Your recent tags on the post talking about Buck breaking up with Natalia because all she wanted to talk about was death, was so on point. Natalia perhaps didn't want to exploit peoples pain the way TK did, but she gawked at it for sure. Some may think that's a harsh read/take on Natalia, but I'm just going with what little we were ever given. So.

I think a big part of it was that she was written so flatly as a character tbh. She just reacts to what's happening in front of her and gave no professional input.

When I first heard "death doula" I was excited because "oh someone's gonna be there to help Buck process his trauma and what happened to him in a professional manner!" Lol. Lmao even. No, just a love interest who was obsessed with his death.

Doulas are supposed to be trained professionals who provide service and guidance to their clients while they navigate through a medical event like childbirth, or death in Buck's case. But she came across as so unprofessional the entire time? She wasn't sensitive at all to his trauma? I have observed not a single moment of her "seeing him," she only sees his death as something cool that happened to him.

okay putting my real and comprehensive opinion on bvddie here even though no asked just because i feel like i dont make it very clear

i ship bvddie but i do not think its happening, i lost hope for it around season 5 when i dropped the show because i felt like we were constantly being baited and tbh i couldn't stand what the fandom was. thats mostly why i dont post bvddie a lot because ultimately i don't want to interact with the loudest portion of that fandom. after buck came out as bisexual, i stopped caring about it even more even though i still enjoy the idea of it because instead of just thinking about buck being queer, he actually was. first and foremost, i like canon queer representation so bucktommy obviously takes precedent because eddie isn't canonically queer (yet, idk, maybe tim minear will pull a fast one on us). i care way more about hen and karen than i do about taylor/lucy, even though i like both ships. i'm okay with criticism of it, especially of the fandom because to be honest, i do think it's fair to call bvddie theories ridiculous and out there because they kind of are, BUT i don't think it hurts anyone to think that or hold out hope, and it's nice to see speculation and theories bc thats what fandom is all about. that couch theory still has a hold on me even though i dont think it's intentional lol. i don't think it's okay to directly make fun of any bvddie for having crazy theories because we've all had ships that make us crazy and thats okay. the exception here is if that particular bvddie is making fun of bvcktommys for their theories n stuff because at that point its hypocrisy. this goes both ways. if you're gonna come up with a crazy theory, you can't look at other people's crazy theories and claim any high ground there, which is unfortunately something i see a lot in both fandoms.

although one thing i will not do is say "well both sides are equally bad" because objectively bvddies have been around a lot longer and done much worse things. that doesn't mean bts are all innocent either however, one ship clearly has dominance over this fandom and has a large, extensive track record of harassing actresses/generally being aggressive about their ship before bt ever even happened. so there are many, many more cases of those shippers feeling threatened and lashing out unfairly while the others are often just acting out of defense. if there's a bully on the playground picking on someone else, and that person kicks them in the shin, i'm obviously going to hold the bully much more accountable for their behavior than i am for the kid defending themself. while that's obviously not always the case, (i've blocked my fair share of bvcktommy girlies for being weird about female love interests) when it comes to the "both sides" argument, we literally just know that's not true. also most of the shit said about tommy by antis is deeply homophobic so jot that down.

tbh i think being anti bt is much more egregious than being anti bvddie because that's actual queer rep that you're bashing and hoping dies. but there's a difference between being "anti" anything and just not liking it and thinking its annoying.

at first i think i understood it because i think bvddie kind of was the underdog when it first started bc it's was non canon queer ship between two canonically straight characters but thats obviously not true anymore and hasn't been for a while. bvddie has the attention of the actors, has the positive acknowledgement of journalists that get to directly interview those actors, and has the popularity within the fandom. so it's kind of just punching down at other ships at this point, especially ones including female characters who already don't get a lot of development.

that being said, again, I STILL LIKE BVDDIE, and have plenty of bvddie mutuals that i love so i try to avoid the generalization of "ALL bvddie shippers are like this 🙄" because obviously thats not true and there's nothing wrong with shipping bvddie obviously lol it's just a ship and a cute one at that. i think its ridiculous to care that much about hating a ship you just don't like that much, which is fine but like i think many ppl in this fandom need to take several steps back and realize it's not that fucking deep, just like the things you like and leave everyone else alone.

tldr: i like bvddie but im not gonna avoid criticizing a big part of that fandom. ultimately i think ship wars are silly and i don't really understand them. i like queer representation and i like queer headcanons but im not gonna hold out hope for anything. im very ship and let ship until you start to be a dick about other people shipping and then i think you deserve to be called out, especially if you're actively being homophobic/misogynistic/racist. also i think bvddietommy should be endgame lol, let chris has THREE dads and then everyone's happy :D

No you’re so right, when someone makes comments saying that they are “scared” they will see the alternate (Emilie) instead of the principal (Meghan) then I’m not gonna wanna know that person.

It’s not being cliquey, we just don’t want discriminatory people in our fandom saying all these things, I really couldn’t care less what you do because that does not excuse what you say?? Like you don’t get a free pass making racist, yes these are racist, comments because you saw Emilie and teach african American history. And if you liked her, why would you say these things about her? It wasn’t just criticism it was hate, you literally said you hoped you didn’t see her and theres tons of receipts of you saying racist things. Idk about you but when I like someone I don’t discriminate against them, if you didn’t like how Ben gave her nothing then why not say that straight out??

It’s just giving “I have black friends I can’t be racist” like it’s still possible to know these things and be racist.

But you’re right, I don’t want to get to know you, none of us do because you have said these things and when someone says that “Black Christine’s don’t work”. I don’t care. I don’t give a fuck I will never want to know someone who says such terrible things. I don’t care where you work and I don’t care who you are because you still said all of this stuff (there’s so much that I don’t even have time to say it all and I assure you plenty of other people already know) and you do not get to play the victim.

It is not “diversity casting” either, it’s “these women are talented and deserved the roles because of their skills”, I’ve seen Paige and Lucy live and they are fucking angels, I adore them so much, they’re also some of the sweetest people I have ever met.

You are labeled a racist, you are labeled a terf, and that is not for no reason, these labels aren’t just handed out with no justification, but there is so much evidence against you and so many screenshots of you saying bigoted things

Anyways, tldr, you are a bigot who makes bigoted comments, we don’t want to get to know you, it doesn’t matter what you do in your free time and if you do teach people about the railroad and African American history then why do you feel like it’s okay to make racist comments when you know the discrimination black people have faced.

but very seriously its not healthy to get that attached to a fictional character to the point where any criticism of them is “hate” or a personal attack. its very common in any fandom for people to cry that their favorite is hated on for no reason, and not once have i ever seen that to be an accurate assessment of the situation. in this case with luci, he is the most popular character across the board according to the popularity polls. he’s beloved. hes also a complex character who often mistreats others and behaves in a way that is rightfully upsetting or distasteful to many. if you are so tearfully angry that other people have a different opinion than yours, you need to turn your computer off. im serious. fandom microblogging isnt healthy for you.

people posting thoughtful critique of a character is not hate, people cracking jokes at a characters expense is not hate. and even if it is genuine hate... so what? people have as much a right to fandom spaces to talk about why they hate something as much as you talk about how you love it. you cannot and should not demand others to “get out” of a public spaces. curating your experience falls on you. 

and dont come to me like “oh this character is my comfort character i physically cant see negativity for them or ill die! thats why i need everyone to stop posting hate of them” because its a filmsy reason. i have ccs too, and ive cracked jokes on this blog abt criticism of my faves, but im not running around lambasting strangers on the internet telling them that theyre somehow morally wrong for a fandom opinion. block everyone in the world if you want, i dont care, but being unhealthily attached to a fictional character is your business and if you try to shove it on to everyone else, youre an ass.

THE OSCARS COMES OUT WITH USING THE “PUTTING AWAY CHILDISH THINGS” SCRIPTURE OUT OF CONTEXT FOR ANIMATION AND A FEW DAYS LATER AN ANIMATED FILM COMES OUT WHERE THE VILLAIN DOES THE SAME CRAP AND IT WAS A TOTAL ACCIDENT BUT I LOVE THAT SO MUCH next year come awards season when it doesn’t get nominated i promise to make at least 3 jokes using clips from that scene about how “it hit too close to home” for the academy even though they just don’t nominate sequels 

also rex i trusted you i can’t believe chris pratt was the bad guy now him being so mean to star lord makes sense i legit did not see that plot twist coming granted the residents of the sistar system have some very questionable tactics for being friendly like ACTUAL SOUND TORTURE

also just the way emmet and lucy’s dynamic was handled. i was honestly worried from the trailer that the film was gonna go full on “lol stupid boy gets the credit while action girl does everything” and while YES LET’S APPRECIATE LUCY’S INPUT emmet’s strength of heart was such a driving force in the first movie and lucy calls mayhem out for acting like it wasn’t EVEN BEFORE SHE HAS FULLY REALIZED HOW MUCH SHE VALUES IT EVEN BEFORE SHE REALLY KNOWS WHAT SHE’S SAYING SHE KNOWS THAT DEVALUING EMMET’S CONTRIBUTION IS WRONG THANK

we so often ignore the contributions of people who are just kind and positive and we could really use more people like that in the world honestly.

emmet and lucy’s whole arc destroyed my kokoro though like emmet was so used to lucy being critical of him and asking more of him that it led to so many bad choices including not believing she was in her right mind because she was encouraging him. This is made even worse when you realize that she was forgetting some of his past endeavors. Like Lucy.... Lucy, WHY are you so shocked Emmet came up with a good plan using his contruction background? That’s HOW HE SAVED THE WORLD IN THE LAST MOVIE. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT YOUR SPECIAL BEST FRIEND HAS ALWAYS BEEN USEFUL. 

The whole “The Lucy I know would never say that” bit just.... O U C H. Their arc held so much emotional weight and expanded so naturally on the hints of an arc we got for Lucy in the first movie and it was beautiful.

wHERE is ANY DISCUSSION FANWORK ANYTHING FOR WHAVRA AND BATMAN I LOVE THEM????? The writers showed some mad romance writing skills slowly morphing that relationship from arranged marriage to actually liking each other and I just want people to appreciate how cute they are. for crying out loud there’s more fanwork of emmet with himself than a canon ship come on you guys why what is this the lorax fandom they friggin had an argument over who was going to sacrifice themselves to save the other like in that comic of those two folks doing yoga to block the other from a bullet they’re dorks

other great moments include “dON’T TOUCH ME WHEN I’M SPACESHIPPING” and “marvel isn’t returning our calls” and “oh no are we in a musical”

of course the real villain of this movie is whoever bought that girl lego friends instead of regular legos which were never gendered before that junk game around but... whatever this movie also kind of made lego friends cooler and made an effort to put out sets that finally incorporate them into the rest of the lego toy line so that’s cool
