Hot take but The Power of the Doctor is a better celebration of the history of Doctor Who and the history/impact of the Doctor than the Sixtieth Anniversary Specials.
#it's about the Doctor talking to all the former versions of herself and them embracing her and giving her strength#but also about all of the former companions getting to have their word on the doctor#and show what they did after the doctor#and because of the Doctor#like i love donna fourteen mel snd kate#but that's all we got out of the 60th anniversary specials#other than maybe the giggle they didn't feel like anniversary specials#they were FUN and emotionally lovely don't get me wrong#but not a celebration of everything that gad come before#or a discussion of the Doctor's history outside of the one puppet scene and specifically his history with Donna#the companion support group? ace and tegan? the former doctor?#i have complicated feelings about the power of the doctor being a regeneration episode because i really think it should have been separate#but as an anniversary special?#it does its purpose better than the 60th anniversaries do#have y’all thiught abt the fact that the power of the doctor is technically the most doctors we've ever had in an episode before#(new footage that is the 50th doesn’t count)#thirteenth doctor#fourteenth doctor#fifteenth doctor#seventh doctor#eighth doctor#first doctor#sixth doctor#fifth doctor#the power of the doctor#doctor who 60th anniversary
