fandomless college verse. riley goes to columbia university, studying communications and being a member of their cheer team. she wanted to stay in new york, and she wanted to be a little more ambitious. maybe she can be smart like her mom wants her to be. but honestly... she doesn't want to do it for her mom anymore. and if she does go to law school after graduation... it won't be because her mom's a lawyer, it'll be because it sounds like the best path for her.

london verse. riley's mom took a job in london after her freshman year of high school and she's lived there ever since with her mom, dad, and little brother. she's stayed in touch with her most important friends, but has made a new life for herself in her new world... living and thriving in the uk. she goes to uni there and ends up leaning more into drama than comms. she does go to new york to visit maya and farkle in particular, but she's truly able to grow up faster in the uk because well... no more riley committee. she loves her childhood friends, but she loves her freedom too. as scary as the world can sometimes be- she's been allowed to be exposed to it.

riley met the love of her life in her years at columbia... and she's getting engaged to be married! noah's everything she could possibly want... she's almost certain. he makes her feel good about herself, never questioning if she's too much, or making her think she needs to be a certain way for him or anyone else. he encourages her to follow her own dreams, and be okay with the fact she might want to do some things her parents did too... without having to feel like she's walking in their shoes. and well- there's no one she wants by her side for this special moment more than her lifelong best friend, maya. maya's the best- she's the perfect maid of honor. she loves maya so much, and maya loves her. but maybe maya loves her differently.
