I named Zelkov's brother Nivale. I also like your name a lot. It's very pretty :) [not a question but yeah] 3. It's pretty clear that Zelai is your favorite ship for Zelkov! Are there any other ships you like with Zelkov or are you a Zelai or Die (I JUST CAME UP WITH THAT I'M SO PROUD). Loukov is my personal favorite so I kind of want to know how you see that one. My discord username has nothing to do with my regular screen name unfortunately. I should just make a fandom account. I'll try to answer your questions as well as I can :) 1) This is a difficult one. The most thorough answer would be to link the backstory I wrote for him, The Eye of Fate. For a short answer, I think it's that the key around his neck was the key to his childhood home. 2) I like coming up with OC names. I've been thinking about making a post where I talk about the meanings behind them. Does Nivale have a meaning behind it? 3) I have to admit that I'm a monoshipper. As much as I would prefer to be a multishipper, I am for sure Zelai or die. As an aside, the reason I call their ship that is because the only other person I ever heard talking about the ship was Japanese and that's what she called it (since Ivy is Aibe). But I also think it sounds nicer than zelkivy or something like that. Anyway, I can certainly see the appeal for other Zelkov ships (I feel like any ship with him in it is a rarepair ;_;) like the way that Louis tries to take care of Zelkov who is usually the one taking care of others at the expense of himself. But zelai has me in a chokehold. 4) I knoooow. He deserves every good thing.

would Zelkov prefer Western medicine (i.e., medicine that is based on empirical science) or traditional medicine (i.e., medicine based on traditional beliefs)

I would consider him to be more precise and scientific in the medicine that he makes. Nothing really indicates to me that he cares about tradition or has strong beliefs in, like, higher powers. But I don't know if the Fire Emblem universe would make that kind of distinction. I think that they would be more concerned with medicine vs. magic, and Zelkov would come down on the side of medicine. Although of course he would admit that sometimes healing is necessary, particularly on the battlefield. I have headcanons about healing magic within the Engage universe (which differs from that of the 3H universe) if you want a long post about that lol.

A few statistics: Art of Zelkov currently posted on this blog: 18 If you count art that includes other characters, the number jumps to 34, but that still doesn't include all the ones I deleted or never posted. Words written: 340,000 more or less That's specifically fanfic that prominently features Zelkov. It doesn't include Tumblr posts and other rambles.

Guess who relates to a character that always has to have a project to keep the bad thoughts at bay.

Since they're twins (according to the Japanese ally notebook), the second question kind of answers the first. For anyone wondering, Parijat is the name that I gave to Zelkov's brother. It comes from the plant also known as night-blooming jasmine or the tree of sorrow. I think Zelkov would try to forget about his birthday as much as he could. He definitely wouldn't tell anyone what it was of his own volition, not just because of the grief, but also because he doesn't like people making a big deal about him. I think as his mental health improves he would be able to celebrate a little bit with those close to him. If you S-rank him and give him a gift on his birthday, he says, "Spending time with you has me appreciating my birthday. I suppose I am glad to have been born." Him being able to say that is a pretty huge deal (and also shows just how bad off he was). I'm sure any gift that he was given would be highly valued. I think you could consider gift-giving to be a love language for him since he makes things and gives them to Tiki, Veronica, Jean, Ivy, Kagetsu, and maybe others I'm forgetting (Anna?). The only person we see give him something in return is Ivy (yes, I had to bring up Ivy), and he's sort of shocked and very grateful for the gift. You knew you weren't going to get a short answer, Skele.

I do this thing I call "borrowing shame from the future." I'll look at a piece of art I made that I'm kind of proud of and think about how in a few months or years all I'll be able to see is how flawed it is and be embarrassed I ever posted it for other people to see.

The concept is that in this episode of Ferdinand's harem anime, Dimitri gets jealous that Sylvain and Lorenz get to spend time horseback riding with Ferdinand. Dimitri tries to join in but it doesn't go so well (he falls off). But then it's time for everyone else to be jealous when he gets some private lessons! Hubert wisely stays out of it all.
