Like, Genshin is THE toxic ex of gachas. I feel so sorry for those who had it as their first Gacha/current one and only one because of how they are. Like, no Gacha games (that I play) are this bad with rewards, literally they give out A LOT of rewards just for their half anniversary. Hoyo's Genshin team is just money hungry and expect the fanbase to stay loyal and just now they're giving a free 5 star because it finally has competition and their player base is declining. I'm so glad I played for less than a month (the story and gameplay wasn't fun for me) because I was able to see other Gacha games I enjoyed like wuwa (literally what I wanted from Genshin) and Nikke (I went for the csm collab but their story and music is actually good), heck, even crk (though I stopped after 2 years) because they're what normal gachas are. Gachas aren't meant to give low rewards like genshin, they usually reward players for playing with a good amount, even surpass the normal amount because their dev team cares.

im not much of a gacha player/enjoyer (my first actual gachas i enjoyed were 7k before it ended and fgo and i mainly started bc i love fate universe) but from the few i tried out to the ones i actively play (fgo, hsr, etcetc) gnshn rlly is unrewarding, always has been

every year the subject of their anniversary and how unrewarding and sucky it is (useless gadgets you use maybe once and some pets) comes up, its lit nothing new. i dont know if some remember but when we had this topic 2 yrs ago (i think??) i lit suggested they could gift a free standard 5star for anni. now 4 yrs later, just when player base is shrinking, they offer a super belated selector of standard characters that 90% of the players already own since its BEEN 4+ YRS and are easily bested now by the *checks character archive*

37 other 5stars that most players own some at least now (nari and dehya i can understand that some ppl are missing them since they were added much later) its like they hand them over only bc theyre of no use compared to the rest of the roster anymore

im not complaining abt a free 5star selector, i jsut think ppl are blinded so easily by gnshn dangling it in front of them to lure them back/keep them after being so unrewarding to their player base for years compared to other gachas. i also thjink its just silly bc they waited so long with that that its not of use for the entire player base anymore but only for new players or ppl still missing the unit they really love but never managed to get. it doesnt feel much of an anni reward, it feels like bait after all these years idk man

ZZZ appreciation post

I started playing Zenless Zone Zero when version 1.1 released and now I’m finally caught up with the main story.

I was playing it on and off, but I really started investing some time during version 1.4 when they “re-released” the game.

I loved some of the changes they made in the gameplay modes, even though I didn’t mind the OG TV mode as much as some others did. But I would have to say that I do prefer the visualization of the Hollow environment better.

But aside from that, I absolutely loved the last two chapters! It took me a while to fully immerse myself in the story and the world, but when I did, it was really worth it. Chapter 4 and 5 were incredible and I am looking forward to how they progress the story in the future. Special mention goes to “Undercover R&B” — such a great special episode! (I may be biased because I love JaneSeth haha)

Oh, and some other things that I am enjoying immensely are the Trust Events and the Quality Time events.

I just love the idea of hanging out, spending time and getting to know your favorite characters!

They seemlessly tie in with the Agent stories and the main story commissions as well, which makes them so enjoyable to play. And although they really go for the date vibe, it doesn’t feel forced at all, and the little dates are so much fun!

The fact that you can go play arcade games with them during the Quality Time event is such a nice touch!

Currently I am doing Harumasa’s trust events and quality time events because he’s my favorite character overall as of now… and I NEED THAT LIVE WALLPAPER. 😆

Also, speaking of Harumasa, I feel like Chapter 4 and 5 had such great characters! And I love the group dynamic of both the Sons of Calydon and HSO Section 6! Great stuff. ✨

So, yeah. I just wanted to make this quick appreciation post. I have been enjoying ZZZ so much that Genshin and HSR have taken a backseat now.

In conclusion, I think this game is a bit of a slow burn and you need to give it some time to grow on you. So, to new players, I’d say: take your time, don’t rush, and let the game and the world draw you in.

LET'S TALK HSR PENACONY 2.1 (or rather, have my impressions and thoughts on the main quest and some other stuff)

First of all, I went out of it with so many thoughts and emotions. This is not gonna be spoiler free (duh).

ACHERON IS SO FUN TO PLAY. Like, really really fun. Finally Simulated Universe is not an annoying pain anymore, and much quicker too. Thanks to a good friend of mine her relics aren't too bad either. She's already so fun to play with Black Swan, can't wait for a Kafka rerun now 💀

Aa for the story now: I FUCKING KNEW MIKHAIL WAS THE WATCHMAKER. I KNEW IT. Now to wait for them to confirm that Misha is connected to him, either as a ghost of his past self or a child or some sort. It's the only way.

It's also really refreshing to see that HSR is giving 4star characters significant roles in the story. First it was Tingyun, now it's Gallagher (and maybe Misha? I'll die on this hill).

Loved the pacing. Story was quite long and lots of gameplay but didn't feel overwhelming at all, probably because we didn't just stick to the MC the whole time. The characters split up and we didn't just follow the express crew but also Aventurine, I really loved that. It felt so dynamic and immersive.

WELT AND ACHERON INTERACTION. BRO. The way I gasped the whole time. We still don't have a canon confirmation of how Raiden Mei and Acheron or just generally HI3rd and HSR are connected but it's sp clear that Acheron is by far the closest connection yet. So sp excited to find out more about this. Raiden Mei, I'll love you in every universe.

Aventurine and Ratio are also very interesting to me. What does Ratio gain by involving himself in all of this? What does he get out of it? Anyway, their little journey through the mansion was nice. GIGANTIC RATIO. The kinda stuff my dreams are made of tbh.

Generally the whole Aventurine story got me right from the beginning. He's generally one of the most interesting characters to me (although this game has plenty of them). I gotta admit of course I was suspicious of him (as one should be of all Penacony characters) but I liked him nevertheless. This patch supported my feelings, my GOD HE xkdjjdjdjd. The way I cried. Since I played the story so late ofc I saw some spoilers/screenshots of his backstory but I never expected it to hit me this hard. Just wow. His ending, too. It's so bitter. Kinda hope we get to see him again, since he'a mot really dead, right? Just in some limbo.

His boss fight was really something. Not a lot of different patterns, but I still had to try a bunch of different teams, since you're kinda fucked even with just a single single target character in your party. Had to unbench Clara, and I gotta say, she came through for me. I might not have used the most meta team, but it worked soooo...

And just as I was glad I had managed the fight they hit you with that big cut scene, woah. AND THEN WITH THE FIREFLY SCENE? AND SUNDAY????

First of all, apparently it was common knowledge among the community since last patch that Sam was Firefly. Yeah, I gwt it bc of the leaks and stuff. But I'm just so confused as to HOW. Like HOW and WHY and just generally HUH. I can't wait for them to explain this connection (if you're reading this and you wanna spoil me with non-confirmed stuff then leave it, please, I might as well wait another 3 weeks).

And then Gallagher and Sunday... Just as I was admiring Sunday's beauty because he might legit just be one of the most gorgeous male character designs... THEY KILL HIM. When I tell ypu I was SHOOK. Mouth agape and all. Didn't know what to do. What a cliffhanger.

Now I don't have a real theory as to what I think will happen. If I remember correctly they said the main story will stretch until 2.3, right? I really wonder what else will happen, the story already seemed so huge this patch and I really wonder how it'll conclude. There's still so many questions and stories. Might add on to this post later when I have more thoughts.

Also Aventurine's banner just dropped but as of writing this I haven't pulled yet. Might add a little post later about it.

Just saw some updates on HSR with Castorice and like... they only way they can make this game playable again is to buff the older chars to be as close to be as strong as the new units or like it's over. Like accountwide buff rather than in team buff is insane. The reason why ZZZ works well and people like it a lot right now is because, yes, the limited banner chars are strong (and even broken like Miyabi) but you can still clear some crazy endgame shit with just the free A-ranks, too (and some of them did it solo!) People don't feel forced to pull a limited but people do it because they WANT to. Between good story, good characters, and being more generous with rewards - people are just enjoying the game and are likely to spend a little money since they are enjoying the game. Not to mention the chars they get will still be useful and can be fun in different team comps. HSR said they'd fix powercreep issue then release insanely broken chars that kills the buffed chars anyways like??? Bruh??? The team comps are still so strict if you want to clear anything and it HAS to be premium support or you're fucked. Before around mid Penacony and I took a long break, I could still clear shit with f2p chars team comps given that I spent time to build them but now even my premiums are useless except like 2-3 but they also have no compatible premium team comps so they're fucked anyways.

Like I know that ZZZ has an advantage since it is a full action game which means gameplay is a huge selling point as long as raw damage matches the premium chars range (like Evelyn is not as broken as Miyabi for example, but she is still strong as fuck if you know how to play her) while HSR is turn based which has huge limitations but they way they are trying to 'fix' it has been so lazy and predatory rather than address the actual issues. It's kind of delusional for the company to think that they can still get away with shit like that when it's now widely talked about and the reason why people love ZZZ is because it DOESN'T have shit like this. And the moment it does, it will lose players. No amount of sunk-cost fallacy is going to save them.

Assigning Tokyo Debunker Characters Into Honkai Star Rail Paths

There are some inaccuracies. I don't inspect each ghouls on microscopic level, so I apologize in advanced if you find some characters not fit into the path you think they'd have. I'd love to hear your thoughts on which path your fave will follow (✿◡‿◡)

There are two tier list: one for the path they follow and their path in the gameplay. Since some HSR characters' gameplay paths a lot of time don't match the one they actually follow in the story.

I am not a meta slave! My knowledge on that is probably like... around 70% give or take (It's still difficult for me to full star pure fiction without a team full of limited 5stars pls)

Pls feel free to share your thoughts on this. I'd love to hear them.

Paths are congregations of Imaginary energy, born as manifestations of universal philosophical concepts. Those who believe in and practice the concepts behind a certain path become Pathstriders, and the path that they happen to follow will change in accordance with their own philosophies and opinions. In some special cases, entities that manage to completely intertwine themselves with a path and explore its philosophical concepts to their entirety will become an Aeon.

In gameplay, paths are utilized as a class system for characters in the game, detailing which gameplay style their kit is designed for.

The ghouls and their path (philosophical concept)

1. ABUNDANCE

[ Those who follow the "Abundance" Path admire selflessness, altruism, and healing behavior. ]

I actually contemplated on putting Subaru in Harmony... I legit have nothing to back this up lol. He just give the vibe. Even though Yaoshi (the Aeon of Abundance) is seen as a savior by making creatures immortal, their act also bring chaos to the universe as abundance doesn't judge who should receive their blessing and who shouldn't. They will heal monsters in the brink of death because that's who they are. And the creatures they brought back to life will turn into a full-on mindless and chaotic creatures.

2. DESTRUCTION

[ Those who follow the "Destruction" Path admire recklessness, anger, and destructive behavior. ]

Taiga is pretty much self-explanatory. Alan is somewhat in the middle between destruction and preservation but I lean more to the first option.

I almost put Towa in harmony tier (yes) but the "supportive" part can only be done if there's Haru so... yeah. Lyca might be destruction, might be hunt, especially since he's so determined to find Neros and he's also quite ruthless sometimes...

3. ERUDITION

[Those who follow the "Erudition" Path admire thinking, logic, and strategic behavior]

I think the path description alone is enough to shed light on them. Although I was actually putting Hyde on another tier at first... (I forgot which one).

4. HARMONY

[Those who follow the "Harmony" Path admire understanding, support, and cooperative behavior.]

The description just screams ZENJI. Also, Haru could also be put in Preservation tier.

5. NIHILITY

[Those who follow the "Nihility" Path admire laziness, exhaustion, and meaningless behavior.]

The "I've seen enough" "I don't give a f" "leave me alone" "idfk im lazy"

6. PRESERVATION

[Those who follow the "Preservation" Path admire patience, sacrifice, and defensive behavior.]

Self-explanatory.

7. The Hunt

[Those who follow the "Hunt" Path admire determination, ruthlessness, and tenacious behavior.]

OFC I'M GOING TO PUT ROMEO & LEO THERE. The only ones who can stand and also RESPECT each other on that level. Sho was a bit on grey area... so I put him last. Too confused.

Their paths in the gameplay

This one is based on their major role in the main story (with the current interpretation i have as of now ofc lol). This is because some characters' path/ideology in HSR doesn't match their gameplay either.

1. ABUNDANCE

[Heals allies and restores HP to the team.]

Ofc I'm gonna put two doctors in there.

2. DESTRUCTION

[Deals outstanding amounts of damage and possesses great survivability. Suitable for various combat scenarios]

LISTEN,,, JIRO & YURI'S KIT WOULD SYNERGIZE SO WELL AS A TEAM. Yuri is like the BIS (best in slot) healer for Jiro that players would kinda have no choice but to get both.

Also destruction chars are often centered on lowering their HP bar to deal big pp damage. Jiro and Alan are a tank-type characters in this.

Towa destroying enemies with bubbles... but he can also zapped the enemies with thunder... Imagine it. With his silly outfit too.

Taiga is... similar to Aventurine's kit, he has this XX% change to add something during battle. It could be from technique or with how much he drained the party's HP (yeah). A combination of Jingliu and Aventurine. A bit of a tank but not as much as Jiro and Alan. Having a healer isn't preferable as the more low is HP is the bigger the damage he'd deal.

You gamble to get him, and then you gamble again when playing him. That's Taiga. But HE WINS A LOT so even if you don't manage to get the best buff, he'll still do great.

Lyca is a stack-type character, and he has a few states as well. Kinda like Firefly, he can turn to werewolf. He ignores weakness type too.

Alan is similar to Blade/Mydei in kit. With one of his best team IRONICALLY being Dante *cough*. Kinda like how Blade got upgraded after Jade's existence yk.

Tohma is similar to Yunli. A tank that's centered on few types of follow-up attack. Has good synergy with Jin (and Luca at some point)

3. ERUDITION

[Deals remarkable amounts of multi-target damage. The main damage dealer against groups of enemies]

Jin is the type who can deal with enemies by himself with so little turns wasted. A must-have if you want to full star in Pure-Fiction. He's probably aThe Herta-expy lol

Imagine The Herta but instead of doing a follow-up attack he'll get extra turn instead (idk how to explain it but it's that one Seele kit) so you can choose which enemy will receive the most damage. He does well without his BiS lightcone but if you GET SOME MONEY OUT and get it, he'll power creep so many DPS. This isn't even biased.

Haku... he just want to deal with enemies as efficient as possible. A sub-dps type of erudition character but can be main damage dealer if you know how to do it. He's versatile in many teams and can also buff the party.

4. HARMONY

[Applies buffs to allies to improve the team's combat capacities]

Subaru harmony kit would involve around cleansing, ER, and CRATE increase. Mainly for one chosen character but with his LC he can regenerate energy for the whole party during change of turn/ult

(Maybe I should make the damage dealer of Hotarubi a character that relies on ult to deal big numbers...)

Also since Subaru kept insisting that Haku is the reliable one and Subaru is more of a supporting role... wwww.

I can imagine Subaru's ult wearing a mask or something like that.

Zenji... two nights ago, when I wrote this thread the first time, I thought "hold on Zenji can be remembrance" so YEAH I missed that chance ahaha but anyways, I think Zenji can still be a remembrance/harmony type chara, with his doll doing most of the damage as his memosprite.

I like to think Zenji is similar to Lingsha in a way. To make his doll attack, the team has to receive damage first WHICH IS GONNA MAKE HIM FIT SO WELL WITH IN JIRO'S TEAM!! Zenji is going to be like Moze. He can disappear so the one being present the most is the doll.

He's a harmony + remembrance that also deals some damage type of character. But to get his doll to do more damage he has to ult (that's where Subaru come along). His skill will buff one chara and they will have this floating paper circling around them JUST IMAGINE HIS BATTLE VOICELINES

Cornelius can also be remembrance. He can get his kitties to do the attack for him lol. I think Cornelius would be the character that can choose one chara to attack immediately (like Bronya, Sunday, Sparkle). But his base SPD is like really low, so he got power-creeped fast

5. NIHILITY

[Applies debuffs to enemies to reduce their combat capacities]

I didnt think much when putting Ed in there tbh. He reminds me of Kafka so he's probably going to be DoT character. Not to mention people are starting to *cough* leave DoT behind *cough* (DONT ATTACK ME)

But he is a powerful DoT unit tho. The kind that makes the devs think twice to do a new DoT unit that can power-creep him. "Ed is still doing good in the game so let's not get him behind so soon" Although his DoT is rather slow, he deals a lot of ult dmg tht can also slow down enemies

I hate to say it, but Hyde would do well with Romeo. He's shitty with Sho but works well with Romeo. I HAVEN'T EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT ROMEO'S KIT YET FFS! I think it's rather personal, but if I were the enemies and I have to face Hyde, I'll just walk out of the battle.

Hyde would be similar to Fugue I think. He helps students do well in missions, I don't see why his kit wouldn't revolve around shield breaking or adding new weakness so the students can do their job easier. Would it be funny if I give Moby the same kit as Jiaoqiu? The cook.

6. PRESERVATION

[Possesses powerful defensive abilities to protect allies in various ways]

Luca is definitely a shielder. The ones that add shield bar to the team like most preservation unit in hsr except Fuxuan. He does follow-up atk after he reach a certain number of stacks.

RUI, HOWEVER, he can do a lot tbh. I could put him in Nihility, I can put him in Abundance. I'll just break them all down here.

Rui preservation is the Fuxuan type. He'll take most of the damage in the entire team and when he reaches a certain percentage of HP he's going to release a powerful FuA immediately. Rui as a mix of healer and debuffer sounds so good he'd complete the Obscuary team so well.

Rui abundance being lifesteal-type of healer (which we don't have yet). Instead of instantly heal the party he give the enemies marks, and the more these marked enemies get hit, the more they regenerate HP.

"Wouldn't that mean the team has to be fast?"

Rui as debuffer tho? Those marks also make them move slower. If you add Ed with him he's going to be one of the best healers out there.

I CAN'T JUST NOT PUT THE FUTURE BEST LAWYER OF JPN HERE IF HE'S NOT GOING TO DEFEND YOU COME ON

He's also a shielder. But he can only give the best shield to one particular unit and make them taunt(?)

Basically enemies would be drawn to attack his chosen shielded unit. And the more they got attacked, the more dmg Ritsu will deal when he ult. It almost blurs the line on who is using who, and that's just kind of poetic to me. A relationship between a paralegal and his client.

"You will receive my protection, but in return so many of our opponent will want to point their knife at you. And the more they do, the more evidence we're going to get to win in the court (or battle, in this case)." - Ritsu. Probably.

I'm biased so I will make him unkillable. If the enemy is too strong, he's going to be the last man standing. He's going to attack with less DMG tho since he needs to give his shield to others in order to get his ult to do big numbers. Unkillable nonetheless.

7. REMEMBRANCE

[Possesses the ability to summon a memosprite with special abilities to fight alongside the team in battle]

HARU AND PEEKABOO KRILLING ENEMIES TOGETHER!!!

He's like, doesn't do much DMG but God is he fast. Similar to Aglaea in that regard.

The faster he gets a turn, the more dmg he's going to make. And the ult is actually more focused on Peekaboo changing into a different state (the creepy peekaboo with fangs and stuff). But Haru gets targeted often by enemies. Like Tingyun lol. So... it's so easy to drain his HP

Idk if you've seen the leaks but would it be funny if Ren summons that kranken baby (I FORGOT HIS NAME) and he can turn into giant kranken and just... obliterate the enemies...

BOONIE AS SHO'S MEMOSPRITE! Idk if this can happen in the future but to imagine a memosprite that relies on stack. Like how Acheron and Feixiao's work. YOU NEED TO FEED BONNIE SO SHE CAN WORK! She's such a diva honestly. But she does tons of damage so that makes up for it.

Sho's basic attack is just him throwing punches. That's it But I also want them to have 2 different ults. One is just bonnie, the other is Sho riding her. Again, idk how that's gonna work but there are different types of skill in GI i don't see why we can't have different ults in HSR.

8. HUNT

[Deals extraordinary amounts of single-target damage. The main damage dealer against Elite Enemies]

Leo's kit is pretty straightforward. I need him to be like Boothill in a way that he can shred enemies' shield as easy as he gets under people's skin (and dirt).

Yeah. He's going to be really similar to Boothill. He'd taunt one specific enemy to only hit him, which then will make him really vulnerable. Unlike Alan who is a destruction unit meant to tank, Leo just can't. Big numbers come with great vulnerability; it comes at a big price.

But he's a solid unit all and all. Would do so much more if you get his eidolons. He's going to bat his pretty eyes "Did I do good, Trailblazer? I was good, wasn't I? Now go get that credit card and pull more of me. Pretty please?" - Leo. Probably

Kaito as a hunt unit wwww He'd be a sub-dps type. Rather similar to Hunt March 7th. Depending on whose commands he listen to, he'll provide different buff (*cough* Jin *cough). Another one that synergize with Jin. Even though he's already too good on his own lol.

Romeo is situational. He can be main dps, he can be sub-dps. Really similar to Feixiao but instead of going fast he'd want the rest of the team to have their own turn first and gather his stacks for him. He's slow, he relies on ult to do big damage but dealing with bosses has never been easier when you have him in the team. The downside is he really need his light cone for you to unlock his full potential. I don't make the rules here he is EXPENSIVE! You can't give him some light cone from the shop let alone a 3star one

His technique immediately marks random enemy, making it his target. Similar to Leo, he deals with one enemy at a time. The mark can be moved by using his skill.

I think the target would not only marked just for show they'd also get debuffed (similar to Ratio). He ignores weakness type.

This one probably won't make sense but if one character in the team (let's say it's the main dps and Romeo is the sub-dps) is at their limits like low on hp, he's going to do more damage. He's going to shoulder the role of main dps.

And this would make Sinostra his best team.

That is all. But let's stretch this a bit further by ranking which house synergize well the most. I didn't imagine their kit as a team, I imagined them individually. That means some dorm team wouldn't be as good.

Frostheim: 3.5/5

Two main DPS: Jin and Tohma One sub-DPS/Buffer: Kaito One shielder: Luca

Jin can carry the team just fine tbh. Too much damage dealer imo

Vaga: 2.5/5

They're all doing the damage. No one's buffing the team, no one's keeping them alive. They rlly said YOLO but i guess that's vaga for you. Alan can tank but Leo is gonna die first (or the enemy. that really depends on the player)

Jabberwock: 2.5/5

Worst than vaga. I mean they're all gigachad especially Towa and Ren, but Haru will be so vulnerable to attacks. They need at least one healer in the team

Sinostra: 4.5/5 and yes i am BIASED

Taiga can tank a little and he's fun to play with (some players will say he's annoying before they even got to play him). And Since he can tank he doesn't need Ritsu's shielder as much as Romeo.

Taiga needs to bleed, Romeo need stay alive to get the team to win (and be Taiga's substitute just in case he's reckless enough to die), and Ritsu is a perfect shielder for them. Ritsu is unkillable and he's going to defend (protect) both of them until the end.

Hotarubi: 4/5

If I stick with remembrance Zenji, this team will do just fine. Haku will kill most of the enemies and Subaru is there to make him deal damage more often.

Obscuary: 4.5/5

Obscuary being centered on team that full on debuffing the enemies till they die. No they don't need buff they will weaken the enemies with practically no effort. Rui is there to support them and Lyca can get the job done fast.

Mortkranken: 4/5

Yuri and Jiro works well together in the story, they also work well in this one. No other healer can keep Jiro on the team to constantly deal damage the way Yuri does. Yuri is tailor-made for Jiro and Jiro is tailor-made for Yuri.

To get a gist of the game (if you havent heard of it already), it’s pretty much ab the seven deadly sins demons who you meet after getting chosen for an exchange program between hell (kingdom called devildom), heaven and earth. You’ll meet the characters later on in game i dont wanna spoil that much🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️ the character designs are beautifulll!! especially their sr/ssr cards!! even the side characters are stunning. on the downside though, the developers are ending the stories of both obey me and obeyme:nightbringer on a rushed/unsatisfactory ending🥲 the story is will def get you hooked though!! The mini gameplays to get to each chapter is also easy to learn/somewhat easy to win if you’re just a lil strategic

NEXT WE HAVE What in Hell is Bad?

sex. Loads and loads of sex. Not just scenes in the chapters, but also in a side gameplay. You’ll understand what im talking about if you see the game’s preview on appstore.

sadly, i havent played much of this game cs oohh my god it’s like having an open relationship w main love interest and side characters🥹. Yet again, a story with the seven deadly sins demons like obey me but their designs are vastly different! can’t say much about the story cs i havent continued playing at the moment!!

THIRD … im gonna put my 2 cents on WUWA (wuthering waves)

Personally, OBSESSED w this game. The characters are flirty af w mc regardless if you pick male or female mc. Even the villains omg. It’s on par w genshin for me. So far, i’m beyond satisfied w the male characters design like jiyan and calcharo:

Jiyan has a super romantic/heartfelt scene w mc in certain quest, he’s simply amazing to me. The gameplay is superb!! Each character has their own respectively unique ultimate designs, special signature moves that speak their own selves

um.. love and deepspace pls🤲🏼 must i say mORE. Okay other than the hot men, the storyline is consistent and includes other side characters that blend well w the story and the characters. Each love interest has their own mythical story other than their present love that adds more depth to the love interests. Mc is customisable to an extent!! Super fun events and generous awards/gifts!

How do you feel about the Penacony final boss?

I love it both gameplay and story wise.

I’m gonna yap about the gameplay because I actually adore HSR’s combat system so yeah. Personally, I think the weakness break = gained shield mechanic is great, as you are a) forced to use Harmony MC who is an amazing breaker and also buffs characters who like breaking which causes b) you bring characters who also like breaking things, which is a really good way to Segway into the new break effect meta we will be seeing, and allows players to get a feel for it before Boothill and Firefly really release.

Also like, the music, the design, the Bible references, Robin? Robin. Witness the will of the weak? Chucking the fucking astral express at Sunday? How Sunday literally and metaphorically attacks us with music? The boss switching faces to look more like Ena’s puppet form at the end? I love it.

Story wise, it’s an amazing way to end Penacony. Harmony vs the Order, Robin vs Sunday, Everyone vs the Family. The shot where Robin catches Sunday is like engraved into my brain. The fact that he’s the bird who can’t fly and she’s the own who can, so he plummets and she flies to save him. How only when we defeat Sunday, can he be truly free.

In your dreams, you experience a warped version of reality. Perhaps it’s what you want to see, perhaps it’s what you don’t want to see, perhaps it’s something else entirely. In this, dreams mirror life. They prepare us to live, they give us experiences we might never have in reality, they show us possibilities we may or may not encounter. However, dreams are fleeting and you will eventually wake up. That’s why people want to dream, because they want to experience reality, every part of it, the good and the bad, even the unimaginable, just without the consequences.

So when you inevitably wake up, and the dreams are no more, the only thing that remains are the memories of those dreams. Those dear memories, which you learn from again and again and again. So you dream, again, and again, and again, because only in reality can you appreciate and learn from the dream, and only in the dream can you truly understand reality. I can’t really phrase why I adore this line, so hopefully you can at least get an idea from this.

I honestly struggle to explain why I love 2.2 (and Penacony as a whole) in general, if I were to try, I’d probably say I just really love power of friendship plots. Call it corny or stupid, you are wrong! Incorrect! People coming together to support one another and achieve a common goal is the best thing ever! I adore how so many different factions with their own goals and philosophies and motives and methods from across the universe of hsr come together to fight for their freedom. To work well, in Harmony. To prove that no matter who or what you are, your life does not and should not be defined by Order.

So yeah, it’s great, hopefully I can phrase why it’s great in the future but for now I hope this satisfies

HSR players, let me get this straight...

Ok, so my main source of knowledge of that game and its characters comes from internet osmosis (Tumblr, cutscenes on Youtube, Tumblr again...), but still, someone fact check me on this because this is hilarious if true:

There's this really smart guy who has done everything in his power to be acknowledged by the Aeon of Erudition (basically the god of knowledge), but said Aeon has never gazed down upon him in spite of all of his hard work and all of his accomplishments. In-game, he is not an Erudition unit, but rather a Hunt one. Makes sense, he wasn't chosen by that Aeon and ended up with something else (To give a Genshin example because same company and because I actually played quite a lot of that one: Kinda like Noelle expected to get an Anemo Vision, and feels conflicted that her Vision is Geo instead), it makes a lot of sense!

Got that? Was everything correct? Good.

Because, there's also this other character: A self-proclaimed "Ninja Hero" girl who's a complete and utter Chuunibyou (before anyone comes at me, yes I know it is a coping mechanism because she has a traumatic backstory, but still). She's part of a faction who are devoted to or at least heavily associated with the Aeon of the Hunt, and "joining the Hunt" and it being "a path of no return" are things that were said to her when she joined the group after one of them rescued her from her traumatic backstory event, back when she was a kid. And joining the Hunt was something she very willingly did.

You'd expect that she'd be a Hunt character then, right? Nope!

She's Erudition.

Let me repeat that:

A genius professor who canonically has, and I quote, "8 PhDs, 1 First Class Honor degree, solved a planet's energy crisis on his own, and cured lithogenesis, the king of diseases, while he was still a young man", has never been deemed as worthy by the Aeon of Erudition. To quote again "Nous (the name of the Aeon) has never batted an eye at him". That's good backstory. That's good lore. It also makes him not being Erudition make total sense. There's probably a whole character analysis you could make as to why he ended up as Hunt, too.

Which is why I find it hilarious that the manga-reading rapper girl who acts and perceives the world around her as if it was an anime-esque videogame (...which I'm just now realizing that in a meta sense it kinda is, but shhhh) is the one who gets to be Erudition instead.

Look, I know for sure that the Aeons don't select which 'Paths' people get, just like in Genshin it is not the Archons who hand out the Visions. (or at least, I don't think they do)

I also know that there might be some of what TV Tropes calls "Gameplay and Story Segregation" going on here.

But still... I love the mental image of this being like that one "i sleep - real shit" meme with Dr. Ratio trying his best to get Nous to notice him and failing, studying hard as he begins working on getting his eighth professional doctorate degree... Meanwhile Nous just looked at this random girl on the streets screaming "This is Ninjutsu Secret Techinque: Dazzling Ninja Seal!" as she's spraying graffiti spray paint on some random creep's eyes and went something along the lines of "This one right here. Yes, this one is worthy."

OOC post inbound, but I wanted to make it a point to announce I have officially finished Penacony! You heard me absolutely correct! I’m beyond late to the party! 🎉

That said, under the cut just holds my general thoughts around Penacony’s story. For the time being, I’m going to focus on changing things around on this blog.

I was going to take the time to really structure this, but then I decided that the emotional and mental and potentially physical trauma this gameplay put me through is not worth all of that energy.

Penacony is beautiful. Downright aesthetically one of my favourite places to be explored in Star Rail. The energy is perfectly exuded within the design. A utopian experience for the rich, and nobody else but the rich. Endless partying, supplies of a euphoria that simply held no weight to anybody but one’s will. If I’m honest, that part of Penacony? The very thing itself? I absolutely loved it.

The storyline, though? SHOOT ME. Just SHOOT ME. Lord, if you’re real — please DO NOT enable it to be reborn. I got so lost during this gameplay so much that I ended up dropping it to make my characters a lil cuter, a lil stronger.

…and then I dropped HSR and came right back to it.

I’m (somewhat ashamed) to admit that sometimes, I need things to be blatantly shoved in my face in order for me to get it. Keeping the fire to enjoy the actual plot line of Penacony was SO HARD. Fortunately, Sparkle planting bombs everywhere actually redeemed the storyline for me. I didn’t like Sparkle when I first started Penacony, but ended up finishing it with a light liking for her.

That part in particular enabled us to see the relationships between the characters through text messages, and I honestly really liked that. The out-of-pocket interactions through Sparkle’s behaviour brought me a sense of joy. I’m realising that my only two takeaways of Penacony (that aren’t negative) is that it is pretty & Sparkle is humouring.

Oops.

I do not regret pouring the time to complete it, because I really like the storyline of it overall. It sits on the fence of contentment and being a story that is liked by me. I don’t mind a story that is complex in nature, but when you end up tearing back layers of an onion, you’re gonna shed a few tears (of potential disappointment). I guess I would have been fine just having someone relay the basic premise rather than have to go through all that effort to get there.

I’m going to rate Penacony a soliiiid 6/7 (out of 10). It is only that high because of Marchie and Sparkle. And these texts.

Last time on playing Amphoreus weeks after everyone else, our heroes were tragically disconnected from the server moments before entering the final room of Castrum Kremnos. What awaits them beyond the giant door?

Our heroes have misunderstood. It wasn't the final room.

Neither here nor there, but one more tiny bit of Chinese learned: The Herta's turn-begin voiceover includes "一起上吧" which I recognized from Senadina's Stellar Outburst in HI3. HSR's voice lines translate it as "all at once," but in context, I'm assuming it's meant as "all together now."

Also I'm just now wondering who in-canon writes the character profiles in game. Because Herta's just saying "human, female, young, beautiful, attractive" reeks of "according to her" lol. She is most of those, but young? Compared to who, dear?

Look at my little dudes!!!

1) Misha is a recent favorite of mine, even though I had my eye on him since he first showed up in leaks. He's just a sweet little nerd doing his best and chilling around.... well, and also having a crapton of foreboding story implications, but shhhhhhhh don't worry about it!

His character stories and animations are insanely adorable also. I love this little guy and I wish him much happiness and peace (and also maybe a visit to the Express at one point)!

2) Yanqing!! My beloved idiot who I've been missing since he stopped showing up every patch!!

I'll admit I didn't care much for Yanqing before the game's release.... but then I got him as my first 5 star on day 1, and he immediately stapled himself to the fave list! This dork and his funny flying swords carried me for a solid 2 patches, and are still chipping in every now and then when refrigeration is required!

Gameplay aside... I'm honestly really sad about how his character is handled most of the time. There are highlights like the end of his companion mission and his segment in Foxian Tale of The Haunted, but otherwise, Yanqing is there for the sake of being there, or he's there and acting unusually out of character to prop up someone else. It's really annoying, honestly. Messes up what would otherwise be very great scenes for Yanqing and everyone else involved. I'm glad they're starting to depart from that (see once again: Foxian Tale. God, I loved his part in it so much).

hi! mac or android is no problem, but you actually need a verified bilibili account to play the CN release if you're not a chinese citizen! my friend on twitter has a really helpful guide for doing it (link to tweet, direct link to guide) but note that it does include verifying your identity with your actual ID and face so like if you're not down to do that then it's best to just wait and hope for a global release HAHA

i enjoy guilongchao so far! the story is engaging for me (lin's actually made me cry) and the combat is fun naman, it's also really fun for me to hear other chinese languages used in the voiceovers although i can't understand them and the only one i DO know is barely understandable bc even tho it's also from fujian it's like one county over so i can't parse it 😭 (philippine hokkien, the one ik, is mostly based on quanzhou hokkien while lin speaks puxian)

lin is one of my favs so far bc when you're in the side-scroller areas her running/sprinting/jumping animations are all figure skating and its so cute i love herrr i also really like yu bing bc she's like kujou sara to me. I'm trying to get changmingsuo bc i love her design but the banner is beating my ass LOL

i think it's a fun gacha all in all ! do take note though that it's not open world, that's not its main draw; the explorable areas are more like hsr's

Feixiao

The Arbiter-General of the Xianzhou Yaoqing. Referred to as the Merlin's Claw. Decisive like lightning and always doing what is right, she has demonstrated outstanding military success through her martial prowess.

introductory build: I've been rather lucky with my valorous luck so far. still tweaking but this is not a bad place to be in after only a few dedicated weeks worth of farming

completely folded on myself and pulled for her. she quite literally cost me everything (227 warps) to pull her. big fan of her whole kit and love her animations though. I think she’ll prove to be very worth all the effort

March 7th - The Hunt

A girl who once slumbered in eternal ice and knows nothing about her past. To find out the truth about her origins, she decided to travel with the Astral Express. As of right now, she has prepared about 67 different versions of her life story for herself.

acquired & began the building process! big fan of her gameplay, she's been really fun to play around with while I test out potential shifu configurations

has two potential build routes to take: traditional dps (crit) and break; I'll probably go 4pc musketeer + rutilant for crit & 4pc thief + talia for break. could also go pioneer + salsotto for crit & calvary + forge for break, but that sounds like a headache in the making

Moze

An aide under Feixiao. He is in charge of intelligence and security. As a hidden blade, his presence is rarely perceived, appearing only when he is needed.

will be working on building him up when I’ve got the chance. really love his design and gameplay—can’t wait to have him built up enough to truly shine

Seele

A resident of the Underworld and the backbone of Wildfire. She goes by the alias "Babochka." She has a frank personality, but there is a delicate and sensitive hidden side to her deep in her heart.

working towards overhauling the entire build: swapped glamoth planars for rutilant, recycled the outdated 4-star quantum dmg sphere, & traded atk ropes w/serval

relevant stat change(s): +10.9 spd, -2.2% crate, +8.8% cdmg, -177 atk

score change: +34 (S+)

was not planning on messing with her anytime soon but I ended up using her to complete the 2.3.1 PF, which was quite satisfying to do, so she is officially being taken off the bench (until I pull a multi-target quantum damage dealer that I like more)

need to farm 4pc genius (crate body + atk boots); could potentially go 2pc genius, 2pc musketeer but I'd get more dmg out of a full set of genius so that's my priority

don't have any plans to pull for her sig since I don't use her all that much. would need to look into the benefits of all the hunt cones to see if it's worth having on my acct

Sushang

Born on the Xianzhou Yaoqing, sent to the Cloud Knights of the Luofu for military training. She wields her family sword, a gift from her mother, and longs for the future she will go on to write.

due to my boothill investment, I have no need to work on or use sushang anymore; a tragedy because the big chicken is one of my favorite ults

Topaz & Numby

Senior Manager of the Strategic Investment Department in the Interastral Peace Corporation, and leader of the Special Debts Picket Team. Already a member of the "Ten Stonehearts" at a young age, Topaz's Cornerstone is the "topaz of debt retrieval." She and Numby— her partner —are traversing the cosmos together, chasing down various debts and liabilities that negatively influence the IPC's commercial ventures.

Numby: A Warp Trotter who is capable of acutely perceiving where "riches" are located, and Topaz's family and business partner. It can even perform jobs involving security, debt collection, and actuarial sciences.

unowned: not interested in pulling. may change depending on the release of future synergistic follow-up units

Yanqing

General Jing Yuan's retainer. A gifted swordsman who hasn't even come of age. No one can best Yanqing when he holds a sword in hand.
