I was just reminded of a time a friend of mine called me and asked what I was up to so I said I was having tea. And he said, "oh, I just read about how you should use different temperatures of water for black tea vs green tea." And I said "oh cool, I didn't know that." He said "which are you drinking." I said "neither, it's mint tea." He said "so green?" I said, "no, there's no green tea in this. It's just dried mint leaves." He continued to insist it must be either black or green, and I continued to try to explain that "green tea" doesn't just refer to the color it refers a drink made from the actual tea plant, and my mint tea is literally green but it doesn't contain any leaves from a tea plant. To which he got annoyed at me for "refusing to answer."

I am totally sympathetic to the fact that the terminology is counter-intuitive. It is! It's super confusing! But he acts like I'm making things hard on purpose because he doesn't understand something.

#he thinks of himself as super feminist but he loves explaining things he just read a sentence about and doesnt actually understand to women #like the time he confidently told me (a linguist) that the term tenure came about #because it's the status you get after being a professor for ten years #which is just false #like he just made that up #he does this every conversation and then complains that im 'always fact checking him'#also the last time i complained about mansplaining on here it escaped containment #and i got comments about how elitist and condescending i am bc not everyone can get a degree in linguistics #so im making this one not rebloggable preemptively

kabru is canonically too smart for miscommunication trope. if anything laios would flirt with him One Single Time and kabru catches on immediately and runs it through his mental processor (does laios not know what he's doing? -> no he does. is he doing this to practice?? -> laios would not lead me on like that -> is he aware of how i feel? -> am i aware of how i feel???) and then literally the next time laios is free he schedules a meeting they sit down at the table kabru leans across looks him dead in the eyes and says very calmly on a scale of im just playing to lets get married how serious are u about this

I just had a DPxDC crossover idea that I thought was funny.

What if every time John Constantine sold his soul he was basically agreeing to being “adopted” by the entity he was selling his soul to.

He thinks all of the entities he sold his soul to are leaving him alone because they’re too busy fighting/have a truce to not fight as long as none of them claim his soul, meanwhile he’s got like a dozen or so ghost/demon parents ready to go to court to fight for custody when he finally dies.

Danny, having been taken in as a ward by an older ghost since he technically counts as a baby ghost until he’s 100 or something, meets Constantine for the first time and is like: “Why are you 1/15th my brother?”

Bonus points if Danny is technically the big brother in ghost terms because he’s been a ghost the longest. Sure Constantine may be a little liminal but that doesn’t count he doesn’t even have a death day yet.

Like:

Danny (Certified little shit): “Baby brother why do you never come to dinner? :(”

Constantine, too sober for this: “The fuck did you just call me?”

Constantine vehemently denies any relation but they bicker like siblings.
