the mindset of my current hero of kvatch is so fucked up i love it. he immediately joined the dark brotherhood weeks after getting out of prison, did all his contracts, became listener yadda yadda now he's an assassin bored out of his mind with the job, since he doesn't carry out contracts any longer. so he goes looking for other work, all the while amassing wealth via his payments as listener & his pirate band based just outside anvil. he joins the fighters guild not for the money, but out of pure boredom. he doesn't have any thirst for death or blood, he just needs a strict code of interesting tasks to complete, and the brotherhood happened to be where he found himself first up so that's what he's come to expect. the thieves guild could have offered him something, but they missed the chance and he finds the idea quite dull now. even with all the necessary skills to be a great thief (sneak, illusion, security). he's willing to join the mages guild to further hone his magic, but the busy work given to initiates turns him off the idea of pursuing full membership. his only loyalty is to his clan members in the brotherhood.
#i like to think about the bleak moral codes my dragonborns and hoks would have after becoming dark brotherhood members#its always like. they see murder in a purely utilitarian way. its their job. they do it. figuring out how to do it sneakily & make it look#like an accident is interesting and stimulating mentally.#but the murder itself is neither here nor there. they neither revile it nor love it#and then they go off to join other guilds for something to do. or to amass power. or for money. and i like to think about their#internal morals. any crime is acceptable only within its original context and job. if the thieves guild says no murder. my dragonborn#says 'yep sure. murder is off limits' if the brotherhood says 'kill the emperor' they say 'this will raise the guilds infamy tenfold.#raising it from its own deathbed. sure.'#my.txt#my.stuff#rambling#tes iv: oblivion#hero of kvatch

I got a bunch of questions concerning this AU Sukuna of mine. They inspired a lot of thoughts.
Please remember that my view is just my own subjective opinion. It is clouded by my unhealthy affection towards him, and it is developed based on my own bias and unprofessional analysis of him.
Let me go one by one.
1) Occupation
He is either a mafia boss or just a good old CEO. In my opinion, one does not need to be in the underworld to be the devil he is. (I actually find it attractive if somebody "makes it" in legal ways. Seems much harder.)
On the other hand, I see parallels between yakuza and the historical/mythical figure of Ryomen Sukuna (being a folk hero and anti-government), so I think being an oyabun kinda suits him (or maybe someone lower-ranked, he seems a bit young, but who knows when it comes to him...)
Note: yes I'm aware that Gege specified that he is not identical to the mythical figure, but those stories line up with the background I imagine for him, the background that contributed to him turning out like this. That is an entirely different analysis though...
2) His thoughts? Hobbies?
He probably suffers/suffered from every drawback of a dysfunctional family or growing up in an orphanage, including but not exclusive to trust issues, attachment issues and self-control issues (alcohol, drug, women), etc. However, he got these setbacks under his control. He had nothing so he wants and gets everything, he had no one so now he wants and gets everyone but never keeps anyone close by for too long (unless they are useful in a professional environment).
He is a very active and competitive person. He is a workaholic, he made it to the top at a relatively young age. He ruthlessly used everything and everyone at his disposal and reached all of his goals. He ended up lonely at the top, which, on one hand, is the essence of his nature and source of his ego and pride, and it is also how he feels comfortable, utterly detached from the good will of anyone. On the other hand, it's probably very lonely. Of course he also rationalised this and swept it under the rug. It turned him bitter, quite a nihilist and even more selfish. He very likely prioritises low-effort relationships in his personal life, unwilling to create attachment to anything other than himself.
His hobbies may include
culinary pleasures (as canon)
mastering new skills, such as languages, shooting, cooking, etc
he enjoys pushing his own boundaries in gym/sport (probably everything else too)
he also enjoys fine and expensive things in life, like cigars, wine, etc
He needs constant mental stimulation to stay content.
3) Deformities
Option A:
He is just a human. He has only 4 limbs. He lost his right eye (and his right cheek?) in a fight or accident.
Option B:
Reincarnated demon lord fitting into society. I think he can morph his own body at will. He is hiding his deformed face that is also a source of some secret abilities.
4) His type?
If the question concerns his type in partners...
Option 1: Toys.
Anything goes. I think he likes people he can get rid of without much problem. Probably someone who doesn't need too much mental investment. Just make them have an interesting quirk that piques his curiosity, and easy to deal with. One thing though: I believe he is always 100% honest about his intentions. He never needs to lie and manipulate someone into any kind of relationship with him.
Option 2: Partner.
He probably doesn't believe this person exists, as he is used to being alone and never experienced devotion and care. He automatically treats everyone as a toy, that's all he knows how to do, that is what is comfortable for him.
The problems start when he discovers emotional attachment to somebody. It probably stresses him out greatly, he doesn't know how to deal with it. It infuriates him and it takes a toll on his confidence and usually calm demeanor. Probably to a point till he behaves aggressive even towards the subject of his affection, unintentionally hurting her. It probably takes a lot of patience on both sides to get through this. It's possible he would try to treat her even more harshly than everyone else, to punish her for causing him such misery, hoping that she would abandon him - because he cannot abandon her.
This person is someone who can challenge him mentally. Somebody who is not identical to him, but he sees her as his equal, somebody who shares similar views and values but can broaden his horizons. She is intelligent, a free spirit willing to obey only him, mysterious but also honest, reserved and opens up only to him to reveal an endless treasury of new experiences. She is somebody who can challenge his authority and forces him to step up his game, but is also able to admit defeat and happy to submit. Power play is fine, but at the end of the day, it's him on top, always. Most importantly though, she is loyal and naturally reciprocates his efforts (if they ever reach that stage).
As far as physical traits go... (...was this what you really wanted to know and I was babbling about her character?)
I think he likes it when a woman takes care of herself, but doesn't like them "fake". I also think he likes long hair and feminine characteristics (typical beauty standards of the Heian period). I think he admires natural beauty and can be fascinated by many different features though.
5) Colors
complexion: slightly darker (not super fair like Gojo's skintone) Google says it's "medium beige" but it sounds weird, haha
eyes: red
hair: I use a darker shade than the official true form art, resulting in a pale mahogany color
Here you go, @rosemaydone321 ! Sorry, it got long.... Hope this is what you meant with the questions. Thank you!

Do you think ppl in this fandom infantilize Lucifer? I often see some fans (Cough Lilith Haters cough) treat him like he’s nothing but a helpless uwu baby. Like dude he fought against Adam (The only one who should be calling him baby is Lilith-)
Throws chair holy fu cking shit yes
'Lucifer would be horrified to discover ducks' corkscrew dicks but also he designed them' Pee your Pants now, your fav has weird little girl picking up worms energy and you should be grateful for that
Honestly this issue annoys me most in discussions around the Eden incident because I think the potential is downright fascinating only for the actual rebellion of their actions to be overlooked
Like, shippers have been making the Short One a weak little submissive twink cause they don't know how to write interesting relationships since the dawn of time, Adamsapple fans just found out about being tall and a bottom at the same time and they have yet to shut up about it. If thats what gets them off whatever
but in other contexts? like come on, someone engage with the text with me
He tried to break humans free from heaven's control, regardless of the introduction of evil, that was a direct confrontation
No, Lucifer hasn't deconstructed his bias properly but that doesn't mean he likes Heaven, there should be more hostility, that man is a wet blanket for exclusively Charlie(and not even always) and is so very irritating sometimes on purpose sometimes on accident to everyone else and he is very unapologetic about it
He's a cunt! He's an almost entirely self focused annoying cunt and was a dismissive father for years, My Beloved
I get really turned off by any depiction of Lucifer as a younger sibling/ apprentice/etc figure now just cause like, the actual issue is never tackled in those, he just cries and is hugged better
There's a lot misrepresentations of mental illness too, like he has stimulation seeking depression its weird when hes morose and apathetic, i miss my overly dramatic attention whore performer hurling around ducks that displease him, also the suicidal thoughts tend to be written poorly which is offputting when you've dealt with them before
the Adam scene is interesting cause Lucifer clearly knows his power, it makes sense Char doesn't have a grasp on her rank but Lucifer knew Adam didn't have a shot against him
Lucilith fans aren't even that much better, like how many are just 'Lucifer is sooo cute and sweet and innocence and childlike wonder and Lilith wants to fuck him so bad about it'
ive seen a lot of Lilith taking care of drunk Lucifer, I have yet to see any drunk Lilith just saying
Maybe i'm just too invested my tarnished divinity dynamic but im bored of that shit, let's cracks them open and see whats wrong with them already
I've really come to appreciate Lucifer writing in the show after all the caricatures he's spawned, only a truly interesting and nuanced character could be interpreted this badly in this many different ways
#im feeling mean tonight apparently#this was ramble too#I usually try to be a little coherent in my point#but im not confidence this is going to even comprehendible by morning#hazbin hotel#hazbin hotel lucifer#it's metaphor for leaving the church please think about that slightly sometimes#well being excommunicated#same thing

You should do a Ruben/Ruvik fanfic or headcanons about what dating him would be like, also about being intimate together >///.///< Like what his turn ons would be, favorite body part of his SO, and stuff along those lines 🙌🏻
I can't believe I haven't written Ruben headcanons yet... either that or my own tags lied to me. It's Tumblr, there's like a 50/50 chance. Anyways!
SFW Dating hcs:
Unfortunately the only way you're getting to date Ruben Victoriano is if you knew him at a specific point in time; once he's working at Beacon/for Mobius he has 0 interest in anyone around him no matter the... pleasurable qualities.
You'd have to know him from childhood. Maybe your parents knew each other and you had play dates before the accident?
Regardless, dating him comes with many downs and not a lot of ups; you'd have to really understand him, his emotions, his mental state; he'd be very obviously torn in his affections.
On the one hand, Laura. His world, his entire reason for living and creating STEM... on the other, there's you, staying by his side, understanding, helping any way you can, keeping secrets, not attempting to pull him away or discourage him from his work, dealing with the seizures, the outbursts, the accidental hurtful words, the violence and sadism...
You know you're sharing his love with someone that isn't even on this earth anymore. You can't deny it, try as hard as you'd like, he makes it painfully obvious, so find comfort in the fact he's choosing to share his love at all.
But in the lighter side of things, he's attentive. To things you like, say, feel. He's noticeably softer with you then he is with anyone else. He cuts out time for you, and does his best to ensure you don't feel neglected.
Soft touches, spending time curled up watching a movie under a hundred blankets; he knows he's difficult, and he praises you for all that you do when he gets the chance.
He doesn't miss a thing that you do for him. Not one, even if he doesn't bring it up immediately. You'll have cleaned the house early in the morning, and he'll pass by you occasionally as you do so without a word. You'll be having dinner that night and out of the silence... "The house looks amazing. It'd fall apart to ruins with just me living here. Thank you for that. I appreciate it greatly." He'd hold eye contact with you to make sure it all sank in and that he's saying it directly to you, not just staring down at his food and making a passing comment about it, his eyes soft with a small smile on his lips.
NSFW 18+ only beyond this point
Ruben despises how little mobility his burns give him, but god he just can't lie to himself that you don't look fucking incredible riding him like this.
Ruben isn't very vocal, but his hands wander frequently, grasping at you like you'd dissappear if he let go.
He likes to pleasure you, likes studying your reactions to stimulation in different areas; are your breasts more sensitive then your clit? When he finds that spot inside you and curls his fingers into it, how much louder do you get? Will you arch your back off of the bed? What if he adds his mouth? Do your hands clench the sheets impossibly tighter?
Similarly, he's curious about the things you manage to do to him; those eyes, it turns him on so badly when they're so obviously needy, dilated with lust only for him, he can never say no to those eyes. So he diverts them in an attempt to resist. But then your hands, your hands wander his torso, the affection always welcome, but when they're driven by your need, they feel so much warmer; they search.
Oh, and when you palm him through his pants, he can't help but buck into your touch. When your mouth kisses along his neck, he can't help but sigh. You're always so careful and conscious of his burns, so delicate. He gets hard sometimes just thinking about it.
His favorite thing is when you suck him off and you decide to focus your efforts on just his sensitive tip; he never can hold himself back for long, no matter how hard he tries. He loves how obedient you are to him, but those moments when you take control are everything to him; you're not afraid of him, you're just choosing to listen.
Your independence is the most attractive quality, he loves how he has to work to keep you, to satisfy you. So many people let him walk all over them, but not you. You push back, and he loves it. Likes to rile you up on purpose just to bring you back down. Or, even better, simply bend you over a table and get both of your aggression out that way.

I have a small head cannon now with my version of reader that I wanted to share with you:
She has a lotus pin in her hair due to her association with Quanyin and it has the added bonus of extra protection (like a protection seal)
Just wanted to share, now I’m going back into my hole to finally finish a fic that’s been giving me writers block for two months now.
*gets slapped with writers block in the face*
Gosh darn it….
(By the way any tips on how to overcome writers block?)
That's a pretty interesting idea. Like a lil fashionable talisman~
And good luck with your writing hope you can get through the writers block
As far as tips go, I unfortunately can't help much in the writer's/artist's block since I don't really get it.😬 If anything I just get bursts of laziness where I don't wanna pick up my laptop cause that's too much effort and so end up curled up in my nest scrolling through tiktok all day. But to remedy that, I just force myself to pick up my laptop or @lovesick-ritz will kindly hand it to me so I can get things done.
So here's the tips that I could think of:
Set a designated area or method for writing (ex. I only write on my laptop bc I've assigned it mentally as my preferred place to write)
Make it as easy as possible for you to write (ie. leave the writing tabs open. I personally never have word closed there's always at least my notes tab open but I usually have at least 3 word tabs don't ask me why I'm addicted to keeping tabs open)
Try to get rid of as many distractions as you can like unneeded social media (having a tumblr tab open is always my down fall cause I get distracted by asks)
Since I have adhd and autism complete silence honestly distracts me more than anything so I like to play this 10 hour thunder storm video on YouTube (this also helps with my tinnitus in case anyone else got that)
Another thing I've been told that help is just start writing little notes or just anything at all and maybe that'll spur you into what you want to be writing
Also some random tips if found useful when it comes to writing/drawing:
If you hyperfixate on writing and drawing for long periods of time like I do (like I'm talking about 8 hour sit down don't move sessions) get water and a couple snacks before you start and be sure to stretch at least once an hour
Remember to specifically do full hand stretches to avoid carpal tunnel and writer's/artist's arthritis
Try to get up and walk around as much as possible (if you can as someone with walking issues I know that isn't always easy or even possible)
One thing I like to do to rest my eyes and brain is after a few hours I'll go to Spotify and play a few songs (or in my case one song on repeat I've been particularly obsessed with the Epic sagas since they've come out and have been constant listening to Survive in the Cyclops saga) with your eyes closed. Staring at a screen all day can be harmful to your eyes and brain.
And for drawing with adhd, if you're working on a long piece it can get frustrating to work on one part for long periods of time so keep in mind that if you're start to feel bored or tired with the part that you're working on it's ok to move to a different part. (ie. you've been working on the hair for a while and start to feel understimulated to move to the face or even a completely different area so get that stimulation) It's not like a story where you gotta remember plot points and continuity the whole thing is right there so just work on whatever part catches your fancy. Or hell if you get bored just draw lil scribbles for a second in a corner somewhere until you feel up to going back to the piece.
Please keep in mind while reading these that I by no means have healthy habits. As I stated I hyperfixate on projects and will often neglect my human needs for extremely long periods on accident; however, I am lucky enough to have a very attentive partner that reminds me and encourages me to take care of myself and helps me when I can't. (Love you Ritz. Literally couldn't live without you~ mwah💜)
HOWEVER! Because of this I am extremely used to living with unhealthy habits and have an OBSENE amount of tips for dealing/living with them so if anyone wants some autism/adhd/depression/anxiety (all of which I have kinda extreme forms of) life tips lemme know and I'll write a whole essay for you. Tho again I will say these tips are not cures. These conditions are permanent so these tips would just be ways to make living with them a little easier. (Honestly I might just make that post even if no one asks for it on the off chance that helps even one person)

Baby Toy Buying Guide: How to Select the Best Toys for Your Child
Choosing the suitable baby toys is more than just about fun – it’s about promoting their development, safety, and creativity. Toys play a significant role in helping your baby grow mentally, physically, and emotionally. With countless options available, it can be overwhelming for parents to select the best.
In this baby toy buying guide, we’ll explore the key factors to consider when choosing toys for your child to ensure they’re engaging, safe, and beneficial for their development.
Prioritize Safety Above All Else
The safety of your baby is the most critical factor when buying toys. Babies love to explore with their mouths and hands, so choosing toys from non-toxic, BPA-free materials is crucial.
Look for labels that indicate the toy has passed safety standards, such as being free of small parts that could present choking hazards.
Always ensure that the toy is age-appropriate for your baby. Toys designed for older children might have removable parts, sharp edges, or small pieces that pose risks to younger children. Inspect toys regularly for wear and tear to prevent any accidents.
Choose Toys That Encourage Development
Babies grow rapidly, and their toys should support their development at each stage. Developmental toys help stimulate a baby’s senses, motor skills, and cognitive abilities. Here’s how to choose toys based on different stages of growth:
For newborns (0-6 months): Look for toys that stimulate their senses, such as rattles, soft plush toys, or sensory balls with different textures. Bright colors and high-contrast patterns also help capture their attention.
For 6-12 months: At this stage, babies begin to sit, crawl, and explore. Stacking rings, soft blocks, and push-pull toys encourage physical development. Toys that make sounds or play music help them develop auditory skills.
For toddlers (12 months and beyond): Consider toys that encourage problem-solving as your baby begins to walk and explore more independently. You can also invest in some outdoor baby toys that engage them with the outside world.
Consider Toys That Promote Creativity
As babies grow, creative play becomes an essential part of their learning. Open-ended toys, such as building blocks, stacking cups, and dolls, allow babies to use their imagination.
These toys don’t have a specific way to be played with, so your baby can invent their own games and scenarios.
Art supplies like crayons and large drawing paper (safe for little hands) are excellent for toddlers to start exploring creativity. Simple musical instruments like tambourines or xylophones also encourage creativity through music.
Go for Age-Appropriate and Durable Toys
Toys matching your baby’s age are essential for safety and engagement.
A toy designed for older children might be too advanced and frustrating, while a toy for a younger age group may not capture their interest. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s age guidelines when purchasing toys.
Additionally, choose toys from reputed websites like My Little Wonder that are durable enough to withstand rough play, especially as babies grow into toddlers. High-quality, sturdy toys will last longer and provide your child with lasting enjoyment.
Look for Educational Toys
Toys that combine fun and learning are ideal for early childhood development. Educational toys like shape sorters, alphabet blocks, and number puzzles help babies playfully learn foundational skills.
Interactive books with textures, sounds, and pop-ups are also great tools to foster early language and cognitive development.
Conclusion
Selecting the suitable toys for your child involves more than just picking something colorful and fun. Safety, developmental benefits, creativity, and educational value are all key considerations that help ensure you choose toys that will nurture your baby’s growth.
Considering these factors, you’ll be able to make informed choices when purchasing toys that not only entertain but also enrich your child’s learning experience.

The Car
sites and things read that were interesting....
counting for "the evidence"
https://www.myhealthcaremagazine.com/the-psychological-benefits-of-a-road-trip/
from the above sources...looking at driving in a more literal way...
Psychological theories provide various insights into decisions related to car use, addressing factors such as individual perceptions, environmental influences, and social behaviors. One key psychological concept influencing car use, especially in urban areas, is perceived control—the feeling of having influence over one's surroundings. Well-designed urban settings with clear signage and real-time traffic information can improve a driver's sense of control, potentially affecting their choice of transportation. On the other hand, poorly designed urban environments may cause stress and discomfort, leading drivers to seek more sustainable alternatives like public transportation, bike lanes, or pedestrian-friendly areas if available. Social behaviour also plays a significant role in car use decisions. The design and ambiance of a location can influence driving behaviour. Urban areas, often perceived as impersonal and stressful, may lead to defensive and less courteous driving. In contrast, rural settings or well-designed mixed-use neighborhoods—combining residential, commercial, and recreational spaces—tend to foster a sense of community and encourage more considerate driving. Additionally, the "psychology of trip geography" examines how psychological patterns, such as setting goals and following plans, interact with a trip's geography. This interaction can sometimes lead to unsafe driving practices. For example, a driver may underestimate the time needed for the latter part of a journey based on initial progress, leading to rushed driving and increased accident risk. Addressing these issues involves understanding the psychological effects of long drives, raising awareness about the "psychology of trip geography," and promoting realistic trip planning. A study also identified fifteen psychological theories related to car use decisions, focusing mainly on self-reported behaviors rather than objective data. Notable models in this area include the Comprehensive Action Determination Model, which integrates various theories to explain intentional, normative, situational, and habitual factors influencing car use, and the Stage Model of Self-Regulated Behavior Change, which focuses on the self-regulation aspect of behavior change in transportation choices.
there is a complex nature of car use and our ability to make 'decisions', which in hindsight highlights how psychological factors, environmental cues, and social dynamics interact to shape transportation behaviours.
Lighting colours is interesting as well... and the psychological effects that the different colours have as car interior lighting. It looks at how different hues can influence driver emotions and behaviors.
● Warm Colours: Colours like red, orange, and yellow are considered warm and tend to evoke feelings of energy, excitement, and warmth. Red, often associated with passion and alertness, can be stimulating. Orange promotes a sense of friendliness and comfort. Yellow is linked to clarity and mental focus. ● Cool Colours: Blue, green, and purple fall under cool colours, generally associated with calmness, relaxation, and tranquility. Blue is known for its calming and stress-reducing effects.5 Green symbolises balance and harmony, promoting a sense of peace. Purple often represents luxury, creativity, and sophistication. ● Neutral Colours: White and grey are considered neutral colours. White is often associated with cleanliness, modernity, and a minimalist aesthetic. Grey represents understated elegance, maturity, and professionalism. The time of day should be considered when choosing interior lighting colours. During the day, colours like red, orange, or yellow can enhance alertness and focus, aiding concentration. At night, blue or green lighting can minimise glare and promote calmness, reducing eye strain.
this is helpful to keep in mind i think when considering my tonal pallet.
Visual Collection Inspiration.
Pintrest...
Instagram...
over the last few weeks... before i looked for virtual inspiration that was somewhat centred around cold tones, high contrast, and various distortions inclusive of motion blur.
ones taken on my phone, just testing out the possiblity of taking photo.. these were the best ones (in my opinion... so yes still in need of work) and yes i need to figure out how to use bride properly, wasn't paying attention super well when it was explained :(
my curiosity has led me to consider the grubby windshields as possible filters, as it it through the watermarks and bird shit and dust etc... that we see the world pass us by. and sometimes this enhances the glare of light.
(contrasts are also important to consider (not that any of the above photos touch on the concept of the liminal) but for future reference, as this is a fundamental pattern in the foundation of many different understandings of liminality, the familiar... with the unfamiliar)
uncanny could = distortion and abstract.
lines are important to consider, so is framing and being mindfull of what is reflected in the many shinny surfaces.
i loved the expressionism of the water drops on the window refracting the light of the roses into a paint like pattern. not toltaly in focus.
Remember from workshops :
Detail, Vantage point, time, the thing itself, framing.
formal, experimental, abstract, "pretty picture"
Possible motifs: Brain storm....
selective framing
mirrors, not just the mirrors a car has for checking surroundings but mirrors for the idea of reflection, which transfers to glass and the reflection on glass of the past surroundings.
motion blur and light painting: time
abstract: imaginative, in attempt to capture the mind wandering
detail. macro, staccato-ed importance
dark, harsh contrast
selective light sources: headlights, interior car lights, street lights
inside the car looking out.
outside the car looking in
random objects: items
Notes from Lecture 2 or 3 or 4 ( I can't remember... )
most of my thought i write in my notebook so (note to self) remember to refer back to this .
people to look up again... Nadav Kander, Jem Southham, Stephen Shore, Ngahuia Harrison, Natalie Robertson, Alec Soth.
i propose to argue that "no sence of place" can in fcat be "a sence of place" in its own right. the car inside there is no sense of place in the way that stepping side a a book store becomes a sense of place,
I had this thought inspired by Kate's work. to "ruin" the physical in order to recreate. to bend and remodel the photo. folding. collage?
multimedia, combine different elements,
this is well and all but Rodrigo pointed out that this is only "well and all" if it is intentional and links in and makes sense to my ideas. so i wil be holing onto this and keeping this in mind as i start conceptually draw some ideas.
for example, capturimg feeling could look like movement, or expressionism, impressionistic- like.....
to use parts of a person within and around the vehicle. to emphasise the connection between the self and the experience.
maps could be a useful signifier..... particular in use of a collage...
texture...
talk to the people around me and gather feelings an personal experiences of driving and entering this place....
"listen with your camera"
"feel with your camera"
"smell and taste with your camera"
(make connections with colours as well and shapes)
Brain Mind Dump Car thoughts....
child imagination
too many "lovely" old people which too much time on their hands :)
adult anxieties about the past, present, or furture, or all at once, and never the present because that would involve living in the moment and having mindfulness and i'm convinced based on the actions of my peers and the people around me that this certainly isn't the case 80% of the time
slow down,
speed up.... sometimes... but remebr to breathe...we sometimes forget...especially when we are looking down at out phones typing a text message.
a piece of popcorn on the floor is uncomfortable, reminding me of the disorder, the need to clean, where the child sat in the back eating to distract their fast minds from the boredom of slowing down. how do we teach them that it is necessary and "positive".
we have phrases now like "iPad kids".... imagibe being an "iPad Kid"...
road cones are hidious, and everywhere, procreating. the danger of seening them stacked, does someone know that they are stacked... that they dont need to make more. where do they live when theyre not on the roads adding an extra punch of vivid articulallty and stagnant remider of the never ending matinance. i can look out the window of the cafe where i am sitting writing this and can see a perfectly fine orange cone standing directly in my line of sight.
obvious bright colours are important for when we drive to counteract the meditative sleepiness inducing hum of the engine or the plentiful other distractions that we rather put our attention on (especially for me and my ADHD).
Listening to music is something we do while driving, (or podcasts)
i guess to avoid the boredom....(embrace the boredom)
going back to the Liminal (yes again this word, this idea)
I found that a lot of the sound tract from Stranger Things emulates how i would think of this concept put into sounds... here are a couple of tracks from Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein and few others that give a backing to the visuals i wil hopefully be able to create.
the synth-heavy electronic tones and it is rather salient and calming a contrast to the rather dark prominent themes of the show. they create this flowing and floating feeling.
most of the sound track is very similar but here are a few...
similar...and different almost hopeful, moving fast.
unironically the themes and ideas withing these tracks are that of... running away, escaping, farewell, a movement away but in moving away or in the notion of leaving is the notion of coming and arricvng and moving towards...
dependting on how we interpret the idea of "home" we could argue that it is afeeling we will always move towards or try to find and Stranger things sums this perfectly in a way, regaurding eleven and Will coming back from the upside down>
thinking these thoughts back to my study of place, within a vehicle, I'd like to think that this is true for being "in transit" both physically and mentally.
our destination or place of departure has a lot of influence over how we 'are' inside the vehicle on our journey between A and B.
Target Audience
ideally id like to target an audinece of general public, your average John, or Steve, Rebecca and Tracey etc... and offer a new way of seeing the space we inhabit when we are in transit within our vehicles.
however this seems a far stretch for me, and particularly changeling to reach peoples minds when starting out with a new artistic medium that is photography.
nevertheless aim high and land, yet in just as a successful place...hopefully.
so I will hopefully target people who are thinkers and already like to think deeply about their surroundings and feel something. imagine creating art that evokes feeling.

The Benefits of EMDR Therapy for Trauma Recovery in Vancouver
Vancouver, with its focus on holistic health and well-being, has seen a growing interest in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy. This therapeutic approach is gaining recognition for its effectiveness in treating trauma and fostering emotional healing.
Trauma can have a profound impact on an individual's mental health, often leading to conditions such as PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Traditional therapy methods may not always address the deep-rooted nature of traumatic memories. EMDR therapy offers a different approach by using bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements, to help the brain reprocess and integrate traumatic experiences.
One of the key benefits of EMDR therapy is its ability to provide rapid relief. Many individuals report significant reductions in symptoms after just a few sessions. This is particularly beneficial in a city like Vancouver, where the demands of urban living can make it challenging to commit to long-term therapy. EMDR's structured, phased approach ensures that each session is productive and moves the client closer to healing.
Another advantage of EMDR therapy is its adaptability to different types of trauma. Whether an individual has experienced a single traumatic event, such as an accident or assault, or has endured prolonged trauma, such as childhood abuse, EMDR can be tailored to meet their specific needs. Vancouver's diverse population benefits from this flexibility, as therapists can customize treatment to align with the cultural and personal backgrounds of their clients.
EMDR therapy also empowers individuals by helping them develop positive beliefs about themselves. During the reprocessing phase, negative beliefs associated with traumatic memories are replaced with positive ones, fostering a sense of self-worth and resilience. This transformation is crucial for long-term recovery and overall mental health.
In summary, EMDR therapy in Vancouver offers a highly effective method for trauma recovery. Its rapid relief, adaptability, and focus on positive change make it an invaluable resource for individuals seeking to heal from past traumas and lead more fulfilling lives.

Understanding PTSD is crucial for several reasons. First, it lets people with symptoms know they are not alone and their experiences matter. It also helps remove the shame of mental health and encourages seeking help and support. If you understand PTSD, you can help and support those affected by it.
Understanding PTSD: Symptoms and Causes
A. Definition of PTSD
PTSD is a mental disorder. It happens after a traumatic event like war, disasters, or assault. Four main groups can divide the symptoms of PTSD. People with this condition may have unwanted thoughts. They may avoid certain things. They may feel down. They may startle easily.

C. Causes of PTSD
A wide range of traumatic events can cause PTSD. Events that can cause trauma include combat, assault, accidents, disasters, violence, and illness. The severity and duration of an event, as well as a person's support system, can cause PTSD.
The Impact of Trauma on Mental Health
A. Effects of trauma on mental health
Experiencing trauma can have a profound impact on an individual's mental health. It can lead to mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and dissociation. Trauma can also affect an individual's self-esteem, ability to trust others, and overall sense of safety and well-being.
B. Common mental health disorders associated with trauma
Besides PTSD, trauma can contribute to the development of other mental health disorders. PTSD often comes with depression. People feel sad, hopeless, and lose interest in things they liked. Traumatic experiences can lead to anxiety disorders like generalised anxiety or panic disorder. Many people with trauma turn to drugs or alcohol to cope, which is a common issue.
Seeking Professional Help: Therapy and Medication
A. Types of therapy for PTSD
Therapy is a crucial component of treating PTSD. There are many therapies that can help reduce symptoms and improve overall well-being. One therapy that helps with traumatic events is Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT). CBT focuses on finding and changing negative thoughts and behaviours. EMDR is a type of therapy that uses bilateral stimulation. It helps process traumatic memories and reduce distressing symptoms.
B. Medications for PTSD
Sometimes, medication may be prescribed to help manage the symptoms of PTSD. Doctors often prescribe antidepressants like SSRIs or SNRIs to help with depression and anxiety. Other medications can help manage nightmares and sleep disturbances associated with PTSD.
Coping with Flashbacks and Nightmares
A. Definition of flashbacks and nightmares
Flashbacks are strong memories of a bad event that can feel like it's happening again. Nightmares are distressing dreams that often involve elements of the traumatic event. Flashbacks and nightmares are very distressing and can greatly affect someone's daily life.
B. Coping strategies for flashbacks and nightmares
There are several coping strategies that can help individuals manage flashbacks and nightmares. To come back to reality during a flashback, you can use grounding techniques. These techniques include focusing on the present moment or doing sensory activities. To have fewer nightmares, try doing calming things before bed, like deep breathing or relaxing your muscles.
Dealing with Hyperarousal and Anxiety
A. Definition of hyperarousal and anxiety
People with PTSD often experience hyperarousal, which is an increase in mental and physical activation. You may feel cranky, have trouble sleeping, be on high alert, jumpy, or always on edge. PTSD often causes anxiety. This includes excessive worry and restlessness. It also includes racing thoughts and physical symptoms such as a fast heartbeat or shortness of breath.
B. Coping strategies for hyperarousal and anxiety
There are several coping strategies that can help individuals manage hyperarousal and anxiety. Engaging in regular physical exercise can help reduce tension and promote relaxation. You can also use deep breathing, mindfulness meditation, and muscle relaxation to calm your nerves and reduce anxiety. Getting help from a therapist or support group can give people tools to handle anxiety.
Managing Triggers and Avoidance Behaviours
A. Definition of triggers and avoidance behaviours
Triggers remind people with PTSD of their trauma and can cause strong emotional or physical reactions. Avoidance behaviours are ways people avoid things that remind them of the trauma. These actions may help for a short time, but they can also make the fear and anxiety from the event worse.
B. Coping strategies for triggers and avoidance behaviours
To manage triggers and avoidance, you slowly confront and deal with the upsetting memories and emotions. Exposure therapy can reduce fear and make people less sensitive to their triggers. It involves gradually exposing them to their triggers in a safe environment. Learning healthy ways to cope, like deep breathing or grounding, can help manage reactions to triggers.
Building a Support Network: Friends, Family, and Community
A. Importance of a support network
Having a strong support network is crucial for individuals with PTSD. Friends, family members, and community support can provide understanding, empathy, and validation for the individual's experiences. A support network can also offer practical assistance, such as helping with daily tasks or accompanying the individual to therapy appointments.
B. How to build a support network
To build a support network, reach out to trusted friends and family. Share your experiences with them. You can also try support groups or online communities to connect with others who understand. Building a support network takes time and effort but can provide invaluable support during the recovery process.
Self-Care Strategies: Exercise, Nutrition, and Relaxation Techniques
A. Importance of self-care
Self-care is essential for individuals with PTSD as it helps promote overall well-being and resilience. Taking care of yourself can lower stress, boost mood, and increase self-esteem. It is important to prioritise self-care and make it a regular part of one's routine.
B. Self-care strategies for PTSD
Regular exercise like walking, yoga, or swimming can help lessen PTSD symptoms and boost mental health. Eating a balanced diet that includes nutrient-rich foods can also support mental well-being. Practising relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, or engaging in hobbies or activities that bring joy and relaxation can help individuals manage stress and promote self-care.
Overcoming Stigma and Shame: Addressing Mental Health Taboos
A. Stigma and shame associated with mental health
There is still a significant amount of stigma and shame associated with mental health conditions, including PTSD. The stigma stops people from seeking help, which makes them feel more alone and upset. We must challenge stigmas and create a culture of understanding and acceptance for mental health.
B. How to overcome stigma and shame
To overcome stigma and shame, you can learn about mental health. Challenge negative beliefs and share your experiences. Sharing personal stories can reduce stigma by showing the human side of mental health conditions. It is also important to seek support from understanding individuals who can provide empathy and validation.
Moving Forward: Finding Meaning and Purpose After Trauma

Caring for Our Loved Ones as They Age
Aging is an inevitable part of life, and as our loved ones grow older, their needs change, and they require more care and support. This transition can be challenging, both for the elderly individuals and their families. However, it is also a time when we can demonstrate our love and compassion by providing the best care possible. In this blog post, we will explore the various aspects of caring for our loved ones as they age, from understanding their changing needs to making their living spaces safe and comfortable, and ensuring their emotional and mental well-being.
Understanding Changing Needs
As our loved ones age, their physical and emotional needs evolve. It is essential to recognize and understand these changes to provide the appropriate care and support. Here are some key aspects to consider:
Healthcare Needs: Seniors may require more frequent medical check-ups, medication management, and assistance with chronic conditions. It's important to coordinate their healthcare with doctors, specialists, and caregivers.
Mobility and Accessibility: As aging can lead to reduced mobility, ensuring that their living space is accessible and safe is crucial. This may involve installing ramps, grab bars, or stairlifts.
Nutrition: Proper nutrition is vital for senior health. Their dietary requirements might change, and they may need help with meal preparation or grocery shopping.
Social Interaction: Loneliness and social isolation can have a significant impact on seniors' mental health. Encouraging social activities and maintaining connections with friends and family is crucial.
Cognitive Health: Cognitive decline is common in old age. Activities that stimulate the mind, such as puzzles, games, and social interactions, can help slow down cognitive decline.
Creating a Safe and Comfortable Living Space
To ensure the safety and comfort of your aging loved ones, consider making necessary adjustments to their living space like home care services:
Home Modifications: Evaluate their home for potential hazards and make necessary changes. This may include removing tripping hazards, adding handrails, and installing non-slip flooring.
Bedroom Comfort: Ensure their bedroom is comfortable and easily accessible. An adjustable bed, comfortable mattress, and adequate lighting can make a significant difference.
Bathroom Safety: Install grab bars, non-slip mats, and a raised toilet seat in the bathroom. These modifications can prevent falls and accidents.
Kitchen Adaptations: Make the kitchen user-friendly by organizing items within easy reach, and consider appliances with safety features like automatic shut-off.
Emergency Response Systems: Invest in a reliable emergency response system that allows your loved ones to call for help if needed.
Emotional and Mental Well-Being
Caring for the emotional and mental well-being of your aging loved ones is just as important as addressing their physical needs:
Active Listening: Spend time actively listening to their concerns and feelings. Empathetic conversations can provide emotional support.
Engaging Activities: Encourage engagement in hobbies, interests, and activities they enjoy. This helps maintain a sense of purpose and satisfaction.
Respite Care: Caregivers can experience burnout, so it's essential to take breaks and consider respite care to ensure both the elderly individual and caregiver's well-being.
Support Groups: Consider joining support groups for caregivers and seniors. These provide a sense of community and shared experiences.
Professional Help: Don't hesitate to seek professional help if necessary. Therapists, counselors, or support services can offer valuable assistance.
