Also just another note regarding the Primes having gold accents, Sentinel has them too. Granted we all know that, I just want to talk about it in relation to the other Primes and their gold

For starters, it makes him look more like a proper Prime. They have the gold, and so does he, he seems like he belongs

But also, compare his amount of gold to the Primes

He’s got significantly more gold than the Primes, minus maybe the white ones who don’t have any other color to work with, including his solid gold wings, unlike Onyx’s, which only has the bone part thing gold

I think it can be interpreted two ways. For starters, it shows his decadence compared to the others. They ruled Cybertron, but Sentinel betrayed and usurped them so that he could live like a king. You could see this as him indulging in his newfound power. But also, it can be interpreted as overcompensating. He knows full well he isn’t a real Prime, but he needs people to believe he is. So he plasters himself in gold to look more like a Prime, since that was a trait of theirs, even more than the amount they had

I think it’s something interesting to think about. The only real issue with this whole analysis is that he looked the same in the flashback before naming himself Prime. But I don’t know, maybe it was just an animation thing, like how D-16 still had his mining badge in the flashback where he said he’d never mined Energon before

Boris, thank you for demonstrating, you've reminded me of the base rule of untangling intrigue.

Specifically: Ignore what Didn't Happen. Avoided outcomes can feel and even be very important but what is done is the lever by which any absence is accomplished- and the place to look for who was in reach.

So. What actually happened, in no particular order:

Agatha was sealed into mechanicsburg, which was itself sealed away

Gil's credibility was utterly wrecked, and he was unable to function normally much less manage the empire with a handicap

the stable head of the empire fell off (decapitation metaphor here)

the actual state of play remains opaque re: who is influinced

..... every one of these points seems to have an obvious gain to Lucrezia, and they're certainly the main points politically

what does Lu care if Klaus uses the opportunity to strongly influince Gil? if Gil is still publicly declared compromised it doesn't change anything. Even a full overwrite like she tried to do to Agatha wouldn't make significant difference: the empire would still beleive he was wasped and not trust him.

And the Lu's (with Zola as cuckoo) agreed that Agatha was a huge problem and sealing her seems an obvious choice if it's availiable. And Mechanicsburg clearly has some kind of mojo, or just some facet of how it is, that makes it hugely inconvenient for them, so that's also not a minus.

and if Lu is confident in her time manipulation abilities (and she would be) then she probably figures the time stop is a safe for things just for her. So She by chucking Klaus in there, she can 'kill' the head of the empire and still have her dear Klaus, because she's a possessive freak that way.

and all of this nonsense and in fact any freedom she allowed Klaus only works as a smokescreen to make his allies more confused on what the fuck she is doing.

so hey guys i finished dungeon meshi yesterday and i'm still thinking about it

So the fact that I have writer’s block is not a secret lol my ao3 last updated advertises the fact openly, and I’m trying to solve it. There are many reasons for it, mostly related to depression and addiction and other life-sapping problems that I am dealing with, but I know that the problem is also with the story itself. The muses have gone silent on War Drums in a very serious and unprecedented way.

I’ve just been bashing my head against the wall trying to figure out why it feels like that story that is the heart of my creative drive atm is dead in a way that I can’t force back into life. I’ve reluctantly come to the conclusion that the fact that the entire book was extensively and lovingly planned a couple years ago with architectural precision from the outside is actually the problem.

It was extremely fun back then to plan the book, chapter by chapter, planet by planet. That’s why I know we’re 15/45 of the way through that story, and each chapter represents about 3.125% of the total narrative. The character arcs follow beats timed according to percentage of the way through, like at 37% and 62% of the way through there are important conflicts that evolve their relationship, etc. It's solid and settled.

This is a problem because it’s no longer a mystery to write, and so not as fun to write, you know? It’s filling out a form that was outlined in the past, the mere execution of an idea that already exists fully formed in planning documents. I try to find energy to write from excitement about obikin’s relationship evolving, but I already know exactly when and how it happens, and so it just feels rote.

I remember how it felt to write Lex Talionis, and I KNOW that I can successfully write a 187k complete book. The difference with LT was that I felt the shape of that book and vaguely sensed plot points that I needed to happen, but my subconscious did the planning and writing it was more like discovering it. I need that energy back for War Drums if I'm going to finish.

Of course I really really really don’t want to throw away that much planning. It’s comforting to have the entire story on rails, and I can trust the pacing to that outlining structure. BUT I’ve spent the summer slowly coming to the realization though that it simply will never happen, and what I need to do is toss the outline in the bin, reread the beginning, see what threads are there, and dive off into the unknown.

So I don’t know how War Drums is going to end anymore. Or I knew how one version ended, it was satisfying, and maybe after I finish the version I am about to write, I will share the old dense outline. I’m going to make it fresh by making it new, and hopefully that means more story will come this fall. It’s a creative project unlike anything I’ve ever tried before, so we’ll see, but I feel intrigue and a hint of inspiration, so I need to chase it.

finished the outline for CW, its gonna be a total of 28 chapters! some parts in the middle im still a little iffy on but i have all the broadstrokes/know exactly where all the big important scenes are placed >:) including a lot of things im very excited for

As someone who has steadily kept up on almost all Watcher shows and side projects, this backlash really does come down to how out of touch the guys have become, even before making Friday’s announcement.

Ryan and Shane (certainly the biggest draw to the channel) got their start with lower-brow, boyish humor and riffing off each other. Can’t forget the capitalism-critical and “power to the underdog” attitude that resonated with so many fans early on either. Now though, if you watch/listen to Pod Watcher, it’s hard to overlook just how unrelatable they’ve become in recent years. Which is whatever—it’s not like we only consume media in order to intimately relate to hosts/characters—but it does mean they’ve lost something integral from the charm that netted them their initial success.

To add. If you watched their latest season of Too Many Spirits, they weren’t even funny, just trashed and off-putting, lol. Frat-style drinking by a backyard pool and Ryan overhand throwing bones at a neighbor’s dog for barking.

Maybe not as bad for Shane, but the egos have really grown uncomfortably outsized. And at some point I got tired of watching videos based around lavish over-indulgence. Even if Steven’s videos cost less to produce than Ghost Files (I assume), they clearly rub viewers the wrong way on principle alone.

All in all, and not to minimize their hard work in getting out the content that they do, I think the Watcher guys should’ve been much more careful in considering this move and its rollout.

For years, I’ve maintained a Patreon subscription to a separate and unrelated funny-guy trio (for the same monthly price Watcher Streaming is now asking). However. The group I subscribe to is more than situationally-funny-sometimes, and always come across as grounded, emotionally intelligent, and likable people. Which makes me want to see them succeed and help how I can (though I would still be able to access 95% of their content even without subscribing).

So yeah, idk. Steven Lim driving a Tesla and wanting a second one or whatever is kind of just the tip of the iceberg.
