6. Probably reading it for first time. I sometimes want to go back to this timeframe when during summer I've done nothing but just read Homestuck whole day, not knowing things ik about now.

OKAY SO HERE'S FUN BACKSTORY THAT HAPPENED THIS YEAR; I was waiting for a class on corridor when suddenly I hear someone talking about "something doing Karkat cosplay" AND I WAS SO TAKEN ABACK BY THIS FACT BECAUSE HOMESTUCK IN YEAR OF OUR LORD 2024???? I didn't had time to catch up with them and instead as any sane person about something which I'm totally am about Homestuck, I made ig story about hearing someone talking about Homestuck and Karkat specifically (and that I'm only one who can cosplay him jk). and it turned out that one of my mutals from school actually knows this person and I thought oh shit that's kinda embarrassing... but like nothing really happened for a while UNTIL WEEK LATER where I wait on same corridor for same class when I see a paper note on one of locker that strangely seem to reassemble Karkat drawing. I thought 'oh shit is that for me?' so I go up there and OH SHIT THAT WAS FOR ME; there was my name on it (although it's more important f my ig handle but yk) and there was infact Karkat drawn there. So I take this note and not only they drew Karkat and Nepeta BUT THEY ALSO MADE A TROLL SONA FOR ME WHICH WAS SO FUCKING WHOLESOME. so I contacted them later through ig and we talked for some time and bonded over our hatred for Vriska lol. anyway I actually met them for first time today (the day I'm typing it) and they are really coo, I showed them where the artist with Homestuck merch was :33

8. I READ IT FULL 2 TIMES!! (well second one was let's read Homestuck but still lol) but it took a while to read it for first time, I remember that for like 3 weeks of summer I were doing nothing but reading Homestuck.

Hello! Would you mind talking about your writing process? And how long it took you to finish your first draft? I was thinking about getting into writing, but it's daunting.

Hi Anon! Of course; I’d be more than happy to talk about it! Thank you for asking! >w</ 

 The time frame in-which I finished the first draft is a bit wonky and very chaotic. But, I’ll try to explain it to the best of my ability! Buckle up because this...it’s going to be a long post!

 Allotted time to finish the first draft:

 -I first started writing the first chapter around the middle of August of 2019, and finished it around September 5, 2019.

 -As for the second chapter, I don’t quite remember when I started, but I finished it on October 25, 2019.

 -After that, I got too busy with work and took a short hiatus from anything related to Träumerei until January 1st of 2020. My New Year’s Resolution was to write about 2000 words per day when I’d get home, and…it worked out for a grand total of five days. However, I did complete Chapters 3 & 4 by the end of January, along with starting the first half of Chapter 5.

 -I was sick for most of February, so I did not write anything around this time. As for March, I was trying to catch up with art so I also did not work on the book.

 -Around the end of April, I decided to pick up work on Chapter 5 again since I was homestuck! Chapter 6 took about a day to write, and I started to pick up momentum with the remaining chapters and finished the first draft on May 15, 2020.

 -The first draft is currently at 67,420 words or 177 MS Word pages. It roughly translates to 310 book pages, though I’m not too sure if that conversion takes into account double or single space.

 -Technically, it took around nine months to complete the first draft. However, without my very many hiatuses, the actual amount of time would equate to roughly 3 ½ months.

 -If anything, I would say the further you get into the story, the quicker it is to write. Though, I’m sure it varies! It’s been an extremely chaotic year for…everyone, really, so the way I’ve been working on this draft is very unorthodox. Considering my area is on stay at home orders until at least June, I have a lot of spare time to write. Under most circumstances it would have taken much, much longer.

 -I’ve also had these characters for about six years, so that could also be taken into account for the general amount of time I took to complete this draft. I have plans for another book, ‘Starfall’ [set in modern day New England and with no magical elements], so I’d imagine the process for that story will be completely different.

 Writing Process

 -I’ve already had the fortune of watching let’s plays and reading reviews/critiques on my stories over the years. Not just for stories, but art & backgrounds as well, though…that’s completely unrelated to this. A lot of the time, the reactions are completely different from what I’d been expecting/hoping, but I consider that a really good thing! It means there’s always room to improve and get better with each passing day. It’s all been incredibly helpful to me with seeing from the perspective of other people. What may work or make sense to me won’t to others because, well, my knowledge of the characters and future events will be known to absolute no one except me.

 -It was something that I had never considered beforehand, so now when I write, I’ll still focus on what I want, but I’ll fill in the gaps with information to bridge scenes together.

 -For example, at the start of the story I’m on “Point A.” My end goal is to reach “Point G” by the final chapter. “Point A” could be—“Main character finds a talking rabbit” and “Point G” could be—“Main character discovers that the rabbit wanted to steal their soul this whole time.”

 -Afterwards, I’ll start writing character bios. I can’t post anything here related to Träumerei or my other projects due to spoilers, so let’s focus on “The Wanderer & the Rabbit.”

-Next up is the synopsis. Perhaps something like, “Taro the Wanderer meets a talking rabbit and goes on all sorts of adventures! It’s a shame something sinister is lurking behind the rabbit’s quaint smile.”

 -I then work on chapter summaries which tend to be around three-fifteen lines. You can write whatever you want here! They can also be know as “Point A summary”, ‘Point B summary”, etc., etc.

 -After the quick chapter summaries, I devote about half an MS Word page to write a more in-depth description of each chapter or plot point.

 -The last step [for this first draft] would be to write out the chapters.

 -I’m not going to read this draft for at least a week, so that when I go through it I can look through it with an un-objective eye. This is pretty much the step I’m on, right now!

 -I’ll work on cover art and illustrations, but I’ll save that process for later on down the line.

It can get overwhelming at times, but you should go for it! As time goes on and you get further and further into your story, the puzzle pieces will start falling into place. There will definitely be times in-which you get stuck on a certain scene, or something doesn’t play out the way you intended, but the key is to keep writing!

Breaks are also an important part of the process. It’s equally important to step back from your story every now and then to assess how it’s coming along. Let’s see, also, the characters will sometimes act in a different way than you’ve intended, but that tends to be expected. As soon as you write the first word in your story, the character, settings, they begin to take life all on their own. You’re merely looking in, an observer who is recording their lives. You see the story unfold at the same time as those you are writing.

As you can see, today is not only the 11th anniversary of Homestuck but also the 1st anniversary of its Epilogues. Now, imagine one year ago, you were waiting almost 2.5 year for the Epilogues (three years if you don’t count Credits). You wanted to know the answers to many questions such as: Is Lord English defeated once and for all? What happened to that post-Retcon worthless c8nt who lost all of her character development? Is Terezi going to be okay? etc. Sure you got some supplementary stuff like the 1st act of Hiveswap (after like 5 years after its announcement, despite all of its development problems), Friendsim (that visual novel that detailed characters that will appear in later acts of Hiveswap), you read some fanfics like Cool And New Web Comic (personal opinion: very fucking good) and Vast Error (I didn’t read this one but I heard it was good and many people behind it are working with the WhatPumpkin team and on the other official Homestuck shit), there were some official snapchat photos and while those were very good, you knew that they will mean nothing when the Epilogues will drop in. And they finally does, on the Homestuck’s 10th anniversary no less. So you click on The Homestuck Epilogues, happy and excited as fuck and the first thing you see is… an introduction page ripped straight out of AO3.

You earn what can be basically described as a punch in the face where the metaphorical fist is filled with confusion. But it doesn’t end here. Then you notice something more disturbing in content warning and characters:

Rape? Abuse?? Existential Crisis?!? OC?!?! Polyamory?!?!?! GENDER TRANSITION?!??!?!?!?! BARACK! FUCKING!! OBAMA?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?

Like what in the actual fuck is happening?!!

Then you read the Prologue and you are like: Uhm… Okay. It’s not that bad at all, like, far from it. Maybe that AO3 page is just a joke? Everything will be alright right? RIGHT?!?

Then one week later Hussie (with help of some people) drops two nukes on fandom and it all goes to hell. No seriously, it’s like Hussie built Little Boy and Fat Man expies titled Meat and Candy, dropped them on fandom in which the centers of explosions were Dirk’s and Jane’s fandoms respectively and delivered some of the biggest Broken Base effect in Homestuck after like Act 6. Nothing was the same after that. Everybody were fighting each other over who was right, people didn’t even know what was canon anymore and even up to this date people are still misgendering Roxy for fucks sake (it’s not even that hard to remember it: she/her for the Alpha Roxy and her Candy counterpart and he/him for the Meat one; come on man)!

From what I’ve (mostly) seen on Tumblr, most of the Homestuck fans hates it to the bones. Only some individuals actually like them and I happened to be one of those people who likes the Epilogues.

Now, I don’t really care who likes the Epilogues and who doesn’t. Everyone has different opinions. But something tells me that the Epilogues (at least here on Tumblr) are overhated. Like, sometimes, the negativity towards the Epilogues is so big that it makes me feel like I was in Star Wars fandom. And when fandom starts to look like the Star Wars one, you know you are in deep shit.

But you might be thinking by now: Dude, where are going with all of this shit?! Well my dear… uhm… pickles? The point of all of this is that I want to share something with you. And that is the reason. The (main) reason why I (in worst case) have more tolerance towards The Homestuck Epilogues than most of the people (on Tumblr).

When I started writing this long as fuck text I thought that I would easily give more reasons, in other words, give like 3-4 points why I like the Epilogues. But then again it’s better said than done because most of them are connected to this fact:

THE. EPILOGUES. ARE. MOSTLY. NOT. CANON.

This is the reason why I like them, why I can tolerate them. The Epilogues are mostly happening in two new timelines, different from the Alpha one. It’s even stated (or at worst implied) by Jade in Homestuck^2’s 6th chapter that the Meat timeline (and also possibly the Candy one) is not the Alpha one:

The reason why the Epilogues are mostly not canon is that the characters from the Alpha timeline (Terezi, Vriska, Aradia, Sollux, Alt!Calliope etc.) make an appearance in one of the timelines (some of them in both).

Some people who hate the Epilogues stated that it RUINED some of the characters no matter if they liked them or not. That’s kind of… over-the-top because characters that are not from the Alpha timeline are clearly in some cases not the same ones that we know as I see it (at least in case of Neo-Condesce and Doc Strider) as a fuck you towards those fanfics that like to shove Ron the Death Eater and Character Derailment tropes down our throats because some fanfic creators didn’t like some of the characters from the original work.

In other words: Almost all of the characters from the Alpha timeline are the same characters as we know at the very end of Homestuck.

There are still lesser things that I find myself enjoying in the Epilogues:

-          The writing is on a very good level and when it’s pissing someone of it’s not from incompetence,

-          Post-Retcon Vriska actually gets some actual character development instead of ending up as a useless piece of shit that only insults everyone who achieved much more than she ever would (I mean it took (at least) almost 4 years for this to happen but still),

-          The fact that behind Neo-Condesce’s and Doc Strider’s turn to evil is some actual sense, like with the former one it was mind manipulations in her childhood (not to mention the literal mind control by Post-Scratch Meenah) and the latter one (in order to become ultimate) ending up absorbing some of the versions of himself that are basically a massive shitheads (like Bro, Hal, even Caliborn counts),

There are still other pros that either I can’t remember or they are too minor co count.

Does all of this mean that the Epilogues are flawless? PFFFFFF! Of course not. Nothing is perfect. There are some stuff that I don’t like.

The biggest one is that the Epilogues are sometimes overcrowded with so many words detailing every single thing that it actually becomes a slog to get through even one chapter (but then again, this is the reason why I don’t enjoy reading books). Sure, the original comic is like almost thrice as long as the fucking Lord of the Rings in case of the dialogue but it has pictures and animations to be more pleasant for the eyes. Which leads to another con: No. Fucking. Pictures. If I want to look for the details, then at least show me something else than words. Every fucking time I must look at dozens of words describing the most minuscule thing in the novel I’m like:

Also in terms of enjoyment I prefer the Meat Epilogue over the Candy one. When some people say that this book is a big, steaming pile of sadness and depression, at least the Meat part tells you from the start what kind of tone it’s going to have. The Candy part? Not so much. First it’s all happiness, (almost) everyone is happy, birds are happy, clouds are happy, nothing but happiness. And then you get punched in the gut, smashed into the ground and getting kicked over and over and over for so long that when the kicking finally stops it feels like 15 years passed by that time. And just to add up, the pacing in Meat is better than in Candy.

I’m going to piss you off even more but there are moments in the original Homestuck that are more cringe/rage inducing than some of the most painful ones from the Epilogues, particularly the intermissions in Act 6 Act 6 (DON’T GET ME STARTED ON WHAT HAPPENED TO BOTH SERKETS I SWEAR TO FUCKING GOD).

Jokes asides, we had a wild ride since the last 413. The Epilogues (despite what they are) gave us the answers to the biggest questions that Homestuck left for us, we got Pesterquest, the sequel to Friendsim that concluded the history of the MSPAReader (until another sequel -_-) and, of course, we got the official sequel to Homestuck, over 10.5 years later from the original comic’s debut. So, fuck ton of stuff throughout a year for me.

As for the Epilogues, look, I can, in some way, understand that some of you want to stay at least 10 km away from them but it has been a year (well technically almost a year) since they were published on the Homestuck’s official website. It might be a good time to read them once more. Without all of that hype they have built for 2.5 years after the credits. From the different perspective. Maybe even (and I dare to say it) right after yet another re-reading of Homestuck. Either way, remember that in most cases you can give someone or something another chance.

Act 4 Overview

So I have come to the end of Act 4. Starting from Session 53 to Session 82. It took me 30 reads to get through this entire thing, and since we still haven’t reached post 2000 it is going to take even longer next time.

Overall, wow did we get to know more about the lore. Rose and Dave are in the Medium on their own planets, and we finally get hints and secrets about what the adults are doing/what happened.

The Trolls got to show off their beautiful faces, and yeah they are now endearing to me than just strictly trash. I now get why people like the Trolls, it just takes a while to get use to them. Of course, we only met 6 of them, so the other six might just be assholes, who knows. But I will give them a chance now.

So there were many, many reveals over the course of Act 4, but 4 of them really strike out in my mind.

1st: The Exiles

The fact that they are actual game pieces that got kicked off of the board definitely surprised me. I mean I figured they weren’t human, but I didn’t expect that. Each with their own lives/past as they try to thrive on the new planet. The fact that Mayor led a revolt to save his farm just kills me. He is such a sweet guy.

Of course when I saw the Midnight Crew in The Kid’s Server I thought there was something screwy afoot. Like multideminsional brainwash time deal. But nope! The Crew was the Exiles for the Trolls! And the people we saw was their previous life before being exiled. What a twist!

But now here I am thinking, there are 4 exiles in John’s Session, and 5 in the Trolls. So if it is 1 Exile per Player, that means there are still 7 more to find in the Trolls session, if they still matter.

2nd: Future Dave.

So I get that Time Travel is a big thing with the Trolls and Chat logs. Hussie must have had a hard time trying to come up with all of that to be honest. But seeing a world where Dave and Rose are just by themselves for almost a year, that just tears me up. It shows how deadly and serious this game is, they could actually die. (hell Hussie showed Dave’s dead body on screen to after this). But seeing him going back in time to save his friend and help them all, it is just so uplifting.

3rd: The Parents

So I had a feeling that the adults knew more than they let on, but this is something else. John making their existence plus his friends and his own really throws you in for a loop. They were probably individually researching the meteors that have lead them to this moment, whether by science, investigation, exploration, or whatever the fuck Bro does. I also wish we would get more interactions between the kids and their guardians, but that might happen later. There is still more to come, but this was a good set up for eventual answers

4th: Jack Noir

Listen, I had this guy pegged as a salty 2-bit side villain before meeting with the queen. And honestly? He’s great as that! A salty, jaded person who you know is a dick and an ass, but will 100% be ruthless with paperwork when needed. I thought Hussie was going to keep him in that role for a while, but what a twist when he rose to power! Now he is in control and things get bad. And I know that the imagery had set the mood for how much of a “big bad” he was, but now I have a better explanation for why I fear this guy.

We know now that Spade Slick was the Exile for the Troll’s Session, and Homestuck got it’s first introduction to him through that Intermission. I’m not sure if the intermission has a bigger part to play by pulling characters later on into here, but it definitely gives us an idea of who Slick was. He is ruthless, cunning, violent, hell we saw him bash someone’s head in with a pipe! And though I like him, I know well enough he is not a man to mess around with.

So since Slick is a copy of Noir, while not exact, I know that the same cunning, ambition, and ruthlessness still remains. And he is in control. Oh man, what a great villain!

There are probably other moments of Act 4 that I could touch up on, like the kids reactions to the game, the overall planet feeling, etc etc, but there was just so much to remember! I started Act 4 in November, that was 3 months ago!

But overall, Act 4 is like the the 3rd quest people do. You now know enough of the basics to get to the really good stuff, but there is still so much more to learn for the overarching story line

Weeb Story #2

Time for another story. Gather around. 

Remember the weeb M I talked about in my previous story? We’re gonna discuss her again, but more in depth. First off, she was a homestuck weeb, and liked ‘smexy yaoi’. (Spoiler, she’s still a major edge lord.) Anyway, she never really talked to me, but of course was ticked off about my art, and hated me alongside T. (Read my first weeb story to better understand.) Of course, she only drew this cringy I-try-too-hard-to-make-my-style-look-unique tumblr/anime lemon way. Literally, minimum effort, no attention to anatomy or anything.

So, first encounter was after her, T, and another girl bullied me to give up my makeup master position in drama. Now, in case you can’t tell, I love deer. I know how to make deer/fawn make up VERY well okay? In the play we were doing, we had a Stag character. Despite them pushing me out of the lead position, my teacher still wanted me to do a lot of the make up anyway. I may not have liked her, but I’m a professional person, and would have done her make up anyway, just like anyone else’s. However, she would run into the makeup room early, just to do her own makeup. (Badly, literally had people tell me they didn’t know what she was after the show.) During the dress rehearsal, I messaged my teacher to let him know what was happened, and requested that he please speak to her so I could do her make up. (I would like to mention, she’s his favorite, despite how he said he didn’t pick them.) He told me to leave it alone and that she looked fine. But god forbid she say we did something. We’d get this giant lecture of ‘Be professional! We are a family!!’ 

Apparently not asswipe. 

Whatever though. I figured that if she wanted to go out with shit makeup, she could. Whatever. Also during this, T was told she was NOT to help with makeup. Guess who ‘helped’ and fucked up everything? I had the actors and actresses coming to me and asking to fix their makeup. (This play included a lot of animal makeup.) Both of them were just DETERMINED to make sure I didn’t get to do my job properly. 

That was the first incident. 

Now, one day, the Art 4 class had an assignment where you draw 2 random words out of a bucket, and that was your band name. You then created a CD cover and a list of songs. (Keep in mind, I was in 2 independent art studies at this time, and a senior. Art 4 is usually seniors. Due to me being in independent studies, I wasn’t doing this assignment.) Being a student known through the school for being a good kid, I was always allowed to go to the art room. I’d collect my work and head down, since the teachers knew I would complete the work. So, I was down there, chilling. It was about the half way point of Art 4′s assignment, and a lot of the students were still working on their cover art. M turned hers in. Mama B (My art teacher) is smart. She’s been doing this job a while and knows a lie when she sees one. The thing about M was that she always wanted to get done with her assignment ASAP so she could get on her Ipad and look at manga’s, merch, and watch anime, or read Homestuck stuff and scroll through Tumblr. Miss B was sitting at the tables, across from M, when M slid her CD case over with the art and stuff done, telling Miss B she was finished. Class ended and me and my friend were hanging out in the art room since it was break. Miss B called us over and was like, “She didn’t draw this, did she?” 

We looked at the cover and HELL NO she hadn’t drawn that. We could tell, and so could Mama B. (Miss B and Mama B are the same person Btw, for clarity) She just kinda hummed and nodded. “Thought so.” 

Next day in that class, Miss B had a talk with the whole class, explaining what copyright was and how you could be arrested/charged with it, how you can’t do it in college (obviously), and that it wasn’t creative and all that. M just kept rolling her eyes and huffing, glaring at Mama B. Miss B sat down by M after than and gave her CD back and very privately and calmly explained she wasn’t accepting it and asked her to come up with something else. She even encouraged her as well to try and motivate her, offering to help her brainstorm. 

M refused the help, getting all pissy and standoffish. Miss B headed back to her desk and worked on grades and all that while M bitched about how she was a bitch, how she was always grouchy and it was stupid she couldn’t express herself, blah,blah,blah. When did tracing become expressing yourself??? Anyway, like I had mentioned, I was in 2 Independent Studies, as a senior, while everyone else was only in Art 4. I took Art 4 my Junior year and had a lot of senior friends, which I really missed since they had graduated. 2 of them had stopped by to say hi about 15 minutes later. They came over and sat with me and my 2 friends, asking use how we were doing, what we were working on, all that. I was happy to see them and was happily talking to them, not working on anything. (My independent studies basically was me working on college portfolio pieces, refining my style, and drawing whatever I wanted. I had finished my drawing that day, so I didn’t have anything else to work on.) As we’re all talking, Miss b notices that some of the Art 4 kids are slacking off, she she reminds them to get to work and work on finishing their pieces. 

Shit you not, I haven’t said 2 words to this weeb and she just ‘muttered’ (AKA, she wanted me to hear it. Jokes on her, I didn’t hear it, but know who did? Miss B.)

M: Well, if they don’t have to work, I’m not going to either.

Miss B has the patience of a saint, but when you say dumb shit like that after tracing and trying to deny it, she’s gonna snap. Mama B shot back to her, (not so privately this time.) 

“They’re not even in this class, they’re in an independent study. They’re done with their work while you haven’t even started after 2 weeks in.” 

M kinda just sat there like, “Well shit.” But still rolled her eyes and shut up. Still didn’t get started though, just sat there moping on her Ipad and getting on Tumblr. 

And after that, all my chill and patience was gone. So, that summer rolled around and my memory is foggy, but I believe she threw shade or something at me on Facebook. I was also still irked she would trace art (still, after graduating), and had sad such rude things to me and Miss B. I can stand her saying things about me, but given that Miss B was such a nice person, I couldn’t stand that. She had also done something to my friend that was absolute bullshit, which I won’t get into. They’ll post it if they want. So, she drew these 2 sketches (absolute monstrosities with no anatomy.) Now, in case you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m petty as fuck and have no problem reminding someone to sit down. One of her drawings was a person (???) sitting on a couch, one arm behind the back of the couch, and the other was a face (??? Lemon with eyes?) trying to be edgy with a phrase relating to madness or something. 

Well, what a nice pose you got there. I see you like copying and tracing art. I’m sure you wouldn’t mind if I ‘heavily referenced’ your sketches there. I mean, if we’re going on their logic, we’re not copying if we change a few things. Just referencing. 

So, I drew someone sitting on a couch, and Alice from Alice in Wonderlands face, a clock around her head with the phrase, “We’re all mad here.” Added the same caption she did. “Sketches <3 <3 <3″ 

Shockingly, she was pissy about it, and started to bitch on Facebook, making a bunch of posts. 

“Wow, if you’re gonna copy my art at least give me credit or something.”

“lol funny how you’re trying to one up me.” 

Wow, I thought you didn’t mind tracing and copying???? You said you were a real artist, and you did that, why am I suddenly the bad person???? Omggggg, it’s like it’s not fun when someone copies your stuff, changes a few things, and says it’s theirs. Wowie. Doesn’t feel good does it? Hypocritical much? (Disclaimer: This is the only time I’ve done that, I hate the idea of copying and tracing someones work. Bases too. You’re not an artist, you’re lazy.)

My art friends (including the senior ones) had been told what happened via me, and was loving it. One of the senior friends that had visited posted, 

“If someone is better than you, maybe you should learn from them rather than get mad?” (All these are separate posts btw, Major Shade being thrown, M’s post to that was, ‘Lol. K.” ) 

My friend, we’re gonna call her C, has ZERO CHILL. You think I’m bad? C is 10x more concentrated with sass than me. C wasn’t having this considering she was also pissed at her for hurting our other friend and being a tracer. She made a status that said:

“Sometimes, people are better than you, and in worse case scenarios, everyone is better than you. Get over it”

I had a bunch of other friends also getting behind me and defending me, since they knew what she had done in the past. (Again, for more context, read my 1st weeb story) 

Long story short, M realized she had fucked up and no one was on her side, and unfriended me. 

Nice. 

Final thoughts: Was it kinda childish? Yeah, kinda. But I figured if she wanted to act like a child, I should get down on her level to try and make her understand. Still, no regrets.

Your interpretation of lance and keith is interesting, but the reason I don't really buy it is that the factual evidence your are basing it upon is not that reliable (it's obvious for the maze one, the others are more ambiguous). I mean it in a totally non-offensive way, but maybe instead of focusing on the characters and their actions as if they were real people, it would be interesting to take a step back, and rather think about the choices made by the writers and animators of the series? 1/

Of course as I said this is just a pov, I really enjoy reading your scene and character analyses! But if you consider the creators, well, maybe in that first scene Keith didn't punch Lance because, 1st what would he have done about Shiro, & 2nd, because it would have taken more screentime to resolve the situation?(+maybe other reasons?)This applies to other situations as well, such as in s2e1, with the fire(it bring meaning to the scene?) or their body language on the poster(a q° of balance?)2/2

Well Keith could have kicked him I guess, his legs are totally free, told him to step back.. lot’s of stuff really. The point was that it’s kinda out of character for Keith to trust these 3 so fast considering he knows nothing about either of them. 

And yeah, you can say the writers just needed to get them all together real fast and didn’t care how out of character they made this, but I’d like to think they know what they are doing and that there are reasons behinds stuff. Not behind everything ofcourse, but most things.

Like, a way better introduction would be having Keith’s “Leeroy Jenkinsplan” fail somehow, and Lance, Hunk and Pidge coming to his rescue and in that way showing him they are trustworthy and on his side. And then it wouldn’t seem so odd he lets them come with him. That dun have to take any more screen time, just make one of em knock a doctor on the head while they got a hold on Keith or somethin... Because like think about it, they really didn’t do anything but being in the way and putting Keith and Shiro in risk during that escape. And yeah, I’d like a better explanation than “Destiny”, cause Keith should have been “good bye suckers” once he’d gotten Shiro on that hovercraft, by all logic. He really didn’t need 3 people to carry Shiro.. Should have left all that non essential weight exactly where he found it.

And the fire was obviously there because they wanted to create an intimate atmosphere, like it’s a touching meaningful moment and it just wouldn’t look the same if it happened in the lion’s cockpit. I am well aware of this. I think I also mentioned that in my post. But it’s still fun to fill in the gaps they leave for us. Like this is where you get your canon compliant fan fics and arts.. (And Keith and Shiro have alot of those “ofscreen potentially really meaningful scenes”..)

And you do say the fire brings meaning to a scene.. But I guess you just disagree about the meaning I suggested? (is this about shipping?)

I dunno, I look at everything from a writers point of view first, and I feel like I usually know what stuff are like “cartoon logic” with nothing behind it (usually, because all those years of being a homestuck are making me overthink absolutely everything haha), you don’t see me complaining and making theories about how it doesn’t makes sense Aliens speak english, and how Kerberos doesn’t look like that, and how Slav is full of BS because that is not how parallel realities work (actually maybe I will rant about this one sometime, this and Kaltenecker, cuz ALIENS DUN JUST TAKE COWS, THEY DO CATTLE MUTILATIONS DAMMIT) or maybe even about how Shiro doesn’t recognize Pidge right away even when seeing a picture of her and Matt... There’s LOTS of stuff that dun make sense that I dun dig into too much..

I’d still point these stuff out, because I just can’t help but notice patterns, details and inconsistencies. And sometimes they will have something behind them, and sometimes not. 

And if the writers didn’t put much thought into a certain something, fans will usually do the work for them, and come up with amazing creative stories and explain it in their own ways. Like that’s one of the fun parts about fandom.

(like lets say the “lion slippers”, they were obviously there to sell a product or as a joke I dunno, but you can like make so many stories about why all the paladins get slippers and bathing suits and other items in their color I guess, like maybe one of the original paladins was like a really sweet person and made like welcome packages for everyone or something... Hand sewed the slippers for everyone as a gift.. and then no one wore them.. Maybe even it was Zarkon’s idea or doing... Maybe that's why he had a fight with Alfor.. Or maybe Alfor made them and Zarkon just refused to wear them and that’s why they had a fight. lot’s of fun stories you can come up with)

And unless you’re like actually one of the Voltron writers on anon just going "But we had to make Keith out of character!!! Because If you’re a good writer, you will think about these characters as real people, you will think about what they feel, what they think, why they do the things they do, and you will write accordingly, considering all the production limitations. Because that’s what makes characters feel real. And I think the Voltron team did an amazing job with that! I really wouldn't be spending time analyzing scenes and relationships if Voltron didn’t prove to me there’s hidden depths to things(not to everything, but to most things) and the characters are really really well developed and thought through. (and fans do it with shows that have like zero depth behind anything all the time even, cuz it’s fun and people want depth.)

Like it’s so nicely done even the silly stuff kinda you know, dun seem out of character...

Like lets say with that random fire, it really wouldn’t be odd if Keith like suggested “Well, if we make a fire maybe they’ll see it and find us” and Shiro just shrugged and said “worth's a try”. Because they already did something just as stupid with the pyramid when trying to form Voltron. 

Like these character are silly and do silly random stuff like real people do, and are aware of the absurdity of the situations they are in..

And I’m not sure what you mean exactly about the body language..

Actually, you’re being very vague and not making any concrete points on what exactly you’re not agreeing with me about, but if you really wanna argue with me about somethin then you’re welcome to like reblog that post with all your points and receipts. 

I don’t get offended when people disagree with me, and I’m glad if someone points out something I missed or forgot. (as long as it’s not one of those my headcanon is better than your headcanon arguments, cuz I dun have alot of patience for that, headcanons and canon theories are two different things, so these kind of arguments are pointless)

And like no one has to agree with my interpretations (sometimes i dun even agree with them haha) but like if you don’t and you wanna debate or argue then bring it on! I love arguing! But you really gotta be less vague than that..
