good lord, that hit like a bantha to the face. Yikes. You are not wrong, and yet nobody who was training him noticed. Like yes, I understand everyone was stressed and in some cases grieving, but all jedi who were raised as one likely know the culture and near-religion surrounding a lightsaber, a kyber crystal, and its wielder. At the very least they should have done a check up due to the constant resource drain!

The reverence Luke has for his first lightsaber is so funny in retrospect, as if that wasn't his father's twenty-seventh lightsaber after breaking or losing all the ones before (we won't even get into the fact it's also the Youngling Slayer 9000), and kept it safe for over three years as his most sacred object.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: one of the only few bad things about Tolkien's legendarium is that it makes 90% of all other fantasy worlds look either completely or somewhat mediocre in comparison.

I feel like 99% of the Silmarillion fans forget that Fëanor was actually a very likeable guy for most of his life.

That is literally a significant part of why people followed him. A lot of people loved and admired him. He wasn't mean to random people, and definitely not "a toxic husband/father." The whole point of his story is that he was universally beloved, which is what made his fall so impactful.

The fandom jokes about Gandalfs love of and absolute faith in hobbits, but like he’s a maiar so he’s seen some shit with the other races. Is there a hobbit Feanor? How about a hobbit Ar-Pharazon? Even a hobbit Sauron? The worst we get from hobbits is Smeagol killing a guy in a mugging (admittedly not great) and then spending a few centuries minding his own business in a cave eating raw fish. They are unproblematic kings.

I don't recall the books ever specifying what weapons Elrond primarily fought with and while he is usually given a sword by both the movies and fandom, I think it would be incredibly hilarious if he came out with fucking Dramborleg.
