeat for the manager especially when down in the dumps about their crushes. Punching in the American song code into the controller it starts at the song’s second chorus.
Say the word, your wish is my command~
You’ve known these two boys for four years now and it’s been quite the ride for you. You met them during junior high orientation week and you’re happy you did meet this pair. Complete opposites to one another but fit together as if they were final puzzle pieces.
Tsukishima Kei was a tough person to get talking to at first but slowly his tough facade chipped away. The tall blonde boy who is often seen with a frown or a condescending smirk on his face was smiling in the present of someone other than his closest friend.
Yamaguchi Tadashi was shy at first meet and isn’t the biggest people person but had no problem when snickering at others along with tsukishima. For some reason he had no troubles talking to you, he was the first to greet and the first to exchange numbers.
Two generally closed off kids meet another and open up. Sure they had their rough moments but that’s what made them them. You made it easier though and so you became the last actual piece of puzzle that formed the trio.
Two years in, you realized that you started to develop feelings that weren’t just platonic towards the boys. It was confusing and a nightmare figuring it out. You always tried to shove it deep down but it got hard after sometime.
Even more when you notice Tsukishima taking a liking towards Yamaguchi and seeing Yamaguchi giving the same. But you never notice how they looked at you when you looked away. Three friends who didn’t know what to do or say.
C’mon and Get It~
You didn’t know what came over yourself when you noticed Tsukishima glancing at Yamaguchi with a look of affection in his eye.
“Maybe it‘s time to let go” You thought with a sigh before pushing Yams towards Tsukki
Ooh, love~
Yamaguchi was too into his thoughts to hear the sudden sigh from beside him before being pushed towards his best friend, Tsukishima Kei.
His eyes widened from the fast change. Cheeks growing warm from the sudden burst of his personal bubble and the closeness. Looking at each other, it was as if the childhood friends were thinking on the same line.
“Maybe it’s time we finally tell them”
This wasn’t going to be some impulsive decision on their half or at least that’s what they’re telling themselves. Though it’s not like the two didn’t talk about this before with each other. The boys figured out at the end of junior high that they not only like each other but you as well.
So lost in the song you didn’t see the look the friends gave one another. A look that was soft but hesitant yet full of hope and affection.
Feeling a sudden tug at your hoodie, you're pulled between the middle block and pinch server. At the same time the two sing with genuine voices.
ooh, loverboy~
What’re you doin’ tonight, hey, boy?~
Standing there frozen from the line, heat moved to your cheeks and a silly smile slowly appeared on your face.
Write my letter~
Feel much better~
And use my fancy patter on the telephone~
The music is still playing on in the background and hearts racing for the sudden silence between the trio. Tadashi and Kei took a shot in the dark doing this, not really sure if you even like them back but they didn't care. The worst that could happen is you not feeling the same towards the two.
“You know it isn’t funny to mess with me like that, you guys.” you muttered out though your voice held no malice just a tinge of confusion and caution.
“We aren’t joking, idiot.”
“Hey!”
“Just hear us out, please?”
The room didn’t hold an awkward feeling if anything it was calm but loud at the same time.
“We realized that both of us hold feeling for you, y/n” Tadashi sounded so nervous getting his sentence out, “We’re honestly taking ou–” he gets cut off by the tall blonde
“What Tadashi is trying to say is that we both like you and if you don’t feel the same that’s okay, we could just ignore what just happened and move on.” he sounded so uninterested but the speed he spoke at gave away what his tone did not. He was nervous.
“I–” you began to speak but was cut off by Tadashi
“Like Tsukki said, if you don’t feel the same that’s okay.”
“Not like it would be the end of the world–” Kei gets a nudge in the side, tch, “Watch it, Yamaguchi.”
“Sorry, Tsukki.”
“Can I speak now?” you asked softly and gave a smile. The two players give you a nod. You shuffle a bit before clearing your throat.
“Before I was interrupted,” you eyed Tadashi playful, “I was going to say that I like you both as well.” you kept your gaze a bit low, too nervous to look them in the eyes. Taking in a deep slow breath, you gathered enough confidence to look towards Kei, “I like how you take the time out of your day to check on me when you feel like something is wrong,” grabbing his hand before turning towards Tadashi and taking his as well before continuing
“And I like how you let me call at the terrible hour of 3 in the morning just because I couldn’t sleep or I really wanted to talk about something you had no knowledge prior to.”
“So if you need to hear it one more time, I like both of you, Tsukishima Kei and Yamaguchi Tadashi.”
One Month Later
“Hey Stingyshima, Yamaguchi, why is there a picture of the two of you and Y/N cuddling in the group chat?”
The pinch server could only laugh at his blonde partner because he was the one sent it by mistake.
“Shut up, Yamaguchi.”
“Sorry, Tsukki”

omg can i request relationship hc with kei tsukishima as well
Absolutely, anon!! Only makes sense for the other Tsukki to get his love too. Here’s my relationship with Akiteru HC if you wanna check that out.
I’m also sorry my headcanons always turn into short semi-fic hybrids, I just get too invested in my imagination and Kei was a lot of fun to write for hehee.
Thank you @tedwardos and @nonexistent-social-life for bouncing some ideas with me, and coming up with Tsukkisaur HAHA. You guys are amazing. 😘💞
Being in a Relationship with Kei Tsukishima 👓🦖
How it all began:
Truthfully, I do not see Kei as someone who would fall in love or have a crush on anyone that easily. Therefore, I believe it would be appropriate if you are Yamaguchi’s distant relative who went to the same school.
As we all know, Yams would get bullied often in middle school, and even when he tried to stand up for himself, he gets pushed back down. So that’s why you always try to intervene, physically throwing your body between the bully and your relative with your bravest face.
However, they would just push you aside and go back to bullying Yams :(. You felt pretty dang helpless and very upset that you've been brushed off like a piece of garbage.
So as you are readying to tackle one of them, you stop when you hear an unfamiliar voice behind you. “Lame.”
You turn around angrily, thinking that it was directed at you, but is surprised when the tall blonde boy is looking above you, at the bullies.
One of them runs over to pick a fight with him, but he simply towers over them. Tsukki: “What?” then at that, they all run away, leaving you and Yams behind. You’re still unsure if he was also referring to you, but when you turn to look at the admiration in your relative’s eyes, you can’t help but look down at the bruises on your knees pathetically.
All these times you’ve spent trying to protect him, only ends in failure, and then this boy comes by and saves him with barely any effort. You were rather jealous, and felt discredited, so you try to avoid Kei at all costs. Even just the sight of him walking by in the halls irk you.
And to your dismay, you are a little horrified to see that Yamaguchi had befriended him and is now constantly by his side. He’d asked you to hangout with him, and get to know Kei better, but you keep denying his efforts.
Meanwhile, the only thing Kei knows about you is your name, through Yams. But he doesn’t really know or care about you tbh, he’s got other things he’d rather be focused on, like volleyball.
THEN one day, Yamaguchi tells you that he is joining the volleyball team in middle school, and it would mean a lot to him if you go see Karasuno’s match with him and Kei.
You wanted to say no, but you love your relative, so you decided to go.
When you’re there, you never really spoke to Kei, only sticking to conversations with Yams. Then when you get to where the game is, you notice Kei’s awfully silent as he scans the court, not seeing his brother anywhere.
You wonder why he’s grown silent, but then when this one kid stalks over with a magazine in hand, saying that his brother is not even on the sidelines, you decide to shove the kid away because he’s being so annoying.
“Kei...let’s go.” You say, as you try to tug him away from the hood of his jacket. To your surprise, he follows you silently with his head down.
Tbh, you don’t really know the whole picture of what had happened, but he looks so down and vulnerable after the game, so you spent the rest of the day, trying to cheer him up with Yams.
Then the next day, you stop by his class during lunch to see how he’s doing, and is surprised to see that his demeanor had changed drastically. The sparkles in his eyes no longer there, as he ignores you when he steps out of homeroom.
That upsets you initially, but then you realize that whatever had just happened is probably a much bigger deal to him than his rude behavior just now. So you suck it up, and jog up to him, so you can walk to the canteen together, in silence.
He’s never expressed it, but your quiet presence is actually really comforting.
Then the next day, you do that again. And again. Before you know it, it became a thing for you and Kei to walk to lunch together. Sometimes, he’ll be the one to come over to your homeroom before you could go to his. “It’s nothing. My class just got out earlier, so I’m giving your lazy legs a break.”
Yamaguchi notices you and him getting closer over time, and it makes him very happy.
You begin to notice his subtle acts of thoughtfulness, such as when he’ll only eat half of his lunch so he can offer the other half to you; he knows you are absolutely in love with his mother’s cooking. It made you feel really bad because you don’t have a bento to offer him back; your parents are usually very busy so they don’t have time to pack you lunch, but you’ve been okay with that.
The fact that you love his mother’s cooking also got him feeling a little smug tbh.
Because of this, you’d try to cook something for your own lunch. But c’mon, you are just a 6th grader, unsupervised in the kitchen (lol), so you could only make something as simple as peanut butter and jelly HAHA.
So the next day, when it’s lunch again, and Tsukki offers you half of his food (Or more like, pretending that he can’t finish it and didn’t want to throw his food in the trash), you scramble to pull out your sloppily wrapped sandwich and offer the other half to him with a big grin.
It got him laughing at how ridiculous your sandwich looks, it’s not appetizing at all.
But just when you’re about to wrap it back up with a pout, he grabs it from your hand before smoothly sliding his food over to you. “This looks awful”, he’ll say as he takes a bite, getting some peanut butter on his cheeks.
You’re surprised he took it, and can’t help but feel a strange flutter in your heart when you see his ears redden, his gaze avoiding yours.
The next day, Tsukki shows up with two bento boxes, and hands one to you with a blush. “I told my mom about your awful sandwich, so she decided to make an extra bento.”
And when you are just standing there in awe at his thoughtfulness, he gets even more flustered as he shakes it around. “Do you want this or not?”
Of course you took it, and you are BEAMING when you eat. Tsukki can’t help but accidentally smile at how endearing you are. “Idiot.”
Yamaguchi also noticed that btw. So he’s got a plan haha ;)
Ever since that day, Yams would occasionally back out from hangouts or events just so the two of you can spend some alone time together.
You and Tsukki being smarties, TOTALLY notice Yams’ attempts. The first time you figured it out, awkwardness turns on like a freaking switch. Suddenly neither of you know what to say or do, because the idea of being matched is hella embarrassing.
But then you were like, “It’s not weird if you don’t make it weird. We also don’t have to acknowledge his attempts and treat this like the usual.” So at that, you go back to talking like usual.
Tsukki is definitely a lot softer when you are alone with him, he doesn’t tease you AS much and is very thoughtful.
Now that you three are in the same high school, Yams would still do that!! And he is low-key frustrated as to why his plans are working so slowly >:( Get yourself together guys, you clearly like each other!
When you had to buy a bunch of textbooks, Yams got you to go with Tsukki alone and he carried all your books haha. Even went to get your uniforms together, and you helped him pick his size.
You two are around each other all the time, and are very comfortable about it. Everyone in school think you are an item, even teachers and fellow parents. Hell, even your own parents thought you two had been dating since middle school. But no one really brought it up, because....well, it’s not like it’s an issue or anything, they’re all just happy you’re happy.
However, neither of you know that’s what the others had been thinking, so you’re a little confused when people keep asking you where Tsukki is, or when they do the same to him. Like, I’m not his parents, how am I going to know where he is all the time. You may think that, but you both ALWAYS know about each other’s whereabouts somehow lol.
Honestly, you two don’t even acknowledge each other’s looks or changes, when you see him, it’s just him and his sassy attitude you’ve grown accustomed to. Well...and his tall bum, cuz your neck starts to hurt a little more than it usually does whenever you look up at him. UNTIL....DUN DUN DUNNN
It’s Valentine’s Day, and different students all over campus are slipping love notes into lockers, some leave roses on their crush’s table, while female students are handing out their giri and honmei choco to their male friends and crushes.
It totally flew past your head that it is Valentine’s day, so when you walk over to your locker with Tsukki and Yams that morning (you always walk to school together and your lockers are right next to each other’s), you are surprised to see 6 love letters fall from yours.
You: 😳 Yams: 😦 (he’s still a heavy believer in you and Tsukki lol, so he’s worried about competition.) Tsukki: 😶
“I see you got some admirers.“ He says casually, turning to unlock his own locker. Little did you know, he’s trying to suppress his curiosity....and jealousy?? Who could it be? When did they put those letters in your locker. How creepy.
You turn to him, wondering if he also got some letters in his locker, and your heart sinks when he pulls out one, nonchalantly ripping the beautiful packaging with his thumb to read its contents. He flips it around in his hand, trying to see if it’s got a name on it, but there were none.
The entire time when you are in class, you can’t help but wonder who had sent Tsukki that letter. The fact that it was the only one, makes you a lot more nervous too. What if it IS the one...and why would you care so much if it is. You’d be happy for him....right?
Meanwhile, Tsukki’s thoughts are also occupied as he sits in class, by the window. Since when has Y/n been so popular. Will you spend time with him and Yams if you found someone? What about you is so attractive....oh....shit. YEA boy, you’ve ALWAYS been attractive, but he never noticed.
Then lunch rolls around, and you are waiting for Tsukki to meet you by your homeroom, since he’d mentioned earlier that he’ll be the one to swing by. But he never came...:(
And it’s not that he forgot. As he’s about to step out of his homeroom to go to yours, an unfamiliar feminine voice calls out to him, and when he turns around, a girl is offering him her honmei choco. 🤭 He’s SHOOK, but then he quickly realizes that she’s probably the one who slipped the letter in his locker.
Nice Tsukki activated, because I don’t think he’s actually MEAN mean, ya know? “Thank you.” He says, as he takes the chocolate from her with a neutral expression. “But I’m currently seeing someone.”
The girl looks to him with a sad smile, so close to the verge of tears. “That’s ok! I hope you’ll enjoy it though, thank you for being honest!” She says, quickly running down the hall. He felt bad, but he’s more confused about why he had said what he did. That was dumb, I’m not seeing anyone, he scolds himself, walking off to your homeroom while shaking his head incredulously.
When he gets to you, he feels guilty at the sight of you sitting by your homeroom, fingers fiddling sadly. “Why do you look like you’re in some emotional music video?” At the sound of his voice, you spring up to punch his abs jokingly, low key impressed at how rock solid they were haha. “What took you forever!! Did you have diarrhea or something?”
But he never responded, instead, opting to flick your forehead gently before walking off. “Some girl approached me, probably the one who slipped that letter in my locker.”
You let go of your forehead, instead feeling a hitch in your throat for some reason. When he didn’t hear your response, he stops walking. “But I told her I got you guys.”
Your face WARMS TF OUT, but you are hella happy, immediately bouncing up to him. “Is Kei finally willing to show his friends some love and affection?” You tease him as you burst out laughing. You’re sorry for the girl, but for some reason, you’re happy, happy to know that you are not going to lose him to somebody else.
Then during lunch, as Kei’s unpacking his boxes, handing one of his extra bentos to you, his face turns BRIGHT red when he notices this adorable packaging with home made chocolate in it. The note is written in his mother’s handwriting: For anybody your heart decides to give this present to! Love, Mom.
“Are you okay?” Yams asks as he peers over his shoulder, eyes widening when he sees what Tsukki’s been staring at for the past minute. You look over at them suspiciously, already chewing on some food in bliss. “It’s nothing.” He mumbles, quickly tying and setting the bag down. Ok, sus, but you’ll let it pass.
For the second half of his day, he can barely focus on school, wondering if you’d find it strange for him to give you those chocolates. But he’s also a little afraid to go home with it, fearing that he’d make his mother sad. He could eat it himself and lie, but that also feels wrong.
By the time he’s done with practice and is helping the team wrap up the gym, you poke your head in through the entrance with a smile. You also have your own after school club and it usually finishes a few minutes before volleyball practice does, so you make it a thing to walk home with two of your favorite boys.
Also, at this point, you go there all the time, so you’ve become well acquainted with the entire team. It would bother Tsukki how Noya and Tanaka always does some of the dumbest things to try to impress you, or the way the other members would cast longing glances at you, before returning to what they were doing. Even the third years can’t help but smile a little wider and stand up a little straighter when you greet them.
“I’m going to run to the restroom before we leave.” Yams says, when he notices the way Tsukki is fiddling with his headphone cord, constantly casting hesitant glances at you.
Screw it. Tsukki decides, when he’s finally alone with you again. This is my last chance. “Oi, idiot.” He says, tearing your gaze away from the bright moon and the stars that sprinkles the night sky.
There he is, with the chocolate in his outstretched hand, looking hella flustered. “T-Take it.” He stutters, mentally cursing at how embarrassed he is, he can’t even look you in the eye.
Your entire body warms, as you could feel a tingly sensation on your cheeks and ears, slowly reaching to grab the chocolate from his trembling hands, still at a loss for words.
“Kei...” You begin, but he quickly counters, looking away. “My mother made it.”
"Ah...” You respond quietly, suddenly feeling really sad because you thought he had feelings for you.
He notices the sadness in your tone. “And you’re ok, I guess.”
You remain silent for a moment, a smile slowly painting your lips, as you continue to stare at the tiny red box of chocolate in hand. Then he’s caught off guard when he feels your gentle fingers, timidly curling to the side of his large palm. He looks to you in surprise; it was too spontaneous for him to put his walls back up.
“I like you too, Kei.” You respond with a smile, that only widens when he shyly returns your gesture, long fingers curling over yours. “let’s share this! there’s three pieces in here.”
When Yamaguchi returns, the three of you share a piece, humming in delight when the deliciousness and richness of the chocolate lather your taste buds.
Earlier Stages
WHEEEW sorry the backstory was so long, I just think that’s one of the few ways I’d ever see a relationship with him form: through time.
And like any other aspects of your relationship, both in regards to intimacy and communication, it’s also going to take him some time to acclimate and adjust. He’s doing his best, everyday, mentally beating himself when he fails.
You know how harsh he can be to himself, so you try to cut him some slack by becoming more observant. Constantly teaching yourself to learn his micro-signs and sighing in frustration every time you misread him.
However, Tsukki notices your attempt, and is incredibly grateful. He’ll make things a little easier for you, because he can see how much it stresses you to do so. He’ll try to communicate more, eventually telling you how he feels, though he’ll admit, it does feel very awkward in the beginning. Overtime, you’re both helping each other grow in the communication department.
On days when you have no clue how to read him and is feeling overwhelmed, Akiteru is always there for you to consult! Well...it’s actually usually the other way around tbh.
That being said, you GOTTA be patient with him. He will be sassy, and he will be even sassier when you get into arguments, or when you’ve accidentally annoyed him.
However, because you’ve known him for a LONG time, you’ve learnt to translate his saltiness into kinder words haha. (kinda like what Hinata does with Kageyama lol)
You’re always by him, and apologizing on his behalf when he annoys someone.
However, if the person he’s accidentally annoyed expresses their hatred for him to you, you will always defend him because you know that he’s really great person and that his attitude is just a defense mechanism to prevent himself from getting hurt.
But there will be days when you really wish he could shed that wall and realize that he has friends and families who love him dearly and will support him no matter what. But you know that it’s not something that could happen over night, it’s just a wish that he would slowly walk down that path one day.
You are grateful though, so very grateful, because when Tsukki is alone with you, there is never a moment when he’d allow himself to put up that wall. He refuses, finally finding relief in relaxing his defenses for once, because it can get tiring sometimes.
In fact, all those walls that he put up, is probably the reason why he can’t really hangout around others for too long, he needs to be alone and recharge. So the fact that he’s able to relax around you, means that his “alone time” will almost always include you.
His eyes remain soft, as he always looks at you with a subtle glint to his golden orbs and an upward curve to his lips.
And when he laughs, he does so freely. Even Akiteru is surprised when he accidentally overhears it from his bedroom.
His mother still cooks you lunch, so whenever you’d go to his house for a study session, you ask her if she could teach you how to cook, and that made her SO happy. It becomes a thing now; you two would cook and sing along with one another in the kitchen before you excuse yourself to study.
His mother and brother loves you SO much. Sure, they’ve known you for a long time, because you and Yams would come over often and hangout, but it’s never been just you and Tsukki. So now that you’re together, they have the chance to chit chat with you alone.
You’re basically like a daughter to his mother, because let’s be real, as much as she loves her sons, she’s always wanted at least another woman in the house to hangout with.
When Akiteru visits home, he’ll bring some interesting comics or things for you to geek out about together. At one point, Kei even got jealous enough that he’d come join you guys by the porch, softly playing his music on the phone.
Speaking of music, he likes to create playlists and sends them to you. Whenever it’s just you and him on your way to the canteen together, he’ll offer you one side of his ear piece, so you can listen to music together on your way there.
You both take your relationship VERY slowly, and that’s perfectly fine. It took you over 2 months into your relationship to hold hands outside the comfort of your homes, and 4 to share your first kiss.
FIRST KISS 💋: It was during lunch break, when you and Kei decide to enjoy your meal at the roof of an academic building. Yams was busy with something else at the time, so he promises to join you a little later. The two of you are alone, ear piece in one ear each, with shoulders and knees touching, then suddenly, you feel an urge to shift your gaze to him. As if your minds are one, he did the same, but instead of feeling embarrassment from your sudden eye contact, you slowly lean to one another, like the ocean, magnetized by the moon, sharing the most innocent, gentle kiss, before pulling back to look into each other’s orbs. It was so gentle, like a breeze that tickles the bottom of your lips when you exhale. It was very nice.
Since that day, the two of you begin to experiment in private, like kissing a little more passionately when you catch him gazing at you again mid-studying. You even tried cuddling, and you LOVE it.
I can’t even begin to express how wonderful it feels like to cuddle someone tall (looking at you, Lev boi 😉), the way his long limbs drape over yours, big warm hands massaging your shoulders comfortingly as you breathe in the clean scent of his sweater.
However, cuddles don’t happen often, except for special occasions when you both feel extra needy or exhausted. He’s never really been a touchy person. Hand holding is fine, but constant cuddling just makes him feel like he’d rather be doing something else.
BUT, here’s the trick. If you request for some song recommendations, so he can play it on his speaker, while you crawl up to him on the bed, with your head on his chest, he’ll never be able to reject you. He’ll readjust himself comfortably, removing his glasses, before turning you sideways to face his chest, as he tucks his chin over your head, legs entwined. If this is the case, you can lay there for hours, listening to different songs until you fall asleep.
Loves it when you wear his oversized clothes, but will never admit it. You know he likes it because he always offer you his clothes when you come over, just so you can be comfortable while studying with him. (I’d never say no to that.)
Also likes it how his scent lingers to you, even when you change back into your school uniform so you can head home.
Just generally a big scent, kind of guy, He’s one of those people who ALWAYS smells good and has great olfaction. Whenever you smell a little like him, he WILL notice, and it always makes his heart flutter, as he stands up a little taller.
He’ll also walk you home from his house, no matter how late it is, and he will always make sure you’ve gone INTO your house, and hears your lock click, before returning.
Never understands why you always make him promise to text you when he gets home though, but he’ll never forget to do it.
Likes to lean on you jokingly, use you as an armrest, regardless of your height.
Whenever Yamaguchi jokes about how he feels like a third wheel, you’ll always joke back that Tsukki is actually the odd one here, cuz you are related haha. He’ll flick your forehead softly as your punishment.
Your pet names are always something endearingly mean, like “Idiot, sodium man, sassy pants, salt shaker 🧂, or four eyes.”
His teammates always tease him about you; honestly, they’re all very surprised that he’s capable of being in a relationship, but they’re happy for him. Daichi always has to shush them all down, because it can get a little out of hand sometimes with all of them bombarding him at once.
Long Term:
Post-honeymoon phase, babyyy.
Space, lots of space. You’re both very independent, and are introverts, so during the day, you’ll do your own thing, but he’ll meet up with you for lunch and dinners to spend some time together, in comfortable silence.
You’ve been leaving a lot of things at his house, so he neatly gathers it all into one corner of his room, so you can access it with ease when you sleep over.
Both your parents became best friends, so they’re totally cool with either of you sleeping over, even when it is a spontaneous decision.
You are comfortable to say “no” to one another, and that includes social gathering as well. If Tsukki is feeling too socially anxious to join you for a party, you’re totally ok with that, and likewise, when his team hangs out, he understands that they can be a little overwhelming sometimes.
But that doesn’t mean that you both don’t try. He mentally take notes of all the times he’s said no, and will only do it at times when he really do not feel like it. And if you ever feel like he’s been a little too distant, he wants you to tell him that directly, so he can avoid coming off that way.
Sass level increases overtime because he knows you can take it, lol.
Would totally do something like this to you, regardless of your height.
If you are smol, he will definitely do this too, and Yams will react the same way as shown. >>>>
You’ve grown immune to his sass, and may have adopted some. However, it’ll usually only come out in arguments. You’re still that nice approachable person, who deliver other people’s messages for him, to him (Because they’re too afraid to approach him directly.)
Definitely opens up to you more, if he hasn’t already been, because he knows he can trust you, and trust is a VERY big thing for him. This boy’s got some trust issues, yk?
He’s a little more adventurous now; it used to be so difficult to convince him to go somewhere new or exciting with you, but after years of pestering him to go places, he realizes, as he’s standing in the middle of a hike, lush green leaves surrounding him from all sides, that maybe this is not so bad after all.
You and Yams keep bringing new activities for him to try, and for 70% percent of those attempts, he actually says yes.
LOVES it when you give head massages, but he always complains that you are messing his hair.
Stargazing after dinner had become a routine for you. You’ll both lay, head to head, bodies the opposite direction, with your fingers interlaced next to each other’s heads. Sometimes, you’ll even drift off into a short nap, and he’s fine with that because your hand feels very nice in his.
Your presence had encouraged him to become closer to his family: you two will help his mother pack up and wipe down the table after dinner, while Akiteru washes the dishes. Sometimes, you’ll wave a curious Akiteru over to join you and Kei on horror movie nights. His mother even joined for 1 whole minute, before she leaves, saying that it’s too scary for her, leaving you three to throw some funny/judgmental remarks at how silly the characters are being.
He’s also a big supporter of your interests, though he will never admit or fully show that he is, if that makes any sense. For instance, if you are in the robotics team, he will educate himself on its process and some technical solutions and will help you build your robot at home. When you ask him how he knows about all this, he just responds with something like “I don’t know, I just guessed.”
If you are interested in something more performative, like if you’re into ballet, for instance, he will always show up to your performances with Yams (and Akiteru, because he really wants to see his future sister-in-law killing it). However, he’ll also respect your decision if you tend to feel more nervous with him there, in that case, he’ll just send you a text that says “You’ll do great. 🦖” or “Don’t fall on your bum 🤡” right before the show begins. It always makes you laugh when you read it in his monotonous voice.
You just know that he only uses emojis when he think his texts sounds unintentionally sarcastic or too short. lol. He’s just not too great at texting, ok?
When it comes to cheering for Tsukki, you share the same type of support. You’d LOVE to go to all of his matches, to be there for him and show how proud you are. But if he’s really uncomfortable, then you understand that too.
He secretly loves it when you go cheer him though, it really brightens up his match, especially when he’s in one with a tougher opponent. To look up to the sea of growing Karasuno supporters and see your smile shine brighter than all the others, restores his energy like the sun.
Somehow, Tanaka and Noya always notices when he turns to look at you, so they’ll both cling on to him like monkeys, turning to wave at you.
You gladly return their gesture, laughing at Tsukki’s miserable face as you pull your phone out to snap a very zoomed in photo of his pained expression to use as his new contact photo LOL.
“At least, I’m the one in a relationship.” He’ll deadpan, adjusting his frames before walking away quietly with a smug smile. RIP Tanaka and Noya, they’re just rolling on the floor crying for Kiyoko haha.
Also, he has this weird fascination for animals? Well, mainly with dinosaurs. BOTH Tsukishima’s has this fascination, it runs deep in their blood. Oh you prefer whales? Too bad, it’s not as cool.
Whenever Kei recommends some dinosaur-related movies, he’ll try to be low key about his excitement, but you can totally tell that, at this very moment, his body feels like a shell that’s trying to contain the vibration of his happiness. Saying no to his suggestion, will only shatter his little heart. You find this incredibly endearing, for a moment, he reminds you of his younger self, where he would always show up to school in his dinosaur T-shirts.
When you agree to watch it with him, Akiteru ALWAYS emerges out of nowhere, and invites himself to join you. You like to jokingly call them Tsukkisaurs, but Kei will be the only Tsukki to have that name saved in your contact.
We also love some asshole Tsukki moment ✨: He likes to call you Godzilla when you are on your period and is feeling bloated. You were a lil offended at first because, WHICH RENDITION OF GODZILLA is he referring to? It better not be the 2014 one, because it looked a little chubbier than the original.
He confirms, without hesitation, that it IS the 2014 rendition, just to piss you off lol. Then he shows you his phone, to confirm that he had you down as Godzilla on his contact, with this image as your profile:
But if you are actually feeling self conscious about your body that day, he will sigh and pull you to his chest. “Idiot, you look just fine to me, the way you are.”
And he meant it.
He may be inclined to appear indifferent and cynical at times, but he KNOWS you can see right through him. The idea of showing vulnerability to anyone at all, was daunting, but you embraced him with so much love and acceptance, he wishes that he’s proven his love for you enough.
And he has, you understand him so well. You appreciate all his subtle signs of affection and thoughtfulness, and you would never ask for it any other way. This is him...it’s who he is to you: your best friend and lover, perfectly imperfect in every way.

Chapter 139 + ending opinion
Okay..where do I begin, I already wrote something yesterday but now having read the English typeset I have come to this conclusion regarding the ending of SNK. (It’s a long post, may have some typo’s, which I will try to fix while editing the post)
Disclaimer: Isayama has my respect, even if I may not agree on all points I want to thank him for years of hard work and bringing us a beautiful story, that being said his story is not immune to criticism and so I will write this with my fullest and honest opinion. (Do not send Isayama or any of the voice actors and anime production staff any hate, if you didn’t like the ending that’s fine! But do not harass anyone else because of it)
Here goes:
Chapter 139, what can I say, even after reading it in English I cannot seem to like it.
Why? First of all, Ymir’s love…oh god I dreaded writing this but, her love it’s not comparable to Mikasa’s, that’s why I am unable to link the two, but at the same time I don’t see them as very different characters either. Let me elaborate, Ymir was a slave who had her whole family killed by king Fritz, had her tongue cut out and was impregnated at a very young age because she has the power of the titans, Ymir falling in love with him is nothing short of Stockholm Sydrome. Sure Mikasa being able to kill Eren and end it, was something Ymir couldn’t do but WHY and WHEN was Ymir ever in love with King Fritz…back to Mikasa, she let go of Eren, but in the end she really didn’t (Eren wishing she’d never move on came true). Yes you can mourn your loved ones for how long you want but, why did Isayama have to put her in a position where she is always tied to Eren, she never had her own character growth, because when we thought she finally let go of Eren, she returns with the scarf and ends up crying at his grave for the last 3 years (kind sounds like how Ymir started off wandering alone in Paths no?) regardless the EreMika built up came out of nowhere and it was to sudden for me to actually believe any of it. Opinions may differ but, it’s lackluster and well, to me SNK was never about romance, so this whole romance subplot was meaningless and shat on every character who died in this manga.
What also irked me is, Reiner’s character. SUCH A GREAT character, so much build up, so much amazing storytelling and he ends up not dying, nor sacrificing himself, no instead he ends up sniffing Historia’s letter… I still like Reiner but, this development went straight down the trash bin.
Also Historia having a baby, but why? We’ll never know. She supported Eren’s rumbling plan, but why? We’ll never know. Paradis turned into a dictatorship with fascist leaders, but why? Fuck it I don’t give a fuck.
But what I do wonder is, is Armin this naive? Does he think nations will just sign a peace treaty? No way, geopolitical relationships don’t work like that, look at the real world, we are constant war because people can’t set aside difference, now people want to tell me that after Eren stomped on 80% of the world’s population, they want to just be at peace? I don’t think so, especially now that Eldians no longer have titan powers, have zero advanced technology in weapons..Makes no sense.
The worm…wtf was it, why was it there, who stopped it and where did it go? It had a mind of it’s own and even after Zeke and Eren dying it still kept going so my question is, what was the purpose of introducing this shit and then not to further elaborate on it? Why did everyone have to turn into titans for them to turn back into humans in no time? Why not just take the sad route and have every shifter die and have Ymir reborn as a free girl, because I thought Ymir was shackled to paths because she couldn’t be a free human, that’s why the rebirth theory sounded so plausible, but now all Ymir is, is a Stockholm syndrome patient who was waiting to…..what the hell even happened to Ymir? Where’d she go, why did she leave, what was her fucking purpose in the end. You want to tell me that she put so many people and teenagers under stress because King Fritz wanted more women than just Ymir? Jfc.
Now to Eren, so we know Eren was always a crybaby and never fully mature to do what he did, but what the fuck was this chapter? Sure he loves his friends and wants them to be save but, how did you go from “I know what I need to do and this is why I must start the rumbling” to, “I don’t man, just felt like it, I love Mikasa and you all so I don’t want to die but I don’t know Ymir wanted this and I don’t know what Ymir wants”, like did Yams stop remembering his own story here?
Regardless, Eren dying is a good thing, he could not and should not be redeemed for mass genocide, I think we can all agree on this. But my whole issue is, why put the warriors, especially Reiner, through so much shit, when you started the whole massacre on your own. One chapter was all it took to butcher Eren’s persona, then again he was never my favorite so I couldn’t care less about him.
Another point, he says he will give everyone their memories back once he dies, they will learn about his plan. Sure, but why do Mikasa and Levi experience this? Is this the cause of their headaches? I don’t get it, wasn’t the whole plot that Ackermanns under no circumstance could be mind manipulated…so how the fuck did Eren pull this off? It just took that subplot and flushed it down the toilet.
ZEKE, the only man with an actual plan and he died for no reason, just like Porco, Marcel, Ymir, Marco, Erwin, Hanji, Shadis, Colt, Magath and every other character that died for no reason.
The ending to me feels like a bad EreMikaMin fanfic, it just left so many plot holes untouched and now we are left wondering wtf all the other 137 chapters were for.
To end this post, up until chapter 132 I really really really liked the story, after that I feel like Isayama just wanted to finish the story and just did what the shippers wanted and finished the story in a wholesome way without really tying up any loose ends. It’s a shame but, it is what it is.

4 - First Years' Apology Letters
“And… that is all for class today!” Your teacher concluded as the last bell was rung. As your class thanked her while shuffling through the room and packing up their things, you spot a bright orange from your peripheral vision.
You twisted your head to the door and found not two but four first years staring back at you. Hinata was smiling and waving as he walked towards your desk, Kageyama looked embarrassed as he constantly avoided eye contact with you. The other two first years were the most unexpected ones because they were here, at their own wills.
“Tsukki and Yams? Why are you guys here?” You asked as the four of them take seats around your table.
“I want to see how embarrassed and flustered the king would be to be writing an apology letter. Would he still try to restore his ego or not?” Tsukishima replied with a smirk as he crossed his arms.
“I just followed Tsukki along,” Yamaguchi replied timidly, looking away almost immediately until you remembered: despite being close to the volleyball team, the second years were the ones who had most of your attention and followed by the third years. You tried to mentally count in your head and realised that you barely interacted with them at all other than when you deal with volleyball matters.
“And I just realised,” you started. “I barely spend any time with any of you! This could be our first official manager-player interaction that doesn’t include volleyball!”
“Just the fact that if they can’t write this letter, they can’t play volleyball anymore,” Tsukishima commented, earning a grumble from Kageyama.
“Hey Tsukki! Be cooperative or otherwise, you can’t be here anymore,” you frowned. You turned around to face the troublemakers: Kageyama still had his head hung low.
“And you’re not like your usual self, Kageyama, what’s wrong?” You asked.
“He’s shy! He hasn’t interacted with you that much so that is why he’s like this!” Hinata intercepted earning a quick jab at the neck from the former.
“Oh no! No violence!” You quickly yapped, grabbing Kageyama’s wrist. “Okay let’s… let’s get back to our main issue for now: the apology letter. Do you guys have what you written?”
In union, they quickly dig through their bags and pulled out crumpled looking paper. Your eyes widen at the condition of the paper and realised that the paper was blackened from the constant erasing and writing over and over.
You picked up Hinata’s paper first and was baffled. This wasn’t an apology letter, this was a doodle!
“Hi…Hinata, why would you draw a smiling sun? And why is there only grass in one spot only?” You asked warily.
“That’s not the sun! That’s the vice-principal’s bald head! And that’s his wig!” Hinata grinned, pointing at the spot where you thought was grass. This earned another snort from Tsukishima.
“Stupid! Isn’t this an insult?” Kageyama commented.
You closed your eyes and took a deep breath. “W-what… what do you have then, Kageyama?” You asked as you picked up his equally crumpled paper. Your eyes scanned through the paper trying to find what he could have written that it nearly gave you a headache but you found it… a mere sorry at the corner of the paper, small enough to be missed by literally anyone. “And… and what is this, Kageyama?”
“An apology letter,” he replied quietly.
“How do you expect the vice-principal to accept this when he can’t even see that tiny looking ‘sorry’?”
“As expected from the ego of the king,” Tsukishima inputted earning another glare from the former.
“Okay… why don’t we start on a new piece of paper instead?” You asked, pulling two pieces of clean paper from your bag. “We can start off by addressing who this letter is for, shall we?”

Warnings- none
Masterlist
If Tsukishima wanted too, he could remember y/n perfectly. He vividly remembered the day he met her to the day she left him and Yamaguchi.
The last time he ever saw her was when they were eleven and she was standing in front of her empty house with tears streaming down her face as the two boys held her hands. He remembered her stupid purple overall dress that she loved.
“I’m gonna miss you guys.” She sniffled as she watched the last piece of furniture exit the house on the shoulders of the movers. For years she had grown up with the two boys and now she was leaving them without even an explanation.
“Promise you won’t forget us?” Y/n let go of Yamaguchi’s hand and hugged him tightly as the two softies cried.
“Of course not Yams. I’ll always remember you.” He nodded and wiped his tears away as she turned to Tsukishima who had yet to shed any tears but held a sad expression.
“You’ll make your way back to us right?” He said quietly causing her to fling into his arms and nod.
“I’ll always find my way back to you guys.”
But she didn’t. That was the last time they saw her. As the years went on they talked by phone and their parents sent pictures back and forth of the children until it suddenly stopped.
Y/n stopped returning cards, letters were never sent or recieved, and no sign of existence was to be found.
The boys took it hard. Yamaguchi cried at every little thing that reminded him of her for months while Tsukishima’s started to find himself moodier as time went on.
But as time went on y/n faded to the back of their minds as they did to hers. Soon enough they all were in highschool and rarely sharing a thought of the other one. Tsukishima had just assumed she either died or found new friends. Yamaguchi would cry everytime the subject was brought up.
“Tsuki! Look what I found.” Tsukishima sighed but walked over to the boy waving his arm around so they could walk to school.
“What is it Yamaguchi?”
“You remember y/n? From elementary?” Tsukishima scoffed. How couldn’t he? She was his first friend.
“Vaguely.” He lied through his teeth as the shorter freckled face boy pulled something out of his pocket.
“Well look!” It was a picture of the three of them as kids. Y/n had her arms around the two, just barely shorter than Yamaguchi, while they held onto her by the waist. Tsukishima had a small smile cracked as his cheeks were dusted pink from the close distance.
“You still have that after all these years?” Tsukishima said in an amused tone as they walked alongside each other while Yamaguchi grinned at the photo.
“Yeah i found it cleaning the attic last night. I found a bunch of old pictures and stuff.” Tsukishima chuckled as Yamaguchi went on rambling about all the pictures he had found.
“You know... I wonder what Y/n is doing right now.”
•••
“SATORI TENDOU DO YOU WANT TO DIE TODAY BECAUSE YOU’RE SURE ACTING LIKE IT!” A voice rang out down the hallway as a blur of a familiar red head flashed by, followed by a girl.
“SEMI SEMI! HELP!” Tendou shrieked as he hid behind Eita Semi, the mom.
“Y/n stop screaming down the hallways.” The sliver haired boy said calmly as she entered the gym and pointed accusingly at Tendou.
“HE STOLE MY JERSEY AND I HAVE A MATCH THIS WEEKEND!” Tendou gave a chuckle as he backed away from Semi who gave a glare.
“Now now y/n... you wouldn’t want to ruin yours and Semi Semi’s reputation by killing miracle boy Satori would you now?” He hid behind Goshiki who trembled but tried to maintain a confident approach.
“Semi!” Y/n whined as she pointed at the clock in the big gymnasium. “I have practice in a few minutes and I can’t enter the girl’s gym unless I show that I have it!” She huffed as she pouted with her arms crossed.
Normally, seeing the youngest ace of the prefecture like this was a rare sighting but for the Shiratorizawa’s boys volleyball team? This was their everyday y/n.
Y/n had met Tendou the second year she had moved and had immediately bonded. Over the years they had become like brother and sister and somehow Y/n managed to bag a spot in the same powerhouse school since y/n had gotten a scholarship for her athletic abilities to any school of her choice. Now she had originally planned with going to Niiyama until she realized that she could’ve easily gotten in there without a sports scholarship so she decided to go with Shiratorizawa.
“Here.” Y/n turned around and saw Ushijima towering over her average frame. He handed her a familiar maroon colored jersey causing her to grin and fist bump his awkward hand.
“Tendou I’ll see you after practice.” She said with a glare as he ran over to her and tackled her into a hug.
“Mhm mhm mhm we’ll see young kin.” Y/n rolled her eye and hugged him back before running over to her practice.
“Wakatoshi-kun! Why would you give it to her?” Tendou dramatically crumbled against the floor as Semi rubbed his temples at the sight.
“Give what?” Ushijima gave a small smile as he looked towards the door. “I only gave her your jersey.”
———————————————————————
Fun fact of the day: Tendou and Y/n met at the froyo shop where she, quite bravely, punched a boy in the face for making fun of Tendou creating their friendship

year six at hogsmeade
ho ho ho! Merry Christmas! This fic is for the @haikyuucreationsadm secret santa event! dedicated to @ichorizaki ! sol, I hope this gives you the warm fuzzies!
genre: fluff
warnings: none!
tags: harry potter au!, gn! reader, friends to lovers, yams is a lil over protective, fake dating (if you squint really really hard), yamaguchi’s pov !
a/n: no i do not hate the character i put as the slytherin (i’m not gonna spoil anything <3 teehee) i did it almost as an easter egg ...? like if you remember how yams reacted when he heard a certian thing come from his mouth,,,,,,, you’ll understand why- the clip was playing in my head on repeat while writing it lmao (super vauge ik but ah ha haa)
Both of your school capes sashae across the cold stoned floor as you two head to the one class you had together. The air was nippy; delicate flakes of snow danced around the sky until they landed on the ground. Yamaguchi hugged his books closer to his chest in hopes to ease the lack of warmth. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw you nuzzle into your silver and green scarf that was already bundled up to your nose.
‘Cute,’ he thought to himself- and when it comes to you, that word comes up in his head quite a lot.
Far from being his favorite class, Yamaguchi Tadashi had to get used to the defense against the dark arts course. It was very… out there for him in the beginning. By pushing his limits, it created a wave of self-consciousness that would wash over him, resulting in the feeling of incompetence. Thankfully you were there to encourage and support him, just as you had been since the day you guys met. It was something about your strength and determination- he learned that through the years when you had an idea, a goal, or a project in mind, you would see it through. It was so inspiring to young Yamaguchi, the little boy constantly cowering away from anything that seemed too much. He would constantly be picked on and could never speak the words that clogged his throat but then you came along with a single snarky remark to end all of theirs. There was no time between the moment he words left your lips and when your hand slipped into his- pulling him away from any sense of loneliness he would ever feel again. You were there for all the big moments, from when he first got his letter to him getting sorted into Gryffindor to him trying out for their quidditch team. You two had been absolutely inseparable and neither of you would change a thing.
Yamaguchi cherished walking to class with you- the way you fit so well in the environment… he just couldn't take his eyes off of you. His favorite version of you was in the winter because you just looked so much cozier. The dark colors of your house heavily contrasted against the bright sparkling snow that reflected natural light into the corridor. The pink that tinted the tips of your ears made his heart skip a beat. If it hadn't been for you stopping by the opened door way, he would have completely missed the entrance to the classroom because of his… observations. He motioned you go in first, your eyes crinkled in thanks as you stepped inside and he swears that you caused a heart palpitation.
It was your guy’s sixth year at Hogwarts and by far Tadashi's favorite Defense Against the Dark Arts course yet. The teacher, Remus Lupin, had such a way of teaching that it was not only fun and interactive, but also incredibly informative- the prime way for him to learn. He was so happy that Lupin’s tactics were sticking, this meant he didn't have to cling to you for help as he had previously; He was able to show you that he was capable of being strong on his own. Whenever you showed your delight at Tadashi’s progress, he only wanted to work harder.
“Hey so… after class, did you want to go to Hogsmeade and get something to drink from Honeyduke’s? It’s all snowy out and it’s the perfect weather for something warm and comforting.” You grinned as the both of you took your seats, conveniently across from each other, the only thing that separated you two was a slim isle way. Yamaguchi turned to you with a small smile curving his lips, “Yea, sounds good but just remember I have practice later so I can't be out too la-“ his last word was cut off by an obnoxious scoff from the keeper from the Slytherin quidditch team.
“That was supposed to be our practice, you know. Daichi snatched up our usual practice time.” Koganegawa Kanji said snottily, judgmentally eyeing Tadashi up and down before turning his gaze to you. Suddenly there was a different type of look in his eyes, a bright one that showed that he believed he could secure all sorts of things… including you. “Those Gryffindors think they can take whatever they want, but I know what we're going to be taking. The win at our next game… which just so happens to be against Gryffindor. You’re going to be there, right y/n?” He practically beamed to you as he kept side-eyeing Yamaguchi.
Before you could even answer- before he could even realize what was coming out of his mouth- your shy, kind hearted, wouldn’t-hurt-a-fly Tadashi rolled his eyes and said, “Yea they’re going, they’re going to be screaming out my name when I catch that snitch.”
Your eyes widened as you turned to him with your jaw slack, the sexual innuendo in the forefront of your mind but when facing your freckled best friend, it looked like he couldn't believe he was able to even speak up. Yamaguchi is not one for confrontation or someone who initiates fights… but when things come down to you, he acts in ways he doesn’t recognize- for painfully obvious reasons.
“You better watch that mouth of yours, Yamaguchi, or else i might just have to zip it up.” The Slytherin hissed, getting ready to reach for his want but stopped in his tracks when his gaze caught sight of a scruffy man in his mid 30’s standing behind the frozen Gryffindor, hands in his pockets and a brow raised.
“Now… I know you were not about to hex mister Yamaguchi inside of my class, right Mister Koganegawa?” Professor Lupin tempted, a small smirk danced on his lips with the unmissable glint of entertainment that twinkled in his warm eyes.
The professor didn’t give the boy a chance to answer, instead turned around and headed to the front of the classroom while saying, “Return to your seat Koganegawa, I expect whatever hex you were going to cast was going to be a naughty one. Well ironically, today’s lesson is focused on learning to reflect those nasty curses…” The whole class settled in for the lecture as Tadashi sneaked a peak at the reaction that had been plastered on your face- boy, was it a cute one. Both of your lips curled in with saucer eyes, cheeks tinted a faint red, as if you were holding back a laugh that was forcing its way out.
<♥︎>
After Lupin bid the class adue for the day, everyone went their separate ways; Tadashi held you close as you both headed to Hogsmeade, his arm draped over your shoulder as you leaned into him for warmth. The walk had been a comfortable silence until you spoke out your curiosity to break the ice, hitting him with the million dollar question.
“Hey, what happened back in Lupin’s class? That was.. odd.. of you to say.” You inquired. Normally when you catch Tadashi off guard or in a vulnerable state, a cute blush dusts along the apple of his cheeks and the tips of his ears. You knew you were robbed of the sight, the cold had beat you to it, a violent scarlet already bared his skin.
He let out a sigh, the breath showing itself in the cold, before he muttered, “I’m just tired of him openly ogling at you like you’re some toy. It’s not cool.”
You responded with a slight hum, the real reply bouncing off the walls of your brain: I can't believe we’re not together by now.
“Oh yams,” you chuckle as you huddle closer into his side.
<♥︎>
Passing under the grand Hogsmeade archway, he was grateful that there were barely any students about- this meant you guys could get your drinks faster and walk around the shops easier. With the antique green and pink building in sight, the beeline to the shop’s entrance was determined.
“Okay okay, let me guess…” you started as Yamaguchi held open the door for you to walk in, already eyeing the colorful treats that decorated the room, “you want a hot chocolate.”
“And you want a hot strawberry tea.” Tadashi retorted with a smile.
“It’s almost like… we’ve known each other for years.” You say, your tone dripping in sarcasm as he watches your finger trace over the newest candy they sold.
Sol, a sweet that’ll brighten your day! The container said, with a picture of what looked to be an edible ball of light. Supposedly, once it hits your tongue, it melts into the flavor you're craving most.
After inspecting the shelves around the store for any new and exciting treats, you both headed to the register where Tadashi placed the drinks order and fished out two golden galeons and five silver sickles. He snuck a glance at you admiring the brightly colored walls to make sure you weren't looking as he slipped the cashier the two packets of sol he stealthily grabbed and handed them three extra sickles. A sweet surprise for later.
Leaving the store, Yamaguchi watched the way your hands slipped around the warm cup, the tips of your fingers slightly intertwined. He wanted nothing more than to take your cup out of your hands and intermingle his fingers with yours…but he couldn’t, it would be crossing a line, wouldn’t it? Nevertheless, the image of holding your- probably- freezing hand was on his mind the whole time you two were walking around the village you knew all too well.
Deciding that it was pretty late you guys began to head back to the castle. The snow crunched underneath your boots with almost empty cups in your hands, you knew it wasn't going to take long before you’d be greeted by the back entrance of the castle. “‘Dashi… do you have to go to practice? I… i need help with Lupin’s coursework.” you stutter out, causing Yamaguchi to pause and turn toward you.
This took him by surprise, normally you were really good with your coursework, so for the roles to switch… something had to be off.
“ y/n... You know I can't. The team said they really need me there. Daichi would have my head if I missed practice. The game against Slytherin is so close and I really need to-” he cut himself off before he could reveal too much or get too annoyed, the flash of Koganegawa smirking flashed in the back of his mind.
“you need to… what? I saw your last game and the way you soared through the air was incredible, it didn't seem like you needed to work on anything!” you pouted with damn wide eyes.
Tadashi tried to ignore the slight increase in his heart's beating pace, “aha well..” he said as he lifted his arm to scratch the back of his head, “we’re a team and they need me as much as i need them!” you stopped walking so he turned to face you.
He watched the small sad smile creep onto your face before hearing you mutter, “Jeez, when did my Tadashi become so popular?”
For Yamaguchi to not lean in and plant a kiss on your lips, something had to be holding him back... but there was nothing- if anything, you seemed to slightly lean in.
He figured that you'd assume that the first move was going to be on your part, as it normally was when something serious would happen between the two of you but he wanted to prove to you that he's changed. He's not scared anymore. He has no reason to be. He’s learned so much about himself throughout the years because of you. You're the reason he was the social person he was today. And he was the one that finally connects your lips with his.
Due to the cold and dry winter, both lips are not as smooth as wanted but it doesn't stop him from deepening the long awaited kiss. He placed his open palms on your waist and his fingers gave you a small squeeze when he heard you sigh into the kiss.
When Yamaguchi felt your arms around his neck, he swore the world stopped turning for a second. The warmth that he was feeling was unmatched- this was warmer than any other winter coat had made him.
When he pulled away, your arms stayed around his neck and he refused to let his hands leave your waist.
“I uh-“ at this point Yamaguchi’s face was bright pink, yours being no different, “um I’ve wanted to do that for so long.” You said, cutting him off.
Tadashi had to blink a few times, as if he was clearing his vision because what he just heard wasn’t possible.
“N-no way…” he mumbled, looking at the ground next to you. Tadashi almost felt overwhelmed but one thing's for certain, the weight of needing to properly confess was only getting heavier so he gulped down his anxiety- as you had taught him so many times before- and brought his eyes to meet yours.
“Y/n… I’m so in love with you. I have been for so long-”
Something red wizzed before your guys’ eyes, cutting off his huge confession. His eyes became wide at the hovering letter facing him.
A howler.
Before you could even raise an eyebrow, the letter opened itself in the shape of an origami mouth.
“Yamaguchi, YOU ARE LATE FOR PRACTICE! WHY? WHAT COULD BE SO IMPORTANT THAT IT’S CAUSING YOU TO MISS PRACTICE?” the letter with daichi’s deep voice boomed around the empty of the woods. It began to look around, as if it could see the surrounding area- which was weird because typically howlers were only used to relay a (very loud and disappointed) message. When the envelope eventually faced you, the bottom of the mouth dropped and seemed to gulp.
“Ah.. i see.. Hi y/n… um,” the letter turned to face Yamaguchi before reminding him to go to practice and ripping itself apart.
It was silent for a second, neither of you knew what to say.
“I dunno but it almost sounded like Daichi wanted me to go to practice.” was the first thing he said. He watched your face contort from a small smile to a full out grin joined with a hearty laugh.
“Let's get you to class ‘Dashi.” you said as you wound down from your laughing fit. Holding out your hand, the expression you gave him was one that he never saw from you before. The corner of his eyes crinkled with how genuine he was smiling as he took your hand, finally getting to entwine your fingers together as you guys headed to the quidditch field.
Ps. yes you did scream out his name when he caught the snitch- it didn't go unnoticed...

Radio Decameron |1.16.21 & 1.23.21
Secret Radio | 1.16.21 & 1.23.21 | Hear it here.
1. Sylvain Sylvain - “I’m So Sorry”
I never feel right saying “RIP” or “rest in peace” about an actual human being who is no longer with us. But I will say: I hope Sylvain Sylvain died content with the music he made and the life he lived.
2. The Honeydrippers - “Impeach the President”
And ideally, then we would never have to hear from or talk about that accursed criminal ever again. We recorded this section before the inauguration — may we never forget how ALL 50 STATE CAPITOLS plus the US Capitol itself were being guarded against attacks by American citizens on that day — and shit was tense there for many days. As of this writing, things are… unviolent. It feels like a lull to me, honestly, rather than, say, all that stuff being in the rearview. It is not.
But meanwhile, check that beat out!
I love how Roy Charles is trying to convince them to stop demanding, but they just keep insisting. This song is brilliant, and the playing is — c’mon now — unimpeachable.
3. Niagara - “Tchiki boum”
We heard this song in the film “Perdrix,” known as “The Bare Necessity” in the version we saw via SLIFF. They’re dancing in a club to this, and it’s just a really distractingly good song for the scene.
- C.K. Mann - “Mber Papa”
We just recently learned about Essiebons by learning that he passed just this August. He was a producer of legendary status to a lot of people. Listening around his music we came upon C.K. Mann and this righteous track, which Essiebons produced. I think this is a pretty ultra track, really. Every instrument really kicks it out. I hope Essiebons died happy.
4. Rocky Horror Picture Show - “Hot Patootie / Bless My Soul”
New president, feeling kinda upbeat and hopeful. Really just starting to feel the tips of my soul from where it’s been getting singed. It’s going to take a long time to scab over what happened to us all over the last four years. I’m so fucking glad he’s gone that it makes me really love that rock n roll!
5. Moon Unit & Frank Zappa - “Valley Girl”
Tell you what: we watched the movie “Zappa” recently as part of a film festival, and I highly recommend watching it at your earliest opportunity. It is absolutely for people who do, and for people who do not, love his music. He shows up as a really interesting character throughout his whole life. The film skips through his songs with amazing speed, which actually works really well in his case. This song is with his daughter Moon Unit, who actually slid a handwritten note under his door introducing herself by name and saying that she wanted to collaborate on a project. They did this, and while Zappa was in Europe, Moon Unit brought the acetates to KROC and the song became an instant hit for them. Meanwhile he was writing for multiple orchestras.
6. Jacques Dutronc - “Sur Une Nappe de Restaurant”
This is totally not how I tune my drums, but I love how Dutronc’s drums sound in every song. I mean, the whole band of course, but there is a physical space both in the drum part as written and in the recorded texture of the whole that is just deep and wide.
7. Nyame Bekyere - “Medley: Broken Heart / Aunty Yaa / Omo Yaba (Nzema)”
This is another discovery via Essebiens, who released it on Essiebons Enterprises. It’s such an intense track! The cover artwork is by K. Frimpong, who plays a crazy Cuban guitar style on his own albums.
8. Ros Serey Sothea - “Tngai Neas Kyom Yam Sra (Today I Drink Wine)”
This is a voice, and a cast of characters, I can’t stop thinking about. This is from “Cambodian Rocks Vol 1,” which is full of great recordings. Her voice could shatter glass, and it’s so skillfully wielded — I’d love to hear her in a face-off with Frankie Valli.
- There’s a moment from Paige’s phone archives of a little George and Isabelle aching to ride rides at the Millstadt homecoming.
9. Les Poppys - “Isabelle je t’aime”
These young boys singing collectively about their — collective? 17 individual? — love(s) for Isabelle is even more innocent in video format:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o618mlIaR7E
- more C.K. Mann - “Mber Papa”
10. The Jam - “In the City”
This song makes me miss the city so much! It sounds like everything we really can’t get up to right now. I feel like this song helps me feel like I’m walking fast under streetlights.
11. Bruno Leys - “Maintenant je suis un voyou”
This 7” from Born Bad is so incredible! Bruno Leys worked on just a few songs with a band that included a guy named Emmanuel Pairault who plays parts on an instrument called the ondes Martenot, a super early, very eclectic and ungainly electronic instrument. The fact that he could actually compose music of any kind on it was considered remarkable. The fact that he was able to write such incredibly expressive parts to thoroughly filigree the choruses is what amazes me.
This band recorded four songs, then Bruno Leys left for his military service, and when he came back it was all completely over — the catalog was sold, everyone was scattered. Four songs.
12. Sleepy Kitty - “Nothing = You”
I’m pretty sure this song was essentially our response to our own growing fascination with French pop. To me it sounds more French than American in texture. We played this song with the Incurables once at The Pageant in STL and it was especially glorious. I think of that moment — Kevin Bachmann harmonizing flawlessly with Paige, four different guitars ringing through the chords — every time I hear this track.
13. Plastic Bertrand - “Pogo Pogo”
I don’t know why or when “Ça Plane Pour Moi” became the one French pop song that Americans are likely to know, but it’s a total banger so I have no complaints. It turns out that pretty much all of his songs sound very similar — one-note melodies in the verse, cool vocalese hooks in the chorus, and super-driving guitar parts throughout. Turns out that’s a formula we totally dig!
14. Os K-rrascos & Vanessinha Do Picatchu - “Bochecha Ardendo”
For whatever reason, a variety of Brazilian music seemed to be the very hottest stuff to be found in Chicago’s art-school party nights, and I remember losing my mind to some heavy Brazilian rhythms that just kept folding over and over on themselves while staying so impossibly funky that the whole night just turned into a deep-green-and-dark orange smear of a late-night winter warehouse dancing and sweating and then way, way later, walking home steaming along a cold sidewalk on a tree-lined street.
- Eric Dolphy - “Hat and Beard”
15. Von Südenfed - “The Rhinohead”
I feel like no one in my zone talks enough about how awesome Von Südenfed is. I mean, we only know this one album, but it’s so fascinating — a band where Mark E. Smith is contributing but not in control, and on purpose. He shows off his pop chops and gets to be a whole different character in this one place, while the Mouse on Mars guys get to play new characters themselves. It feels like it’s related to “Extricate” in how it’s constructed, but the music doesn’t sound like something any version of the Fall has made.
16. Fischer-Spooner - “The 15th”
A friend of Wire is a friend of ours.
p.s. Paige here, they went to SAIC (before I arrived) but they were super famous to all of us in the dorms.
17. T.P. Orchestre - “Pourquoi Pas?”
The depths of this band just continue to amaze us. We’re waiting on some T.P.O.C. vinyl right now, featuring mostly songs we’ve never heard, and the everlovin’ post office is misdelivering it BACK to France even as I write this. It’s driving us totally nuts.
18. Nina Simone - “Mississippi Goddam”
The hardness of her voice, the hardness of her experience, the hardness of her words.
19. Fanny - “Blind Alley”
I don’t know who first put this in front of my eyes, but it was a few years ago. The video is so basic — they’re performing in front of a video-psych effect — but the performers themselves are just so absorbing. And the production is so heavy, it feels legendary.
20. Manmadha Leela soundtrack - “Kushalamena”
I think we first saw a colorful glimpse of this song before we heard it. Paige automatically starts dancing a little dance as soon as “Kushalamena” comes on.
This I think came from the “Now Playing” group I’m in on FB: a guy was holding out a picture of the cover of this album and said he’d bought 40 more like it and he LOVED EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. He just wanted to see if anyone knew anything more about them. I did my best to hear the album he was showing. I think this is it. I think he’s right to be super jazzed about it, we just want to hang out with him and listen to all those records.
21. Francis Bebey - “Je vous aime zaime zaime”
Paige was working on her pronunciation and when to use the ellision — the z sound for the s letter, depending on what comes next — and he said something about, “Unless you’re Francis Bebey and you’re singing ‘Je vous aime zaime zaime.” And she said, “Francis Bebey? I know Francis Bebey!” and he said, “No, you’re thinking of another Francis.” But we all know the truth. This was our introduction to the song though.
- Jack Teagarden - “I Guess I’ll Have to Change My Plan”
Paige was looking for the Fred Astaire & Jack Buchanan version from “The Bandwagon,” but found this great instrumental trombone-forward version instead.
22. Pono AM - "Good Vibes"
This is one of those things you see every once in a great while when you’re playing clubs in a music scene — a band hits a natural home run. They just have an undeniably appealing crowdpleaser of a song that they wrote, and everyone flips out when they hear it. We salute Pono AM for writing this perfect song. They enrich the STL music world. My only advice to them was to never get tired of it or take it for granted.
Paige: We took their band photos at our space on Cherokee Street, for an RFT article. I was impressed because they arrived with matching shirts that still had the tags on them, and it was really exciting to see a new band on the scene who was really good and also putting in the effort to be graphically interesting. We believe that stuff counts. All of their shows, if you got there early, you’d see all of the band members blowing up as many balloons as they could, so there would be balloons bouncing around their set for the whole show, and it made it even better.
23. Sir Victor Uwaifo And His Titibitis - "Iranm Iran"
Analog Africa has a new album! It’s called “Edo International,” and it shows off a whole other side of Beninese music that isn’t T.P. Orchestre. I think of T.P. Orchestre as just a giant force in Beninese music, but then this comp comes out showing so many other roots of Benin City’s highlife-funk scene. Victor Uwaifo was a Nigerian guitarist who returned to his hometown in Benin City and built Joromi Studio. The sound he put together at that place, via his own bands and others’, came to be called Edo Funk.
24. Laughing Man - "Brilliant Colors"
This is a tape of one of the artists of one of the group houses that we always would stay at in DC. Benjamin Schurr runs a tape label and it was always such a treat getting the new batch of Blight. releases for the van soundsystem when we’d roll through town, or one of his bands would tour through St. Louis. They were always interesting stuff and a wide range of sounds and styles.
We first met Brandon Moses when he was on tour with Paperhaus in St. Louis. I think it was his birthday, too. He didn’t tour a ton with them. Laughing Man was our first time hearing him front songs. We always enjoyed staying with Erik and Benjamin and Brandon and enjoyed sharing that green power juice that Brandon gave us — really powered us up for the next drive.
- Bembeya Jazz - “Petit Sokou”
I have felt love for this song for awhile, but Josh Weinstein recently sent a video of the band actually performing this song and WOW, it is hypnotizing. The outfits, the instruments, and the expressiveness of the guitar playing are all so vivid in black and white: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpZVF_kKUJ4
25. Maxime le Forestier - “San Francisco”
Our thanks to Paige’s French instructor for showing us this song. Paige’s version is well worth hearing too, I must say: https://www.instagram.com/p/CKhJfqDDe2q/
p.s. Paige again, if you want to see the dragon birthday card that Evan made, here it is!

Confession Gone Wrong
Pairing: YamaguchiXReader
Words: 1K
Summary: You work up the courage to confess to Yamaguchi, but due to a misunderstanding it doesn’t really go as planned...
A/N: Sassy Yams is a very good boi that gets overlooked. however, anxiety ridden cannot handle social situations Yams is also a good boi... so why not have both amirite?
Masterlist
Everything was absolutely fine.
You tightened your grip on your backpack straps while weaving through the halls, chewing the inside of your cheek in an attempt to calm your raging nerves. Your eyes scanned the labels above door frames as you searched for the classroom that Yamaguchi would soon rush out of. They finally landed on 1-4 and your heart started pounding.
You took a steadying breath and reminded yourself that Yamaguchi was literally the nicest person you’d ever met. You once watched him apologize to a student who spilled chocolate milk on his uniform even though they bumped into him-until Tsukishima came and scared the guy away. So, you knew that even if he didn’t feel the same way Yamaguchi would turn you down in the nicest way possible.
That didn’t stop your hands from shaking when you weren’t holding onto your backpack.
When you finally spotted his dark hair above the crowd you forced your legs to pick up their pace; if you were going to do this it had to be while your rehearsed speech was still memorized. You accidentally bumped shoulders with another first year in your rush, but ignoring their insults you reached Yamaguchi, tugging his sleeve to garner his attention.
He looked over his shoulder, puzzled by the interruption, but smiling brightly when he spotted you. “Hey, (Y/N). Is everything okay?”
“Yeah! I just…” You glanced around to the hall still filled with loitering students. “I was actually hoping we could talk somewhere more private?”
Yamaguchi stared blankly before he sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “You too? Really?” He gave you a once-over and groaned. “I should’ve known.”
“Should’ve known what?” You cocked your head to the side, beyond confused by the reaction. Out of your long list of responses fed-up hadn’t been on it.
“That you were just another fan.”
“A… what?”
“I have to get to practice,” he held out his hand, “is there a letter or something?”
“Oh,” you slid your bag off your shoulder, digging around its contents for the note you’d spent too many weeks crafting. “I was hoping we could talk a little too but-”
“Look, you’re the fourth one this week, so I’d rather we keep it short.”
Your actions slowed as you processed his statement. He’s already gotten three confessions this week? That was… unexpected. Wait, was it bad that you assumed he didn’t get a lot of confessions? You of all people knew he was a great guy, so maybe you just hadn’t heard about them or something.
“Right… That makes sense, I guess.” You furrowed your brow, still a little lost at the unexpected turn of events.
“I mean, people are fawning all the time so it’s pretty obvious.”
Your face scrunched at that statement. You definitely hadn’t noticed people following him around… were you seriously that blind? You hesitated before offering the envelope to him.
“If you really don’t want this then maybe I should-”
“It doesn’t matter to me,” Yamaguchi rolled his eyes as he plucked the paper from your grasp. “But just so you know Tsuki rips these up the second he gets them.”
You stared blankly at him as he looked indifferently down at your envelope before turning around. You blinked several times, his words washing over you while the interaction raced through your mind.
Oh.
“Wait,” you took a few steps forward. “I don’t think you-”
He spun around with wide eyes and a blush lighting up his freckled cheeks. “My name’s on this.” He lifted the envelope to show you your writing. “Why is my name on this?”
Your lips quirked into a half-smile, “because it’s for you?”
His panicked eyes flickered between you and the envelope while a hand slowly rose to his forehead. “This isn’t for Tsuki?”
You shook your head.
“You were giving it to me?”
“Yep.”
“Oh no,” he looked everywhere that wasn’t your eyes. “I’m so sorry. That wasn’t-I didn’t-If I knew I wouldn’t have-Oh no.”
“It’s okay,” you said as an amused smile spread across your face. “I was just kind of confused.”
“People don’t normally…” He looked away and shuffled between his feet. “They’re usually for Tsuki.”
You felt warmth flooding your cheeks as you tapped the envelope in his hands. “Well, I’d prefer when you read about being kind, hard-working, smart, and having a cute smile you would know it was about you and not Tsukishima.”
“That was-I don’t-thank you so much… for that,” his shoulders lifted to his ears and a dopey smile covered his face. “You also are very much… all those things.”
“Thank you,” you chuckled and raised an eyebrow. “So… Is that good?”
“Oh! Yes.” He waved the letter. “I have practice, but I’ll read it. Then we can talk tomorrow? Or whenever you want, like, I’m cool with whatever cause I’m great at talking. So good at it. Like, I know a lot of things to talk about. Pokemon? Expert right here. Not so much about aviation though so maybe we should avoid that but-”
“Tomorrow is good,” you nodded, saving him from further ramblings. Yamaguchi gave thumbs up and you bit your bottom lip to stop the huge smile threatening its way onto your face.
A smile grew on his face before he glanced at a clock above the classroom door and his eyes widened. “I need to go. We’ll talk. We said that. I’ll leave.” He furrowed his brows before lifting his hands, moving his arms around awkwardly before settling on raising a hand for a high-five.
You stood confused for a moment before high-fiving him. He quickly pivoted around, and as he walked away you watched him glare down at his hand in betrayal. The sight sent your heart into a frenzy and you let out the dopey smile you’d been fighting.
As you left the school there was a literal skip every few steps from the happiness leaking out through your feet. You glanced at the hand Yamaguchi had lamely high-fived and a smirk snuck it’s way to your lips. That had been the weirdest confession you had ever thought possible with Yamaguchi, but if you were being honest…
You kind of liked it.
Hopefully, you’d get to be seeing more of it the closer you both got.

***Loosely Edited/Proofread***
~~~~~~~~~~~~
It had been a long winter. A winter that had many, many problems. Problems that began with the fishing quantities and went on to a lack of resources in the harvest to divide adequately among the tribe. It was a winter for the books, and your husband, the chief of the Jabari was the one everyone looked to not only to solve the problems but calm everyone’s worries. It was a big job for one man, a job that often required long hours, sleepless nights and countless trips away with his men. So, what did that mean for everything and everyone else? Loneliness.
It was now April; the snow and ice had melted, and the days were longer with more and more sunshine. Though the days were warmer, your nights were still chilly, even more so because your husband, the Chief, spent many of them working. It seemed there had been no time to rest. After the complex winter months, the grueling spring ones were upon you now. Crops needed tending; each family within the tribe needed their own attention from the Chief and Chieftess, diplomacy needed to be handled delicately, especially now when the big city and those of the Jabari were forging a new path—a united one.
M’Baku was gone every morning before you woke and in well past when you went to sleep, no matter how hard you tried to remain awake for him, it never worked out in your favor. You even tried to steal moments with him throughout the day in between each of your engagements. All that equated out to be were slight hand grazes, longing gazes, and near kisses. Every time you glanced at him you could see a storm brewing behind his deep soulful eyes. You didn’t know if it were from all the stress he was under, or perhaps he’d grown tired of you.
You’d been married for barely a year now. You’d expected the embers of love and desire to still be burning brightly, but it was not, and you didn’t know why. Before you married, you’d heard quite the rumors of your chief’s appetite for all things amorous. Many of the unwed women whispered among each other of the tales they’d heard of his stamina, his technique, and even his preferences. From those rumors you’d gathered he was a passionate man who enjoyed pleasure thoroughly. When you married, you worried you wouldn’t be able to satisfy him because of your inexperience and shyness, but he was kind to you, took his time and taught you many things. You’d begun to think it was you. Perhaps he’d grown tired of teaching you and wished for a woman—a wife who could please him properly. Those thoughts worried you.
Sighing, you walked into your Chieftess quarters and closed the heavy sliding wooden doors behind you. You pressed your back to the door, closed your eyes and tried to center yourself. It had been an exceptionally long day, and it wasn’t even over; it was barely close to sundown. You shouldn’t have been hiding out, but you were. This was the first free moment you had to yourself all day. Just as you felt yourself relaxing there was a knock. “Hanuman!”
The knock came again, and you opened the door to see your most trusted friend on your detail, En’eyea. “I am sorry for the interruption, Chieftess; I have a message for you.”
“A message? From whom?” She held out the folded paper. On the outside of it was the seal of your husband. It was such a formal way for him to send a message to you. Usually, he would send any messages that were not private through word of mouth through one of your maids, or even a simple note. This was not simple. You took the paper.
“Thank you, En’eyea.” She nodded and bowed her head to you before she backed away and walked down the hall. Staring at the paper for far too long, you rolled your eyes, broke the seal that held the image of the great gorilla god, with the intricate and elaborately crafted letters “M” and “J.” it was his seal no doubt, even it demanded respect and asserted power. As you opened the note you recognized M’Baku’s handwriting.
Sithandwa,
I wish to see you this evening. When the sun disappears behind the great mountain, come to the Waterhouse.
-M’Baku
It was direct, not an ounce of affection in it besides his nickname for you. You stood there reading and re-reading the note allowing your thoughts to run away from you. Before you knew it you were more than fifteen minutes late for your next obligation.
As you hurried there, you tried to focus on the task at hand; this was your pet project. You’d worked hard to bring together all the female members of the tribe. You wanted each and every one of them to know they served a higher purpose than cooking, cleaning and taking care of their men. You’d established opportunities for them to learn more than others thought they should. You’d fought long and hard with your husband to do it. Now every woman of the Jabari could learn and practice anything they wished. You sat with the women and listened to them all, and it was enough to take your mind off of what your husband could possibly want to see you about.
When the last of the group left the room, you saw the sun had just about disappeared and created a dewy glow across the sky. It was like one of his paintings that hung in your martial chambers. Excusing yourself, you dressed in your furs. While it was April, once the sun disappeared there was a slight chill in the air, and the path to the Waterhouse was higher in the mountains which meant the breeze was stronger. Once you walked outside of the palace you followed the torch-lit path through the village. As you passed tribe members they all graciously nodded their heads to you and even saluted you showing their respect. Before you were the Chieftess, they all knew you and your family; they’d seen you grow from a child to a woman. You were not a stranger to the tribe.
Once you made it to the great mountain and you began your twelve-minute walk to the Waterhouse and enjoyed the beautiful views of Wakanda at the same time. It was perfect, and you could not imagine being anywhere else on Earth. As you neared the mountain you saw a trail of flowers begin, and your feet stopped looking around you. Not seeing anyone around, you continued wondering what was going on. When the gate to the Waterhouse was in sight the trail of flowers turned yellow and red, the colors of the flowers from your wedding day to M’Baku. You bent down and took up a few petals and examined them. They were, in fact, the same flowers. Your heart began to beat rapidly. Once you stopped at the gate you took a few calming breathes and walked through it.
The courtyard of the Waterhouse was a favorite of yours. It always reminded you of a serene garden no matter the time of year. In the winter, it was snow-covered with crystal-like icicles and winter flowers of blues and gold. In the spring it had sprigs of green grass growing from underneath the cold earth, and green leaves beginning to sprout from branches with red and yellow flowers as far as the eye could see. In summer it came alive with an abundance of colors, smells and sounds, and fall was when the air carried the fragrant smells of purple flowers across the mountains down to the tribal lands.
The red and yellow flower trail continued to the door of the house, and before you pushed it open you noticed the slight tremble of your hand. Once you did, you stepped inside and looked around the familiar surroundings. This was a place that was meant for the Chief and Chieftess, but M’Baku opened it up for all of the tribe. The therapeutic waters and transcending views worked miracles on the body and the mind. You slowly walked through the house along the flower trail to the door when it stopped. Opening the door, you saw your Herculean built husband standing before a stone tub with nothing on but his tribal wrap around his waist. It sat just at his hips, giving you the mouthwatering sight of just how much muscle he’d added over the winter.
Where some men added extra pounds during winter to keep warm, your husband added muscle.
“Intaka encinci entle.” You smiled at the term of endearment. M’Baku held out his hand to you, and without hesitation you crossed the wooden floors to him. Once before him, you placed your hand in his. M’Baku lifted it to his lips and grazed a soft kiss across your knuckles. You unfolded your hand and caressed the soft skin of his cheek.
“Othandekayo,” you whispered.
“I am sorry.”
“What are you sorry for?”
“It has been many months since I have been a husband to you. It has been far too long since I have shown you just how precious you are to me sithandwa,” M’Baku spoke with his forehead pressed to yours. Your heart soared hearing his words especially since your day was spent worrying he felt the opposite for you. A tear slid down your face. M’Baku pulled you back and watched it drip from your jaw.
“Uyakhala. Yintoni sithandwa?” His thumb brushed across your cheek, drying the salty substance.
“I am sorry, my love.”
“Tell me what I have done.” You crashed your body to his and pressed your cheek onto his bare chest. The sound of his heart pounding was just what you needed.
“Y/N, ndiyacela.”
“It is nothing, my love. I just feared you had tired of me, feared you no longer loved me.”
You heard his heart slow before he pulled you back to stare deeply into your eyes.
“I could never. Hanuman as my witness, my love for you shall never fade, and my desire for you is relentless. It has killed me not to be able to have not even one day to show you. I am endlessly sorry. Intliziyo yam iyakulangazelela.”
You could see the passion and heat behind his eyes, and it made your skin prickle with goosebumps. M’Baku’s lips dropped to yours and softly kissed you with an increasing intensity that sucked the very air from your lungs. When he pulled back you gasped for the lost air as his lips connected to your neck and peppered kisses down to your shoulder. M’Baku’s fingers deftly unlaced and unfastened the garments on your body. One by one each layer fell to the wood floor until you were naked before him. His gaze slowly traveled across every inch of exposed flesh then you heard him suck in a breath.
“Ukumkanikazi wam omuhle.” He dropped to one knee before you.
“My king, what are you doing?”
“Bowing to my queen—my only.”
You smiled and dipped down to claim his lips in another heated kiss. As M’Baku rose to his feet, he lifted you in his strong arms and held you against his heated body. Before you knew it he was allowing you to slide down into warmed water.
“Allow me to make amends, my wife.” He dropped to his knees beside the tub and gathered the fabric along with the bar of soap and began making a lather. When the cloth swiped along your arm up to your shoulder it left a fragrant path of luscious suds in its wake.
Slowly he bathed you taking care to wash every area of your uniquely, curvaceous body. As his hands slowly traveled across your skin you noticed his eyes never left the path of the cloth he held. With every passing minute you could tell what he was feeling. You knew what he wanted. When his eyes met yours you nearly came undone right there.
“Stand for me, my chieftess.” You stood in the water, and the soapy trail slid down your body. M’Baku watched each bubble on its race to rejoin the water around your shins. His tongue snaked out and across his bottom lip. Gathering both hands filled with water he stretched onto his knees and released the cascade onto your body.
“You are so beautiful. Every inch of you, I have longed for this view for more nights than I can ever explain. His hands slowly descended your body, beginning at your neck then across to your breasts. He then gently cupped them and kneaded your flesh.
“I worship at your feet, my love. Every inch of you. Your skin is like spun honey and sugar with the grace of the purest silk.” His hands dipped across your stomach then over the full swell of your hips. M’Baku pulled you to him, and he bit onto the flesh of your belly. You hissed at the sudden slight pain. It was only momentary pain though, M’Baku’s lips were there to soothe it instantaneously. Your hands connected at the back of his head and then you felt his lips trail to your pubis. Your head fell back when you felt his lips kiss the most intimate part of you.
“M’Baku,” you whispered. It was his encouragement, an encouragement he willingly obeyed and delved his tongue between your folds. Your moans were the only sound in the great room.
Just when you were getting weak in the knees, M’Baku quickly stood claimed your lips and scooped you out of the tub before he was walking again. When you pulled away to see where he’d taken you, you saw you were in another room with a large white mat across the center. You looked to M’Baku for any clue as to what you were doing here and what he had in store. All he did was smile.
“Uyandithemba sithandwa sam?” You studied his eyes and nodded your head.
“With all that I am othandekayo,” you responded.
He smiled, kissed your nose, and walked you to the mat then lowered you onto it. Once you touched it, you recognized it didn’t feel like a regular carpet or mat. It felt textured, similar to his canvases. “What is this, M’Baku?” When you looked to him he was walking away to the opposite side of the room. You took the time to admire his frame. Your husband was the most beautiful man you’d ever laid eyes on. When he turned to look at you, you could tell he knew it. A cocky smirk decorated his lips as he walked back to you with a trey in his hands. Once he was again by your side he placed it down and stared at you. Your belly flipped, and you smiled, feeling a little embarrassed under the intense heat of his eyes.
“Lie back for my Y/N.” You did as he requested and lied onto your back and waited for him to make a move. For almost a minute, he did not; he just scanned your body. Then he opened the lids off the nine jars that were on the tray then took up a brush to dip it into one of the pots. When he lifted it the tip of the brush was coated with a white substance that looked like paint.
“You are my muse and my subject, you are my canvas, and your body will be my art, my love. I plan on worshiping every single inch of you with my love.”
M’Baku trailed the tip of the brush across your skin in swirls. The coldness of the paint, coupled with the whispy strokes of the brush made you wriggle under his expert wrist strokes. When he lifted the brush the center of your body had a beautiful swirl.
“Try not to move, my queen.” He slid his tongue across the painted swirl he just made along the entire trail of it, ending just at your collar. Once he was finished you were already a panting mess. You moaned and looked to him, his mischievous smile made your spine heat.
Again he dipped the brush into one of the jars and came away with a bright yellow paint this time. M’Baku circled each of your breasts, then dipped into another pot and painted smaller red circles around your nipples. He then inched back and admired his work before he smiled and continued his painting. Every dip into a jar produced a different colored paint that he used to decorate every inch of your skin with intricate symbols of the Jabari. As he painted across your skin he whispered what each symbol meant. “Love.” “Passion.” “Desire.” “Obsession.” “Life.” “Beauty.” “Intelligence.” “Skill.” “Power.” “Joy.” He was truly worshiping every inch of your body, not only with the attention of the brush but that of his lips and hands. No part of him left any part of you.
By the time he stood to examine his work, every inch of your skin was covered. “You are more beautiful than the rising and setting sun my love.” You were so on edge you needed more of him than ever before. As if he could read your mind he smiled “Roll for me intaka encinci.”
You rolled across the canvas slowly. Every roll you made the painted symbols imprinted into the canvas. His smile widened the further you went. You lost track of how many rolls your body did. Once you stopped he was standing above you again holding four of the jars. Without a word he poured them onto your body. Your eyes never left his. You dropped your hands to your body and rubbed the paint across your skin, up your belly around your breasts to your neck and jaw. A splash of the pain landed on your mouth, and you tipped your tongue out surprised when it tasted like berries, coconut, lemon, and other fruits that corresponded with the color. Somehow he’d made edible paint. Your realization made him smile widely. A wave of love washed through you. “Roll.”
Again you rolled across the canvas slithering your body across it. M’Baku slowly followed you until you stopped. He was now standing between your spread legs. You lifted your legs and hooked your toes into the waist of the tribal wrap he wore, and you pulled it until the fabric fell, finally revealing him to your hungry eyes. You sank your teeth into your bottom lip.
“Is it my turn, my Chief?” M’Baku dripped to his knees between your legs and pressed his heavy frame to your body. You moaned and claimed his lips as yours. His moans echoed in the room feeding the fire of your desire. His lips dropped to your neck and lapped at the flavored paint that was smeared across your skin. His movements were not slow, which said he’d pushed himself to the edge of his need. When his lips sucked, licked, and lapped at your breast you hugged his head to your body and relished the feel of his mouth on you.
M’Baku dropped his mouth lower to your nether lips and hungrily savored your taste. Slow was not in his vocabulary right now; he licked and teased your flesh as expertly as ever. His tongue quickly flicked against your swollen need, and before you knew it you’d came right on his mouth. He lapped at your juices but didn’t look as if he had any intention of stopping.
You had other plans. With all your strength, you pushed at him and rolled onto him. You were surprised you were able to overpower him, and by the look on his face he was also surprised. M’Baku smiled. “Feeling powerful, my queen?”
“You are about to see how powerful I feel, my king.”
You reached for the jars and retuned the favor pouring their contents across his chestnut skin. It was a sin for any man to possess such beauty, you thought as the colorful paints combined and swirled across his skin. Lifting the paintbrush you swirled it around the pool of paint and absentmindedly began making your masterpiece. You didn’t paint anything in particular you just had to fake it long enough to drive him crazy.
He knew just what you were doing, and he didn’t allow it for long. After a few minutes, he grabbed your wrist, and the brush fell. He pressed you to his chest and kissed you hungrily. He the slickness of the pain against your bodies made this feel incredibly erotic. You tore your lips from his and traveled across his chest down to the delicious snack that awaited you. Dropping your mouth over his swollen length he grunted and bucked his hips. The mixture of flavors in your mouth made you moan on him which made his length violently pulsate.
After only a few minutes, M’Baku rolled onto you and settled between your thighs then thrust forward, fully sheathing himself within your heat. From the first touch of bliss, neither of you could wait any longer, and soon you were going at it like his namesake animal. Neither of you held in the sounds of your pleasure or passion for the other. Your name from his lips bounced off the walls, and his name was muffled into the canvas once he flipped you onto your stomach.
As he pounded into you, he proved to you just why he was Chief of the Jabari, just why so many in the tribe lusted after him, why he demanded attention, respect, and authority with every move he made. This man was born to be a king; this man was your king, your one and only.
You screamed loudly when your felt yet another orgasm rip through you. “Y/N!” You felt M’Baku’s strokes speed and become sloppier as he chased the release he’d denied himself for weeks. The way he hammered into you made you weak, and you knew you’d be sore for the next several days. You didn’t care, it had been way too long, and you needed every inch of him.
“More!”
Without words, he obeyed your demand and delivered one bruising thrust after another into your leaking cavern of love. “M’Baku!”
“Shower me with your love, Y/N. Let my seed take bloom!” You felt the eruption within you as he filled you. The force made you clench around him, which made him push you to the canvas again with his hand harshly gripping the back of your neck as he delivered the final two, three, four thrusts. On the last the both of your shouted in unison and allowed your pleasure to dance through you.
Your bodies shook together, and neither of you could move. Before he crushed you, M’Baku rolled off of you hooking his arm around your abdomen to keep himself buried deep inside of you. You now laid on your sides with him behind you kisses your shoulders.
“Your body is my wonderland intaka encinci entle. I will worship at its alters until my last breath.”
You smiled and settled into his protective arms and found the first satisfying sleep you’d had in months.
Ang Halimaw - Kabanata Isa. Mahiwagang Gubat
Translation: The Monster - Chapter One. Enchanted Forest
※ Main Masterlist ※ Ang Halimaw Masterlist ※ Time Traveller!AU || Immortal!AU || War!AU || Filipino Mythology!AU ※ Series || Genre: Smut || Angst || Adventure || Romance || Horror ※ Pairing: Kim Jongin x OC (Paula) ※ Summary: Paula, an eighteen-year-old Filipino-American girl goes back to her province after her grandmother’s death. She will go on an adventure as she tries to find the village her late grandma grew up in. In a twist of events, she never knew that she will see her grandma’s lover and fall madly in love with him. Will he save her in his peculiar world? ※ Warning: Age Gap, Dub Con, (Technically) Incest, Swearing ※ Word Count: 1930 ※ Note: I was inspired by Miss Peregrine’s Home of The Peculiar Children and I Love You Since 1892 for this one. I can’t even sleep while writing chapter four and three on this story. - I was scared shitless.
Grandma’s stories exploring the forbidden forest always amaze Paula. I wish I could go on an adventure of my life in a place like that. Paula never really had the chance to get out of her house most of the time since she came from an immigrant family and they aren’t living in a Filipino community. People often bullied her and her sister because they live in this white majority gated community. That often left Paula in her own world. In a world where magic, time travel existed.
She always talked about her friend Lucille and how she fell in love with the same man Lucille treasured. The love of her life. Paula listened to her attentively. She is always curious about Lucille, the woman the Jongin fell in love with. When her grandma died at the age of 100, she left her with a box. It had a framed picture of Lucille and the said Jongin in the mansion, she was wearing a white gown and he was wearing a suit and tie. They really looked like a married couple, which they were. She wished her grandma had someone else. - That’s how she got here in the first place. That is why she walked and explored it. She wants to see it.
Grandma was the one who adopted Lucille’s son with Jongin. Her uncle Delfin. “I still remember vivid memories of running with Delfin as we got out of Chalamaria. Delfin was very small at that time.” Stella told Paula.
Ah… The polluted air of Manila. It has been a while since I saw Manila. I live in the US now. Manila is a big place, yet I don’t remember it being like this. - Maybe it’s jet lag that’s making her think that way. She held tightly on my luggage. Waiting for a taxi to get me to the bus station. Her parents refused to come with her. When the taxi arrived, it was a long ride from the airport to the hotel. She opened her phone and listened to music. Ah… She always loved the music of the 50s.
When she arrived at the bus station, she doesn’t where she’s going. She got inside the bus. She opened her phone and listened to music again. She grabbed her wallet and she smiled as she was holding her grandma’s wedding picture. She can see the woman’s smile on the picture. The bus ride was longer than the taxi. Yet it gave her rest. When she sees the lush agricultural area of her country.
When the excruciatingly long bus ride was over, she immediately had a sigh of relief as she held her small luggage with her backpack. “Where is the town of Chalamaria?” She asked the people around the nearby town. “Ask the elders. Haven’t heard that name since.” The college student said. She walked more into the town. She asked more people around. People around the nearby village always told her that the enchanted forest was a dangerous place that no one should go to. - Let alone a young and untested eighteen-year-old. She couldn't care less. She just wants this Jongin to fill in the cracks in their beautiful love story. She has so many questions unanswered by my grandmother. Anxiety started rushing in her veins. Then, only one woman came in to answer her.
“Hello?” She asked an elderly woman. The woman seemed to not hear her and continued on stirring her ube halaya. - A Filipino jam made out of purple yam, milk, and sugar. The smell is very familiar as her grandma used to make it for her. The thing definitely smelled like sweet childhood memories.
“Hello?!” She said it one more time, louder. “Yes, darling?” The woman replied. “Do you know where Chalamaria is?” She asked the lady. The woman smiled bitterly, it looked like a bad memory went to her. “Yes. According to legends, Chalamaria is a town that existed 70 years ago. It was burnt by the Japanese. Everything was gone except the ruins of the big mansion. It’s filled with monsters. Nobody wants to ever go there.” She didn’t care. Those aren’t real. - She assured herself.
The old woman continued speaking. “Women are not allowed to enter that area.” She said to Paula. “Why?” Paula was beyond curious about why she’d say that or the fact Chalamaria doesn’t exist on google maps at all. Any map she sees, no results. Sometimes she feels her grandma is lying to her. But, there is a historical text of the said town.
“I’d still go.” She said to the elder. The elder was shocked to hear what she said. "What is she thinking?" The old woman mumbled and went back to stirring her halaya. “Young people these days…” “I never saw someone as determined as her. Well, maybe this will be the last time I will see her.”
"Why?" She asked the woman. She was stopped in her tracks. "If you're a virgin, it's a bigger warning. Virgin young girls never make it alive. We even call it the virgin paradise. Because of the virgins that never leave.” The old lady continued. When she heard of that, Paula’s heart raced even more. Knowing her grandma survived Chalamaria, she can as well. Her grandma was the only virgin who did not die on the island.
“Minseok knew that Lucille doesn’t love him.” Grandma always said. She feels pity for my grandfather, but at the same time, I feel sad for my grandma who never met her lover again. It was a pity for grandma to know they were never destined to each other.
“Before I met Junmyeon, I met a man named Kim Jongin. He was handsome, he’s a Korean man living in our country during the Japanese occupation. I was with Lucille. She fell in love with him the first sight.” The story was as old as time as I would say. She always held onto her memories. Many say Jongin is dead, but she never believed it. It still can't wrap around her head why a stupid man like Jongin would leave her grandma.
“He was incredibly handsome. Even as old as I am, I still vividly remember his beautifully sculpted form, his kissable lips, golden complexion, his irresistible charm, everything about him. He’s probably dead by now. I never went back to the forest where I found him… old age as well as he never wanted me to go back.” She always tells her. Gosh, she can be an erotica writer just by the way she describes him. It's such a pity I never got to meet this man. - Paula thought.
As Lucille died, and in accordance with Stella’s wishes, she told Paula to go back to the mansion and wear the wedding dress while doing so. - Well, that's why Paula is walking in the forest in a white 40's wedding dress while wearing her grandma's pearl necklace. Given by Jongin to Stella. She truly looked like her grandma. She was just as beautiful as the former was. "The wedding dress was the dress Stella wore before letting him go. It was the dress." That was from her grandma’s words.
Her grandma never had enough time to tell her the whole story. Why did Jongin also give her things if Lucille was his true love? Why is grandma thinking of him like that if they’re only friends? There are many burning questions in Paula’s head. The story has so many holes. So many unanswered questions she wants answers. And what better way to hear that than hearing it from the man himself.
Then, that's why she packed her bags and decided over a three day Journey. Rain or shine, she walked through it all. She was always reminded by Grandma's warnings. "Do not take a picture of the house." She is literally going on a journey to nowhere. This place is closed by the government. Nobody knew of this place's existence.
As she started walking, she saw something. A ruined sign with rust and termite. “Welcome to Chalamaria.” She read the sign as she touched each letter. A faint smile appeared in her face. She furrowed her brows and opened the rusted golden gate. The town is filled with ruins. - Oh, so that’s Chalamaria, an early 1900s luxury town. - She thought to herself. She walked passed all the mansions and she saw a graffiti that said “BURN THE RICH” the graffiti seems old.
I want to see if this Jongin is still alive. I can feel he still is even if I never met him. It’s not a jump of blood because I am not related to him. Then, while walking in the vast and beautiful landscapes, I saw something. Is this it? Is this his house? I saw the house was rotten, it looked like ruins. It has aged through time, so I took a picture of the house, admiring the beauty it has.
Even if it was old. She did that, disregarding her grandma's advice. She was curious. She looked closer at it and saw an old skeleton wearing a suit and slacks with blood like the one in the old photo her grandma told her to treasure. Is this the Jongin? She knew he'd be dead but not in this horrific way. Jongin died 80 years ago. The day Lucille got married to him. Looking at the skull, the man was hit with a missile or a bomb of some sort.
Suddenly the clouds started pushing back, like a rewind at a super-fast rate. It felt like someone was pressing the switch multiple times over and over again. The skull wearing a suit just magically disappeared. She looked at her watch and it started suddenly pushing back time. She started looking at the surroundings "What the fuck is going on?" She asked herself as the skies suddenly go back and the house almost started repairing itself. Maybe this is why her grandma always told her not to get a picture of that house. She saw her phone not being able to open.
It looked like a flipbook right in front of her eyes. She never thought she'd ever see something as beautiful as this one ever in her lifetime. She can't believe that the stories her grandmother told is true. The story that got her grandma labeled as crazy from the day she went back to the village as she started telling everyone. Everyone believed Jongin wasn't real, in fact, he is. Right here and there.
Maybe this is why no one wants to go to the enchanted forest. - She thought to herself as she slowly walked. Holding firm to her backpack, she suddenly felt something was off as she saw a gated mansion. Her grandma told many great stories about this mansion. Her adventures with Lucille. She looked at her phone about that mansion. It was supposed to be rotten, filled with leaves and it was supposed to be old. - But the mansion in front of her looked new. It looked exactly like in the pictures but new.
She decided to open the golden gate and give it a knock. “Is there anyone here?” She asked nicely. Then suddenly, someone opened the door. She was shocked to see him. A man wearing a tailored suit, looking at his Rolex. He had a beautiful golden tan complexion. He has very soft and kissable lips, beautiful almond eyes. Is he Jongin or this is a fucking joke? He's supposed to be dead by now. What the hell? - She thought to herself.
