Have you ever talked about your writing process?
I probably have but i can share it again!
It's long so I put it under the cut!
I start with an idea and write it down as soon as I can. I'll add details or scenes/imagery I want to see and maybe even quotes or bits of dialogue I want to use. doesn't need to be linear, just need to Get The Idea Out so I don't forget anything.
Often times I will talk to a mutual about an idea. in explaining the idea, the story comes more alive. because in my own head I can see the "in between" pieces so my own notes can be a bit choppy. but having to tell someone else, for them to see the vision, I give more details. such as why I chose a certain line or how something in the beginning connects to something later in the story. even if it doesn't have plot and is a pwp, I can still explain what I see in my head in a very clinical sense. inevitably, whoever I told hypes me up and the excitement adds to my momentum. they can also ask clarifying questions that help me explain a detail better and more fully develop the idea beyond some bullet points bouncing around in my head. I do this to varying degrees; the more plot, the more I tend to elaborate. sometimes them asking a question gives me an idea to add something new I hadn't thought of before.
I also keep a list of my fic ideas on a private and personal discord, categorized by sfw/nsfw. then in each channel (one for each fic), i can add my notes and rambling ideas, images, quotes, etc (including from dms of mutuals I have told) and have them all in one place so I can refer to it alter and am not relying on my memory.
Once I have that, I open up a new document leaving space for a title and tags to be filled in later. rarely does a title come to me immediately. then I write a rough plot summary. it's very much like "this then that then this" without much detail or emotion. very much a river of thought as the story starts to paint itself. this makes sure that I have somewhere to go if I blank out. the store is "written" from start to finish, there is no guess work on what will happen next so I don't get stuck. usually a plot summary is about 10% of the length that the finished fic will be. This one I developed later and has helped me IMMENSELY. because, for example, I once started a fic with a really solid idea but no end goal. I ended up writing 77k and I've basically abandoned it because I have no idea how to finish it, so I am stuck. It would have been a lot less work for me if I had planned it out fully. I tend to not do this for pwps; those kind of write themselves. I get an idea of a particular trope/scene I want to see and write until I get there.
After that, I go line by line and flesh it all out. instead of "will went to bed and had a nightmare", I describe the room, his fear, the nightmare itself, his thoughts about it etc. as the story develops, the original plot summary can change as a new idea can spark. I almost always add a scene or change one dramatically in this stage. The trick to this is I don't stop and go back. I don't let myself edit, I just get the story done. It helps keep momentum and the next scene fresh in my mind. editing slows me down and is my least favorite part and can be discouraging. But if I just go from point A to B to C in one go, then the likelihood it gets finished goes up dramatically.
That is like the first "bulking" of the fic, adding the first several layers of detail. I then go to the top and read through it again, adding even more detail, changing words around if I use one too much, etc. This stage often adds more bulk to the story but not as much as the last stage. sometimes it adds a lot, like priest fic first stage was 18.5k, but with editing it became almost 28k.
Once I feel a fic is actually done and nothing needs to be added, I start to microedit. Nothing more than a sentence gets changed at a time, and my goal is to find tense, spelling, grammar, punctuation errors. more fine toothed comb. I also have my fic and a blank document side by side so I can add tags as I read through it so I don't forget something.
Usually in writing the fic, a title kind of just Happens. sometimes I need to really think about it, and I will often write several down and get opinions. Once I have a title (or deciding between some), complete tags, and a fic, I send it to my beta reader. another set of eyes is SO extremely helpful, and not even just for small errors I missed. some things that made sense to Me need more clarification because my beta reader can't read my mind. and if they are confused, readers likely will be, too. I also can ask if chapter breaks make sense or where they should be.
As I wait for my fic to be returned, or sometimes in procrastination of writing it, I start to find images for a tumblr post. If its a full fic, I like to make a moodboard, and share this with my beta reader too. If it's a pwp, I tend to use just one image. Soooometimes I make/find the images before I even write it lmao. Then I post it, make a tumblr post, and link to my ao3.
I also don't post until my fic is DONE. I am so impatient sometimes but with my first Hannibal fic, I was posting as I was writing and for me, it was really stressful not really knowing when it would end and what would happen next. I am happy and lucky it turned out and became a cohesive fic in the end, but that process was Not Ideal for me.
Not all ideas happen, though. some are more exciting to think of or talk about than to actually make happen. some I know will be long fics/a lot of work/take a lot of time so I hold off on those until I can give them more attention and time. Others take over my entire brain and I cannot rest until it is done.
#hope this was helpful anon!#anonymous#the curious clown#''little gold'' was no strategy. lmao#I slowly developed this process and it has been SO incredibly helpful and made it so I actually got fics done#also if this has typos sorry lol. too tired to edit

JJ’s how to gif using timeline animation instead of frames
So here it is. This is just the basics, It covers the set up and the steps to do it. I will perhaps do a part 2 in the future that covers how to use text and things like that. But if you’re interested in making gifs with timeline, master this stuff first:
OKAY I’ve gotten lots of asks about doing this so today we’re talking about how to make gifs using timeline animation and screen recording. I know lots of people use frame animation. I used to always make my gifs that way. This is just a way that I found worked better for me and was a lot faster and made gifs come out cleaner (making frame caps got real slow on my computer for some strange reason). ANYWAY so what you need for this, most importantly, is quicktime player. At least for the screen recording process. But if you are making gifs of short videos like youtube or something, you don’t necessarily have to record them with quick time as long as you download them. And then you need a video that’s playing somewhere, be it on a site or on a video player (i’m using VLC player in this tutorial).
First, I open the video I want to gif in VLC player. For this tutorial, it’s an episode of Shadowhunters in 1080p. I get the video to just a few seconds before the scene I want to gif (keep in mind you can do the whole scene, you’re going to cut it up later). Pause the video.
Then you right click on quicktime player (I keep it open in my doc to make things easier. I’m not sure of the mechanics of doing this part if you aren’t on a mac but I imagine you just need to have quicktime already open). So I right click and hit “new screen recording”
which will then give me a screen like this:
You’re going to hit that red dot. Don’t worry it doesn’t start recording right away. When you hit the red dot, this comes up:
I prefer to click and drag to select the area of the video to save me from having to trip/crop it later. But you can also just click anywhere to record full screen.
With the click and drag, I box the entirety of the video and nothing else like this:
Then I hit that “start recording” button in the middle. Make sure you click back to your video after you do this and actually hit play. And then just wait and let it record. Once you have everything you want, right click on Quicktime again and select “stop screen recording.”
once you do that you’ll get a screen like this that opens the video you just created over the video you’re playing.
Now while still in Quick time I go up to the top menu bar and hit “edit” and then “Trim” so i can cut this file down. You want to not open HUGE files in photoshop and also want to avoid saving big files to your computer so being able to take some out is nice.
When I open it in trim, I just take off the stuff at the beginning where you could see me clicking around and the stuff at the end where you can see me stopping the recording.
Then I hit trim. And once that’s done I got to “file” and then “save” and save my clip.
This probably feels like a WHOLE lot of steps. I swear it isn’t. It’ll begin to feel like one fluid thing once you’ve done it a few times.
Now onto the photoshop part. You’re going to open that entire clip you just made in photoshop. I usually just go find it in my files, and drag it over to photoshop to open it. And you will have a screen that looks like this:
If you don’t have that timeline window there, just go up to “window” and select “timeline”
Now this is the most important step. Do NOT forget it. (Trust me I forget it at least once a day). You need to slow this clip down. Otherwise it’s going to move at a really fast speed in gifs. Usually anything between 40-50% works fine but feel free to adjust it depending on what you want. To slow it down, you’re going to hit that little triange in the top right corner of the video timeline:
This window will pop up right above it. Adjust where it says “100%” to say the percentage you want. For this, I’m going to use 50. Which is usually what I always use.
When you do that, it is going to actually keep the video length the same, but slow the frames down, which means you’re going to lose half your video. Have no fear it isn’t gone for good. Just zoom out on the timeline using this glider:
Then click on the video right at the end and drag it out to the right:
This should double your clip length and give you all your content back (NOW AT 50% FRAME RATE!)
NOW is the part where you crop/resize your gif. MAKE SURE you do that AFTER you adjust the frame rate. Otherwise, if photoshop converts your content into a smart object (which it WILL ask to do when you resize) you will bypass the option to adjust the frame rate percentage.
So anyway now we crop based on what we’re going to gif. I’m just going to make a small gif of the three kids hanging out for this gif set. so I’m going to crop for that. But you can use the little slider at the bottom to move through the video if there’s something else you’re looking to crop to fit or whateverrrr.
That red line there is the thing I”m talking about. See how moving it changed what was on screen? Magic.
ANYWAY back to the kids:
I crop to what I want first. Then go up to image, resize and resize it to the 268 dimension.
All I do is make sure the height is something larger than 150 because for this gif I want it to be 268x150. I can crop those extra 20 pixels out after. I hit okay to save it.
This is where the window pops up that asks if you want to convert it to a smart object. Tell it that’s okay by hitting “convert” and it’ll do its magic thing and convert your wHOLE video clip to a smart object.
That step always makes it all tiny like this:
Just hold down command and hit the “+” a few times to zoom it back to normal size.
You don’t really need this step but here’s where I hit image again, and then canvas size to clip the height down to 150px
So now you’ve basically got a gif sized version of an ENTIRE scene. YAY. Or not yay. Idk what you want. Here’s the part where we gif it. FIRST lets add a coloring. You can use your own coloring or a psd or whatever you’re going to do. I’m just going to pop a basic coloring on this and get back to you when I’m done. BUT if you want a coloring tutorial I have one of those here
Okay coloring is added and now we’re back. Have I mentioned that the coolest part of giffing from a timeline instead of frames is that you can put the coloring in place once and it’s on the WHOLE scene? yeah it’s great. The same applies for sharpening. So we’re going to sharpen this mother. I do that by making sure the video is highlighted blue over there in the layers section, then hit “filter” “sharpen” and then “smart sharpen”
These are my smart sharpen settings if you want them:
So now you have an entire scene, colored and sharpened and you’re ready to make it into gifs.
You do that by adjusting those little gray markers on top of the timeline. I’m going to move those gray things to the area i want to gif to make it easier
then use that same little slider as before to zoom back in so i can most accurately get the area i want:
That little red line is your friend. Use it to slide around and see what your gif is and align those little gray things with it when you have it where you want:
Unfortunately, I don’t have a secret to knowing how long or short it should be. You gotta sort of eyeball it and get used to it. You’ll notice when you go to save the gif, if it’s too big, you gotta go back in and make it shorter. So I’m just taking a guess with this gif length. But once I have that area selected. I’m going to hit “file” “export” “save for web"
That will save ONLY the area I’ve selected and export it as a gif.
That opens this window. As you can see, my gif is only 715.7k and only 50 frames. So instead of saving it, I’m actually going to cancel and close this window and go back to the timeline and adjust those gray things to make it longer:
I basically just doubled the length since we know that 715.7k doubled is still nowhere near the tumblr gif size limit of 3GB.
Then I hit “file” “export” “save for web” again and get this window again:
110 frames is probably way better than 50. Based on the size i can afford to make it even bigger but I’m not going to. Now you have to adjust those settings at the bottom so that it is set to start at the first frame instead of the last frame, and set to loop forever instead of once.
These are my save settings. You’re welcome to use those or whatever your own are:
Then you just hit save and BOOM:
A clean gif with no choppiness and all of the frames in tact. THEN you can go back to your exact same open file and move those gray things around and gif another portion of the scene without changing anything:
“But JJ, now they’re off center because you cropped it to fit the first shot.”
I know. All you have to do is hit the crop tool and then click anywhere on your gif. It’ll give you this:
Now just slide the window to adjust it how you’d like
And then hit enter. Boom. ONE RULE do NOT resize that window. If you start pushing and pulling you’re going to fuck up the gif size and mess up your sharpening. Just slide it around to different locations. Don’t start adjusting the shape/size. If you need to make a bigger gif or smaller gif, reopen your file in a new window and size it that way from the get go or your sharpening will get all whacky.
Then just save your gif again and:
now you’ve got two gifs from the same scene, same coloring, same sharpening and you can just keep on going, sliding those gray guys around and saving like a saving machine. That’s all kids. Hope this worked and helped you a little. It feels like it has a lot of steps but it’s actually quite smooth once you’re used to it. Let me know if you have questions!

The best hairstyles for men with thick hair

The best hairstyles for men with thick hair
Thick hair is one of those blessings that too often feels like a curse. Yes, as your hairdresser (and mother) will often tell you, you have a nice head of thick locks and are unlikely to go bald, but thick hair comes with its own set of hairstyle dilemmas.
Are there more or less options when it comes to styling? And is it harder to wrestle in a solid style than thin hair? What do you do when it's damp? Even with hairstyles, opinions seem split – some say it's more difficult to manage with fewer styles available; others say the sheer volume means there is more you can do with it. But one thing is generally agreed – it's about choosing the right hairstyle.
"Thick hair comes in many ways," says TJ Hunt of the best London hairdressers Ruffians. “It could be wavy and thick or poker straight and thick. It's about getting the right style to complement your own hair type and lifestyle. ”
Let's start with the good news. If you have thick hair, you will enjoy much fuller quiffs and pompadours and find it easier to style beachy or textured hair. It also looks better faded than thin hair. But there are downsides, and we're not just talking ruffles.
"Having thick hair can be a bit of a nightmare because it can typically be more difficult to style and often difficult to hold," said Dexter Johnson of Toni & Guy. “Thick hair is more difficult to manipulate, while thin hair can build up with products. It is much more difficult to remove the density of the hair in terms of a hair clipping technique. ”
Regardless of which side of the argument you fall on, here are some of the best styles to apply to all types of thick hair.
Hairstyles For short thick hair
Short harvest
"If you have short, thick hair, the product sometimes mattes the texture and it becomes sticky," says Johnson. "So a short crop with a nice fade to reduce weight and texture at the top will work well." Think of every variation of the iconic, uncomplicated French crop.
How to take care of it: “This style is fairly easy to maintain and is a great option for those looking for a wash-and-go.”
The chopped off harvest
"Clipper tight on the back and sides with a rising fade," said Charlie Cullen of London barber Joe & Co. "Shear the top in slightly irregular lengths to add texture and remove density. Cut the fringes short for easy maintenance and durability. ”
How to take care of it: “If wet, add some sea salt spray and rough dry – this style is deliberately‘ disordered ’. Finish off with some matte product to give support. ”
The connoisseur's buzz cut
"If your thick locks get too much in hot summer weather, go for a full clipper cut," says Hunt. “To add shape and style, go for a Class 3 or 4 on the top, but go ultra-sharp with the fading on the back and sides. Start with skin or grade 0 if you are fat enough. ”
How to take care of it: The buzz cut is kind of a shower-and-go kind of style, but keep in mind that you'll likely need to be back in the barber chair within two weeks.
Hairstyles For medium length thick hair
The Leebo
"The‘ Leebo ’comes from Toni & Guy's legacy collection,” says Johnson. “It's a great option for men with medium length hair because it minimizes the width on the sides and creates more volume on the top. For a 70's or 80's inspired haircut, ask that the layers be a bit shorter – otherwise for medium length. ”
How to take care of it: It's another great wash-and-go hairstyle, but if you're prone to frizz, consider some light like a leave-in conditioner.
The classic loose sweep back
"Scissors are the key to this heavily layered style," says Hunt. “Graduated back and sides complement the heavier top so that it can lean back effortlessly. Don't say goodbye if you want to make the style looser and easier to style. ”
The Undercut Quiff
"Clipper the sides short while maintaining the length at the top," says Hunt, "especially on the fringes without fully connecting them. It's great when you have a good volume in your hair. ”
How to take care of it: “A hair dryer is your best friend here. Add some gel or a little styling paste when you're wet, and use a round brush, add volume, and lift it up. Finish with clay for a matte look or a strong pomade for a more defined finish. ”
Hairstyles For long thick hair
Messy levels
"For seamless layers, ask your hairdresser about duality within the layer pattern," says Johnson. “Haircut-wise, you want to ask for something that works with zigzag sections so that your hairdresser can shorten certain areas to remove weight, that is, to the back or to the sides. It is not the same as an undercut because we remove length and weight with an undercut. Here we want to keep the length of the hair but only reduce as much weight as possible. ”
How to take care of it: Conditioner is key to just keeping this style smooth enough, but you can also add a light cream or sea salt spray to add a little more texture and definition.
The surfer
Channel your inner rock star and let your hair grow over your shoulders, Hunt says. “Go shoulder length with razor layers to add beachy texture and minimize weight.”
So take care of it: When you grow your hair, visit the hairdresser every few weeks to trim the ends and keep the hair in good shape. "Add a cool texture with salt spray for a living look and let it air dry, or use a diffuser attachment on your hair dryer so it doesn't look too stylish," says Hunt. "Don't try to wash too often as this look works best with some natural oil."
The long sweep and tuck
If your hair is too thick to drop on the side of your face, this is the best option. "Call for a longer layer shape that can be stowed behind the ear and worn on the face," says Cullen. "The hair needs to be layered lightly to reduce the volume, but be careful if the layers are too short as they can actually increase the volume."
How to take care of it: “Wash and lightly towel dry and then apply some of Bed Head Superstar Queen For a Day fairly heavily. Style with your hands for a natural texture and then let it dry naturally. ”
Hairstyles for thick curly hair
Long and curly
"If you have thick, curly hair, I would recommend growing it longer," says Johnson. "Nothing to the extreme of Mick Hucknall, but leaving it on long and integrating an undercut – a shaved area around the neck – reduces the width and weight."
How to take care of it: Think Jim Morrison or Jon Snow here and as little product as you can get away with. You should have repeat order leave-in conditioners.
High skin veneer
"The high fading begins around your temple or around the corner of your forehead," says Johnson. "Unlike the traditional undercut, which is only one length, the high fade on the sides becomes shorter and a longer length on the top to show off your curls."
How to take care of it: As with all thick, curly styles, you may need some kind of anti-frizz product. And if you have sensitive skin, try a scalp tonic to counteract the slightly abrasive quality of the fade.
rejuvenation
"The rejuvenation focuses on the temple and sideburns," says Johnson, "as well as on the neck to give the hairstyle a long life and work the curls off the face." Above, a half-length, choppy style becomes the best of the natural Make the shape of your hair.
So take care of it: You want the curls to work together and avoid frizz with this style. The Curl Define area of label.m was created for this.
The best products for thick hair
Thick hair either doesn't need a product or something very specific. "Which product you use depends on your hair type and style," says TJ Hunt from Ruffians. “You usually need to apply a little more product to get the same result in thick hair. Strong hold products usually work well with short, choppy styles – matte shades, styling creams – but with longer, looser styles, opt for something more natural, like leave-in conditioners or hair balms. ”

Fluid Label Focus on GENOT CENTRE 14
ICE_EYES: INDIVIDUAL DROPS (2019)
COVER BY H5IO6I54K
Reviewed format: advance WAV download of album as kindly provided by GENOT CENTRE
Welcome to 14th review I’m doing of music released on the GENOT CENTRE label, which is why I adjusted the labelling of this review finally. What I have for you today is the brand new GENOT CENTRE release of INDIVIDUAL DROPS by ICE_EYES, released this year (2019). This is a 10 track album released on limited edition cassette tape and digital download featuring 5 original tracks by the Greek duo ICE_EYES (side A of the tape), accompanied by 5 reworks by an exciting selection of artists in the contemporary underground music scene (side B on the tape). Once again we can find some exciting new sonic manipulation, post-club deconstruction, high quality sound design and thrilling surprising compositional turns in the relatively short original tracks and remixes which are all exciting, imaginative and on point pieces of music with that wild contemporary mark of quality that is the GENOT CENTRE label. This is accompanied by H5IO6I54K excellent fitting artwork which features a blend of organic elements of nature, sci-fi typography and Metal themed logo hand drawn letter manipulations which looks especially gripping on the physical red coloured tape version, which also comes with a neat abstract sculpture shaped out of a recycled piece of PET similar to the organic rock like masses you can find on the artwork on the J-card and digital album cover file. The artwork definitely embodies this release really well, as INDIVIDUAL DROPS’ 5 original pieces and remixes feel at times almost like “masses” of organic material and synthetics that move, evolve, change shape and ultimately feel like true otherworldly soundscapes that at times almost feel like Club music but always hit you with unexpected sounds, harshness or changes that keeps the music feel very fresh and new. For this review I got sent a great press kit by GENOT CENTRE which features various additional materials, but for now I’ll mention only the main contains of this release which are the music, which I got in WAV format (of which the original tracks are in 24-bit/44.1kHz high resolution audio and the remixes in 16-bit/44.1kHz CD quality audio) and the excellent album artwork which you’ll get as a full J-card with the cassette version and as a square version of the album cover in the download. The artwork varies slightly at these formats, but you will get a good resolution image whichever format you choose.
Now, let’s move to the music on INDIVIDUAL DROPS which is really awesome. This album really is one of my favourite releases I heard and another favourite from the GENOT CENTRE label catalogue in general. As I read in the accompanying text file in my press pack the album’s concept is focused on really fluid organisation of sounds and an approach to making music which is really focused on relationships between rhythm, pitch and the fargoing usage of sound bending granular and other stretching / manipulation based techniques. And this fluid manipulations of sound into pieces that are blending or diffusing the borders between groove, soundscape and sonic structure are ultimately a really great main focus of the GENOT CENTRE label in general, which I’ve discovered after reviewing many of their releases by now and ICE_EYES music in here and the energetic remixes on here are a great example of that right from the start with CYAN GRADIENTS. The piece introduces us to the sound of INDIVIDUAL DROPS with scattering, tumbling percussive rhythms featuring crackles, stuttering kicks, pitch shifted stereo claps, hissy synth stabs and various chopped samples of voices. The music feels like an organic mass that is alive with movement, blending earth and both metallic and plastic materials together to create a kind of ambience that almost feels like Earth as a living creature. It’s moving, changing, taking all human made artificial objects with it, throwing these all around itself as well as absorbing some of these within its clay. Indeed, in terms of style this music can definitely be labeled as Deconstructed Club music and while people will always debate about the validity of such tags I personally like the style as it takes on many shapes like what we have here with music as a living organism of mixed concrete sound and artificial elements. The glitchy atmospheric synths also give this piece a quite brooding background but fear not as the sun is still shining, even in this piece. Afterwards we move onto title track INDIVIDUAL DROPS which feels like a Dub Techno track analysed and reprocessed as a data structure and then exported into a sound file, but again, a living file. Deep synth style hinting at that smooth flowing deepness of Dub Techno scatter around and seem to be resting on wooden planks, drums have been completely repurposed into data-synced high pitched stutters and glitches of sound and squelchy synth effects and alien voices are only remnants of originally human samples. It’s a piece that feels alien, but even at this level of abstract, the stabs are calming and the music feels like hope. Good to point out also is that this album has some impressive thick bass and sub bass in the kicks and low percussion used, so I do recommend you to listen with a good bass on headphone or your sound system to experience that. ARGO follows with a more melodic sound that’s got quite a lot of Bass Music elements, choppy phased synth melodic synth patterns, a funky bass arpeggio and even some continuing rhythms as well. But the music is definitely a lot more mechanical sound full of squeaky drill and bass like granular stretches as well as a thick saturated kick and the rough edges of the pieces combined with the cyborg vocal samples make the music feel more Industrial. I really like how the simple melodies in this piece intercut, glitch, get distorted in such grinding abstract ways that it feels like the music is almost turning inside out, breaking its phase yet still wanting to give us something recognisable to hold onto with its melodies. In the next piece EXOGENOUS blends elements of Bass Music, Plunderphonics and Glitch to create a soundscape groove full of musical details, fragments and quite a lot of high frequency effects which feels like a film soundtrack remade with code firing off elements and bits of both the sound effects and original music of the original film soundtrack at the environment the film takes place in. Like the music both gallops over and aurally describes a calm gorgeous landscape with a blue sky and brightly shining sun but triggered by many randomised captures of areas of film frames. KHOROS is the last piece from the original tracks, feeling like a collage of processes, actions, human sounds and technical sounds the piece harkens back to classic dadaist Sound Collage techniques but brings these into hi-fi digital territory. Like an alarm clock not just going off with a sound or bit of music but throwing out a mass of impressions from a full day’s worth of activities and details thereof reminding us that every day, even when we are just relaxing is filled with sounds, details, movement that shapes the sonic environment we live in. A great final track from the first half of this album release. Then we move on the second half of INDIVIDUAL DROPS, the 5 remixes. In CYAN GRADIENT (RENICK BELL REMIX) RENICK BELL rearranges the elements from the original into a very driving jumpy piece of experimental club music in which he scatters around percussive sounds from the original in Plunderphonics style over a FFT filtered bassy groove that keeps changing overtime. The hiss from the samples is also quite pronounced, making the piece feel like a “melodic” piece of “future Industrial” music in which we’ve long forgotten about the old hissing, steaming, clanging sounds of machinery and digital clean glossy artificial materials emit hyper sound designed noises to identify which actions are taking place. There’s a lot to this remix that harkens back to the organic “living” element of ICE_EYES original but the FFT filter effect and fuzzy edges of the remix to remind us of a certain fragility and that we might actually be listening to a recording of the future, but a very exciting one nonetheless. On INDIVIDUAL DROPS (BENELUX ENERGY REMIX) Wim Dehaen, who’s also one of the GENOT CENTRE label heads puts on his other jacket and brings us an amusing piece of sonic mayhem in this completely plundering remix. As part of the BENELUX ENERGY sound he adds massively compressed Hardstyle kicks, beats and Noise filled synths to the mangled samples from the original piece to create a piece that sounds like Industrial machinery getting impulses to completely rave out. It’s a very noisy and at many points harsh remix, but definitely very fun and the quick progression and short length help to make this a sweet burst of sampledelic energy. Then afterwards things calm down a bit on ARGO (CXLO REMIX) on which CXLO turns the Bass Music vibes from the original into a gorgeous atmospheric Braindance piece in which elements of one of the melodic patterns in the original are looped, filtered and reverberated to create gorgeous resonating glassy pads which are backed by awesome glitchy filtered drums. I love the attention to detail in the sound design and composition of this piece, wherein the elements are constantly changing and evolving into new forms, fluidly shifting between various details of the resonances and texture of the drums. The bassy kick is also utilised wonderfully in here and the metallic layer of drums adds a nice Industrial shine to the piece, very nice. EXOGENOUS ({ARSONIST} REMIX) is quite true to the some of the Deconstructed Club elements that are audible in the original piece, but here the separate elements seem to be triggered by a percussive rhythm, so rather than galloping through a landscape, the landscape seems to be galloping with us. Ambient pads form a warm glow in the remix and quirky synth effects and glitches rain softly down on us creating an experience both quirky and serene. The piece also quite a clean sound to it with the ambience as background and foreground synth and percussion forming to clear layers which add a good sense of depth to the music. KHOROS (GALEN TIPTON REMIX) is the last remix and final track on INDIVIDUAL DROPS ending this album with a fiery banger of a remix. This is probably the most Club oriented piece on this release, remixing the elements from the original into a very catchy driving fast groove with punching kicks, rhythmic stabs of original samples from KHOROS, metallic hi-hats, as well as various other Industrial manipulations from stems of the original piece. It’s a great cross of a contemporary underground Club track, ultra-wide stereo effects and the metallic shine of Industrial into a short and fiery remix. A great closing piece to this album.
INDIVIDUAL DROPS by ICE_EYES definitely shines as one of the strongest releases of this year so far. The impressive sonic landscapes of the original tracks by ICE_EYES are grippingly organic in nature but also invitingly layered with sonic details, surprising evolution within the compositions and a very personal touch to the wonderfully shaped sound design of the music. The remixes rework these pieces in exciting, often groove-based directions and form a great complimentary sonic exploration to the first half and can also invite listeners to go back to the originals to find details in them the remixes lay bare or magnify, thereby also crossing over in terms of sonic imagery. I highly recommend this album to anyone who likes the more sonically rich side of underground Club music, Deconstructed Club, Glitch and also Industrial and Plunderphonics but also anyone looking for a unique listening experience that is both immersive and organic as well as having really strong bassy grooves. Go check this album out.

30 Stylish Medium Shags You’ll Want To Try
Anjali Sayee January 30, 2019
The shag cut is back!
You heard that right! Shaggy hair is back in fashion and fast becoming one of the trendiest cuts. Though, earlier, the shaggy cut was sported on short hair, now, it’s more of a medium-length hairstyle. Before you raise your eyebrows, let me tell you one thing – once you get the medium shag cut, your morning styling routine will never be the same!
If you are a DIY queen, here’s how you can cut your own hair in a basic shag cut. You’re welcome!
How To Cut A Medium Shag Haircut
What You Need
Spray bottle filled with water
Elastic bands
Comb
Hair-cutting scissors
How To Do
Dampen your hair with the water spray.
Comb your hair and mark how long you want your shag cut to be.
Gather all your hair and tie it in a high ponytail.
Take another elastic band and tie it at the mark.
With a pair of scissors, cut your hair just below the elastic band.
Remove both elastic bands and check the layers.
You can fine style your hair but feather the layers. Simply use the point-cut method and thin out the ends. This will create the shag effect.
Now that you know how to cut your hair in a shag cut, let’s move on to how you can style it. Here are 30 stylish medium shag hairstyles to give you some style inspiration.
30 Stylish Medium Shag Haircuts You’ll Want To Try
1. Modern Shag
This is a modern take on the classic shag cut. The shaggy layers have been cut to suit the layering trend of our time. You can style your hair like this with the help of a round brush and a blow dryer.
2. Simple Shag
I get it, the shag cut can be overwhelming for those women who don’t want their layers to stand out too much. Fortunately, the shag is a versatile haircut. Opt for a toned down shag like this one.
3. Blonde Highlighted Shag
The shag hairstyle is all about volume with layers. When you have deep brown hair, adding blonde highlights can accentuate your layers and make your hair appear thicker and more textured.
4. Big Curly Ends Shag
Volume is a big issue for women with thin hair. The easiest solution is layers and curls. Adding layers will add depth and dimension to your tresses. The curls will add a texturized contrast, making your hair look bouncy and lively.
5. Thick Layered Shag
Women over 30 usually prefer this look. It’s easy to style, thanks to the heavy layers that start right at the top. On a bad hair day, you can also use the curls to cover up your problem areas!
6. Autumn Shag Cut
There are some hair colors that look great in specific seasons. For example, during autumn, you’ll notice earthy colors – like yellow, orange, and red – on display. Going for colors like this honey dimensional blend will accentuate your shaggy locks during fall.
7. Wavy Shag
The wavy shag is one of the best beachy looks. The layers and the wavy texture make your hair look like it’s been tousled by the sea breeze. Add some highlighted tips to give your hair a sun-kissed effect.
8. Ice Blonde Shag
Ice blonde has been a trending hair color ever since Elsa belted out “Let It Go” in Frozen. It gives you the perfect ice queen look. Add a shag cut to it, and you’ve got yourself a killer look.
9. Jet Black Shag
I love growing out my hair, but split ends and dryness make it look dull. The shag cut is a lifesaver for these hair issues. Getting regular trims will keep your hair looking fresh.
10. Dissociated Shag
Notice how there’s actually one main layer here. It is dissociated from the ends and stands out. The red-hued tips accentuate the layers without looking too overpowering.
11. The ‘90s Shag
This hairstyle was huge in the ‘90s. The only difference is it was shorter then. You can find innumerable celebs sporting this look. While it’s been gone for a while, it appears to be making a comeback with more teens opting for a medium length version of this cut.
12. Curled Modern Shag
The modern shag is sophisticated, thanks to its layers that start a little below the crown. Rather than the “stand out” layers of the classic shag, the modern shag is more about subtlety and style.
13. Classic Layered Shag
This is the perfect haircut for teens in school and college. It has stylish layers without being too long, which makes it easy to maintain. If you tie your hair in a pony or a bun, the layers will make it look effortlessly fashionable.
14. The Face-Framer Shag
Multiple layers paired with side bangs make up this haircut. The bangs make your face look longer and leaner. The multiple layers of flicked in and out ends accentuate your face shape and lines.
15. Smooth Shag
The smooth shag looks super sleek. Its side layers are combed out while the back layers are curled at the ends. You can achieve this look with the help of a round brush and a blow dryer. Get some highlights or lowlights to add dimension to your locks.
16. Choppy Shag
Say hello to the choppy shag or, as I like to call it, the modern emo look. This hairstyle is comprised of multiple layers with choppy ends. The choppy ends accentuate the layers and hair texture. Add some honey blonde highlights, and you’ll be ready to belt out “Sk8er Boi”!
17. Upturned Ends
Upturned ends, in my opinion, are an underrated style. They add volume to your hair without looking too over the top. They add a suave touch to your locks while making them look thicker.
18. The Winter Shag
The layers of this shag are not spread all around the head. They’re mainly concentrated at the sides. Towards the ends, they’re cut all around. This will add dimension to your hair. Let’s not forget about the color that is perfect for the winter!
19. Spring Ends
The ends of this shag cut look like springs. (I’m talking about the springs that make your bed bouncy.) The springy ends do the same for your hair. They make your hair look voluminous and flowy.
20. Thinning Layers
Since the layers are thinned out, this shag is best-suited for women with thick hair. I like the feathered and uneven layers. They add an angsty vibe to the hairstyle. This haircut looks great in a high ponytail.
21. Lowlighted Shag
We’ve often heard of highlights, but lowlights never seem to make the headlines. Depending on your hair color, lowlights can really help frame your face and add depth to your locks. While highlights tend to pop, lowlights make your natural hair color stand out.
22. Unicorn Shag
A shag cut is a great way to flaunt your hair color. Whether it’s just highlights or a complete color change, opt for a feathered ends shag, and you won’t be disappointed. The feathered ends also make your hair color look a bit faded out and texturized.
23. Soft Ends
Soft ends and shaggy layers go hand in hand. When paired together, they add tons of texture to your hair. They also add volume to your tresses to give you flawless bouncy locks.
24. Soft Shag
In this shag cut, the layers themselves look soft. This has been achieved by finishing each layer in long, thinned-out ends. This makes the shag appear much softer and also helps soften your face lines.
25. The Mature Shag
This haircut is opted by women over forty. It is simple and to the point. The layers are easy to style and add texture to the locks. The layers also add depth, making your locks look thicker.
26. The Messy Shag
Messy hair is all the rage. Everyone wants that perfect “I just got out of bed, but I’m this stunning” look. The shag cut will give you that flawlessly messy but stylish look. However, if you have curly hair, you’ll need to be prepared for frizz.
27. Razor-Cut Shag
This shag has been cut with the help of a razor. The light brown blend adds dimension, depth, and texture to these locks, making them look healthy and lush.
28. The Mermaid Shag
Mermaid hair is a timeless trend. Blending mermaid hair with a shag gives you this stunning hairstyle. It is already very stylish, but the color amps it up even more. The sharp ends accentuate the layers, which balances out with the color.
29. The Lob Shag
‘Lob’ is short for long bob. Whatever your bob may be, adding shag layers can make your hair look thicker and livelier. Thin out your ends to accentuate the hair color and volume.
30. Soft Shaggy Layers
Sometimes, the key is to go soft. This is a drastic change from the classic shag cut. The classic shag is all about layers accentuated with sharp and flicked-out ends. This cut is softer and more balanced.
It’s stunning what a medium shag can do to your hair. It can add volume and make it look healthier than ever. Consult your hairstylist to find out which one will work best for you. Which medium shag hairstyle do you want to opt for? Comment below and let me know!

How would you describe this look?
The shag is my favorite! This shape works so well on many different textures. Based on the hair texture and face shape, you can alter where you concentrate their fringe. With the loose textured lines, it also grows out incredibly well. Monica usually goes about 4 months in between haircuts, and it still looks great!
It is an excellent choice for someone that is looking to create a little bit more movement in their hair. If you have any bit of wave, a shag haircut will bring that out and accentuate all the right features. With the heavy concentration on the fringe area, it even looks cute when pulled into a pony.
For Monica’s color, we chose a natural but bright balayage. She has a gorgeous natural level 7/8 hair, so we lift her to a beachy level 10, concentrating on her ends and fringe area. I applied the color heavier at the bottom and had much finer sections throughout the top. The variation in color application creates movement and keeps the roots super low maintenance.
Any advice for someone considering it?
The shag is super versatile, so many people can consider this look. You can vary the fringe length and overall length to create more subtle or more dramatic shapes. I would not do this haircut on someone with very thin/fine hair though. It will take too much weight out from the bottom and make their hair appear thinner.
It is ideal for someone that has a bit of wave/texture in their hair. This cut will bring more texture out and they may even be able to let it air dry for the best look. Depending on the texture, I usually recommend that the client uses a comb to blow dry their fringe are first. Then, apply a wave mister (Kevin Murphy Killer waves, Hair resort, or Arrojo Wave Mister) throughout the hair, working it in and scrunching it with your fingers. I would then lightly dry the roots to give the hair some volume. Lastly, I would twist some pieces around my fingers and let the rest air dry!
Less is more with this look for sure. It is great as second or third-day hair as well, just blast some dry shampoo throughout and go.
Easy Straight Bob
Q&A with style creator, Sammie Senior Stylist @ Hugo Salon in Kensington, MD
How would you describe this look?
The cut is a super “in” look as it’s a more blunt cut, angled bob, and the color absolutely has the rooted, “lived in” feel that most clients are striving for since maintenance is low but still feels intentional. What I like most about this cut and color is that it’s an effortless everyday look.
Any advice for someone considering it?
I think clients considering this look really have to think about their own hair type. Someone with very thick, coarse hair, it probably wouldn’t lay quite the same on them. Even though face shape can play a part in determining if this look will work for you, you could always adjust the length to suit.
As far as what products a client would want to have at home, I think a volume mousse for blow drying and a dry texture spray for finishing to give it a little grit and separation. I would blow dry this pretty much all the way through without a brush as you wouldn’t want a totally smooth round feel for this. This look has a daily low maintenance and doesn’t require so much time in the morning.
How would you describe this look?
This is a 1970’s rock ‘n roll shag. The best thing about this look is that it’s designed to work with the client’s natural hair texture. It’s low maintenance but edgy and unique, in comparison to the long blonde balayage’s that are popular right now.
Any advice for someone considering it?
Go for it! The great thing about the shaggy look is that it can be tailored to any face shape and length! It easily adds the appearance of length or width to one’s facial structure. It’s also very easy and fun to style at home!
Edgy Razor Cut
Q&A with style creator, Kristeen Wade Stylist / Owner @ Belu Salon Tanning & Spa Yakima and Belu Salon Kennewick
How would you describe this look?
I would say this is a trendy version of the bob. By adding negative space within the cut it creates more movement allowing you to see more texture in darker hair and removes the thickness in thicker hair. Razor cuts are a perfect way to achieve this look.
What I love about this cut is the versatility it gives. Whether it’s curly or straight, power dried or round brushed, you create a different look all together yet still long enough to put up in the front.
Any advice for someone considering it?
I would say go for it if you’re wanting a sassy change of pace. This look is not your everyday soccer mom bob. It makes a stronger statement of edge that will have you getting compliments from many people. This look can be perfect for the guest with thick hair, round, oval, or heart-shaped face.
Its texture and length make it easy for styling straight or curly. Using a good styling lotion or cream as well as a heat protectant, foaming pomade, and hairspray are the steps towards creating this look. I spray hairspray on my fingertips and run it through the ends of some of the finished curls to make the texture stand out even more. You can power dry this look upside down or be more structured with it by using a round brush. It’s also perfect for those added-money pieces of balayage color around the face!
Cute Inverted Bob
Q&A with style creator, Giigii Gahlan Junior Hairstylist @ Mandys Art Studio in Surrey, BC
How would you describe this look?
This is a very low maintenance cut. For people who don’t have too much time in their day to day life to be spending hours on their hair, this cut is perfect! Growing into the years as a hairstylist, I’ve always seen the struggle people with medium length hair go through to find a cut that’s not too short but also has an edgy/different kind of look to it. This cut gives the client everything they want.
It’s longer and more shaped/angled in the front where the client sees the most of their cut, so it’s very important to keep the front very strong. It’s dramatically angled and shorter in the back to give it an edgy kind of look and not the same old one length bob.
This cut can be styled straight or curly! Looks amazing in both styles. However, not just the cut but the color is also one of my faves. I have done a pair up of a funky color at the top for a lot of vibrancy and underneath is a darker color that shadows along with the funky color and make it appear even brighter. It’s all in the illusion when it comes to funky colors!
Any advice for someone considering it?
My client will first of all need to be someone who doesn’t want to spend too much time on their hair at home, for whatever reasons they have. If they are also more on the edgy side then this is my go-to for a cut!
If my client is a woman who is a housewife and has 3 young kids to take care of but she still wants to focus on herself and have the same confidence as before, then this cut works for her! This is also a cut that many of my businesswoman clients have done. These women are so busy in their day to day life they need something short and easy to style kind of cut. Keeping all that in consideration, the hair type (wavy, straight, curly) doesn’t matter for this cut.
It looks super cute in all hair types. Just keep in mind that when they have curly hair it will dry and bounce up so you will need to cut a little bit longer than you normally would! Other than that I’ve done it in all hair types and the results have been awesome. If you can see, I haven’t layered this bob. Two reasons for that: the funky color would have looked choppy and second my client already has tons of volume.
She didn’t need that extra bounce. However, if another client needs some volume and bounce especially at the crown area I would totally go in and add a few layers! As for the color, it’s different preferences for everyone. Some like a little color in their life and others like to keep it the natural blondes and browns. It’s all on my client’s preference. Personally, I love doing colors!
How would you describe this look?
I would call this an undercut bob. The back is not stacked at all, keeping it modern. It has just a slight undercut, so it can work for those with dense hair as well. This color combination is flattering on so many skin tones – it’s warm without being too red. I took alternating slices and weaves with a neutral auburn shade and lightener and then toned at the bowl with a golden beige. Also, this cut is so easy and quick to style!
Any advice for someone considering it?
I personally think cuts like this look best styled straight with some volume in the back. If your hair has a lot of texture and you’re not committed to styling daily, it might not be for you. I sprayed Kenra blow dry spray all over and rough dried about 70% and then sprayed Kenra root lifter at the roots and round brushed for volume and smoothness.
Stylish Stacked Bob
Q&A with style creator, Erin Boswell Hairstylist / Colorist @ The Beauty Lounge in Brentwood, CA
How would you describe this look?
A graduated textured A-line is for the client who is looking to make a statement when she enters any room. She is bold, she is a trendsetter, she is fierce, and most of all she is confident!
What I like most about this haircut is how versatile it is. The use of a root boost for added volume and a round brush blow out make for a perfect everyday polished look or for a night on the town – just add a few tousled waves to the lengths. The addition of bold slices of color really sets off the shape of this haircut.
Any advice for someone considering it?
This haircut does require styling to achieve this look, I recommend the use of a root boost to help achieve the lift all around and a dry powdered texturized to help with adding a little grit and movement into the hair to showcase the movement throughout the haircut.
It is a great shape for those with medium to thick hair, as well as for those with a busy schedule. The use of dry shampoo will help you restyle with added texture for day two!
How would you describe this look?
The inspiration for us was the 70’s disco era. (Think Diane Von Furstenberg). The added layers on top of the soft graduation created the lift at the crown. The fringe gives it an updated feel.
I love how soft this look is and how easily maintained it is. If she wanted to grow her hair, she can from this point.
Any advice for someone considering it?
Firstly, I would find out how often my curly haired client wears it natural. Does she straighten her hair often? I think a truly modern haircut is relatively low maintenance. Products are important for curly hair as it tends to be dry and sometimes frizzy. Not everyone looks good with a fringe, and be careful cutting around the face with curly hair, as it will jump a lot so less is more in this case.
How would you describe this look?
This layered bob is enhanced perfectly with a gorgeous rich copper color. Not only does it give the appearance of thickness down to the application of a global color but also it is easily multifunctional to style. Worn straight an sleek for everyday wear or with a tousled natural wave for more of a statement look. The best part of the look is the way both color and cut are quite strong but they beautifully complement one another it’s a perfect balance between the two.
Any advice for someone considering it?
The beauty of the bob haircut is it suits many different face shapes and hair texture’s from fine hair to thick. It is a style that requires a styling product which will give hold and shine to the hair, therefore, creating volume. It can be worn sleek and straight for day to day or waved with straightening iron’s or wand for an evening out. Shadowrun Dragonfall [Review]
The 2013 Kickstarter-fueled return to the cult cyberpunk setting. On the one hand, it’s a really strong RPG that pays respect to the beloved 16-bit games. The pacing is snappy, the systems are enjoyable to play around with, and while the setting isn’t quite as unique as it was twenty-five years ago, it’s still unusual enough to help invigorate the experience. I mean, this vision of a dystopian cyberpunk future is almost adorably retro at this point, like looking back at the 1960s idea of where the space race would lead us. The writing quality is strong enough that those feelings of quaintness are quickly shaken as you get into the plot. On the other hand, the iOS release was extremely buggy at launch, the developer was slow to fix anything, and it’s still missing content from the PC version, a situation that will likely never be resolved. The game has a tendency to grab you by the wrist and drag you along, with little in the way of role-playing options or any real agency on your part. That’s a valid choice and I enjoy many games that use that kind of design, but at least where I’m concerned, I tend to feel that Shadowrun RPGs are best when they’re a bit more open-ended.
With all that said, a couple of patches down and a ridiculous price drop or two later, it’s an easy recommendation to any iPad-owning RPG fan, even with its faults. Most importantly, the developer seemed to have heard the criticisms of the original game when they sat down to create its first expansion, Shadowrun: Dragonfall – Director’s Cut ($2.99). On iOS, this is a stand-alone release of the Director’s Cut, and that’s probably the most natural way to present it. The game’s setting and story are almost entirely disconnected from the original. Instead of Seattle, you’re in Berlin. While your personally-created runner might be the same one from the first game if you want to stretch your imagination far enough, they’re just as easily someone entirely new. The mechanics are nearly identical to those in the original game, making it all the more impressive just how different Dragonfall feels.
In case you haven’t played the other Shadowrun games, let’s go over the basic details. The Shadowrun games are based on a pen and paper RPG created by BattleTech publishers FASA in the late 1980s. The setting is a bizarre hybrid of dystopian cyberpunk and traditional fantasy. Basically, plug orcs, dragons, and elves into Blade Runner with a healthy layer of Snow Crash and you’ve got Shadowrun. The title refers to secret operations that are carried out by people known as runners. FASA made some pretty good connections back in the day to have video games produced based on their licenses, with the most famous fruits of that being the classic Mech Warrior series of games. Shadowrun had a couple of games made for the 16-bit consoles, and in a break from the norm, they were completely different from each other. Both were RPGs, however, and the shared setting helped create a feeling of consistency between them.
At release, they were critically-appreciated for their quirky nature, but undeniably niche when it came to market performance. The games have been played by many since then, and are now considered cult classics. We’ll save the rest of the history lesson for a later date, but suffice it to say, fan demand for more RPGs in the setting was very strong, and Kickstarter helped the original creator of Shadowrun make that happen. Shadowrun Returns, and by extension Dragonfall, are not identical to the 16-bit games, but they hit most of the right notes. Done up as isometric RPGs, the games feature light exploration interspersed with tactical turn-based combat. You can customize your character to an almost ridiculous extent, leading to very different playstyles depending on what you emphasize. Unfortunately, I felt that Shadowrun Returns didn’t make the most of this customization due to its linearity, but that’s one of the main areas where Dragonfall diverges.
The back story has you playing as a runner of your own design who recently moved to Berlin after a job gone awry. You join up with an old associate of yours named Monika who leads a crew of her own. On a supposed milk run mission, something goes very wrong, with your team stumbling on secrets that they might have been better off not uncovering. It’s up to you to pick up the pieces and figure out what is going on. That same crew will be by your side through thick or thin as long as you don’t get anyone killed, and their presence is one of the more pleasant ways Dragonfall improves on its predecessor. It was hard to get attached to characters in Shadowrun Returns since they were either generics or not around for very long. Here, you’ll get to learn an awful lot about your teammates, and whether you love them or hate them, you’ll at least feel something towards them. This attachment helps add a bit more tension to the combat, even though you can’t really lose anyone permanently except through the plot.
Better still, it gives you options. Dragonfall feels a bit more like a Bioware RPG in that your teammates all have things they need to resolve. You can ignore that for the most part if you want, but if you go digging, you’ll find plenty of rewarding character development waiting for you. The structure of the game also resembles that of the games from Canada’s favorite RPG developer. While the opening is fairly linear, the game opens up significantly once you reach a certain point. You’ll work from a hub area, taking on missions in whichever order you’d like. This goes on for quite a while before the game needs to pull you back on the rails for its exciting conclusion. That end comes far later than it did in Returns. Dragonfall is probably twice the length of that game, yet still manages to maintain its solid pacing and captivating storytelling. As is usually the case in this setting, there are a couple of solid twists along the way that should have you reeling, and everything is told with a suitably cheesy but fun to read tone.
From an atmosphere point of view, it improves on its already strong predecessor, but it still suffers from one of its main weak points. The characters feel believable enough, and the dialogue reinforces the world, but the sets let things down a bit. Areas are a bit too small and empty, feeling more like movie sets than actual places. Oh, the details are done well, to be sure. Everything looks used and dirty the way it ought to, but it somehow also feels sterile, more like a museum exhibit of dystopian Earth than the real thing. I know a lot of that is down to the budget and the scope that it necessitated, but it’s especially noticeable in a game that’s more open the way Dragonfall is. All of the artificial barriers that keep the scant number of residents firmly roped in feel completely arbitrary, as though one good shove could send the whole thing toppling over.
That’s probably the only serious weak point in the game, though. Everything else is a treat. The combat is intense, strategic, and just plain fun. The AI has its quirks but the game’s difficulty seems built to accommodate them, so it’s not much of a detriment to the overall experience. The cyberspace aspect of the game meshes well with the regular combat, playing fast and loose with time itself in ways that add even more excitement. You have total control over how your character develops, allowing you to make them a tech-savvy decker, a rough and tumble melee specialist, a gun-toting brute, or even someone who punches people to death like it’s nothing because nature, man. Each of these builds offers something different to the group, and you’re free to experiment because any paths you choose to leave unexplored in your development are generally covered by at least one other member of your squad.
The controls work very well here, just as they did in the last game. It feels like it was designed around tablet play, and that hotly-contested save issue from the last time around has been addressed right of the gate. You can save anytime you want, though the game will auto-save at various times if you’re the careless sort. Speaking of careless, be very careful if you have to suspend the game for any reason. Just about anything will push Dragonfall out of memory on most iPads, so always save before you quit playing. On the whole, it’s a considerably less buggy experience than the original release was, with a recent patch plugging most of the worst holes in the game. That’s not to say it’s flawless in that regard. The game sometimes gets bogged down with slow loading and choppy scrolling, and older devices might suffer crashes here and there.
Generally, when I talk about RPGs, I find myself sorting them into little boxes. There are many games I love for their interesting stories and characters, and other games where I fell in love with the gameplay systems and compelling designs. The less common category includes games that balance both sides of that equation well, and I feel pretty confident in chucking Shadowrun Dragonfall in that box. People who play RPGs for character customization and fun battles will be quite satisfied, while those who just like to get into a good story with characters you grow attached to are also going to have an excellent time. This is an altogether greater experience than Shadowrun Returns, and I’m extremely impressed at the improvement on the developer’s part. I’m only sad that iOS gamers won’t get to see the next step in that improvement with the series shifting over to computers exclusively, but given how much this game seems to be bursting at the tech seams already, I guess I can’t blame them. That shouldn’t dissuade you from picking up this superb stand-alone gem, however.

20 Trendy Ways to Wear Short Angled Bob Haircuts

20 Trendy Ways to Wear Short Angled Bob Haircuts
A short angled bob is a ladies' haircut cut shorter at the back and longer at the front. Practical but extra fashionable and versatile – this combo makes this hot cut the most desirable Bob Style since the beginning of time!
You've certainly seen photos of Hollywood fashion icons Regina King, Gabrielle Union, Emily Ratajkwoski and Jourdan Dunn, who round their voguish short hair in an angled cut the Internet. Her hairdressers made sure to take her face details and hair type into account when making her free hair cuts.
Just as Orlando-based hair specialist Gerilyn Ghaisarzadeh blends the face and personality of her clients with the right hairstyle and even vibrant colors – you'll find a long list of ways to style an angled bob cut. Style with beach waves for a carefree, boho atmosphere or iron it straight and slim to exquisitely define that angle – you will not go out to try out your curls.
Its versatility is not the only amazing thing about angled bobsleds. Easy maintenance for short cuts, there are also additional fashion points!
chopped off blonde with and undercut
This cut is timeless and usually low maintenance. We shaved it under to make a small undercut because her hairline has some cowlicks. It was a fun way to help this problem and look super cute, even if she wants to tie it back a bit.
My favorite part of it is that it should look carefree and effortless, so if she styles it in the morning, she does not have to think about it anymore! We went with cooler tones for her highlights, and I just think that it fits so well with her skin tone.
I think this style works well with hair on the thinner side. It looks more body. It's great for any lifestyle, as this particular customer is in the active military living on the base, with two young children, I could add.
Especially bobs with this hair type are so easy to style and always look cute. A few passes with the curling iron, and she is good to go!
Pine-length Bob
This look is a classic, and I feel like it's going to go out of style. It is good if you still want length around your face, but still have some fullness, without being too short.
Be ready to style it everyday. This is not a wash-and-go deal. A good blowjob will do wonders with this style, depending on your texture.
Wavy and short
I think my client describes this look best as cool-mom Bob. We wanted something that, when styled and curled, makes it fun and cheeky, but even if it's just blown out, it's slim and still has a great shape.
I think the versatility of this look is my favorite part of it. For styling, I used Color Wow's Carb Infused Dream Cocktail for extra volume, curled in alternate directions with my Croc Hybrid Iron, and then sprayed Cult-Favorite Hairspray from Color Wow.
Usually, when a customer is considering a shorter look, I remind them that short hair is sometimes more work than long hair. In most cases, in addition to the analysis of the face shape, the actual length is determined if you want to put it on.
Not all customers want it so short that ponytails can be made, so daily styling is usually something that needs to be done. Then I recommend a product for her hair type. Whether that's for straightening frizzy hair or inflating the volume depends on each customer, but no matter what, I feel every customer needs something with thermal protection.
I always talk to my clients about how to use products and then how to style because I want them to feel comfortable and confident and to re-create their look at home.
chopped off with an undercut
This is a choppy, angled short bob with a Peekaboo shaved undercut, though it is not visible in the picture. I love its versatility: elegant but edgy and modern. She rocks her natural color, embracing her amazing gray hair that blends so well with the natural smoky blonde.
I would ask if she is an active person or not and how long she would have to get to make the haircut better for her lifestyle. If she prefers to put her hair in a ponytail, we may need to rethink the length and keep it a little longer. If not, we can go even shorter.
Short hair does not need much care besides using the right products. In essence, I would recommend using a good product before drying – like a mousse or a texturizing lotion – and a styling wax / paste to give that extra texture and fun. I think, "Less is more." It takes a few weeks to get used to short hair, but trust me when I say it's addictive.
Blonde Balayage
This is a crisp classic form, but with the subtle disheveled movement and golden tones – I would describe this look as a subtle softness. What I love about this look is that the overall shape is visually appealing. The back is short and stacked while maintaining the length around the face for a soft, feminine, versatile look. I added golden highlights to their warm caramel base to create beautiful depth and dimension for a stunning style.
This timeless style has so many different variations that can be adapted to the specific needs and desires of each client. Being honest and real with your stylist about the amount of time you are willing to invest in styling will help him / her recommend suitable products for your hair and provide styling tips.
This timeless style can really be refined and detailed in so many ways to make it suitable for all hair textures and densities. It's amazing for a girl on the go, professionals, young and mature women !!!
For thin hair
This look is the perfect balance of sexy and chic for me. This cut is one of my absolute favorite haircuts for women with thin hair. My favorite part of this cut is how versatile he is. You can wear it elegant and sexy or add some soft waves for a playful, soft look.
If my client considers this haircut, I ask these questions. What is your everyday life? How much time do you want to spend on your hair every day? Which styling products and tools do you have at home?
This cut is super easy to style, but I always tell my customer that they need to blow dry their hair with a round brush to achieve the sleek look as pictured here, then finish with a straightener to smooth the sides to give it the sharp appearance.
The perfect face shape for this cut is round, as it will lengthen your face, but I love this cut on most face shapes, as you can adjust how long and angled the face will be to fit any face shape.
I would rate this hair cutting medium for maintenance as you need it trimmed about every 5-8 weeks to keep the shape.
Mostly, all hair types can deduct that. It all depends on the perfect styling products to make styling easier. My absolute favorite products are from Unite Hair. In this look, I've used a product called Unite Lazer Straight and Unite Boosta Volumizing Spray.
With pony and layers
This short angled bob haircut is fun and flirty. Their natural texture works with this cut. This kind of slightly jagged look is really the moment. It is for women who want to look together, as well as stylish, but want to spend little time in the morning.
This cut is paired with an edgy asymmetrical fringe to make it a little more fun. The neckline is soft and textured to give more of a feminine feel.
She has a small amount of waves in her hair, but with the right texturing and product usage, the wave jumps up and creates a ruffled beach wave look. The way I styled was easy. While it was wet, I have some Catwalk Sea Salt Spray from TIGI. The back was dried naturally. In the front, I dried everything and made volume, while intermittently scrubbing it with my hand. After drying, I sprayed the sea salt again and it collapsed. That took care of every frizz.
To give it even more of an edgy feel, you can use a texturizing paste to make the look stand out. After styling it would be a funny look to add some accessories. This is a simple, on-the-go, low-maintenance style and can be styled with just one product.
This cut is suitable for all ages. If you're worried about the face shape, do not do it. If you feel like you have a round face, add more volume, longer front length and longer bangs. This cut could be honestly personalized on every face shape.
Stacked Short Angled Bob
This bob is a classy hi-end style – a hairstyle that makes it easy to wear comfortable clothing to stylish clothing while still looking stylish and trendy. I wanted to choose a color that has expressed something deep and refined. I also wanted to make this bob, so when you get ready with a busy life, it just falls in place, creating a simple way of on-the-go and still stylish.
You have to have the right bone structure to have a raised bob. To achieve this eye-catching look, it would be best to have thick to coarse hair. It will make the Bob look more defined.
I like to use a very light anti-frizz cream to smooth out any fly. It tends to give the heeled Bob a more elegant look that creates sophistication for people who are busy living and do not have too much time to spend every day on their hair.
For curly hair
This haircut is a short mid-heeled bob with natural diffused curls. My favorite thing about this haircut is how it shows its natural curls. It also shows that even curly girls can have a nice angled bob.
Make sure it fits your lifestyle. This fabulous lady was a lifeguard who wanted something simple but stylish so she could still pull it up when she worked.
She also wanted to work with her natural curls, so we discussed what products she should use and decided to use Amikas Plus Size to help keep the shape of her curl and softness, without crunch having normal mousse.
Layered Short Angled Bob
I love this layered and bent Bob, because he is very slim and versatile. This is one of my favorite cuts. It has the edge that you can wear it smoothly to work, but still give it some beach waves and have some fun.
The color is very dimensional, although it gives the appearance of a neutral brown base, unless you are in natural light. There is a mix of four shades of brown from mocha to chestnut brown. Then we have their crown and glory section, as I call it, where it is heavily highlighted with super fine pieces as well as balayaged everywhere to still give the soft look of their natural base color as it starts to grow. So you have the best of both worlds.
Do you know that you can have fun with it! It requires some work, so be prepared to style it. Whether it's blowing out a round brush, ironing flat or using a wand, use products that help with styling, protect from heat and provide a little grip.
A good leave-in conditioner prep spray to restore the hair to its normal pH, a styling mousse, a blow-out balm, a shine / smoothing serum and a thermal protector are an absolute must. Short angled bob cuts like this have so many different styles to style – do not forget to be naughty!
Very short with a pony
This very short angled bob with pony is timeless, chic and easy to style.
I would tell you, blow-dry with a paddle brush to smooth it out and fight the ends that could turn the wrong way. You can also air-dry or use a diffuser to highlight the natural texture. Depending on the length, it can be worn with any face shape. It's definitely for someone with a hectic lifestyle who wants a manageable cut but still looks stylish.
Structured and springy
It's a dull bob with broken ends. I love that look because it's effortless and yet so chic!
This is ideal for curly or straight hair. This haircut needs a bit more maintenance by cutting every two to three months to wait.
For black hair
This is a shorter, angled bob with texture, and it is very naughty. It gives you attitude and confidence. Not many people can take that look away. One thing that I really like about it is that it attracts attention when you walk on the street. It shows the ability of the hairdresser and her technique. I have a lot to do with this haircut and style. What inspired me for this color look is autumn and winter. The dark tones, midnight blues and purple haze remind me of this season.
Everything depends on their face shape. If you have a shorter neck, accentuate it by pointing the neck and maybe stack it in the back. If you have a long neck, you might do more of an A-line bob.
What fascinates me about these types of haircuts is that it depends on the personality of the customer, and everything is customized and aligned with what suits them best. Maintenance wise, look at the haircut for about 8-9 weeks.
Maintenance at home is easy, and many times you just have to paddle dry and then iron flat. When one of my clients gets such a new look, part of the service is to teach them how to style it at home.
For round surfaces
This is the perfect short angled bob haircut for a round face. You will love to look at yourself in the mirror by wearing this beach wave hair on a light ginger color.
Long front, short back
This long front, short rear angled bob cut is cheap for most ladies with straight thin brunette hair. With subtle bangs, this haircut will complement your innocent and beauty kings-like face.
For thick hair
Her charisma shines best when combined with this stunning hairstyle for thick hair. The textured, long-angled bob cut is the ultimate in daring. Do it extra with the soft balayage and ombre hair color.
The rear view
The perfect short angled bob hairstyle does not look good on the front, but also has to be polished on the back. This French haircut on a natural balayaged brown and blond hair is a work of art by stylist Ryan Amacker. He proves that a first-class haircut and style "begins with a thorough consultation to determine what's best for your lifestyle and face shape."
For fine hair
Make the glass-looking effect of your hair your best advantage by styling this simple, short, angled bob cut with loose and thin waves. With blond highlights, this is the cutest hairstyle you can get for fine hair.
With side swept pony
Wanted a naughty hairstyle for your naughty attitude? Do not look any further. It's one of the coolest short angled bob haircuts you'll see. What is reinforced with more texture and volume on curls with laterally swept bangs. The rich, brunette balayage from look creator April Lancaster is enough to convince you to wear these now.
With pony
Are you the sweetest darling in your group? Combine your personality with a cute short angled bob with a pony. This is the right hairstyle for ladies with straight and straight hair on a combined brunette and brown hair color.

16 Stunning light brown hair with blond highlights ideas
A light brown hair with blond reflections is a hair color in which the base is an arbitrary light brunette shade, coupled with much brighter reflections. Unprecedented dimension and brightness are what you will instantly get with this trendy bronze (brown plus blond) hair color!
Blondes and brunettes do not always have to be enemies! Proven by the hotties Miranda Kerr, Lucy Hale and Ciara, these two bright shades work absolutely together to give you a soft and natural-looking mane regardless of length and hair type.
We all know that blonde has a wide variety of shades to work with, and it might be overwhelming at first. Keep in mind that cool blondes fit with cool toned hair bases. Warmer blonde tones can give you an intense, sun-kissed look and give your garments shine.
Highlights are also available in various forms – Balayage, Ombre, full or partial highlights. Your choice should not only depend on your style, but also on your lifestyle and commitment. An ombre can leave you more time between your next fix.
Suitable for all seasons, this flattering combination certainly defines a fun and flirtatious look! Let yourself be inspired to dare to switch to one of these popular looks on light brown hair with blond highlights!
Balayage highlights
How would you describe this look?
This look is a rich, dimensional, vibrant blonde. My favorite thing about this look is the richness of the lows against the bright blond pieces.
Any advice for someone considering it?
This is a great look for someone with middle brown to light brown hair. It is super low maintenance. It is also best for someone who likes to lure their hair, because it makes the dimensions really popular.
Strawberry blond highlights
How would you describe this look?
When I think of strawberry blonde, my first thought is that Blake Lively strawberry blonde that everyone wants! That was my inspiration for this color! When you make natural hair glow, you always want to choose a color that complements it.
I think to frame the face with more blonde and gradually fade into the crown, makes for a beautiful color! And of course, if you can have a seamless mixed color in a straight style, that's the ticket to beautiful hair! The lightening of the hair for the summer will highlight your hair more and more, changing colors for the seasons draw attention to your hair. We all want people to notice our hair!
Any advice for someone considering it?
I would recommend this color to anyone with natural brown hair or lighter hair! It is the most beautiful spring and summer color! Although it is important to understand how much your hair can tolerate when it comes to lightening and keeping it healthy.
Good products are the key! To get a smooth and silky blonde, I used Oribe Gold Lust Shampoo and Conditioner, Oribe Moisturizing Lotion and Oribe Split End Serum!
Reddish brown hair with blond highlights
How would you describe this look?
This look is easy-care "lived in color". I love the fact that when I make a balayage highlight, you can go months and the color still looks amazing, without the regrowth of a traditional slide highlight. She has super thick hair like myself, so I find long layers with some debulking to the ends always doing the trick, so you do not get that choppy look I find most clients complaining about with thick hair.
I love my Bioionic 1 1/4 in curling iron to achieve these stunning waves. This iron lures super fast and really smoothes every spasm in the hair, so it does the job quickly and easily. Because let's be honest, our life is too busy to spend an hour in the morning to do our hair!
Any advice for someone considering it?
I find this style and color perfect for the busy women who need to stay up to date but do not have time for all 4-week appointments.
For customers who are looking for easy-care colors, I always recommend to play their natural color. Keep your root color equal or close to it and add brightness points around the face or ends so you can stay months between appointments. When I designed them, I'm not crazy about products, because who has time for it! I stick to the basics of what they need. In her case, she has thick, coarse hair with a medium wave. My favorite line is now Loma, a more natural aloe-based line that leaves all the chemicals behind!
For her on towel-dried hair I used there smoothing cream and nourishing oil. The products are highly concentrated, so a little of it makes a big contribution. I was foaming her with a big round brush, nothing fancy, then I lured her hair with my 1 1/4 in iron. Then I took a pump more of the nourishing oil that rubbed my hands and applied it to the hair to give it more shine and tame all escapes.
Super easy – nothing special! It took me 25 minutes to blow dry and curl. With a little dry shampoo and an after-treatment with the iron, she should be able to get out of this style for a few days without having to wash herself again! I love Loma for making sure your products are not heavy or greasy on your hair!
Light brown hair with blond highlights
How would you describe this look?
As far as the view of my customer is concerned, I developed a freehand balayage highlighting technique. This gives me the creative freedom to customize their color to best suit me! One of my favorite pieces of this look is the multidimensionality of blond tones and ribbons. Overall, it has a beige tone with some popos of golden blond and a touch of gold as it gradually gets lighter and lighter.
Any advice for someone considering it?
Some tips for all those who are interested in this look are deciding whether to settle for a natural root image or to wish for more classic scalp highlights. Balayage is not for everyone, especially for customers who start with an earlier color. My client has the thickest hair and a little rough, perfect for a soft growth. Balayage is for anyone who can not come every 6 weeks, but wants to achieve that longevity of color. Purple Shampoo once or twice a week is a great way to show your blonde between appointments.
Blonde highlights and dimming
How would you describe this look?
This look is a soft blonde balayage. This guest came with a previously mature Balayage. We first cut 5 inches to refresh the ends and make it easier for them with their busy lifestyle. With this length she can wash and go or spend some more time curling and styling herself!
Next we added highlights with Schwarzkopf Blondme in a traditional foil technique. I cut the hair back from its partial line with diagonal slides. It is, of course, above a level 7, so we have left its base for extra dimensions. She had previously brightened ends, so that the foils for a softer look and rather a Balayage than an Ombré caused. Then I toned up with Redken Shades EQ.
This is a pretty low maintenance style. Since we have left their natural color at the base, the outgrowth will be easier and we can keep up with a few slides mostly around the face, then at each couple's appointment we will brush up the ends by stroking the balayage.
I would also recommend a toner between the color appointments. I used Joico's Defy Damage treatment to create all the shine! I styled it with a voluminous mousse and textured spray and lured it with the beachwaver.
Any advice for someone considering it?
This is a pretty soft, easy-care color! I would recommend this look to someone who is looking for a dimension in his hair, but does not have to be in the salon every 4 weeks.
This special guest has a natural level 7, thick, smooth hair texture. This look can vary depending on the natural level of the hair! She has a busy lifestyle at school and as an athlete, which allows for a simple "wash and go" style.
I would recommend this guest a toning shampoo and conditioner to keep pace between appointments. For the styling I would recommend a leave-in conditioner and a texture spray.
Honey blond highlights
How would you describe this look?
This dimensional honey blonde balayage radiates summer with a warm glow that brightens everyone's look. The best part is the fact that it looks super bright overall but still has many dimensions. She is not only solid blond, but also has a sun-cooled and natural look.
Any advice for someone considering it?
Most of the time I give golden blondes to customers who are about 50% gray and want to mix the silver into their natural base color. The warmer tones give the hair a more youthful appearance. Honey blond highlights are also less care compared to super ashy blondes. This is good for customers who do not want to come back often to tone their hair, or for customers with well water and other hard, mineral-filled shower water.
Curly light brown hair
How would you describe this look?
This is a dark blonde with dimensional highlights on long, naturally curly hair.
This guest has an amazing head of thick, naturally curly hair that has begun to turn gray. She is not ready for the commitment to durable color and had an old grown color that has faded and turned brassy. Her cut was also full-grown and out of shape.
We gave her some gentle blonde highlights to combine the lightness of the ends with the top. We then gave her a semi-permanent color gloss to blend in the gray that comes in, and then added a few toners to make her hair a more neutral and less warm / brusque color!
For her cut we have increased the length and given her long strata to catch the natural wave with which she is blessed!
Any advice for someone considering it?
If you have natural curls and want a light riot in freestyle, try long stretches and add texture to enhance your natural wave! I always say, "Let's work with what you have! Let your curls shine! "Good hair is only good without the help of suitable products!
If you have natural curls and want a light riot in freestyle, try long stretches and add texture to enhance your natural wave! I always say, "Let's work with what you have! Let your curls shine! "Good hair is only good without the help of suitable products!
All three of these products are suitable for all hair types.
Reddish brown hair with blond highlights
How would you describe this look?
This look is a dimensional balance. I've worked with the customer's natural warmth, and I love how it connects from a softer highlight near the root to a lighter, thicker piece of blonde at the ends. In addition, a heavier frame is created, but if kept close to the root naturally, it is low maintenance!
Any advice for someone considering it?
Be versatile with your styling – it can look great, but even better if it's wavy!
Caramel and blonde highlights
Shoulder-length hair with waves is enough to turn your head. What adds to that is the delicious blonde-brunette mix.
Ash brown hair with blond highlights
A new trend is in town! Mushroom brown hair seems to steal the limelight. Effortlessly handsome, highlights, waves and so on.
Platinum blonde highlights
Christmas arrived early with a freshly roasted chestnut dye job! Winter highlights made it all better.
Ash blonde highlights
For this reason, (hair) dreams are made! Twisted stripes on the back make him the perfect partner for this blonde Do.
Light Honey Brown Hair
The bordering of brown stripes on platinum hair is the pure hair conversion that anyone can safely pull through.
Light caramel brown hair
Midway brown and blond hair on long hair. Soft waves make this look even more extraordinary.
Light brown hair with blond highlights
The highlights here are not the usual eye-catching blonde color, but the variation fits in well with this brunette color!

The 19 hottest red Balayage hair color ideas at the moment
A red balayage is a hair color in which the hair is dyed with a freehand painting technique with red shades to achieve highlights or ombres. It is the dream of every fiery girl that comes true!
If you're looking for a sparkling change to revitalize your look, and yet do not want to commit to the care normally required for red hair, it's time to celebrate, because the answer to your request is here!
Californian hair artist Constance Robbins is known for making sweet waves even sweeter with this popular coloring job! With the various vibrant reds – cherry, wine, copper and reddish brown – you might be confused at first what color to try.
Here are a few tips to keep in mind!
Warm reds go best with yellow-toned skin colors, while cool, toned skin tones tend to blend in with darker reds. The use of color-safe shampoos is still a must to keep the vibrancy and color fresh.
This sweet mix will spice up your look and give your mane a dose of brightness and dimension! Let your strands sparkle with sparkling ruby colors when you try one of these gorgeous red balayage hair colors!
Brunette and red balayage hair
How would you describe this look?
This brilliant red is a multi-purpose red. I made a blonde balayage for this customer a few months ago and now she wanted something more daring. I kept their roots natural and used different reds depending on where the light was to create more dimension. I love how she can put her hair up and back to keep it more natural, and if she wants to show it, she can let it all down. I think waves help to create the dimensions and the intensity of the color.
Any advice for someone considering it?
I would keep in mind that it can be a maintenance-intensive paint. You would have to improve from time to time. I always recommend to my customers to use a good color-preserving shampoo and conditioner. Too hot styling tools make the color fade faster. And last but not least, if you consider it, do it! Colors are fun.
Dark red on dark hair
How would you describe this look?
What I love about this color is how the lighter red flows into the depth of the mahogany waves of her hair. My lovely client, of course, has wavy textured hair and wanted to see a stronger red in her already-colored, deep mahogany hair. So I wanted to create bold red pieces that complement their waves and contrast the darker red. Colors flowing like this go well with a haircut that gives the body, so I gave it medium-length layers and lots of texture.
Any advice for someone considering it?
Red should always be alive! Red pigments in hair color usually fade quickly and become dull if you do not keep up with the grooming. This means that you use colourfast, professional shampoo, conditioner and conditioner products. Depending on which products you use and how often you wash your hair, it determines how long the liveliness in your hair will last. I generally recommend updating it with your stylist every 6-8 weeks. My client works in a non-creative industry, so this color allows her to have fun, vivid red, while not being too overwhelming.
Bright red balayage highlights
How would you describe this look?
This look is a playful, real hair of the little mermaid! This vibrant, bright red color is cheerful and head-covering. My favorite thing about this color is that it has depth, fullness and brightness in one! I added depth by using rich natural tones at her base and lightened strands so that if I added Joico color intensity for all her red, she would have a variety of tones. As far as the cut is concerned, we have maintained their length and added long layers to maintain their fullness but still have some movement.
Any advice for someone considering it?
You should definitely be a fan of red hair! I feel most comfortable with customers who have had a red tone in the past, so they are satisfied with these sounds themselves. This would be recommended for someone with light skin and / or deep facial features, eyes / eyebrows, because of the depth in this color. You should be ready to inspire people with the brightness and be ready to commit themselves to maintenance. My customers with fashion or vivid tones can not wash themselves more than 2-3 times a week, buy colorfast and color-matched shampoos and are fans of dry shampoos!
Redbrown Balayage
How would you describe this look?
This look is a multi-tonal, reddish brown and copper-colored melt. To achieve this look, we have a subtle root dirt with a warmer color than their natural (4nw), followed by painting from the rooted area through the center parts in some areas and through ends in others (5c + 5cb and 7c) to depth and create dimension. For the ends and into some of the middle parts, I used a lighter copper (8c) to complete their multi-tonal color melt.
In order to illustrate the variety of color variety, we have opted for a soft, "beach-like" curl. To prepare her hair, we used a texturizing spray that contains heat protection. In this way we have some grip, color protection and a little extra grain. Post Curl we have applied another layer of the same spray for hold and volume.
Their longer layers give the perfect amount of movement and lift their style without looking dull or choppy. The high altitude and steep angle give soft layers to maintain the weight towards the ends to keep it as thick as possible while allowing for much stratification. This preserves the volume and the "bouncing" for stranded curls.
Any advice for someone considering it?
I would recommend evaluating how much time and energy you need to invest to get a warmer look. While technology has come a long way in modern hair color, red or copper tend to lose vitality fairly quickly. Make sure you're ready to use high quality color care products at home to extend your preferred color. Ask your stylist if your target hair color is right for your skin tone and eye color. There are (fortunately) extensive options when it comes to warm colors – so research and make sure that you feel comfortable with your color technician. If you do not want to visit the salon often, you may opt for a copper or gold shade that has a longer life than some reds that will fade after 4 weeks. Keep in mind that the canvas you use also applies paint over objects. Do you have lighter or ashier hair? It will most likely fade faster than applying to hair that has a deeper pigment or a warmer tone.
Redheads are fun and have a lively mood, whether natural or not. I would say, go for the colors that are right for you as an individual and have fun with it! Pay attention only to the protection (UV protection, heat protection, colourfast shampoo / conditioner, red / copper reinforcing conditioner, etc.)!
Reddish brown balayage
How would you describe this look?
This is a red balayage hair color combined with teasy lights to give her a softer look and help her break the box color she had on her hair before. I love how this shade of red still looks natural, so it might work if a customer just wants a subtle change!
Any advice for someone considering it?
This look is 100% customizable. If you are nervous, start with small and subtle teasy lights, then get more courageous with more! The color red may be overwhelming for some people, but take it slowly and you'll love it!
Natural red color with caramel balayage
How would you describe this look?
The way I would describe this look is simply very natural, encompassing its natural reds, but giving it an extra color pop with the Balayage. This type of balayage is ideal for someone who already has red or reddish-brown tones in their hair, but he wants to add a small dimension, but not too much to remove from the red.
Any advice for someone considering it?
This style looks best with someone who has medium thick to thick hair. This type of balayage can take three to four months, with only one glaze or toner remaining every 6-8 weeks. The blown out beach waves are my favorite. They are really effortless and can last a few days. For the best hair length I would say, shoulder length or longer. With a good, dry texture spray, you can never go wrong to give the beach a vivid look.
Blond and red Balayage hair
How would you describe this look?
This red velvet color melt is actually 4 different reds from dark to light. The application was done in two different sessions to avoid blonde blemishes. The red was applied to damp hair to allow for easy saturation and melting.
Any advice for someone considering it?
It is best if you are a blonde. The blonde is actually the most difficult, by raising the hair to the desired level and then applying the red. Remember that red and blonde shades need more care. You need to use a professional shampoo and update your color every 4-6 weeks if it fades.
Copper red and light brown balayage
How would you describe this look?
This look is a chic redhead with a touch of copper and pop gold. Our favorite thing about TwoDo is having a fun model with great hair.
This hairstyle was a team work, as Olga did the cut and I did the color and the blowout. I love the way her hair is framed with layers around her face, which increases the dimension and makes the paint burst.
For their hair color, I used Calura from Oligo and added drops of pure Goldwell pigments in red and gold. For the blowout, I protected her hair with Kerastase Ciment Thermique from the heat and achieved a bouncy, silky look with a large round brush.
Any advice for someone considering it?
As a glowing redhead, your color will always be your best accessory, but we always remind our customers that care is important both in the salon and at home. To make this hair look amazing, we recommend that you refresh every 5 to 8 weeks.
We would recommend anyone with this hair color and style to invest in high quality hair products and always use a sulfate free shampoo for dyed hair. We recommend Oribe's Beautiful Color Shampoo and Beautiful Color Conditioner because it is gentle and luxurious and really helps maintain the color.
There is one more thing, depending on the hair of the customer and the exact color, sometimes we prescribe a Goldwell Softcolor Mousse for a color enhancer at home. It comes in different shades and keeps the sound alive between visits.
Deep red hair with highlights
How would you describe this look?
This is a bold, funny look for someone who likes to be noticed! I find that I maintain my colors, even fashion colors, more roots allow for better outgrowth and look good longer.
Any advice for someone considering it?
Almost anyone can wear this shade of red, but it's a struggle to maintain liveliness. Professional shampoo is a must! In addition, the customer must come in to update the color monthly. The great thing about raising hair to a level of 9-10 at first is it sets the basis for many other colors afterwards. This customer was light purple and now we are following a blonde look.
Burgundy Balayage
How would you describe this look?
This look is a "cool burgundy-colored balayage". I love that you do not have to use bleach to get that look if you have virgin hair! If you already have an existing balayage, you can simply throw a semi-permanent color over it. I think it's great for someone who wants to give his look a fun color without getting mad with the cut! Also someone who is looking for something funky with color without having to do too much damage to his hair.
Any advice for someone considering it?
If you take that look into account, you just know that it can fade a little bit fast as it is in the red-violet family. A good trick when washing would be the use of cooler water, it helps to fade. Be sure to use a color-protective shampoo and conditioner! Even a color-giving shampoo / conditioner with great help prolongs the color. If you want to get the color, it is a good idea to come back every 4-6 weeks to refresh it.
I think this color looks great on many skin tones, especially on olive! It's very versatile in terms of styling, looks great, straight, curly, even in pigtails! A good serum with heat protection helps to highlight the shine and close the cuticle, which keeps the color more vibrant.
Copper and blond balayage
How would you describe this look?
I love how the bright pieces play with the layers of the haircut. The rich copper tones in the root shade harmonize perfectly with the sun-cooled blonde and create gloss and contrast. The Beach Wave styling is effortless, yet polished and sophisticated. The styling gives the look movement and emphasizes the balayage highlights.
Any advice for someone considering it?
This red balayage hair color is perfect for a woman on the go who does not want to care-intensive hair. Someone who wants to see more dimension and brightness through his mids and ends. I can paint these accent pieces to complement any face shape! Multi-dimensional tones are suitable for all skin types and can be easily adapted to the needs and desires of most customers.
They naturally grow beautifully and last for 8-12 weeks, so only the basic color needs refreshing and a shine on the ends must be achieved. Reds tend to fade easily, so home care is crucial! Kerastase Chromatique Shampoo and Conditioner keeps it healthy and ensures the color between visits. The styling gives this look its momentum and the product is the key. Kevin Murphy's Bedroom Texture Spray is perfect to give her the ruffled beach wave finish we're aiming for. She should feel comfortable when she curls up loose to get the right effect on the waves.
Black and red balayage
Red and black scream burning passion and we are passionate about this hair color the colorist Ashlee! She does a phenomenal job with red balayage hair color on her client here.
Dark brown and red balayage
Everyone who naturally has dark brown hair should pay attention to this. This is the ultimate crimson balayage look for straight hair. Stylist Allie created a spicy-fiery, fiery look, so soft and flattering!
Brown and red balayage
Crunch in a mane in these fall colors as wearing a scorched Sienna fade fits well any season. Brown to red balayage hair colors are perfect autumn tones.
Delicate Rose Gold Balayage
Can I feel Ginny Weasley in those ginger curls? Ask for a rich rose gold color swept down your locks. And you will find your own Harry in no time.
Red wine balayage on black base
Plum for fun! Colourist Ellie worked on this masterpiece by brushing abundant red color on long curls, resulting in a beautiful balayage.
Red balayage highlights on a light brown base
Good thing the balayage happened, because what other way to spice up a brunette than smooth scarlet stripes?
Cherry Red Balayage
A shot of sweetener on abundant red hair. This monochrome ombre works by creating a distinction between the two colors.
Black and red Balayage hair color
Muted red on black hair leaves a powerful feeling. Plum tones are so easily swept over the hair.
