I think Law knows the level of Luffy's craziness as he witnessed it first account at the Auction House when he punched the Celestial Dragon but what he wasn't prepared for was the benevolence, specifically, Law couldn't wrap his head on the part where Luffy's actions end up unintentionally helping a lot of people. To witness the juxtaposition of a pirate liberating countries to repay a simple favor for someone who happened to give him food, it's insane.

Couldn’t be more embarrassed.
Since the day your little baby girl started walking Law tried his damn hardest NOT to have her walk in on you both even getting DRESSED
But he goofed up.
He swore up and down his daughter was sleep and since it’s been a while since you both had been intimate Law couldn’t take it anymore after seeing your supple thicker body prancing around the house in just his shirt all day
He had you on your back on the bed, his soft damped lips on your warm skin as he licked and suckled your breast like a starved man
His hand having a firm grip on your wide thigh, your moans were swallowed by his mouth.
It wasn’t long until he added onto the pleasure and was 2 knuckles deep in your pussy while still sucking your breast. “Mmm!” You whined, feeling a smirk against your skin.
Law was feeling so in his element finally being able to feel and touch you like this again.
That was until—
“Daddy! Mommy!” Your daughter comes in yawning, her pretty dark skin shinning, wearing a small silk bonnet holding a white teddy bear Law got her for her 1st birthday. She had her father’s sleepy eyes.
It was like time froze when your door creaked open and immediately Law panics and throws a cover over your entire naked body.
“WH-WHA UH! YES! Ahem
yes, Rosie?”
Law’s voice creaked. It was adorable hearing him stutter trying to find the words to excuse what your daughter could have possibly saw.
You get up, luckily his shirt was by the floor so you swiftly put it on to pick her up. “What’s wrong, girly? Another nightmare?”
She nods, you decided to go and take her back in her room, looking back at a now flustered captain, wide eye’d and surpirgly a tent under the covers
Till this day Law now keeps the doors LOCKED when you both are getting busy, and fears your 2 year old daughter will one day ask him why did mommy have bruises on her chest
Sanji(oh my fuck sanji looks so good here)
Tumblr media
A quickie.
A simple quickie was what Sanji needed to keep going.
You knew Sanji’s libido didn’t lower since you had your daughter and honestly you believe it got worse somehow?
But he was your husband and his big pleading eyes of him asking “Just 15 minutes!” made it difficult for you to say no.
So as your 5 year old was watching cartoons in the living room, you and him decided to sneak off
“Oh f-fuck
” His breathed into your neck prodding his lubed tip between your folds. Despite this being a “quickie” the way he laid you down on the bed, hooking your legs around his hips made you think this was ganna be longer than just a few minutes.
He didn’t waste any time fucking you deep and slow with your dress hiked up over your breast for him to nibble on
“S-sanji! Yo-you! Ah! Gatta stay quiet!”
It was like yours words went from one ear and out the other, He had a tight grip on your hips so you won’t buck into him, he was whinning and panting in your ear and your could feel the headboard slap against the wall
It felt amazing yes, but it was only amount of time until—
“Daddy m’hungry
” Your beautiful baby walking in with big dark brown curly hair covering one eye and a cute little curly brow like her father.
The shriek Sanji let out was almost as girly as his daughter’s when she gets frightened.
You slap your forehead, quickly pushing his still body off of you and tossing a cover over him praying to God she didn’t see anything she may be scared with.
“Daddy? Why were you on mommy while she was in pain like tha—-“
“I WAS HELPING HER!” He yelled, awkwardly laughing laughing off his pink face and patting your head, using the sheets to covers HIS chest like a teenage girl caught. “YES! I was helping mommy because she was just in SOOO much pain!”
“More like helping yourself.” You mumble putting on your robe, you snicker at his quick glare at you. Picking her up she explains how she wants to eat and watch a movie with you both.
As Sanji scrambles to put on some clothing you giggle away distracting little Sora so your husband can cook you all dinner and watch the Little Mermaid
He had a pink face all evening, don’t worry though. You made it up to him later that night.
With the door locked.
Zoro
Tumblr media
Zoro said it would be a bad idea to do this because your son could be back from school at any moment, but you insisted you both had time
The moment you bent over on the couch for him exposing your wet cunt to his display was the same exact moment your husband forgot about any worries he had prior.
“You! Ah! Better
fucking cum !”
Your moans were broken into giggles the rapid snaps of his hips behind you, tugging your hair as you heard the panic in his voice made your jaw slack. Fuck, it felt so good to be fucked like this again.
You both still have sex on the regular, but it’s slower, and usually done in the shower. It’s been so long since Zoro was able to just bend you over and be as loud as he wants WHEREVER HE WANTS
You both were lost in the pleasure, if anybody were in your backyard they can see right where the glass doors were and watch the slutty view in front of them of Zoro pressing your hips down further.
You both were so close ! That was until the front door opened.
You fell straight on your stomach due to zoro’s suddenly weight on top of you. He started grumbling and mumbling in a panic.
Your 7 year old son, came in with a confused look, approaching you both closer your green haired idiot of a husband hollered waving.
“GO TO YOUR ROOM!”
“What?”
“JUST GO, KEHLANI ILL BE UP IN A SECOND I
.SPILLED SOMETHING.”
Your son shrugs, not really caring enough to ask anymore questions so he goes up the stairs and leaves, you thank God in that moment he had his father’s attitude.
Zoro gets up from your back, still slowly pulling out making sure you’re not hurt to put on his sweats and tee shirt and throwing you your clothes.
“I told you this was a bad idea. Thats how your ass got pregnant last time.”
“Oh yeah?” You bark back, “You remember that night well huh. You must have had flashbacks the way you was moaning—“
“I WASN’T FUCKING MOANING!”
“DAD! YOU GATTA PUT ANOTHER DOLLAR IN THE SWEAR JAR!”
You stick your tongue out at his angry flustered face seeing him go search for his wallet
Ace
Tumblr media
The twins were out with their uncle Luffy for the weekend.
Yes, you prayed heavily that they’ll be okay with him but Ace swore he’d be around his friends to to help
So
why not fuck around the while house like sluts?
And that you did.
After making a mess of the house you and Ace decided to just have a small smoking break before having to clean up and get ready for the babies to come back
But that of course led to shotgunning, which led to a heated makeout session, which then landed to Ace whispering you to ride him as he rutted beneath you.
Thats why you’re here, legs shaking and breast bouncing in front of your husbands face while he groans and whines to prettily about how good your tight cunt feels fluttering around his dick.
“S-so! Sensitive!”
“‘M ganna—!”
“ACE! Y/NNN!!!”
it was like time froze.
Luffy burst into your room holding your babies (in a very unsafe way on his shoulders) and started to laugh
“Ace I told you i was coming but—seems like Y/N was too!”
You swore if Luffy wasn’t holding your babies you would have threw a pillow at his head; instead you cover yourself in your blankets and let ace put on some shorts and take the kids while you get ready to take a shower
You grimace at the thought of your brother in law seeing your bare back, but thankfully your babies won’t remember since they’re only 1

and hopefully Luffy doesn’t ever speak of this moment again
Luffy
Tumblr media
Luffy doesn’t care.
He never had shame.
You had to teach him that when he got older and you both had your son.
He was a curious boy like his daddy, but the one thing he somehow managed to be at the sheer age of 7 was to somehow be more stealth
Y’all son, AJ was very very good at appearing out of no where and sneaking up on your both. Luffy swears he ate some kind of stealth DF.
You knew this would be an issue wanting to do quickies but Luffy didn’t care. He was hard and turned on after seeing you already starting to get thicker in the breast and thighs again after finding you you are in fact pregnant again with his baby.
So you do what any good girl of his does:
Suck his dick.
He swore it would be real quick, AJ was watching Pokemon and eating meat so they had about 11 minutes.
“Just lemme use your throat, mami—“
“
fine.”
So there you were; on your knees, hands on Luffy’s thick thighs as he damn near test how good your no gag reflexes were.
You’d be a lie to say his groans and whimpers never failed to arouse you.
You were itching from some relief too so you reach down into your panties to play with your clit, as your husband was coming close to his own high, gasping a little at how wet you were until——
“What are you and mommy doing?”
In an instant you pushed Luffy back to sit on the bed and tried shielding him with your body
“Ah—uh—AJ! Go!—-go um—“
“Mami está ocupada haciendo que papá se sienta bien!!”
You didn’t know much Spanish but you knew it had to be inappropriate because Luffy only speaks that to him when he says something nasty, so you smack his head
“We’ll be right out, AJ just go—“
“Mommy are you okay? Daddy said you were making him fee—“
“Go ! AJ! Please, baby go back in the living room.”
He does as told, hesitantly, but you shut the door on him and your dim witted husband just sighs, “So
no more?”
You didn’t talk to him the whole day.

One piece film red spoilers!!
I just watched the movie and even though I knew uta was the villain and that shanks would appear it STILL surprised me so much. There’s no chance I could’ve predicted the absolute fever dream of this movie.
I don’t know what the general opinion is on this movie, but I honestly didn’t like it that much. The first thirty minutes were nice and intriguing, especially as all of utas comments become more and more menacing!!
(Side Note: I loved the outfits, sanji law nami and robin looked soooo good)
Then it honestly turned out to be really boring I even fell asleep at one point. I liked the story line but the way they handled it was really mediocre. Everyone hyped it up so much and it even aired in international cinemas so I thought it’d be this incredible movie and it really wasn’t.
It’s the first movie with really modern animation which is great, but the differences in volume, the over saturation, the random songs, and the really (really) boring middle part really kinda ruined it.
The final fight was straight up Oda on drugs in my opinion. This freaking demon was just incredibly random and the amount of plot holes I spotted were honestly really annoying.
But the last like 15/20 minute were really amazing! The lore and trauma that was revealed, shanks and luffys (and yasopp and usopps T_T) connection was AMAZING. It makes the moment when shanks turns up in wano even better. (Also the daddy issues were kicking when shanks took the exhausted uta in his arms at the end and calls her his daughter)
I loved how Ben also called her “our daughter”. She really belongs to the red hair pirates and I’m glad she joined them again. Like she’s incredibly messed up don’t get me wrong, but she’s also just a traumatized girl :,)
Something that confused the shit out of me (again plot hole especially timing wise), everything kinda made it seem like the movie takes place before wano, but then luffy appears in gear five??? It’s only small and not really noticeable if you don’t know what it is I think but I still think it’s very strange to put it in a movie that airs a long time before the gear five episodes come out in the anime
. I was so excited to see it but thought it was very strange tbh
So I think the ending kind of saved the movie for me? But I honestly think that strong world for example is much much better

It Comes in Waves
Chapter 18: Fetch Trafalgar Law x gn!reader word count: 1.7k first|next a/n: i swear fetch is an ocean term truuust
Everything seemed to go off without a hitch. Aside from Luffy giving everyone a heart attack by straight jumping off the elephant to the Thousand Sunny down below. You laughed the whole way with Luffy as the other’s screamed. You had jumped off Zunesha yourself not too long ago, after all.
The weather wasn’t too bad, it seemed the ocean had calmed down after you spoke with her. You stood at the railing, leaning on it and looking down into the depths below. The whole interaction ran through your mind again. You still had so many questions that were unanswered.
“It says here that the Revolutionary Headquarters were completely destroyed!” You were ripped from your thoughts as you heard Pedro speak. You looked over, seeing the paper in his hands, heading over to him. Luffy bounded over. “That’s Sabo!” Worry crossed his features.
You glanced over Pedro’s shoulder. “I think if something happened to Sabo, it would’ve been mentioned.” You saw the worried look in his eye. He just got his brother back after all - and losing one is enough. “I’m sure he’s just fine. It takes more than that to take him down.”
Luffy looked at you and laughed off his worries. “You’re right. Sabo’s super strong!” You nodded along with him, smiling. He was about to run off again when Nami pointed out the other man mentioned. “Luffy, aren’t you worried about your dad?” Luffy looked at her and blinked.
“Who?” You chuckled at his reaction, shaking your head. He never really cared about knowing his father. After all, the man wasn’t exactly there. “That’s my dad?!” His mouth dropped open. “He doesn’t look anything like me!” You watched him with amusement in your eyes.
“Wait, what’s that smell?” You looked over, noticing a large fire from the kitchen. “Hey! Who is cooking?”
Luffy spoke up. “I forgot to turn off the stove!” A horrified look crossed your face.
“Y’all let him cook!?” You looked at the others and they just looked at you. You could only imagine what kind of horrendous good he created - and you soon found out.
“It looks like it’s from the sewer,” you mumbled. You weren’t getting anywhere near that. “Uh, how about I make something else? What is left?”
“I used all of it,” Luffy said. You nearly passed out with everyone else. “You used all the food?! Luffy what were you thinking! That’s supposed to last us a week!” The captain of the ship stared at you. “And who knows when we’ll see another island.” You sighed, running a hand through your hair.
“Alright, time to fish.”
--
Holy shit, you were starving. “I got a big one!” You looked over as you heard Luffy cry out. Next thing you knew, a large fish was on the deck and he was already beginning to eat it. “Wait, we need to find out if it’s poisonous!” You ran over to him, but it was already too late. And Chopper was coming out at that moment, yelling about how its skin was poisonous. You cursed softly as Luffy was already down for the count. Damn, that worked fast.
“Dammit, Luffy,” you mumbled, kneeling next to him. You looked him over with Chopper. “Can you fix him?” Then you heard some kind of omnipresent voice and a giant snail of a ship seemed to appear. You blinked, tilting your head to the side. What the hell was going on?
“Sanji!” “Hi, Sanji!” You followed the girls’ gazes to the figure on deck. “Hold on - I don’t know if that’s Sanji,” you mumbled. It didn’t feel right. Something was off. The way he stood just staring, especially with Nami right next to you. Nami looked at you. “What do you mean?”
“I mean, Nami,” you looked at her. “You’re literally right here and you haven’t seen him in how long?” She frowned, looking from you to the man they thought was Sanji. “He’d be freaking out right now if he saw you.” Nami frowned. “You’re right.”
“Sanji! Luffy’s hurt!” You heard Chopper this time.
“Why do you keep calling me Sanji?” The man took off his hood and revealed someone who very much was not Sanji. You looked at the others. “I mean, we all know Sanji wouldn’t dress up that dumb anyway and look at his fuckin’ hair.” You snorted softly, causing Nami to giggle next to you. “That’s true. He’s usually dressed to the nines.”
“My name is Yonji - what are you laughing about?” He glared at you and the two of you went quiet, shaking your heads. He jumped down to your ship, using whatever dumb things were on his shoes. Man, that was a wack outfit, for sure.
When he landed, he looked at you and Nami. “Wow, what a couple of lookers!” Heart eyes appeared and you blinked. “Well, they’re definitely related,” you mumbled, looking to Nami. She groaned, rolling her eyes. “Sanji! Do you have an antidote?”
The newcomer scoffed. “Why would I do something so nice for nothing in return? Aren’t you pirates? You could just try to pillage our ship for what you want?” He mused. “Or
” He looked towards Nami and you felt your skin crawl. “Absolutely not.” You stepped in front of her and he shrugged. “You work too.” He grinned. Ew.
“I’m knowledgeable with fish from the sea, we’ll just make our own antidote,” you said. Whether or not you could, you weren’t sure, but you were sure you could figure it out with the help of Chopper.
Suddenly, you saw a foot connecting with his head and you jumped back, but staying in front of your friends in a protective stance. You watched as Yonji went flying but a new face appeared. She had the same signature twirly brow as your friend. Just how many siblings did he have?
Reiju? The energy around her was much different to her brother. It was much more similar to Sanji. Softer, gentler. But there was something still off.
Pekoms started explaining that they were the Vinsmoke family. You thought it was familiar, but you couldn’t exactly place it. “Weren’t they the noble family that conquered the North Blue ages ago with their military prowess?” Brook asked.
Nami looked at you. “Y/n, aren’t you from the North Blue? Do you know about them?” You shook your head. “I’m from there, but my island was isolated so we had no contact from the outside world and they didn’t have contact with us. Not really, at least.” You frowned. “After the incident, I was taken to Mary Geoise.” You shook your head, so even if you had been there when they were, you wouldn’t have heard anything and you never exactly went back.
You heard someone mention a comic strip based on their family and then blinked. Hold on. You remembered Law mentioning he collected comic books and he’s also from the North Blue. No shot - there was no way. You’d have to ask him later.
“We’re still a royal family, but we’re not like that anymore. We don’t have land either, but we still have enough prowess to attend the reverie,” Reijou said. She was soft spoken and seemed so kind. A stark contrast from her annoying brother from before.
“Ah, then can I-” Brook began but you grabbed Luffy’s sandal so fast and chucked it at him full force, smacking right into his skull - literally. “Luffy still has another chancla and I’m not afraid to use it,” you warned. He backed off with his trademark laugh.
“Anyway, we still have an issue at hand,” you said, taking Luffy’s sandal back and bringing it back to him.
“Is this the poison of the armored fish? My favorite?” You widened your eyes and looked at Reijou before looking at Nami. “You hear that? It’s her favorite.” Nami just blinked the same as you with the same look on her face. Both of you were floored at her words. Does she just eat poison for fun? What kind of bat-shit insane-?
You watched as she knelt next to Luffy and you narrowed your eyes for a moment. Then she
kissed him? You went to stop her before Nami grabbed your arm. “Wait, look!” You watched with a grimace on your face, then you realized the poison rash was moving from Luffy to Reijou. You paused, watching in a mix of horror and awe.
It wasn’t long before she pulled off and the poison just
disappeared. “You
” You were at a loss for words. “Guess you weren’t lying when you said it was your favorite,” you mumbled, head reeling from the sheer absurdity of what you just witnessed.
“I’m Poison Pink!” She smiled, licking her lips. Ah, yes, because that made so much sense and just excused everything. You looked at Nami who just shrugged.
Luffy woke up with a gasp and you looked over at him, feeling relief flood your body. “Oh, thank the ocean,” you mumbled, putting a hand to your chest. “Sanji?” Luffy asked, looking at Reijou and you sighed. He really needed to work on his people skills but you let it slide since he was just inches from death.
“Not Sanji - his older sister,” you say.
“Sanji’s older sister?” Luffy looks at her in disbelief.
“I also wanted to thank you, for all that you’ve done for Sanji up until now,” she said with a soft, fond smile. “Wait, hold on! Give us back Sanji! He’s my friend!” Luffy protested.
“Luffy, I don’t think he’s with them.” You walked over to him, looking at the woman who was heading back to her ship. “You are correct. He’s probably with Big Mom or father. So, good luck!”
You watched as she sailed off with their enormous ship. Your head was still reeling. “What the hell just happened?”
Things went on as if nothing really happened. You took over cooking this time, not trusting Luffy again and none of you wanted to pay Nami to cook.

"Oi, has anyone seen Captain yet?"
Shachi looked up from his book, raising an eyebrow at Penguin. "He's probably squirreled away in the med bay again. Why are you looking for him, anyway?"
Penguin rolled his eyes like Shachi had asked a dumb question-- and, to be fair, he kind of had. Penguin knew everywhere Law liked to hide amongst the Polar Tang by heart, same as Shachi and Bepo; if Penguin was looking for Law, he'd have already checked his usual haunts before asking the rest of them.
"His mug is still in the cabinet."
Okay, that was a little weird. Lowering his book, Shachi glanced around the room to see if any of the other crew members still in the lounge might know something. "At this time of day?"
Penguin nodded and oh, that's not a good sign at all. It was practically unheard of for Law to not go running to the kitchen at the first hint of coffee being made in the morning-- unless he'd finally crashed, but that had happened last week, and with how bad that one had been Law still had plenty of time to fuck over his sleep schedule before the next one hit.
When the rest of their crewmates agreed that they hadn't seen Law yet that day, even though it was already well into morning and breakfast had come and gone, Shachi got to his feet.
"Bedroom?"
Penguin gave Shachi a wry smile. "The one place I dare not check without backup," He joked.
Shachi elbowed him in the side as he passed, teasing, "Don't be such a coward!"
Shachi knew better than anyone that only four of them were allowed in Law's room, aside from the man himself, and they didn't technically need anyone else to go inside with. But most of the time, it was easier to drag him out of whatever book-obsessed stasis he was stuck in with help, and so unless the others weren't up to it or someone felt confident they could handle it alone, they often buddied up when it came to getting Law out of his moods.
The two continued to banter the entire way to Law's quarters, though they grew quieter the closer they got-- it never hurt to be careful, and if Law was having a bad day or had in fact, by some miracle, fallen asleep, they didn't want to risk waking him or making it worse.
A quick game of rock, paper, scissors had Shachi opening the door, peeking his head inside the room with a whispered, "Law?"
He paused when he finally caught sight of his captain, a large grin forming as he took in the scene before him. He motioned to Penguin with his hand. "Peng, go grab camera! Hurry!"
Instead of doing what Shachi asked, however, Penguin simply leaned over him and stuck his head through the door as well.
He chuckled. "Ah, I thought someone else was missing from breakfast. Guess that mystery is solved."
"Yeah, yeah, they're being sickeningly cuddly as usual, now hurry up!!!" Shachi smacked Penguin's thigh, which earned him a playful scoff before Penguin was finally off, getting a camera as asked.
Shachi's attention snapped back to the scene on the bed as movement caught his eye. He froze, not even daring to breathe. 'Don't wake up, don't wake up, don't wake up--'
Law shifted, and Shachi tensed when he seemed like he was starting to sit up--
Only for Law to snuggle up even closer, his face hidden by Kit's hair as he buried himself further into Kit's neck. Kit's arm wrapped further around Law in response. Shachi inhaled sharply, chest quaking with the determination not to burst out laughing.
He was never, ever going to let Law forget this.
Now if only Penguin would hurry up with that camera.
(Now, if this were a more modern time where social media existed, this is what I would imagine happens next upon Shachi posting the picture.)
Shachi: and Law insists he doesn't like to cuddle lmao
Luffy: No fair, I wanna cuddle Torao!!!
Usopp: Did you sneak into his bedroom for that?!?! Dude he's gonna kill you!
Penguin: akshdjdjfjsk LAW IS GONNA FREAK WHEN HE WAKES UP
Ikkaku: Nice knowing ya, Shach. We'll toast in your honor at the funeral
Bepo: Captain looks so relaxed :D
Robin: good for them :)
Random Follower: Is that
Random Follower: Is that the lost prince of Valstasia he's cuddling
(Shachi, realizing he has Royally Messed Up, just responds to the first comment he sees saying Kit is the lost prince with ".......no." and RUNS
Cue the Hearts desperately trying to cover up the fact Kit is in fact said prince. Kit adjusts his makeup a tiiiinnnnnyyyy little bit and hides a few of his beauty marks to make them look less like a constellation. "Oh yeah, I know I've got a birthmark there but it's not the same kind, don't worry about it." Meanwhile Law is tearing into anyone who so much as dares to ask him directly.)

hello! I saw from your writings that you love doing angst.. so i have a request if you don't mind! But I don't know your "level" of angst tolerance so u can tell us later if u want!
So it's a scenario where Law falls for a s/o that's a strawhat, classic right?
But what if s/o has a devil fruit that makes it impossible to touch people cuz it sucks their energy or sum, it's very dangerous and so in her childhood she couldn't play with kids cuz they feared her, but she's at the same time a little goofy ball of energy and with a lovely personality?
Law at first (like always) didn't fall for the charms but after finishing Kaido and returning to the crews, he notices for the first time s/o's clothes and how she's all covered up wearing long kimonos with long sleeves (so that she doesn't accidentally hurt someone)
He feels a bit weird and dismisses the feeling as pity but it just makes him remember the amber disease and how he would hide the white spots sometimes when it was necessary and then he realizes again that s/o's case is worse than his cuz that's definitely not a disease and she can't remove her devil fruit... And also he 'Respectfully' thinks she's kinda cute tho (like Bepo a bit).
In his awkward ways he tries to make conversation with her about her DF but it comes of suspicious to the crew and he nearly gets cut off by Zoro the first time and Luffy in the second attempt, so he just does his 'research for SCIENTIFIC reasons' with the info he has, and in that period it takes like one to one and a half year (in wich he STUPIDLY feel in love even more with the strawhat) to realize that the more she uses her powers the less years she will live and... THAT just DEVASTATES him, cuz he read just some days ago that Luffy found the One Piece and actually became the King of the Pirates but also that two of his crew were in critical life or death condition and he immediately knew who: of course the right hand swordman and his strategist aka s/o.
But he searched for treatments to help her and actually found a very rare flower who's nectar is said to 'give life's and sprinted to the strawhats, but.. by the time they arrive the Thousand Sunny is silent like never before and they tell him s/o is dead and is not just the fact that he didn't even have the chance to express his feelings to her before it was too late it was that he couldn't save a person that never wanted anything in life but to genuinely smile and enjoy her time with her friends.
The only time he was genuinely interested and in love with someone voluntarily..
Sorry if there are any mistake or bad written sentences cuz English is not my first language lmao! I hope you understand the scenario! And Thank you so much if you're willing to write it! 💚
I'll be đŸ„ anon in case u have questions?
Have a wonderful day!!
hiiii  àŹȘ(àč‘‹᎗‹àč‘)àŹ“ ♡ it's finally done, i hope there's enough angst in here for you; i took a few liberties, and it got a little more morbid than i anticipated, but i had fun in the end 💕
2.5k words, fem reader, angst angst angst, cw: death, nothing gruesome but it does happen, there's alcohol at a certain point, also a plot twist dun dun dun. law's a coward and a dumbass & y/n needs to stop lying to herself
Tumblr media
lying became your profession after you turned three years old; no you didn’t make the neighbor’s child cry on purpose, yes you did push her but it was because she said you were a freak that deserved death, no you don’t want to reflect on your actions, yes you’d do it again. you oscillate between both extremes so much that it becomes difficult to tell the truth from fiction. it suits you just fine, life is much better when you don’t have to think about things like that.
you wear dishonesty like a shawl, draped over your shoulders protectively, as if you can’t bear to walk around without it. it’s your dishonesty that leads you to eat a strangely shaped fruit, propelling your childhood into something twisted and complicated; and it’s your dishonesty that gets ostracized from the other children in your village. you learn to mind your business, you take to playing alone, to talking to yourself, and are more or less quiet until provoked.
people learn fairly quickly not to make you angry.
it’s when you accidentally siphon your cousin’s energy by grabbing her tightly, fingers sinking into her thin arm, your palm warming, a deafening silence filling your ears, making it hard to concentrate on doing the right thing. you don’t understand what’s happening, but you know that you don’t want her to keep messing with you — so you hold onto her. you feel full somehow, like you desperately needed to do this, and now that you have
 you can’t stop.
when her skin pales, when her eyes lose their shine, when her breathing slows, a voice — faint, trembling, sobbing — makes its way through the silence and tells you to stop.
so you do.
your cousin spends weeks in the hospital recovering, and your parents are besides themselves trying to figure out how best to deal with you and your growing powers. after a few more incidents, your family packs up and moves to the countryside; away from most of the populace, in the hopes of keeping you away, as hiding you is their best option. you’ve always wondered if they loved you, and now you have your answer. it’s not love, it’s fear; they tiptoe around you, talk in whispers, lock their bedroom door at night.
because of this, you develop complex feelings about yourself — and about the world. it also leaves you vulnerable; all of the negative emotions that fester inside of you, like angry dark scribbles, blotting out any feelings of happiness, and you almost lose sight of everything, but another voice — a familiar, one, the one that told you to grab your cousin — reminds you that you’re stronger than you think, that you shouldn’t let the others dictate how you live your life. that you alone should come out on top, while everyone else is left behind in your shadow.
you don’t quite understand; your insomnia worsens over time, so you pour the remainder of your energy into reading, into learning more about the human body — about its limitations, about ethical and unethical medical practices; your parents do just about anything to keep you busy, so if it’s books you want, you get them. no questions asked. you mess around with various fabrics until you find one that’s thick, but breathable, and make a pair of gloves. they fit around your hands snugly, and you test them out, touching your parents’ hands and watching them for any changes.
when it seems like they’re still all in one piece, you’ve found a solution that might help you reintegrate into society. your parents feel it’s a little too soon, but they also know they can’t keep you locked away forever.
as time goes on, you learn to mask your true emotions, filter your personality so that you’re seen as approachable, amiable, safe. when you’re old enough, you work part-time at various medical clinics, before interning at the main hospital. your proclivity for retaining information and your insatiable curiosity works to your benefit, and you become a staff favorite.
it’s comical, really, almost as if they forgot that you’d been, essentially, chased out of town years prior.
however, as fate would have it, your body has other plans; you’ve been mindful, you limit your devil fruit use, you don’t get too close to anyone. somehow, you’ve convinced the world around you that it’s absolutely necessary for your arms and legs to be covered as well. even in the heat, you wear long sleeved outfits, hiding yourself more and more from outsiders, much to the chagrin of your parents. they don’t necessarily understand your reasoning and don’t press you for more details. it’s a defense mechanism of sorts that protects you from yourself, really.
it doesn’t prevent the voice from being the proverbial devil on your shoulders, instructing you to eliminate those who get in your way, growing much more rash and ruthless as the months go on. you ignore it as best as possible, chalk it up to not having socialized with other children your age while growing up, or perhaps fatigue, or both. you don’t imagine your delusions have gotten stronger, but sometimes they’re tangible enough to feel real.
and sometimes, on the really, really bad days, it’s almost as if your devil fruit takes flight, commanding your body, playing you beautifully, like the instrument that you are. one days like those, you try to keep away from others, feeling less and less like yourself, like a darkness has settled deep inside of you, ready to come out and suck in everything in its path.
it keeps you up at night, and it’s precisely the reason why you take luffy up on his offer, when he sees your powers in use. he’s the first person you come across that isn’t afraid of you; if anything, he sees it as a nonfactor, wanting you to join specifically because you fit in with his zany crew mates. you feel much more at ease, as if you can be yourself, like you don’t have to hide all the time — even though you’re not entirely honest with them, they don’t pester you over it. instead, they allow you to come to them in your own time.
the alliance with the heart pirates is a fruitful endeavor, as it puts you in law’s path. you find him absolutely fascinating, but his reticent persona makes it hard to get close. you know better than to push, so you leave him be. incidentally, it’s specifically because he cannot figure you out that he refuses to talk to you properly. bepo notices right away that his captain is captivated by you ïżœïżœïżœ by your uncanny ability to detect bullshit, by the fierce way you defend your friends, by the way you don’t seem to take life as seriously as you should.
he always seems to find himself surrounded by those types of people, so this shouldn’t come as a surprise to him, but it does. what he really wants to know, is why you insist on wearing gloves, on covering up your arms and legs; it would be rude of him to ask, but the way you’re careful not to stand too close to people, how you don’t really touch anyone, it makes him think there’s something deeper going on than you’re willing to admit. on one of luffy’s whims, you all throw an elaborate banquet, and it’s when you’re four drinks in that you babble on and on about the incident with your cousin and why you refuse to touch people out of fear of harming them.
there’s more to the story, he knows that; he can see it in the way you pause and consider your words, and in how you look away in order to avoid his scrutinizing gaze. when you leave in the middle of your conversation, law tries to follow after you but is stopped by zoro, who simply reminds law of his place. it’s not a threat, of course, he knows that, but the swordsman makes it abundantly clear that law is not to keep prying, no matter how much he wants to.
not one to be commanded, the pirate captain disregards zoro’s warning, and pursues you anyway. in time, he finds bits and pieces of the truth,  strings together theories, and comes to the conclusion that your recklessness, your reluctance to receive help from others, and your inability to open up is because of your past experiences with your devil fruit.
if anyone can understand the darkness that accompanies that level of trauma, it’s trafalgar law. for that reason, and that reason alone — at least, that’s what he tells himself — he finds himself tethered to you, unable to leave you alone, convincing himself that it must be out of an unexplainable morbid curiosity to understand you better. bepo says otherwise, but he ignores his friend, not wanting to listen and deal with the implications of possibly having romantic feelings.
what you did not tell law — what you haven’t told your friends, too — is that you already feel that you’re losing more of yourself every day. despite having a devil fruit that extracts energy from living creatures, the continuous use puts a strain on your body; and, because of the way your body has been on survival mode most of your life, it feeds on all of your anxious feelings, on the negativity that seems to surround you, and grows stronger. the voice gains a bite, has a vicious way of tempting you into removing your gloves and accidentally touching a stranger, just to do it.
you hate it so much you wish you could pull it out of you forever.
a memory is triggered and law searches through the various books in his library, until he finds one on obscure devil fruits; he finds the entry on yours — a short one at that — and frowns at the words. it barely gives him any clue as to why you’re not adapting to it, although the last line of text does strike him as odd. it makes mention of the user needing to want to use the energy, and since you reject every aspect of the fruit, your body can’t keep up. there’s no way to really neutralize those effects; it’s all mental, you see, but there’s no reason why he shouldn’t try to help you, right? because law is the sort to pour his all into whatever mission or project he works on, his crew indulges his selfish whims and assists him in locating a particularly rare flower, one that may help you.
in the interim, you find his letters comforting, and write back to him as much as you can. you tell him that he doesn’t have to keep searching, that you’ve made your peace with things. and he wants to tell you that it doesn’t have to be this way, that you can still live a long, fulfilling life — but that’s where you disagree. you know yourself; you know your bones, you know your soul, and you know that you’ve fought that voice for much too long to be able to keep living with it.
and after a year of searching, of experimenting, of diligently working to find a cure, he comes to find you. except, he’s too late.
the sunny is anchored on the coast of your favorite island; in your last moments, you make mention of wanting to be somewhere sunny, where the trees can provide endless shade, but where the warmth will always make you feel like you’re alive. because nami and robin are so apt at locating islands, they find one close by, and your smile is enough to break their hearts. while their time with you was short, you enjoyed it immensely.
law’s cowardice prevented him from talking to you properly, and when he arrives and he’s burdened with the truth, he’s left confused. you should be alive; you should be laughing as you normally do, you should be getting on his nerves with your outlandish ideas and your incessant talking. there are things he regrets in life, but this is at the top of the list. is it impudent of him to say that you look beautiful lying there, even in death? he doesn’t think so, but he keeps the thought to himself, resigned and ready to go.
but, before he can get off of the ship, he hears several gasps behind him, hears luffy shouting, hears usopp shrieking, which makes him turn around, confusion taking hold of him when he sees you sitting upright, stretching your arms over your head, yawning as if you’ve just woken from a long, long rest.
except, that’s not really true, is it?
he knows you’re dead, you have to be — but he also can’t discredit what he sees. you certainly move around as if you’re alive, although something feels off, raising the hairs on the back of his neck in alarm. everyone is wary, but you tilt your head at them, prying those silly gloves off of your hands slowly, a slow, sly smile growing on your face.
“you look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
that’s your voice, he’d know it anywhere. except, it isn’t. blinking several times, law is the one who asks the question that everyone is, surprisingly, too afraid to ask. “who are you?”
swiveling on your heels, hair whipping around your head wildly with your movements, you march up to him, grab onto his face with your bare hand, much to the shouts of the others behind you, and smirk.
“i’m death, don’t you know?”
his eyes narrow sharply, but you don’t let go of him, almost as if you’re proving a point. but what’s most astounding isn’t that you said that, it’s that he feels absolutely fine. your touch hasn’t affected him, and in turn you also seem just fine too.
“how?”
it’s the only other question he thinks to ask, but you just laugh and laugh, pat his cheek in a patronizingly sweet way, and move away from him. “that silly girl didn’t know how to use my power, so i took it from her completely.” before the others can voice their complaints, you hold a hand up, and roll your eyes. “easy, easy, she’s still here somewhere.” not that you care; it’s your turn to have fun. “i know how not to kill people,” you boast proudly, leaning against the railing, admiring the ocean as if it’s the first time you’re actually seeing it. “but, don’t think that you’ll be able to get rid of me easily.”
it’s the haunting look in your eyes that law recognizes, the one that says you’re ready to set the world on fire, to let chaos reign; he knows that look because it’s the same one he has. if he thought he liked you before, you intrigue him even more now. a savage, untameable beauty, one that chills him to the bone.
the question is, will you let him live, or will you take from him as you’ve already taken from others time and time again?

Hiiii sweetie I love your Law writings so much! Oh this sounds like your others are bad, no I didn't mean to say that! I'm sure your others are good too, I just didn't read them yet because I'm Law obsessed lately. Anyways, could I request something? It's actually my first time to request something so I hope I did it right??? I'm sorry if I didn't. Coming back to the request, could you do something like Law x reader (preferably female but gn would be okay too though so everyone can relate!) being kinda close to each other and always teasing each other (she is a Strawhat member) and he is deeply in love with her but his heart breaks seeing her hugging a guy of her crew? Like he knows she's a cutiepie and loves hugging her friends but he just gets so jealous seeing her with Zoro or whoever and his mood changes and he distances himself from her, leaving her all confused because he thinks it's impossible for her to like him when it's so much more likely and also practical to date someone of her crew. But then she asks him about him being so weird and cold lately and he kind of let's everything out and confesses? I'm so sorry if this is too long or complicated, ignore it if that's the case! Sending lots of love to you from Germany! <3
Oh my freaking goodness you’re so sweet! I’m glad you enjoy all of my Law writings as much as I love writing for him! Don’t even worry, you don’t have to read my other’s if you don’t want to, if it’s just Law you wanna read the go right ahead! :) GERMANY?! I have people reading my works in GERMANY?! It always baffles me when I get asks that say they’re from another country because I forget that not everyone is going to live near me. Thank you for all the love all the way from Germany! ❀
Warnings: None, other than some swearing here and there, not proofread in the slightest.
****Law x Strawhat!Reader
He hated it. There was nothing more that Law hated right now was seeing you draped over Zoro’s back while you watched something over his shoulder. He was stupid to think that you wouldn’t have a close relationship with them, of course you would. Law could only grit his teeth and endure it. It wasn’t like the two of you were in a relationship, he couldn’t tell you to stop.
Law actually could think of something he hated more. It was the fact that Zoro didn’t seem to mind, not in the slightest. It was like this was a daily occurrence for him and it was something he was used to. Part of him wanted to see the marimo push you off and act annoyed. But something told him that even then, you wouldn’t care and would simply do it again.
“Hey Law! Come look at what Usopp made-!” you slid off of Zoro’s back and turned around with a smile, hoping to see the other swordsman you had seen just a moment ago. Your sweet smile turned into a frown, then a pout when you realized he wasn’t there anymore. ‘Where did he go?’ You thought to yourself as you looked around the deck.
You knew that the other captain was a bit more reclusive than you’d like since you enjoyed being around him and it never seemed like he wanted to be around the rest of the crew-probably because most of the crew was so boisturious and loud and Law was, well...the opposite of boisturious and loud.
It didn’t take you long to find him. “You left us!” you say to him, playfully feigning like you were upset as you crossed your arms. “How rude!”
“And for a reason.” he simply responded back, not even looking at you while he did.
“Sorry, were we being too loud?” you chuckled and smiled. “You’re gonna have to get used to that on this ship while you’re here with us.”
Am I going to have to get used to seeing you all over your crew as well? Law kept his thoughts to himself while he opted not to give you another response.
“Um...I’ll just
” you pointed back to Zoro and the others, leaving him to be by himself since that’s what you thought he wanted. It was the opposite. He wanted to be around you, but he just couldn’t stand seeing you so close to them as well. As much as he wished that was him, he’d never say it aloud.
It was something that you had been noticing the past few days. The two of you got along great when you were on Punk Hazard together, so what was different now? You felt more comfortable since you were on your own ship and maybe that was it. There weren't any battles happening and everyone was quite lax...so shouldn’t it be the opposite? Shouldn’t he be more relaxed now that he knew he was safe? Or was that even it? You weren’t sure.
It took you a few days to finally approach him about it. You noticed that every time you he was around you and then when you went over to your crew mates, he’d be gone before you even turned back around.
The crew was inside eating and Law had finished first, opting to go outside in the quiet after he was done. You soon followed after you were done and left the loud dining room to find him. It wasn’t difficult since there was only a limited area outside on the deck.
“Don’t like how loud it is in there?” you chuckled as you walked up to the railing next to him. “I’m not sure how long you’ll stay with us, but you get used to it, you actually tend to enjoy it after a while and when it’s quiet, you feel a little weird.”
“I don’t think I’ll be getting used to Mugiwara-ya anytime soon and I don’t know how you deal with
” Luffy’s loud shriek was heard in the distance and Law’s face scrunched up, “that.”
You only laugh at the other captain, “I take it your crew isn’t like this then?”
He rolled his eyes and almost cringed at the thought. “No. They are. I just choose to ignore it most of the time.”
“And does that work?”
He answered almost immediately, “Never.”
You laughed again and Law felt like his breath almost caught in his throat. It was something he would be able to listen to over and over again and never get sick of-unlike your captain.
“I wanted to ask you something too
” your fingers tapped the railing and traced the design of the wood. “Are you okay? Or did I do something wrong? I thought we were getting along really well and lately it feels like you’ve been more distant for some reason. I just...I like talking to you and I thought you did too. We’ll be in the middle of a conversation and I’ll turn to talk to someone and then when I turn back to talk to you again, you’re gone. But maybe I just misinterpreted it and you didn’t want to talk to me in the first place.” you let out an almost pitiful sounding laugh, along with a sad smile.
Fuck...That wasn’t the reason in the slightest and he hated that he made you think that it was your fault he was just a little jealous of your crew mates that you live with.
“No.. that’s not it
” he sighed to himself, feeling guilty that he had made you feel that way. He was fighting with himself internally. Do I say something to them or not? He knew that there wouldn’t be much of a relationship since the two of you were on separate crews. Pair that with the fact that he doesn’t even know if he’ll survive this attack on Doflamingo.
Law wouldn’t want to get your hopes up about anything if you felt the same way about him. At the same time, this could possibly be one of his only chances to tell you how he felt. All he could think about was embarrassing himself. From the first time he saw you on Sabaody, he knew that there was something about you because of the way you never left his mind since then.
It was a stroke of luck that you managed to see him again on Punk Hazard. Since you were relatively new to the crew at that time, you still hadn’t bonded with anyone in particular so he never saw you acting like you do now with them.
You raised your brow in an attempt to get him to continue with what he was trying to say. “Then what is it?” you ask him slowly. “If you don’t want to say anything, that’s fine I guess. As long as I’m not doing anything to make you mad or hate me.”
“I’m not mad at you. I don’t hate you either.” he paused for a moment, gritting his teeth together. Law couldn’t believe that he was even doing this to himself. “Quite the opposite actually
”
Your brow raised again in slight confusion. “Oh?” you hesitated, the thought registering in your head about what he meant. You knew he wasn’t exactly the person who would let his feelings gush out. A small smile slipped out and you tried your best not to smirk.. “Ooh~ I see.” you drug your words out slowly.
As Law went to open his mouth, whether to object to what you were saying-even though he wasn’t-or let you know that you were right, he didn’t get to say anything before your Captain burst onto the deck.
“Y/N-chaaan!!! Come play with us!!” and you couldn’t even object or tell Luffy that you would be there in a minute when a long arm stretched out to grab you. It wrapped around your waist and you before it was able to yank you away from Law, you grabbed the collar of his shirt and planted your lips firmly on his.
“I’m glad you don’t hate me~” you grin as you pull away, not because you want to but because you’re being forced away by Luffy.
Law could feel his cheeks heat up from the sudden kiss and all he wanted to do was grab his hat and pull it over his face. But then he would’ve missed seeing your smile as you notice just how flustered you made him. He wouldn’t mind being a little embarrassed if he gets to see your smile every time.

------------
Monster Trio + Law with a S/O who has problems in sleeping bcs of nightmares Headcanons
------------
Tumblr media
Luffy:
You were both setting on the deck, and the sun just went down
Luffy decided to have dinner on the deck today and who could say no
you were waiting for food sitting on the bench alone
Bcs your headache is killing you
Its has been a week at least since you could properly sleep
Nightmares haunted your sleep and scared the hell out of you every freaking single night
Luffy is currently running here and there along with Chopper and Usopp
He suddenly stopped running when he noticed you dozing off until you fully slept in your position
He smiled and thought that you were super tired to fall sleep before eating its a big deal for this boy
So he came to carry you to bed
When you snapped out infront of him tears streaming from your eyes and he was literally starled
"Luffy...*sniff*...Luffy please help me" as you cried
Everyone else with Luffy were now looking at you with worried faces
Luffy's expressions changed 180°
He pulled you into a hug and rubbed you back as you cried in his embrace
Then he asked you about who he needs to beat, but you told him about the lack of sleep and your nightmares fear
He holded your hands tightly and ressured you that he will beat each person intervene your sleep
He asked Sanji to give you his huge piece of meat bcs if you're hungry, you'd get nightmares you know what does it even mean that luffy gave you his meat?!
He showered you with kisses throughout the night and you wouldn't believe it
He really appeared in your nightmares and defeated all of these scary things for you.
Tumblr media
Zoro:
So today Zoro was in charge of watching Sunny go
He was working out in the crow's nest and taking peeks from the window to make sure everything is safe and good down there
That's when he noticed coming out of the girls room Literally staggering
He wonderd what happened to you, he can't see you clearly from up there
Your legs suddenly gave making you fall on the grass
And this when he knew that there is something off with you
He immediately came down with a face full of concern
You were just sitting there, expressionless as the tears slid over your cheeks
He never saw you like this before, yes he did see you crying lots of times but this was different
He leand to you and raised your chin to face his face gently
But before he could ask you about what's wrong, you spoke first
"Zoro...I'm scared...I can't sleep I-"
He placed his lips on yours but he never closed his eyes, and so were you
He carried you to the crow's nest
And made you lie down on his lap
He gently caressed your hair strands pushing them off your face
"I won't let even a nightmare fear you out as long as I'm alive"
His aura brought internal peace to you, you don't know what he did, its wasn't sth unsual but all you that you never slept like that for while now.
Tumblr media
Sanji:
Sanji have noticed that you're not comfortable in you sleep many times
Tho you both are asleep snuggled into each other.
But you know his sleep was light, so any strange feeling or unfamiliar sound makes him widely awake
He've noticed thoes dark circles under your eyes and he thought of talking about it with you
He thought that maybe you stayed late at night getting your personal work done
He doesn't know that you're too afraid to sleep bcs of your nightmares
And honestly you didn't want to bother him talking about it
In fact your nightmares weren't easily forgettable, they were scary and kept running in your head for days making you unable to sleep
So that night you went to sleep together
You kept convincing yourself to try closing your eyes, and you will be able to sleep
Tho your warm boyfriend is right next to, but as soon as you slightly drift to sleep, these nightmares attacks
And soon you would abruptly get up inhaling and exhaling looking all sweaty
So you decided to stay awake, yes you're not going to sleep, you're now too afraid to sleep
You went to the kitchen and made some coffee, ofc to keep you awake throughout the night
As Sanji was shifting in his sleep his eyes slightly opened and noticed that you're not next to him
So he comes out searching for you and saw that the kitchen light was open
He came and found you drinking your 4rth cup of coffee and oh god that's alot of caffeine
He immediately pulled the coffee out of your hands and then you started crying asking him to give it back
He was taken back at your sudden cry, but he knew that definitely there is sth wrong
He crouched infront of you and pulled you to his chest as he kisses your forehead
He waitied for you to speak out and you did
" Sanji...am I being selfish asking for one night of a peaceful sleep?!! Please tell me what did I do to deserve this" and you sobbed
" You did nothing wrong sweetheart, its just a bad dream, come on lets go inside I will protect you even in your dreams" he said as he gave you a soft peek on your lips
Ever since that night, Sanji wouldn't sleep until you did
He sing you some lullabies or even talks to you with his soothing vocie until you eventually slept wrapped in his arms
Nightmares never came back again
Tumblr media
Law:
He always slept after you
Bcs he has that habit of reading random books before going to sleep
Of course he would pull you to his chest and strokes your hair as he reads
You'd pretend to sleep but actually you can't
You never told him that you're haunted by your own nightmares that unables you from sleeping
Every night you'd pretend that you're asleep until Law closes his book, kisses your forehead and then sleeps next to you
You made sure that he slept deeply to slip out of his warm arms without him noticing you,
You'd go and sit in the corner of your shared bedroom, head buried in your knees
You sobbed silently every night, you were tired, you just wanted to sleep peacefully but you were too scared to do so
Everytime your eyes shuts, your fear begins and you hated that
Soon Law noticed your empty spot next to him
He slightly opened his eyes and heared your soft sobs, and got panicked
He sat immediately to find you in that fatal position, and ran to you
He hugged you, then cupped your cheeks wiping off the tears with his thumbs
" (Y/N)-ya dear... What's wrong, why are crying" he asked
You hugged him back tightening your grip on his pijamas and explained everything between your sobs
He carried you to the bed and asked you to trust him and think of him as you sleep as he wrapped his arms around you making sure you felt safe
Later, he made a special psychological therapy sessions for you in order to help you get rid of the bad thoughts and nightmares. And it worked

Stars and Dreams
Tumblr media
Anonymous requested: Hello!!! (ω) Can I request one-shot soulmate au and (magic au? Idk if you name that. 😅) Law x fem! S/O? Okay it's more like a legend. If a person meet another person (in form of a star) in their dreams they're are soulmates together. Law sees her, her appearance is form of a star but he can hear her voice clear and well. Same opposite for fem! S/O. The timeline is somewhere in Punk Hazard. And she's by the strawhats crew. When she meets Law she thinks "hey! His voice is sounds familiar." She has often dream it if she sleeps. She has also heard the legend of soulmates. If they touch each other. Then both in their body shines a bright light. Like magic. And if they sleep again. Then she sees not the star form but person Law standing before her. That's it. I hope it's not to difficult. 😅 And take your time all you need.
Alright! The first request of the year! I saved it from last year because I am beaming with confidence (and I am such a sucker for fluff and soulmates alkdafs) FLDSA I don’t think this classifies as a magic au but I sure as heck am putting that down because stars??? They are freaking magical fluff to me. This was so fun to do so thank you for requesting it!
Trafalgar Law x Female Reader
Warnings: Fluff- tooth-rotting fluff, Slight angst that is fixed with more fluff, probably grammar like always- Technical spoilers for Punk Hazard but I try to be as vague as possible and skip to the end of it.
Words: 1746
-
You loved going to sleep. You loved it so much and the whole crew knows why- You are one of the lucky few who has been blessed to have a soulmate. Some would consider it not lucky at all since it is so uncommon and more like a legend- But you love it so much.
You love the idea of solely being someone’s and them solely being yours.
The first time you had this dream was roughly when you were twenty. The shock that this legend of seeing your soulmate in the form of a star was beyond shocking to you. He was too bright of a light as a star, and you wondered if you appeared that way to him- If you were just as bright and mysterious to him.  Even so, you loved to stare into the light of the star. Even if you could not see his physical form you knew immediately that you loved him. The second you heard his voice too- You melted. He was perfect in every way even if you have yet to learn more about him.
The part that saddened you was even though you could talk to him in your dream- You were not really talking to him. It was only a dream so whatever information his voice gave you, was all in your head. You had no true way of knowing who he is, what he liked, his name, where he was from, absolutely nothing. It made you a bit heartbroken because this was the sad part- You were destined to be together but the only thing you had to go off from was the sound of his voice.
So, it was around six years ago long before you joined the Straw Hats that the dreams started. The dreams were vague and very rare to happen at first until you did join the Straw Hats two years ago.
They got more constant and you loved to fall asleep and dream away to hear his voice. You tried to memorize it for when you were awake in the real world on islands. To try and pinpoint his voice but it was in vain.
Slowly- Ever so slowly, you began to accept the fact that you may never meet him. It broke your heart, but you began to accept it while you and the Straw Hats were split up, and eventually, it just hurt to go to sleep and dream of someone meant to be yours, but you may never have. You started to avoid sleeping.
~*~
For Law- Things were different.
When he first got the dream at age twenty, he denied it. He thought that soulmates were just strictly legends- Something not real. Until that dream and because of how much it made him feel- Alive and surprised that he may be able to love someone and receive their love in return, it frankly scared him.
He avoided sleep whenever he could- He avoided the fact that he has a soulmate.
He did not want one- He did not want to risk losing the person meant for him since he just kept losing people when he was younger.
It terrifies him and he hates it.
He will be stubborn for the next six years but eventually as the dreams got more frequent and he had no choice but to hear your sweet voice- He started to fall and hard.
It pissed him off greatly but since he slowly started to give in and felt the overwhelming love drift to him in his sleep from your star, he
Started to love to sleep when he can. He enjoyed it so much. To hear your sweet feminine voice call for him- Even if it may just be his mind doing that for you he loved it nonetheless.
Though- He did realize he could not let his dreams, his soulmate, ruin his plans for Doflamingo. He tried to keep a strict schedule and since he knew the possibility of dying was there- He tried to sleep and hear your voice so it can be one last comfort he has before the possibility of the next day taking his life comes.
He pursued his plan- Got to Punk Hazard, waited for someone he put his bid on to get there- Monkey D. Luffy to create an alliance with him. What he did not anticipate was to hear that familiar voice coming from his crew.
It became unreal to him and he did think he was going a bit crazy- But
According to the legends, all he had to do was touch you then after this terrible mission he can sleep, and hopefully- He will find out if you really are his soulmate or if this was all just a terrible dream leading him on and making him believe he can be loved in this unforgiving world.
~*~
You were exhausted. And really grumpy. Those two things did not match well, and it made your brain foggy- Definitely not a good thing when you got to Punk Hazard. An island that seemed to be swarming with enemies.
It was cold and you were miserable- Then you heard an annoying voice trying to make an alliance with your captain- Wait, you know that voice.
You couldn’t place it, but you were fairly certain it may have been from your dream. That is your initial thought until Robin informs you that they all met him back Sabaody Archipelago- Trafalgar Law. You do not recall- You remember a polar bear but that is it.
While everyone was fighting you had gotten lost with Zoro and the poor fool got split up with you and you were looking all over for him so you can’t really remember much. It is a shame since that mostly means you met him- Maybe you think it was his voice because of how loopy you are. You should really sleep after all this.
It becomes a hassle to keep up with everyone, but you are used to being exhausted now and days. The others do keep an eye on you when you become a bit dazed, they help you a lot.
Eventually- All the chaos your crew, Law, and the marines ensue on the island comes to an end- Law has Caesar successfully tied down for the next part of the plan he wants you guys to help him with- Going to Dressrosa.
But for now- Everyone, including the marines, is enjoying dinner together after that long and hectic journey of bringing Punk Hazard’s facility to an end. You wait patiently for your food- Waiting for everyone else to get their fill- Even arguing with Sanji and Chopper (who has been concerned about your health) that you can wait.
You sit down and feel the exhaustion creep up on you and nearly smother you then and there but then- You feel a hand on your shoulder and a warm bowl of stew being offered to you.
You look up to see it is Law who has his eyes narrowed down at you.
“You should listen to your doctor more. He informed me about your sleeping habits, and it isn’t good to be low on energy so you should eat up,” He states rather coldly.
You do not take it to heart. You smile and thank him.
“I appreciate the worry now that we will be working together. Oh- I suppose we still do not know each other well from Sabaody. I am (Name),” You say softly.
He narrows his eyes down but replies, “Trafalgar Law
Unfortunately, (Name) we did not have the pleasure of meeting at Sabaody. I would have remembered but it is wonderful to finally meet you now.  You should rest up.”
He leaves before you can process what he said. You are shocked- Because if you truly did not meet him but just his crewmember
Then that means you may not be that loopy. That the voice you fell in love with but have been avoiding is really his.
You hate to say it but
You feel the need to fall asleep. You hate the feeling of hope just in case you are wrong.
~*~
Law is excited. He touched your shoulder, thankfully not like a creep, but as a genuinely concerned doctor. Now he just needs to wait to see if the star will turn to you tonight- He hopes it does but the part of him that does not want to risk losing anyone ever again also hopes it doesn’t.
They sleep there that night deciding to rest up before going on the move to Dressrosa- And like always he is excited to go to sleep, to hear her voice.
Sleep came fast and easy for him- He welcomes the bliss of a clear mind and how he lands in a meadow-like area surrounded by stars- The main star being his soulmate’s form. He waits with anticipation and slowly the star does begin to transform. He can’t help the blush on his face or how he feels the sudden happiness that it is true.
The star turns into your physical form.
He finally found his soulmate.
~*~
Upon waking up- You feel heated. You feel a total sense of comfort and you feel better. That was one of the most peaceful nights of sleep you got since you avoided sleeping and- It was worth falling asleep. You could cry tears of joy from seeing the star turn into Law.
But now that you are awake and you know who your soulmate is- How do you go about it? Do you even assume he had the same thing happen to him?
You are suddenly anxious as the smell of food wakes you up further. That means people will be gathering for breakfast and you all are off to Dressrosa afterward. That means you get to see Law- You feel even more anxious.
However, you do not get the time you needed to compose yourself.
Instead, you hear a knock on the girl’s door- Nami and Robin long awake and letting you sleep since you haven’t lately, and you feel your nerves light on fire as you open the door to see Law standing there.
You notice the blush on his face and the gentle look in his eyes. He decides to address the issue first. You can hear the happiness in his voice.
“So- We are soulmates.”
You smile back.
“Yeah- I guess we are.”

Welcome to the Heart Pirates, Nami-ya chapter 19: Lying Hearts
“How can anyone stand to live in a city like this?” Nami grumbled as the light glinted off of yet another painfully white building. True, the setting sun had lessened the glare slightly, but after an entire afternoon of it, she was developing quite the headache, even with the sunglasses.
Law shrugged and continued walking at a leisurely pace, still unaffected. “I’m sure if you’re born somewhere like this it’s easier, but people can learn to tolerate almost anything given enough time, I suppose.”
“Do you think you’d be able to learn to tolerate bread?”
“I said almost. I’d sooner die of starvation.”
She shook her head with a chuckle but kept pace, following his lead. Instead of heading straight back to the submarine, Law had insisted on a few detours through Atifakuto—partially in case anyone had grown suspicious and decided to follow them, but also to scope out potential escape routes under the guise of sightseeing. Nami, for her part, had been exceedingly helpful in this, mapping out in her head which stairways lead where and pointing out various places to hide. If Law found her compliance suspicious, he didn’t say anything; it was in their best interest to work together, especially with some potentially valuable goods on the line, so her behavior was easily rationalized.
For her, however, there was more than artifacts or even belli at stake. This heist had to go well. She needed Law to trust her enough to open up about why he was so obsessed with Amber Lead. Perhaps if he could do that, she wouldn’t even have to sneak into his quarters to take a look at the ledgers. She could just ask and he’d let her in like a rational human being.
Of course, in order for either of their plans to succeed they needed to know where the vase was. Luckily, the rest of the Hearts hadn’t been sitting idle on the submarine. They’d been investigating every possible gallery, art collector, museum, and auction house their prize could possibly be at. The second they had a lead, they’d call on the mini Den Den Mushi.
Until then, though, Law and Nami were forced to meander about the city, planning and killing time.
“So, while we wait for some intel, what else are you going to buy me?” she asked as they wandered the fourth level. They’d passed quite a few shops, and while most had stocked dull business suits similar to the last store, Nami felt her bags were tragically light. They were in a beautiful-if-blinding city, and she was walking away with only one outfit? What a travesty.
Snorting dismissively, Law glanced down at her with a clear look of are you kidding me? on his face. “Nothing. I told you I was only getting you one outfit. I’m your captain, not your sugar daddy.”
“You know, for a man who wants this little job to go well, you’re not putting in nearly the effort you should,” she quipped, a sly smile on her lips, eyelashes fluttering prettily. “I’m supposed to look professional and put together if I’m gonna pull off being your lovely assistant. That means I need matching shoes and accessories. Maybe a cute leather purse or briefcase to really sell it.”
“If you want those so badly then buy them yourself. Or,” he smirked, halting his pace to turn around and catch her chin between his fingers, tilting her head up towards him as he stepped in close enough so she could feel his body heat, “you earn them by doing certain favors for daddy.”
Her cheeks only pinkened a little at his innuendos while she stuck out her tongue and shoved him away. Last night’s dream wasn’t quite as close to the forefront of her mind anymore, but that didn’t mean his smirk didn’t do things to her she’d rather ignore. “Pass. You should know by now that it takes more than clothes for me to play nice.”
“Mmm, I do. That’s what makes it so much fun,” he purred, gold eyes glinting in wicked amusement. One gloved hand was shoved into his pocket while his free arm slung itself casually over her shoulder as he continued stalking along the fastidiously clean road. “But since you’re currently insisting on being a strong, independent woman who doesn’t need a man to provide for her, you can instead borrow some shoes from Ikkaku, and she might still have a pair of glasses or something from the time she pretended to be a receptionist at a Naval base.”
Brown eyes widened at his statement. Not because he was suggesting that she borrow clothes or anything, but the bombshell he’d just casually dropped in light of her recent discovery.
“Was this for one of your plans?” she asked, shoulders stiffening.
He shrugged like it was no big deal, though he did give her a curious glance at the way she tensed beneath him. “Yeah. We needed someone on the inside, and they’d put out an advertisement for an attractive female in her early twenties. It’s not like Uni or Penguin could do it.”
“But
holy shit, Law, are you serious?” she hissed, dragging him over to an unoccupied part of the street behind a solitary gated tree so she could scold him in private. There weren’t too many people about, but the last thing they need was to get unwanted attention because they’d caused a scene, even if Law totally deserved to get chewed out at the top of her lungs for being such an asshole. “Ikkaku has Marine brothers who want her dead and you sent her into the lion’s den? What the fuck?!”
Caught off-guard by her anger, Law’s eyebrows shot up briefly before furrowing. “She told you about them?”
Damn. In her shock and anger on her friend’s behalf, she’d forgotten that this was a subject she wasn’t technically supposed to know. But instead of admitting guilt, she doubled down and threw on her best poker face.
“Yeah. She told me,” she lied easily. Too easily. It came as naturally as it had back in the days she’d been working under Arlong, getting close to pirates by lying through her teeth and then robbing them blind. How many crews and captains had she deceived before Luffy? Nami had honestly lost count, but once she’d joined up with the Straw Hats, lying to a supposed ally hadn’t been quite as instinctual.
But this isn’t Luffy, and Law’s keeping way more secrets than I am, she rationalized. It’s just a little white lie anyway. He’d be way more pissed at Shachi and Penguin for telling me. I’m looking after those guys.
Law’s expression hardened, and for a moment she wondered if he’d seen through her bluff. She didn’t think she’d gotten too rusty in the lying department, but Law was smart and distrusting in general, so she couldn’t quite tell. Trepidation hung heavy in the air as she waited for him to speak, mind going a mile a minute coming up with new lies and explanations to appease him. Worse came to worst, she could throw the guys under the bus, even if she didn’t really want to, but they were his best friends, so Law would doubtlessly be more forgiving towards them, right?
Thankfully, it seemed his anger came from a completely different place, as he snarled quietly through clenched teeth, “Nami-ya, I am, as you have pointed out rather frequently in the past, a control freak. Do you really think I would devise a plan that required sending my top mechanic into a Marine base if there was even a chance she could be recognized? Especially by her utter shit of a brother?”
She flinched at the vitriol in his voice. It seemed she’d touched a nerve, and unless she wanted to lose all the progress she’d worked for, she knew it was best to back down. “Sorry. You’re right.”
“I’ll accept your apology if you tell me what prompted her to tell you,” he stated, crossing his arms. “It’s not information she makes widely known, even to those who are permanent members of my crew.”
Well. At least this was easy enough to justify, and she’d be doing both Law and Ikkaku a favor, right? Sure, the guys would obviously tell him later, but being the first to warn him might earn her a few more crumbs of trust. “There was an article in the paper about Marine reinforcements coming to the Grand Line. Ushi was interviewed. He seemed pretty intent on taking down the Heart Pirates.”
Law froze, his frown deepening into a dark sneer. The tic in his jaw and the way his fists clenched reminded her of his reaction to Ikkaku having been attacked on Grimm. “That fucker will stay away from Ikkaku if he’s got any brains in him.”
“You’re pretty protective of her,” she said. Sure, he’d perhaps phrased his defense in a way that implied his priority was the plan, it was clear from the hiss in his voice that Ikkaku’s safety had been genuinely considered.
The brim of his hat hid his eyes as he stated, “I’m protective of all my crew. She’s just
it’s hard to find submarine engineers, let alone ones as skilled as her. Ikkaku’s hard to replace.”
Well that stinks to high heaven of bullshit, she thought. Sure, the Surgeon of Death had a rightly-earned cruel reputation, but he’d shown time and again his crew meant a lot to him. Stepping in close, she used her finger to lift his hat enough to see his expression unobstructed. “Is that why you let her sass you? Because if she walked you’d be dead in the water?”
The gold orbs glared down at her, though the held no heat. “Everyone on the crew is a vital component. Like gears in a well-oiled machine. You’ve gotta take care of them to make sure they don’t break.”
When Nami merely raised a disbelieving eyebrow, he sighed, body deflating slightly. “Look, Nami-ya, everyone on my crew, we’ve all got shit in our pasts. Some have overcome it. Some still carry the scars. Ikkaku
hers is one of the few that’s actively still trying to get her. So yeah, maybe I’m a bit more protective, but it’s for a damn good reason.”
Ok, now that was a fair point. “I’m surprised you haven’t just killed him.”
“Oh, I want to,” he snarled. “No brother should try to hurt their siblings. They’re supposed to look after them. The only reason Ushi-ya still draws breath is because Ikkaku begged me to spare his pathetic life.”
It suddenly dawned on Nami that, despite his criticizing Luffy for not being more bloodthirsty, Law was
surprisingly merciful in his own ways, too. He didn’t murder Ikkaku’s brother, despite having clear reason to, just because she asked. He rescued Jean Bart from a life of slavery despite not knowing him. And while she didn’t fully understand the Ope Ope no Mi’s powers, she wondered if his cuts didn’t draw blood because he didn’t want them to?
She wasn’t sure if he had a complexity addiction or if he genuinely wanted to minimize bloodshed, but once again another side of the incredibly fascinating man had been revealed.
Taking a deep breath to calm his anger, he gave Nami a sadistic smile. “Doesn’t mean I let him off the hook with a sternly-worded warning, though. Wanna know what I did to him the last time we met?”
Nami turned a bit green as she remembered Jinzo’s still-beating heart in his hands. Complex and caring towards his crew or not, he was still a twisted bastard. “Fuck no!”
Briefly he pouted at not getting to regale her with the gory details before shrugging. “Pity. It was quite the eventful evening. In fact, it was also the night of mine and Drake-ya’s first kiss.”
“How the hell are those two things connected?!”
“Well, I had to distract him somehow. He was guarding my poor mechanic like a dragon would a virtuous princess.”
Before she could demand more details, or even snort at the idea of Ikkaku being virtuous, the sound of the mini Den Den Mushi reached their ears, interrupting the conversation.
Looking around to make sure there weren’t any eavesdroppers, Law pulled out the little snail phone and clicked down on the top. “Guessing you’ve got something for me?”
“I do,” the snail answered, and Nami recognized the faint accent that indicated they were speaking to Cousteau. “Only one place that specializes in North Blue history. Jubilee & Atlas Antiques. It’s an auction house and gallery on the fifth level, a block away from the Elevate Deliverer Restoration Church.”
“Well that’s a needlessly long name,” he quipped, rolling his eyes. Mentally, Nami had to agree, though it also sounded vaguely familiar. “At least that makes it easier to find. Anything else I should know? Other landmarks, nearby guard stations, that sort of thing?”
There was a moment of hesitation before Cousteau replied, “No station, though there would probably be at least a few guards wandering around at night. It’s, uh, right by a fountain. Blessings from the White City.”
Nami’s eyes widened a little. Oh. Now she remembered. That had been the church with the huge stained-glass windows. The one in her book, by the tribute to Flevance.
“
I see.”
The little snail chewed its lip, clearly concerned. “Captain, if you want, I can do all the surveillance—”
“It’s fine,” he cut in, tone sharp before smoothing out, “I saw it earlier. In fact, I’m glad it’s so close. Nami-ya and I will check out the gallery. We’re nearby and I’d rather see it with my own eyes to get the lay of the land. Unless anyone else has a better lead, you and the others can head back to the ship.”
“Understood, sir. Anything else you need?” he asked, sounding relieved.
“Just tell Clione I might have a job for him later on, so don’t make any evening plans.”
“Aye-aye, Captain.”
The call ended, and Nami peered up at Law, expecting signs of the same darkness that had crossed his face when they’d visited the fountain earlier. Instead, his face was totally blank, staring down at the tiny snail, expressionless.
Somehow, that was far, far more unnerving.
“Law?” she asked, touching his arm hesitantly.
As if awoken from a trance he shook his head before smirking down at her. “Well, hope you don’t mind one last detour before heading back to the ship? I know it’s more stairs but look on the bright side; at this rate, the definition of your calf muscles will be a thing of beauty.”
He didn’t wait for her to respond, turning on his heels and heading towards the direction of the stairs to the next level. Frowning, she began to doubt whether or not this was all a good idea. She didn’t know exactly what his deal was, but she really felt like he was too close to this. But she had the feeling trying to talk him out of it would be an exercise in futility, and would set her back far more than any lie she might spin.
Oh well, she sighed internally, jogging to catch up, so long as he doesn’t do anything stupid. He’s sensible enough to keep a cool head, no matter what his problem is. It’ll be fine.
While it wasn’t far, it took longer than either of them would have expected to actually find Jubilee & Atlas Antiques. Mainly because it was a surprisingly nondescript building compared to the opulent churches and museums nearby. Honestly, based on the exterior, one could easily have passed it by. Like everything else the building was pristinely white, the windows boasting small arches over them and flower boxes containing white impatiens. Really, the most impressive thing about it was the marble plaque out front boasting the company’s name in gold leaf.
But the two pirates didn’t really care about the appearance; it was what was inside that counted. That, and the information board out front, which stated in bold, black letters that there would be a showing and auction of North Blue artworks at 8pm that evening.
“Why don’t you just Scan the place, grab the vase, and walk away? Seems like that would be easy compared to putting on this charade?” Nami asked, eyeing the building. It was hardly Harpin’s mansion; it would take almost no effort for Law to use his powers to steal every item of value inside it, replacing artifacts, paintings, and money with pebbles and potted plants with a mere flick of his fingers, then teleporting them away to safety.
Really, if he weren’t such an ass, Trafalgar Law would be a thief’s dream partner.
Of course, he was an ass, so he gave her a look that implied he considered her question to be phenomenally stupid. “Because there’s no guarantee that the vase is even in there—for all I know it’s being kept in a secondary location until the actual event for security or health reasons. It is a relic from a city that suffered a notorious death toll both before and after the World Government had quarantined it,” he explained lowly. “On top of that, my Room would draw too much attention, so if it’s not in there, we’ll have blown our whole cover and probably the operation.”
Though disappointed that they couldn’t just whisk it away with his powers, she conceded that he had a point. Versatile and useful as they were, the Ope Ope no Mi’s abilities did have their drawbacks. Actually infiltrating the auction house was a safer move.
Yet for a moment, she saw Law glare at the building, as if he were equally frustrated that they couldn’t just grab their prize and go. Perhaps even a great mastermind like him sometimes wished to take the direct path. “At least we can be sure it’ll be presented at this auction,” he reassured, almost as much to himself as her as his hand rested on Nami’s lower back while he escorted her away. “Makes it easier to come up with a plan and contingencies when I actually know the target. My crew did good.”
She twirled a strand of hair around her finger in thought. She supposed he was right, and the pride in his voice when he mentioned the Hearts’ contribution
well, she knew better than to argue with that. Seemed the lesson he learned on the last island was sticking. “Still too bad we don’t have blueprints like Harpin’s house, though.”
“It can’t be helped. That was a job I’d been planning for months. This is more
spontaneous. Why? Scared and looking to back out?” he asked, glancing down at her with a challenging grin.
Nami scoffed. She was a thief that specialized in robbing pirates. Sure, she was a scaredy-cat, but when treasure of some kind was at stake, there were few risks she wouldn’t take. “Not a chance. Just pointing out that we’re going in more blind than last time.”
“Maybe, but at least our prize will be out in the open and not in the home of a former Marine with tentacles. Hell, we might even get it legally.”
“Law,” she started, brow furrowing. She wasn’t scared, but she did have a reasonable concern, especially with how intent he seemed on this one item. “What are we going to do if we don’t win the vase?”
The pair stopped by the Flevance fountain, Law taking a long moment to stare solemnly at the beautiful white angels. Without a word he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small coin, pressing it to his lips before flipping it into the water.
When he turned back to her, his gold eyes were as hard as the statues’ and twice as cold.
“Simple; we take it from whoever did.”
XXX
Hidden in a small cove on an unpopulated section of Atifakuto’s coast, the sight of the Polar Tang’s sunny yellow hull was a welcome relief after a whole day of the city’s stark white walls. Law seemed to agree as his tense posture relaxed into a comfortable slouch, even giving a few of the guys a small grin when they called out to them. To Nami, of course, the submarine was still far from the Sunny and thus would never be home, but she couldn’t help but smile at Law’s reaction. The Dark Doctor really did have some softness deep down.
Of course, that didn’t last long, as the moment they were within the safety of the cargo bay he was once more all business. “Dinner is in an hour. Rest up, brush up on your notes, do whatever you need to prepare for the auction tonight; I’ve got a few more dominoes to put in place,” Law stated. He’d been silent for most of the walk back, though Nami attributed that to him mentally filing through all the information they now had and formulating his plan. Much as she missed and loved Luffy, having a captain who didn’t just go rushing in like an idiot was a nice change of pace.
That didn’t mean she appreciated his tone, though. “Say please,” she quipped, hip jutting out. She might have decided to be more compliant for the sake of gaining his trust, but that didn’t mean she was going to let him boss her around.
Besides, if she were too accommodating, he’d probably grow suspicious and then she’d be right back at square one.
He scowled but apparently decided it would be a waste of time to argue. They were on a tight schedule, after all, so her attitude would have to be tolerated. For now. “Please,” he grumbled before marching off, beckoning Clione to follow him. The biologist glanced between the two, bewildered, but smartly said nothing before chasing after his captain.
Flashing a self-satisfied grin at Law’s retreating back, Nami practically skipped to her quarters. Even though they weren’t as prepared as she’d like, so far, things were going well. Perhaps they couldn’t just use Law’s powers to swipe the vase, but by obtaining it through legal means, they wouldn’t have the authorities after them, which would be nice. Besides, it wasn’t her money that would be spent at the auction.
Her research of the North Blue had taught her a few things, including just how valuable things from Flevance were. After all, things made from the white ore had been in high-demand during the city’s heyday; now that it was in ruins, any remaining artifacts would surely triple in price. And, admittedly, if that fountain had been anything to go by, the vase could very well be extremely beautiful. Something any art collector or historian might want for themselves.
Once more, she wondered why the hell Law wanted it. He collected coins, not art, so she doubted it would be something he wanted just for the heck of it. What was his obsession with Flevance—
That train of thought was derailed when Nami walked into her room. She blinked then rubbed her eyes, certain her vision was still messed up from the sun, because Ikkaku was still sitting at her desk, working on some little device, practically in the same position as that morning. Really, the only difference was the lack of towel around her head, though her curly hair was a tangled bird’s nest.
“Have you even moved today?” Nami exclaimed loudly, flabbergasted.
The mechanic jumped a few inches out of her chair, a pen cartwheeling through the air before falling back onto the surface of the desk with a clatter. Apparently since she’d had the room to herself, she hadn’t felt the need to put the earplugs back in, leaving her vulnerable to Nami’s loud voice. “Damn, girl, you scared me,” Ikkaku said with a breathy laugh. She glanced around, noticing the time on the clock and the fact that her hair had dried completely. “Guess I was in the zone.”
“You haven’t been working all day, have you?” Nami asked, plopping her shopping bag on her bed. “At least tell me you had lunch.”
“Sounding an awful lot like Law there,” she teased, pushing away from her desk to stretch. There was an audible pop from her back, and her dark eyes closed in relief. “Like me, too. The boys and I are always bugging a certain workaholic captain to eat something and not subsist solely on coffee and aspirin. But to answer your question, yes, I did have lunch.” She pointed at an empty plate that had been shoved into the far corner of the desk, a few grains of rice stuck to the surface. “Bepo brought me some onigiri.”
“Good. If you didn’t, I’d be dragging you into the galley and force-feeding you a sandwich, then charging you a cooking and inconvenience fee.”
Snorting, Ikkaku cracked her knuckles and rolled her shoulders, further releasing the tension sitting hunched over in one spot for hours had built up. “Dinner’s soon enough; even if I hadn’t eaten, I could have waited. And good luck making a sandwich with no bread on board.” Despite her dismissal tone, though, she gave a wry grin. “But thanks for caring, I guess, even if it does come with a price tag.”
“What are friends for?” Nami shrugged with a smile that was a little forced. It was such an alien feeling, this sudden awkwardness. Since first arriving on the Tang, she and Ikkaku had gotten on like a house on fire. It was almost inevitable, being the two women on the ship surrounded by men dealing with that insanity together. Hell, even if that hadn’t been the case, Ikkaku had practically sacrificed herself for her back at the club on Grimm. A companion like that was more than she’d even dared to dream of before she’d met Luffy.
Was it really right for Nami to act like she didn’t know about her brother? Should she just tell her that the guys told her about Ushi? Really, what was the point of keeping it a secret? It wasn’t that Nami thought she’d slip up and spill the beans—lying was her specialty, after all—but Ikkaku wasn’t some mark or stranger. She was her friend.
Hell, even if they were on opposite crews, she’d even dare to call her nakama.
The issue resolved itself, however, when the other woman’s expression turned a little melancholy. Ikkaku sighed as she rested her cheek on her fist, her other hand idly playing with the pen. “Heh. Funny, I used to ask myself that question a lot when I was younger. I didn’t really have friends back on my home island. I lived with my Gramps in a lighthouse, so besides the occasional trip to town, it was a pretty isolated life.”
“What about your brothers?” Nami asked, masking her interest by taking her purchases out of the bag so they wouldn’t wrinkle before the auction. A swell of relief surged through her. If Ikkaku talked about Ushi herself, the whole charade of pretending not to know about him wouldn’t even be necessary! She just had to carefully press for the right crumbs of information, maybe even offer up a couple tidbits about her own life in exchange. No big deal. Tit for tat, right? “Nojiko was my best friend growing up. Hell, probably my only friend until Luffy came along.”
A dark look crossed Ikkaku’s face. “Yeah, well, Nojiko on her worst day was probably a way better sibling than all of them combined.”
“I don’t think you’ve talked about them much. I basically just know that they exist and said you wouldn’t really make it as an engineer because you’re a girl.”
A long sigh escaped her lips. “That’s
the nice version. Didn’t want to unload my shitty childhood on you, especially since yours sounded worse. I mean, my island was never taken over by pirates, and I didn’t work for the guy who murdered my mom.”
Well, that was certainly true, but then again, people with healthy, normal childhoods seldom became pirates. Or at least, those that did rarely lasted long on such cutthroat seas. Nami should have realized there was more to the mechanic’s past than some run-of-the-mill misogyny. “Maybe, but I don’t mind. We’ve all gone through some rough shit, right? We wouldn’t be in this line of work otherwise.”
“True. I just
I guess I just like to pretend he doesn’t exist most of the time.”
“He?” she asked as if she didn’t already know.
Ikkaku’s calloused hand dropped the pen to instead clench into a tight fist, and there was a haunted look in her dark eyes as she stared off into space. “Ushi. He’s the oldest. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t afraid of him. Spent our childhood making our other brothers use me as a punching bag. When he wasn’t doing that, he gave me almost hourly reminders that I was a burden on the family, that no one really loved me, that I’d never amount to anything.” There was a hitch in her breath and a pause, and Nami noticed her close her eyes tightly for a moment. As if she were fighting back tears. It was a look she’d never expected to see on the tough, vibrant woman’s face. “Then, when I was seven, he tried to kill me.”
“What?!” Nami exclaimed, dropping her blazer to the floor in shock.
“Yeah. Joras had a huge fucking forest, and he led me into it to look for mushrooms or some shit. Can’t remember. Next thing I know, he’s shoved me into a pit, and by the time I’d climbed out, he was long gone and it was night. I think
I think it was supposed to be my grave, ‘cause it was really fucking deep. Or at least it seemed that way. Maybe I’m misremembering.”
Somehow, Nami doubted that. Sure, memories could get warped with age and fear, but some details remained solid for the rest of a person’s life. “But, you got out, right? And I’m sure your parents must have been worried sick!” She could almost picture it. A young Ikkaku, sticks and leaves caught in her messy curls, knees and elbows scraped, face covered in dirt and tears, frightened but once more able to smile when she was finally found, her mother and father scooping her into their arms, scolding her for worrying them but just so relieved she was safe

At least, that’s what Bellemere or Mister Genzo would have done if Nami had gone missing.
From the bitter laugh that escaped her throat, Ikkaku hadn’t been so fortunate. “I spent three days wandering around those fucking woods, scared and cold and wondering if I was gonna die out there. My parents didn’t even notice I was gone.” After a long moment of silence, her fist unclenched and some of the tension eased out of her shoulders. “Gramps found me, though. When I didn’t come home after two days and a storm rolled in, my brothers Nausagi and Fukuro ran two miles to the lighthouse to tell him what Ushi had done. Maybe they realized he’d gone too far. Or they were scared I’d come back as a vengeful zombie. Either way, Gramps rescued me and demanded custody. Mama and Pops were glad to hand me over. One less mouth to feed, and I wouldn’t be causing their Future Marine Hero any more trouble.”
“That’s
that’s horrible.” And yet Nami could tell she was getting the abridged version of the story. “Tell me your grandfather was a better guardian.”
Despite the childhood trauma she’d just confessed to, Ikkaku merely shrugged, a small grin tugging at the corner of her lips. “Yeah. He was. Gramps was crazy, but he loved me and taught me how to fight. Told me to never lose my smile, ‘cause that’s my best protection against a world that’ll try to break me.”
“Bellemere said something similar to me and Nojiko. ‘Whatever happens, never lose your ability to laugh. If you can survive, happy times, lots of ‘em, will come your way’.”
“Smart lady.” She tried to casually run her fingers through her hair, only to find them caught in the tangled knots. She let out a light chuckle at her predicament and added, “I think she and Gramps would have gotten along pretty well. Well, assuming she liked salty former smugglers who had the gumption to threaten Law with a shot gun. Not that he didn’t deserve it a little.”
Nami had to smile at that, and she could only imagine what he’d said that had nearly gotten him shot. It was definitely something snarky, a shit-eating grin on his face while he provoked a protective grandfather just because he could.
Noticing Ikkaku’s hair situation, she abandoned her suit to instead pick up a wide-toothed comb. “Well, I’m not sure about Bellmere, but I’d certainly love to meet him.”
“Of course you would.” Leaning back in the chair, she allowed Nami to carefully put her thick curls to rights. “How was shopping? Boss show you the blinding sights of the city?”
“It was
enlightening,” she said cautiously. There was still so much to sort out, and every time she thought she had an answer to one of her questions, four more popped up in its place.
Grabbing the pen she’d been playing with earlier, Ikkaku handed it to her over her shoulder. “Here; I made you something, since I doubt you’ll be able to bring your Clima-Tact with you. Kinda why I was so focused—I wanted it to be ready by tonight.”
Curious, Nami inspected the item. It was a plain black ballpoint pen maybe a bit longer than her hand. There was an almost unnoticeable jolly roger engraved into the middle, and she ran her thumb over it idly. “You spent the whole afternoon making me a pen? I could have just as easily brought my stylus.”
“Oh, but a stylus is only good for writing. This is so much more useful. ‘The pen is mightier than the sword’, right? Click the top.”
She did so, and instead of an ink-filled nub, a small syringe, similar to an epi-pen, popped out. Her eyes widened in realization as Ikkaku explained, “Inside’s a powerful tranquilizer. Should knock any fool out in minutes if injected into the bloodstream. Takes longer if it’s ingested. It’s non-lethal to humans, so it should be safe to use on anyone you’re looking to knock out. Assuming they aren’t really Fishmen in disguise.”
“Why? Does it react differently for them?”
She grimaced. “Yeah. Severe allergic reaction. Anaphylactic shock typically. So, unless you want that on your conscience, humans only.”
Tucking the pen away for later, Nami nodded in understanding and went back to combing her hair. “Gotcha. Doubt it’ll be a problem, though. Jean Bart said this place is pretty humans-only.”
“Doesn’t mean it’s impossible for someone to have that kind of bloodline. If it’s diluted through a few generations, a lot of the time you can hide it and pass for human.”
“Hmmm, hadn’t thought of that.”
There was a moment where Nami could tell she was mulling something over. Even faced away from her, Ikkaku wasn’t hard to read, and it was only a matter of time before she voiced whatever question was on her mind.
While she waited, the ginger took the time to appreciate the texture of Ikkaku’s hair, combing out each curl individually so it wouldn’t frizz. The thick, black locks were coarser than her own, yet surprisingly soft despite her hard life at sea. Hair maintenance was extremely difficult living on the ocean, the salt and fluctuating weather of the Grand Line wreaking havoc on Nami’s much finer strands. And while Ikkaku was far more feminine than one would expect upon first meeting her, in the time they’d roomed together, she didn’t seem to put much more extensive care into her shiny locks than some leave-in conditioner.
Guess she’s just got some good genetics, Nami thought appreciatively. Either that or she’s hiding some amazing shampoo formula, and damn if she is I’ll never forgive her!
When Ikkaku at last broke her silence, the hesitation in her voice was palpable. “Hey, it was a Fishman who held you prisoner all those years, right? You ever
blame all Fishmen for what he did?”
It was an unexpected question, but a fair one, Nami supposed. Arlong had committed a crime so heinous she knew she’d never forgive him, and she knew there were plenty of people, especially ones who spent years abused by such a monster, who would project that hatred onto an entire race. But why even ask?
“I
not really. I mean, I can’t say I never lumped them all together in my head, since Arlong and his crew were my only baseline for Fishmen for a long time.” She bit her lip, thinking. “But that was when I was a kid. My view of things was a lot more black-and-white, mostly because I was bitter at my situation. As I got older, and the more I thought about it, the more I realized that it was stupid to think all Fishmen were like him. He was the one who hurt me, so he’s the only one who should get my hate.”
“So, you don’t hate them all?”
She shook her head. “Nah. Hell, I was even able to forgive a member of his crew. I’m sure you heard about how Luffy punched a Celestial Dragon?”
Ikkaku craned her neck up to look at her, dark eyes widening in shocked understanding. “Yeah? You saying the Fishman he defended—”
“One of Arlong’s crew. Hatchi. Like all of them, he hurt me too, but it was on his captain’s orders, and he clearly regretted it.” Well, it had been a bit more complex than that. Hell, when they’d first encountered him again, she’d nearly gone back on her promise to Camie to rescue him. Even if he hadn’t abused her like the others, he’d still been complacent in it. Still destroyed villagers homes, held her hostage, attacked the Navy ships that tried to come to the rescue. He hadn’t been blameless in the least. She would have had every right to demand that he be left to be killed or enslaved. That it was karma come to bite him in the ass.
Yet what had swayed her, apart from Camie’s determination to save him, was her own friends’ reactions to seeing him again. Those who knew her past had immediately been ready to turn the ship around and leave Hatchi to his fate. Of course she’d expected Sanji to be her knight in shining armor and want nothing to do with someone who had abused a lady, even by proxy. Zoro and Usopp had been a bit more surprising, though perhaps it shouldn’t have been. They knew what she’d been put through. Had fought and bled for her. Despite their sometimes heated disagreements, Nami knew she could count on them to always have her back.
The one who shocked her the most was Luffy. He might have flip-flopped between reason and his stomach, but the fact was, her loving, forgiving captain had actually held a grudge on her behalf. Hatchi and Arlong hadn’t done anything to him personally, but his nakama had suffered, and that wasn’t something he’d easily set aside. That genuine show of solidarity and loyalty to her had melted what ice had still been around her heart, which allowed her to truly forgive the octopus Fishman.
Yes, Hatchi had hurt her, but her hatred was solely reserved for Arlong, not his underlings who genuinely felt remorse.
“I’m not a saint or anything but hating Hatchi
it seemed pointless. He wasn’t the one who killed my mother. And blaming all Fishmen for the actions of one seemed pretty shitty. Doesn’t mean I wouldn’t kill Arlong if I had the chance, though.”
Nami could practically feel the tension drain from Ikkaku’s shoulders, and she couldn’t hide her smile before she looked away. “That’s good to know. That asshole deserves it, from what you’ve told me. He and my brother should meet, then get sacrificed to some kind of horrible sea monster. Plenty of hungry Sea Kings out there to feed.”
“Couldn’t happen to a nicer pair of guys,” Nami giggled as she ran the comb through the last strand of hair. “Though, that might be cruel to the Sea King. Poor thing deserves a better meal than shit like them.”
“True. We’ll just have to think of something else then. We can ask Law; he’s always got great suggestions.”
A shudder ran down her spine, though she had to admit, it wasn’t as horrified as she’d like. She justified it with the fact that Arlong was scum who deserved whatever painful death the likes of Law might propose. So did Ushi, from the sounds of things. Though, Law had said Ikkaku had begged him not to kill her brother. Why? Did she still care about Ushi due to their familial ties? Or was there something else?
Maybe she just doesn’t want her brother’s death on her conscience, Nami thought, putting the comb away and proceeding to raid the closet for shoes. I just hope that doesn’t come back to bite her someday.
XXX
Dinner on the Tang was certainly livelier and noisier than breakfast. Mainly because the crew didn’t have to walk on eggshells while waiting for Law to get his caffeine hit. Most of the time about a dozen different conversations could be heard, utensils clattered against plates, insults were tossed about, and laughter filled the air. But at the moment, the whole galley was silent save for Nami, who was telling the Heart Pirates—save for a few who’d been sent out on last-minute errands—all about her crew’s wild adventure on Skypiea.
“
so, after Luffy beat the crap out of him, Enel flew off to the moon in his gold airship, and we escaped the island with the help of an octopus balloon, our ship loaded with treasure!”
There was a pregnant pause as the Hearts stared at her in a mix of awe and disbelief. She’d had their undivided attention ever since Law announced that the Straw Hats had found Noland’s lost city of gold, all but demanding she tell the tale and not skimp on the details.
Naturally, those details made the story even more bizarre, practically unbelievable, but she gave them what they asked for, so they couldn’t complain. Even Law’s jaw had dropped once or twice in incredulity. Mostly at the part where Luffy’d been eaten by a giant snake and thus been hidden from Enel’s senses.
Finally, a few of the crew managed to find their voices.
“An orangutan nearly wrecked your ship with singing?” Shachi asked, face utterly baffled.
Penguin grabbed his hat and smacked him over the head with it. “That’s what you’re stuck on? That’s from way back in the beginning of the story!”
The ginger punched him in the shoulder in retaliation, which quickly devolved into a childish slap fight. “Well it’s weird, ok?”
“Weirder than Straw Hat punching Kami or the knock-up stream business or the ship that flew to the moon?”
“Yeah! You ever met an orangutan that could sing?!”
“No, but that’s not the point!”
“You met Monte Blac Cricket?” Ermine interrupted, eyes so wide the whites could be seen even under the rim of their hat, though their mouth quickly split into a smile. “Holy shit, I’d wondered what had happened to him!”
“Wasn’t he your friend or something?” Seiuchi asked through a mouth full of rice.
They shook their head, looking a little wistful, a faint blush rising to their cheeks. “Just a neighbor. The people of Lvneel were dicks to his family and anyone who associated with them didn’t get treated much better. But I always thought there had to be some truth to Noland’s story.”
“Because a city of gold is so fantastical it’s gotta be real?” Nami asked, amused. She’d half-expected everyone to laugh at her like the people on Jaya when she’d asked about Sky Island—she’d even glossed over that part, finding no reason to recap such a blow to her pride. Yet instead, they’d been respectful, even entranced by her tale. It seemed to help that she’d been able to fill in a few blanks with what she remembered from Noland’s ledger, thus adding credibility to the man himself instead of just imagining the lying fool the king’s slander had reduced him to.
Usopp would probably love these guys, she thought fondly. Not that they’d likely believe his fantastical lies, but they’d probably at least let him spin his yarns to his heart’s content.
“Because you don’t tell a king about a city of gold unless you’ve got something to show for it,” Uni interjected wisely, ladling some more curry onto her plate. He paused to smile at her with his eyes, the bottom half of his face still distinctly covered by his bandana despite it being dinnertime. This close, Nami couldn’t help but try to subtly look for signs of scarring, and in fact could spot a line of slightly-paler skin peeking out just over the edge. “That, and history’s rarely all that accurate. Full of lies and twisted to suit a certain narrative.”
“That’s the World Government way. I’m sure we’ll see plenty of it tonight,” Law stated, leaning back in his chair as he munched on some onigiri. The bulge in his cheek might have been comical, but the glint in his eye was humorless. “Can’t wait to hear the dumbass assumptions people make about us Northerners.”
Murmurs of agreement echoed throughout the room, though an angry tic formed on Nami’s forehead.
“Are you saying the stuff you had me study is going to be a load of crap?” she demanded, pointing her finger accusingly. Of course she knew history was skewed at best, but she’d spent days cramming! Had weird sexual dreams about him because of it!
Yes she was blaming the book for that and no one could stop her.
He shrugged and took another bite of rice, unbothered by her irritation. “It’s the information you’ll need to be able to regurgitate if anyone asks you about the North.”
“Yeah,” Penguin chimed in, nodding sagely. He and Shachi had finally been pulled apart by Jean Bart and had resumed eating like nothing had happened. “These people aren’t interested in the truth. They just want to feel superior to the ‘uneducated masses’.”
“Buncha pretentious pricks,” Shachi sniggered, balancing a spoon on his upper lip. “Bet they’d have a fucking fit if they found out El Dorodo’s not only real, but in the fucking sky!”
“I mean, can’t say I’d blame them,” Jude grumbled, playing a bit with his food like a grumpy child. “I figured we’d be the ones to find it, but this whole time we’ve been sailing around in a submarine for nothing!”
“You got something to say about my ship?” Ikkaku snapped, glaring at her crewmate. Behind her, Crozier, Cousteau, and Ermine made slashing motions across their throats, silently reminding him that disparaging the Polar Tang in any way in front of its chief engineer was a sure death sentence.
Before he could say anything, Uni thwapped him on the forehead with the spoon, apparently taking just as much offense. “How can you say it’s been for nothing—we’ve found tons of cool shit down here! May not have been El Dorado, but there have been some amazing sunken cities. And fish! We’ve discovered more aquatic animals than any other ocean explorer,” he pointed out excitedly, Cousteau nodding in agreement. “I mean, we’ve seen deep-sea fish not recorded in any book! Extracted hallucinogenic venom from puffer fish! Taken samples of bioluminescent plankton! We’ve seen octopi punch fish!”
“You ever figure out why they do that?” Shachi asked, cocking his head.
“Best I can figure? Spite.”
As weird as this little tangent was, Nami found herself giggling a bit at how excited Uni was. She didn’t know him too well, given how he was one of the quieter, more reserved members of the crew, but it was endearing to see him so animated and giddy as he discussed marine life.
“Plus, it’s cool to study navigational currents and everything, and underwater topography. The maps I can make from that kind of intel are really good,” Bepo added, twiddling his claws a bit beside her.
“Right! And if that’s still not enough to convince you, who needs a city of gold when you can get your hands on more sunken treasure than most pirates see in their lifetimes?” Uni asked, puffing out his chest.
She couldn’t help it—Nami’s eyes lit up with belli signs at the thought of how many sunken ships the submarine probably came across, all that gold theirs for the taking. Most treasure was basically lost once it hit the bottom of the ocean, but the Hearts’ ship and diving equipment turned the ocean floor into their personal piggy bank.
It seemed Jude had the same thought. “You’re right, you’re right,” he conceded, rubbing the back of his neck. “Sorry, it’s a great ship, and we’ve definitely found more than a city’s worth of loot—and yes the fish are cool Uni put the spoon away—but it’s still annoying to find out that we’ve been searching the wrong place this whole time.”
“Eh, happens to every pirate crew,” Jean Bart said, sipping his drink. “You find a treasure map only to discover the gold’s already dug up. Same with legends of lost cities. The fact that the Straw Hats actually found El Dorado and came away with a profit just means they’ve got the Devil’s luck on their side.”
“Or the favor of some god. Probably not that Enel guy, though,” Shachi said with a smirk. “And hopefully nothing from Joras, either.”
There was a murmur of agreement among the crew at that, though Ikkaku looked more uncomfortable than amused. Nami wasn’t the only one to catch that, though, as Uni reproachfully smacked the side of his head with the spoon.
“Dude. Don’t joke about the eldritch horror gods, yeah?”
“Sorry,” the ginger said, blushing slightly as he wiped away the curry splattered across his face.
“Eldritch horror gods?” Nami asked, recoiling at the thought. What the fuck?! Joras sounded vaguely familiar and given the context she guessed it had to be someplace in the North Blue, but she sure as hell didn’t recall reading anything about that! Was this something related to Northern culture, or were the guys just fucking with her?
“Nothing to worry your pretty little head over, Nami-ya,” Law stated with a smirk, though she didn’t miss the glare he sent Shachi’s way. “We’ve been sailing under the ocean for over five years and I’ve yet to see a sleeping god who can turn you mad with terror.”
“No, just an underwater ruin or two that talks about him,” Ikkaku muttered, picking at her food.
Underwater ruins with tales of sleeping gods? Sounds like something Robin would be interested in, Nami thought, nervous sweat running down her neck. Not that she’d be able to blame her. Sure, the archeologist was macabre as hell, but Nami could appreciate her thirst for knowledge, creepy or not. Who knew what history and cultures had been lost to the seas? Maybe there were even Poneglyphs down at the bottom of the ocean!
Damn. Robin and Law would probably get along great. She wasn’t sure if she was frightened or comforted by this thought.
Uni seemed to notice her unease and patted her shoulder. “We’ve seen some strange stuff down there, but nothing more dangerous than Sea Kings. Which, I mean, aren’t exactly friendly guppies, but they’ll leave us be. The Tang’s Seastone coating and electrical defenses ensure that.”
Though she still found the whole concept horrifying, she was appreciated how hard Uni was trying to keep the peace and not make things needlessly frightening for her. The whole crew had a morbid sense of humor, but while she’d mostly adapted, she still found this whole conversation creepy. It made her feel a little guilty for wanting to pry into his business. Yeah, it was annoying to know the crew was hiding stuff from her, but Uni deserved a little privacy, right?
“Yeah, and if there were anything more, Uni’s fish buddies would warn us ahead of time!” Malamute added.
“Fish buddies?” Nami asked, eyebrows lifting to her hairline in surprise. So much for respecting his privacy. “Wait, can you talk to fish?”
The man in question stiffened beside her. “I, uh, I can understand fish a little,” he said, looking nervous. His large hands twisted the napkin in his lap, and he refused to look at her. “It’s a Haki thing.”
“Haki can do that?” she asked, surprised.
“Observation Haki can do a lot of things, and Uni’s the best at it on the ship,” Law cut in harshly, glare brokering no argument. “It’s a skill that’s saved our asses plenty of times.”
Nami blanched at his defensive tone. “Hey, I’ll take your word for it, but you don’t have to act like I insulted his mother or something.”
“It’s ok, Law,” Uni said, shrugging a bit, though his face seemed to sink a little further into his bandana. “I know she didn’t mean anything by it. It’s a fair question, and it is a weird talent.”
“It’s not weird. It’s fucking useful as hell and I won’t hear anyone belittling my crew.”
“I’d never belittle him—” Nami snapped, starting to stand up to give Law a piece of her mind before Bepo’s heavy paws fell on her shoulders, gently but firmly keeping her seated.
“I’m sorry,” he apologized softly. “Law doesn’t mean you. It’s just
the last person outside the crew that found out, he was extremely cruel about it. Beat Uni to a pulp and even threatened to sell him as a freak show attraction before Captain found them.”
“Oh my god,” she replied, anger cooling quickly as she covered her mouth in horror, imagining Uni bruised and bloody on the ground at the hands of some bastard. Well, that would sure as hell explain why Law had taken such offense. If such a thing had happened to Chopper because he could speak to animals, she’d likely be just as pissed. From the scowls on the rest of the Hearts’ faces, the whole crew felt similar. Her gaze flicked to the fuming captain. “I’m guessing he ended up on your operating table?”
“I wish,” he growled, gold eyes glinting in fury as he crossed his arms. “Marines showed up before I could cut out his heart. Must have been his lucky day, but luck won’t be enough to save him if I ever run into Hyena-ya again.”
“Hyena?” she asked, the name not ringing any bells.
“Bellamy the Hyena,” Bepo explained, snout wrinkling in distaste. “He’s also from the North.”
Oh. My. God, Nami thought, wondering if the world was really so small. “You said Bellamy, right? Blonde hair? Spring powers? Asshole with a stupid grin?”
Law cocked an eyebrow in mild surprise. “Seems you’ve encountered him before.”
She ground her teeth as she remembered the way he’d mocked Luffy’s dreams in the bar. “Yeah. On Jaya. His crew laughed at me for asking about Sky Island and his first mate tried to buy me. Later he stole Cricket’s gold, so Luffy went after him. I didn’t see the fight but given what an ass that guy was
yeah, Luffy wiped that stupid smile off his face.”
Once more the room fell silent, but quickly broke out into thunderous applause.
“Hah! I would have paid good money to see that!” Ikkaku laughed, spirits lifted.
“If he hurt Cricket, I’m glad he got the beating he deserved,” Ermine said with a grin.
Uni smiled, the corners of his eyes crinkling happily. “When you see Straw Hat again, shake his hand for me! That guy’s a dick.”
Even Law was put in a better mood, though there was still a malicious edge to his smirk. “Good on Mugiwara-ya. Still wouldn’t mind doing some permanent damage to the fucker myself, though. Bad enough he insulted my crew, but that bastard should pick his idols more carefully.”
Nami’s brow furrowed at that. His idols? The hell did that mean?
She didn’t have time to vocalizing that question, though. Sweat ran down her neck when said smirk then took a more lecherous edge as he rested his chin on his fist, eyes glinting with mischief. “But Sarquiss-ya tried to buy you? I might have prioritize kicking his ass, then. I’m the only one who gets to be your sugar daddy.”
“Oh shut up! You didn’t even buy me new shoes!”
“You got her a suit but no shoes? For shame, Boss,” Ikkaku giggled, getting up to help Seiuchi and Jude clear the tables. “I thought you were supposed to be a ladies’ man.”
“I’m a cruel bastard who doesn’t do something for nothing. She can borrow yours.”
Sauntering over, she playfully poked him in the forehead. “Says who?”
Law snorted and childishly poked her right back. “Me. Your captain. The guy who pays your salary.”
“You pay me to keep the submarine running and sass you when you’re being an idiot.”
“I don’t pay you for that.”
“Mmmm, you’re right; that’s a service I provide for free.”
“If I didn’t know better, I’d say those two were siblings,” Nami chuckled under her breath.
“Right? When I was first recruited I was convinced they were secretly related,” Uni agreed.
Bepo gave them both a smile and said quietly, “I think it’s good for them. Especially Law. I think he secretly likes having a little sister again.”
Brown eyes widened at that little tidbit. Law had a sister? What happened to her? Bepo had stated the past tense, so there was either some kind of falling out or

oh no, she thought, turning to watch Law continue to bicker good-naturedly with Ikkaku, his expression annoyed but the glimmer in his eyes belying that he was enjoying himself. Another piece of the puzzle that was the Surgeon of Death had fallen into her lap, but it wasn’t a particularly happy one. Sure, people died or were killed all the time, but Nami couldn’t imagine what she’d be like if she’d lost Nojiko. And depending on how young they’d been or how she’d died, that could really fuck with a guy.
“Nami-ya.”
Her attention was yanked from her musing as Law called her name. He was on his feet, plate clean and smirk dangerous as he regarded her. Nami wondered whether this would be the last time she’d see him in a genuinely good mood for the rest of the evening. “It’s seven o’clock. Time to get ready to watch history be defiled by pretentious morons. And for your obnoxious thunder god’s sake, make sure you’re wearing shoes you can actually run in.”

After leaving the control room, Law followed the echoing cacophony of the fully collected Straw Hat crew through the halls of the lab. Smoker trailed behind him, tension on the acrid air surrounding him. The moment Law had realized what he’d let the vice admiral hear about his past, he’d debated whether to let Smoker return to the Marines with that information. But the feeling of Vergo’s heartbeat stopping in his hand was still fresh in his mind, and he didn’t particularly feel like ending yet another life today after everything that had happened.
If the other man tried to talk to him about it, though
Well, Law couldn’t make any promises then.
As he walked, Law considered his situation. With Vergo dead, the main source of the rumor of Law’s disloyalty was gone. Law had the dead man’s Den Den Mushi in his pocket, and even if he had recorded Law’s words, Law would simply destroy the recording. For a brief moment, Law considered ending his partnership with the Straw Hats since he’d taken care of his main target, but he dismissed the idea almost as soon as it crossed his mind. Law could pretend he’d never seen Vergo on Punk Hazard, but Doflamingo would hear of Vergo’s death eventually, and, considering the cause of death, there would be no mistaking who had killed him.
Not to mention, Law had obviously failed in the mission he’d been sent to complete—and he couldn’t imagine finishing it now. Not when he couldn’t shake the startled recognition that had struck him as he and Straw Hat had shaken hands that the pull in his chest had gone still, as though Law were where he was meant to be.
No, even with Vergo dead, Law was still just as stuck as he had been the moment Vergo had arrived on the island. He had no choice—either for himself or his nakama—but to continue on the path he was on.
Laughs and shouts bounced off the lab’s metal walls, and, as Law and his stewing shadow approached the source, Law recalled the blueprints he’d been provided; this must be the Biscuit Room, he thought as he stepped into the large, colorful space. He’d wondered at the name as he’d pored over the schematics on his way over, but now he understood. Smoker stepped up next to him and made a disapproving sound at the sight of what was clearly a space for children—children who had become science experiments for a mad clown.
Law narrowed his eyes, assessing the scene in front of him. It seemed the Straw Hats had taken care of their enemies with alacrity. Both Caesar and Monet were wrapped in what Law hoped were Seastone chains (he had warned them) and slumped against the wall. The cat burglar stood not far from them, hands on her hips and a small smile curving her lips as she watched the antics of her crewmates. Smoker’s second stood on the other side of the captives, clearly having taken it upon herself to guard them. G-5 soldiers milled about close to the swordswoman, refusing to fully engage with the pirates.
“Oh, Torao! You’re here!”
Law looked up to see Straw Hat across the room. He was perched atop the back of a couch next to Zoro, who appeared to be dozing. Long Nose sat across from them, his slingshot in hand. It looked like they’d been in the middle of a lively conversation before Law had caught the other captain’s attention. Nico Robin sat next to Long Nose, one leg crossed primly over the other and her hands clasped in her lap. She was smiling, as though enjoying whatever her nakama were discussing. The cyborg sat on the floor next to her. The skeleton, for his part, was wandering around the room, playing a jaunty tune on a violin. (At this point, Law didn’t have it in him to question where that had come from.)
That left the tanuki, Black Leg, and the samurai. Considering none of the children were present, Law had a feeling he knew what the little doctor was up to, anyway. Law idly wondered if he was having any luck treating the children before shoving the thought aside; he didn’t like thinking about his own history with looking to other doctors for help.
“Straw Hat-ya,” Law replied, stepping further into the room.
“What happened to that Verto guy?”
Law tightened his grip on Kikoku briefly. “Dead.”
Straw Hat simply nodded, but outraged noises erupted from the other side of the room. Law turned to look at the prisoners.
“What?” Caesar gasped loudly. “But he’s—”
“So, he was right,” Monet said, the quiet betrayal in her voice more painful than Law had expected it to be. “You were a traitor after all. I didn’t believe him when he told us.”
Though he hated the Family as a whole for what they had taken from him—and continued to take as they held his crew’s lives over his head—Law had spent years with people like Monet once he’d been brought to Dressrosa. And he didn’t hate them all as individuals. Monet was a lot like Law himself, having been rescued by the Family after an unspeakable trauma along with her sister. But, unlike Law, she hadn’t been freed from the corrosive influence of the Donquixote Pirates. She’d been fully indoctrinated and would never believe the truth of who Doflamingo truly was that Law had witnessed on Minion Island. Doffy had her undying loyalty.
Law’s jaw tightened. “He didn’t give me much choice.”
“I can’t believe you teamed up with these
idiots,” Caesar said, lips curling in disgust as he looked at the Straw Hats.
“Idiots?” the cyborg called. “That’s super rude.”
“These idiots kicked your butt,” Long Nose reminded him, aiming an empty sling shot in his direction. “So, what does that say about you?”
Caesar made some incomprehensible frustrated noises in response, but Monet simply looked at Law, her usually placid expression tinged with hurt. “Why, Corazon? After everything the Young Master’s given you?”
Law snorted, an ugly sound that caused Monet to recoil. He knew exactly where he stood with Doflamingo—the Warlord’s tool and plaything and the means to an end—and none of it was for Law’s sake.
It was never for anyone’s sake but his own.
Doflamingo liked to act like he was generous with his Family, but all he really knew how to do was take. He gave but took twofold in return—his gifts came with strings, literally and figuratively. The cost was unflinching allegiance to a madman, pieces of one’s soul irreparably damaged by every act of loyalty, every drop of blood spilled in the name of a man who believed himself a god. And the Family was happy to pay the price; Law once had felt the same before he’d been saved.
Doflamingo was also unflinching in taking from those who refused to pay fealty. He’d taken Cora-san all those years ago for saving Law. He’d taken Law’s and his friends’ freedom on a no-name island in the North Blue. He took the very existences of his enemies in Dressrosa, using Sugar’s abilities to erase them from memory and enslave them as toys.
It was fitting, Law had thought when he’d first learned of the scope of the operation in the kingdom; Doflamingo was a puppet master, literally pulling strings. He saw others as his toys to play with as he wished. Law was nothing more than another one of those toys, though a supposedly privileged one, sitting on the Heart Throne. But it was nothing more than a gilded cage. Law’s eventual purpose was still to die for Doflamingo’s immortality. After everything else he’d taken from Law, he also intended to take Law’s life. And he expected Law to give it willingly; anything else would break the illusion of Doflamingo’s complete control.
“He’s given me nothing,” Law replied coldly. Nothing that he hadn’t taken back countless times over as he whittled Law down into the shape he wanted as his Corazon, anyway.
Monet opened her mouth to reply, but she was cut off by a loud wail as the Straw Hats’ little doctor came out of a side room.
“Chopper, what’s wrong?” the cat burglar asked, hurrying to his side.
“I’ve tried everything I can think of,” he said, “but the drugs in their system are just too strong, and I don’t fully understand their interactions.”
“Of course, they’re strong,” Caesar sniffed. “I made them, and I’m a genius.”
“Shut up, clown,” Nami hissed before turning back to her crewmate. “So, what does that mean?”
“If I can’t get the drugs out of their system, they won’t get better,” the tanuki sniffed. “I can treat the symptoms, but I can’t cure them.”
“Let Torao take a look!”
Law jerked in surprise as rubbery limbs wound tightly around his shoulders and the too-loud voice rang in his ears. (His concussion complained with a painful pang in response, and Law winced.) He hadn’t even noticed Straw Hat moving from the couch. Law prodded at him with Kikoku’s hilt in a futile attempt to dislodge him, but Straw Hat just grinned at him.
The Straw Hats’ doctor eyed Law uncertainly. “I don’t know, Luffy
”
“He’s a good doctor,” Luffy said with a decisive nod. “He saved me.”
After several failed attempts to detach the other captain—the freaking limpet—Law sighed and satisfied himself with the biggest eyeroll he could manage.
“Do you think that’s a good idea, Luffy?” the cat burglar asked. Her suspicions remained, and Law could respect that. Someone on this crew needed to exercise some common sense.
“Torao can look at them,” Straw Hat said, unswayed.
“Don’t I get a say in this?” Law demanded. Being talked about like he wasn’t present was one of his (admittedly many) pet peeves.
“Shishishi,” Straw Hat chuckled. “You’ll look at them, won’t you?”
In hindsight, as Law followed the tanuki to the room he’d been seeing the children in, he’d like to say he agreed because disagreeing with Straw Hat over it would be too much trouble, and, with his head injury, he didn’t have it in him to argue. But the truth was that there was something in the wide, trusting grin Straw Hat effortlessly threw in his direction and the responding warmth in his chest that made the agreement roll off his tongue before he could stop it.
He listened with half an ear as the tanuki explained what he’d already tried with the children and what he’d found. Though Law wasn’t privy to the exact goings-on in the lab, he had a sense of how ugly some of the projects Doflamingo had his fingers in were, so nothing he heard surprised him.
“L-look, Corazon,” the little doctor said once he finished his recitation, voice trembling slightly as he turned to face Law, hooves on his hips. “These kids have been through a lot. They’re scared and in pain and want to go home. D-don’t make it worse, okay? O-or I’ll kick your ass myself!”
Law had never seen anything less intimidating—and his best friend was a polar bear mink, which said something—but he still respected the sentiment. That protective instinct toward a patient was the attitude a true healer should have, one Law had seen in his parents as they fought for the people of Flevance while it was ravaged by plague. And, despite all the blood he’d spilled over the years, it was a feeling he could feel stirring deep, deep within himself, too.
“I’ll keep that in mind,” Law replied. “You probably shouldn’t be here while I work, though.”
“What? Why?”
“My methods are
unorthodox,” Law settled on. Though the Ope Ope no Mi’s effects were bloodless and painless, that didn’t make them any less disturbing to most people who saw them.
The tanuki hemmed and hawed for several moments, and Law felt his impatience growing until he just opened a Room and approached the kids. The little doctor yelped and followed him.
“You’re that man from outside,” one of the kids said as Law approached, frowning at him.
“I am,” Law agreed.
“What are you going to do to us?” another child asked, arms crossed defensively.
Law felt his eye twitch at the assumption he was there to hurt them, but Law had attacked the people who were trying to help them escape. He wasn’t entirely sure what to say—he knew a thing or two about being a traumatized child, but that didn’t make him an expert on dealing with others.
“Corazon here is a doctor,” the tanuki said, coming up next to Law.
That piqued the interest of some of the children.
“A doctor?”
“Like you?
“What kind of name is Corazon, anyway?”
“Law.” Everyone turned to look at him in surprise. “That’s my name,” he clarified, startling even himself. “Corazon is a title, but
” But he didn’t work for the Donquixote Family anymore now that he’d sided with the Straw Hats, did he?
He glanced down to see the Straw Hat doctor looking at him curiously. “What?” he demanded, feeling suddenly uncomfortable, like he was being looked through rather than at. He couldn’t help but be reminded of Bepo when looking at the small creature, and Bepo had always known Law better than anyone—often better than Law himself.
“Nothing,” the little doctor squeaked before looking back at the kids. “Doctor Law here is going to look at you. I’ll be just outside if you need me!”
With that, he glanced back at Law once more then left the room, closing the door behind him. Law, curious at the tanuki’s sudden agreement to leave Law and the kids alone, turned back to the children. He took a breath and unsheathed Kikoku to perform a Scan.
-----
Once Law was finished his work, he left the delighted children chattering to each other about what it was like having their body parts removed and opened the door. The Straw Hat’s doctor was sitting just outside, and he perked up at Law’s appearance.
“Well?”
“I was able to remove all traces of the drugs from their system,” Law said. “But most of them will be dealing with the effects of long-term exposure. With rehab, they should all be fine.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes,” Law said, slightly annoyed at having his professional opinion questioned. Though he didn’t truly blame the tanuki; whatever Caesar had been experimenting on with these children, he’d given them some incredibly potent drug combinations that Law had never seen. Anyone without the power of Law’s fruit would have had a hard, if not impossible, time treating these children.
As Law had initially Scanned the children and seen the degenerative effects of the drugs they’d been exposed to, he’d been reminded of the charts he’d seen in his parents’ clinic of patients with Amber Lead Disease and the devastating effects on the body; he’d had to forcibly shake himself from the memory to continue working.
He started as the tanuki hurled himself at Law and wrapped his little arms around Law’s legs. The Straw Hats were far too affectionate for Law’s comfort.
“Thank you!” he said, looking up at Law with teary eyes. “I didn’t know what I was going to do for them!”
“It’s nothing,” Law said, lightly shaking his leg in an attempt to remove the other doctor. He was finding himself saying that a lot around the Straw Hats, he realized. He wasn’t sure he wanted to examine that any more closely.
The tanuki finally released Law’s leg and wiped his eyes with a hoof. “Luffy was right.” He gave Law a weak smile. “So, thank you for this. And for saving Luffy when I couldn’t. Law.”
Law opened his mouth to wave off the thanks again, but he shut it when he heard his name. Looking at the little creature, he felt his chest clench as he was reminded of Bepo when he’d called earlier. “I knew it, Captain. I knew you were still in there.”
He thought of the small feeling of satisfaction he got from healing Black Leg’s fracture, from knowing his hands could still heal after everything else they’d done.
Maybe Bepo was right, and the boy he’d sworn to follow no matter what thirteen years earlier was still in Law somewhere. Law had long thought that boy dead in the North Blue, but Bepo had always been the wisest of the Hearts.
“They’re your patients, Tony-ya,” Law said, recalling the doctor’s name from his—frankly ludicrous—wanted poster. “I was just helping out.”
Chopper’s face lit up at Law’s use of his name, but he tried to hide his pleasure. “That doesn’t make me happy, you bastard.”
Law’s lips twitched as he left Chopper to deal with the children now that they were no longer poisoned and headed back to the Biscuit Room.
When he entered, Straw Hat perked up immediately, as though he had a radar for Law’s presence. “Oi, Torao!”
“How are the children?” Nico Robin asked, eyes following her captain’s gaze.
“I removed the drugs from their systems,” Law said. “They should be fine with some long-term treatment.”
“What?” Caesar squeaked. “You shouldn’t be able to—”
Before Law could open a Room to shut the clown up, the cat burglar smacked him on the head. “Shut up, you slimy bastard. You’re lucky Torao here was able to help the kids. If he hadn’t been able to
” She trailed off, but the implication remained.
“Still not my name,” Law muttered.
“Still doesn’t matter,” the cat burglar replied in a singsong.
Law sighed and rubbed a hand over his face then looked back up at the other Straw Hats. “Now what?” He had no idea how long he’d been working on the children, but if his waning stamina was any indication, it had been a while. It must be getting late.
“The Marines called for backup,” Nico Robin said, “but the closest ship won’t arrive until tomorrow.”
“Captain Tashigi will be taking charge of the children,” the cat burglar added, a softness in her expression. “She’ll take good care of them.”
“And our next stop is Dressroba!” Straw Hat said.
“Dressrosa,” Law corrected automatically, stomach tightening at the thought.
“From the maps, Dressrosa seems to be fairly close,” Long Nose said, pointing to some maps spread out on a table between the sofas.
“It is,” Law agreed. “Maybe half a day.”
Half a day to figure out how to extricate Law and his nakama from Doflamingo’s strings.
It wasn’t enough time.
The cat burglar nodded thoughtfully as she came up next to the table and looked at the maps. She was their navigator, if Law remembered correctly. “It’s too late to set sail tonight,” she said. “We thought we’d leave in the morning.”
Law nodded curtly. “Fine.”
“So, you want to tell us what we’re walking into when we get there?” Zoro asked, arms crossed and eye narrowed.
Law opened his mouth to respond, but he was interrupted by the muted sound of ringing. Law reached into his coat pocket and found his Den Den Mushi waiting to be answered.
There was only one person that could be.
“Shit,” Law cursed.
He had no interest in letting the Straw Hats or Marines overhear this call, so he quickly formed a Room and Shambled into the first space that came to mind: the control room. He landed on the couch in place of a pillow he’d switched with.
He set Kikoku to his side and stared at the snail for a moment before answering.
“Doffy.”
“Corazon,” Doflamingo replied. Law tried to listen for anything off in his voice, any sense he knew Law had really betrayed him after all. “How is the mission going?”
Law hesitated only a moment as he calculated the best response to give. “It’s done.”
“And there were no
 complications?”
Law knew he was imagining it, but he couldn’t help but feel like Vergo’s corpse was staring at him from across the room.
“No. The intruders were taken care of.”
“That’s good to hear. I’ve been trying to call Monet but haven’t received a response.”
“She was injured during the fight,” Law said, the lie falling from his lips without a second thought. “I treated her wounds, and she’s currently sleeping.”
Doffy hummed in response. “I see. And Caesar?”
“The clown is locked away in his lab,” Law replied, allowing his disdain for the scientist creep into his voice. Doffy wouldn’t be surprised by it. “I don’t know how Monet puts up with him.”
Doffy chuckled. “She does it for me.”
“Of course.”
“And when do you plan to return home?”
“I’ll set sail in the morning.”
“Excellent. I knew you were the right man for this mission. Until tomorrow, little bird.”
Law grimaced at the nickname as he hung up the call. The Birdcage haunted Law’s nightmares to this day, and he felt like nothing so much as a caged bird in Doflamingo’s service—and the man knew it. The nickname had become more regular since he’d started bringing Law into his bed, an act that had truly felt like clipping his wings.
And now the little broken bird was going to try to fly again.
It would never work.
Law could feel his heartrate picking up as his thoughts started to whirl.
Like he’d told Violet that morning—had that only been this morning? It felt like a lifetime ago—he was Doflamingo’s creature, possessed by the man inside and out.
He lifted a hand to his chest, only to find his entire arm shaking.
Doflamingo was a Warlord and a former Celestial Dragon.
Heat rose in his face.
Who was Law?
Bile rose in his throat.
Doflamingo was a dragon to Law’s bird.
He was going to throw up.
What was Law doing?
Law pushed himself to his feet and took a few unsteady steps forward and managed to round the couch, but his vision spun in front of him.
What was he thinking?
His feet tangled under him with his next step, and he crashed to the floor behind the couch.
He was going to get his nakama killed with this futile venture.
His breaths came in jagged pants, his tight chest struggling to inhale and exhale, and all he could hear was rushing in his ears.
Everything Law had done for the last nine years had been to keep his nakama safe, and now he was going to fail them completely.
Law’s entire body shook, and he curled in on himself.
And now he was going to get Luffy’s crew killed, too.
He screwed his eyes shut and put his hands over his ears as he struggled to breathe. The walls were closing in on him. He could feel the wood of the treasure chest beneath him and the treasure they’d shifted to fit Law into the chest at his back. The lid of the chest wouldn’t move since Cora-san had placed another chest atop it to disguise Law’s hiding place.
Law tried to summon a Room to escape, but his powers refused to cooperate, slipping through his fingers like sand.
Cora-san was going to die because he’d helped Law

A cold sweat clung to his body.
The deafening cracks of gunshots, one after another, rang through Law’s ears and tears streamed down his face.
Law couldn’t make a sound because of Cora-san’s powers. He opened his mouth to scream but nothing came out except for ragged breaths.
He flinched hard as he felt a gentle touch on his shoulder.
Wait, a hand? Law was alone in the treasure chest.
The hand withdrew, and Law slowly opened his eyes. For a moment, all he could see was a blur in front of him—then red came into focus.
Doflamingo had worn red that night.
Law jolted backward until his back ran into something solid. He hissed through clenched teeth.
“—orao? Can you hear me?”
Law blinked slowly as a voice started to form words amidst the rushing in his ears. He felt the hand return to his shoulder, but he didn’t fight it off this time. Who—?
“Hey, Torao. It’s me. Can you hear me?”
It was Luffy.
Luffy hadn’t been on Minion Island.
Right.
Law wasn’t on Minion Island. He was on Punk Hazard.
Law wasn’t a sickly thirteen-year-old boy anymore. He was twenty-six and one of the most feared pirates in the New World.
Luffy squeezed Law’s shoulder when it was clear Law wasn’t going to freak out again.
Gradually, Law felt his heartrate slow, and his chest loosened, allowing him to take deeper breaths.
“Straw Hat-ya,” Law finally managed, voice rasping from his struggle to breathe. He pushed himself up off the floor, but his limbs felt like jelly, so he simply leaned against the back of the couch and pulled his knees up to his chest. He wrapped his arms around his knees.
Shame started to creep up the back of his neck as he realized he’d let Luffy see him having a panic attack—he hadn’t had one in years—only hours after making an alliance. He’d shown his allied captain how weak he truly was on the eve of taking on one of the most powerful men in the New World.
But Luffy simply smiled when Law acknowledged him and sat down next to Law, mirroring his position with his knees up to his chest. He rested his head on his knees and turned to look at Law.
Law resigned himself to questions about what had happened and was already considering how to reply, but Luffy surprised him.
“I used to get them after Ace died,” he said quietly. “Out in the forest alone when I trained with Rayleigh. I’d remember what happened and then I couldn’t breathe. I’d feel Ace dying in my arms and the fire in my chest all over again.” A soft smile returned. “But it got better when I saw my nakama again. They got easier to deal with when I wasn’t alone anymore.”
Looking at the other captain, Law realized that despite the grin that seemed permanently etched into Luffy’s face, he’d been through a lot in his short years. They had that in common. But where Law had retreated into himself to cope, Luffy turned outward. After coming to Dressrosa, Law had been too afraid to show any sign of weakness around the Donquixote Family, so he bottled everything up until it exploded. And the explosions tended to be violent.
“Doflamingo called,” Law said after a few silent moments by way of explanation.
“That Mingo’s a bad guy, huh?”
Law’s lips twitched tiredly at how simple Luffy made the situation. He rested his chin on the top of his knees. “Yes, he is.”
His eyes were getting heavy. Between the extended use of his fruit today and now the panic attack, Law supposed it was amazing he was even still awake. It was nothing new, though; working himself into unconsciousness was his preferred method of sleeping, despite the frequent protestations of his crew.
Law swallowed at the thought of his nakama back in Dressrosa.
“We’ll get him,” Luffy said confidently. “We’ll get Mingo, and we’ll save your nakama, Torao.”
Law grunted a response, and that seemed to be enough for Luffy.
They sat like that for a time, Luffy quieter than Law would have expected he could be. Despite the way Law’s thoughts had been a whirlwind before, they were quiet now. Gradually, Law’s eyes drifted closed, and he thought he might have felt an arm wrap around his shoulders before he went under completely.

rascal: law and robin brotp fanfic
Tumblr media
I have a lot of brotp Law and Robin in my fics, and one fic with them as a couple. I like the brotp interaction. Two cynical and supportive friends, but the writing is mostly in my multi-chaptered works, which are dark or canon divergent or both.
Anyway, I’m going to include an excerpt below. Robin’s painting Law’s toenails while they both chat about current and past loss and love. It’s from a three-chapter work that I don’t think will make much sense without knowing the rest of the world that it comes from, but hopefully this interchange can be followed and strikes a chord with some. I know the LawBin fans are thirsty. Post canon with canon-verse history and elements. This is an older piece.
🐞
Law sat back in the garden recliner in Robin’s backyard, a book over his face. He wasn’t in danger of burning easily in the late morning sun, but had no intention of making himself prey to melanoma. Robin perched on the edge of the recliner, holding one of Law's feet.
He'd spent the night at Robin’s in anticipation of the tea-towel convention they'd be visiting today. She’d spent the night trying to share his enthusiasm as he sat, tattooed arms spread on the table, poring over catalogues. His inked hands pointed out designs featuring disproportionate tulip-ensconced windmills, and disembodied body parts that had less to do with Dali and more to do with morticians.
She assumed all the creators were outliers. Commemorative tea-towels hadn’t quite taken the art world by storm yet, but they did remind her a little of Ryuunosuke, the very cute but badly drawn dragon that had struggled and succeeded in taking them all to the top of Zou.
That was last night though and now, soon, they’d head off to gossip and gander with the convention organisers, the Dishcloth Dames, once she’d made Law pretty.
“These are so cute.” She pulled at the few black gnarly hairs curled on Law’s left big toe.
“Freak,” Law mumbled, moving his foot.
Robin laughed, righted Law’s foot and wiped the brush over the nail of his big toe.
“When did you last clip these?”
“What’s it to you? You’re the one who wanted to dress me up.”
“You’re the one who’s letting me. You’ve got old man’s feet, by the way.”
Law arched his bridge and Robin slapped it, held it down.
“The sexy surgeon’s pedes don’t please? You said they were cute?”
She studied languages. She had no difficulty with Law’s fancy Latin terms.
“Mmm. I wouldn’t go that far. But I guess you got those tattoos to distract from your tootsies.”
The ink on the bridges of his feet matched that on the back of his hands. She felt the arc of the bone against her palm as she admired the designs, although it was one of the more simple ones to adorn Law and, historically, definitely not his favourite.
“And yet, there you are, making them all presentable and shit.”
“Does Marco like them?”
“He’s got his kinks.”
“And . . . ?”
“They remain in the bedroom,” Law grinned. At times he thought the Phoenix liked every part of his body, though they’d never had a deep conversation about those particular extremities.
“Ah, you’re no fun.”
“I’ve been told.”
Law felt her move to the next digit.
“What colour are you painting them?”
“Tch.”
As if it could be anything but black.
“Well, you sent Chopper out for the colour once,” Law said to her silence.
Bubble gum. Robin snickered, remembering. Law peered at her from under his book, her shoulders rose and fell with laughter. He liked that violet t-shirt.
.
Law seemed so disinterested, and therefore, Robin guessed very trusting, when she or anyone else painted his nails. He usually paid little attention to the colour, or even the action. It was something that pleased those who found it amusing to decorate him. Just so long as they let him read whatever he was researching, he indulged them. A small compromise for a larger gain.
No way in hell could someone he didn’t trust do this, though it had been done. Robin knew that trust was hard won. Law told himself that he let them all think he was vain this way so he could go for their jugulars some other time. Plus, he liked giving the Dishcloth Dames even more to gossip about.
.
Thinking of Chopper, Law laughed as if the sound was rationed—a clipped exhalation. The tanuki reminded him of his navigator.
“Bepo. Lord, Bepo got it into his head once to paint me. Maybe he wanted to practice so he could surprise some lucky Mink in the future, and who better to be his chump than his ferocious captain?”
Robin turned to him for a second, curious, before proceeding to the next toe. Her extra hands manipulated Law’s foot for the best access. Law’s own hand kept the book in place. She liked that silver band he sometimes wore on his wrist—a solid link—a flash of sky reflected in the metal.
“His fine motor skills aren’t the best. You’ve seen his maps. Shachi and Penguin thought I’d amputated my own toes without the benefit of a Room.” A rumble lifted Law's chest and then dissolved. He smiled easily. The book didn’t cover all of his face.  “He even dabbed a paw print on my heel.”
“He chose red?” She loved that flash of teeth.
“Mmm. So. I guess it’s black?”
Robin finished the last toenail and told him not to move his feet about for a while. She then drew up the recliner next to his, lay on it, leant on her side and looked across. Law could be asleep for all she knew.
.
“Oi, talk to me endling. Of course it’s black.”
Law’s lips twitched. Only Robin could get away with that.
“So needy, terminarch. How am I meant to do that without moving?”
They may as well have just called each other Flevance and Ohara. They did at times, but neither could be feeling too off-colour when they did, or the devil fruits would come out to play. The town names as nomenclatures were off-limits to anyone else.
“Take that book off your face at least. I know you can’t read it like that.”
“Your makeup bag’s not nearby, is it?”
“Just the toes today, Dr. Death.”
Good. He was only happy for modification to go so far. He sighed, grumbled, but lifted a hand and picked the book up by its spine, and rested it—still spreadeagled—on his chest. He blinked into the sun, then tipped his head her way. Not the most comfortable of positions.
“Can I sit up?”
The grey of Law’s irises were sometimes shot through with gold. She wondered what his parents had looked like. “Give it a few.”
He turned his face skyward again, his arm over his shut lids.
.
“How about Luffy?” she asked. Luffy was before island living, before Law’s casual feet days. If they’d ever played around with nail polish, she’d never seen the results.
Law groaned.
“He approached my nails as if they were made of seastone, his hand was that shaky.” The softness in tone betrayed the annoyance in his words. “For some reason he thought a pearly pink would suit? Maybe it reminded him of marbled steak or something? Of course, he had absolutely no patience.”
Law scratched at his sideburns with his spare hand.
“He slapped it on, forgot to cap the varnish, jumped on me, bringing the sheet with him, or whatever we were lying on, wherever we were. It smeared over everything; our clothes, or more accurately, my clothes. You know, Luffy somehow always escapes his own chaos—and then he declared the whole thing stupid and boring, as if I’d dreamt up the activity and forced it on him.” Incredulity hissed through the back of his teeth.
He tapped his earrings. "Somehow the polish even managed to get on these. Nami-ya probably talked him into the whole thing for a bet."
“And you let him?”
Law didn’t need to look at Robin to know her expression; amused and bemused.
“You choose your battles.”
“Mmm.” Her captain could be quite domineering. She wondered if they were the same earrings. It wouldn’t surprise her. She’d kept the same jewellery over the years, but added to her collection with each pirates' haul. The ones that Luffy didn’t somehow swap for food.
.
She sat up and twisted her neck. They needed to get going soon.
“Phoenix?”
“Still trying to unearth his kinks?”
“Now that you bring it up.”
Law’s smile, the one Robin and only a few others ever saw, made her lips curve.
“I paint for him at times. I mean, my own nails. He’s got a lapis grounding stone, and his flames are blue when he’s in Zoan form. I try to match those shades—a balance between the two. Other times, I paint for myself.”
“Does he notice?” Marco had a grounding stone? But then again, they all had their talismans.
“Sometimes.”
“You don’t tell him?”
“Not always. Other things are more pressing.”
“Does he know you’re a freak?”
“I thought that was you.”
.
Law paused for a second. He tipped his face Robin's way again, his hand still protecting his eyes. How come she got to sit up?
“The dogs have never liked it. And you know, all that waste. It’s not really hygienic in the clinic either.”
“You operate with your toes?”
Law laughed. “When I do my hands . . . It’s not hygienic.”
.
Robin cast a glance at her back yard – the trees that offered privacy from the neighbours, the small pond. She enjoyed life in the New World now Luffy was pirate king.
“The dogs don’t like it, but Bepo can handle it?”
“Well, he’s a freak, too. Minks wear makeup, right?”
Robin nodded. “You say that as if it’s a bad thing.”
“Makeup?”
“Being a freak.”
“To the contrary, some of my best friends are freaks. You can’t all be Chopper.”
Law calls Robin a freak and gets away with it. heh. Perhaps. Anyway, I’ll put the link to the AO3 story as the source (just edited it in. This post has been up for long enough).  It’s actually about dogs and links back to another story, and is kinda sad, and features Robin, but is about Law and Marco, and there’s plenty of humour too. If you want to read it, be my guest. It’s an older one, written a few years ago. T-rated.

So... I have this bad habit where sometimes, when attempting to summarize the idea for a fic, I go into waaay too much detail.
Like, I don't go as far as to actually wrote the damn thing because, you know, effort and laziness, but... Well, it's a close call. It gets to the point where it's less a summary and more what my friends use to call a Quick Fic. All that's .kissing is the actual dialogue and descriptive narration.
Having said that....
Here is a "summary" of an ZoLaw AU where Law works for Doflamingo...
What happened was, basically, Law got caught by Doflamingo after eating the devil's fruit which eventually allowed him to cure his dieses, thus why he's still alive. Or, at least, isn't dead from lead poisoning. Because let's face it, Doflamingo could have just killed the boy then and there. Sure, he'd have to find the fruit all over again, but better that the deal with this little traitor
Except really it was his brother who had been the traitor. Law is still just a child, and children can be so suspectable to any number of ideas so long as an adult gives them a pat on the head and a treat after.
Which is when Doflamingo realizes that he can just manipulate Law into being another loyal follower. Then eventually - when he's no longer useful - Doffy will have him sacrifice his life for his own immortality. By that point Law will be family, and family never lets Doffy down. Not anymore.
So it's under Doffy's personal tutorage that Law grows up, and as much as he might resit the man who imprisoned Corazon, it's hard not to eventually fall to all Doflamingo's sweet praise and promised. And Law gets what he had wanted all along: a way to get back at the world that willingly watched his home wiped off the official world map and would be happy to see the entire town dead to the very last one. This Law truly earns his title Surgeon of Death, acting as the top officer of Hearts in the Doflamingo crime family. And yet despite his cruelty, he isn't even on the government's wanted list; protected under the Shichibukai's jolly roger.
In the meantime, the Strawhats are still doing their thing right on through Punk Hazard (which they somehow manage to not only live through but actually do more damage and cause twice as much chaos. The biggest difference is that Ceaser and Monet escape and Sanji can't perv out over being in Nami's body). So this time when they roll into Dressrosa it's less "backing up the plan of an ally" and much more "on complete and total accident" and "without a damn clue".
Yeah, basically they're the Grand Line's easiest prey.
But, hey, it works out! Well, no, not really. But Sanji does meet Violet, Luffy meet Sabo and help recover Ace's devil's fruit, and Zoro does get lost and require a magic fairy guide. Plus, hey, since they're not really there for any purpose other than that they happened to be passing by, it's not like they can't pull a dine and dash. They may be unprepared, but The Monster Trio can still keep up the fight until everyone is back on the Sunny.
A perfect escape!
Except no.
Because Luffy isn't totally ready to leave, not when he wants to know more about what Sabo is doing and help his new friend Rebecca. Not that they have time to debate the merits of staying or pulling a tactical retreat since at that poing Big Momma is on their ass. And that scary dude in the long black coat is still somehow following them, teleporting himself through the fucking air like wtf why is this happening now!? Nami is forced to make an executive decision: they're can't stay. Also, oh God oh God they're trapped and they're going to be killed and oh God.
It's moments like these you're almost thankful one of your crew members is a total maniac. Because in the middle of all this mess, Zoro just smirks, tells Nami to just concentrate on getting away from that annoying ass ship, he's got their other attacker covered. Which only makes everyone freaks out MORE because what is Zoro thinking: he'll be killed! ("Not immediately, of course. First they'll likely torture him for information, perhaps even kill him as slowly as possible." / "What? Why would you say that? That is not SUPER helpful to hear right then!") The Sunny goes into an all out panic attack. Everyone is yelling or crying or both.
Except Luffy.
Luffy who looks at Zoro, at the singing ship, at the dark power user trying to slash their ship apart, at the shore line of this island and the way it radiates a fake happiness covering Rebecca's very real pain. Luffy who just lowers his hat over his eyes and gives the nod.
Zoro smiles, and is immediately almost clobbered by a giant Chopper. What is Luffy saying? Don't they realize that is the same guy who almost took down Sanji, Zoro AND Luffy only moments ago? Zoro can't fight him alone! Sanji, more calm than the rest, lights a cigarette while explaining that he's not trying to stop Zoro from getting himself killed or anything, but Chopper is right. That guy was incredibly tough, and there's no way Zoro can do it alone ("Shut up dartbrow! You don't know what the hell you're talking about! I could take him down with just the two swords! With one hand behind my back!" / "He already kicked your ass once, Marimo! Or have you forgotten because of all the head trauma!?" / "The only reason he kicked OUR asses is because YOU kept getting in my way you damn weak-ass cook!" / "WHAT DID YOU CALL ME, IDIOT MARIMO!?") Franky tries to regulate the fight but he's busy blocking those deadly aimed slashes from hitting his poor ship while Brook and Kin'emon work on stopping the incoming cannon balls. Either way they're going to have to do something SUPER fast if they want to get out of here. Yeah, Luffy, we need an actual plan. We can't just send Zoro out to-
"Zoro", Luffy says and despite everything going on around them the deck of the Sunny goes really quiet. They all know that tone. "Zoro, I need you to take care of this until we can get back. I still need to kick Mingo's ass for a friend."
At the sound of his captain's no nonsense voice, Zoro is suddenly easily able to stand, shrugging off the pile of people trying to stop him from jumping to his death (and by pile of people I do mean the coward trio and Sanji, who is mostly just trying to get in a few kicks). He draws Wado, clutching the katana in his teeth and yet still somehow manages what you know is a smirk. It's a promise.
And like that, Zoro is launching himself right into the blue sphere of the battle.
A battle against one of Doflamingo's top officers. A devil's fruit user with a twisted heart and home field advantage. Needless to say, it does not end well for our hero.
—🧡—
Although, Law has to give his rival swordsman some credit. He has his share of fun toying with the boy, and despite never standing any real chance of victory Law can admit the strawhat pirate puts up a better fight than most. Far better than Law had been expecting from some one so new to the New World (supposedly he got Mihawk to agree to train him, but Law has met the Hawk Eye and finds the idea utterly absurd). Then there is the way his smile had just an edge of what Law could only call manical delight, even when it became clear he'd long lost. This greenhaired kid really is stupid enough to believe his captain will come back for him. As though he would come charging back into Doflamingo's territory a second time just to retrieve a single crew member. One who was not only crazy enough to sacrifice himself but couldn't even win the fight. At the same time the swordman's loyalty and faith - as misplaced as it is - is kind of... Adorable. Who knew someone could come so far on the Grand Line and still be so innocent?
Law immediately wants to corrupt it.
Thes other family members will whine tell you, Doffy has always had... Let's say... A "soft spot" for Law. He's spoiled that brat for years, is what they mean but don't dare to say. Sure enough, Law barely has to work to talk Doffy around to letting him personally see to the prisoner's arrangements. Doflamingo is a little suspecious at first (he can never truly trust Law, not after the Corazon incident), but he quickly dismisses it. He's had the Heart Officer's loyalty for years now.
Of course, when he sees the spark of interest light in his apprentice as they eye their newest spoils of war, he can't help but tease Law. After all, Zoro is quite an enticing young man and Law isn't the only one there who likes pretty things. They're so fun to destroy which - judging from the way Law shivers when Doffy runs a hand through thick green hair before yanking the boys head back against the wall hard enough to leave the young captive panting and dizzy - is precisely his protege's plan.
(Doflamingo also happens to know Zoro almost definitely had trained under Mihawk, and he would love to see his fellow warlord's eyes flash with barely contained anger when he learns how Doflamingo has broken his favorite toy. It's not his fault - Mihawk is always so uptight and repressed, it makes agonizing him too much fun for Doflamingo to resist.)
In the end, though, he knows when Law's determination is set. And for whatever reason the boy has decided he absolutely has to be the one to keep their guest "comfortable" while his captain makes up his mind on what he'll do. So Doflamingo only teases for a bit - touches a little, plays with the barely conscious boy kneeling at his feet, enjoys the way Zoro still has enough spirit left to try taking bite when Doffy's fingers trail to close to his bloody lips (oh, and, what a joy! Law nearly growls at the prospect of not being the one to ruin the boy!) - but eventually he stops his little game. He gives in, telling Law to have fun with his treasure. He is the one who took him down after all. It is only fair he keeps him.
Just try not to completely break the poor thing, not until Strawhat returns for him.
Law snorts at the very idea. This is hardly the first time they'd done this. He's never seen a single captain try and retrieve their stolen property (he has of course, but he doesn't remember them). He doesn't see why Strawhat-ya would be particularly special.
Before Doflamingo can come up with a clever, vague answer about Law trusting him, Zoro suddenly gives a bark of laughter that would have scared lesser men senseless. It only serves to draw the two men's interest back to their little pet.
Luffy won't come back for him, Zoro confirms, much to Law's surprise (he personally never thought Strawhat-ya would, but then why would the swordsman sacrifice himself so willingly for a man he has so little faith in?) and has Doflamingo raising an eyebrow in.... Interest. Zoro looks at both of them with no fear, like he hadn't taken a humiliating defeat and is even now bloody and chained up, helplessly listening in on these two infamous pirates talk about him like he is a mere object. Actually, if anything, he appears to be wearing a smirk under all that blood. Because he knows something they don't.
Luffy won't come back for him, because his captain knows Zoro doesn't need to be rescued.
To Law, this makes Zoro look like an even sweeter treat. Doflamingo is simply amused, remarking that perhaps their little pup has yet to realize the leash around his neck is shaped like a noose.
Zoro meets his gaze, steady yet daring. He promised Luffy that he'd take care of it, and so that is what he will do. He'll never go back on his word, especially when it comes to his captain. Something Doflamingo with his distrusting and fear-toed crew couldn't understand. So see, their plan to use Zoro as bait will never work, because Zoro swore to Luffy that he'd be take care of it. So he will. Luffy has enough faith in Zoro that he'd never believe anything less and would never turn around out of doing to try and mount a rescue.
No, when Luffy comes back it will be for the sole purpose of kicking Doflamingo's ass.
The mood darkens. In a flash, Doflamingo is in back in front of him, yanking Zoro forward by the chin. He squeezes hard enough to bruise. You can hear the cracking of bone as he explains to Zoro exactly how precarious his current position is only to grow second by second more frustrate by Zoro's completely lack of fear. So he squeezes harder. He slams the boys head back into the wall and starts smiling when he gets a since from the stoic swordsman.
Before he can do any real damage Law steps in, reminding Doffy that he promised him he could have the boy. And just like that, Doflamingo's whole mood appears to shift back to calm. He puts on his fake smile and let's Zoro go, even pets the boy's hair. Of course, he had promised. And he, too, is a man of his word. Something Zoro will surely learn in time now that he is one of them.
Zoro, now with blurred vision and the taste of fresh blood on his tongue, is smart enough not to answer. But not smart enough to lower his head or try and appear humbled. Lucky for him, Doflamingo decides the boy isn't worth it. When he turns around he notes the hungry way Law is eyeing the kneeling prisoner behind him. Which brings a crueller, yet more genuine, smile to Doffy's featurss. The Strawhats vice captain may act invincible now, but he's never faced Doflamingo's own Surgeon Of Death. As disinterested and put off as Law might usually act, the boy can be dangerously twisted. He's sure his top officer will break the young pirate down bit by bit - both literally and figuratively - long before his captain can come running back in to try and find him (and Doflamingo is sure Strawhat will, no matter what Zoro might think).
He leaves with one last reminder to Law not to completely shatter the infamous Pirate Hunter. No, Doffy would hate to see their newest family member treated so poorly, especially seeing as he has much bigger plans in store for the young Mr. Roronoa. Specifically, he wants to see the face of Monkey D Luffy when he watches as the last bit of his first mate's spirit broken.
And because Doffy practically raised the boy and knows exactly the right buttons to push, he decides to give Law a little extra motivation to bring Zoro to that point. Just in case that interest turns into something dangerous like longing or - laughable as it is - actual fondness. It's so simple, too: as he walks by he simply whispers how there is nothing like crushing the heart of unrequited love.
It will be such a treat, tearing Zoro from his captain, and watching Luffy realize he's lost his chance to love the other man, wouldn't it Law? What a truly tragic romance. It almost makes you hope the two of them at least had some time together. Law didn't happen to give them a moment along before forcing Zoro to throw himself into the fight, hmm? Just a small, precious second or so for the two to share a final kiss. After all, not even Doffy is so cruel as to deny the poor boys such a tender moment.
Sure enough, Law's eyes immediately narrow and Doflamingo can feel the jealousy rolling off him. Not because Law gives a damn for their prisoner's feelings - Doflamingo raised him better than that - but he always has had a possessive streak. Having taken an interest in the swordsman, he will hate the thought that the boy might even think of another or that Law won't be the first to possess him in ever possible way.
Doffy leaves with a cruel, deep laugh. He can't wait until dinner, when he may just happen to remember the rumours about his "friend" Mihawk and his taking a young green-haired boy under this wing and in to his bed. By tomorrow he suspects every part of Zoro's body will bare at least some mark that he now firmly belongs to no one but Trafalgar Law.

Hi! May I request a law one shot please?? Reader is luffy's sister (like Ace and Sabo) and is alot like Luffy, law finds her just as wild as the straw hat crew and in a way cute and that's what makes him both worried and confused. Time passes he falls more and more for her and gets nervous about it so he goes to Robin and nami for advice and they turn into some entertainment, ending with a cute ending with reader saying she like likes him too, leaving him shocked and with a kiss ( ꈍ᎗ꈍ) Thank u!
A/N: jffcsfjcns this was too cute. Although, playing the whole Law asking for advice was a bit hard, I managed to keep it in character XD I hope you like it!!

In Need of Advice — Law x Reader
Tumblr media
“Robin-ya” Law approached Robin, as she looked up from her book.
A smile soon spread on her face, amused by Law’s blushing face.
“How can I help you, Torao-kun?” Robin said setting her book aside and looking attentively at Law who was avoiding all sort of eye contact.
“Can I talk to you somewhere
” He said looking at you from the corner of his eye, noticing how you were playing with Ussop and your brother Luffy, laughing loudly. “...privately... And away from everyone else?” He said clearing his throat.
“Oh my, if I didn’t know you any better, I’d say you want to confess your love to me, but that’s not the case is it?”
“Not really
” Law’s face became even redder with embarrassment, since Robin seemed to read him as easily as reading her book.
“I mean, it’s not me the one you want to confess, isn’t it?” Law’s face got blank with fear, his eyes reading BUSTED in big bright letters, making Robin laugh gently. “Come with me, Torao-kun"
At the beginning, Law was not sure where Robin was taking him. But as he stepped closer and closer towards you, his heart beat faster and stronger.
The two of you exchanged glances, and when you did, you smiled kindly at him. His heart stopped right there for a brief second.
How frustrating was for him to deal with his feelings for you. You were...Strawhat's sister, just as wild and reckless and loud. Your smile was just too wide and charming and stupid and kind it made him m sick.
And the fact that you were constantly talking to him only made it worse. Unlike Strawhat, you weren't annoying him every time you talked to him. You were just like your brother but with a volume turned slightly down, with the plus that you were more civilized than him.  As you genuinely tried to get to know him better. You were probably the only crew member, other than Luffy, who tried to befriend him. And he appreciated it even if he wouldn't admit it. Not even to himself
"Hey, Law!" You said as he walked past you. "Wanna hang out later by the trees?" You said, your gentle eyes looking deep into his grey eyes, intimidated him in a way only you could do.
Law nodded as he followed Robin to the girl's room, where Nami was inside, lying on her bed, trying to nap.
"I remember telling you I wanted to talk privately.." Law hissed as Nami looked away from her book, ready to complain why was he there.
"If you want to get to [Name]-san's heart, it's best for you to hear what we both have to say...after all, we are her roommates" Robin answered.
"Oh, so this is what it is about" Nami giggled. "So you do like [Name], don't cha'? I had my suspicions
"
"I thought I wasn't obvious" Law muttered bitterly.
"Not that much actually” Nami began “But how you usually teamed up with her while we were at Punk Hazard was what made me suspect things
" Nami continued. "You knew each other before then, didn't you?"
"We fought side by side briefly at Marineford. She also stayed with my crew while we had Luffy hospitalized"
"So you know her" Robin said, an affirmation more than a question.
"Not that well
" Law said in a low voice, feeling slightly more at ease, knowing he was alone in the room with Robin and Nami.
"And have you liked her since or that just started now?" Nami asked, sitting on her bed and staring into Law
"Is it necessary for you to be asking this many questions?" It was his nature to respond sarcastically whenever he was feeling cornered.
"Oi, don't get cocky on me, you daft boy" Nami growled. "We can either help you or we can completely turn [Name] against you like this" she said snapping her fingers threateningly. "So, your pick. Are you still going to be a little prick?"
"Yeah, I don't need this. I should not have come for help
" Law hissed, turning around and leaving the room.
For a brief second he felt dumb, thinking asking for their help would work, but the idea of being at their mercy made him feel powerless and embarassed.
"Jerk
" Nami growled after Law stormed out of the room, thinking there was no way in hell his terrible mood would ever be noticed by someone as kind as you.
"[Name] knows
" Robin whispered containing a giggle as Nami looked at her, raising an eyebrow.
"How do you know?" The redhead asked.
"She heard our conversation" Robin answered with a playful smile on her face. “I suppose she was going to come inside and instead decided to overhear our conversation. I saw her peeking from the door.
"Oi! Law-kun!" You said, pretending you didn't just ran from outside the room towards the main mast.
After Law locked eyes with you, you ran off up stairs and towards the small garden at the back of the Sunny. The kind of smile you gave him, and how you ran, constantly turning back to see of Law was following, felt like an invitation to Law.
He followed you with long quick steps and finally made it to the green area where you were sitting between Nami's tangerine trees, and the small garden Ussop and Chopper used to grow all sorts of plants.
"Look!" You said excitedly, patting the free space next to you. "This is my favourite one!"
Law followed sitting next to you and looked at the flower your hands were gently caressing. A bright red and yellow flower which kinda gave the appearance of being a dragon's head.
"This one is called Dragon's breath. Ussop told me it can easily catch fire and explode. He uses it for his slingshot.  I really like the way it looks. At night it smells...similar to the smell matches smell like after you lit them"
"It is pretty
" Law said not really paying attention to the flower, but instead he was looking at you, as he thought, he feared that Nami might turn you against him soon.
"Law-kun" you said, your eyes still glued to the flower. "Thank you for saving Luffy. I'll always be grateful to you, no matter what happens"
"You already thanked me at least a few hundred times" Law chuckled, genuinely amused by how you always thanked him
"Have I?" You giggled playfully "Not enough, though" you turned around looking at Law "You know, at first I thought you were slightly intimidating and a bit terrifying. But after spending some time with you and your crew, I came to realize that you are a pretty cool guy" Your eyes were locked with hos, as you savoured the gentle grey tone washing his eyes. "You're smart, you're strong, the fact that you don't like bread is so freaking weird, but it's quirky. You are quirky. And I like it"
It was weird for him that you were talking about this with him. Suddenly remembering when you met, and how you'd always be grateful, how you were praising him, right now.
"[Name]-ya, did
” He purred, looking at you in the eye as your orbs reflected the sunset “Did you listen to my conversation with
" as he put two and two together, his voice faded out, leaving the question in the air as you looked away and back to your flower.
"I may or may not have listened
" you answered, Law speechless as he tried to catch his breath. "I also may or may not like you back
" you added, a soft blush shading your cheeks, taking the same tones the sunset had.
"[Name]-ya
"
"Law, if I
" You stopped abruptly, taking a deep breath and gathering the strength to turn around and look at Law "if I were to kiss you right now, what would you do?"
"You want to kiss me?" Law chuckled, both flattered and feeling shy.
"Can I?" The way your eyes were looking at him so curiously only added to his fluttering gut, Fuck, why do you have to be so fucking cute, [Name]-ya he thought.
Law chuckled, feeling his own cheeks turn red despite his tan skin. He leaned closer, first bumping his forehead next to yours and brushing the tip of your  nose with his.  He whispered your  name one last time in a gentle chuckle before closing the space between you and pressing his lips against yours.
At once, you cupped his face in your hands, as you awkwardly kissed him back  trying to figure out his rhythm, you tried to move your lips along with his. The kiss was gentle and sweet, and after a second it stopped feeling awkward. Law purred into your lips, a gentle moan, giving away the satisfaction this whole situation was bringing him, as he lost himself in that kiss.

Me again lol (if that’s okay) Law finding out Corazon had a child.
Law would be absolutely floored by this. He knew that Corazon was good at keeping secrets, but...this was something else. He'd honestly have trouble believing it without proof. Deep down though, he can't find any reason for someone to lie about this, especially considering (if this is before Doflamingo's defeat) how much danger they would be putting themselves in.
He'd refuse to seek them out until Doflamingo is dealt with. Even though he wants to meet them for himself, he can't risk his plan failing and potentially leading Doflamingo right to them. Still, the entire time he's in Dressrosa, Corazon's child is in the back of his mind. He has to succeed. He has to, but not just for Cora anymore.
Once Doflamingo is dealt with, he'd put his plans in Wano on hold. If we're talking about timeline, he would find them after making it to Zou but before heading to Wano. While Luffy and the gang are on WCI, he's looking for Cora's child and gathering as many clues as he can to their location: World Government documents, something hidden among Cora's personal effects, anything that can help. He'd found a photo of Corazon, his newborn child, and his smiling partner; he keeps on him at all times until he finally finds them.
He'd make his way to whatever island the child is on (I imagine that if they're so well-hidden that Law didn't even know about them, it would be on a very secluded one); the entire ride there, he's internally freaking out. What does he say? How old are they? At least 13... Is their mother alive? Do they know even know who Corazon was?
When he finally arrives and knocks on their door, he instantly recognizes the preteen/teen and their mother from the photo he'd found. They aren't the spitting image of their father, but just by looking at them once he can tell that they're Corazon's child: the slope of their nose, the way they hold their chin, the shape of their eyes...
Once their mother arrived to see who was at the door, she'd recognize Law instantly from how her love had described him in letters. She'd have a few tears in her eyes and would invite Law inside. She'd introduce him to her child as their "Uncle Law", an old friend of their father. Their face would light up and Law would feel a small lump in his throat; they definitely had their father's smile.
"Oh! From the letters! My dad used to write to my mom about you ALL the time! Here, I'll show you."
They would bring a rusted metal box out and show Law the stacks of letters that Corazon had written (their mother whispered to Law that she kept some of the more...intimate letters from "Rosy" hidden away somewhere else) They tripped and fell flat on their face as they hurriedly ran out to show Law--of course, they had to inherit Corazon's clumsiness.
All of the letters were in a code that Law recognized as an old one that Marines occasionally used to communicate.
"My mom taught me how to read them, if you need me to translate or teach it to you. Here, this is the one where he talks about..."
It seemed like they'd read these letters a million times with how well they knew each of them. The more they talked, the more nostalgic Law got. He hadn't had the chance to ever reminisce about his childhood in a happy way.
When he finally left, he had to almost physically push himself out of the house. As much as he wanted to spend time to talk with Corazon's child (and...wife? Lover? He was too polite/shy to ask her), he couldn't risk losing his chance to defeat Kaido. Corazon's child begged to go with him, but begrudgingly accepted when both Law and their mother said no. (Though depending on how much of a teen rebel they are, they might actually find a way to sneak onto the Polar Tang...👀)
"Fine...but you better come back someday, Uncle Law!"

You answered my ask ajshbdheusndhsj đŸ„°đŸ„°đŸ„°đŸ„°đŸ„° I am over the moon ecstatic! I have another if its okay? What if laws s/o had hair like requnzle from tangled, and he found out because she heals him, and he freaks out because he knows if others found out they woukd try to take her to use her? Sorry.. Im being greedy! I love how you write, seriously!
Aw you’re so sweet! You aren’t being greedy, don’t you worry :) I’m glad you like my writing! It always makes me happy when people tell me that :’) I loved writing this and it took me so long because I just kept getting lost in the scenario! (In a good way though)
****SPOILERS FROM DRESSROSA**** (I’m very rusty on my dressrosa so please bear with me
I had to watch the fight again to remember some of it...obviously I’ll be changing some things but, again, rusty lol)
You felt helpless. There was nothing that you could do right now but wait for Law and Luffy to defeat Doflamingo while everything was crumbling around and the birdcage was slowly but surely making its way closer to the group you were with. You knew that you would just make things more difficult  for Law and Luffy if you tried to make your way up to them, but you also knew that you wouldn’t make it in time to do much.
There were explosions up where Luffy and Law were and you could have sworn that you heard gunshots. Your entire body was trembling and you didn’t know what to do. But within a few seconds, Luffy had jumped from the top of the building with Law in his arm. Your eyes widen when you notice that your captain was missing one of his own.
“Law!” You screamed out and all of you ran towards where Luffy landed. He set him down on the ground and you didn’t hear a word that Luffy-or anyone else for that matter-was saying but you knew that Robin was at your side as well talking to Law. One of the dwarves, Mansherry healed him as much as she could for the time being but it wasn’t long.
“Law, can you hear me?! Stay with me!” you cried out and looked up when you heard something whizzing towards you. There was nothing you could do so you shoved Robin out of the way so she wouldn’t get hit with whatever was coming at you and you shielded Law’s body with your own. But Cavendish came out from behind you, fending off the pieces of stone that were aimed at you and Law.
“We need to get out of here!” Cavendish picked up your captain’s body and you grabbed his arm with the three of you ran in the direction of safety. After a while, Law woke up, clutching at Cavendish’s coat.
“Put me down...” he croaked out.
“You’re awake!” your eyes widened, relief washing over you.
“Leave me here...” he told the blonde man again.
“I’m not letting that happen.” you narrowed your eyes at him.
“I’ve waited way too long for this. I want to watch him defeat Doflaminogo with my own eyes or die along with him!” he exclaimed, his voice cracking.
“I’ll stay with him then. I can help him.” you stated with conviction. You weren’t leaving him here alone with his injuries when you knew you could help him heal a lot faster.
“No! Go with them!” he told you, coughing after his words.
“I’m not leaving my captain to die alone.” your jaw clenched and Cavendish begrudgingly complied, setting him on the ground as you kneeled beside him. “Go. I’ll take care of him. We’ll catch up.”
Robin and Cavendish nodded and ran back on their route.
“Why don’t you listen to me?” Law growled out as he looked up at the fight going on above the two of you.
Since you were relatively newer to the crew, Law still hadn’t gotten too good of a grip on your personality yet but he was finding out you were stubborn as hell. “You’ll get to learn that I’m not a very good listener.” While you were speaking, you undid your hair. Law had never seen you with your hair down and it was a lot longer than he thought it was initially.
First things first was his arm. “I’ve never reattached a limp before though.”
“I can do it, don’t worry.” you watched him wince as he reattached his own arm but didn’t comment on it since you needed to focus on the bullet holes in his chest.
“I know you don’t have a lot of energy left, so just let me do it, okay?” you opened up his jacket being careful of the wounds and trying to stay calm. You were still trembling as you leaned down to get your hair close to him. Law watches you, not knowing what you were doing, but understands once he sees your hair begin to glow as you hum. His eyes widen in awe but he lifts a hand to stop you.
“Stop... please...” he starts to panic as his eyes avert to the fight above once more. “If Doflamingo sees you healing me he’ll try to use you..” Law’s voice was laced with worry and you could feel him shiver slightly at the thought of Doflamingo taking you away.
You push his hand gently back to the ground. “It’s okay, I don’t care. As long as I heal you first...I don’t care.” your faces were quite close to each since you were leaning down to get closer to his wounds and you could feel your face getting warm when the two of you locked eyes and you glanced away.
“I care.”
You quickly looked back at him and your mouth stayed open, not being able to form a sentence. But it didn’t take long before Law was nearly healed even though there were some things that you wouldn’t be able to heal completely. He sat up and you helped him. “Law you really shouldn’t be moving yet... You’re still really injured.”
“I have to go help Mugiwara-ya..” he let out a groan from the pain that was still lingering.
“I’ll come-”
“No. That’s an order.”
“But Captain I can help!”
“I said no. Please...Y/n-ya.” Law staggered as he got up and you quickly moved with him to help him gain his balance.
“But...” a whimper left your mouth and Law could tell that you were more than worried.
“I’ll be fine. I’ll come back.”
And he did. The next time you saw your captain was after everything was over and all of the crews were celebrating their victory and cheering about how Luffy was now their boss. You didn’t talk to Law much in that time because you were upset at how reckless he was being towards the end of the fight. But when you were back on the Sunny with the rest of the Straw Hats was when you did.
You and Robin were at the back of the ship, watching Dressrosa get smaller and smaller.
“You love him, don’t you?” Robin spoke up after a few minutes of silence.
Your breath hitched in your throat as your head whipped in her direction but she was still staring at the destroyed country with a small smile on her face. You took a deep breath. “It feels wrong. I feel like I shouldn’t be in love with my Captain. It’s cliche...But I can’t help it..” you rest your forehead on the wooden railing. Tears prickle at your eyes as you look down. “I thought he was dead.” your chest lurches and you let out a quiet wail.
Robin gently rubs your back. “What if those feelings were reciprocated?”
“I haven’t known Law for the longest time since I’m newer to the crew, but he doesn’t seem like the kind of person to be romantically interested in anyone.” you rest your chin on the banister and shrug. “I just don’t know if I’d be able to get over it.”
“You‘ll never know if you don’t talk to him.” Robin assures you as she glances back as Law who’s been standing there and gives him a smile. “Why don’t you?” That was all she said before you felt her hand leave your back. Familiar footsteps were heard behind you and you cringed, sighing to yourself as you stood up straight, knowing who was behind you now.
“Thank you.” Law spoke first, walking over and standing next to you.
You just nodded, not speaking because you knew that he had heard what you said to Robin.
“And I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to worry you. But I did tell you that I would be back didn’t I?” Law said.
You shook your head. “It’s fine...” your bottom lip began to tremble and when you looked up at him he could see the tears in your eyes which made him feel even more guilty than he already did. “Don’t do that to me again...Please.” you sniffled as the tears rolled down your cheeks. Law wiped them away for you.
