Hi Clari! Ik you're not really focused on it right now, but do you think you'd ever be tempted to write Dazai/Reader/Fyodor or Dazai/Reader/Ranpo? I love brunette genius sexymen. Hope you're having a good day! :3
hello!!! ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡ oooh yes!!! i actually had a dazai x reader x fyodor mafia au fic idea, but it was only ever outlined and only a tiny bit of it has actually been written. i love fyodor so much as a character and i wish i wrote more for him, especially narrative pieces! i’d love to further explore what i believe his romantic relationship dynamics would be,,, maybe one day!!!
aw thank you sweetpea, i hope you are as well!!! unfortunately i have been sick in bed all day (¬_¬")

On the angel idea, during duo soukoku both stuck with darling. What if angel Fyodor (maybe Nikolai?) just shows up out of nowhere and takes an interest. What would everyone’s reaction be?
(ABSOLUTE CHAOS)
i will say, it's very hard for me to include nikolai's personal values? with him being an angel, so this is just a silly little What If? thing. so nikolai's doing this own little thing
cw: nikolai typical behavior
Tumblr media
you'd think that being housemates with literal demons would desensitize you to anything...otherworldly, but nothing can prepare you for whatever nikolai was. he introduced himself as your "guardian angel", and apologizes for being gone for so long, promising to be by your side from then on.
you're already sure that he's a fraud, but the pretty wings behind his back and the golden halo, paired with his otherwordly energy convinces you, at least a little, that his words may not entirely be a lie.
but your hopes are shattered when soon, you meet with the very unangelike personality of nikolai, especially towards your roommates. you've never heard such graphic, violent threats until you overheard nikolai threatening to kill dazai, never seen someone so excited as the prospect of angering chuuya (apart from dazai, at least), and never thought you'd have a guardian angel that did his job so badly.
with nikolai by your side, your chances of getting into a very risky situation and facing imminent death increase by at least 40%, though he tries to reassure you by promising that you'd become an angel if you died. he makes fun of you, hides your things in his coat, and writes down every single 'sin' you commit in a little notebook. suddenly, you're starting to wonder if the wings and the halo were fake too.
but when he wants to, he does a good job at keeping you safe from chuuya + dazai, constantly annoying them to get them to leave (as he says, "fighting fire with fire"). he doesn't let dazai drag you down to hell, and doesn't let chuuya's cult get their hands on you. he still has those times when he goes eerily quiet and stares at you for no clear reason, sometimes asking you strangely morbid questions, but he immediately snaps out of it and goes back to his fun persona.
you come to realize that he's not all that much better than dazai and chuuya. it's almost like you've just gained another unwanted housemate. he lingers in your space for longer than you'd like, inspects your things without any regard for your privacy, and drags you wherever he wants, even if you're not willing to go.
about powers, nikolai has some kind of divine energy. he doesn't ever tell you about it in detail, but you've seen him glow at times when he's particularly irritated or excited, and you assume his coat is some manifestation of his powers, because dazai swats at it like it offends him in some way. that, and the fact that the demon duo are constantly complaining about feeling sick when nikolai's around, more so when he's all glowing. (you don't think to ask if he can do that to humans too).
there's obviously some things he's hiding from you. he doesn't tell you why, if he was supposed to be your guardian angel, he was missing for so long, only assuring you that he had been watching over you for a while now. when you tell him that you don't hate dazai and chuuya's company, he looks...upset. he frowns and tells you that they're no good to have around; the exact same reasons he uses to keep you away from your human friends, too.
when you see him glowering over at someone who had bumped into you, his body glowing and his hand reaching into his coat, dread immediately fills you. it's only amplified when you see the weapon he brings out, with a frightening grin on his face. it's times like this that you realize you'd rather have him as your protector than your pursuer—at least this way, you were alive and (mostly) unharmed.

What top 5 bsd relationships do you find the most interesting/appeals to you? (can be platonic/familial/duo/etc)
no pressure btw 💗
oh gosh. top 5 most interesting??? i was rotating this in my mind at work all day and was still struggling. so here's five character interactions in no particular order
i'm always down for dynamics among the "big 4" aka the two younger soukoku generations. dazai chuuya atsushi akutagawa. both in their pairings and among each other--observing the different ways dazai interacts with atsushi vs with akutagawa will always be interesting to me as its a measure of dazai's own growth. i like the respect akutagawa and chuuya have for each other as coworkers and powerful ability users. atsushi and akutagawa......... they. them. those two. there's so much there. i think we're robbed of chuuya and atsushi interactions because there's SOOO many parallels between them that i like to chew on. and of course there's dazai and chuuya. which i have a lot of thoughts on, all the time. but... all four of them together and each respective dynamic is really interesting. the way being powerful ability users all shoved together on the front lines of every major catastrophe of the city messes with them each individually and together is fun.
this one is more recent for me but oda and dazai's friendship is really interesting to me, and the way oda's influence has followed dazai through his life (and multiple timelines). oda has grown on me as a character a lot recently, and i'm usually obsessed with dazai, so its natural for me to gravitate towards interactions between them.
i can't make a post about pairings without discussing rimlaine. rimbaud and verlaine and all their fucking problems. stormbringer is such a book. i could ramble for days about those two and it would never be enough. how rimbaud never stopped trying to understand. how verlaine didn't realize anything until it was too late. they're tragic and make me miserable. i'm obsessed with them.
the ada dynamics in general! i love seeing all of them come from all the wild pasts they do and coming together to be such a powerful group, to the point they can brush the entire mafia aside without much of a struggle. i love them all dearly. especially kunikida. but... all of them, really.
chuuya and his pseudo-siblings! like kouyou. i love their interactions a lot. i also kinda assign him the team older brother. kyoka? she was kouyou's charge. she's chuuya's little sister now. can't get around it. q? weird kid locked up in the dungeons? that's his little sibling. and verlaine goes here too because sure, they don't have an amicable sibling relationship, but they still have some kind of interaction, i believe. all the chuuya siblingships are fun to me.
there's so many more that i find interesting, honestly. like, i know i said the ada in full, but specifically ranpo and fukuzawa will always be fun to look at in their silly little family dynamic. katai hanging out in his futon shouldn't be ignored, someone (kunikida) has to check on him. whatever the hell steinbeck and lovecraft have going on? fascinating. the way dazai and fyodor go back and forth? the dead apple triumvirate?? every dynamic in bsd has its place in my heart honestly this was REALLY difficult to even think of a top 5. so this is more like a top 27 lmao

A bit of annoucement
Hello,
Something different this time 😅
I got into BSD over summer, trying to catch up with all content. Frankly, I tend to stay away from shounen genre as usually these stories bore me after some time – action feels repetitive, some disappointing character choices and so on. But since BSD was always in my orbit as series with ‘other Ugetsu’ xD I decided to give a chance and oh my…….. it is really good.
Ofc it would be better it was more queer, but I guess intense male friendships are part of shounen xD Totally not written like romantic relationship xD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And for real they have such similar looks and vibe XD
And since I have a lot of thoughts, probably I will start writing down when I will have some free time.
I know you follow me for Given content so I am not sure if I should put it here or create something new account… if you have any suggestion feel free to write to me^^ or you can simply like this post if you don’t mind me writing here.
If you want to know where I stand when it comes to bsd – here are some my opinions^^ - also some spoilers here !!
Fav characters: Dazai, Chuuya, Akutagawa, Fyodor *plays Anti-hero in background*
Characters that grown on me: Atsushi, Fitzgerald, Yosano, Kyouka, Ranpo
Characters that I like just because xD: Poe, Mori, Tecchou, Gogol, Rimbaud, Verlaine, Adam
Character I wanted to like but nah:/ : Kunikida (because his character arc builds up but leads nowhere - it is frustrating to me too much)
Character that I am neutral on: Oda (imo he is good character, but it was very predictable to me what will happen to him and kids - it was hard for me to get invested)
Characters I dislike: Tanizaki (like literary I can’t find anything interesting about him xD), Shibusawa (imo he was meant to be cool villain but felt too much typical in the end)
Character interactions I want more:
Chuuya&Akutagawa (I was happy for changes in DA stage play even though Chuuya was a bit too mean xD)
Kyouka&Lucy (they have lots in common and could be good friends),
Chuuya&Verlaine (SB needs follow-up)
Gin&Higuchi (imo more female friendship would turn out good for the story)
Kouyou&Chuuya (imo it is weird how mentorship was teased, but we got nothing substantial)
Fyodor&Sigma (I want more creator/creation dynamic as it is always fun and that betrayed Sigma’s look- oh boi)
Chuuya&Dazai (I simply want Chuuya to punch Dazai for that attempted drowning xD)
Fav arc:
Stormbringer (perfection, I loved everything)
The Perfect Murder And Murderer – I love deduction time xD and how it is like breather between more action-packed arcs. Ranpo-Poe duo is just so much fun^^  Mushitarou’s story was great and I loved his theatrical antics. I liked how Ranpo was developed in this arc – the consequences from feeling guilty from mistakes in Cannibalism
I also love all parts where ADA and PM has to cooperate xD so much goodness. Shin Sokokou and Sokoku are really heart of story, Fukuzawa-Mori and Yosano-Black Lizards were highlights too
Most disliked arc:
Azure Messenger in anime (it was so bad on every level xD I didn’t read LN version and I don’t feel like it honestly xD)
Dazai’s demise in Beast (I was so angry when I read it *throwing-book-kind-of-angry* Honestly I like better that from spoilers movie version sounds more ambiguous on that)
What I like about writing:
Compelling characters – really Asagiri and Harukawa have knack for creating interesting characters
Symbolism – you know it is my jam xD Especially I love ying-yang relationship between ADA and PM – it is soo cool how there is basically light side but with bit of darkness (represented by dark past and trauma) and dark side with such selfless motive like protecting peace in city and comrades xD I like how story makes them cooperate together and this being shown as ‘the way’ and how characters are getting karma back at them when trying to antagonize/distrust each other xD it is really cool that there is no simple PM = evil and ADA = good guys, but more complexity is going on.
Message – imo story has heart in right place. I like how characters have agency and can be who they want - not defined by their dark past, but the will to be better person. I also liked theme of humanity in SB and how it was handled that origin matters less and the most important are ppl in which eyes someone is human.
My issue with writing:
more spotlight on female characters pretty please *siigh* honestly I just want more all of them
when strong competent character is conveniently disappearing from main action XD I mean I understand that is for plot reason, but it is so often and weird sometimes – imo it would be better to just make short notice that Chuuya/Kyouka/etc is just somewhere else doing something
Theories time (I wonder if I will got something right😄):
Chuuya tearing down Meursault completely, alliance with Fyodor on his free will (imo it would be more interesting this way, but opposite is rather more possible)
Fyodor’s ability will be opposite to Dazai (something like ability control like Rogue from X-men) and his backstory will be parallel to Chuuya/Verlaine (because paralells are fun xD)
Fukuzawa will die this arc (maybe Mori too if story will go for soulmate vibe xD)
PM taking over Bram’s skill and staying as vampires, Bram living normal life
Redemption + Atonement arc for DoA (yep, all of them – actually imo it would be neat if Fukuchi founded theatre as irl – art for healing~~)
I hope loose threads will have follow up – Steinback and Fitzgerald confrontation, Mitchell and Hawthorne reunion, healing arc for Q, Verlaine in PM, Tachihara and Yosano’s arc lack proper conclusion too…

hello! kitty here. it's been a while. i hope ur doing well & taking care of urself. i read ur abilities post & it is intriguing. i wanted to ask if u read chapter 84 of the BSD manga? if u didn't then *manga spoilers*. anyway about the part where Dazai says that everything he did was for the sake of that moment where they take down fukuchi? are u telling me that this man predicted everything in advance from even when he was in the mafia at what like 16?just wanna know ur thoughts.have a nice day
Hiya, Kitty! I’m doing better than before. I hope you’re also doing well! And yep, I’m up to date on the manga. I saw the raws for this month and dang, I was not ready haha.
So, when he says everything he did was for the sake of that moment, I think he’s exaggerating a little. Dazai is canonically a drama queen, after all. I doubt he would have known about Fukuchi and the Hunting Dogs, much less that they would eventually become a threat. Plus, this was years before Oda’s death. Dazai was very much Port Mafia at the time, with no real intentions of changing sides.
When he first met Akutagawa and saw his ability, Dazai was 16, so he would have already been known as part of soukoku. Dazai knows how effective an ability user duo can be, especially after the Dragon’s Head Conflict. Dazai’s always had an eye for potential. He saw Akutagawa and thought, well, this could be interesting. Because Akutagawa had loads of potential. He took Akutagawa in, intending to mold him into an effective front line fighter.
However, ability users are few and far between, so he was probably looking for the second half of his forming soukoku--but didn’t find anyone while in the PM. He always knew from the beginning that he wanted Akutagawa to be part of the next line of defense against threats to Yokohama, though what those threats would be, I doubt he knew.
And then Oda happened, and the ADA happened, he was dragged out of the river by a kid who just so happened to have a ridiculously powerful ability that complements Akutagawa’s in combat. Dazai had found the second part of his new soukoku.
I’m fairly sure Dazai met Fyodor during the period between leaving the PM and joining the ADA. He knew Fyodor was a threat as soon as they met, and plans for his new soukoku were probably forming by then. Because Fyodor would come to Yokohama, looking for the Book, and there needed to be a strong duo to oppose him when the time came.
So when Dazai says that everything he’s done since meeting Aku was for the sake of this moment, he’s not technically wrong. While I doubt he had Fukuchi in mind when forming shin soukoku, he was definitely thinking of future threats.
Anyway, hope that answers your question! I will now go to sleep, haha. Thank you for reading.

Ranpo lost his parents at 10 and now is 16, an info breaker, wanted by everyone in one way or another, unbeatable at fighting, and way too bitter. Yosano, who has just escaped from Mori, bumps into Ranpo and somehow becomes a tag-along. She immediately dislikes him because he's cynical, critical and is only interested in self-preservation. After sometime they run into Kunikida (who I have decided to age up two-four years because I want badass kids but not too young). Kunikida somehow joins them.
Oho~ now that’s an intriguing idea right there. There are a few tweaks to the thought here and there…
For one, while wouldn’t put it past him to be more knowledgeable in hand to hand combat I still don’t think he can throw a punch worth much. More than that, he’d be good with misdirection and blackmail, having enough beef on literally everyone that he can shut down most attacks on him, and evade the rest. Least to say, very few can lay a finger on him, and those who cans need an intellect close to or on par with his. (Least to say Mori, Dazai, Fyodor, and Edgar to a lower extent can probably keep up enough to corner him…just barely)
As for Yosano I’m sure her first impression is that he is an insufferable brat without a single car in the world and yeah, she probably won’t like him at all (especially if he opts for self-preservation over others, considering her history as a doctor). But while she sits at odds with his views, I’m sure she understands why he is like that, and is why she is reluctant to leave him alone.
As for Kunikida…blackmail. Create a false crime and rope him into it, and use that as leverage to keep him from calling authorities. Honestly though I actually think he and Katai would be a duo under Fukuzawa’s tutelage, and Kunikida meets Ranpo for assistance on a case. Truly they don’t get along any better, and Yosano would serve as mediator for all their bitter spats. While Ranpo mocks (perhaps even loathes) the ideals Kunikida tries to uphold, Kunikida does his best to uphold them as a way to prove Ranpo wrong. Least to say, he wants to help Ranpo, or at least break him out of his lonely bubble (because despite everything, he is incredibly sad and lonely, and does long for those innocent days where the world seemed so much brighter and simpler)
