@dxcinhx at one point one of them (probably Tara, what with her luck) forgets and sits right on one of the knife pillows. Once the panic is over and everything calms down Mindy won't stop laughing. It's one of the more embarrassing hospital visits any of them have had.
hi i actually love your headcanons so much. can you get me uhhhhhhh number 6 meal (sam headcanons) with some fries and a medium coke thank you very much
Aye aye captain o7
Has almost no concept or understanding of gender. She uses she/her pronouns, but she's most definitely not a woman. Her gender is Sam.
She was in a (really bad) punk band in high school. She's deeply embarrassed by it now, and adamantly refuses to admit it ever existed. Tara has photos that he occasionally uses as blackmail.
She's a really good cook!
Just try and tell me she doesn't listen to ICP. You can't. Juggalo Sam rights.
She had her growth spurt before most of her peers. If you look back at yearbook photos from elementary and middle school, she's towering over all her classmates.
Has weapons (mostly knives) hidden all over the apartment. They're always in the weirdest places too. There's one taped to the top of the blades of the ceiling fan.
Thinks dad jokes are the pinnacle of comedy.
Will sometimes pick Tara up out of nowhere and just carry her around. Most of the time Tara doesn't even stop what he's doing/saying.

Part 3 of my favorite quotes/scenes from diary of a wimpy kid: rodrick rules <3
Rodrick aggressively trying to get eyeliner off his face. I mean just look at him you can't tell me you really think he's straight or cis
Rodrick quickly pretending to be asleep when his parents come................................like john kramer in the first saw movie getting ready to play dead on the floor (i can't help myself to mention two hyperfixations at once)
Rodrick pretending to be all emotional saying he got along with Greg all weekend. There's that big moment where Greg sacrifices his pride so Rodrick can play in the talent show and that's a big moment but I think it's way more character development as we see Rodrick slowly start being more emotional and affectionate with Greg, especially at the end
"Does he know about the d-o-r-e?" -Rodrick
Rowley watching the horror movie with his monkey🐒🐒🐒🐒🐒
The couple in the horror movie cause the woman is hotttttt
"My knee bone :(" -Rowley
The computer's background being a family photo

OK, I have some thoughts about Angie…
It feels like her reception is polarizing; she’s the most pointless and poorly handled character OR she’s badass and the best character of the entire series. I heard her inclusion is so Greg doesn’t just interact with boys, but what about Patty? He did interact with a few other girls who weren’t that major, so that reason falls flat. If anything, she interacts more with Rowley than she does with Greg; her relationship with the latter is almost nonexistent. Sure she becomes friends with both boys at the very end of the movie but for the most part she just pops up throughout the movie.
This isn’t directly towards Angie herself, but I’ve seen comments saying she’s the one who steers Greg in the right direction(really? I believe it was the piling of Greg’s bad decisions, fighting with Rowley then stepping up after the cheese incident. Greg did it himself), questioning why she wasn’t in the sequels, and that she was replaced by Holly who is lesser than. The third one kinda leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Angie is not from the source material(books), she’s an adaptation exclusive. Holly didn’t replace her, in fact Holly’s book debut was in Rodrick Rules or The Last Straw which were published in 2008 and 2009. The movie which was Angie’s debut came in 2010. If you just watched the movies and not read the books at all then I can see why people would think that.
I don’t hate Angie, she’s alright but I feel the movie would’ve been fine without her too. I feel she did have potential though.

I still would like to see your stuff about diary of a wimpy kid. hand it over 🫴🏽
oh boy um. okay. so i hauvent posted abt them in a long time but i imagine if youve followed me for long enuf you remember....and boy theres a lot to sayhere
so the context is that like when i was like 14..me & my at the time best friend became just like. obsessed with the diary of a wimpy kid movies. and im dead serious we were obsessed with them. we watched them all the time and talked about them for hours. like im straight up we loved these movies. my only possible defense for what was up with me is that i was really anorexic haha so i was really weird in the head. but anyways, obviously mostly people only talk about those movies because they like rodrick and well looks around yeah. but also ☝️ we were retired glee kids. my friend had previously been the biggest fan of the warblers from glee (who altogether have maybe 8 minutes of screentime) and we were retired newsies fans. we were really cringey fandom kids still & we were really really good at loving total nothing background characters. so !
if you pay attention. in the first movie rodricks band consists of 1 redhead kid on guitar, some emo kid, and some other random guy. in rodrick rules/dog days, his band is two guys named ben and chris (plus bill in rodrick rules and some random kid they found for dog days). chris doesnt have any lines i dont think but he is there a lot in rodrick rules. i dont have any evidence but im like 79% sure he was definitely high during the filming. and if he wasnt hes really good at acting it. ben does have lines though :-) in rodrick rules he and rodrick drive rowley and greg home and discuss what song theyre going to perform at the talent show and he says "dude we'll get to go backstage" at the party scene.
um. anyways yeah. we made them into what was pretty much our own characters and gave them a whole story which is so long and. in all honesty i just forgot so much of i make shit up all the time for it when i do stuff with it now. but its silly and long and to sum it up -> ben works at office max in a mall (i dont think they have office max in malls) and rodrick keeps coming in to print/copy band posters. one night he breaks the machine so he and ben talk and rodrick asks him to join his band. he says yes, so ben and chris join the band which is rodrick and matt (emo kid from the first movie, who guess what doesnt say a single thing. he just stands there and claps at the sorry women scene) also the big joke with matt was that he works at chuck e cheese and hes the guy who wears the mouse costume and ben rodrick and chris all keep going there and pissing him off and eventually he gets mad and yells at them and thats how they all meet. i think thats what we created him for basically. ben is rhythm guitar/vocals, chris is bass, rodrick is drums, and matt is lead guitar. they break up at the end of highschool and reunite after dropping out of college and get world famous haha. just think like really annoying music kids in like 2007 who actually have a successful band...(their song is rodrick rules is good...i promise go look it up).
but ya. its unfortunately such a personal story to me atp that i cant let it go even though im not even friends with that person anymore. and also i dont really care. its funny & i draw them so much now and also. rodrick rules is such a good fucking movie. i dont care its definitely in my top ten favorites im deadass. whatevs.
other noteable things from this is kitty. whos my oc completely but shes chris' girlfriend and we made her up because the whole joke was she pegged him to paramore. hides my face this is just who we were at the time. but i draw her more with my own ocs than i do with chris her boyfriend who is the only reason she exists. i think thats all. im sorry this is so long but ive never actually explained the whole thing. theres so much more but i literally wont stop if i start. go thru the doawk tag on my blog 4 further explanation or ask me...i love talking about them please please.... bonus drawing of them i just did for this👍
#this is so. i dont know if im embarrassed or not..#asks#also rodricks too short in that drawing but ohwell.#doawk#like.THABK YOU FOR ASKING TWIRLS MY HAIR....but also goddamn

Diary of Wimpy Kid: No Brainer is a terrible horrible, no good, very bad book
(P.S. I apologize deeply for this as it sounds like an 11th grade video essay. This is because *it is* an essay written by an 11th grader, so you get what you pay for.)
Part 1: Acknowledgement
Diary of a Wimpy Kid was a great book series. Greg Heffley was such a relatable-ish character to many people (especially to sociopathic 11 year olds like myself) – he spent a lot of time playing video games, he didn’t like his school, he was so awkwardly lonely it was cringey at points — but with all that the main point remained the same: Greg was a middle school kid with middle school problems. Sure, the books deviated with this at certain points, but it was grounded in a familiar setting and characters.
Additionally, the series had a good sense of pacing and story arcs: a theme gets set up at the beginning, Greg goes through life and shenanigans happen following said theme, and towards the end that theme gets resolved or ended in some way. This is shown in a lot of the early books–one of the examples I can think of from the top of my head is in Dog Days: it’s summer vacation and Greg wants to stay inside playing video games, shenanigans occur—his mom makes a book club, Greg falls out with Rowley (his best friend), Greg goes to the town pool, Greg goes to the beach—and it ends with Greg entering a video game competition (and losing to Rowley), and with summer ending. Within the themes story beats also merge together. Take for instance in Rodrick Rules with “Mom Bucks”: it’s introduced as a way to let Greg and Rodrick (Greg’s older brother) earn money. Later, Greg finds a lot of Mom Bucks from Rowley, and saves it carefully. Towards the end, Greg needs to do a History project, and buys an old project from Rodrick using said Mom Bucks.
Throughout these arcs, we can also see the characterization from these characters. Greg is an immature child, like everyone else in middle school, but has an idea of what goals are in the books at the very least. Rowley is Greg’s somewhat oblivious best friend, but can stand up for himself (like at The Ugly Truth, where Rowley and Greg had a falling out). Rodrick is Greg’s older brother, who’s mean at points but is just acting like a normal-ish teenager and is arguably better than Greg at navigating life. These characters aren’t by any means “deep”, this is a children’s book where the lens is through a main character who has been ~15 for the last decade. However, they aren’t forgotten or just used as means to an end for story purposes.
Just recently, however, I read the latest book, No Brainer. After reading it (it’s on Internet Archive, for free) and after thinking about it, it’s not the classic case of “it’s not for me anymore”, this book is critically awful.
Part 2: Resolution
This is the part where I summarize the book, and if it were a video essay I would show a few pages (and if I was a storytime animator I would animate scenes, but I can’t draw). This will be a major simplification, as I’m mostly getting the plot from memory. The main overarching story is that Greg’s school is going to get shut down because of low standardized math test scores. This is shown as the school is under budget, the teachers aren’t great, the students aren’t great, and so a new principal was instated. Then, in between this there are some shenanigans: a book is banned from the school, the principal establishes a meritocracy which is overthrown by the rich, Greg talks about an old teacher who taught fake latin and about another school which was started by a criminal, the school invented a new food type, fudge dogs, and the school gets used by advertisers and other people. By the end of the book, the school fails the tests and Greg and everyone else has to move to a new school. In Greg’s new school he gets a girlfriend by being able to tell the time, and later goes on a date with her and her dad, who was apparently the son of the criminal Greg was talking about earlier. The criminal is impressed by Greg because at the restaurant he could talk to the waiter in a new language because he was the old fake latin teacher, and he also cooked fudge dogs from his old school. The dad funds Greg’s old school, Greg gets broken up with, and he goes back to his old school (much to everyone’s disdain).
Notice how towards the end of the last paragraph it got messy and unintelligible? That brings me to my first point: the pacing and story arcs are badly connected. In the same amount of pages where Greg talks about brains and wonders why they can’t just learn on their own, he gets a girlfriend, impresses her dad, and gets their old school back–thereby fixing the main problem. Story arcs were also introduced and barely followed up on until the end, and by then they become fun cameos where the reaction is just “oh it’s that *thing* from the beginning, isn’t that funny?”. Fudge dogs and fake latin went from one-off jokes to story resolutions. In other cases, elements were just forgotten entirely and not followed up upon: advertisements in the school, the meritocracy group, brains learning on their own; these were just elements that felt like they should’ve been followed through the story, but they’re just there as poorly continued jokes.
The lack of grounded realism also breaks this book for me. The school has teachers who literally don’t teach anything, the school places advertisements everywhere in an attempt to get more money, the school somehow invents a new food and others attempt to steal it, the criminal’s son just so happens to be the father of the girl Greg dated, the school somehow starts a subscription program for better perks (how subtle, Jeff Kinney /s), and when the school shuts down there’s only two schools with one being a very sophisticated school and the other a poor public school on the other side of town. It's unlikely that any child could relate to this or how the characters react to their situation. While a lot of the early books didn’t exactly match universally with everyone growing up (I certainly didn’t go to a video game tournament and get my hand smashed with a mallet while I was camping there), but at the very least it *felt* like it could be real and tangible. The book felt like a series of jokes that the author came up with, and hastily shoved together without any sense of plot or substance.
Lastly, a lot of characters were just missing or not mainly present in the book. Rowley wasn’t there (save for a few pages), Rodrick wasn’t there, Manny (Greg’s younger brother) wasn’t there; minor characters, such as Holly Hills or Chirag Gupta (my beloved) weren’t there either. These characters and their interactions with Greg were what ultimately pushed a lot of the plot from the older books forward: in Book 1 it was Rowley and Greg’s friendship, in Book 2 it was the dynamic and tension between Rodrick and Greg. Here, it feels as though the book just throws plot elements at the main characters inorganically; in the context of the story, at best it makes somewhat logical sense, but from a literary perspective it just feels like a mish-mash of plot elements and jokes.
While this book satirizes and points out a lot of problems in modern society: the overshadowing of money over merit (the principal literally gives a paid subscription for better perks), advertisements, inequality due to capitalism (there are, for some reason, only two other schools, one being rich and the other poor), and the major problems in the education system, the book’s quality does not make up for whatever message the author was trying to tell.
Part 3: Pursuance
(This is the required part of the essay for school. Skip here if you don’t wanna read a really preachy and a very “16 year old on Twitter” sounding message)
Ultimately, this book lacks a lot of what made the older books shine. This feels like another meaningless cash-grab by the author on an established series. It’s poorly written, yes, but considering it has the name brand “Diary of a Wimpy Kid”, it’ll still be sold well enough. The lack of depth and substance the book has can be excused with a handwave: “it’s just a children’s book, the curtains are just blue, deal with it.” Why bother trying if it works, or if the complaints still result in a paycheck? Why does anything have to be good, when it can just make money?
This book series is by no means “art”. It is not culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant. It is, to many people, a children’s book they read when they were 11 years old. However, even this small legacy remains important to some. “Why try?”, you say? Well why don’t you? Even a stupid series about a sociopathic kid feels important to me, and it is disheartening seeing its quality be diminished in the present.
Part 4: Psalm
I hope this series gets better. I hope that the plot doesn’t have a falling action so thin it feels nonexistent. I hope some of the characters come back. I hope that the jokes actually land the next time. I hope that the story arcs actually connect this time instead of intersect awkwardly. I hope that others can see how great this stupid, children’s book was.

Proving that Stranger Things 4 (2022) is simply a retelling of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules (2011)
aka the greatest film of our generation
You better hold on to your butts, brochachos because you’re in for a wild ride here.
Exhibit A: The roller rink incident
It’s no secret that these scenes are similar but I don’t think I’ve seen anyone talk about just how similar they actually are. These scenes are practically identical and you cannot convince me otherwise.
To start: A couple of nefarious DJs put on fast/loud music with the intention of intimidating the target in the middle of the rink (on the top we have ST and on the bottom we’ve got RR)
Then the target is skated around and humiliated while the music plays:
Ok, seems like pretty standard bullying at a roller rink. Not enough to make this much fuss over. But wait, there’s more. A third party intervenes to stop the music (in ST it’s Mike and in RR it’s Greg’s mom):
But the humiliation continues after the music stops and the lights come on. El gets milkshaked and Greg has to be bridal carried off the rink by his father:
Excuse me Duffer bros, what is this? But just you wait, there's more
Exhibit B: Peeping tomfoolery
While we’re on the roller rink I might as well address the other similarity that happens here (at least in ST, it’s at a completely different place in RR). Both Mike and Greg enter a woman’s restroom for innocent reasons, Mike to find El and Greg to hide from everyone at the nursing home, but are then forced out of it by the women already in there
Ok maybe not the exact same situation, but similar enough that it feels right to include it.
Exhibit C: The failed presentation
Now for what I consider one of my strongest pieces of evidence alongside the roller rink incident. I honestly don’t know how this hasn’t been talked about before because it’s almost completely identical. Let me set the scene for you: the characters are presenting history projects in class. The presentation before our main character is called up is an extremely well done powerpoint-esque project that is praised by the teacher
Then our main character is called up and encouraged by their friend who is sitting next to them
Our main character starts with their project and it’s immediately obvious that they didn’t do the assignment correctly, much to the amusement of their peers
Especially the “mean girl” (I fully believe that everything Patty did to Greg was well deserved because he’s annoying but she’s presented as the antagonist so my point still stands)
That is the exact same shot. Duffer brothers I know what you did, these scenes are the same
Exhibit D: The van
What’s the main mode of transportation in RR and ST4? Oh yeah that’s right it’s an iconic and recognizable van driven by the older brother of one of the main characters and their friend
With the older characters riding in the front while the younger sibling and their friend are in the back:
Mike and Will are having a moment while Rowley’s catching some real airtime there. Iconic
Exhibit E: The concert
Now maybe this one is a bit of a reach but I’m going for it. The grand finale of both ST4 and RR includes a concert. ST features Master of Puppets by Metallica which sounds suspiciously similar to...
Explöded Diper by Löded Diper. Obviously Master of Puppets came first and Explöded Diper is based off of it, but why did the Duffer bros choose that song to be their grand finale instead of countless other 80s metal songs? Was it because it happened to be a popular song when the show takes place or was it because it has ties to Rodrick Rules? I know which one I believe
Exhibit F: Men with bangs
Stranger Things has a male character who has bangs, is a guitarist in a rock band, and hangs out with people much younger than him?
So does Rodrick Rules (Bill):
Not much else to say here only that at their core they are the same (sorry Eddie but it’s true)
Exhibit G: “Deny, deny, deny”
The theme of lying/denying the truth is a central motif in RR. In fact, the phrase “deny, deny, deny” is used frequently throughout the movie.
Who’s out there doing a lot of denying in ST? Oh yeah, it’s Will:
Conclusion:
Does this mean anything? I don’t know, man. All I know is that the Duffer bros have absolutely seen the American cinematic masterpiece Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules and have some explaining to do because not only one, but several moments in their own show are a little too similar here and I would like an explanation
And with that I will leave you with this:
#this is only half a joke#stranger things#diary of a wimpy kid#rodrick rules#byler#not actually byler but you guys will get it

The next Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie!
And I got the actual right movie first try this time.
I don’t think I’ve seen this one before.
Never mind I got the wrong movie. But because I can’t read and picked the third one instead. Whoops. Though I still don’t think I’ve seen this one.
What is with teenage boys in movies/tv who have secret handshakes? It’s stupid.
The multiple magic wands is funny. Let’s hope Greg is better in this one.
Is the other boys making fun of Greg for his speedo supposed to be a play on them making fun of his dick size?
I remeber Holly from the books. Also love the magic song going on in the background.
The fact that Holly doesn’t have a voice in Greg’s daydream is perfect for the way that he doesn’t care about how she is as a person he just cares about her looks.
Love the idea of Rodrick being a dick to Greg and ruining his chance with Holly. Making him more nervous. Beautiful.
Susan is just as much of a milf in this one.
Rodrick set Greg up with the slow song idea and then rips the bandaid off and ruins it taking over before Greg can even ask Holly go dance.
You can tell that Rodrick didn’t plan for Susan to come up to the board but he loves it. He’s definatly thinking to himself, “Oh my god Susan you are doing better then I ever could. Thank you for embarrassing him more then his brother ever could.”
I do remember Mom Bucks. I probably read this book. But I don’t think I watched this movie.
Still love Patty
You can tell this teacher had Rodrick. I’ve never experienced that before. And never will. My youngest sister however. She might. With at least one older sister.
I might have watched this one. I think I remember the talent show stuff.
Are you kidding? The person helping a magician is usually a very hot and scantily clad women.
The rich parents adopting Greg thing? Greg would have loved Wattpad.
Rodrick really does look like the type to be bad at driving.
Come on Greg at least pretend to like the toy from the child. You can ditch it later. Also going viral thing is so jnterestjng. It’s so much easier now. And Kesha my queen in this movie? So they cut out her getting drunk off her ass at clubs but leave in her getting tipsy.
Sometimes you should lie Greg.
Holy shit they actually go to church.
Rodrick is so funny for pranking him like that. I love Rodrick. He’s such an asshole.
They are definatly Catholic. Also Rodrick should not be allowed to take Communion.
Rodrick would never have people over Frank. You said no. Why would he ever? Clearly Rodrick is liked enough if that many people find out. Once again Rodrick is a king for this shit. What an asshole locking his brother in the basement.
Child no know how to work old phone
They were definatly drinking at that party btw. Like beer drinking.
I do love when the rough and asshole guy is scared of his mom.
Greg you have at least another day with Rodrick. Don’t fuck it up. He will kill your before your mom gets back. I don’t think he cares about jail.
If this weren’t a kids movie Rodrick would go into detail about all of the murder he would fucking do if anyone finds out.
You really can’t call if you’re dead.
These boys are totally drunk. I also love that both Greg and Rodrick were embarrassed by Rowley. And can I say that I love how I don’t think they’ve made a Rowley is fat joke except in terms of the chicks dig him.
I see why Greg is such a piece of shit. It’s his brother.
Rowley can’t lie for the life of him are you kidding.
Bill is hot in a weird man down on his luck type of way.
Kids movies horror is so odd. Because at The Foot would be a very popular bad movie and I know it. Cheesy and weird and everyone loves a horror movie with a weird scary thing. Like the sofa one.
I love Susan.
Ohhhh Greg. Guilting your mom to not punish either you or your brother for the party.
Love Rodricks rules. They’re pretty good.
The teacher is bound to know that it’s Rodricks paper. I have a feeling that it’s obvious. Also he clearly doesn’t like Rodrick.
I knew it was just something already plagiarized.
All I’m saying is that I can see Greg and Patty getting together when they’re older.
That note is defiantly not from Holly.
That was stupid.
This scene of Rodrick and Greg going to the gas station to eat and everything is kind of gay.
Is this the what are you doing in this picture Rodrick scene? It totally is.
The fact that you have their parents fighting and the brothers fighting. The fact that Susan and Greg are reflected as the same and Rodrick and Frank are. Beautiful.
Yet another weird break up scene that’s not technically a break up scene. But this time it’s the brothers. These movies are so gay! Stop trying to pretend you’re not at least bi Greg.
The genuine emotion in Rodricks voice at not being allowed to perform in the talent show. I feel so bad for him. The fact that they feel like a couple who doesn’t have a good relationship but pretends they do.
I’ve never had the kind of relationship with my sisters where you put hair remover in her shampoo. If my sister did that I would literally kill her in her sleep.
I love Rodrick being nice to Greg but also him being terrible to Greg. Both are great.
If it was my crush seeing me in my underwear or my diary being read to her I would prefer the journal. And the song being played at this point is so good.
Babe Rodrick is definatly sneaking off to be in the talent show and you know it.
Go off Patty!!
I mean Patty’s good Rodrick but not that good.
Their parents are so oblivious for not noticing that they both left. Where’s Susan?
Greg trying to make sure his brother gets to play with his band is so cute. Also I don’t know if Rodrick would do the same.
The assistant outfit isn’t even like slutty or anything. Just stupid.
Is Rowley going to piss himself?
Oh that poor bird. Oh never mind it’s fine.
I think you can tell how the trick works Rowley. Especially when it falls apart.
Love a supportive mom.
Loded Diaper is kind of good.
I hope Bill shows up in later movies. He’s so ficking hot and funny.
Why are the break up and make scenes in these movies so homoerotic? What is it about straight male relationships?
Pretty good movie. I can’t tell you if I liked this one or the last one more though. I need to find somewhere I can re read these books. Might have to buy them which feels embarrassing. But for Rodrick? I’d do it. Though looking them up reminded me about Dork Diaries which I kind of want to re read. I read at least the first one of those.
#coming out of the woods#serious makes me want to write fan fic#obviously incest ones#there aren’t enough Rodrick x Greg on ao3#I’ll try to change that

Too Far
pairing: rodrick heffley x gn!reader ; greg x platonic!reader (but it's mostly a sweet family fic between rodrick and greg)
warnings: cussing, rodrick thinks greg ran away/is missing, rodrick's probably ooc, uh idk what else
word count: 1.7k (why is this the longest thing i’ve written-)
summary: (takes place during rodrick rules) y/n has been a good neighbor and friend for a while now. either of the heffley boys can go to them for anything.
a/n: im a strong believer in the fact that rodrick has a soft side and he truly cares about his little brother. he doesn't show it a lot but it's there. i love rodrick so much so i wanted to try writing for him. sorry if it's ooc but i dunno, i like it. let me know what you think :)
--
You were watching tv, no clue what just happened in the house down the street, when there was a knock on the door.
You got up, groaning. Who would be here this late?
You opened the door, somewhat annoyed, until you saw that it was... Greg?
It was Greg, the young boy from down the street, with tears in his eyes.
You immediately wrapped an arm around him, leading him inside, “Woah, kid, what’s wrong?”
As the two of you sat back down on the couch, he choked out an answer, “R-Rodrick.”
“What did he do this time? Want me to beat his ass for you?"
A small smile crossed your face when you were able to make the boy chuckle.
He explained that him and Rodrick had a great night together but things went bad once they got home. He said that their parents found the pictures from the party last week, which you had attended, and both the boys got it trouble. But that wasn't why Greg was crying. He was crying because Rodrick was disappointed in him and said some hurtful things.
You didn't push any further. Greg was a tough kid, most of the time, so whatever Rodrick said must've been really bad.
"Wait," you said after a few minutes, "Do your parents know you're here?"
"N-no. I snuck out."
"Greg, you can't do that," you said sternly. You weren't angry, just worried.
"You and Rodrick both sneak out all the time," He tried to reason.
"That's different. We're both old enough to take care of ourselves. No offense, but you're still just a kid. If your parents find out they're gonna be worried sick."
"Can I just stay for a while longer? Please? Besides if they find out I'm gone, they'll probably check here first."
It was true. Greg and Rowley would come to your house sometimes, just to have a different place to hang out. Your parents were away a lot of the time so it worked out.
You were Greg's babysitter when he was in 5th and 6th grade. Ms. Heffley knew you were a responsible kid and she didn't exactly want Rodrick in charge. Now he's in 7th and he's trusted a bit more so you didn't have to take care of him anymore. During that time was when you and Greg got close. The two of you became friends.
You had gotten pretty close with Rodrick too. Especially since you had a lot of the same classes in school. The two of you had similar interests so you would hang out sometimes.
Of course, you couldn't say no to Greg.
You two sat and watched whatever he wanted to watch. You told him that he could have whatever he wanted from the kitchen, it didn't matter. He immediately searched for ice cream, making you laugh.
Soon there was another knock on the door. This time you looked out the peep hole.
"It's Rodrick," you whispered to Greg.
"I'm not here!" He whispered back, running up the stairs.
You waited until he was all the way upstairs, before you opened the door, "Rodrick? Hey, what's up?"
He looked back at you with panicked eyes, "(Y/n), you gotta helped me."
You ushered him in, just as you had done with his younger brother not long ago, and you two sat down. "Of course, what is it?"
"Well I- me and Greg got into a fight I guess? I said some stuff I shouldn't have. I- Fuck, (Y/n), I messed up... I took it too far."
You gently put a hand on his knee, "Hey, relax. You're okay. What do you mean you took it too far?"
"I told him that... I said 'you might be my brother, but you'll never be my friend'. W-We got in trouble for something and I got mad at him. Obviously I don't mean it, i-it just kinda slipped out."
"Okay, well, we both how Greg is. I'm sure he'll understand if you just tell him and apologize. You two will be fine," you offered him a soft smile.
To your surprise, he shook his head.
"That's not what I need your help with."
"Oh," was all you could say.
"I went to check on him a while ago because he's never been in this much trouble, I wanted to make sure he was okay. Mom and Dad were already asleep. I- I went into his room and... and he was gone. (Y/n), I don't know what to do."
You pulled him into a hug, him quickly latching onto you. You gently ran your fingers through his hair. "It's okay Rodrick. I'll help you find him."
Of course, you knew where he was. But you wouldn't give away Greg's spot if he didn't want you too.
Rodrick looked up at you, "You will?"
"Of course, let me get a jacket and we'll go."
You went up the stairs and into your room, where Greg was sitting on your bed.
"Dude, he-"
"I heard all of it. I understand."
"Oh good," you said, waking to your closet to get a jacket, "So, do you forgive him?"
"Of course, he's my brother," The two of you smiled.
As you pulled on your jacket, you asked, "Well what do you wanna do? He's ready to go searching for you."
"Maybe you two can drive around for a while and come back, and i'll just be on the sidewalk around here? I don't know, I just don't him to get at you for lying." He suggested.
You thought about it, nodding.
"Okay... but be careful, alright? Stay in here for like 15 minutes, then you can go out."
You went back downstairs and grabbed your keys. Rodrick followed you out and into your car.
"He couldn't have gone far, right?" He asked, bouncing his knee up and down.
"Nah, i'm sure he stayed close. Lets just check the neighborhood, yeah?" You said.
You drove around, one hand on the steering wheel and the other on the center console where Rodrick was holding it tightly.
--
"H-he can't be gone. (Y/n), he can't!"
Of course, you haven't "found" Greg yet. Rodrick was freaking out.
You pulled over and pressed a soft kiss to his knuckles, his hand still in yours.
"Hey, Rod, it's okay. We'll find him, I promise."
Rodrick shook his head, his eyes becoming glossy. You felt bad for letting him believe Greg was really gone for so long, but you told Greg you'd stick with his plan. And you were true to your word.
"What if we don't?" His voice cracked.
"We will, I promise. But it's getting late and you should rest. We'll go looking for him first thing in the morning. I bet you he probably went to Rowley's house."
"Yeah... yeah, that makes sense," Rodrick nodded. "Thank you."
"You know I'd do anything for you. For Greg, too. I love that kid."
Rodrick smiled, hearing you speak so fondly of his younger brother. In that moment, he knew everything would work out.
You started driving back to the cul-de-sac you guys lived on. Rodrick leaned his head against the window and started to dose off, his hand still holding yours tightly.
Then you saw it. Greg walking on the sidewalk, just like he said he would.
"Rodrick! Dude!" You shook him awake.
"Huh? What?" He woke up, startled.
"Look!" You pointed over to Greg while pulling over.
Rodrick saw him and as soon as you stopped the car, he opened the door and stumbled out.
"Greg!" He called out to his younger brother.
Before Greg could even turn around, Rodrick had him engulfed in a hug. The display of affection obviously took Greg by surprised.
"Don't ever do that again," Rodrick paused, trying to come up with some sort of insult, "... dumbass."
"I won't, I promise."
You watched as the two brothers smiled at each other. A rare occurrence for sure, but a nice one.
Rodrick lightly pushed Greg towards the car and they both got in.
"Hey (Y/n)." Greg said from the back seat.
"Hey, kid, glad you're safe," You smiled back at him.
"Yeah."
"Had this guy close to bursting into tears," You snickered, gesturing towards Rodrick and trying to lighten the mood.
"Don't tell him that!" Rodrick mumbled as he nudged your arm. This only made you and Greg giggle more.
You saw a smile form on Rodrick's lips, despite him trying to hide it. Laughter was, indeed, contagious.
You poked his cheek, making him chuckle.
You started to drive towards the Heffley house, the mood in the car now light and playful. You pulled into their driveway and unlocked the doors.
"Go inside, twerp. I'll catch up." Rodrick said.
"Okay," Greg smiled, getting out and heading towards the door.
"(Y/n)... thank you." Rodrick said, his voice softer as he looked down at his shoes.
"For what?"
"I dunno, everything. I mean, who would get up in the middle of the night and help some loser look for their little brother?"
"Oh c'mon, Rodrick. I'd go to the ends of the earth for you or that kid. It's no big deal, really." You said.
"It is to me. Thank you," He finally looked up at you, and you could see the sincerity in his eyes.
"Anytime."
"Can I- um... can I try something?" He asked. His eyes darted away from you for a split second.
"Well, uh, yeah. Sure." You said, curious to as what wants to do.
Suddenly, Rodrick put his hand on your cheek and leaned in. You felt his lips press against yours softly and closed your eyes. The kiss lasted only a little bit, but it felt much longer.
You couldn’t lie. It felt amazing. Kissing Rodrick just felt so... right. It’s like your lips were made for each other.
He pulled back a little and you smiled, laughing softly.
"Is- Is that a good thing?" He asked.
"I dunno, you tell me."
You leaned in and kissed him again. He was quick to kiss back. Eventually you leaned back.
"You should get inside," Another kiss, "Don't want you getting in more trouble."
Rodrick's usual confidence came back and he smirked, "If it's for you, it's worth it."
"Shut up!" You laughed.
He chuckled and pecked your cheek, before walking to the door.
As you pulled into your own driveway, you smiled.
Your relationship with Rodrick Heffley had changed tonight. But you know it had changed for the better.

18- Maybe nice boys do exist
Completed, 26 chapters, “So, you’re the babysitter, huh ?” Rodrick Heffley x black fem reader
Standing in front of the Heffley's front door, you for some reason felt anxious. Tonight for the first time ever you were babysitting. Well, maybe not for the first time ever, but you highly doubt watching Faith counted. Either way, tonight would be your first time babysitting Greg and Manny.
The door swings open, and you're greeted by a surprising, pleasant site. Susan hadn't told you why she needed you to babysit, but looking at her, you could tell she was going out. Her hair was down, draping onto her black dress. The ends curled and brushed through. Her makeup was how it always was, natural except for her eyes and lips.
“Hi.” She greets you with a smile.
“Hi, Mrs. Heffley, you look great.”
“Thank you.” She says, stepping aside to let you in.
“Date night, huh?”
“First one in a while. Let's just say you and Rodrick may have inspired Frank.”
You go to speak but decide to stay silent instead.
“Frank!” She yells. “Babysitters here.”
“You're the babysitter.” Greg said skeptical. “Great.”
“Nice to see you too, Greg.”
Behind him was Frank holding Manny. Your jaw almost dropped when you saw what he was wearing. It wasn't anything over the top, but it was the first time you'd ever seen the man in a suit. Ironically, he usually dressed like Rodrick did on your “date”.
They took a few minutes to lay some ground rules and explain some things. Like making sure Greg did his homework and didn't stay on the phone with Rowley too late.
“We'll only be gone for a few hours, but If we're gone for longer than that, Rodrick can just take you home.”
“NO I WON'T” Rodrick yells from his room.
“YES YOU WILL.” Susan yells back.
“Besides that, don't give Manny any candy, or he will be up for hours.”
“Got it.”
You watched how Susan eyes were trained on Frank's wallet. Making sure you were paid well. He handed you the money before taking Susan's hand and walking out the door. You closed is shut behind them and went to the living room where Manny was sitting.
The first hour is spent, in all honesty, pretty boring. You should have been thankful, boring meant easy, which meant easy money. But maybe you just expected more from watching Rodrick's brothers. Like being paid to basically hang out with him and yet you hadn't seen him yet.
You snap out of your thoughts and go back to coloring with Manny, deciding to enjoy the boring. After thirty minutes, Greg decided to make an appearance downstairs.
“You're smart, right ?” He asks, sitting beside you.
“Yes. Why?”
He doesn't say anything else, instead, he just holds his homework over your drawing.
“Could I at least get a please.”
He gives you a confused face, telling it you wasn't gonna happen.
“Fine.” You say, setting your drawing on the table.
You take a moment to look over Greg's homework. It was fairly simple, mostly he was in middle school. He had finished the front, which were straight forward questions. Aka, no need to show your work. But the back was where he struggled, you could see the layers of the erased writing.
You answered half the questions and gave him the answers. Thinking he would pay attention to what you did and apply it to the other half. Instead, he just copied what you wrote onto his paper and waited for you to do the other half. You explain the formula to him and a few ways check to his answers.
Now, knowing you would do the rest for him, Greg actually did the problems. They took him a few good minutes, but when he was done all his answers were right.
“See, not that hard.”
“Wow, Rodrick was right, you are smart.”
“Thanks.” You say with a small smile.
…
“I'm starving.” You say, opening the Heffley's fridge.
A part of you felt a little wrong, rummaging through someone kitchen. But you'd been suppressing your hungry for a while, and you were over it.
“There's frozen pizza's in the freezer.”
“Do you want peperoni only or meat supreme ?” You ask the two boys.
You were all in agreement and went with peperoni. You read the instructions carefully before putting it in the oven and setting a timer. You had a history with fucking up when it came to frozen pizza's.
The pizza only had a few minutes left, and the aroma had filled the kitchen. It caught Rodrick's attention and prompted him downstairs. He was caught by surprise to see you in his house.
“So you're the babysitter, huh.” He says, a wicked smile on his face.
“Nice to see you too.” You say, mimicking his smile.
“Move over” He says before taking a seat next to you.
You roll your eyes playfully and get up, Rodrick taking a seat.
“I said move over, not leave.”
“Shut up, I need to pee.”
He mumbles a tmi and turns the tv on. While you're gone, your phone rings. Out of laziness, Rodrick ignores it. It doesn't ring for too long before Manny turns it, annoyed by the sound. When you come back, you settle into the couch, sitting next to Rodrick.
It didn't take long for smoke to fill the kitchen. Rising and filling the air, the strong smell slowly seeping into the rest of the house.
“Do you smell that ?”
Rodrick ask right before the sound of the blaring fire alarm fills your eyes. Everyone is sent into a panic, on high alert from the sound and now smell. You and Rodrick run into the kitchen to find smoke coming from the oven. No words are spoken, there's no time for it. Rodrick turns the oven off, turn the dial so fast it snapped off. He opens the oven fully to take the pizza out while you opened windows.
Giving the smoke time to empty the house, you all go outside. Thankfully, it wasn't too cold.
“So much for pizza.”
“Fire.” Manny says, his hands still over his ears.
“Your parents are gonna pissed.” You say sitting on the steps.
Rodrick takes a seat next to you, and he could see disappointment written all over your face.
“y/n it's fine. We got the pizza out and the smokes gone.” He pauses “Mostly.”
“Yea but what about the smell.” Greg says.
“Stinky.” Manny adds.
“My first time babysitting and I fill the house with smoke, great.”
“At least you didn't burn it down.” Rodrick jokes, trying to lighten the situation. Instead, it earns him a punch in the arm.
Too anxious to go back into the house, you force everyone to stay outside. Tired of the cold, you all sit inside Rodrick's van.
“I'm still starving.” You complain.
“Same.”
“Me too.”
He wasn't sure if it was the cold or his empty stomach, but an idea pops into Rodrick's head.
“Where are we going ?” You ask, sliding around in the back of Rodrick van.
“We're getting pizza.”
“Really.”
“Yea.” He says with a shrug.
You give him a suspicions look while he drives. His eyes stay on the road, occasionally looking at you from the rearview mirror.
You wouldn't consider Rodrick the best person. He was considerably good by standards for a white teenage boy. But then again, those standards aren't exactly high. Regardless, by your standards, Rodrick was an actually kinda sweet. At least he had been lately.
“God, I've been craving 7-eleven for weeks.”
“Trust me, I know. You've been talking about it like every day.”
“Then why did it take you so long to take me to get some.”
“Do I need to remind you we're only here because you filled my house with smoke.”
You stay silent and take a sip of your large Slurpee, enjoying the atmosphere of the strip mall parking lot. Your legs hung over the back of the van, the doors wide open. Rodrick watches you as you watch as cars pass. He stares at your satisfied smile, happy to make you happy. A deep sigh leaves him, knowing he has something to get off his chest.
“Can I tell you something?”
Rodrick's voice is quite, so quiet it almost catches you by surprise.
You nod your head, yes.
“Listen, I know I've been apologizing a lot lately, but I feel like I kinda left some stuff out.”
“Like what?”
“Well.” He pauses to gather his thoughts.
You watch more intensely as Rodrick speaks. Both of your brown eyes, dark from the atmosphere. He explained that he knew you were already not feeling good, but Heather, who was in the closet with him, wasn't. She was all over him saying wild things and in return he did the same. Letting his drunken thoughts about you speak for him.
When he saw you outside of the closet, and you were so opposite, it hurt. He thought maybe you didn't mean anything you said. Maybe you were embarrassed to be seen coming out of the closet with him. Maybe even embarrassed to be with him at the party at all, knowing the only reason he was invited was because of you. He acted on all these assumptions and was rude to you, inevitably leaving you to find a ride.
“It was fucked up to leave you there, I was stupid and drunk, and I won't happen again”
You both took a minute to process everything he said. It was a lot not just information but honesty. Rodrick was being vulnerable with you. He wasn't high or being forced to by his mom. He was being genuine.
“What exactly did you say to Heater in the closet?”
“Nothing important.” He lies.
“Promise.” You ask, voice weary.
“Promise.”

Partners - R.H.
pairing: Rodrick Heffley x fem!reader
genre: fluff-ish
warnings: i’m not really sure where this is going yet, but i rewatched diary of a wimpy kid rodrick rules, and i needed to write something haha
word count: 1,555
request: no
a/n: i know this isn’t Corpse, but i promise i’m working on it :( i hope you guys can enjoy Rodrick for now. i live for Rodrick being a softie behind closed doors.
Rodrick Heffley was the definition of “bad boy”. After enduring school with him for 5 years, it was clear that he had no ambition or goals in life besides being the drummer of his god awful band. Unfortunately, I got stuck being his physics lab partner our junior year. On the first day of school, he sat down next to me with a pencil, drumsticks, and an empty backpack -- shocker. “Hey, so I’m not really into the whole physics thing so… you can handle everything right?” I rolled my eyes, sighing heavily.
“Can’t say I’m surprised, Heffley.”
“That’s so sweet that you know my name,” he smirked. I set my pencil down to look over at him. “Can’t believe a scholar like you would know anything about someone like me.”
“By someone like you, you mean a low life, right?” He smacked his hand against his chest in mock pain.
“You hurt me, Y/N.”
“Good.”
*****************************************************************************************
The rest of the semester went exactly as you’d expect, me doing all the work, and Rodrick doing nothing. I didn’t mind too much, the work wasn’t hard for me, and let’s face it… Rodrick was hot. I got to spend the days he actually showed up for class stealing glances at him in mock annoyance as he drummed on the desk or really anything he could reach. The day before Thanksgiving break, he showed up to class with a tray of something in his hands. “Wow, Heffley, I didn’t take you for a baker.” He rolled his eyes, plopping the tray in front of me.
“I’m not. My mom wanted me to give you this as a thank you for keeping me passing in this class.” I looked over at him, his usual energetic demeanor replaced with a more sullen one.
“Oh, that’s really nice. Thank you.” He hummed in response, never meeting my eyes. Was he failing his other classes? Probably. With how little he showed up to school, it’s hard to imagine him passing. “Do you need a tutor?”
“What?” He finally met my gaze, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“You made it sound like you aren’t doing well in your other classes.” He scoffed, a frown forming on his face. “I would be happy to help you in your other classes. I won’t do the work for you, but I can help.”
“And why would you do that,” he snapped harshly, catching me off guard.
“I was just trying to help you, asshole.” I turned to face away from him, continuing the assignment in front of me for the rest of the class. I could feel his eyes burning into the side of my head, but I didn’t dare look over. The bell rang eventually, and I grabbed my stuff and the brownies, stopping before I left the room to turn back to Rodrick. “Tell your mom thank you for me.” Thankfully, that was the last period of the day so I could grab my stuff and walk home.
“Y/N!” I heard from across the parking lot. Rodrick was rushing over to me, dodging a couple cars on his way. “Y/N, hey.”
“Can I help you, Heffley?” He sighed, rubbing his hands together.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to be harsh earlier.” My eyes widened in surprise. Rodrick Heffley was apologizing to someone? “My mom has been on my case about my grades, and you’re the only reason I’m passing physics, I shouldn’t have been mean to you, and I’m sorry.” My mouth was agape, still in shock at what just came out of his mouth.
“Uh… No, it’s cool. I’ll see you after break.” His hand gripped my shoulder quickly, preventing me from leaving.
“My uh… My mom also wanted to see if you would like to come over for dinner sometime. You don’t have to, but she’s making chicken parm tonight, and she makes a killer one.” I stared up at him, this weird vulnerable side of Rodrick staring right back, and I couldn’t help what came out of my mouth.
“I’d love to.” He smiled wide, taking my books from my arms and leading me to his van. Loded Diper… What a dumb name for a band. It’s not even grammatically correct. I shook off my thoughts and slid into the front seat as he started it up.
“We have to go pick up my little brother.” I nodded. I could tell he was driving slower and safer than he usually does, I had heard horror stories of him in this van. But I didn’t mind, it was nice to not have to walk home, and the music that was playing quietly from the radio was pleasant. We stopped in front of the middle school and he rolled down my window to yell at two kids who were standing out front. “Get in, twerp.”
“Why?”
“Because mom said I had to pick you up from school, something about a meeting with her editor.” Both kids sighed, opening the door to get in the back. I glanced back and saw there were no seats.
“Are you insane?” Rodrick looked confused. “There’s no seats! They could seriously get hurt.” He sighed, telling them to come sit up front with us.
“For safety, or whatever,” he mumbled. I rolled my eyes, smiling at the ginger kid.
“Hi, I’m Y/N.” He smiled back, shaking my hand.
“I’m Rowley, Greg’s best friend.” The rest of the ride was pretty silent, all of us piling out as soon as we stopped. “Do you wanna play with us, Y/N,” Rowley asked excitedly.
“No, she’s not here to hang out with you two.” I glared up at him, elbowing his side.
“I’d love to play with you guys.” They led me inside where a man and a baby were seated in the living room.
“Oh, hi. I’m Frank, Rodrick’s dad. You must be…”
“Y/N, physics lab partner.” His face lit up as he shook my hand.
“Oh, it is so nice to meet you, we’ve heard a lot about y--”
“Dad!” I giggled as Rodrick shook his head at his father, telling him to stop whatever he was saying. “Uh, we’re gonna go hang out upstairs, let us know when dinner is ready!” He was yanking my arm before I could protest the movement.
“Hey, I told your brother’s friend I would hang out with them,” I said at the top of the stairs. He looked up the second set of stairs, which I assume led to his room, and sighed.
“Fine. That’s Greg’s room over there, but I’m gonna come get you in like, ten minutes. Deal?” I walked away happily, knocking before entering Greg’s room where he and Rowley were.
“Hey guys,” I greeted.
“Hey Y/N! We were about to play Go Fish! Do you want to play?”
“Oh yeah,” I smiled, sitting on the floor with them. We played for a little while before Greg put his cards down.
“So, are you like, Rodrick’s girlfriend?” I laughed, shaking my head.
“No, we’re just lab partners.”
“So you don’t like him, right?”
“I wouldn’t say that… I don’t actually spend that much time with him.”
“Well I do, and I can tell you that you wouldn’t like him. You’re too nice for him,” Greg stated.
“Thanks, Greg. But I don’t think I’m your brother’s type anyway.” The door slammed open quickly and Rodrick sauntered in. “Come to kidnap me,” I asked. He smiled sarcastically down at me and I sighed, setting my cards down. “Sorry guys. We can hang out more some other time.” They both waved at me as I followed Rodrick up to his room. It was dark and had disco balls and stuff everywhere, but I could tell he tried to clean up a little bit. “Cool room,” I said, sitting on the bed.
“Thanks…” He was standing awkwardly in the middle of the room.
“Are you okay,” I laughed. He chuckled lightly, sitting down next to me on the bed.
“Yeah, I’m good. Just… I’m still really sorry about how I snapped at you.” He seemed genuinely sorry, and I smiled up at him.
“You don’t have to keep apologizing.” He smiled quickly, meeting my eyes. “I know you’re probably stressed about your grades. I meant it earlier when I said I would help you.”
“I know you did,” he whispered, leaning in closer to me. Oh my god, is this happening? Is Rodrick Heffley about to kiss me? The door opened abruptly and a woman stepped in. Rodrick and I leaned apart quickly as the woman smiled.
“Oh, you must be Y/N! We’ve heard so much about you.” I grinned, standing to shake her hand.
“Hi, you must be Mrs. Heffley.”
“Oh please, honey, you can call me Susan.” She kept smiling, looking between me and Rodrick. “Well, uh, dinner is ready.”
“Okay, mom. We’ll be down in a second,” Rodrick said through gritted teeth. She laughed lightly before shutting the door. I felt him standing behind me before he set his hands on my shoulders. “Sorry.”
“That’s okay,” I said, turning to face him. “But if that chicken parm is as good as you said it is, I wanna get down there.” He chuckled breathily, running his hands down my arms and to my hands.
“Yeah, let’s go.”

Part 4 and final part of my favorite quotes/scenes from diary of a wimpy kid: rodrick rules
Every time Rowley is the only one clapping and says "yay Greg!!!'
Chirag going to ridiculous lengths to pretend to be Holly
Again with Rodrick's character development, him seeing Greg sad about the note/Holly/Chirag incident and taking him out to have fun
The comical reactions to the fake vomit
Character development!!!!!!! Greg opening up to Rodrick about Holly
"Chicks act like they're not into me but they are. I know they are" -Rodrick. Again, they have to be pathetic
The photos part 2 and the comical (take a shot every time I say comical in this series) photo of Rodrick pouring soda in the cups because this is a family movie and we can't have any innuendo with those red solo cups
The argument about the party
"You're my brother, but you'll never be my friend" -Rodrick 😭😭😭😭
Again again with the emotionalness of Rodrick
Maybe I'm the weird one but since I've watched this an ungodly amount of times I've noticed the inconsistencies. Rowley's mom is different from when they're at the mom/son dance and when Greg spends the weekend with them at the boardwalk. And then I noticed that during the talent show Rowley's mom isn't even there. On halloween, Greg and Rowley go to his grandma's house in the north part of the neighborhood. But when they go to their grandpa's retirement home, there's no grandma there. With a few things Frank has said about his dad, I think he's passed which means this is Susan's dad. And with no grandma in sight in the og trilogy you could assume Susan's mom has passed too and the grandma up north is Frank's mom. But in the long haul they road trip to see Susan's mom. I think I've watched these too much
Rodrick fake laughing so hard and spitting milk on Greg
"That is HILARIOUS grandpa [without missing a beat] read another one Greg" -Rodrick. I love the delivery Devon Bostick gives to his lines
Rodrick running around the hall reading Greg's diary
Greg not even making a noise and the old lady suddenly popping in front of the stall like mf YOU are the peeping tom
Them immediately jumping to beat Greg up
Rodrick tearing up during Patty's song in the talent show
I'm sorry but there's so many moments where Rodrick is sad and teary eyed I can't not mention it
"Can I borrow your eyeliner?" -Rodrick
The way the announcer announces loded diaper I just love the way he says it
It's tragic realizing that no one is actually singing themselves in this movie but I love Ben Segal and exploded diaper goes so hard
Rodrick kicking out Bill cause yeah!!!!!!!!!
Susan
Rodrick being nice to Greg on the way to school and then pretending to be a dick when he drops him off but the little thing he does when he leaves aughhh I love them

Elementary school throwback anyone? The Diary of a Wimpy Kid books started coming out when I was in elementary school and I've been reading them ever since.
Whenever a new one is released (there's like 15 now???) I feel an obligation to read it for some reason. I remember in second grade I read Rodrick Rules (a 217 page book) in 2 hours and I was extremely proud of myself and went around and told everyone. When I was in fifth grade I bought the new one from the book fair and read it over and over.
Reading them as an adult and also seeing the books from Rowley's perspective makes me realize what an absolute jerk and terrible friend Greg is (something I never really understood as a kid).

Emily: he's never read Twilight. Spencer, have you ever read a book that isn't a bible, literature, or in another language?
Spencer: Diary of A Wimpy Kid Rodrick Rules, does that count?
Emily: *disbelief* is that the only book?
Spencer: I really like Rowley...
Emily:
Spencer: Are you familiar with the term zoo-wee-mama?

Rodrick Dates Rowley’s Older Sister
Request: @nahbrothatsgay: Hiya! I was wondering if you could do a headcannon or something for Rodrick dating Rowleys older, edgy sister? Fluff and maybe a couple a NSFW comments in there too? ;) I’ve read like ALL the Rodrick fics on this site and I am desperate thank you️
A/N:Okay first things first thank you for being so damn patient with me my dude. I am so sorry this took this long... tbh I had this one and something else done for a while and have been sitting on it I just wanted to catch up on all in my ask, and school, followed by the amazing convention, and then after that procrastination got in the way of me doing that and I’m sorry, but alas I am back. I’m almost done with my spring break, but all my classes have been moved online for the rest of the semester I’ll have a ton of time at home on my hands. Once again thanks for being so understanding, especially since this request happened in the midst of the last shipping event 💕
Warnings: Mentions of sex
To say you were the black sheep of your family....
Well that was an understatement
It's not like you were completely unlike them
You did enjoy family time and all
All the corny stuff was kind of endearing to you
But everything else
Nah
A total 180
From music
To how you dressed
It was all different
You also unlike your family had an actual sass bone in your body
But as long as you were nice to your little brother
And got good grades
Your parents really didn't mind your style
You could always hear them trying to convince themselves it was a phase
Which made you just chuckle and roll your eyes
Who know maybe it was
But at the moment it made you happy to dress this way
And that was all that mattered
Despise Rowley and Greg being best friends for years you and Rodrick kind of stayed off each other's radars
Like you knew of his existence
And he knew of yours
But it ended there really
Neither of you had even seen what the other had looked like
Since you didn't share any classes really
Or if you did you zoned out enough after your names were called in attendance to not pay attention to the other
At least you didn't before
Normally whenever you had to pick up Rowley from the Heffley house
Rodrick was either in his room or his shitty band was practicing in the garage
But today he was front and center leaving the kitchen with a snack in hand
He nearly drops it when he sees you
The sudden noise making you look over in his direction
Your eyes lock and from there cue the mutual pining
"Earth to Y/N," your brother tries to get your attention.
"Are you malfunctioning or something?"
Greg looks between your gaze and quickly picks up on what's going on
"Awwww two freaks in love," Greg mocks
"Shut it fart face!" "Can it worm!" you and Rodrick yell at the same time
You look at each other again and smile once more keeping the gaze shorter this time
And then you are on your way
From that point making sure you're always the one to pick him up
And Rodrick vice versa
Just to talk to each other
Finding each other in few your shared classes
After a burst of confidence you asking him out
Him being totally flustered but agreeing
Sneaking around from there
At least on your end anyways
Your parents didn't really like Greg
And you couldn't say you blamed them
He was a nice enough kid and all
But some of the things he did were just too far
To be honest you still hadn't forgiven the little shit for breaking your brother's arm
But because they pretty much hated Greg you knew if they found out about you and Rodrick that they would try to end the whole thing almost immediately
And that was the last thing you wanted
Swearing your brother to secrecy
Him feeling bad saying it's lying
And you telling him that it's not lying just not telling them who your dating
Which makes him feel a bit better
Susan thinking it's so sweet that you two are together
Also probably getting caught by your parents early on
Like only 3 months in
When they were supposed to be out and came home early to the sight of you snuggled up on the couch
Fighting hard to keep your relationship
Tbh 100% a "But Daddy I love him" type of deal
Your dad caving and allowing it
But saying you had to be in the living room or have your door open when he was over
You agreeing
But you easily found a way around that rule
By simply going to his place
Or having him come over when you parents were at work
Rodrick being all cute and flustered when your all dolled up for a dance
Going to all of his gigs even if Chris couldn't sing for shit
Going to a bunch of regular concerts together too
Which is always fun watching him be such an adorable fanboy
Him teaching you how to play drums if you want
Being all cutesy in front of Greg and Rowley to make them fake gag
Or if you wanted to pull out the big guns just start making out
Having a new permanent ride to school each day
And rocking out with your cute boyfriend beat taking the bus ANYDAY
Lots of making out in the van
Also being each other's firsts
If you somehow thought Rodrick wasn't a virgin before he met you
Oooof my friend you are EXTREMELY mistaken
Once you get comfortable with each other though lbr...
Van sex is a common occurrence
It's the whole set up too
Whenever he's taking you out somewhere like near the lake or something
He'll set a comforter and blanket back there with some pillows
To make it nice and cozy for you
That's usually some point soon after a gig happens
When all his equipment is temporarily in the house
Being able to knock down the his fake confidence facade in three seconds
As mentioned before that boy just gets all blushy and sweet around you
It's the cutest thing
Babe is like the go to name for both of you
Overall just such a sweet relationship between two punks
